i only have nine minka
me too minka
those are the ones nan + i found the bad things (sing) in NO
25 words here
common words? the ones i have are silly words. some in foreign languages and such.
oh, drop an e for two more L's
When you drive your car accross the TOLL WAY you have to pay a FEE
super carra. i m impressed
well tim, in my defense, i happen to type very fast (around 115 wpm on average) and since there are no penalties for typos and invalid words, that makes it easier on me
jesh
30 words and its 1:15 am here, i am going to bed and read, good night, babble buddies

lady - your welcome. Found another good one for today. Click on it to see what country it comes from.
hehe minka
OK thanks
how is lickety helpful????????i dont get it. it just tells you how many and length right?
of the 21 i have, there are...6 i would probably use
Minka you dont eat CHOCOLATE?
hk - Check if all your buttons at the top are not gray - If any are - just hit Refresh Babble and then you should get your fireworks
six to use? how about some clues?
aha - that's it lickety, thanks
i love chocolate why?
too early for clues, minka
i got that choc word but when did you last use it in writing or speaking to someone???
theres a word that comes from that process :) thinks about it
but yesterday's fireworks are lost to me, right?
right minka, but it also tells you the points, and they're in order... if you have two words and a blank in between, you know a lot about what the blank has to be
erm. that's pretty random, minka... so here's a random clue. there's a cl4 that sounds like clue ;)
minka, hot chocolate?
Speaking about drinking some :)
helen - I'll just update the fireworks history now - and give you the address
ornith, will consider it.
sounds great lickety, ty

is lickety the lickety who does that site???/i am impressed.;
that's utterly simple; you just click on "Send Words to Clues"
I am good, wish for a bigger grid on weekends specially today as the boys are home today and tomorrow and there is no other form of entertainment available. We may be getting a kitten though - rescue part white Russian 100 % nuts
minka, Lickety is unique and he is in Australia with his wife, Mr President
Herin glad to hear you are good and that you are getting a kitten yes grid should be bigger in the weekend but then babblers complain about not being able to finish... lightbulb goes on how about a two one short and one long??
2 l's left -- probably the weird ones -- anyone got a clue?
erda, not everyone has babble expert. minka, you copy the list from babble, scroll down to where it says "bulk add", paste them into the box, and push "add bulk"
Or a weekend chunky grid. THat is a maybe to the kitty, depends if its owner reclaims her and other stuff
down to 8 words including the same 2 L's, I think, as nan

yw
any clues for the he 4/9?
ty jellen but why is this a real word? who writes this site of babble????????????????????
it must be in some dictionary somewhere.
he + personal pronoun
I got that one Jellen, the last he
this site refers to the "enable" dictionary, which is totally weird
Apr: to cut down with an axe
hi all, tough grid?
tough
minka, Babble uses an extensive word database called Enable. Many of the weird words are technical or foreign in origin.
looks it :/
weird words!
thanks SpellCheck
Sorry April!
Fireworks, and goodnight all!
yw
how about he5 and he6?
Congrats, April!!
well it is the foreign that i find silly i guess. anyway it is very interesting.
he5= like putting up books, without first letter.
he6 adds plural letter
Thanks, Jellen!
yw, firebrat
clues for the n and s that only need one word????????
foreign is silly, minka?
na + repeat consonant + plural
well jilli, i guess i could add lots of german words and would that be fair? some arent in here for sure. so how do they choose which ones? if from english countries, fine but i see spanish words so what about the chinese words i know? so what are the limitations i guess that is the real question. if you are limited to english words then we get from england, australia etc and that is fine. otherwise hey, why not russian words, french, spanish, japanese and on and on..........
tyjellen
Jilli, my sister and I have been going through family papers today (and will be for several more). Thought of you and your father's writing while deciding what to keep. We tended toward inclusivity. I'd like to spend more time with them.
minka - it is based on the enable dictionary - so whatever neable has, is what we get. we didn;t start the fire.
jelle and jilli - i have been going through my mother's journals as well.
right ren
where are you from ren?
originally - west texas
and now what is the flag?
bahamas
minka -- have you clicked on any of the icons?
what a lovely part of the world ren
I wish my parents had kept journals--they were such interesting people.
my profile has the we didn;t start the fire link
ren just went to the profile with dogs etc. very nice.
Fireworks!
my dad will not keep a journal - he was sowrn to secrecy - so secret he is...arrrggghhhh
I'm in Tennessee, btw.
yay firebrat!!!
i guess i need time to click and see. tried to click my own and nothing.
Congrats, firebrat!!!!
BTW, had firewords too -- interesting language in the video if you have BabbleExpert!
so ren is a woman? i guess i dont even know that! nor do you know what i am.............very strange stuff this
ok me beauties - sweet zzzzzzzzzzz's see you all later
what is babble expert? this is only my fourth or fifth time here.
minka, you don't have an icon -- you have to go pro to get that and a flag and [profile
Congratulations, jilli!
night, rennie
oh i see. sorry all. dont know what pro means but we will see.
all i know is that you are a bunch of very very smart people.
Pro means you paid a one-time fee of $15
g'night, rennie
bye ren8
fireworks here - some interesting words and good clues - tx all
*sorry renfield even
hi, ursh, and congratulations
ok, so that's pro. What is babble expert?
Babble Expert is a page Lickety devised with the grid and clues and chat etc all together. It's still beta. Its gereat feature is the "Lickety Add" box where if you type one word it goes to clues, and if you type more than one it goes to chat.
hi again i was messing about elsewere
YAY ursh!!!
hi again, herin
Oh Jilli - i think the best feature is "send words to clues"
Sorry have to stretch this out
. . . and lickety doesn't even play? wow!
I love that lickety add sends words to clues and Babble at the same time.
well, ursh, there are many facets -- but if you use Lickety Add the words go to clues automatically
Lickety's wife plays
oh ok will have to try that tx jilli
lickety is a god send especially on massive grids
Well, bedtime for me -- may be back to clue tomorrow if needed
Well Sunday has arrived overcast and quite cool - so good day to watch tennis and formula 1
so, are you guys in expert now? typing there and it shows up here? neat-o. reminds me of a line from Broadcast News.

thanks Jellen, Atalante sent it to me!
my biological father was 6 ft 7. I never met him (I am adopted)
Aaah--Ata is talented.
My consolation is that I can buy small cars and furniture and save money... but I certainly don't stand out in a crowd!
cant get last we.....................
wow. Tall family indeed!
I envy shorter people when shopping for clothes. Hate clothes shopping, actually.
my kids are taller than their friends (they're age 5 and 9), my son isn't super tall but my daughter is long and lean like I used to be. Now i am just long =)
last WE is a word for a person from a small part of great britain
I was never lean, but am now less so... LOL and my younger child is now taller than me!
good try stidmama but cant get it.
we5=like people from Wales
yes, i envy short people because you can find clothes easier and you don't bump your head on all the crap hangint down in stores and you DON'T stand out in a crowd so that is NICE.
wow, stid! i have a ways to go before my kids are my height or mroe. that will be WEIRD!
yes, it has been strange kierlex... but also nice. He has really long arms, too so now I can have him to the stuff that is overhead! LOL
I used to be long and lean, too, kier.

I'm one of a kind, stid! :-)
yes! i am so bad with names, i can remember a face and what they were wearing and what color their earings are but NAME???
me too! or if I have typed a list of people, I know all the names (and sometimes the other details) but don't ask me to connect that with an actual person! LOL

TY herin and enjoy your day, I have to run too today as going stroller shopping (didn't manage to get there yesterday)
I reread my last post and see it sounds catty, babs. Didn't mean it that way, I meant finding 10 is pretty good, considering the size of the grid!
see everyone tommorow
babs, I'm having to rely on Lickety almost entirely today
Morning all, tiny, nasty wee grid today!
Despite all the real words.
Morning all! What a stinker.....
Got 4 left, I'll leave them for later, when I've mustered up more strength (or hubby gets up and sees them straight away LOL)

yeah, but we're not impressed with big words here LOOL
Who was that pink, a new player?
doesn't need to be a big word...like rotl and artl
oooooo i'd love to get rotl into a convo!
hello everyone...sleepless in Seattle so I thought I would jump in on the grid!

his name is best babble pla, he kept asking if anyone needed help and then being rude when we said no one needed the help
good morning! and what is a rotl??
Hi LMC2
some old weight measurement
hi LMC
one of my favorites is atlatl
morning sprite
good morning LMC2...shows up in the grid all the time
a roti is a Jamaican "turnover"...dough stuffed with filling, often goat

yay LMC2, nice :)
hi Eva and carleek
No need to shout ladies!!
Merp is fine, but about to get stuffed into his carrier in few hours to go to his other home in Boston. He doesn't know yet, but won't be happy with it. But once he gets there h'es quite happy to be back.
Hi Eva, haven't seen you for ages hope all is well?
awwwww
we weren't shouting... the font in the chat is small...so used cap's to show was an "l" versus" "I"
not shouting fmitch just showing the 2 ifferences in the 2 words thats all lol
any clues for the O words for the bottom O?
""L" I mean...
Eva,
I know, I forgot to put a :) on the end
everything is fine. Just reached a point where I only do what's easy in the grid and then move on....just dont feel like making the effor to sitck with it for long periods of time. Have been playing a lot of weboggle.How are you FMitch?
sorry -- as I was saying -- my dog has seen us travel so many times, she can tell when we're getting ready and she totally freeks out. She's terrified of being left behind so she will get into the suitcases and things. Once, we couldn't find her and she was hiding in the trunk of the car.
Eva, there is a little fluffy black a& White cat that has included our garden in its territory and I have nicknamed him "little merp". I am well thans Eva and anjoying a lovely sunny dry day.
Awe poor woofer LMC
very sweet LMC2. I have to be very careful not to let Merp sense any anxiety, and before I begin packing I close all the doors to make sure he can't hide somewhere unapproachable. Then I give him half an antihistamine to make him groggy so he doesn't hyperventilate and yowl all the way to Boston
poor girl :(
we use the antihistamine trick too.
Must get my eyes tested, thought you said 1/2 an amphetamine on antihistamine!
Oh, FMitch, what an honor...I'll ket Merp know. The cat I had before Merp would pee on all the suitcases as we were packing.
awwwwww
LOL, I can't imagine what my dog would do with an amphetamine! Those squirrels better watch out.
LOL LMC
My stomach just groweled, so I guess it's time for me to go. See you all later.
antihistamine, not amphetamine.....yes, an amphetamine would be a scary thought.
bye LMC
well, 20 left and time to move on to weboggle. see you all later.
bye Eva
bye eva
bye LMC and Eva...enjoy
I ahve to admit defeat, can't chat in the log and make jewelry at the same time plus I must get ready to go out for lunch. Happy Babbling. Happy Birthday sprite :)

hi ya red.... am surprised you are here so early...figured you'd be sleeping soundly
good morning scarlet:)
Sleep and I are not good friends, kat... and this is my relaxing time before the tennis finales... How is everyone?
help wioth le 6/36 please
Hi Scarlet. Much better know that we have sunshine instead of nonstop rain. Thank you for asking.
how many of us are in front of wimbledon, i wonder...
no tennis for me, waiting for cycling
At last, a respite, Frances... so glad to hear that!
sani
waiting for the british grandprix myself
So much sport happening here this weekend - wonderful!
Who are the Rafa fans, and who loves Roger? Tee-hee... I smell a roustabout coming... I know Une is the Number One Rafa fan here!!
Hi, Alleyn!
No I am his no 1 fan! Have you seeen him in the flesh ...........
I've not watched Wimbledon, as soon as they start grunting and screaming, I switch off.
( am so not aware of ANYTHING with tennis anymore..was an avid fan of bjorn...and then when mcenroe and becker came on scene I completely lost any and all interest
Roger had the easier ride into the final but it would be nice to see someone else win.
Literally, Alleyn? He is one cut young man, though!
Well not all of his flesh. But caught him at Queens
kat, I loved Borg too... and when Martina retired, I haven't been compelled to watch the women too much...
Wow, Alleyn. I saw Pete Sampras once... he was amazing!
Hi ExWren. I'm with you there. Tried to watch the Williams/Sharapova match the other day and the grunts and screeches made me turn it off. #
Exactly, ExWren and Frances...
I used to be a tennis fan when it was amateur, but it is all about money now
I am pulling for hamilton and alanso in the british grand prix...sentimental fav is hamilton since in his home race..but I am an alonso fan
......money, money and more money!
Monica Seles has a lot to answer for.
Kat, forgive my ignorance, is the Grand Prix auto or bicycle?
Formula one Scarlet.
formula 1 cars
Hey Canadians. Flying to Calgary on 23rd July. What weather should we expect?
I might get interested if Andy Murray gets his game going. He survived the Dunblane School killing, he was there
depends on the wind... could be brutally dry and hot... or could be refreshing warm
Wow... I am a big fan of the national races, but really never became too involved in other countries' races... NASCAR is huge here, but I don't get it... Formula One is a true sport!
I like the history of nascar... but... how hard can it be to turn..left...left...left...left... left... left...left...left... left
Where is the race being hosted?
NASCAR is that where they drive round an oval?
Thanks for that Carleekat and how about Vancouver and then Alaska? Trip of a lifetime coming up.......
lol carlee

Yes, Frances... it's a huge "sport" and I just can't get interested... but formula is another story! I met Jackie Ixyx (spelling?) and sat in his John Player Special racing car, once!~
<POMPOM TOSS> liz...woot woot
Way to go, lizmac!!
Rafa? Did someone mention my Rafa??
as far as I know the video is of Estonia, but no movement or music, right?
watch out for me on the TV, feather, we're off to wave at the cycles in a few minutes :)
Carlee - brilliant! Not malaria carriers I hope
LOL, Une... only several times...
basically...warm... bring layers...light t-shirts... but have a wind breaker and a sweatshirt... swimsuit too... most of the country sees 25C or higher..to MUCH higher ( today we expecting 40C here )
Sounds like stockcar racing with a prettier car and avoiding being hit.
tomorrow then, folks. Byeeee. There IS music on the vid, Inge.
belated congratulations lizmac:)
The fuel and fuel injection properties are completely different, too, Frances.
Bye, lizmac.

Baking is on my to-do list carlee.
THanx ev1 they were not words I have ever heard

( made rice pudding lasst nite and I have cinnabons in oven )
carlee, girls that age love those little umbrellas you put in drinks. Cheap, but grown up
I agree Norma, some new words for me as well.
yeap...the "party store" ( papers, plates..etc...) is next door to where I work..its on my too-doo list..and willget cute "drink glass" at dollar store
Dollar store is laoded with that stuff.

carlee, you could do a luau theme party
kabobs, exotic drinks, that kind of thing.
Ok, off to tennis...I will be happy for either guy, as I like both Rafa and Federer very much
The beauty of kabobs, is the kids can custom build their own.
Enjoy the matches Scrabbler!
oc must be obvious but..................

oc + **k me if I have a clue

The song that goes with today's video helped Estonians gain independence. Look up Laulupidu, name of their songfest held every 5 years. On my visit to Estonia we saw the field where the songest started (under Communist rule yet). And the song made me cry, so listen to it and look it up, Babblers
Yes Annie
Annie, the first co5/14 is alt spelling of the drink.
2 ways of spelling the drink
no the first one is the plural of what sounds like a soft drink. There is also a hot drink plural annie
G'd morning Vicuna

too much multitasking, looking up where ata was, etc.
we've all done it.
where is ata?
she watched the end of today's stage of the tour de france! near canterbury
oh neat

Just seen a bit of the tennis. Wasnt very interested in that but hasnt Borg turned into a gorgeous looking fellow!!!
there's the blue train! i saw those guys up front on tv!
was sooooooo much fun
ha, and i quote from the live report: "It looks like McEwen might have fallen down - he appeared to have a bit of road rash on his left arm. His team is working really hard to get him back in the bunch even though he probably doesn't have a chance at the stage win anymore." that was with 6km to go, so near you
LOL what do they know :)
ohh, trying to figure out riders
yeah, i've been trying to do that!
oh, you got 2 discovery riders, cool!
can't see numbers, and am not good with faces
I just had to snap randomly for the 10 seconds it took for them to pass!
sooooooo cool!!!!
yeah, between the helmets, shades, and identical outfits, it's hopeless to figure out for me!
totally. but still was somehow amazing even it was just a blur
will you follow the rest of the tour on tv?
oh yes, I love it
you're the first babbler i've had a chance to gush about it with!
though I enjoyed it more when Richard Virenque was riding LOL
YAY!!!! Daniel was born in 2004, the year lance went for his 6th. I was afraid i'd miss some vital part of it while in the hospital!
i like a lot of them. robbie mcewan, levi, george hincapie was always a fave of mine, vinokourof (yeah, i can't spell half of them), and then the ones that aren't there anymore, ullrich, and tyler hamilton
LOL couldnt Daniel have scheduled his appearnace for after the tour?!
no kidding! he was born on the day of the alpe d'huez! luckily, i saw it that morning before hand
husband and I are thinking of going over to the alps next year to follow the tour for a few days
may I have a clue for the "a"?
our tv shows it tons during the day. 8:30-11am live, then 11-2 extended coverage, then 4-6pm, then 8-11pm, and finally 12-3am for the insomniacs
a mountain stage would be awesome! less speed, more time to see them
we have it live all day, and then highlights in the evenings
yes! thats what we were thinking
aww, shoot, if i'd tuned in a few minutes ago, i'd have maybe seen your area! showing 2.9 k to go right now
awww! I'm going to watch the highlights in half an hour, probably video it too :)
watching the end again now
trying to see where robbie came from
lol, the announcers had no clue till he showed up seconds before the line!
somewhere not at the front LOL
he's my defininte fave for green
amazing
I've always liked the king of the mountains best, but I think thats cos they get a funky jersey
hehe, yeah
i get so nervous on the descents though, don't want to see an awful crash
nooo its awful when that happens
well, i'll be watching for you the next 3 weeks then to dish!
any news yet on the landis case? last i knew nothing
no, I had a look the other day and couldn't see anything
http://tinyurl.com/2pf2vf those are the 3 sites i check out a lot. the top one is the one that has the really good minute by minute coverage. the bicycling.com one does too, but it's tiny.
the daily peleton one has a forum for the landis case too
oh colo *checks them out*
cool! lol
keep the link, if i find anything else good i'll add to it
the delicious one that is
have we chased everyone else away?
ok :)
i think so!
they're all probably done, or doing the grid and thinking "what on earth are those two blabbing about" and rolling their eyes!
meanwhile i still have 10 to go, as i did a good 30 minutes ago
i still have 19
well, i'm off to nap. see you later!
bye!
oh, our tv channel that has so much coverage just said their site, www.versus.com

Sounds like a good night. And, I am REALLY glad that the toddler is better

It was one of those cases where WE are way more scared than the parents, because we know what can happen.
Unfortunately, that makes perfect sense to me, scrabs

Have you read the book, Wordfreaks? A fascinating look at Scrabble lovers that play at the championship level.
no I have nto I will have to look for it at the library
Then there was a movie too--I think it had a different name though
there was a movie??
Yes, let me look for it
"Word Wars"
I will have to look for that as well, however most the time the books are so much better than the movies
And "WordPlay" and "Scrabylon"
3 movies in all. I think it was Wordplay that I saw, but I will order the other 2 via Blockbuster Online now
The book is great!
Do you play SCrabble, meliae?
is there an online scrabble
Mom there's an online scrabble at yahoo
thanks...think i'll go check it out.
yw
I play with my friends and we don't play with a time limit--official rule is 25 cumulative minutes per player per game, and that is a lot of pressure
phantom: echo
Change the last ltr for ec4 then pl for ec5
I play scrabble at home but not online, I play Literaci, tanglewords, bookworm, scrablle blast online
Tanglewords and this one are the ones I play the most
I will check some of those out, meliae, but I fear another addiction.
Whoo!! Pretty fireworks!
tanglewords is a grid like this one with a time limit, there are different level of time and grids, you can choose to play against other people your level, or you can go up against the big guys
yay Grats
I play in the 1200 room, user name is the same, you have to play 20 games in the general lobby before you can get into the player created rooms, but 20 games dont take long at all
Yahoo Debaser
Meliae--what is the website for Tanglewords--I cannot locate it
you can find it at http://www.iwin.com/ click on the online games then scroll down for tanglewords

hi. I think so
evening all, and congrats hursh
what is that, Hurshy?
Hi Feather
when they say "this call may be monitored and recorded..." they monitor you from there EVEN IF YOU'RE JUST ON HOLD
you are not left handed?
spill it hurshy
Hi Feather
actually i AM left handed.
lol
really
and that wasn't the declaration of independence, it was the preamble to the constitution
so as you're sitting there muttering and cussing out the annoying music, you're being recorded.
the declaration begins... when in the course of human events
exactly featherbee
well, that explains it
*stuffs banana cream pie in hurshy's mouth*
so be careful what you say! esp at work, if you're dealing with sensitive info
Feather, what did you decide about the dresser?
oh, too late :)
oh, we got it! originally $399, they told me $349 that day. doug went the next day, and it was $249!
niiiiice
wow. what a deal. Were the scratches very bad?
yeah, i'm proud of that purchase. i don't even notice the scratches, haven't bothered to try to steam them out yet.
not really!
so if you start cussing and swearing when they put you on hold someone might be listenig:)
i mean, you notice it on the store floor, but in the bedroom, not so much.
the nursery is just about fini.
that is great Feather
I dont undertand cl 4,9 and cl5
sounds like clue.
cl + first 2 letters of a female sheep

hursh, do you recall me saying i don't like confrontation not long ago? this is in the "idealist" profile...big ole no kidding...
Idealists are sure that friendly cooperation is the best way for people to achieve their goals. Conflict and confrontation upset them because they seem to put up angry barriers between people.
last 4 are all s's...
inge - I've only ever got to plan Z once and that was when my Dad finally had to go into a home with Alzheimer's disease when we could no longer cope at home.
even Beethoven put that to music: Wem der grosse Wurfe gelungen, eines Freundes Freund zu sein ( who ahs succeed making the big hrow to be a friend's friend.....
sa4/4, sl5/18 and both so
got the sl
My Dad also died of /with Alzheimers. I coped by realizing tht that was not the man who raised me, and even chuckled at his misconceptions
sa4/4 is Latin for 'without' (as in none/not having)
sa4.4 means without, sa*d* of Iwo Jima
sl5.18, plural the one above it.
you are a strong woman, inge
my Dad was in a nursing home for 18 months
so5.12= so + on a ***ar Day you can see forever

hi all!
There was a lady in the home where Dad was who had been a nurse at that very same hospital years before, a midwife in fact. Everyone who came in, man or woman, was pronounced pregnant by her and she told anyone off who crossed their legs...'That's bad for your veins!' She also used to steal spectacles and stash them in her handbag.

a caretaker took him to a restaurant and park three times a week. He loved riding the children's swings
inge - nothing wrong with loving that. I still do it when I can get away with it. Love that 'oomphy' feeling you get in your stomach when swinging high and fast.
While still at home he kept hoarding all the knives and hiding them, accusing the cleanign lady of stealing them . She was a family friend and understood.
It helps to compare notes, Jacula. Thanks for listenting
Years before he was diagnosed, my Dad took to hiding his bank card behind the bath panel.
There's a long story about that but I won't go into it now.

inge - my Dad will have been physically gone for 4 years on 23rd November. He was 72 when he died. He himself, as in the man we knew had been mostly 'gone' for 5 years' before that and kind of disappearing for about 5 before that. However, he was a kind, loving and helpful man and I often feel him with me now... especially when me and my partner are looking for a particular tool to do a DIY job. It's like he finds them and hands them to us. I know it sounds weird...

Sing American Pie... 'drove my Ch5/24 to the le4/9 but the le4/9 was dry... and good old boys were drinking whisky & rye, singing, 'this will be the day that I die...' Carry on singing, folks. LOL.
Our Dad was tentatively diagnosed with Alzheimer's 17 years before he died. And Mom passed away 13 years before him. After that he really lost it, and we hired carekeepers. Since we lived in Detroit and he was in Connecticut.

Jacula, did you know the Estonians are called the singing nation? Today's video is part of their independence singing revolution

Why is there always a small and easy grid on a Sunday? Is it because we're not supposed to work on Sundays?
supposed is the key word jacula
Mind you, as it wasn't raining for a change, I did manage to do some gardening earlier.
Icon pic now, if anyone cares to refresh to see it, is me on our recent holiday. I do look an odd shape in that pic! Must be the way Babble scales it down.

I just found Babble tonight and not doing well at all. Could someone please explain the sytem you use for the hints? For example, I don't understand what 6/24 or co5/14 mean.
It's supposed to be fun, not a chore.
i was taling about my daytime job:)
La - Welcome. Read the 'Help' section and then read Angelsong's page (last link in the 3rd column on the bottom left of this page).
Tim - and that is?
it would be hard to define:)
Try, tim.
i do everything from asseble furniture to graphics rendering
Who do you work for?
What do they do?
i set up stores and take care of marketing
Thanks. Sorry about entering that last entry twice.
Or are you 'just a housewife'? LOL.
a beauty supply company
Ah! I get it now. Could still be a description, albeit a short one, of what being 'just a housewife' entails though.
i also give on phone and onsite support to hairdressers
What's your job title, tim?
i am that as well in the evenings:)
General Factotum, I would guess.
marketing and support
but i am also the resident troubvleshooter so whereever there is a gap i fill it:)
Sounds like you need either a tigheter job description or a payrise, tim! Goodness! You must need 74 legs, 54 pairs of arms and 43 brains to do all of that.
Seriously!
it is crazy jacula
*Now trying to imagine that physical and mathematically impossible being.*
i take work home alot and i work long hrs
and in my head i quit alot:)
DON'T TAKE WORK HOME! Yes, I am shouting. It isn't worth it in the end.
i hear ya jacula
and i agree in theory
Been there, done that. You don't need it.
the only thing is sometimes in order to quelch the feeling in the pit of my stomach i need to get some things doene in a quieter environment
Yes, I know you need to pay the mortage/rent whatever, and eat and be warm and all of that but I do think that companies these days take advantage of employees' fears of redundancy or sacking.
things are really tough here
i live in an automotive town and they eliminated
It's not right. But I'll get off my soapbox now. I'm only still here because I can't sleep because I am scared sh*tless about my hospital appointment at 10am (it is now 3.34am here).
jobs
no i get you jacula nad i appreciate where you are comng from
tim - same thing happened where I live. The old Longbridge works (Rover, Mini, British Leyland, Austin to quote many of its names) employed most folks around here.
:(
:(
:(
sheesh
It looks so weird to be able to see across so much space now they've finally knocked the old works down. Never realised how big the site was.
when something has been there all your life it is odd
It was made into a munitions factory during WW2, with grass on the roof. My auntie worked there making shells and had the streak of yellow in the front of her hair that all the munitions girls had through handling the sulphur.
had lots of history
so what is your appointment for if you don't mind my asking jacula
tim - it's to check out a harmless looking spot/lump right on the very end of my nose (on the septum between the nostrils). Doc airly told me that, 'it might be harmless or it might be cancer. Either way, they'll cut it off.'
gee that can be cause for worry :(
they throw that "c" word around alot:(
I once knew a woman who had the same thing. Hers turned out to be a cancer but, before she could go in and get it checked further (as in shaving it off and/or cutting half her face away) she came home from work early one day with a bad headache. Her daughters (both in their early 20s) made her a cup of tea and got some paracetamol out for her. Before they could adminster either, she had collapsed and died from a brain haemorrage.
wow
Not that I think I will end up like poor Jen did with the brain thingey. But I know her nose thing looked as harmless as mine does.
Just me being dramatic.
Ignore me.
My partner has no idea how scared I am.
My Mum does, and she's coming with me.
My daughter is now coming too, because I want her to get x-rayed, since it seems she was knocked out and possibly concussed by a friend in a 'friendly, drunken' accident on Saturday night.
i would be scared too
My son is also coming along, having heard about his sister planning to drive me and my Mum to the hospital. 'No way!. Not if she's concussed!'
Turning into quite a family outing.
and you wouldn't want your family to know you are scared
Mum know I am, Tim.
Jac, I will never ignore you, besides, there are only two chatting! You'll be in my prayers!!!!!!!
She's the only one that needs to know that for now. ANyway, I'm sure it will all turn out okay.
JBs - thanks.xx
:)
Luv that they (family) are there for you!!!
My face may not win me the title of 'Miss World' but it's mine and I'm used to it, and quite fond of it as it is.
(Though I've always wanted 'cheekbones' like Audrey Hepburn. LOL)
Jac, you put me in mind of a C.S. Lewis book 'The Veil" had a great impact on me when I read it in my 20's
I think they charge extra for cheekbones!
Don't think I've read that book, JBs. Only the Narnia stuff.
i haven't read that cs lewis book JB what is it about
They probably do charge extra for cheekbones.
yes i read narnia as well
I think I'm the only one in the Babbleverse that hasn't finished this grid!!! <grin>
I know when I was offered a hysterectomy, but declined to have it, some years ago, I asked if a free post-child tummy tuck could be included. LOL.
JBs - what do you need to finish?
Story is of a female ruler of an ancient nation. When a few years into her rulership, she adopts wearing a veil, and over the years it defines her and her role in history. Are we our face, or do we become our face?
i could actually help this time:)
The book is called 'Till We Have Faces'.
sounds interesting
Let's see, what's left: an e in the upper right corner, 4 esses in the middle of the second line, 2 c's and all 7 of the L's in the 3rd line, (see next box)
Or 'Till We Have Faces: A myth Retold'
Can you tell I'lm losing my fine detail memory? HA!
JBs - and interesting concept about the face.
Must seek that book out and read it.
3 s's in the 4th line, and the lonely n, and 2 c's, the miiddle a, and one i in the lower right corner. 23 left to go!
There, Jac, something to read during recovery!
e in uper right hand corner might be female sheep?
inna
oops!
how long is recovery?
got the sheep. BAH!
tim - no idea! This appointement might be just a consultation or might be an operation. I don't know yet. And I won't if I don't sleep soon.
the lonely n is an na4/4 - plural grandmas.
The a is an an4/4 that sound like a reply.
gee
Thanks, Jac - got it in one!
The i at the lower right ir taverns or pubs, or places to stay in Britain.
I
Or it might be in6 which = in + another word for 'net'.
I'm happy that I've made it this far without going to Lickety's list, but have picked up hints in the log.
What's left, JBs?
:)
That's it, Jac! I had the 4, but not the 6. "net" threw me for a moment, but I kept sounding it out...
Still need that upper right e. I have the sheep, and thought the slinky fish would come off this e, but still shows I need one
Just got the a "reply" - was going for asso, thinking somewhat Japanese, ah so?
But NOOOOOO! I got the an**!
em4/5, JBs. em + 2 plurallising vowels.
Now, I've got to look THAT one up, Jac! Great clues, thanks!
y/w
those co clues were gonna be the death of me tonight
Doncha love it when the dictionary has no definition for the word?
It's an acornym, I think.
Have you got the 3 s's in the middle line yet?
Looks that way from entering it on Google - em** +definition comes up with some kind of social endeavor
sa4/5 (1st) = bodily pouches that sound like the containers for presents that Santa carries.
I got the killer s off the leftmost one, but not the other 4 (three off the left, one off the middle)
sa4/4 - Latin for 'without' (as in not having).
Mmmm, lovely word picture, that! Oh, and I did have the without word, too - thanks to my spotty French from way too long ago!
I tried sani as a short for sanitize, but not accepted
se4/5 = abbreviation for part of time... as in when a wife tells her hubby, in answer to him enquiring, 'How much longer are you going to be?'... 'Only a few se**, darling!'
That se4/5 sound like what men have on the brain. LOL
What self respecting wife would say se**?!!! I always say minutes (and bask in the glory of being there before he expects me to!
LOL, Jac!!! Definitely!
sl4/9 = killed.
sl5/18 - looks like the adjectival form of that but means skids over out of place.
Sleeve SHOULD be in there, at least my tired brain insists on typing it!
JBs - LOL.
Of course! That's what my car does in the winter when there's snow on the road!
How many to go now, JBs?
hi, all
16, Jac. Hi, Jellen!
Hi, Jellen. I'm not really here. LOL
he jellen
I'm not either, Jac
Tim - You are still here then!
yup i don't see jacula at all
Okay, here's a question: if disheveled is a word, why not shevel ( or hevel)? Hmmmmmmm????
I don't see either Tim or Jellen.
:)
So, JBs - list your words needed///
Oh, my, I actually typed that out into the log. I think I'd better wrap it up, as I still have miles to go before I sleep!
this tim ei can chat more comfortably without watching the clocok:)
Well, I was wondering about 'precool' from yesterday. Seems an odd kind of concept.
If anyone can help with two "we" words, I'd appreciate it :)
Have to feed the cats, get my papers together for tomorrow, and say my prayers (with one for Jac!)
like the things on carrs -1 consanant
(psst, Tara, ask Jac - but pretend she's not really here...)
we4/8 = the thing your car has 4 of with 2nd consonant missing.
we4/8 - piddles or urinates.
(or tim, either)
a ha
we5/20 = from Wales.
My car has? I'm not there
Good night!!! *poof*
Oh!
g'night, JBs
night jbs
humm if you go anywhere the fireworks go away
Nos da! (That's We5/20 for goodnight.)
hehe
I have 8 to go and I swear it feels like 30.
i was struggling wiht my last 5
Tara - your car has 4 tyres (or tires if you are from USA). Those tyres are wrapped around wh***s. Take the 'h' out for the word you need.
I got that one, Jac - thank you. It ate my reply!
y/w, Tara.
I'm off up the wooden hill now. Nos da!
Take care
Nos da, Jac!
night jac good luck:)

clev

Oops, started to type (wrongly..) in the wrong window:)
So h's are done?
I WISH! I now have one E *1st E, second row) and 3 S (second row)
oops - yes H all done
4 ltr "es"
there's a 6 letter es, but no 4 letter es
Damn - I have that one. I am obviously confused here - let me re-check
Ah - it's an "el"
There's the threat word--do it my way or el**
Got it

You're welcome. I enjoy cluing.

Ok - I am missing two "se" and an "sa". I have the time measure, and appearance for the "se" ones - and the french word for without for the "sa" one
se= vends or exchanges goods for money, -l
se4= se + personal pronoun
!! yay
:)
oo - it's an SC word
the sa is like grocery bags without the k
Sorry, Jellen - I had it wrong

the only sc word has 6 letters
only i sc in the sc*** of things
sc6= to plot or sc****
lol add another *
THANK YOU
OR sc + male pronoun + personal pronoun
fierworks
I feel like a dirty cheat - but I'll take it lol
Yay, Tara!!!!
Thanks guys
I also ask for lots of clues, it's not cheating; it's just a different way to approach the puzzle.
Evening, all!
You're very welcome, Tara
LOL I like the way you think, Jellen ;)
hi, Janiece
Hi, Janiece
evening jan
man, this rid is going slower than i expected
cheating would be asking for the words not clues
cheating would be asking for the words not clues
cool icon krys
thnx :)
Could I trouble you kind folks for some help? We're down to 4 words and stuck! Any help for the sh6,36?
i don't know why but i am doing that alot tonight
i will try jan:)
sh6/36= sh6/30 - last letter + sometimes vowel
sh+LOTR characters or impish garden lore
Thanks a bunch. How about those pesky le's 6,46 and 7,52. I'm guessing that the 7 is a plural of the 6?

the co-set is a lot of fun!
i am more of a dog lover
yes krys it confused the heck out of me
We've got one of those, too!
my daughter is very allergic to most animals so we don't have any pets though
```````````````nbcb
eww i only have one co, best get cracking
Oopd, sorry, cat on the keyboard!
kier think chocolate for 6 of the clues
Good nite, all. And thanks again for your help!
well i got 4 of the chocolate words
well then think chocolate for 2 more:)
g'night, Janiece
do the other 2 sound like the first 4?
kier, one of the co's starts the name of a popular cola drink
or you could think of ms channel
i have ms chanel and plural
OMG i can't believe i didn't get that one, i am totally addicted to that brand of cola! doh!
then add a plural letter
so add a vowel to that and then plural
eight words left but i have to go put my rodents errr hyper brats errr sweet darling sugar plums to bed
Congrats, Krys!!
yeah kier:)
i mean krys:)
anyone in need of any clues?
what is the meaning of tomorrow's icon theme?
i think everyone here is done
then congrats to all. see y'all tomorrow. nite.
Dodo -- Google will explain tomorrow's theme
Hi, Do.
Hello all
where do you see tomorrow's theme
hi, jilli
hi jilli
timie, if you're using Babble Expert, go to Resources. If not, go to Who's Online and look for Babbler
i'm not using bable expert
i don't think i can
And just to save you some effort, tomorrow's theme is Last.fm Day (Google it)
i am on windows 98 and i think i have trouble with beta
timmie, everyone can go to Who's Online -- the tab above the chat
evenin' all. how's tricks?
hey, jes
oooh, Jellen, that's a wunnerful kitty
Thank you. Wish I'd done it myself.
timmie, email Lickety and ask about Windows 98 -- there shouldn't be a problem, and beta just means it's being tested -- by us. Lickety's email is l icketysplitaus@gmail.com
i don't know if it'll work on 98... i'm running win2k and the browser won't work for me. the version of IE i have is too old, it seems.
getting my next icon...
ah okay:)
How's the little bat, jes?
i will another day i spend a good portion of my time here today trying to figure out flikr
voracious, jellen. and getting much more agile... think she'll be trying her wings out fairly soon.
How exciting!
:)
cute ico jellen
hee. my icon accidentally fits the astrology theme, and it accidentally fit the live earth theme too (with a little imagination). what's the upcoming theme?
ty, tim
Last.fm. I'm not sure what to do with that one.
jes, click on my icon for the answer
that's a theme? hmm. well... i suppose if the earth eats the moon, that'll be the last of the moon's FM transmissions ;)
I think it has something to do with internet radio (according to Google)
Please, let the new grid be not too big. Still have family in town--limited Babbling time.
Yes, that's right, Jilli. I'm listening to Last.fm right now.
:)
good stuff, jellen? What kind?
It's supposed to be music similary to Sting (of the Police). I'm not sure I agree with the selections, though.
*similar
Not my bag
You should hear what they categorize as baroque!
Not strong in the classical music area.
oh you mean they even know there IS baroque?
yes, but some mighty funny modern selections popped up as well.
sorry if I'm being snotty but I'm up to here with huge "concerts" and this one seems to be purely for profit
anyway, your icon is such clever three lines
113
This is just an online music service, not a big concert. I was very disappointed in the Live Earth event, though.
that would be nice, knight
That would be about right for me too, Knight.
Hello all...I'm going to say 142!
