thing th4 bothers me is...some schools near here have a 20% absentee rate now because of thi4....we still have people(who have kids in those schools) who will come into work sick (not sure if norm flu or H1N1).....you tell them they should take a few sick days...they say everyone else comes in, why shouldn't I...that's what spreads th4 stuff...and we all use the same keyboards, consoles etc

Stonehenge was wonderful -- smaller in diameter than I thought it would be, but those stones are so massive! The breadth of those capstones almost come to my waist or higher and I'm 5'8"

awww, it's windy today. the leaves have mostly fallen from the dogwood.
same here, seain. Lots of wind, lots of fallen leaves. I like it :)
here, too, seain, we had peak color on the flaming red maple a few days ago, everything is brown/gold now
dogwoods turn a lovely red. one of the few things that turns red here. that and the creeper.
usually Fall here is about the yellow. this year has been orangey - a real treat
we have all colours here. Lots of orange, red and yellow. When I go walk the dog, I walk over red carpet at home, yellow halfway and orange on the way back :)

i work with many people who have never experienced this season (from the caribbean), one told me she arrived in winter and thought all the trees were dead and was so amazed and astonished when they were reborn in spring -
the teache in my pascal class in HS was from SoCal. One day, we came in and the desks were turned to look out the window. She informed us that we would look at the changing leaves, as those of us that grow up with seasons take such beauty for granted.

when Halloween is on a weekday, they also start early, about 3:00 - I think they want to get out of the way before the teenagers take over

there are towns that make it a community affair - rather than door-to-door
there's a town party and we are a block away from it, plus some of the neighbors put up haunted houses,etc. but we foot the bill for our own stuff!

I live in a large apartment house. In the last 10 to 15 years the neightborhood and esp. the building I l ive is has mostly Russian families. So the children coming around trick or treating is sparse. I still have a bowl of candy ready though.

I am so-so, lindy... hip hurts badly some days, some days I can now walk from the car TO classes without a cane (and then always need the cane to get back to the car at the end of the day).
Classes are alternately challenging and easy, sometimes both difficult and fun.
