speaking of tea and cookies... was at a meeting tonight and had the very best scones I have ever tasted in my life... moist, not dry, one batch had cranberries and macadamia nuts oh my!!
Oh! Did the icon theme change? I thought it was fairy rings!

yes west - some I had in the freezer from Christmas!

I meant dee's scones but homemade cookies are good too hate the store bought kind
that's desperation west
I don't mind them, but they sure are in a different category
I love scones
Just checked the icon theme and it IS fairy rings
lol
dee I don't think I've ever had a scone that wasn't dry
I sure haven't... local deli / sandwiche shop makes them every day
I love scones too -- with Devonshire cream and strawberry jan
I just remembered I have some oatmeal raisin cookies in the freezer
making me hungry
*jam
I had that once in England what a treat

tr 7
lol, Jilli, I'm a month late!!
I wondered what that was
must have missed it in Feb. because it wasn't familiar to me
got it by accident
it is a term used for buying futures of bordeaux
this is March isn't it?
had to really search to find something I'd use - certainly not my taste
thanks ruru now I know
lol west, afraid I'm dragging my feet here
the first tr7 is the best price you can get on the market
flosey I meant this is March oh no where did the time go

jilli I won't have to get it cut for awhile
we watched Moir and Virtue again tonight so beautiful
If you can have henchman, why not hench??
my question too Christine
good question, christine
west, I could watch them over and over -- such grace and expression
she is exquisite
he's not so bad either ;)
remember Torville and Dean? not sure if that's the right spelling
no he's not bad but she is beauty personified
heard they've been together since 7 and 9
Still have that odd picture for my icon ...
did dart leave? I missed him going
west, I heard that a Brit skating expert agreed that we now have our own Torvill and Dean -- actually he said we have our own Bolero
oh Christine I love that cat picture
jilli that is so true
I'd forgotten they skated to Bolero I remember now
I agree with you about her beauty
I didn't care for the silver medal winners they were good but too much athletics
I hope they keep the compulsory dance (they talk about eliminating it) -- otherwise I worry that it will become too althletic and more and more like pairs
they must remember it's ice DANCE
I hope so too I didn't realize they were talking about eliminating it
yes, they would reduce the competition to just two events instead of the present three :(
who decides?
the Internationsl Skating Federation or something, I guess
oh not the host country
I heard Russia was not too pleased with their athletes
they aren't used to losing
I just got out my 1951-2 CFSA Official Rulebook from my dip into ice dancing, and it says it's a member of the International Skating Union -- but that was a long time ago
neener neener neener
you were an ice dancer? how wonderful
At the closing ceremonies, Michael Buble (?) sang a song I rememberr we sang at Commonwealth Day celebrations - "The Maple Leaf Forever". Such a pretty soing.
that was the best part
at first I thought he must be a real Mountie
I know, if I just enter it at theb right speed, I can get Heaven into the grid.
I have reached my goal. 100 words without the list I now bid you adieu
Bonsoir, dorme bien.
good luck Christine I tried that too
The original words to the Maple Leaf Forever are very un PC!
should that be dormir?
Frere Jacque jilli and Christine
and that's my French until we meet again
Et la petit bergere to you.
A bientot? or A tout l'heure.
Merci
did you wish me a little burger?
no, I think it should be dormez -- (Frere Jacques, frere Jacques, dormez-vous? dormez-vous?)
I think I'm going to take French lessons, at night school.
Yeeessss dormz.
lol good night ladies
What a good idea, christine! I wish the Vanoc CEO had taken some -- his French pronunciation was appalling!
he nursery rhymes we learned at school -- the little shepherdess, qui gardez ses moutons, ron-ron.
What is Vanoc?
Oh, Vancouver Olympic Committee?
Yes
ha, monkeyed all the Ks
oh -- didn't realise west had left us!
can anyone clue me the en and tr 7's plz
en7 is like a town in California (diff vowel at the end, and pl)
I don't have the tr7, sorry!
HELP!!! I is in Oz
I was afraid of that (I'm in Canada)
lol jilli

gd morning everybody or should I say bon jour! All that French in the chat!!!
hi ruby -- you must be the French expert around here
I get along because I have to and nobody in our village speaks English except for the snowbirds who only are here a little
IS YOUR HUBBY fRENCH?
sorry -- hit a wrong key
no, he's American; we're retired here
does he get along in French too?
and he's shy, so I have to do all the communicating
why did you retire there? (Nosy parker, moi)
we lived in Miami, were looking for a new start (previous marriages, etc.), I had always loved France, this place is gorgeous AND, it was affordable
it wouldn't be now!
morning
hi katie
roan

hello Katie
whoops, pb for me, hope there's more coffee
good morning everyone:)
hi crossy
morning crossy you are up early/late
hi crossy -- insomnia?
indeed jilli
Rubyfoo, are you in Vendee area? La tr7 sur mer is in the south of Vendee. So, is this synchronicity?
no, we're in the south east, NE of Lyon and straight south of Geneva. In mountains, so no problems here, but thank you for asking
I'm off to bed -- 36 left and sleeeepy! Goodnight all!
I think the Vendee is pretty flat
nite jilli
have a good night jilli
And I thought I'd finally found an occasion to use synchronicity ...
g'nite jilli
I'm impressed!!
Sleep tight, Jillibus.
nite jilli
only heard it in a song -- The Police maybe?
and *poof*

0oops, killed the chat.
Sorry, hi all. Am eating breakfast so try not to chat then because of new keyboard!
naw,im still here.just trying to get more than 50% for a change lol
I'm stuck at 61, so I think I'll get a cuppa, and read a book. Goodnight, all.
gn christine
mm..just tucking into a nice cuppa myself;))
hello again my friends!
hi flosey
oh crossy, you had to mention that, I'd love a cup of coffee
Evening/morning all
hi there FMitch
Hi FM
Greetings :)
After a very frosty and foggy start the sun is coming through and the crocus are just showing their colour.
Very hard frost here, but no fog this morning. Slight signs of primroses here as well. The snowdrops are fantastic this year.
Lovely! and the clocks go forward at the end of the month, all is well with the world :)
Does anyone have all the Ks? I am missing one. I have ka 4 and 5, ke 4, 4, 6, kn5 and kv 4. Anyone know what is missing?
Fraid not Sally , have been working rather than babbling, shameful I know :(
Oh! Just found it. Another ka4.
ka4.8 Sally - at the start
Hello all
If I remember any Dutch, sprite will get that one :-)
sally, you're missing a kar
Evening lynxxx
TY, lynxxx, had just got it.
oops, that's ka4
howdy fm,sally,linxx et al;)
hey there crossy :)
hallo crossy
how is the grid today?
seems OK
It's not too bad FM. I'm trying a less scatter-fun approach today and trying to finish each square in turn rather than just bang them in where I see them!
will dive in then
rofl. I like scatter-fun, sb scatter-gun of course!
Everyone has their own way of tackling the grid - I work backwards
I try to do the vowels first, 'cause I'm useless at them
Good morning/evening all.
Usually I try to do the corners first because there are fewer permutations.
morning Haz
Hallo Haz
Is this where we give our babble approach? I try to start off doing one letter at a time but it goes to pot as soon as I spot another word coming from another letter.
Good morning Haz!
I do it all in a higgledy-piggledy mess. I have ADD, I'm sure.
Hello Ata!
and Morning Ata too!
Good morning, Ata with query ADD.
and hi :D
I usually do it higgledy-piggledy, but then I miss obvious plurals and so on.
Im sure the waywe tackle the grid would say lots about our traits :)
Have you any other symptoms, Ata, or just the babble higgledy piggledy?
You know, the hi-pi phrase is very difficult to type!
Just saw an old DrWho I had not seen before Ata. Was it the 1st JB one, the one with the gasmask 'virus'?
hmm. my mother used to call me a butterfly cos I couldn't concentrate on 1 thing for more than 5 minutes. Do you think it's serious? Should I go to the doctor? lol
ohhh that one is freaky, I don't like it!
that was a scarey one!
(Making note, definitely don't watch the Dr Who Gas Mask virus edition)
I hate hate hate gas masks. I think it's being asthmatic, the thought of being enclosed like that is horrid
We saw the special gas mask that the telephonist in the War Cabinet rooms had, so that even in the event of a gas attack, she could keep working. Can you imagine?
good heavens
I know -talk about going above and beyond the call of duty.
how did that work?
I don't know, to be honest, but it had an interesting green filter thing on the end.
ooo!
Got to go, cleaning lady is here and I need to get her to help me move some stuff.
So, here's an entry for the most inappropriate vet emergency call. Vet answers the phone on Christmas Day. Lady informs him that she had bought her son some exotic pet for Christmas. 'The light on the tank has stopped working.' 'Madam, you need an electrician.' 'Yes, but they'll not be open for a few days.'
waiting for reaction from Haz......
bye FM
omg!!
lol Haz
It's okay, lynxxx, I've taken my calming pills to help me get over the Tuesday shock. Have fun, FM!
There are some pretty horrendous 999 ambulance cals as well.
'your' vet Haz?
This was one of the vets we met in London. They have a system where the phone goes through to their mobile. He was in the middle of calving a cow at the time and was NOT amused.
ooo yes, tales must have abounded over the weekend!
It got quite technical at some points, you don't get vets together without hearing about their triumphs and disasters.
I'm wondering if FM has found her camera lead yet. Maybe that's what she and the cleaning lady will dedicate themselves towards this morning.
Were these official meetings or was it just you were all at the same places?
We were together for meal times and split up for theatre visits and going to the rugby - we didn't have any lectures or anything like that, it was strictly leisure (thank goodness).
Who was doing the treating, Haz? Was it a drug company?
We had some free time on the Saturday morning and couples tended to split up and do whatever they fancied.
Yes, Sally, a local drug company arranges a trip every year and it was our turn in the practice to go this year.
I know quite a few doctors have these treats. Friend of mine used to work for a drug co that organised them.
How did Mr Haz like meeting your babble buddies?
He seemed to cope fine!
he thought we were wonderful, of course!
A man of discernment then, Ata.
He probably didn't realise that they knew as much about him as they did, but there was no shortage of chat from any of them.
He and FM bonded over birds and he and Ata bonded over fish and dogs.
I would have thought he and Ata would bond over dogs.
he really is *lovely*
He's such a discerning man, Sally, I mean, he married me!
I have a feeling he's spoken for, Ata.
I know, but FM told him straight out that she liked him!
meant to say yesterday, I saw 2 gorgeous Welsh springers at the beach. Maybe mum and pup, cos the little one was following the big one around devotedly!
I wish I could move that letter R next to the E, I would get so many more words.
Welsh pups are really cute!
Watching Top Gear, such silly guys and so entertaining!
they were gorgeous. there's something about all spaniels that just makes you want to smile at them
FM, she's bit forward then?
She was just speaking her mind!
ooo! she didn't say what her dr said!
What did he say? (Is is a he?)
I don't know! she didn't say!
can't have been that bad though, I suppose, if she's helping move stuff around
But her appointment was at 8.30 and she's home, so at least we know she's not been carted off for amputation or anything.
yes, that's a relief
Maybe she'll come back and tell us. We need to know.
she has other priorities now. Cleaning ladies etc
And she didn't mention anything about crutches or a cane either, so that's good as well.
bet he didn't say to help boxes around!
My trouble if I had a cleaning lady would be that I would have to clear up and clean before she came :-(
Absolutely, Sally. But FM's happy - the cleaning lady puts her toilet paper into points, she's obviously used to working for the best.
What? Like in a hotel!
Morning all......Another fabulous day....weather ways I mean!
yep!! LOL!
hi Flask
Yes! It's made me feel quite slovenly in comparison.
Good morning, Flask - another sunny morning here as well, but still frosty.
Hi Flask.
Oh yes...here too....but sooooo bright n sunny!!!
D now wants a cleaner again *sigh*
Of course, it doesn't prove that she has cleaned the bathroom, just handled the toilet paper.
Oh, but everything was sparkling once she had finished, FM said, so she's thrilled with her. The pointy toilet paper was the icing on the cake.
yay for pointy loo roll!
I have a very grumpy cat at the moment, I had to stop her using her main scratching post because she was rapidly killing it - the newel rail on the stairs - I put carpet round it and she is most discontent. I put a new piece of wood for her to use next to it, but that is No Good
Of course it's No Good. Its not what she wants.
exactly. she sits and stares at the post she likes, looking mournful and mistreated
lol Ata. Have you tried putting catnip where you want her to scratch? Cannabis for cats.
Does she complain to Hobbit in low murmurings of discontent?
she doesn't like catnip *facepalm* stupid cat
She's obviously a contrary cat.
quite probably. not that Hobbit would take any notice
*Shock* Ours go totally wanton over it. I'm sure I never taught them such ways.
she's the only cat I know who doesn't go batty over the stuff!
That's your answer then, spray catnip on the newel rail
Maybe she had a bad experience with catnip when she was younger. You should get her regressed to find out, I'm sure you'd find somebody willing to charge you thousands to do it. Look for Cat Whisperer in Yellow Pages.
looooooool good idea!
Lateral thinking lynxxx!
wonder if oriental cats have less reaction? does catnip grow in the orient?
We'll have to google for the answer.
Catnip tea was popular before importation of tea from the orient.
So, does that mean that it grows in Euorope and not in the orient, or just that the orientals didn't bother exporting it since the Europeans had it already?
"I did read somewhere that oriental cats tend not to react to it but I haven’t seen evidence of this firsthand"
well it's a mint ... so I think we had it over here ...
Have we any oriental babble cats?
maybe Sily would like nice green tea instead
only Sily, I think, and she's only half. But she's very very much more like her Burmese mum than farm cat dad in looks and temperament and everything
will ask best friend. She has a Siamese.
Don't forget to let us know. Has the Siamese got an appropriately exotic name?
ermmmmmmmm no. "Trouble". Because he is.
That's what our neighbours opposite called their dog!
is he a brat too?
He's dead! No more trouble/Trouble.
my least favourite words are the A's...and I just can't see the as/5 at all....any clues please?
They've got a new little dog called Dugald, a cross between a terrier, a collie and who knows what, but such a funny little dog.
as5/10 - as plus the Governess for the King of Siam, minus a consonant.
as5 ends like curved yellow fruit
yoga pose....good morning everyone
thanx Haz and lynxxx....peculiar word!!!
Good morning, Eva.
You're welcome, Flask.
Hi Eva
Morning Eva!
there. refresh my icon for a pic of Trouble looking bratty!
yes, the a's are atrocious, anathema, awkward.
He looks positively menacing, Ata.
he's huuuuge as well. about 23lb. but really he's the biggest crybaby ever
I wouldn't be trying to get him out of that box, that's for sure.
is he part Maine Coon?
we think so, Eva
he was part of a litter best friend found, we think we know who his mom is, but no idea about dad
with that size it's likely...also pointed, tufted ears, tufted paws, rear legs/feet like rabbits, square body, very dog like in behavior....follow you from room to room
yep, we're pretty sure he is, to some extent. What extent, we'll never know, but he's just huge, follows you around, he doesn't have real Maine Coon tufts though
Is he following, or stalking?
felt terrible yesterday....was trying to clip Merp's claws and he moved just at the wrong moment (despite being wrapped in a towel and held by a very strong man) and I cut the quick. Never done that before Felt like an axe murderess, but 5 minutes later all was forgiven.
both I think!
poor Eva! You feel SO bad, don't you
And now that we both have ptsd I'll probably have to have the vet do it.
There are advantages to having a vet in the house! He can do all the medicating etc without a thought.
or use an emery board, if Merp is patient
At the vet's he just sort of goes limp and growls, but gives up the homicidal maniac bit
Atalante...that gave me a wonderful laugh. Exactly how much blood do you want me to donate?
ohhhh like *that* is it?
The clue is in the 'homicidal maniac' description...
oh yes
I have thought about IV valium...for one or the other of us
Ewww - another oldie...the Torchwood where people's arms turn into stabbing thrusting weapons....s'awful
lynxxx - where did that come from?!
lynxxx, you shouldn't be watching this stuff before going to bed, you'll have nightmares.
I think Babble is marginally less stressful, lynxxx
can you tell I am watching UKTV
it's a good episode though
Is Aus TV less gory?
tried it once for about 5 minutes. Much too dark for me. I'm back to watching reruns of the West Wing and pretending it's our real government.
We don't have the money for such high tech stuff Haz
Of course the realistic thing about the West Wing was that as much as you loved the characters, their administration was rarely able to get anything done either. But they were so witty and sweet while being thwarted that you didn't really care.
38 left down and have hit a wall
me too, at 25
just got the melon, so 37
The melon? Worried look. Have 18 to find here.
ca6/30
Ah, have that one. Didn't recognise it as melon.
I think its a melon?
Probably, know it's a fruit.
oh that! it's a root, I think
you're right
or at least it's a root when it has a double S lol
'TIs a root according to the dictionary, both spellings okay.
*smug* LOL
isn't it the thing you get manioc from?
and the poison stuff in the Amazon?
Same family.
Must be off for an appointment. 12 to go so will be back later to finish. See some of you later.
curare! that's the stuff
The stuff in blow darts? Or am I thinking of something else?
See you later, Sally.
bye Sally
yep, that stuff
bye Sally!
Good morning
Good morning, Mudd.
hi Mudd
hi mudd
I'm heading in the direction of the ironing board - any clues required before I go?
not yet, ty!
not for me thanks Haz, see you tomorrow
That's grand - off I go!
Bye! (and sleep well, lynxxx, don't have nightmares about UK nasties)
*gone*
hi ata and lynxxx
bye to haz's fleeting shadow.....
can anyone tell me what the third letter of the en7 is?
Hi Ruby but bye, off to bed. Night all
bye lynxx, hi eva
never mind-found it
hi ruby
i only have a en6! :(
aaah, plural
yes indeed
Morning!
morning, red!
How is everyone?
Or how are you Fuquay, as you are the only one here!
I'm good! In New Orleans for a work trip, but have an easy day, so enjoying sitting in bed babbling.
and you?
That sounds very fun! good food!
Well, it is pouring rain with high winds, goo day to stay in and babble!
Yes, looking forward to that part!
that's what it was like when I arrived here yesterday. almost hurricane-ish and I wondered if it makes the natives nervous
though by now they must have had enough storms since Katrina to be somewhat desensitized, I'm sure
I think they know the difference.
When I first moved to Florida some of the storms made me nervous....
but then people told me that I would know right away if it was really hurricane winds....
yes, there is definitely a difference, but I wonder about PTSD-like symptoms when people have gone through a really traumatic one
I dont know. High winds with rain always makes me nervous.
For certain. I bet for children especially!
we lived in florida for awhile when I was a child, and I'll never forget one storm when my parents were debating about whether we should evacuate. We lived just a couple of blocks in from the gulf.
It is always a bit iffy, I think with storms. Glad I live in Central Fl, we have a few miles protections on both sides!
must dash now, stopped raining and dog is begging to go out! HAGD!
bye!
hello babble friends.
does anyone have a clue for the top middle a? Need it for NBT, please
hi trif I think you might do this for your sins
at5/10 make amends

The cardinals are mating and I hear the robins in the morning.
Beautiful day here today!

Tee Hee! BBL!

There probably are some Canadians who are mating.

Hopefully not in my back yard, however.

A happy worker.

Well, it is a psychiatry office, nobody suspects a thing.
that is funny!
rofl Gail
The joy of working for myself and working from home I can babble or not and if I do a crappy days work I fire myself and then start again in the morning.
lol FM
Do you ever dock your pay, FM
Oh, I quit at least once a week, but the doctor won't let me. She knows I babble during the day.
Oh yes serverly but then give myself a payrise (occasionally) to make up for it.
your company Christmas party must be very quiet.
And you have no one to blame stuff on.
lol hego
ROFL, I get to go to clients Christmas and summer parties so not complaining.
give yourself an extra long lunch break today FM you deserve it!
robbie I like your doggies. Where do you live in US?

Hi Peri.

In all my travels to the States never managed to make it to New York :(
Hello peri!
It's my favorite GO
hi peri
I love flower paintings.
I love Georgia O'Keefe, I also have a copy of her sunflower painting
I always buy calendars of her flowers.
How is everyone finding this grid?
good so far;-)
I is okay so far, have 58 words
Peri you're an ace.

Somehow I have just stumbled over fireworks. It is an OK grid with a few head scratchers.
yay FM!!
could use a nudge re the 7's pls
wtg FM!
YAYYY!!! FM. Also an ace.
tr7/36 = take the tr6/21 and add a cons before the last letter

staring at this grid I'm in a tr6
ty Fm but don't have the en6 either :( will keep looking
good clue. ty Robbie
lol yes thats the word robbie, was stuck thinking of a clue for that
ty FM and robbie, got the tr6 and tr7
The en6/7 is the Californian live oak apparently.

one would question why live oak as opposed to dead oak?
really
Yay for FM! Congrats! Just starting here.. high winds, driving rain.. good morning to babble!
lol FM

hello everybody
Yes, it was great. Very moving.
hi ruby
Hi Ruby
hi ruby
bbl
what's the book about hego?
it's a telling of the lives of black women domestics and they're employer in the south in the early sixties.
hi robbie and hego and aloy
It's told in the first person.
I reached 75 words before, but that is probably it for me. It's nice to see you all, however
sounds good hego
Good work, Ruby. you'll get more.
I'll check amazon for it
hello everyone
hi annie
ruby, you can do it! Morning, Annie
go ruby!
hi ruby, how is Max?
Robbie, as soon as you pick it up you're into it. From the first page.
hi annie
Hi Annie
Hi robbie, hego
he still has bald patches, but is biting himself less and seems calmer. on second course of antibiotics
The Help was a very good book
vet said he is doing fine
Poor Maxie
this should be the OLBBRG
ruby, glad to hear that..hope it completely clears up soon
?? explain, please
it's funny, because Ruby has the best coat the vet has ever seen -- same diet, same house
oh dear ruby glad he is doing better
OLBBRG?
Official Lady Babblers Book Review Group
lol ruby
lol, Ruby. you're right
Oh, can I join?
yes indeed
I'm always looking for a good book to read!
You already are.
it's really great when we discuss books (and gardens and pets)
I take notes, lol... don't want to forget the suggestions
Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close by Jonathan Safran Foer is one of the best books I've EVER read
hi Aloy
Dorens, too, recommends it
Now reading The Book of Fires.
also The History of Love by Nicole Krauss (JSF's wife, BTW). Both are so wonderful that I immediately re-read each of them
howdy Annie.. (-:
who wrote the Book of Fires?
About a farm girl in England. Late 1800's. Gets pregnant and runs away to London. Very good so far. Very Dickensian.
*taking note frantically*
I just wrote down the titles of the books, thanks ruby
I'd have to look Ruby.
back again and greetings to those that have come in since i was rudely interrupted by the phone.
there are two more by JSF, one on vegitarianism which is on order and the other Everything is Illuminated
lol
Hi FM..I see you are enjoying your garden
hello FM, the book club is meeting
*taking notes*
Grand!
hego promised me that spring would come and it is starting!!
such a joy Annie.
Not for me :-(
I pruned the hydrangeas this afternoon
hego still has snow??
Yup, but melting now.
but I'll have a handyman for the rest of the work
who wrote The Book of Fires?
brb.. refill time.. I'll bring the pot (coffee pot that is, lol)
Me too. I'm married to him. lol
we have lots of snow on the ground here in NY
lol hego
Wait I'll look
does anybody remember the line from Bye bye Miss American Pie "who wrote the book of love and who has faith in God above?....."
my sister lives in NY
they use it as movie theme music very often
I do
I remember the song
Jane Borodale wrote the Book Of Fires
rubyfoo .. one of my all-time favorite songs
me too mongie, takes me way back in time just to read th lyric.
me, too, mongie
thank you so much hego! *writing that down*
yw
I can't let my husband into the flower beds as he refuses to learn what not to step on. He is in charge of the grass and the fishpond
that song was popular when I was in high school
just curious ... does anyone know the median age here?
Good delegating Ruby.
sounds like a sensible set up ruby.
lol ruby
robbie ... same here
what we'll admit to, or the actuality?
We NEVER speak of age here Mongie. ;-)
We have babblers from 10 to late 80's
I'm retired, if that's a clue.....
ok ... just curious
there was just an article in the French Saturday magazine about ageing and it suggested word games -- no kidding, Sherlock
I'm close to retirement
I just turned 29 again;-)
'lol robbie
hahah robbie
I think you're the median age, then. lol
I decided to age gracefullly (ish)
rubyfoo ... the article suggested word games in what respect to aging?
I'm just disappearing
keeping the brain active and preventing Alzheimer's
but we all knew that!!!
ah
word games and activities like Soduku are very good for keeping the brain stimulated.
I understand that it is helpful to keep learning new things
cheers for brain stimulation!
I've been doing sudoko for several months, but am better at scrabble...
That just doing the same things over don't do anything to ward of senility
Actually, Ruby kepping the brain active will not word off AD if you're so disposed, but wikk ward off senility. Good enough I say.
uh oh, somebody has opened the bar prematurely so I'd better go. See you all later
close enough, Hego
Bye ruby
bye rubyfoo ... nice chatting
Now if I could only keep my l's and k's straight.
bye ruby
I thought the article was sort of stupid but, after all, the French are about 20 yrs behind in medical info
very nice mongie
bye robbie
happy bartendig Ruby
if any more good books come up, somebody pls send me an e-mail!!
where are you in the world mongie?

Thank you, robbie ... I am still trying to decide if I want to fully commit here! I keep checking it each day, but run out of words pretty early in the game!
yum blueberry bagels!
Mongie, have you checked the clues?
mongie - be warned Babble can be very addictive.
hego ... I have checked the clues .. though, it has taken me a while to understand what the letters and numbers mean
a happy addiction!
Bit like 'Hotel California' you can enter but never leave :)
FMitch ... yes, I know it can be addictive! I actually play on wordsplay ... faster boggle game, some chatting
The clues in lickety are a big help.
'lol, FMitch
lol FM

I fear I am going to have to fully commit here ... seems an affable group
gosh yes
Who's Scarlet?
never figured out why she dropped off the radar screen.. really enjoyed chatting with her
Oh, we're affable alright.

hi red
crimefighting my ass. they overthrow gov'ts and handle black ops
Thank you for the enthusiastic welcome. :)
DC....manners....
no idea, seain!
hi, red, mongi. jmc, soodle, et all.
redturtle ..when I figure out how, I will get an icon. :)
and a clue for the en 6 please.
oooh that "crime" fighting unit
I am with dc on that one
Sorry! I didn't know how else to clue it. I'm not too well up on US politics. I get my info off the TV!!
a city in california red
well, i'll point out i did get it from your clue, but most would go for FBI from that clue
there are instructions in the My Account section
I couldn't do my icon' ata did it for me!
heck i was looking for swat!
think of NCIS as a crime fighting unit!!!!
how many letters in ae, soodle?
ae5
ahem I will pass red
a city in Calidornia. LA, redwood, arcadia....
5, Ruby.
ok, I've put the monkeys to work
it obviously starts with en red
Oh lordy, lordy. Look what I started!!
they found it! thank you
lol its okay soofle
yes, and I dont know it.
the floor keeps shaking. They're testing heavy artillery at Quantico today. I'm at my sisters - she lives a couple miles N of Quantico.
that's like the plaque in Harper's Ferry morning the deaths of the Pinkertons who were murdering union workers
at least you're not in chile!
My Mom gets odd sensations when they are flying the super secret jets over he house.
you would hear the booms in arlington dc -- its been on the radio all morning
true that, ruby
since she is deaf in one ear, she somehow now can feel some vibrations and such...
we get very lkow-flying jets over lake Annecy and since the French don't ever fight, what exactly are they doing that low? Lower than my house!
interesting, jmc
very glad not to be chilean. WE should all (all who drink that is) buy more chilean wine.
that's low*, not kow
and I hear them after they've passed!
Why are some lock images on profiles blue, and some are pink?
depends whether or not you specify your gender
male and female
they closed the pool abruptly right after I got out, the state health inspector was there. which makes me think I am about to get a skin fungus!!!!
if one specifies a gender
when the harrier hawks fly over my house trembles
grey if not specified, and/or profile not public
actually I'm a very tall, weight-lifter guy! lol lol
Oh ... since I did not specify, mine is grey! Guess I could change that! lol
so dc did you see how the catholic charities dealt with same -sex marriages in DC so they could keep getting money?
lol, ruby
Oooh its gray! I always thought it was a deep forest green....
no, i've not heard - should i check wtop?
Oh No jmc....curious.
what did they do? didn't see it in the paper
i dont watch t.news, how did chillie fare with that earthquake?
they are canceling all medical and other benefits for future spouse of staff
well, badl cross hair, it was a large quake.
at least that's equal for all
well, that makes them much less attractive to work for!
thus having a religious reason to sa$$ money on the back of their employees
i usually buy the sunday newspaper oce a week to keep up on world news, but it has been 3 weeks this time
I think they are up to about 600 dead in chile crossy
that is rotten!
good afternoon from sunny Ottawa!
:((((
howdy eno
is spring there yet, enomis?
no no in these financial times you do what you can to keep afloat
hi eno
hi, eno
lol if i have 3 feet of snow, eno should have 4
nbt btw
that is so like catholic charities, sadly.
going back to work for a while
you helped me achieve that, jmc!
work?
so much for the love and turning of other cheeks that Jesus taught. Some Xian example for them to be setting.
*hands crossy a snow shovel and eno a snowblower*
njoy, jmc
actually, I miss work.... :((
how is everybody?
i do too, ruby.
glad to help ruby
*poof*
*pokes head back in* you could always come volunteer dc ;-)
*poof*
i've thought about it, jmc, and may in the near future :)
Testing to see if I have an icon ...
We are good enomis. jmc is on lunch, ruby is telling us she is a weightlifter and I am afraid my pool gaveme the plague.
Mongie has an ICON!
Success!
hi to all - my computer froze, had to reboot, not ignoring anybody :)
red your pool gave you the plague???
Well, I was swimming, and suddenly, we were all told to stop...and the health inspector has closed it for the day, everyone very closed lipped on what is wrong.
you got borneo jungle fungus from that pool of yours again red?
a lovely light green leafy one at that, mongie
mine froze also. just kidding about being a big boy!
I do like Mongies icon.
thank you ... it is a white orchid ... doesn't show up the best, though ... hmmmm ...
oh no - well if it can console you, we still have snow here, no danger to catch anything in a frozen pool!
wash yourself down with betadine red lol
I may have to shower again in that hibiclens. but in general I figure if it doesnt kill me I will be stronger.
where are you, red?
Hi everyone
Hey! Mongie's gone pro! Welcome!
hi seaspray
howdy seaspray
Hi All
one of my sister's cats hops onto the fridge and wallks across a valance to above cabinets, to a recess at ceiling level. bro-in-law built platforms to let cat get past beams, and to go over the gable windows, to another turn-around-platform.
hi, hego and sea
florida. its very windy today and chilly but nothing like the great white north.
howdy hego
lol ... thx, hego
Hi Hego. Love the poppy!
yw Mongie. Hi Crossy.
tx Red
Since babbleland is a wealth of knowledge I have a question.
let it rip
well, red ... let's see ... snow, or plague .. gee, I just can't decide ... lol
Does anyone know anything about Vitamin D deficiency?
also had to reboot, poopy server
yes?
indeed, sea. s'up?
I think it can make you depressed and if no vit D very hard to absorb calcium
lol,of course i do,in canadina, have not seen sun since october lol
But DC probably knows more!
bones get fractious
LOLOL Mongie! I hate cold!
right, not enough sunlight
and 20 minutes of outside sun could help you get more...
common in winter.
get s un lamp with uv bulb
tom has vit d deficinceny due to lack of sun thanks to meds. It causes fragile bones, inability to metabolize calcium, depression, and some other symptoms.
in the US they enrich whole milk with vitamin D, but not here.....
what are the symptoms?
lay down under it with the hosseplants
good idea Crossy. lol
lol
besides depression I mean
and doc can prescibe weekly supplements after a simple blood test
osteoporosis
calcium deficiency can cause muscle pain and cramps
Ok, i just picked up the supplements, so I guess I am good to go
nausea?
and as Ruby said
not usually
I think the supplements may cause you nausea.
doc can prescribe much higher doses depending on level of depletion
Hmm.. Don't know about that one.
ok, he told me to take 2,000 IU's per day
lovely orchids mongie
but im serious, get a plant grow light and put it by your favorite reading chair
that's typical for a while
very fatiqued also
sounds okay.
what about drinking enriched dairy products, seaspray?
enriched OJ too
I hate to sound like a total idiot, I know its really cold up there, but once it gets less cold, spending time out side will really help
I am willing to try anything at this point
we had actual sun yesterday!! everyone just stood still and looked up like a bunch of sunflowers lol
I do spend time outside when the weather is fit
it is very hard to get extra D from food
lol funny crossy
so I have heard ruby
red is right, sunlight is the best cure, unless there is some other problem causing the deficiency.
there is a chocolate calcium/D supplement in chewable form, but I couldn't stand the texture, thought it would make my fillings flal out.
$4.99..get the grow light......
what else would cause it?
I found that once I started swimming in the outdoor pool that things got better. I find though on my days off I spend maybe 5-6 hours actually outside each day.
Listen to the crosster. lol
DIL bought it for me
well Sea, the horrid winter weather might cause me to be exhausted!
there's a big correlation between vit D deficiency adn MS, but I think you'd know if you had that!
as long as it doesn't make me grow crossy, I will
question .. on lickety's clues ... is the last number listed the point count of the letters involved in the word? (i.e. ke6,30 ... 30 being the points?)
hello ata
My cousin has MS, it has been a difficult road for her and family.
yes
lol red,its the creepy crawlies living in your pool making you tired
thank you all for your valuable info
right Mongie
and hi :)
thx
Hi Ata
I am not tired! if I had to live in a place with snow...I'd be so depressed and tired.
my best friend has MS, we've been learning allll sorts of things recently!
howdy ata!
are those orchids mongie?
Seaspray, I hope you feel much better soon.
red ... my daughter was diagnosed with MS a few months ago ... still considering treatment alternatives
I had an uncle with MS, and i ha4 several friends with it.
my wifes aunt had ms for 33 years;((
ty red, i am sure I will
Ata, if she needs any help/advice, I can put you all in touch with my cousin via FB. She is a font of information. She is, however, not doing as well as I had hoped.
ruby ... yes, they are white orchids
beautiful!
ty! shes doing really well at the moment, luckily. she had her 6m MRI yesterday and no new lesions / nothing new, so that's good. Her dr wants her to take part in a study about phosphorus levels
I know several with MS as well, young women, very debilitating at times
in his old house, before we were married, my husband grew orchids in the courtyard and in his shower!
indeed seaspray
anybody has clues for the 2 7 words
miami, though, very warm
en7 is plural
town in california
ty dc
lol ruby ... I am attempting to grow orchids ... have had mild success over the last year
and plural
I worry as My cousin has 3 kids and her hubs lost his job in December.
I think misting is the key
urf, not easy :(
oh my red, that is terrible
oh, that's hard, red. :/
red ... my daughter also has 3 kids, she works full-time days, hubby works full-time nights ... never see eachother ... like being single parents :(
that is so sad, red!
It really is hard, to know what to do or say. She is a very smart woman, but can not work because she has balance trouble and terrible vision trouble.
ruby ... I know orchids do like humidity ... the shower was probably a good place to grow them
does she take vit D supplements?
red ... so sorry to hear your cousin has such trouble. I think the only thing you can really do is be there for her
my uncle spent 40 years in a wheel chair and 30 of them with manual controls on his car due to his MS
I dont know Ata. She gets all her treatments at John Hopkins, so its all very advanced. She has had MS for a very long time, and its fairly advanced.
he designed it with stone shelves where he could stick the orchids and in the courtyard he stuck them in the notches of trees
twon
sorry
Morning all
hi lynxxxx
hi lynxxx
Hi lynxxx
I almost said in the ni*****s of trees
that seems to be the thing that everything BF looks at has in common. Vit D supplements up to 14,000 IU / day in extreme cases!
morning, lyn
Hi Lynnnxxxx!!!!
Tom has 50k units weekly due to his very, very fast GI tract
tr7.36 spells like a tree arm - extra vowel on end
lol, ruby
here, it means a road cut between hills
TY lynn
or a tunnel but open
thx, lynxxx
or a tr7 of shares in the stock market
No matter the size of the grid, I get to 50 left or so and things just get soooo constipated!
that tr7 is new to me. ty
I find this grid challenging to say the least
**forms mental picture of red's grid being constipated
try getting that picture out of your brain. lol
Hi Wild, it needs to spit out some words...
i'm sure that won't happen
Milk of magnesia, perhaps?
words, need sto push out some words...
Oh Lord
lord is not in this grid...
sorry Red. ;-)
me too!!!
Poor baby
I have turned the TV to this USA thing, "little miss perfect" small children in beautiy pagents. It is a bit scary
that is scary red
red ... that is a creepy practice, isn't it?
more than a little scary!
remembered that i'm on windows here, and switched to expert.
It is. It seems that there is just too many confusions between parents hopes and dreams and kids hopes and dreams and the odd Sexual messages....
what can the mothers be thinking?
Too bad the grid can't be rotated ... that would give a new perspective and help highlight things unseen previously.
good idea, mongie
you can turn your head sideways ...
lol, wildcat
pretend you're an owl
Or stand on your head.
Unfortunately, it doesn't help me to view the letters sideways! lol ... like Greek to me! :)
this has been fun. Thank you everybody and it's lovely to know you a little better, mongie!
g'nite hego
bye wildc
bbye
thats what I am wondering. I can not imagine spending my time like that as a kid. and what a message that you are only valued for your sequins.
Nite Ruby. Sleep well.
sweet dreams RUby.
bye Ruby
and putting make-up on tiny girls!!!!
bye ruby
bye lynxxxx, bye red
but I can not change the channel, its like I can not stop...
bye seaspray, I hope you feel better very soon!
thank you, ruby ... you, too!
en7?
ty ruby
en7 is plural of the en6 like the town in CA
((higs))
hugs* poopy typing
g'night ruby
ty
nite, seain
heat
sorry
going to school now looking at the snow come down
now, sue we would all like it to be warmer, typing it in here wont make it so!
tx seain
lol
made my fingers a bit warmer
it's chilly and damp here today.
we're supposed to get up to an inch. may that it be so little here.
bye for now bbl
Ha! LOL
you are getting snow sue?
hego that flower made me feel a bit warmer
hope you survive the yet more snow, sue
windy here, sunny, but we had a big rain storm earlier.
Sunny and mid-30F here today ... scent of spring in the air!
good Sue. See you later.
rain and snow predicted tonight
bye hego
mongie you've gone pro already! Evening all
Mongie has a super icon!
hiFM!
Ata dear Hi :)
Hi, FMitch ... yes ... it had to be done! I found myself unable to stay away! lol
hi FM
afternon, FM
off to eat a salad...biab
Wish I were more "pro" at finding the words, though.
lynx, I have a very strange question for you, that I'm sure you won't know the answer to, but ...
I did warn you! Hi lynxxx and dc et al
bye seaspray
FM .. yes, you did! lol
me too mongie, on the word finding. 47 left. still holding out for no list.
hey red
yes Ata?
Hi FM!
do you know where I should look online to find government information on Aussie estuaries and their management. We have the Environment Agency that has an Estuary section, the US has the National Estuary Programme, but I can't seem to find anything equivalent in Australia
red ... I have 73 left! I am always glad to see the new grid ... I start out so well. :)
Hi all....
hi flask
Evening Flask
LOL mongie, I hope tomorros is small because I have to work.
uh oh that prob means it will be a biggie then red
yes, it seems the 400 word ones that I looove are always on work days.
567
http://www.ozcoasts.org.au/ is one place to start
geez no that big please Ata!
www.ozcoasts.org.au OR www.environment.gov.au/water/.../prote cting-rivers.html OR www.clw.csiro.au/issues/water/rivers_e stuaries/faq.html
Golly I hope for like 78 words.
aha! I found the ozcoasts one earlier before getting too confused about where I should be looking!!
well we will just have to wait and see :)
ty :) I shall look at those!
Taking a break for a while ... need to come back with a fresh eye. Nice chatting with you all!
indeed, its a daily surprise!
There does seem to be hep of sites doesn't there
http://www.environment.gov.au/water/to pics/wetlands/database/ has a searchable DB on wetlands
TTFN mongie
hasta, mongie
it's just interesting that I can't find that Aus has a national estuary programme / strategy when it's so hot on the coastal side. The US seems to do best with estuaries
so you have gone from bogs to estuaries now then Ata?
yep lol
:)
though I've always loved estuaries anyway
Each State looks after its 'own' water here
what if (say) Qld had a water policy that NSW disliked cos it affected them badly?
Estuaries - can only associate them with crocs - and not the one you wear on your feet
LOL :)
Lots of wrangling about water, especially when short (droughts)
good grief ,i have a new apreciation for our water abundance up here now
where i live, a six-state plus the district compact regulates land use and most of the waterways of the Chesapeake Bay watershed.
it's just really interesting seeing how different countries deal with the same issues
Chesapeake is a Special Case :D
Ohio, Michigan, Pennsylvania, New York and Ontario worked together to clean up Lake Erie
any clue for the en6 ?
*pokes Ata and hides behind Hobbit*
I have to say that the US is miles ah5 as far as I can see with management of water bodies
Eeeeva!
Hi EvaN!
en6, like town in California
how are we this afternoon?
thanks dc seain
hi Eva
hi, EvaN
hallo
Doing OK EvaN, hope you are well too. HI Harry
lol,the only reason i knew en 6/21 was by watching a old episode of cops lol
hi, harry
and don't forget to pl the en 6 too
i think the guns are giving me a headach
78 left...don't think I'm gonna last till 50% till listing today
guns dc?
lol harry, you do the same as i,no list till 50% min
heavy guns testing at Marine Corps Base Quantico, which is not far from my sister's, at whose house i am today.
yes, doing well. finally feel like i get to breathe again, after 2 rather stressful months. (good stressful, just busy!)
yeah but I only found 2 out of 8 K words, and things are not looking great :)
ohhh
wonderful, evaN
dc you get on over there and complain :)
i grew up with the arms testing, as our mom lives 4 miles closer to the base. It's been 20 years since i've lived in this area though. :)
that Harry, just full of great advice!
dc,want some fun? phone up the base commander and say to him that you have a unexploded shell in your back yard lol.i promise they will stop the guns;0
:) excuse me sir, could you please lower the volume on that howitzer
lol lynxxx
actually, i know they won't stop. they will, however, send arms experrts to investigate
we have 2 bases near me,camp borden and the meaford tank range
oh you already tried that call before then dc ;)
last summer they were getting rid of old ordinance and the windows rattled all day
years ago, a kid was bouncing a metal ball he'd found in his yard. His mom called Quartico. Turned out the boy found an unexploded cannonball from the Civel War. They difused it and gave it back to him.
eek!
every few months we get WW2 bombs and shells wahing up on the beach. always interesting
and now a neigbor is having tree work done. much cauco phony today.
er, defused, not difused LOL
that would be interesting, ata
I did it! 50%
it is ... you have to phone up the coastguard and they come along with bomb disposal people and blow whatever it is up
wtg Harry
go, go harry
This is too early, going to have nap on the couch with Stew, BBL, much later
heh the list is not helping me so much today :)
be well, lyn
Am going to love and leave you babblers going to go and relax befor ean early night.
sweet dreams, FM
Happy babbling :)
nighty night dear!
tough grid this is:(((
it is indeed today, crossy
half way. will list now.
Hi all.
hi, mixi
howdy mix
hi all, I will list at halfway today - most likely.
i am finding this puzzle difficult
it is challenging today , jmb
it's not the easiest
i have 46 left, but it is slooow going.
i am at 74 left... not even halway
60 left.
halfway
i was looking out at more snowfall, and just stubled on this site..it made my heart hurt;(( http://www.photosight.ru/photo/alone/2 827466/
stumbled*
I am very very hungry, however, my scallops have been marinating....I shoudl not eat dinner at 3 pm should I?
and why not red..enjoy!!
if you do, plan a small snack for later. enjoy!
if you're really hungry, I don't see why not!
lets see if I can get a few more of these words. I did a snack just now...I think I am in an eating mood, how interesting.
live for this "now" red,for it shall never come again;))
that is probably true.
but eating scallops now means no scallops to enjoy later ;)
nice picture crossy
also true!!!!! I do have some ice cream though...
a plane could crash on the house five minutes from now and there you are dead and scallopless
well if you have ice cream, all is well!
save the ice cream for tonight red and eat now
yes,ice cram and bacon can fix almost anything
wish I had some ice cream
hah! Crossy I think of you everytime the beggin strip commercial comes on TV
I have cookies and cream and also maple walnut.
Gotta keep myself eating!
LMAO sea
lol i saw bacon gummie candies today:)
cookies and cream is always the best
I love the maple walnut, but the walnuts are sometimes too much
wish B&J would make cookies and cream frozen yoghurt
I like vanilla with hot fudge and a spoon of peanut butter on top...mmmm
TCBY makes the best and our store closed several years ago
I *love* the Haagen Dazs lo-fat vanilla, something and granola
must go find peanut butter pie in fridge. BBL.
coffee ice cream is another favorite of mine.
and butterfingers ice cream. mmmmmmmmm
I SO miss decent ice cream over here
Ben + Jerry's Oatmeal Cookie Dough is the BEST. *drools*
never tried that one!
oh yes, that's wonderful
its my FAVORITE
they dont have it out all the time, but i grab it whenever i see it1
!
"Oatmeal Cookie Chunk" is the official name
give me oatmeal cookies in any form .. cookies, ice cream, whatever
too frustrated... try again later. pfft
I love the Harris Teeter store brand premium ice creams - they're like Breyer's used to be.
ata -- i dont know that ive ever had it, but theres an oatmeal cookie shot out there somewhere...
Breyer's mint choc chip is lovely
really?? oooo
Publix ones are good too, HT and Publix may actually be the same in the end.
have you have chocolate cake shots, Eva?
i have had them made different ways. the one i prefer is a shot of Frangelico with a sugared lemon
so bizarrely amazing. I like frnagelico and citron vodka with the lemon
HOW does that taste like choc cake?
my friend once made me a shot that tasted exactly like a macintosh apple. ive tried to get it since, and none of them taste right...
could you folks talk about something else??? i'm about to attack a vending machine!!!
I am marinating scallops BoJazz!!!
ata, i have no idea! the funny thing is that i actually dont really like lemons! so when my friend brought me that shot and said "trust me" i was wary, but she was right!
huh.i thought kvetch was only kv word in English. apparently not.
true dc
I don't like Frangelico!
I KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING1!! and i really don't need to know this!!
there's a kv word? that's horrible.
kv 4.11
*SNOGGLES NB*
very easy to get NB
Eventually Bo Jazz, I am going to sear them in a pan with olive oil and coucous.
Hi Nancy!
hi, nancy
I might have to have a toffee muffin
got it ty dc
OK. that's it - the vending machine is going DOWN
Thanks Seain :) and you were right, Bojazz! And good evening, everyone, and, Eva, be a dear and let me jump into your arms
never underestimate the power of babblers :D
oh no bojazz, the vending machine is full of partially hydrogenated palm kernel oil!!!! so bad for you
*holds arms wide open*
*leaps*
got all the Ks now! last one was the first one. how odd.
*across an OCEAN*
hi, all! giggling my butt off here... :D
I DON'T CARE! my stomach is going gurgly crazy
it could be a healthy vending machine!
it is! i've already convinced myself!
Ata, have you ever seen a healthy vending machine? really now.
Hi rbud!
I did say *could* LOL
thats quite a distance. *envisions NB leaping like a pro ballet dancer*
eva is waiting for you to land, but I can offer an alternative landing site if there is cloud cover....
as if I'd leap any other way...
sounds intriguing, Red?!
Ok - settling for M&M peanuts
peanuts to offer some health benefits!
peanut m&ms are a happy
as long as he won't bump into the space shuttle near you
*do
like the space shuttle.
well, there is part of the shuttle moved out to the launch pad.
yes, the peanuts will make it all better, I agree. (always tell myself that, too... ) ;p
do they serve scalloped potatoes in the shuttle?
chocolate can improve mood.
i had some wild cherry M&Ms earlier. yummy.
oooo they sound good
you guys have much better snack food in the states! you're all making me hungry!
not fair, is it
But Pinny, never under-estimate the comforting qualities of real, english, stodge.
the cherry-filled hersheys kisses are quite yummy also...
good point NB
I liked the caramel filled ones.
what isr real englishs todge?
chocolate covered cranberries are the poo!
stodge also gets a big thumbs up :D
no, bojazz, Harry and David's choc covereed cherries!
Red, the mad things that only English people would think were a good idea. Like pork pies. And dumplings.
stodge?
stodge? need i reprimand my english parents for not informing of something english that is yummy?
I love chiken and dumplings, but they are sort of an American thing I thought.
stodge = carb-heavy food. like pies and mashed potato and mashed potato pie
sorry my grammar is gone today.
my czech relatives made chix and dumplings, too
sometmies chix and spaetzle
Oh poor teulu he is wuffling in sleep.
ahh, so not an actual dish. just sort of a genre of food. gotcha.
It's probably me, Red; I associate them with England. Suet and stuff...reeeeally heavy food. Though I'm technically a foreigner, so it's rude for me to criticise.
exactly. stodgy food. make you fat. and happy. but more fat.
Having never been to England I have no idea. I have heard from a variety of people who were there for different times...that the food could be challenging...
BTW, hints for the E above the V?
stodge = carb rich food that you simply have to nap after eating, very happily
anyone have any good news? I want to hear some!!
over here, stodgy is not a word associated with happy or pleasant or nice to be around - unless of course you're doing scalloped potatoes
ea4/5, Eva
got 1/2 gal. of ice cream on sale today red for $1.99
like our planet without the middle letter
*kicks self*
what flavour, sea?
good job Seaspray!
just vanilla, but don't forget I am adding hot fudge and peanut butter lol
drool :p~~~~
have you tried the dulce de leche syrup from hershy?
xxl
vanilla is the best flavour ever. shame it's never the best ice cream ever
hmmm, no...is it good?
very, if you like caramelly things.
xxl?
anything dulce de leche is heavenly
In Korea, they have yam ice cream. And spinach ice cream. Needless to say: gross.
ok kids, time for me to get going. i might actually get home while there is still a hint of sunlight in the sky!
I will have to try it
I like yams!
safe traveling Eva
shop in South America has sardine and brandy ice cream
*snoggles NB on my way out* see you all tomorrow!
And spinach btu not in ice cream....i would try the spinach...
bye Eva
byeeee Eva! :)
eww sardine ice cream
hello all
bye eva take care.
soiunds obscene
ooh, now i want some red bean ice cream...
I can't begin to elaborate on the stuff I've tried in that country.
spinach pie is good.
arrrugh 35 left....
spinach pie & spinach ice cream ain't the same thing!!
no list, so I am proud...but, killing me!!!
35 left here too
i'm on my final word...
26 left
true bojazz
you eats your veggies & then you gets your desert
and done :D that was hard
congrats pinnypoppins
well done, Pinny :)
congrats Pinny!!!
wtg Pinny
hooray for me
anyone need a clue before i pop off?
I do!
but...for what?
haha - your choice ;)
LOL Red
any unusual W words? I have all 4's and one 5, your net Wo***
personally I've just broken halfway through. Trying to get done before Leo gets home and we go out :)
they're all totally mundane
5 x wa4, 3 x wo4 and one wo5
Ahh I am missing a wa 4 and a wo 4 looking now thanks
are there any odd S's. like sv's?
no Ata
5 sa's.

I was going to say "of course there's a real fireworks display, if we just shouted 'fireworks', we'd be mad...then I remembered, that's what everyone USED to do!
nm Got it
LOL, Nancy Boy
doing a "I finished dance" along with shouting is always fun, too;-)

Wow, news telling me that the quake in Haiti has shortened the day on earth and shifted one of the earths axises!
I think it was the one in Chile that did that red
Hi Red- It was the CHILE quake.
errr the quake in chile...
yes luv, i was not awake...
article I read said both did but Chilean one more because of locale
it really stinks cuz now days will be shrter
* shorter
by a millisecond.
I haven't read complete articles, do you know if that means all the days in the future?
ah, well now I have an excuse for not getting all my work done lol
we're talking fractions of a second here guys
but as we've seen with the Olympics every milisecond counts
: )
yes, a millisecond no one can see it.
lol! our kitty is sitting ont the desk watching the cursor go back and forth on the monitor:)
my cat once spent 20 minutes engrossed in the spin of the ceiling fan
looked like an upward facing b0bble head
lol had to toss the cat down,he got into pouncing mode and he started wiggling his butt from side to side
sounds like fun. ;-)
now he has discovered that the goose neck lamp is also a heat source
ok 31 left. I am going to meet up with Lickety.
if your at 31,you deserve licetys
some strange ones here.
what do I deserve at 6 left??!!
I find if I use lickety only at the end things are very clear. When I try to use it from the beginning, or with more th** 50 words left, I get very confused.
A spanking ata.
oo-er!
;)
hi all. ata, i have 11 left, and will race you NOT!!!
Hi Dorens. 5 left
go hego, go ata!
ty
hi doren!

i am going to an estuary in mexico next month, between cancun and tulum. tres rios. looks such fun
we really it, it was a wonderful few hours
estuaries are great :D
place has kayaks on site... will spend much time in the mangroves (or whatever they have in mexican estuaries) and will take pictures for you
should be mangroves!
Dorens....I am jealous. I am imagining the birds you will see!
now here is a beta program that is very handy and quite fun!! http://tunebot.cs.northwestern.edu/
mangroves, birds, snorkeling in ce 6/21's (they are on the property too) and mexican food as well. what could be wrong with that?
hi crossy
Whew. Fireworks.

Oh, have fun.
crossy continues to hunt for a water filled sink hole so he can toss himself in it and end this grid madness
3 c. old fashioned oats, 1/2 c. each chopped walnuts, chopped almonds, chopped pecans. cinnamon, salt, vanilla extract and maple syrup. mix and bake half hour. that's all. can't be so very bad for me

G'night, hego
seaspray it's posted.. can't be exactly sure about quantities on the cinnamon, vanilla and maple syrup cause i didn't measure
yay red
and thanks for the fish, vi. smack away
Nah. I wouldn't have seen it myself if you hadn't asked for it, so I owe you.
hah! i know how that goes... i often appreciate people asking for clues when i'm listless.. helps me out a whole lot, but still thanks.. i just wasn't finding it and i did know the stats
ty so much Dorens, I will have to taste test...ty again
i forgot to say you should stir once or twice during baking. enjoy it
now just tell me if en6/21 is a fish or not, but don't clue it
I'll have to look for it, first!
Wow, just looke dup the ca5/22. Intriguing. I'll have to do a little research after I've finished here.
that one took me some time, but the point count itself was intriguing
en6 is not fishy to me.
ok, got it
Although we've certainly had the en6 before.
you, of course, will have to see the ca5/22 so you can capture its image
ok i WILL find it. still not jumping out at me tho
found it, man that was a monkey
DONE!! thanks
Done done? As in, yay for Doren!?
i remember seeing it clued as "kinda like a town in CA"
yes, as in yay for doren.
Yay for Doren!
=D
Yay, Dorens!!!
*curtseying* couldn't have done it without a bit of help today. thanks
vi, have you tried quote-puzzler? you'd like it
Get thee behind me, Doren! I don't need any additional ways to waste time!
LOL
i totally understand! that's how if felt when someone gave it to me as a birthday gift... and particularly since i'm addicted now but stink at it. not nearly as gratifying as lexulous (except when i'm playing SOME people)
but i keep coming back and someday i'll do better, i'm sure.
I'm sure you will! I have too many hobbies, is my problem. And not one of them involves housecleaning.
we love lexulous
housecleaning and hobbies? only thing they have in common is the h. hobbies are supposed to be pleasurable
i do indeed, ata. had such a run of good luck for such a long time... now 7 out of 20 games are doomed... miserable letters.. got my comeupance
Right. But I have to keep my nose to the hobby grindstone or I don't have time for them all! And that certainly leaves no time in my busy schedule for anything else.
but i still love it
I have generally miserable letters too *sigh*
i often wondered, vicuna, how you young ladies with the children manage .. and your art, or "hobbies" as well? my hat's off to you
Benign neglect goes a long way.
Actually, that's what Babble is for - to do during the times when the kids won't let me concentrate on anything el4. They're really very good, though.
well then ata, guess i should go check out our game and see where we're at
yes you are lucky ata... twins can be difficult, but one of the charms is you rarely have to entertain a lonely bored child
no. that was meant for vicuna, not ata. who is also lucky
Heh - except when they're lonely and bored together! =P
i will say goodbye now... to lexulous perhaps. see you all later
Bye, Doren!
here is an amazing cover of jasons song.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pYdZvQB l6sk
tried for the ca 5/22...can't get it....hint please

looking on line trying to decide what recipe to make for dinner...

I'd have to send you my coursework LOL, that takes the time!!

hi jellen & smooth
Say, jellen... when I played here before (like a year and a half ago or so) they used to have a theme every day for icons... and there was someone who posted the daily theme in their profile. Is that still done? and if s, who was the person that posted the theme?
hey bojazz
my wife would make meatloaf with turkey - it was great, i could not tell the difference in that & beef with her recipe.
Hi, bojazz
Sprite's profile has the icon list...
thanks!
im debating creating a bacon lasagne...though it might tear open a black hole in the solar system lol

lol,why imprt syrup, when a friend of mine down the road taps his own trees? lol
ty, welki
thanks welki! got it!
thx welki
'welcome
I had a neighbor who used to tap his trees... you're right, cross... nothing as good as the fresh stuff!
I wouldn't expect a New Yorker to buy Vermont syrup instead of NY either
ty welki
but, but, i'm from Vermont
i must have done it wrong .. i had to pick all kinds of gunk out of the syrup we tapped in vermont when i was young
heh... welki, looks like you were the only one with that word.:)
ours was clean and clear
(i don't know why i had that word, pappa, was a fluke)
well when i come visit you bo i will be sure to eat vermont syrup!
don't have any now - here we only get sap from our trees and it messes with your car finish
*moves pretty ticket-me-red saab out of range of bo's trees*
lol
Maybe you're confusing sap with resin
keep mine in garage
i finally was able to get mine out of the garage yesterday, jm .. our alley had such deep ruts, i would have taken the apron off if i'd driven it
hey tfgrrl
you have a saab, too, bo?
no, Toyota thingy
I got my trash picked up today *beams with pride*
lol
sap is like tree blood you ha** to go through the bark to get to it. Resin oozes out and is sticky and insects get stuck in it.
Hey bo
hi, tf
hi tfg
last friday when you were "taking the big step" to join, did anyone tell you our group song?
hey all!
*sits back and watches this .. ought to be good*
yikes I ha** to hit the road if i am going to get wine for supper!
enjoy dinner, jmc
*hesitates in doorway to hear the song*
Oh no, there's a song? I was hoping for a secret handshake he he he.
bye, jmc, do enjoy your supper! :)

*groan*

Well, I guess kids are out then. Oh well.
LOL
and here i thought you were an open-minded sort of gal, tf
ROFL - go welki
They've have been cute though, my red hair, your big ears and fluffy fur, skin color might be a toss-up.
hse's in LA - that bastion of conservatism
*she's
I'm in LA, but not confused about my gender, thank you, even though there are folks here who may be. lol
don't forget, tf, the famous exhange between marilyn monroe and albert einstein on the subject of 'what if we had a baby'
Marilyn Monroe suggests to Einstein: What do you say, professor, shouldn't we marry and have a little baby together: what a baby it would be - my looks and your intelligence! Einstein: I'm afraid, dear lady, it might be the other way around...
lol
welki I have no idea what you might be implying. *tossing my hair and turning away and tripping over a chair*
hey tf ... is gladstone's still in malibu or was it destroyed in a fire?
I'm fine. I meant to do that.
have needed a good laugh all day - thanks so much!!

great one crossy
a California live oak
my job is depressing lately - business is really bad & my girl friend won't talk to me - laughing is a real pick-me-up!
the slow biz part i understand, but some might think that the silence might be a good thing ;)
Heck, at least you HAVE a girlfriend.
beginning to believe that every passing hour - who needs it?
not really - this is pretty much over - just shutting down like she has sucks
hey, there's a victoria, b.c. neighborhood in the grid ... saanich!
<-- would like a saanich right now. maybe a reuben
bo, move on. if she's shutting down and not talking to you about it, she's already shut down. get yerself a nice womink, like tfgrrl.
tfgrrl doesn't think our children would turn out too well
then don't have any. get a hermit crab
I had no idea I was in the farm fur category.
LOL
Womink?
that's russian?

haven't laughed this much since last Friday
I 'm just not sure they'd be genetically viable. We could always adopt. I'm kinda to old to have kids anyway.
well, as much as i'm enjoying this, it's time for me to hit the stove ... 'see' you later
*pulls himself out of the grid to look at the chat log* huh! this is quite a conversation I'm missing. :-P
my daughter-in-law gave birth at 36 -
Have to admit the hermit crab sounds like a good idea.
i love crabs - soft shell, etc. they are good
Yeah, I'm pushing the sharp edge of 40 and not as fertile, plus much greater chance of birth defects. Blue crab is fantastic!

Yeah, I think I had my mid-life crisis at 25, if that is possible, and I've been single so long I'm not sure what I'd do with a guy even if I did get my hands on one.

I am hoping for a he4/5 wave so the snow will go away quickly. It would be ni 4/5 if it melted this week and be gone on 4/5 for all for everybody's sa 4/8. Th 4/5 we can start enjoying spring and summer. Over all, I would ra 4/4 this winter not too bad.I didn't get one sore th 6/21 this winter. That is my ra 4/5 about the snow. I do hope you ha4/8 made a no4/4 of my clues.
Bravo, Min!
Thanks Jellen!
ty min a got a couple i didn't have
Minvery you get my vote for cleverwoman of the week! Thanks for the gifts of great stories.
Thank you stidgmere and you are so very welcome!
hi stidgmere
Just popping in to say thanks to Minveryork. Your clue stories are such a great help, and fun, too!
hi jmc. Just trying to get some words completed. Some are obviously under my nose and very hard to perceive.
hi mrs.
Hi, jmc!
Hi Mrs. T! Never seen you before, but glad you like it
Oh, I'm always around. I think I'm what you might call a Lurker!
I have posted story in profile if anybody needs them.
Hi, stidgmere and Mrs. T.
brb...
I'm with you, Mrs. T or should I say fellow lurker!!! great job Min
Hello Lady Biotch! How are you? Welcome to the chog
hi lady
Hi everyone!!!
Sometimes one must sort of focus on the grid so I don't believe being in the background is so bad. Always nice when you feel inspired isn't it.
Hi, Lady B.
hola
And when I stay in the background, I'm less likely to goof and type a word in the chat log!
chicken! *giggle*
You bet!
think of it as part of the challange
did everyone notice that it is just our US selves chogging tonight? Is that unusual?
there were canadians earlier but the brits don't tend to come on this time of day
well, that makes sense sometime I forget that not every is on EST
lol no they are not
so if the brits are sleeping, does that we mean we can talk about them??? LOL
better be careful because NB and jac will show up!
are they lurkers too?
We'll talk about them and only say NICE things!
no but they are brits
oh in that case
here's a Canadian ;-) with fireworks :-)
whoo hooo jill!
congrats!
hoes
crap, sorry
its okay its not in the grid
can't chog and play babble at the same time :(
it just takes practice lady
although if you look back a couple of days to sunday you will see where i took up 10 minutes of the chog when i was lurking
It's 2:40 am Wednesday March 3 in the UK
*dong*
Lady B -- do you have a PC or a Mac?
PC
Well, do you know about BabbleExpert?
hmmmm, no
Congratulations jillibus on your fireworks! Good for U
it's free -- puts everything on one page and has a box where if you type one word it goes automatically to Lickety's list as well as your My Word list, and if you type more than one word it goes to the chat. It also has "Resources" which has a link to Morewords as well as oter things. All you need to do is email Lickety for it.
thanks, min!
so when i type *giggle* it would go into the list? ;-)
not unless it's a word in the grid, silly
*puts on silly foil cap* :-D
i ha** a story about a fairy ring jill
Actually, if you want to send a *single* word to the chat, you have to hit Ctrl + Enter
do tell, jmc
when i was 4 years old my family went to wimberly a camping area near a river
we were all there, Mother, Daddy, my three sisters and my brother.
it was a strange and magical place where my daddy had to kill a rattlesnake, we went fishing, and my second sister got butt by a goat
hello my babble friends!
hi trif!
daddy hung the rattlesnake skin on a fence and we were fascinated by it
hi trif
jmc is telling story
*a story
Heya Trifs!
that night we all went to bed and it was dark and quiet as it could be when all of a sudden. . . .
hey all
yes, I have been following it....
hi jen
the twins, my third sister and my brother started screaming
hey there tor
hi jen
why, why?
Mother and Daddy went running into the room were they were staying and they were both crying that a giant had come into the room and then died
hi torg
is the puzzle worth starting?
it took a while for Mother and Daddy to get everyone quiet again and convince them that even if a giant had come in it was gone
wow, this is exciting - a babble ghost story!
sure, jen
well i was still scared and crawled into bed with Mother and Daddy in the dark
I still couldn't sleep because i could hear a tinkling sound
I looked out the window and saw. . .
fairies in a ring dancing in the night -- I poke Mother and she saw them too
she told me they were mushrooms but I knew better because i could see them dance and hear the music
the end
I have the perfect icon for that -- wait a bit...
that was great, jmc - I could almost see them myself!
it was your icon that got me going with you in the middle of the fairy ring
I can still see them in my minds eyes
hi jbv
A lovely story. Now I will say good night to all my friends. Poof.
bye stidgmere
jmc -- refresh to see the icon for your story! ( and btw, what's not me in the other picture -- didn't you read the writeup?
night stidgmere!
i misread
jmc I absolutely LOVE that story! thank you so much!
that's ok -- she does look a bit like me!
jilli and jmc - this is my last night on babble for about a week - leaving for vacation tomorrow
have a lovely tome, jbv -- where are you going?
Puerto Rico!
boy, it's typo time for me -- also supper time.
jmc -- can you see my new icon for your story?
I remember seeing a lovely exhibit of Victorian fairy art at the Morgan Library in NYC - paintings and photographs of supposed sightings
no i have to reboot brb
ha** fun in PR brb
darn cach still can't see it except in the tiny version
got it!
lol that's exactly what I saw! ty jill
thought it would be just right, jmc!
there are a series of fairy photographs that were given to Conan Doyle that he thought were real
When I was a bout 6 I had read Peter Pan. Ther3e was also a big celebration of the 25th Jubilee of King George V and Queen Mary, and I coined a phrase which got published in the school magazine -- "Jubileeve in fairies?"
very cute and clever jill!
hi everyone!

Where's your sense of fancy?
I can be whimsical ..
I'm just sayin'
It's silly ..
Nothing wrong with that ..
Oh, okay...

Hi jilli
I like yours, bugs :)
hi jill
The house of my childhood had a fairy ring in the back yard ..
tried the game -- it's timed, so forget it
oh too bad i am not good at timed games either
*giggle* i would guess that is obvious since i take so long everyday to finish this
when I was 8 and visiting in England there was a fairy ring where we stayed for a summer holiday. The Irish maid, Nora (I remember her well -- she was fun) told my cousin and me about the fairies but my aunt put a stop to "that nonsense" :-(
well poo on your aunt
yes indeed! She said the irish were always telling such tales
it is so sad when people try to stop imagination. It is such a gift!
interesting, what sticks in an 8-yr-old's mind
indeed
well, of course, she was a down-to-earth Scot
well so was my mother -- separated by 6 generations but virtually pure blooded
and she saw the fairies too
I'm so glad she did, jmc :)
me too
I remember being about 7or 8 and chasing all over the place with afirend as we tried to find the end of the rainbow so we could catch a leprechan. We must have gone miles away from home
ah, these legends!
there cannot be as many th words as the list suggests...
clues available here

sigh!
When will you be able to teach then stid?
it's okay jill. the following summer I will be NOT in school. AND unemployed. (but looking!) LOL
I am expected to get my degree and certification in the summer of 2011.
That is a long haul stid. I admire your perseverance.
And I bet you'll get summa cum laude
I second that!
