when i was nursing many moons ago, we had a plastic surgery unit where 1/2 the patients were young kids trying to get tattoos removed from hands and obvious places to get a job, i think things have moved on since but she should get a nice subtle butterfly or simmilar on ankle or shoulder etc
at 18 i can do nothing because she is an adult, i can't say NO can i?
friends tattooist's advice: print out pic that she wants, stick it to bathroom mirror. if she can look at it every day for a year and still want it, then go ahead

Really, this whole global warming thing is fine with me. I don't think it's that so much as calendar shift LOL this year is following the path like last year. January is historically a brutal month here, that happened in February instead. I find everything is a month late
yes we never had snow last year til late January but got hit with a brutal storm in February

January is our traditional school cancellation month. January, 1 day off. February 10. each one totally correct. Even if they had school I would not have sent the kids. It was a brutal weather month, as I say 1 month behind.

take a small plastic cup and add cider vinegar to it. cover with saran wrap and ssecure with an elastic
poke small holes in the saran wrap. the flies go i and can not get out. they drown. i replace it weekly. works great

i went to see son-in-law run in the marathon today - they called it cause of the heat - tony walked the last 6 miles, but really sad thing is that someone died & over 300 had to go to hospitals

yeah - my friend said she saw this couple, the guy had run & the woman was trying to get him to go to a hospital, but he just wanted to go back to his hotel & michelle said his entire face had blisters all over, must be very heat sensitive - lots of very red-faced people
yeah - i saw tony at mile 4 & then at 10 & he was really soaked at 10 which i was surprised at but that's cause of the heat
Soaked is good. People stop sweating when the start experiencing heat exhaustion, then comes heat stroke... Don't get me started on all the ways severe heat and stupid people combine! Not to mention sunburn...
lol pam - i am very sensitive to the heat too - i had 2 friends all to make sure i was ok, lol & i didn't even run, even took a cab back to my car :)

dawg - I don't really need to ask that, re the selective memory, given what I've seen in the teen clinic and the alzheimer's clinic. Alll I can say now, so far in my life, if thank God I still have almost total recall. All the events in my life are what have gone towards making me, as well as the genetic stuff, and, at 50, I don't think being 'Me' is a bad place to be. It could be better, had I taken a different path or two in life, of course, but it's still a pace I am content to be in at 50 and and half years' of age. LOL.

I've been there, doxy. I was 11. My dad moved to Florida, found a woman and her family and forgot about us (okay, that was my perception). He died when I was 19. I chose not to go to the funeral - that made some waves, but such is life.
he was an "out of sight, out of mind" type person. I talked with my step-brother at the funeral, he and my aunt (whom I met at the funeral) said that he loved us girls (4 of us) and talked about us all the time. You would never know from the way he treated us.

I just figured out what goodreads reminds me of. In 6th grade, we had a chart with our names and we were to put a star up for each book we read--only we had to write a report to get the star. Teacher noticed I was reading more books than there were stars. Told her I wasn't interested in "winning." I was already motivated to read--on my own. Eventually, because i liked her, I wrote more reports than I would have been inclined, but still...

The books on my 'to read' shelf, pam are just a small part of the ones actually here on my shelves at home. I don't go in for 'bboks I want to read but havem't yer purchased'.
Reading has always been a big part of my life, pam. Writing, also, but diminished for a decade, when life crisises (is that a word) all broke at once.

True enough, jac. I found lots of babbling, writing broadcast e-mails, and individual e-mails really helped. Letter would have been nice, but I needed more immediate contact.
If you are a writer at heart, you will still hold on to the things you said in yyour personal letters. Hoepfully, you won't also hang onto thing your friend said in reply to make money out of them. I have been so p*ssed off by a number o friends through this. In my view, the mistakes II make in life ca n be laughed at and paid for... I will not betray my friends by writing about them without their permission.
