I'd like DST all year round -- I'm not an early riser and it's dark in the mornings anyway
even on standard time here, most kids get picked up in the dark, then brought home in the light. sun's just barely up whon the littlest kids are picked up in the winter.
I don't think I'll win anything... but it's a neat way to see if I can k4 to a schedule and be a little more regimented. I am rather free-form in most artistic endeavors

I prefer to get up when it's dark and have the light in the afternoon when I come home.

the only thing I found that helped was to keep busy doing things, reading things that interested me, helping others, anything that didn't give me time to "think"

I don't know the circumstances hursh, but it's best to get back behind the wheel quickly...some things are unavoidable...

I'm not sure what kind of bones they are. It will take quite a bit of chewing to devour them.
They are hollow, so I can just put a dab of PB in each end and they are happy for a while.

I guess they are those rawhide bones -- very hard.
They originally came with a PB filling. One bone was completely hollow later, the other still had some stuff in the middle. Later I found little bitty ants crawling all around the second bone. Ugh.
I read that ants are more of a problem right now, due to the severe drought we have been having.

It's not too bad from here, it is a 6 hour flight and there is no time difference which means no jet lag. We loved it last year so decided to go again.
Mari only lives 10 mins away and is coming in twice a day to feed them. She is also having instructions on how to use the Sky + box so she can spend time with them as well. Still a bit traumatised about leaving them but at least I know mum will look after them.
I know what it is like ... having to leave them.

Ruth, the owner, went to Gatlingburg we were going to keep her until this past Tuesday. Ruth fell in Gatlingburg and her son had to go get her and she is now staying with her grand daughter

now, Ruth wants to know how cats adapt to new surroundings.
they adapt pretty well... cats... as long as have food and water and litter and a bit of love...usually adapt...
Abby has done fine here, she will be staying with the grand daughter until the end of the month and then she, her son and his wife will be moving into another house. She is not able to come back to her home.
Ruth is worried that it would be 4 places in one months time

I used to take care of an old male... whose "mom" went to australia for months at a time ... a warm blanket that "smells of them" their food... some attention and a clean litter box...good to go...
I know she misses her terribly but is worried about causing Abby too much stress
Cats do adapt to new surroundings if it suits them to. If it's a neighbour's cat then the outside surroundings are not that different. However, like children, cats may rail a little against new internal surroundings and different house rules. Cat's youngish and will most likely be fine.

My old cat, Kira's, smelly old play mouse is atop her carved box that her ashes are in. Comforts both me and her. If I don't stroke either for a few days, I'll know Kira's around to remind me.

When Ruth is back on the mend, I want to go and see her. She is a couple of hours away now versus 10 minutes

Not scattering her ashes as she had a rough life and loved her home in her later years. She wasn't an 'outside' sort of girl. She's happy on the bookshelf in the sitting room right next to our favourite armchair for reading in and cuddling in.

TO - it costs a lot here too, but I was shell-shocked by the sudden death. Same thing happened with my old dog - I was so traumatised after holding him when the final injection was administered and hearing him cry and watching him fight (though I knew he had no change of life because he was so old all his organs had packed up) that I walked out of vet's and left him there. I've never got over that and so made sure to bring my Kira home.
now i feel bad. but i have to beleive it was the right thing. the memories are intact, no need to have something to trigger them

Our other cat is a totally different kettle of fish (which he would catch, ''cos he's a hunter). He's an outside kind of guy and would probably poltergeist me if I kept him in a box on a shelf in the house. He will definitely want to be scattered.
