how can smurf not be a word?? and hello all
If smurf should be a word, then Sherlock Holmes should be a word
can't find the last 2 - will look at it again tomorrow -- good night :)
you mean, two words?
"Sherlock Holmes" has the added disadvantage of being proper.
late flip!
Let me rephrase that. If smurf should be a word, ewok should be a word
There ya go.
Smurfs (or smurves) are creepy.
They're blue, poor things.
Blue and shirtless.
i still have a 45 year old smurf.. my daughter used to collect them when she was a kid
its in a box wsith the pogs and sidewalk chalk and a macaroni bracelet-lol
pogs?
round cardboard things that the kids used to collect- years ago
I want hink to be a word
you mean it ISN'T ??
dammmm
LOL!

FW
I have it on good authority that there actually are some words in this grid
I've heard of wanking, but wank isn't a word
apparently a wanker does not wank, jilli

Hehe

Sure does!

Is he here? I came in late.

I keep seeing "panama" near the bottom.

have to teach that w word some manners: any rude hut
hi babrab!
Hello, jilli
a clue please for the ma 7
adult male + consonant + french water
ty
meaning a coat in french, as I recall. Thanks, grem.
port + ma7 means a combination of words
ma7: a new word formed by joining two others and combining their meanings: portMA7
ty that was my last word
CONGRATS, meeshu1
thank you very much....I don't finish too often
YAY meeshu!!!
Good for you!
I'm usually happy to get half way with no list and that isn't always possible for me. A happy victory tonite
really great, meeshu!
thanks and see you all tomorrow evening
be well, mmeshy1
and you'll be welcome :)
I never finish grids and yet tonight I only have five left. Clues anyone? in6,30; in7,44; la6,33; ll5,12; ma7,36
Just got LL5,12
ma7 was just clued -- scroll down!

Thanks Babble!
Jill...saw the clue, but still don't get it for some reason.
ll5 is a variant spelling of the South American herbavore
phant lawine
One left!
la6 is a police officer or sheriff
shelf above the fireplace :ma*tle + b*** bridges actor
Thanks all! I finished!

Hello Katie and Barb
*disappointed smurf isn't taken*
Hi, still a bit sore. Now getting some pain in my bum, hope that's just because I have been walking funny
or wank
LOL
lol ruru I tried that one as well
if Our British players were all playing wank would work
36 left off to bed for me..night all or ...if you are just starting your day...have a good one
night Barb
I have reached mnbt4, where I have either 4 words or the maximum number of words from every tile
My goal is for MBB = multiple blank blanks.
You mean finishing the grid?
Nah, just a superstition thing
mnbt5 - "This...this is madness!"
Top o the morning everybody :)
morning soodle
And likewise to you, Soodlebum
hi soodle
Former Bush speechwriter David Frum is in the grid, but he's not a word
no... his behind is though. lol
In fact, his whole family is in the grid! (I hope they're polite, it might be a little crowded in there)
his vice president is in the grid however
The new puppy was as good as gold last night. He has succeeded where I have failed. My daughter is out of bed, and its only 8.10 am. Result!!!!
vp??
Huh? Cheney? Who? Wha? Where?
ru4/7 because he is an ass
no quayle either!
quayle only shows up when potato is in the grid
nice
mnbt6
'smurf' is not a word. lol..
The Smurfs were not enduring enough a creation to merit inclusion in the dictionary. Many Babblers have commented on this today.
mnbt7, aka 2 left
mnbt8, aka fireworks
wtg Doug
So, should I hoist a st5, or have a pi4 colada? I know! Yes!
doug can you clue the ma 7
Not a woman + something that sounds like the end of a foot
fireworks
not getting that
all right Katie!!
french ending ruru
it's like a shoulder shawl... I think
thank you
oh! port ma*****
got it.
very clever clue doug
dense tonight
I don't believe the wi 6.. I never knew it was a word?
could you clue it,please,Ruru?
sounds like a Camp in Up State New Yori
I actually knew that one!
york.. camp wi6
it starts like an online dictionary. and then not down
ThanksRu and M9
I'm more familiar with that wi6 as a 7, but that's ok
fireworks
Well done M9
thanks
wow. yesterday's took forEVER. this one just over an hour.
But it's way late here. anyone want a clue before I head off to bed?
No thanks M. This is a very pleasant little grid!
ok. gnight all
Good night m, good night all
good morning all. how many words today please
em 4.9 is not a word in any dictionary yet they will not accept wa 4.12,a hand job ! lol
what a morning!
Morning Ata!!!
fm!!!!!!
:)
whats up?
My day started at 3:30am because La Hobbit had obviously come across something disgusting on the beach yesterday and proceeded to eat it. She spent half the night needing to go out. But finally got some charcoal Bonios down her, and she had a drink of milk (she wouldn't drink her water at *all*, but milk is apparently acceptable right now) and the day can return to normal!
Oh dear lol!
naughty Hobbity.
she's a very woebegone little pup now
so you will both be having a little snooze a bit later I suspect.
not much later I suspect :)
I thought I'd at least try and finish the grid first!
I've not long started but so far so good.
9 left :)
wtg!
are you listing?
nope, but saw clues for the 7s :D
Good luck, I have a couple of phone calls to make so will be back in a bit.
see you soon!
any clue for wi 6-48 please
****pedia + not down
thanks very much but never heard of it
it's an Indian tent or something
firebirds!
Congrats dear!!!! Im over half way already, it seems to be a nice small grid for a change.
there is a cat noise ... just to warn you!
Good morning!
oh thanks for that. Good morning Haz!
Haz! La Glitterata!
Bonjour! It's a gridette this morning.
gridlet :D
Un petite gridette :)
and a nice one at that
Some funny words. The la6/33 arrested the fr5/22 for crimes against fashion.
It would have to be une petite gridette, though. The French police would allow no less.
someone stole my e
Maybe that's what Hobbit ate that disagreed with her.
lol
If Hobbit coughs up an E, we'll know for sure.
c'est un peau similar a une petite griotte :)
well she's coughed up everything else
eeeeew
Was it a capital E or a small e? E would be angular and more difficult to cough up.
sorry was just purging the e's *grin*
probably a capital E italic
turn some dog biscuits into scrabble tiles and she could throw up a whole sentence
They're the worst.
bold italic might be worse ...
Font size would have to be taken into consideration as well.
yay found the ma7 (thanks to the french theme)
and font face. some are pointier than others
We'd have to be like the Health and Safety people and work from a worst case scenario.
Given some of the things we know Hobbity has eaten I don' think font size or colour will deter her to be honest.
yes ........
clue for ma7?
fums
it's alright to give her skimmed milk, isn't it, Haz? She just won't drink her water and I don't want her to get dehydrated
Back in 5, time for coffee.
ma7 - French for a cloak or coat. Start with a masculine figure, add a consonant, finish with French water.
Is she used to getting milk? If so, it should be okay, but dogs not used to milk can have a dose of the scoots as a result.
ty
Or even water the milk down. Just don't let her see what you're doing.
she's used to dairy stuff of one kind or another. Anyway, I'd rather more of that than have a dehydrated dog on my hands!
You're welcome, tizer.
Has she been vomiting a lot?
a bit, but nothing drastic, there's just been a lot of liquid coming out of her other end, to try and put it somewhat politely!
It sounds like she's eaten something she shouldn't have. Apart from FM's capital E, can you think what she might have guzzled?
I have *no* idea. We were on the beach yesterday, I didn't *see* her eat anything, but ...
she's feeling very sorry for herself, poor babe
It's actually better if she's producing from both ends - it kind of rules out foreign body. If you try the usual withholding of food for 24 hours, keep up the fluids, she should be fine. Woebegone, but fine.
she never learns though!! you'd think that she'd think twice before scoffing whatever delicacy it was that she found, but no
I think it's just instinct. Dogs haven't mastered Consequences.
and Oscar is back home in Sark! He had an op on his cruciate on Saturday
Gosh, that dog is a walking vet's bill.
Oscar is supporting the local economy.
he'd torn his cruciate completely and they had to do something to his kneecap too
How did he manage to do that Ata?
How old is he? How many more operations can he fit in to his life?
I don't think they really know. He just started limping a while ago
he's 5, I *think*
That gives him years of going under the knife, as bloodthirsty people here like to say.
he's looking rather woebegone too
I should imagine he is, poor thing.
Hah, found the volcano
lol yay!
and found Fireworks - what a nice grid but over too soon.
Well done, FM!
well done!
was the volcano your last word?
Did you beat gremlinn's time? 9 minutes this morning. He's slowing up.
9 mins! good grief!
It was a full minute before he found a 7 letter word. There are chinks in his armour.
That is probably about how long it took me to do sucky duck.
What type is it today? Allegedgly easy, medium, hard, or don't bother starting?
Allegedly.
No Ata the correct spelling of the pack animal was my last word. Medium Haz.
ooo I don't like mediums
for a medium it is OK today.
Like Derek Acorah?
certainly don't like him!!
'Talk to me, Michael. I'm from Liverpool. Talk to me'
lol
he's almost as nonsensical as Jordan
She's going to dye her hair blonde.
She says it will make her younger looking.
Royal Ascot starts tomorrow - can't wait to see some of the outfits.
she always looked stupid with black hair cos it was so obviously fake back
she always looked stupid with black hair cos it was so obviously fake back black
And if you believe the headlines in the magazines, she's either planning a wedding, or planning a divorce, she's either pregnant or she's going to adopt.
Hasn't she been blonde before?
or is wailing about she caaaaaan't haaaave another baaaaaaby
I've heard that she's doing a dressage exhibition on a pi4 horse at Ascot.
Haz, don't tell me you buy *those* magazines?
or do you have them in the waiting room at the surgery?
she just accidentally reads the headlines!
No, you'll note that I said the headlines. They sit them all together and you can get all the info from the front.
It's just so funny - same people week in, week out, weight lost, weight gained, husband gained, husband lost.
and Corrie stars no-one's ever heard of
'My bikini body hell' - solution, wear a sarong like the rest of us.
or ex Big Brother contestants
I love sarongs
So does David Beckham.
isn't Big Brother on again now?
good morning everyone
LO, had forgotten that fashion faux pas.
Morning Mom
So it would appear. Cue Channel 4 being declared a no view zone.
Hello, Mom.
*le sigh* yes it is Ata ... for 3 months :((
THREE MONTHS??
3 months?
what with that and the football and wimbledon there is very little else left to watch on terestrial TV.
(Said with equal incredulity but no use of capitals)
hi Mom
Good morning, what a tiny grid
hello
well, maybe 2 months but even so!
Good morning, ruby. We've named it a gridette, or a gridlet.
Hi ((Ruby))
Hello, herin.
at least it is the last time we will be plagued by it.
Hello. We went house stuff shopping
Hi herin and ruby.
I foresee ruby getting fireworks today.
Waves
hi ruby! hi herin!
Ata how is hobit now?
((everybody)) You really think so FM?
It hasn't happened since you helped me over!
sleeping :)
yup it is a nice friendly one today ruby
Yay for World Cup and the Tour is only 2 weeks away (or maybe 3?)
O come on Wank is a word
ok, not sleeping. staring at me from over on her chair
poor love
lol herin, roncook was saying the same thing earlier.
It is if you are an Aussie
pets
shoot
you call this friendly? I am coming up an almost total blank!!
how are you momn?
tired - cant wait to go home
damn it I just choked on my drink
random question. Is it Fathers' Day - as in the day for ll fathers, or Father's Day - as in the day for your father?
*gently taps ruby on back*
I think it's Father's Day.
day for fathers
MOmns I inhaled which was silly
An individual only has one father, you're buying a present or a card for one person. That's my interpretation.
LOL I never know which is "correct", but I suppose either is really. I just don't like getting the grammar wrong on the cards!
I'm not buying a card, I'm making one *smug*
its for your father or anyone you perceive to be your father
Then, just put - Happy Day, you!'
lol - that covers it
Sigh I am watching MasterChef just gave them the most easiest dish to replicate
or "Happy Step-father's day I suppose I should include you as a father even though I don't want to" :P
Actually, Happy Day, you' could cover all eventualities.
ooh, barb attached, ata
my step-father and I have never really got on ....
Can someone tell me how hard is Beef Stroganoff to make?
easy herin
ok, half!
So, you don't sing du5 together?
ty, haz
half way already ruby, there you go!
nooooooooo. well only shouted ones!
I am watching Masterchef and that was their challenge
lol Ata
I like the idea of a shouted du**
with Hobbit singing in the background
Does your mother have to act as referee, or does she just allow you to let off st5?
she always used to!
lunch now, see you soon
thank you for getting me started
Bye, ruby.
yikes, down to 24 - going too fast - what am I going to do with my day
I made the scrummiest meal on Saturday, bashed a chicken breast flat and then coated it in breadcrumbs with lemon, parmesan and garlic, and shallow fried it.
that sounds wonderful, FM!
Poor chicken breast. All your frustrations unloaded.
that sounds great
I cant wait to have real food and not hospital food
Mom, if you have nothing to do, you could help with my French taxes!
What did you have with it, FM?
I dont do my US taxes - thats what accountants are for - hehe
Baby leaf salad and green beans.
but for once, I drew him a really nice card for Father's Day so he'd better appreciate it!
Excellent - eating your greens.
we don't have to pay here (there's a treaty with US) but filling out the form, in French, is a bear!
He will appreciate it, I'm sure, Ata.
Im sure he will Ata
and of course you-know-who won't help!
Max?
how can someone not like hand made
Chows aren't fond of maths, it's all in their breeding.
he will :) we've slowly come at least to an understanding over the last few years. I'll never see him as a father, but I'm at least coming to like him as a person now
They find it had to count on their claws.
not like Hans, the counting horse!
MOmns haven't you got friends to crock pot food you?
And even with a calculator, their lack of paw-eye coordination is a problem.
Ruby can count to nine
Morning everyone. Ruby, didn't you JUST do your taxes like two months ago?
HI Jayk
I've learned a trick from Max, if I run away from him, he follows me!
Good morning, Jayk.
Im the one eating in the hospital caf - not the best but will get me through - we are hoping to go home today
*giggle* Haz
those were the US ones; now I have to prove to the French that we did those, a real nuisance
its all in the game ruby
Hi Jayk
hospital, momn? what happened?
hi jayk
Aha! Could have figured that out!
Momns why isn't someone caring for you? If I was there I would have made you a dozen ding meals
hmmm 2 great big army helicopters just skimmed the house. that was noisy!
so which is easier: that form or this grid?
my son collapsed - heat rate over 300 for a long time - waiting for cardiologist today to give us the word
I would say this grid.
heart*
oh, I'm so sorry to hear that! I hope it's OK, will stay tuned to this channel
oh thats nice herin
oooh Ata, the chinooks have been flying recently again.
(screams at Ata ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE trial run)
ell
at least the grid is in English -- sort of.....
my husband is home to fend for him and my daughter
these were Pumas I think
Momns my friend had a stroke at 28 and I made his g.f at the time a freezer full of ding meals and when he was in rehab a massive picnic.
Momns is there a church group that could help you?
Chinooks are much more exciting!
your friends are very lucky herin to have you
we havent called our friends yet - family yes but not many friends -
His g.f at the time I didn't like her that much and she told someone that she was suprised I would help to which I said à am not a total bitch''
They give me the same buzz as seeing Concorde fly over.
Momns it isn't hard for a family member to crock pot you something.
I guess I am just used to dealing....
Well Momns don't be afraid to ask. A sick child or loved one is hard
but never as much as a Vulcan :)
Oh thats for sure!
the word will get out today as my son is not in school - he had two friends with him when he collapsed - it was an interesting time at the ED with the kids - they were awesome actually - well they finally stabilized my son, they came up with playing I Spy on their own
How old is he?
Funny, I was just thinking about the Vulcan and wondering if it will be flying in any of the air shows this summer.
You really deserve an award for helping others, herin. If you were English, we could nominate you for an OBE :)
Hope everything turns out well Mom, it must be a very hard time right now.
the nurses got a big kick out of it - 13 year old boys, pimply faces, cracking voices, playing I Spy
Awwww Ata. Have always been taught if you can't give someone a tenner give them a hand.
Momns that is sweet
actually our Queens Birthday honors were announced today _ they were saying they were a bit light on women
Its the not knowing - my son is an athlete - has been for years - so why now when he wasnt doing anything to have a cardiac issue - we'll find out soon enough - he is stable, feels fine and wants to go home
Hello all
hi lyn!!
Hello, lynxxx.
Hi Lynxxx
need a cup of tea - brb
why do I keep looking for words even though I've finished the grid?
Hope springs eternal.....
I keep trying to see petal
I wanted mufti, but the i was in the wrong place.
I wanted panama
so did I. Constantly
Hi there lynxxx
but you did try mufte just in case? (like me)
mufti, not panama
yes, lyn, and muft
Hello Lynxx
hi FM, did you get any fuschias? (was it fuschias)
Lynxx do you watch Masterchef?
yes it was and no I didn't - there were none, so that gives me another excuse to head to the garden centre :)
I don't Infernal
You are not missing much
Hm....this is just what hego says, the small ones are bitter
OK it has gone 11am and I have done nothing but have fun in babble land. I must return to the real world and get on with work and stuff. Happy Babbling all.
Have a great day
bye dear!
Is Master Chef the one where yesterday there were 3 guys left?
I shuould go too and post this LOvely Card
It should have 'Lovely card, do not bend' on the envelope.
bye FM
loool yes, it should. Maybe I'll even add that :P
Okay, time for me to depart as well. Have a good day, everyone, and hope all turns out okay for Mom and son.
though "lovely card" does sound rather Father Ted-ish
*poofs for real*
Even more Father Ted 'A grand card, so it is'
bye Haz & Ata
Byeee!
bye FM
Bye Haz
Hi there all. Don't know what I'm doing yet...have had 50 minutes sleep....dogs demanded to go out and I wasn't able to get back to sleep.
Hi GA
Must go check on neigbors, they are moving to NYC leaving within the next two hours.
Hi there Herin. Hope you are well.
brb
I'm back...neighbors haven't left yet...wanted to give hugh to them and their adorable cocker spaniels.
Ruby, are you still on? Wanted to say "Hi".
Hi Peach - ruby went to go have lunch
seems funny being only 6:30 am here
Meant to say hugs back there.....I'm usually fast asleep at this time....I really would like to get my body clock back on track....but since I stay up until 4 or 5, it's kind of difficult.
Oh, Hi there, Moms.
how can you stay up until 5 am???!!!
Jayk, I sometimes just stay too long on Babble and then I try to read.....just have gotten to the habit of staying up, way too, late.
brb
Wow.

I tried wank even though everybody said it wouldn't work... :(
Ruby, what time is it where you are?
MOOOOOOOOMmy

{{{Herin}}} hello
1:30 ish PM, after lunch
Hi Mum how you today
hello again herin
He tore out his shrubbery and I think he wanted to finish getting it cut up for the trashman
did you watch the match? I was rooting for Australia, but my little prayers didn't help against the German machine!
so all is quiet now, but it is about time to start the day.
I am just fine Herin, and you?
here also it is 7 a.m the construction crews sit and clock watch and at the stroke of 7 am fire up the generators, bulldozers and jackhammers
frum
Just eating dinner
do I hv to go to the pb if it isn't a word?
add a P to that Ruby
no you do not
Crossy, I know that seems to be the rule here as well
I had that, but thanks. It sort of describes my basic wardrobe!
mine too, Ruby
everybody is so used to seeing my in black sloppy pants and a sweater that when I went to the local resto in my gardening yucky smock, they said "Oh, are you going dancing?"
:) Ruby
Ok I am going to be totally borring but who wants to see the new dinner set I bought today?
tell us about it!
would love to Herin
http://tinyurl.com/3438xc6 It is very similar to this but it doesn't have the silver on the handles
very nice Herin
http://tinyurl.com/378s52f and this but it has white not brownish rim
Got to love target stocktake sales
that is nice as well
I don't go to Target, I can never find anything that suits me
very nice, herin. They don't have target here, just Carrefour
I love the USA website for target
in my old working days, I did fitting rooms for the first couple of Target stores; used to go to Minneapolis once a month
that sounds interesting Ruby
I think manpie shd be a word, good use for ex-husbands
OK I have been watching way too many cartoons I swear I just read that as Metropolis
crossy,s eyes glaze over with discount stores lol.when i shop in a mall store,if i cannot find what i want in 5 minutes i leave;)
it was a great job!
that would be a stretch for Minneapolis unless maybe you added St. Paul!
how long have you been retired, Ruby?
Crossy I am on that idea too
8 1/2 yrs, but who's counting? I worked for a while after we moved to France, but the SA company "dispensed with" my expensive services
my mrs on the other hand will make a day of it pack a lunch and everything and orginize battle plans lol
silly SA.
I would have kept working, because I wasn't closse to 65!
I had some great jobs "in the day"
you are just a youngster then Ruby
so much to do in life to waste on work if you do not have to
now I tend the house, dogs, garden and cranky old husband!
no need to die in harness lol
I'd rather work and have my own money
do you work, mom?
i work, the wife cannot,my money is her money..we are one
I was single for so long between husbands, that I got used to having (and spending) my own $$
being married is more of a harness than working!
no Ruby I just tend to the house and my sweetie. Raised two boys and they have flown the coop.
anything we earn goes into a collective pot,we pay the bill we then look in the pot to see what odds and ends we can have
you sound both happy and lucky, mom!
i would be in harness with my wife again in a hearbeat
he is such a dear.
Ruby My dad is 70 this year and my mum is err 65 this year both still work. Dad does his carpentry jobs mum does volunteering with adults that need English help and
your son and fiancee look wonderful!
I am truly blessed.
yes, you certainly are!
thank you Ruby. He is engaged to a lovely girl
that is a nice testament Crossy
it's wonderful that we can share the good and the bad in here!
we shall be off for a drive later in the mtns, dig nature look at the deer and wild turkeys, reset our wa/chi/zen then a nice brunch of lightly scrambled eggs and a crunchy toasted bagel and a bowl of fresh fruit;)
{{{Ruby}} If wishes were realities, I would wish you a sweetie like mine
caught yourself a good one mom?
lol
Crossy, what is wa/chi/zen?
inner harmony
I did
ah
Ruby, how long have you been married?
you cannot be mad at your partner if you are in a sunny glade in the hills watching a momma deer feed her new baby
since Dec '97, but we've been together since '84
I can't imagine you or Elegant getting mad at each other
I'm B's 4th wife and it's no joke
lol,we have had our moments, several after 17 years
I am trying to find my dads work online
Ruby, just a year less than me. I married in 83
im sorry ruby sounds like your at a rough spot

my parents were married for over 60 years, but they're both now gone :(
my in-laws have been married 53 years!
Yes, but it didn't matter before
I loved being single
{{Ruby}} I am sorry. That's rough
mom and dad will be 55 in Nov.

hi NB
hi, Herin :)
hi NB. I'm in semi lurk and surf mode.
hello babble friends
I am pretty excited that the Harry Potter area of Universal is finally opening June 18th...
TRIFIES I sent yuo a message
did you? was it about tertiare?
Sorry I just had a stomach flip cringe moment at Glee. Yes i did
she is completely freaking out over going on the school field trip today - it involves a boat, of which she has a dread terror, and has since infancy. I just can't listen to her screech anymore. she is locked in her room, screaming, crying, gagging, the whole thing. the hell with this. She has a therapy appt later today. I think I am just going to cave in, because I SUCK as a mom, and let her sit this one out. it's not worth it
morning, Red :) do you know what the attractions there are gonna be?
No Trifs say to her that it is ok and she doesn't have to go
Well, they have recreated Hoqwarts and hogsmeade village,
it's not a failure, Trif; you can't help people if they don't want to be helped...I guess
Red I wish I could go
part of me agrees with you, and part of me knows that if I let her stay home, I am giving in to her fear, and teaching her that it is okay to let fear guide your decisions. but she is DEEP in fight or flight right now, and that cannot be reasoned with
you know Trif, she can be a successful adult without ever getting on a boat. not a big deal in the end. It's different if she has a dread of driving a car..
Trifs she shouldn't ahve to go on a boat trip if it frightens her so much. Now is not the right time. Pushing her will make it worse
LOL red - not so much in new england. some time or later, you just gotta get on a boat
No Trifs you need to negotiate. Tell her that you will do this together one step at a time
Nah, you really don't, but she will miss out of Block Island...
actually, it's george's island today....
I admit, I am not that fond of boats either, but certainly do not have a phobia.
Trifs in the grand scheme of things is it that damn important
I've never actually read the Harry Potter books...got crushingly bored halfway through the first one. Boy Wizards? No thanks.
no. it isn't. but a life lived in fear is a life half lived. at best. poor little girl
Trifs. Can she swim?
not to Georges island, no. can she swim in real life?? yes, very, very well.
I wouldn't say that Trif. Everyone's scared of something. I mean, jumping off a cliff onto a spike scares me. Will her life really be that much worse for never going on a boat?
Ok so there is an issue of the boat itself. so she can swim Maybe it is time that you too did it.
it's not the idea of the boat that is getting to me. its the idea that she is caving in to an anxiety.
pe
ma 7 clue please
male + afternoon drink + not me but ...
ty Kallia
yw
I guess I don't get your logic, Trif. If something scares you and you can still do it, more power to you, but...if you don't want to to something, and will be frightened the whole time, what's the point?
Lord Sake Trifs but it is no big deal. You can get the boat with her on the weekend. Bargin with her
but it's not like I'm the expert on parenting, so...y'know.
the point is, nancy, to face fear and not let it ruin the chance that we may get to do something great. yes, she will be scared on the boat, but once she gets on it, and sees that all is well, she may begin to have fun with her friends, and have a ball out on the island with her class, and see that she can face her fears.
at this point she isn't going anyway, so whatever. it just very upsetting, is all.
I'm biased I suppose - facing my fears has never, ever turned out well for me. My biggest fear was coming out...QED ;)
see, and I am someone who has let fear, or anxiety, or whatever you call it, ruin my life. I am afraid of so many things, and it definitely ruined my childhood. I am trying to nip this in the bud for my child
Trifs why can't you two go as a family?
I could go, and told her so. it didn't help.
trif, if there is an indoor space on the boat perhaps you can tell her she can stay there and not have to look at water. would that help? can you tell the therapist to work on this type of fear and anxiety? perhaps you should let this day go and talk to her about this later.
excellent idea annie! wish I had thought of that....
I'd best be off though. I have to go get mauled around by a bunch of nurses to check that my boyfriend's playing around hasn't had any sinister outcomes. *sigh* later.
oh god forbid.. I am sure it will all be well but go NB
oh nancy.....I am just heartbroken for you
Thank you NB for having respect in yourself and doing that.
Hi fellow babblers
HI beach
that's what I was afraid of for you, NB! The hell with him; lety's just hope that you're OK!
As for your daughter, Trif, we all have our fears, some of which are full-blown phobias. So what? As long as we can lead productive lives AROUND them, it just adds diversity. If your daughter is screaming and gagging in fear, it is wrong to make her try to overcome it so publicly. You and the therapist need to go at it very gradually -- small trips in a rowboat or on a little inflatable, nothing big, nothing public.
yes, I think you are right, ruby. its agony to see her like this.
and the minute i said she could stay home? silence
My husband is terrified of snakes and afraid of mice, rats and bats. So what? It didn't keep him from having a long and productive life.
I'm terified of tiny worms and maggots but can deal with snakes, spiders and garden worms. Who cares?
Trifs you sure that there isn't someone giving her grief in her year group?
is one of the words from the top right m a weird way of spelling what a cat says?
... and Fireworks!
I don't like flying any more, but still went to London for a party. Let her be.
congrats Merk!
ruby, i get what you are saying. I really do! my concern is that a lot of people develop anxieties and fears that absolutely DO take over their lives. What if this fear transfers to cars, and she refuses to get in a car? What will her life look like then? What if she gets some amazing opportunity to do something later in life, but it involves a boat, so she passes it by?
Just keep lines of communication open, Trif, let her talk to you about her fears and stay away from those things until she's ready
well, for today, the actual ship has actually sailed, so I think she and I will concentrate on doing fun stuff at home. I certainly am not going to punish her, in any measurement!
Trifs I don't drive so what is the big deal. I don't understand. Why can't you get her to go with you privatly
I don't think fears work that way. They seem to remain discrete, at least in my experience. Sometimes we even get over them. But being pushed really doesn't help.
I was afraid of snakes, reflexively, until I went to a favculty party, got a little tipsy and was handed one. That was that for the fear. Now I love them!
I was pee your pants afraid of cockroaches. I slowly got over it by going to the museum and facing the horrid bugs when they had a roach show
okay -- regarding today's grid -- I have fu6, in6, wi6 -- what am I missing, please?
Good morning all
eeeew. I don't like roaches, but am not afraid of them. They're just disgusting. Did you know the Japanese word for them translates as "oily insects"?
well, I guess I'm a loser, don't have any of those 6's trif. LOL
Hi Mr. Bob, what are you afraid of, chog wants to know!
Hi Mr Bob
my sister went to a de-sensitization class for her fear of dogs which helped a lot but she is phobic about roaches!
do you have hints for those 6's trif?
Ruby you heard of that movie Mimic?
no, what is it?
let's see - the fu6 is like the film director stanley, but change the first letter to an f, and then make it plural.
the in6 is not out, and what you hang posters on
the wi is the first four letters of a popular web encyclopedia site, and then the pixar movie where the house floats away
it is a very stupid movie that has cockroaches that get mutated to human size and they mimic humans really stupid b grade movie frightened me silly
sounds awful!
speaking of fears, poor Ruby is afraid of thunder and is sitting so close to me, that I can smell her breath!
Ruby storm on the way?
Chog, I have no fear of house and garden pests, except my wife.
hah
yes, big one I think, will it zap my PC?
we need the rain, but I could do without the rest of it
HI Bob
Ruby not sure
fireworks!!! woot woot
mornin babblers!
Oops, took off right after fireworks ... my grandson is here for the week and he woke up.
The timing was great. Congrats Trif.

hi, Eva and Sprite! nice to see the two of you :)
just started, sorry mkg
ok sprite. ty anyway
and...somewhat, Sprite. Though I couldn't help feeling very strange when he went off to work in the morning...which could be a problem
wi6 clue was given at 8:11 . . .
so how did "discussions" go this weekend, dearest?
you are a hero, Nancy Boy. It will take time. And rebuilding trust is something tough, though very worthwhile. I hope you are feeling a little bit better now.
ty will look back.
looked back but dont get it. i dont see a "c" in the grid for the wicipedia.............and dont know the movie at all.
Use the k
wisipedia?
not too bad thanks, Eva :) and I must admit, I slept much better last night. No more noxious sleeping pills and alcohol cocktails!
emur
ty but the movie.........will see what i can do.
Has to do with rising
ah good, Nancy Boy. I really hope you will take good care of yourself. You are worth it.
awww, Sprite, thank you :) progress is being made, I guess. although that may break down, depending on the results I get from today...
my couch and arms are always open sweets.
any more clues for the last three letters?
sweetie, never expect anything to go up in a straight curve... you'll be having ups and downs for certain. But I have a feeling the two of you are able to work this out. Huge love and hugs.
*realises she sounds motherly and apologises*
It's just the last two you need - definition is a native American lodge . . .
there's nothing at all wrong with sounding motherly, Sprite! A bit of mothering is what I need :)
rosalie still cant git it. darn.
but they have taken sooooo much blood! Can't they use the same sample to test for everything? I need that blood!
First four letters are the website ones - the last two are the opposite of down
ty got it now.
how about a clue for the ma 7 pleaes?
youll be ok, NB.
I'm beginning to think, hopefully, that you might be right, Eva ;)
ack kitty on my head
your body will replace the blood very very soon, Nancy Boy, no worries :) Lots of liquid (non-alcoholic) and veggies will help.
lol you've been through worse!
......who put that k in my grid all of a sudden?
you will be. one way or another, youll be just fine.
alcohol problems = user error
hello BabbleRabble, so good to see you again. And groannnn.... good one!

I think it's very clever.
thats my dads sort of humor...
his favorite anecdote to tell me growing up was how, in french class, whenever the teacher asked "comment allez-vous?" they would all answer "au bicyclette!"
lol
no smurf?
No. Enable is not fond of blue people with pointy heads.
tsk. While it accepts aliens.
Apparently they're les Schtroumpfs in French.
ah oui, c'est vrai. If ever a French word looked German to me, it is this one.
It certainly doesn't look very French, does it?

oh, no, not a beautiful late spring day here - more like early winter.
it's a gorgeous day here! finally no rain!
it is overcast here but no rain
lucky you. i've just turned my heating on.
I'm in the Bay Area [south of San Francisco] and it's going to be gorgeous
I'm in the middle of nowhere in Indiana
and i'm on the outskirts of Birmingham, in the Midlands
I'm in NY
I thought you were on guernsey
Where in NY Boo I'm a Brooklyn native
near the canadian border
no. i was born there and often go back. it's just the first name that came to mind when i had to put one into the registration box
northern ny
I'm visiting grandchildren, but I really live in the humidity capital of the NE, CT
It must be chilly in northern NY
I beg to differ... northern NJ is the humidity capitol of the NE... LOL.
yesterday it was 78 today it is 65
A bone of contention. We get all of the dirty NYC air channeled up into the CT river valley
You can have the distinction, I don't care.... but it sure is humid as hell here, for the most part!
it is a supposed to be summer but it will be humid anywhere
It's never humi here. It can get hot, but I find it bearable cause I'm not wilting
does anyone have the clue for wi6?
the humidity really stinks.... though I was in Florida last August... that was pretty unbearable.
if only i had, Mag, i've been looking for it for ever
this is a strange grid
Yes Florida is more humid than CT I never could get the attractioln of Florida, except if you are a snowbird
also looking for la7
well guernsey if I find it I'll clue it for ya!
Good morning, all. Alas, "Smurf" is not accepted.
It really is ridiculously hot down there.... I am with you... have not interest in FL
I know Judi... terrible... LOL.

I am a snowbird too. I am just here for the summer and a little in the fall

Wigwams are made of wood, tipis, bovine skins
wow, so much i didn't know. up to now i've found them all very useful words for wordgames without knowing much more
I loved learning about Indians when I was little. I wanted to become one
I've learned a lot about Native Americans because my great grandmother was full blooded Cherokee
i used to play cowboys and indians with my brother, but most of the information we got was from westerns on the television. i think we watched the Lone Ranger.
I was always disappointed as a child because all of my relatives were from Eastern Europe
Probab;ly not a very reliable source
Have you followed up on your European heritage, Bichon?
does anyone remember Roy Rogers and Tonto
I remember Tonto
Well she married a German and my dad's side is almost fully Scottish, so I'm really tan with strange red highlights in my hair! haha
Roy Rogers and Tonto were from different shows. Tonto was the Lone Ranger's sidekick
oops that's right
Tonto he talk like this
Dale Evans was Roy's sidekick.
Unless of course he had a thing going with Tonto on the side.

fworks still going!
Hi Crossy, did you go for your drive?
will be going in an hours or so,head up to this area in the forest i know.have to find a pretty flower for my ladys hair;))
you are so sweet
she has this long dark hair that runs to the small of her back,so it looks nice
is school out for your son?
not yet,next week i believe
he will be a senior next year?
they go late into the year. Schools here have been out 2 weeks now
gather lots of flowers and braid them together and make her a crown
he is in grade 9 now,so grade 10 for next year
ah, gotcha
i cannot braid, all i can do is find a flower that will not be too humbled by her hair and place it by her ear
how lovely Crossy
she is all bent out of shape by a few grey hairs showing up lol,i do not even see them unless she points them out to me
ahh st5/10 my favorite beverage holder;)
ah, gray hairs can always be covered up but I think gray hair looks nice
you would think that Crossy
well I have eaten my lunch, guess I had better get the ironing finished. Enjoy your drive Crossy. {{Hugs}} to all
tc mom:)

em4 = em + 1st initial of my name + pl
Sorry, not to the e words yet. Just started.
me4 - cat call
Hi fmitch and all.
Greetings stidgmere
thnx so much fmitch - jst 3 left now!
2nd te5 = take the non permanaent position and add a vowel at the end
oo - thnx again!
st5 = what comes out of a kettle when it is boiling.
oh it's the other st then - I've got that one!
yw word - whats left to find?
umm think of German beer holder
or beer vessel
How are you stidgmere?
hello, help with la6 pls
Hi peri - think of a sherrif
ty FM
or sheriff even!
Afternoon/evening babblers! I have 16 left, and feel a little stumped.
wonderful! pi 4 left for fireworks - got the colour, got the mispelt font, got the drink - wots the other?
Hi redturtlehead. Almost half way!
Hi red!
pina
oh man, i should stop!
Hello, she says from the PB.
word - take the misspelt font and change the end for another vowel
Shall we send you pinacolada to sip whilest you contemplate the grid?
lol stidg, I was just thinking the same thing.
You're a star Fmitch - you've given me my first fireworks for ages!!
te5/12 pls
Happy to help word and Congrats!
thanks for the offer, today is a water day, it's so darn hot here.
Fm great minds are often in trouble.
Its a pl peri
sheesh, ty FM
I know what you mean red, its 61 degrees outside and we're hydrating like crazy.
It is very pleasant here te4/6 wise
I hate small grids
wi6 pls
but is really quite a nice one today peri.
not for me
stidg, 61 degrees.....I dream of that. CUrrently we are at 95 whichi s like 34 C for those who are not using Farenheigt....I ran this morning and thought I might expire.
why did you run in such hot weather red?
We lived in South Carolina and Virginia, so I figure I get to go automatically to heaven.
wi6 = 1st 4 letters of the online encyclopedia + opp of down
Well, I had to run, so I did it. I didnt realize how bad it was going to be...it was only 78 when I ran but the humidity was 96%....
God that is way too hot for me red, and you were out running in it!
it was very unpleasant.
wi6? my last word
FM just clued it. thanks FM!!!!
yw red :)
ty FM missed your clue and ty red. did not see the u
fireworks
Congrats Peri!!!!!!
yay congrats peri!!!
now off to do laundry, don't want to but I will and then maybe take a nap
has anyone read the book: Shutter Island. very good. it is now a movie
byeee
HAven't read the book but the name does ring a bell, was the movie released recently?
Peri, the movie trailers look way too scarey for me.
... and she has gone.
hello again, 16 left and I just got several from FM's clues for the chog!
I am going to go and finish watering the garden, back in a little while.
Shutter Island got bad reviews, have no idea about the book
we just had a lovely rainstorm
Phantom Animal!
Hi ruby will be back soon so we can get you fireworks :)
hello kaplan!
hahah, FM
Hello ruby, just trying to finish up a word her and there.
hiya stidg!
Ruby, I want your rain. we are all bright blue skies, fluff for clouds and heat heat....awful.
it's perfect here, but then you'd have to deal with the DH!
and the tomato plants are fat and flowery!
and the newly-planted strawberries have sent out lots of runners, so next year, you're all invited for strawberry short tart
if anybody has them, I could use hints (pls) for left-hand i and k
I have one of each
the I is Not out and the interior supports of a home, and then plural it.
ruby, as I am not married to him, I imagine he might be a little different for me to deal with.
ty for the i! red
I'm sure he'd be nicer
k+ short sleep
the K i have is a ki 4, its ki plus an appreviation for Not Applicable.
or ki + the 1st 2 letters of the short sleep
thanks FM 10 left.
for a while at least he would be nicer...til he got really sick of having a guest.
strawberry party sounds great ruby!
he is always nice to guests!
I want some tomatoes. I love homegrown.
I'll be ready! From the way the potager looks, there'll be strawberries, raspberries and currants, all at the same time, plenty to go around and around!
yum! and in France!
the only tomatoes I'll eat, come from my own garden. The ones in the stores are awful
Oh nothing like eating a tomatoe still warm with the sun on it, the scent and taste is wonderful.
how bad is that? somebody has to live here!
I enjoyed Paris when I was there, but I've not really seen France, only a wee bit of Paris, and a big supply area in Bordeaux.
oooh 9 left.
wtg red!
red, if you watch the Tour de France, you'll get a good idea of the countryside. And last year, it came past my house and through our village (not a pictureque village, however)
14 left and I think it's hopeless, but it's nice to be here, anyway, and Japan beat Cameroon! How good is that?
Why is that good ruby (not up on who should beat whom)?
hello all
well, the idea that the little Japanese could beat the very large Cameroonians tickles me.
Ah OK Greetings stiddy!
Also, I have a very soft spot for the Japanese, having done biz with them for years and visited.
they are probably faster. Odd though I would have though Cameroon would have better footballers.
Especially with Eto'o!
but the Japanese were fast and surprisingly tough and the Cams looked disorganized
Sadly I am so typically American, barely paying attention to the World Cup..
if I had to pick one cuisine, it would be Japanese, believe it or not
but the Americans were wonderful!
and they tied the English
I think the opening game of the World Cup is probably overwhelming for some... thankfully it's a round robin first few matches so there is a chance for each t4 to get it together
sorry FM.... :(
I wish I could ignore it red but it is all over the TV as the time dif between UK and S.A is only 2 hours.
the English weren't bad, they scored so fast!
NP roby, we will recoup and come back!
I've been arguing with my nephew, via facebook, all week. He's become very English, no American allegiance whatever.
I feel I am a st** above most in that I am aware that it is going on, and that its a huge deal outside of the States.
we like football, don't watch it often, but it's WAY more engaging (to me) than the American Football
they scored fast because the Americans were too nervous at the start
IT is mad over here, 1 in 4 cars are flying flags, houses, pubs and buildings covered with flags etc etc.
one of our Dutch babblers (they won, of course) SAID THAT EVERYTHING IN hOLLAND WAS COVERED WITH ORANGE FUZZY WORMS!
the paraguay/italy match is about to start!!!
rofl orange fuzzy worms... *grin*
sorry for the caps, big pinkie strikes again!
need the left-hand i for NBT. help please?
I LOVE how the little kids walk the players onto the field, too.
but I hate the noisemakers
yes, gd night all, heading upstairs to root for Italy. And DH has no interest!
yes, the noisemakers are like having a beehive around your head
plus, I'm trying to listen in French
in + brick partition and pl for the 7
sweet dreams ruby (dorme bien)
thanks FM *thinking*
merci stid!!!
got them!
Bye ruby
fireworks
definitely more interesting that the pigskin game Stidmama.
YAY steve!
COngrats Stevedallas!!!!!!!!!!!!
congrats very quiet steve!!!!
Congrats steve
7 left now for me. Picking slowly.
rah rah Italy! It is funny that the French, as much as they dislike Americans, dislike the English even more.
Listening to the commentators was a hoot!
down to 20. not sure if I will list today or not.
I have all the time in the world...
They were calling the American goalie the orange giant!
((everybody))
I don't understand people who dislike others based on their nationalities... I can get disliking individuals, and I completely understand why a person might despise an entire government...
I wish I knew more spanish.french.italian so I could listen in on those conversations.
working off and on
even in sports I know there are differences in the way that events are reported
gee whiz. italian player down already
#22
oh, he got spikes in his shin. owie
I think, if I could play a sport (not competitive by nature) I would play soccer. Except I don't think I would be good at tackling the ball *watching players slide yards across the field*
left column grey!
I loved netball and hockey at school
I don't know netball, hockey might be fun, with enough bubble wrap!
netball is a bit like basketball ish
okay. I will go look it up, FM
As I was one of the tallest in the class I always got picked first for the teams for goal defence :)
Does anyone need any more clues otherwise I shall be off I think.
interesting! Australia, New Zealand and England have the top three netball teams in the world, according to the official organization. It does look intriguing.
It is a fun game stiddy and can be very fast and competative.
I am stuck on my last word. It is pi 4,9. I have the color, and the type, any clues for the third one?
I think I will hold off on clues for now FM, thanks. And thanks for telling me about this other game! ((hugs))
ugh, I hated netball :)
change the vowel at the end of the type one kipas
Good evening Ata!!!
hey Atalante! how's the bum leg? have been thinking about you and hobbit!
thank you so much Mitch.
Lucky says he is bored to tears and he wishes babble had never been invented. And he wants to know if hobbit can come play...
YAY kipas?
getting better! and Hobbit has *finally* I think stopped - um -
Haz put it in a very ladylike way earlier
YUP! Fireworks.
proceeding from both ends, I think!!
oh good re Hobbit, charcoal does work :)
Congrats kipas
ty
every hour through the day. Every Hour. and always just as I was trying to sleep!
oh, poor hobbit! I hope she's going to be okay. poor puppy.
Hope you both will get a good night sleep tonight then!
Don't feel sorry for her stiddy - I was going to say it will teach her not to eat things on the beach but she will ...
me too :) she ate something foul, stiddy *sigh* and she'd love to come and play with Lucky! She'd boss him around though :P
ew. ick. beach sick. *gag*
LOL
that would be okay. He hasn't been properly bossed since Buffy died almost two years ago.
twelve left now.
yes ..... and whatever it was, it was obviously REALLY nasty
Is it 2 years already - how time does fly by.
BRB
yes, in July FM. And do you know I still sometimes sort of stop and look for her? *shakes head* amazing how quickly and how completely a companion animal becomes a fixture in one's life
absolutely ...
Companion daughter, I'm signing off with 7 left and am on my way.
rofl. that is now the SECOND time I needed to enter a singular for a plural I already had!
hello Mother, will be ready when you get here ((hugs))
down to 6...
bottom row is grey, down to 5
go go stiddy!
would be easier with the list.
four...
yay stiddy!
hm. *frustrated mama look*
I need to run Lucky a little before Mother gets here. Will finish later.
(((hugs and choclits for all -- except hobbit))) see you again soon! *poof*
Bye stiddy
bye dear!
and I shall bid adieu too.
bye to you too!!1
Nighty night Ata dear!
Does anyone know how many words we need to find?
64, denise
thank you
small one today :)
I haven't done this puzzle much. I like the sudoku but I must be a numbers person because this is hard for me.
it gets a bit easier as you get into the swing of it
and start recognising some of the weirder words it throws up!
I hope so because I have 36 words and I think I am done. My vocabulary needs expanding
over half way, that#s pretty good for a "beginner"!
Thanks for the encouragement.
there;s not many people around at the moment, but there';s usually clues flying round the chat log and a very useful resource called lickety
if you click on "lickety's babble clues" under the grid in the "Friends of Babble" section, it'll bring up a list of first 2 letters of the words. Very useful!!
Well, I might have to come back more often.
you should :) it's a good place to be. and there;s a lot of names you'd recognise from sudoku
*steals Ata and takes her hostage for Etsy craft night meetup*
yes please!!!! that sounds sooo much fun!!
eva, say hi to a new recruit!
hello denise!
Hi, still on 36.
if youre over halfway on your first grid, youre doing quite well! small grids are surprisingly tricky.
I grew up with smurfs, why isn't that a word?
ahhh well, Eva, explain enable LOL
alas, proper nouns arent accepted. but see, Babble uses the Enable dictionary which is...erm, finicky.
me4,6 anyone?
Enable = unable. disabled.
Aaaahhhhhh!
cat noise, bethay
omigod - don't tell my cat :)
fireworks
lol was my last word too!
welp, gotta hit the road. meeting a friend from high school for dinner tonight! very excited to see her after all these years. :)

My daughter's name is Kemma and her godfather calls her Tea as in Chammomille tea - he thinks he is funny
My sons name is Graham, so crackers is a given!

when we told their godparents we were going to name him Graham and we might as well make his middle name Crackers to get it over with, their godmother said well, now you have your Tea and Crackers - and it stuck!

hello everyone
howdy ibd
lol, that was a while ago,i should look at the post times lol
hi crossy! i was beginning to think i'd had to go play some mah jong instead of chatting
new comic - must go look, lbd
hi kje
LOLOL! I HATE public toilets... I can hold it a long time if needed
lol
i need a diet coke - br
b
okay, will change the comic to a new one---still about public restrooms.
Oh, I love that one, lbd!
Hi all, briefly -- it's bridge night so I must dash off soon.
hi jilli!
hi jilli and jilly
i'm developing a severe dislike to cell phones. I get quite perturbed when a customer desides s/he would rather talk on the phone than finish a conversation/transaction with me. Am I suppose to wait for them to finish talking before telling them they owe x amount for their purchase?
hi ibd and a pet peeve of mine is TEXTING while carrying on a conversation with me... :-(
the thing is, it's people of my generation, not young kids! it's not multi-tasking, it's just rude!
Really is, whatever happened to telling someone you'll call em back!
hahaha lbd - I have never seen anyone talking in a public restroom while peeing
but wouldn't surprise me
what makes people think they can't live without the phone attached to their ear?
Sorry kje, but I've heard 'em in the stall next door
I've had it happen, KJE. really a weird experience too
People do it at my company all the time ..
I stopped using a bluetooth except while driving...one looks like they are talking to themselves!
well, they kind of are talking to themselves...in public anyway. i think it's just silly that people think they just HAVE to be on the phone to someone...and they talk really LOUD!! as if they have to yell in order to be heard!
enough of my venting...
i just got the cutest most comfy sandals in the mail
need clue with e...got the volcano, what's the other one?
em4.8, Jilly electro-magnetic Field Source
where'd you get them, kje?
zappos
i love zappos, best customer service ever
thx lbd
i tried shoes.com b/c i can get AA miles there, but they can't hold a candle to zappos
but i will say, zappos prices have gone up with their popularity
here are my new sandals
http://www.zappos.com/teva-ventura-cor k-2-plaid-blue
cute kje, Tevas are great, have had a pair almost 20 years now, held up perfectly
yes, good sandals, and comfy... but wanted something more stylish than typical tevas
well, mine are used for fishing/hiking in the mountains
oooh, those are cute
mine will be for walking in a city
luv that plaid is back!
hello all
yes, i love the brown plaid with a hint of blue
down to 4 earlier, listless, with one clue from FM...
hey stid!
*squints at grid* think I can do it?
hi stid
i made it to one stid... just sayin ; )
hi stiddy
sure you can, stid!
i had to go to the list for wi6
brb
thanks kje... LOL
wi6/48, stid - to become better informed via an online encyclopedia
thanks kje, was almost there! down to three now.

GAH. FISHY VOLCANO!!! (one now)
would have sucked to list for the volcano

firewords
whoooo hoooooo stid!!!
woohooo stid!!!!
thanks kje, finally got that last L....
LOL I don't know why I didn't try that. *grin*
choclits anyone?
YAY stid!
funny - i saw the ll camel before the la one
maybe I am just needing tranquility?
are you stressed, stid?
maybe the priest helped you more stid
where as I was hot and needed a camel - LOL
a bit, LBD. I need to re-write my self evaluation, and do a few other tieing up loose ends things.
also worried about elder stidkid
why
ugh, i hate self evaluations
and realizing that my life is upside down and not moving fast in a corrective direction
Just checking - whooohoooo
RIVER!!!!
uh oh, what's up with stidkid1?
it worked! *bounce bounce*
hi river!
hey - its a good day - finally home and new name - what could be better
related to the issues I emailed you about a couple years ago, LBD. Thought things were under control, and now realizing that he seems to be NOT where most kids his age are in terms of skills and responsibility. Worried about his future prospects, you know?
And the school has totally dropped the ball and so far I am getting NO response from anyone at the school despite first letters of concern sent out three weeks ago.
oh. in some cases, he never will be. but in others he will surpass his peers
Staying on top of the school can be a full time job. Contact the Special Education Office. DEMAND a response
here in montana, they are required to have a meeting twice a year to go over the progress/plan for special needs kids
mine was ADD
If that doesn't work contact OPE (office of public instruction) give them the layout of what has been happening and tell them you expect a responce within 30 days of the date on the letter.
For some strange reason, I thought public schools were obligated to notify parents when things were not right and start evaluations and interventions. I am absolutely going to do that LBD, and doing "summer school" at home for him because I can't wait for their turtle-slow responses. You know... If I had made waves in January (though I didn't notice anything amiss until March and thought at that point it was minor) ... *mama guilt*
Good evening to my fellow babblers! How is everyone?
By the way, congratulations to all the finishers! YAY!
thanks LBD. I will contact our local superintendent (we contract with a different school district for all high school) and also make waves. Thanks Jilly -- the federal law now says THREE times a year, but they seem to be ignoring students who don't have a previous IEP
hey Min! welcome to the grid!
no need for mama guilt. the school should have responded to his needs, but like most public institutions, they are short handed and things get pushed aside. I suspect that budgets were a major issue this year. not that that is an excuse.
but the federal stuff is clear that evaluation and identification is supposed to be for ALL students *sigh*
yes, budgets are very tight here. but it is NOT an excuse. And refusing to respond to parent emails is absolutely unprofessional.
no sleep in two nights - need to get to bed - good night all
nite river
gee River, sweet dreams and see you tomorrow ((hugs))
Goodbye RIverdance! I'll see you tomorrow in the log!
Federal law has precidence. PL 94-162 which changed when it became another PL number, but basically said the same thing, states that all children will be given a fre and appropriate education. The key word there is appropriate
nightnight, river
stid, I did find one had to be a pain in the neck, I also found a couple advocates in the system that went to bat for us
thanks LBD, that is what I thought... and I am certainly finding that we get attention ONLY when we make waves -- but they are slower than molasses in Antarctica in July.
Client Assistance Program thru Voc Rehab should be able to stear you to an advocate
on the other hand, mine has finally gotten his footing @ 27 and is doing VERY well. and don't you DARE do any guilt trips on yourself. You deserve a pat on the back for loving him and being an advocate
W's Waylayed! 2 left
go Min!
hi min!
Hi Jillyjill! You might finally be able to get FWs tonite!
Not tonight I fear, after great strides I am stuck in several needing only one...grrrrr
M's Mashed! 1 left
You don't think you will finish with only one word left?
sorry, not clear, have several letters needing just one more, have 16 lerft
*left
well, since I'm wanting to smack the computer, guess I'll take a break...back later Babblers! :-)
you can do it jilly. we're here to help
no sleep but still cant sleep so who needs help
why no sleep, river?
been living at hospital with son since Saturday
oh, that's right. how's he doing?
the day morning folks have seen me on - hospital gave me a laptop to use - so what do I do - of course - babble with friends
sorry, stidkid #2 had a questions
we came home today - he cant do anything - rest only until they schedule the cath - how do I keep my athlete down - he doesnt understand why he cant go to baseball tomorrow night or soccer tryouts next week - ugh!!!
how kind of the morning staff. and where else would you go? babble is more than just a word game!
River??? son??? sick??? *very concerned mama look*
yes she is getting lots of virtual hugs ((river))
how old is he, river?
quite a shock stid - my 13 year old collapsed saturday - heart rate over 300 for over 40 minutes - not good - transferred to PICU - thats where I have been since Saturday
oh River....
his heart electricals are off - they need to do a cathetization (sp?) but dont know when yet - on meds until then
hard to keep any 13 year old down let alone quiet.
this seems somewhat emergent river, and they can't schedule catheterization sooner???
you are so right lb - kept me going while in the hospital
what a difficult situation for you both. (((many gentle mama hugs)))
well dont get sick on a weekend - no specialists on duty
then come Monday they are all busy so will get back to me - stabilized so they dont care - this is a huge teaching hospital - very good hospital but....
*makes note, only get sick during business hours*
*makes note, don't need specialist care...*
so all those little quibbles we have - throw those out - I got home and daughter started in on me - I dont care - she is healthy
i would think as a teaching hospital that they would want to expose the interns to unusual cases such as his
NO. not a good hospital if they can't take care of their patients.
Keith feels great - doesnt understand why he cant play ball - this will be my challenge
oh interns are there making rounds - no one with authority is there
Can you bribe him with a new video game or DVD movie???
you may want to use some visuals or anecdotes to get him to understand that his heart has a short somewhere.
the folks working are great - nurses, interns, residents ..... but no one with authority to make a decision or do a test other than blood
time for a call or writing campaign to the hospital administration as well as a few choice board of directors.
he totally understands why but his energy level wants to go go go - I will have to put a lock on the trampoline and hide his bike....
its like that everywhere Lb - no action on the weekends unless dire emergency - they were ab le to stablize him in the ED and move him to ICU to make sure no further problem so why do anything else....
River, I think this is a case to MAKE WAVES.
do you have a family doctor? maybe he can "prescribe some limited activity" for Keith.
The American Heart Association has some short descriptions and illustrations/video of different types of tachycardia
I understand, I dont want to work weekends either but do something on Monday - we waited all day for the cardiologist and finally at 5 pm he showed to say he was being discharged and they woudl call to schedule the cath.. ugh
we have strict orders - no activity, no exercise at all, rest on meds, need to keep heart rate down
poor kid. poor mama.
Keith went into major svt's - danger level where your heart stops working. Example, a stress test will get you to 200 or slightly above - his was 322 at the max
Does your son "do" any of the social networking sites/games? What are his options for staying mentally interested while remaining stationary (other than video games?)
holy buckets!
we will find out whats going on and deal....Keith is doing great and understands whats going on - he just doesnt know how to sit still. We got home today and there was a BIG heart balloon with gifts from my neighter - all kinds of word games, playstation game..... he'll be OK
*mama hugs for River* golly gee.
now we need to get mama on an okay level so she can sleep
yes, he will be. And so will you. *strong mama vibes*
can you drink warm milk? My mother used to make warm vanilla milk for us when we couldn't sleep.
Or chamomile tea.
nothing worse than having a sick kid, especially this kind of sick where chicken soup aint gonna fix it.
A soothing bath always used to work for me...
For sure, it does not help either of you if you need sleep and aren't getting it.
lavendar...bath, tea or lotion...it's a nice calming balm
the heck with warm milk - I finally got to pour a glass of wine - that will knock me out but good - unfortunately have to work tomorrow
I will do calming stuff tomorrow
but thank you all so Much - I really needed you all tonight

OK.. gonna spend some time with the hubby. Good luck all!
I ate hot dogs w/cole sl 4/8 for dinner. Then finished the grid. Now I can do my story of clues. I wa 4/8 to write about baseball So here it is.My hubby loves the baseball te 4/5 The New York Yankees. I am not into basbeball, but if I had to pick a te 4/5 that I liked, it would be the Minnesota Tw4/8 because I used to live in Minnesota. But I think all baseball te 5/12 are paid too much! Hubby wa 5/18 me to be more interested in baseball, but I'd rather babble or go to the ma4/5. My husband hates going to ma 5/12. I think he takes baseball too seriously. He fu4/9 and loses his te4/5er whenever they lose a game. Husband sl4/5 his hands against the wa 5/18 whenever they lose a game. If I st 4/5 into the room to tell him something while he is watching baseball,he will put up his hand and say not now. Now I am going to get off my fat ru 4/7 to take a shower with lots of st 5/12. I will be back later on.
