NP
Morning/evening babbleland. sprite is going to 'love' all those k's!
Good morning, FM.
toooooo many k's!
Greetings Haz!
I can't say my heart rejoiced when I saw them.
Good morning, Ata!
I have finally vanquished them.
too much IOIOIOIOIO
phantom: amniote
Hi everyone on this lovely sunny morning. Hmm, haven't started the Ks yet.
Hello, gremlinn. It would be even worse if it were eieieo and then we'd all be singing Old McDonald.
lol gremlinn and Hi Ata!!!! and Sally!
FM! Haz in training! La Glitteratenilla in training!
And Mr Haz is training as well!
oh! Mr Haz too!
Thankfully he doesn't ride a bike and shout at me through a megaphone, that would be off-putting in the extreme.
Oh great, well done to MrH too. Trust he won't be wearing a pink bra though?
No, and nor will I! He's not necessarily doing the walk itself, but is helping me out when he can with company.
and one of those weird coincidences - mum have to have a mammogram the other day after finding a lump and most likely will need a mastectomy
Oh, Ata!
Oh no Ata!!
so sorry to hear that hun.
Oh I'm so sorry Ata!
it's strangely ok as she's always had problems with getting benign lumps and I think she's rather glad in a strange way to be able to have the op and stop all that
Even so, it's not something you really want to go through.
nooooooooo
the funny thing she'll probably end up in hospital at the same time sister is having her op, and hopefullyy the same hospital
I hope, hope, hope that all turns out okay.
If that does happen, Ata, they might as well just make a room for you and Hobbit.
if not at the same hospital then at hospitals 10 miles apart which still isn't too bad
I'm sure the sight of Hobbit would cure anyone!
will make visiting easier *wry smile*
hello
Hows the leg coming along by the way Ata?
apart from the poor man who was quietly sunbathing yesterday on the beach that hobbit ran up to and sat on, while soaking wet
Hello, herin.
Evening herin. LOL Ata!
She could probably tell that he was burning and that cold needed to be applied. Hobbit is smart.
getting there slowly ;)
splutter, ata. I hope you didn't laugh openly :-)
Awww Ata. Too cute. Sorry about your Mum she will spring back. Best thing I heard about reconstruction from my cousin was she got new boobs and a flatter butt and belly
not *quite*
good morning everybody
Good morning, ruby.
I apologised profusely then walked off very quickly giggling madly
Morning ruby.
Hi ruby.
Hobbit was just being her friendly self (wet and all)!
How could you be mad at a cute dog. I would be like orff get off me. now were is your ball
Exactly, she was just being a cold compress.
she was! I just don't think he was a doggy person ... *giggles again at the recollection*
How was she to know the man was sunbathing? She probably thought he needed help and was showing him to you.
Bad Hobbit Bad Hobbit (Good Girl go sit on the man that doesn't like dogs)
would quite happily hug a wet dog right now as the thermometer is rising.
If he was a nice man you could have said "fetch"!
ata: I'm sorry to hear about your mom, but as an almost-s0-year survivor of the same thing, I wish her very well and give her some of my hope and optimism!
that was 20*
and the other funny thing is that she's obviously got into her head that if I sit down while out on a walk it means I'm Injured, cos I sat down and couldn't move when I hurt my knee. So I sat down on the beach yesterdya thinking I'd read for a bit and let Hobbit snuffle about. Oh no. She sat bolt upright on my outstretched thighs and glared at anyone or any dog that came close
Awwwww bless her Ata
I don't think Hobbit is part chow!
Oh, sweet!
Good job she isn't a Great Dane doing that, though, or you'd be back in hospital with crushed thighs.
LOL Sally
bad enough with her! she's very very solid
Hobbit is solid but still quite petite.
how much does she weigh?
yes, but she's distinctly heavier than she looks! about 18kg
but so**ing wet, probably weighs more
O Hi Ruby
This question always interests me. Americans always seem to know and quote the weight of their dogs - I don't think Brits know.
My cats weigh 5 -6 kilos respectively
Hi All
Good evening, lynxxx.
here, every time you go to the vet, the virst thing he does is weigh the dog! maybe because of the meds?
are you saying i'm secretly american?
hello lynxxxx
Hi Lynxx on this bleak winters day
Ha! spotted the god of love without prompting - that must be a first!
I haven't a clue how much mine weigh. Not a lot would be the technical answer.
Evening lynxxx.
Here you weigh a pet as soon as you enter the vets office - so than can work out any medication I guess
Mine get weighed once a year so I can worm them properly for the year
No, Ata, although you may have been influenced by summers spent over there. It's just something I've noticed (the weight quoting thing)
I had a cat once who weighed a stone+a kilo
Yes, with certain meds they go on the weight and we have weighed them in the past for that.
Ruby same as mine
A stone plus a kilo? That's a nice mix of metric and imperial measurements ruby!
and she used to sleep on my chest and purr and knead
awwww
Clarissa Reed Fitzrour Kelley
K's done
wtg herin! BRB got 5 words left to find.
you're kidding, herin!
104 to find here :-(
I used Morewords after 6 of them my brain stopped working
Have we noticed that jillibus'and flosey's bridge partner is here? Mr Sharif?
Oh, no I hadn'. ty
and so is a real life dragon
He's strangely unacceptable to enable.
yes, just realised :-)
perhaps enable doesn't play bridge
as is the dragon, sadly
named for a scientiest maybe? well soon have an ata dragonfly!
Most provoking!
named for where it lives :)
ahah
... and done, silly re words were my final hurdle.
Well done, FM!
woot
Clever FM!
Thank you, thank you :)
Yay for FM!
woohooooo FM!
yay for FM
and the ar6/30 led me a merry dance until I looked at gremlinns list.
aras
whoops, sorry
Just found the lovely fi 7/60 by trying a word I didn't think it would take :-)
think that has double R, ruby
back soon
I was thinking of the constellation....
Todays grid has some lovely babblets in it and the rest the monkeys took care of.
monkeys are desperate
Think I have all the As. Need a particular clue?
*passes some bananas over to ruby for the monkeys*
I don't like monkeys. I have tapirs instead
I think they still like bananas thouhg
How can they type for you Ata, given the lenght of their claws?
I once did a drawing of a tapir
bananas with ants on top
oops sorry thinking of wrong animal there.
with their prehensile noses
LOL
great image!
we have tapirs locally
or should I say typirs?
all that gunk over the keyboard must make a mess.
my husband is walking around the garden with his rifle! I had better be nice.....
Is he heron hunting?
monkeys are messier
yes, he's obsessed!
A farmer friend of mine shot a fox on his land once, only to find he had also shot one of his hens. Tell husband not to aim at the fish!
at least it keeps him out of your hair for a whiel
Can't blame him after the loss of so many fish.
can just imagine the headlines "local heron population in mysterious crash"
The headline in the Ballymoney Times a few weeks ago was 'Pigeon Poisoned'. It was a slow news week.
wonder if heron tastes good
oh dear LMAO
aha! I have the great cook herself here ....
Haz, what should I make with some pheasant eggs?
heron stuffed with koi - could be a good recepie.
Scotch eggs
I have no idea about pheasant eggs. What sort of size are they?
about 2/3 chicken size
they had some down at the farm shop and I simply had to get some, now of course I have no clue what to do wit hthem
dainty egg and soldiers?
Egg mayonnaise?
or use them in a salad nicoise
last time i had them i poached 1 and fried 1 just to see whjat they are like
morning all
Put them in a salad, Ata
Good morning sandr.
heya mitch hows it going
Good morning, sandr.
good and nice to see you again!
Google says that their yolk tastes richer than a chicken egg.
hiya haz
and what were they like???
ooh that would make a good mayo then, turn it into aioli by adding loads of garlic.
yeh its a much stronger taste but worth it you get your moneys worth id recommend them to anyone but its big breakfast,i think they might go well in a cake to!!!
How many did you get, Ata?
6
scrabmled eggs and pancetta for a Sunday treat?
1 poached 1 fried 2 for a cake and 2 for mayo problem solved
Oh well, you're not going to have too much difficulty finding something.
Scrambled eggs and smoked salmon?
oooo smoked salmon!
Babblers just love thier food don't they?
Or I love scrambled eggs with mushrooms cooked in a little butter and stirred in.
Don't you realise that this is displacement therapy? Play Babble instead of eating.
this is always the best place to ask food questions!
i put harrisa in mine i got it from tunisia
Nah, babble and eating at the same time is the best :)
I think I should get some free. Whichever flock of pheasants they came from, Hobbit is bound to have spent at least a few hours chasing them - like Mr Haz shouting encouragement at Haz. Training them
right guys im going to get my head shaved then round leeds tonight so speak again sometime bye!!
apparently the collective noun for a flushed group of pheasants is a bouquet
I draw the line at the loud-hailer, though.
a boquet of pheasants - well you live and learn.
Bye sandr (hoping that it's the r who's getting the head shaved)
of course haz
Bye sandr
Excellent! Nice to see you again.
bbbbyyyyyyyyyyyyyeeeeeeeeeee *poof*
and of course all babblers should know the term for a group of pheasants while on the ground ...
Is Dead Meat.
are pheasant eggs bigger than hen's eggs? ex-city girl here....
loool
lol
a flush?
np pheasants here
it's a babblet! ni4 :)
no*
no, ruby, a bit smaller
colored?
I've got one of those Shott's Miscellany books, they're great for odd facts.
rather beigey-khaki coloured
I love quail eggs especially raw in sushi
and we just thought you were really clever Haz.
there is a pic on my FB, ruby
all the facts at haz' fingertips!!
anyway, it's nye or nide
A nye of pheasants?
You are giving your secrets away!
It's a nye according to Shott's.
Between Shott's and Google I can fool people into thinking I know stuff.
it's nide according to dictionary.com
so I'm assuming both are accaptable
and now you'll know next time it's in Babble
I'd assume so.
ruby, if more than one heron turned up it would be a sege.
of course we will remember that for next time :)
And I love an exaltation of larks.
oh yes, me too
I think it's the same one; I think they are solitary most of the time and he's unlikely to tell his mates about the great resto!
and a murder of crows
I think that one is so approriate Haz.
Ptarmigan. Any takers?
that's my favorite!
a party?
a new type of cheese?
A covey.
a ptarmy?
I like a murmuration of starlings!
Yes, and a pontification of priests.
and a clowder of cats
That sounds too much like soup, Ata.
lol, haz!
What do we think is the collective noun for Babblers.
eeew
uh oh....
a thesaurus
lol, you mean you know what all these words mean?
A madness of babblers
A bevy
A babblet of babblers
An enablement of babblers
a babylon of
A great group of people :)
A disillusionment of babblers
a gridlock of
A cooperative of babblers?
Ah! A brick wall of babblers!
a chattiness
An enhancement of....
a listing of
a kennel of
A harmony of babblers except when there's a row brewing.
A harmonly - I like that.
as long as we stay off politics
a tower of
a cluttering of
best one, lynxx!!
lol Ata
A discombobulation of babblers
lynx wins
cluttering is very good
yay lynxx!
I like lynxxx's best
morning all
We need ruru here to conduct the vote.
hi Sprite
Good morning, sprite.
aaah, sprite can decide; she's the smartest!
Good morning spritey sprite - welcome to the ks :)
Hi sprite. You'll be delighted to see there are 16 K words.
we're suggesting collective nouns for babblers - read back
hi spritey!
I have 2 minutes for sprite's decision!!! :(
oh dear, Ks! And a vote! *Kicks mind in gear*
Are we allowed to lobby? Or offer bribes?
*passes coffee to sprite*
bribes! French chocolate?
Brings footstool for sprite
always, Haz
and pool boy
I do like the tower of babblers... calls babylon to mind without saying it out loud.
Is that how you describe your husband, ruby?
I can get you George Clooney!
basin-boy! lol
oooo pool boy, yummy. Chocolate!
I don't want to shock you, Haz, but that would not work in my case...
somebody tell me Sprite's decision later, pls, the man with the rifle wants his apero!
But Babylon and the Tower of Babel were different.
I have the ultimate card - the PB with fully stocked cupboards and the cabana boys.
(Rethinking bribe strategy)
((everybody))
bfn, rubyfoo, and your son's CD arrived safely.
Haz, you are so right. I need that coffee. I meant the tower of babel, of course. *Drags mind from the gutter*
Bye ruby. Slip a sedative into the drink, that'll calm him down.
and we can throw in pond-boy. Oh, good, sprite, I hope you like it! *poof*
FM, that is heaven :)
A tower of babblers is good - it speaks of strength, cooperation and building on each other's knowledge.
FM is cheating, for sure.
I also like the harmony, but always harmony might get boring, and not a chance of that happening in babble anyway. So how about throwing in the occasional dissonant to make it spicier and call it a symphony?
But harmony doesn't consist of the same note - it's tones of notes that work together.
that is so beautifully put, Haz. My final vote is for Tower of Babblers.
I'm visualising a singing tower. Anybody remember the Singing Ringing tree from Tales of Europe?
morning everyone
I would go for a symphony rather than a tower as that intimates that someone is at the top.
Good morning, Katie.
morning Katie. Did you have a good birthday?
I do Haz! Morning Katie.
but symphonies always have conductors
That programme scared me and fascinated me all at the same time.
You can have a norman tower, that doesn't have a point at the top
true, FM, we should visualise a flowing tower, always moving and bringing eachother to the top.
well that is Dr_Gs role then Ata
a lovely day thanks sprite :-)
Ata, could that be DrG?
hi Katie
wonderful, Katie!
well then DrG can be at the top of the tower!
he should be the foundation, I think
Maybe it'll be a one-storey tower with a very wide base.
lol Haz
In other words babble has just moved in4 a bungalow.
Where's lynxxx, she needs to be the final say on this. What was your thinking behind the tower? A 3000 word essay in the next ten minutes, please.
I think this tower could reach to the skies as long as we don't bother about who is on top at any time. Just building together, making it sturdy and steady and wonderful
and toowers are good cos we can throw people we don't like off the top
I want to build out lateraly
Ata! And pour boiling oil on top of their heads?
So we'll need a moat and a drawbridge, Ata
quite probable
probably!
got to think of the practicalities!!
boiling oil, that is not babbly. Molten chocolate?
chocolate covered cabana boys :)
(can I say I only have 2 K words so far and cannot imagine this darn K producing any more? Let alone 16?)
We can fill the moat with orcas
and inia
PB Ata!
and have trained anoa pulling the drawbridge up and down
not my fault. I blame FM
but if we did molten chocolate no one would want to be in the tower we would all be attacking it
And nenes swimming on the water
I don't think so!
it is lovely to have you around again, Ata! Missed you in chat.
exactly, katie ;)
it would depend on who was chocolate coated. I love my chocolate as much as any girl, but there are people I wouldn't want to lick it from.
*pushes Ata in4 the PB*
chocloate covered john prescotts then
eeeeew
Eeeeeewwww.
eeeew!
ugggg
All sticking to his ermine and his coronet.
see? I go back to boiling oil. much better :P
No point starting up a John Prescott fan club among babblers, I see.
ok, keep this on, it might cure me from chocolate cravings
have I got news for you was sooooo wonderful this week
I didn't see it - wasn't he the guest host? I must watch the extended version.
When John Prescott's affair was made public, I remember hearing a joke which was that making love to JP would be like having a wardrobe falling on you with the key still in the lock.
he was. and Ian HIslop laid into him so so SO much. it was absolutely brilliant
Oh willl have to go t iPlayer for that gem.
lol Sally
Oh, I must see it. He was either very brave or very stupid to agree to do it.
Sally!
and there was one moment where you could just see Prescott was sooo nearly going to just smack him but managed not to
lmao sally
it was like 30 minutes of Ian Hislop saying everything he'd ever wanted to say to Prescott but couldn't while he was in government
Must watch it on iPlayer.
noooo really?
oh yes, really worth it
Didn't he know what was in store for him? Did he not watch the programme?
I am going to have to go watch that now - TTFN and I also have things to do so back later.
bye FM, have a lovely day!
he came out of it ok. but just about ok. you could tell he was reading a lot of scripted stuff making gentle fun of himself. but Ian HIslop just laid in to him freom beginning to end
See you, FM. Apparently he twittered or tweeted that his stuff was scripted but the rest was pure ad-lib.
bye FM
bye FM
it was very very clear his stuff was scripted!
bye FM x
I think he must have seen Lembit Opek on there a few weeks ago, and Lembit came out of the whole thing brilliantly. He was really funny and very self-deprecating
So, that's definitely one for the must watch list. I suppose it was obvious it was scripted if it made sense. His normal English is incomprehensible.
and he just simply read off the cards LOL. no attempt to try and look likehe wasn't
I'm going to be good and get ready to go out shopping. Ugh and double ugh but people here insist on eating. Bye for now and I'll be back later. Toodle-oo!
bye dear! and bye FM too!
good luck, Haz, may the stores make a smooth path for you ;)
*gone* Bye!
been shopping already - be brave Haz!!
bye Haz
bye for now Haz
Ata, how is the email backlog coming along?
being complicated by the fact I have a new laptop and I can't get my email on it!! So I had to set up a new gmail account and then I forget I have tonnes of mail on my old lappy!
ah! Shall I resend my stuff to your new addy?
yes pls!!!! elegaer@gmail.com
I'm still hopinh to get my normal one back working which is why I havent told anyone I'm switching email yet
it is always frustrating, juggling with different computers and addies, I know
it really is!

oh how lovely! He is so beautiful, isn't he :)
Bye. Giving up for tonight and watching Happy Feet. Have a good day Sprite and Ata and Sally

149, lkdubb
16 of which are Ks
Sprite I just got your email and of course.

Hi sprite. How are you? And hi Sally, Nono, herin. Has anyone posted a list today? I couldn't finish yesterday's due to lack of list!

hello hydra
Gremlinn's profile has a list hydra
gremlinn has posted a list in profile
hi hydra! Glad to see you. You might try the profile of gremlinn.
You will need it for the K words!!
Thanks, Sally. I'll take a peek. I have only found one k word!
Make that 3.
yay hydra, you are on a roll!
you tease, sprite :-)
Lots of other words also use the K
*grins* I? Never.
but all meant well, hydra knows :)
Tee-hee.
we go back a long time, don't we hydra? How've you been?
Hi Hydra
Yes we do, sprite. And herin too! I'm fine thanks. House-unting.
exciting! Hope you'll find the perfect place.
Hydra you moving?
Good luck with that hydra. Staying in London?
FireFlies! Anything I can help with before I go?
Not exciting when you haven't enough money for what you really want. I can't stay on at my partner's cos I've been paying £2oo a month to the storage company for the last 7 years. Do the math! Yes, staying in London. I want a place near my friends, but close enough to see Mr Grumpy at weekends. I don't drive, so it's all down to public transport.
Well done sprite! No thanks, will plod on - 15 to find.
Well done, sprite!!!
thanks! And go Sally, so close.
congrats Sprite!
not really fun then, hydra. But still - I will hope you will find the perfect place. For a low rent.
I have 104 to find :-(
Hydra why don't you live together with your stuff?
No room in his house!
have 46 left but I'll find them eventually
go Nanette :)
I had a whole house-worth of furniture, loads of books and paintings. He had his own stuff. No room to combine.
ok I am off then, have fun, and it was great seeing you all.
By sprite. Have a great weekend.
take care Sprite have a great day
Can you not get something bigger between you?
Loves Sprite
He doesn't want to move. He's happily settled, in an area I hate! 25 miles from anyone I know, and an hour and a half to 2 hours on buses and trains. I haven't been out in months!
Oh hydra, that's sad.
Damn Hydra
Is any one here?
Yes, but was concentrating on last few words. Have fireworks at long last.
Any clues needed?
Not I. I am about ot go yell at my neighbour
Must be off, then. *gone*
Sorry, had to go cos my mobile rang and it was downstairs. Bye Sally. What you yelling about, herin?
My over 50 neighbours are having a party. We are on speaking terms with them I am a lot pissed they didn't tell us.
Not surprised. That's damn unneighbourly!
And then one of the guests answered the door and was a total air head. I could have slapped her.
What are you going to do?
I think they turned it down. It is fairly crapy when you live in a brick house and can hear them
There is a stretch of cars down the road. I am liking your middle of no where idea at the moment
I have had that problem almost everywhere I've lived. except here at my partner's, which is detached. But two doors away there are teenage kids who are always having loud parties so you can't leave the windows open at night. I am a quietness freak. My sister lives surrounded by mountains - then the RAF ruin the silence with low-flying exercises!
the Raf are noisy
I have put in an offer for a ground floor flat. But if I can hear too much noise from upstairs, I shall do it up and re-sell it!
Must go. Hoe you get some sleep tonight!!!
They turned it down thank goods
the left side of the grid is Ok, but the right side...
You are right Kaplan
So let's just cut this in half, get 75 words and call it a day.
Fair call
I have 83. Let me go light a firecracker.
just read back a little...I always invite my downstairs neighbours to any parties we have here. Otherwise they complain like crazy...they are allergic to noise, apparently.
Nancy hun. See the thing is politeness. You tell them instead of being rude and then having an idiot guest to answer the door. I just have a head ache that is the thing
sometimes these things get out of hand, though, I guess. how old are your neighbours?
Over 50
That is the funny thing. this woman that answered the door was at least over 40
haha! good for them. I hope I'm still partying when I'm 50.
IT is a rare occurrence. There is the whole street with cars. I couldn't care less but right now headache from hell
I think I am just annoyed with the lack of ding dong we are having a party
finito
hello all, good morning from Texas
Hi all! Nancy Boy you should have seen the party I had for my 60th in March - lasted a week!!
hello agian babblers
How many words today please?
149 Mudd
*wakes up* serious, JFB? That's awesome!
ty
16 of whick are k's!
Good Morning all - just got home from baseball field - cancelled game due to thunder storm/rain
hi, Mom! :)
hi Mom
high school ball Mom?
u13 babe ruth
ahhhh yes forgot they are still playing too
8 am games every Saturday
Yup, serious NB - it was great!
I wish my old school had cancelled football (soccer) games when it rained. Messy!
thats a big league, how many teams?
well then I'm in awe of you JFB - longest I've gone on without sleeping is a 50-hour bash...I looked like a zombie at the end of that, though
there are 5 teams in our division - furthest is an hour away - luckily today it was the next town over so not a big deal driving out there
Oh at my advanced age I had to sleep - then party on!!
that would have been the wise choice, but if I'd slept I might have missed something - something I was not prepared to do! ;)
I keep getting red boxes today - must be the electrical storms in the area messing up the internet
Us OAPs have to risk it!
glad it wasnt any further I would have been miffed to drive that far and have the game cancelled
one Dad was mad - yelled at the other coach - I couldnt believe it - bad example for the kids
lol! we should all try and do what Kate Moss does - stay awake partying for however many hours you are old! 20 for me next birthday...easy ;)
lol! we should all try and do what Kate Moss does - stay awake partying for however many hours you are old! 20 for me next birthday...easy ;)
ooh, there's an echo. Do excuse me :)
C u all later
It is usually the parents that set the bad examples like that. It's unfortunate. Then the rest of the parents have to do some damage control with their won kids
bye JFB
very true
Used to be quite involved with the local Little League and Babe Ruth Leagues and have seen some pretty messy situations over the years
my kids have always been active in the local recreational league - baseball, softball, soccer, basketball - it all about having fun. Some parents take it so seriously. My kids play school sports too - that is a different situation altogether.
yes it is. school sports coaches can be real jerks at times. My son is an umpire for high school baseball and he tells me sore horific stories about coaches
he ejected one coach from a game, which means they must sit out the next game as well. The infraction was so bad the school imposed further sanctions on him
LOL- can't believe enable took that pi5
yikes - this past indoor soccer season - an opposing coach got thrown out - at first he wouldnt leave so the ref had to threaten ejecting the team - coach finally left
must have been written in the 50s
I am finding this to be a tough puzzle
it is a very challenging grid
I am only 68 in, so OK so far... I'm sure there is a wall waiting for me however
i got to around 100 and then it really slowed down
I only have 52 so far - do we know if there is a list today - I dont want to look yet
ok... thanks for telling me where the wall lies - LOL
there is one in gremlinn's profile
just like yesterday - that god for gremlinn
yes gremlinn always seems to have a list posted if Lickety isn't there
i do hate k words though... 16? really? hmmmm
yes 16 and most of them rather strange
oh great - monkeys best start warming up
yes monkies definitely needed for the k's
yay FIREWORKS!
yay Nono
woohooooooooo nono!!!!
guess i better get something productive done now :(
happy babbling everyone
have a great day Nono
yep - nono is correct... there is the wall about 100 in....
can't go under it.... can't go through it.... can't go over it.... have to go around it....
LOL - where is weed... channeling my inner kindergartner
oh, wow. I love your picture, Kje! Crazy
thanks - I took it in SF at the Chihuly exhibit
it's sooo trippy!
it was called something forrest - i foret now
if you ever get a chance to see his work, take it, it is gorgeous
looks it! reminds me of some times at some festivals...but enough of that. I'd better go for a run!
enjoy your run
name that proper noun! husband of Mindy
mork
ding ding ding!

cute pic, dan2!
thanks kje - I should probably pick a newer one
sleep deprived yet?
for 7's i have pi and ti, which rhyme. anyone got others?
I was sleep deprived before :-) it all seems to hinge on whether I can manage a "daddy nap" in the afternoon
thats all I have too
I'm not due back to work for 3 more weeks - seniority rocks!
that's all i have
wow! great paternity leave! that is wonderful dan2
my friend at work had her baby last spring and her husband had a better paternity leave deal at his job than she had for maternity leave at ours!
hi all again - any clues for the ko 5/18 that isnt the plural?
no idea - i hate the k's
my company only gives 2 weeks "new parent leave" but I tacked on a bunch of accumulated vacation. mrs2bit had to use all her vacation and then go on "short term disability" and then (if she wants to) unpaid leave
don't have it - but thanks for the clue that there are ko5/18s and one's a plural! got two words there.
ko5/18-ko _ sun god + vowel
woohoo for scribe!
hooray for scribe - fireworks for me
i just monkeyed it-pure luck
in denmark... they get 1 year maternity and paternity that they can use any way they want up until the kid turns 12
government here gives mom a year and dad i think almost the same
congrats Kazzer
woohoo kazzer
woo hoo Kaz
Mom!
ty scribe
yes most US companies very skimpy for new babies
mine has nada - just mind boggling to me... they must use their vaca
thank u all We get up to 12 months for our job and chaps can have2 weeks paternity leave
to me that's very cheesy of the government there
most US companies very stingy about everything...
manditory here
Beautiful Baby Dan
thank you Kazz - I rather fancy her myself :-)
yes, but you canadians probably have a spirit of law-abiding. if the gov't made it mandatory here, they companies would do it but find a way to lay the women off completely through some loophole...
LOL! now THAT is an understatement
i am about to go off somewhere as my poor hubby has just gone into terminal meltdown - washing machine is still playing up.
i am about to go off somewhere as my poor hubby has just gone into terminal meltdown - washing machine is still playing up.
(here= USA, i'm only a wannabe brit)
now that's sad
man came and fixed the pump but now it switches off when it tries to do anything at all
the understatement is in re: to dan2's statement
see you all soon byeee
must run... bbl
when I worked at P&G 26 years ago, we had one week before the delivery date and six weeks after with pay, up to 6 months without pay before you would lose your position
and good morning everyone
Hi (((Mom)))
{{Annie}} good morning!
every day around the world they petting the cute kittencats
who has today's list?
gremlinn
ty
name that proper noun...playwright Garson *****
hi
hello herin
good morning friends, and POUNCE herin!
hi trif
{{Herin}} hello
Hi Trif
off I go .... younger son coming over today. :-)
bye Mom, have a wonderful day
I had tertiare take a lovely photo of me babbling en plein air yesterday, but I need secondo to help me load it on here, and she won't be out of her crypt for at least another hour.....c'est dommage!
bye mom!
thank you, Annie, hope your day is lovely. {{hugs}}
bye Trif
annie, what's the playwright's name? I can't guess....
Garson Kanin
we fail :(
alas
well done you!!!
the only garson i could think of at all was greer garson
lol me too!
Kanin was the husband of the actress who played in Rosemary's Baby. She played the witch who was the head of the coven--I cant think of her name..Ruth ????
gordon
thanks!!! that would have hounded me all day
she will always be Maude to me....
as in Harold and Maude, to clarify
I loved her and her gravelly voice
that scene where they are in the daisy field makes me cry, every time....
Good morning Babble Buddies!
Hello dear Scrabbs
I have been so busy that I have not been here in 3 or 4 days. I missed my buddies.
trif, I never saw Harold and Maude..now I must get it on Netflix
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h0FX_RO cNV4 here, enjoy.....
Scrabbs, work related?
it only takes a minute, and it is COMPLETELY worth it. there more truth in the one line she says about daisies than I don't know what.....
fi7 compound word - what you might have if a fish slapped you
hey scrabbs, you were missed!
Yes, and a dentist appt, volunteering, etc
TY, Dan!
trif, I cant open those when I am babbling, dont know how..but copied down address and will open it later. thanks
brb - kiddos
Trif, what kind of art does Tristan do? Does he want to study art in college?
i don't get why that fi7 works but when i earlier tried that with a P, which seems much more sensible, that didn't go.
bless you, dan
and a great clue
Hi Hursh
Phantoms = inion + anion
Of course, I had to try pinmark
there is another pi7 still eludes me - I have the plural that rhymes with the ti7
commies
there are two spellings of the plural
thanks hurshy, 7's done
aha tx
Anybody watching the French Open Women's Finals on NBC?
no, i am in the bedroom, tv in the livingroom
scrabbler, he is working in all mediums at the moment, as he is in an accelerated program and they cover all sorts of stuff. we are thinking that question over a lot. He knows he wants art in his life, but we don't know if what form
and please, with the greatest respect and love -- he is primo in the chog....
Oops, sorry, I didn't even realize I did that. My friend's daughter majored in art at Carnegie-Mellon Univ. The challenge is earning an income as an artist.
I absolutely agree! he has NO desire to be the enfant terrible of the Soho art scene, or something like that. Will it be design? architecture? graphics? landscape architecture? illustration? education? there are so many ways to work in art....
I feel another challenge is to get him to look at a variety of colleges, with more offerings than just a strict art curriculum...
Yes, that visual-spatial gift can be used in so many areas.
Does he want to stay in Boston? New England?
I know he would do better at a small college v. a large university, but which one? a straight art school, or a college?
BRB, I hear critters on front deck. Raccoons ravaged things overnight and they better not be back.
How many words today?
149
I don't seem to be able to get him to look at schools aoutside of New england
Thanks.
Trif - check out Chester College in NH
will do!!! thanks!
I discovered a posse of 4 grey squirrels searching for sunflower seeds that fall under the birdfeeders. Maybe I falsely accused the raccoons.
specializes in the fine art - very small - lot of one on one - my daughter is interested
I wouldn't want to leave New England either.
he's lucky to have a mom who thinks about college as a step towards the rest of life, rather than an end in itself...
tuition is about 27,000
perhaps they are disguised, scrabbler? ha ha ha
With skyrocketing tuitions in private schools it is tough to choose a major one in interested in, e.g. history, vs a major that will help one get an intact career. Education vs vocation.
Good morning, can we go over the 7's again, I have the fi7, there is one pi7 and a ti7 which am I missing, please?
it doesn't help when the student has undiagnosed generalized anxiety disorder being hidden and repressed vigorously.
I agree scrabbler. Everyone keeps telling us to "pick the college you want, and the money will follow" which is the same thing I have heard about careers, but to be honest, you can't prove it by me
A chair was overturned, a plant stand and potted plant were knocked over, the watering jug was knocked over, my newly planted hostas next to the deck were stomped on. I guess that a posse of big grey squirrels can do that.
I know - we have one year of high school left - I'm scared. My daughter is interested in the Arts as well but leaning towards photography/photo journalism.
wait, hurshy - do you know primo? you just described him to a tee!!!!
Hi Marc, and MNH I never greeted you
that is SO RUDE scrabbler! Herons are the same way in ponds....if they are gonna eat like pigs the LEAST they can do is tidy up after!
((hurshy))....or depression and being pushed toward med school...
Hi Scrabbs - I have been sort of lurking - should actually be doing chores
that was me. but my mom just felt education was worthwhile for its own sake and didn't offer any guidance beyond that. so, my life is basically being wasted.
I should post a photo of Primo's latest art assignment -- it made me roll, it's so funny! They had to do a book cover, and he did a comic book front for a character he invented called "commander commando" ---it's pretty damn hilarious
how many words today?
it's YOUR life now, hurshy! if you think it's being wasted, YOU can change it!
149
work life - unsatisfactory personal life - unsatisfactory
proper noun ko6 lizard
hurshy, we are each works in progress! Your life is not being wasted--everything you do is helping you learn about yourself and life.
thanks
Education is not the key, happiness is the key. If you are happy and find bliss in what you are spending your time doing then all else doesn't matter.
I tried that too, dan! :)
actually i can't, trif, not for another 3-5 years. my husband is currently doing his PhD. when he's done and gets a real job, then maybe i can make a change.
So Hurshy, you need to create the life you want and discover happiness. It will take baby steps.
small changes can be accomplished now, hurshy -- the tiniest step in the direction of your souls' bliss will bring instant relief
hurshy, where are your passions, what brings you bliss?
uh, look guys, i've tried, really. i'm just stuck for now. better to just accept it.
i haven't got passions.
Are you seeing a therapist to discuss your life?
no. i did that for three years and got the anxiety sorted but it didn't help with the rest.
that is one frustration I have with that whole "do what you love and the money will follow" == have yet to find a way to get paid to babble!
Lack of passion suggests to me that you have dysthymia +/or depression.
No interest, some things that just come easy for you? Go out and get a book written by two friends of mine called the Passion Test, Chris and Janet Atwood.
yes, i have had dysthymia since at least around when i started kindergarten.
Me too, but you must challenge the negative thinking.
hurshy, you are intelligent...write your own book
Hi all. Someone describe passion for me. I'm not really sure what you mean.
lots of things just come easy for me...
it's easier for people who are only good at one thing.
wait, enable takes the pig noise, but not one who does it?
Hi Ou + gramma
i'm going back to sudoku
I have three suggestions that I know work, get the book Passion Test, start doing yoga, the physical movement will help you and go to lecture on Transcendental Meditation. What city do you live it?
Hurshy, you are only 32, you have lots to figure out still.
hello gramma. I think of a passion as a love you have for something - something that lights you up, makes you feel alive, something that you NEVER have to be "made" to do, but that you can't wait to do
phantom: mania
Great description, Trif.
Finally, sunshine after over 12 hrs of rain.
take babble for example -- I never feel it's a drudge to start a new grid. I look forward to the new challenge each day brings, and can't wait to see who is in the chog, what the count is, etc. NOW -- if only I could get paid to do it!
Trif, I'm going to think about that. My passion is ???
I agree, Trif.
Oh, okay. I was looking for something deeper. Silly me. Of course I have passion.
something particular to women though -- studies have shown that if a woman does have a passion -- I will use babble in this example -- and then she gets paid to do it, it becomes a huge buzzkill. Women tend to start to have anxiety about the things they once loved, because they begin to feel layers of expectation that were not there before.
I love to play cards. But I Will Not play for money. It wrecks it for me.
Did we push Hurshy off the grid?
Yes
I think she has retreated.
now me too. BBL
I hope we did not make her feel badly.
they studied expert quilters, knitters, seamstresses, artists, gardeners, child care providers, etc. When the women were doing it because they loved it and were good at it, all was well. When they started to get PAID to do these things, the joy got sucked right out, as they women began to worry over how good they were doing, if it was good enough, would the "boss" be pleased, etc.
red boxes again - internet is crazy today
Sometimes I think people want to talk but not necessarily be advised. Not all problems can be fixed.
But I may be putting words in her mouth.
Hi Haz.
Hello
Hi Herin
I can't remember what the takeaway was....not that women should not be business owners, etc., but that societal expectations have put layers on women that make them focused outside themselves, i.e., the women stopped finding joy in what they were doing because it was no longer enough that THEY were happy with their output, but that someone else had to approve it. does that make sense?
All my kids are around her age and I know what she is going through. There are things that can help but time is the best healer unfortunately.
Hello to all!
hello Haz
Good morning; is it my imagination or is the grid today a bit of a challenge?
Hi. Trifs I see your son wants my hallway
You are not imagining anything, Mudd.
huh?
You seen my FB pics?
yes, but I didn't see a comment from Primo?
did he like it?
http://tinyurl.com/2cakzdd This one He likes it. Here everyone is my new hall
OH, I see - inside the photo comments! yes, he would enjoy that....I need to put up a photo of his latest art project...
You make sense, Trif! I had to long ago give up my idealistic dream of being the "perfect" pediatrician because so many parents have no interest in hearing about raising healthy, safe, respectful, responsible kids.
I believe that may be the first time in my entire life, scrabbler, where it has been suggested that I "make sense!" so thanks!!! ha ha ha ha
scrabbler - makes me think of a blog I've been getting a kick out of as a new dad: adequateparenting.com
Pokes Hurshy and Gives her a hug.
e.g. you don't have to get the $1200 stroller for your kid to turn out ok
dan2, bookmark amalah.com as well - that woman ROCKS
arles
trif - will check it out thanks
But Dan it is vital to the child to wrap them in cotton wool keep them away from dirt and make you feel shitty for not being right to your self
oops
LOL dan! we often say "we would LOVE to offer you the UN seat, ms. secondo, but we see you (fill in blank with whatever potentially ridiculous thing we can think of)"
for example:
Obviously, I'm back.
herin - and it better be a high enough thread count or she'll never get into Harvard Law!
lol Dan.
"we would love to offer you a seat at the UN, ms. secondo, but we see you missed two days of school in third grade to go to Maine with your mother."
Dan, you + Melanie must focus on what kind of child you want to create, based upon Maggie's personality, gifts, strengths, weaknesses, etc. But to me the basics are: respect, responsibility, resilience, resourcefulness, reality...oops, I am giving away my book.
My sister refuses to let her little boy who is 3 months listen to Yo Gabba Gabba or In the night garden or any kids show that has baby language
3 months? wow.
my friends sister rented Peter Pan for her 5 month old twins, and we gave her SUCH a ration of grief! "How did they find Peter? Different from the book?"
Yep. She doesn't feel that he needs to hear goo ga and all that shtuff
Sad, Herin. Kids need to play, explore, be creative....it is so sad that kindergarten has evolved into 1st grade---kindergarten is now a year of intense academics and kids learn to dislike school.
however will she explain it then, when he doesn't speak in full sentences right from the jump?
The child won't know the difference between any sort of language at three months, surely?
He listens to old school cartoons and has a huge mental if he doesn't get to hear his favourite cooking show
Trophy Parenting--I see it everyday, as well as the opposite--parents that want life to be easy for their kids.
he is three months old! he should be working on holding his head still. jesus!
Ok let me make this clear. She doesn't just dump in front of a tv to do what ever. At the moment dad is away so he likes to hear male voices. He misses his dad.
You're saying that a 3 month old baby has a favourite cooking show? 3 months or 3 years?
scrabbler, my mom used to get a HUGE kick out of Plastic Parents in her practice -- the ones that had had every conceivable kind of plastic surgery, and looked perfect at all times. Plastic surgery does NOTHING for the genes, as you know, so those folks had some amazing, ugly-ass, horse faced kiddos.
3 Months old. It is a male I think he finds the voice soothing as he misses his dad
Hehe Scrab - adequateparenting.com uses "sanctimommiousness"
You guys are killing me today. Child rearing, passion...Can't we talk about something less emotional? Like politics or abortion.
I really feel for mums though. I have seen the guilt trip the Mothering Nurse loaded on a friend. I was horrified
hmmm. tampons?
good morning everyone:)
Hi crossie
Hello, crossy.
lol crossy, what a time to make an entrance!
Hi crossy
Is there a list?
why,what did i do now?
gremlinn has one, i think
scroll down, dear one
I think my sister will be much happier when her family is back together
ty
gramma - in gremlinn's profile http://www.playbabble.com/profile_mini .php?id=51181
I will check out that web site, Dan.
Dan I think the most important thing you need to worry about is love. Kids eat snot end of story
Hi Crossy!
scrabbs!!:))
afternoon all, back from run and redder in the fact than I've ever been before :)
howdy nb
sorry about your "fact" nancy!
and by fact...I mean face :(
lololol
hi, Crossy! :)
some would argue my face IS a fact. It's real, isn't it? :P
can't argue with that, no
Hi NB.
hi, Scrabbs :) I thought my very red face had killed chat there, for a second..
nb, I used to work with a Korean man who's face would turn bright red whenever he had any alcohol at all ---he just could NOT hide a martini at lunch!
he said it happened to all koreans, but I am not sure I believed him
Maybe it predisposes them to electric fan death.
haha! he might be right...I tend to flush quite easily. But if the red face doesn't alert you to the drunken nancy boy, then the falling over, slurring and general idiocy will do the job...
Most Asians naturally turn red from drinking ... not always a bad thing when you think about it.
Koreans believe that if you leave an electric fan running all night -death!
Yes, and air conditioning isn't all that good for you either, according to Asians.
Or cold water; it should be warm, or at least room temp.
no me confused
that's funny, haz, as mr hate would not let me open the windows at night -- he is irish, and was SURE the night air would lead to insanity. hmm....now that I think of it
I read about it in a blog written by a friend who's living in Korea - it's absolutely believed that the fan sucks the air from your lungs. But only at night.
Lol Trifs
Google electric fan death to see what we're risking.
btw, herin, I had a dream last night that we found more kittens in our garden shed - god help us all!
Some restaurants in Korea still serve dog, and you're worrying about the fans?
awwwww kitties
I had a dream that I was working in a pet store, managing the rabbits, and I was figuring out how to bring them all home with me.
My friend has a very ill tempered rabbit
who is going to tell me how may words today?
ill tempered sea bass are something to FEAR.
149
i thought cats were the ones who sucked the air out of your lungs/ sucked your life force at night/
Good morning all!
mind you, we have 4 cats.
thanks Haz
Hello bichon, jbp. Flowers do it too.
Hello bichon, jbp. Flowers do it too.
well, I suppose every country has its own oddities..
You're welcome, steve.
flowers do it??
149 words
They suck the life force from patients in hospitals.
wow, i had never heard that
hmmmm
They always used to move flowers out of wards during the night. Maybe it's a Brit thing?
to get to gremlin's profile you do Control?
In rankings, go control plus f, type in his name and it should highlight it.
maybe that's why the republicans here are so afraid of "socialized" health care
ty Haz, always forget that
Hi steve, Bichon, jbp
No problem, bichon.
BBL, time to focus on the tennis match.
Bye, Scrabbler.
what tennis match?
enjoy, Scrabbs :)
Ladies final at the French.
well, i've got 65 left, and a bad attitude, so I'll bbl
Bye, jbp.
we were GLUED to the scripps spelling bee last night, word nerds that we are
I am watching the squirrels fight over the birds seeds which have spilled on the gjround
herin, are you still here?
Yes
I read that as "fight birds over the seeds" and was imagining quite a tough fight for those poor birds (though they could flee quite easily).
The kitty was on my head but she didn't ill me
I think those parents grill their children to learn all those obscure words
kill
awww, Bichon! I love watching squirrels - nature's little comedians
It's creature kill creature at my bird feeder
I'm having trouble keeping up with the chat. I keep running to put in a load of laundry or to hang bedding on the clothesline.
I like the chipmunks better
haz,go to you just giving page for a moment;))))
I am changing my icon for you -- primo just emailed me the cover of his comic, which is not real, but was his latest art assignment -- please hold
You need to get your priorities right, Mudd.
Back shortly....
im glad the page made it nice and easy to do;))
awww, bless you, Crossy ;)
You're a star, crossy, thank you!
:)) its also near and dear to me as you know:)) hope you raise 10,000 ;)
should be okay now
I'm missing a k 5, and I'm stuck. I have ka5/18, kn5/18, ko5/18 and kr5/18, but there's one more...
kn 4
oops, sorry
I'll maybe not raise that much, crossy, but I'm thrilled with what's happened so far.
My priorities are right ... love the smell of air-dried sheets, but I picked the wrong day ... hoping for rain, but that my stuff dries first.
has anyone posted clues?
Uh, clues, what clues?
Another ko5/18 is needed.
Trifs I like
thanks haz
me too!
You're welcome.
thank you herin
Have you been getting some good sponsors, Haz? People have been very good around here - gives me lots of incentive to finish the marathon! Anything over 5 miles and you'd need some incentive ;)
sa5=a brand of plastic cling wrap used to keep food fresh
I have - people have been very generous and more still to come.
fireworks!
Well done, Locks!
wty
yaa for locks!!
wonderful. I was really surprised by the generosity of lots of people...all adds up!
It does.
those british pounds are not quite as deadly as they once were,i think i paid only 1.79 cad
i remember when we had to pay 2.79 per
a beautiful word like 'finikin' so close to being in today's puzzle; just one letter in the way.
Currencies confuse me terribly with exchange rates etc.
lol haz,it cost me 2 for one today basically, would do more but cash is not flowing as it once was
well, I think it's a very good thing you're doing
yes,haz is my hero:))
yaa for haz!!
You're fine, crossy, I appreciate it. I've been fundraising for this particular charity for years, this is the first time I've got my walking shoes on.
Haz best wishes with the Walk too
Thanks, herin.
well I don't want to get to the end of my life and wish I'd done more...so I'm throwing myself in at the deep end ;)
ooooh, a james bond movie is ***this*** close to being a phantom today!
Best of luck to you, nancy, and to haz! you are my heroes
just a note has on breast cancer,as of 3 days ago, there is a report that they have isolated several key protiens and are actually on their way to a preventative shot much like that one they are giving to teen girls for that other cancer that i cannot remember the name of atm
The impetus for me to do it was listening to a lady at our AGM who told of attending for mammography 'on a whim' - no symptoms or anything. Her cancer was picked up, she was treated and was now well. She looked at us very directly and said 'I owe you my life'. There are maybe thousands like her out there, so it's worth it to save the lives of wives and mothers.
that would be cervical cancer, crossy
james bond? I can only think of three james bond films...I'm not good at this "being a man" thing ;)
HPV Human Papiloma Virus
ty trif
it's okay, nancy, this one was WAY before your time
oh yeah, my sister got that jab!
My mother has survived breast cancer twice. In my lifetime, to see a prevention would be wonderful
This particular charity does lots of work in other types of cancer - but the focus of this walk is raising money for mammograms. We don't forget the men either!
my m.i.l has breast cancer,my f.il lung cancer,my da has survived prostate, colon and melenoma,my ma passed of cervical,i have had seminoma, lymphnoma and melenoma...so i give to all cancer aids cause im selfish and i want a cure there for me for the next go around lol
well men get breast cancer too, don't they?
Men who carry one of the BRCA mutations are at risk for breast cancer
They can do - but I'm thinking of prostate and testicular cancers for men. My cousin's son has just come through treatment for testicular cancer. He's just 23.
okay, I need to go get ready for secondo's dance recital.....have a great day everyone!
I am back, I am missing a 7. I have the ti7, the pi and the fi7 what am I pissing?
Bye Trif.
There are two pi7.
I don't know Marc what are you pissing?
Both begin with the rosy colour.

then your son is my brother in arms haz, did he have operation, chemo or both?
I have the one which starts with a color for girls.
He had both, crossy.

well you were the inspiration! My body might never get over the shock ;)
cause i have lots of belly to spare!! lol!!
didnt even lessen my belt size;((
4 chunks of your belly. That's a mild case. you are a tough one crossy

ro=a chess piece..missed that fish
well, I'm gonna go take a nap and then chug a few energy drinks for this evening. Got a big fat bumper shift tonight, joy of joys ;)
go easy on those energy drinks hb,they are not good for you
Okay, time I was doing other things. Spangle needs a walk for a start, then there's planting of pots to be done.
tc haz
they're not? :O
So, I'll say bye for now, and thanks again for the encouragement - it means a lot. Bye!
nope, your better of with some fresh fruit,it releases slow sugars which will do you in better stead
hmmm...fresh fruit is pretty much half my diet anyway, so I guess that's alright. I think energy drinks have a sort of placebo effect on me - I believe I'll be full of energy, therefore I am!
has anyone posted a word list for today?

But, I'll be off for my sad little afternoon nap ;) take care!!

Hi Jen and lbd!
well I should begin fixing up the master BDRM seeing as it's a mess...I can leave the 'puter on to help if needed...
hi everyone!
lbd, I like your Maxine today
I had cleared out hte smaller guest bdrm and moved my bed into it...and now the master is in disarray...but I have been sleeping much mire soundly and restfully since I moved the bed..
Wow! Moving out of the master bdrm would be a chore here too
HI everybody. :)
what is the difference in the rooms, PAV?
hi Soodle
Hello soodlebum! How are you? Welcome to the puzzle
Nef - I am so glad your hubbys back home with you,
MBDR = 20D x 13 W...2nd bdrm = 9D x 13 W
Hey Minver. Puzzles with no lickety scare me..........
that's a BIG difference! Any other differences besides size? (is direction for different sun exposure or???)
master faced east and the noise...2nd bdrm faces west and get little noise...I'm in the center of our block so to speak, so not much traffic all aorund...
thanks Soodle. I'm thrilled myself!
Soodlebum, I have a list in my profile if you need one.
I have my Meyer lemon tree i nthe smaller bdrm for the window light...bright from 5'ish until later afternoon...
Thanks Min. I will see how far I get without it....
I positioned my bed in the same direction as I had it inthe master..but for some reason...noise?, I actually enjoy my sleep moreso
unless you use room darkening curtains, I think it's harder to sleep in an east-facing bdrm
my neighbors are also not using their spaces next to the smaller bdrm as much...one is the sountern neighbors 2nd bdrm which she uses as an office/craft room...my northern neighbor has her kitchen there, again with little usage. Condos can be as bad as apartments' thin walls so for now it seems to work for me...
beans planted
that was fast, cyber!
and I have a set of dark blue velvet drapes with a white out in the master...no drapes as of yet in the smaller room , although I have them , just not put up yet
Hello cybernan! Welcome back! That was very quick!

did you just move recently to a new home, PAV?
Phantom words for me today are anion, inion, & onion
you nailed my phantoms too, Min
nope, been here 9 years...I needed a change from the closeness of my neighbors... I like where I live, I don't like the influx of less than caring homeowners/renters
i have a medical question to ask if i may
what's up, Jen?
i am suffering from severe dry mouth which has caused 2 cavities! i'm 47! has anyone used anything that works?
Jen, you may need a complete physical for that one. At least see your regular doc and tell him about it as you should have some blood work done.

Nef, how is your husband doing, how are you?
Hi peri. I brought him home this AM! He's now in a wheelchair or uses a walker for going in and out of the house; but he's HOME! :-D
glad he is home, hope all goes well
and *I* made *him* lunch! (He was giving me grief about it, saying I couldn't do it!) ;-) I hope so too, peri. I really appreciate the info you gave me.
anytime, Nef
help with fi7 bpls
gremlinn, are you here?
I worked 34 yrs in ICU; 3 years in county nursing (early 70's); and 42 years as an RN and I still had no clue about how it works on the receiving end til now
fi7 is what you get when hit with a fish, peri
it is always different when you are on the other end. I was a discharge planner for over 20 years so that makes a differnce.
ty Nef, for the fi7
yw :-)
so glad he's home nef ... and doing better I hope
amnio
thank you wildcat. He is doing better, but won't be walking much anymore. We are getting used to the changes
that has to be hard for both of you
90 left, bbl
what can I say? We've lived with this disease for 25 years, we'd *hoped* and prayed that it wouldn't go this way; but now it's time to accept and move on. It's a different "normal" now
bye, peri
great attitude nef .. hope his is the same
at this point it is. I'll be ready if he has problems
hey lichety hasnt been on yet, how many words are there today

fuck sorry
Nef: Three years ago my daughter was diagnosed with MS and CIDP. At this time, after being allergic to just about all treatments she is on Rebif and steroid infusions. She is declining every day and the doctors have told us that she will eventually be paralyzed from the neck down. However, she remains very positive and believes that God has a plan for her. We are actively researching and talking to the University of Pittsburgh researchers dealing with computerized implants for mobility.
There is a new medicine made available in March called Ampyra. It has shown remarkable results helping people regain walking. If you google ampyra it will give you all the details. I hope this works for your husband. I must go now as we are having bad storms here. Good luck.

All I'm doing is monkeying and waiting for you guys to drop clues.
I feel like a scavenger.
I'm working on a story of clues now Kaplan the Magne
Cool
no finito.
Yes, tried that word before as well Kaplan the Magne
I i have 74 4-letter words, and I'm seeing if I can monkey all of them.
I would have many more words if we could be bi or trilingual.
do you have any idea from which letters you are missing 4-letters, kap?
4 columns gray!!
59 left
No, I'm not using a list, just monkeying futiley.
I have 35 left, but peri will finish and I will flake out.
:)
that is your choice Magne
I like to finish
Yes it is- I don't have the stamina
I am a weak-willed person.
using a list would make it go faster
Yeah- I am very laze when there is no lickety I say Screw It! it's my excuse
I agree it is much harder and slower without babble expert
I don't sit here all day, I take lots of breaks, even went to the beach today :)
you did more today than I did. What beach do you live near.
what is the name of the show those kids were in, in your icon, Magne
Atlantic City
Dobie Gillis!
not near, it takes about 2 hours to get there but it is worth it
oh yes, Dobie Gillis, I remember that show
I was lazy today
pi 6/24?
It had Maynard G Krebs
Leslie, compound word, deep hole and male
The pi 6/24 is one who works in a coal mine LeslieAnn
yes Maynard
ah thank you min
Who works in a coal mine other than a miner?
yw
I am revealing my ignorance.
it's pretty literal, kap
Oh, I got it.
pi 6/24 word is peach *** plus male Kaplan the Magne.
yeah, I just snagged it
I'm surprised that the oi 4 does not have an -er at the end of it and even a plural
My monkeys were crazy today and ran am 4/9. They were an4/4-Babble. They ra 4/4ed and raved on how they did not want to help.Monkeys wouldn't listen to their ma5/12. I wanted to kick them in the ar 4/4. I tried to lock them up in a ro 4/5, but they would not stay in their do 6/24. Monkeys smelled the ar5/12 of fried bananas and ar 5/10 out of their seats and ran out the do 4/5 down Ma 4/5 Street to ro 4/5 around places unknown. I am so mad at them.I am locking all my do5/12 and will not let them back in4/4 my house when they come back. Wouldn't even give them a mo 6/21 of chocolate if they wanted it. I hope they get bitten by a kr 5/18. They ma 4/9 me so mad and put me in a mo 6/21 mo4/6.Thought I was do4/6ed when they left the house.I got all nervous that I would not finish because of no list and no monkeys. My stomach became tied up in a kn4/8.My monkey troubles are a mo4/5 point now because I finished anyway. It to4/8 me awhile, but I finally did finish. I was tickled pi 4/9 when I finished. However,my ra4/8 is still low.I hope this story of clues ma 5/20 sense to you. I am going to go kn 4/8 my shirt some mo4/5. Then I'm going to go read a book in my no4/8 & drink some pi5/12 noir wine. I will be back later on to give some more clues.
I'm speechless!
thanks min :)

LOL I adore penne, but admit the methods to get it into the tummy are lacking.
thanks Nef
I brought him home this AM, stid! I am SO glad he's home! :-D
WOO-HOO!!!! *celebrating with choclits*
I am very happy for both of you! (((hugs)))
I'm thrilled!
now then. will you have the support you need to keep him safe and you sane?
you mean 4 point leather restraints? ;-)
(for you, or for him?) *wink back*
none of those here; but he will be having his therapies at home for now since getting in and out of the house is not too good yet.
GOOD. at home therapy may be more useful, since the therapists may be able to suggest things to you when they see the actual situation. It was useful for my grandmother, post-stroke.
the Metro Mobility doesn't help people exiting or entering their homes; just on and off the transport bus. If I'm working; he can't do it
ah, I see. That makes sense, but not so convenient for either of you.
the PT and OT therapists came on Friday and saw the house and watched him enter and leave. THAT was what made them decide for at home therapy for now
Excellent. I am glad they were able to do that.
I think, if I weren't going to be a teacher, PT would be my other choice. I have so much respect for the ways PT and OT helped our elder son when he was younger.
and the ones who came to my grandmother's house were also excellent.
me too! I only have a few things I had to change; and we found that if he uses the front door for exiting, we'd have to do a small amount of remodelling (which we don't have the $$ for anyway)
hi, all. I'm on break...yawn!
hey Nancy Boy! how's the training going?
what was the matter with your son?
Hi NB!!! DH is HOME!!!! :-D
he has CP, Erb's palsy and some other brain damange. all minor, but all together needed help when younger.
Ohhhhh Nef, what great news!!! I'm so happy for you :)
:-D Me too. I can relax!
and it's going well thank you Stid ;) well, I have my first big test coming up on Monday...20 mile run around London. Should be interesting. How are you??
technically, the Erb's thing is damage to the nerve between the neck and the shoulder, not brain damage, but the other stuff is.
quite Nef...no more going back and forth all the time :) you definitely deserve a break!
WOW, NB! That's ambitious
20 miles? I am exhausted just thinking about it! Do you get to stop at pubs and such for breaks? *innocent mama look*
I am feeling better and better. Actually went out with Mother and the younger stidkid to shop for clothes for his promotion ceremony later this month.
It really does help when they can do early intervention on kids.
He is going to have *drumroll* patent leather CONVERSE high-tops to wear with his dress-up clothes! LOL
I wish Stid ;) and you got that right Nef...not as ambitious as the marathon it's in training for, mind you :P
WOW! They make those???
We got him three dress shirts, his first pair of really nice dress pants, and two pair of converse (the other are just standard black ones).
oh, good that you're up and about, Stid! Don't wear yourself out though :)
they do! LOL Mother saw them on the display behind the fancy tuxedos, and she insisted he have some!
I am being VERY slow today Nancy Boy, trust me! Even was lying down for a little bit just now. The flu always takes it out of me for an extra week.
oh. and a hat. He looks REALLY good in his hat!
Wow! :-D that's really interesting! My brother (56 y/o) still only wears the red converse hightops; I need to tell him about those!
those standard black converse served me well during my school days, Stid. They were against school rules, but when it came to me and uniform, the school had to pick its battles ;)
:-D It is so much fun when a person has a "signature" piece or two. I think my son's are the converse and the hats. The other son loves interesting ties.
why would black high tops be against a dress code? They certainly don't stand out that much
those English schools, Nef. they're pretty strict sometimes I think.
I will be student teaching next year in a public school in Tacoma that has a dress code. Should be interesting.
My argument exactly, Nef! I used to always just casually rest my bag over my feet in assembly...I also got in trouble for wearing my tie round my head, but that wasn't really all the time ;)
you will do great! DO YOU have to follow a dress code too?
I am hoping the teacher dress code is more flexible...
I will find out on Tuesday, Nef. Will meet with my mentor teacher.
??? tie around the head? like a headband??? (you radical, you)
Wow! It seems to be happening fast, stid!
I can understand the tie thing, NB
It is happening fast, Nef. When I started back to school (a year before the master's program -- I had so many undergrad classes to meet requirements), it seemed like it would be forever. Now it's only a year away.
well, we had a really strict dress code, so we used to entertain ourselves by doing costume drills. There would be a 'rock' drill and everyone would put on sunglasses and put their ties on like headbands...stuff like that. We had to make our own fun in my day!
LOL Nancy Boy (in your day indeed, you young whippersnapper!)
down to 61 now...
what a hoot! That had to have been --what? Last year?
how scary, Stid! I'm sure you'll be a great teacher...just hope your students aren't as naughty as I sometimes was ;)
I can handle them, Nancy Boy. I am a MOTHER! *practices stern mama look on Nancy Boy*
stid's got kids of her own. She at least has some idea of how the teen mind works
*instantly removes tie from around head*
oh no, Nef. I don't think ANYONE has any idea of how the teen mind works... LOL
see? it worked! LOL
well, Moms at least know that they work in strange ways
that's true enough. And each teen is stranger than the next.
Nancy Boy, are you still a teen?
for a few more months at least, Stid ;) strange indeed!
ah, you're a young'un, all right! when I was your age... *tries to remember* that was more than 25 years ago and I was just leaving my first college because I ran out of money.
well, at first I thought 20 sounded a bit daunting. but I was thinking about my nineteenth year, and it's been pretty messed up - bittersweet is the best way to describe it. maybe my twentieth year will settle it down a little!
I think it will -- do you keep a diary?
I find that, when I take time to journal regularly (maybe not daily) that it helps me gain perspective when I look back later on.
and now look at you, Stid - getting ready to go back into the classroom from the other side!
I know. pretty scary, isn't it? Scarier still, how long it seemed to take me to figure out what I wanted to be when I grew up.
wow. down to 49...
left column grey...
scary, but I can really imagine you as a teacher. and you've worked so hard for it, so maybe it was worth the wait to find that level of dedication :)
well, let's see if I survive student teaching. I have VERY long commutes coming in the fall -- close to two hours each way for about 11 weeks. It will be the hardest part of the year.
ouch! shudder to think of how early you'll be getting up in the morning :S
yes. early starts, and lots of work during the evenings, so will have sleep dep issues I am sure. However, that is a temporary thing, and I can do anything for a couple of months.
Graduationi is over/done with!
(hi all)
I will just work hard this summer to make sure that the house and yard are in the best possible shape so that when I am working this autumn it won't take so much time to keep things up at home.
hoorah, pini! (you're in the grid)
* grin *
pini -- Nef's DH is HOME!!!
YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!
sure you can if you're determined, Stid ;) seems babble is full of inspirational stories recently - new jobs, people quitting smoking, Crossy doing so well with his diet...
How're they doing?
hi, Pini!
hi NB :)
I think they're doing okay -- she was here a little while ago.
glad to hear it, stid!
EEK. I need ELEVEN more K words??? *faint*
It's always a good thing when the family can be together! :)
I need 7 more, stid :)
Didn't know there were that many words that started with K!
actually, on that note, I had to do the conversion maths to figure out how well Crossy had done - turns out, really well! I was having a chuckle over it, 'cause he's lost one fifteenth of my total body weight ;)
*gasp* wow, that is great news! I am pleased he is doing so well. And YOU could stand to add a little young man! *concerned mama look*
NB, if I lost a pound it would be the equivalent of you losing both legs!!! LOL
pini, we bought the younger stidkid some dress shirts today for his promotion ceremony later this month... The SMALLEST neck size they had was still a little large on him. *sigh* I think he needs more milkshakes.
I'm sure he'll "grow into his own" (eventually), stid...however, I'm sure he's loving the fact he needs mo4 milkshakes!! :)
it's all the recent trouble Stid, I've been burning off calories through the most vigorous, effective exercise I know - nervous jittering.
LOL Pini! things aren't that dire ;)
NB, better stop jittering or there'll be nothing left of you!!! :)
I don't think he minds the milkshakes, to be sure. I was just happy that his feet STILL haven't grown (now two years) so his new patent-leather converse don't have to be so large.
well, make sure that you are eating GOOD food, kiddo. I do worry about you, you know!
patent-leather converse? Didn't know you could get converse in leather!! :)
yep. apparently so. Mother saw them today when we were at the store for the dress shirts and insisted he get some! LOL
wow! will wonders never cease!
down to 38 now!
s'alright Stid, I know well what my body can take. At my worst and most eating-disorderly, my BMI came out at 12 - I won't go there again!
(that's another wonder!)
57 to go here...
I would feel overly thin at a BMI of 20...
go pini go!
good evening, I need a clue for the re that is not putting something in water again?
I'd hate to even venture finding out what my BMI is...
hey Marc
hi marc
you, too, stid!
to make a sweater again mark
oops. marc I mean
I have 2 re6/30's marc...
thanks stid I got it
good for you Marc
so, I think I will lie down again for a while. See you-all again soon I hope! ((Nancy Boy)) remember to eat good COMPLEX carbs and plenty of protein while training for the big run.
well, a BMI of 20 is healthy, Stid. I should know 'cause it's what I happen to be at right now ;)
take care, stid ;)
Pini, I will be in Portland tomorrow afternoon. want me to pick up anything at powell's?
LOL I'll see you later. *poof*
thank you, Stid! Come to think of it, I should get back to work...hah. Rest well and be good ;) xx
I'll have to pass this time, stid...but looking forward to going again sometime! :)
take care, NB...rest easy
ok, back for my last 38.... may need a list soon, who has it?

hi pini
Just wanted to let you know there is a list and a story of clues in my profile if anybody is still working on the grid
oooo - thanks, min... going
me, too; me, too!
The ka4/11 word is/8 ka plus no **s ands or buts. ka 4/8 sounds like Cane and Abel. kn 4/8 is kn plus **e you done?
oh sheesh.. hadn't even noticed the kn option... thanks
A ka 5/18 word is the hopping australian animal kanga***
A kn 5/18 is plural of the kn 4/8 word I clued just before
hi! how's the grid?
uh oh, no lickety?
hmpf. fine. i didn't wanna play anyway. i'll just take my keyboard and go home.
;)
A kn 4/8 word is a way to make a sweater and kn 4/8 is same word with different vowel in middle. Ko 4/8 is ko plus k plus J*** of Arc. ko4/8 is same but ends with a snake letter. Ko4/8 sounds like Christmas song;the first N*** and ko5/18 is plural.ko5/18 is ko plus water from the sky minus the last letter.ko4/8 is k plus The Peace C***.The next ko4/8 word is the same but ends with snake letter. The kr5/18 sounds like milk carrier
ty min! the story gave me 4! and thanks for the k clues too
Hello featherbee! How are you doing? Welcome to puzzle

Hello Scrabbler! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid
After a day of gardening (sunscreen, bug spray, sweat, dirt) I just showered and feel refreshed.
It was a very hot day to do gardening today Scrabbler.
hello scrabs, saw the bunny lady today at the market and thought of you
I just put the DVD of "Paranormal Activity" in the DVD player--any good?
I love bunnies!!
Hi 72 Temple Owl! How are you? Welcome to the chat log
please i am missing the ko5/18 that does not rhyme with christmas
alas, i do not love tho nes in my yard. i fear for their safety.
ko 5/18 is ko + water from the sky minus the last letter.
ty 2 to go
Owl, tell the bunnies to look both ways before crossing the street.
96 to go
Go 72 Temple Owl go!
well thry tend to hunker down when the hear the lawnmover. i am terrified of hitting one
That is how baby bunnies get injured + killed.
well i know. but wha is there to do? dogs in adjoiing yards.
You could check out the yard first, for nests--below ground level.
Around bushes, flower beds.
i beleive it is clear since i think they are undre the shed. i am not thrilled.
but i saw a big puff of fur in the lawn yesterday
It could be from a fight, from a raptor grabbing a rabbit for lunch, the top layer of a nest...
if just loose sitting on grass hopefully not a nest
we have hawks
Sadly, bunnies are prey animals.
all small mammals are. i had to watch my cat carefully
True, true.
the rabbit lady also had guinea pigs and rats today
wow, even with the lsit, this is requiring quite a bit of monkeying
(back - and I agree, kje!)

Hello Nef!How are you? Welcome back to the chat log
I"m multi tasking, I just got a new ipod game taht's insanely addictive!
thanks. I'm down to 23 now; DH is now heading for bed
uh oh, not a new addictive game!!! is it more addictive that THIS game?
Is it Wurdle? My dad has Wurdle on his iPhone and it's addicting. Fortunately, I do not have an iPhone yet.
yup, Tilt to Win
It cost 1.99
Wurdle costs 1.99 too.Does anybody babble on their iPhone here? I think I would wear out my battery if I had an iPhone and just babbled on it all day long.
(so glad i do not have one of those gadgets)
(Me too, Gwen)
it reminds me of the 80's when i would stay up all night playing Tetris!
Kinda wish I had an iPhone, but don't want to pay for one. I think that they are way too expensive to buy.
Oh, I LOVED tetris! I used to be addicted to that too
i take it the oh4 on lickety's list is a typo?
I get drug companies and other companies emailing me asking if I have one and do I want a "free" app for an iphone? SURE, it's free to start, but how much is it after that?
Lickety's list is from Thursday. I have one in profile.
I don't have the phone just an ipod, which I bought because (drum roll....) my walkman finally gave out!
that's funny -- i hit the "send words to clues" button and a buch of them fit LOL
TY min,, gonna copy yours
I'd like to have an ipod too, but do 't want to pay for it also. Also, I would be addicted to the games on it.
how's the grid today?
The first half was easy for me.Then I had to use a list
clue for the lone n please, and , hello
After I went to the list, I found 59 more words easily.

Hello pooh2! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid

Must check lurkers profiles. May not see them again!
Niters lbd!
Just popping in to say hello
Everyone does seem so genuinely kind and concerned for each other - I really enjoy playing and watching the chat.
With an occassional troll every so often. You cannot leave out the trolls.
Ands hi to you too pooh! I often can't chat and play at the same time; that's why I'm always putting the wrong words in the wrong box
Hi Momneedshelp! How are you? Welcome to the grid!
Min, don't you think there are less trolls here than other sites?
off to put my daughter to bed - have a lovely evening everyone!
hey Min - how are you doing

its been a few weeks since I've seen any trolls (knock on wood)
LOL! And I have to thank you also, gremlinn. I forgot I was using your list! <blush>
there were some weekday mid-morning for a couple weeks there - nasty buggers
if no one needs any help - I am going to scoot over to wordsplay for a bit before bedtime
Trolls can be amusing sometimes. Who knows maybe they are lurking as we speak. Maybe we should stop talking about them.We might lure them out into chog
Bye Momneedshelp! I will see you tomorrow in the log
these were not amusing - very nasty - glad the good Dr God took care of them. I can take alot of abusive language but this was over the top

I'm missing 2 ma words (I think they are both ma4's)
8 ma4s total
That ma 4/5 word is Ma** Street. ma 4/9 is to ma** a run for it.ma4/9 is like first one, ends with different vowel. ma 4/5 is spanish for hand. ma 4/5 is a horse.
