I remember when I was 11 and in a gym demonstration at school -- my dad was in Hong Kong and my mother in Japan, making reservations for our trip to England before I turned 12 and doubled the fare -- she was due back that day and I was so anxious that she be there to see me succeed at a particularly difficult vault called the Short Fly. I asked other parents if they'd seen her and they said they were sure she'd be there. I did my best and made the vault just in case she was, but I think she hadn't been able to make it in time. She never let on. But I still remember every detail.

Every thing is getting slowly better thanks. Nicky's shoulder is staying in but she fell over on the path and got badly burnt (3weeks in burns unit) she is a lot better now

Yes. It has all been a bit of a nightmare. Seven year old granddaughter should have been back at school on 21April. She sent e-mail to her teacher asking for some work to be getting on with. She absolutely adores school and is missing it so much.

oh yes, loads of birds. We are living very close to a nature preservation area and it is amazing how many birds we get to see.

yes j, absolutely. unfortunately our budget was defeated so we don't know how many MORE cuts will come through first
sort of ruru, but even in good mood he was not a communicator. few words... i was always trying to come up with topics of conversation... and he often responded with two or three words.. we were one of those couples you see at restaurants who rarely talk. and i was uncomfortable with that.
it's really sad - cuts will mean severe disruptions to programs - in our district staff STILL do not know who's being let go, transferred, etc. Here's my news: retirement papers are filled out and ready to submit this week -

no budget was voted down, it's now in the city council, so probably cuts will be worse - there is a terrible groundswell of hate-filled attacks on administrators and supervisors, I guess they think we just sit around eating bonbons all day. When we all retire or positions are cut, they will understand what our work entails

my young lab is such an awesome dog, I have though about making her a therapy dog - but the requirements and training is incredible. I thought I could just bring her into a nursing home or other kind of home as she loves people so much - but NO - cnat do that. I understand they need to make sure the dog is not dangerous but .....
