lol, yes, jilli, that was really strange, the time was right but everything else was as yesterday
Yay, Groovy, the scholar!
we've had about 5 days of summer -- tosay was one of them but tomorrow is supposed to be cloudy, cold, and possibly wet
i don't think of Cleveland as midwest - we eastsider claim the last foot hill of the Appalachians.
but yer smack dab in the middle of ohio culture baby...
;)
flosey, I just happened to notice that there were 23+ hours to go while we were estimating the size of the next grid so I flipped
hey, that's no dis. i'm from minnesota and wisconsin!
kaka, I aksed you where you were a while ago but I guess you sisn't see that -- are you in San Francisco?
ah, I had to refresh
Wisconsin has 2 seasons -- too cold and road repair

Congratulations, Dr. B.!
yay doc!!
wow Dr grats
YAY DrB!!!
This is clearly my week to be hunting for the last four at the end
Now maybe I can get a clue for the Iin the bottom row
he7 Loud music can affect your he-------
and the O on the left, so I can go to bed?
nicely done, Dr. B
oh oops I have that one I forgot to mark it off list
a
send a message via online conversation to your cat to leave ....
woohooo wtg drb ^5
(I haven't done a cute clue in a while and it shows...)
http://youtube.com/watch?v=3z_8q6HE8uI
clue on lu 8 pls
for ex-hubby.
What word is it for, Doc?
i think i have most of it doc, how many letters?
I was going for the i on the bottom
too tired to get that, DrB -- if it was intended for me
its an 8
ecting
it would really be more of an online message to your pet telling them you were leaving...
I'm not in the new grid. Off listening to music. My first love. LOL
(i was close the first time)
dammit, I had that as a kid
a skin infection
OH! got it DrB -- I had an episode of that in China when I was about 3 and I actually remember it
duh, thanks doc and ab!
mine wasn't on the face, though. It was on my arms and sides
mine was on my leg
they mistook if for chicken pox at first
I just had the one bubble
who knew it would become a conversation topic?
no antibiotics in those days
NOBODY START SHOWING PHOTOS
hahaha
giggle
http://youtube.com/watch?v=rT90keJ51bY
This has all flown over my head. What are the first 2 letters?
that's pretty explicit, drb
im8
now for the O on the left
now that I got the word I love the clue Dr! lol
my parents thought it would be best to drain the pus (like a blister), so it spread until the doctor told them they were morons
Remedial clue? Frustrated with self....
the o on the left is biological
Jellen: im8 - a staph infection of the skin common in children
still baffled, DrB
Song for me and my daughter...http://youtube.com/watch?v= OQ1rlDsTWso
Not enough information to Google, it, ab.
Jellen: Instant message your cat that you're leaving (with apolgies to DrB)
im+pet/dog+vowel+not stay
oops meant to put cat/dog my bad
ty, mel!

please translate, fran!
Either, for me.
jac, what time is it where you are?
What are the first two letters of the O5, Doc?
on
Forget I said that.
on5/14, it's almost a root vegetable
I believe the lu 8 is metalic or metal like
not that metalic and metal like are two completely different things
boy, I really start to crash once the grid is done
fireworks
yay arb!
I'm obviously too sleepy to get anything
grats Arb
Mazal Tov ARB!!!
Congratulations, ARB!
YAY ARB!!!
wow ... that's a RARE (earth) metal
thank you
Plus we're getting silly here. We've just recast "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" with Yoda as Buffy's Watcher and we think this is hysterical.
Hello everyone...
hi all and congrats arb!!
hi, ARB - while you were getting fireworks, i fired off a note to you. Now I should crash, much as I hate to before I get all the biggies. . .
good eve MVA happy babbling
hi douglas!
wtg ARB woohoo ^5
hello Douglas -- long time...
Hello Fran!
people were asking about you after the bridge collapse.
Hello jillibus...
Today's grid relies a LOT on latin
hi douglas
Hello MVA
hi mva!
ergo I'm sucking wind, ARB
lol freep
I was about a mile away from the bridge when it collapsed
latin? well, i'm screwen. Pienso que debe a irla mi cama
wow douglas
what, ab?
getting the list I am so stuck
me and my son just watched stardust about half an hour ago
screwen --> screwed
yikes, douglas!
I consider it the Princess Bride of the 00's
well, i checked crossword bebop and since you had current posts we weren't worried.
too bad they did stardust. The author wrote so many better books than that
i'll have to check it out then
The sandman: book of dreams is one of his best
stardust isn't bad, but it's a bit ... juvenile. Written somewhat down for kids
my son says the book is much better then the movie a lot of good parts were left out he says
although the ghosts were pretty funny
well, I give up on the O word. Must go to bed -- bye all
well, gaiman worked with Douglas Adams (hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy) a lot
I haven't seen the movie yet
nite jilli, sleep well
I don't go to theaters. Refuse to spend that much on something I can rent for a $1 2 months later
G'night, jilli
night jilli!
Pleasant dreams jilli!
er8,55 anyone?
Jilli, have you gone?
the star wars fan in me is offended that "endor" is not a word
but the seats were just $6 a piece
Just got the O word...
yeah, but at home, I can pause the movie when I have to use the restroom, smoke, and drink a beer :)
and lie on a couch
and not have to worry about my feet sticking to the floor
and Babble at the same time, ab
don't have that yet pigeon
not too mention the lack of dress code abmoraz
no, i tend not to take my computer into the movie room
lu7 or lu8 clues?
lu7 is the gerund of lu4
don't have lu8 yet
too much soda i think im going to start er8
jellen, lu7 rhymes with sacrifice bu***** in baseball
New word for me--thanks, Fran
and ab
yw jell
i haven't figured out the lu8 yet
it a long word for burping
um, I don't think bbuurrppiinngg is in the grid nor really a word ;)
lu8 = same first four letters as word before + third letter + same ending as on5
thanks douglas, never heard of it

Hi, feather!
Hello Feather, must be just after feeding time =)
yep. decided to park on the couch with him tonight, to try to keep a constant feed going. engorgement=no fun
just remember if you feed him too much your body will just make more milk, its trying to get regulated
bye kiwi, hi feather
oh i know. nursed daniel 14 months. just trying to keep the pressure relieved tonight.
yeah those first few nights are miserable
Just got the er8/55! (With help of a2z)

e + pirate drink + writing tool + cross
ty jellen
Sounds like something elephants should do.
ty

Go, mel, go!
I dont think I will be finishing tonight lol
I'm so slow, I have 86 left.
Not trying too hard, though.
do you work a quadrant at a time when you start or just start typing away?
I'm completely random.
me too
Halfway home, and we'll be there by morning, Through the Mississippi darkness rolling out to the sea...
It's the way my ADD brain works (or doesn't)
good morning america how are you?
That wasn't a clue, but we are half done...
Good night all...
yep I saw it was lyrics right off =)
good night Doug
Good night, Douglas
I keep wanting to make crumpet, lol
ar7/28 clue?
working off the list now, and its not helping much, lol
dont have it
I don't think I'll ever be good at this!
I have played boggle and tanglewords for years so that helps me some
but boy some of the words they come up with here are amazing
the difference is here that the "aim" is to get all the words, in boggle its just to get as many as you can
most of the time, the words are less difficult to find after you have found them
I'm no good at timed word games.
Sometimes I can't find words I've already found, BabbleRabble.
sounds familiar!
i can monkey words pretty good if I have some type of a root word, figure out the different greek etc endings, but boy some words just have me scratching my head
aucting

hello lovely lady oh and hello haz as well only joking
Hello Zen and loredana!
hmm not getting that clue haz =(
have you finished all that baking and more importantly did you have a lovely honeymoon and i do hope you have that beautiful wedding dress stored somewhere safe
melia - un plus a three letter word that can refer to part of the sails in a sail boat, or cowboy films used to refer to it with regards to carriages.
loredana, the dress will be on permanent exhibition as soon as I can find somewhere willing to display it.
It's been rejected in most places I've tried - mutterings about insurance, grounds of taste, frightening the public, that sort of thing.
doh fish me please
Glad you've got it, meliae!
have you tried the british museum? or maybe Harrods!
a good morning all
last 3, in 5/12, LI 5/14 and finally, re5/14
morning Sprite!!
Hi, sprite and Haz
nm got the re
Not yet. Mr Al Fayed may just be the one to appreciate extravagent nonsense.
Good morning sprite.
morning sprite
extravagant nonsense can have its own right of existing, if you ask me (I know, you did not)
madam tussauds wont they want it ?
lol Sprite
In Mr Al Fayed's case, I'm not so sure.
woot, I love the crowd :)
Madame Tussauds were very stiff about the whole thing.
lol Haz
Haz, they were just holding their breathe in awe
Yes, the dress has provoked sharp intakes of breath all round.
*breath. (Is breathe the verb?)
Yes, you breathe breath.
I'm abit upset this morning; the wedding dress programme was due to be repeated last night on ITV 2 - but they didn't show it!
slinking off back to the grid too much laughing my face is aching and cant see the grid for the tears... beancounters do not laugh much too serious for that .. back to the grid
thanks :) I have to learn now, I am seriously considering translating my own book and Ata promised she will read the result and tell me where I am being outlandish :)
Poor loredana!
help please with the LI 5/14 the 2nd one its my last word
*hugs lore*
Zen - you would find the offending programme on youtube. But take a tranquiliser first.
woops, my only li5 so far is 10... I go hunt :)
The only li5/14 I have refers to a shortened term for language.
To rhyme with Mr Starr of the Beatles.
lol... if that is the word, I bet meliae is now repeating it starting B :D
I have that one
I thought you might.
darn
I didn't! Thank you, Haz.
and thanks HaZ
(hit capslock at the end, sorry)
they didnt, did they, Zen! Obviusly was considered too traumatising
hey Ata *hug*
yay got it
does the happy dance
hello Ata
Congratulations, Meliae!!!
wooooot meliae! Congrats on the fireworks and the word... and could you please clue it for me? :)
Well done meliae!
my eyes are bleeding lol
argh... horrendous image
woopee!! mel well done
got caught up reading accounts of the insides of ferrets and wondering where my blutack was. and now I have to go in a minute to be de-stitched
li+ my brain is ***b from staring at this grid for 4 hours lol
Yes Ata, I think so..
I am glad, Ata, I bet you will feel better unstitched.
Thanks, meliae
great clue, meliae, thanks
li+ i hope they ***b it for you before they take out the stitches
li5/14 - looks like a latin version of a straight thing going between two points.
Or the floor covering, take out the letters between the start and the finish.
Hope the de-stitching goes okay, Atalante.
oh wow, this is funny. I entered a very dutch word just for fun (and because I HAVE come to know enable and its surprises) and it takes! GL6/27.
usually destitching isn't as bad as one fears. Hope the same for you, Ata.
li6- going in a straight li4
My memories of de-stitching are that when they stitch you up, anaesthesia is available. Not so for the reverse process.
we shall see ... exactly, Haz!
now I have an hour and half until meds I should of went slower lol
then I wish you a repetition of my memory... I was really scared and told them to tell me when they would start, and they said... it is done already.
lucky you!!
meliae: sudoku?
this may sound weird but the few times I have had stitches they actually felt good getting them out, it seemed to ease the itchiness
yes, it was a 13 cm long wound, so I was really scared.
I have a hard time playing that online it takes me forever to solve one
anyway Ata: will be thinking of you and if they hurt you, I will kick the offender where it hurts them, ok?
last time it rmember it hurt like heck, so it can't be any worse this time!
well, you have 90 minutes, LOL
lol sprite
I have them in the corssword puzzle book I subsribe too and it takes me a few days of working on them back and forth
as long as it amuses you and helps you pass waiting time at work, I'd say go for it ;)
You could work on your word collection, meliae
there is a qu5 number of L words in the grid today
That's a good Irish use of the term, Zen - or Ballymena at any rate.
now I am wondering which qu5 that is! The silent one, the part of a geometrical form one or the one I don't have yet!
Tired now. Goodbye all!
The geometrical form one. The other one is French.
Yes, it's a good Ballymena word, n'est pas?
Bye Jellen, sleep well.
thanks Haz :)
is the french one also 5?
It is, it's qu5 and handy.
No, think of your platforms in stations.
thanks again, got them now. Q greyed, lol.
Or by the waterside.
bye jellen see you soon
hi folks, toughest grid I've played for a while
I lay down my sword and shield... down by the riverside...
Yes, I use it a qu5 lot of the time
hey Colhad
Hello Colhad - we always use words like challenging for these types of grid. It doesn't give away what you really think!
grin Haz! Or you can just say it stinks, and give up pretense. I admire people who do that to challenging grids like these.
hello Col
hi Sprite, hi Haz
hi Loredana
I'm all for calling a spade a spade.
I've had to resort to morewords.com a lot earlier than I would've liked
if it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, talks like a duck...

Morning all, haven't started yet, just been reading the chat
quack quack Sprite lol
.... probably enable will call it an emphlytherictient

hi ExWren
An implement to facilitate the movement of earth from one location to another?
Good morning ExWren. Has the chat fired you with enthusiasm for starting?
very good Haz Spangle gave you a clue huh?
a thing on cards, lore?
She's great at the sign language.
Not yet Haz, I can only see the silent Q!
how many tail wags for that one
the other two are clued very recently, ExWren!
Oh, it's paws. She sits on her back end and waves her paws eloquently in the air.
oh, like the moles in Duncton, Haz!
could someone give a clue for in5/12 please??
in5/12 - a word meaning to accustom
in plus the container for ashes, change the final consonant for a vowel.
of course how silly of me much more ladylike
ty haz
You're welcome.
anyone seen scrabbler lately
She was on yesterday, loredana.
I confess I can't see the 3rd qu...
I can't even find 7s... how on earth can this grid contain 8s??? Looks like a real fun grid indeed.
so she is well then and her kids must be okay
one is 4 letters, Zen, 2 are 5.
qu plus two vowels, Zen.
sprite i found one sheer luck though

lol... glad I am not the only one
could someone give a clue for ce6/27 please??
not me Ata
not me either Ata
hope she's ok
loredana, change one consonant in the etna word, you will get a belchy verb, it can be made into a gerund for er8
Atalante, she's still blogging on her site.
thanks Haz didnt see that one
owwww thanks Haz
oh good! now, I must go. back in a bit :)
You're welcome!
I am very happy the gerund ending IS used... I tried invain for at least 6 words.
*good vibes go with Ata*

And Zen went eating, I think.
He was eating last time he was on! - must be worms

Loredana - cheap and nasty and breed like rabbits - but they are my favorites - I love the variations and they have the best song
I don't think I would have found it without you, Haz.

Hi GreenBay
Hello greenbay.
good evening everyone
hello ardilla
Hello ardilla
hi there Ardilla
Whew, so now there's lots of red white and blue flags, just not all from the same country ;)
hello JB
Hi Ardilla & JBs
Morning, lor & lynx!
hi JBS
greenbay, ardilla, peri, HAZ!
Thanks for the im8 - I didn't even look at the grid to start, just went right to the chat for clues!
Hello JB!
Lor, I'm from New Hampshire (northeastern US), and our state bird is the Purple Finch. Cheeky little things!
quilt is not in the grid - which had me a bit confused as I had found all the Qs (duh!)
stop drinking the pineapple juice lynxxx!!! lol
lynxx, I've got 2 q's - the singular geometric shape and the hush - clue me the other one, please?
OK its revolting anyway - I go get some coffee
*sigh* no clue for me, so I'm going for coffee, too!
qu4.7 - an alternate spelling of a word that ends in sometimes vowel
qu plus two vowels to make a French platform
JBs just doesn't appreciate how slow 2 finger typing is! back in a bit
Whee! the monkey wins! TY, lynxx & Haz!
ar 4/4
un6/24 - the activity of the musical instrument saboteur?
ar4/4 is a rearrangement of the animal's den, or the track that trains run on.
Back shortly.
LOL, Haz, I like the saboteur clue!
does anyone still have the im8 clue?
G Morning! It's a (old-fashioned) skin condition/disease, bichon
thanks Jb, have bad memories of that
I'm afraid to ask, bich!
morning/ afternoon.is babble behaving herself today?
not me, my son. when he was little he had it on the thumb he sucked on. the dr. told me to keep it ddry!
So far, carleekat!
hello carlee
Oh, poor thing - both of you, bichon!
good.... after yesterday's burps... I simply gave up completely
hi lore
go...
back later time to feed the kids enjoy the grid still have 17 to go
hmm, I was NOT typing a word in this box, really!
im8 - im, add a domesticated companion animal, then three letters indicating a personal departure.
Somehow the chatterbox imp took over when I was typing: I've reached my time limit and have to GO...
Great clue, Haz!! See you all later tonight!
Time to GO? See you later JB!
(look lower in the chat, Haz) not making much sense before coffee, need the caffeine wash over the brain cells! *poof*
Bye for now!
Hi Carlee
hi lynxx... sorry...am buried in a bit of research at the moment...
ar 7/28
didn't see u there... the company my husband works for is threatening to go union... and we cannot stand the things
ar7/28 - ar plus a vowel then American hours of darkness
TY Haz
You're welcome.
ty has
ty Haz
No problem, greenbay.
ceriium certie
cerium cering
Good morning inge.
te8.60 does anyone need it?
Hi Inge
Don't yield!
inge, do you do wate aerobics? I do
*water aerobics
ooh..inge I love the new icon ( research done for now)
stitches are out!
And was it sore?
Hi Ata...itchy?
yes LOL. but ok.
That's good.
ah..becks scored his first goal last nite with his new team
did you see my new hobbit pic? that was her best "please give me your last baklava" face!
I love it. Just the right levels of entreaty there.
she does it soooo well
She still didn't get the baklava, though.
she usually does. well, with most other things. but baklava is MINE
As long as you can live with yourself.
oh..ata I have a great baklawa recipe
just about
easy beasy to make
oh really? it looks hellishly complicated to make! oh really????!!
good god NO
wow. illusions shattered happily
when we do our dinners there are 3 of us that get together to make enough baklawa for 1000 diners
can u gt filo dough?
or phyllo
or 100 hungry spaniels
unrip until
*looks plaintively at Haz* we can get filo pastry, can't we? I've never bought pastry!
is in frozen section here... if u can get it..... baklawa is a breeze...the bakeries WAY overcharge for it cus it looks complicated
I'm pretty sure we can
lol Atal - you're a sad case
ok..I willpost a recipe for it... back in a bit...mind... my "ammounts" are "general" as I am used to making it in BIG batches.... so taste the filling as you go ....I presume u can get rose water too?
Yes, Atalante, we can get filo pastry here.
yes, I know we can get rose water!
Yay - Baclawa recipe coming! I am soooo excited
okie kokie..gone to post a baklawa recipe
cu 5/18
TY carlee!
cu5/18 adds the gerund or the present participle ending
argh this itches like MAD
whats have you done ata?
A reverse boob job on her back. She's made medical history.
hi all..having lunch
ooooooooohhh...my partner has been trying to convince me of that for ages..lol
lmao yes. haz is completely right. ish.
just had stitches out from having a lump chopped out of my back. and its ITCHING
Ish, such a useful warning. It means, don't believe a word I say.
Ish is great. It can mean anything
Would a shower ease the itch Atal? or maybe some nice person could rub some cream or oil into the area
It probably drives statisticians mad.
im having a lovely day..two of my autistic charges made communication with me for the first time
That's wonderful, rolin! What made the breakthrough?
as clever as Hobbit is, I dont think she could manage that :) ITCHING it would help, but ..... maybe I've got some calamine somewhere
That must have felt so fantastic Rolin
Or E45?
oh, yes, I have some of that. brb. and that's wonderful, rolin!
Right, I must take myself off to have a wander with the canine. Back later!
ok..baklawa posted...
bye Haz & Spangle
Thankyou so much Carlee - copied
wow, I think even I could manage something like that
wow that was quick lynxxx..mind that the QUICK way....arabs would be ticked I use honey but was an egyptian woman who taught me that method...soooooo
if u can make banaffee... u can make baklawa
so..i have found 12 words thus far..this is NOT looking good people
what would they use instead of honey?
u make a syrup of water and sugar with a bit of lemon in it
Carlee - do you perchance have a recipe for Greek Baklawa type thingees....the filo is coiled (like a snail), usually about 1.5-2 inches in diameter, and has chopped pistachio nuts in it?
I do both ways..if am making FOR arabs.... I make with syrup... if am just making en mass or for "canadians" I use honey... the greeks use honey... arabs make syrup
oh yes, of course. yumminess
its the same stuff lynxxx... just different presentations....
use more layers of filo...( melted butter spread between each layer )
Oh good - I'll tackle your recipe first then and then experiment...TY again
use pistaccios instead of walnuts
its all baklawa...
and what about the honey-soaked semolina-y stuff that looks like little pieces of cake?
u will get "same tase" making the way I describe..just substituting pistacios...
g'day
that presentation is less "messy" and more manageable for a crowd... no layers pulling apart no nuts falling all over
that is basboussa
ah I've never managed to work uot what it was called!
is lke corncake...only instead of cornmeal you use semolina... and you make the syrup... ( means much kisses..litterally translated )
Hi iitry
and u press a blanched almond in the place that would be centre of each serving
and even Xitry!
hi xitry
Hello again all - back to find 73 - yikes
hey..I have been ehre an hour ursh and I have found 14 words thus far
15 rather
Hi Ursh....yeah, there seems to be a solid brick wall at halfway
thats because you've been making us drool with recipes!
u mean there is only 30 words to the grid lynxxx????
The more i stare at the grid the more sure i am it is a mistake - there cant still be 73 words in there!!
i didn't start it ata..i was NOT the first one to mention baklawa
Fireworks.
*grins* sorry!
Oh carlee - please can you be here by Saturday am - my son's 21st - have to feed and water 50 ppl
our local farm shop has just started having baklava, and also wonderful things like bastillas and lovely lovely flat breads
Congrats Angel!
ummmm.... no..I can't but what are you serving?..I might have ways to addapt it to large crowds
<POMPOM TWIRL> for angel
best way to do salad ( garden salad ) is..you know those under bed plastic storage bins that are clear with a solid coloured lid?..mix it all up in those
Darn - never mind - will stick to plan of roast beef - bread rolls and salad - "make your own roll" no plates or cutlery required - beer in one hand roll in the other
food processer is a must
OH.. I have a wicked recipe for a pull apart meat you roast for long time..am planning to do for our neighbourhood christmas party....
so instead of "slicing " the meat... its fallen apart...less work... and the sauce is great on bread with the meat
I have a "catering" friend - who is doing the food for me ' thank goodness - but l like the idea of falling apart meat - i dont like meat underdone
this way..don't have to worry about other garnishes so..only slice and dice the veggies in your salad instead of doing tewice
ok..well hollar when / if you want the beef recipe sometime....I don't have on top of head I have to look it up... loads of "stuff to add' thenyou cook for 6-8 hurs in a slow oven
would love it carlee - email on profile - tx
okie kokie... will do in a day or so... i know approx where recipe is...but will take a bit of digging toget to it
to get
clue for ea 6/24
jewelry for your lobes
oops meant en 6/27
working on that 1 now
er6.24 e + one of The Beatles - still living!
what a weird word!
wow..i have 30 words
i have 27..
I have 85, but thats hours of struggle
at this rate I should be done in about 8 hours
this is an all day grid
ae6 plz?
en 6/18 something that entails the whole
ae4/4 + I see
ae6.21 ...ae4.4 plus most of frozen water
ae6..ae4 + 2/3 of frozen water
v. cute Atal

I do like a man who enjoys his food!
Ooh er, what a shame you are a tad afar

good morning babblers!
hi charm
Hi, carleekat.
( hey..everyone..i reached that 70 word threshold....and sweating buckets with this grid..cripes )
The old one is anglican I think - very dark dour and dreary building it is too
Charlotte - if you don't recognise our flags, click on the icons/pictures to see our details
oh yes sorry
were do you get the pictures and the flags?
you need to upgrade to pro
ok..walking away for a bit

go6.30 ends like the common flower - a gera****
Good morning.
Hi Scrabbler
morning scrabbs!!
A while ago for me too, i only had a short time to spend; want to go back and spend a whole day there.
er8.55 er + blow your own tr***** - add a consonant before the last letter.
er8.80 gerund end on the er5.14
Oh my gosh----that er8 is really a word! As I typed it I thought I must be wrong.
Oh dear, it is a gerund grid, huh?
would I lie to you Scrabbler?
thats one way of putting it, scrabs
What cathedral are you referring to?
No, lynxx, but I thought I must be interpreting the clue wrongly.
Liverpool
catholic one
I love old churches---the history, the spirits within.
i dont get er855 and im still working on er880
i guess that should be Catholic
it could be a catholic Catholic one
hi who wants to hav sex
I found er8 but I don't "get" it.
Code Red, people.
no thanks, we're all good catholic Catholics here
I am a good Roman Catholic girl myself.
ty for the 8/55
i thought so scrabbler!!
ohmygod er8/55 describes the terrifying scene in "Alien" . . . "projecting from or bursting through host tissue"
The coffee must be taking effect--I just saw the QU tile, LOL.
hi babblers
its a nice little Qu tile today
Lil--I was born on the Blessed Virgin Mary's birthday and I have lived up to it thus far, LOL.
yes, it is qute
Welcome, Charlotte.
LOLOL Scrabbler
hello charlotte!!
hints for the O word?
hi everyone! : )
hey TO :-)
My alter ego is Sister MAry Pediatrica--I am a nun AND a pediatrician. My friend and I made a funny video last summer starring me as the nun.
Hi Owl and Une.
scrabbler, that sounds hilarious!!
on5.14 is along the lines of the vege that makes you cry
G'morning everyone
does the er 8/55 have a gerund end
scrabs, let's start our own order...dedicated to contemplation. of the daily grid.
The coffee has, however, not reached peak levels yet, as I am typing qu + u and getting rejected.
Hi Nono
thanks lynxxx
golfer, no it doesn't
LOL, Owl, yes, The Holy Contemplative Order of Babble Grid Worshippers.
it ends in pe4/5
er 8/55
hows about the lonely i on the bottom? or the E on the right? those tiles are taunting me!
anyone have either of the two en's?
lol Scrabbler typing quilt over and over this morning made me want to crawl back in bed with my own quilt
er8= e + ru4 (arse) + when one feels remorse one rep***s
from the I on the bottom comes the im8=skin desease!!
eva, im8/60 skin disease
Eva the i is im8 an old time skin disorder
im8.60 a skin disease - Scrabbler will know this one
thanks une and nono -- i actually HAD that once!!
we could dedicate ourselves to helping the babble addicted
en6/18 the whole thing
why do people call it "old time" children get it today
Haha, I see im8 almost everyday in the office.
yw . . . and eeewww
Yes, Owl, and we would pray for them at appointed hours.
TO, a 12-step Babble addiction program . . . how entertaining that could be LOL!!
yeah, i had a time in middle school where i was hit with like 3 or 4 different ailments at once... i was not a pretty picture...
thanks Une
yw :-)
gotta go bye
In fact my grandaughter currently has it from scratching her eczema
Great idea, Une! But the goal cannot be to stop playing Babble---for me it is a relaxing, social addiction, that also increases my word power. It has made me a better Scrabbler.
Did our troll go away that quickly?
I think it goes hand in hand with ezcema qu*** a lot
oh, puh-leeze . . . NO ONE would get thru the whole 12 steps!!
Of course not, Une, we would be here most of the time instead of in the program.
oh goodie..did I miss a troll?
only a 1 line troll
Someone propositioned us, Carlee. First time in my life--what a thrill.
wow....how did that happen?
gotta run . . . BBL
hmmm... well... glad I missed it..I think
Bye Une !
bye unea!!
We scared him (steve p) off by mentioning that we were Catholic.
later une
see you later, all!
Bye Owl--enjoy the day.
ah..well...am not catholic...so... good hting I missed him
bye TO
I even went to a convent school
Bye T Owl
For education or to become a nun?
before i go, does anyone else think "hedonite" should be a word?
apparently, education
Sounds good to me, Owl.
isnt it hedonist?
we had yellow uniforms, and had to go to days of repentence every term where we had to meditate for 4 hours (this was when I was 10!)
morning all
yes owl, i will accept hedonite
Well, Ata, some women enter a convent and decide against continuing on.
I wanted impecune to be a word, too.
I think it has an ...ist end T Owl
Hi Doren.
Catholic boarding school for me!
for me its doglice
i have ER8 x2, im8, TE8 -- whats my missing 8?
lol Lideola
oh yes, but this was junior and senior school only
lideola--TY for the li4 clue.
So, how was it Zen?
Lu8.60 Eva
hey doren! really must go. 13 years of nuns for me, inclduing all girls' high scholl
and purple uniforms!
i like this grid. my name is in it... hey owl
I need te8 and the one you are missing, Eva.
what is it with boys catholic boarding schools and purple uniforms? the boys equivalent of my school had purple too
te 8 is a gerund of te 5/14 scrabs
te 8 is what nuns have to overcome
te8 lead us not into te****ation with gerund ending
hi everyone
Got 'em, Doren--I am still getting intimate with the grid.
tedium?
when you want something badly, it is said to be Te******
thanks lynxxx -- what a word!!
bloody hell what kind of word is that lu8...
been asking after you today scrabbler hows the kids and yourself of course
OK, now help with lu8 please?
can't fing the lu8???
oh crap...how thehell to clue it
*patiently waiting*
well, it starts out with the LU4/5 instrument
Ghastly, Scrabbler - run by hypocritical sadistic puerile priests who took pleasure in beating and humiliating the kids whenever possible.... and thats only the start of it
give it your best shot, carleekat
was that in Ireland, Zen?
I often wonder why people send their children to those schools
take the lu4 above it ( the musical instrument) + 2/3 froce water backwards+ and the sound we make when we are clueless
lu8.60 lu** (musical instrument) + vowel + and cal*** makes bones/teeth strong
yes Ata, N I
frozen * water
that works lynxx
Oh, loredana--I am so glad you are here. I talked to Jacula last night. Bunny Callie is dribbling pee again, and it is milky. I think her bladder sludge is back, which means a metabolic problem with calcium. She is happy and active and eating well. The last vet bill was almost $900. She is 7 yrs old this week. Do I leave her be and be a happy old rabbit, or should I carry out aggressive and expensive vet care??? I wil speak with my vet later.
en 6/27?
ty for the 8s
oh callie!
hi feather
feather, you're back at Babble again, congrats
not only lots of *ing words but lots and lots of *um words tonite
hi feather. how are you and the boys?
en 6/27 is the whole thing

hi Feather and Congrats!!!
oh, sweet
TY---the 8's are done!!
waiting 4 doug to eat so i can go shower
Sorry to hear about Callie's problems Scrabbler. It is really hard to make those kind of decisions
i have er, im, lu and te... which 8 am I missing, please?
2x er8's
dorens there are 2 er8's
im8 ?
Hi Dorens - there is er8.60 & er8.55
thanks nono
Give Nick a snuggle from Dr Lynda/Scrabbler. Tell him to be a good baby as he is getting plenty of love and mommyjuice.
er8/60 and er855
i am off all.. this grid is not interesting me today.... perhaps tomorrow will be better
got our ped visit this am
Making decisions for our beloved pets is SO hard.
bye bye carlee and thanks for posting the recipe!
bye Carlee!
Bye Carlee--enjoy the day.
( yes they are scrabs... been there ..done that...have the heart aches to show for it )
one of the toughest decisions most of us ever have to make-- best wishes scrab
u all enjoy the day too...
yes, bye carlee. see you tomorrow
Yes, it reminds me of all past decisions and grieving with past pets. And hamster Oliver has a big tumor growing on his back so he will not last much longer.
Loredana--where did you go? I need bunny advice.
im8 = skin disorder
Yuck, I just saw the un combo--as bad as re's.
mung is SO a word
ty
Sounds right to me, Doren.
8s done yay
kind of bean...
126 left lol
Yahoo featherbee, and good work helping, Nicholas!
You are getting closer, Featherbee. I have been here 40 min and have found just 47--it is not an easy grid.
i got some at 3am too
Feather, congratulations, I see you have added a new babbler, welcome to Nicholas and hi to Daniel!
no, it really isn't an easy one. i've hit a wall with 63 left and was going to try do go listless, rethinking that one
ty annie
The evilness of Catholic priests ignored by Scrabbler, I see
Every 2-3 hrs, I bet, Feather. BTW, I checked your blog and saw photos--very cute, esp Daniel holding Nick.
my listless days are over 4 a while
he's been SOOO sweet
Sorry, Zen, I had meant to comment back there. Yes, a horrible experience in the name of God.
Scrabbler, Yes, it is a tough decision but knowing how much you love Callie you will make the right one between you and the vet. Give Callie a big hug and kiss for me
scrabbler I did check this out on the net when Callie had it before, if left untreated does anyone know the outcome, a 2.5kg rabb it requires 510mg cal per day article worth looking at Scrabbler gives the calcium provider groupings so you can adjust her diet accordingly it is at www.houserabbit.co.uk article written by claire king I always find the vets usually recommend treatment, but i honestly do not think they know a lot seem to want to treat them with feline treatments
My mother told me the story of my grandmother (her mom) who grew up in Italy. My uncle(mom's bro) was not allowed to be an altar boy because my grandmother knew what happened to many boys with priests.
So Italian priests are guilty as well?
congratulations on the arrival of Nicholas Heather
i think its an international thing- not just a USA thing
TY, Annie and Loredana. I checked out www.rabbit.org (USA site), and stopped kale for the bunnies. I will check it out, loredana.
ty
It is a powerful inditement of the "religious" life, scrabbler
nicks een starving this am!!!
Doren, my mother only told me that story a few yrs ago--my grandmother was born in Italy in 1894 and came to the US in 1912 or so. Interesting, and frightening.
Quite so, scrabbler. But I guess it's no surprise that this has been happening everywhere, for long time. Just weren't aware of it until recently... but I'm sure others were. I can understand silence though, the church is powerful in many ways
Yet, there are noble, holy priests--I know many. It is sad that some stain the whole.
Is he feeding on both sides, feather, or just one so far?
That is true, and probably the majority are worthy men, too.
Scrabbler, why are such a high percentage of Catholic priests plainly evil ?
depends really
he falls asleep after 1 a lot more so at night
its been goingon for over a thousand years, but its only recently that it hasn't been seen as a stigma or taboo to put it out in the open
And what does that say about that unholy institution?
yes, that makes sense lideola.
hes doing a bit better this am at emptying... milks in now too
Power corrupts Zenmed
its not just teh catholic church though
after 1 side not 1am
zen, not sure that is a proven fact. around here, we had a rabi convicted of molesting his nephew for years as well as an anglican priest nabbed for child porn. a pedophile is a pedophile.
lynxxx very good comment
see that pineapple juice was good for you lol
not to mention all of the coahes, many married with families.
Evil people are present throughout society--we all know of them, and I work with a few.
Precisely lynxxx, so why on earth should anyone have the slightest regard for anything said in the name of any organised religion
LOL and how is mr. head?
Loredana--I have bookmarked the site and scanned Claire King's article--I will read it in depth later. TY for your help!!
Dr Richard Head repulses me daily with his behavior. I avoid him whenever possible.
because for 1,950 of the past 2000 years, the church has been not only a source or religion, but a source of law- for many places there wasn't (and still isn't) a separation of church and state.
zen, i respect allof the fine people i have known who have chosen the religious life. God cleaned house out of respect for them, as i see it. and has taken down some of the high and mighty as well, who turned a blind eye.
there was/is no choice
Churches are only just beginning to face the problem. Many of us now have established protocols that include ensuring no adult is EVER alone with a child, and the two adults cannot be relatives. We all have to admit to problems and take steps to protect children. As several of you have noted, there are problems with abuse of power by coaches, lawyers, pastors, you name it. We all have to take responsibility.
I have seen it referred to as "ordinary evil"--the daily evil that abounds in daily life committed by so many people.
Many doctors are also unethical and evil, but that doesn't mean you can't trust anything said by anyone on the medical field.
Morning all. Uh oh. We're talking politics AND religion. Never a good combo.
interesting chat to watch!
my belief survives. however, i have always known the clergy as people, part of the family and community, with allof the foibles of man
Oh, dear, look at the time--I have to get ready for work! Great comments by everyone on a difficult topic. I seek out the good, honest people in the world, and there are MANY!! Enjoy the day everyone!
have an easy day, scrabbler and good luck with Callie
take care Scrabs, and have a great day
bye scrabs, hope you can avoid mr. head all day!
its not just children either- its anyone in a diminished capacity- the elderly, the mentally challenged. wherever there is an opportunity or even a slight chance for abuse it will happen
The power thing isn't peculiar to religion though Zenmed. Me personally, I'm not religious, but I respect others right to chose their form of belief to give meaning to (their) life. Different strokes for different folks
Yes Vicuna, but doctors dont set themselves up to tell people how to live their lives- that is the point
lol i just think that the chat is much more interesting than the board today- THIS BOARD STINKS
His internal emotional conflicts manifest themselves with this odd snorty sound he makes--it increases when he is around me as I don't put up with his crap.
i agree, lideola!
i've worked with dozens of physicians with little or no regard for other people. BUT i've worked with hundreds of doctors who are wonderful caring people. good with the bad, but the good remains in the majority.
Oh, I wish I could stay, but I must go.
ok, i have QU5/16 x2 -- whats my missing QU?
qu4/7
good for you Scrabbler enjoy your day hugs for Lynda,Callie,Sebastian,Gandalf and Tucker see you again soon take care
thanks ata
People need to be informed "consumers" of religion just like anything else. Use your judgement, don't tolerate hypocrisy, and you will find plenty of wonderful role models and teachers.
Aah, just remembered I gotta go pick up a car - please excuse me....
Later, Zenmed.
lol Zenmed - you are just sneaking out for more food aren't you
see you again soon Zen

Sorry, Atalante, daughter was on phone there - yes, Spangle had a nice walk.
awww happy dogs all round
Yes, she's busy attacking a rawhide thing and there is the prospect of a long walk with husband - if the rain stays away.
Is your back still itchy?
husbands are very good for long walks
no thank goodness. and its blissful not to have the stitches pulling!
Oh good, you're on the mend, then.
yes, definitely!
speaking of "on the mend" -- anyone heard from/about Mr P lately?
li 6/18
saw her here yesterday, she seemed pretty bouncy
I'm just looking back at the chat from flip time - she was on, having been out for lunch and seemed in good form.

May I please have a clue for the Ru 5,14 ?

I have been stuck at 18 left forever UGH
could i get a clue for the on word?
good morning all! how's the grid? (thanks for the word bubba) :-)
like a crying vegetable, harp
oh, thanks!
Thanks, Ata. I feel so much better about the U's now! UHG
lol want me to tell you they are really horrid, too?
Hmmph. Don't bother. I just assumed. I have 4 somewhat normal ones. All down hill from here.
*wishing I hadn't started this grid...* oh well *grabs 1 lb chocolate bar and soldiers on*
well at least 6 are normal ...
There is no "normal" in Babble.
I'm going to run away for a bit and dance in the rain. well, something like that. back later!
good morning babblers
later Atalante! *offers froggie wading boots*
{{{{flosey}}}} it's lovely and sunny down here... and the blueberries are ripe! Tom picked nearly a cup from the bushes this morning!
mmmm blueberries I love them
hi stid, no sun here yet but yes, blueberries ripening and also blackberries
*holds out bowl of blueberries* we have patriot, olympias and another variety I can't remember
the blackberries are still pretty sour around here -- not enough good sunny days yet. Fine for baking, but *yuck face* not great for eating
May I please have a clue for the Rh 7 ??
mmm thanks stid
I don't know them by name stid - will have to ask the farmer
I - um - not sure about the ending, kristine. *giggles then runs off*
have been getting the nicest local blueberries lately they are so nice and big
ah! found a canning word! :-)
get back here Ata lol
yes, local blueberries seem to be best -- mostly I think because you get them at the freshest and ripest -- no early picking!
(that *was* a clue by the way!)
yeah i know lol working onit
miss the days when we used to go off on state land and pick wild blueberries for jams
I like the wild red huckleberries -- we have a couple bushes in our yard that do well most years, but this year? almost nothing.
I don't even know the difference between blueberries and huckleberries stid - know I've eaten both
clue for the en6.27 please
okay, I have 50 words listless -- and the cutie pie guy in my icon wants to play. Outta here until later (going shopping with Mother soon)...
Congratulate me. I just slopped coffee on my keyboard!
they're both vaccinia plants flosey, related to heathers and rhodies; I think blueberries are just human-hybridized to be sweeter and bigger. *poof*
lu 6/24
oh bummer judi
oh dear Judy, i hope not with cream and sugar?
*censored curses* Apparently I have a drinking problem.
Q-Tips to the rescue.

ah ty Carlee
Ata! How did it go? And hi all.
R + female fowl + your cran*** holds your head

elkiee welcome! the tile stats tell you how many words come from each tile in the grid
Hi Sprite, how are you today?
thanks Annie - what a strange word
hi sprite
tsssss see how blind and dense I am... I read NonoNanette for Atalante. This is stupid, I am sorry.
Ok...but why are there more that 1 for a letter
stuck on stupid and still have 14 left !
each tile state corresponds to a tile in the grid
hi Annie... not great, actually. Financial disasters happening on top of everything else, it gets scary.
ooh...light bulb!!!
Yaaaay. Finished the u's.
the number under the letter tells you how many words start from that particular letter
wtg judi
li 6/24
16 left here kris and feel same
sprite, still trouble with the mortgage? Is hubby still trying to straighten that out...can be quite trying and scary
How do people know the first 2 letters of a word...when asking for clues?
elk---scroll down and click on Lickety's babble clues, that will tell you the first two letters of the word in this grid
we found out it is NOT a computer hiccup, the insurance company just never continued the incasso after we changed our mortgage. It is their fault, but still they want their money. First thing now is to talk to the mortgage holder and see if they can give us more time for starters, and if they will accept another insurance as certainty for the mortgage.
*words
there is licketys clues list to be found towards bottom of page in the friends of babbles list
sprite, I know it is frightening and scary but it can be resolved...just one step at a time
Uhg. That happened to us once, Sprite. We refinanced and the mortgage company the new mortgage was assigned to lost the homeowners insurance info. We didn't know it until we got a cancellation notice from the insurance company for non-payment. Pain in the arse getting it straightened out.
I am a bit less panicky than yesterday. Spoke to our advisor and he said it might be possible to have that insurance totally stopped, replace it with another one and then we would not have to pay the 9000 euro.
bad thing then is, all we have already paid is lost. But I think it is better than taking on a loan now.
Ew ick. Much worse situation than mine!
Judi: that is exactly it! We have the same thing. They did not inform us on the missing payments for 3 years!
OMG! Three years! That's inexcusable. Sue their incompetent butts off!
exactly. But first of all, we need to get more time from the mortgage giver, because all other things will take time and we don't want them to cancel the mortgage because of this sh*t!
I'm sure they'll work with you Sprite. No one should be expected to come up with 9000 EU at the drop of a hat. I know I couldn't - no where near it!
can I whine for a moment? Here I am, PTSS and burnout and having panic attacks anyway. Then this happens. And then my boss informs me that A. they suspect me of working elsewhere while being sick, and B. they will be firing me soon because of a reorganisation at work. I feel like all security is falling away. God I am so scared.
he6/27 plz?
I think so too, Judi. And we asked the one who helped us get this mortgage to talk to the mortgage giver. They have more influence anyway.
(Hugs) sprite and wishes she could nip on a flight to 'Dam to to so for real.
awwwww Jac that would be so great! But your wish is almost as good, it warms my heart. *hug*
Sprite - do you have anything like The Citizen's Advice Bureau to seek advice from? We have that in UK.
Enlist all the help you can get, Sprite. Make them clean up their mistake. They should damn well pay for it to (in a perfect world). I can understand that you must be stressed beyond belief. {{{ hugs }}}
It seems to me that YOU should not have to pay or be stressed out by someone else's foul up.
Yes, I think we do, Jac. We are thinking of getting our legal assistance insurance to look into the sue-able side of the insurance company. But first we must make sure we will keep our mortgage.
he6/27 plz
MM - dunno. I've only just started the grid.
That's one of my 12 empties MM sorry !
en 6/27?
As long as the insurance company has admitted culpability, get it in writing and share it with your Mortgage holder. Can't be the first time it's happend. They should be pros at working it out with each other. You should not be inconvenienced or punished in any way.
he 6/27 medieval helmet
the bad thing is, though it is THEIR fault this went on for 3 years, it is still money we agreed to pay. It is not easy to let them pay for at least a part. We had the same with the electricity. They forgot to bill us certain costs for 2 years, but they did bill us the rest, so we did never notice. Then we had to pay that rest... got a bill of over 1500 euro this January. We are paying that off now too. It never stops.
sprite - Yes. Very wise to keep the mortgage people informed. You mustn't let the insurance people charge you for their mistake though.
we have an excuse letter from the insurance, in which they admit THEY never did the incasso for 3 years and they never informed us. That is something.
sprite - make sure you don't lose that letter. Looks like you'll be able to sue them if they don't back off just with the threat of court action.
ty kate
Excellent. You have the smoking gun. I would have your legal counsel inform the ins. co that unless they make good on the payments, you will sue them for misappropriation of funds, fraud, theft, breach of contract, damage to your credit rating and anything else you can think of to throw at them.
I don't get the helmet clue ! Can someone elaborate please ?
Judi - Good advice!
we won't lose it! And we will have our legal assistance look into it.
oh wow Judi, that sounds good. Scary, but good.
Ty. Used to work for lawyers. Guess some of it rubbed off.
sprite - You have right on your side so don't be scared.
* cape flapping in wind* I choose to use my powers only for good. :-))
LOL, Judi.
we had right on our side with the car accident and with the electricity company as well. But getting your right is sometimes more expensive than paying :(
he 6,27 anyone so I can finish this horrid thing?
I must say, sueing is not so common in the Netherlands as it is in the US of A. Not sure where the possibilities lie here.
Sorry, Carlee. Don't have that one yet.
h+french water+not you, but **
it was clued as a medievil helmet carlee , but i didnt get it
It's a medieval helmet, apparently (he6).

en 6/27?
thanks movie my man, that is a weird one!
got it thanks
Thanks, MM. New word for me.
en6= en+gl4/7
Usually, lawyers here don't charge for an initial consultation. They want to know if they have a case before they give up their valuable time. Imagine it's much the same in other democratic societies.
Well, that is NOT in my dictionary
lol
yes, I think so too, Judi. We will certainly seek legal advice on this. Thanks :)
154 and FIREWORKS!
lots of weird ones in this grid, actually
any clues on the on

hey, i need to ask you guys something - particularly people who work in business
do you know any place to find a sort of guide as to what greetings and closings are considered more and less formal?
in a letter or email i mean?
i've googled but not come up with anything specific enough.
Dear Sir/Yours faithfully = formal Dear Mr. Bloggs/Yours sincerely = more informal.
But Jacula, what if addressing a group?
not if google isn't any help ... sorry
Sirs / Madams
I was chastised this morning for starting a message to a group of 3 people of various levels of importantness with Greetings rather than Good morning
Greetings Earthlings! Just kidding with that one, hursh.
Dear Sirs (and / or) Madams
I dont think I'd use Greetings, but that sounds like a US thing
I don't mind being formal if that's what is required, but what I want to know is, how the heck was I supposed to know that "Good morning" is more formal than "Greetings"?
No, we wouldn't use 'Greetings' as an opening line here in UK.
I think greetings sounds quite formal and grave, personally, and jen acted like it was so obvious what's formal and what's not and said something about how we were taught it in school
I would never sy greetings even in an informal business setting
Would Agatha Christie use Greetings?
if i was taught about that in school i don't remember it and SERIOUSLY, let's say you're a snobby rich person, are even YOU going to get offended because someone says "Greetings"?
i don't know, agatha christie never wrote me any letters
ok cadfan - so HOW DID YOU LEARN THAT?
I personally would think it odd, but again, I'm British
i need a guide, since clearly i have no conception of what people do.
and it's not like i didn't think about it. i thought about how to word it and i really had no idea there was anything wrong with "greetings". i am completely socially inept, apparently.
Hursh - seems to me they made a mountain out of a molehill.
well, they didn't fire me over it...
i just keep running into these types of problems!
first it was, everyone seemed to use "cheers" as a closing so i thought, that must be the favored yacht industry term, so i used it, but turns out it's ok for captains, but not for owners
hurshy: http://www.businesswritingblog.com/bus iness_writing/2006/01/greetings_and_s. html
ty ata
thats all about business writing :)
http://owl.english.purdue.edu/handouts /pw/p_tone.html
ARGH
destitched, Jac?
the link thing is being mean
Hope those help, Hursh.
Honestly - I can't say how I "know" that - it's just too informal to me. I might say that personally but I'd never say it in a business setting.
Ata - Yes! Hooray. My nose is free.:)
Things in the past say - 10 years have gotten WAY more casual than when i first started working in the mid 1980's
Must go now - got a fish pie to make. BBL
woohooo! my back too
We're free, Ata! Yippee! See you later.
cadfan - this is what's driving me crazy - you "know" it and jen "knows" it and i just... don't, and i don't know what's wrong with me.
on 5?
well unless you've been exposed to business situations, I dont see why you would automatically know
I did take Business writing in College - perhaps I picked it up there - or perhaps just by experience at work.
back again - so many interruptions!
could I please have a clue for er8/55, the second er8 word?
Good afternoon/evening all.
because jen "knows" it, it makes her think i'm either being too casual on purpose, or i'm really stupid. it's very frustrating.
well explain that you're still learning these things
It's certainly nothing I'd make a big deal of - I can tell you that.
er8 - e, a dash of the pirate's drink, a helping of what contained fury is described as.
on 5?
Or, e, backside of an animal, rearrange the number after nine.
i do but i still feel so stupid. i don't want to upset a client...
wow, what a word
well then its best to say something and not upset another one in the future!
on5 - on plus the ending put on stad to gladden the heart of the athletes.
wow indeed, thanks Haz
You're welcome!
thanks Haz
Glad to help, bichon.
hi, lu8 please
Hurshy, didn't you recently move from another area? It's all complicated by regional jargon. You might explain that "greetings" would have been acceptable where you came from, and just ask for help in learning the regional language, or the language your clients expect, or whatever.
lu8/60 - use all of the musical instrument, add two letters of the American Secret Service Agency, finish with the two letters of hesitation.
ty, I'll work on it!
im8 please
im 8 is a skin disorder.
think i need a little more help on that Haz
hi everyone.. logged in just in time to profit from Haz's awesome clues.. 14 to find
im, a three lettered domesticated companion animal, then three letters that indicate a personal departure.
pastorj, i moved, yes, but only within new england, so it's not a regional thing.
Hello Aloy - nice to see you.
ditto, Haz.. lovely here today - do you still have rain?
duh, finally got there!
it's me... i'm so non-hierarchical, i just don't think about these things the way other people do. i have trouble relating to anyone on any basis other than as equals. if i am courteous and friendly, i find it hard to understand how someone could find it offensive, no matter how high their opinion of their own status.
Yes, we have blinks of sunshine, then on it comes again.
oh well, it was worth a shot! ;-> It does seem like someone was a little too anal about the choice of words.
Glad it worked, kath. (I make you struggle, don't I?)
It was a great clue, I was being thick
and i really don't mind learning, i just don't like being made to feel like i ought to have known already
Not at all, I just don't like giving it away completely.
i have er8 x2, im8, lu8, ..what am i missing pls?
clue for the er 8,60 please
hurshy - sometimes people are just unreasonable. It doesn't matter how much you try to understand, they are plain unreasonable. So smile, learn whatever lesson you can, and move on.
thanks Haz
I could use another nudge on the lu8 - can't quite make the end...
rolin, there's a word of enticement missing, te8
ty all, ttfn
I agree, hurshy dear
*slap*...fish pls...ggrrr..
lu8 - you've got the start, first two letters of the type of fruits represented by lemons, oranges, grapefruit, last two letters are those of shortened, affectionate mother.
so why isnt mung accepted???
pectin
oopps...sorry
i agree, rolin.. mung beans
er8/60 is the gerund ending for the belchy er5/14
first lu6 please
But add a vowel to the non-acceptable beans.
ty
oh, THANKS!!!!!!!!
lu6/24 - reach a nervous twitch by means of another vowel.
You're welcome, Cadfan.
Haz ... non-acceptable beans. What were you clueing?
thanks Haz, I love your clues they make a person think
If you scroll back, Merk they were saying that mung as in the beans wasn't accepted. Add a vowel, and it is mu5/18.
Thanks pabtrek - I enjoy doing the clues so glad you like them.
I see, ty
ra4,4?? feels like ive tried everything!
Haz another clue for lu8!
I also love your clues, Haz.
nite
oops ... into the penalty box ... any crackers left there?
lu8 - start with the instrument, a letter that relates to sight, then the ending put on stad to make a place where the athletes run.
lol, thought you were leaving, Merk ! ra + i can't play the p**no, but i wish i could
deb - r + 3 vowels
thats a real babblet
ra4/4 - ra, then two vowels.
Thanks Merk - quick wave to the penalty box!
finally, thanks
remember that one, deb
i'll try. i am starting to remember some strange things!
yes, I always used to miss that babblet, but now I recognize it
hello all!!
Hello pink.
hi there pinhat!
t
hi haz!!
inge's being very economical with her typing.
hello aloy!!
minimalism, the theme of the day
missed a lot of words with "ic" at then end .. fireworks.. and its off to weed my flower beds..
Congratulations Aloy - enjoy the garden.
anyone know if there is a video today? nothing coming up yet..
Yay congrats Aloy and evening all
I'm pretty sure there is. I have to confess that I rarely watch them.
Hello FMitch - work done for the day?
would g'nite fall into informal greetings / goodbyes?
Hello Haz, yes No more work today :)
ok, I will log on later and check.. hey there, FMitch! You would have to be coming on while I am leaving.. :-( oh well, good to see you..
Is this for hurshy, Atalante?
just making random words from the grid!
You could spare the weeds for a few more minutes, Aloy.
That's just sloppy typed that way Ata. Hi Aloy, nice to see you even if you are just going.
gnite would be an ennobled gnome.
They're terribly snobby, only the best gardens will do.
LOL :) are they er8 on these lawns?
It all depends on which er8....
Haz, you have amazing grey matter.. (-: See you all next grid ! *POOF*
Pity the porr gnome place in the wrong place, he would never live it down in gnome society.
true. er8/55
Hi all, back to find my last 22
Some would say I have a twisted mind, Aloy, you are so much kinder.
I just applied for a job at Chicos.
Is there upward mobility for gnome nobility?
The te8 is killing me...
hi peri!!
its called going to a garden on a hill
hi there pink!
Don't let it kill you. It's just the gerund/present participle stuck on a word that makes you want to do something (te5)
Haz that sounds like a great title for an ode to gnomes
hi peri, pink, haz, ata
sounds like a trippy phase Beatles song title
I'll have to work on it. The ode to gnomes, I mean.
hints on these M words? i have 4, but the others are hiding...
hi deb, fmitch, duck, and ata!!
Can't wait Haz.... and yes it does Ata, stitches out OK?
yes fine. hurt, but fine
ooh, video came on as I was leaving.. fascinating..byeeee
for one m I have "MMMMMMM*****, gets the red out"
he6 please
clue for ru5/12 please, the last ru word
nm, got it
Evanadine - you probably have the qu5 words (M). Some of the others relate to French for wall - or the beginning of a painted wall, if you're not familiar with the Fr.
NM found it
he6 - h, plus the French forerunner to cologne or toilette, then the beginning of 'Hail Fellow, well **t'
wait, what do the QU words have to do with the Ms?
great clue as always, Haz, but I found it in morewords, thanks though
oh, heh, i get it now...
qu5 indicates that some things are soft in sound, therefore they could be mu4/6.
That's where I found it as well, peri!
Fireworks
thanks Haz for great clues
Congratulations!
that he word is just ridiculous
You'll hurt its feelings.
Congrats flosey
YAY flosey!!! Hi all

I find myself at times losing a grasp of what words constitute my 'real' vocabulary.
egads, you mean to tell me that you don't use "jskywwque" all the time?
Imagine the sort of grid needed to fuel the letters for 'gobbledeygook'
cu5/18, anyone?

I try not to, Braves, lest others question my sanity.

Hi Ata & everyone - back to finish off after watching the Wicker Man
ooo love that film
Me toooooo; one of the greats of UK film...
Chris Lee is just *fab*
and Lindsay Kemp as the landlord as well
oh yes
yet another thing we have in common then....
you just need a spaniel. every babbler's best accessory
;
prefer a border collie actually; spaniels are too lugubrious
mine's quite unlugubrious really
maybe not all then, but is it as beautiful and intelligent as a border collie ?
well, I think so ... less manic, certainly
afternoon all
hello all! my goal today is halfway... for which I need about 27 words! :-D
hey stiddy
hi stid and moo
hey stidder!
dog theme today?
hey moo! I have the shepher for your sheep!
yeah, but my sheep is armed
that should read shepherD. obviously. we need a border collie over here to fix my spelling...
We had the most beautiful terrier-border collie cross when i was a child; I still miss that dog 30 years later...
hey nut -- we never talked about colors or anything for the babblecast icon...
my best friend has a border collie / heeler cross, and boy that dog is gorgeous
what is a heeler? would it behave better on walks? *innocent look as she tugs on shepherd's harness*
Whats a heeler Ata?
ermm ... maybe .... Australian cattle dog / blue heeler
oh stid...i'm thinking very very pink.
a heeler is what frans daughter needs
they are lovely dogs. stocky and big and very protective
why does "noire" count and "nuit" doesn't? tres tres mauvais avec! LOL
pink it is then! :-)
wahoo...order of the pink pirates rules again
is there an easy way to enter words from lickety's clue page into the word list?
yes lovejoy, there is a "bulk" add feature at the bottom of that page
there are instructions, too (somewhere around there)
yeah stid, I got them all on my clipboard, i just dont know how to get them into my list from there
who are we that we need instructions...?
even easier, of course, is using the "Lickety Browser" which operates nicely on windows machines
ah ha, very nice, thanks for the tip :)
do you know how to do a "paste"? I think it's hold down the control key + V and past them into the "add word" box under the grid
can i paste more than one in there?
there's a go5/14, what's the stats for the other 5?
yes, hold on a sec and I will take a quick look
you rock
at the bottom of lickety's page (the VERY VERY bottom) is a Bulk Grab feature, with two buttons. First click the one on the left, then the one on the right.
THEN you can do the ctrl-V and paste it into the babble add word box. I think. It's been a while since I did thing that way.
I only have one go 5 Ata
go Zen go!
howdee fellow addicts!! 8-)
LOL I am clueless on that one Atalante...
you have a gl5 or a gi5?
GWEN!!!!! (hi there)
gi 5

hi there stid, try to stay calm LOL
Hiya Stid!
gi5 = an argument. good meaning. I certainly argued with it

Pink
I hope the muffins will be okay *worry worry* check them carefully, Tom said the one he tried to eat yesterday (from an earlier batch) was no longer good.
glad to hear that faerie, mine are all late this year -- too much rain and cloudy skies this summer!
OK, will feed to freshmen first and observe....
I tied them up today because they are so heavy with flowers
rofl... THIS is why I left college early!
i got it figured out stid, many thanks
yes fairie, that is how they did for me, too -- if I didn't plant them in a huge mass none of them would stand up.
yw lovejoy! :-)
ty faerie, have not seen you around in awhile
Hiya Aknitter :)
oh doodie, why won't my icon change?
I'm usually in a big hurry to start and finish the grid and hardly have time to chat ~ but I miss everyone something terrible

A blonde goes into a coffee shop and notices there's a "peel and win" sticker on her coffee cup. So she peels it off and starts screaming, 've won a motorhome! I've won a motorhome!" The waitress says, "That's impossible. The biggest prize is a free Lunch.?" But the blonde keeps on screaming, "I've won a motorhome! I've won a motorhome!" Finally, the manager comes over and says, "Ma'am, I'm sorry, but you're mistaken. You couldn't have possibly won a motorhome because we didn't have that as a prize. The blonde says, "No, it's not a mistake. I've won a motorhome!" And she hands the ticket to the manager and HE reads... (wait for it...)
It was wonderful, Stid---great hikes, lots of kayaking, aaaaaahhhhhh.

it's supposed to go on for days here, i think
not so much hot as the fires are really out of control. the air is thick with smoke.
you are right! did you see that 18 wheeler underwater at 288 and 610?
we could use some here in Boston. It rained a bit outside of the city earlier this week, we only had a sprinkle, though
The rain would help with that, LBD
willing himacane dean to dawg and pam

Goodnight all.

night Nonnie
there's always women...
ren, we can share ranger...he's up to it
let me respond, hursh.........
if you think that, then it's true.
Hursh, weird has nothing to do with it, although it helps.
well that's not fair, i was born pessimistic.
Well, then adopt a more optimistic approach.
hursh....i blew a booger on mez when i first met him - i was laughing so hard - and he still loves me....
how?
You have to enjoy what you have and then good things will come....hopefully!
(how to jade, not you ren)
I need to follow your advice, too, art....
hahahhaah hurhsy!!!! i was about to tell you
psychologist? therapist? WHISKEY
Just keep believing in yourself & that there is someone there for you.......
i have someone who loves me, ren... it's getting it to really go equally in both directions that's hard
'nut, we need the dr here...dr nut, that is
who told you you were born pessimistic? phlibbtt to them, you make your own destiny.
i'm not certified though, just certifiable.

time to excel at changing then...i like to change my hair personally
hursh, anything's possible, i'm pretty weird and I found someone
(can you tell my stance on the nature/nurture debate?)
naturally talented and gifted?
i like to change mu socks and underwear
lol ren
i'll vouch, harpie is weird...and then lookit me...crying out loud...if someone married my ass then there will be a one for you hursh.
someone did marry me, and still wants to be married to me...
I just got weird after I got married!
but does mu like you changing his socks and underwear?
not the one you want?
i better find out dawg....
i don't know. i'm giving him a second look. he's really great, other than the lack of physical attraction...
i the fact that my pookie and i found each other is proof that miracles exist!
i'd rather have great AND attraction, but, maybe i can't have both.
i need a miracle every day....
i am glad you have the space to think in, hursh
ok....help with the he6?
space, yes. wisdom, doubtful. lol
Pookie??

and for the baritone part - we could add greywolf to the howling and make it a trio - baby ping, dawg, and wolfie
now if that's not proper entertainment for a babble wedding i don't know what is.
a quartet is needed for a wedding tho.
haven't seen greywolf in AGES!

i play the stereo and babble
just so you know, baby ping follows no instructions but her own
ahh, she howls to her own beat...that's kewl, she can be syncopation
baby ping fits in with the group then
i sure hope someone's capturing all this for jade and nutty.
