Hooray josh!
Well, the vet will know, I imagine.
I don't think it's a fun grid at all
but maybe I'm just tired.
me too jilli but if I don't finish tonight, don't think I'll get a chance
Me too, flosey, but I have to get up "early" (for me) so if I don't finish tomorrow, that's what this grid deserves
And I'm sure you're much closer to finishing than I am ;)
pool exercise tomorrow, then Geo has a bridge lesson here at 12:30 - 2:30
aha, can use laptop downstairs, didn't occur to me before!
so I can work very quietly down in family room

Hi, all
congrats Jae
TY!
Hi, is the chog working?
Seems to be. Hi
Yes, you've just proved it.
There was nothing between 3:58 and 5:04
It's that kind of grid, it needs concentration.
morning Haz, another tuff one
Hello lynxxx and bichon - it's certainly giving me something to chew over.
I'm going to take a break from this. I'll be back later, armed with either a sledgehammer or tweezers.
Or perhaps both.
Bye Haz, have a good day
Bye!
Good morning/day to all.
Hi Scrabbs. Afraid I'm off too. Tough grid - be warned!
I already discovered that with a review of the letters + layout.
So am I all alone here?
I'm lurking but at work so it's sporadic...
Hi MG.
Hello!
No Scrabbler, I am here but not really chatting. Only have 62 words so far and finding it very hard today :-(

Not today... but last night was not entirely appreciated, I tell you. Folks, he stuffed styrofoam up his nose. Why? Because he's 5.
Come on, lbd, don't tease us with non-words!
lol mg
I commented on that on FB, MG
argh, can't go to bed for another 3 hours...
WHy, dawg?
Yes, I saw, thanks. Been waiting for this one... they all do it at some point I think.
have to take hubz to work. then i can go to bed. I got off work early so...
I once had a kid tell me that a quarter ($ 0.25) was flying through te sky and jumped into his mouth, right down his throat.
Hee hee! Yes, as you'll recall Walter initiall said the styrofoam walked up him and jumped into his nose.
That is a common explanation--to blame the foreign body. Or another kid.
He was alone in the living room... kind of surprised he didn't blamd his robot panda though.
Or Saskia
Good point!
Does it look like you will be able to travel here next week?
So far it does look like it, yes. Thank goodness.
60! Woo hoo. BBS.
Tot straks!
Hello again. Anyone here?
still here, scrabs
How are you doing with this grid?
50 left.
Wow, good for you.
fresh cuppa coffee is helping
but i think i'm ready to list.
Morning all! What fresh hell is THIS?
68/96 and I must get ready to leave for work. On Mondays I work at the Indian Reservation Health Ctr and I have a longer drive.
Hi Jay. Another tough grid, but, so far, not as bad as pesterday.
pesterday is right
hi jay. it's a tough grid. but doable.
lol...i like pesterday!
Yesterday's word list had about 50% weird, new words for me.
Good morning everyone. How come the male version is okay, but latina is no acceptable. Is one a proper noun and the other not?
i think this requires more coffee than the half cup i've had.
Bye lbd + Jay!
lots of strange words yesterday.
have a good day scrabbler
bye scrabs, have a safe drive
this grid desperately needs an e on the east side
i agree, jay. would make a lot of easier words!
Hi all, I just got here and I am discouraged. This grid is either for players waaayyy smarter than I, or gluttons for punishment.
i'll go for glutton for punishment
hello again again everybody. Got to 60 words this AM but doubt that I'll find any more
I am waiting for another big grid. I love the ones with the words you can build, not these nasty little single-word ones
my goal is to get to 100--seems very unlikely
jayk -- 100!
GOAL, Ruby, goal!
my goals are much more limited and this feels more like gaol!
rotflmao
does anybody else pick a "favorite word" each grid?
so far, mine is l06, the fruit
that;s lo6
i love lo6. lovely fruit
my favorite word is the last one!
lol, jay!
I've never tasted one, but like the way the word looks.....
it took 3 months 'til I knew what everybody meant by fireworks
thanks Ruby!
not sure how to describe them. they look like an apricot and kind of taste like them, but the texture is firmer
we have an exotic fruit and vegetable market where they probably have them, but since DH does the shopping, I'll never know
vittles is my phantom so far
vetch is my phantom or even kvetch (which I'm doing)
phantom "notice"
hi crossy
hody ruby et al:)
howdy*
hody ho to you!
phantom "horntail"
afternoon eveeryone
hi crossy
hi again katie!
there are more phantoms than words
how about honey?
phanton "victuals"...i know im in for a rough one when i see this many phantoms
it must be halloween
penicillin
phantom "flint"
how did you get on at the vets Ruby?
naturally, once we got there, Ruby limped less but he examined her EXACTLY as I had and then did two x-rays. She has a little arthritis in her shoulder, not grave, and he gave her a shot and some pills. I'm very relieved as I was fearing something terrible Thank you for asking, Katie!
I'm assuming that "arthrose" is arthritis, but dealing with illnesses in French is a little bit tricky for me
I'm glad it wasn't anything more serious Ruby x
it's horrible that I fall apart when one of the dogs get sick!
thank you.
this is my favorite of all the dogs I've had (only 5)
firebirds!
congrats ibd!
thanks, now to go scrounge up some food and more coffee! bbl
only 73 words and falling asleep and it's only 2PM! See you later
there is no shame in falling apart a bit when one of our pets is ill.when a being is ill who loves us without judgement , listens to every word we say, cares not if we are fat or thin, does not laugh at the clothes we wear, runs to great us at the door and sleeps with us at night, who knows when we are sick or down and stays with us till the storm is past who would not show sudden care and concern when a magial creature like that is unwell?...hoo boy crossy needs meds and a tea...brb
Amen crossy

Hi
hello {{Herin}}
Hi All
How you mom
Hi Hego
How's the grid today?
I am just fine Herin, and you?
it is another stinker
Hi Hego
is that you Hego in the picture?
uh oh
that is a wedding picture, but it's too big so I have to change it.
what is the matter?
you said stinker
what a lovely bride you made and quite a dashing groom
it is that, for sure
thanks Mom
We're old, but willing. lol
age is just a number. I think it is how you feel in your heart and mind that tells you your age (except when the bones creak) :)
Yup :o)
Hego - you're so glam!
LOVE! your cartoon.
Hi Pinny!
tyPinny
Hi Hego
thanks, each week I put up an ad from the 1930's
Is that you Pinny?
It is me! Taken last year when I was still living in Abu Dhabi
You're beautiful!
Oh thank you!
Are you feeling any better Pinny?
From the cold or the panic attacks?
either. both
Good morning all
not sure
Hi Bob
Hi herin
Cold has morphed into chest infection, but on antibiotics, so just general aches and pains. Panic is getting better (I think), but possibly due more to the fact that I've restricted a lot of activities to only o stuff I feel ok doing (which poses problems when I do get another job interview/offer)
Yes, I see
hego...hate to be mean, but you are messing up the chog and the add word...please change your icon.
I did Phae
good morning Phae, you are such a beast. lol :)
ok, i'll refresh and see if that helps
chog looks okay to me , though
Pinny come to my house and we can be crappy together
that would be quite a commute herin
I wish! I'd do anything to be able to run away from this
Awwwww
Alas, my ex boyfriend lives in Melbourne, so I avoid at all costs (which sucks, cos my best friend also lives there)
It is after 9:00 here and I need to get busy. {{Hugs}} to all of you. Herin and Pinny, I hope you two feel better soon
Well we both feel craptactula and I could always put a size 10 boot in his butt for you :D
Bye Mom
Great word Herin
Thanks Mom (and thanks Herin, but it's me you'd have to kick up the butt)
Why are you feeling poo, Herin?
i have a cold sniff
Bummer. Hate having a cold
Poor Herin
I have canned 2 days of class so I don't sniff cough and hack on others
Pinny, what kind of work do you do?
I work in Internal Communications, but I lost my job last May and haven't been able to get a new one. I think the toll of losing my job, two court cases in the space of a year, leaving the UK to live abroad, having to come home in fear of my life and then having two dozen highly-stressful interviews with no offers have all culminated in the explosion of a lot of repressed anxiety
yep...that worked :)
good Phaeton
Panic attacks can be mitigated.
Pinny, gosh. No wonder.
what do you mean?
hi all
Hi BR
Hi Boo
hi boo
tell us more BR
Take a look at my profile and copy the tips .... takes practice but has helped me a lot.
Pinny You need to talk to someone. 3 events like that is enough to turn a sane persons head inside out.
Good tips BR
I know I do, and I've looked around for someone to see, but unfortunately private care costs too much for someone with no job, and I have to wait about 9 months to get help on the NHS
Did you try Ata's guy?
I'm quite the panic/anxiety expert now, but unfortunately for me, my solution (get a job, get a normal routine back, integrate back into society, haven enough money to afford specialist treatment) is all tied up in the problem (panic attacks are triggered by job interviews, the fear of not being good enough as a consequence of losing my job last year)
I didn't - he's too expensive
I don't know about your area and what it is called and all that but there is crises workers available at um Employement services like were you get the pension (sorry I can't think of the name for you guys)
Ah, too bad.
I know what you're referring to Herin
None of that assistance (job-seekers allowance or job centres) is available to me
Mayo Clinic panic attacks: http://tinyurl.com/2bdodan
what I mean isn't there a social worker there at the place that you can talk to?
problem #1. panic attacks.
Good Morning Fellow Babblers. How are you all today? And how is the grid this AM?
First deal with that.
Hi nef.
We're trying to help Pinny
clue for ac 6
I can't 'sign on' for job seekers allowance or assistance at all Herin
Take it one step at a time, or you'll feel overwhelmed.
my other thought is to contact your local council and say HEY I need to speak to a social worker persony thingy
Don't have it Boo
But no, there's none of that kind of help either way, and the government is trying to cut back on monies spent on 'soft' treatments (such as any talking therapies)

Pinny we haven't even got Mental health care in our next budget. it is all about families and babies which i think is bullcrap
and Phae
yw
It is a bit rich that I have to pay over 40% tax when I'm working, but when I have these problems, it's going to take at least 9 months to get seen by a specialist on the health service
Pinny, there are some free self-help groups for all sorts of problems here on the internet. Have you tried this one? http://www.anxieties.com/panic.php
cognitive distortions: http://tinyurl.com/yglkhtr
Great idea Nef.
I've already read that site Nef, but thank you
this has been going on for about 7 weeks now
I believe there is always crisis help if needed. Call me naive
The good news, then, Pinny is that it isn't severely set in yet.
i used to have them 5 years ago
this is just a recurrance
The links I posted for self-esteem and cognitive distortions are good exercises to work through.
thanks BR - i'll check them out
anyway, let's stop talking about me and my miserable panic!
BR's sites are excellent, Pinny.
Very good site for support and information in a safe environment: http://forums.psychcentral.com/

got it...ty
I must love you and leave you I am very tired and sleepy and hope I don't snore and splutter all night
Ooo good one BR. ty
Nite Herin. Sleep well.
O and Pinny go to I haz cheeze burger or Daily Squeel to make you feel better
Sleep well, Herin. Who cares if you snore tonight!
Night Herin - feel better
I think what would make me feel better are 1. A new, extremely well-paid job, and 2. A nice, extremely well-paid boyfriend!
thanks all. Me I care himself has to work in the AM and I snored and sniffed and then the cat acted all mental all night
pinny: I just came into this very late, but I know about panic attacks from personal experience. For me, the simplest medication was Xanax. It worked and had no side effects. How much do you weigh -- no -- don't answer that. I weigh less than 100 lbs and take 2 x 50mg doses
it enables me to sleep through the night, crucial. 50mg, would probably be a good starting point
I asked my doctors for Xanax based on some other comments from Babblers, but they don't prescribe it in my surgery and said it's not used iwdely here anymore
Hi Ruby. I hope you mean 0.50 mgs
and it's really inexpensive; my regular MD prescribes it on my own say-so
yes, sorry. that would calm an elephant!
hello hego
I agree with you Ruby.
I think it's a wonderful anti anxiety med
that seems crazy to me as it's one of the most widely-prescribed drugs in the world!
not here :(
most other drugs have unpleasant side-effects.
and inexpensive in the generic
they said it's really addictive, and then put me back on seroxat, which is one of the most addictive ssri's on the market (and also has a side-effect of making people suicidal...)
Afriend of mine with fear of flying had great results with it.
the real stuff is made by Pfizer and the generic by Biogaran in Hungary. My pharmacist is pushing me to use the generic, but it is more bitter and harder for me to take
Oh terrific, Pinny
it took me a year to withdraw from seroxat when i finally stopped taking it last time
and that was only in october
We take the generic for sleep. Only 0.25 mgs
I do not find it addictive and it has really helped me. Years and years ago, I had terrible panic attacks when I was teaching, and Librium was prescribed which also worked well, but I don't think it's made any more
librium's still around, but more for bi-polar i think
my husband takes .25, too. No, I think that's lithium!
they're such bastards in the uk - they just pump us full of medication because it's more expensive to actually address the root of the problem through therapy
I am a really bad sleeper otherwise, and with three snorers nearby, I would be in big trouble otherwise
lithium is the bi-polar drug, I believe. Librium sort of disappeared when it went off patent; it was too inexpensive
It's still around Ruby
pinny, if I could loan you my Ruby, she would calm your panic attacks
no kidding, hego, but not in France
oh - gotta run - sister's about to come and take me to the store for some fruit shopping
thanks everyone for the (always useful) advice. be back later x
how are you, hego? I just fed all the roses and did a little weeding and more staking of peonies. Unfortunately, I get really tired.
good luck, pinny. I'll be thinking of you.....
p.s. ruby - i might just jump on a boat and come stay with you in france if that's a picture of your pup!
I'm good Ruby.
Bye Pinny. Feel better
yes it is and that would be lovely, just not in May because I have a houseful!!!!
I may just keep my little garden patch with perrenials this year.
It looks so neat and tidy right now.
she gave us a big scare with a terrible limp that started a week ago but, once I got my husband out of denial {what lim as her chin hit the floor], the vet said it was just a little arthritis in her shoulder and gave her a shot and she's much better. Why do things like that always come to crises on the weekend?
what limp?*
Always, Rube
many of my perennials have let me down. I had magnificent double hollyhocks for a couple of years and they just disappeared, for example
are they from bulbs?
we used to have a wonderful but too fancy gardener to help, but it got to be too expensive. Now I have a handyman who comes and does whatever I tell him and I'm no expert.....
still good, though.
I don't even know, the old gardener planted them for me and I haven't been able to find any new ones in the three years I've been looking
good morning everyone.
hello red
Hiya Red

Hi Red

ciao jmb
Hi again. Back with some coffee so I can see now. Ruby, Hollyhocks are biennials so they only come up for 2 years
aha!
Hello, HT
most of the flowers are shades of pink, red, salmon, purple and blue, but I have one peony that has dinner-plate size white flowers that are incrdible
i really need to look at the grid before i type!
Hi Br. And glad you are seeing well, Nef...
that is funny because wild ones come up in the cracks in the road! They are pallid little things, not like the ones I had
and they are seeds; so they often self-seed. But you can't always count on them doing that if some wild little critters like their seeds
The reliable plants are the roses, peonies and hardy geraniums [pellargoniums??]
and I fell right in with you.
Nef! a font of flower information!!!
I need all the help I can get; this is my first garden
perhaps we can get a rose named after you or a nenuphar for my husband's pond!
I do large round planters, but, I admit ruby I only pick the easy stuff, so I am not any help.
Not really, red. I had to find that out myself --the hard way. Ruby, the little ones in the road are probably the first year flowers; they really bloom best the 2nd year
could I beg for a clue for an i for no blank tiles...

Good morning/afternoon again.
Hi Haz!
Hi hego, Haz and everyone else
Hi Bichon
114 left... i need to get back to work so i can finish my QU*** for the day. bbl
I do too. I think it takes some work and an imagination to put the clues into a story like that
Hi Haz
Hello! I'm back with my sledgehammer, tweezers and all resources possible to get this finished.
Hi Haz and bichon
Bye jmb
Glad Spangle is on the mend. Biscuit is doing well for a 16 y.o. with end stage renal disease
Attention wandering . Better leave for a while. Bbl.
I'm relieved that we've got a diagnosis and that I've not been imagining things, bichon.
Bye, hego.
Oh no, I am just coming back from email. Spangle, the gorgeous lady is not well?
Biscuit was peeing uncontrollably in the house. That's why I brought him to the vet. I didn't expect the kidney diagnosis
No, she's got an underactive thyroid. I've put something about it in my profile, red.
oh, no, bichon! I'm sorry to hear that
thyroid issues are easily dealt with haz.. it isn't a serious problem
Hopefully Biscuit can be kept under control - specialist diet prescribed, I suppose?
Well, he is 16. Bichons can live a long time.
I know, ruru, she'll just have to get used to taking tablets, but she's usually a compliant patient.
We tried the diet and that didn't make any difference. He was already on Enalapril for his heart murmer. I just put him back on the food he really likes and he's doing reasonably well
we always sneak them in a small piece of banana or a dollop of turkey/chicken baby food.. they gobble them up
I put peanut butter on his pills and no problem
But, Biscuit has been pretty active which is a good sign
Teulu does well with pills. do dogs like bananas?
yup.. most do
goldens' love bananas
I am allergic to them, but I may get one or two to see how teulu likes it. He Loves apples.
(wraps up the q's...pats self on back)
clue for et5 please
I had my older dog on Thyroid medicine for many years haz with great results in vigor, coat, and appetitie
dogs also love carrots, apples, and oranges too. But don't give them grapes (which are supposed to be poisonous to them, although my old Tootsie used to go out and eat them right off the vine!)
they are poisonous to dogs as are raisins and chocolate
That's good to hear, ruru. I'll be glad to get the normal Spangle back again.
MIne loves broccolli stalks
did your husband diagnose the condition?
Spangle is such an interesting name, Haz. How did you name her that?
Nef, my father had a dog that ate grapes off the vine also.
but only when my father was with him...he wouldn't eat by himself.
No! He kept trying to tell me it was just her getting older. I took her to the surgery, two of the younger vets examined her, took blood tests and diagnosed it from that. He needs to stick to cattle...
and i learned apparently onions also are bad for dogs.
yes, and garlic too
hmm... those are sure signs of thyroid issues
I had the name Spangle months before I actually had her! I knew I wanted a spaniel, it was a kind of play on words and also in reference to a type of sweet we used to have - called Spangles.
Tootsie would eat our grapes, cherry tomatoes and raspberries right off the vines. She was a 10 pound shiz-poo and smart as a whip. She died about 3 years ago and was around 15 years then
We have named all our Bichons after yummy bakery treats: Muffin, Biscuit and Cupcake. Muffin died when he was 12 and Cupcake lives with my daughter
Cute name, Haz. Our dogs have always been rescued from pounds or from being put down. I've never changed a pets' name
none of my pound dogs came with any names.
I had a client ringing in this morning to make an appointment for her dog. It was called Kitty. Why would you do that?
I met several cats named "Doggy" and Dog boy. Mostly cutsie named by a 2 yr old who was still learning the difference.
LOL! Someone was confused! :-) My sister's dog was named Lacey by her kids, though. They couldn't pronounce Lassy
All our dogs have been boys, with yummy names
a good friend of mine owns a Corgi and when his sister came over she exclaimed "that dog looks like a pot roast".. hence the name Roastie
roastie is a super name!
did someone want the et 5?
I'll take it..think boo needs it
just found it
Our current dog is now about 11 years old. A male Schiz-poo named CJ (after the previous owners' first 2 grandchildren) and he was terrible when we got him: barking all of the time, peeing and pooping in the house, etc. We got him while Tootsie was still alive. He peed on the floor once and that was it! Tootsie got after him and he hasn't done it since
look down the left side,ruru
e + *** will be done + consonant
thank you
Muffin and Biscuit used to pee in the house [a Bichon thing] until Muffin died and Biscuit stopped
happy to say Dylan potty trained in a week
what breed is Dylan. Bichons [male] are notriously difficult to house break
he's a golden
JC (which is what I meant to type the first time I wrote his name here; CJ is a family friend!) is a pretty decent dog now; but he's really DUMB! He gets by on his looks now
You wouldn't think it to look at a Bichon, but they are very dominating. He's been neutered since 6 months and when a Golden pup arrived next door he was humping him and had an erection that wouldn't go away
sounds like TIger Woods
LOL ruru! and morning/afternoon all.
Hello, FM!
very funny ruru :-)))
Greetings Haz!!!
fa 6?
hi, FM. ruru, that was funny
Have you tackled the grid, FM?
not diet is the fa 6
fa6 - to make plump
Foolishly yes, but am making some headway thanks to lickety.
ty Haz
You're welcome, bichon.
I know, use of all resources is quite to be recommended for this.
A pair of magpies ahve moved into the chuchyard and were creating payhem with the ring doves this morning but I don't think they were able to get to the nest.
umm mayhem even.
maybe they weren't married
Happy Monday to all.. (-:

Hello, Aloy.
*grin* ruru. Hello Aloy!
tough grid, methinks.. haven't found 3/4 yet, but opened chat for inspiration.. interesting chat (-:
** throws in white hanky and heads for Lickety's list **
It is a hard one today.
It's a bit of a stinker, Aloy, even the normal words seem to be twisty or something.
does anyone have the second in 8? Is it related to the first in 8?
We seem to have had a run of toughies over the last few day.
why is there a male la6 but not the female?
And I thought the one for yesterday was tough! Do you suppose they've decided to make it harder these days (or am I lacking brain cells that I used to have?)
our cabana boys are hotties, so i don't know why enable won't recognize that word
They're not related, bichon. An underused lung might be said to be an in8/60 in8/55 (think blowing up balloons)
bichon - if you get a fl4 tyre on yr car you might use one of these to pump it up again.
found it! the in 8/55
ty FMitch
aloy...you used the word "hottie", but this puzzle does not recognize that word
exactly lawyer.. grumble grumble
Just be happy with the cabana boys instead :)
so, exactly what were those cabana boys?
The balloon animal artist was out of work and could not pay his rent. This led to the ev8/60 of the in8/60 in8/55.
they hang out in the PB
Nice one Haz.
lol, nice Haz
the PB is a fun place to hang out if you mess up too often. Check out FM's profile for the "G-rated" version
ar 6 anyone?
Do I get any extra points?
absolutely, Haz
ar6 - variant spelling of another ar6 that appears more often.
even with licketey, having lots of trouble . even with small words like al4/7
al + there are no **s ands or buts about it
Don't get the in 8/60??? got the other
ty Haz for ar^
ar6/24 - a plus Mr Rogers, take the vowel out of the mesh used to catch fish.
You're welcome,vici.
ty for that one, Haz
ty aloyisius - swear I tried that!
in8/60 - descriptive of one who is not doing anything. Or of a volcano that does not erupt.
thank you ...temporarily blinded by that one
sorry haz dont get it
so many phantoms today
am having fun.. vetican, a holy place for veterinarians
so many pls that I missed the first time through...

in8/60 - use in as a prefix meaning opposite. Sedentary, indolent.

Everyone is on a roll this afternoon.

ooh.. looking back to see my booboo..

en7 - en plus a word that means to hug or keep hold of.
thank you again

Did they really? Did the restaurant have to order in extra supplies for her?

lovely, Haz.. needed that one, ty ]
Haz to the rescue again, was just staring at the word thinking how do I clue that.

You're welcome. Apparently it means 'near the ear'.

one of the salivary glands, I believe
It'll not be one of Victoria Beckham's most overworked glands, in that case.

Back shortly as well..
Back again, and found half a dozen silly 4 letter words. Fresh eyeys do help.
Yes, those eyeys are worth their weight in gold.
or if I had typed it worth their weight in glod :)
down to the last dozen.. think I'll try FM and Haz's fresh eye break.. brb
what is the value of glod these days?
Absolutely. The adverts would be appearing - sell your unwanted glod!'
glod it at an all time high allegedly but glod is priceless! Hi kje.
Hello, kje.
hello
Oh give me strenght, it is a miracle I find any words in the grid sometimes.
It's a miracle that we understand you, but we do. Every wod.
this is a slow one... not hard, just few that build off each other
done...yippee
yay ru
Well done, ruru!
Congrats ruru!!
!
YAY ruru! (took you long enough) *wink*
stiddy!! long time, are you still juggling a million balls?
Can I have a clue for the ar6/24 please.
like the ar 6 yesterday ..spelled differently
seriously ru? youi expect us to remember yesterday's grid? LOLOL
like juke joynt
hi all. rurocks, that clue only helps if you were here yesterday. i was celbrating my 60th birthday and just didn't have time to babble
back... aaach, the armadillos are tearing up my lawn
happy birthday, guernsey!
aw... Happy belated birthday. GG
Happy Birthday for yesterday gg.
ty rurocks
Happy Birthday to GG!
Now there is a phrase you don't here in the UK Aloy.
for a moment i started to look for armodillos in the grid
in England it is pecadillos that tear up the gardens
.. asked an expert what to do and he said, "well, I hear they are delicious"
so then I asked him.. "do you skin them or shell them"?
(they taste like chicken)
yes, I have heard of people eating them... but how do you kill the thing with all that armor? (except running over them, I mean)
ugh
you could break an ankle in the holes they leave
armadillo pizza anyone?
do not do that... not all it is cracked up to be
I read that coyotes are their #1 predator
.. and that they are VERY stinky!
rurocks, what do you recommend for the pecadillos?
coyotes or armadillos?
a year away from the british tabloids
armadillos have bad breath
now that you say that, I did hear about someone using coyote urine to keep yard pests at bay... apparently you can buy it, then sprinkle it around... the critters smell coyote and leave
armadillos.. so, if you transport them.. like trap and release, beware.. but you need a license to relocate them
makes one wonder whose job it is to collect coyote urine
and how do you know that ruru?
i believe tiger dung is good as well
kje, I read on the net that human urine works too
some women use coyote urine to keep other women away from their cabana boys
Well, the things you learn on Babble!
oh no... shaking mental image of aloy peeing all over her yard
lol ruru !
... kje, I am seriously considering alternatives..
micturate would be nicer tho
*passes aloy a gallon of water*... start drinking
ty kje
the q words are eluding me... are they weird or am I just dense today?
want any clues kje?
yes
sure... I have no pride
there is a goodly ration of them today. qu5 and 6
qu6/27 qu+a nom de plume
a nom de plume in the singular, i mean
i think my clues are probably as clear as mud.
ty, got it
qu +end of continent with kangaroos
that's better, lawyer
I liked yours GG, had to think a sec
i know....it helped me get the word when someone used that clue earlier
different clues work for different people, i guess. could anyone help me with the oi6, please
you need it to lubricate something, gg
think positively, yes I ***

Now FM has gone I will get the olives out LOL
what's FM's problem with olives?
Nothing we always fight over the last ones
i've got a very good olive pate in the frig. got it from Sainsbury's last week. try it on some melba toast.
Oh that does sound good I will try that (but only a little melba toast as I am on a healthy living diet)
melba is healthy (back again after re-booting; trying to upload pics and cant find the device. :-(
Thats okay then Nef thanks, welcome back
would you prefer a crispbread?
please try some too, Nef
Yes I think a crispbread is better
and while we're munching, if anyone could help me with the sa6/18, i'd be very grateful
sa6/18 - looks almost like a description of a salty solution, but change the final vowel.
phone back in a mo
ty, haz. it's a bit like the girl's name as well
It is.
olive pate. I'm trying to imagine what it's made of (I'm not much of a cook)
tapenade is lovely
and very easy to make
:) it's for me to know and you to guess. nef
yes, i must try and make some myself now i've discovered how nice it is.
it's a tapenade? Okay, that I can understand. Pate always makes me think of liver...
The phone always rings when I am playing Babble!
i'm going to have to go and make some phonecalls myself now. i'lll be back later. bye all
Bye guernseygirl see you later
bye, guernsey.
Bye guernsey.
bye
Haz have you looked at google maps? My granddaughter put it on the other day and there was my hubby getting into the car.very odd looking at it.
I know! It's a bit eery, isn't it? My daughter's boyfriend and some of his friends are pictured crossing a road in Belfast.
Our house must have been done a couple of years ago at the end of a soggy summer.
It's a bit annoying as we've painted the house since then and it looks much better now.
And last year's garden looked better as well.
I saw the car back at the end of the summer last year, so perhaps these are new ones
They must be doing things by degrees. I don't know whether I approve of the idea or not.
I dont think I do but it didnt stop me looking at my friends houses around the country
I must admit that I used it to look at my daughter's flat in Edinburgh.
There weren't any unsavoury characters hanging around, so that was good.
We are nosy I suppose, I want to know why my friends in Carmarthen had scaffolding around their house LOL
It must be something more than just painting.
Thats what I thought, I will phone on the weekend
You must be really subtle. Ask them if they can recommend any good scaffolders, that sort of thing.
Has Ata been around?
LOL there son owns a scaffolding firm
She's actually on holiday in the Scillies. With husband and Hobbit, but minus the cat.
She probably won't have time to babble but she'll keep in touch via e-mail.
Oh Im pleased about that, she hasnt seemed too happy lately
No, she's not impressed with her home set up.
Fingers crossed that it will work out for her.
We'll see what develops.
What about you, caitlyn, still continuing to lose weight or have you reached your target?
I didnt set myself a target, I am just eating healthy
But I have lost 3stone 4 pounds!
That's mighty impressive, you must be delighted.
wow, caitlyn, what did you do?
Thanks Nef, I just grill meat, have tons of salads and boiled potatoes
Hi Caitlyn
no fresh fruits and other veggies?
Hi Boo
NM, I didn't see the word "salads" in the first reading...
Yes I should have said that Nef, Im not a big fruit eater but I eat fresh veggies
crossy needs to lose 3 stone;(
(I didn't have chatlog all the way open, I slide chat shut by narrowing the window when I'm concentrating on finding words)
Come and have your meals with me crossy hubby has lost 3 stone also
hello all... taking a mini-break... *wonders if cross has kidney trouble -- losing stones?)
hello caitlyn! ((hugs))
Hi stid!!
hi stid!
and crossy
hey Nef -- home for today?
lol stid
clue for the last fi 4/7
3 x 14 = crossy's stones
in pounds
hey science!
stone=a unit of british measure equal to aprox 6.35 kilo or about 14 ponds give or take
yep. And needing to relax for a change.
stones are HEAVY!
pounds*
Hi science
*sends nice tea, relaxing music and pretty pictures for Nef to relax by* do you need a cabana boy too?
I could lose 2 stones but I'm not motivated right now to do so
I feel more energetic being lighter
I wouldn't mind losing one stone, but I think two would make me too thin. That assumes that I gain muscle to replace the huge fat stones I currently carry! LOL
good for you caitlyn. that's the whole point, isn't it? feeling better and more enjoyment out of life as a result
no, stid. DH has had a relapse in his MS; so dealing with high dose steroid effects. Cabana boys won't help unless they could tie down DH and *make* him relax!
did the mathand im about 3.5 stoone over my optimum! not good
have you ever weighed that little as anadult, crossy?
oh no, Nef. *sends chamomile tea to Nef's DH* I have family members who occasionally get steriods and they react the same way. :-(
Thats what started us healthy eating crossy, It was no good for our general health
my wife gets all bloated and weight gain and twitchy among other things
Sorry you are having problems Nef (((hugs)))
((NEF)) give you a big ole crossy bear hug;)
On Thursday, DH was talking so loud and fast I couldn't understand him; I felt like my ears couldn't hear as fast as he was talking
I don't actually have a scale though, so I measure "fitness" by whether I fit my jeans with room to spare or not. I am almost ready to buy a couple pairs next size down and see if that helps me refocus on exercise.
*adds earmuffs for Nef*
LOL
now that I can walk, that is ... Nef did you know I haven't used my cane in about THREE weeks? *proud mama look* but I do rest an awful lot when I get home
thanks, guys. It's appreciated. But I'm so relieved that he is responding (symptom-wise) to the steroids that *this* is almost a piece of cake right now (other than holding him back and staying out of his way at other times
when i was 14 i weighed 170 pounds, when i was doing exercise fitness nut thing at 30 i was 164 so im giving my self a optimum weight goal of 180
YAY, stid! That's terrific! What's made the difference?
14 year olds weigh less than *cough cough* year old men... and they should.
how old are you now, crossy?
48
Middle age spread perhaps crossy
gravity sucks lol
I think time made the difference, Nef -- I was having some trouble with the hip a couple years ago, but what really damaged it was the CT scan (or MRI?) a year and a half ago... it made it really angry and inflamed. It just took this long for the inflammation to go away, I think. And then Tom is careful to set my hip at least every other day now, so it never rests out of the socket for too long.
oh well... I am down to 73 (got halfway lastnight) so will grab the list
i have had many ct,s and mri,s what did they do to damage things stid?
Very painful stid ((((hugs)))))
I really feel that I does us good to carry around about 5-10 pounds of extra weight as we age. I've seen so many people who lose weight with a devastating illness, and having just 5-10 pounds extra helps those pateints do better (this is my OWN experience and thinking; but there are also some researchers who agree
i mean i get a mri weekly every time the cancer pops up again
i agree nef,thats why i picked 180 or so
I think, cross, though they refused to re-xray at the time that the fluid for the scan created a hydraulic situation, forcing the hip further out of the socket than ever and holding it there... I couldn't bend or straighten my leg for a couple weeks after the scan.
OUCH!
well then I am just about the right amount of "well paddedness" now Nef... LOL my mother's family the women all turn into Monty Python-style "pepperpots" as they age
oh they gave you that injection that feels hot going in to enhance resolution
yep. that's the one cross.
i hate that stuff
and the kicker is that gadolinium in and of itself increases inflammation. So it was a double whammy
Good afternoon, Babblonians!
hey Judi!
crossy, with your particular history, I'd probably settle for 190 (due to the cancer). 180 might be cutting it close (IMHO, anyway)
:(
Hi Judi!!
maybe nef, last cancer or the second..i went in at 240 and came out at 165
happy lunchtime, all!
stid, did they ever do any sort of steroid injections; or was that contraindicated?
clue for in 8/55
Hi Eva!!
Hi Judi and EvaN!
oh gee cross. golly golly golly. *worried mama look*
hey boo
you want the thing that blows up the tire -- air hose, boo
in8,55 what you call someone who fills tires with air
hey bubba! must be lunchtime somewhere...
yep, crossy, that's why I said that. BUT the cancer better not come back! <thinking evil on cancer; blessings on Crossy>
lol stid that is old news now no need for worried mama,i have beaten 3 cancers now and and fat and fluffy like one of those chubby mniature horses lol
ty
my last A word is hte AR 6
its certainly lunchtime here -- hence my first chog visit today...
ty nef
Hi Stid, it is lunchtime here
I had a steriod injection last summer -- didn't affect the pain, but did make the hip more stable for a couple months. But I am "off" orthopedists... my symptoms are not what they usually deal with so they resent me.
ar6+ A + *** Rogers + it's *o* mine!
thanks for the AR! As axed!
crossy you are such an inspiration to many, my brother is having treatment for lung cancer at the moment and I have told him about you so thank you
(denying ownership of something for the end of that clue, BTW)
if i were there id carry you around to save wear on your hip stiddles
It's only ten here. but with you-all coming in, now I am hungry! (so much for diets...)
Go and get something to eat stid
Crossy, you're so chivalrous. *drops lace hankie and bats eyelashes*
cait, you tell your brother that his outlook and attitude through this is 70% of the battle and to fight it every day, take his meds when he is supposed to,get lots of fresh air and try and keep everything as normal as possible
thanks cross, you're a sweetie. But it's okay now, and I even helped spread the minerals for the garden yesterday! not digging yet, but can get down (and up again) to weed! *happy mama look* the thing now is just to be careful about the mechanics as I use the leg again. It'll come. By August (you're all coming, right?) I'll be dancing and running, I bet!
I will thank you crossy
*sipping on tea* I ate an actual breakfast today caitlyn, can wait until I am actually hungry-hungry to eat!
Tea sounds good; off to heat some water now
if this is his first cancer and has any questions on day to day living diet chemo or radiation he can yak at me at chipdip33@hotmail.com just get him to put your name or babble in the header
and i must leave you ladies,it is time for ole crossy to go soap down this mass of mucle and head out
That is so kind crossy I will certainly pass that to him
poof
Cs complete! down to 54 and want to get a good 45 minutes work in on some writing before I return...
see you again soon cross!
and see you-all again soon I hope. ((caitlyn)) let your brother know I'll put him on my "list" and send him good thoughts.
*poof*
And its time for me to go also, great seeing you all ((((((stid ))))) thanks, and bye all
Hello all . On lunch break here. Next patient is due in 15 minutes.
15 whole minutes for a lunch break Scrabs? Or did you eat already?
I have been on lunch break and just found the time to check in here.
(It looks like everyone took off when I went and put the kettle on!
ooh, Dr Scrabs, may i request some medical advice?
I forgot that I disliked this grid when I was here thismorning. Yes, Eva.
i have patches of itcky, dry skin/rash on the fronts of my ankles. it has been there on + off for a few years now, but it finally seems to be rather permanent. any ideas? our old roomie (also a doctor) suggested hydracortizone, which had worked at first, but it is no longer working.
itchy*
I would frequently apply a moisturizer through the day and the hydrocortisone 3 times daily. If not improving see a doc, Derm MD if possible
Is it silvery, scaly? Anywhere else?
May be psoriasis.
not silver + scaly that i can tell. in the past, it has been further up my shins, but only ever on the front of my legs.
on its own, it just seems like dry skin, but its so itchy that i now have red bumps + scratches from, well, scratching.
Maybe related to footwear?
You need to have a stronger steroid cream--Rx needed.
active
i dont think so... most of the footwear im wearing these days stops well below the affected area...
are your ankles puffy, EvaN, when the itching is bad?
Oops, sorry! I do not have Babble Expert here.
i will look into a Drs Appt. i had a feeling i would need one, but i just wanted an opinion in case you had a quick-n-easy idea. :)
Darn! At least that wasn't a word.
clue for li 5/10
don't worry, Scrabs, I had that word already. ;-)
Yes it waaaaas.
Oh, that last word didn't enter chat. Regardless, I get to sprint to the PB! *yippee*
et 5/16 please
Type of gas (petroleum), Miz.
I have neither li5 nor et5...yet. *stuffing cheeks with goodies in PB*
et5/16. think back to chem class .. and hi
EvaN, DH had the same thign with his lower legs. We finally figured out that the itching was worse whenever he had some swelling in the area. Sometimes it was very subtle; but once he started using a stronger steroid cream and putting his feet up for 20 minutes a couple times of day, the itching went away
it's nice to have a doctor friend to consult about stuff like that. one doesn't want to drain the medical system unnecessarily, when a quick question could suffice instead of an appointment.
thanks dorens!!
Hi Doren + Hurshy!!
hiya
And hi to you (all)!
And, I like to help people navigate the medical world, avoiding unnecessary visits whenever possible.
and this also reduces the spread of germs!
hi Dorens, Hurshy and MizHoffle
scrabbler, you are a one-woman marvel
amen to that, hurshy
Argh, new patient is here with a pile of medical records but no vaccine record.
I just do my jon, Hurshy.
*job
you're babbling while seeing a patient??
li5 = legal
ooh, sorry for disappearing -- manager came over... anywho, thanks for the advice, scrabs!
hi all, and what is Sauron doing in the grid???? 8-O
li 5/10 is when a light bulb is on it is *** + ** I was saying
anyone else watch last week's Glee episode... twice... and have lots of madonna songs stuck in their head as a result?
Nurse is getting kiddo weighed, measured, chart note ready. She handed me pile of records from previous doc---military health care records.
trying to take it over, presumably, gwen!
TY, bichon
yvw
nef -- i do sometimes get puffy ankles. never really noticed if the puffiness and itchiness coincide, but i will definitely make a mental note to keep an eye out!
anyone? anyone? (glee/madonna). sigh. that would make me pathetic.
it won't hurt to try it. DH was totally unaware of the connection until the MD told him that they were puffy (*I* hadn't noticed it either)
Sorry, Hurshy. I don't sqee for Glee.
Hi all - and I love glee but havent watched this weeks episode yet. Recorded it on DVR. Maybe tonight.
sorry hurshy, i dont watch it. i only allow myself to be addicted to one show at a time, and LOST is it for me! (though i DO sometimes watch the glee stuff on youtube)
funny you bring it up nef -- i had previously asked Dr Scrabs about my randomly swollen ankles. heh
hurshy, several people I know watch glee and were talking about it the other day. Sorry, I'm not a fan of network shows
well, sing with me and make me feel better
Glee is one of the best shows on TV!
open your heart to me, baby i'll hold the lock and you hold the key...
I have all of the CDs
what are we singing
madonna songs
OK, I must go. Tike is ready!
And just downloaded the Madonna episode music
gotcha
HAGD, Scrabs!
lo 5/10, first one? please
hi and by scrabb
Must go forage for some food. BBL.
just started the puzzle so dont have much yet and no list yet, sorry bichon
got, nm
that's okay Mom
i hear you call my name and it feels like.... home
just get on and lost it already - kids taking over - see you later
62 done and I'm stuck
guess i'll go get ice cream
where are all the singers
I watch people sing, but you don't want to hear me sing
it's type-singing, you don't have to have a good voice, just a lack of typos.
:)
Hi Momneedshelp
does anyone have a bit of extra ambition today? I sure could use some to get moving....
hi everybody who's come into chat in the past 15 minutes
ambition is necessary to accomplishment.
ambition is a good servant, but a bad master.
I haven't done anything but Babble so far today and here it is; 12:45 PM!
*sings* ambition.... ambition! ambition... ambition!
(that's to the tune of 'tradition', if you didn't catch that)
is one of those for me, hursh?
Mercedes singing "And I'm telling you..."...she has a set of pipes on her
they're all for you.
(you sound "chipper as an old June bug" as a friend of DH's used to say!)
i don't need any ambition, myself.
LOL! Thanks! :-D
i am chipper. ever since i started going to bed earlier and doing the wii fit in the mornings, i feel a lot better all the time.
That sounds like a good plan. I could do that if I could hook up my wii soon!
"i'd like to give a big shout-out to nintendo for radically improving my life..."
the going to bed earlier is always a struggle for me, however (40 years of working off shifts; now 1 1/2 years of a day job and I still like my time at the end of the day!)
hello again everybody
i still have some time at the end of the day, i just make myself tivo the later shows and watch them another day
nef, as long as I get 8 hrs, I don't care which 8!
I'm just at half in this very difficult grid
the thing is, there's no good tv on before 7, so if i tivo stuff, i can watch it the next day in the early evening. and i can do stepping on my wii while watching!
listed at 70....it's too cloudy to get to halfway
hi harry h!
hihi
how do you do the TV and the wii at the same time?
hi Harry
lo 6/27 please (Can Anybody Find Me Somebody To Love? - Glee)
hinef
there are certain wii fit programs that are "free" something. free step, free run. you start it going, and then you switch to the tv, and the wii keeps track of your exercise. the remote makes little noises so you can keep the pace if stepping, etc.
i love the ella enchanted version of that song, miz
Me too! I have that soundtrack also (I love soundtracks)
lo6 Chinese fruit like a kum****
Anne Hathaway has a beautiful voice (she was actually top singer in New Jersey in high school)
Hi babblers!
hi beach
I don't know any Chinese fruits, ruby
5 minutes more here; then off to do housework
cool, i wondered if that was really her doing the song. i thought so, but then when i was younger i also thought michael j fox sang "johnny b goode" himself in back to the future, and that turned out not to be true.
hi beach
hi all *props eyelids with tooth picks*
same ending
hi jmc!
hi jmc. What time did you get home last night?
I guess I don't know the ending...the ending I am thinking of isn't in the grid
**od er** demonstratum
q***
got it!
A little slow here
yay miz!
ahem this morning
in8/55?
Okay. Time to get something done now. BBL
somebody who fills tires
What you do to tires
jmc! What happened? I thought you were boarding the flight!?
clue for ni 5 pls
ty!
Back again. Cute kid--12 mo old for routine visit + vaccines.
hi scrabbler
I need a 3rd Q word. I have qu5 and related qu6.
We had a huge thunderstorm here today but it stopped now
Bon jour, Ruby.
Scrabs, what do you think about the number of vaccines we give little kids these days?
bon jour to you!
I LOVE thunderstorms IF I am safe.
scrabs qu + ending to kangaroo continent
They save lives, Nef!
do you shut down your computer when there's lightning?
FW!!!
TY, wildcat. New word for me.
I love them too, just not when you are watching them in a plane while in the air
yw me 2
hi wildcat!
Yikes, Miz, that is scary!
monkeys found it
they do; but 26 in 24 months? Can't some of them be spread out a bit?
yes
hi ruby
OK, must run, thanks for the clues... see ya!
bye kje
It was! And proceeded to spend too much time in the Chicago airport before getting the last flight out at a really late time
No added risk, Nef. On a daily basis kids (all of us) get bombarded by tens of thousands of germs. Vaccines give just a small fraction of that.
house re vaccines to skeptical parent: "you don't think they work?" parent: "i think some big pharmaceutical company wants me to Think that they work" house: "yeah... you know what else is a great money maker? teeny, tiny coffins."
I saw that one, Hurshy.
i LOVE that conversation.
When I was a med student + resident, in the 80's, I regularly saw kids with bacterial infections, e.g. meningitis, that are now prevented by the Hib + pneumococcal vaccines.
it just overwhelmed me when I saw that time table for US vaccines recently.
almost as much as i love the one where he tells the woman she has a "parasite" growing inside her (ie baby) and confirms it is her husband's baby and she is so grateful that she wants him to deliver the baby
THAT woman was so cute.
I just had a similar conversation last week with a mother that said she was declining vaccines for her 4 mo old daughter. "I don't trust the vaccines. I don't believe in them." I said, "Well, you must accept responsibility if your child dies from a vaccine-preventable infection."
hurshy, ive gotta point a finger at you now. im listening to a bunch of glee songs now. *dances in office chair*
the teeny, tiny coffins line is much funnier. you should try that one.
yay evanadine!!
think of how many children die each year from measles!
Nef, they are life-saving. The emotion + drama over the vaccines should be focused on the morbidity + mortality that vaccines prevent.
something is just WRONG about listening to perky high school kids singing "Rehab" heh
Do we have some Gleek converts?
Hi Scrabbler and Eva
Parents of non-vaccinated kids should be TERRIFIED that their kids will die from measles, meningitis, etc
89 words and good night everybody
Bye Ruby
i never disliked it, i just cant make any more time in my viewing schedule until LOST is over. :)
I agree, scrabbler!
Ya know, you are all making it really hard to concentrate on this grid! Stop talking about things that are interesting!! :P
very true, Scrabs. I agree; I'm just saying I was blown away by the timetable. I'm 100% FOR vaccinations; however my DIL is totally against them.
You can catch Glee on Hulu or Fox
Now that 24 is coming to an end my friend and I need to get hooked on another show to discuss. We might watch Lost from the start as neither of us has wtached that.
do they have kids yetm nef?
did anybody else like Deadwood?
But I do agree with the Lost thing since they keep going 2 minutes over and American Idol goes long, so I can't extend Glee
It was my altime-favorite show and they only showed 2 of 3 seasons here!
So sad, Nef, that fear + anxiety overwhelm smart decision-making .
Childhood vaccines were one of the greatest inventions of the 20th century, along with antibiotics.
when I was a kid, we couldn't go to the beach or to pools for fear of polio. And then the vaccine came and there was respite from the summer heat in NY
back (counseling call)
*gulps coffee*
DIL is a whacko, Scrabs. (And mentally ill to boot). I'm just trying to make sure my grandson gets what is necessary in time
scrabs -- wait another month until its over + i will let you know if LOST is worth investing your time into. ;)
my DIL is shlepping my son to Turin to see the shroud! How crazy is that?
I tell parents to walk through old cemeteries--parents had 10 or so kids, hoping a few would survive to adulthood. You can see clusters of their kids that died within days or weeks of one another--measles, meningitis, pneumonia...
there is a baby cemetery in Tokyo that should be required visiting for all potential parents
BRB
okay, jmc. how come you didn't get home til this AM? (I'm hanging here til you tell me. I thought your flight was called and you were boarding around 10 PM last night
ur 6/24 please
it was 10 pm in California (1 pm DC) + minor 1/2 delay + 5 hour flight= 6:30 a.m.
*1 A.M. DC
WOW, jmc! No wonder! And you still had to work today?
*rifles staffer desk drawers for Red Bull*
I had a noon appointment, a 2 pm conference call and a 4 pm client meeting
BLAH! You need some sleep, jmc!
So you will be comatose soon, jm.
I will get some sleep after the client meeting
I slept some on the plane and took a 1/2 hour nap after I left my staffer off at his house\
thank goodness I get the big salary to make it all worthwhile ;-D
well, I need to get some housework done now. BBL everyone. Happy Babbling
bye nef have fun cleaning!
days like today i wish the grid took three letter words!
sweeeeeeeeeeeeet caroliiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiine!! !
But then we would have a big list!
Neil Diamond
I have seen him twice and when 2 of his songs were on Glee, I was in heaven!
He puts on one hell of a concert, 2 full hours plus encores
Ooh, I passed halfway. Now at 86/78.
afternoon....this grid is tedious
down to 18
Hi SG. Yep, a toughie.
How are you surviving, SG? 4 wks to go?
Wow, Miz!
Yes - 8 teaching days, 2 review days, 4 days of finals, then a one week break before the ridiculous summer sessions begin
But I have been plowing away for way too long...this grid is awful!
Woo hoo, SG! Uh, oh, you teach all summer too?
they make me....i do not like
whoo hooo science
Did you find ur6, Miz?
hey jmc
no
do you have it?
i have found 15 words so far
Nope, searching + trying ridiculous non-words.
but i did find an 8
I have in8.
ur6: ur + vowel + nasty lil bloodsucker

Scrabs, would 6 year old Naproxen still have any effect?
medical term
ty
It may be less potent. Can someone get new naproxen for you?
probably not
Newborn is getting checked in. I love them.
my friend is a pharmacist and always tells me outdated medicine is OK but just weak - May have to take more to get full effect.
hope mom is older than 18!
newbies are the best
off to take some
I like newbie sounds
Sadly that is too often not the case, SG. I have dozens of babies and older kids that I want to put into the Scrabbler Orphanage.
fils
TY, Jay. Please, more easy clues.
oops
Jay, I just noticed that you are female.
i also love newborns...as long as they are someone elses and not mine;)
it's the pain
2!!
My best friend is a NICU nurse and she has stories - kids having kids, druggies having kids, it just goes on, never mind the nice folks trying so hard and have a sick baby. Believe me I know what that is like.
Yes, Crossy! Go Miz!
newborns are boooooring
go Miz go
wesley is so much more interesting now that he is a toddler.
They are fascinating to observe but high-maintenance.
I used to work with HIV positive newbies
Hi Crossy - nice to see you

howdy mom,scrabbs,science and everyone elseA;)
It is so sad that a pregnant mother's "wants" trump embryo's/fetus' needs.
crossy ! hating this grid 52 left
oh - science that is very sad for those poor children and the crack babies - they didnt ask for what they have to go through
that is the way that type is scabs

And alcohol use during pregnancy is common yet the visible fetal alcohol spectrum is tough to diagnose.
OK, off to see this newborn.

This seems like a tough grid today ... although I had a dream last night where we were all struggling with a grid that only had 7 words. But it was horribly hard, and the most anyone found was 3. (I know, I have strange dreams...)
How's the grid today?
well done Jay
slightly easier than yesterday
it bites gadget
Yeah...it seems random
glad I am not the only one to dream about word games
or was it saturday? whatever the day was with the hard one.
clue for pa 7 pls
sorry boo dont have it
yesterday's was unappealing. Now I'm at work and anything but work is appealing.
sounds like a reasonable dream to me ch1212
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
better than the ones i have!
i need dark chocolate NOW
i once had a dream of a grid of a grid with four 17 letter words lol
Sexy babble dreams? Dreams with grids with dirty words?
In the dream, I was struggling with the 7 word grid and feeling really stupid, then I read the chat log, and Haz was having a hard time too -- then I didn't feel so bad.
*rummages in pb cabinet for dark chocolate for science*
Dark Chocolate- yes!
mm i have a stutter today
i had a very nice dream about casey, from american idol, the other night... sigh.
Why, hurshy! Do tell!
*tosses pieces of dark chocolate in various directions throughout the chog*
remember this is a family site....
Hi everybody. Could I get a clue for the LO 6/27, please?

ack, what's bimbo GOP lady doing in the grid, yuck yuck yuck
Bimbo GOP lady gets herself everywhere.
hey how did that happen??
But she is not a word.
greetings all!
Among the other things she is not.
yes, i wasn't avoiding saying her name bc of the pb, i was just avoiding saying it.
I know you weren't- I was just saying it is another thing she is not qualified to be.
:)
Poor Sarah- can't even be a word!
i wonder who i find more annoying, her or paris hilton?
clue for the last pa 6/21

I love Glee!!!!!!!!!
well basically, i'm a wannabe brit.
Gotcha.
hursh, did you see Young Victoria? wonderful!
my politics are a few hundred years out of date - i'm a loyalist. think the american revolution was a big mistake.
Sometimes I wonder.
ok ,crossy is gonna eat all these honey garlic coated bbq ribs all by his lonesome then.......
But that damn stamp act...
the upside is that when your politics are completely irrelevant, you never get into arguments about them.
une, i have not yet seen it. will keep an eye out.
Brilliant!
it's out on DVD!!
so are a zillion other things in my netflix queue! :)
got it from Redbox for a dollar! :-)
politics is something that people in sits talk about to get elected into to power and never deliver on,so i tend to ignore them
Why isn't "alto" accepted!?
Hurshy, you can stop worrying, Honey - we're planning to take back the colony ... the Queen Mary in Long Beach, CA. and the bridge at Lake Havasu ... we'r inching our way across the countryside.

Oh good lord, are the British coming again?
WE'RE HERE!!!

Oops. My bad.

I also would like to announce to all who care that I have just gotten a most lovely job offer....I'm in shock.
that was those dratted spaniards.
wonderful, red!!!
oh, man, i want a lovely job offer!!! what is it, red??
congrats, on the job, red
congrats red!!
yes, I think if I can stand it, it will be the one to bank for retirement.
wowser!
if there's a possibility it's almost can't-stand-able, that doesn't sound that lovely.
Its so odd. The same job, (Emergency) different hospital, but somehow almost 4.00 more an hour, and with the shift ifferentials, It will be almost 10.00 more an hour.
nice. is it a no-divert facility or somesuch then?
well that does sound niiiiiiice. what is the standing it question???
I work at a no divert facility now.
DIvert is rare in Florida.
ah, okay :)
Aw, the newborn was adorable.
howdy, scrabs :-)
the other nice part of the job offer is that the hospital is only 2 miles from home, and I get a 50% dicount on my gym membership that I already have....
*still waiting for the con shoe to drop*
sounds terrific, red!
Scrabbs! Babies!!!
Well, it's a unknown facility. It could be that there are not nice people there, or somesuch, but...there are not many openings, so, that is usually a good sign.
very nice, red :)
hi' scrabbs
Woo hoo, Red! i am so happy for you!
it sounded worse than that cause you said "if i can stand it". you must just be a pessimist like me!
There are always unknowns when taking a new job.
I am always nervous about going into a place unseen. Oh And they gave me a sign on Bonus as well.
Scrabbs who had a baby?
en6>
DC, I need some advice about salt....Can I ask about cooking and salt?
sure thing
I am at the Indian Reservation Health Ctr on Mondays and I just saw a newborn. I love newborns wherever I see them.
PA7/36 refers to 'near the ear' -
sa4 = in grid
ooooh Scrabbs.
You worked on a res in NM in the past, Red.
Well, Lately I have been cooking things and adding salt and it is Always seeming to be too much, even if I do the taste test. so is there something else I could use instead of salt that would not be so, well salty????
Hurshy, I think Drake or ERaleigh sailed up the left coast, so it should be ours (Britain).
Not too fond of New Meixco, I admit.
how early in the cooking process re you adding the sa4?
Well, if what CHristine says is true, there is always Florida.
sea salt has a salty flavor without being as bad for you...
enters PB with EvaN.
and how fin a grind of sa4 are you using?
and iodized or non-iodizide?
For spaghetti, I put it in the water...ahead of time and then try to add to taste...
heh, its ok, red. we can celebrate the job offer in there. ;)
Go to Penzey.com, they have a substitute that might be right for you.
Iodized...and fairly regular size, I am not a salt aficionado.
Darn. Hands out champers to Eva! with strawberries...
boiling pasta - add sa4 to water, if desired, and add no more to pasta, as cheese add sa4 too.
And SA**
i have no time for pessimisim in my life any more, there is no tomorrow ,or yesterday just today to live to its fullest,i used to be a type a high tension,3 cappachino workaholic on his way to a nice 401k and a heart attack..life in last five years has made me a wiser person,my big chore today is to set my boy up with some roller blades and take a walkabout to find a pretty flower for my wifes hair;)
ah, get a coarser grain, at least coarse kosher. easier to see and control
cheese, and Sa** of course...
i use a nice coarse mediterranian sea salt;)
Dc that will help a lot, I never even thought about that...
add it early - in the sautee part of cooking process, adding more as early as possible.
Oh Crossy, how I wish I had one of you......
;)
96 left back to work ... bbl
hi and bye jmbdobie.
Wow, this is really very helpful DC, I am amazed at how difficult cooking is for me.
2 left and the babies are waking
if something is too sa4y, add spice, and vice-versa

ty for vi6!
;)
I'm not a foodie but I do like the things I cook to be edible. this will help a lot. I was so mad to mess up the curry as it isnt cheap....
i know the feeling red,i did up a rigatoni ala vodka the other day,1 tsp of excess butter runied it;(
Hi red. I'm not really here. I am working
had to make a new batch
I ruined a potato casserole, a sinple dish with too much butter...
I am not at work, but still nice to see you wht.
its amazing how excess butter can do a dish in
oh the non-racist sexism!

One would think more butter would always be better.

la6 counts but not the feminine form.
Ok, hurshy, I need a clue so I can be outraged also!

saaaaaid if you feel like givin me a lifetime of devotion if you've got the no6 i second that emotion
hurshy is still stinging - gotta luv it!
i see a disco ball in the pb
crossy - we cook our ribs first too - we simmer them in a small bath of water for 2 hours - covered (on the grill)
same as boiling first
first ta 5 please pretty please
i messed it up though
it is easier if you cannot spend 3 hours in front of a slow going bbq..they would not find me till ice out in the spring lol
oh well.
they end up falling off the bone tender - oh now I cant wait for ribs - who started this anyway
i did,i have 3 racks in a maranade bath
sounds delicious
funny, we do that on the gas grill but do the finish cooking on charcoal
charcoal is best
no one noticed hurshy - shhh
i like to use some wood also for the flavor
you got that right crossy -no better flavor than grilling on charcoal
you light the charcoal and in 3 beers it is ready for the ribs;))
your timing is perfecto!!!
;))))
now I have got to get serious here - back to the E's
yes,the grid need my attention as well
just shoot me *whispering - always hated E's*
why couldnt the 7 be a plural of the 6 - hmmph
because the world is just that cruel
lol i had the fl 7/40 for ages now but it took me till now to get the fl4/7
it's a fl4, fl4 world, it's a fl4 fl4 world i'm convinced it's fl4 as a welcoming mat...
lol i think the earth is shaped like an egg
that's part of a song from stan freeberg's history of the united states of america volume one
pa 7?????
**thinking** may skip E's and go back later for a fresh look - OK on to F's
kind ferdinand sings to columbus about how the earth is fl4 and he's crazy, and columbus sings back to him i'm convinced it's round and it's gonna be found when all the results are in it's a round world now and it's always been!

OHHHH yeah - lucky husband is still alive after Friday night (day 2)
I have to tell on mom --- last week she was referring to herself as the bride of Chucky.

The best success rates are for those who go to support groups. If you're not attending, make sure to keep taking encouragement from those of us who have done it. I had smoked for 20 years when I quit.
You can do it, and every day will be hell, but it's worth it, if for no other reason than keeping the doctor bills down.
I stoped smoking after 17 because my 5 y.o. cried that he wanted me to stop
I cant thank you all enough for your support. Have friends too that are great. Just my immediate family doesnt get it. Its all about me anyway - something I did on my own and will take care of on my own.
Hi Bichon
hi Mom
I think your daughter and son get it Mom
43 years for me
Good strong mind and spirit Mom. I'm proud of you and I totally understand.
Even with smoking so long - I have been very healthy. If my doctor only told me years ago that your lungs sound like crap, I would have quit sooner, but every year they say you everything sounds great .....
I haven't had a cigarette for 33 years
wow lynxxx and bichon
I have to run out of here fast tho. It's later than I thought and I have to get dinner going. Take care!
congratulations to all of you who have quit

hey peri, toyotas have come WAY down in price lately
Omg this chat is moving fast! Just caught your comment Dorens - thanks! Although why I was so surly I'll never know ;)
why is that good information, red?
join the club, peri
cute can be surly, nb... not mutually exclusive
the end of the month thing peri, next time I buy a car I can plan better...
I really have enjoyed my Toyota, not sure about another due to the news
yes, they have to meet a certain quota
en6 en & a small coctail hat is a fas****tor
Hah, I'm sure NB can be cute - but I want no surly cuteness in this house! lol
(Peri to the PB!)
well, only american made toyotas were recalled. Mine was made wholly in Japan and not recalled...
Vi too!
LOL Vic. In the years since that photo was taken, I've perked up a bit ;)
he might not even be cute anymore, vic. I found the haircut most appealing, and he feels the need to critcize it
Peri, its ok in the PB there is champange, sparkling water and strawberries. to celebrate my job. And left over from when a few of us had a discussion on sa** in cooking.
what did I say?
oh, you think you look surly in the photo??? no, not at all.. just quietly suspicious (imho)
what job, red?
Ah yes, Doren. The hair. We know NB is very particular about his hair. =)
go back and read your words peri
ooh, I missed the news, red! new job? did you get the infection control one?
the q word Peri, and Vi the s word
I have a job offer that is remarkably much better than the one I am in now, financially. I am still sort of surprised.
i cut my boys hair in the same style... beatles (circa rubber soul) my ideal hair cut
oh nice news red
LOL Dorens! Well come on...it was a bowl cut!!
lol, true, Lynxxx. But Doren did it first!
Unfortunately Fuquay, I have not even been asked to interview for that, but the extra cash from this Emergency one will sweeten how I feel.
Very nice news Red - Congrats
Congrats, redturtle!
bummer, red, but very good news on the $
it is nice. I just hope there is not some odd surprise out there.

I am very happy, but feeling a little dizzy about the whole offer, it seems too good to be true!!
And, most exciting today, I noted that my avacado pit, which I threw in a planter and forgot about seems to have sprouted....!!!!!
understandable. you must be thinking, what's the catch

yay nan, yay guernsey and I'm off...s ee you tomorrow
I love my 60s, they are for me, unlike my 40s & 50s which were for everyone else
ty red, bye dorens
bye dorens
i'm hoping for the same, lynxx. 40's were awful for me
heavens yes -- forgot that I had 2 teenagers at home in my 40's!
can't really complain though -- life has been awfully good for me
I'm not complaining either, just reveling in my 60s and retirement
anyone want clues before I leave?
yes -- isn't retirement wonderful?
retirement i want that.
it's GOOD, red
could I get a clue for the O that is not greasy from the upper right hand corner?
Not for me thanks, getting there slowly
i had to retire through ill health at 42. i wouldn't recommend that, but things got better eventually, and now i revel in it.
what you put the oi 3 in
Oooh how twisty, thank you much CyberNan
yw
i have a lot of anxiety about retirement. It seems I shall never have enough money.
ah -- but how much is enough -- to do what?
everyone told me - and they were right - that you don't spend as much when you retire.
http://www.choosetosave.com/
start putting 10% of every paycheck in an rrsp, red
to live regularly, take a few trips here and there. not much. its jsut very hard to predict what shall happen.
jmc, hi and I am now bookmarking that.
i would sort like nbt before i fall go home to fall asleep
I do that and I have some stocks that I may sell at retirement, but things change...
if you have a good financial advisor -- he should be managing your portfolio to generate more income right now!
*he or she
actually most brokerage houses have similar calculators and i was surprised to realize that I am in fairly good shop inspite of all my efforts to bankrupt myself
you should also look at annuities red especially since your folks seem pretty long-lived
I was putting 15% of my wages in Superannuation for nearly 20 years, lost 33% of it with the GFC, but what the heck - as Guernesgirl said, you do not spend nearly as much when you are retired
help with the A over the u plesae
I'm reallly lucky in that that is what my husband did for a living -- managed large trust and pension plan portfolios.
the people who didn't panic and sell everything in the depth of the financial crunch will eventually come back
Room in the roof jmc

somedays i think i should just give up this game
to7 please anyone
oh but you cant jmc
at 5: top of the house
*bangs head against wall*
hard to clue, but give me time, mom
*throws blanket over head to hide shame*
to 7: sounds of the letters -- change the ph
retirement is hard - I think this is a harder puzzle - do what I do - start from the bottom when ready to give up
to+**ver say die + facial spasm
I need a financial manager, but I am very leary of them. Luckily I do have stocks and such, and you are right JMC, my people are long lived. My Grandmother is still kicking at 93...
yes - you go girl!!!
read my sisters financial planning column as a start red
i have a lovely female financial adviser and so far she has delivered the best income i could hope for
I'm married to mine
Ahhh, is that in the book mark, i just looked at it...
http://tinyurl.com/2b3rhhj
my financial advisers have sucked - capitalize that - need to find better people to work with - hard in the 401k word - no choice
wouldn't trust any of my relatives
lucky you nan
she writes for AARP on line after several years of writing the column for the Washington Post
My Mother and Dad have a great advisor, of course they did take a hit witht he downturn, but they have still remained retired for ages before the 65 year.
yes, mom -- but don't know what I'd do if I ever lost him.
momneeds, you always have a choice in financial advisors, you can go to ameriprise etc...
the thing about the downturn is that for most it is temporary and you just hold on for the ride
I have a 403 B but I also put money in a variety of other places. No need to rely on one place.
and so you shouldn't red
no so for me as it turned out to be the year i had to liquidate to pay for boy's college
diversification is the best safeguard
my folks retired in their late 50's - made money off of sale of home - put money in cd's only - wouldnt consider annuities/stocks/etc - mom still living at 82 and has enough to keep her going - sometimes I think there is something to be said for being conservative
there are independent financial advisers too, who are not selling any product but you pay them a fee
conservative yes, but diversity is not a bad thing at all.
but at age 82 your portfolio should lean heavily towards guaranteed bonds
Most do not require a fee jmc. My parents advisor is independent and they never pay him a fee.
my daddy bought Exxon stock when he worked for them as a machinist and my mother lived very happily on that and her retirement payments
My Mom explained a long time ago how he makes his money, but I forgot...
independent is not quite the same thing red
no it is not a bad thing - I am kind of in the middle with my investments - took a big hit last year but if you are not cashing in - you havent lost anything yet
A good mutual fund that has shown good performance over the last 20 years is always a safe bet
I have cloroxx stock, its a proven winner. they bought penny shares back in the 30's. Now its worth 64.00 a share.
you you don't pay them a fee they are selling something because they have to earn money some how
I just wish that I had bought google when it first went public
I am sure he probably represents some Fibelity, as my Mom usually tries to invest with them a bit.
The Advisor is probably paid a % from the companies he directs your parents too - part of their management fee
No kidding cyber, or Apple, when it wasnt so expensive.
wtg red that is like mother's exxon which was $5 in the 60s and now is at a low of $67
me too nan
I think I will switch it from giving me dividends, to the reinvestment scheme, where they reinvest my dividends into more stock without me having to pay a fee...
i am not saying that is bad -- I have followed my adviser from brokerage house to brokerage house -- but I have no illusion about how he makes his money
that is a good plan red
Everyone has to get paid somehow!
another good basic thing to do is to invest in indexed funds
what are indexed funds - havent heard that term
the most important thing is to trust but verify!
You are probably still realizing more from your investments than you would having the money sitting in a savings account
oh for certian he makes money off my parents some how, I just can not remember how she explained it, he luckily is very very scrupulous. Called my parents immediately after all the financial collapse went down and shifted things around really fast so they (and he) woud lose less..)
On my way -- unless anyone wants clues?
My savings account is stuffed at present and earing a terrible interest rate. It does make me feel secure though having it liquid.....
Vanguard has nothing but indexed funds
thanks Nan - have a good night
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Index_fun d
thanks for the financial advice Nan, I learn alot each time I talk finances!
wish I could say mine was stuffed
Giving up with 90 to go...look forward to the next grid ;-)
I hesitate to ask but the i in the second to last column please?
oh gadget....good job!
wtg gadget!
bye everyone --- enjoyed the chat .
we bought some property 2 years ago and drained everything we had including a 401K - owed government oodles - now still trying to recoup - but do own a beautiful piece of property
in 8 x2:
oh red you could do better with almost any mutual fund and still be relatively liquid!
in 8/60: not very mobile
there are only 2 I's - both 8's
I opened a savings account for my granddaughter the first of Jan. At the end of the quarter she earned 4 cents interest on $400. Can you believe that?
in 8/55: one who blows things up
ack no wonder i am not seeing them!
Hidilly ho, neighbors.
yes sea spray, I can.
I can seaspray - from my own kids accounts
hi judi
Those I's - and under and over achiever
do you not have registered education savings plans down there, seaspray?
Jmc, I may ask which mutual fund you reccommend. My other optin in June a CD comes due and I may chunk a bunch more in, but that rate was still bad.
H judi
That's just criminal, SeaSpray. Might as well keep the cash in a shoe box.
We do Cyber nan, in NC and Florida at least?
currently because i am lazy i am using ing's mutual fund *I am not a financial adviser. I just play on on t.v.*
I know Judi, but this way I know where it is and no one can touch it but me
i need the dummy clue for the in8!
you could probably open a trust account and invest the funds -- you can set up the account so that only you have control until she reaches whatever age you name.
but if your financial adviser is with Fidelity they have fine funds
which one jmc?
In8: one who blows up balloons.
first IN - lazy - second IN is to blow up a baloon
*hangs head in shame* I don't care I just want nbt tile and to go to bed
ty judy!!!!!!

i am pooped!!!

of course there is this 300 page transcript i need to read. .. .
Ok you can go jmc - sweet dreams
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
think of blowing up bike tires that sort on in...
Am I dumb? I can't get the IN8 - "one who blows things up?"
forget.....look into my eyes......forget......
jmc you will be exhausted!
gadget think of the guy who blows up the balloons at the circus
Gadget - you in***** a balloon, now make that the person or thingt that does that
or the guy who causes the prices of things to go up! not recession but in****ion
Yes. I am dumb. I was thinking of explosions. THANK YOU!
thats a great clue
woo hoo got both 8's now
good c.ue jmc.
ok i am heading home *poof*
bye jmc
night jmc

Jellen, how is your new business coming along
at 5/14 a + T*** Orlando
Hi, peri...moving along slowly...
Thanks a bunch, Jellen.
ok, just checking
hey peri! *procrastinating again*
22 left in this nasty grid
We're having to do a lot more to the building than I had planned...
I am back to hopefully finish - got 20 left - feeling this is impossible
hi ther Owl. I have boxes and files and containers and still have papers everywhere
have you bought a car? my friend was raving about her elantra
Hi, Mom
not yet, Owl, was thinking about the Accent, it is less epxensive thant the Elantra. did your friend buy it new?
yes, and she had not had a new car in ages.
Owl, do you have AAA?
mcuh difference in cost?
no
which is very very bad
at least1,000
peri: i knwo the elantra is a safe car. you can talk that thousand away. If it's your last car, you should not skimpif possible
I have AAA and went to their website to check on car prices. they check and get the best price. well their price was more than $1,000less than a price quoted by a dealer. I called AAA and was told that that price did not include any dealer fees. which could be anywhere from $50 to $1,000, so not much cheaper. I was disappointed
Not ti interrupt Peri, but I am on my 4th Hyundai product... 2 elantras, 1 sonata, and a santa fe. Love them all.
can you do the broker?
anyone drive an Accent. It may be my last car, Owl. but you never know. not sure about a broker. is there one near me?
I teest drove an Elantra and an Accent and liked the Accent a little more
orthrough credit union like trumark? or costco?
48 to go. I hate this grid so much that I want to finish it. ar6 anyone
I have no experience with hyundai but absolutely love my subaru. Have had toyotas and hondas in the past too - both were awesome. Only got subaru because it was more affordable.
broker = nazar, no financing, he is loaded with toyotas right now
don't belong to a credit union
well if the accent is wha you like, then if it is rated safe you should get that
I have a Subaru Forester and love it. But my next car will be from a dealer near my current office--Jeep or Ford.
peri: trumark credit union is open to all. I joined them
I hate t his grid too but determined to finish
ar + *** orbison + take the vowel out of what you catch fish with
end of the month is the best time to buy, so I am told, since they have to sell a certain amt of cars each month
they were former bell tell credit union
Odd word! TY, Luv.
I have a Forester too - it is the only car that has EVER made it up my driveway. Exercise is great but walking this sucker every storm is a bear.....
yes but sales are picking up - it's spring
brb, will look into credit union

ok, back again, I am drifting in and out....
Is en7 related to en6?
my little subaru has made my driveway and my husband has to park at the bottom with his 4wd truck - haha
Hi Red. I was thinking about your job offer earlier and am so happy for you.
Yes, I feel pretty good, still too good to be true, the pay part.
I dont have 7 but I dont think so
I have 117K miles in 4 yrs. Want to pass 200K.
hi everyone!
not related. the en 7 is en plus to hold closely, or the "catch" on a necklace.
{{Red}}, tell me about your job, please
Hi Mom of Kentucky!
Hi, Mom!
Hey Mom
Hi Jellen of OK!
it is the same job different hospital with an oddly higher pay rate, by several dollars an hour...difficult to calculate, but much much better.
Hi Scrabbler, Jellen and Mom
hello jellen!
Hi, Scrabbler!
congratulations Red, wonderful news
got it - thanks red
close by where you live?
2 miles away!
wow, that is great
you could even walk if you took the notion
Hi
en7 = en + cl5
Peri,
I could, but unlikely, given the times of day and the super big hills involved.
Hi tivel
Hi, tivel
when do you start your new job?
Hi Tivel
hello tivel!
hi tivel
May 25.
hope it is everything you want it to be
I am a bit nervous about it.
We bought a Sonata last year when they were giving $3000. back. The car drives well. My complaint was it took a long time to get the $3000 at $500/month!
F's finished. soon I shal get the listy list.
Change is always tough, esp if you don't have details.
and probably more so as the time gets near but you will be fine
because I dont want to burn bridges, and things can always get both better or worse...
you have given notice, I take it?
Congratulations Red on your new job. I hope you are happy there as well as better paid.
Hi Bugsaw
well the better paid is for certain. I can bank a lot more retirement money! thanks Bugs!

hiya nef...I'm down to 55, so we're close ;)
how is everyone tonight?
Hi there, Nef.
wishing the week was over already (the work part, that is)
ditto, pini
Heh. I only work 2 days this week (Tues. and Wed.) but they're both 12 hour days for me
yikes, nef!
bak. hi, nef
hi dc
that was quick, dc
well, i did say BBS, not BBL ;)
true
still debating if i want some ice cream.
did you rush off and eat fest or something, dc?
I'm debating on if I want to make something for dinner or just nuke something
nope. changed laundry around and unpacked the new charger for the new phone
i made fiori in a spicy tomato-onion sauce for dinner.
sounds nice, dc
I made some soup in less than 20 minutes, Pini. Of course, I used a bunch of left-overs; so the real prep time was probably longer
what's fiori?
literally flowers - a shape of pasta
yeah, what welki said!
ahhh, i know that 'fiori' means flowers, had no idea about the pasta shape .. thanks!
i also fixed a plumbing issue under the kitchen sink while cooking. There was water dripping from somewhere. That cabinet had a layer - the trap was loose. Emptied and cleaned the cabinet and tightened the connections. fun.
these wer from Barilla
the pasta that is
we get barilla up here .. but not fiori. wagon wheels are as exotic as it gets
i found different stores have different selections. Here, Wegmans and Harris Teeter have most of the line between them.
that said, i've not looked for fiori, so maybe they are available in some of the italian specialty shops
i covet your wegmans
i like their gemelli shape too
(which sounds a little dirty, but i still do *lol*)
we have gemelli here (hallelujah, i do not live in a barren tundra!)
i was thrilled when i heard wegmans was entering the market here. :) If you're ever near one, you must stop in.
it amazes me how happy the rabbit is with a piece of paper or cardboard
May I please have a clue for li5-10? Thanks

I get my "move" itch out of my system just by rearranging the furniture nowadays
hye stid ;)
it wouldn't be so bad but we moved after only a year because the house was so bad! We haven't been in one place long enough to get rid of duplicates!

Thanks, Pini! And that's fireworks!

Hi, BR
V is for FIREWRODS!!!!!
Hello, friends.
goodo stid!
congrats, stid
Yay, stid!!!
that is SUCH as sad poem, BR... *wonders if it would appeal to 8th graders*
wtg stid ;)
not likely stid - why so sad BR?
Loneliness can be a killer
yes, it can BR. But so many of the 8th graders I work with are pretty dismal in their speech patterns.
so pini -- this life of a slacker isn't so terribly horrible, is it? rofl
i guess so. But you can also use it. I was alone for almost 15 yrs and just considered it a chance to do and be what I wanted to do or be.
* blink * slacker? where? you or me?
Last week my teacher told me that I must have made a terrible admin assistant because I can't keep my opinions to myself... I wonder if that bodes well or ill for me as a teacher?
me slacker! I finished the grid, which implies that I did NOT spend my whole day on schoolwork! LOL
ROFL! nice one stid! :)
well, it's about time you took a break!
yep. and the behinder I get, the less I worry about it... I seem to be able to play catch-up (ketchup?) where it counts *wicked mama grin*
that is GOOD stid! You must not let it take over your life!
oh, yes, you are wicked...no doubts!
aren't we all....
anyway(s)... I should head out and get packed for tomorrow. I have an appointment of sorts with one of the faculty members, to discuss one of this quarter's projects.
congrats, stid...enjoy!
Bye, stid...
