Nice to know about the suffixes...
Please somebody read about my icon! I'm so proud of my grandfather whom I never knew...
i did read, jilli, and i thing that's way cool.
i have an evil streak: http://www.lolcatbible.com/index.php?t itle=Main_Page
Oh, I did read your icon information, jilli. Sounds like your grandfather was a fascinating man.
I thought there would be more -est words and there were only three (I think)
thanks, dc and jellen. I heard plenty of stories about him -- not all nice!
Are you going to become a translator, dc?
i'm not sure, it is tempting. why do you ask, jellen?
Jillibus: Bought my copy in Rome in 1966, It was the 1963 12th edition...It was my bible. Was told to use it at the University of Zagreb, where I studied English...
Just curious. It would be a challenge to do it, I think.
Oh, so happy to hear that, Erda!
i've done translation work independently. Biggest challenge was technical documents about nuclear reactors for the US Dept of Energy. The Mexicans who attended the seminar complimented the work, which was nice.
I must have had an earlier edition, but I left it back in Yugoslavia when I escaped...
i've done some interpretation, work, too, though not as much.
going to have to settle for l28 words. Must get to bed, alarm set for 5: to catch early ferry - off to Toronto tomorrow
goodnight all
g'night flosey
G'night, flosey
may be online while back east - so hope to see you all

it won't take dred.
evening, fran
hi dc!
getting on the theme icon wagon i see...good choice for today. you too jilli.
Hi, Fran
hi jellen!
is that Webster in your icon?
hello everyone
hi lynxxx!
evening, lynxxx!
Not sure who it is; the caption says he'll take $20 to put your word in his dictionary.
Hi, lynxxx
that's rather a steep price for the apparent age of the engraving.
But a bargain for impacting the English language.
it's probably the editor of the enable dictionary....now we know how some of these words got in.
true. i'd no idea that 'nummy' was a regionalism until i lived in Boston.
lol Fran
LOL, so true, fran
lol, Fran
:-)
I have a rare dictionary: Terminorum Musicae Index Septem Linguis Redactus. It deals with musical terms in English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Hungarian and Russian. The Russian stuff is at the end of the book because they couldn't fit all that cyrillic among the Latin alphabets...
last word and I am going bling. last de 6 please
oh, that's so cool, erda!
that's cool erda, i'm sure a lot of those words are used here.
i only have "most expired"
only once have i read music in russian.
how about that! Book is going bling!
Yes, it is, and it was very useful because all my work had to do with music.
that's the only de6 i have also.
as soon as i finish the bling will come out
just found de6/27, things left behind
got those. there is one more.
darn, no U for detritus

yw dc
thanks!
Welcome to Lily Mae, gadget!
i always try a lot of a + words, you're right, enable doesn't like very many
I have the lw ones, but no li words!
we share a workspace with another helpdesk here. They nap during their shifts, we never do. hmph.
i have no li ones yet either.

161 total
1*8, 6*7
i just found li5/10
how are you this evening, cool girl?
li 5/10
hi cool!
hi chic!
good for you fran and chic *staring at grid*
last li5/10 is a phonetice spelling of alt pronunciation of L
its 8oclock in the morning here and im having a quick look at the board before i leave for uni
2L - plural, actually.
gosh, this is a strange little grid! hi!
hi ata!
hi ata

lol...that one always confuses me a little bit..
yay true! have a good night!
thanks...happy babbling, all!
nite Truehat
may that your sleep be as restful as my greeting was confusing.
still baffled by the li5/10s
i've been trying to figure out clues jilli
li + the ***l that wagged the dog
my monkeys are on strike
both 5/10s start with he li* the bulb, vowel, then one is italian plural, other english.
and then the same with a different end letter
does be6 build on be4?
second one looks like a plural, but there is no corresponding singular
no dc, unless there is another one that i don't have
thank you fran and dc -- no wonder the monkeys went on strike
it's a unit of currency, that li5 wl/out the plural.
is there just 1 be6?
ata, there are 2 be6 words
4, i was referring to the 1st, sorry.
Cassanova was a be6
3' not 4, i can count, really.
dc, the first be6 builds on the first be4
and one is a fishy
well, plural fishies
3 be 6s
hi babrab!
Hi BabRab !
hello
thanks ata, i didn't have yours
hi, babrab
oh yeah, 3 be6s -- I don't have the lsst one
hi babrab
Hello, everyone. Another amusing grid
'coz you laugh when you find the silly words
done babrab?
hmmm..fishy be's???
not quite
yes, rolin, in 2 spellings, at that.
like a greek letter, the fishies.
hi
evening, lady :)
hi infernal!
finally got the be8!
How are we all?
anyone have the be8?
there's a be8? my will is now officially sapped
Hi Infernal
lol ata!
be8: most (1st) be4
Someone needs to tell dr g that be???ies is a word
you just be4 me to it, dc (I don't have the be8)
Hi back
Hi herin
heh, that last br word is a ford dealership here.
it would be accepted infernal, if it connected.

thanks dc!
oh dear i did not see that A
got the be8!!
Um clue for the BE 8 as i dont have a be 4
infernal pointed me in the right direction
a string of be4
oh just stop it DC & Fran!
if someone will give me ten words i will lurve them :)
ten words? ok here we go. four more. the end.
Ok
uh oh
i ment ten words 4 the puzzle

spaghetti-os!
atalante
hi all, great vid fran

hi joso!
howdy, joso
hi joso
dont worry, i will have to work it out on my own
ooh, are they my videos this week?
Hi Joso
i dont get teh be 8 ill have a clue and a fish k thanks
yep, the prisonor dance one, seen it before but still good.
kid, you can get two letter clues from "lickety's babble clues"
infernal, that rat had the be8 little eyes
Fran, lickety said yesterday that he had a few more from me, and that he would start with yours real soon! Could be that he started earlier. I am so looking forward to yours!
joso, the funniest thing about those prisoner dance videos is they are for real!
ah, ty fran!
and good morning all :)
hi sprite!
thankyou
morning, sprite!
before i have breakfast...can some one give me a cluew for the single 't' pls?
In Real Life, that T is not a word
Yesssssss! *starts babbling fast, eager to see Fran's prisoner's dance :D *
rolin, like a dancing turn without W
waaaah stompie i tried that
explain to me someone ...how does some one spend £970 on a hand bag???
thanks
hi sprite, 8.8 kilograms of comics are on thier way, was told they would get there in a month
Hello Sprite !
tisrt
*catches breath* did i read that right, rolin?
rolin, if you lend me 970 pounds, i'll show you. :-)
yup...i just saw it on the news
Rolin try $1000 Aus for a purse :)
lol fran...
WOW JoSo! So much! I was thinking around 2 or 3 kg!
what is that US?
ah, ty, got the ti4.
an Hermes birkin bag is at least that much
~us$2,000
yw dc
the 970pounds ,that is.
a tiny little wennie purse was $100
$1000 even
aaah got it..ty dc...
or at least twice that then
and in a month, that is perfect. My son will be watching the delivery guys from now on, I am sure, LOL. Joso, thank you so much *hug*
is the single t tist?
hi sprite
pretty close kid, but don't type your guesses in the chat, put them in the "add word" box.
ok..im gonna get some breakfast...
Rolin what brand?
hello everyone :)
oh...ill let you know when they run the story...
hi mrp!
kid, we don't post words in the chat -- well, not on purpose!
it isn't, babbleKID, but if it were, we would ask you not to put it in the chat, please.
Hi sprite! Hubby will be home in an hour... will you have time then?
hi mrP :)
hi mrp
Hi MRP - you can see us!
I will, mrP. Gives me time to do this babble first :)
I finished another book today.. . then started a new one!
why can't you pput it in the chat?
hi lynxx!! I had nightmares with the connection yesterday... hello to all those I missed
soooo lovely! Guys, there will be a new babblebook reading soon, to be followed by more! :)
just one of our rules kid, people like to find them on their own.
eveing, mrp!
because it will spoil the fun of finding them ourselves
babbleKID: because this is a puzzle game. We like to find the words ourselves.
kid, we only put hints in the chat or it spoils the fun of finding the words
I somehow bothched the whole thing, Solitare made an error on the exchange, came out to $50 canadian, and I missread Canada post's rates, thought I could do anything under 10 KG's within budget, but I was at the post office, and so was the box, so I just made up the difference.
http://www.louisvuitton.com have a look at the bags here :)
morning :)
joso, your dictionary looks interesting
Canada Post's rates are outrageous
hi liz!
hi liz :)
joso... you "made up" the difference... does that mean you payed extra?
morning, liz
funny icon liz! and no, they're probably where mine are. :-)
i think i just feel off my chair
that is alot of postage! my 3 books from the US, they cost $30 friggin bucks! ripped off by amazon
LOL Fran - if you find them let me know
$2 000 pounds for a handbag
hi liz!
that is cheap for vuitton, usually their wallets cost that
Mr PRes Amazon is a right b itch with charges. $5 per book plus $5 for shipping PER sodding book
Hi Liz!
Mr Pres that was pounds
yes, didn't want to make another trip, repack the box etc. etc. no problem, but if we do it again it will be less for the same amount.
when i worked in retail, our Hermes boutique sold every Kelly bag that came in, at the time they were over $3500 US, but a bargain compared to what they cost in Japan.
hi Sprite, Dc, Mrp, Fran, Herin, Lynxxx, Jill, anyone I missed :)
is that charge by amazon for overeseas?
me me! you missed me!
yes it is... nasty stuff
I can't believe anyone paying that much for a handbag... nor be willing to walk around with that!
*hugs Ata*
the aussie amazon has much better rates
lol Atal - Hi from me anyway
i've never ordered from overseas via amazon. I have a local friend order it, then reship it to me.
hi ata :)
Yes thats how nice Amazon are to send books to the aus as most sodding damn poo bum books i get are not sold by amazon but arms of amazon
joso, I will send you an email... please let me pay the difference, ok?
Morning Ata!!!!!
i'd be happy to do that for any of you.
very nice of you joso :)
Thanks Dc
isn't that DC a sweetheart!
he sure is
will remember that, dc! :)
thanks dcs! believe me, I was dumbstruck by the prices of the books, very cheap compared to ours
not nessary Sprite, was my decision
my 40c book was going to cost me $15 from amazon
joso REALLY is nice! :)
that made me sad
tnx Mr P
Fran was that the kelly bag that everyone must have? I think i remeber that
MRP I bet your son would be very jealous if he knew what Joso is sending - talk about nice!
I ordered a paperback from Abbeys in Sydney and it ended up costing me about $60 Canadian
i'm off to process email for a bit, bbl
yes infernal
later dc!
bye DC
I don;t know if The Book People deliver world wide but I buy books from them and they are really cheap
yikes jilli!
a book costs only US $13.00 , but the same book here is AUS $25.00 I don't understand it personally.
bfn dc
head desk they arent even that pretty
good lord jilli!! I will send any orders to you next time
bookpeople.co.uk
the books are cheap liz, but the postage is the killer
Well, now that our dollar is higher than the US dollar we are still paying more for the same books
GST, mrp - we lack it, and amazon, not having brick and mortar stores charges no sales tax here. now, for real bbl :)
I would send stuff to others but i have done it recently and its been nothing but a giant pain in my ass to do it
ok, time to start the grid so I can babblebook later
oh I get it Mrp, sorry
thanks dcs :)
Thank you for the amazon reminder must post thanks to the sender
later mrp!
Morning eveyone....off to a great start, found the 8!!!!
phantom: désobligeante
too right mrp -- my book about Danes costs about $15 to mail
wow, that would kill me mr P, I read about a book a day, 25$ per would banrupt me
don't be sorry! I love books coming to me from exotic locations, but they take 3 months to deliver LOL
hi ishult!
yay ishult, and HI!
wtg lshult! what a way to start!
really, babrab!
lol babrab
i'll be back, taking a break to get the kids to bed.
Bye Fran
Hi Ishult. Bye Fran
Hi Ishult
Hi Ishult
I have lost many book sales because of the postage rates
Mr Pres i got my book on monday ordered on the 3rd of Oct i think i fell of the couch in suprised
how did that happen!? I ordered 5 books in July and they only arrived last week, well 3 or them did anyway
hi BabbleRabble :)
Item(s) Subtotal: $2.98 Shipping & Handling: $12.49 ----- Total Before Tax: $15.47 Sales tax: $0.00 ----- Total for this Shipment: $15.47 Thats how mean amazon are
that is nasty
I have had good luck with used books. often, the postage is more than the cost of the book
wow, that is insane.
BBL too much noise in this house to concentrate
goedemorgen, sprite
I am hoping I can spend the rest of my gift card with mypandora.com
Yep we ordered $80 worth of books and was slugged $70 in charges. That was the only book i got
Mr Pres have you contacted the sellers in relation to the books as that sounds dodgy
jij ook een goedemorgen gewenst, BabbleRabble :)
SOBs half way through the sodding season channel nine booted my show till late
you should only get charged what they send you
yay... cannot remember who gave that rat's eye clue for the 8, but I found it without seeing how it could be in the grid :D
it is dodgy cause they said they had the books in store, but when I completed the order, they emailed me that they didn't have any of them and I would have to wait
what was the rat's eye clue?
I think it was fran, sprite
oh, that one travels along the bottom left of the grid
in that case: thanks Fran! :) NJ, the clue was something like: that rat had the be8 little eyes.
same here Sprite! I still cant see it but I've got it accepted lol
haha i got it too before figuring out how it fit in the grid
thx
but did the refund you the money? I got full refund off $77 as my book got eaten by the system
yes, they didn't charge me for what didn't arrive
be 8 --- most like wampum
NJ: yw :)
That is a bonus but still rude
lol Liz! you need to go in SW direction first, and then back. I finally figured it out :)
I found it eventually Sprite :)
Time for bed -- 44 left for tomorrow
adder
Good night Jill.
ack SORRY
Hi to anyone i missed
jilli: sweet dreams and sleep well :)
Night Jill
night jilli :)
a little one hiding in the grass, Liz? :D
Shame on me Sprite *blush*
errrr... how can de6/24 be a word? Isn't that similar to being a little pregnant?
I'll tell you when I find it LOL
I guess it will be when Buffy kills a vampire... the guy was already de4, but after that he is de6.
Sprite thats a great clue
LOL stupid word! de6 than what exactely?
thanks lady :)
Liz: that is what I mean :D
*rolls eyes*
enable is somewhat like Humpty Dumpty: "When I use a word," Humpty Dumpty said in a rather a scornful tone, "it means just what I choose it to mean -- neither more nor less.
Right I have to go. Time to play with the little be 5/14's at playschool! LOL
LOL Liz! Enjoy :)
oh holly good lords. Flagon x 2 and plates silver mint condition used in catholic mass how much?
see you all later, have fun :) *poof*
wonderful quote, BabbleRabble! And totally correct for enable.
later liz
must sleep, G'nite all
aahh... ii was an ive st laurent bag...
Can someone tell me how much one would pay for 2 flagons and silver plates very old
sleep well, JoSo, and I just received your answer: will do that right away :) *hug*
not much, in my case, lady...
it kind of depends, lady .... on quality, age, rarity etc
but for books, it would be an entirely different matter :)
i nearly fell off my chair $100 000 pounds and its used always for mass
Hi All
a smidge steep for my budget ... any in the $5 range?
Herin, I just sent you an email about my situation. Please read.
HI Xankia. I just emailed you back
Hello, Xanika
Ok herin, I'll have a look
hi babble rabble
hi Xanika
Got that
I have yahoo message up so it instantly tells me when i ahve an email
hi sprite
Only 161 words today, phew!
Back at you
head desk
Is anyone here or has the grid eaten you all
what would you want us to say on your conversation with Xanika, lady?
hi, back for a short bit. hi, Xanika.
not much. :D
Hi Dc did you go home yet?
lol... thought so ;)
great icon today, dc!
no, i've 3 hours yet before i leave.
mmm i have a few thoughts but i dont think i could say it here. Not very pc
ty, sprite. i use that dictionary online a lot.
ah, okay. I'll be on yahoo later, likely ~5 hrs from now, or email me at gmail.com
DC you on that new shift rotation yet?
i work 19-07 gmt-4 (or babble time +1), still on the off W/Th week A, work W/Th week B.
I guess the off week makes it all possible?
i'm supervisor for nights when i work now too, which is wack, as i've only been here since 9 July, and guy i work with has been here 3 years.
So still stuck at nights?
Does that not make you pouty?
a bit, but it beats the 16-00 shift.
probably means you do a better job, dc...
icky night shift
(nearly ditched the f out of shift then)
well, i come here with 15 years of helpdesk, so i'd like to think i can handle the job, sprite. :">
grin... so not really strange you got to be supervisor then, dc...
worst part is my employer called me today at 14, while i was asleep. of course i'm a sub-contractor, so they don't really know my hours.
nice thing about nights is i get to babble and chat with yall.
love to have you around, dc, that's for sure
oh, sprite, yall, from y'all, from you all, Southern US 2nd person Plural.
hey, I knew that :)
all o'yall, or all of you all, is the emphatic and/or broadly inclusive construction.
oh, cool. it's ubscure to plenty here, so i thought you might not. my bad.
obscure, even.
my dad did shiftwork when i was young. When he worked 15-23, he'd take me to Krispy Kreme at 01 or so to watch the donuts being made. :)
I appreciate your information, dc! Just was proud I did know this little piece of it... but keep on telling me things like this, it will improve my knowledge of idiom.
what i gave you below is widely used conversationally from Maryland out through Texas in the US.
is that the same region that would use "hisn" ?
what's that mean, 'hisn'?
is that like 'isn't'?
no, it is a babblet I learned from babble. It is southern drawl for his (as in his and her).
and lady, nights not my ideal, but it pays the bills, and i'm finding i'm adjusting.
oh, his'n'hers, yeah, we use that, said as hizn, also yours, said as yerzn, etc.
in my native dialect of English iron is said as arn, too.
the funny thing is, hisn is in enable, but yerzn, hern, etc is not.
Thats a fair call Dc
hern is :)
is it? Ok, then I will reconsider my complaint :) Thanks Ata!
where we live hisn means belonging to him !.....hello everyone, don't get too near puter today I have a drippy cold !!
yup, that is the hisn I mean, Karys! And here is a *hug* for you... get well soon!
ooohhh thank you sprite....I feel better already : )
good! :)
and my favourite word up to now is de6/27
be5 the hell out of de6/24 for sure
thats just so silly !
how can anything oor anyone be de6/24 !!
ridiculous word, the 24 that is. But what can one say... sigh... enable :)
back in a bit
indeed sprite, indeed
I just considered it might be a vampire after Buffy killed it. It was already de4, but now it is de6.
perhaps that is it !
can anyone else see 'waterbed' ?
Good morning/evening all.
Good morning Haz : )
oh yes, Karys! Hi Haz *hug*
Hello there - a nice grid today?
so far it is fun, Haz, though Karys and I and some more draw the line at de6/24.
hi, karys and haz, and the grid ain't too bad today.
it was to start with, now I'm not so sure !
I seek de6/24 then to see which side of the line I stand.
i'm down to 25, though i had to really work for a lot of those.
not least the Ls
havn't yet looked at those dc
Sprite's buffy clue for that is nice.
:)
the LWs are like hawaiian flower necklaces.
If you can have the superlative, as in the most unalive tone of delivery of a speech, then the comparative has to have its place. I'm on the side of de6/24!
hello again!
wb, fran!
wb Fran! And Haz, that is only because you love to disagree :P
you senesed that i typed hawaiian, didn't you ;)
hi dc, haz, sprite, karys!
hi Fran
Sprite - how can you say such a thing?
have to go and sort out the dog. and going off to sulk until debate is allowed!
so they are dc, thank you !
it came quite easy, actually, Haz :)
later ata!
lol Ata... tried that too. *hug* and cuddly the dog from me.
ciao, ata!
hey Fran, great dictionary!
I'm just saying that de4 can be used to describe more than just the physical state of a corpse....
bye Ata
thanks sprite, you know i had to have a Hawaiian one.
yes, much more "This party couldn't be any de6/24. Let's go eat instead."
I think next we will have pregnanter and pregnantest women.
I'd love to see that dictionary for real, Fran. It must be lovely just paging through it!
again, pregnant is used for more than just a woman - to describe a tense situation for example.
oh really??? :P
a pregnant pause, for example, i'm sure you've seen it in books, no?
that's why i listed all the information for it, i figured it was one people might actually try to find.
in that case, it's a tensish anticipatory pause.
am pulling your leg, dc.. of course I know. But I have declared de6/24 to be ridiculous and I stand with my pov :P
back soon, just having my dinner! :)
later mrp!
hasta, mrp
i want an N to have paisan
dinner, mrP? And our reading then???
de6/24 is common from my POV, but i was a gothling back in the day, so what do i know.
oops, that was too close to two real words, sorry!
I want a 'c' for disect
lol Fran...
I want another S for lots of words, like disE4/4
phantom: petsai
the PEs are worse than the Ls, as it turns out.
owww that rat even has the be8 re7 little eyes... it is a real creep!
oh, so the rat's albino, eh?
heh, must be dc
there are some weird ones there, dc, and some that we have seen more often in babble than anywhere else.
think so!
dc: pe + marquis de **** pe + ***h or ***hout you.
oddly, those two i've found. :) ty, tho, good clues.
thanks sprite, i was missing those
and you also have the coin, I think, dc? Might be you have trouble with pe5/12 - 6/24 combo then.
pe + form of to be + vowel... and past tense.
do'h i lived in Spain when that was the currency.
and yw Fran!
those were the last two i needed, thanks again spritey!
lol... babble blindness strikes again!
ey up all
hey bfsog
ty for both of those, sprite.
howdy, bfsog
yw dc! PE misery solved now?
hi bfsog
fireworks for you, Fran?
what of the pe5/12 before the 6s, pls?
last two Ps. :-)
ah... congrats on the Ps then :D
got it.
p + not with difficulty but with e***
*takes clue back*
and fireworks
yay sprite!
woo-hoo, sprite!
i've 18 left, and must finish the emails. :\ catch yall later. {poof}
later dc!
later dc!
and Fran: great video! Thanks :)
yw sprite
you'll find sudoku quite easy today, medium, but i did it with no greens.
not sure where mrP is hiding... think I am going to do the sudoku and after that I go downstairs... She said she 'd be here 45 minutes ago.
lost track of time most likely
iron sudoku is funny. I do 6 and 7 star sudokus here at home and I can solve most of them. But sometimes I really have trouble solving a medium at iron sudoku.
Good rainy morning everyone.:)
hi hodag!
I think she was going to have dinner first... our babblebook appointment seems to be jinxed :)
hi ho
i know what you mean sprite, some of the mediums are harder than hards
hey sprite and Fran
glad I am not the only one, Fran!
phantom: diaper
hello again!
dinner was a rather formal occassion... TV was off
mrP!
greetings mrp.:)
hi again mrp!
my son showed his amazing talent of depeaing a bean pod, and my daughter read poetry... what a night!
what a special dinner. :-)
sounds great, mrP!
shall we try again tomorrow for babblebooks?
sprite, i think you lost her again. :-)
i forgot, you have skype chat too.
i'm going to leave the last 20 for the morning
goodnight or good day to anyone still here!
Good night Fran.
night Fran, and sudoku was indeed nice :)
No April?
errr no, October here
I am off, you all (yall for dc) have a great day or night or whatever and happy babbling :)
night sprite
back, bye, sprite
it's amaizing to me how quiet it gets around this hour.
might i get a clue for the di6, pls?
found it, and firewords. :)
i'm off, ciao.
yey dcseain.....................:)
sleep tight sprite
wat tym is it dceain?
hodag, what time is it?
HI
Michigan time(USA)is 5:56am
hey Lady:)
How are we all
good morning. How can it be the same time in Michigan as it is in Vermont? I thought you guys were one hour behind us?
fine as frog hair here:)
Thats good Hodag How is Eva and merp
Hi eva,it is now 6:am here
I am ordering books again online
we're just ein. Cold, but fine. So hodag - Michigan is on EST?
Eva is it your kitty that weighs about 10pound plus?
10 lbs, are you kidding? 15+!
I think soooooooo:)
i was being poliet
HOw are we all
that was very polite indeed. He is indeed a big kitty.
I have a new server,it sure is nice to be able to play again, the last week was a real pain in the #%%! Nothing is worse then trying to chat and getting no-ware.LOL
Ho you didnt miss much
Eva i think you kitty is very pretty and cuddly
thank you
hey all.. i have ri4/5 and 5/12 from the corner 'r'..what am i missing pls?
Ri 6 21
that is good to know! The only time it worked last week was SAT. when that very nasty nasty dirty person was on and who needs that? :)
of course ty herin
hi rolin
hey hodag
I think we are very over it
how can de6/24 exist...surely de4/6 is an absolute...
i am eating cous cous
one would think ro9lin
debe
sorry!
de4/6 can refer to more than just the physical state of a corpse. Bush's style of oratory is de6/24 than Clinton's.
Oh holly crap how do you spelt Tuesday Is it tesday or Tuesday?
hmm..true haz
tues
herinfernal, it's Tuesday. And it's holy.
well i was trying to be polite and have firmly just decided that if a teacher can not get 3rd grade grammar right i am home schooling my future spawn.
I don't think that would be a good idea, somehow.
help, got be7/44, st7/36, st7/32, te7/36 & wa7/48, what 7 am I missing?
re7/36
Rolin, how is the weather over there,we are having a rainy spell here, changing of the seasons temps. in the 50,s day and night?
we're into a bit of a wettish patch...tho the rest of the week is sposed to be dry but gooler...14C
haz....are you anywhere near cavan?
ty Haz, but any chance of a clue?
the mosst of a color ishult
re7/36 - being the most blushing bride, perhaps?
Not near Cavan, it's a couple of counties away, rolin.
reddest
I see. winter will be here before we know it:)
oh..ok...my partner is there for the week...on business
yup..thats right ish..lol
ooooops!!!!
In terms of US or Australia, it's just down the road, I know.
so sorry
*s*...yeah it probably is... but ive lived here long enough to understand
i cant find this st7/36
neither can I
the thing I'm most stuck on is the L's (just found l5/10) so far!!!???
ty ishult:)
It's an adjective/past tense ending on the ending of the type of home the pioneers/early farmers lived on - home*****.
I won't tell anybody lol
What me having kids or me teaching kids?
ty haz
yep,ha ha
thanks haz!
It was the idea of home schooling that I thought wouldn't be a good idea. I wouldn't have the patience for it, I know.
I would at least they would be advanced as i loath most schools
okay-0ff to weboggle for a while.. See you later
Advanced in what way? You admit you can't do maths and that your spelling isn't always accurate. They're pretty basic skills.
Enjoy Eva
can anyone help with the L's?
so is it a matter that the schools are bad or you dont like the system?..and would you pass your bias on to your child by home schooling?..and deprive them of the socialisation that school provides?
Ishult - lw4 and lw5 are two of them.
li6/21 is an enzym to desolve fat...i had to look it up in google
my daughter home schooled my oldest grandson and noe he is 25 out in the world doing very well. That may not have happened if he had stayed in highschool:)
the other half is the math nut i am good at English (not fantastic at spelling)I think the new school system is shocking. I was doing my friends year 10 English which i did in Grade 6
There are plently of ways to socialise kids than sending them to school to fight it out with kids their own age. Most of society is not intermingling with only people of their own age group
*shaking head*...
My friends son did year 7 catch up due to swapping schools in under 7 weeks
my spelling and typing suck but I get by
all you get told at school is - we are not here to socialise
I homeschool min e too
and will you continue to do so for secondary?
yep
well good luck
mine i already working for hi gcse biology
I need a new keyboard!
I was bullied from aged 6 to 18. As a present to my high school graduation i talked about locking them in a room and feeding them to hungry rotties
Many colleges in the US are seeking out home schoolers because they are self motivated and high acheivers
yahoo for home schooling! It is hard for the kids to learn from teachers not much older then themselves
and people wonder why its hard to get teachers...
Phan i love your froggie
lols! ahem - in UK that is called socialisin herein
thnx
Because most kids arent given a boot in the butt when they are little toe rags. Its always 'not my little kid;
me too Phan
granadan thats c***
ty everyone, at least I have 4 out of 5 L's
so much for schooling, lets play ........lol
It's hard to learn from teachers who can't control the class or that don't even know the subject matter
I dont agree rolin. Ive been through that system, had nmy child assaulted on way home from school and had a headteacher tell me that is ho ids learn... its howw they learn to be doormats
and the control problems..where do you reckon they stem from??...first of all its the fact that so many parents relinquish their responsibiklites by chansing the might $ or £..and buy their kids off so they can be left in peace..
nd then theres a justice system that tells kids all about their rights...but somehow neglect to instructin their responsibilities...and when teachers try to do this..the kids kick off...cos we're the only ones trying to do the job..
That is true, but not every parent does so. I am a full time stay at home mom that used to homeschool
I would like to get my pc fixed so i can skype
all the more reason to school at home.
i have worked in both the uk and aus.. i know both systems... and i have experienced the sdtrangulation of both..
and when theyre at home youre bringing them up in a closetted world...
Oh dear i seem to have opened pandora's box
I dont have any control problems. I take responsibility for my kids in every ay, educationally too, and everyone says what a decent, well mannered kid mine is. I dont disagree that schools AND teachers are hamstrung, but I dont intend to put my kids through that either. My kids are not closetted - on the bcontrary, we feel sorry for kids hose entire learning experience is in a dull classroom
sheez..i didnt realise just how much anger i have about the way teaching is viewed...i guess i had to get out to see it..i better go clean up ..up stairs...ill see ppl later
You are very wrong there. As I said, there are many ways to get your kids out there. Group sports, field trips, co-ops
I was raised on the ' wait till your father gets home method;
rolin - I sympathise, I really do. I hate to see people decrying the whole system of education just because there are difficulties in some areas.
yeah yeah..dull classroom.. thats right...always school is boring..stranslated...i dont get to do what i want when i want like i do at home..outa here..
Rolin, it isn't aobut how I viewed teachers, it is the culture that caused me to homeschool
LOLs - my kids know more people than their schooled friends do. swimming, horse riding, shows, dancing, karate, ecology club, and the little toads nevber get to do what they want. They are home to learn and e love it. He knows more than his mates of the sdame age, that is for sure. Im sorry ou have met such poor homeschoolers, most are one to one tutors and thats got to be superior to one on thirty crowd control
I have my 110percent backing on teachers it the blatant lack of respect that i have issues with
there are so meany other ways to socialize don't you think? To much socializing in school creates a lot of problems.lol
teachers could do a good job if parents brought their kids up ith some values - but they dont.
like the bullied kid in our next village who hung himself over lon term school bllies who even the police couldnt stop
Im going to give up on this keyboard in a minute
I never once got a detention in high school and sucked it up. Granadan Defenestration??
chucked out of a window or spinal cord defenestration?
lets change the subject and laugh a little......:)
window
Keyboard bad window good
I was bullied so badly for so long I got myself deliberately expelled and put into care to get out at 15. It was that or under a train. I was told it would "toughen me up for life"
LOLs - sorry herein, being slow on uptake today.
don't you hate that when that happens?
Um cous cous explodes in your mouth like little pops kinda gross but cool
lauh? anyone got a spare keyboard befpore I traipse up to tesco aain
Nope Gran i get my spares from the op shop
LOL. I love op shops
They save me all their knackered towels as dog bedding
Thats great Grana most of the time they chuck them
time to go and start my day,have a good one everyone.........8}
bye Ho
Did i scare everone off?
opps everyone
g'd day all
Pounce HI Carlee
hi herin.... why the oops?

Hello all

HI Scrabbler. I have been on cute overload looking at the bunnies
Cute baby bunny there, Lady!
I love the kitty as a swifter
morning babblers
Hi Nono
morning nono
Hi Nono
Question does anyone here know how to remove burnt marks (as in crisspy stuck on food mark) on a sauce pan
any L clues?
any L clues?
lw 4/5
herin, soak you pan (or boil the pan) with baking soda in it
Hi Herin - try bicarb of soda and water
No, Lady, so I just place aluminum foil over those pans when I use them.
li6/21 - follow the mouth part with mixed up body of water
Thanks ill try that
li5/10 - li plus three quarters of what the dog wags
li5/10 - li plus three quarters of the former Soviet news agency
li6/21 is an enzyme secreted by the pancreas
And the L's are now done--TY!
I don't get that soviet clue
lw4/8 - being an anagram of a crafty plan that sounds like a period of time, then plural for lw5
KGB
thank you Haz....just got back and you have given me the last two 'l's I needed
Not the KGB, that was the secret service. The news agency began with t and had the same structure as the Roman Catholic church service.
You're welcome, Karys.
now, am I being denser than usual, but I can't see anything that might suit the 't' next to the said 'l' ?
THanks i got it by googling soviet news agency
Hello everyone.
yes I am...got it !!
Hello lynxxx.
Hi lynxxx
I tried googling former... dropping the former helped.
Hi Karys, care to share that t?
Did you get it/
I am now more than 1/2 way there so I better go and see my son off to school. Thnx for all the L help
Hi lyxx
Bye Phan
Becca....like the twisty tw, but drop the t
Ah, thanks Karys
Thanks Karys i never saw that one
No, not the t, but you knew what I meant !!!
wait, does anyone have a clue for the top T?
but i got a w of it thanks
good for you herin :)
ti4/4 - mirrors the structure of boy's opposite.
Top T = ti4= ti + what hazel just said
Thats a word?
thats the one being clued- another word for spin/twist minus the second letter
Hazel is lightning fast!
ok thnx now ogne
gone
I must go now--must testify in Family Court regarding a case of child abuse. Yuck!
eww sorry.
oh dear Scrabbler...hard work that !
Bye Scrabbler. An endurance today.
ugh...good lick scrabs
Poor Scrabbler best of luck for you and kids
bye Scrabbler.
Hope it goes well Scrabbler
I keep seeing bedsit
I will state the facts, as will others, and the judge will figure things out. Too bad the toddler cannot tell us who broke her humerus.
poor kid
I have fostered some sad cases here
But worse: my dear friend that gave birth to a beautiful, healthy baby Oct 7th is dying of brain cancer and it is unbearable to lose her.
That is very sad Scrabbler, and very difficult to come to terms with.
I know, Scrabbler. It is unbearably sad for everyone.
how is mary and her family scrabs...they have been in my thoughts and prayers
Oh Scrabbler, that is terrible. Such a difficult thing to go through
Oh i saw the oddest thing today. A baby with both legs plastered. Probably hip dysplasia poor little thing had a cast all over her legs. Her sister (about 3)was being so gentle in touching her.
oh Scrabbler...that is so sad, what a precious gift she has given though
Oh Scrabbler i am so sorry
The pathology report showed a very aggressive cancer and she is deteriorating. Mary is comfortable, at least when I left late last night. Her husband will get through this by focusing on his kids. So many of us will help him and the kids.
am soo sorry scrabs
How many other children do they Have Sbrabbler ?
Yes, Lady--hip dysplasia.
how old are the kids?
Sorry to hear about your difficult times, Scrabbler. Both families are in my thoughts
The oldest girl just turned 7, the boy is 3 and the baby is now 10 days old. Mary is a great mom, especially as she used to be a kindergarten teacher.
sad
I'm slipping out - bye for now.
Mary seems to know although her husband will tell her the truth today.
bye Haz
I always believe that things happen for a reason, but sometimes it's very hard to fathom what .
that is so not fair
bye Haz
I'm sure your friend's husband appreciates all the support and help you can give. And your friend will appreciate it to, knowing that people love her and her family
Door window. Angels come into this world so angels can go into the next
Mary is an inspiration for all of us and we have all been touched by her. We must help the husband raise his kids and manage the home.
The newborn IS such an angel.
I must go--if I am late to court the judge will fine me or something.
Go scrabbler so many hugs
Oh is cous cous ok for cats?
Bye Scrabbler, my thoughts and prayers are with you and our friends
best of luck Scrabbler, keep bright
I am sorry to make everyone sad, but pray for Mary and her family, for peace and strength.
*your friends
we are scrabs..go... don't be late..and good luck today... {{hugs}]
Indeed, it goes without saying here Scrabbler
Sorry to ask a really dumb question but is cous cous ok for cats?
sorry, herin, my cat's havn't ever tried it.
herin... I don't see why not...some say is pasta..some say is a grain..either way... cannot hurt
I've never seen a cat eat grass so maybe not
mmm i think she just took some out of my bowl. It had apricot sauce in it she has eaten curried sausages and lentils before.
as a meal, i would say no (doesn't have the right nutrition for cats), but just to give her some- sure- its just tiny little pastaish stuff
I would only feed cat food to her or human meat raw but i didnt know about cous cous
cat food has grain in it, so i wouldn't be worried
she isnt quite right
clue for the ST 7s please
back in a bit
Ok i have the ST 7 36 its the st 7 32 i need help please
Infernal - the 2 I have are past tense of the words before - st5.12 + st4.4
use the word that begins with IN thats means to replace, like "Try this INST", but take away the IN and make the root past tense
huh?
oh you got that one
tx, lideola!
the other uses the other S and means "mixed"
Infernal - then the one you want is past tense of st4.4
i need to find that
could i have a clue for the at 5/10 please?
look at the other S
thanks thats not a word
at5.10 a + to bend or go off balance

kinda
WHERE?!?!?
It wasn't a word, herin.
i said kinda
oh man..is this where I drop my daily word in the chat?????
maybe
i can do it every so innocently... and everyone knows I am sleep deprived and slightly unstable right now :D
excuses, excuses! you'll not get away with it!
hmmm..ok... well..don't say I didn't offer
LOL, lynxx... and I was just going to be nice to her.
That being sa4.5, how is your sleeping going Carlee?
what is it? I don't remember
i have dr's appt this am... in 1/2 hour
To get knockout drops? good!
i have those... they don't work..or rather..they DO work...but... more sdatives have a 3-4 hour 1/2 life..my problem is not getting TO sleep..its staying asleep
i sleep for 2-3 hours then am up again
my worries come into my dreams...and I wake up
It's a typical symptom of stress, carlee. I hope the doctor can help.
i ned a good shopping fest..but I have to be so careful with $ as all the disability stuff hasn't kicked in and the Bank account has about run dry
hi, all. I finally gave up and went to the ER last night. I have bronchitis.
well..at least that is solved
Hello, Angel. Sorry to hear that.
Carlee - you are amazingly level headed, a lot of people could not get through what you are dealing with - now if you can just sleep a bit longer!!!!
lots of mint and herbal teas help with the symptoms and will make u more comfortable
( and that all..was my word drop of the day... )
mornin babblers!
Hi Angel - Look after yourself - and listen to Carlees good advice
thanks lynxxx... but trust me..i lose it..i lost it last night and broke one of our computer mouses ( mice? ) thankfully I have a spare
Hi Eva!
Hello, Eva.
hi eva
how is everyone this morning?
ok..well I best run..appt is in 15 mins..ttfn
Good luck, carlee.
thanks...byebye *poof*
bye Carlee - good luck
Eva - carlee is stressed and sleep-deprived, Angel has bronchitis and herin's cat is 'not right'. I'm okay, though.
and aside from a headache from paint fumes, I'm OK too
well, im sorry to hear its such a hump-day for everyone!
How are you, Eva?
lynxx - an onion cut in half and set on a saucer is sa4 to dispel paint fumes.
been rather stressed myself, but its nothing new... other than a crick in my neck for 2-3 days, im ok!
cut side up Jac?
Oh dear! We are a rickety lot, aren't we?
Yes, lynxxx.
TY back in a minute - just need to cut an onion
better to cut an onion than to cut the cheese. ;)
*Hopes lyn doesn't get a bad head from onion fumes.* LOL
ewww
Done, now can I help with any clues for this 'lovely' grid before I go?
How do i always walk in on burp fart poo or food coments?
I'm okay thanks, lyn. 24 to go. Congrats on finishing.
its your god-given talent, herin :)
Hi Eva
mornin :)
wa 7
Good morning everyone
sorry Can i have a clue for the WA 7 please
Hello, Mom.
Infernal - an empress line dress is high wa*****
HI Mom
Hi Jacula :)
Hi Mom!
sorry Herin, I don't have it. Hello
Morning all. wa7/48 extend the area around your middle
HI Lynxxx
Hi Frances too !
Hi Frances
Or a pregnant dress which is such the crappy fashion at the mo
Hello, Frances. I'm trying to diminish it not extend it. LOL
Me too Jac. Fighting a losing battle.
yes, it seems to expand with every passing day, month, year. :)
I blame the growing on all the rain we've had.
and only slightly embarassing whe you ask the girls wearing them how many more months they have to go - and they are NOT pregnant
80 down, 81 to go!
I think it's a design fault. LOL
Go get 'em Eva
I love what Miss Midler said about exercise ' I keep trying to out run my arse but it keeps following me
LOL, herin.
Around here, the trend is to continue wearing your regular closed and skip the maternity fashions all together.
clothes*
lol Infernal - she is a hoot!
I think I need an eye exam or typing lessions
Same her Mom - but the fashion for women here who are NOT pregnant is to wear dresses that look like they are
I dunno, Mom. Sticking to the word 'closed' might have done away with the need for maternity wear. ;)
I hate the new clothes I have been all through a major shop and there was no clothes. All the dresses are those hideous flowing numbers which i may has well have 'fat cow' on my forehead or too casual nothing elegant after five wear
LOL Jac
lol Jacula
We did smock dresses and tops back in the early 70s. I do have a couple of the new style ones though.
I see a lot of the 70's fashions are returning
60s, too, Mom. The prints are very retro.
I got an email from Simplicity patterns and the cover pattern reeked of the 70's, large lapels, herringbone fabric
Around here the girls try to get away with wearing as little as possible and wonder why they get the wrong type of attention.
ALso what gives with the um is it called smocking the tops with elastic across the boob?
some 60's stuff is pretty neat
I love the 40's and 50's fashions
Love the 40's stuff. I need a dress that i can wear that is elegant and 5 star hotel quality
that would be rucheing Infernal
is it i dont know what its called but i dont like it
I know it as smocking infernal.
the smocked tops here barely cover the girls and they seem to enjoy that
I dont like it is not right on adults with boobs
or the boys do anyway
I like the 40s and 50s stuff, too. I hope 20s flapper dresses don't come back. I'm not binding my chest for anyone!
lol Jacula
They wouldn't be enough binding for my boobs
I'd get in a right old flap over that one Jac.
I need to fashion a corset along the lines of what Scarlet O'Hara wore to suck this flab in
Whole body corset job!
time to go grab breakfast, before i become drowned in work!
corsets are great but crappy for feasting
We'd all have to get those 'winding machines' they used to use.
bye Eva
'Bye, Eva.
or a good 4 posted bed and a chamber maid
Good Morning All
Also, the girls here do not wear slips. My brother went to his son's high school graduation and a long white dress is the attire. Not one girl had on a slip and very few had white panties on.
may I have a clue for the 8 please
Hi Peri

Hi Sandr
Mom im looking at option now
i am comimg to new york in January - speaking of shopping - any hot tips from you yanks?
sorry Sandr, I can't help
My friends mum is a semstress
maybe she can stitch something up for you
and it would be tailored just for you
maybe but i want this perfect
Herin - if she's a good seamstress it will be better made than anything you'll find in a shop.
need plus sigh
Also, you can have a say in the design AND it will fit you.
what could be more perfect than a gown of your choosing. Material and pattern of your choice. It would be a one of a kind
what do you want to shop for Sandr?
thanks Jacula for the be8
I haven't been to New York Sandr, so I wouldn't be of help
HI Espirit

betas
there are a lot of patterns out there in plus sizes
obviously the empire state is a must and my mum wants to go to ground zero tyo pay her respects - its my sister thats the real shopaholic
for things to see, there is no shortage. I doubt you are going to find many "bargains" for shopping though
oops
:) thannk you Peri :)
for local color you should definitely go to the lower East side
:)

the cat is mewing on the roof!! she is at the window on thr roof!! I am amazed that she does that, cause we feed her twice a day and give her cuddles all the time! It must be here age..... poor puss! :)
how old is she?
she is 12 now... we got her before we got married
I knew that *facepalm* half asleep. she can't quite claim senility yet!
I like jammie cat
Morning, all. Do cats get senile?
I miss my darling Lia so much!! We got them both when we married... my darling Lia died from a vet accident 2 year ago... so sad for all of us
dont know if they officially do, but I'm sure they do
i am going to bed you lovely people. Enjoy your evening
oh mrp - I miss Lia so much too!
Jessie has days when she is senile, but then she is absolutely normal!! I love when she comes to me.... drooling like a crazy rabied raccoon!! and drenches the sheets and blankets!
Jessie is one cuddle slut.
Night lovely people
I love my Lia!! I am wanting so much to get another kitten!!! I am really really really thinging about it seriously! :) :) :)
And Jessie is more like a dog than a cat ;-)
nite infern :)
Night, Herin! Eh, my cat drools too.
night all
nite nite lady
I call my cat drooler matula....
my *dog* drools
accck. I need one of the li5.10s. Any help please?
I am monkeying that to no avail
Slobber Dog Ata?
she waits till she sits by me while I'm eating something she desperately wants. when I give her a tiny bit, she opens her mouth and this *curtain* of drool splashes everywhere
One of the Li5/10's sounds like the cat you miss + a consonant in the middle and pluralise it.
li + abbrev tasmania
that's the one I have
owwwwww - If you love her the slobber is cute - if you don't know her - Mmmmmm, drool
li + sounds like siamese
li + the extention of the bone on the backside... without the last letter
its adorable, but foul too!
I am desperate for another dog!
all dogs have their fair share of liquids around the house ;-)
I really really want another sheltie puppy! it would complete our family :))
thanks but doesn't make sense to me. will come back to it as my brain is truly well snarled on that one now.
bbnaz....li + pin the ***l on the donkey
we could breed our darling doggie and have a couple of litters... then keep a pup to go on with the family ... I so so so want another family of dogs! They are just delightful!
bbnaz, kinney is adorable
Mrp - will you have my puppies! I so love you!
thanks Annie.......why I could get the lw but not that li..........
yw bb...
now i understand the bone on the backside........
Oh, hurl. Puppy love.
Donny Osmond would be so hurt, Judi.
have you been feeding him dog food, mrp?
bb, so easy when I see it
You could invite muskrat suzie and muscrat sam over for tea!
Hi Haz!
does spangle drool, haz?
No, but she's not really allowed to beg for food, so maybe that helps.
Good morning/afternoon all.
you're so cruel and mean to that dog LOL
Nothing wrong with begging ;-) Bug with the pets it's best to ignore it.
Hiya, Haz. Anyone know what the 8 starts with?
I know, Atalante, we're constantly bothered with the cruelty people.
thanks annie. she is quite the girlie
be8/55, Judi.
I take the stance of pack leader - respect is important
the 8 is be 4/7 to the max
cesar milan would be proud of you lickety
Ty. Silly word.
bbnaz - I love that show!
what he says and does is so true
I love the dog whisperer!!
yeah - I felt really good after watching that show - but also learnt so much.
we have tried that with out doggie, and she has responded perfectly!
having grown up with dogs, it was just innate. i now look back and find it amusing when folks would ask me to "train" their dogs and I would explain that unless they did what I did, it wouldn't last. Little did I know that I was bonding with Cesar
nite nite all! lovely to see you guys!
nite dear!
Good night mrpresident, sleep well.
bbnaz - yeah it's great to see that show - for all those people we have observed as having 'no idea'. It's funny how we seem to learn how to treat dogs.
and how offended folks become when you try to help them. funny thing though, cesar seems to validate those of us who have done it all along.
I'm off too, have a good grid. see ya at the flip
nite madame pres
Good night lickety.
thanks for your help lickety
Just reading back in the log - cats and dogs DO get senile.
Really, Haz? What might the symptoms be?
Getting cantankerous, confusion etc, much like humans.
Strange. I never really experienced that with a pet. Just old age things like illness, arthritis, incontinence, blindness, going deaf, etc.
I don't know whether it's because animals are living longer, or maybe that they have now put a name to something that was just dismissed as odd behaviour before.
g morning
Good morning harpjane.
good afternoon everyone....
Lo, Harpjane!
Good afternoon Zen.
And Zenmed!
Well the news is that a friend of mine knows Mr Haz!
Dear me.
are there any rw words?
Is that worrying, Haz?
There are no rw words.
It's surprising but not surprising at the same time. When I'm out with him, it's like EVERYONE knows him.
what a relief
small town incestuousness
So, do I get a clue as to the identity of your friend? Or the context?
Oooh. Another 6 degrees of Babble moment.
Well, rest easy - she only had vey good words to say about him. "Oh, Mr Haz - lovely man"....
I must say, I agree with her. He is lovely.
He's put up with me for 25 years. The man is a saint....
G'd morning Babblers!
you must have good taste then Haz - Babble & Hubby....
Hello Lori - you're late joining us today?
I was s'posed to be working, but the days plan fell throuugh, so I have the rest of the day to screw off, er I mean catch up on housework.
I do, Zen. He can't understand my addiction to the game but doesn't grumble.
Oh, housework catching up. The best fun a girl can have.
Yah, and I'm always so worried about our level of neatness...... :-)
Yes, I always get that vibe from you, Lori.
You could be addicted to worse, Haz
LOL Yah, you read me like a book haz. :-) Quiet crowd today. What a studious group!
This is very true, Zen.
I have a man coming over today to fit me with a fusion stimlator to help recover from the surgery. I plan to tell people at work that the aliens are controlling me through the electrodes.
last pe5.20 clue please?
fusion stim for what type of surgery if i may ask?
This is the lull, Lori. There was much chat earlier on.
that should be stimulator.
I had a cervical fusion
Sounds very Back to the future, Delorean-ish Gail :-)
ah so it is to stim the bones regnereration?
I hope things improve for ya' Gail. Good things to ya!
pe5/20 - a shortend version of a bird? pe plus a singular version of what you're supposed to keep about you in a crisis
I think I will have fun with it. Yes, and to help the plate stay in place, too, I guess.
shortened.
Well, I'm off for a bit of lunch; bye all....
no idea what you are on about haz
Bye Zen. Maybe see you later.
Later Zen.
pe5/20 - first three letters are those of a means of church seating, then the neutralcounterpart to he or she.
OMG, Gail... A fusion stimulator. Sounds like the "Orgasmatron" in the movie, Sleeper (Woody Allen).
never mind monkeyed it but understand you now
i do understand that one clue though, thanks haz
i was keeping my calm instead of the other.........
Okay, good.
Ooooh, I had forgotten about that. I work in a Psychiatrist's office, better be careful what I say there.

Affirmative.
Differing by the last letter only
Good Morning all :) Thought for today... How long a minute is depends on which side of the bathroom door you're on.
Hello cybernan.
does anyone have the alpha numerics for those ts words?
it also depends if you are using a computer or not! i discovered very early on that "one minute" on a computer is at least ten in real life
true, fordy -- or even an hour!

ty pab

Okay, good.
Yay!
where's FM today?
She's been AWOL for a while, hasn't she?
And no god of love for excuse. She'll probably claim that work has got in the way.
she has! you don't she's *gasp* working, do you?
I fear so, Atalante. Either that or she has been inspirted to start up home schooling.
home schooling the DoD?
inspired. Though inspirted sounds good too, especialy as regards the DoD.
has she managed to get you a photo of this Great Dog yet?
No! I'm left to let my imagination run riot.
I hope she does at some point, its really the coolest thing!
As far as I can make out, it's a bekilted Scottish terrier streeeeeeetched round a mug.
Hi :)
http://dogsinthenews.com/issues/0106/a rticles/010609a.htm
check it out Haz :)
But a dog with extraordinary powers, all the same. Just in need of a bit of home schooling to bring it up to scratch.
kiiiind of! I wish I'd taken a photo, I just didnt think to
does anyone know what the 8 is?
It's not Betty the spaniel, Liz?

Good afternoon/morning Eva.

Go as a nun and a clown
As long as you're clothed....
You can be ''virgin' on the ridiculous'
last year, i was rainbow brite + he was bogey from the shirt-tales...we kinda went with the 80s cartoon theme
make that one up yourself flip :P
unfortunately, my greatest costume idea ever was with the ex...
go as herin and the cat of glory

But DON'T feed on curried sausages and lentils.

It would clear the room, you mean.

one letter different from the nappy word
(phantom: disease)
Oh, duh. I had that, but had it in my head it needed to be a di6/21. Sorry.
And I've even greyed out that D, so I might have known there could be no further di's. Sigh. It's hard work being dense.

lol on a roll vicuna
But then, so did you, Une!

lol -- with a full enough grid (or one full in the right way), chat could really be curtailed
afternoon babblers!! This grid is quite fun today
Yes, indeed. I remember once "sorry" was int he grid. Then we had nothing but trouble!
hey, shawnee!
just think what chaos would ensue if 'sorry,' 'penalty,' 'oops,' 'chat,' and 'chocolate' were all in the grid
howdy shawnee
Hello, shawnee. I'm finding it rather slow going.
Would have been on sooner, but had to see for myself if Days of Our Lives really would kill off John Black.
Oooh, I'd love to see chocolate in there!
yesterday, a couple folks were upset that some particular c- words were accepted -- hope they miss today's grid
Clue please for the pe6/21-it's my last word & getting on my last nerve! lol

cg: the 5 is a word meaning 'place'
and often shows up prefixed by 'in-' or 'home-'
st5.12 something serves you in good st + first vowel, second vowel, and then the third consonant
HELP WITH DE6, 21 AND DI6,24
st5/12 rhymes with the thing atop your neck that houses your brain
de6/24 more lifeless
de 6.21 -- rhymes with the wheel you ride at a fair
haven't gotten those yet, luv
di6.24 - a bad spelling of another word for nappies

n. An anticlinal fold in which a mobile core, such as salt or gypsum, has pierced through the more brittle overlying rock.

oh. well. I guess I was at least nearish
Une -- how old is your springer?
bbnaz i could do with your interlect at uni
FYI that pic is me as a baby in my mom's doll buggy guarded by my grandfather's dogs Dub and Glad!
Time for me to get back to writing. Good luck all, and thanks for the great clues
the springer in my Fickr pix is my mom's dog, Derby--he's 7 I think
on your flickr individual photo.........
aahh. my family used to raise them a long time ago
I had cousins in Louisiana who raised black and white springers--so beautiful--I just love spaniels of any kind!
they just don't live long enough for me so I switched breeds
to australian shepherds
my mom got her springer from a man who had adopted him, then developed allergies--too bad for him but great for my mom!
spaniels are woooonderful
once however there was an accidental breeding between my brother's springer and my aussie and we had "Springing Aussies"
really, bbnaz? My springer lived to almost 16
ours never seemed to go much past 12/13
maybe it was the desert
jeez, bbnaz, major hyperness, eh?!
they actually were pretty nice pups. My brother insisted that his dog wasn't responsible despite the fact that every puppy had spaniel ears........
here's my springer when he was a baby :-)
just think, if we did that now, we could sell them as "designer" dogs instead of an accidental breeding.
true!
darling boy!
dang he is cute!
ata, his mom's name was Jenny and I told my daughter Jennifer that she was named after her . . .
i remember all of those springer litters as a child. we would name them and then be heartbroken when they went to their new homes
I remember when my mom's springer Rosebud had a litter of NINE--soooo much fun!
here's mine as a "grownup"
awwwwwwwwwwwwww!
the last one we had in our family belonged to my dad. His name was Boone (for Daniel of course). He was a rescue.
such a sweet goofwad!
mine was Bonaparte but everyone ended up calling him Bonie--I wanted to name him Cyrano but my mom freaked out! LOL
ok, down to 32 and going for the list . . .
Fireworks :-)
woohoo, katie!!!!!!!!!!
whooo hoo fireworks thanks for help everyone

*being*
be8 - the most be4/7.
ty
the li5/10 sounds like a liquid measurement but spelt differently
any clues for the be6/30 the first one? absolutely stumped
li5/10 - li + cons. + first **d
be6/30 - the person who uses the sleeping place.
Afternoon, kids. Just had to pop back in to finish my last 12.

One adorned with be4/7.

at a slant, sandie
oh that was so obvious!!!! How did I miss it!!!! ty so much.
Evening all
I only just found it too lol
aha we were wondering where you were
Who me? Work and all that sort of stuff
thought so. we were all discussing it earlier lol
and, er, um, am not babbling today. Looks round guiltily
we decided you were either working or home schooling the DoD
I'm here, if anyone has missed me
I give up! can anyone clue me the sa5/14 plz?
LOL DoD is perfect. Hi mm
Been to see Resident Evil: Extinction today
Trouble with not doing the grid means I can't clue. Strange feeling. How was it mm?
hey, can someone explain the shorthand to me? not sure what "sa5/14" means, for example
Pretty good, FMitch, a damn sight better than Apocalypse, that's for sure (but then, Russell Mulcahy would have had to perform a major massacre on Extinction for it NOT to have been better than Apocalypse)
1st 2 letters of the word, 5 letters long and then No of points.
mike, sa5/14 means that the first 2 letters of the word are sa, it is 5 letters long and is worth 14 points
aha = got it
the only good bit about Apocalypse was ODded Fehr
i see... but how does one know that a 5-letter, 14-point word exists? (if you can't tell, this is my first time playing)
fireworks!!!!!!!! phew those last few were tricky.
sa5/14 "unhappy" + not her !
LOL you will have to be initiated into the secrets of the 2nd letter list mike *grin* but be warned this game is addictive - I've just stated cold turkey. Congrats Sandie
can I help anyone with clues before I go?
Look at the bottom of the screen under Firends of Babble and click on Lickeys clues Mike for 2nd letter list
A-HA! THAT HELPS!
thanks!
Ok gonna watch some TV - Happy Babbling all.
Hey Ata - did I miss anything today, or was all peace and quiet?
are there 2 sep words? anyone know?
I think you got the highlights through email

congrats seano. Hey Uni :)
isnt that amazing! when the sun looks like it couldn't shine out of his backside!
se5/12 Passover meal
Even the floor tiles?
hey, fmitch!
LOL Ata he can hold a big lump of butter in his mouth and it wouldnt melt
Oh yes! The floor tiles are a speciality. He first removes the grout, digs the tile up, chews it till it cracks then digs a hole underneath for good measure
Uni, your pupster in the pic playing at "brides"?
(I had interrupted her TV viewing . . . )
Holly and Jake once managed to get out of a pen floored with concrete at the kennels. Jake managed to exploit a crack in the concrete and destroyed one corner till they can escape!
That takes skill to do that Liz. Re yr last TMA 02 is due 16 Nov
Oh he's quite exceptional LOL! I still have all my marked TMA's and notes if I can help with anything at all.
Liz I mayy take you up on that thanks, would love to have a chat about it sometime?

OMG Liz! i can't believe all that destruction from such a sweet baby! (ha! yes i can). what did he do to his leg? or is that your way of keeping him from destroying the rest of the house?
Oh, Hi everyone.
Oh the dejected misery LOL
Didnt he look so sorrowful? Bless him :) He had severed his cruciate ligament and had to have a synthetic one put into the leg instead. It was a year ago now. He was imprisoned in the house for six months. After that I can forgive him anything

both st7's are past tense of the word just above
doh thank you lol

rhymes with pi6/24
lol thank you Sam all done ~fireworks~

woohoo, meliae!!!!
that was a quick and easy grid for the most part
still dont have that be 5/16 though. wow.
it's the plural of be4
to aim is to take a be** on
got it. wow.
pural glass things you put on strings

42 mins on that grid I think I just about beat my record for a grid that size
impressive, meliae!
of course it helps when there isnt a ton of strange words too, lol
I haven't got that tw 5/20 *yet*, because I havn't had coffee today--any other hints?
tw5/20 is a mild form of a putdown . . . you little tw***!!
if you are upset at someone you might say why you little tw*** what did you do that for? rhymes with a bird sound that starts with CH

no a pox on them, i say!!!!
no a pox on them, i say!!!!
i don't think you CAN say a pox on them, as that has a p
*hplaces hands onhips* i can, it's not in the grid! : P
lol
i think i'll curse b's and d's while i'm at it
nasty bunch of consonants anyway

i have the first pair that looks scottish, then the night before christmas, then a combo about being a jerk
me, too
if there are more... well, they have to have another t in them
well there are like 4 words that could be classed as being a jerk
i was leaving out the last two in my summing up
because they were clearly not the second.

oh, good on ya
ty hursh for the clues. hey hursh did YOU se the film "word play"?

lol
sorry to, i'm playing scrabble with feather so i'm not totally here
on that note, hursh, i bid you adieu! dmoani!
that was actually domani , enigmatically speaking
can someone clue the de6/27 and de 6/21?
garbage can be called de****. last letter is silent and seems plural but isnt
Hi, folks.
de 6 21 i dont have so clues welcome
TO - Theme for Thur 18 is 'Faces of Beautiful Old People' from Sprite.
ah ty - i didn't look up along that side
de6/21 is a type of insecticide dust. Rhymes with a fairground ride Fe*** wheel.
ty Jacula
Fe**** (sorry)
y/w, lideola.
any clues for be last two are be 5/14 and 6/24 which i bet is the plural?
got it but never head of it jacula. ty
ok last word- the di 6... is the 3rd letter a vowel or consonent?
di6/24, lideola, sounds like what we in UK call a 'nappy'.
mkg- it sounds like slang for someone who gambles money
3rd letter is a vowel.
what a baby wears on its bottom, but change last vowel.
ty firworks
gambler??????????
i got te 6 and 7. not sure what this is.
mkg - the be5/14 sounds like a gambler. Or someone ill now cured.
got it..........got it
be5/14 = Miss Midler + vowel.
Goood....
hello all! YAY lideola!
time for class back after 930 pm.
got it ty all for clues.........
Back in a mo. Just off to check the tumble dryer has removed all the bits of tissue off my last load of washing. Grr.
bye mkg
ok i have no idea what to make of the video today
its certainly entertaining
anyone need cluing?
well, I have 68 to go lideola... I'll tell you in about 90 minutes! LOL
yesterday's was interesting... my kid enjoyed it but it wasn't really my "thing"
was that the painter/Bruce Lee one?
yes, that was it. kid didn't know who it was!
ah just tell him it was the original Jackie Chan
or Jet Li
I'm back. After a 20 min blast in the dryer on the coolest setting every shred of tissue is now off the clothes and in the lint trap. Phew!! Now I can dry them on the airer.
isn't that the pits Jacula?
sounds like neither child will be getting any privileges today *sigh* parenting stinks
Lid - qhwn you leave a tissue in a pocket? Sure is. The tumble dryer trick saves ages of dabbing at clothes with sticky tape wrapped around your hand or using a lint roller.
is the be 8 a compound word?
*when (not qhwn! Is that Chinese? LOL)
oh, the alien that abducted my children and left ghoulish golems in their place yesterday has come to your house today stid?
stid - No. It's a superlative of a necklace component.
thanks jacula
no stid, but you might have to twist the word in a different direction than you were looking at
does anyone have a clue for the last de 6 handy?
Samantha - last de6 is another word for rubbish or litter.
(Often used to describe bits left around after a violent storm.)
No, that's the first one. Unless that's trus of both?
i think its the other one Jac- the one that rhymes with the carnival Wheel
its only 1 letter different from the rubbish
Sam - Sorry. Last de6 is an insecticide dust. Rhymes with fairground ride fe**** wheel.
got it, thanks jac and lid
OK, that gave me what I needed to monkey it. Thanks so much.
tumpty tumpty tiddledy
ooh. got the de 6. thanks!
You sound happy, hursh.
I love it when clues just magically appear...
oh, it's how lord peter does the tune of "sir roger de coverley"... but i guess i am happy, for i am creaming feather at scrabble
hello dear hursheroo!
go hurshy go!!!! ;-)
Where do you play, hursh? At Scrabbleblast?
Weboggle now has a new beta version but I can't get it to register me.:(
Guten Abend babblers, I have updated my icon. So from now on you can look up all German words I throw into the chat in this dictionary!! :)
Why thank you, kind inge.:)
oh oh, German shepherd trying to type... not working so well! guten abend inge! wie geht's?
i really need to move... the 2 armored truck guards that were killed happened about 5 minutes from my house, and now a high speed police chase (bank robbers) crashed about 3 blocks away... the helicopters (or ghetto birds) have been hovering all afternoon/evening
Fireworks, and i'm outta here--thanks for your help, all
y/w, Samantha.
I am fine. Took my last group of German tourists thru Detroit and Henry Ford Museum yesterday. Hapag Lloyd will no longer bring German tourists to the US because of the border restrictions
Oh dear, lideola. We had our high street in our little village all closed off on Sunday morning due to a 15-yr-old getting his skull caved in on the Saturday night.
oh what a shame Jac
that is too bad inge, sehr schade!
And I used to think that Detroit was the REALLY dangerous place
YAY samantha, btw!
oh lideola and jac, what horrible things!
I don't like cities....
i love them... but i have 2 little children, and i don't want them exposed to these things... i want to be outside with them and not worry about tripping and falling on broken glass at the playground
I love our current location, halfways between Ann Arbor and Detroit. Wooded area, so we cant see any othr houses most of the year
the last DE 6/21 please?
i have won my first online scrabble game!
now i gotta finish this grid!
lideola - our village is the sort of place that people say, 'Where?' when you say its name... because there's a by-pass road and to people mostly ... pass by. The only time we seem to get in the news is for bad things... a hostage situation where the police ended up shooting the hostage instead of the hostage taker, a hammer attack right by the police station, an armed seige right by my house, a machete attack in the now demolished local pub that left a man with no hands, another hammer attack, and now what looks like much the same again (thump on head with blunt instrument).
YAY hurshy!!!! **WOOT**
that is the one that rhymes with the big Wheel ride at the carnival
oh Jac- tough crowd!
I don't even live in the city! I'm 10 miles from the nearest and 20 from the one in the other direction.
all I can think is carousel lid...
i am re-reading the five red herrings, and stranraer - or is it stanraer? - is in it
and that's near ballymena and haz!
no- the veritcal one stid- Fe Wheel
and then i had a dream that i went on a massive trip, to seattle, part of canada, and then somehow winding up on a highway with an exit to ballymena, and i was saying, i have to go visit haz!
oh! thanks lideola! *thinking and looking*
the London Eye
stranraer is in Scotland not Ireland. LOL
got it! was working off the wrong d
who said anything about ireland?
ok off to work- keep your head down Jacula!
take care all and see you tomorrow
hursh - Ballymena is in N. Ireland.
LOL hurshy, quite an afternoon's jaunt! rofl
later lideola! thanks!
well do they take the ferry then? i remember them saying they could go there
Willl do, Lid. Byeee.
hursh - Yes, you can get a ferry.
Belfast -> Stranraer. Not a short journey, though.
well anyway i had HEARD of it from haz and so i had this association and it set off this whole dream thingy and it was funny bc there was this monorail, over water, twisting scarily through the air
okay, sixes aren't my thing today. DI 6 per piacere?
hi stid, di 6 like what a baby wears on its behind dif last vowel
Sorry, hursh. Just realised you were talking about a dream.
thanks knitter!
oh! I saw the COOLEST website with knitted things that are -teensy- she knits with wires! do you want the URL?

ooo yes stid do share
Go on, Hursh (with the dream)...
di 4: stops living?
LOL brb, have to find it...
oh geez
Hi, ak.
http://www.bugknits.com/
oh, well, that was most of it. there was a gift shop i stopped at somewhere... i was with my family... my sister was scared on the monorail, i could see the space needle from it... they didn't understand why i wanted to go to ballymena...
*passes smelling salts to knitter*
currently working on the et 5.... *hopeful look&*
You mean 'they' had not heard of the Famous Haz, hursh? I am shocked!;)
oh, i hope heather still does well!

et5 = e + music cassette.
e + adhesive
OMG she has way to much free time. those little things are amazing (using smelling salts liberally)
eglue? sounds inuit...
thanks hurshy! *grin*
if you put mine and jac's together you can't miss
I thought they were darling, but of course I lack the patience for a full-size potholder...
i have reached the dreaded 14...
go hurshy go! (35 here)
ah but knit a mini and you'd be done in a flash
first pa 5/12 please?
if it's not a homonym of exchanges cash for items, i want to know what it is too
use the first 3 from the pa 4 add a snake and the first vowel
thanks knitter!
that does the pa for me!
for the next change the last to another vowel
pa5/12 (1st) pa + personal pronoun + abbreviation for the opposite of North Africa.

LOL jac!
okay folks, need the last pe 5 please?
oooh maybe i do too
pe + a sharp *** sense of humor
evening, all
thanks knitter! that gives me a second grey column!
use my dictionary! pe 5 is the German word for quiet with a pinstead of an l in front
hi pam. working through a mini-migraine... getting hard to focus
snarl, i want that clue back, i only have 1 grey column
oh come on heather!
happy to help if I can knitter
i am in need of 120 clues please
a sharp ass sense of humor?
could be that
okay, the first word is a poisonous snake (ad 5/14), then plural, then plural word for helper, then the type of primate humans are, then...
(((((hugs)))))) stid
thanks pam. kid just brought me some tylenol, will see if that helps.
but aknitter, did you mean like a w*** ass?
then what .....
oh. then "on the ocean" then plural what you do for supper (rhymes with number word)
I'm back. Did I just hear someone type and then backspace delete 'smug bitch'? That's not very friendly! *grins*
oh no sorry hursh, remember 3/s company on TV? Joyce de*** the actress
tylenol laughs at my head pain...
Hi, jac
Hi, pam.
jac did you iron your wrinkled (yet freshly washed) tissues???
ak - LOL, no. I binned them.
lol, i see an "oh come on heather" here!
that was a reference to america's next top model
:)
you could have reused them jac
Another thing I frequently end up laundering is P's plastic toothpicks. He leaves them everywhere!
i washed an pocket full of alcohol prep pads today. they were in the pocket of my lab coat.
ak - not unless I'd sewn the shreds together. I know I'm a seamstress but there are limits.
ak - just throw some bacardi rum over them and they'll be read to use again. Recycling.
phantom: diatribe....
brb phone
you'd think i would learn to check them first i do it so often
Has TO been on today?
pam - To was here about an hour ago.
i have typed in the word disaster at least 100 times today
ak - same here with the tissues and toothpicks.
Thanks, Jac.
Yes, disaster and disea** were my 2 phantoms today.
that was stidgmere, she says hello...
jac have you read that dictionary in your icon?
i like those, jac. But diatribe can describe me...
No, ak. I found the pic online. I might seek it out though.

and, ren, yours fits, too!
sa* = male
well, here is a different shade
whoa! mellow yellow!
LOL so bright inge! sehr schoene!
and it is not square!
inge - you've just ruined the shading. LOL
i'm planning scrabble revenge with hurshy, but it's not going well already
I can't see it! *sob* what D am I supposed to use????
Feather, do you know how popular your new son's name is? My 8 yer old German student has three Nicks in his third grade
LOL feather, vengeance is not usually a good policy....
stid - what d where you looking for?
the one in the sa 5/14...
it isn't? shucks!
yeah, i have a nicholas, and also a logan!
Sorry, Jacula, shall I throw my dictionary into your washtub for some darkening or bleaching?
got it... thanks anyway jac

inge - I have a purple sheet in the machine right now. I'll put your icon in with that, shall I?

*offers knitter my last word as appeasement*
at 5: "askew"
a + t4, that is
I never knew sheep growled, ak. I've heard them grunt but never growl. *ducks missiles*
they growl and snarl and do all sorts of things when they are word challenged
I am everything challenged at the moment!
I can see that, ak. :D
except the tylenol seems to be working... so I am finally getting my head back in the right space
you can see i am word challenged tonight?
No, I mean I can see your sheep is growling etc.
do you need aw 4?
Sorry you were not feeling well, stid.
i need be 6/30 #1
me too relarion, but hoping that tomorrow will be more fun
ak - past tense of the be4/7.
be 6/30; past tense be 4/7; a type of handbag that is elegant
snap, jac!
of for gosh sake
I can see the be4/7s of sweat on Ak's brow now.
and the be 8 is a superlative of that be 4/7....
stid, glad that the tylenol is working! yay!
I will keep a good thought, stid. Are there high winds projected where you are? (In WA, right?)
the be 8 is so not a word
it is so, describes the eyes of one who is the most envious....
It is, AK! Think 'the best eyesight'.
yes, there are, but I don't know how much to worry. We had so many trees fall last december that I suspect most of the ones that could come down already have...
point taken but it sounds stupid
We've done it again, stid!
aha! the video is a perfect "hook" to get the kid to do his math homework!
my eyes must be VERY poor--don't see the superlative..
Don't know about the vids as I don't use Lickety Expert (except when forced into the chat by vile Antipodean schoolchildren).
pam, there are TWO vowels required for the superlative
be 6/30 #2 please
I do have the website that archives the vids though. I must catch up sometime.
be 6/30#2: a person who makes up the piece of furniture that you sleep on?
and plural of course for the 7
ah stid that would be me and i am def not in the puzzle
be6/30 - Juan Huan, Romeo... those sort of men are those re 'wenches'.
not seeing that darned 8.... grrrr...
pam - for be8 - go left after the 2nd letter. Then you'll get there.
okay pam... be 4/7 + "me" but subject form + superlative
see! pam growls too it is NOT just me LOL
slap me with a cod....
AK - I was growling earlier, too, when a tissue I'd left in a pocket shredded all over my washing load.
thanks, all, for your patience
LOLOL, aknit!
SLAP!
rofl
LOLOL
last be 5/14>

Hello, herin.

Hey herin.
stid - that's an easier clue. I always go all around the houses with mine. LOL.
I'm fine now I've got the shredded tissue off my laundry load, thanks, Herin.
Gotta love that Jac
My house mate has just returned from work sounding like a God Father Extra
He has padding in his mouth, herin?
perhaps he is carrying a horse head
Nope lost his voice
LOL - AK.
I like that AK
So long as he doesn't have a pack of butter with him...
:((
Was that a reference to the movie with Maria Schneider?
Last Tango....
last br 5/13 plz?
Right. Convenient amnesia ;)
Oops! Got the two mixed up. LOL
LOLOLOLOL
br5/14, praise? Like the br4/6 referring to someone from UK but with double consonant ending.
ty jac
*Lifts chin high in haughty fashion and pretends she didn't make a blooper filmwise.*
I thought it was very hip and obscure Jacula.
y/w, praise. Ignore this lot. They're Phillistines. LOL
relarion - *grasps at straws*. Yes, yes. It was.
sa 5/14 please and ty
LOL
Hip and Obscure 'R' Us. LOL
It's like the Fran Drescher joke: No matter how fat you may get, always pass it off as voluptuous.
sa5/14 = depressed male, maybe?
depressed male hmmmm
Hmmm, relarion. Sounds like an e-mail list I recieved about what dating column speak really means.
I got that one...
sa* + male
My metaphor was obscure I'm afraid.
relarion - that's the only sa5/14.
Good evening to my fellow babblers! How is everyone?
If you meant sa5/12 then that's the past tense of sa4/4 (satisfied appetite).
By the way, congratulations to all the finishers! YAY!
This grid seems pretty easy. Of course I say with 105 to go.
Hi min
Hello Minver. WTTG.
relarion - it's not an unfriendly grid.
I need the two li5/10s please
Jacua, I think that your dictionary would be perfect for me.That's how I feel doing the grid!Like your icon

Hello Krista! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid
Hi Krista.
HI Krista. Jac its not that exciting thats why im forking it
ty pam
Hello, krista. We have a mad woman using a knife and fork to consume a bacon sandwich here.
2 phantom words for me tonight are pasta and water
Herin - you need to update your cooking skills. LOL.
anyone have a clue for the de 6/21?
Hey i blame the bacon
Mind you, my ex-hub was here last week using a knife and fork to eat a pizza. LOL
Knife/fork pizza sigh
im just poking this grid
LOL! Reminds me of having my husband's English grandmother and cousin here, and we were eating fried chicken, with our fingers, as usual. They were using a knife and fork. I felt like a sloppy American.
herin - too thin and watery? The bacon, I mean. Oh sorry, off to 'LOL' now re shades of Fawlty Towers.
Yes the bacon. It smelt good and it was all fine then i ate it and bler. I miss my Italian butcher
de6/21 is an insecticide powder. Rhymes with fairground ride, fe**** wheel.
pizza eaten with a knife and fork is not right, LOL...
Or maybe a film, Fe**** Bueller's Day Out.
li 6/21 please
I do that when the cheese is too hot and I can't wait.
thanks jacula--never heard of that one
these clues I am getting, jac, lol... thanks.
I don't krista, I burn my mouth, LOL
See cheese hot = burnt mouth
I asked for li6/21 awhile ago,but got no clue aknitter
take the fork and swirl the molten cheese on it...blow, and eat. :)
li6/21 is a fatty word, AK, to do with the breakdown of fats in the body.
Ok, I always get hungry on here.
me, too, krista...
mmmmm sounds good im going to make mixed berry muffins soon
li* (you have 2 surrounding your mouth) + definite article vowel + abbreviation for south east.

Krista, thanks for your educational profile. You learn something new everday, especially here in Babbleland
Thanks but no not into Baklava

It is kind of silly, Pam...pass the Baklava and no one will get hurt...LUV that stuff
Nuts and honey and lemon are good for you!
Hee hee Min...just learned it myself. I tried to find a weird one.
LOLOLOLOL
Krista - I thought my Mum was going to storm down the phoneline when I asked her if she wanted to share the Baklava with me. She hasn't had any for 20 years, not since Mrs. Papadopuloses'.
I tried to find a weird one too,but came up with this boring picture dictionary. I love seeing other icons!
thinking baking muffins (nearly typed muggins) and then having fresh coffee
i give up and need clue for li 5/10 i cant get it.
Thing is, my Mum also reminisced over another dessert from my Gran's Greek neighbours'... it had 'cheese, maybe feta?' in it and 'raisins'. She did ask for the recipe but Mrs. P. didn't know how to write it down in English. Can anyone help?
he 6/27 plz?
First time I had it, was in the hospital with a Greek roommate and her mom brought me some...why so long for your Mum, Jac?
li 5/10 is li plus cross letter plus 2 vowel and other is li plus *w** the night before christmas mkg.
Hello mkg! How are you doing? Welcome to the puzzle
He he**** the sheep through the meadow, praise.
hi min.
http://www.greek-recipe.com/
Your job sounds fun, Min. And very fulfilling.
he6/27, praise, is the past tense of what the man getting his sheep all in a bunch did.
Moussaka.
ty relarion
I do enjoy my job. However, there's too much politics
Krista - No, not moussaka. LOL. This was a dessert.
You know, that is the very thing that kept me from being a teacher. We have several in the family, and the politics ruins their jobs.
Happy Hunting jack
http://www.greek-recipe.com/
Oh, sorry Jac, was just thinking of Greek food and that popped into my head. Wasn't referring to your question. Just hungry now!
Try that site
Krista - 'Cos my gran's been de4 for 15 years, Greek neighbours left about 4 years before that and I've not made Baklava before.
herin - I've done all the greek sites including those that need to be translated. No joy so far.
Hi I'm new on the board hope it's okay to butt in
I try to ignore all the politics and remember that I'm there for the kids and NOT for the politicians Krista.
Mum can't remember the name of the dish.
anyone have the li 5 i need? pleeeeeeeeeeeezzzzzzzzzz?
Hello cgypsy! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid
hi all
thanks - doing great love the game
min--i forget--are you a teacher?
whats in it?
Krista - BTW. I make great moussaka. I know 'cos a Greek person told me I do. LOL
I thought it should be easy to find there, Jac (baklava). I'll go look on herin's site for that cheese/raisin thing..Min, that's great..I'm sure you're wondeful at what you do.
I clued the 2 li 5/10 words for you at 8:26. Look back
herin - cheese (feta) she thinks + raisins...

I hope someone clues that pe5/12 (and 6/24)
Does anyone have a clue for the et 6/21 word please
e + an adhesive
I wish I had, min :/
pe5/12 is plural of pe 4/5. Only pe5/12 I have so far.
Jac--could it have been a sweet-vs savory--feta cheese pie?
Thanks, herin. I just re-emerged from laundry room after wrestling with cat who wanted out as both the washing machine and the tumble dryer were working. Miraculously, he's still in his bed and I am unscratched. He must be in a good mood or something.
Thank you for the et 6/21 clue. I just found the word
welcome min
praise2you, praise, for the et words *dodging fish*
pam - maybe. The cheese things are from Crete. However, the family were from Cyprus. Do Cypriot recipes help with the hunt?
Hi peeps. pe6/21 is a coin, kind of a riff on the Mexican dollar, jilli
firworks...............
could someone clue the 8?
pe 6/24 word is pe plus opposite of not happy jiilubus
YAY mkg!!!
yeah, having no luck with Greek ones with those ingredients
pe6/24 word is pe + opposite of not happy plus vowel
hmm, jac,.... back to the hunt
Congratulations mkg on your fireworks! Good for you
hey, maybe we have the makings of a new online game..finding recipes from just a few of the ingredients...nah, don't think it would be too popular
the 8 ... it's built on the be4/7 that's 2 above it - the superlative of it, sort of
Hello tygerbryght! How are you? Welcome to the grid
thx
i'm in good spirits tonite, better than my body (rained here this pm). how about you?
krista, I think it's alsready there at epicurious
wow, thanks, I didn't even SEE that D over in the corner!

be8 = superlative of be4/7. Think of the best eyesight.
yw
I'm doing well tygerbryght, but will not finish the grid

jilli - I'll check out epicurious for my Mum's dish.
So sorry jillibus!I do not have that pe 6/24 word yet.
both be 5/14s?
di6?
pe6= pe + I just real**** you needed a clue (Brit. spelling)
1st pe6/24 is past tense of the pe5/12 before it, jilli.
be 5/14 is beauty and the be*** and other is anagram
Darn, all the good ideas are taken, Jilli. :)
cypriot cheese cake uses anari cheese and can have raisins, jac
there are 4 be5/14 words, beauty and the ****, two plurals, and.,..
praise, for the first be5/14, think of a feature of Revelations
Krista - they almost always are. However, that doesn't sstop us Babblers fom doing our own version on BabAnon.
jac, I blush to say I haven't got the pe5/12
the second one is plural of the be4/6 above it
the last be5/ is a fish
pam - that sounds more like it. Recipe please?
the first pe6/24 is NOT in the dictionary. I tried several sites. it's past tense of the preceding pe5/14
well, see, that's the thing, Jac. It's alluded to, not defined... ducking, I say this...
pe 5/12 word adds a vowel to the pe 4/5 word jillibus
jilli - pe5 = pe + personal pronoun + south east.
what other clues have I missed requests for?
Another pe5/12 word is pe+to be plus a vowel jillibus.
flo[p
thanks, jac
...And I couldn't have given you that clue yesterday since both east and west were in the grid and almost south, too, as I recall.
lol, jac!
EEK! In this grid. *slopes off to penalty box*
there, there, jac. It wasn't intentional
oh, just found the dear little pe5/20 :D

Does anyone have a clue for the pe 6/21 word please
Thanks, krista!

di6= baby wear, alternate spelling
braiiiiiiinnnnnnnnnnnnnnnssssssssss

The pe 6/21 word is pe plus a se 4/4 word word pam.
enjoy your food, Min
thanks
Myzithra seems to be the one, jilli. I've saved the recipe.
that's what I do understand, min, it's the se that I don't see
di6/24 is a geology term. 1st 2 syllables like what we "yanks" put on babies, last syllable sounds like where you dock a boat, but only one vowel in the middle
last de6, anybody?
falling asleep here
don't do that, herin! :)
the last de6?
de + double consonant + he **, you are
I cant its midday here
i just looked it up, tygerb, very interesting
that di (nappy) clue's real meaning is "a dome, or anticline, the upper regions of which have been ruptured and penetrated by material squeezed up from below." Make the worst of it, lol
i wish it was friday, I"d look for a picture
Quite right to say that, to herin, tyger. But YELL at her, or else she slaps her kead on keybaord and posts message 10 times. LOL
Dan, think of what you use to hoist something, clip off the last syllable, and put in the first 3 letters of a 4 letter word for "chance"
thanks Jellen! that's fireworks for me
I see you looked it up, jilli :)
Or even her head. LOL. It's 2.57am here and I must be off soon.
yes, tyger, and thanks for the giggle
'night all..chat with you later..
Congrats, dan!!!
yw
G'night, Krista
Only did that once thanks
congrats, Dan
jac, I hope you've perused my dictionary
jilli - I looked that up, too. Didn't think the true definition would help a lot with clueing. LOL
night, Krista
Herin - 3 times!
its one of those lazy weekend days
darn still not getting the diaper one
Only kidding about anyway, herin. Don't take offence.
praise, just change the last vowel
praise, change the last vowel to i
NOne taken
:D
Praise, it's a weird word. the landing place for a boat isn't a dock, it's a **** - rhymes with beer
jilli - of course!
jellen's clue is better, tho
:) jac
I think I've got about 10 minutes before I risk doing what you guys say herin does, so if I can help, let it be soon! :)
ok im off to make muffins and coffee back min
of course, when I doze off at the computer, I sag off to the side
clues? has everybody got the hard ones now?

Last night it was DC

tyger.. you can be the rhythm section again if your voice isn't up to it :)
Hi Tyger and everyone.. just lgged in to th emusic.

UK and US English differences, that's all.
welcome to the party
ts words someone
plz
Amazingly, UK and Antipodean differences aren't so huge.
t + singe s***. Then t + same but with personal pronoun vowel at the end.
Praise, it's an alternate spelling of a Hebrew letter. Try T +name of a famous evil philosopher
very cruel man
mean people are called ***ists
Ah, The Marquis. Nasty chap!
yup
everybody should have that one, now ;D
thanks
ty for the tses
LOL
yw. Second ts word has a different vowel ending, is all
Well, nasty unless you're into all that... like my old schoolfriend who's just invited me to her 2nd wedding is. I was gobsmacked when another old schoolfriend told me this later years revelation. If you could imagine anyone being into S&M, this lady isn't one of them.
Oh, LOL.
got them both thanks
jac, you never know what other people will do behind closed doors
My other old schoolfriend, who's not been invited to the wedding told me to be sure to wear clean undies in case any participation games were played at the reception. HEEEEEELP! LOL
EWW
[jaw drops] ummm, are you going?
can i get a clue for the de 6/21, please?
tyger - That was a song... by Charlie Rich... back in the 70s.
de6/21= de + double consonant + he **, you are
good song
tyger - Yes. I don't think their sexual preferences will be played out in a family gathering.
de6/21 rhymes with a big wheel that goes around and around
wish I'd thought of that hint first time around
I'm sure you're right, jac. the gossip sounds ... jealous??
good evening
hi, flosey
Hi, flosey
Hi Flosey
Hello flosey! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid!
am at my son's and still trying to find the words I had - had only 33 to go
jellen, isn't that the 6/24? i need the last de.
Hi Min and eieios
Hello eieios! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid!
tyger - gossip is true but not jealous. We've all know each other for abpit 40 years. It's just wry smile stuff and 'I'd never have believed that of her!' etc.
Hi, DR. Was on the phone and missed your entrance.
Hi Jell. How are you?
what does 6/24 mean? I'm new
The last de is a 6/24
eieios, try de6/21 rhymes with a big wheel that goes around and around
Does anyone have a clue for the st 7/32 word please?
About 25-50 of us (from the old school) meet up about once a year. It's great fun.
not yet Min
I st***** the batter before pouring it in the pan, Min
st 7/36 is past tense of st 5/12
thx, tyger. i was looking the wrong way.
jellen, on my lickety list, last de 6 is a 21
st7/32 - what you did with the spoon in your coffee.
yw
Oh, duh. Sorry about that, Min.
nevermind, jellen. I've given dupe clues a lot
Thank you for the st 7/32 clue. I just found the word
I'm ditzy tonight, eieios. I did clue the last de, which is a 6/21.
very good
right, so. It's okay :)
tyger - were your last 2 posts for me?
no Jac, unless you need them :)
pa 5/12 pls clue. thanks
Hi Annsabine! How are you doing?Welcome to the grid
Hello tizer! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid!
ty
pa5/12= plural of the pa 4/5 above it.
tizer, pa5/12 is what you do when you stick something to something else. Elmer's glue is what many people use
not that one
pa5/12 is pa + 2 vowels plus snake letter plus a vowel
My main concern, and I'm ashamed to admit this, re the wedding reception is 6 hours on a riverboat, given new no smoking laws in UK.... I can't go 6 hours without a cigarette. Will I be able to go up on deck to have one or will I have to jump overboard 3 times?
not that one
Wait. Which pa 5/12 did you need?
Thanks!
Oh, you want the one below 5/14?
I'm still trying to figure out the #/# thing
Other pa 5/12 is the same ending w/different vowel.
it's one of hte first pa 5/12 before pa*e
suddenly remembered it was the night to put the garbage out for tomorrow's early morning pickup when I won't be up yet. Pickup here is once a week.
Or will I have to don a nicotine patch, sniff on my herbal cigarette emulator AND 'puff' on a plastic ciggy to get through it?
First number is number of letters in word. Second number is number of points word is worth.
the first 2 pa5/12s (together) are different only in the last letter -both vowels
hello babblers!
Hi Fran
great dictionary jac!
Hi, Fran
hi tyger!
hi jellen!
ty that's the one
Hi Fran!
did that help?
hi DR!
yes, jac, and never touch a ciggie again! Thant's what I did in 1989 and am SO glad to be rid of all those filthy ashtrays and such
jilli - that, re garbage, happened to me last night. Due to heavy rain, I had to walk through a drained off lake of water in my side entrance from my neighbour's garden to get bin out.:((
Annsabine, the 1st number is how many letters are in the word and 2nd number is point value of that word.
tizer, do you need more help?
Hi FranMag! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid
hi min!
thanks!
jillli - would that I could re the ciggies. I can diet, no prob. Give up nicotine? Don't seem to be able to.:((
Jac, they say that the key is not to give up on stopping. If you have to stop 49 times, well, just don't give up on #48, okay? (((((jac)))))
Hi
20 min time coffee and fresh muffins at my house
back from the coffee and, herin?
Thanks, tyger.
No back from making muffins to have with coffee
Hello Fran.
jac, I had to take a 5-hour flight from Montreal to Vancouver and face my son and daughter-in-law who had given up, plus grandkids who had been brought up to deplore smoking. I went through it all but there were no patches then, just Nicorette gum, and made it, just to find that sonhy and wife had succemmbed again!
yw, I want to see everybody succeed at that - specially Babblers! :)
Oh, jilli! What a bummer!
but you succeeded, jilli. That's what matters
OH Jilli.. that stinks!
so, in 20 min, herin, you go back to take them out?
But I'm still glad I did it and didn't backslide. Go for it, gal!
Ex-smokers are usually, with the exception of my ex Ma-in-law, who sidles close to smokers to inhale, the worst of the critics.
Not a critic here, jac, just an encourager
not an ex-smoker, jac, but I've seen how tobacco destroys health
They are the ones that waft, sniff and complain the most.
I think that i have a serious coffee adiction. Its 1230pm no coffee, head ache and little attention span also starting to feel ill
it's the caffeine
your turn fran! and i'm going to bed
I'm really glad caffeine doesn't do that much for me, either way
tyger - I have, too. Even seen people dying from lung cancer (family memebers included) wheeling their drips out of the hospice to smoke. I'm an intelligent woman. You'd think that would stop me, wouldn't you?
Yes it is. Jac you can do it if you want it
hi heather!
Hi Feather
just don't give up trying, jac. jilli and I will cheer you along
Hi feather
night feather
I will too Jac!
see, Jac, you've got a whole cheering section here
With help like that, maybe you lot can do what every other 'therapy', including hypnosis, couldn't do.
we'll gladly try!
Thank you all.
absolutely
I hear hynosis is great if you are open to it
I think I'm about to hang it up for tonight. I need Zzzzzzzzzzzzzs
night tyger
Night Tyger
G'night, tyger
night, all. Happy fireworks
herin - I did try to be open... my inner will is strong though. It's Taurean and resents being 'told' what it should and should not do.
oh dear Jac
'Night, tyger. And thanks. xx
i am thinking of getting these muffins and having a coffee then a lie down for 20min
And my rising sign is Aquarius. Not a good combination. LOL
You relax, Herin. *puts on soothing music*
my friend is straightt Scorpio through everything you dont want to upset her
Yah. I think i woke up wrong. You know when you wake up and its not the right time to be awake
herin - I had a b/f like that once.
my d-i-l is Scorpio and disagrees with everything I cherish
Now herin, be still for 20 mins and listen to the music of the waves lapping gently on the sunlit shore... the wind if drifting gently through the palm trees above you and you feel relaxed.... sooo peaceful...
i volunteered for one of those hypnosis shows when my friends dared me...the guy made me sit down after initial screening.
jac -- you know I'm a Taurus too and was not telling youwhat to do, just telling you what I did and was glad about
I have 12 left & would really like to go to sleep. Can I beg for some clues? Some of them may be fish words.
oh i like that. Today is glorious day outside and our hammock died last summer
jilli - Yes, and I know. Thanks. I'll get there.xxx
Go for it, Min!
Does anyone have a clue for the be 8/55 word please
fran -- I was in one of those things where we had to make a line and sway from side to side -- I got the giggles and was eliminated but haubby was a star and did all sorts of funny things :D
Herin - the feeling of ea4 is now creeping upon you slowly. You feel so relaxed and cxomfortable. In the distance, the sun is just beginning to rise...
could I have a clue for be8 please?
the rats eyes were most these
that rat had the be8 eyes!

Hi, th
Hi Tim
Go, Min!
Does anyone have a clue for the di 6/24 word please?
I had to laugh at some of your newer Babbler when lickety's list wasn't posted a couple of days ago. Had to sit on my hands to tell you tht before BJ's list (that some of you didn't like) came along we Babblers babbled without stats or lists. Oh LOL.
can i get some help with the sa's? i need the 5/14 and the 4/5 right after it....
min, di 6 = alt spelling of what babies poop in. change the last vowel in the word to third vowel instead of second
it's not nice to laugh at inferiors, jac, lol
Hello timhorton! How are you? Welcome to the puzzle
di 6/24 looks like the disposable thing babies wear, except for the last vowel (change it to the 3rd vowel)
di6/24 sounds like a baby's 'nappy'(UK) or bum stuff keeper inner. Diff. last vowel, though.
Thank you for the di 6/24 clue. I just found the word
jilli - but I didn't laugh. I sat on my hands and typed nothing. LOL
sa 5/14= not happy + not she
sa 4/5= not happy + personal pronoun
thx, jellen
Talk about headless chickens though, jilli! Oh, LOL.

Condition ORANGE! You are reminded that failure to feed (that is respond other than the alert call) is usually fatal to the troll perp. Professor Evert Enured at the University of Minnesota in his classic study, already out of print, has calculated the mortality rate is 73%, with an error of + - 3%. Further 3 or more protests result in a growth spurt that is almost impossible to extinguish.

Since my name had been pounced upon I withdrew, momentarily. LOL

Bye, jac.

Hi again, jilli
hope you have some nice stuffed animals in there to cuddle, jacula!
hi jill
jillibus, you missed the troll. quite horrendous little bastard
hi again Jilli
night, jac -- no nightmares!
was the troll another aussie like the last lot?
don't think we knew jill
anonymous little troll. kept scrolling with one- or two-letter non-messages
anyway, I had a lovely dinner and am not sorry I missed it. 22 to go so I think I'll disappear into the grid for a bit :)
"super hero guy" my big flabby ass.
LOL gwen!!!!
did dr. god take care of it?
dr.god was notified

he must have, they don't usually leave quietly
goos thing he was awake this time
harp, no sense in trying to cover it up LOL
good (I'm tired and a bit tiddly after all that wine with dinner
now -- must find my last 22!
Go forth and find, jilli!
just stumbled on this game ... how do you know who wins?
dinner out tonight Jilli?
2pp -- everybody wins
2pp, no winner. you just try to find all the words in the grid. and maybe have a nice chat too
and it's just for fun ?? no points or other stuff right?
it's all just for fun 2pp
Hi All. How's it going tonight?
2pp, there *are* points (see the tiles? they have points)
there are points and there are rankings, but most of us just play for the joy of discovering strange new words.
hi nef!
The object of the game is to find all the words.
this game is for people who love Boggle, which is a board game in the "real world"
no that's not the kind of points I mean. LOL... points like the ones you get when you play MyPoints Games
Hi, Nef
hi all
omg, I love tim hortons!!
was going to wait for flip but just too tired see you in the morning
Hi again, th
(Michigan)
:)
G'night, flosey
no, nothing like that 2pp
hi tim!
goodnight all
well you guys in michigan are new to timmys but we grew up with it
(not familiar with mypoints games) this is all just for fun. no prizes or anything
night flosey!
dinner chez moi -- SSI lamb chop au jus plus red wine deglaze, longrain and wild rice with roasted garlic, stringless mange-tout pe4, a nice Shiraz, chocolate bundt cake with fresh manadarin orange on the side, free-trade coffee -- hmm, might add a touch of brandy
are we done with the infestations for the evening you suppose
night flosey -- hoope you got to see that
we in michigan have tons of donut shops already. (not a big donut eater here but sure I like them)
YUM! jilli, are you inviting ALL of us to dinner tonight? :)
for now tim
why do I always typo hoope instead of hope?
she ate it already nef!
not really new up here... been around a good 10 or 15 years :) great donuts and great coffee ... and the chicken soup is excellent
well i don't eat donuts much but tim hortons makes the best coffee
i didn't think you had a "canadian" accent jilli. :-)
where in Michigan are you book doctor?
where in Michigan are you book doctor?
wow i just stared seing them recently when i visit michigan
I am near Metro airport
oh, DARN! jilli, you made me hungry! I had left overs (mahi mahii, creamed peas, and toast for supper a LONG time ago!
what made you think I did, fran? Did an "eh" slip in there?
i'm in the outlying Detroit burbs
lol the spoken question mark:)
so i get Canadian TV and I have seen actual tim horton ads as well as spoofs of tim horton shops
the "hoope" instead of hope typo jilli
close to here
tim: they aren't everywhere.... like 7-11, but they are in more than a few cities all the way to Jackson :)
no, jilli, it was the hoope! :D
Nef, that sounds WONDERFUL! INSPIRING!
here they are on every corner
what, jilli? my leftovers?
thank heavens cause i need my coffee
the only commercial I see a lot of is the one that says something about a million canadians can't be wrong (shows a wedding party inside)
my husband is american it only took me 2 coffees to have him addicted
creamed pe4!! Haven't had that in years. And hoope isn't Canadian -- aboot the hoose is though
on every corner . . . like bars in Milwaukee
no, no, no, the canadian accent is a-boat, not aboot. aboot is scottish!
No Tim Horton's on Saltspring -- no chains at all
ppl have tail gate parties friday nights at tim hortons
LOL
i think that sta
sorry i think that started with the smoking laws though
can't smoke anywhere public here now
thankfully that has not passed in Michigan yet... though if Granholm has her way.....
You're almost right, gwen. Aboat the hoase is close, but not quite -- a bit more U-ish. I wonder how my grandfather would have shown in in the International Phonetic Alphabet (see my dictionary icon)
i don't smoke but i still think the law is a bit excessive
back
Hi again, herin
I MUST get those last 22 words!!! Shutting off chat!
I am a garden gnome smoker i will not pollute other peoples fresh air.
hi all
Hi, joso
Had a phone call to deal with
um -- anyone have the de6/27? and the de5/16?
they are thinking of making it ellegal to smoke in rental appartments
de 6/27 = storm left-overs
I think they did that in California
jillibus, of course, there is no symbol for the exact canadian long O, but it is not "aboot" -- that annoys be a lot, when people spoof the canadian accent and then say "aboot" LOL
Good. That kinda think shits me. I hate it. Smoking inside is rude. (specially if you are renting)
de5/16 plural
ok, out of here for tonight, looks like a cool game... nice chatting to all, have a nice night
de 5/16= plural of the 4/7
Bye, 2pp
de6/27 = stuff scattered around after a tornado. Also the name of the world's worst director in The Producers.
night 2pp
tyvm jellen -- as usual -- why didn't I see that pl?
ty too gwen -- but I never saw the Producers
ok, off for a bit
jillibus, you are missing out on a great movie. (rent the one from the 1960s first)
it really doesn't have anyhting to do with smoking why it upsets me it is the government taking more control
sigh
The Producers is mel brooks' best movie. he should have been writing musicals all this time instead to trying to make comedy films
22 left and i dont think ill reach my 16 before i give up to list
I agree tim, I feel the same about seat belt laws
I know, Gwen, but I have so little time. My son gave me the Helen Mirren Elizabeth I for Xmas last year and I haven't had time to watch it yet much as I would like to. My only DVD player is my computer
joso, or laws requiring you to register your car
jillibus, of course time for babble comes before her sovereign majesty! LOL
Whats wrong with seat belt laws stops you killing someone in the front seat or you flying out the front window in an accident
I think car laws ok, shareing roads, seatbelt only affects the user/nonuser
or laws against spitting in public
the place where we draw the lines is becoming blurry
seat bets save ives and disfiguration. The most beautiful woman I have ever seen went through a windshield in the early 60s because of no seatbelt. And look what happened toDiana.
or banning skydiving, i mean it's so dangerous
No it doesnt joso
big brother is a reality
plus we need more laws about who is allowed to marry who
If you are in the front of a car and belted in and a passenger in the back isnt then they could kill you by flying foward in a car crash
I'm outta here into the grid again!
exactly and really one of the main killers in this counrty is sex are thye gonna bann that
we can't allow protestants and catholics to marry each other. where will it end?
woaw, how so book
or food?
or god forbid COFFEE!
aren't laws are to protect public safety?
hehe
ah, well that's a given BD ole buddy
if they can't outlaw sex then they should at least tax it some more
lol book
re7/36?
coffee is bad, law should limit people to 2 cups a day max
if thye could find a way they would
take the money from the sex tax and fund abstinence-only sex education
joso, exactly! LOL
re7, more magenta
re7= the superlative of a color
gee joso thye would have to lock me up cause i'd go to jail for coffee
re7 is a superlative. start with a color
ty jellen
a person that is not wearing a seatbelt is twice as likely to crash than ot
me too with my international delight
wearing a seatbelt is not just self protection. you are better able to react to a crisis and avoid a collision of you are properly belted. this will save any number of other people's lives
but the point is that person should have that choice
Joso
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dNaMAWt B_xM
i would wear one anyhow
you always have a choice whether to belt up. choice is get the ticket or not
delightful example of why you wear a seat beat.
not here you loose points
you loose your licence for that
if public funds are used to support you after you dodn't have a belt and receive debilitating injuries, then the public has a right to have tried to make you wear a belt
tim, think of it this way: do you enjoy paying for other people's stupidity? It bugs me to see the enormous medical costs after motor vehicle accidents and then the continued costs afterwards
i losse points if my passenger chooses not to belt up
but we are still paying through the nose laws or no
i wont drive until my passengers are belted
i understand that canada requires you to drive with headlights or running lights on at all times. isn't that for safety?
so? YOU are the driver; my car never moves until people are belted
I've heard that said about seatbelts before, oddly enough the true stats don't back it up. by the time you cann't control the car because you are thrown from the seat it's way too late for a quick turn left to save all
i don't drive unless ppl are belted
i drive with headlights on at all times, even though it is not required, because i care about safety on the road.
But Joso no seat belt off you go no control of car
some laws i agree are common sense
joso, it's not a question of being thrown from the seat; a shift of a few inches can make you lose your grip on the wheel
sorry dr G, herin, the stats don't back your theorys up.
then there was that car, or a van, maybe a Ford (?) where the seat support would fail, and the upright part would flop backward. no way you could drive in that condition, even if belted!
i am not debating whether seatbelts are necessary
my daughter and I witnessed an accident once . The driver (a young adult girl) was thrown from the car and ended up under it, the young man was belted and he was okay. The car flipped about 4 times (she'd caught the edge of the road and over-corrected, sendng the car tumbling across 3 lanes of traffic and into the shrubery on the other side of the road
seat belts are good, very good, for the user, but not for anyone else
my fave has to be the exploding Pinto. back it up into something and it would explode. government regulation was maybe a bit too lax there
even if it werent the law everyone i drove with is always belted in
Yes they do Joso this is from someone that is an ex cop that told me
i have yet to hear a really good reason to not wear a seatbelt. care to offer any?
i think everyone should weaqr one
even a dog
Statistics for the years 2000-2004 show that seatbelt usage is a significant issue: on weekends (39 per cent of vehicle occupants killed or seriously injured were not wearing a seatbelt occurred on weekends) in rural areas (2/3 of serious casualties from lack of seatbelt/restraint occur in rural areas) for males (males made up 83 per cent of motor vehicle occupants killed or injured) for parents and carers (41 per cent of child passenger fatalities (age 0 -15) between 2000 and 2004 were not wearing a restraint at the time of the crash
http://www.transport.sa.gov.au/rss/con tent/safer_people/issues/restraint_use .htm
hey, we could argue about locking your doors when you drive, or leaving them unlocked so you aren't trapping in the car in case of a really bad wreck. opinions?
I guess we'll have to agree to disagree, when I first heard that argument I did some reasearch on it and found it to be an urban myth
i think my point got lost
or electric versus crank windows???
Joso im sorry to tell you but its not true there is reasons to were a seatbelt. Just youtube road safety ads
or how far from the driver should they put the cigaret lighter??????? LOL
how many of you talk on the cell phone while driving
or if they should have cigarette lighters cause you shouldn't smoke in the car:)
I just tried the site you listed herin, not there anymore
Not in AUs its illigal
It is i just saw it 30 sec ago
Google Seatbelts and child restraints - Road Safety - Transport SA
herin, I didn't say seatbelts not efective, just think they are personaly effevtive only
herewith a give a link to a little glossary of terms for bad drivers -- some of which I made up -- and other interesting terms relating to driving:
http://tomfolio.pbwiki.com/Drivers
another thing i wonder why don't thye put seatbelts in school buses?
Thats the whole point isnt it personally effective? I read somewhere a child up to the age of 5 should be in a child seat and 5 point restraint harrness
here is a site for you: http://www.wtpdmorris.org/Traffic/prog rams/Click/sbelt.html
when i was in HS, one of my peers lost both parents because the father was not wearing a seatbelt. a drunk driver hit the psgr side of car, sending the un belted father's body to crush the mother, who would have been mildy injured had he been wearing his seatbelt.
hello, all
hi dcseain
hi dc
i have heard school officials say this: it is too expensive; they keep having to replace them due to vandalism; the seats are so large you will just crash into the seat in front of you which is padded so you will be okay. IMO these are all BS excuses
found it herin, odd, can't cut and paste beyond end of line in this chat
Hi DC sometimes babble does that
Dc that is very sad
joso, that's because this chat uses hard returns at line breaks
lady, INS brought an aunt and uncle of hers fro Vietnam to care for her, though yes, very sad.
copy the URL, paste it into a word processor, take out the extra returns or spaces, then paste it into a browser
Immigration and Naturalization Service, INS
INS is no longer; part of "Homeland Security" now
In Aus you are not meant to talk on the cell or sms but idiots do. There has been a big campaign reciently about distractions and driving. I.e Sms kids music that kinda thing
ICE now Immigration and Customs Enforcement
"i-wack" = idiot with a cell phone. some of the worst drivers are i-wacks
just as i now work for Customs and Border Protection instead of the US Customs Service.
we may use hands-free devices w/mobile phones in cars while driving here.
show me something, backed up by serious nutral study, that shows seatbelts save other peoples lives, untill then it's the same as gov proscribing parashuting, mountain climbing, or any other dangerous activity to me
in new jersey it is a ticket big time
for talking on cell
Joso i just did
Hi, dc, was off reading.
howdy, jellen
have a look at what dc said. A person is a ping pong ball unrestrained in a car so is a dog for that matter
you showed me a page outlining a seatbelt campain
I like the term blinkbat, Gwen
dies
joso, your argument is based on a false premise. seat belt laws are not put in place to save other people but to save your life. (although some folks argue it that way, as were we doing earlier)
jellen, aw, ty
wowi video, fran!
Congrats are in order, jilli?
Dc just told you
yes, jellen *downcast eyes*
cograts jellen
Yippeeeee!!!
For jilli, that is.
oh, btw, i'm home tonight and on YIM
Joso i will when i finish
Message me DC
under ur lj handle is it?
um her_infernal_ladyship@yahoo.com
good, i truely wood like to see it if you find it. here I noticed a stronger and stronger interest by the government in anti smoking and proseatbelts corolated strongly with the level of health care tab the gove was picking up.
Why dont you google seatbelt vs non seat belt studdies
but joso i don't know how it is there but we have no drs here
where is the flip? i have 1 am here.
good evening, all :)
even though a smoker I support most smoking laws because 2nd hand smoke is a proven thing
they all went statesside about 15 yrs ago when the government passed a law against extra billing
where do you live that there are no doctors, tim? my husband is a doctor.............i cant believe you live somewhere without any doctors.
good eve all
done
congrats, right under the wire
our heathcare went from the best in the world to crap almost overnight
161 for the next grid; it would be both an inverse and redundant (not to mention a reverse and repetitive)
shortage of docs is cause gov has squeesed them for years
