I can't find a word from the middle column N :(
oo5: "chill, dismal, gloomy, sad, strange, strange and disquieting, uncanny"
i think it is a different spelling of something irish, douglas
No Google results for "define:oo5"
i have na5/14 for that one, jilli
Doug: leave out "define" and look at a few results
jillibus, it's na5/14 and means, uh, dressed well and lookin' sharp
ty ty ty sam -- nbt!
Thanks grem. No one used oo5 when I was in Scotland in 2006
I think I need to go off to bed now. I just realized that I'm exhausted--it snuck up on me. Night night.
night sam and ty again
Good morning! I've never been on this early before, but my son is arriving in Geneva this AM and I'm all excited!!!

thank you for talking to me
I'm getting a complex
No problem.
hello
One time I thought I was getting a complex, but it wasn't that simple.
=P
lol I can always count on you to make me laugh
hi herin
how are you all>?
happy to be here
gremlin- did you see my entry earlier thanking you for listing yesterday's grid???-- for some reason lickety will not load for me-- it happens ocnce in a while and lasts for 2 or three days then clears up.. at any rate.. thanks
You're welcome.
We are well if you are well, herin
Well enough to enjoy a day off
It's quiet... ...too quiet
Time for a bit of anime before bed, thanx for all the help today <3 Nighty nights
Good to meet all of you
good night small
morning all
hello ray of sunshine
hi sprite and west and doug
I'm back from doing the dishes
hi jilli !!
lol hey west, and hi jilli
maid's night off?
haha west
personnel these days... expecting nights of at least once a week... tsk.
isn't that the truth?
interesting writeup, jilli!
these themes make us live and learn, eh sprite?
so good jilli I have some I can test
learn for certain! I hope you don't mind I don't always have good writeups - must pace myself, however frustrating I am finding that.
from 'The Ladies'
Oops -- I see I have to edit out the curly quotes etc.
yeah these are pesky
Oh yes, west! Let us know!
you can hardly see them in the original text, but once in babble... magically they appear!
hello jilli, finally reaching nbt after a bit of suffering with the southeast a
yours are real, west. I just know.
sprite when we bought this house it was chock full of furniture and jewelry and clothing and you name it I still have tons to sort out but I'm getting there
wow a load of work but fascinating... and perhaps rewarding ;)
it's like the ladies were still here..they were both in their nineties when they died and lived here from 1950 on
they were both school teachers
hello everyone
hi flosey
hello flosey
hi flosey!
really interesting, west. Must have been like you could read their lives from their stuff.
did Grem post clues? I was able to download lickety yesterday, but not today
Sprite how is your pup today?
true sprite and lots of pictures and books too
Lickety is up, flosey, so I don't think grem did post his.
lady: he is ok! No more vomiting and he did a poo twice yesterday. So everything is back to normal, pfffffew I am relieved.
ah, darn, I can't figure this out, had lickety up yesterday but not able to get it today
That is good. Hi OSGMA
Now the writeup should read more smoothly.
oh no was Terra sick?
flosey, not even if you go out and back in?
perfect jilli
yes, he kept throwing up and was a very pathetic little bunch of nothing for a while.
perfect jilli
poor little thing
aw, poor Terra. Glad he's better now. Any idea why he got sick?
it comes up as a second file jilli, not attached to this! strange, but not really familiar with this computer
are you on a Mac flosey?
no west, pc
then I can't help
thanks anyway west
he probably ate something he shouldn't have. He is bad that way and we aren't always fast enough to grab things from his mouth. He ate grass and I think that set him off, so he could lose the bad stuff.
do you have the babble browser on that computer, flosey?
they seem to know what will help
was is sam who had the same problem today and said it lasts for about 3 days?
not familiar with that sprite
yeah they do. I wish they were also smart enough to not eat stuff that makes them ill, lol.
dogs seem to eat grass when they're not feeling well.
ok flosey
flosey, sprite means Expert.
oh, had it yesterday but it won't come up today
Expert won't come up?
hello everybody
hi rubyfoo
hello ruby
hello ruby thanks for sending John's songs
hi again ruby -- son arrived yet?
husband is on the way to Geneva airport to drop off one guest and pick up my son and his wife. Yay!
Hi Ruby
no jilli, and seems odd that it did come up yesterday
And the rain has finally stopped
oh how lovely!
great !! you can tell him in person what a talented guy he is
no it didn't, rubyfoo. You sent it to the netherlands.
The garden looks wonderful and husband's friend helped me plant my vegetable garden
thank you westofrd and Sprite is an official fan!!!
very strange, flosey. If you just use the original Babble, can't you get Lickety from below?
don't forget to ask him how I can order his CD, rubyfoo
It rained every day our guest was here!
I haven't even ordered any yet but he will show me how. You are so nice, Sprite!
nothing to do with nice, lol. I like his songs very much.
I have been walking around smiling for three days -- maybe it will make the frown wrinkles go away LOL
darn, of course, jilli - it's been so long since we used that method, have it now - THANKS
nothing like a big smile to make you look years younger, right?
Phew, flosey!
it might take more than a smile....
how long since you last saw them ruby?
Ruby I need you to fix my garden. It is looking like a forest
lol jilli, now to remember how to bulk add
1 1/2 years
I'm only good at the design part, not so hot at digging
just go down to the bottom and it's explained.
oh such a long time...I hope you recognize him lol
I'll bet your garden is beautiful, herin, with interesting and exotic plants that I wouldn't even recognize
thanks again jilli, will do that now
he's lost 20 lbs!
just be sure to introduce yourself
Ruby no it is a mess. It has roses at the front big out of control lemon tree and a Lantana
nice but he'll probably gain it all back with that delicious French food
roses are such a pleasure, basically no work
what is your climate, herin, is it very hot in the summer?
they'll only be here 6 days and then they're going to Italy by train. John has the trip organized minute-by-minute
is this grid unfriendly or am I not all clear in the head today?
ruby, a friend gave me an offshoot of a Little Darling rose -- I've never had one before. I hope it will get enough sun where it lives now.
Unfriendly imho, sprite.
I'm not going to the airport so that I can get the guest room and bath ready.
it's being obstinate sprite
thanks
what color is it, jilli?
Wanting at least one word to end in "tane"
Little Darling is a sort of light coral colour
I want fascinate to be a word
me too, doug.
oh jilli that sounds gorgeous
I keep dragging that H in the right place for that
almost like a tea rose
You can google pictures :)
that's the color of the house and the garden has floers in all shades of coral, pink, salmon, red, purple and blue, with a little bit of white for punctuation.
Ruby it can be hot in Summer. The issue has been it has been warm cold wet warm so the lantana has run amoke
I think they grew lantana in Florida, but I think the winter is too cold for that here. They are two-tone, right?
they are a weed and have 'berries'' on them
Little Darling in French? may be Petite Cherie lol
b.f is being mean and wont let me torch it.
this is my first garden and gives me huge pleasure
mon petit choux ;)
hahah
without the x, I think
yay the hawaiian goose. So glad we didn't do all those babblets for nothing, jilli!
Lantana does have the benefit that deer won't eat them
nene
I think so too, sprite.
also the volcano
whoops, too excite! is there coffee in the PB yet?
ty ruby lol
yes! God I love babblets. Thanks jilli.
I just made a pot
lol rubyfoo
Douglas it is a noxious weed here. Maybe I should borrow a gaot
goat even
I knew the goose from crossword puzzles, and it's the Hawaiian state bird!
too funny, I would love to have a goat but it would eat all the flowers (and everything else)
we used to have a very nice hawaiian babbler here, she told us a lot of great things about hawaii.
we have no deer here, the French ate them all!
I need one to get rid of this plant
the plant may eat the deer
Franmag is on Facebook, but I miss her here. She always followed the themes and found a Hawaiian twist every time.
I miss her here too
Sprite my plant would eat things it is big enough
maybe you can talk to her on FB and ask her to come back
do you speak to her on Facebook Jilli?
I don't use FB but it is an idea
she sounds like a very interesting person
do snakes hide in it?
she doesn't really have time to babble anymore :(
No, flosey -- I don't see heroften and she just seems to play games.
snakes aaaaaah
she is, west, but also very very sweet
hi ata
Ata!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! *hugs* to you, silly girl, what did you do, hurt yourself and have a bad trip!
I'd love a Hawaiian connection for the winters here
ATA I hear that the cast has been binned?
ata!!! how is your leg? I miss you!
ata, how is your leg?(i'm not lurking)
I still had a lovely holiday :) but tore the medial ligament in my right knee. My leg now looks like it has some impressive bondage device on it!!
are too, nik lol
lol nikki, busted, you lurker. And hi.
ouch ata
woot. Now only for someone to share the fun on bondage with, lol.
how long will you be in the 'device' ?
ata: my son's CD came out: reverbnation.com/jrmushroom
you can get an aural glimpse!
ooo fab!
4 or 5 weeks I think
whoops accidently on Nikkies page again its me sandy
and who will walk Hobbit???
Ata have you seen the video of the cat that talks?
ok hi sandy ;) Oh need to email you!
hahah sandy
Husband is going to walk her before he goes to work in the mornings *sigh* I miss walking her!!
maybe you could hitch a little wagon to Hobbit and he could take you for rides!
her* sorry
that's an idea lol
now i have to start again!
lol yes :) I can actually walk her - slowly - but I cant drive to take her anywhere interesting
hi sandy
lol hi sandy officially!
it is really lousy for you, Ata. I hope it will heal up as quickly as possible, so you can go out again.
email me sprite - am interested
and no peeking, sandy!
Just staring, come on brains, be more smarter!
ATa:http://tinyurl.com/yc8dyxh I saw this and thought of you
Ata, you can only get better from here!
husband had xray yesterday and now is having a cat scan- something on his lung and he has never smoked or been sick
cuuuuute herin!
He has done a few videos
oh no, scary!
oh no sandy! hope he's ok
it is but I feel all will be well and everyone knows not to panic until the diagnosis is in!
this is what I've got: http://www.romkneebrace.com/
Hugs Sandy
oh sandy, that is scary
so sorry sandy you're right not to panic
{{big hugs}}
Ata I got stuck with the full solid one
remember, positive thinking!!
After all, Nik's shoulder is staying in and that's a good sign
ick ick!
It was all foamy and just blerk
ata that really looks 'sexy'
two birds, so far
ata, photograph your leg and put it on your icon
a very good sign
I'm not going to scare you all like that!!
lady, that vid is a hoot!
Sprite the man has made many
herin except for the 'voice' it looks like Pandora
Yes Jasper is the kitty. I think if you put the two side by side they would be Ebby and Snooch
just had a look ata, very impressive!
ata is that a compass on the side?
I am watching Giorgio Locatelli chef and he is just well ....
it's a thingy to limit movement, so I stops me bending my knee more than 30 degrees - not that I can actually move it 30 degrees anyway!!
Ata, for all the discomfort and everything, at least you got an impressive device!
are you in pain?
RUby you still here?
yes, trying to get as many words as I can before I start cleaning!
DH will be back, hopefully, before noon
I wanted to thank you for the other day. When you were looking for French recipe description I came across a wonderful French cookery site
what is the site?
email sent, sandy
im interested too, herin
no, no pain really. discomfort and annoyance and pain if I walk around too much!
http://www.aufeminin.com/cuisine/recet tes-de-cuisine.asp
http://tinyurl.com/55tol4 here sorry
Good morning/evening all and welcome home Ata!!!
hello FM
Got my attention with this set: http://tinyurl.com/2eqr8v4
hey FM!
hello FM!!!
Google should translate it into the language you can read
FM!!!!!!
Hey westie and spritey sprite and ruby and all
(((Ata))) how was the journey home?
lovely to see you!
very VERY long!!
You must be v excited ruby, isn't it today that yr son is coming?
yes, husband is on his way to the airport now with the guest who is leaving, hotel Hunter!
thanks herin I'll have my mother tell me what it says
I have to clean the bathroom and guestroom!
yay -- just over halfway :)
West Google should just translate it for you
but I'd rather be in here with my friends, drinking coffee etc
it might be fun to figure it out but thanks herin
Happy for you ruby
yay! lucky ruby!!
ty FM and he's bringing me his disc! Mothers' Day present lol
You should have got him to bring a load of his CDs with him so you could act as his European sales hub :)
West my google does it automatically
exactly, FM. I have been hinting at that too :)
We haven't figured out how to do that yet. He has a distributor in the US, but we haven't tried it yet
cool site, lady, thanks. Tasty stuff.
I read the cake that had 10 eegs 300g choc 300 gram cream and I kind of fell in love
I just hope everybody becomes a fan (like Sprite!) so that he feels encouraged.
jilli, toea is a phantom. Isn't that mean!
OMG, that cake sounds like heaven
lol herin
I can't eat it but still.
I keep trying to put in nanny since we were talking about goats before
one can dream :)
The last two words I got started with rot, which I'm deciding to take as a sign to declare moral victory and bid you all a good breathdaylife.
bye, douglas, see you later
you should try it with a different spelling on the ending, rubyfoo
- 10 egg yolks - 330 g sugar - 330 g dark chocolate 72% - 350 g butter - 120 g sweetened cocoa powder - 330 g cream I would call that a weapon of arse expansion
Nighty night Doug
bye douglas
Oh but what a way to go herin!
good night doug, take care
apart from the cream, my arse wouldn't mind expanding for it
I have very limited French skills. I learnt from listening to the French version of Les Miserable
what arse? mine disappeared in the last 5 years!
lol exactly Sprite
SPrite I know heavenly. I am going to try and make a red wine cake that is all there soon
night doug
cool!
Night Doug
and yes, sprite, I saw (didn't see) toea too.
red wine cake!
I spent $11 on Lindt chocolate the other day for cooking as all the other chocolate had veggie fat in it
jilli, I always hate it when I spot a word, am proud because I spotted it and then... it's a phantom ;)
and tyee
Ruby if you scan through the 60 odd pics there is a cake there for it
mmm Lindt chocolate
I'll have to do that later, when I'm hanging by my finger nails the half hour before noon.....
darn yes, tyee too... neither.
Lindt rocks
I'm going to go to bed now -- stayed up too late last night
sweet dreams, jilli!
sleep well then, jilli, and dream even better.
good night jilli sleep well
sprite is the pup better today?
NIght OSGMA
and *poof*
FM: oh yes! No more vomiting and he pooped twice yesterday, so all is well. Also back to lively and naughty and jumpy, so very relieved.
I refused to buy chocolate with no coco and veggie fat if I am on a cooking binge. I should have gone to the Lindt store and bought a giant block for that price
it's so awful when they get sick
West: http://www.lindt.com/au/
Oh good sprite, he is such a sweetie.
Sprite, have read it and replied....hmmm
makes you feel so powerless :( But I took him on my lap and massaged his belly very gently, and he almost went into trance from it. Shortly after he became more active. And hungry.
Ata you still here?
poor little boy
oh yes there you are :)
I am convinced that massaging them is good
yep!
oh my herin I'll have to send that to our daughter she's in love with Lindt
Want a visit next week?
Ruby gets at least 30 minutes a night
West is she in Aus?
yes please!
no she's in Massachusetts but she'll love the video
her daughter was there last July
lol Okey dokey I'll email you later today.
Grin. She would love it. You walk in and there is this big um thing that is round and has partitions that has every flavour of lindt ball they make
wheeeeeeeee!
*grin*
How have you survived after the 'thong' thing yesterday Mitch?
yay, half! now I'll get to work!
((hugs)) everybody
Good morning/evening all.
bye Ruby
I'll bet they wouldn't even notice ruby
Hi HAz
Haz! La Glitterata!
hi and bye haz!
hello haz
Well I am off to play a game for 30 min have fun now
Hello! Nice to see you back with us, Ata!
Teehee sandy - yes survived to fight another day :) Greetings Haz!!!!
bye herin I'll make you that cake and send it post haste
FM do I dare ask?
yes, I'm back!
hmm my posts are not posting.
Yes, they are, FM.
Ah there we go - must have been a hic up somewhere in the system.
westie - t'was a silly thing that sandy started yesterday re my new cleaner who happens to be male.
ok back, that was a weird glitch. Hi Haz! Bye lady!
and wears a thong???
NO!
he wore a thong during the cleaning
Hello, sprite.
please post a picture
but aparently he does in sandys world.
Mitch is a bit shy about it
is he good? that's all that's important
Well, who wouldn't be?
yes he is.
a bit racey for us, I thought
is he very very gay?
Ata, I lost your email addy when my puter went poof. Could you please send me an email?
wouldn't I love to have someone to clean for me
fairly Ata.
oh west, yes!
but first I'd have to get organized
sure!
no west, someone who would organise for you. You just point where stuff needs to go and he does it, without commenting on the dust or lack of organisation...
great :)
that would be a fairy tale sprite
yeah... but one worth imagining
I need a magic wand
YAy, just had phone call to confirm delivery of new sofa and armchair covers for Thursday. Sorry Ata but no more Hobbit on the sofa as they are now going to be a very pale cream colour.
they sound gorgeous FM
Ata will need to bring a blanket then
looool you'll manage that rule for about 5 mins :P
I have a rug I can throw over the sofa as Hobbit is such a princess.
the rule will last until the moment FM wants to cuddle with Hobbit... 5 mins is a lot!
glad your stuff is arriving at last, FM
it won't work Mitch, we have a cream leather couch and my border collie sleeps on it when i'm not looking and a rug was useless
5 mins - what are you thinking - 30 seconds most!!!!!
loooool 30 secs then :)
I threatened her with the dog pound but she didn't choose to listen
she knew you were just bluffing sandy
loooool
Will never forget the first time I met Hobbit racing up the stairs to my flat and her bum all wiggly and tail waggling - it was such a joyous moment.
they always know we're bluffing
hmmm, I woke up late this morning and only then because she was barking outside the door - I think she was worried because I wasn't up. Smart eh?
something to do with food?
no, she doesn't get fed in the morning
is that to keep her alert?
Hello everyone
hi lyn
she is very clever in a different way to the Jack Russels who are very smart
Hi lynxxx
Hello, lynxxx.
hi lyn
hey lyn :)
Time for breakfast and work. Happy Babbling and TTFN.
hi lyn!
You can all go back to talking, really, it's OK

Me!
I do!
me
but I don't fit into it anymore... my daughter looks beautiful in it.
but mainly mini skirts
Ata! surely you were too young
and we wore them in the winter fools that we were
yes ... but I have one now :)
LOL they were sooo short, I tried one on recently it was tight and too short for a top even
I remember buying my husband and our best friend ca****s one Xmas. Thank god they only wore them at home.
did they look like sheiks?
fireflies for me! Thanks for the great company, I enjoyed playing so much. Can I help with anything before I go?
Yay sprite !! I would just like the stats for the 8's please
no sheiks in those colors!
Congrats Sprite!!
were they psychedelic?
an8/40 (combo with 7/28) ey8/55 (compound)
thanks sprite !!
red & back/teal & black. Mine was transparent cheesecloth but I made a skin colored shift thing for nunderneath - can't believe I used to wear it to work - in a Bank! Boy have times changed
it sounds really nice lyn
ok then I go poof! Bye all, have a great day / a lovely night.
Have a good day Sprite, byee
bye sprite happy Terra is good again
still there
Just heard about the husband and the ct scan - he doesnt have an embolism which is what they are worried about and he is going straight to the doctor with the report
that is good news sandy
That is extremely good news!
yay!
morning all..
hi rolin
for the moment , but what is it? we shall see. At least he won't have to worry overnight - good doctor to see him straight away -
hi Rolin
Hi Rolin, how are you?
Hello, rolin.
hi rolin :D
im ok sandy.... just dont know whether i need to be at work or not..ive messed up my diary..*sigh*
sweet potato kitkats?!!!
sweet potato kitkats?!!!
there are sweet potato kitkats! in Japan
*screwing up nose*
chocolate would go nicely with sw potato
gimme a break...( singing kitkat jingle)
It's 'wine o'clock' here and we are living in hope that it may rain tonight - but we have no sweet potato kitkats LOL
sweet potato french fries are yummy
I have been making roasted sweet potato fat chips sprinkled with paprika - really nice
ah but you have timtams
sweet potato chips are loooovely
that sounds yummy lynxx..
How funny! but I do like the sound of the chips, I might make some
I wonder why this game makes me hungry??
and I was assured that sweet potato is MUCH better for you than ord potato so go for it
yes full of anti oxidants and stuff lol
oh yes, it is
I love the modern sweet potato, I cut it up into little squares and roast them and put them into the salad
that sounds really good sandy...we love them just plain baked
with roasted cashews, baby spinach, feta cheese, artichokes, avacado, cucumber, baby tomatoes, etc
I love salads
stop !!! I want some right now
that sounds gooorgeous sandy
so yummy
nice Sandy. I have some so just might do that tomorrow - or a variation anyway
I have all the ingredients to make sweet potato muffins I might have to make them tomorrow
Sometimes the cashews get left out, I always burn them in the oven
I can't roast nuts worth a damn
I always leave them in too long
me neither, I tell myself "Don't forget them this time!!!" and I always do- black and charred
I originally made my 'chips' to go with some club sandwiches I made for a lunch. Felt very retro to me but my 'younger' guests were really impressed. http://allrecipes.com.au/recipe/5923/a vocado-and-chicken-club-sandwich.aspx
oh my gosh lyn that sounds incredible!!
and I have a nice ripe avocado !!
Looked and tasted very impressive for a 'throw together' too
avocado, halloumi and chicken makes good club sandwiches too
LOVE halloumi
is it a type of cheese?
yes, cypriot goat cheese that is gorgeous cooked
not keen on halloumi, maybe haven't got a good recipe for it
wonder if we could get it here?
very rich & creamy & moreish & salty
love a good feta or goat's cheese
it#s quite hard to get in the US, west. Whole Foods have it, at least in some stores
and my daughter is a manager there so I'll ask her
I love my cauliflower and stilton cheese soup it is incredible
perfect!
I had stilton cheese in London I didn't want to leave
gen e
Jo gets all kinds of weird food for me the latest was flaxseed meal
I first had halloumi in some weird west indian style cheese curry - sounds horrendous, tastes divine. Halloumi, peas, tomatoes, mushrooms, lots of cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, pepper and garam masala
now that sounds gooood
it does..the only Indian food I've ever had is curry I make myself
Ge** Pitney Marigold?
we're so behind the food times in New England
I love good indian food , it is my favourite
but you have lobsters and clams!
we do !! and we're going to Maine in a few days
mmmmmmmmm I love New England food!
At, don't take that spinach balls recipe off your profile, I am always looking for good spinach recipes
you're all welcome any time
lol ok, it's a great recipe!
they tell a story about prisoners rioting because all they were given was lobster
LOL! oh the hardship!!
apparently they were so plentiful they just crawled up on the rocks
how wonderful!
I know !!
we used to go on holiday to a place where the guys would walk through the surf at the beach and pick up crayfish(lobster) then we would get a big drum of water and a campfire and cook them on the beach - it was amazing- it is illegal these days! lol
sounds like so much fun..like a clambake
don't know what that is West, but it was amazing, so much fun
sounds wonderful
dig a big hole in the sand put in some rocks, add clams and lobsters and corn on the cob and sausages and potatoes cover with seaweed and let it all cook
can't do that anymore either
old fuddy duds
That sounds fantastic and similar, what great fun!
We would add potatoes and such to the fire as well.
I loved those days - the boys were walking in the surf one evening and a shark swam between them!!
wow!
brb I need to make some tea :)
um that would be scary
Everything in australia is about being outside - we have such good weather for that lifestyle
I know you're so lucky that way
we have about 3 good days a year lol
unless you like snow
Uh Oh!! Nikki is watching THAT show again!
which one?
men who clean in thongs?
I have seen snow, even been skiing (pathetically) but I have never seen it falling- which I would LOVE
now that is pretty..viewed from inside
she is watching the bold and the beautiful - it is the worst show on Tele
I think that's still on here
I've never seen it
West! and you are from the good old USA
I must admit I have never seen "Neighbours"
my very favorite soap opera was Dark Shadows
Never heard of that one
it was on years and years ago and the main character was a vampire
and there was a Frankenstein monster and ghosts ..it was so spooky
sounds cool, I always wonder when I see you guys from the U
from the US whether you have been on Jerry! LOL
LOL now that show was ridiculous
and he was a mayor and everything
and a lawyer , but I bet he made a squillion
probably did
now there are so many 'reality shows'
maybe I'll start the "Sandy Springer show"- but I have enough faith in our population to know it would fail
there's one called Hoarders and when I catch an episode I think how clean my house is
We LOVE hoarders
you get it too?
see that - depressing isn't it
It makes me think I am a great house wife
We get 'Clean House' too
oh I haven't seen that one
I love those shows and when I get my new house I will take something from all of those
A new house ..how nice
and you won't have to rush to get it done, will you?
LOL West, we are living in our shed at the moment and I am terrified of having a lot of housework to do
I'm sure FMitch will lend you her cleaner
and I will gratefully accept, except...I might keep him in the shed
but I know what you mean ..we're going to spend the summer in our cabin..just 2 bedroom and combo kitchen and living room
I did cheat and have a dishwasher installed last year
We have another house which is up for sale and will build when that is sold
we have a dishwasher in the shed
there you go
They actually market sheds nowadays which are designed just like a house
how is the real estate market in Aus? are things selling?
Perth went through a huge hike a couple of years ago and was the most expensive state in Aus. The market here in West Aus levelled out for a while and is just beginning to move again now
you are in a good position too you don't have to jump at the first bid
Indeed we are. When we sell we will have no debt and plenty of money to build and buy another property as well with no debt
that is so great
we have no mortgage either and it feels so good
it is and I appreciate that so much. I envisage a lot of conflict with the house tho". My ideas are 'Grand Designs" and Bruce's are the backwater cottage! LOL
well, you'll meet in the middle
maybe you can have a guest house
We'll see, hmmmm the 'Guest House ' will be the shed
what do they call them..man caves?
Bruce has built a little shed which is his man cave now. he is actually a little eccentric
a fridge full of beer and a big flat screen tv
Ha! Men are such amazing creatures!
eccentric, how?
and whatever would we do without them?
He loves his little shed, he likes collecting antique farm things, he enjoys his solitude- but above it all he is a kind, patient creature
sounds like Jon
We never never have an argument- My daughter told me the other day that she can never remember us raising our voices- I thought that was fantastic
that is very nice and very unusual
you two sound like a good match
I think we are
and what a nice example for your kids
I think so and the kids are really nice too. (most of the time)
it's hard being young these days
how old are your children?
It is much harder for them than it was for us , that is for sure. House prices are so high, work is hard to get -it is a battle for them
I know
they are 25,28,36,39
How old are yours?
43, 42, 40 and 38..3 girls, 1 boy, the youngest
same as me West
but then there are the granddaughters
23,22, 21...6 and 4
it was like starting over again
none of mine are married so I have no grandies
that's the best fun of all..grands
Sometimes I think that grandchildren would just be more worries- but I would love to spoil them
I want a granddaughter who loves horses, I would buy her a pony and take her to ponyclub
it's hard to explain but if you think you used up all your love on your kids you just have that much more for the grandbabies
a pony !! wow that would be heaven
I can guess that would be true - my mum is so great with my kids, she is such a great support
they are lucky to have her
you too !!
it's after 5 a.m. here so I think I'd better try to get some sleep
is your mum still alive?
I want to stay and talk some more but I'd better go and yes she is..she'll be 94 next Monday
Ok, I have to feed and rug horses now so it's been fun bye for now!
she's great
take care and give them an extra carrot from auntie Westford
bye
Hello to anyone that is still here.
Still here as I am watching an article
FM! Just arrived.
hi, I'm back. Got the house ready and waiting for them to arrive!!!
here!
Hi sally and excited ruby!
Sally. I wrote you a message on facebook yesterday but I think it got erased.
Has your guest gone ruby? And son is imminent?
I have a cat curled up in my arm
Hi herin :)
Here too
Gee Ata I don't think that cat missed you
awe lovely Ata :)
Sorry, ruby, I didn't look at fb yesterday. Will look now.
Hi Back
hi Infernal
husband took guest to airport and John should be with him now. I didn't go with, having too much to do to get the house ready!
no I probably erased it, FB was giving me a hard time
Hello back
my icon is a bit fuzzy but shows a garden visitor.
hello lynxxxx
and babble time too ruby *grin*
a rat?
hi Ruby
Fm what is that?
and a little time to try to calm down in here
tsk - a field mouse, have a pair living at the bottom of the garden.
Oh sweet, FM! Wouldn't last 5 minutes here with 2 cats.
we have a field mouse family living in a bush near the bird feeder; they like sunflower seeds, too
sweet (much sweeter than a rat)
FM it looked like a hoppy mouse
:)
this place would be heaven for your cats, Sally, there birds are really tame, the dogs are friendly, and there is a fishpond full of fish!
We have this um native rats that look like that.
OK I nominate rubys garden for the next babble meet.
right o nuff chat back in a few
lol ruby. Well here (where actually we think they were born) they have about an acre of mice. The birds are pretty alert. No fish in our pond :-)
Seconded FM.
sounds perfect to me! I'll just have to shovel out my studio so that you don't all drown in paper!!
We could book a coach and do Calais, then hit the Loire and then arrive on rubys doorstep :)
We could go Eurostar in style :-)
Shall we make it a surprise, FM? Just turn up?
ooh or even the Orient Express did that for my Mom for mothers day a while back - was brill.
I love the idea!
Not the Orient Express! Very expensive and very posy. But train would be good.
If you hear us knoking and spelling out wierd words ruby - that will be us :)
Standing outside shouting (checks grid hastily), bring out your etui! Where is the sris?
Back in a bit - time for lunch. Yes I know it is only 10.30 but have been up since 4 - no idea why :(
Had hail just now. Hammered down.
this is the first day it isn't raining but it's clouding up
can you imagine, a guest for a week and rain almost all the time?
how big was the hail? Did it wreck the plants?
Looked just like polystyrene beads raining down. Very noisy! Our plants have to be tough here :-)
what did I say about rain? it just started again!
urf. the Tesco's man just arrived. At least I have food now!
How's the leg, Ata?
better in a brace than the cast from hell!
So what's the diagnosis? Still as before?
phantom fanny
yep. Medial ligament. And brace on for 4 to 5 weeks, at most (hopefully)
rofl, that's not very polite in English English ruby
So what are you doing about walking Hobbit?
nor in Australian English!
too funny, in America, it's the nice way to say it!
sorry *blushing*
husband's having to do it
Yes but it means a different part of the body in America
oh
Poor Hobbit!
I never knew that
Don't think I can explain politely :-)
Men don't have one
it's OK, I won't say it again!
I get it, ladies
uhoh cat's back
Let's just say that if you are on the tube, and someone leans a bit close to you, don't say in a loud voice, "get your hand off my fanny" !!
brain?
I hope ata missed my faux pas!
Opps I forgot to pay my phone bill
raofl!!!
now they wont allow me to call oppies
and don't say fanny pack either :P
Refilling coffee mug. brb
Back. Babble is very educational, isn't it!
oh yes!
now ruby has learnt a new meaning for a slang word.
bah
What is or are oppies, herin?
Opps
lol I just managed to bend my leg a bit. It felt so impressive! Then I looked and it must be bent all of 5 degrees LOL
Ata I vote massage rubby ducky on knee
Oh poor Ata!
it still feels impressive though :D
Ata I will facebook you the link
tyty!
my mum's coming down to look after me for a few days
Awww Yah mum.
which I'm wonderfully grateful for. I can manage on my own, but I know I'm going to get utterly bored just sitting around
At least you can still Babble, Ata. Get your priorities right :-)
I think i just played computer games and playstation and babble
absolutely! And I need to actually write my assignment that should have been handed in last week.
and drawing?
that too :D
and I can scan the thing I did while on holiday
oh! I should show you something .... a piccy - hang on a sec
?? which is...
I'll shove it on flickr quickly
sigh I just budget changes for pensions
http://goo.gl/lLOr
there. Holly's map of St Agnes, look at it in large size and you'll see all her adventures!
I thought it was Hobbit's map?
Atta that is adorable
ooops. Hobbit's map :P but it says Holly on there. She's really Holly Hobbit
very funny - and clever!
So were was the pub were mummy went Ata?
it's now stuck up behind the bar in the St Agnes pub :)
the pub is "nice lady with treats <3" LOL
Right
Awww Ata that is cute
What a lovely thoughtful thing to do. Now you'll have to go back and visit it
I will :) We are actually hoping to pop back over the summer when I can actually walk!
I did a "proper" map of the island too, but HObbit's one is cuter!
awww

HI JM
this looks like a mean little grid
I think it is
damn I have to go outside
hb
Bins need doing I will in a min
How does it count words that can be spelled in more than one way?
Like anything beginning with 'toy' in this grid
each word is counted separately so anything that starts with toy that is 4 letters or longer is counted
it sometimes take alt spellings, sometimes not. Both Brit and NA spellings are valid
ia
it has 3 different spellings for schtetel, shtetl and a third one i forget, for example
check out the help section above as really useful unlike some help sections ^
Thanks. Will do.
hi dc
and welcome to the grid tut
morning, jmc
welcome, tut

joys of winter. Hi Judi
For you UK folks - welcome to your new Prime Minister... I guess. That was a twist.
morning jmc
oo I haven't read the paper how did it turn out?
sorry grant haven't got it
Gordon Brown resigned. New PM is a cheeky young lad of 43 named Cameron.
ah cameron that should be interesting
I was just reading a really sweet story about how a dog breeder is in hospital at the moment with burns after trying to rescue her dogs from a fire which is being treated as suspicious. There is a group that have already organised the pups which died to be buried not discarded, her horses to be cared for and the other surviving pups taken from the RSPCA and given to friends to be cared for
K clue?
ka4 and abel ;)
citizen ka**
wow, infer,,, it makes me really dislike people all the more

hi bo and jbp and jen and granny

bye jbp
hey all
hi everyone... :)
HI Rose
that is a sad story herin
hey herin, how are things , hun?
It is sad but the strength of the community is willing to pull together and help. There are things I didn't know.
Rose busy
okay no nbt for me work beckons
bbl
Yes, herin. Horrible to think that someone would have set a fire to a haven for animals. Evil.
ditto here. the 10 hour shifts are killing me....
probably someone who things breeding dogs is evil
It is horrible but they have to take all fires as suspicious at first glance
*poof*
Morning all
I am done. anyone want a clue before I take leave?
Hi Bob.
Rose you should take it easy
hello mr. bob
have to show i have tried, herin
arrr this grid is evil
Rose you do try
Is there really an en6?
yes, grant
en 6 sounds like a city in Calif but change last vowel
got it thanks annie
youre welcome, grant
bye dear babblers
Bye Annie
Hi all
Hi
wow. i have just been informed about some of the most disturbing movies i believe i have ever heard of. *shudders*
what a way to start the day, EvaN. good morning
hi, daily and herin
Eva I like your dres
TY herin. :)
indeed, DC. if ever you want to be utterly disgusted, le me know and i will tell you which movies to pick up.
Eva!! Still wearing that dress I see ;)
thank you for the offer, but i shall pass :)
Is this 'THE'dress or a replica so not to spoil a suprice
Hi Nancy
the photo is the sample i tried on. THE dress will not come in until august. but it is the same dress...
pretty
mornin NB! yes, id actually forgotten i was wearing it instead of the clover. ;) suppose i should find something else to change into!
oh, why ever would you do that? you look gorgeous ;) now what's this about some horrible films? I can do disgusting.
Leo's cute, NB. Nice to finally see your beau.
kitty on head
well, if youre interested in physical horror, look up "Human Centipede." or, if you prefer emotional horror, try "Irreversible."
hey, thanks, Judi :) yes - he'll definitely do ;)
ohhh, I can't do emotional horror. I get freaked out by that too easily! I can do vast amounts of gore, but at the first whiff of a psychological thriller, I'm outta there..
How about Al Gore? We're looking to get rid of him.
OH! for fabulous emotional horror, see Parents - this one: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0098068/
LOL Judi! Now that, I won't do..
thanks for the earlier te 7 clue ... I'll have to go back and check the chat for it. I was called away by my spouse and there was no delaying.
Ok I wish himself would come home kitties need him
ooh, interesting, dc
I went back to check and it was not clued. Does anyone have a clue for the te 7 please? I'm leaving the internet traveling for the day and will work on this offline, but I was stuck for quite awhile on that word.
ewww
would you say Human Centipede is worse than Hostel, Eva? Hostel grossed me out.
it was billed as " a tale of cannibalism in the suburbs of the 1950s" we didn't eat for a couple days after it
just looked it up. looks worse than Hostel. Bleurgh!!
Merk, TE -- think of the ship that hit the iceberg in the early 1900's but change the second letter
nothing graphic in it at all
Good morning , not really here, but happened to be passing through
hello, mom
Hi Moooom
Hi Seain
ty again
Hi Herin
hi, Mom :)
you're welcome Merk, be safe in your travels.
HI Nancy Boy
how goes, NB?
now, I must go, more storms are rolling through. Ugly lightning. **shudders**
{{hugs}} to all of you
See you later or tomorrow.
not too bad at all, Seain :) thanks! and with you?
be well, mom
later Merk
will do Seain, you as well
ive never seen hostel, but i might have to...
I would like to know why my cat likes to sit on my head then fart
it's, er...it's an interesting film. there's a nasty scene with a blowtorch that I wouldn't necessarily wanna see again!
Nancy you seen Punisher?
Egad. Fireworks!
yah Judi
congarts, judi
*cracks knuckles* Time for more coffee!
Anyone need clueage?
hrm. from what ive read, a blowtorch would be.... interesting...
I am right for the moment
*giggle* Herin's a farthead.
Cheers
hah! I must admit, I kind of like these kind of movies. Even Saw!
i loved Saw! the first few were good... i think i just saw the 4th or 5th one, and not so good...lol
I haven't seen past the first few - probably best to leave it that way ;)
Not into those sort of flicks they scar me
scare even
definitely. i would say the first 3 were worthy of viewing. :)
Interesting. What would you say your favourite film is? Fight Club for me ;)
what is the other 8 please. I have An what am I missing
Hiya everone.....a movie discussion......how interesting!!!!
i have a few: Clue, Dead Again, Dogma, High Strung
ey 8/55 herin
thanks
a word that you might give your ey8/55 to find, herin
Ta
what a clever clue, City-thanks!
hi, Movieman! Nice to have an expert around ;)
Hiya everone.....a movie discussion......how interesting!!!!
Never seen ANY of those Eva :P will look into it at some point!
Anyone seen Kick-Ass yet?
yvw, scribe
Hiya, movieman. I was thinking about seeing it, but I was afraid it would be too teenagery.
Then again, I can't wait to see Iron Man II, so go figure.
good luck *finding* high strung -- but if you manage, youl laugh your arse off! clue is from the 80s, dead again is kinda random, but i really liked it, and dogma -- well thats one im surprised you havent seen!
Lickety is not opening for me this morning at work; can someone tell me how many words? Thanks
Next on my agenda is Iron Man II and the Elm Street remake
115 steve
thanks
Dogma was very good. I don't know if you could lump that into the Horror genre though.
I quite like the Toxic Avenger films
115 today, steve
saw Iron Man II this weekend--it's great!
I am sorely tempted by the Elm Street remake, even though I'll tear my hair out if it's as pointless as the omen remake.
tane
oops
Hi all - Iron Man II and Clash of the Titans is playing together at the drivein - if it warms up enough, may take kids this weekend
it looks...interesting...Eva ;)
hi, Mom :)
HEY NB
HI Momns
This is one tough puzzle today
Hi herin
and angel and city and dc and Judi .....
I wanna see Elm Street 'cos I was impressed by Jackie Earle Haley's performance as Rorschach in Watchmen
which one, NB?
Dogma, Eva! I definitely recognize the poster though - seen it before somewhere...
I expected to really enjoy Watchmen...fell asleep halfway through though :S
Uhg. The Watchmen was HORRIBLE. But he was the one bright spot, I'd have to agree.
Dogma is really funny. it also made me think a little bit, but just a little. ;) i generally like watching anything that takes what we "know" about religion and makes us question it.
I finally saw Avatar - what an incredible movie - wish now I had gone to IMAX
Oh, I must be the only one here who enjoyed it then
Oooh Mom, the only thing you gain from watching it in 3D seems to be a headache ;) And a pair of funky glasses, of course....
Gotta jet. See you kids tomorrow!
bye judi
actually i enjoyed Avatar in 3D and at Imax-the big screen really enhanced the experience
we bought the DVD on Friday and I have watched it 3 times already
we didnt go because the lines were just incredible even up to the day it left. I'm sorry but will not go to a movie an hour or more before it starts.
I felt kinda cheated that it had exactly the same plot as Pocohontas...
Clue for the an8 plz
I didnt find it anything like Pocohontas yet havent watched that for awhile. May have to dig it out again - love those Disney movies.
i havent seen avatar, but i heard it was basically Ferngully all over again. :)
NO WAY eva
this details it - found it quite funny ;) all in good fun of course! http://iamhilarious.com/wp-content/upl oads/2010/01/pocahontas-avatar-750x730 .jpg
ohhh, should have shortened that URL.
Some are saying there's a touch of Dances with Wolves about Avatar
its not animated. its got really cool effects
i will say that Avatar's plot was predictable-but the art and artistry were unique
i didnt mean animation. i just meant the story line...
Clue for the an8 plz
then this is for you, NB: http://tinyurl.com/y9p6x76
what did you think movieman - you are our resident expert
that's the one Eva ;) ta!
LOL! true ;)
I can see the analogy with Dances with Wolves - although long, I did like that movie
True, true, true....lol!!!
this was my favorite image: http://tinyurl.com/24kugmz
clue for the an8 plz
Hahahaha!! that's pretty much the plot ;)
wish I could help, Movieman, but I don't have it :) sorry!
never mind, got it
no clue here either - let us know when you get it to help us out
an8= plural insect feelers
thanks movieman
insects have an8, and radios use them to broadcast
yvw mom
ag clues pls
nm
hrm. i did something weird to my neck in my sleep and now its all ouchy... this does NOT bode well for my hair appt today!
hi all
hi all
ag- long long *** + soldiers can get foot *** from their boots being wet all the time
hello everyone
hi
How about a hint for the en6? please.
I'd love to help you, gramma, but I just got here... no idea.
wow, there are not a lot of obvious words today
hello :]
I just found ey8. Common compound word.
Hey i'm new to this and idk how to play
do i just spell wirds
trish, have you ever played Boggle?
yes, you spell words you find in the grid, like you do in the game Boggle
did anyone clue the en6????
you can also read the Help, found by clicking the "Help" button above the chat
science... not that I have seen
i have an en 5 .. only
en6: movie en**** man w/ brendan frasier
sounds like a city in california
Best trick to remember is that the words only use each tile once, and each tile in the word must touch the next, so you can't just make a word from each of the four corners, for example.
got it ty web!
gramma... I still can't figure out that ey clue... maybe I haven't had enough coffee yet
hello all, feeling nervous about today's math class. I am NOT having a good week.
ey 8 = what you see with plus what you chew with
however, only three weeks of class left (I spend 3/4 of next week with the real kids actually teaching...).
oh, duh... thanks science
thanks for the 8
I tried to do singular of that and of course it did not work
stid... good luck today... math is not my strong suit
T Y Science
ag 7 please?
heya fellow babblers!
thanks lindy. It's not actually my weak suit, but this was a team project, and while I know what I I would do, we haven't met and gone over everyone's parts yet. And we "teach" to our classmates in 70 minutes.
hey ruru and beach!
sorry, nope never played
hi stid... so we are now going to have more stidlets?
down to 80 ruru, you want to ask for one of the 35 I have?
*GASP* STIDLETS? ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME????? (no)
at school.. relax
I'm bored at school, I graduate next week!
*running around the room in a panic*
well done Trisha. and then what?
Going to be a skincare proffesinal :]
good. Lots of people need to fix their skin.
Yes :] I want people to feel goregous w/o makeup.
first fe 5 please
help for the i in the second column and the N in the center column please?
is that the fencing "fake out" move?
can i only make words with the letters in each column?
the n is a snappy dresser na 5
no list yet, so not sure that's the first fe
thanks ruru
or from all over the board?
i dont have it
the letters need to touch on a flat side (no diagonals)
got it ty stid
the i is not out of I think
Trisha, columns don't matter but the letters do need to touch in your words. No repeated tiles in a word, either.
or an engine breathing part stid
Thank you Uniquity :]
there is a help icon on this page (upper right) and good tips on angelsong's page http://www.freewebs.com/angelsong/
ingen
oops...
Thank you all very much!
i can make words diagonally.
oh, you're right trisha, I was thinking of something else while trying to type. Will shut up now and get back to work
^_^
hello all
got the engine clue, thanks ruru. now NBT and down to 68, and a paper to start working on. Back tonight when I am in a panic over the teaching tomorrow when my regular mentor is not available... *sigh* I am such a wimp. Not sure why I think I can be a teacher.
Hitay!
stiddy, I made a delicious dinner last night and everyone liked it
hey peri (((hugs))) see you later. *Poof*
Hey Peri!
*mini unpoof* of course everyone liked it, peri! you're a great cook! ((Hugs again))
aww thanks, stid, cu later
So what's up?
Yes 29 you may make words diagonally
rote
i'm doing pretty good :p
oops!
go 6?
riot
?
riot?
go6 past tense of I will get the paper
go + * minus *** (shuttle countdown beginning)
The words go in the box beneath the grid, not the chat box. But yes to your word!
I know, I just felt like sharing :]
a fish! ty web
and peabody!
Mr. Peabody's Way Back Machine!
Mr. Peabody was my dog - the best dog in the world!
i've only got 14 words.lol
acne
Sharing is a no no. You'll have to go to the PB(a fictitious penalty box) I'll be there too, don't worry!
sorry lol didn't mean to put that
in 6 clues pls
one is a valve in your engine
Hi again everyone
dont know about them there valves
in6 comes naturally to one with in6 ability
in + boys name abbrev
How do you see how long a word is supposed to be?
good clue what
you have to get the list from lickety - go down to the yellow box below the grid and click on licketys babble clues
The engine valve is the opposite of output
I try not to do that until I am below 50 left - my own personal challenge - just pulling up list now with 44
like your clue wht-of course you are right!!!
did you find it tut?
wht gives great clues
If I am right, I must have been mistaken. :^)
I found the lickety link
ty Mom.
Tut, look at Lickety's Babble Clues. There's a link at the bottom.
It remains to be seen if I learn to use it.
Oh, and thanks.
Lickety gives you the first two letters of each word, then how many letters, then the point total for the word
you can drag in the words you already found and put them in the list. Scroll down to where it ways bulk add and follow directions. Very easy.
well i've had fun thanks everyone.
god bless :]
na 6??
nm got it
bye trish - see you soon
Thanks mom.
your welcome
mom - do you have the ne 6/24 and 7?????
ne + fence opening
I'm stuck on the ag 6 and 7...any clues?
dont have them dalia
ne7: someone who does ne6

I don't know - haven't found it yet

ag6 + consonant
my monkeys found it

Thanks Momn
ahh.. thank you
my chat response is real slow today
back - ty mom i am blind today. actually, my 18 year old son has upset me
teenagers do that - you OK now science
no i will be maybe when he turns 30 and decides that he loves his mom
i upset him as well
I understand - my 17 year old daughter is my thorn
i think girls are worse
you got that right - hormones battling hormones
but boys hurt Moms heart much harder
yes, they do. he hurts my feelings constantly
ty5???
sorry to hear that science
dont have it ruru
hi ruru
ty 5 - alternative spelling to 10% given at church
hi science
hey boo
clue for ak 5
a + barbie's boyfriend + a vowell
hi boo
ge7?
ty ruru
dont have sorry
ge7 - woman's name - french diminuitive ending
thank you DC
just three t's to go..
the first an7?
I only have the second one
ugh... 3 more to go, first an7, ro7, and te7... i seem to suck a 7 letter words :)
an7/28 = woman's name plus double cons and vowel ending - a dye yellowish in color
te 7 = think the big ship that sunk but change the first vowel
an7-an4/4 above it + 2 of same consonant + a vowel
ta 6????
nm got them!
hah! i had the an8 but not the 7. ty, scribe
thx!
yay done
ro7 for the finale?
congrats science
ro 7 what plants have plus how old one is
doh! tried everything but that! Thx science :)
got to run for now - maybe catch you all later - have a better day science
bye all thanks mom!
dc, can i take your "hah!" comment to indicate that the an8 is related to the 7 clued?
Good day, logophiles
salutations to you as well, brabble
latin pl, hursh
i don't know how to latin plural something that ends with o
okay: different words ---rabbit ears
Hi BR and hurshy
how funny that scribe's clue is equally true of both an7/28!
Hello, Boobear.
name that proper noun! a not-very-popular brand of soda
cx bnlo,k
fanta
ding ding ding!
hello all - fanta very popular here - orange, grape and pineapple and also apple
sorry ursh
How are you doing, hurshy? Have not seen you in awhile.
i'm doing very well mostly. i got wii fit about a month ago and i have been using it every day, kind of a lot! it is the first thing i have ever found in my life that was a physical activity that i could actually enjoy and thus keep up with doing, so i really feel that i owe a lot to nintendo! i feel so much better with the daily exercise.
Great! Good for you.
thanks. how are you?
I have some challenges but am hanging in there. Thanks for asking.
challenges seem always to hang around in some form or other. :P
i'm just ignoring mine these days.
When do classes end for the summer?
oh they already did - but that doesn't affect my job all that much.
Do you enjoy what you are doing?
yes and no...
some things i do, i enjoy
but some people i work with, i really don't enjoy
and sometimes i feel like our department isn't accomplishing anything, so it doesn't seem worthwhile
i have considered applying for similar type jobs in other departments
but it's hard because here, things are very relaxed in terms of hours, and that is worth a good deal, and you never know how it will be in a department until you are in it.
Good luck with whatever you decide.
thanks.
do you want to talk about your challenges?
(you are also welcome to email me if you like. not that there's any particular reason why you should feel like opening up to me out of anybody you could pick.)
Thanks for the offer ... I just have to do the things I know work .... but thanks again.
it's funny how hard it can be to do what you know works. i never could bring myself to exercise regularly even though i knew it would make me feel better, and then along comes the wii fit, and something just snaps into place. i hope some similar catalyst will come along for you.
Hello...
hey jell, how's you?
Yes, that would be good.
Hello, Jellen.
I'm well, although bored at the moment...
lower A is stumping me a bit
In a waiting room while Tim has some tests done...
ag 5, 6, 7 ak 5
ag 6/7 are stumping me
got ag5 and ak5... will look for 6/7
btw, good morning all!
good morning, MizHoffle
Hi, Miz
an 5
ah yes, an5
still don't see the 6/7 - are they weird?
the ag 7 ends with a variation of an IRA
thanks!!
what a nice simple and yet not too dumbed-down clue!
well, I must need the dumbed down clue because I am not getting it
Is this grid awful today?
the first four letters are someone who has an anxiety disorder that doesn't allow them to leave the house, and then it ends like a woolly mamm***.
no, the grid is not awful.
huh, what a word!
thanks!
note that that clue wasn't dumbed down either :)
sometimes you just know one thing but not another.
thank you for saving my pride, hurshy. :)
so true
I must go ... I am so happy for you, hurshy be well, everyone
you be well too... as well as you can at any rate!
Goodbye, BR! Have a blessed day...
in 6/30 please
things can have in6/30 valves to let stuff in
thanks!
I forgot about that lonely letter in the corner
Thanks, hurshy
keep away from runaround sue!! whoaoaoaoaoaoaoa
sue goes..... out with other guys, yeah
here's the moral of the story from that guy who knows i fell in love and my love still grows ask any fool that she ever knew they'll say keep away from that runaround sue!
I'm glad your all singing about Sue, and not Soo!
Hi, Dorens...the only Sue I know in my ex-MIL...
of course this always happened to women all the time, but guys expect them to put up with it. a girl does it to them, and they're shocked. suddenly it's this horrible thing you have to write a song to warn the other guys about...
1962 or thereabouts, that's why you might not have heard of it, jellen. dion and the belmonts, i think
that is the band, yes. i don't think jell hadn't heard the song, just meant the only sue she knows in REAL life
absolutely hurshy --- This is a Man's World (James Brown, probably about the same time)
Oh, I know the song...just musing about my personal experience with Sues, and this one won't run anywhere...
Also wish I didn't look like a blimp in ca6's...
Demis Roussos didn't seem to mind what he looked like while wearing one, Jellen
Oh, I killed the chat!
How are you, Soodle?
i was just finishing the grid. gotta be getting back to work now. ttfn!!
I am good, Jellen. And you?
ttfn, hurshy!
teachers keep coming into my ofice (where I'm hiding behind closed door, wolfing down my lunch and grabbing a few words) to complain about kids who are writing about death, or sticking their tongues out at th teacher (and that was a 6th grade boy)
I am bored...but otherwise good...
hah! bored is ONE thing I am never when at my job!!
That's good, isn't it?
I envy you being able to Babble at work. The IT guys barred Babble from my computer :(
I'm just bored, sitting in a waiting room for three hours now...
it was here too soodle, until this year, and i am so happy i found it
yes, jellen, it is very good, except for those days that i end up staying two to three hours late cause I can NEVER finish up!. and how do you get to babble in a waiting room??
Mind you, since they took it away from me, production has increased markedly!
wireless in hospital or med practice is your friend :)
WiFi! and a plug-in...brought my laptop...
hi, doren, jellen, and soodle
Hiya Seain. Nice pics of your Babble-fest last weekend.
i remember thinking i was actually lucky i couldn't do it at work, cause it would be hard to stay away. I am timing myself though... i h ave five more minutes
Hi, dc!
oh! hadn't considered that they would have wireless... nice to have laptops these days, isn't it?
Wonderful to have laptops!
ciociaJudy took the pix, except for the group picture, which a random guy waiting for a table volunteered to take for us. :)
A good evening was had by all, I gather?
the wireless at cleveland clinic kept me and tom's family well-occupied for hours on end :) through his surgery and appointments
hey seain, one of these days, probably when work is over, after June 24th, I'm going to come down to dc with a buddy cause i haven't been in ages, and want to do a museum or two. will let you know when it is, so we can attempt another meetup
we had a lovely time, indeed, soodle :)
Yay for random guy!
that would be lovely, doren :)
those pics are always fun to see
i'm out of town june 25-28 inclusive
I agree Dorens. I just love putting faces to names...

sean-- wish i had known you would be in cleveland. we could have had lunch or a beer or something!!!
i'll be in Cleveland again at a date yet tbd in June or July to take my cousin to Cedar Point. Well, and we want to go to Cedar Point :)
I usually stay in Solon when i'm there
Yay Tim's out...later, all!

Mom, I quit smoking yesterday! Am doing well...TY for the inspiration!
good for you jeannie
wtg jeannie!!!
its hard - day 2 & 3 were the worst for me. Ending my 3 weeks today. YOu can do it too!
I actually quit March 3, but started up again for three days and decided it was not worth it...especially the cost...$$$$$$$
dah - thanks peabody
WTG Mom!
yw
huge savings - that was one of my main reasons
Yay, Mom! 3 weeks is excellent!
Yeah..I mean, $45 in 3 days...definitely not worth it at all...
21 days - woohoo
I do not know why my American flag is not showing....
wow - It cost me $48 for a carton that would last 10 days
I quit 8.5 months ago and my husband did it at the same time (shocked we're still married - lol) after 20+ years of smoking, and the savings enabled us to buy him a new car
did you hit the update button below the profile choices
Yeah, well I did it up good and was smoking three packs in a day...that decided it for me...1 was too much and a thousand wasn't enough....
I'll try the update button...brb
thats great you did it together. My husband hasnt been supportive at all. Mine quit 3 days after I did after me screaming bloody murder at him since he promised he would quit with me.
There we go! Thanks!
wow that is alot of smokes. I cant smoke at work and didnt smoke in my house. It cuts down when you have to go outside.
YOu got it now
http://theoatmeal.com/comics/customer_ service
This grid is especially hard... I'll never finish it...

Thanks Mom, finished

yw - do you have that fe5 bubba
crossy I went over your customer service thing. That's hysterical.
it is funny cause it is true
the fe5 means really stinky
fe5, fe + trailer parks are alway hit by ***nadoes;
my friend is from pakistan, what he does is call customer service and when he gets a line he just asks the guy at the other end to patch him through on the phone system and he can talk to his relatives for free lol
Oh lord. I think I've just hit a solid wall with 21 left
fe5 fe + betwen different countries would be ***ernational
its the first one I need
thanks bubba and ormal
I'm slow in responding because I'm in and out of here. Sorry.
I know how you feel sam - even with the list Im stuck
I adore your profile Samantha!
you think youve hit a wall with 21 left , i have 95 left!
Thank you Ormal!
My life is, uh, well, read crosshair's profile to know what my life is like!
evening guys
isnt that a great story - Hi Trezz
I can give clues for the next 20 minutes then have to go pretend to be busy doing things I'd rather not do. :D
na6 please
the person who watches rich kids - alternate ending
Ormal, will you tell me if the en 5/6 combo is actually a combo or not? Are they related words?
completely unrelated
Well, that explains why I've been having so much trouble in the hunt. I've been looking for the wrong thing!
thanks ormal
Thanks.
No problem. I finished a while ago and thought I should do other things, but didn't feel like it. :D
The ag 5/6/7 -- Are they related?
the ag 5 is unrelated. the other two are related
This is such a small grid to be giving me such a challenge!
clue for the first ne6 please
1st ne6: cleaning up
I'm at work but cannnot concentrate knowing I have words left
I am having a VERY hard time with this grid, Samantha...if it is any comfort to you...
wouldnt it figure its the easy ones I couldnt find - thanks again
I think my brain is mush
It does make me feel better, actually, I don't feel like such a dunce!
So, here's a distraction for you: If Cheetos were breakfast cereal, what would their marshmallows look like?
Black spots???
You mean Cheetos are NOT a breakfast cereal? Oh NO!
LOL!!!
Well, I guess that also means that Kool-Aid isn't a breakfast drink, either..nor Coke...
Your brain is not mush, this grid has some crazy words. I used Lickety AND Morewords, plus a few clues that popped up in the chog while I was doing the grid.
Coke is what you pour on the Cheetos, at least when you can't get Dr Pepper
Oh take it BACK jeannie. Soda is SO a breakfast item!
What is Morewords?
I never have luck with morewords
Okay, I offically pronounce all soda as breakfast drinks!
www.morewords.com You type in the beginning letters and see what pops up.
ooo, I'l have to try that one...ty
I have fourteen words left. One of them is 8 letter; three of them are seven letter. I need a break.
its the 6's that are killing me today
That's cuz you didn't eat your bowl of Cheetos and Dr Pepper Sam
12 to go, but I can't keep my eyes open
I'ma go do dishes, and consider mixing a strong rum 'n' Coke. Youknow it's a bad grid when dishes sounds like more fun and it gives me an excuse to, errrrrr, I mean, drives me to drink.
I only have 25 words total! That is terrible!
giving yourself fresh eyes Sam
*poof*
*pokes nose into chog to see if NB is hovering somewhere*
...I seriously just came online. Eva, how do you DO that?
I got 5 left for a long time now
i have a very good gaydar. ;)
is the first an7 related to a spice or coloring?
LOL. So advanced it doesn't just tell you IF the man is gay, but also tells you how close he is to a laptop? ;)
something like that. hehe
harry - tree used to produce red food coloring
yes it is harry, and I nearly had to go the the PB over it about an hour ago.
yeah I thought so - it's not working for me
clue for the to6 please

oh no, Eva, too much like magic ;) what are you up to, anyway?
finishing up the work day... actually, editing photos for my blog at the moment -- shhh, dont tell! ;)
hmmm, I wonder who I'd tell...Leo? The cat? ;)
never tell the felines -- theyre so catty. ;)
My 20 minutes is up, so I gotta go do that pretending to be busy doing chores thing (ugh). Take care
have a good night ormal
ahhh, she's a very sweet-natured cat, but almost constantly disapproving. Mind you, slacking off is her hobby of choice ;)

Hi Katie
I tried asking Leo but he lost me at pixels and graphics cards...
hi, Katie :)
Pixels are your friends, and better graphic cards are both better and expensive. If you like to use computer for videos or games, you might care about graphic cards. If not, you don't, really.
thats when you just take him to the shop, let him point, and you pay. :)
Or better yet, he pays!
welp, on that not, im afraid ive got to be going. gotta go get mah hurr did! ;)
Bye Eva
I love having mah hurr did

lately I am here 7:30 to 5 M-F.
I'm not quite sure I would fit in NB - no offense - I would find it a great deal of fun though
i do 8.15 to 5.30 with no lunch and an hour and a half drive each way, no wonder I slept so long on holiday!!
I should add I am paid welll and love my job lol
takes all sorts Mom ;) and you don't have to be gay...but I'm guessing it really, really, really helps. Particularly tips-wise..
do you work in a gay club NB?
thats a long day Katie - they should pay you well
sometimes, Katie - I work in a regular pub, as well. On worst days I do 12-8 at the pub and then 9-4 at the club...I crawl home after that ;)
Hope you are saving all the money while you are young - at some point you are going to hit the wall with those double shifts
all these early mornings sound horrrible!
hello all
they towed my old car away today :(
I have always lived quite far from work but sometimes the drive gets me down. I was working more from home recently but just back from holiday and I have meetings every day, and one of my team got moved to another today and another leaves tomorrow which leaves me with two new people to train again next month and short staffed until then. I should take it as a compliment that I trained the last one so well that someone stole him so quickly
it's okay Mom, I survive on red bull and nervous energy ;)
NB my old car was almost as old as you :-)
I'm usually awake by 5:30 anyway - have to force myself to stay in bed on the weekend
hi, Peri! oh, what a shame - were you very attached?
I would be dead on my fe** on your long days NB
yse, very attached, NB, she had a name and everything. gave her a hug and a kiss before she was put on the back of the tow truck
My dog is 5 years younger lol
my old car's name was Sabrina. my new car's name is Buster
I wake up at 6am out of the house by 7am at the latest. The other day I was so jet lagged I forgot I was going to a meeting at our main office and got on the motorway the wrong direction, it took me 20 mins to get back to where I started and head to the correct office
it's not as bad as it sounds...it's very nearly fun ;) I meet a lot of interesting people...if I wasn't in a relationship I'd rave more about it, 'cause I come home with a lot of phone numbers ;)
sorry, couldn't resist
and tips no doubt lol
awww, Peri! still, nearly 19 years of faithful service is a good run..
is this grid mean or am I having a thick day?
LOL Katie - as a babbler said to me once - "swing those hips to get those tips" - I laughed so hard!
I had a car called mopsy and sobbed when I traded her, ex thought I was mad as I drove away in a brand new car crying lol
I understand Katie
in6/30 pls
I have company cars now - they have no name!
I donated my old car to the Salvation Army
wish I had a company car
awww, you bunch of softies ;) I learned to drive only so I would never have to sit behind a steering wheel again...hate driving.
it's fantastic peri, people complain about the tax but that is because they have forgotten how expensive it is to have your own car.
Actually just remembered that this one is called Christine after she locked me in
I hate driving too...wish I had my own personal driver
LOL Katie!
clue for go 6 please
Spray, I just find it -so- stressful! I'm very aware that I'm in charge of a death machine when I'm driving...
I'd better go and get something to eat, see you all later
go6/24 something I had go**** for Christmas
I worry about the other aggressive drivers NB...there are som crazies out there!
in6/30 pls
My friend was hit by a tractor trailer last week...he was on a motorcycle!
omg! was he alright?
bbs
suffered a fractured knee cap and torn muscles in his shoulder, he is a very lucky person
I d'ont have it peri.
oh my goodness...hope he recovers quickly :/ you are so vulnerable out on a motorbike...!
not getting the go 6 clue
just a quick question before I go, has JC stopped playing? I saw something on facebook about it
Peri, you have an in**** and exhaust on your car
Yes, my husband had a flat on his motor cycle last week going 70 mi and hour.
go6 slang for something you received
ty sea spray
oh god...I wouldn't trust a great deal of what you read about him on facebook, Katie. Most of it is just pure lies, made up by malicious people :S
they both claimed to have had green lights, friend had a witness come forward a few days later to say the truck ran a red light
yw mixi
same as the ro6/18 (spoiled food) but change first letter
I don't get involved in the whole thing but he was called an ex babbler and I thought it would be a shame if he had given up
not an ex-babbler as such, it's just he can't come into the chat, 'cause he's met by a lot of unpleasantness.
got interrupted at work = dont they know I am babbling!
getten
sorry
well that is a really shame I'm a grand believer in live and let live
oh I heard some of you talking about that last week - never knew him and have no idea what happened - too bad whatever it was - puts a strain on everyone
quite, Katie :)
right I really am off to get some dinner, see you all later
It's all been very unpleasant Mom...don't really understand it...JC is a dear friend of mine, though, so I'm seriously disappointed
Boo did you get that word yet
bye katie
I used to play a game called Acrobabble and the site was shut down because of one player...such a shame
sometimes there are misunderstanding that some people cant get by - like I said, I dont know what happened or who was involved - dont really need to either
I have a vague idea of what happened, and so far as I can tell, JC is totally in the right and is being attacked.
yeah...it's sad that some won't let it go. There's just one particular clique that won't drop it!
I completely agree, Samantha
For nothing. They're screaming things "what happens int he chog stays in the chog" and I'm all like, "honey. this site is indexed by Google. It's public, baybees."
Pretending that this is a private space is foolishness.
quite! it's a public chat, not a cult..
fed the cat so no access to the fridge. Is this still over the dog thing?
I am here to have fun and meet some awesome folks - not to get involved in any issues - have enough of those in my private life. Well time to clean off my desk - daughter has a softball game tonight (brrr) wil have to get the wool'ns out
One of them was insisting that she shouldn't be "outed" because she has a stalker--I went looking on Google and within ten minutes had discovered where she works, her home phone number, the city she lives in, her real name, a picture online, and her religious affiliations. Yeah, bucko, you're doing such a good job of maintaining privacy there.
fair does Mom ;) have fun and stay warm!!
It's not so much the dog thing. That's not the issue anymore. It's about whether this is a private or a public forum.
good luck to your daughter mom. see you tomorrow
. . . Good god where do you live that you're still wearing woollens? It's 85 degrees here and that's because a cold front moved in.
plus, now they are calling his identity into question - which is, of course, ridiculous, as he is exactly who he says he is
I work on the principle that anything put into cyberspace is public and am quite careful about what I say or which groups I join on Facebook
thanks - I am in NH - 50 degrees now - game is at 6 - it will be 40 or below by the time it ends
That's wise, Katie. The conceit that there is privacy online is just that--a conceit.
taking off now *poof*
Goodness, mom. I can't remember it being less than 75 here in the last month.
G'bye.
that's good for you, Katie. I tend to fling all kinds of info out there and hope that nobody cares, which I'm sure nobody does!
Hey. That's actually your best protection, Nancy--stay under the radar and hope that no one ever cares enough to dig.
Oh now HOW did I miss man's best friend in the grid? My two ca6s are dear to me!
Ironically, the only people who actually wish me ill are my family - the very people who know the most about me! So when it comes to the 'net, who cares ;)
Oooh, thanks, I missed that word too!
actually I've just googled myself and now realise that everyone can see my babble profile, time to change it methinks
Oh, dear, Nancy, I'm sorry to hear that--it's not uncommon to be separated from their families but it's rarely happy.
Thanks, Samantha :) but it's okay - got more than enough people around me! Friends are the family you choose.
that's it taken out my real name and contact details
How on earth has this topic managed to come up again? I think it's about time that someone acknowledges that it is certainly not just one "clique" that won't let this go...
Is that also you on MySpace, Facebook, and Twitter that shows up on the first page? You're kind of protected by not having a unique username.
haha, googled my player name - I get song lyrics and some choice urban dictionary definitions ;) think I'm safe!
too true NB, hubby is estranged from his parents but he has such good friends they more than make up for it. He now also has my mum and dad
Uniquity, I dunno nothin' about no cliques. What I do know is that the arguments I see being advanced don't make any sense to me, and I am the kind to chew on things until I understand them. That's why I participated in the discussion.
8 words left. Current Mood: Determined
sorry uni it was my fault I asked if he was still playing as I was on holiday and didn't know anything had happened, it was raised in all innocence honestly
Miserable bloomin computer is acting up -- again! But I have managed to sign on to Babble, at last.
Cliques are irrelevant, I am responding to NB's post at 3:05 that "There's just one particular clique that won't drop it!" No longer true.
Hi Christine :-)
Hang on Christine
Yes, Uniquity, we all knew who and what you were talking about, despite your clever attempt to conceal the fact that you meant "Nancy Boy" by the clever insertion of "someone" instead.
whatever floats yer boat Uniquity - I'm certainly not going to fight about it. I have just seen some very malicious activity that, personally, I find disappointing.
love the photo uni
OMG I'm sorry I raised it please don't all fall out
SJoy, you very much over-read my 'someone'. I'll change it to EVERYone. While NB made the assertion this eve, many on both (all?) sides have made it before.
s'okay here Katie...I'm a lover, not a fighter ;)
good way to be ;-)
Katie, I lay no blame at your door or anyone else. And as far as I know, there's not any falling out going on. It'd just be nice for some things to end.
fantastic, right I really am going for food so will see you all tomorrow night
Ah, yes, Uniquity if that's the case then I did read overmuch into it. I apologize. It looked like classic passive aggressive bitchiness to me but (to bring the conversation back a bit) that may have been me reacting to my mother, not you. :)
it would be lovely for it all to end - not possible when he gets jumped on just for entering the log, however.
Before this blessed thing goes bellyup, and I'm reduced to paper and pen, will someone give me a clue to the 8 letter word.
insects and radios have 'em, Christine :)
The thing about it ending, though, is that it's not over as long as JC can't come in without beign attacked. To insist that "we should let it drop" before then is to insist that it's OK that he was chased out. And, for all I know, it MAY BE OK that he was chased out, but I doubt it.
Boy, things appear hot and heavy - I've not played for about two weeks, and I'm completely out of everything.
Which one, an8 the plural of what radios and ants have or ey8 which is what you would give for the answer?
the ey8? what you see with + what you eat with
Seven. Words. Left. I. Hate. This. Grid.
LOL. You can do it, Samantha!
Five words left. One five, two sixes, two sevens. Grrr; Arrrgh
I left for months, and this is almost the identical topic of conversation, Christine. Good to know there was a break though! Good luck in the grid, I'm taking my own advice and getting outta here.
Thanks for your help, but this thing is driving me crazy, so time for a cuppa and a book. Bye, y'all.
"Almost the same"? How long has this been going on, or has it happened to more than one person?
ohhh, it's been going on for a while - keeps having little flare-ups of unpleasantness. I have a few examples to hand, but they aren't really good material for the log...plus there is a small group keeping it going on facebook, etc
Hi all -- just taking a break from planting pots -- a little too warm to be working out in the sun just now.
You're planting what, exactly now, nan?
Facebook is al that is evil in this world you know.
LOL! Couldn't agree more ;) I'm off now though - nice talking to you Samantha, kind of good to get a sensible opinion on it all. Take care!
bye bye nancy!
petunias, begonias, impatiens, lobelia -- have lots of planter boxes and hanging pots.
does anyone know which dictionary this game uses?
Ah! Sounds lovely. I'm all into the plants that are both edible and pretty--rhutabagas, swiss chards, lavenders, rosemaries, that sort of thing.
leaving the veggies for tomorrow -- still to early to plant the beans, but can get the sweet basil and summer squash in.
It uses Enable, hayru
thanks, samantha!
I actually plant for odor as much as for looks--mint and lavender are currently my two favorites.
NP, hayru
I used to have mint, but had to get rid of it -- it was taking over.
That's one of the things I *like* about it, Nan, but we probably have very different properties and priorities.
sounds like it, Samantha
I GOT A WORD! I GOT A WORD! THREE LEFT! THREE LEFT!
37 left here, and thinking of listing
I have three acres, and I'd let mint take over if it meant fresh mojitos on a regular basis. Also, *ahem*, grass takes a lot of water in a climate that just doesn't get reliable rain.
Nan, if you have the EN 6/7, which are my ONLY TWO LEFT, I'll clue you in to everything else. :)
would someone be so kind as to clue the fo6/27? please :)
Do you have the fe5?
don't have either
2 of them
Bojazz--take the second FE5, and add the last four letters of it to fo
fe 5: fe + rugged mountain top
It's an alternate, older spelling of the same word
thanx Samantha
Nan, that's the one. That's how you get the fo6
fo 6 -- same as the fe 5 with an extra vowel
anyone have the ag 6?
you've seen the same phenomena in, say, "fetal" and "foetal".
Yes. The ag6 is "a long, long time ag*" + "if I didn't put my food in the refrigerator, the fruit will ***"
ty sam -- is the 7 related ?
Yes. Add a consonant that makes the whole word sound like a Lovecraftian Elder God.
like a whaaaat?
got it, ty -- lol
Not a Lovecraft fan? Just add a two point consonant to the end of the word. Trust me.
what is lovecraft?
must be some sort of sci-fi?
IA! IA! Cthulhu Fhtagn!
Actually HP Lovecraft was a racist SOB who wrote some horror stories that clapped on to the national attention in the 1920s. The concept is stil around today, but you'd have to be a geek to know about them.
my god, I've never bee called a geek before
Geekiness is a continuum, not a state, and you're clearly further along the spectrum than nan is.
en6.21 e & a m**** depressive - turn those letters back to front
hiya! what's the grid like?
my god, I understood that. thanks!
there is no en7, or did you mean en5?
Horrible. No one yet today has liked it.
Testing Feather
en 5
en 5 I've just sort of stopped looking
oh boy. thanks!
i love it, Sam (whatever it was) :)
en & consumed for en5
That's a *word*? Oh, and, uuh fireworks.
I'm just jumping in for a few minutes. This little computer is sooo jumpy without a mouse. We're almost done with your Great Northern Adventure. Such a wonderful place, Quebec.
I owe you a few. Anyone need clues?
hi Stidgmere
congrats Sam
yes - an5/10 - first one
HI stidg. For god's sake don't start the grid.
Hi lynxx and congrats Sam. Ready to focus on a few words.
AN + Tolkien's tree folk
I didnt get the "rugged mountain top" clue for the fe5, pls help
DON'T DO IT STIDG
I'm on a geekiness kick -- FE +a three letter science fiction book publishing house which employs Teresa Nielsen-Hayden as an editor
fe + not out + consonant
No, tinygods, that's the *other* fe5
ah, sorry. that's why I never clue.
fe & Babbler with bobblegum machine icon ***gone
well darn it, i had to enter a word just to check if i had your clue right! (i did)
Hee hee! you're awesome
i know! modest too.
Ty folks...I am now up to a record 29 words total...guess I am not going to excel at this at all!!! LOL!
to be honest, i didn't know the editor bit, but did know the sf publishing house
Welcome Jeannie, don't despair, this is a hard one
I protest that go 6 -- poor English at its worst!
and I keep wanting to enter "toot"...
oh, jeannie, you're starting on one of the tougher ones and frankly, word games aren't everyone's cup fo meat
Tell me about it. lynxx!!!
I LOVE word games, but this game beats them all!
The rewards are, uh, actually technically nonexistent no matter how much time you put into this, but lots of people have lots of fun anyway.
I think I'll take my 13 words and go home. Some kind of a record I suppose.
cup of meat????? ew.
in 6, please? -- either one
stidg, I did try to warn you
You do know about Lickety and Morewords Jeannie (if you are really desperate to finish)
Fork of ice cream.
Well, y'all are the finest people on the Net- that is my opinion!
try to think of it as a cup of BACON. who could possibly object to BACON?
Yes, I do, but they are NOT helping today!
found the 2nd one
I was just telling my husband that the chat was as important as the grid.
lol, ok, that's passable.
in 6 - Your car has an air in**** and an exhaust
And the other--Mozart had an in**** skill for music
Good after noon all.
You are right, stigmere!
yes, jeannie, today is exceptional
Sorry about missspelling (LOL)
ty sam
Yes, I am wonderful. Ready to fly home tomorrow and so eager to see Stidmama and family.
back to my planting -- will get the last 19 later
hmmm.in**** skill? Huh?
bye Nan, enjoy
Aha! Got it!
The word is equivalent to "inborn"
Wow! 31 words!
I cannot believe I just found the alternative word for zits...
LOL!
It's a common word, jeannie, been in the last three or four grids
If no one else has any requests for clues, I'm outta here.
I know, I know, but I just now saw it...DUH!
Hey Sam, how 'bout clues for all my remaining words???
You wanna start from the top? If it matters to you, I'm in.
LOL! Okay....If you want!!!! But don't you have a life??? Dinner to cook? Etc.????
I made pizza yesterday, enough for some people I was expecting who didn't show up. We're good for meals for a day or two. :/
I mean, I need 84 words.....LOL
First word: AC 5/12 AC+opposite of "out" + VOWEL
Got that one
Believe it or not
Ok...now what?
And I know you've got the enxt. OK: AG 5/14, A + base building block of hereditary tracking. A + "I'm glas I didn't contribute to that **** pool"
???
Next word: AG6/24. "A long, long time ag*" + "if I dont' put my fruit in the refrigerator it will ***"
Just hiding chat while you do this, don't want it too easy to get my missing words.
That's fair. I'll keep it up until she asks me to stop.
AG 5/14 I did not get
A + "scientist have discovered a **** that is associated with alzheimer's"
Got ag 5/14!!!! wow!
and a "duh" for not getting your good first clues
got ag6/24, btw
w00t! OK, next: "A long, long time ag*" + "if I don't put fruit in the refrigerator, it will ***"
oh, good. Now add a consonant to the end of it.
next one I have is an 5/14
You remember the ag 5? Put a k in place of the g
Wait what? There is no an 5/14
hello all
help with in6/30 pls
sorry...5/10 an
Hi peri. Your car has an in**** and an exhaust manifold
add cons. to end of what?
NM
going fast!!!
To get the ag7, add a consonant to the end of the ag6 word.
The an 5 -- AN + Tolkien's tree folk (have you ever read those books?)
some of the words I am entering are not coming up in my word list- the ak5 for instance. It won't register.
Yeah, dictionary.com and Google don't use the enable dictionary. Bunner.
Yeah, dictionary.com and Google don't use the enable dictionary. Bunner. Bummer*
not getting the ag7
OLh, you mean it won't show? Dude, I've had that problem before, I don't know what to tell you.
Jeannie, do you have the ag6?
I mean, it says I already entered it, but it is not appearing
Gremlins
Yes...the one with badf food at the end
Right. Type in that word and add a two-point consonant to the end of it.
Yep, hobgoblins, Kaplan. Sorry.
Got it. Another fish for me...Soon I will have a whole can and will make a casserole...
But you're making progress! And that one's not a fish, it's a hard word!
What's next?
Yes!!! Progress!!! Only 80 left!!!!
Have ak 5, an 5
an 4/4 is a girl's name
an** karenina
Another duh.
Now, take that girl's name, and add a double consonant and a vowel for the seven point word
Got it! Isn't that a flavoring???
Down to 78!
clue for in 5
Phhbbttt. I'm a cook, and it beats me. Look it up!
Boobear, that's a friggin in*** question.
Someday, I will.....My next word is a ca4/5 what cripples use
OK, jeannie, the next word is an 4/4. You can get this!
I will an** up my soul for the rest of the clues!!!
Woot!
look, you've got *a* 4/4; take that last word and change the last vowel
Boobear, that insult was actually, um, a clue. Did you get it?
it's not entering a lot of my words, which I will take as a hint to stop playing
Not getting that last vowel...
Have you considered a reboot?
yes I got it
NM...rhymes with santa
W00t!
Now--for an an5, add yet another vowel to the end of *that* word!
<bows> 75 left!!!!
that's ok samantha..I got it
Samantha, this is a hoot!
Oh, good, Boobear, I just realized I'd been flippant with someone I hardly knew so was worried. :)
74!
Jeannie, I'm having a great time.
So am I! I will never forget this!
Now. Back to ANs -- what do insects, radios, and cellphones have in common?
got both the 7 &8...72!
OK. A casual eatign place is a ca4/8
71 and a duh...
ca 6/30 is a warm, knitted blanket
70!!!!
And you've got the one that Dr. House uses. Next is man's best friend -- my two dogs are ca****s
69!!! and another BIG Duh! I have a ca 6...
There are four ca6s
My next is ci4/5
OK: It's the first four letters for a snobs way of saying "movie".
why isn't innage a word
"We went to the ci**ma last week-end"
???
ca+ ci**ma+???
Sorry, back, my computer died.
Yes. "ci**ma" is a fancy way of saying "movie house".
Thank goodness. I thought you had, from weariness!!!
But there is no M
Heh; this laptop is older (in computer years) than I am.
Sam is trying to clue ci4.5 for you
No. The ci 4/4 is ONLY THE FIRST FOUR LETTERS of the fancy way of saying "movie house"
Right. 4/5. That's what I meant to say, really. :)
I have ci4.5!!!!
I also have the en before that one
well, close to that one
I do believe you've covered all of the As, Es, and Cs.
Let me check Lickety...
Well, OK, not all the Es, then. EA5 is the past participle of "to stuff food in one's pie hole"
Do not have the ea...
"Would you like to go to dinner?" "No, thanks, I've already ea***"
DUH!!! 68...
Don't beat yourself up, past participles aren't verb forms we use a whole lot in America. :)
Yeah...people say, I already 8...
There's an en5, and an en6, only one of each. Do you have either?
Have en6, no en5
clue for na 5
got the en5 by myself!!!!
67!!!
5? Because except for the first letter, it's thew00t!
na5 - Well dressed and lookin' sharp, boobear
en 6 en plus ci4/5
Your next, then, is an et4/4
This is something called a "Babblet". It's a word you will never, ever encounter except for Babble, or where it's used as a proper noun. This one is called "the volcano".
Got it.... 65!
Fuck it, I'm just gonna break a lot of rules here. ANYONE WHO IS NOT JEANNIE, AVERT YOUR EYES: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mount_Etn a
The next I have is a certain type of chewing word
*walking into chog with eyes closed*
ouch!
OK, I don't know what that is.
hi jmc
I mean, I know what closed eyes are, but chewing gum eludes me
hi all
Well, thank you for your enormous sacrifice and bravery, sam! But I already had gotten it from the volcano clue!
Hello lawyerlady!
ey8 is what I have next
Good, jeannie! According to Lickety, which one do you need next?
Let me look...
fa4/7
and I got it...63
It's like a window pa** with a F as a first letter
have only 2 of 6 fe's
fe 4/7 -- both a remarkable act of courage, and the appendages at the end of your legs
those two are homophones--they sound alike but are spelled slightly differently
I don't like this grid at all
61!
boobear, this is a horrendous, awful, terrible, no good, very bad grid
it looks worse than it is boo
i agree
Boo, I am so dumb, Sam is spoon-feeding it to me!
the next one is an fe5. It sounds like a fit wherein people fall over unconscious, but the second letter is different.
is this your first time playing
your are a newbie jeann i didn't get a lot of these at first either
Just about!
te 7, please?
Fair warning y'all-- you mgiht want to shut up chog for a little bit, 'til we're done with The Project
I have been babbling for about a year now and still learning
Yup. New as a baby, but not new to chat...and have a sister who used to Babble a lot
TE7 -- Like the ship that went down, the one that James Cameron made a movie about
LOL! THE PROJECT is helping jeannie get her first fireworks!
well i will be gone soon to go home so i am not worried sam
ty sam
And a worthy proect it is. Where are we?
wtg sam! i was babbling for about 6 months before i got my first fireworks
fe's- have fe 4/7's, and 5/16, then anothe fe 4/7
and a final fe 5
Do you have the cheese?
so am missing two 4's I think
I do now...one more 4...(60)
Just one 4/7, I think; either the cheese or the party. They're identical but for the last vowel.
party?
Have all fe's.
That's what t means. It's identical to the cheese but for the last vowel
AWESOME! -- Do you have to fo6?
sorry that was my clue for jeann
no fo6 yet
okay i am off for home bbl
ty 5?
Look at the last fe5. Type "fo" and then add the last four letters of the last fe5.
fo 6: enemy + high rugged mountain top
Got it! good clue! 59...
We're into the Gs in
*clues
Type a homophone for "gain" -- how's that for a clue?
only have the garden ga** closure word
Hey, that one worked twice! Great clue! 57!
Take the second word. Add a four point consonant to it.
56!
The four point consonant is the last letter, in case I hadn't made that clear. LOL
ty 5 -- please"?
(Sam, I am kissing your feet at this point! Great clues and a lot of laughing going on at this end!)
A hompphone, nan, is that the church wants you to ti*** 10% of your income.
jeannie, I'm having fun. :) What's next?
ty sam
last ga is ga 5/20. Then I have the garden closure next. Missing some?
*!* ta da *!* - thanks for the help :)
do you not have lickety's list, jean?
There's one in the middle. It's ga 6/24.
I do, but I am new and am too dumb to get these obscure words...and we are learning here! Like What a Babblet is!
ga 4,4,5,6,4,5
Can you clue the ga 6?
ga 5/14 - swamp creature
This one is stupid hard to clue. GA + go south + go west + go north + go north
ga 6: last part of started + what you use to catch a butterfly
Got it, ty, down to 54!
All ga's done.
Have NO ge's.
Aagh? None?
ge 4: part of a cell
Except in my kitchen....
ge 5: add a consonant
Some people do ge**tic testing on their dogs, or before they have babys
ge 7: double the consonant and add a vowel
back to my gardening -- back at the flip -- good luck jean
All done ge's!!! 51!
Thanks, Nan!
goddamn. cybernan is GOOD!
the only other g si the GO--do you have it?
So are you...I am doing GREAT with your clues!
Nope
I have go**** it! 50 left!
The GO6 is another past participle.
See, you're getting a lot of these once you know to look for them. You don't need a crutch as much as you think you do. :)
Have all the he's.
HE4/8 means "weight"
Blieve it or not, only need the two in 4's.
OK then. IN 5/10 means "vapid, meaningless"
Oh. The first is a shortening of "in**rmation"
Another fish for my can...49
Got the last in...48
Next, need one ka4
Citizen KA**
Got the citizen...
The other one is a boxing term. It's a shortening of knockout
Finally got it...46!
Good clue, btw!
AWESOME! My husband, btw, is behind me, cheering you on.
Just need na 4
Oh boy, a witness to my stupidity! LOL
OK. It's NA + 2 vowels.
Love, you
Love, you're not stupid.
I'll bet that is a Babblet, right?
I can tell, because you're funny. Stupid people are never funny
45
I do believe it's a babblet, yes
Why, TY. But I think I am proof you can be stupid and funny....all at once....
So -- the next two -- is your house ne**? Do you ne**** your house before the maid arrives?
got 'em already
But no other ne's
Hello everyone. This is my first look at the grid today. How is it?
hey- what maid????
OK then. The next two NEs are related.
scrabbler...it is like the little girl with the curl
k
An evil, small grid? I am familiar with these.
Scrabbler, run. The grid is terrifying. It's evil. JUST RUN LIKE YOUR ICON!
I already dove in. I will find what I can then quit. I never feel any need to complete grids anymore.
got 'em...like what I could use to catch all my fish with...43....
next?
The next two NEs: I have a hard time coming up with a clue here. There are some in between those and the last ones, enter the list into Lickety and see.
If I say that you lie, I ne**** your claim.
ok, go for the ne 7
If I say that you lie, I am a ne***** o fyour claim. Related word.
got 5:47 clue...42...
The six and seven are inextricable
I don't get that clue yet--can you make it simpler for me please?
Got it...41..Let me count...I think I have all ne's..hang on...Need a 4 after the 7
ne 6 + mountain top makes ne 7, sorta
The seven: Here's as simple as I can make it, which is *too* simple because I don't seem to have an intermediate stage: It's the first five letters of the ne6, with the letters "either/**" tacked on to the end
All my n's are greyed out! ....40!
The ne 4 you don't have is repetitive. NE + and repeat.
See, I need ne6 first. I just started.
hi folks .. how's this: ne + St. Peter, open the Pearly **** for goodness' sakes!
Right: The NE4 is also known as "the Goose". It's a Babblet. Very silly, I know.
Oh. NE 6: If I call you a liar, I ne6 your claim
Aha, TY, Welki!!!
Next, need the oo- want to make it with small bad bug but cannot
Welki, you're clearly better at this than I am. :)
nah
oo5/10 + If the first two letters were "ee" it would mean spooky.
WE are at 39...the end is looking closer!
74 to go
Great clue! 38
RI** gear used by police
RI** of passage
RO** vegetables
Scrabbler, scroll back a good bit- Sam has clued the whole puzzle for me
ro***** -- the root system of a plant.
TY. But I will do what I can then quit. I shoot to pass halfway.
ro7 + ro4 + how old are you, what is your ***?
not getting the ending of ro**....
What is your ***, how old are you?
Got it! TY! 36! Marilyn + Di's ages...sad...
(Pun intended)
ro5/14 = RO4 + three point letter that is sometimes a vowel and sometimes a consonant
Well, wordplay, anyway
Oh! goes with candy flavor! 35!
The basis of all humor! YES!
RO + Consonant + vowel. The consonant is the same ini all three cases
Sorry, did I forget to mention that the next three words are all ro4/4s?
Yes...got two of them..both with vowels..missing #3
I am stuck on na 5
Use the first vowel in the vowel list
NA 5 = Lookin' good and sharp dressin'
na5- dressed to the 9's
32 left...neeed last r05 & 6
RO + Double consonant + Vowel
Now add a consonant
NM- got 'em!!!!! 30!!!!! WOOT!
You're gonna finish this one.
What's next
Have two of 5 ta's- septic holder and the acid
Bye kids. I am at 60/55 and that is enough.
acid is ta6
The next ta is just like the acid, but with a different last cnsonant
bye scrabbler
Bye, Scrabbler!
bye, scrabbs
Just need 4 &5 afetr septic holder
The first two TAs -- If I steal something from you, I will first ta** it from you, and then I will have ta*** it from you.
ne
*Before* the septic holder actually
Double Duhs.....27!!!
The TE4 is a kind of wood
And the next TE are the ceramic things in your mouth
Got first 3 te's..need last 4
4 letter word, I measn
OK, good!
There are only four TEs total, though
Yes, I know..just need last 4-letter word
And I got it....25 left!!!! Rah!
OK!
You need THs?
Only have 2 th's out of 6... other word for "you" and stolen word
If someone steals something from you, is it th***s or yours?
24!
Also, Google the last letter of the Greek alphabet
23!
And here's a Babblet ... this is a lot like the shortening of a Theodore's name, except the first vowel is changed.
And a th*** commits th***s, right? Someone who steals is someone who commits th***s, right?
21! Have all th's! Need Ti next...
Right. This is another ridiculously hard one to clue.
NM!20!
Whoa.
Whoa. You're good
Whoa. You're good
TO** PARTY!
there are 8 to's- have NONE!
Now add a vowel to the above clue, and you've got the to 4/6 and the to 5/14 TO**! TO** TO**
Apparently you were neither a member of a fraternity or a sorority in college.
Got em....16 left!!!! <shivers>
Have yo uever watched animal house??!?!
OK. Look at your last TO5. Place a consonant between the last two vowels. You'll end with to+garden end
Nope, but know about it, and can see what's his name in a to** with a bunch of other guys...
I'd be scrubbing my brain with bleach had I just has that image in it!
good clue...15...drum roll starts up quietly....
Oh My Goodness I'm being mobbed
Who knew that two dogs could constitute a mob?
Got the spanish for bull and type of carry bag
You're almost there
Take the bull and put another vowel on the end of it
And I'll give you the next clue when I get around to**
And I'll give you the next clue when I get around to**
Now, you know the things that children play with? Legos and Barbies and the like? Take that word, keep it singular and then add a vowel to the end of it for to4/6
cannot find the vowel to go with bull...are we talking abouty the same word???
Yes. Take the first three letters for the spanish word for bull, then add another vowel to the end of it
clue for te 7 pls
It will still be a four letter word when you're done.
te7 - Like the ship that sank, the one that James Cameron made a movie out of.
Sam! <gasp> just saw that we msissed a "c' word!!!! Oh, No!!!
In fact, 6 c words
BWAA HA HAHAHA!! We'll get back to it, I promise
Now need ty
TY Is like when the church demands 10% of your income.
and one more to4
one more to4 and t's will be greyed out
Did you get the TO4 that I said I'd give you when I got around to**?
Tada! T's are grey! all that is white are Y's and C's!!! 11 left!
There's a YA, and if you don't get it I will YA4 a rug from under your feet
<sheepishly>already had that one...it is the opposite of what I am...>
The second Y sounds like the article of clothing known as blue je**s, except that the first letter is a Y
It also sounds like strong be**, except, again, it starts with a y
neato! rhymes with my name! 10!!!! <drum roll gets louder>
The next one's tricky. Sounds like a Barbra Streisand movie, which I expect you as a (presumably) non-Jewish southerner to have never heard of. Give me a minute.
It's a Yiddish word. Have you ever watch Foddler on the Roof?
you mean the Jewisdh Ye*** Claus???? LOL!
YES!!!!!!
9...
And there are two spellings. Different ending vowels, is all
OK, just need two more y's- one more ye
It accounts for two YE5/14s
ye I need is a 4
YE + double consonant
I have ye** to finish!!! HAHAHA! & left- one y and 6 c's
The last Y is a YO -- stretching exercise
WAY big fish for missing that one....can barbecue with that fish!...okay! all that is left are the c's we missed...and we will be done!
Tell me what Cs you have, and we'll start from there, and damnit, we're nearly DONE!
Hey, y'all...have about ten minutes to Babble before leaving for the evening...
All the rest are ca's- I have: restaurant; afghan; walking helper; dog...
that's good. start from dog
k
first three letters of dog, double the last consonant and add the first vowel
Hi Jellen
Hi, Jellen...Sam is coaching me to my first fireworks!
We're almost there. I am so excited!
Go jeannie!
Go Jeannie!
5 left...<drum roll gets louder with tympani added>
Take the first four letters of the last word, and add two vowels for a six letter word
Got that one just as you clued it...got to thinking that you were pretty ca****! 4 left!
hee hee! the next one means a lilt, but it's often seen with an apostrophe, and then it means "cannot"
3....(folksw, get out of the way...the matches are being lit...>
It also means jargon or slang language
OK. Take that last word and add a vowel to the end of it for a ca5
2
canto
OK Take that *last* word and add a consonant to the end of *it*, for a CA6
sorry..I cannot believe I finally screwed up!!! LOL!
heh!
!>>>JUST O-N-E!!!!!!
And the very last word is a CA 5/16 that's related to all the other CAs that we just went through
Just take that CA4 and add a three point letter to the end of it
F-I-R-E-W-O-R-R-K-S!!!!!!!!!!!!Blessin gs to you, Sam!!!!!!
Yay, jeannie!!!
Huzzah1
WOOT-WOOT!!!
WOOP!! W00T! *pant pant pant* HUZZAH!
nice job jeannie
I cant (pun) believe that this puzzle had so many words hidden in it....
Kudos to Sam!!!! Nice Job cluing there!
I feel that way every time I finish one
I am enjoying the fireworks!
Now I see just hoe many words I missed because I did not look backwards or sideways or something
Aren't they pretty? And now you need to ask Lickety about his browser. It's made specially for Babble, and he includes a different video every day for when you complete the grid!
May I please have some help with the right column E?
I also cannot type <pant, pant>
Okay, must run...Congrats again, jeannie and to Coach Samantha, too!
ey 4/6
WEll, I am going to go now...I am sore from sitting up...(back trouble) but thank you all.....
There's a five and an eight coming from that one--do you have either?
Goodbye jellen!
G'bye jeannie. I am very happy that you made it.
Thanks, SamanthaJoy...you are well-named
No..don't have any of the 2 from that E
*blush*
One is a compound word. It means the incisors in between your front te*** and your ca**** te*** (OK, it's not my fault that so many of those words are in the grid!)
Just got the EY 8...thank you!
fireworks
The other is a past participle. "Are you hungry?" You might be asked. And "no, I've just ea***" might be your response.
w00t Boobear!
Fish! TY!
thank goodness that is done.
OK, I'm out of here. I've clued roughly 90 words in the last few hoursl; taking a break now.
bye now

Good grief! TY Dawg!

ac + mart***, shaken not stirred
TY!
Hi kids. Checking in before I go to bed. I have had a migraine all day.
hi scrabs!
did i get to thank you? if not, thanks!
Hi Scrabs. Sorry to hear of your migraine {{hug}}
it's the darn weather
Hi Feather. Yep, you thanked me. TY for making kids' lives better too.
Just when my tooth is better I woke up with a migraine this morning. Rain, rain go away.
yick. stupid vowels.
Where is Nutty? Her Penguins are struggling with Montreal.
Vowel overdose.
ge 7?
No idea here, Car
heigh ho
only up to 38 here, still working on it
hi dorens
Hi Doren! How have you been?
hi feather, how are the adorable boys?
I love the bathtub story, Feather. Whenever kids become quiet or whisper you know trouble is being planned.
adorable, as always! percy, aka nick, is now talking up a storm
finally
scrabbs, I've been ok. riding out the merry-go-round, or the roller-coaster, waiting to see if i will have a job, a raison d'etre, come september. it changes from day to day
oh,, i remember "percy" that was nut's name, yes?
he was pretending to take pictures in the van while we were ddriving today. kept saying "say cheese!" over and over. finally, said "last one!" then "hold still!" so freaking cute.
Uncertainty is brutal. Being unemployed sucks.
where did he learn that from, i wonder?
(totally biased here)
lol, not me! i try to sneak in candids, rarely direct
Kids retain so much.
....wait...the hold still part might have been me after all....
yes scrabs.. but maybe it will have its benefits. unlimited babble time? more time to chat (sometimes I lurk, cause there just isn't time to do anything but get the words!) gardening done at leisure, instead of in a crunch?
But can you afford to "retire"?
en 6?
feather, he had to learn it from somewhere!! little pitchers have big ears (a dumb homily from years ago)
our district keeps saying this year is bad, but next year's gonna be worse.
Sorry, no help from me, Car.
no, not really... but I could sell this house (over $16,000 property taxes a year) and no mortgage
How about the an 7's?
wish i could help car!
Yesterday I was with Mary's kids and we were painting. J, almost 6, said, "Do not disturb an artist at work."
LOL
yes, feather, as bad as this year is, next year probably would be worse. our district is holding onto all day kindergarten this year, but don't expect it next year
sorry car scrabbs, J is wise indeed
Public schools are hurting.
oh my gosh, what a backward step
Battery is about to die. Off to bed for me. I need 2 good nights of sleep because then I am on call Fri-Sat-Sun.
well feather, this year we are losing all guidance counselors. After today, with a 6th grader with a considerably advanced case of suicidal ideation....where my expertise really helped in this particular situation... i just think "what will they do next year?"
en + i saw a movie at the ***em*
ty car
night scrabs, hope the migraine goes away
nite scrabbs... sleep well (hope the mouth is doing better)
it's a horrible situation
Is there a crisis service, Doren?
in fact, it's in5
Tooth/jaw are better, except when opening wide. Migraine today. Part 2 of root canal is on 5/18.
hee hee, just found that word
an 7/28...rabbit ears on an television set
plural for an 8
yes, but it is drastic... when the kid isn't really in crisis, it is overkill.. this boy needs some help, but he isn't an immediate threat to himself, he just needs some therapy. sending him off to a stranger in an ER would not help him really
Does the school have a plan for kids in need?
clue for en6/21 please. my last word
yay! ty car
so far, the plan has been me. i have no idea what they intend to do next year
Just clued, Vic
I just clued it a few minutes ago vici
thank you!
OK, time to give the bunnies a few Cheerios and then go to bed. Cheerios = snack.
nite scrabbler, nite bunnies
night scrabs
Nite Scrabs...feel better
second row E help please?
Italian moutain?

I have 2 words left and I just can't find them...the first AN 7/28 and GE /36....
ok, got NBT and over halfway
***waiting for the clues that car has requested***
**waiting too*
hi doren - stopped in to commiserate - i can just imagine what you're going through - and you're right, they will miss you when you're gone, but it will be too late -
our district is still in limbo - some people have received non-renewal letters, but there are going to be many many reassignments and transfers (to deal with the retirements/firings, etc.) and nobody knows where they will end up
found out today that IF they win a case that's held up in courts, some due process thing we're they're being sued for infraction of special ed law,, IF they win that case, then they'll have the money to pay my salary. how crazy is that?
GE....GE*eral Robert E. Lee + I had lunch sitting in a small kitche*****
an 7/28 is a spice - double consonants
ty car
As you can see from my clues...I am struggling!
and jbv thanks
we're ok as far as no firings. all retirements are being filled in house, people are being shifted.
ty car, and Hi all.
uh uh, car... your clues are tremendous but feather, you're in NY.. problems there, yes, but you don't have to deal with generalissiimo christie
you said it, doren!
hi w
got it! Had to look up the spice, but I got it! TY!!!!!
FIREWORKS
no, you sound in worse straits than us
yay car!
this man is truly insane
we have patterson, no real friend of the schools or state workers right now
TY all for carrying me over the finish line! Any clues before I go?
ok, getting the list, 59 found
he has declared war on the teachers' union. I actually understand, I am in disagreement with some of their stands, but he isn't helpiing the problem constructively, he is just cutting wholesale without seeing the damage being done
so sad
ag7? does it build on the 6?
ty monkeys for the ro7
yes add a consonant. i think it might create a dipthong
Feather - add a consonant
(not really sure what a dipthong is... too much wine with dinner tonight)
lol, was just thinking "so THAT'S what a dipthong is"
guess you need to be promoted to first or second grade to learn that!
yup! i barely get into vowels sounds
don't think so, a diphthong is two vowels together
top an5/10?
i'm being super lazy right now with the words
ah well, i knew it was two somethings together!
consonants, vowels, what's the diff?
I have fireworks
you've been hanging out with middle schoolers too long, doren :)
latin plural?
yay wht!
hooray, wht!
yay wht!
whoops, found it!
yes jbc i sure have, and hanging out in the counselor's office and away from classrooms
For a small grid, this had some strange words.
Congrats wht!!!!!
doren, is there suddenly a very high rate of absenteeism in your district?
we're seeing that
teachers are demoralized
I have been given a task by my daughter and I would like to ask my fellow Babblers for th5 advice.
don't know -- I know i haven't taken a single day since i found out i was no longer needed.. and i have taken a total of two days in five years... maybe I should start, but all i know is i have a lot of work to do nd if i'm not there, it's just wron

i've started a project on donorschoose.org, since i'll never have my own funds or budget funds for some of the extras i'd like. i'm not asking you guys to donate yourselves, but if you know of anyone who might want to donate or is looking for a cause, please help spread the word! my link is in my profile.
She is getting married in June and has asked me what song I would like for our dance at the reception. Any thoughts?
smart feather
oh, sunrise, sunset, without a doubt
ah! wht. that is so personal.. what songs resonate with you?
funky chicken?
you need to ask fran!
her hubby is a dj. i'll see if she's around.
That is the problem. I have not been able to think of much. Most of the ones I think of just don't seem appropriate. Or they would be lousy to dance to.
she's not around, but i posted the question on her wall.
what's not appropriate?
My tastes run to folk - and I don't haven't listened to much pop music for years.
some great folks songs - you cold dance to
child of mine is lovely, maybe not the best for dancing....
The lyrics of some of the love songs just don't work with your daughter.
http://www.wedalert.com/songs/fatherda ughter/index.asp
hi...
forever young?
hi red!
(dylan)
ty feather.
wht, you could choose some non verbal music as well...
ooh, through the years, kenny rogers! brings back memories

Instrumentals. I hadn't thought of that.
you are the sunshine of my life, stevie wonder!
what a good list that is
thanks, featherbee, that's a good resource
excellent choices here (babblers are fantastic)
i just googled it
jbv. That one is on my list. In fact Stevie Wonder has a number of possibilities.
it has the one i suggested earlier - sunrise, sunset
saw that
stevie wonder is wonderful for parties
stevie wonder is wonderful, period
he still has a tremendous voice
I was playing some samples from another wedding site earlier. I find I can only do that for a short stretches.
i was listening to him a bit today ruru.
I love his music.
isn't she lovely... isn't she wonderful... isn't she precious...
lallalalallllaalalalalalal. ....
saw him in concert ten years ago... phenomenal. the best was an old song i hadn't known, prior.. "You and I" it is still one of my favorites now... romantic... a good song for bride and groom, not bride and dad
*sqeek*
lol, ru
ruru, you sing like I do.
i really love the CHild of mine song by carole king.... let me see... i used to work for a group that involved a lot of music...
I have a horrible singing voice...
sing on, ruru, we can't hear you....
first fe 5/16 anyone? please?
were you the kid in the back of the choir that the director told to lip synch?
it's sort of a cross between a cat in heat and a frog getting killed on the road.
fe 5/16 - fencing move
fake move in fensing
Dorens it is the fencing move.
Playing a sample of Child of Mine now.
nrkii says "My brother and my niece are dancing to: "My Wish" by Rascal Flats"

Yes, I use a large adult human clipper and do it a little at the time.
*ruru's pedicure and cookie service*
LOL.

no.. not really
is that how you spell that?
Feather - later ga***

Sorry, wrong one.
ga5/20 add a consonant to the ga4 before it.
*scarfs quickly before anyone notices and asks to share8
ga + a babble player

*sweeps up crumbs from below feather*
*grumbles*
crumbs? i don't leave no stinking crumbs! all in the belly!
LOL
sheesh, almost missed my favorite vowel dump
I am unsure of the spelling of the dremel, drummel, dreemelle. Does it make a noise?
it's dremel
ok breaking all rules, going to list at exactly half.way.

ty word please?
fireworks!
yeah weedie
wht, still around? fran says: "Butterfly Kisses" by Robert Carlisle is older, but very literally about a father and daughter at a wedding. It's on the sappier side though. "What a Wonderful World" by Louis Armstrong is a favorite. "The Way You Look Tonight" by Sinatra or updated by Michael Buble is good. (we like the Buble version better, more upbeat) "In My Life" by the Beatles. "Daughter" by Loudon Wainwright III. Cute song, has a very current sound. "Daughters" by John Mayer. Lyrics have a nice message.
congrats featherweed.
Oooh veto butterfly kisses, just gross.
lol
sorry, I am opinionated on that one. it is sooo ick, I can not control myself.

We danced to "What a wonderful world" by Louis Armstrong
June 6
ooh soon!

Yes. It is amazing how close it is. They have been engaged for like 2 and half years, so it has been a long way off for a long time. Now it is almost here.
Where is the wedding going to be? I live near you.
wow some unusual words here.

It is going to be in Barre, MA.

Hello, all!

there is an artist that specilizes in this form of music
I had never even heard of the town, but she found a place there that does weddings in a mansion. The one thing we need is no rain since the wedding will be outside in the garden.

'Night, feather!
Anyone need clues?
Good luck with that! Early June in our area is either incredibly beautiful or horribly horrible. It sounds like a nice place though. I'm sure the weather will be with you.

my son's getting married next week, and i'm dancing with him to "secret o life' by james taylor
my son vetoed anything sappy, but this is a lovely song
congrats j!
Listening to the Wonderful World ukelele. You are right, surprisingly good.
congrats to whoever's getting married!
wonderful world is also a great song but we couldn't figure out how to dance to it!
my hubby danced with his mom to "your mother should know" by the beatles haha
since no one in our family has a clue how to dance, i suggested we pull a few chairs out onto the dance floor and listen to "your mama don't dance and your daddy don't rock & roll"
son laughed, but vetoed the idea!
ugh
heehee
*despises kenny logins*

Hi all, I just discovered that my son was chatting under my name while trying his hand at babble. My apologies if he offended anyone. I explained to him that that was not cool! (But he did enjoy trying to find words, he is a good speller with an awesome vocab.)

I have to teach tomorrow, with my regular mentor teacher away, and I AM TERRIFIED! *whimper*
hi kje and gwen
I got down to 68 earlier. is lickety here?
or I mean do his clues work now?
just watched this week's lost... have mixed feelings
uh oh, how many students??
lickety is working
yep, lickety clues are up!
thanks kje.
well, almost 140 spread over 5 classes, gwen. the sub can take over the classroom management if need be, and will handle discipline... but I have to try to teach. And I am nervous even though the kids like me. First time I will do entire class periods by myself.
you'll be great stid!
I just know it!
give 'em a little rope but do not let them play with the matches LOL
thanks kje. I think I could "wing it" easier than doing a lesson with such a long lead-up time (have known about it and been working on it and the companion lessons for next week since March)
thanks gwen. I like that!
are we talking middle school?
yes, 8th grade. I like the kids, just a little nervous that they won't like creative writing much. *sigh*
is the solo i on the bottom row fishy?
if not, please clue?
i recall being in 8th grade and we gave the sub hell. (not me, of course, but the other kids) 8-)
I LOVED my 7th grade creative writing class... and the teacher!
can't give you any in** on that word, LOL
yep. I am lucky that I am a) not a sub and b) someone they mostly like and respect.
Even the "hard" students generally at least listen politely.
thanks gwen, that greyed the corner tile, now I only need the one next to it.
in5 - ridiculous or simple
oh! got it! "stupid-head" in 5/10 babblet
ah, thanks kje!
oops, try using your in**** intelligence on that one
(wrong word again!) (pay no attention)
oh! down to 54~ and NBT! I can list!!!!
is the AG 6/7 fishy?
no
help please?
ditto that
ag + vowel + *** in hell!
snowball in hell?? lol
7 is ag +vowel + **** IRA
*** in hell... go bad, spoil
thanks! almost done with A words... *thinking*

yay, stid!
wtg stidmama !!! ~~~ !!!
hi all -- did y ou finish jean?
congrats, stid
I had so little "fun" in the class I usually enjoy most... after a hard day yesterday and anticipating (overmuch) tomorrow... and and and *sigh*
hey nan!
it should feel good- it was tough
YAY stid!!! Hi all!
hi jill
What a horrible grid! I have 35 left -- no time today.
I keep thinking I won't quit, but I am so not expecting to be allowed to continue. It's almost becoming a self-fulfulling prophecy (which I know is stupid, but I can't seem to shake it off)
can we help, jill?
I know that feeling jill.
I MUST get my materials organized and pulled together for tomorrow. I will be back ASAP to help you jill.
why wouldn't you be allowed to continue, stid? You're brilliant!
how about the first fe5/16, nan?
make a move in fencing
*or boxing
evasive move
ah, thx nan. I should have seen that but I'm tired.
what have you been doing that you are so tired?
is fo6 a real word?
about as much as go 6, which I don't agree with
UNO
Oh, just going all day -- cleaner and deck-painter here this morning, design work to do, many errands in town, unpacking groceries, getting dinner -- you know.
fo6 is alternate spelling (UK?) for a real word, which is also in grid
spent the day getting planters and pots done
what are you designing?
F ~ I ~ R ~ E ~ W ~ O ~ R ~ K ~ S ~ !!
oh yes, some gardening too...
yay, gwen !*!
YAY gwen!!!
my last word was a 4/4 babblet, but who cares, i finished!!! 8-)
an invitation for a garden party -- doing a tricky collage -- had to make changes, yada yada yada
well i'm off to wordsplay.net for more boggling. bye bye and poink!
which board do you play gwen?
how are you doing, jill?
I get the feeling that maybe I am the only one here -- if you don't need any help, Jill, I'm going to read for a while
down to 27 -- facing ge7/36 and baffled -- help?
do you have the ge 5? -- double the final consonant and add a vowel
Well, never mind, nan -- read and enjoy. What are you reading?
a Tami Hoag mystery
ok, thanks, nan.
I'll stick with you if you are that close -- what do you need?
No really, nan, go and enjoy your book. I just finished that Stieg Larsson one -- The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. Bought the next one in paperback today -- I had to wait months at the library for the first one.
do you have all the 7's?
no -- missing one of them, don't know which. I go through Lickety alphabetically.
ne, ro, te ?
te is the only toughie
I think I got the te...let me look...
yes -- from a clue for stid about the sunk ship
ok -- off to the book -- will come back a few minutes early in case you haven't finished.
I don't have ro7
Thanks, nan :)
plant base + life years
thanks again! Now off you go!
here I am... oh gee Jill -- had no idea it was so late.
Do you still need any help
Hiya again..here for flip
Hi.
* * fireworks * * (thanks to clues, nan, and morewords)
Hi, Grem!
Yay, Jili!
Hi returners :)
brb...
anyone need last minute clues???
Let us all pray that next grid be more um, regular, shall we say...
As in, having more words?
as in, having easier words to find???
Too many ~100 word puzzles lately.
really
argh. had another fire to put out.
YAY jill!
What do u mean, stid?
congrats, jill :)
Hi, Nan!
hi jeannie -- I take it that you finished?
Oh, yes!!!! SamJoy cued me to the end!!! LOL!
You have to admire that!
3 minutes left....
Ha, I knew it. It DOES skip "2 minutes left".
I thought I noticed that before.
Does it???
Yeah.
Huh.
"1 minute left" means 1-2 minutes.
"3 minutes left" means 2-3 minutes left, apparently.
