Every US president within the last 50 or 60 years, or so, has made Canada, their first foreign visit (except Dubbya)...when he came here in Feb...after his meetings and lunch and talks, he was being taken back to Airforce One....
One the way, he made the driver stop (in Ottawa) at a local bakery and he went in and bought "Beaver Tails" a sweet treat to bring home to his children....
he chatted with the staff at the bakery and took photos, and people on the street outside...
people were just so thrilled to see him so accessible.
that would have earned him a heap of brownie points
I think his Secret Service men were not too pleased..as it was very impromptu
but he is so charming, and his smile so warm and inviting

Obama has disappointed many who voted for him, including me. Our political system is owned by lobbyists. Obama's brand of pragmatism seems little different from expediency. i am not actally a big fan of pumpkin pie - iyt's a texture thing...unless it is really well done and firm in center...love the flavour though, used to eat the crust and leave the filling when i was a kid. can't get away with that as an adult :-( the crust has such a nice taste...
