Oh I know what you mean Gwen, I am itching to do that too, however did get a great buzz recently as took some items I wanted to get rid of and visited some antique fairs etc and got some really good deals selling to people that had stalls there. Best day was when I came out with £205 for 3 items :D
I have a great lid-remover called a Top-off, given to my mother in the 40s. It has a sort of ratchet action, never fails. My patent lawyer uncle was given some by the inventor.

I was just looking over my "collection" of creative condition grades found in the descriptions of amateur book sellers . . . example: 90% of pages are clean and unmarked.
"Dust jacket is made from pieces of dust jacket pasted to color stock -- looks good."
"Textbook is in mint condition with mild highlighting"
the other day I got an amazon feedback that said the book was in really good condition for its age.
. . . and so on. Makes we wonder how they could read a book without having any brains

The Flathead reservation has both Salish and Kootenai tribes. I think both tribes were in western Montana, the Idaho panhandle, and southern Alberta
Like I said, I really should know these things....
Salish is a West Coast tribe - Washington (maybe Oregon) coasts north almost to Alaska - but never inland.

Flathead is the euro description of one of the tribes, they never called themselves that
Yes, Kootenai get into that area all right. I wonder if it isn't a language with its own name that sounds like Salish. But it's hard to google specific native languages!

they are usually quite old! A few years ago someone translated Bambi into Salish.

There's a lot of movement - actually always was, with intermarriage, especially since some of these tribes are matrilineal and some patrilineal and families used to move back and forth.
And if you wanted to marry into another tribe, a Coastal one would be a good one to pick - potlatches definitely worth it.
helens, you sound quite knowledgeable about the tribes in the NW US. Do you live there and are you a Native American?
