she told us that she went into labor with the baby the last time they had come in for a haircut

About 4-5 months ago Lickety told me v.12 was nearly ready...that's the closest I have come! :)
only a handful have v12, it was a test... you are not missing out on anything

we've got hardwood floor pretty much everywhere now, and that does make a difference

it also makes for great amusement when the cat skids from one end of the room to the other on the wood floors

ick, yes, spaniels are prone to hip problems. again, I think its generally more pronounced in the American breeds (I'm well over-simplifying millions of dogs here, but hey). Hobbit's actually got slight hip problems, but very slight, and she can't lay with both of her back legs out behind her! She can get one there, but not both. Poor babe
Sounds kinda painful. I would not like to be born like that. I think that ends my cross-examination for the day, I just always wondered and her owner is a bit nutso about her. Not that it's a bad thing, but she doesn't even attempt to teach her to be a "good" dog.

hobbit is from working stock, however, and that wasn't ever so tampered with (she looks more like a baby springer than a foofy show cocker)
It bothers me to think of breeding methods and the things that have been done in the name of "beauty." I prefer a healthy animal.

Haz - does she have a mad session where she races around the house for no apparent reason? My dog and both my cats used to do that.
I am well trained. I require treats now that I have performed.
Her mad session tends to be after she has had her food in the evening. Bones get attacked with great ferocity, she races up and down the hall. Then she settles down again.
ata, I know--and I agree re cocker breeders . . . my sweet Lady (now deceased) had every physical problem known to dogdom . . . I adopted her at age 4 and she'd already been bred 3 times . . .

The walk of stealth takes place when she wants to go upstairs. She's not technically allowed. However, if she averts her gaze, and goes quietly, she thinks we can't see her.

She'll then droop over the top step and keep watch from there for any attempts to get her down.

LOL, Haz. We used to have a child gate on the stairs to stop our dog going up there. Doesn't work for cats, unfortunately, so now we have to keep the upstairs doors closed. (Which I hate doing.)

Hectic hurtling. I like that description. That's what our dog used to do from halfway up the stairs when the post arrived. (The gate was at the top of the stairs.)
Not so far. It just seems to be a fair attempt to do a Buzz Lightyear in canine terms. She runs out of room at the bottom and almost crashes into the door.
We had to put a cage over the letterbox to stop him yanking the post out of it. He'd land on the cage and then slide off in a heap. He got out of the habit as he got older.
