Read it Jill and I certainly do not object to you singing your version. There is nothing wrong with it if it reflects how you feel. Personally I don't think it matters whether one considers this his/her homeland or native land by birth or by adoption . What truly matters is that you do consider this to be your land. I also consider it a blessing that in this country we are all free to have our own opinions.
oops, not quite

Oh great, I finally got rid of that odd icon - I don't know where it came from, because it's not in my photo-folder. So glad our cute Astro displaced the other picture.

night pug!
I still see the multi coloured pic, but see the cat when I open your bio
When I open my bio, I still see that picture. It appeared about 10 days ago (gremlins, again) but I don't know how it got there - not from my pictures, although I've seen it before, but can't remember where/when.
that's strange, christine

hi there ruby
hi ruby
just going to take a break for half an apple and a bit of gjetost
what is gjetost?
a Norwegian cheese
ah, thanks jilli, have never seen it
we had spring weather all weekend, even the goldfish awakened from their winter torpor but it's cold again today. Enough!
you made me realize why I have a dull headache - was hungry so having a banana
lovely ruby
would you pls give one to my monkey, too, he's still in a torpor
the promise of Spring
by all means Ruby - one for monkey
hego promised but only the tulips and daffs really believe her
tulips, one of my favourite flowers
one part of the garden, along the steps down trom the street, has about 20 old ones and I planted another 50 last fall, all in shades of rose, pink and salmon.
gjetost is a brown colour, also called Ski Queen, slightly sweet
interesting
ruby, the news said there was a huge storm in France, lots of flooding -- I take it you were spared?
oh, beautiful ruby, please take a pic and use it in your icon
I will, if I can ever figure out how to change it. For some reason, the format seems to be wrong....ata got the dog in when I couldn't
good luck then ruby
oh my, I saw the surname of old Montreal French-Canadian friends in the grid (they owned a blue Dane, not as big as the one in my icon!) -- typed the name just for fun and it worked!
yikes! It's an obsolete word meaning "a coward; a dastard; -- a term of utmost opprobrium"!
wtg jilli, oops, obviously did not apply to your friends - how nice to have your memory jogged
oooh, just realized I'm well past 1/2 way - was dragging for so long, thought I'd never reach 1/2
I don't think I'll tell Madeleine Ni6/27, though!
good for you -- I only have 74 words
think you were well ahead of me earlier jilli, had a headache until I had something to eat!
the storms and flooding were on the vendee coast; we're all the way in the east, even east of Lyon and south of Geneva. Also, high up
had been nibbling all through the game today, then the closing so didn't feel like eating supper

You're welcome.
hello haz, I'm especially dense this AM!
Morning Haz!
hello FM
Good morning FM!
and good morning/evening all
just sent you a quick reply to yr email Haz.
Hello ruby - the hard working word also appears in the witches speech in Macbeth - hubble bubble, **** and trouble.
Thanks, FM, will look.
John the Baptist would have like one of the words in this grid...it was a word he said a lot
no rush
Whats the grid like today?
thank you haz and it gave me the fabricv at the same time!
Hello Dougles, we will mend our ways...
now dh is back wtih the groceries
It's a nice grid so far, FM.
Hello Haz
ty douglas!
yw ruby
Hi Douglas
and french star!!! yay
It's always a nice grid when you can get words within words, isn't it?
Hello FMitch...not usually here at this time of day...usually out of gas...
I was going to comment on that Douglas as I haven't seen you in ages :)
I recently had internet access restored, so I can be here at any time
I know, you disappeared off the radar for a while. Was it something we said?
It was probably your fault Haz *grin*
Heavens to betsy, no! The adapter on my laptop died, which meant my laptop died
No, technical difficulties are never my fault on the basis that I don't understand them. Has the laptop been repaired or replaced completely, Douglas?
without an internet connection I would grind to a halt, considering I need it for work and for babble of course.
The laptop is still dead, but I have a new desktop
Glorious sunny morning here amazing considering it poured down all day yesterday.
I wouldn't grind to a halt, but I'd be rather put out. It's amazing how quickly you come to depend on technology.
Yes, it was still pretty damp when we left yesterday, landed home and it's dry but really cold again. I hope we miss out on the storms in Europe.
yep cold here too, glad you had an uneventful flight back. So did enjoy the get togethe, am still smiling.
I know, it was perfect except for being so short.
And husband got to see the rugby on i player last night so he knows exactly what happened.
like the 3 of us were ever going to run of of things to talk about!
I've been hearing reports about a British Tea Party http://tinyurl.com/y9gspbj
A British tea party - without inviting us?
It was Daniel Hannan's tea party - you'll have to take it up with him!
Isn't he a MEP? Or should I say "Isn't he an MEP?"
That's the glorious thing about MEPs. Nobody knows who they are.
We elect them, they cost a fortune and you never see them from one election campaign until the other.
so true
ack, phone brb
I've heard a really dishonest politician is one who won't stay bought
It's a sad state of affairs. But it's not new.
We are the keepers of the sacred words NI, PENG, and NEEEEWONG (No PB for me, I know those words aren't in the dictionary)
Google's amazing.
Are you a member of this group, Douglas?
No, but I probably should be...Facebook groups proliferate like mushrooms on a downed tree
Just realised my icon is appropriate for today being the 1st of March and therefore St Davids Day
I haven't signed up to facebook so its workings remain something of a puzzle to me.
FM will now lead us in a rousing chorus of Men of Harlech.
Tried FB for a couple of days but it was too much.
I have just started using Facebook. I think I have all of 6 friends so far
Which will be followed by a throwing of daffodils and leeks and cries of Cwms and crwth forever!
I will sing you the Welsh National Anthem in Wesh if you like :)
Oh! Yes, that will be a treat.
There is a Babble group in FB somewhere Douglas
Didn't Ata say she had about 300 facebook friends? You've got a bit of catching up to do, Douglas.
Good morning babblers ....
Good morning, Norma.
Morning Norma
True...it's a little hard for me to get revved up about FB when I put more effort into Twitter
Mae hen wlad fy nhadau yn annwyl i mi, Gwlad beirdd a chantorion, enwogion o fri; Ei gwrol ryfelwyr, gwladgarwyr tra mâd, Dros ryddid collasant eu gwaed
Morning Haz and FM it is a beautiful morning the sun is shining and all is well with the world
Chorus: Gwlad, gwlad, pleidiol wyf i'm gwlad. Tra môr yn fur i'r bur hoff bau, O bydded i'r hen iaith barhau.
and so forth :)
Stand well back, people, consonant overload! (Do we need to stand up, FM?)
It's a tad frosty and misty here, Norma, but otherwise things are good as well!
LOL thats all folks. It is a grand morning here too Norma
Was it the anthem that John Redwood manifestly didn't know?
You will get the sun soon Haz I am sending it to you by first class post lol
Oh yes I think you are right Haz
Thank you, Norma, I will look out for it.
Winter's icy grip is steadily loosening here in Minnesota
The silly man should just have stood and looked solemn, trying to mouth Welsh and sway patriotically was a mistake.
Good grief - FMs typing typo's haved reached an all time low. Hello all
Haz I got some great pic on the camera but can't find the s/w (need to reinstall it) so I can upload the pics, am still hunting through boxes :(
Hello, lynxxx!
*grin* Hello lynxxx!
Oh, I hope you find it, the frustration of having them sitting in the camera not able to get them out!
I will get it sorted one way or 'tother
Ata has put a pic as her icon.
Well, lynxxx, we survived the meet-up and I survived London. I was asleep within 10 minutes on the plane home. I must be getting old.
Oh, I must have a look!
Good morning all babblers. I need some help. There's something strange, bright and yellow in the sky. Could it be an alien?
Morning Sally .... can you see it also lol
Excellent Haz, what show did you end up seeing?
you have it too Sally - it must be an invasion and Norma and I also see this bright light in a blue sky :)
hi Sally
Should I put on my tin foil hat yet?
We went to Les Miserables and it was fantastic!
good idea Sally
Oh Haz, I saw that many years ago and also thought it fantastic.
What did your doctor say FM?
HAven't been yet, to be honest am hobbling about a bit so haven't got my act together.
It had so many different elements running through it and it moved at such a fast pace so that the time seemed to fly in.
Les Mis is doing the rounds it is in Birmingham at the end of March and we are booked to see it for the eighth time lol
We could get to Birmingham quite easily. Will have a look.
Thought that fo6 was too new a word to be in the dictionary. Thought wrong.
It's definitely the sort of show that you could see again and again.
Have done London shows in a day by getting early train, seeing a matinee and then train home!
We were mesmerised at how busy it was on a Friday evening - and the coach took us down Savile Row so we got to see all the fancy tailoring in the windows. Not much use for farm work, all the same.
We are going to see it on March 30th Sally
Have only just started, but if you mean the fo 6/27, it has two meanings, not just the colloquial one.
Which theatre is it on at Norma?
I'm thinking of fo6/30
HAd forgotten what London was like, I am definiately a country girl. The sheer wieght of people and traffic was incredible.
I love to visit my son and family in London, but very happy to be back in the country. People are so much in a hurry and generally much ruder in London than here.
You'd have been amazed at the crowds coming out of Twickenham, FM. The police control was very good and there was no animosity or anything, but the sheer weight of numbers would feel very intimidating if there was ever any trouble.
The Birmingham Hippodrome the web address is www.birminghamhippodrome.com you can book tickets and even see your seats
Have been to Twickenham and ditto what you say Haz.
Thanks Norma. See it's on for a few weeks though haven't checked tickets yet. Wouldn't be able to do 30th March because it's grandson's 2nd birthday and I hope to be invited to eat cake and jelly.
Much more fun eating cake and jelly lol
Did I tell you that we were able to see Jeremy Guscott, John Inverdale, Keith Woods and Jonathan Davies doing their pieces to camera before the match? They were getting their make-up touched up.....
oh you rugby convert you!
hello again. Hi Sally
Hi ruby
Morning ruby
Hi ruby.
It's all too technical for me, but it was exciting. Hello ruby.
My first husband was a rugby player and I went to Twickenham with him many times. Glad not to have to stand in the freezing cold any more!
Can anyone clue the di6 please ;o)
It's all seated now - except at moments of tension when you can't help getting up!
can't help as have been too busy chatting and not finding words.
Lol FM
I'd clue it if I had it, but I don't
Thanks Doug
growing up in NY and spending many years in Miami and time in London and Paris, I can't handle big cities any more. I find them scary, especially since 9/11
function of advancing age?
oh ruby I was in Paris on 9/11 and on the way to the airport when the news started breaking.
di6 compound, put under water, & fish*** stockings
how horrible! how did you feel about getting on a plane?
Thanks lynxxx
numb
ty lynxxx
various friends and family saw it "live" on television or even from rooftops and windows. So horrible, I can't get over it
Good night, or morning, all
I think the whole world felt like that
we were here, of course, and French friends started telephoning
bye Douglas
Bye Douglas, nice to see you again.
bye douglas
Bye Douglas.
I think 9/11 was like President Kennedy getting shot .. everyone in the world remembers where they were and what they were doing went it broke
Bye Douglas
I have to go to London in May and am afraid to fly, don't know what I'll do.
I'm already dreading it
I remember watching the footage of 9/11, feeling like many people that it was like watching an action film, and then feeling ashamed that people had been seeing that sort of thing as 'entertainment' for so long. It brings home the reality of the consequences of violence.
ruby, there's so much security nowadays that there's a very remote chance of anything going wrong.
It will be fine ruby we all have to believe that otherwise none of us would ever go anywhere.
I guess, and Geneva - London isn't such a big deal route - not so many Americans to be targeted
BBL must go and get some shopping done or we wont be eating for the rest of the week ... see you all later (poof)
Bye, Norma.
and don't start dreading it now otherwise you will build it up into a much bigger thing than it really is.
and I'll get to see my London relatives and my sister from NY. I'm trying to talk myself into it!
TTFN Norma
*wonders if I could give Norma my shopping list*
ruby, why don't you go by train? We went to Venice by train last year, all the way from Shropshire, and it was fantastic - and greener!
much quicker to fly though
we are 4+ hrs from Paris by train, then the trip to London. It would take a whole day each way, or else I would do that
No romance in flying these days!
1 1/2 hr by plane
I know. Taking off your shoes is a bit of a nuisance but it has to be done.
when I worked, I did a lot of flying, all over the world, and it was wonderful! But I retired in 2000
there is very little romance left in any form of travel these days unfortunately.
Plus time to get to the airport, time to check in, time to get your baggage out, time to get to the city centre from the airport. People don't factor those times in.
too many people, poorly dressed. I remember getting on my first jet in 1959 and wearing little white gloves!
lol ruby. Probably hats as well.
and in my 40's, I thought nothing of flying to meet a friend for dinner
yes, lol
oh how the memories com flooding back!
yes indeed!
and oh how my typos haunt me :)
I was between marriages for many years and it was grand!
:-) FM
Well, time for me to get started on some chores. (Memories.com sounds like a good name for a website - buy it up now, FM!)
yes, and then we could all self-publish!
and you could get the royalties, haz

And you turned pro quickly thus you are addicted. Good work!
but bitten quickly by the pro bug!
lol, I LOVE word games
Then you found a great game, Ormal, with a wonderful community of people. Where do you live?

In Kentucky until at least November this year.

lol FM
shakespeare's works are in fo5s
and 8 is related
fm,you should stop using I.E and use firefox or google chrome,,they would never let a pop up cascade happen like I.E does
crossy makes an excellent point
and you can turn that fo5 into an fo7 and fo8
i recomend firefox
got it thanks
Crossy, I've heard a lot about Chrome. You like it?
i have not used any type of I.E browser for 6 years now:)

hello
Fun
Hiya Ruby
they re8 the factory to make widgets instead of thingamajigs
Good Morning - there are way too many vowels in this grid...
morning, cadfan
Sorry DC...don't understand you're clue!
re8 is pt of re6/18
re8 is to change something to do something else
Time for a tea break bbs.
anybody have the clue for the right-hand e?
en5 to go in
duh, I looked for that in the wrong direction. thank you
if that's not the right e, it's en6: en + work
and past tense
tricky one
de rien, ruby!
agreed, hego!
merci
en5 is right E, as a matter of fact
nice icon, une, and spring is def coming, hego. I actually did a little gardening this afternoon - clean-up, really
Nice Ruby, I'm jealous.
clean
clean-up is important
does anybody have hydrangeas and, if yes, when do you prune them?
same here, ruby -- yesterday I was actually able to do and a little gardening and was inspired to do some cleaning out of the garage chaos! LOL
yes, ruby, i have several
my mom does, and she prunes in the Fall, before buds set.
*do a little
mine still have last year's dead flowers
My garden is under a foot of snow. :-(
ah, there's a robin.
it's ok to cut off just the flower part
I'm sorry I brought it up, hego, come on over here, I'll make you a hot toddy
but this year's buds are already set
oh, and i got to see a horned owl in the trees behind the apartment yesterday :) only the 3rd time in my life i've seen an owl in the wild
Yes, there are robins, but thye look a little confused.
wow, seain, how cool!
I've never seen one, just drew them to sell. That is amazing!
my sister and i grew up seeing lots of hummingbirds and woodpeckers, but owls are a treat.
my nephew demands my attention now, bbs
some new food for thought in my profile if you wish to refresh and take a peek
the only owls I ever saw were at my grandmother's old house in Louisiana (when I was little)
well, that was fleeting :)
we have totally different birds here from what I knew in the US, so it's been good learning about them
she had a tree that had been struck by lightning and a hollowed tall stump remained -- every year she had hootowls in the stump :-)
sounds fun, Ruby
we have starlings and pigeons in common with europe
bye dc, I've only seen one hummingbird in my life but at least I saw it every day for a while
oh, neat, une
ruby, go where there are mimosa trees - hummingbirds and butterflies feed on them in droves
happily, no starlings here - where I grew up in NY, they were a terrible, dirty nuisance.
I get hb's in my rose of sharon every year.
don't you love them, hego?! :-)
They're amazing.
oh, nice, hego
hello all
off to make coffee -- back in a mo *poof*
hi, aslindy
Saw a great PBS special about them recently.
I put in buddleia in the garden for the butterflies but I don't know if mimosa grow here. We have a rose of sharon, too. hmm. and the French word is collybri for hb. The good news is that the buddleia attract hawk moths!
Hi Lindy
(hego, i saw it too - it was fabulous!)
mimosas grow in Provence
we also planted lots of shrubbery specifically for the birds, but mainly my husband feeds them constantly
we're pretty far north of there
it's cool when the almost-four-year-old feeds the cats for you :)
how cute!
DMK you haven't got as many words as i have!
I remember my daughter feeding the dog, when she was about 2... dumped out the whole bag of food...
the dog loved it, of course
Une, I love the Nature program.
scoop in a tupperware container reduces spillage
Nature is a great show.
that's what my husband uses with birdseed
I have 70 words at the moment - about to do some more
The best, almost makes TV worthwhile. lol
no good nature programs on tv here
i have 100
he buys 20 lb sacks and uses plastic containers for scoopds
Really, ruby.
me, too, sandra!
sunflower seeds
Ruby, if you ever travel to the Med coast, you'll never guess what Bormes-les-Mimosas is known for
and his fish woke up yesterday after sleeping under the ice all winter
oh, yes, I never thought of that -- haven't been in the South of France in a long time
we started with 23 "feeder" goldfish and now have hundreds including some which are big enough to eat (no no!)
carp are tasty.
he'd sooner eat a dog!
i love watching them move very, very slowly under the ice - coolest thing ever
i understand entirely :-)
anyone else trying to type 'noodle' ?
Oh yum.....not
I think they stay alive by breeding, down there, because there are always abies in the spring
Good morning/afternoon all.
hadn't crossed my mind, lindy, til you mentioned it :p
hi haz
hi, haz
phantom noodle
oh, sorry! =)
leonid
alas, that's only a meteor shower
Hiya Haz. Heard you folks had a great time at the meet.
Hello! Just back to get this finished.
do I still have to go to the pb? I got so excited when I saw it
We did, hego, it was great fun. All in all a super weekend.
not valid, no PB for you
No pb, not a word.
wonderful, haz. who all came?
Terrific
phew
There was Ata, FM and me and my husband came along for part of the time.
oh, very nice
how nice for you three!
i need to pick a date for our Baltimore meet-up.
We've all been friends on babble for ages, exchange e-mails a lot etc, but it's special to see people face to face.
Hi Haz.....can I ask, had you all met before?
I am so jealous!
I think it would be strange to meet face to face fot the first time.
Hello Flask - I had met FM before, FM had met Ata before, but this was the first time for Ata to meet me.
I listen to bad stories about people who meet on line looking for love! lol But for babblers, I think it would be wonderful
A little unreal, kind of.
We had no trouble finding lots to talk about, that's for sure.
I'll bet.
hi, flask
that's one of the nice things about the meet-ups - conversation abounds
Yes...Lilliann and I have met a few times too.....itis fun!
I'd spoken to Ata on the phone so knew what she sounded like, and had seen photos etc. It's still good to join up the dots, so to speak.
Hi DC
I think its fair to say, we were all thinking of the three of you!
any PT words today?
Wondering how it was going....
and being jealous!
time to go tend bar, see you later!
Lizmac came on and said she had phone you and got an excellent report!
That's nice! Husband and I really enjoyed the rest of the weekend as well - Les Miserables on the Friday evening, visiting War Cabinet rooms on Saturday morning, watching Ireland beat ENgland on Saturday afternoon.... couldn't be better!
cracked pepper and cottage cheese is such a happy combo
what lovely weekend, haz :)
bye Rube, have to go too. bbl
bye hego
Yes, Lizmac was another surprise that Ata had lined up for us.
What a triumph that was Haz!!!
be well, ruby
shall I make a martini for you?
Was she there too?
yay martinis!
ty seain
No, she phoned her, Flask and we all had a chat.
I thought I was going to have a heart attack watching the rugby!!!
oh well, thats nice.....but what a fabulous weekend for both of you!
I was on my feet and screaming by the end. We had a great view of Tommy Bowe heading towards the try line.
Brilliant!!!!
It was a great weekend, goodness knows how much it cost the nice people who sent us (there were 68 in the party altogether!) but we really appreciated it.
......and the bounce off the upright done it for me.....hee-hee!
http://xkcd.com/708/ - a gaming/dice joke in a webcomic
I know, we shouldn't laugh but it's hard not to.
Wonderful!!
pi5 grigio
is pottied not the past tense of potty?
When did potty become a verb?
:) how much time do you spend around small children?
LOL
Even so....
hi all
Hello, Boo.
hi boo!
Good morning all
Hello, Mr Bob.
hello, Mr Bob
hi, boo
Hi Mr Bob
Hi all. Back for the afternoon shift.
Hey Sally!
Hey Flask. Finding the grid slow today.
Och...am just enjoying it!
Oh, I'm enjoying it - just finding the words slow to come.
lots of vowels...
clue please for do6/21, anyone?
Don't have it yet Flask. *waits hopefully for someone else to clue it for Flask*
i think you just clued it for yourself, flask, right before you asked! :)
Morning
help with the di 6/24 please
thanx Hurshy
Hello Sally, hurshy, Kaplan, mac cafix.
*think think* it has to use the P...
aha
go for a d** in the pool and don't get caught in a fishing n**
Hi Haz
Hello
ty!
I kind of have work to do and my house is dirty, so here I am!
Babble - friend of procrastinators everywhere.
thanks for the clue hurshy. I ALSO NEEDED HELP.
leding
sorry
thats ok, just make sure its a real word, next time!!...;-)
Is there a lickety today? I can't work without it.
yes, there is!
Oh good. More happy hours squandered
hey look, tiger woods' poor wife is in the grid
So is the place where she could get a quick divorce.
I did not realize she was destitute
a theme puzzle!
But she is not a word so we are out of luck.
all you people ever think about is whether it COUNTS... so mercenary ;)
Look, we're just in this thing for the points.
*Shock*
well i'm in it for the pure love of words... even proper nouns! hence the game, name that proper noun!
The Egyptian river/singular Crane brother?
nile
which i thought would count in its capacity as a shade of green...
I'm in it for the cash prize.
We can't say di4/7 as usual, though.
Swan Lake character!
enable doesn't know about nooners!
Odile?
Yeah- I checked.
yes! go, haz!
Scraped from the memory banks, Une.
that still counts, haz LOL
Oh good, just as long as you don't expect a six part essay or anything. The name is about as far as I can go.
:-D
darn thing wont take n4/4er :((
we all tried it, crossy! LOL
I really have to go do something useful so I'll be back later
Bye, Kaplan.
*flop*
same here -- byeeee *poof*
haz, you wouldn't take away my di4/7's?! not really!
I really worry about your bra sometimes, Ata.
Hello floppy Ata.
no,i meant the grid, not a babblers daily schedule une;))
I feel the lack of the di4/7, i4/7, di4/7 - kind of comforting to know that you've guessed correctly.
interesting. i never thought to worry about her bra... just her excessive scientific knowledge.
*YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWNS* hello there, babblers...
lol nor me. just my legs ability to hold me upright!
It's the floppiness that troubles me :-)
Hello, EvaN. You're the one to ask about underpinnings, you like showing yours, don't you?
This conversation is getting a bit too risque for me
That's a lovely word, underpinnings.
oh dear. what sort of inappropriate conversation did i sleepwalk into?
is the opposite of underpinnings, overpinnings or underunpinnings?
v funny Hursh! and greetings all.
do you mean because of those pinup photos she took for her boyfriend? that was like 2 or 3 years ago, wasn't it?
I know, I'm fond of it - that's when foundation garments were made of steel and whalebone. None of this flopping about.
FM!!
Ata!!!
Exactly hurshy, she's never done having photos taken.
Hello FM!
You mean those things are out of fashion now? Shucks, must change the contents of my wardrobe.
Hi Haz et al
what did the dr say?
gorsh -- i havent had photos done for almost a good solid year now! ;)
You've not turned camera shy on us?
no, just busy. and poor. yknow, what with wedding-planning and all. ;)
got an 8.30 appt in the morning.
crossy keeps an eye out for long, curvy underpinnings:)
Imagine, FM meets Ata and me and she ends up having to go to the doctor.
Is this from when you fell down the stairs, FM?
Good luck with doc.
there may not have been flopping about, but there was also less oxygen to the brain...
but funnily enough, the photogrpaher we are most likely going to book for our wedding (thanks to an insanely amazing deal she is offering us) is one and the same who did my pirate-lass photos...
fraid so sally
we're a bad influence!
If the price is good, and you know her work already, EvaN, go for it!
am sure that I will be told there is nothing that can be done and jus tto rest up - but want to get it checked out.
theres "good," then theres "so insanely good its almost free" :)
definitely
speaking of weddings, i went dress shopping on ebay yesterday for something to wear to my uncle's. i bought 3... that way one of them is bound to work.
Can you send them back if they don't work, hurshy?
Or just resell them?
i don't i can send back... two had measurements so i'm pretty sure those will fit, and the other one, well, if it doesn't fit i will probably just find a friend who it does fit and give it to them, as i only spent $10 on it (including shipping)
*i don't think
that's the beauty of shopping on ebay, three dresses for the price of one... or less than one...
Ata how come you knew about the F&C shop in Barnham? HAve been dying to ask.
I'm glad Spangle liked her present, Haz :)
spangle got a present?
from grandparents living very near Barnham for years and years! I used to get the train to there rather than Bognor when I went to visit them
Oh she did! The bone went down a treat, and she's had some of the other bits and pieces as well.
Ah well there you go!
Yes, from Hobbit to Spangle via Ata.
my sister's puppy hid the older dog's bone under her chest while chewing on her own bone, then pulled it out when she was done with hers. selfish, sneaky little pup
I forgot to tell you, for fear that Mr Haz would faint, the crunchy hearts are holistic and organic, and made of 100% human edible food from a special dog bakery in London. LMAO!! They are normally £4.59 a pack *faints* but nice farm shop man gave me a pack to try. Would never have bought otherwise!!
??? doilie is not a word???? Since when?
since it's doily
Gosh, so I could eat them as well?
good heavens, that equates to the amount I might of paid for meal worms for the Robin but refused to!
For one brief faint moment I read that as made from humans.
yep! of course, I actually tried one. and it actually tasted quite nice!
lol Sally
acceptable spellings are doilie, doiley, and doily
LOL sally
Well it did start 100% human ... :-)
can anyone PLEASE clue me the last li4/4 word?
is that the li4 sleeps tonight?
It's the King of the jungle, Flask.
Flask - king of the jungle
I'm still quite bewildered that people will pay £4.59 for a SMALL pack of dog biscuits!
yes DC, it is!!!........what a fool I am!!.thanx!
the cat food i buy for my cats is all made from FDA approved-for-human-consumption ingredients, too. that is their regular diet. and it has a higher proportion of animal protein than most cat foods.
Got very bad looks from the birds this morning as I used up the last 2 slices of bread last night for me - for cheese on toast. Ended up giving them bread sticks this morning - they were not happy.
i'm still bewildered that people will eat dog food.
thanx all, for the clue.....lolol
Ah, but it's holistic... and organic...
bad FM!! not as evil looks as I am getting from Sily though. I removed her access to her scratching post (i.e the stair bannister!) and gave her an Authorised Scratching Post. She hates it
and it gives u worms
!
FM, they really really need the food at the moment!
I need help with the di6, the last one...any clues?
Chicken stew is now ready for next stage of cooking. Must go again. Happy Babbling all.
is that the one i clued before? take a d** in the water and don't get caught in a fishing n**?
i thought the beauty of stew was that it only had one stage...
Toodle-oo, Jacula.
yes! thank you..
di6 - fishing implement that one casts.
oh does it really mean that?
brb
my husband has decided that the birds don't like the less expensive brand of sunflower seeds and he's throwing away about 10 lbs.
what??? just put it out on the ground, surely some unpicky animal will benefit from it.
and do they?
I make veal heart risotto for the dogs using brown rice, bouillon, cauliflower and leftover chicken. And their vet approves!
I told him that and he saind no
but what a waste!!!
awful!
Wasorry phone got in the way - Sally - they have 3 bird feeding stains in the garden, the bread is just a garnish AND I had already broken the ice on the bird bath - they are too spoilt!
whatever risotto Max leaves, I put out for the birds, but he doesn't know
can't you just scatter the seed while he's not looking? he's not going to gather it all up again just to throw it away...
he meaning dh
drives me crazy
*stations not stains :(
I am blissfully happy this week as husband has gone to Oxford for the week. yay!
Time for Spangle to have her afternoon walk, she wants me to come as well, so I'd better get my coat on.
lucky you, ata!
oh party at Atas then :)
have a lovely walk!
Will do, the sun is shining and everything! Byeee!
I've started the HUGE spring project of grooming Ruby; I took out enough hair yesterday to knit a small dog!
Am going to TTFN too for a while.
bye haz
you should knit a jumper with it!
lol ruby
it would be very pretty but somewhat stinky when it rains
I have a book called "Knitting with Dog Hair". I'll have to see what they say about chow fur!
I give both dogs beer yeast (can't think of the English) and it has made Ruby's coat incredible
some of the hairs are 5 in long!
brewer's yeast I guess
aah, brewers' yeast
brewer's yeast -- i do too -- good stuff
brain lapse
wouldn't you be blissfully happier if you got to be the one who was in oxford for a week?
I tried it for me, but it did nothing for my coat!
:-D
what does it do for the coat?
yes ... but I am here with Sily and Hobbit and sunshine and beaches!
makes it healthier, ata, AND helps keep fleas away
makes it dense and shiny and healthy.
:)
I give my pups daily chewable tablets that combine brewer's yeast and garlic
I didn't know that about fleas. However, it doesn't prevent mange (see: Max)
but he's getting better
ooooo
well, no, it wouldn't prevent mange . . .
i believe i dislike this grid.
I wrap their meds in cream cheese, how bad is that?
ruby LOL!!!
we ALL prefer our meds with cream cheese! LOL
I had one chow who would carry her meds around for 15 mins and then drop them in another room -- canny b***ch
ugh, i don't
I wrap Hobbit's in chicken paste
ruby, i had a springer who did that too -- slipped it under his lip till I wasn't looking :-)
I would take Hobbit's meds if wrapped in chicken paste!
we put ours in baby food (turkey)
all solutions sound like happy ones for the pups!
dogs are too funny, especially the ones (like chows and maybe springers) who aren't noted for high IQ's.
:-D
funny, I would probably like that, too
as opposed to my cats, who when they have had to have meds, have just gotten them forced down their throats.
cats with pills are another matter entirely
and cats with pink bubblegum antibiotics stain things
there was a joke online about that, how the cat would ultimately destroy the house but with dogs you could just wrap the pill in bacon and throw it up in the air!
Back. lol ruru. We have to give our cats pills and I am stocking up on the sticking plaster!
must get going -- helping at library this afternoon -- bye, all! *poof*
cats = devils near tablets. they turn into twisty tuny-inside-out things
but lovable ones!
bye une
so many of the icons are dogs and cats!
My wife would come home from the vet and tell me: oh we have to give Ninja three pills a day for two weeks...I left for Hawaii the next day.
Sadly our cats only eat dried food, and turn up their noses at things like fish which I used to hide pills in for the previous cats.
to tell me
lolol ruru!
raofl, ruru
ditto Silverclaw
my husband, too, heads for the hills when something must be done
I thought you were going to say he heads for the hills when you are going to give him his pills.
we go to a little restaurant in the village where the resident dog eats any kind of fish, squid included
wow.. I am really stuck with this grid
I wish, Sally
I got 101 words, ruru, and that is probably it
I have 122, but it is now very very slow.
i have trouble with the E's. only have sea bird and french star.
it's slower at 139
I monkeyed things I thought couldn't possibly be words and they were
thanks for the encouragement guys
hurshy: e5 go in
ha! don't i feel silly.
There's en 6/18 which is en + work, then past tense
that's how I felt when somebody gave it to me!
thank you sally and ruby
which makes no sense, sally, but I used it anyway
You get to know babble words :-)
but it won't accept doilie!!!!
el7 = el+vowel+di4/7
ooooh bugger i should have got that one
that's my only 7, lawyer
do you have any others?
there are 7, alll of them invisible to me
fo7=fo5 past tense
el 7
There's a po7 which I think is an alt. spelling of the Irish illicit whisky
re7
po7 are the ones I have
nice, sally
i have a te
And do you have fa8?
and pi which is lovely to have in the grid!
fa8 was my first word!
mine too
fa8 = fa6 + suffix - something to help you gain weight
I am on a diet now
Alt spelling of doughnut :-)
I hv the fa8, also early on but fo5? nah
pinon
pinot
uh-oh
i goofed
ty lawyer lol
Just keep going, lawher!
have those lawyer.. find others
I love you
consider those 2 early x-mas presents
But I had them :-(
wrap them in the PB then
I'm putting cookies in the oven for you
anyone have ot5?

Hi ruby
hello all
I have to get to work..BBL to finish
hi perikins!
Sark is my favourite place in the world. My mum used to have a cottage there,
hi peri, your name is almost in the grid. More than anybody else's!
Bye ruru TTFN
Hi peri!
ggirl bet it will end up that you know ther person that Ata knows on Sark!
6 degrees of separation.....
by ru!
yep ruby
im outta here too!
ruruyay!
probably! whereabouts on Sark was it?
That would be a surprise. i haven't been back to Sark for about 30 years.
the cottage was on Rue Lucas. i don't think its there any more. it was called Clos Lucas.
Bye all have to go,tea time!
how lovely! I would so love a cottage exactly there!
It was great. Water had to be fetched from the well and there was an outside toilet but lovely for holidays
lifton
oops
it's just a perfect holiday place!
Yes. when were you last there?
The pics Ata took of the island really sold it, it looks like a wonderful place to live if ready for a slower place of life
it is absolutely beautiful, but i don't think it's as happy a place to live as it used to be.
*thinks* last summer ... early June
I think you're probably right
Too much interference in the traditional ways of life, i'm afraid
such a shame
but it's still wonderful!
Yes. I am sad i can't get there any more, but i have a mobility problem and you really need to be fit to cope over there
yes, you really really do!
The walk up from the harbour finishes off a lot of people!
thank goodness for the tractor train!
Hear, hear
I charged around Sark with friend and 2 mad dogs. Is heaven for dogs too!
I don't know if it's still the same, but it used to be that only the Seigneur was allowed to have a bitch.
lol going to leave you two charging around, must finish some for stuff and then have early start in the morning. Happy Babbling.
still the same - at least an unneutered bitch
neutered bitches are allowed, and so are visitors unneutered bitches, for a short stay
bye dear!
Bye FMitch
It only needs a very short stay for the deed to be done!
yes! not sure if there are official length of stay limits!
This has been a lovely chat, but i need to go and do something about supper, for me and the cat.
lovely to meet you! enjoy dinner!
Hope to meet again. Thanks and goodbye.
hello all - back for 60

What a strange word! Thanks so much, Mary!
Thanks, Mary!
yw
oh, gosh, ty Mary
omg!! just came across this article about a teenage girl who thought texting that haiti relief number was a self generating charity thing and she did not realize that 10 dollars gets added to the cell bill each time it is dialed......she dialed it 1,888 times!
Wow, crossy!
sounds like a teenager
and the cell bill of course is in mommy and daddys name;/
poor things
Glad my kids are grown now.
i think that when those type of texts are made, there should be a prompt indicating the charge to the bill
good idea.
Well, her heart was in the right place...
sounds like a good time for her to get a summer job to pay that off!
I think she was sitting on it. No, wait. That would be her brain.
well ,if i were her mom and dad,id try getting her to canvass the town people door to door for haiti relief.if her and some friends can get 2 or 3 dollars per door
they were pretty clear in the advertisement that a charge owuld be added, I'd make her get a job.
she can then offset the bill a bit
another good idea. Crossy has his thinking cap on today.
yes,i am told the inital ad was clear on this
it really really was, and even when radio announcers promoted it they added that the 10 dollars would be added to their bill.
One would htink though that the phone company would wonder abotu that many calls.
they dont care,a while ago some 14 year old boy placed a bunch of those 1-900 calls.i hear he was into ma bell for 20 or 30 g,s
Well, I guess about the 1900 numbers....a 14 yr old is old enough to know better....
the charity thing, at least the gal wasnt doing anything pornographic, and YES, I think there is a difference...
one does not call a charity donation line normally 1 thousand times....
pornography, some people do!
ive heard bell reps say"i we are a phone company,we are not investigators that we should check into large call placements"
Ok, I must run, and that is probably also true cross....
See ya, red!
if i was a single guy,i would be telling bell to stick it where the sun dosent shine! just to cancel my da,s phone line when he went into a home,i had to dance through flaming hoops
tc red
i finally had to say to them, this is who i am,this is MY phone number, and im telling you that if you keep my dads old line active, you will NOT be paid!
and ill make sure to tell the new people to make lots of calls!
clue for the last 2 br pls
ok..im done venting about bell telephone
What do you need, Boo?
Nm, I'm crazy...
not sure I have br 4/4
br 4/6 = It sure it br**zy today
a hobbit territory
where the prancing pony inn resides;)
br 5/14= b + r***, or lease
2nd br 4/6 removes last letter of the 5
ty
Time for a break...
ahhh! have to love clive cussler novels.as the hero you can be away for months, saving the world all the while needing a shave, smelling like a gym sock, while drunk on tequillia and bouncing back every day to get the crap pummeled out of your body all the while the women are laying themselves at your feet without a wimper of protest lol
that's why it is called fantasy, cross
got to love it;))
Hi kje
i asked the wife if i can cultivate a permanant 3 day beard and start drinking tons of tequillia and she said no;(((
then i said"well, what about saving the world then?" she said"you better save your own life first buddy"
then i sad"well can i at least get a fancy handgun?" she said"the first bullet will be for you if you do"
Firewoks

i think she is reading max hanies atm

Hi Harry

Hi harry
We used to have a contact "across the pond" who was in the military and would ship our used books to him for distribution among the troops... still trying to find a new one/address as he retired a while back...
she has a degenerative eye disease jilli, and it is now settled at 20/400.it has taken all this time for electronics to catch up(e-book readers) and they enable her to read even at that level of vision
pe + I am you a** + not off but **

babies are up - gotta go change diapers
bye!
Bye guys
I only use my cell phone for emergencies -- I have it turned off and in my purse, and only a few people have the number, but today I got an e-bill with an extra charge of $9.10 for "browsing" and "premium messages". I called the company and it turns out I was being sent text messages by some spurious outfit in Pasadena and was being charged for them whether I opened them or not. I don't even know how to send messages on my phone! Anyway, a very nice techie talked me through stopping the messages and cancelling the browsing feature, plus cancelled the charge for all this.
you were lucky you got a kind techie!
Frightening isnt it? That people can just leech money out of us without us even knowing
Apparently such outfits can pick up info from websites and use them -- I'm still baffled as to how they got my cell phone number, which I have never used online.
so, your phone must be on contract billing if you can keep your browser going all the time, and not pay as you go
And now, having passed that along, I have to go and get some lunch! Back later.
Crossy, I was unaware that I even had a browser. It's now turned off -- and yes, I have a contract called "Small talk" at a very low monthly rate.
But there was an extra charge of $1.10 for using the browser (which I didn't know was happening)
well ty for the warning.forwarned is forarmed
Yep! Ttfn!
Vancouver seems really boring today
I would imagine so!
... and fireworks!
Oh well. We're all spent anyways. Time for a rest...
Yay, Merk!!!

*looks hopefully at jell*
el 7= the act of skipping over letters in pronunciation
e plus the top of a container and a gerund.
e + I sl** down the ski slope + gerund ending
wow i was looking for that jell but concluded there was no gerund in the grid *smack * i can be so blind sometimes!
oh no there is a also a do with a gerund.
any clues for the 8s guys? i just started.
and an fo8 that's a gerund
and a p gerund
Hey, newcomers!
lo6 gerund
lol gerund r us!
fo? gee. must look
fo5 - as in how shakespeares works are catalogued, then past, then gerund
wow it would have taken my monkey forever to find that!
get the fo 8. ty.
but not the fo 8..........dont see it.
ty ty pinny and dc
I do appreciate the Fo clues that is one word I would not have thought was an actual word.
fo5 extends to fo7 and fo8, as a verb
I'm back ... I'm helping my daughter with her newborn and duty calls first. Anyway, I have fireworks and I have to continue helping. See y'all tomorrow.
Bye, Merk
congrats and be well, merk

:)DC
any other 8 letter words out there? would love clues.
nice sunset dcseain.
en8, which is the past of en6 - to make to work hard
hey everyone!
Hi Smoothp
re8 - the factory re8 to make widgets instead of thingamajigs
hello all, can cluie for a few minutes
hi, smooothp
ty, red
smooth, may I ask which types of Cameras/lenses you are using?
hey there smooth_ papa, have not seen yoiu here in a long time. how are you?
*clue* :)
that is not my photo - there is a link to original.
the snow photos are from an $80 all-in-one 12mPix from Walmart
Hi, smooth
any clues needed?
DC, I was asking Smooth, his profile says he is a photographer, professionally.
peri, I need 47 clues exactly. What are they all...
to8 - add pot top/what you do when you eat out
my bad, red :">
peri, some more 8s. i have only one: the fo.
turtle, I use canon cameras. I'm actually using a pretty old one right now... a rebel xt. but lenses are where you want to spend money, in my opinion. I use a canon 28-105, a sigma 75-300, and a tamron 18-25
you need to be more specific, red :)
LOL Peri!
its ok dc.
fa8/55 builds on the fa6 to plump up
the photography that really pays is product photography, and for that I mainly use the 28 - 105
Smooth, I am working with a Nikon D 70s, and a very nice 70-300 lens these days, but, there is SO much noise "in" the camera at times...
I have been thinking about getting the 28-105 to do something other than birds...
or something similar, but cant decide, new lens or tripod to reduce the noise, or...just get a new camera body.
Yeah, I get noise in mine, especialy at higher ISOs. Again, though, working in a controlled studio envrionment, with good strobes, that's not really n issue for my work. it can be for outdoor twilight shots, though
re8 is the past tense of the re6 before it. re+ what an ax or hammer are
but I dont expect to ever get paid. I just like to win the occasional prize.
hey, those prizes are always nice. :) Any recognition is nice.
mkg, did those clues help?
I have to be careful as so mnay just want people to enter so they can have the image as property!
yea, in this open electronic age of sharing, you do have to be very careful about people taking images. A friend of mine happened to find his work being used by some blog in Thailand. TYhey just grabbed his images off of some site or forum, and decided to use them
just stopped in for a bit, may be back later, bye for ow
I ask because I was recently at a shuttle launch and all the pros had Canons, and I was starting to think I went down the wrong road....
hasta, peri
sorry to jump in and quiz you, but this year I am tyring to take about 10 really great images...
So far, I have err, about 2.
hehe... it's the eternal battle. I swear by canon, and will always reccomend them... but in all honesty, I know some very good photgraphers who feel just as strongly as Nikon. A shuttle lanch? That would be so cool to see and shoot!
no worries! I don't mind offering advice where I can.
well, I live close to the space center.
the program is ending so if you ever want to photo a launch I recommend making plans soon.
yeah, I know. I'm a big fan of space and aeronautics. That really bummed me out to hear.
I just changed my icon so I can showcase my cranes.
holy to6
Smooth, the Space center was really fn (for a day or so). They have a Huuuge clean room and let you go in and watch them work on the shuttle from behind glass...
TY DC
that's so cool!
I was fascinated. The actual launch was less impressive than I actually imagined, but I prefer the birds to rockets.
there was a horned owl in the trees yesterday. sadly, no camera to be found
DC you have to take it with you!
Owls! special.
yes, but i could not find what Tom had done with the camera here in the house. it was in the trees outside the balcony
as in, i was watching it from my living room
I wonder if it will be back!
we'll see. snow made food scarce for a month, so mayhap it'll be back
wonders what owls eat when they cant hunt...
TY smooth btw for all that advice.
it got at least a chipmunk or squirrel yesterday - couldn't see which through the leaves on the ground
no prob, red
I guess an owl hanging round a feeder can get a good meal...he heh
no feeder right here, but yes :)
Ok going to marinate scallops...on sale today, so its going to be a seafood week
be back in a bit for the last 45...
njoy, red
hello everyone -- back for the few I couldn't find last night and waiting for inspiration to strike :)
hey nan! long time! :)
howdy, nan
Later, red
Hi, nan
peri, ty. got one but not the re 8. still looking. have one re 6 and that is all.
any more clues? not half way yet.
re 6/18 = re + the equipment someone uses in their profession, like a carpenter uses a hammer. The past tense for the 8/45
Hey all! Are there any PT words today...and if yes, may i have a clue or two....?
potten
oops
pe 6?

TY Jellen!
no pt words, but I'm stuck on the po's!
pe-6: french father + not off
pe6= French father + not off
ty dalia
jinx!
po7?
any clues for po 6 or 7?
ty luv. got it.
po7 doubles the middle consonant of the po6
po 6 is someone who throws clay
po + person between 10 and 20.

good job jili!
ty smoooooth -- haven't seen you in ages!
congrats, jilli
ty and hi dc :)
it's been a verrrry long time, jili. before yesterday, I don't think I'd been around in at lest a year.
dc, I did post the colour orange -- don't know if you saw, but eventually it was bacon martinis (ugh!) for crossy's sake
been away, smooth?
huh, okay :)
hello all...back again!
yes and no... Not away from home, but things have been very... erm... hectic in my life for a while. a large part of it had to do with my company semingly on the brink of going under. but we pulled it out, and are around at least for another year. :)
hi rep!
oh, phew, smooth!!!
hey jilli!
help with the di 6/24, please? thanks
so work kept me super busy, and then just the rest of life... you know. But I didn't have tons of extra time. I'm not sure I have the time yet, but I'm trying ;)
cast di6 to fish w/out a pole
well, good luck, smooth, and you need a break for refreshing sometimes
hehe... oh yeah!
dcsceain, i think that i understand the clue, but dinett does not work........ more help please?
you're close, joey
take a di* with your n
joey, don't di* into your saving too much or your *** worth won't be good.
oh, crap. thanks. that worked. i am dumg

brb
No I'm not here
I'm not here
I'm not here

I would like a clue for my last 8. I have fa 8, en 8, fo 8, and re 8..... what am I missing?
to8
thanks DC...now looking.
does it builed off the to 6?
no, it builds on teh 7
ahhh, I have no sevens, none at all, so will loof for the seven!
any clue on the second to last LO 5? just before the "get rich quick ticket"?
change last letter pappa
oh jeez... thanks!!
yw
mmmm, salad night tonight...romaine hearts, shroomies, yellow pepper, cheese, croutons, basalmic vinegar and herb dressing, egg slices, chunks of boneless chicken breast and of course smokey bacon bits;0
the hard ones I can find... it's the words hiding right in front of my nose that I have trouble with ;)
sounds great crosshair! I just finished potato and onion pierogi. :)
mm perogies
I had salmon, asparagus and spinach and water rolls. very very satisfying.
i lie perogis
i boil the perogies for 7 minuets, then pan fry them nice and crispy in 2 tbs of olive oil
but now that the sun has gone down our temp is going too and I am getting cranky.
that's a great way to do them. If I don't fry them, I also like them baked, with justa brush of olive oil over them
poor red,was a nice day today and will be a mild -5c tonight
yes smooth, that also works very well
last 3 years or so,ive started using olive oil in many of my dishes
a litre of high quality cold pressed extra virgin oil lasts a long time
I'm a delicate flower. my thermostat says its 7o but I think it is lying.
if ou ever run across it, give grapeseed oil a try, too. it's also a really healthy one. and while I like the flavor of olive oil, sometimes it just doesn't go with what I want to eat. grapeseed oil has no flavor, and is so soft and light. I like using it now and then, too
ive yet to try grapeseed oil
but yeah, olive oil is a staple in my kitchen, too
I have never tried grapeseed oil. I liek Olive.
does grapeseed oil have a hish smoking point?
high
does it fry well or is it more for cold dishes
it does... well, a little hjigher than olive oil
it is 420 f (maybe about 215 c??)
ive gotten into oriental stir frys lately
ooh! those are fun to make!
and healthy!
peanut oil is recommended for stirfrying -- very high smoking point
peanut oil is a tad $$$$
yeah, the smoke point is something I have trouble with when I use olive oil, and grapeseed too, soetimes. I Mean, for a light sautee, both are fine, but sometimes I realy want to put the heat on, and neither one of them can handle a super high heat that well.
yes, then we have to bite the bullet and get peanut oil
peanut oil lasts a long time and you don't need much
i buy a roast beef and a roast pork, precook them and slice it all thin and lean and portion it out in freezer bags, some veggies, some oil and soya and boom! a nice dinner
or a nice sweet and hot sauce
freezer bags have got to be the greatest invention ever. ;)
indeed smooth
i use a straw and suck all the air out and seal it quick
I neI go to work really early, and just don't have the time or energy to cook a breakfast... so I pre-make my own breakfast burritos, and throw them in a freezer bag. take a couple to work, and microwave them,... it's sucha great quick breakfast
very nice..take out breakfast will kill you lol
sorry about the *nel* I thought I deleted it.
yea. lol both yor wallet and arteries.
I do that straw thing too
yes,it works well jilli
*needs to use freezer bags more often. Can I admit that I generally go to the grocery twice weekly. I am tying to reduce.
flosey does a lot of freezing and has a vacuum thingy to use on the bags
in 5 minutes,i can do a stir fry for 8 people, just need to run to the store for sakie
lots of rice wine:))))
crossy, don't you need to cook some rice too?
That's my thing red... I don't get to the grocery store nearly that often... so I'd be sunk without my freezer. lol
of course it goes with out saying..crossy LOVES rice
I think its my work schedule that allows it since I only owkr 3 times a week, thank goodness...its enough.
im trying to ease most of the junky prepared foods out of my diet:0
not easy
I am still a big fan of prepared soups. I just could never prepare all those different ones.
i got some stewing beef on sale, gonna make a soup tommorow\
and some nice sweet taters
Hi Everybody. How are you all tonight?
I made a great french onion soup last weekend. that's a favorite of mine.:)
Hi Nef, how are you? I am almost recovered from my last day at work.
ive always wanted to do a home made french obion soup for the mrs
Hey, smooth! Haven't seen you around for years!
hey nef!!! long time!
yeah, it's been a while. ;)
I have a recipe for such an easy orange-asparagus bisque that I make and freeze it quite often
how the heck are you?
i know the straw conversation was a while ago, but my mom used to par boil corn, cut it off the cob. She would put it in a freezer bag and use a straw to suck out the air
hi red; I'm gearing up for my week ahead. Was this your last day at the old job?
I'm doing well; smooth. How about you? What's new?
indeed luw,the more air you can get out,the better
No, it was just yesterday was rather difficult.
She did it with fresh green beans out of the garden. blanching them first
Hi Luwanda!
I got up today, walked the dog , drank a coffee, read a chapter of a book and fell right back asleep.
hello everyone. it's been a long time. lots and lots of school work
sounds wonderful red!!
I can't imagine anyone sucking the air out of a freezer bag. We used to always just flatten it out all the way. DH has one of those vaccuum sealers now
I suppose, but I really like to enjoy my days off upright and awake.
do you do 12 hour shifts, red?
her frozen green beans were the best. especially when she cooked them with a little bit of fatback
I do. If I could be more organizsed and not lose papers things would be fine!
oh man! where to begin? let's see... my job was pretty close to going under, but we sem to have pulled it up, So I'm still at the same place I was before, but I've gotten a couple of promotions in the mean time, so now I'm loving the pay, but never have a lack of things to keep me busy. lol I broke up with my fiancee (although, that may have happened before you last saw me) have ben dating a little, but so far nothing too serious.... but this new girl looks promising. :) Still photographing and cooking, new car (as of this last thursday)
I dont mind the twelve, but....
congrats on the new car smooth, what did you get?
still in Madison too?
new cars are fun!!
I got a 2008 mazda6. Ok ok.. not a brand new car, but new to me, and still pretty new.:)
I like the Mazda six, I almost bought one, after my protoge gave up the ghost.
Ended up with a non recalled toyota.
yup... still in madison, and still trying to travel when I can, but I don't have the time I used to
if it wasn't your previously i consider it new
We need a new car too; but right now it's just not going to happen
a non-recalled toyota? lol
No time? Does that mean you're busier than before?
yeah, definitely! a lot of it just has to do with the new jobs that I have at work.
I called to see about repairs to my 2009 Prius, and because mine was made in Japan, it is not part of the recall, I was thrilled. My Car is good.
we downsized about 2/3 of our staff over the last year and a half, so there is a lot of slack that needed to be picked up by the 18 of us left there.
red, is it only the cars made in the US that are being recalled?
Wow! More work and a promotion! Does that equal a raise or 2 also? :-)
apparently it was a problem in only the US manufactured ones.
you bet it does! since I last talked to you, I've nearly doubled my pay
of course I didn't start off vry high to begin with, but I can't complain now.;)
that's interesting. Does that mean they dumbed down the production here or cut corners?
smooth, that is awesome. I want a payraise!!! especially if I am going to have to chase down paper all day long...
and now, among other things, I am a staff photographer, so I am building a great portfolio for myself, too
im running a 2004 echo and i would buy another one in a hearbeat, other than one scheduled brake pad job and a single left tail light bulb,it has run flawlessly
red, I tell you... it was a scary few moments... I actually was laid off but before my last day, I got re-hired by another department. I'm glad for the pay, but getting to that point definitely caused a gray hair or two.
Yes, so many people struggling now....I have to admit I am rather insulated.
That's great news, smooth! :-D I had my first yearly evaluation about 2 weeks ago and was told they liked my work; but since I'm now working in the non-profit sector, I'll never get a raise
what is this company, smooth?
are you still in healthcare, nef?
I am hoping for one in about 8 weeks. but...
jili: I work for www.artfulhome.com
Hi, all!
hey pam!
PaM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! falls over in shock and delight.
things are still really tight here.you have to juggle 2 or 3 mc jobs to keep everything going
LOLOL, red. Hi, smooth!
I was here, and said hi, one day over the weekend, red.
My profile gives my down and dirty info, smooth. I had a workplace injury to my foot and can't do hospital nursing anymore. But I now runa prenatal program in a pregnancy resource center and am loving it (except for the low pay)
thanks, smooth -- my son is a photographer too: http://davidevansphotography.com/ if you're interested in fine art photography
Urgh, I was working a bit hard over the weekend. Apparently it exhausted me too much
hi pam!
Hi jilli! And pam! Where have you been?
us long time workers are scrapping with graduate students for entry level positions after losing jobs of 15 or 20 years
Pam tell me how you are, I have not talked to you since Paris.
thanks jili! I always like seeing others' work. and nef, that's quite a change! It's always a good thing to love your job, though
red, hasn't your hospital gone to electronic charting yet?
and crosshair, tell me about it! there are so many people vying for so few jobs!
only half way. the chart is electronic, the ED MAR is still on paper....
Truly, I am well! Without going into droning details, work has been really different since August. I am doing more, working more, and have less time to relax in my head. But now that i have adjusted, I am happy to be back here, where I belong!
Red, how is the new job?
I keep losing my MARS...and wasitng a lot of time trying to correct the chart days later.
It is good. People like me. Management likes me, MD's like me...
Did you hear about my lost car keys?
WOW! Your MARS aren't computerized? That was one thing that went hospital wide right off the bat when my old hospital went electronic
YAY, red!
do you work 12 hr days or nights, red?
Nope. At my old hospital...we had just gone to an eMAR. and CPOE.
I hate trying to decipher handwriting.
days
Pam did you see the Moon the other day, oh yeah we talked of it on FB.
I must go and get my next icon (it's bridge night so I have to have an early supper) -- the theme is Fairy Rings, suggested by Patxxx
? what are fairy rings?
google them, red! Rings in lawns...
smooth, I've always said that if you love your work the money will follow. I make just enough $$ right now to pay the bills and buy necessities and take the family out to brunch once or twice a month
I wasnt sure if I googled, if I would get jewlrey or something else!!
I love the moon, red, LOL
mushrooms that grow in circles in the yard. Some of them may be edible and some aren't
it was incredible. while I was going to work.
The moon was gorgeous last evening
I am always amazed that all over the earth we are all looking at the same Moon.
Couldn't see the moon here -- overcast skies -- but there was a glow to the cloud cover
hello all =)

I have to admit I'm spoiled sometimes, red.
It's good to be spoiled sometimes!
Here's a joke for you -- from enable? (see my description of enable in the profile):
i love your enable description jilli...
me too.
A Scotsman walking through a field, sees a man drinking water from a pool with his hand. The Scotsman man shouts ' Awa ye feel hoor that's full O' coos Sharn' (Don't drink the water, it's full of cow s ** t.) The man shouts back 'I'm English, Speak English, I don't understand you'. The Scotsman man shouts back 'Use both hands, you'll get more in.'
lol
funny.
love it jilli
I have been reading a book about a scottish family, and one of the sons is named Fenno. is that a common Scots name?
that's cute
I have no idea, red!
not common, I would say red
I was wondering, as I have a Scots ancestry and I was unaware of it as a name. Would have loved to name Teulu that....much easier for people to get.
not even included in a baby book of names which has plenty of Gaelic names
Maybe I shoudl look it up, I thought I'd ask on Babble since we have many people who actually live there.
We Americans are so diluted...
i just have to find 12 more words.
GO, red!!!! You can do it!
can I get help with the PO 6-7 combo?

I believ it's fairy rings for tomorrow, cj

Every word in Enable IS a word, or once was, if you care to look further than the definition, or, if there is no definition and you have some knowledge of language, it is possible to find out what words mean.
hey yell 10 year old is on
im sad
Should this be a troll alert then? Trolls are usually 10-years-old.
thinking so
what
Jacula, didn't look far, just for the defin and didn't look further
im sad
cj im sad
see ya at the flip
cjmomma im sad can u help
kenzie, we aren't baby sitters and you should talk to youor parents, not us. You were here last night; we are playing a game, not therapists
in
shutup nef that is a stupid name and grow up
you dont need to be rude
fireworks .. clues, anyone?
YAY, welki!!! WTG!!!
thanks
cjmomma - I hope you're in this game because you love words and what they mean, rather than being like some of those in the Scrabble championships who only look at the math(s) and the points and don't actually see the words or care what they mean.
Well done, welki.
No clues needed for me, welki - was done hours ago.
May I please have a clue for to7-32? Thanks
to + a jar top + not out
for the 8, add a vowel :)
i never know whether to give a definition or a "clue." i gave a definition before for a different word and got no reaction *lol*
Thanks a bunch, welki.
quite welcome, peach
to7/32 is a misspelling of a word for a type of oil used in the preparation of dyes, gap. To + consonant + 2-letter word for a lot of noise.
welki - definitions and/or clues depend on who's in the chog.
Thanks, Jacula.
evening, all
Me? I generally just post what suits me at the time.
Hi fuquay.
hi fuqu
y/w gap.
check this out, jac: http://www.lexic.us/definition-of/toli din (says the 7/32 spelling has been used since the 1800s)
i have no idea "who" lexic.us is, or where they've done their research. just a curious tidbit :)
help with bottom row P? have po6 x2 and po5
Can't see that link, Welki. but it doesn't surprise me that the word is older than you thought.
hells bells, i'm older than i thought!
po7/32 - double consonant in the middle version of moonshine.
po 7/32, add a middle consonant, po 5/12 is some kind of primate, but it sounds a whole lot like lo 5/10
fuqu, po7/32
thanks, jac. didn't think of that
and welki and nef!
thanks for the lo5 too!
like winning the .... well, you know
lol, yeah, got it
g'night folks
I've won the lo5 small time quite a lot in recent times, even picking up £120 on one occasion. Is this leadingup to a big win, I wonder?
'Night Welki.
night welki
More noughts on the end of the winning bit would be nice.
Not sure about that British couple who won half of the 56 million jackpot on Euromillions a couple of weeks ago. Don't know why, but I see 'disaster' in their future.
I suspect that kind of win does a lot of people more harm than good, jac
Me, too, fuqay. I think you need a certain mindset to deal with that kind of win, and I suspect the 'lucky couple' don't have that.
I could take the money off their hands and help them..
I was talking to my newsagent about this lottery winning stuff last week. I said that if we ever won big time, we'd tick the box for No Publicity. He told me that doing that renders you helplesss is family members speak about it., 'You can't tell your sid of the story and they'll get paid for telling lies'. He also said, that in a small village like ours, word will get around, agsain the story not told by you.
Was he asking for a payoff to not say the winners came from his shop?
He IS the youngest son of 5 from a Sikh family, one daugeter before him. He does tend to watch the pennies more than his two older brothers do.
Sorry for the bad spelling. It's late and I am tired.
Oh, well, I see everyone has gone, nobody needs clues and so it'stime I hit the hay. 'Night all.
