Timmy is undergoing a bone marrow transplant in an effort to beat his cancer. Sabrina + Ben are doing well. Mary's kids (the oldest 2, ages 5 and almost 9) are struggling a bit more--more realization that mary is really gone. I too am sad as we approach 1 yr since her death. I miss her so much.
Will say a special prayer for Timmy. So very sad about your friend Mary. She is missed by so many.
Mary would be so proud of her kids. The little one, 23 mo, is talking so well, very advanced, and she pooped on the potty Tuesday!

hello Fellow Babblers. Ata, a *human* BUN of 115 means dialysis; don't know what it is for a cat though
that is not that bad ata.. we've had higher numbers.. but it is renal weakness
her normal BUNs were about 30 a year or so ago, now she's hovering between 80 and 115, poor baby, with creatinine of 9
poor cat! :-(

she's on Hill's k/d at the moment, and seems to like that, so that's good. and she's gaining weight on it, which is really necessary for her. when we took her to the vet a few months ago, she was skeletal. under 6lb. now she's over 7lb
too true, ruru. We'll never know. we tried giving her fluids twice a week instead of every other day and she got rushed to the vet yesterday with vomiting and not drinking etc. she's back on every other day.
that's what we had Tommy on. How is her fliud status? It's good she's gaining weight
she seemed to be doing really well until yesterday, bright eyed, bushy tailed, bouncing around for the first time in a year or so. then yesterday she just went downhill again. It could have been something she ate of course, something manky from under the cooker or something, but it was just awful how quickly she went from ok to hunched and miserable
(sorry for wibbling about it. just had a bit of a scare over the last few hours with her!)
Sorry, ata, wasn't ignoring...was outta the room. BUN is less of a good prognostic indicator than Creat. a creat of 9 is pretty serious, at the high end of what is usually treatable. typically, i tell people that at that level, we can treat aggressively and usually see some response. much higher than that, and even with IV fluids and hospitalization we don't usually gain much.
you know, being dehydrated will raise a BUN and possibly affect the Creat too
*sigh* poor cats. I've been amazed at how many people have had cats with kidney problems since Jinx started to be ill

i love drawing out furniture patterns and house plans. all day dreams.
lbd - house plans are the best... although I always try to work in at least one tower for a library and a semi secret back hallway between certain rooms
management...not enough hours in the day or allowed for in the budget to get it all done.

I go to a doctor everyday, have urine checked and blood tests every 3 days... it is very important to have medical support throughout the fast
with no health "problems" there is no way i would be allowed to visit the md everday, altho she did say to contact her at any time if i felt need....

at home, and don't have any restrictions to seeing a doctor everyday.
Personally, if you can go everything 3 days, you will be safe

well health care here doesn't allow for it! you may have heard of our woes in that regard

it is good to have fasted before, but don't let the 'fasting high' that hits you in week two fool you. Blood tests are important and urine tests daily are necessary to check for proteins and blood in urine
my water is softened with potassium so i get plenty, and if i feel weakened overly much will certainly see the doc.

Trif - since dry white's my tipple, I could drink it endlessly but never really liked red very much. It was vinegary. However, since Beloved has been here with his small stock of merlot or cabernet sauvigignon, I've developed a taste. Doesn't get you drunk so quickly but , due to the tannin, give you a hangover next day.
