Dear old cat seems much sprightlier since she had her big grooming session to remove mats because she wasn't grooming herself any more. I was worried about her having anaesthetic at her advanced age (nearly 19) but they gave her the minimum and got a huge bag of hair out of her. Now she looks like half a cat (still has some long hair but the undercoat is thinned right out) but she's not limping and seems much more active! Dear old thing.

I'm waiting for two phone calls. One from my family practioner about my Lyme disease test results, and one from the dermatologist: he gave me ana ntibiotic for a chronic (and chronically untreated) skin thing last Monday and I had a nasty reaction over the weekend and the emergency folks said to stop taking it.
well, the good thing is, this company doctor is going to retire this very summer. He might be inclined to care very li6 about the demands of the firm and more about the needs of the really sick people.

Yup. But a positive Lyme would explain why I have been catching so many colds and flus I haven't really been well for months, and at least the reaction to the drug was joint pain and a weird numb feeling all over my right arm and hand instead of, well, shock, psychosis, you name it.

But his pay comes from the company and not from me... so we all know where his ultimate loyalty lies. Well, with all your support, I must be able to state my case in a good-enough way!

3 of them are no longer with the firm, Dee. Only one is left and has been behaving neutrally ever since. not really, Dee, though very different. I thought I was invulnerable 2 years ago, in a way. I know better now, I know my weaknesses and my damaged strengths. Which ultimately will make me stronger... but it took me all this time to lay a new foundation. I am just starting to rebuild.

was hoping it might help you... in the U.S. licensed therapists with good reputations are used and usually listened to respectfully. I think my prayer for you will be ... that you may express yourself clearly, that the rep will listen with open ears, and that he will make decisions that are in your best interests
what makes this really tough for me, is being dependant on someone who doesn't know what my life is like since I fell ill. And my unability to trust people enough to really show myself to them. I am scared stiff already just for having to go there this afternoon.

Coping skills are beneficial, but not a cure. You yet regularly have panic attacks. The physical problems compound the mental; and vice versa. to have to go back now would likely reverse a year and a half of extremely intensive therapy

Back for a few. Walter is happy with Dora for the moment and I have to hear from my doctor still. The dermatologist had never heard of this reaction from this drug, but said yes, stay off it, use the cream he gave me, and we'll see how things are in 3 weeks when I have my next appointment. Anyone have experiebnce with weird joint reactions to antibiotics? How long can I expect my arm to feel weird?

I changed the linens, and when I folded the sheets, I stacked the contour sheet, the flat sheet and one pillow case, then put them into the other pillow case and folded the end of that pillow case over. Now, that set of linens is in one compact package. No need to search for them, and they won't fall off the shelf in the linen closet.

You can get a post-infectious arthritis, unrelated to the antibiotic itself, but related to the infection.

Yes, I have read a lot about it but this reaction seems a bit on the rare side. Beats the psychotic episodes side effect hands down, though.

I am on amoxicillin for a tooth infection and hadtrouble sleeping because ofpain up my jaw intomy ear.
It's the toxic allergic reaction that does it, not the drug. I have never been allergic to anything except poison oak before. Really startled me.

Many docs use braod-spectrum antibiotics,especially the newer ones, instead of using the tried and truenarrow-spectrum antibiotics.
I was on the biaxin because it really targets the skin. I wonder what he'll try next?

Good old cephalexin will work too.
This is a follicular infection that has never been well investigated before. Thanks to the Dutch health system, I now have a lot of blood work at the lab and we can really check this out; he tried the antibiotic in the meantime, but allergic is allergic. I have a cream to use until my next appointment on the 21st.
not really here, just barging into the discussion! when antibios didn't work for my skin being constantly infected (possibly folliculitis), I had to put zinc bandages all over my arms for a month. It worked better than the antiobios
Sometimes an exfoliant, such as hydroxy acids, helps chronic folliculitis.
I'll ask about that on the 21st. That'd be on my arms, legs, butt, belly, and back, though....
oh yes. its a pain in the backside and half impossible to live with.

I had an out-of-body experience once--floating in the room, yet I couldn't movemy arms and legs.
I had a sleep paralysis one, and thought, "Oh, great, now I'm supposed to have an abduction experioence." Immediately the door started opening, and there was something moving on the other side. I could see my husband awake and reading with the bedside lamp but I couldn't alert him. I used sheer force of will to wake myself up... and the room was dark, my husband was asleep.

My usual cue to notice I'm dreaming is trying to read something. At least it used to be. I would see teh worde but have so much trouble with them... then I'd wonder if I was having a stroke... then I would remember I was probably dreaming. Nowadays, though, it seems i can just read.
The brain and "mind" are so fascinating!
My dreams runn the gammut, and in general dreams ar overanalyzed, because people place too much weight on them.

Non-dream part - my friend was threatening suicide so we went looking for him wherever we could think to. At about 12:30 we went to get a little rest and try again in a couple of hours. When I fell asleep, I "woke up" to find him standing over me on the living room couch and he said he was going home and that everything would be ok.
