thanks ndan... and just ...
yes sandy...just hate his rating system though..
I couldn't find those last four...
he is getting it sorted we have to give him time
it's a toughie you did good!
good job ruru
he's keeping the rating system so no time needed for that
Well we all have the same system i guess, i got to 1260 now im under 1000 LOL
Lucky im not rating driven although i got that way on tangle
it's skewed in favour of the big players unfortunately
I had just got to orange when they canned it
I did too there and I'm not liking how it makes me feel
I have a "zero" tolerance for stress and refuse to be stressed
ooh ...just!! This site makes up for that - I always feel happy here
Have to force Nikki to help me withthe dishes!!!!!! bbl
yes! that's for sure but not until after 12:30 or so!
that was a quick NBT, but i can tell there are a lot of nasty ones hiding in there somewhere
it stresses me out to see people having the need to be first to clue...well certain people lol
I have one BT -- the E in the upper left corner -- any help? *dodging fish*
fireworks
that was fast for NBT's on this grid josh!
jilli - it's the el6/7 combo
jilli - el6 and 7
it's the clue ruru needed just before jilli
wow, hugs!
i usually get NBT pretty quickly for whatever reason - but my problem is having the patience to try to stick it out without finishing off with the list
wtg huga
lol that will be a very rare occasion for me josh..
ah, got that french so word
great jilli so now the el is similarly spelled
and NBT -- finally got those E words -- thanks for the help
yw
classes in the a.m. goodnight everyone
josh, I don't believe in self-flagellation so I use the list whenever I damn well want to, lol!
night hugs, have a happy
got at least half from each tile
the e in the 4th column was giving me fits
I have only 2 from that E so far
me too
i only have 4 letter plurals from it so far
well, over half way so I'll head for bed -- night all
night jilli..almost gone too
noogie is so a word
I know josh
ok i am back from the taxi run
who would have thought that a hotel in samoa would be in the grid lol
evening all :)
kia ora mrp happy babbling
hi kiwi! nice to see you... everything going ok with you?
not really
im in danger of loosing the house if the ex doesnt sign the papers by the end of this month because of the arrears on the mortgage that he got us into that i cant get us out of
oh darling... I am so so sorry!
ooooooooof
certainly you can get a court injunction to stop this happening? I pray for you darling
the finance company have no sypmathy compassion or willing to offer any lienency
far out! is amazing how cold and nasty they are in this economic climate
i hate to say it but the finance co is aussie owned too
well, I do hope he comes to signing it, or threaten to sue the sh!t out of him!
what's keeping him from si4ing the papers? is it something more than stubbornness or childishness?
josh he is happy to give over title and financial control of the house to me no problems he just wants ultimate control over when i can or cant sell the house and i wont agree to it
kiwi, i'm sorry to hear that, what a bummer
know a hit man mrp? ive got a life insurance policy still active on him lolol
what a %#$&ing asshole
sounds like you need a lawyer- but they cost a fortune
so basically my lawyer has advised his lawyer that unless the separation agreement is amended with that clause removed and the arrears paid by 5pm tomorrow we will go to court
i am pretty good with nail clippers! I could make it very very long and painful for him
what a win for the law proffession
oh i wish mrp
doesn't he realise they will be the only winners
the worst of it is that its like he doesnt care if the kids have a house to live in or not
wait, if he's ok with giving over title and financial control to you, what does he care about when you sell it?
josh, it is about 'control'
can't believe some of these stories!!! How can someone act like that!!
hes trying to stop me selling it before both of the kids have grown up and moved out
do you want to sell it now?
Yes Pres, "control"
and im saying well hey what if we decide we just want a new house - like any family, or what if i decide to get a job in another city or what if i find a new man and we move in with him
no i dont want to sell it right now but why should someone who doesnt have any financial control over a house or a name on the title tell me how i can run mine or my kids lives
brb... will chat again about this and catch up on the chatlog kiwi... just have to get dinner
how can he even legally exert that sort of control? title is the last call, isn't it?
i havent eaten yet whats for dinner mrp
he wants a caveat put on the title
uhhhh, something isn't adding up
divorces are weird
we could have had this settled months ago, the old mortgage paid off, my new less expensive mortgage running no big lawyers bills and no stress or anger but NOPE he had to carry on being an ass
remind me never to get married
hind sight isnt a good thing lol
he wants a settlement then?
hi everyone
everything is settled but this
hey andree hugs happy babbling
and because hes being an ass im getting in the doo doo
kiwi tell him if you go to court tell him you will be asking for costs, that might get him to change his mind as it is likely he may have to pay
my cousin cassie is in the grid, should i tell her she is special :p
ag5 greys hotel in apia, samoa is in the grid too lol
well im just hoping like hell i get a positive call from the lawyer tomorrow
as he has caused the need to take it to court any decent judge will make him pay
ive pretty much got a month before the finance co get approval for a mortgagee sale so im hoping that it will be sorted way before then
and thats firewords for me
yay kiwi
ok time to go snuggle on the couch and get comfy for mcleods daughters. Wont see ya all tomorrow night since we are off to the beach - long weekend here - so will see ya saturday night
hugs and happy babbling all
any clue on offer for the 8
please
andree it comes from ca 5/12
the female version
thx sandy
hi again all :)
hi mrp, any news on the house
andree! nice to see you darlingheart
Hi Mr P how you doing?
hi katie! am doing ok thanks.... tolerating myself and getting better :D
that's great, did you have a good holiday?
we got the house andree! we are moving in 2 1/2 weeks... am getting excited about it now that it is sinking in
I am so glad, you will now have the unpleasant task of moving
katie, it was lovely to be in the sunshine! Queensland is a lovely this time of year
at least the move will be positive (bigger place), but I do hate packing up and moving!
It will be nice to be able to get settled though Mr P. Is it me or do you seem to move quite a lot?
sunshine would be nice , this weather is crazy, we have the heaters on
katie, oh no! we have lived in the same place for 8 years! we moved in January, but it was not the right place for us.... so we are moving into a much bigger house and hope to stay there for quite some time
Ahhh it was the January move I remembered, it is so stressful to keep moving, lets hope the next one is a 'keeper'
i will organise myself and come one afternoon and gove a hand with some of the packing
I don't think it was above 12 degrees today... nasty nasty weather.
yes katie, I am concerned that they will keep to their word and let us stay for at least 2 years
do you rent then Mr P?
oh andree! you are too much of a sweetie! we don't have much to pack, as most of it is still packed away in the garage!
yes katie, we sold earlier this year and decided to rent until the housing market improved and interest rates dropped. here, we pay 8% interest... it is awful... it needs to drop to 5% before we would consider buying again
with your arm mrp you should grab any help you can, moving really is the pits
I know andree... and I would love/appreciate any help
i think it may drop to quite a low rate in the next year or so
andree... do you remember the days when interest rates were 18.5%...??? that was the death of many
okay i will call you closer to the move, do you need boxes
That's a good move Mr P, our interest rates are lower but it really depends on if you can get a mortgate and what rate. A lot of people are in trouble because they dropped of a really low fixed rate and their payments are going up by £400 per month etc
that is alot katie!
nah, boxes can come from the movers... they give them on loan. thanks so much though andree!
gotta go get dinner moving along to actually being on the table and eaten! bbs :D
you must have nice movers , we had to buy ours, or rather my son did so we have had our moneys worth, they have done a move for each of the family so far
I bought plastic boxes for a lot of mine which was going into storage between houses. Now we have loads of them in the garage but they are so useful.
katie , i did that too and they get passed out to family and friends too, the other useful carriers for clothes etc are those big chinese bags$2 at the dollar shop
not that they have anything for $1
We are very in to 'bags for life' one shop does them for £1 and they are great, would use a lot more of them now, but hopefully we are in this house for a long long time, couldn't take another year like last year :-)
my daughter and i have a 1 year lease on this house , i would like to stay as long as poss but who knows when you rent you are at the whim of owners who may sell etc
I know what you mean Andree, I managed to keep the same rented house for 5 years but know how lucky I was.
I'd better go now, see you later
yes i was in the last for nearly 4 years and if it wasn't for the fact that my daughter and i decided to get a place together i would still be there
bye katie
bbs
morning all
G'd morning Babblers!
hi Lori
Hmmm, quiet in here this morn....
yup, just you and me for the moment
you, me andd 5 Ks, that is.
They're prob'ally all stoopid. Just make up words.
I agree
hi lori and sprite :) nice and quiet it seems
This grid is too vowel-y. Ack
hi mrP!
G'd morning mrP
pardon me whilst I burp! my dinner is just settling in LOL!
in dutch, the word for burp is the same as the word for farmer. When someone burps, we say: geef die boer een stoel - give that farmer a chair.
boer! haha! almost the same word as pig
yay, Ks konkerred.
"konkered" lolol
dutch for pig is varken :)
am sorry, Lori, Konkered it is.
konkerred would be agreed, right?
Works for me
such an irkitating letter, that K
I'm disignoritating the k. :D
now that is the spirit, should have thought of that before I started the grid
hey, same word as yesterday or the day before. The not selfish one (two actually today)
na 7/32 clue please
Sorry gran, I haven't touched the n yet. Oh and g'd morning!
there is no -ses in this grid there is no -ses in this grid.
hi gran
hi all
hi Ata, how are you feeling today?
G'd morning Ata hari, feeling better?
Gran, I am stuck on the na7 too
a good bit better, thankfully! just taken the pup for a nice walk, and now I'm putting off starting to ink a picture using my scary 0.18mm pen
na7 - like plural Mrs Reagans
very good going, Ata. Putting off is an essencial part of getting better.
thanks
brilliant, thanks Ata
I hate my 0.18mm pen. it's sooooooo fine. and shows up ALL the wobbles!
G'd morning emtian
Well the don't wobble! :p
hi amtian
yeah :P it's rather hard though when one of my meds makes my hands wobble :P
that was emtian, sory
*** ducks ***
so actually you are not putting off work, Ata, you are rescheduling until a fitter time. In both ways.
wimping out, really!
hehehe, part of my therapy is learning to re-label things in a better way. Wimping is not a better way. Rescheduling is.
and a complete cop out LOL. I'm going to wait for half an hour, tea and breakfast will stop hands wobbling, then I'll get going with it!!
hey all
G'd morning bf
sounds like a plan. And it will be beautiful as ever, Ata.
hiya bfsog
whats happening?
we shall see :)
nothing much I hope
Shivering. 2 freakin' degrees when I got up at 4 am. Now 6 am, and no warmer.....
Hiya. Guess I'm rescheduling too, then :)
hubby is taking daughter to her friend, she is gonna sleep over there. Then he is going to ca5 club. I am home alone :)
G'd morning hydra
hiya hydra! Good going :)
poor Lori! That calls for extra warm socks, blankets and sweaters.
*hands over hot tea*
yay I broke the chat log!
lol
ok, how is folic not accepted?
it is an enablistupidity
ditto kois. silly dictionary
kois is logical. Japanese doesn't know plurals as english does. So koi is both singular and plural.
it's accepted in scramble and they use the official scrabble dictionary :P
then scrabble is off :)
I agree. It's infuriating. I found a great 8 letter word once, perfectly acceptable English, and Enable threw it out.
I think the idea is that its a Japanesse word, but officially a word in English now, therefore would obey english rules for plurals
yes, I think so too, Ata. Just wanted to show off.
Morning all. *yawns*
morning Jac! Tea?
you'll giggle at this, hydra. Every time I see you online I momentarily go O.O! Hydra met Marc Bolan. Someone that met Marc Bolan is online with me! Then I cringe and ignore my fangirling. LOL
:D
hi Jac!
Hi Jac! Couldn't take up your Scramble challenge as it wouldn't let me on the site.
Yes please, Sprite. *gulp, slurp*
Oh Ata! I didn't realise you were such a fan. When I left Diamond Publishing, the boss made me hand over all my tapes of rock star interviews, including that one. I was gutted!
*puts teapot in reach of Jac*
Hydra - that happens to me sometimes. It'll probably work later.
*grins* I'm not really. He just reminds me more than any other "famous person" of when I was really young and those happy days!
Ata - I loved Marc, too.
and I *do* love his music
Ata, Marc was wonderful. Gentle, fey, poetic, a beautiful spirit. His wife kept stepping in and talking for him, though. I could have slapped her!
is it just me or is there always some words that make it through to todays grid from yesterdays?
very often, bfsog
It's not just you, bf.
My mum had 1 LP when I was very tiny. Is was T-Rex, so I actually think * thinks a bit* Marc Bolan is actually the first male face I ever remember seeing (cos mum was divorced when I was 1)
June (wifey) used to stand in the wings looking fierce at concerts.:-(
I think you are just very very lucky to have met him
Then you're imprinted with him! Yes, I was very lucky.
I think June was over=protective, but who could blame her?
yes exactly :) he's been kind of a constant in my life from then on
I guess you're right, Hydra.
can't be easy to have a famous husband.
or famous wife! ask Guy Ritchie LOL
LOL, Ata.
Depends whether you're content to live in his shadow. I wouldn't be! You either overcmpensate, like Victoria Beckham, trying to rival his fame, or you become his keeper, like June.
or have a complete separate career where you are truly content
Sharon and Ozzy seem to manage.
How many spouses of the famous have managed that, though? Too often there's a clash of needs and egos.
hydra to the sin bin ;)
Yes, you're right, Jac. Probably cos they don't compete in the same sphere.
What have I done?
Tony and Cherie Blair. If he is catgorised as famous
I think that's the key - don't compete. Each be happy and overlap where possible
Have I said a word? Oops! Sorry
eg4, hydra.
you sinned, of course. eg4. And many related words, if you go for that kind of thing :D
Oh dear! Into the PB with me.
Drat! Now she'll empty the chocolat fountain in there. :-)
choc fountains are never ending
Tee-hee! *gulp, slurp*
and mutual trust and respect, I think, Ata. Both need to feel recognised for who they are.
Who left the bottle of champagne in there?
that was me, I stocked up pretty thoroughly last night, hydra. I had to send the entire chat to the PB before bed.
champagne?! ooo *quickly types in grid words*
LOL :-))) *hic*
too late, Ata :) Hydra finished it.
darn!
Shomeone menshun my name? Oops! Fell over.
aw well, ok. *puts in new bottle for Ata*
*puts cushion under Hydra's head and a bucket by her side.*
wooooot!
it was very good champagne. She will be fine, Jac.
i'm sure I've said a grid word at some point today!
Thanks, Jac. ZZzzzzzzzzz *trump*
clue for the eg7 please?
you got a free pass, Ata, you need to heal up proper and this will help.
awwww can you all hear Sily power-purring? I'm sure you should be able to
Not so sure she will, sprite - with all that choc in her, too. She'll be liking a living Aero bar.
lolol Jac!
Mornin'
*like a, I meant.
so that is what that sound was, Ata. Purrrrfect resonance.
Morning Matty.
Hi matty
hi matty
I thought you were talking about my 'trump', sprite
its ridiculous! she never purrs like this!!
lol hydra
clue for the eg7 please
unselfish, mrP
i keep wanting to enter to4,8 past tense of to obtain
Not got it yet, mr p. How are you today?
That was the first word I tried, bf
token
sorry
nice entry, carp
and hi, lol
Blimey, look at the time! Must do some work. Going to a one-year-old's party this afternoon. No doubt I shall be sick along with the rest of them - too much jelly and cake.
lol hydra, have fun :)
did you find it, mrP?
Have a good time, Hydra. Don't forget to wear your fez! *grins*
and ice cream!
And leave off the other garment? Teehee
Yes, Hydra. LOL
no sprite
Oh yes, ice cream. And partner has made a big chocolate cake. Toddler is called Ethan but he is insisting on putting Methane on the cake!
Hi Mr.P.
it is compoundish. Part of self + not more.
and the ca8 is getting my goat too
He wa a very smelly baby.
ah, that help alot, thanks sprite
ca8 has a female ending. A lady that sings ca6, I think.
I do not believe eg7 is a word... it should have a hyphen in it
yw mrP
or a female ca5/12
lol hydra!
"a member of a Christian community of women living under a rule but not under a vow"
thanks Ata, now it makes sense.
that is right ata... thanks! what a word
she can still sing ca6, right?
guess so!
ok, last couple... ag5/18 please
ag5/18= M***** Thatcher
sounds like short for one of the Abba girls.
and the 6 is the plural
hmmmm ...
BRB - need more tea.
my phantom is Casseline :)
mine is pelican/s. Hello all
lol Ata :)
you haven't read those books, have you, Sprite? Jacqueline Carey's Kushiel series
hi lyn, good one.

Scottish for 'gives', Merk.
nice pic, Jac!
Thanks, Ata.
I was looking for one of my own unicorn drawings but my computer search can't find it. Lord knows what key words I used.:-(
Good morning everyone. Just popping in for a short while.
is there a theme today?
Good morning elder.
I have a photo *somewhere* of Hobbit with the fluff on the top of her head spiked up into a unicorn horn
Unicorns, Matty.
hi elder!
uniiiicorns!
Ooooh
hi Elder
Ata - LOL. I'd like to see that.
hi elder and everyone
Hi Sandy.
please help me with a clue forthe lo5/14
I'll try and find it - or - she's got quite long fluff now, I can probably recreate it
ok, changed
is that hobbit in the photo At?
Had a hard time choosing
Sandy - plural of chunk of sawn wood with vowel at end.
Actually, a small enclosure.
But in the end, opted for the same artist as did my dragon
yes, sandy
lo5.14 lo4.6 is a brand symbol & vowel
actually i have that one its the one further down
I'll recreate it when she wakes up She's sooooo fast asleep now
and that one lynxx
Okay Ata. Thanks.
she doesn't look that furry
that is funny that pic
she's not that furry, but she gets this little tufty bit on the top of her head :)
lol At, you could always use some of those suggestions for herin's hat last nite to glue a horn on
hobbit's brother was really funny. he was longer-haired, and you could spray hair spray onto his head and make all sorts of funny hair styles
Lol At. We used to do things like that to the ponies in the fancy dress things at pony club
i have 22 left
I shall need the list shortly
woo i greyed a square! it was the o on the right but still
22 left here, too.
Ooh, I've not greyed that yet
finally got the lo
Jake with a dorky hairstyle: http://tinyurl.com/5g323g
LOL. Love the centre parting, Ata.
he was so delighted with it, as you can see
just getting it up
I only have dial up would you believe, we cant get broadband here
Oh heck, Sandy. Poor you!
oh ick!!
verrry resentful
as long as i have wine i dont care
a good icon day would be our own pets in fancy dress
very sensible attitude!
oh yes!!
morning, all. I got to hold Jordan last night, and we brought Ryan home with us for a few days.
angel , how cute
morning Angel
Hi Angel.
angel, ryan looks really cute and is that your daughter with the baby?
the photo in my current icon is jordan. The previous one was of my daughter, Ryan as a newborn, and Dylan. It was taken the day Ryan was born.
aah thanks for that
G'd morning again Babblers! back for my last 24, in theory.
hi lori 16 here
Go sandy!

YAY JAC!
im missing three ns - how about that!!
gj jac
na7 - poofs or more than one Mrs. Reagan.
Congratulations jacula!
nodoubt i will have them in a few hours of struggling

Then there are grandmothers, inert gas lights, a loch monster, negative replies.
heh, found my last c, a sneaky 8 letter word.
no6 = reasoning, cognition.

oh COOL!
phantom: foliose
phantom: done the grid
looool
I have a serious lack of 7's, 6's, 5's and 4's
good morning everyone
funny that. me too.
hello Eva
hi eva
G'd morning eva!
there's a wonderful Munchkin card, Lori, called Red Shirt Minion. You can sacrifice them at any point to save yourself from being eaten by a monster
I place Red Shirt Minion on the field in defense mode!
yep! and you can have loads of them. and sacrifice the lot. its great
heh, greyed that annoying corner e. kept trying to "gird" it, but didn't add the other important letter.
please help me...fa6/39
Don't have that (missing 2 f's) but now i can look!
where's haz? I want to know how her poor, abused dog is
and how are your poor, abused kittens, Lori?
me too lori
fa6/39-wood or derogatory term
Oh, slang for a gay male, derogatory
fa6 a lumpp of wood for burning - or an offensive name for na7.32
fa 6 -- a stick or a rude term for a gay person
Its having a unicorn horn implanted as we speak At
Staring in the window, wishing I'd feed them Ata. i'm standing firm though
now how about that c8?
Thanks kat, dont know how i missed it
poor abused kittens! Is Uni still with you? with her own poor abused kitten?
ca 8 is a she, who follows churchy type law
Eva, it is the female version of ca5/12
morning ladies;)
hi Crossy
No, Uni's taken it home to her place, to teach it the importance of waiting prolonged periods of time.
Merp has done 2 rounds of sitting on my chest, staring me in the eyes and bumping my glasses but I'm sticking to my line of "it's too early for breakfast".
G'd morning cross
hmmmm
Haz is prob'ally in her kitchen cleaning something while the beast is ***gasp*** outside.
did she drive home? how far away is she? or did the kitten get a plane ride?
hi crossy!
Nahh, they're only a couple hours drive away.
have to go bye for now bbl with 5 left
oh that's good
Later sandy
bye Sandy
thanks! Got the 8
I hope you taught her to be firm and steadfast
She told me she feeds it. I was appalled.
does she have a shed of her own to keep the kitten in?
no! outrageous!
what the heck is going on?
Uniquity is being soft and a bad kitten mom!
she beating kittens again?
kegs
pb, stupid bfsog
uni has no shed, so I fear the kitten will not learn the ways of the world properly.
I got the k thanks, but some s words would be nice bf. ;D
that's outrageous. though I suppose christmas is coming up, you could get her a shed
with suitable holes for added drafts
cross, did you know ata and I discovered there are people that actually feed their pets ***brace 'yerself*** every day?
NO! gasp!
a metal, non insulated shed would be best
*confesses* I bought Hobbit some food today
That was my reaction too
i just usually feed on to the other till im left with one big nasty critter lori:)
one*
buying it is okay, meting it out is a whole different kettle of fish
oh how sensible!
true. I just usually put it down next to Hobbit's empty bowl to taunt her
up here we just get lots of them from the pound then we have traction kitties for those tough winter mornings;)
good morning everyone....
morning carlee;)
hi Carlee!
carlee sees that and is dialing 911 on me:)
what are we eating today crossy?....
good evening lynxxx
also clever. what a good use of resources
indeed ata;0
traction kitties.....irreverent imp! lolol
Mornin' carlee
hi there lori <<YAWN>>> * eyes watering***
Excelelnt use of intimidation and power ata, sitting a food bag by the dish
Crossy... u need to smack me.... going camping again..the weather calling for highs of 7...lows of freezing...and RAIN....with winds up to 50 k
fireworks
for breakfast carlee a single slice of toast and a 1/4 bowl of corn flakes
I thought so
yaa for bfsog! 21 gun salute for you!
Yay bfsog!
woohoo for bfsog
Congratulations bfsog!
yaa for carlee! she is now a camping addict!
i dont like that fa6 word, tut tut
yay bfsog!
the kids are.....its hallowe'en at the park...
though tent camping in the freezing rain really, really bites:/
all I know is I am taking an old coffee can to pee in in the middle ofthe nite so I don't have to go in and out of the tent
now yer learning:)
just dont toss it in the morning fire...smelly;/
I learned that in the spring....we have not had rain the other 2 times camping
just don't touch your skin to can metal ...
Is there just the one fa?
yes
nah..i toss out the door I DON"T use ( my tent has 2 ) WAY on other side of tent....
Thanks bf!
hmm, missing an f. Any fe's?
brb
No fe's Lori
G'd morning FM! Danka
Hello :)
fifi!
Hi Ata!
hello FM
where's haz? do you think she's busy beating spangle?
Evening lynxxx
It's Thursday, she will be on her way back from RDA
I gots me 2 f 6's and nuthin' bigger?
no Lori
I'm sure, being a responsible pet owner, spangle is being harshly disciplined.
okay, thanks again. then it's a fish word. Ack
3 f6's at least
but there are 4 x f6
aha!
4!!
Okay I can't count. i got 3 6's. I didn't count the fa. Missing a 6 then. probally a plural knowing me
have you got the fi6/27?
Yup. Didn't extend the old dude. ***sigh***
yes
Thanks muchly FM. at least the f is done.
yay Lori
ok..what did spangle do?
ty lori!
:D @a hari
Spangle hasn't done anything Ata and Lori are stirring as usual ;)
*gasp*
and Hi carlee
ah...how typical...
I have fireworks...
woohoo for angel
Stirring what?
Congrats Angel
Congratulations Angel!
fish soup lori...
gruel!
She had a sore shoulder which Haz did nothing about (!) however husband came to the rescue with steroid shot/s. She still had to sleep in the shed though - the dog that is
Congrats Angel
but the dog has always slept in the shed..yes?
yes
gruel rhymes with cruel. Not a coincidence.
then what is the big deal?
in the cold, windswept shed, yep
Its a kennel not a shed anyway!
Outside semi exposed to the elements, injured, no less.
no insulation, or company!
ok...so..no problem
lynxxx, don't you start! :)
The big deal? Indulging an animal like that?
haha
its a dog...
injured, huge spaniel eyes, probably whimpering for attention and love ...
....and food.
Biscuit the Bichon is crying as he hears this story about his fellow canine
G'd morning bichon!
Hi all from doggy paradise where dog sleeps in our bed
Stew isn't crying, he's sound asleep stretched out o the couch, lying on the cushions and enjoying the warmth of the heater
Hi Bichon
*gasp* the horror!
heater?...its summer there now....cus it feels like winter here
*** heretics! ***
crossy,s back..who is grinding up dogs?
not enough people
apparently haz... care for dog stew crossy?
Spring - but we are fluctuating between heat and cold Carlee
ah...we just have cold....fluctuating between sunny and rainy
we used to have mamamutes..and it was impossible to make them indoor dogs as they secrete a musky oil that keeps them warm..they would rather play in a snowbank;)
malamutes
were they kept in a shed?
not to mention they were about 175 pounds in weight
I had one too...slept int he garage
They just want to be outside so they can kill any cats or possums that happen onto their territory! anything for food
shed would be too small..a dog run or a large garage would be fine
***not liking this grid***
***what grid ***
phantom word "encase"
there,s a grid?
the henna on my one hand is very distracting.....**sigh**
though a shed,if done right would be great for some dogs
then henna the other to make a set;0
the other one is stained with wine...so its a shade of puple
sounds like you had a interesting night..check your butt cheeks for new tattos...:)
( took my pathfinders to the mosque....they henna'ed all of us)
ohhh ok... thought it was a wild party
carlee, is there something I don't get about the henna?
what are pathfinders?
big boy scouts
well....there was lots of clothing flying ( traditional pakistani engagement and wedding clothes ).... as girls were trying it all on... and lots of food too...with henna...so...
pathfinders are the next age group after girl guides ( girl scouts)....
or girl guides as the case may be
okay, so it was a field trip to a mosque?
i remember the pathfinders..best time of my life;)
and the girls at the mosque did traditional henna patterns on our hands....but I only had one done as I work with cleaners and water and wine...and my right hand takes the brunt of it..would fade or end up a different colour
yeap... did a badge with them...
very interesting
though the boys did survival traing not hand painting:)
training*
we do BOTH crossy..cus us girls are multitaskers..not grunting farting belching boys :p
brb I need foood
* ** just finishing a toasted weestern omelet ***
gasp! attacked like this..urrp....why i never!!! beeelch!
Good day Babble Buddies
someone say omeltte?
**adopting some of fm's smugness**... exactly my point
hi scrabs
rabbit omlettes???
hi Scrabs
I recall being a den mother in the cub scouts. The boys never sat still long enough to do anything
howdy scrabbs;)
made with smoked turkey.....tres YUM
I would love an omelet, Carlee.
***whipping up omelets for the PB***
Haha, Bichon. Boys and girls are definitely wired differently.
i hant one with smiked ham and 3 kinds of shredded cheese please;)
want*
smoked*
G'd mornign scrabbler
Crossy, you cannot ever eat rabbit meat again, ever, now that you know me and my rabbit kids.
:(((((
no ham in this house crossy..but I have the 3 cheeses...probably 4 or 5....the smoked turkey version is nice
***silently observes, while eating bacon and eggs***
well...will have to switch to bambi meat i guess...sigh
the cub scouts met after school and after being confined all day, they had to let off steam, not work on projects
There are many other meats to eat, and I eat no4 so that means there is more for you.
i thought we was having dog today crossy???
no..but i hear haz is;))
dog meat is too stringy:(
isn't haz sharing?
ned to marinate it a bit
oh man..i could go for moose in a BIG way
Bichon, some schools are adopting gender-specific classrooms, and the boys do physical exercise every 7-8 minutes---> better focus and concentration. Boys need to move!
returns just in time to send Lori to the PB
you a vegetarian scrabbs?
Sounds like a good plan Scrab
morning fm:((()))
***doh! stomps off to PB***
Hello crossy good to see you to :)
Yep---since Gross Anatomy, August 1981. That experience changed everything. I cannot look at muscle/meat the same way.
there lots of omeletes coming up lori....
Hi FM
what about cheese,eggs,butter etc?
Hi Scrab dear.
I am not vegan...yet.
crossy, off to the PB and join Lori
back :)
coo..crossy whips up scrabbs a giant omellete with 6 eg 4/8
I could do vegetarian, but vegan, never. Need my dairy.
**waving to Silverclaw & Hobbit**
( there...maybe crossy's stomach will stop growling....1/4 bowl of cornflakes....sheesh..pitiful)
darn..too late..crossy trudges off to the pb....
better be a toilet in there.....
you had the opposite experience to me, scrabs - I used to be vegetarian until I had to dissect things at uni. When I decided I couldn't possibly justify being veggie when I was hacking through fish and cows on a daily basis
of course, all mod cons :)
***passing crossy the tin can***
Interesting, Ata.
morning
Haha, Carlee.
Hi Doren
lol carlee. Hi Dorens
hey there dorens
have five minutes. but maybe someone can tell me why folic isn't a word? as in folic acid
hi Dorens
they are now doing a study on veggies to see if they have a "soul" they wire them up and they show that at the moment of picking of dunking in boiling water, that they have a electronic "scream" so you will have to go to fallen leaves and distilled water ladies;)
I wondered that dorens
i don't wanna go to work...
I wanna be a couch potato
or cow pies
folic should be a word, I agree, Doren.
Hi Jean.
well, that is some comfort -- that we agree, now we just need to educate enable!
urg....M-in-l sending me loads of the "anti obama smear e.mails"
how annoying, carlee
'Smears' About Obama Largely True
Monday, October 20, 2008 9:32 PM By: Lowell Ponte Article Font Size The Obama campaign says its candidate is a victim of "smears" — and has even created a Web site to fight such attacks. But a Newsmax investigation finds many of the so-called smears are largely based in truth — and the Obama campaign uses half-truths, clever language, and ad hominem attacks to spin the facts. Obama's www.FightTheSmears.com focuses mainly on anti-Obama messages being repeated on the Internet and talk radio, the only media where Obama's ideological allies are not dominant.
Oh dear Carlee! That's not good
crossy goes off to kill some veggies for the offsprings lunch..brb
how funny.... the web site this rants about..i have been sending ALL of her anti obama e.mails to
heigh ho, heigh ho, it's off to work I go, and then a board meeting afterwards, so won't be home to attack this nasty grid for another eleven hours at least.
bye Dorens
I'm off too, nite everyone
nite nite lynxxx

Ty for clues below
*na7*
I'm now typing all of this on the voice typing program no more keyboard:))
It's probably a "not" word. I HATE those
ca 8...make the ca 5 prior feminine
ca5 (Church law) + female suffix
me too
no7 means virtually the same as the eg7
Are you serious, Crossy?
TY, MM
thanks Scrabbs and Lori, already had the ca5/12, got the ca8
Yes I'm totally serious, this program is called trade in NaturallySpeaking. It learns from my voice and flexion accent and as it learns will eventually allow me to type up to 160 words and then it
omg its a stupid word
thanks kim
As you can see it's not perfect yet, but it's always learning
:)
no7 has been in grids before
I'm I being thick, - why can't I find the no6/18
Cool, Crossy.
yw scabs
the programme is called"dragon naturally speaking"
*scrabs

Scrabs that word reminds me of Gilda Radner on Saturday Night Live
*blinks* um ok ...
Yuk. Thanks MM, woulda' never gotten the no 7. Thanks again!
ty
yw lori
is that normal American behaviour??!
Yes, that is where I learned the word, Peri. Wasn't it Lisa Loopner with her geeky boyfriend, Todd (Bill Murray)?
This program would be perfect for use scrabs at work. Just think of all the time you save dictating all those letters by the police instead of typing them in
please?
Voice*
no 6, no + telekin**** oooh, psychic
yes It was, Scrabs. I Love Gilda Radner.
It would be wonderful, Crossy, but boss, Richard Head, would never spend the money to get it.
Glad I wasn't the only one that tried noogies.
Thankee kindly Lori!
Here it is $199 plus tax
Yes, Ata, normal, goofy, silly American behavior, by funny people like me!!
how - very - strange :D
Not too bad, crossy.

Saul that rabbit dandruff that makes you crazy
Good choice, crossy, for her!!

The Voice Program thinks you said "Saul" and not "it's all", lol

it learns every day
I wish I learned every day.....
Gabe and walked to the valley of the shadow of death I shall fear no evil by Rod and staff they comfort me

They recommend you read it at least two or three chapters of your favorite book to learn your voice

Ringo is my new puppy - who is so f'n cute, we are ignoring the fact that my daughter is allergic!
green, only thing required was refreshing
for everyone who is seeing the black box, YOU need to refresh...
I've replied 3 times (so far) that didn't go through to the log upon "enter"... and it's giving me that "words must be over 3 characters" error even though I type in more than that... I think babble is having a Monday...
have eva... didn't work
worked for me, kje
ass so your writing her a scip for industrial strength bennalyn while you teach the puppy to go outside to pee;0
well that is harsh asg - LOLOL
well, ignoring isn't quite true - we're drugging her and about to buy lots of allergy products for the pup
don't really care who it worked for as i have tried twice and it doesn't work for me... eventually it will straighten itself out
i see your puppy asg:)
sorry, kje . . .
i am, unfortunately, still seeing the black box when i click on your icon, greenie... i think if you click to (1) where you uploaded the image and (2) "my account" and refresh in both of those places, it should fix the black bos in your profile...
LOL kje - go look at her on facebook!
it's black on my computer too, but if I click on my profile here in chat, it comes up

i have only purposefully sucked you into a hard grid one time....

Chin up.
Hello all :)
Hello FMitch!
Are you saying my chin droops?
Hadn't you noticed?
Hey Haz! is it as ycky with you as it looked like on this a.m weather forecast?
chin or chins?
It's horrible weather. Wet, windy and generally to be abhorred.
Horibble
The only thing that could be worse than this weather would be to have chins that droop like Lori's.
clue for so 4/8
any clue for the na7?
*giggle*
More Chin's than a Chinese phone book.
Are you feeling any better FM-asaurus?
plural of mrs reagan's name ouw
Lots of clues for na7 throughout the log, mostly involving Mrs Reagan multiplied.
thanks...got it
done...anyone need a clue?
*snif* red nose and blech but I can clue

yes so 4/8
Congrats Ouwa
Congratualtions Ouichita!
Have you got a case of the soggies?
*Dang, spelled it wrong again. Sorry. Ouwachita
Darn, PB for me.
You want detail Haz? I will spare you and all other babblers
so48....sounds like what a mop does, but spelled differently
No, no detail. I can't be doing with details of people's illnesses.
lol
AND I broke a nail
You can never have enough detail. No. Really.
Maeve Binchy's father used to tell her 'Always remember that 'How are you?' is a greeting and not a question.' He was a wise man.
gm all!
Did you break the nail while doing anything interesting?
Hi missb
G'd morning miss
Helo missbeeze.
Hey FM, Lori, Haz and all!
did you find the fo6 Lori :)
The old thing?
the ancient old thing not the old people one
***hands FM a wuality "Lee press on nail" as compensation***
Wow - I've been playing this game for a good while now, and I just realized how the point values help with your little tip Haz - probably an admission i'll regret! WOW!
heh heh he. yup!
Good excuse for a manicure
missb!! how funny
A light bulb moment for you, missbeeze? It's all a question of lo5/16.
that is quite embarassing actually! But helpful nonetheless!
is there more than 1 oi please?
lol
Just the one, lori.
oh the wackiness of it all...
Shoot. Thanks Haz.
There's an ol5 that looks like a plea to mixed up grown up nits. Now, tell me where you've ever seen a more convoluted clue?
I had to think twice and I have the word already :)
Ack! My missing ol was the 5 ***slaps forehead***
You mean I've helped?
simultaneous thoughts Haz! It wasn't convoluted, just a bit of a stretch. :D
It was a good clue
yes and i too got it Haz - even considering my denseness!
I don't get it
fireworks
even with my clothes on
Less convoluted - ol plus frozen water rearranged

Hi kje, hows goes the trip?
***pictures FM stripping, falls in the TMI category***
LOL lori
You need another lo, Lori.
going well FM... Bucharest tonight
The badge lo4 can have a vowel on the end.
Hey kje, enjoying the trip? :) Thanks Haz.
you're missing a lo Lori
KJ! You have come out of imaginary land (to some degree anyway, in that you have a visible flag)
Ooo intersting I've not been there
oh, i am still living there, bee... at least until Nov 4
There's an lo6/30 - same structure as the singular condition suffered by FM.
doh, just figured out what TMI meant, it's OK Lori it will all go back on again shortly after heatwave pasees or is that TMI too?
Thank you Haz, got it
You're welcome.
TMI would be telling us exactly what you're wearing and where you bought each item.
when you go on your actual vacation?
Hmmm can anyone clue the eg7 plz? Can't get it at all.
eg7 - being without selfish thought?
Dec 10 - 30
Oh of course - thanks a lot Haz.
You're welcome.
so why nov 4th then?
election
just saw your comment Haz :) All I will say is that today I am dressed by Tescos
ha! of course!
and I don't mean carrier bags
Ah well. That is something of a relief.
afternoon everyone
AFternoon Katie
Hello Katie!
hi Katie!
Just went to Dunkin Donuts. Asked for a powdered donut, received a glazed. Language barrier. Sigh.
lol Judi
when you decide to eat a donut, you definitely want to get the right kind.
neighbor dropped in for a sec. Nope, I have the 6/30 haz. Maybe a plural missed, which I'm famous for....
I at it anyway. Wasn't the same, though.
*ate*
cake donuts are OK... otherwise, not really a fan
Ack! Foiled by a latiny kinda' word. Poopy
Those Romans.
aaaawww - noogie is not a word - LOL
Lori's almost to the PB :-)
we ALL tried it, kje! LOL
LOL
Found my n, in a twist, I had the plural, not the singular. 5 s's left, all evil I;m sure
Krusty Kream donuts hmmmmmm
2 ns left... was hoping for noogie and plural - LOL
I tried it too, and was crushed it wasn't a word.
HAven't had a domut for about 10 years :(
Morrion's blueberry donuts are good, but KK ones are the best
You're possibly not missing anything except a great deal of fat and sugar.
hello
You can feel your arteries hardening in the KK queue but sometimes a little of what is bad for you is good :-)
best to stay away from those
could someone clue the el6?
Hi harp
if you want to indulge there are much more enjoyable options
Like?
hi kids!
like so6/24, harp
any clues out there for SO6/24 please? my last word...
Banoffee pie
Gaad Morning! I finally know where i'm moving! :D
Lol pug that is timing
so6/24 is french for well groomed . . . or cared for
now that is good FM :-)
Hi dc, where?
hey, dc!!
that is just up to opinion - i like a good creme brulee, but i'm just saying if i'm going to eat something indulgent, i'm going for it!
ironic isn't it? didn't see that till I'd hit enter
Thanks Une, pug, I was missing that one....
i don't do that often
ironically, back to the same apartment building i moved from 3 years ago, this time to Apt 203.
still here in Reston, Virgnia, but in the North section, off of Temporary Rd and North Shore Dr
That's very circular of you dc.
how funny dc, and when do you move?
the 28th we get keys, and i'm moving ASAP, so sometime next week
"Temporary Road". Temporary until what? It falls off the face of the earth?
most of the house is packed, so it's doable :)
missing a se5/10, got the one that sounds like a color
just need to hire the movers to haul the stuff
Holly, have the one that registers quake levels? ;)
Temporary Rd was made 20 years ago, as a temp truck route for constructing the Reston Town Center. VDOT came along, and gave it the name that was spraypainted on the fibreboard
my french is rather lacking, have another way to clue that please?
That was it, thank you Lori
there's an Ad Hoc Rd in Great Falls, VA, named afetr the ad-hoc committee of residents who could not decide on a name for their road when they were naming roads in this county back in 1967.
I got it on a translator on google, don't know how else to clue it pug
so + not you + not a drop left, all *o***
so + ***ore my clue + a vowel
oh, good clue, lori!!
ty vm & fireworks

..yep .. straw in her hair and everything
LOL FM
She's all woman.
10
ruru: is t hird letter a vowel or cons? lets start that way.
Try using www.morewords.com.
go kje go go
I had falsies and loved them, couldn't type mind, but loved them!!!
Hello, all!
Yay Vi :)
Hello Vicuna!
hi vic
oh! found it. I associate that AG with a uni, not a person LOL
ag5 - large shooting marble
ty ty got it.
you might think it is a cute pet name for farmers the ag 5 and its plural
When you discuss falsies, which part of your anatomy exactly did they augment, KatieMcG?
wow never would have thought of farmers wife. ty ty for all clues.
Are there any fishy so 5's? I'm in total DENSA mode
ca 5 12, need the third one please.
Oh definitely nails ruru, I have what nature gave me elsewhere :-)
ca after all the boat words.
***still giggling over FM and her falsies***
bbl - hair appt. :)
I am a nature lover...
Lori concentrate on your s's *stern look*
lol
religious ca5/12, not a military one.
Because other falsies that interfered with typing would really be something!
Breaking news here at the police station: contractors excavating city property for new construction unearth very old gun and human remains. Mystery!!
LOL Vi
thanks to my rommie, 5 cups of Assateaque Island sand now reside in the forets of Olivebridge, NY, speaking of nature
ty dc got two from that one.
Well Vic, FM is pretty talented....
ooh I say Judi!
Lol vic
whereish is that, judi, how interesting
New Castle, Delaware.
oh, how odd.
Verrrry interesting, Judi.
probably one of Palin's former Police officers..
ty, mkg, extending that word did not occur to me.
5
Lori, when you say FM is talented, are we talking, "A little brains, a little talent... with an emphasis ont he latter"?
Yes! I can't wait to see the pictures. One of our officers who just came from the scene says the gun is almost fo6/27-ized.
***refusing to admit how fishworthy that word was, and tiptoes out quietly, thanking everyone for their help. Have a good one all!***
Get back here woman and confess.
What about the person?
***it was a plural, and that's all I'm sayin'...... DENSA charity work awaits!***
Just bones. No further identification yet.
hey lori hey all!
Going cleaning for somebody?
lo 6/30 please
Hello TO!
hi, haz!
Hiyo, TO!
oh, ruru... watch this video, speaking of P... http://tbogg.firedoglake.com/2008/10/0 3/hey-sarah-palin/
Hello To!
bbs, need to attend to a few things here in the house.
lo6/30 - John lo*** Baird but with double consonant
the farmers wife's brother the tree cutter is the lo6
lol, ruru
ty, ruru!
wait a minute, ther eis no r i this grid i am confused :/
1st se?
Thanks haz & ruru
3
se plus the first letters of a garden dweller - think pointy hat and fishing rod.
You're welcome, Katie.

hi ata
Yay for kje!
as 6?
LOVE your wolf, Vi!
ruru - did you see the video link? horrible singing, but funny song
it didn't connect.. is the info correct?
as6/24 - verb form of what the teacher tells you to do
Thanks, Ata. =)
sigh... will check
ty Vicuna
is today unicorn day?
http://tbogg.firedoglake.com/2008/10/0 3/hey-sarah-palin/
I'm on vacation but I THINK it's Thursday
So, am I hard-hearted or too sensible? What do you make of someone who gets her workmates to sign a get-well card for her 8 week old puppy and then asks the vet to meet her after hours so she can get it to the puppy undergoing treatment in the surgery?
Yes. I think my unicorn must have been eaten by a wolf. =P
yes harp
Good grief, Haz!
oh. wow.
can i have a clue for the na 7/32 please , thanx
nuts
Seems rather ott
Oh good. I'm not alone in being bamboozled.
Isn't 8 weeks a little too young for the puppy to be able to read the card yet?
na7 - plural mrs reagan
That's a bit extreme. Unless the puppy can read, then it makes perfect sense. *rolls eyes*
as if the puppy would get anything from a card!
LOLOL vi
Haha!
na7/32 - lots of Mrs Reagans. (Yikes!)
thanx kje
how's la glitterata today?
yw
tell me you made that up Haz, please!!!!!
It happened last weekend in the surgery - the other vet's wife dealt with her.
Spangle is fine. Wondering where her get well cards are but otherwise fine.
yayyy :)
i would not have met her after hours for that... she can come during normal hours and do whatever she likes... but that is ridiculous
I should send her an e-card
Poor poor Spangle, not getting any get-well cards. DId you send her flowers, at least?
Katie - I didn't make it up. She also wanted the puppy to have a toy that had her and her husband's scent on it.
we are si****** it as we speak :-)
Spangle's too famous to read her own fan mail. That's why she has you as her PA, Haz.
The compromise reached was that she left the card and the toy in a box at the back of the surgery. The next time the vet went in to check the animals was when it was delivered.
And how was all this taken by said vet?
and by the puppy? did it wee on them?
Did the puppy get miffed that it was improperly delivered?
Well, vet's wife was glad that it wasn't her husband who had spoken to the woman - and the vet who was dealing with the puppy is young and easy-going.
Fuuuuuuunny kje.. thanks
that has to go down in The Annals of Vet Life
Lol Haz, I bet she was, days of chuntering would have had to be endured
Isn't it ridiculous? What I couldn't get over was that the work colleagues had signed the card.
asg sent it, ruru... thought you'd like it
lol. They probably didn't dare refuse!
how many work colleagues? did she canvas the whole office?
She is probably their boss, either than or it was the quickest way of getting her to shut up about it
Much easier to si4 the thing than endure her outrage at their refusal.
did she find Liam Neeson to askhim to si4?
They all went home and said "you never guess what that tapped woman had us doing today"
please tell me the puppy was called Foofoo or Flopsy or something cutesy
I don't know how many people signed it - must check if they still have it in the surgery.
people who name their dogs foofoo should be taken out back and bludgeoned..
I don't know what the pup was called. Do you want to know the worst thing?
oh *yes*
Lay it on us, Haz!
It died....
noooooo! poor babe!
No!
Oh, no!
what was wrong with it?
*wondering does it make me a very very bad person by laughing very hard at the moment?*
I know. I feel sorry for the puppy. I'm just hoping the woman doesn't ring up for counselling.
The card crushed it it was so big
Poor woman! Somehow I don't think she'll be dealing with this well.
Parvo-virus - pretty difficult to treat in such a young animal.
Oh, dear. How very not James Herriot happy ending.
oh yes, it does. Katie. it makes us all very bad
oh poor babe
I"m guessing she does not have children
*FM's comment makes katie spit lemonade on hubby's computer*
LOLOLOL, FM!!
Katie - I laughed as well because I had visions of elaborate funeral rites.
reckon it'll get a Baileys wreath?
Obviously I'm sorry for the puppy, but seriously what sort of life would it have been?
HArd to fit a lot of pall-beareers under a tiny puppy.
NO, it would have to be dog-shaped or bone shaped or something.
*hands Katie tissues to wipe the screen*
I'm also guessing she did not grow up on a ranch, where you fall in love with your animals and sell them at the fair....
Can you imagine the misery the workmates are going through right now!!
I have to confess that they once had a Yorkshire terrier die in the surgery. A custom made coffin arrived and two vets did a ceremonial march past (behind closed doors!)
oh wow
Or watch them all get run over on the highway. My husband grew up on a farm and they reminisce fondly about all their dogs... But it never occurs to them to keep it leashed, or indoors, or anything.
Feeling hard hearted at leaving fuggy at the vets and not getting full state funeral for him!
what sort of dog was the parvo dog?
What's next? A horse-drawn caison?
I don't know, Ata, I was just hearing the bare outline of the details from Kate this morning.
Katie, Katie, Katie. Now how will poor Fuggy face the other pets in heaven?
bet it was a yorkie or - no - a bichon frise (*checks around for bichon*) or toy poodle
or a *bedlington* (my worst insult for a dog)
Those things are not dogs, Ata! They are deformed sheep!
better that than being dug up by one of the three kitties, that was my lo*** anyway! He can brag about the number of toys he had :-)
hi haz hi fm hi ata hi judi hi all
Hi TO
The surgery used to use a crematorium for cremation of animals but changed when they once sent back the ashes of a cat - in husband's words there were enough ashes for a donkey... The receptionist had to empty some outside the door before giving a respectable amount to the cat owners who had come to collect the remains.
they are. they are nasty and smelly and trembly and they make far too much noise (when I was trying to study for exams, next-door's bedlington pack used to constantly howl)
oooops
Ahh well, Katie. I'm sure you raised him to hold his own with honest self-esteem.
Was it ASGreen who was getting a new puppy on Sunday?
LOL haz they charge a fortune here for cremation. the way i look at it, once you're gone, you're gone.
yep the half labradoodle effort called Ringo
Well, at least they didn't empty out the bar-b-que and try to pass that off as kitty's remains.
Haz (and everyone else) have you read Evelyn Waugh's "The LOved One"?
Hello, TO.
Not I, Ata.
oh yes.
I know, TO. But everyone has different ideas and you have to cater for them.
i need a laugh - just back from big bosses' office and it did not go well
No, Ata - have I missed out on a good read?
Uh oh, To. What happened??
oh *yes*. you really should read it, it's sooooo wonderfully funny. It's set in an American pet crematorium
haz - i was sorely tempted. but i made myself think about it
read back TO
TO, what part of the conversation did you come on on? Did you get the bit about the get well card for the doomed puppy?
which sounds depressing, but its Waugh at his absolute brilliantest and funniest
I'll seek it out, Ata.
just i did not have inof and everyone is gone to a meeting and they left me home to deal with stuff that used to be my job but is no longer...
the filmis very very dry.
there's an awful lot of over-the-top pet stories through it
Time for lunch. BBL.
When you hear some of my stories, maybe they don't seem so ott!
Bye Judi
TO - from 10.39 - I think you'll laugh.
exactly, I think you'll sympathise on a lot of levels
wait ata - didn't the film change it to humans?
*gasp*
Thus unfolds Evelyn Waugh's The Loved One: An Anglo-American Tragedy, his pitiless satire of Hollywood, America, and death. The plot centers on Dennis Barlow, a minor British poet, who comes to Hollywood commissioned to bring Percy Shelley's life to the big screen, but instead settles for employment at a pet cemetery called the Happier Hunting Ground. Life at the H.H.G. is rewarding: where else could one experience the satisfaction that comes from scattering the ashes of a tabby cat from an airplane over Sunset Boulevard?
oh heck - get well cards for pets?
That does sound like a good read Ata
ata google the film - it had jonathon winters - i think they changed it.
he goes on to work with humans too, TO, but starts off with the pets
oh ok - thought i was having another unexplainable moment
nope, not quite :) I cant imagine a film of that book though, the brilliance is all how Evelyn Waugh writes
it is dry to some. to ohteres it downright *thinking of suitable synonym to use in the queen's presence*....uh, er...
Evelyn Waugh is very very dry English humour, even to English people
Waiting....
arid? sere? dessicated?
TO is looking for le mot juste...
Well juste find a mot!
is NOT a very good film *smug*
loool
Oh, well done!
se 5/14 the first one please
I can really imagine that. And you meant - crap. LOL
lol, TO.
se5 - se plus first three letters of the pointy-hatted garden dweller.
there are 2 se5/14?
thanks Haz
There are.
yes ata
Back shortly, fancy some marmite soldiers :)
You're welcome.

Anybody else getting a vision of a girl in Austrian costume and a proper British gent? (Poppyseed Strudel and Earl Grey)
Their love was doomed from the start....
i have vo4/7, can someone please provide the points an length for the others?
good morning/afternoon everyone :)
Divided by language and distance.....
Yeah. Ms Strudel left the Earl for a marmite soldier.
oh, Haz, i right near choked i laughed so!
vo5/20
ROFL Haz that was inspired!
I sometimes think babble chat should come with a health and safety warning.
two vo4/7s
at times it would be appropriate, haz
hello, nan
hmmm not looking good for that v05/20...
hi nan
Have you recovered yourself, dc?
quite so, haz, ty
vo5/20 - same structure as John L**** Baird.
Oh good. I'd hate for a lawsuit.

FM, so true. I know I would if it were my son.
oh -- you were asking about words beginning with the negative -- 2
i want points for LOKO
well cait, that is wonderful... and they do it all the time and it's just par tof the job, he'd say, i bet
no4/5? or full words with the prefix?
well, it might be a good thing that he doesn't tell you about what he does at work -- could be really gross stuff sometimes
must make you proud, Cait
and LOKET, that sounds like a word I know . . .
no4-5 combo: grandmother(s)
NM - the non word was in another grid this week
no 4: nothing
Thank you all Im very proud but will still tell him off for doing it LOL Then hug him

Hi - are there instructions anywhere how to play?
Byee :)
see the help link above, pheebers, and welcome
click on the help icon at the top of the page
ty nan - do you have a clue handy please?
phee, it's the same rules as Boggle. You can get them by clicking on the help button just above the chat
Hi Pheebers welcome to the game ask if you need to know anything
seain just clued, TO
TO el6 - add vowel and mixed up gerund
ok i will scroll back - i think isaw it but didn't get it
Thanks! I've started finding words but I'm not sure what it means when someone writes a word in the chat and it has a number mixed in :)
pheebers EL6 mean starts weth EL and 6 letters
ne4/4- starts with NE , 4 letters, 4 points
ca 6/21: ca = first 2 letters, 6 = number of letters in word, 21 = number of points in word
phee, click on the tiny green link at the bottom for Lickety's Babble Clues Lickety gives you the first two letters of each word, plus how many letters in the word, plus the word's point value The point value sometimes helps you figure out if you need a word with a high-scoring letter in it, and things like that
Ohhhhhh! Thanks so much
that's from the clues, pheebers... there's a list (link under Friends of Babble under the board) that gives you the first 2 letters and total number of letters in the word
we use the same shorthand as lickety does, or should I say lickety do4
ty got it. time is short - wish i had the list
then get it, TO
lol
You do realise that this game is an addiction though Phee !!
phee, be careful, though, this game is HIGHLY addictive!!
Snap Gwen!!
ack, caitlyn is reading my mind LOL
snap, snap!!!
*runs over to scramble*
if no more clues are needed, I will be on my way...
ciao, nan :) have a lovely afternoon
Have you got a busy day ahead nan?
Bye then nan..
not really -- one project stalled and just finished sewing 32 cornucopia sacks for the hospital auxiliary. Husband is out curling, so have the rest of the morning free :)
I'm figuring out that it's addictive.... sigh...
LOL Phee
yay for addiction!
some of us can't even go to bed if we're "not finished the grid" by the end of the day
hi all
Try to relax for a while then nan :)
but it is a good addiction, Phee, welcome!

ever noticed how kids these days talk in cyber-speak. My 17-y-o daughter actually says the letters ... WTF? ... or LOL.
soon they will just grint at leach other
grunt even
LOL!
lady not getting your clue
the circle of life... didn't cavemen grunt?
i predict that terms like LOL will be in dictionaries very soon. hopefully a lot sooner that the non-word "alot" LOL
actuall now that i think of it,my boy does just grint..how wasy your day..fine..what did you do..nothin.....where are you going?..nowhere
lol
hmmm... don't know how else to clue it... e + cut of meat with a silent consonant that's used when you si** a letter?
stuck on the na7 help please??!!
computers may yet "cure" english of a lot of its bad spelling, like who needs "enough" when "enuf" will do?
na7, a bunch of Mrs. Reagans
yes they did..but cavemen were actually trining to communicate..the kids are not
trying* even
spelling used to be phonetic - fonetik?!- in the Middle Ages
true, cross... but they text messages with expertise!
there is no evidence that cavemen grunted. however, they made very good wine.
english is a mongrel language (most are) but we have no system or committee to fix it. other languages do
Thanks for that I got the na1 Didnt know they had anything to do with Mrs R!!
I better turn this voice program back on it types better than I do now
every "spelling rule" in english has exceptions
Yes I find that this program uses the American spelling versus the British spelling
theater vs theatre for example
color vs colour
it uses both most of the time, cross... at least I find it to
THEATR. problem solved. lol
we have tyres on our cars!
or maybe THEETR. hmmmm
no i mean my speech to type prgram, not the babble program
TYERZ
don't mind me, i'm ranting about spelling in general
oh, I get it, cross. well... probably developed in the US
ever read "The Mother Tongue" BDG?
i've read plies of stuff on spelling, but not sure if i read that. do you remember who wrote it?
I can usually spot a spelling mistake at 100 yards! I am a terrible snob when it comes to spelling - and pronunciation
sorry... "The Mother Tongue: English and how it got that way"
I don't recall offhand, but it should be googleable
lady, nope, don't think i've read that. but i admit, i'm not so much interested in how as much as making some reasonbale changes to how we use it today
I'm like that too, Deha. Luckily I have got a career where I can exercise that fanatacism from time to time.
reasonable, i meant
and Douglas Adams follow up book, "the answer to the life universe and everything"
:)
oh, but it's a very well written book (and it does present some arguments for what you are saying)
used to an editor (despite my bad typing), so i can spell "correctly" if i want to. i just think "correct" spelling is a highly artifical construct that could stand some revision
actually, I found it hysterical. and I don't generally read non-fiction.
we are such a mixture of french and eglish with smatterings of other lings that there is no hope of a pure language anymore
english even
There are 5 copies - apparently - of Shakespeares signature and he spells it differently every time
deeha, exactly. the idea of "correct" spelling is less than 100 years old. and it's been a pain ever since LOL
what are you now, gwen?
cross, i'm not talking about pure language, only reasonable spelling reform
lady, i sell used books
hokt unn funnix wurkt fir mi..o know im just being a apin:/
how far away from me are you? I have 20+ boxes of them.
mm i better let the speech program take over...im doing too many typos myself;(
Did you know - Michael Caine! - that an anagram of William Shakespeare is I am a weakish speller!!!
no language is pure. if you go to any place where two languages meet, you will find a third language in between them. then go to the border of that and you find another one. there are no strict boundaries
lady, i'm in farmington mich. do you want my phone number?
finally got it lady ty
I just gave away 6 boxes of used books and 4 or 5 boxes of old records (including 78 rpms)
lol wildcat!
"know." there's a fine example. what's that K doing in there???????
lady, 78s are not my thing. but used book, yes!
I have old text books dating back to the early 1900s
ack, i need a new keyboard. keep dropping letters
but something new in language is always evolving..did you know that untill the book "peter pan" was written the name "wendy" did not exist?
lady, why? (i mean, why does anyone save old textbooks?) no, seriously, there are a few topics that might be of interest, but usually old textbooks have no market value
that's interesting, cross. I did not know that?
After training this program for about a month gwen i hope to get rid of the keyboard completely
lady, are you near me? if you said, i missed it
It's true lady:)
yes, languages evolve just like finches. cool isn't it
bbl
my mother is a packrat? these are readers...early books for schoolchildren at different levels of reading. collectors' items, I guess. good stories, though
i see you ar ein alberta. that's a 3-day drive, sorry!
lady, old readers are not collector's items, generally speaking. only certain series are.
lol gwen. I gathered we were at a distance (and shipping costs would be horrendous).
yeah, I'm not surprised, gwen. But, as I said, my mother was (is) a packrat. AND she was a teacher.
you need to find a local dealer to show them to. just bring three or four with you. bring one in really good condition, and bring one that is in the worst condition, so dealer can "see" how bad they are
condition will have a great effect on value, so if they are scribbled in, or torn, broken, warped, stinky, etc, all that will lower value
here I have been chogging away about books, and I just realized I have 1 word left!
UNO for ladynatts!
I'll do that, Gwen.... if I ever get around to it.
35 to go here, and i need to have some eats. BBL
happy munching, BDG!
now what the hell kind of word is that vo5,20?
hmmm. 1. conceited; proud. 2. cheerful; merry. Scottish, apparently... now what were we saying about language?
Hi for a bit!
hiya monkey. I just finished
vo520? Ooof, clue please?
Yay for you Lady!!!! I will not be finishing this evening. But such are the brdens we bear in this life, eh?
think of a fashion magazine and then change the 2nd to last vowel for the vo5,20 MG
Thanks! That IS just silly!!!
Guess what I found for Walter today?
zactly
what, Monkey?
nasty word that was;/
He's had a bay-type keyboard for a while, but today in someone's I'm-moving-out-so-take-this-stuff-pil e (a tradition here) I found him a Casio SA-65 synthesizer! He has already mastered selecting "tone" and then entering a random sequence to see what the keys sound like.
did you see the definition, cross? I posted it earlier.
a stogie gone awry
And he keeops playing Demo1 over and over, but now instead of a totally awful rendition of Jingle Bells we have an OK version of Ode to Joy!
That first post should say "baby type"
oh cool... so you have a future musician on your hands
my in-laws wanted to buy my son a drum set when he was small.i agreed on the condition that it be stored at thier house and used there exclusivly:)
LOL cross... smart thinkin'
Could be. My randfather is a child-prodigy and world famous folk singer who can play anything on anything, and it seems to have skipped a couple of generations... I have perfect pitch but no real aptitude... but if you track back through the genealogy, Walter's about due for the music.
back in a moment..
Good one, Cross!
I had other family Issues and got mys baby brother sna sister (12 and 15 years younder than me) all the things mom wouldn't let me have, like an electric train set and , indeed, a drum set.
Sna???? Am I having a stroke? AND!
I had to read it twice, but I understood, Monkey.
Great, thanks! But, I mean, really!?!
you're just... enthused. I do that too, from time to time.
Been that kind of day. Had my last paid-for physio appt. today and he really went for it. Really don't want to start back on teh painkillers, so saw that I am entitled to 500 Euros in alternative care... should i go acupuncture or chiro[practy? Leaning toward acupuncture.
Things are swelling.
But I'm down 2 1/2 kilos in the last 10 days so that should help in the ong run... just 23 or so to go!
I've heard good things about acupuncture
Applied for a job, too, after the past 19 months at an unpaid residency....
I have had good luck in the past with acupuncture.
Sorry that I do ramble so. Again, that kind of day. And you folks here are my over-four social group.
Lots of under-fours.
good luck? or good results? I was just talking to a co-worker the other day who said her therapist does both
Oooh! Well, good results in my case, but ,aybe I should sjhop around to get the luck person...
Once I had a headache that was UNBELIEVABLE. All I could do was lie on the bed and moan and pull hair oput. A friend told my husband she could get me in at the acupuncture school.
can I ask you, Monkey...? what is a job at an unpaid residency?
The instructor took one look at me, and asked if he could let students watch. Of course I said whatever, just fix it!
Tell you after this story...
okay
So all the students came in and the guy proceeded to make me look like that one from Hellraiser. Needles through the eyebrows, temples, you name it. Dozens of them. No change. The he said, "This is the one!" and stuck a needle straight through the bridge of my nose. That headache turned off like someone threw a switch and never came back. I swear that was SO goo I went synesthesic and heard the colrs singing briefly.
OK, I am a third-year social work student. I get my Bachelors' in Feb. Meantime they don't have to pay you for your 1200 required hours of work experience. That is my unpaid residency. I have 60 hours left. Ihave applied for a job.
wow...I should tell my ex-co-worker friend about that... she is plagued by headaches all the time.
ah, I see. 1200 hours? that's excessive.
Do tell her! It was quite an experience. My husband gets migraines but sadly needles send him into shock...#
Well, it's pretty normal for this kind of degree here. But seeing as to how I am doing it in Dutch I am pretty darned burned out now...
Dutch is HARD.
no doubt. Poor MG
Oh, I'll get through it... always do. But thank you for the sympathy. I need all I can get (pathetic whimper...)
Just need to make it to Feb. But it would beso nice to get this job in the meantime! We NEED the income.
you're welcome. but that's all you're going to get. no-one else is chogging.
mg reading back, your better off with accupuncture
No, no, usually I rely on family for the sympathy. Just thanks is all. There was such a great job my friend thought she could get me at the WWII Jewish History Museum, but it wasn't suited to my education so I would have had to do it AND the residency and just cannot do that, not with a four-year-old.
Yeah, I'm pretty adrned sure I'm going with the needles.
wife is on a amazing pill for her migraines..let me get the name for you.......
Uh oh, husband's found the new keyboard...
Oh please do!!!
k mg its called "AMITRIPTYLINE"
and its not expensive!
What was great about the museum job was that it was archiving, and verifying validity of archived materials. Fun, interesting, self-reliant, and a real break from casework...
OK, I will pass this on to our general practitioner, Cross, thank you!
np at all:)
Exopensive doesn't matter though... the physiotherapy was removed from basic coverage but medicines weren't. It'll be free,
took 10 years for our doc to finnaly cough them up for visci
vicki* even
finally even..should let the speech to type program take over again:/
Right now Danny's taking Maxalt, which has helped more than anything else so far.
Ah, c'mon, you make fewer typos than I do. Or is that commit typos?
whereabouts are you, cross? I can't tell from your profile (which is great, by the way)
first our doc tried to offer us pills that cost 50 dollars each and you had to take them when you thought you were going to get a migraine..what a bunch of crap!
Dang, THAT sucks!
ty lady im in the georgian bay area right near blue mtn..3 hours north of toronto
Know what else sucks? We have a bank account below zero and we just found out that in a month there's a local concert... Chuck Berry and Jerry Lee Louis. Dang!!!
:((
it figures, I may as well go to Mexico to find a friend. But seriously, your profile is very inspiring.
for mg.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8yRdDnr B5kM
Of course that's 9 days after the date on this draw ticket I bought months ago to support an elderly folks' charity... top prize is 15000 Euros...
Where are you, Lady?
tyvm lady..its been a tough road but i can help others now;)
Alberta, mg... that's in canada
alberta lol i can be there i 4 days lady:)
that's awesome, cross. No wonder I come here.
I know where Alberta is. I wasn't always Dutch. Of course, I WAS a USian, so OK, maybe I could be expected to have no sense of geography!
lol @ U.S ian
Cross, thanks for the link, but it just goes to the you-tube front apoge... what should I be looking for?
LOL ... I suspected you weren't always Dutch.
nothing important mg..was just sending you a jerry lee louis clip;)
Well, seeing that I do have a sense of Geography, saying I used to be American means I could have been Canadian... or Mexican...
Thanks, I'l track it down!
IF you said you were North American
OK, true. Just American is Even Broader. So, I say USian.
can never be american.they deep fry oreos:/lol
so, just out of curiousity... where did you really grow up, MonkeyGee?
California. Santa Cruz half the year, San Diego the other half.
do they really, cross? isn't that blasphemous?
if it isnt,it should be:)
Dissing it is blasphemous, I think. America, love it or leave it, they say. And just WHERE am I?
and now you're in Holland... how did that happen?
we get dissed over poutine so...ce la vie;)
I left it
Political dissatisfaction 15 years ago. Been a long road, but here we are, Dutch citizens. Renouncing the US citizenship was fun. Walter was born Dutch.
thank you for making me laugh, cross.
mmm dutch chocolate...mmmmmm
np lady:)
i don't know why poutine is so bad
Despite what you may here, by the Blooker cocoa powder instead of the Droste.
laughter is the best medicine:)
sorry where are my manners... hi everyone
well then, you're set. holland is much better than the U.S. anyway (far as I'm concerned)
What the heck is poutine?
french fries with sauce and cheese
OMG! you don't know poutine?!
well I didn't before I moved here to quebec
No, we just put mayo on them.
poutine is a amazing concoction mg..you take perfectly good french fries, then cover them in tons of melted cheese then cover it all in steaming gravy
here it is the cheese curds
poutine: french fries with savoury gravy and semi-melted cheese curds (sometimes mozzarella, sometimes cheddar, sometimes both)....
That sounds just AWFULLY yummy. I will check it out after the next 23 kilos.
same here..can substitute and cheese type though
here you get a quizzical look
when your heart stutters..stop eating it immediatly
Me?
I just dreamed the other night about a "poutine baked potato" ... does anyone do that yet?
but because of the sauce base of flour I can't eat it
yes lady it called a stuffed potato;))
Do you have Celiac's (sp?)?
no
I can have oats and barley but just no wheat
That is an allergy to wheat so I wondered. I think you could base the gravy on non-gluten rice flour or on water chestnut flour, which I use a lot.
you can indeed mg
i am learning how to be CAnadian but I don't like hockely and I can't eat poutine... um man I am going to be a weak CAnadian
Water chestnut flour is the secret way Chinese restaurants get the sauce that silky texture.
just get hooked on bacon ,maple syrup and football then;))
yes I couldn't make it myself but it's not the same as yummy commercial junk food hee hee hee hee
OK, well, I don't like raw herring and don't care much about football.... Buttulips are nice.
raw herring would be hard to swallow (I could probably take pickled though)
You would think but now that I have been cooking for a while my friends would rather come here for Chinese than go to a restaurant.
like bacon and maple syrup not a big sports fan
Well, it is lightly piuckled... usually...
2 out of 3 aint bad eh?
then try fishing or nature phtography:)
crossy blows chunks at the thought of raw pickled herring:(
Yeah, tell me about it. Thing is, I can stand it kind of... except ALLLLL the small bones.
I like moose and beaver though and when I work a year here I will be moving west... Calgary I would prefer
anyways ladies, time for me to go hose down this mass of muscle and get to work:) tc all
bye cross!
man here :-)
sorry oodle....poof!
bbye
Have a god day, Cross! Stay well!
Was pretty sure about that, Oodle, but on the basis of zero info.
I'm outa here too... can't think straight for the headache I have. oodleberry, WELCOME. I like moose (never tried beaver). And Calgary stinks. Come to Edmonton.
is the reason why the netherlands speaks either dutch or english because it was an english colony?
Hang in there and nurse that headache, Lady! Nice chatting with you... Have as good a day as possible!
no no not to eat
that's too funny ok ok we WERE talking about food
It wasn't really. OK, William was English, but it's alays been kind of different here. No, Most Dutch people spoeak Duytch, French, English, and German.
We are the only place in Western Europe the Romans left. They came, they built forts, they described it as dismal and boggy, they left.
wow a very language friendly country... my kind of country
OK, House coming on! Bye!
ok who is left then
I'm here - just popped in!
midnight where you are asg?
lol ruru - some people can see it, but I can't either! If you click on my profile though, I think you can see Rinog
oops, Ringo
I just tried another update, still not showing for me.... :(
asg - I see your old family photo now... no longer a black box
Afternoon, all. Uh, AsGreen, is your dog black? Really black?
and BTW, just got back from my director's office... we were watching the say sara palin video
damn, missed her
hello
hi oodles
omg, YOU are kidding me!

I'm gonna try one more time.... brb
ok, now what do I have here?
I see a family pic
are you here or not, asg?
I'm on for about four minutes... I have missed all the details but think AsGreen has been having some sort of weird computer gremilin surrounding her icon today. Although I could have that wrong. I've been on very sporadically.
hi -- which say sarah palin video, kje?
Hey kje, potentially useful but you probably already know it.... A good friend of mine who walks his dog when I walk ours and tehy play is 78. He said his doctor has told him that playing sudoku can keep you sharper longer because it enocurages memory and performance at the same time. Anyway, House bak on, bye again folks!
hello everyone
bye monkey
Sorry, I'm here now... phone and drama
hi AS at last!
drama?
my recommendation - don't be a SAHM - too much drama between catty moms!
my chances of being a SAHM are negligible, lol
so and so wasn't invited to this bday party, and yada yada yada!
hoo boy
do you think I should reboot the computer?
hate the drama!
(re the black box)
here it is jilli...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7DIc8jd ra0o
kje -- aren't you talking to me? I asked you which say sarah palin you were watching
nah... it will straighten itself out eventually...
oops -- sorry -- crossed msgs
you just need to come up with a really cool reason you have a black box...
like... this empty box represents someone's brain... to remain nameless...
or this black box represents the debt the current administration has driven our economy into
or the black box represents my knowledge of the inner workings of an atom
ty kje -- I had seen that goodie -- thought you wrote SAY, not HEY!
I'm sorry - the phone again!! LOLOL
OK, asg... I will soon start taking this personally when everytime i am talking to you, you disappear... : )
kje, I'm here I'm here! but I have to soon!
you have to sson what?
go, that is
this black box represents asg's command of the neglish language
neglish? LOLOL
I'm not much good at neglish either
damn
that's funny
btw, I STILL have 81 left!!
thanks jilli!! ;)
i hate it when i can't type and it works against me
not me, I LOVE IT!!!
i was looking at the picks and trying to decide who in your family (including ringo) had the curliest hair - : )

there are very pretty women in hungary

the danube wasn't blue when i was there - there were chunks of ice floating down it
how cool, when was that, josh
hello everyone. how is today's grid?
I didn't know that...I thought you were on the trip of a lifetime! A virtual page is ok too though
LOL, dan.... nope... i left the country a few weeks ago along with some other babblers abdicating until W gets ousted... most have chosen an alternate country and are staying put, but I have decided to travel...
however, I will really be going away in december... counting the days
did you vo4 before you left?
I'm back - rebooted and all - how's my picture now??

****special shout out to Lickety**** (love lickety)
actually kinda black and yucky
woot woot for lickety
three cheers for Lickety!!!
that was a week before my camera and all its contents were stolen in barcelona - i had stashed that video and a few others in an email account to save space on the memory card
i had my bag stolen once in antibes, josh... quite the adventure... my fave was discussing the TV show Dallas with the cops at the police station... they kept impersonating JR.. and this was just a few years ago, so i guess that show is still shown over there... egads
Pretty please, a clue for my last word SO6/24 ?
brb...couriers here (3 at once!)
it's a french spelling, lizmac
with the two letter equivalent of the spanish and italian ñ
similar to the el liz
Thank you, I think I've got it now.

Yep, that's the one..fireworks!

my daughter's gymnastics that is!!!
asg, she looks so much like you... does she look like your kid pics
since it was the cool thing to do, i went and changed my icon as well
omg, y... we have an old b&w of me in a bathing suit when I was about 5 or so, and one day she was looking at it closely and said, "huh, I don't remember that suit"!
she also has my personality.... lol
LOL... weird thing is that she will now have a memery like that...
and that personality thing is just scary : )
yes, i know it is memory... please do not correct me... i cannot type
but, she is MUCH smarter than I am. No kidding. I was always a big reader, but she is placing into advanced math, advanced spelling, etc.
I let that one slide, you must be tired my friend!!
very cool asg....
and there's the fireworks
woohoo josh
wtg Josh!!
yes, tird, but mostly just can't type
I have a whole theory, but, it's boring.... and besides, I'd like to get some words in before having to scoot out... oh, and don't worry, I never say "I hated math" - my kids are under the misconception that I am very smart! :)
lol - tird
theory about what? why she is smart?

good evening everyone. how was everyones day?
most excellent, thank you. Beautiful fall day in New England. Spent lots of it in the woods with Biscuit
sound perfect!! did you have apple cider?
I sure did. It was sweet!
wow quintessential day!
Can't ask for better. Cold, November weather will be here soon and I want to take advantage of it. After the romp in the woods, I baked a pumpkin sour cream bread
hi, everyone, enjoying that day in the woods vicariously, bichon -
Still hot hot hot here.
Retirement is wonderful. The economic signs say no, the heart says yes
Where are you red, in FL?
we have beautiful fall weather here too, around 50 degrees today, leaves are beautiful, but of course when you're just looking out the window at the trees
Hi JBV.
I am right outside of Orlando, working in East Orlando.
hi, red
How are you and Hubby JBV?
I really need to have fall and spring, not just warmer and cooler. The sacrifice is winter
I'm liking it a lot, I hate winter so much. It is colder here now, but not like up north.
thanks for asking red - we are in the middle of what looks like another ordeal for him, right now still making the rounds of doctors to get the right diagnosis and course of treatment, but he will be facing another surgery soon
Oh No. How is he holding up through that? How are you holidng up? I always get exhausted from any MD visits.
it is very stressful - just making the appointments, getting the referrals and dealing with the insurance is a headache, then the endless tests, then the news that the doctors are giving us...
oh, and did I mention that I am also doing nursing duty at home? (that's why I said a while back that I praise and celebrate nurses who make their living this way - I have the highest admiration for nurses)
do you have confidence in the doctors?
well, you've hit on another source of stress, red, - we're seeing so many and nobody is really sure what to do - it's very complex..
is there a good med center that you are using?
my husband is very private and most of our friends and even family don't know what he is going through so thank you, babble friends, for being there for me
the docs should do a conference tpgesther with you
yes, Robert Wood Johnson Medical Center, New Brunswick, NJ
ask for something like a family conference...
thanks for mentioning that, so far they say they are talking to each other, but we have not had a conference together
That's Rutgers, right?
it usyally for really sick people in icu, but they should all get on same page.
bichon, Rutgers is in New Brunswick but it's not associated with the Medical Center
You might also ask for a "social work" consult which will horrify your husband, you dont need Social work perse, but the ones employed by the hospitals are really helpful at navigating things.
Are there specialist there who work on whatever is your hubby's ailment?
I've spoken with lots of social workers regarding my mother's cancer. They've been helpful
sounds like you know him, red, :) (or his type, at least) - he doesn't even like having the visiting nurse come once a day but we need her to do dressing changes while i'm at work
I agree, bichon, these are good suggestions, I will work on him to agree
remind him JBV that in this economy the nurse needs a job, and she probably looks forward to seeing him since he is not a winey butt.
I moved Mom up to CT from FL. The doctors in her area were clueless. They wanted to perform surgery on the tumor without even delving into her cardiac problems
right! actually he's enjoying their conversations - seems she's a rabid Obama fan!
after much experience, my husband has come to the conclusion that "surgeons surge" - meaning it's their job to cut, so that's what they do
*grumble grumble*
hi, hurshy, i've been grumbling too, so join the club
Surgeons indeed do surge, your husband is so right.
But if you can sell the SW as a navigator or concierge if you will, it could help.
without revealing too much (in deference to hubby's wishes) - his case involves a colo-rectal surgeon, urologist, orthopedic surgeon (for osteomyelitis)
JBV is your Husband for McCain?
oh, no - he is for Obama, so they are of like mind
i ordered some large items to be delivered to the office. i told them the address of our building. somehow they instead delivered it to yale's central receiving, even though that's not what's done, ever. some dunderhead signed for it, without wondering "hmm, this is large and heavy, perhaps i should send the fellow to deliver it where it needs to go" AND without notifying me, the actual recipient, that he HAD signed for it.
red, how do I go about contacting the social worker , do I have to wait until he is a patient in the hospital?
excellent. I had a patient ask me if I was an Obama girl or a McCain girl... I was afraid to answer!
I dont think so JBV. he's got an ongoing relationship.
The social worker came to see us when we were at the Cancer Center seeing the radiation therapist and Thoracic Surgeon for the first times
You have a few options. Call the Hospital Operator and ask to speak to Social Work... or Ding ding, bright idea, call and ask if he has a Case Manager- which is a Nurse who reviews charts and makes sure pt meet criteria etc...either one is a good resource...
I used to be a case worker, so I was really open to it. It think the social workers really want to do everything they can to make the experience less burdensome
Or you can call the office...of the one he sees the most.
and they will point you in the right direction. Its a lot to deal with, and I think your huband would rather involve generic hospital people than say, your neighbour or pastor...
that sounds good - no one here has mentioned it all, though. thanks for all your info
SOmetimes you have to ask for a little help with stuff...
you are so right, red - I have been thinking that I also need to talk to someone just for myself - without letting him know how worried and stressed out I am, too
Yes JBV....especially with the caregiving you are now doing, which is not what your "signed up for"
red, I have learned more than I ever wanted to know about wound care - but I know he would walk through hell for me, so we are in this together
Well, wound care is not my favorite thing, so I can empathize a bit with you!
I also learned that there are nurses who specialize in wound care - how do people make such a decision?
My Aunt did it. I don't know, but often the opportunity comes with greater pay better hours etc...
but my aunt is a horrible little woman.
oh, there goes my theory about nurses as angels LOL
I guess there are all kinds in every profession
I had a conversation today with my co-workers about some teachers we know who really don't seem to like children -
hey & hugggggggsssssssss y'all
hi nance
back to solving - I need 73 words
is the grid friendly or mean today?
some strange words here, nance and it's slow going for me
Oh JBV, we are regular people. I am sometimes completely indifferent to my patients, they get cared for...but...I wouldnt remember them 2 hours later.
it is a horrible grid
well that means slow going for me also
Hi Squid....it's a so-so grid in my opinion. started off fast but got slow quick.
but for the most part, I find people interesting. so I usually end up talking to them and asking a bunch of questions...
lol red
ok - i'm going in
*sigh* 72 left and it's like pulling teeth
red, do you have a specialty in nursing - I mean, do you always work in one department of a hospital?
I do JBV, I am only an Emergency/Trauma Nurse. i actually dont know how to do anything else.
and how did you choose that, if I may ask?
only? trauma nurses deal with people at their lowest and at their worst, you are NOT only a trauma nurse to some people you are their saviour
I have 70 left Monkey, and Hello!!!
TY katya.
ditto, katya
I started working as an aide in an ED and then after that I foudn anywhere else was boring. We get to see and do all sorts of cool stuff...
why isn't "assie" a word
though it can be too busy. I just started my new contract this week and I will be seeing the dept tomorro and I am nervous...its a really busy place.
and I guess every day is different, since you never know what is going to come in next
Yes, I never really know what my day will be like..I am rarely bored. heck, some days I can't go to the bathroom.
I have a high stress job, too, but fortunately it does not involve life and death crises
Most of the time, my job involves people who have abdominal pain, luckily. :)
also good my job does not depend on my solving this grid. Eeek!
Monkey do you have the go** dancers???
yes, red :O
there are some people who actually work on the grid while they are at work! I do a few minutes in the a.m., then come back in the evening to finish
eg 7?
I used to do that at one hospital which was not very busy...
I have no 7's yet.
i'm on the road, so i can't Babble during the day
iles is a word isn't it?
in french, nance :)
evidentlynot
how about fa 6?
lol ^ hey lil
Hi Nance

oh, never mind - found it -
fa6 is a rude word for a gay man
lol - my cousins used to sing a song "hey nance, where's you pants
Or a kind of wooden stick for fire the fa 6 TY I thought it was a phantom
*singing loudly* Hey nance, drop your pants!
ut o - no dropping of the pants here - lol
I thought the FA 6 was a cigarette
phand, i think Brits use the first 3 letters as slang for a cig
that's what my dad called cigs
the 4 letter word that is
heres the more words def thats less offensive.
A bundle of twigs, sticks, or branches bound together. A bundle of pieces of iron or steel to be welded or hammered into bars.
this grid feels like the letters are all in the wrong places.
i'll second that emotion
clues for top left E please?

ciao, red
hi, pini
cute icon pini
why isn't "figgie" a word? As in Figgie Pudding
Thanks (I forgot to change it back after the visitor.)
hey pini
hiya smiles
same reason noogie isn't
hey, peeps
monk, in the lyrics for the Xmas song, it's spelled figgy
Brings us some figgy pudding, oh bring us some figgy pudding
and bring it right now!
I just came in to load my word list. I'm late starting dinner, and gotta cook it tonite, seeing as I decided I wanted a fish sammich

add vowel to previous lo4
ol5, clues?
oy
smiles...are those h**** in your socks?
ol5 - spanish cheer + most of hard water
thx kje!
1st vo4/7?
vo+ 2 letter plural ending
TY, kje!
yw
like more than 1 "vo" ?
scrolling back sure helps getting clues -- hi all!
sorry... popping in and out... reading about karen quinlan
and thanks, kje :)
hi jillibus
what about her, kje
hi, jilli
case review...
waiting to hear about poor karen
do tell, kje!!!
can google her if interested jilli... was one of the early cases that set law re: right to die
ahhhh, kje... tough case....
I remember the case, kje -- but what about the review?
i teach ethics, jilli, so just reviewing it for a session with my students
there was an ALS case here a few years ago
assisted suicide denied but done anyway
is there a G in th vo5?
VO5...that was/still is hair goop!
as6,24 please?
as I remember -- wish I could remember the name -- a wonderful courageous woman
when I was in High School, someone from NYC medical school came to talk us... He was asked about college and what to major in, Kje. He said history and english---medicine was about making decisions and ethics and doctors need context and enhanced thought. The science can be had in Med school. This was some 30 years ago, and I remember it, 8-)
it is interesting, pam... i think these issues were more of a dilemma for docs before me... even in medschool we already had cases re: right to die, so we "grew up" in the environment where obeying a pt's wishes was common... so the students are like... duh, of course she should be able to refuse treatment
as + si4
thx kje
McGill also stressed a rounded education before Med school back in the 40s
hard to get a good debate going in class when no one will disagree... damn it - LOL
kje, get Sarah to join the class
kajee i can't find that as6 , i guess i don't have the correct si4
brb
ca6, clues? i have the one that is a watercraft.
lil* = is the 1st half of a classroom homework as****ment
as+ a billboard or ****
omg, i'm such a retard!
thank you for the "Barbie" clues
trans, think Pachelbel
(since y'all are talking about school) =)
other ca6 is a plural of the previous ca5
ek???
brb
ek** out a living
ok, i need a ca6 that is not a plural.
there isn't one, smiles!
both ca6 s are plurals
I think we should start calling them Palin clues
LOl, kje that is interesting.... no religious rightists from any religous persuasion arguing with you?
there are only 2 ca6 thery are both plural
lol kje
smiles, the 2nd ca6 is a pl of the word before the ca8
ugh, ca6 was plural, just totally missed the obvious!
ca8?
trans have you been sniffing the oven cleaner dear?
I'm in dallas... it is a pretty religious group... but they just accept this... very small part of the right to life group actually think it applies in end-of-life care... and obvious exclusions for death penalty... seems mostly focused on abortion unless they are catholic
thanks for heads up pini!, monkey, pug, and all who helped!
ca8 -- a female ca5
LOL pug... *passes trans guy some Coke bottle glasses*
pam...ca5 + princ*** (ending)
hmmmmmm, thanks, kje
ends like Scotish Loch
any help on the ek?
and don't get me started about docs no longer performing abortions...
ooops scottish
or is it a fish?
don't think I have the ca5 that gets the Loch ending
all docs are not required to, pam
ek** out a living
tin food container + not off
UGH!!! I was going the wrong way!
I know, kje, but there aren't enough who will in many states....
thanks, pug!
actually, docs don't have to do anything they feel morally opposed to... including withdrawal of treatment... but do have to hand off the case to someone willing to follow the patient's wishes
and pharmacists don't have to dispense the pill or the morning after pill
ahhhhhhhh, kids are in bed
that's as it should be
hi As
phantom: Ensign
maybe wyoming or someplace, pam... but i have never been anywhere there has been a shortage
hi EVERYONE! I will really try to focus and not ignore anyone for the next five minutes or so! :)
SD has one doc, and that doc is often threatened, women travel out of state...
ooooh, what did I walk in on NOW?
I am not trying to be combative, kje, and I respect that docs have that right, I agree with it, it's just that sometimes, there isn't a doc to step in and step up...
Hi, asg
Today's episode is "Doc Talk" =)
ac5 is a pl? never heard it pl...
I can't believe it's 9:30 already.... way too late for kiddos' bedtime...

debating: tea? or wine? It IS Thursday, but I'm exhausted and still "fighting" (losing?) this cold
puggie...I'm not getting the el7 :(
hmmmm
tea with a little touch of something in it?
pini - similar to the so6
wait, are you guys using the list? then you'll finish for sure.... kje did it in, like, 5 seconds flat!
i'd say wine, but that's cause I can't drink for another three days... meds 8-(
Sniffle...I don't have the so6 yet
kje is a word guru, asg!
not that the day of the week usually has any impact on my decision
no7 ? clue please?
sometimes i think my grid is different from everyone elses'
pini I reclued at 8:40

I'm going for tea - yes it's a shocker to me too
lol mab
LOL mab
I know, pug...I'm still trying...

;)
no7 is a plural of the no6

yep
not WAY young : )

you've reached the big 4-0 asg... so stop pretending!
I'm sick of this grid

pam - the far right drap (more medial drape) has a rifle hidden in it that falls out of you shake it
and you are..........

12
hi jacula... ;)
I'm monkeying my way to the end tonight!!! My monkeys are doing great!
how are you?
Hi Pink. Keep going, I don't want to interrupt your word finding roll.
I'm fine, thanks. Been out tonight and then cooking for our holiday until now.
* perk * Holiday? which one?
11
Our late 'summer' holiday at half-term. LOL. Going to North Devon (Westward Ho!) again.
* giggle * a big celebration?
Only baked goods I've been making - cereal bars, flapjacks, Devil's Food Cake. I've spoiled my family and step family re buying shop cakes etc. They all prefer home-made.
se 5/10, 14. the ones at the bottom of the se's.
No celebration, Pink, just a holiday.
how fun, jacula!
se5/10 = se + dbl cons + vowel
trans - se5.10 = another way of spelling 'to grab or grasp'.
se5/14 following = currency of the Congo. se + consonant + USA soldier.
pini, got that one
10
sorry, smiles...
following se5/10 = red hair dye.
9
hi all...been lurking...down to last word na7...any clues?
Hi Pav.
na7 = many mrs regans
na7 = more than one Mrs. Reagan.
so much for my spelling
(must be the monkeys)
Yeah, they skipped the first 'a', pink.
8
I know...*sigh*...it's been awhile since I've written the word ;)
LOL
7
vo5?
It's a brand of medicated shampoo. LOL
vofive is not in the grid! lol
Seriously, vo5 = 'in fashion' word with different penultimate vowel.
I don't understand?...why that word...is it a word? well fa6 shouldn't be a word...and neither should na7..this was not a kind grid today....
great clue! thx!
6
Hi y'all....do need fa6-39 please? Thanks
It's a Scottish word with varous meanings. Can be proud or can be merry.
fa = british cigarette + he *** served
hi Peach..it's the f word that Hollywood doesn't tolerate...and neither should we...
5
fa6/39 has many meanings in UK - meatball, piece of small firewood, homosexual to name but a few.
weel I guess Babble is mostly English?
Thank all. and yes, PAV, I agree with you.
off to find a unicorn...more peace in the world...food...
new clue, se 5/10 that doesn't have double cons
fa6/39 is also a bundle of iron bars and a type of needlework.
se5/10 rhymes with red hair dye he word. It's a laxative pod.
that is i need a nw clue for that SE!
we have that SE! the other one!
please!
PAV - I don't see how it's mostly English when it uses and American dictionary. Having said that, the dictionary is very loose about allowed words in many languages: English, French, Scottish, Spanish to name but a few.
se5/10 I clued is the only one with a doubled consonant in the middle.
yes, jac, do you have the other se 5/10?
The se words (the 5's) are se5/14, se5/10, se5/14, se5/10.
se + alt spelling of frozen water
Yes, I clued it for you - another spelling for 'to grab or to grasp'.
i need the se 5/10 before the second 5/14
No pink.
Or maybe.
ty, jac
transition..extend the se4 4 preceding it
If you grab power, you se* (high point tile)* it.
Glad you got it, trans.
Pink - what's your word countdown now?
5
yeah, Jac..just murmuring...if we teach and spread tolerance to all sorts of folks who aren't in the mainstream anywhere, and who don't cause harm to others, we can eliminate the derogatory words from any vocabulary and dictionary...IMHO
True, Pav, but the fa word isn't derogatory in most cases in English.
Hi all again -- I've changed my icon to Herin's b'day because it's already tomorrow in Oz :)
hello all, looks like to many to even start tonight...
hello jill! ((((hugs))))
It's a word, like 'gay', that's been hi-jacked for other purposes.
hi stiddy at last!
hi stid..
hi jilli
did I miss pav when he came in?
if so, hi!
Hi Jilli. Glad to see you. Our Scrabulous e-mail games are now up and running again on Lexulous but it's your turn in both.
Hi Stid.
1st so6/24
fa6/39 is one of a bunle of sticks for kindling :)
Oh, I just saw this ca8-45, anyone have a clue please?
yep...and it all starts here. I can't/won't apologize for the Americans who began such stuff...
(I play on lexulous, too)!
jill, I like the saying in your profile today
jac -- how do I get to Lexulous?
lexulous.com ;)
Hi Pini...nah, I can't be missed when I entger a room...even a chat room! although I may have been distracted by some offensive language ion the grid, but that's just be bein the prude...
(sorry for butting in)
Jilli - didn't I send you the link?
np pav ;)
ty pini -- I don't think so, jac -- you meant to, but it didn't arrive
ca8/45 is a female c5/12 (Church official that sounds like a ball-firing weapon).
go pini go!!!!
Jilli - I'll go and get it.
so6/24?
brb -- going to find lexulous...
(I am trying to multitask, but will stay until you finish)

Sign in just as you did into Scrabulous. You should get our games then.
* whimper * no clue???
HI Jilli...shall we send Jac to the PB? Pini, a variant of Jac's errantg word...so6
so6/24 = elegant/well-groomed. Sounds like regal bird plus US cry of glee.
Oops, sorry for posting a word.
finally!!!
4
fo6/27?
Thanks Jacula, have the first part of ca8 but can't seeme to get the last...
ga, add princ*** and the pea
well off to reheat food...fo6 = pl of fo5
I don't have the 5 yet
The last 4 letters of the word, gap, are the name of a Scottish loch and the monster in it.
*shaking pompoms for pini*
just to confirm, there are 6 so4, yes?
old fo5 = old man..curmudgeon
Thanks, Jacula, got it now.
got those, pav..I need the last ones
yes, 6 x so4
you mean Bob Fo6..the dance guru, now deceased?
fo6/27 is a living thing petrified in rock.
so6, clues?
Bob died?
who's Bob?
I, sorry that was fo5 ...and the fo6 arfe those really old bones that are found on digs...usually embedded into rock or stone...
The fo4 and 5 precede it, sort of. The fo5 is the name of a Roman Way (road) here in UK.

I have 27 to go -- again, lack of time. Thought I had a free day but then a blind friend needed stuff read to her.
Jilli - glad you found them again. I may not be able to continue after Friday as we're off on holiday for a week the day after. No internet.
jac, I can wait :) Have a good hol.
get it, smiles?
jilli...you can do it!
Jilli - happens to me all the time, too. I plan a day and then things crop up - that's why I was cooking for the holiday (vacation) tonight till 3am!
Well, if we don't see you manana Jac, enjoy your holiday! I'm off to eat some leftovers....
tc pav
how many left, smiles?
cooking? That's no holiday!
I'm off to watch the comedy musical 'Vampires Rock' tonight. Just like The Rocky Horror Show, the audience is expected to dress the part. Since I've been up until dawn I should look fairly hollow-eyed and undead by this evening.
have a great time, jac!!!!
Jilli - it will be a holiday because the cooking's all been done beforehand.
I will pink.
brb = getting puppy
so5, it's my last word. of couse all so5's are worth 10. it's the so5 that is next to another so5. go ahead and clue both i'll be able to pick out the right one.

Minus last letter.
Well done, trans.
thanks!
going off to do email now!
YAY transition guy!
and um... YAY pini! (was off trying to find something)
does anyone have a clue for the NA 7 pls
now I am logging out because I have to focus on stuff. *grumpy mama face* going back to school doesn't feel like a good idea tonight *poof*
...Anyway, there i was earlier today, clad from shoulder to toes in clingy black velvet, sporting 5 leather Goth studded wristbands and a silver skull bracelet, black fishnet tights, black crucifix and red cut-throat beads. I hadn't even got as far as doing the red and black eye make-up and the blood red lipstick bit, not to mention painting my talons black and blood red... then my Mum phoned. LOL. I was trying my costume for tonight out.
na7 = more than one Mrs. Reagan.
thnx, Jac
y/w Phan.
All I face now is keeping Beloved (still recovering from his op) in check when he sees me in my Vamp outfit. LOL
May I please have a clue for lo6-30? Thanks
ok...back
lo6/30 = wood + ** Joe + vowel
hi phan
lo6/30 is an Italian word for a place open on one side at the least.
Thanks y'all
Sounds like a cosy sort of word for 'a woody'. LOL
I think I'm off to play srabble...bbiab
Did I mention that the doorbell also rang when I was in my vamp outfit? I didn not answer; it was only a rep. from some firm or other.
Have I cleared the chatlog? Oh LOL.
hey, peeps
Hello tyger. How are you doing with the grid?
I finished several hours ago, a bit late for dinner as a result
Aw, happens to us all at times, Tyger.
and how are you this AM (your time)? :)
well, I just finished, now I am off to bed
sweet dreams, phan
thanks
especially as I'd decided that I wanted a fish sammitch, which I had to cook; couldn't nuke
so it was nearly 9pm my time - between 60 & 90 minutes later than I like to eat
I don't have a rigid schedule :D
Anyway, I seem to have offended some partsof USA with my chat about my dressing up for tonight's show. I'm fine, tyger. We're off on hol on Saturday but have a couple of nights out in between, so I've been busy until the early hours. How about you? What have you been up to?
tonite's show??
I caught your description of what sounded like a Mrs. Addams costume, I thought?
A show me and Beloved are off to see later, Tyger. A comedy rock horror called 'Vampires Rock'.
I'm not easily offended, if you were wondering, even if I am rather conservative (by the standards of many Babblers, it would seem)
Ah. and you're dressing up, much as people do to go see the Rocky Horror Show?
Exactly, tyger, and I did say that before in the chog.
if you and I are the only ones here, I may tell you the Halloween joke my son told me the other day. It's offensive 2 different ways - to the PC, and to many Xians
However, apart from the fishy sandwich, what else have you been doing, Tyger?
Yes, you may tell it to me, Tyger.
not much, jac. I can't legally drive right now. When I went in last month to renew my license, they said because I use a walker, I have to prove my competence to drive. I have a driving test (FINALLY) next Monday
I've been very frustrated, and rather upset, even though I don't do much driving
it's the whole idea. What does a walker have to do with my brain or my reflexes? (rhetorical, of course)
I've yet to see or even hear of an Alzheimer's patient who wasn't physically healthy :(
I'm not sure, to be honest, Tyger. I stopped driving about 10 years ago when I realised I din't enjoy it in urban areas.
I prefer not to drive in the city, but I don't live in the city
You have Alzheimer's, Tyger?
no, of course not! LOL
but the point is, they're not using a good screening method
well you could meet new people everyday..that way
hey, ruru
LOL, Tyger.
I meant LOL, ruru. Sorry.,
hey to
Black humour abounds in the families of Alzheimer victims.
old joke sorry..
As it does in the victims of many mental illnesses, i.e. anorexia etc.
my aunt (father's sister) had it, but Aunt Eileene had a rather difficult life, and was ... how shall I put it? ... a wounded soul
It is kind of a risky joke area nowadays
we have a few friends that have suffered from it...
it is a horrible disease.
Ruru - Not amongst those who have been through it, it's not. Unless they're very 'precious'.
I've had a difficult life, but I think I'm fairly well integrated, emotionally, and don't feel like a victim
you are one cool soul TO..
oh, I agree, ruru. first time I visited my aunt (after I reconnected with family), the only thing I recognized was her eyes - and her kids had stopped visiting her
If you can't laugh, then all is lost.
I hear you jac.. so true..
who, ruru?
I joke about everything and find myself on thin ice from time to time
who about what TO?
you're addressing me as TO??
Ooops mean tyger.. so used to Temple owl..
thx for the compliment, then :)
I think I'd better type the joke into a text editor, so I can paste it in here. I warn you; this is NOT the kind of joke you'll expect an "evangelical Christian" - much less a Pentecostal - but I'm a strange person, no doubt
When my friend's brother was dying after his 2nd brain haemorraghe about 3 weeks ago, she looked at him in his hospital bed, in his white surgical stockings and said, 'Oh, Robert! You look so sexy in those stockings.' He then stuck his foot up her nose and she protested. He then replied, 'At leat my feet don't stink like yours do!' Those were their last sibling words.
it's true ... you are one cool person...
wow, thanks awfully! :D
weird jac..not what I would do...
lemme type the joke. this will probably take a couple of minutes. it's not a short one
ok
Not weird at all, if you knew them, ruru.
My brother and I have a weird relationship...
But I wouldn't shove my foot in his nose..lol
in his arse maybe but not the nasal passage..
***waiting for TYGER's joke ***
I'm an only child (a surviving twin) but, had my brother survived, I would most definitel have shoved my foot up his nostrils. LOL
died at birth or later?
my mom was an identical twin..
He deserves it now for sitting on my shoulder all my life!
Died before birth.
hmmm like a little angel...
Angel? No!
Finished, thanks to morewords. Not a nice grid.
He wants to be naughty. He's still a baby after all.
hmmm...do you talk?
Well done jilli. I thought it was a nice grid.
yAY jilli..
I didn't care for this grid either.
hi all, also waiting for tyger's joke, hi jilli and congrats, hi ruru and jacula
what is your icon jilli?
help...eg7
hey crpw...long time no see...
Hi crp.
jac, you're much better than I am at gridding. I lost patience -- lack of time. Too many weird words.
must be a fairly long joke
yeah, been really busy, just started a small business out of my home
eg 7 without conceit
ruru, I stole it from herin -- her kitty eating her toe.
Hi june (my Mum's name). without self-awareness is the word you seek.
thanks
el (both)
im so nearly done - just got a few that stumped me
or kissing her toe -- click on it, ruru
hi june
there is a few odd words tonight
I'm back, but I dunno if I better paste in the joke.
do it
el words sound like e + sexy male upper thigh department that they 'gird' to go into battle, and plural.
been waiting for this
hi tyger -- did you get my email reply?
hi crp
the joke, crpw?
june el 6 e+ cut of meat with a g in the middle
yes
hey, jilli - haven't checked my email in the last couple of hours. I will right now.
sexy upper thigh..love it jac...
nope, jilli. not in my email - not the one where they've blocked you before :(
Well it is, ruru. How else could I describe it?
dunno
thanks...thats an interesting description
june, I have a very non-PC, and not very nice language Halloween joke. Would you be offended?
see what I mean?
There you go then, ruru. LOL
bring it on tyger.. we are all adults...
not at all
June got the clue, too. LOL
I sent a reply to yours so it should go through -- no bounce back to me either yet though
drum roll
8** waiting ***
I wouldn't want to offend another Christian who might see things differently
waiting with bated (baited?) breath, tyger...
Also still waiting for the joke
jeezus send the joke will ya
LOL, jilli
wheres this joke then??
okay, installments - it's LOOONG
lol
Fer Christ's sake Tyger just post the joke.
i think the joke is on us
this joke refers to a speech impediment as "tongue tied" The mother asked the son, "How would you like to be a piwate for Halloween?" The son responded, "That would be gweat, mom" So the mother cut off a pair of man's slacks, and made the costume. On Halloween, he went out with a bunch of his friends. When they got to the first house, he knocked and said "Twick ow Tweat"
gogogo tyger
The lady came to the door, and said, "Oh, my! I see ghosts, and goblins and Spiderman, and ... What are you, son?" to the little boy. "I'm a piwate" "A parrot?" "No, I'm a piwate" "Oh, a PIRATE! That's nice."
They went to the next house, and rang the doorbell, and he said "Twick ow Tweat". The lady came to the door, and said, "Wow, I see a princess, and Spiderman, and Superman, and a ghost, and ... What are you, son?" to the little boy. :sigh: "I'm a piwate" "A parrot?" "No, I'm a piwate" "Oh, I see, a PIRATE!"
They went to the next house, and rang the doorbell, and he said "Twick ow Tweat". The lady came to the door, and said, "Hello! I see a vampire, and a pricess, and Superman, and Spiderman, and ... What are you, young man?" to the boy. :SIGH: "I'm a piwate" "A parrot?" "No, I'm a PIWATE" "Oh, I see, a PIRATE! Where are your buccaneers?" "They're on the sides of my buckinhead"
LOL tyger!!!
hehe
lol tyger
How was that offensive?
right - now some serious business en6 and en7
Not LolLING 'cos heard it before.
that qualifies as cute tyger..
I didn't want to laugh when I heard it, but I nearly choked, and laughed for 10 minutes, I swear
honi soit qui mal y pense
very good tyger, i had my laugh for the night
It's offensive to people who are PC because of the description of someone with a speech impediment
fireworks
Well, I didn't find it THAT funny, I must admit. But it's not offensive.
oh bah
PC is big around here..
thanks for your help
yea for june
it's offensive to many Christians because of the WORD, even though it's not correctly pronounced
yay, june
It is no longer SNow White and the Seven Dwarves in the theaters..
It is A woman of no colour and seven vertically challenged individuaals
if I hadn't been trying NOT to laugh, I probably wouldn't have laughed nearly as long
but I was trying SO hard not to laugh :P
sigh, ruru
oh, gawd, ruru
PC should go.... no I won't go there with the 'eff' word and itself. But it should. Who pays these idits to look for all these so-called insults?
you don't have to pay them at all.. they live for it
and even if I were telling it instead of typing it, I'm not NEARLY as good at telling a joke as my son is :(
my friend just had to go to a seminar for PC due to using the word "blackout" at work. go figure
it has to be heard, not read to be really appreciated
really, crpw? that's incredibly imbecilic
would afro-out be better?
where does your friend work??
ROFL, ruru
I'm of the generation which told hilarious non-PC jokes but didn't mean a word of them
no, make that ROFLMAO
I'm still laughing
i know, its only gets worse, a small computer company, nothing major
dear sweet God, what's wrong with those folks???
that reminds me of a Brit friend of mine
If someone doesn't tread on the over-sensitive fools they have employed to make the world 'PC' we may all got mad soon and either murder them or zing off into space to find somewhere else to live.
whatever happened to everyone's sense of humor?
*** RIP... A politically correct individual murdered for just not getting it ***
tyger, do you have Photoshop Elements or the full one?
he works for a company based near Boston. He was telling a young american woman that a vehicle he was renting would be picked up by a colleague of his, a black Brit. the young woman kept trying to "correct" him to afro-american. He said "he's British. how can he be afro-american??"
I have Elements, but I"ve never installed it
she never "got it"
If you have, there's an easier way of unsquishing photos for icons
You're not allowed to smoke, you soon won't be allowed to drink (Prohibition again). Before you know it, sex will be disallowed 'except for the purpose of procreating - only one child per couple allowed, as in China), then the clean air tax will kick in...
I don't doubt it, jilli. I was just giving directions that could be used by anybody, regardless of what other software they do or don't have
I still don't see what's wrong with Negro, and I guess that's ok with the NAACP too.
I think James told that story to all his american friends - and he has tons of us
what if you are sterile and just want to go through the motions?
he was incredulous (understandably)
then you would still be taxed ruru
Not sure I like negro or nigger or any derogatory term..
I would pay that tax... what
I use black, and if somebody want'
is the reate?
oops - wants to fight about it, let 'em come on
Negro is not derogatory.
I use black too...
Brown is more like it.
But I use black.
jilli so 60's... you are hipper than that...
mostly, you're right, jilli, but I've seen a few blacks who are quite literally black
I have too, usually real Africans
some of them have the "blue gums" too
I'm speaking of american blacks, tho
black is fine, negro is fine, white is fine, caucasian is fine, its when you get into things like the N word or redneck that is not good
most Africans aren't really all that "black"
yep
Negro defines a race, 'nigger' was a derogatrory form, but has been and was once taken up by the very people it was meant to demean.
right on, jac
yeah but say it as a white person and watch out
except they don't want anybody not black to use it
I can usually get a "pass" because of being Indian, even if I look white (superficially)
I watched a 'Who Do You Think You Are?' programme in a family roots series not long ago. The celebrity black chef in that found out he was both black and white. One side of his family were slaves and then 'free persons' and the other, were slavers.
bb in a bit...
when I was 8 and at a swish boarding school in England, the girls found out I'd been born in China so chanted "Chinky chinky Chinaman, sitting on a fence..." then something about having no sense -- I thought they were a bunch of idiots.
well, folks, it's gotten later than I'd planned to stick around. gotta go take a pill. nytol
jac, I think that applies to most American blacks from way back, doesn't it?
night tyger
night tyger -- let me know about that email!
definitely, jilli - either they have white or Indian ancestors in there somewhere
*poof*
back to get 62 words!! had to fill in at hubby's bridge class tonight
Who can say who is 'black' or 'white', at the risk of sounding like that brilliant dancer, Michael Jackson, right now? The further you trace back your family roots the more of a mongrel you realise you are. And wasn't the root of all life supposed to have begun in Africa? Isn't that why when we go to Africa, it gets into our blood?
