hi george
oh yes, I deserve a halo ;)
got a snoring woman in my bed, ha! not been getting much sleep--dozed earlier then woke up to find her passed out on my floor!
hi George
and who would that be, george?
my m8 Christine, we were working together all day yesterday, was fun but exhausting!
hello flosey
I thought maybe a kittycat
a m8 of mine, does some work for me
kittycat, eh?
not feline, no, she's quite human
and quite safe, ha!
btw jilli, I forgot to congratulate you on your second place win last week - 1/2 pt out of first
ty flosey -- we sure didn't follow up last night!
well, we've all been there
didn't do quite as badly as I thought, though.
I have a feeling I would be pretty good at bridge
no doubt you would ru
give it a go, ruru
how do I learn though?
ha! just saw what ya said about deserving a 'halo' Jill! why's that, then??
find a teacher, get books.
either with friends ru, or you can take lessons
I reckon I should have one as well, 'St. George'? ha ha!
Audrey Grant writes very good bridge books ru
just because I'm such an angelic person, george, rofl!
yeah, right, if you are then so am I, ha!
you think I am, don't ya?!?
ummm... no
ruru, google the ACBL (American Contract Bridge League), find a club in your area, contact them and ask about bridge lessons.
thanks jilli.. I'll check it out
Of course you are, George ;)
ha ha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
When I think of St. George>. I think of cheese
I don't, I think of a dragon! and me! ha!!
I think of dragons
mmmmm cheese
snap, george
ooh! I just saw the sk8/70 word!! when I'm half asleep as well, yeah!
need the 2nd column i for nbt - clue please
nice one, george
yeah, ta Jill!!
which one is the second column?
ag6 is a funny word
iw 4 ursh I think
nm found it - a flower with a lisp
funny peculiar, funny haha, or funny damn silly?
ooh yeah, thanks for that, ursh!!
to me anyway jilli - funny damn silly
I should look it up before I say that!
had seen the word before, but forgot I suppose--didn't twig until you said that, never saw it!!
ursh to the PB (cl4)
oops sorry that is going to be a big pb drawcard
okay off to the penalty bed..
ha, yeah, everyone's gonna wind up in there!!

at least nimbus is.. or is that nimrod? I can never remember
okay i am off to pretend i am actually volunteering here
*wonders if ru is a nimbus or a nimrod*
*poof*
I can't remember any Palin names but Bristol.

YAY dart!!!
wow, wtg dart
I just passed half way
yay dart
how does dart do it?? must be such a genius?!!
there are some i haven't ever seen before....was happy to find the mi 5/6 combo before lickety
dart, I patted myself on the back for those too <smug>
wtg jilli......i always think of these words together...meow...miaow...mi5 in this puzzle
forgot miaou too
oh yeah, Jill, funny you should mention that, cos I was playing scrabble a few weeks ago online -- well actually it was yahoo's version, called Literati, when this f***wit accused me of 'cheating' for putting down the word 'miaou' spelt that way, which is one of the possible spellings, commonly seen here!!
yeah, nothing like showing your ignorance, eh? that's what I said to him, ha!
good for you, george.
he resigned on me right away, saying 'wtf!' ha!
then proceeded to give me an earful, well eyeful, so I blocked and booted him from my table!
after telling him that............
but I bet he'll use it in future George! lol
oh yeah, probably, but you know how some folk are in those games, eh? you must be cheating if your beating them!!
I prefer playing Lexulous in facebook with people I know who won't behave like that
George, how do you block someone from your table? I play bridge on yahoo and can boot but don't know how to block - we have a few table wreckers in Yahoo
yeah, well I do meet up with my brother Kevin or sister Siobhan for games on there, we play Literati, sometimes two or the three of us, or we play with different mates who play as well--better that way!
didn't realize Siobhan is your sister George, lovely lady
I haven't tried Literati or bridge on Yahoo. Scary.
oh yeah, that's easy, flosey -- just double click their name in the list on the left of the chat under the table there, then when the little box pops up, you'll see a little square to put a tick in, to 'Ignore' them!
Literati's good, it's yahoo's versioon of Scrabble!
I realise what it is, it's Yahoo that scares me.
yeah, flosey, she's the baby of us all and the only girl!
thank you George, will try that in future - one fellow, in particular comes in, bids 7 no trump and leaves
hics should be a word. Hiccups cause hics.
oh yeah? well I'm afraid I don't know anything about Bridge so don't understand that, but if he's causing you bother then yeah, you can iggy him but all that does it make it so you won't see anything he says!
if you don't want him at your table, you will still have to boot him out of it
sorry, he just overbids when the opponents have a good game bid
yeah, well that's allowed though isn't it??
and iggying him won't stop him doing that
at least I don't think--never seen the game?
iggying?
yeah, 'ignoring' -- clicking 'ignore' to send him to the 'iggy bin'! ha!!
that's the slang lingo for it, they use in the games
ok, going to try next time
if you don't like the way he plays, flosey, don't have games with him -- you don't have to agree to play with him, do ya??
warnings -- don't ask for a cl4 and don't talk about using Lickety's li4
I don't have any problem saying 'no ta!' when someone I don't want to play sits at my Literati table!
oh, we always boot, but he keeps coming back - once we have a full table, we can make it private
yeah, ha! bet the penalty box is full up this morning?!!
lol, thanks jilli, didn't have the second one
need 4 more words for half way now!!
ruru made it a penalty bed <nudge nudge wink wink>
lol jilli
wtg george!
well I'd keep booting -- actually didn't think they could come back, once you boot them from your table? At least not to that game or session?!?
trust ru
ooh, did he now? any gorgeous fit blokes in there?? ha!
Yahoo has asked players to report unpleasantness
yeah, sure they have Jill, but where exactly's this 'report abuse' button they say you should use, cos I've yet to see one?!!
oh sorry, was you that said it, flosey!
that's how tired and not awake I am, dunno how I'm finding words!?
yes, Jilli doesn't play bridge online
I email them George
oh yeah, I see
half way now!
they do respond, but advise you to become "all star" - which, I think, is expensive
wtg George
wow, george!
don't see any advantage to that, so never done it
and actually I've never been asked to do it!
I'm sleepy at the other end of the day, only found 98 words so far.
I've had very little sleep all night, what with Christine snoring beside me, ha!
I'm very tired tonight but hoped to get more than this, we're going to Nanaimo tomorrow, meeting with a group of Hubby's old H.S. grads
she's up now, we're gonna be busy again today
will probably be late coming home
have fun, flosey!
thanks jilli
we were filming yesterday, for a new doc, but it's top secret so not saying what it's about or anything, ha! it was fun, went to Eltham to my old school, met up with some old school chums there who I've not seen in that many years as well!!
I wonder which mi5/6 dart was talking about -- I see there are lots of them in Lickety
they weren't gonna permit me to film there at the school at first, was very upset, then they finally granted us permission to go in!
George, my dad went to the Eltham College for The Sons of Missionaries.
I only have 6 mi words
oh yeah?
sounds like fun George, will we get to see it?
me too, flosey, and happy to have seen the first two.
well my school is the Eltham Green Sports College
first one I have is a measure of distance
Eltham Green when I went, now it's focuses on sports
It seems there are several Eltham schools.
well if you can from there, yeah, once it's finished
yeah, of course
I'm talking about the first 2 mi words in Lickety
I was born in Eltham and grew up partially there, first several years of my life, then we moved to Woolwich
don't have them, jilli
do now!
good for you, flo :)
I'm just too tired, off to bed, goodnight all
g'night flosey, have a great day tomorrow
99 words to go, maybe have a chance in the morning before we leave
yeah, I had better get busy here!!
well done!
thanks jilli and happy babbling
this is too bloody addictive!
it is indeed but we meet so many great friends
hahah!
what's so funny??
addiction, lol!
morning all
yeah, well you know what a problem I have with that, ha!
something we can't re6/18
yeah, it's morning all right!
hi katie :)
fireworks
YAY anike!!!
TY - I'm going to do some cutting out - need to make myself some clothes. Happy babbling
happy sewing, anike!
there are some nice words here we don't often see
the ch6/27 and the ch7/40 after it are odd words, is that when 2 of those little clay animals covered in herbs get together and, well, you know?? ha!
oh, something more growing out of the ch4s?
yeah, ha!
sorta climactic, ha ha!!
thx, george, gottem!
can't cl4/6 you any more than that!!
yeah, good!
that was enough, ty
I suppose ch6,27 is like when one of those is a cat and makes sounds, sorta, minus one typical vowel!
I thought it was me in a bottomless pit
eh?
think about it (cryptic clue)
like it, jilli!
I'm talking about the first ch6/27
thanks, kanga ;)
ah, george, you were talking about the second ch6/27 -- got that too now
oh yeah, think so?
yeah
ok, I've had it for tonight -- bedtime. 129/95.
night jilli
ha, Jilli, look at the update I've just posted on my Twitter and Yahoo pages! it's cos of those ch4 words in this grid!!
ok, george, then bed for me!
oh blast, I typo'ed 'raisins', ha! too tired!!
Happy babbling all and *poof*
g'night jilli
g'night jilli
good night, Jilli, sweet dreams to ya! xx
still here, Jill? found 'em yet!?
86 to go - see y'all tomorrow. Goodnight, all.
morning all
morning Sprite
Hi Sprite.
hey lyn, hey sally :)
morning Sally
Finding this grid a bit slow today.
can't say anything intelligent about the grid yet, but the Ks were fast for once
Yes, have the Ks, and some of the others have been really nice, but have slowed down now and not even half way.
sounds like a tough one then
Not for you sprite :-)
I am listening to good music whilst I peck away, past halfway but no big ones yet
you better believe it, for me too. Sounds lovely, lyn! I see someone I have not met in this chat, George. Is he a 'new' one or only new and improved?
eh?
no, hardly new at my age!
He was around a bit a year ago when he first joined, I remember a he was a raw foodie
hello George. New to babble or back from a year ago?
yeah, just enjoyed a semi raw breakfast
George meet Sprite, Sprite meet George
not back, ben babbling on and off
just don't normally get much time for any of this!
Think sometimes it depends when you are on, sprite. Sometimes I am on but not chatting so I "know" people but they don't know me!
hello sprite
make that 'been' -- can't type for toffee! good job I hate it, eh? ha!
*flop*
nah I seemed to have a memory of a George, but had not seen you in a while.
hiya Ata :)
Hi Ata!
morning Ata
it's hot here already!
Wasn't on at the same time as you a couple of days ago, Ata, but I'm sure you saw that "Tardis" was in the grid.
yes here as well, it is an unforgiving summer ;)
I did! I did!!
but not valid :(
hehehe cuties in your icon, Ata... at first I thought it was a dog poo!
LOL! POor meerkats :D
aren't they adorable!
absolutely!
I went up to LOndon Zoo last week and stood watching them for about 1/2 an hour!
they always look like little zorro's to me
they do! little masked bandits
did Lickety go to the PB today?
Because he was giving cl4s?
I am sure I have told you the story but it bears repeating. Our oldest department store in Melbourne has large display windows (much loved for their Xmas displays). When our Zoos meerkats enclosure was undergoing huge renovation, they put the meerkats into the display windows for a few months. Everyone - including the meerkats! - loved it. The meerkats seemed fascinated by all the people passing by a few feet away. No expense spared ... they had their usual surroundings
just like Terra, I can watch them for hours too
really????! how *wonderful*!
that's a fabulous story, lynxxx!
oh that is such a wonderful story, lyn.
That's lovely.
Bet the zoo felt very boring for them after that!
he said the plural of cl4, anyway
not sure if plurals count
hi Grem
hi
I would think the people in Melbourne would demand the meerkats would be back every year :)
I found a Muslim in the grid
ishmail?
"lumpia" is a word
I'm sure someone's tried "hotmail"
lol
everyone will now :P
Doesn't work - but what do you expect :-)
I found a Spaniard (in the Works?)
Miguel?
I found him too
Yep
phants: muesli, samshu
miasma, climate
and sugar
and miasma
phants: osmium, holmium
take off the A
thanks!
wow. who knew? well, you obviously
Ata, did you take Hobbit to the zoo?
I wish :P Nooooo, no dogs allowed, she would have had far too much fun chasing all the birds!
phant religious
hi Jayk - are you up early?
aw too bad :(
very early. ridiculous
hi Jayk!
morning all, through the gloom of night
check your email, spritey :P
I got up at about 4:30 PM - I don't know if that was late or early for tomorrow
couldn't sleep. subconscious at work. very exciting day: husband off for NINE days and i have the whole house to be ALONE in!!
hope you have both had enough sleep
I had stayed up all night and went to bed at 10 AM
Uninterrupted Babble!
phant ramilie
so what's lined up Jayk?
also i can have liver for dinner
phant melismas
Just found a lovely sk 8 :-)
!!
liver ... nice .... lol
<--- revile liver
I understand, I love liver but OH doesn't.
oh so much!! replacing significant amounts of furniture and throwing away three years of old Newsweeks. For starters. the man has hoarding tendencies
(liver = evil)
Esp lambs' liver done in casserole with tomatoes and bacon.
probably your mother cooked it to a shoe leather state gremlin
never had lamb liver--can't get that here
Never had it, I just wanted some easy palindromes.
So what liver can you get Jayk? Find it fascinating what different countries have and don't have.
calves or beef
learned a few new words in this one (including first mi7 and the mi8)
sounds nice, the house to yourself for 9 days!
of course chicken livers as well
Calves liver is good too. I do a pilaff with chicken livers, or pate.
other one I learned was the seconed ch6/27
gremlin, what is your gift?
someone's birthday today?
i mean for babble
I am fairly good at memorizing the words
do you have a photographic memory?
"fairly?" something of an understatement
no
"Lumiere" in there, just a name and not a word
actually, it's a French word too
and used to be a standard unit
Good morning Babblers
Hi red. you're up early too
hi red! you might want to spell check your profile :P I don't think you meant "Sara is fast, so fat"
hiya red!
running in Florida in the summer, its already 80 deg with 91% humidity!
Hi Jay! and Sprite.
Oh crap. thank you Atalante,
:P
hehehe fun typo. But quite the sport's hero, red, good one!
I'm a big Sara fan, she was my first friend here in Florida.
that is very special
I was going to go with some of the older more traditional ones, then decided to be original.
how do you spell homile - you know the mini-sermon thing?
I am trying again to participate in the icon themes more regularly.
I love it, red.
Hi Gort, I think it is with a y.
hi gortmold!
it's a good choice!
heya sprit, red, assorted others
hi Red & Gort
lynx!!
Yes and for one day my icon matches the words.
Hello Gort and lynxxx, wow I get to see all the Aussies!
must be a dodgy night on the telly, cos here we all are
or avoiding all the election talk perhaps, or MasterChef even
it is as red said, homily.
ahh, thanks sprite and red
i thought masterchef was all over now
Ahhh, and we have Mu**** in the grid very appropro for a theme day on atheletes.
probably is, didn't watch the local one
oddly, you can't have mu***ier, and yet i know people who are mu***ier than thou
maybe because we cannot be mu***y
yeah, gortmold, noticed that!
a gymful of them in fact
ok I must go now, see you all in a few hours...
bye red, take care
Bye red.
bye Red
i bet my biker bro-in-law would say you can be mu***ly, and who would argue with 150kg of tattooed biker?
not me!
wise woman, sprite, you will live long and wordfully
my son though... he might. When he was about 4, he looked at a skinhead in the supermarket and told him out loud: "You don't have any hair!"
then he looked at the man's arms and said: "And you need to wash your arms better too."
looooool
awesome, sprite, and he lived to tell the tale?
rofl sprite! Hope he doesn't try that when he's 24 instead of 4!
lol no
did you try to explain it to the skin head as a touch of turets?
the guy was a great sport, he said to my son: "You don't have much hair either, but at least you are cleaner than me."
Good for him sprite!
article in the paper this week about bikers trying to clean up their image...one bar brawl at a time
I spent my late teens and most of my twenties with a gang of rock'n'roll guys and we got along pretty well with most bikers. So I know a lot of them are nice people. But I was very glad we had not run into somebody agressive.
ooo rock and roll sprite!
iii wanna rock and roll all niiiight and babble every day, iiii...
you got it!
about the only time in life I spot 'umiak', it is a phantom
is that what a moose says when it vomits?
it is what an Inuit canoes in.
if I am not mistaken, lol
my apologies to the entire indigenous canadian population (but mooses could possibly vomit into canoes, couldn't they?)
I think I like gort's definition :P
personally, after having seen moose, I think they can do about everything they want
lol sprite, 150kg bikers and chundering mooses - they get R-E-S-P-E-C-T!
I might try to argue with a biker, but never with a moose
they look docile, but i gather they get stroppy if you get between them and a juicy clump of pond weed
and that's just the bikers! (ho ho ho)
*quickly hands over all pond weed*
lol sprite, you really will live long and weed free
lol gort
weed free? Tell that to my garden!
*sending moose round to sprite's garden to deal with weed*
guess I better get all marihuana out of the garden before the bikers follow the moose for weed
lots of mu5.18 will help with that (couldn't resist just found it)
* moose gets addicted and loses interest, gort sends biker*
lol lyn, good one
*biker goes potty (very droll, gorty), gort sends lyn with mu5s*
lyn is always welcome. Tea or coffee, lyn?
Tea I think, have just had dinner..thanks Sprite
*hot fresh cuppa coming up*
is it just me or is the grid loathe to relinquish its goodies?
anybody else trouble with greying out the leftmost M? I need one more and I am out of options.
It isn't just you :-(
not just you, gort, it is a slow one
you are way ahead of me Sprite
ahh thanks sally, sprite, the fellowship of suffering
did you get the donkeylike one, sprite?
Usually with a grid this size, I can romp through the beginning.
yes, 3 of them, right?
yeah, how bout the french version of the mi5?
me too, Sally. Not this time, slowed down before halfway
or the german cow juice?
Have you got the squashed up peas one?
one german cow juice, 2 french mi, plus a latin looking one and its plural
or the garden fertiliser? or the many legs on a caterpillar
ty for the caterpillar legs:-)
german cow juice! LMAO!
yw
not sure about the squashed pea one! How many letters?
4
what about the 3 wise men who have a noodle company named after them?
You would add the sometimes vowel to make the peas.
oh no, sorry, that's the other m
oh, ok yes, got it. Thanks for trying all! Will finish the other tiles and then ask for the length :)
You have the mi8 Sprite?
yes, the italian looking one, lyn?
yep
hmmm, gorty hunts frantically for italian miliasmo, no...
very close, gort

Starts with Frasier Cranes brother
praise be to saint tagliatelli, i got it! thanks lyn and and sprite

Hello

hi Infernal
how you?
h herin
How goes you?
not too bad today, you?
I applied for a job today
you are not throwing in school are you?
No.
It is an admin job. Haven't thought that far ahead
what kind of job and how many hours?
It is full time. But there is all sort of incentives for employers to hire student
ok the missing M is now the final word, it is M7. I already have the french plural centre.
Admin job
I hope you will keep your study as 1st priority, lady, you are doing so well!
It is Sprite. There is only 14 weeks left
good :)
well I got the top Pi just from monleying it
can anybody help me with the other M7, please?
Have just started sorry
wouold if I could!
lol ok, a2z to the rescue then
ditto
You don't know how reassuring it is to us mere mortals that you occasionally resort to a2z sprite!
lolllll of course I do! Have been looking for that word for ages.
ow ok there it is. Shall I clue it?
yep!
it is the german cow juice word, extended to a jewish adjective. It ends in the last two letters of not small.
wow
new one for me!
yes .........
Ata you must enter that comp
"cow juice"...bleurgh!
I wll :)
hey Nancy Boy *hugs* How are you in total and how is your ankle?
NB hugs
Mornin', Sprite :) Ankle is alriiight, but the nancy boy himself is the level of hungover that requires sunglasses to look at the computer screen!
Jesse, messy
hehehe glad the ankle is alright, and no pity from me for hangovers :) Drink more water in between drinks and you won't have that problem.
snort NB. you goose
It's not been letting me sign in for the past hour or so George :S
anyway, a2z gave me my fireflies today. Bye all, thanks for the fun :)
Ooh, I'll try yahoo!
well keep trying, you might get on
bye Spritely
yeah, I'll let him know!
Oh, am I missing J? Thanks, George :) if you'd let him know I'm logged into yahoo, I'd be very grateful!
NB I also suggest that you check your Yahoo status updates. I can see them. Good knows why
How'd you find my Yahoo page, Herin? I've never posted the link here.
I have no idea
I have hidden mine but I can see yours (don't ask me how I have never ever searched for you
150 down for me. Night all
But then how did you find me? I prefer to keep these things private, and many of my friends on there like to keep it that way, too.
probably the spies :P
I have no idea NB. I would check your settings. I would not repeat anything any way. It is not my business nor directed at me so I haven't paid attention
NB I noticed it the other day and haven't had a chance to say anything
hi everyone
Hi Sandy
hi herin, when do you finish your study
November
Applied for a job today
fantastic, you must be so proud of yourself, I remember when you started
Thank you Sandy. It feels like forever sometimes
you will never regret it, well done
I want
opps wont
fireworks here, last word was sk 5/18 DERRRR!
lol gran, I do have that one and well done
ty sandy...for the life of me I couldn't see it...lol
I am really bad at finding the four letter words....
don't forget the iw 4...got it first up today
gd morning, I just wanted to stop in and say "hello"
Hi Diz
will come back after lunch
ello ruby
hey herin!
hi ruby
Hi ruby! But I won't be here after lunch :-(
hi sal
Hi sandy. Was deep in the M words and didn't see you there :-)
that MI 8 is a bugga..
Am on second day of my new health regime - only one mug of real coffee in the morning, and then water. Not doing much for my brain power.
Withdrawal symptoms :-(
oh and so is the MI 7...for me anyways
how hard it must be to limit the coffee! I only drink it in the morning, but it is double or triple expresso and perks me up for the day (or at least half). Will jump in later, off to lunch!
ello to you diz grannie!
Hi Rubby
Hi Dizzy
herin, 5 more sleeps and I'll be in Tassie. g/kids are counting..
awwww cute
LOL I only drink instant coffee with half a teaspoon of coffee - when I go out i have the real stuff - I am a coffee bogan
Instant is horrid
gran are you going to Tassie on holiday, and have you been before?
I know Herin, all my friends scoff at me
I would not be on a diet that limits coffee unless that involves me killing someone for mot drinking coffee
Sandy, dtr and g/kids moved there 18mths ago, went down last yr - loved the place. If it wasn't for other dtr here me an hubby would mve down there.
mve = move
diz, have heard lots about Tasmania here in the States. Would ove to go
HI Bichon
hey Herin
we drove around Tassie once , I loved it so much, yummy wine, yummy chees, nice walks, lots of history - I love tassie
yummy restaurants
I'd like to see wildlife
hmm, saw lots of dead wombats, but not much wildlife, I think the forrests are too thick and the wildlife hides there
Wild life there is that. My parents have wallabies on their property
we had a huge kangaroo in our paddock the other day
where would you go to see devils
there are places that have them in captivity
they are fierce little things
Our jack russel is out trying to catch bandicoots at the moment ,we are trying to get her in
here she is , bandicoots are safe!
Bichon devils are rather rare. They have them at Wildlife parks
no devils or wombats in west aus
Yes, and they have a terrible disease and may be all wiped out
what is a wombat? Is it like a devil?
Devils are native only to Tassie. No wombats are marsupials
Wombats are well brick shaped on legs
they're cute looking
wombats are fat and furry and have short legs
They are. My friends have 2 on their farm named Buster and Keats
Evening everyone - I see we are having an Aussie wildlife lesson:)
Hi Day
We have several tame and semi tame kangaroos on our property - two of them we raised from Joeys and they are now all grown up and have wee joeys of their own - teeny ones at this stage and not out of their pouches but we are waiting with bated breath to be fur grandparents!!
awww Day
Oh you are so lucky .... thats sounds amazing
"Roos are really affectionate when they are hand reared, they come home every day for a cuddle and their wheetbix and then spend the rest of their time in the bush
Day that is pretty damn cute
it is amazing Norma, it is such a privilige to be so trusted by wild animals
Bah I wish my b.f wasn't sick he is driving me nutso
HI Norma
whats the matter with bf herin?
nasty cough thingy. Woke me at 6am not breathing well. Freaked me out
ewww.. not nice
ewww.. not nice
No it isn't on the place side one hour of rapid warming house
opps Plus not place
does he need hot lemon drink? or do you need a stiffer version?
He is allergic to lemon
hmm
so maybe you could use something stiffer herin
Nothing in the house
{hugs} for herin - looking after a sick bf is no fun
Hi everyone .... sorry I am a bit late responding I am 'concentrating' lol .... the only wild animals we get in our garden are our two cats .... that is the problem with living in a town and not out in the country ... you are so lucky day
lol Norma. Badgers, foxes, wild ducks, tame hens, tame(ish) cats here.
Not so far any wallabies though.
Oh! and grass snakes :-)
Lots of frogs, toads and newts as well.
Day I have more pressing concerns my father is having surgery on Friday.
Oh so sorry to hear that herin - do hope all goes well. Worrying time
He will be fine. Leg op and crutches and pic line for 6 weeks. Going to be mums pain in the arse
what sort of surgery is he having?
pic line?
It is a catheter that they put in to deliver antibiotics.
oic ta
Must be off. Talk to you all later perhaps.
Sorry to hear about your Dad herin.
bye sally
Bye sally
It will be good. Bye Sally
herin I hope all will go well for your dad
I have to go now - talk later
I hope so too.
peripherally inserted central catheter is what PICC stands for
hi, all. I just got an e mail confirming that the proof copy of my book has been shipped and is on it's way to me.
Hi Angel. O WOW. YAH
I ordered the proof yesterday morning, and it shipped last night
Weeeeeeee
https: //www.createspace.com/3402609 here's the link to view the front cover of the book. remove the space...
Well done
hello everybody
about to jump in; the idea of tame kangaroos is enchanting!
I am sorry for all your troubles, herin, and all piled up at the same time.
tell B.F. to "Get a grip"
Ruby it is because he doesn't stop for five minutes
mornin babblers!
whiskey, honey and hot water! (lots of whiskey!)
hi everybody, again
We don't have whiskey
Hi Eva
hello sandy again
any alcohol?
nope
Well I have a witches brew he wont touch.
put in enough honey and maybe he will. It would certainly settle his cough
daykat are you still here?
I want a knagaroo for my garden!!!!
hi sandy i've just come back
I would love too but he is just snotty
kangaroos are nice as babies but not suitable pets when they grow up
ruby I can send you a picture!
let him sleep on the couch
please! daykat
male roos can be quite aggressive
nelliekelley50@yahoo.com
how big are they
e-mail address will disappear soon, I hope.....
they vary Ruby, but when they mature they often become aggresive
we used to have baby joeys on the station and they were so gorgeous
bigger than 100 lbs?
female roos less so but they are very touchy and flighty, we dont try to enclose our girls, they are totally free to come and go as they please
male roos can get >6 feet tall, and very muscular. females are smaller, dont know how much they weigh really
daycat, sorry i left in the middle of our conversation yesterday but I had a phone call, I see you are on 18 acres - how fabulous and I see that Liz is a teacher - I have a daughter who is teaching in Broome
it's nice that they are tame enough to come around, but they are bigger than I realized. 6 ft tall is scary in itself!
they have dangerous claws on back legs - the males can kill a dog with their back legs if they are angry or cornered
we used to keep them in a pillowslip on the end of our beds and feed them with a bottle
we dont have tame males - too unpreedictable, the only tame-ish ones we have are females.
There is a sanctuary nearby where males can be safe
that is too cute!
when they show kangaroos on FR TV, I think they romanticize them and make them seem more gentle than they really are
yes sandy - we used to carry ours around in shoulder bags!!! One of them even came to our daughters wedding in her bag as she was still being fed every few hours!!
best word so far: mu6/27!
rubyfoo I've just emailed you a couple of pictures
thank you, I can't wait, and I'll forward them to my Fr friend whose daughter is obsessed with kangaroos, even spent a year in Australia, after college, to try to see them
as babies they are very gentle rubyfoo, but can be ver flighty and b=nervous when they are bigger - you have to respect them
without success, lol
there were some pics doing the round of u-tube a while ago of a roo in a cage in an american city - cant remember which one now, and the pics we saw indicated a severely stressed roo - they can die very quickly from stress
night
that is horrible!
theyre not supposed to be caged.
and yes mu 6/27 is a great word!!!
and now I'm going to watch a program o the telly so I'll talk later
night, hein, maybe you should drink the withc's brew and honey and hot water, and then you won't hear the coughing!
ave a good night everyone
I had a friend who, when her babies (11 mos apart) were small, used to take the paregoric prescribed for them herself, when they went on car trips -- she didn't mind their fussing....
paragoric=opiates
ok i have been forced to do dishes (daughter from broome is here and she is a clean freak) but now I must go!! bbl
I didn't know how to spell it, never having used opiates myself (lol)!
{{sandy}}
I don't kniw if it is spelled with an e or an a, but it was one of the many forms of legal opiates incorporated into medicines before the Narcotics Act
and they gave it to fussy babies in the 60's
sandy tell her to do them herself if they bother her
hi all
hello jmc, I agree with you!
or give her some paregoric to relax! lol
skirt
whoops
ooh zelda and dobie!
sorry, got all excited when I saw jmc! :(
[blush]
94 hard-earned words and time for the IHT and a lie-down
{{everybody}}

*tucks ruby in*
what are you volunteering to do over there JM?
Morning all
gm bob.. pretty quiet around here
Clue please for mi 8/50
morning bob!
don't have it gran..
OK I will keep looking
I found the 6 is it related?
Found it!
what is it?
good morning babblers
hi nono
mi 8/50. 16 furlongs, shortly in my opinion
ruru, use the plural distance add a vowel and the start of your female parent
strange word and there is no meaning that I can find
it looks like a foriegn word
weird one
thank you both..
Portuguese
2 more 8's to go
do you have the ec7, 8 combo?
no
and i have a ch6, 8 combo too
extend the ec4
all the 8's are done .. thanks
your welcome
Good morning/afternoon all.
gm your hazness
Hello, ruru.
Hello, Haz
Hello, Nono. This isn't the fastest grid I've ever done.
I am slogging along here myself
I keep thinking I must be missing some obvious key to the whole thing.
no it really is a bit more challenging than some we have had lately
<---- has all the 8's put away
yeah I have the 8's but only 1 of the 7's so far
I've got an awful lot of 6 letter words to find. Le sigh of deep resignation.
it is boards like these that make me wonder why I play this game..lol
But then, if we didn't have more difficult boards, the easier ones wouldn't be such a joy in contrast to them.
I'm trying valiantly to be optimistic here.
lol
more coffee needed..brb
coffee sounds like a good idea
It is a bit of a brain befuddler isn't it!
FM! Hello, come join the befuddled.
Oh I am already there Haz, perhaps the Home for the Befuddled and Bewildered will have some spare capcity today :)
hello FM!
Hello Nono, how are you?
I reckon we'd get in on an emergency/compassionate basisi.
basisi? Heavens - see what it has done to your brain already.
I know, fingers out of control and everything.
LOL
There there dear, here, have some of yournice medicine, it might help and if not you won't care anyway.
I have a large apartment in the Home for the Befuddled and Bewildered...be my guest FM
Annie!!! Hello :)
and hello everyone
hi Annie
Hello, Annie. you make it sound so attractive.
Can I bring Haz with me Annie?
hi Nono and Hazel
are basisis related to the dog basinjis?
Of course bring Haz
*smug*
what a concept.. a babbler rest home
For the select babbler.
We'll keep the riff raff out.
Dr God's Acres...
definitely needed after grids like this one
morning... babbler rest home? great idea
and for the very discerning babbles
*babblers
Good morning, Dorens.
Morning Dorens
Hi dorens, ruru
uh oh,,, if it is elitist, I thoroughly approve, but only if I make the cut.
That is an intersting dog ruru, just looked it up on wiki.
all the rooms could be lettered with points
Oh you are in Dorens.
i had a friend with a basenji when i was young
You'd get in without any problem, Dorens.
ahhhhhhhhhh *breathing great sigh of relief* now I know who I would exclude personally, but will yield to the majority
my cousin breeds them and I still can't spell them correctly
Their bark soulds like a yodel! That must be a very confused dog. (still reading wiki).
that's ok ruru, my ex is a brilliant neurologist, but I doubt that he's learned to spell medicine
I wonder if said dog is banned from Swiss slopes?
I play tennis with some neurologists.. they are all self-absorbed type people..
I would imagine so as it would be too much competition for the lonely goatherds.
I know, the lonely goatherd would feel mocked.
Is that what they yodel for .. goats?
I always thought it was a mating call for lonely Swiss men
perhaps he would feel less lonely?
mmm I think it developed as a sort of code so that people could communicate from one mountain top to another.
hence the lady -huuuu on the end
wow.. I can't find a single word
Ive given up even lloking at the moment.
they are somewhat elusive today.. interesting grid actually
good morning friends. the idea of a babbler rest home is EXCELLENT, but I must admit, I fear I would not make the stringent entrance requirements
Morning Trif
morning nono!
Hi Trif.
doubt that they've actually been determined yet, trif
Trif, are you baffled, befuddled and bewildered?
how many points would befuddled be?
I believe one third
i think life befuddles and baffles me... the grid is my sanity
hi everyone
shows how befuddled I am
hi katie
Braeks into song *Bewitched, bothered and bewildered* Which 1940 musical film did that song come from?
hi Katie
Hello, Katie, Trif and fellow befuddled babblers.
*brings meds over to annie...here you go dear*
*takes meds gratefully* thanks ru
*brings extras for FM*
Brigadoon
hi Katie
Afternoon Katie
Pal Joey
yeah FM ..everyone knows it is brigadoon
Yay Haz!
hello
*smug*
are there meds for me too?
I am more befuddled than I thought, Haz
Hello, jmc.
*smacks ruru with a trout*
oops
honestly this is an evil grid! not helped by the fact i have just painted my nails so typing not easy
i need no meds ruru, just a nice bordeaux please
Hi jmc.
i am not suppose to drink while i am here so i will have to use meds
hi fm
hello jmc.. how is the trip going?
Thanks for "sticking up" for me, but alas I was wrong re: Brigadoon, ruru
why is that jm?
Hello, jmc.
very intresting but I am ready to go home
You can make up for it at your birthday/home comming party jmc.
hands trout to annie
the local quakers have a strong testimony against drinking
*sulks thinking about jack daniels**
*pictures jmc on the plane home with a glass of JD*
jm?
*takes trout and hands it off to Haz*
especially since there was a major storm that knocked my power out at home and my food is all spoiling
ru?
with a full bottle, more likely
How do those quakers feel about oatmeal?
lol Dorens
*groan*
i don't think i can get a full bottle on a plane dorens
they have never heard of it ru
oh
*calls wilferd Brimley up*
but the young members of my meeting protested the popeye the oatmeal man campaign of Quaker oats
yes if anyone can clue them in about oatmeal, Wilferd can
hello :):)
hi Ata!
Hello, Ata!
hi ata
{{{ATA}}}}
Ata!!!!!!
hello ata!
hi Ata
Katie!!!! FM!!! Haz!!! Annie!!! JMC!!! Spanglettina!!! Nono!!!
now i am sorry i didn't maintain my african photos icons
Oh dear there is about to be a world shortage of ! thanks to Ata.
Dear goodness, now Ata needs some calming meds before we run out of ! entirely.
spanglettina?

DORENS! Sorry dearest!!
ah ty haz i still don't know all the nicknames
mmmm chopped liver
I don't like you after playing snowpack anyway :P
She has so many, jmc, it's not surprising.
Heaven help yo uif you forget anyone else Ata as you are barred from using any more ! .
:)
steady jmc, stop drooling.
must have used all the !s available for the day
I have a special never-ending supply. For just in case Vi appears
yes she did /.. I can't even get one:
*carefully wipes mouth*
I know, she's just so uncaring about the world ! shortage. Let's hope VIcuna doesn't make an appearance while Ata is around.
*giggles*
Not that I wouldn't welcome the appearance of dear Vi (provided she's left her singing voice behind her).
My singing earlier didn't bring her out (thank goodness) but she could be lurking.
There are Kenyans who have never seen a ! but does ata care?
(nails dry resumes normal typing)
bit early for Vi yet
I worried about that. Lonely goatherd AND Bewitched, bothered and bewildered. Talk about tempting fate.
lol Haz same train of thought. Hows Kent today Ata, warm?
lol
is 6/24 is a lovely word
nope, don't care less about the poor !less Kenyans
We should recycle some of Atas ! so that jmc can share them around.
very very warm!
*passes basket to collect recycled !!*
*enters chog with a bag full of !*
I'm so sparing in my use of ! that I have none to spare.
here too but at least the humidity has gone.
here you go !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
see there ata goes again tsk tsk
hi Eva
Greetings, EvaN.
Hey EvaN
ty eva the poor in Kenya will sing your praises
hi eva!
here's a bag full of !'s that I collected
unfortunately unless you konw swahili you won't understand it
*hands Ata some ! so she can be more excited to see me*
I am hoarding all my !'s. So there!!
ty ty nono your generosity is too noted
it's not warm here, cloudy dull and miserable
:-P annie the miser
does written swahili have !s in? Some South African languages do
Annie and Ata are being rebellious on this score.
Hola!!!!!! Hi Annie!!!! Hi Eva, how is the shoe search? Hi Katie! Jmc! Nono!!!
jmc...I got an e mail from createspace, timestamped 11:28 PM last night...my proof copy of my book has been shipped.
oh dear, jmc, off you go >>>>>!!!
Morning Red!!
ata the spendthrift
Honest to patience, you'd think red, having been in Africa, would have mercy on those poor Kenyans who have never seen a !.
Angel thats wonderful!
lmao Hi Red
mornin red. managed to find a pair on super-sale. not sure if they are *THE* pair (as they dont match all of my perfect-wedding-shoe criteria) but they are cute and i like them. :)
good news angel
Red, good morning
*grabbing all the flying !!! and putting them in the basker*
Sorry Haz, I was not up on the conversation. My Swahili is hideous. I can say a few things.
*basket
this charity work is hard
sometimes cute and I like them is good enough evaN. and hi red, angel
EvaN, don't forget to scuff the soles so you don't slip over
my chog froze :( Hi to those that have just come in.
CUte and Like is GOOD.
Keep it up JMC, there is a reward in the end right?
all the printed swahili i see outside of signs and dictionaries is in hymnals
Well, to recap, Ata and others waste ! , which is appalling considering that there is a world shortage. jmc is going to gather up and recycle ! for the poor Kenyans.
Hello, all.
Vicuna!!!
VI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ducks for cover from the onslaught of !
LOL Vi!!!!!!!!!!!
Hello, VIcuna!
OMG here it comes
Swahili has no clicks, which are what the letter ! is.
hello Vi
bad ata! bad!
I have some Swahili books, I did learn a lot when I was in Sudan...but really dont use it.
ROFL
Hi Vic
Hazel used an !
Lucky I brought my ! umbrella.
Swahili is interesting as it has some roots with the portugese language and so sometimes there are odd comparisons.
I will keep typing wisk until the grid gives in and allows it
Yes, but sparingly, Annie, from my special supply.
oh, i quite like these, and would be very happy with them. since ive got the time, im still gonna hold out some hope that i find something even better, but if i end up using these, i will still be quite a happy gal indeed. :)
jmc you are going to need more baskets at this rate.
ty vic but the Kenyans speak and write English so I will continue my work
HI folks
Annie, how are you, I have not seen you in a long time.
Hello, bichon.
Hi bichon
hi bichon
SO, let's get up to speed here... there's been singing, accompanied by the requisite Vicuna abuse... There has been exclamatory overload...
obviously i made a mistake by not going to turkana and getting baskets
We're opening a rest home for babblers.
and we were hoping that you would appear dear.
I am watching the birds chow down on the bird seed I got for them
... there has been complaining about the grid... EvaN has found acceptable if imperfect shoes...
anyone fancy going to my meeting for me?
Anything else I need to know?
and on the side I'm reading about parasitic castration in shrimps. Just so you know!
that about sums it up vic
And no riff-raff allowed.
Oh JMC< did you go to Turkana?
Hi bichon.
and I recently saw a shaved llama
parasitic castration, hmmm interesting.
no but others did
red, I have been reading some interesting news re:flowers from a new man in your life. How nice.
SOunds lovely, Ata. =)
Personally, I don't think we've moaned about this grid enough.
i went to masai mara instead
we have started a resthome for babblers as well Vi for those of us who are befuddled
Oh you should have, it's definitely an interesting place.
The answer to life, the universe and everything is 42 Vi.
mmmooooooaaaaaannnnn
sorry had to get the phone..."Bewitched, bothered and bewildered" is from Pal Joey....
I refer to the parasitic castration in sarcastic tones. A shaved llama is still lovely.
Thanks Annie, it is proving for me to be difficult to get used to , but I am working on it.
well i had to choose so i chose masai mara and the animals
*tries not to hum bewitched, bothered .... *
Oops, must rescue TOG-girl from yellow jacket inthe house...
Oh look, we can re5/12 our !.
Ata if you can read about parasitic castration you are fully qualified for my meeting
Masai Mara though is also nice, probably a lot nicer of a destination for observation.
i didn't think it was brigadoon but that is a musical i do not know well and it can come from more than one musical
Turkana I only went to because of the location up north.
We know, Trif, ruru thought it was Brigadoon which proves that he's only to be consulted on wine issues.
LOL, I suspect castration might be more interesting ....
speaking of castration i saw an interesting event today
same skills as far as I can see
good spot Haz.
oh my!
ooo do tell
*holds breath in anticipation*
*holds breath*
hmm odd time to enter the chog
Morning, Good Enough
apparently the village in which i am staying is about to have its big annual event of circumcising the boys
morning, GE
*turning purple*
morning :)
hi good
Have we got enough sick buckets at the ready?
morning good enough
*sits down, am faint*
ooooo
so to prepare for the event they go dancing and marching down the street for several days in advance
Oh, JMC dear, do you want to bring along a man to offer to the ceremony? I have to suggest....tee hee!
previously it has only been men and women but today. . . .
Good morning, all. I'd MUCH rather hear about Eva's shoes.
I can't imagine you were invited, jmc. Are you crashing the party?
Trif, you dog! LOL
tell me it was only the dancing you saw
*keeping fingers crossed that the package the post office tried to deliver monday didnt get lost due to the power outages*
heh, good answer, judy. ;)
Hello, Judi.
they had 30 naked little boys with veils of leaves dancing with them
hello judi
Hey Judi!
gosh
i ran out to take a photos but my camera was out of memory :-(
did you dance too jmc?
maybe tomorrow the event is for August 2
gtg bye
Bye, Trif.
i danced at a distance -- Kenyans love to have their pics taken
and i bet you are so sad that you will miss it ;)
bye trif
bye, Trif
Bye, Trif.
bye trif
bye trif
er since the boys ranged from 8 to 16 i am happy to miss it!
(anyone notice how quiet ru has gotten?)
Good point jmc.
Is RU here?
have to say I don't blame him on this one
He's probably revising his musicals so that he doesn't make that mistake again.
that's cause I haven't been around egging him on. hi all.
hiding no doubt red
Hi M9
hi m9
shoes and castration - what level could a guy join in on?
JMC, I am pleased you have Jesse Owens as your sports hero. I considered him, but decided to go modern!
Hello, m9.
even men need shoes
I thought about Jackie Robinson too
and Cal Ripken
true but they don't talk about them.
OK nobody has offered I'll need to go and do the bloomin' meeting myself. See you all later (much later after will to live has returned)
*hangs head in shame" I dont want Ruru to take the *rap* for me...I offered Brigadoon incorrectly *sigh*
Bye, KatieMcG. Be strong, be brave!
lol katie
Bye Katie.
I thought about Jim Thorpe, and Jesse Owens and a few track people.
See you later, Katie. I'd have offered but they'd know it wasn't you.
bye Katie
i would assume a guy would have a lot to say about circumcision at such an age
Phone.
good morning everyone:)
you just needed to paint your nails a stupid colour and you could have got away with it
Oh, Annie, let ruru take the blame - it saves FM for a day.
and Cross arrives, almost on Cue!!!
shoving off for tennis.. au revoir mes amis
Morning Crossy
sorry katie but the commute is too great -- take a laptop and sign in to babble
Yes, but they'd have wondered about the accent, Katie.
bye ruru
uh oh..what did i step into?
now you got me singing Brigadoon in my head *tries to shake the music out of her head*
Hazel, Gladly! There goes another !.
hi crossy
true *tarra a bit*
oh.. glad I missed that..whew
Single ! use is acceptable, it's when they spray them about that I worry.
Phone...
think of the Annie song Tomorrow Good that will do it
Still wanna see the shoes.
leave for a minute and then the girl talk goes to castration and circumcision.. jesus
lol jmc, now we will all be humming "Tomorrow"
Just stopping by to say hi...

Hi Jellen, how is Tim?

He's feeling yucky and discouraged...we go to chemo today...

too bad jell
jellen, so sorry jellen..sometimes ice pops can help
(Psst, Ata. Check your heraldry - the gu is red.)
i know ruru,i came in here and they are grumbling about shoes and castration ,so im just keeping my head(both of them) down and tackling this grid;)
with the nausea, Jellen

Yay, Eva!
(((Jellen and Tim))))
Bye, Jellen! Good luck!
just returned to chog, thanks a lot jmc, great idea - NOT
*poof*
gish should be aword.
which? good I forget
please use in a sentence..
ooo singing Tomorrow!
bye jell
I sing it in spanish and that slows me down
I'm gonna gish that bug. use it all the time.
squish
I would probably smish it, but Enable doesn't know it either. (Actually, I would most likely put it outside in a glass, unless it was a mosquito. then... smish with extreme prejudice.)
i have found 40 words and i swear 39 of them are 4 letter words
Whoa...way too many i's for only 1 cup of coffee! YIKES!
my brother kept a pet spider to help keep the mosquito population down
hi car
morning Car
I've found 58.. but my daughter has found the longer ones.. ;-)
best thing to keep the mosquitos down are a few nice bats;))
I've tried to get bats to live in a bat house, but it wasn't up to snuff, I guess. Still, they wander by from time to time.
ACK! BATS!!!! *runs around in circles with hands covering head*
very true Crossy!
they are ok jmc as long as they dont get in my house
mm a nic sc 6/27 word we do not get too often in da grid
i am a bit phobic
I love bats
Hi, I'm new at playing this game and I have a question
thanks crossy
There there, jmc. We won't let the nice bats get in your hair.
there was a rabid bat epidemic in my neighborhood when i was young
ask away
hi plaay
Hello, plaayyyer.
we'll answer if we can plaay
Under tile stats..Why are there 2 of some of the letters?
of course we can play
The tile stats correspond with the tiles above. One for each.
The tiles reflect the grid. One word beginning with p comes from that p tile.
each tile stat letter represents a tile in the grid
Ohhhhh ok
because there's two of the same letter in the grid
check out the help ^ it is very helpful
ok thank you
I've wondered if it would be beneficial if the tile stats were printed on the tiles themselves somehow.
I guess it would probably be too distracting.
hmmm with the points already there i think it would be too much
gremlinn i almost think that would make it more confusing
phantoms: uglier and wigwam
it would work if you got rid of the points on the tiles though
you could li** them on the side like in scrabble
brb
I think today's probably a full PB
Phantom: sugar
We will have to wait and see what Dr_G comes up with for the new layout.
whenever that is going to be.
he did provide me with this lovely Kenyan flag on days after I put Kenya as my residence
May I please have a clue for the single i in the top row?
PB!
iw4.
iw4
iw4 - atchaic ceertainly
a lisping flower
Oh, gremlinn, have a heart. With a grid like this you can be mercifiul.
(archaic)
Miss that one every time. TY!
oh good clue jmc!
but i stocked up the pb first thing this morning!
...what does iw4 mean?
Hey all, my icon is my kitty, Reilly, that has been missing. Please keep good thoughts for him, OK? We are all missing him terribly.
pb!!!
Sorry. I'm trying to understand this all
It means a four letter word that begins with iw.
It means "iw" are the first two letters, and 4 letters total.
oh crap, slinking off to PB
iw means the word starts with those two letters and 4 means there are four letters in the word
Oh ok thanks
i'm starving! craving a really yummy muffin
NBT!
oh i hope he comes back soon car
mmmm muffins
What an elegant kitty car.
you may also see the notation "iw4/8" - the 8 would be the points for the word
omg i can't wait til i get back stateside!
He is a big 'un...15 lbs!
Oh, good luck with Reilly, car.
blueberry or maybe cinnamon
i found the points confusing until i had been at it for a while
JMC...can we send you some muffins where you are? I would be happy to overnight them.
Awe Car, I hope Reilly comes home real soon. You must be beside yourself with worry
Cranberry orange...my favorite!
mm i see we have cl 4/6 in the grid...pb is going to be stuffed all day lol
it would take a week for them to arrive "overnight"
Thanks Nono...it is hard on the kids too.
but thanks car
Vi - yr icon a new one of your creations? don't remember seeing it before.
banana walnut or chocolate chip or double chocolate
i will be on the road on Friday
mmmmmm NY cinnamon chip muffins! I haven't had one of those in ages
Anything for a fellow Babbler!
omg you guys are killing me
phantom: lucious
a new grocery store opened by us and they have an amazing bakery, muffins are delish!
Relatively new, FM. A few months ago now. It was the last animal for my new animal alphabet book.
i think i will go make something for supper and let this train of thought die down brb
OKay, time for me to depart. Shopping to be done. Today just keeps getting better and better....
It is lovely Vi, so delicate.
lol Haz, see you tomorrow.
Vi...it is beautiful. Is the book out?
i make these carrot muffins, you should see them, things rise 2 inches over the top of the muffin pan:)) a little real butter when they are warm out of the oven and...mmmmmm
Our cats have always been indoor kitties, car and about a year ago one of them got out. She was a very skitterish kitty and got scared. We didnt see her for almost 2 weeks but finally came back home so hang in there
Toodle-oo!
bye Haz
((crossy))
((FM))
Nono, I have heard so many stories like that and I want to believe, but I am not usually a person who gets a happy ending, so I am doing my best.
hang in there ((((Car))))
Thank you. Trying.

Yes, don't lose heart yet, car. Chances are still very good.

Goodbye, FM! See you later!
bye fm

I don't think the French have a word for muffin
TY Ruby. Me too, but it is hard to believe that.
Too many coyotes and fisher cats around.
what's a fisher cat?
I've been reading about coyotes in Manhattan! astonishing
Nasty creature! Somewhere between a weasel and a badger I think.
geez i thought we would be past muffin by now
They just want bagels!
weadgers, or beasels!
No, I was astonished about the one that came through the Lincoln Tunnel. Poor thing.
my sister sends me clippings from the NYT, always about animals in the city
I thought all cats were fishers
No, JMC. Just saw the Muffin Seinfeld episode the other day too....Top of the Muffin to you!
you're all making me homesick for the US!!! :(
not a seinfeld fan
so come visit ruby
""Muffin...a term connected with moufflet, an old French word applied to bread, meaning soft....The word muffin first appeared in print in the early 18th century, and recipes began to be published in the middle of the 18th century." someone else says"For a muffin in French is un muffin." hmmm......
there are lots of beds for you to sleep in across the country
I just looked it up in my FR/Eng dictionary. You're right, "un muffin" (petit pain, plat et rond)
I keep thinking I have words for the middle "i"... but then grid gives it to a diff tile!
ty JMC!!
want a hint?
yes please gremm
I have the one...land amid the sea...is 4
small piece of land in the ocean
try an add on meaning belief
im5, Arabic word

hi jayk
Hi all!
what are you doing in kenya?
pb for you jayk -- there is a revovling door today
mi8 plural distance = a vowel add the beginning of your female parent
I thought you had returned from Kenya
mi...distance...not them but **
right now eating fried rice
mi5 + it's tough to f**ure out
lol that cl 4/6 is gonna get em;)
don't come to kenya if you don't like rice
oops...add vowel in after the l
oh yes--sorry about that
that is, mi5/16
sigh i don't have mi 5/16 i was using mi 512
hint for the mi 5/16
i came for some international meetings and stayed to safari and volunteer jayk
mi + a be*** is a big burp
Noni, that's the 8/ 50
Okay, I know that work. It's Yiddish for being in the dairy stae
Noni, that's the 8/50
*word
TY grmlin
It was a new word for me
*dairy state
got it ty grem
The opposite of that word is fleischig
and the wife lauged when i bought a yiddish/english dictionary lol
oops sorry JayK i guess i misread your request
NM--found it!
Enable is big on Yiddish/Hebrew words. don't ask me why
i just you tube clips of crusty the clown and his dad;)
if it is the word i got it is not yiddish
it is old english according to the ?
the definition I see says it comes from Yiddish "milkhik"
I'll go look in the OED. The pronounciation does have the "g" ending.
1/2 way!
if it takes all this yiddish and hebrew, why does it not take "lumiere"??
crossy: I saw that one earlier, too
ok. since I'm nbt and 1/2way, gonna take a break
isn't that french? enable LOVES french
favoritism i tell you....crossy grumbles
cause disney made it a proper noun! LOL
wtg m9
lol m9
lol m9
Not in the OED
damn candlestick
hey all, just here for a moment b4 heading off to work, M9, did you get the movie?
i may need one soon
hi weiik
which movie?
howdy welik
HI jmc
HI jmc
HI crossy
M9, lathe of heaven
skirmish
get two, get two, get two hi's in one!
ooo ty m9
like double mint gum
ty m9,i like your cl4,s the best
no....should i have?
exacatly weiik
lathe of heaven sounds dangerous
what if god's hand slips?
we are just here on sufference anyways lol
M9, I thought we may have spoken previously about a science fiction movie, lathe of heaven, I may be confused, been looking at job boards for the last 3 hrs, only here to clear my mind b4 I leave and go to work
ursula k leguin.
right you are cross
not me.. but sounds interesting
sorry .....
i can face death but being lathe to death seems too much
or is that lathed?
my mind is in a fog over computer lingo and filling out applications by the score .. probably for jobs the host will chuck in the round file anyway, but, I do have to make an effort either way
i think i will get taken out by getting creamed by a schniders truck loaded with bacon one day
better than blathed to death?
i felt that way about the spread sheets i was working on allday weiik
crossy , what a thought
do what i did weilk, make up a nice resume...open the phone book get every business within a 20 mile radius and fire our a fax to them all
jmc, awwww, spread sheets
i will probably get crushed by demonstrators running from the police
cross, did that work for u?
kenyan taxes to boot weiik -- like i know anything about it
i throw faxed resumes away
that was what the '70s was like JMC, running from the police during Vietnam protests ...
no,..well sort of..what actually worked was a old trick from a depression era book i have on finding work.i offered any prospective employer 8 free hours on me with no strings and no commitment on their part.then they could judge if i was right for the job
only if you are making a showing for unemployment would i recommend that
trust me the 70's were not the end of it weiik
i hhave gotten a job twice now using that method
yes JMC, I'm waiting for the next revolt, over the financial problems here in US .... been looking for work and mostly coming across a lack of interest in older males with legacy skills
on break at work...taking notes...!
howdy nb:))
if you want a job, find a friend or acquaintance and ask them if you can come talk about work prospects with their firm even if there are not job openings, sound knowledgeble, and when they say there is no job ask them for three names of people in the field.
back from the breakroom. that's a cool idea crossy!
hi nancy
it is indeed good enough:)
then make appointments with those three people, drop the first persons name, and do it over again -- just keep track of who referred you
hi Crossy, Weiik :) sounds like a good idea, Crossy...I need a different job, desperately
people start to be impressed by your diligence and when there is a job they remember and refer you
I'll try that jmc ... did not think of that, I have offered a free week to make a determination
nb.any job that is stable with regular hours is a good job these days
well the thing is -- you can give me a free week but if i don't have a job opening it just means i get free work from you
i have been a boss for 30 years and i know what works for me
crossy...I am an employer and if someone offered 8 free hours, I would be worried about them getting hurt on the job...my worker's comp would not cover them and then I could be sued by them
well, now I'm working for myself, but, not getting my rate, but, I'd take a chance in a office for a week to network
and do not be afraid to hunt for jobs that others dislike..cleaning out port-a-potties pays 15 per hour, scraping alge and slime off of boats at the marina, night shift polishing floors in supermarkets pays 14 per hour etc
lol i was a professional envelop stuffer for a while
mm,did not think of that, but we do not usually sue at the drop of a hat, especially if we are hunting for work.but i get your drift if you are in a hazard industry
Cross, I'm a computer jockey from the '70 days, and trying to get in for financial and programming work
and took in mending to get through college
sometimes in theis job market, you may have to stray out of your usual field
yes cross, that is why I'm doing a stone porch today at the shore, so I get a little money and some beach time, and maybe a referral since it is on board walk
not so much need for programmers like there once was since there is so much software that is specialized now
I used to work an 8 hour job, then go to a 2 hour job and then a 4 hour job every day.
wow ouwa, why 3 jobs?
sh*** the lights went out again
wanted the money
jmc..I don't see that in the grid...
I always tried to find a job that paid well, but, I do admire your effort ouwa
<<<greedy...now worth considerable amount of money
Ouwa, I'm doing something very similar just to keep myself afloat in this crazy, expensive city ;)
i try to always be aware there may be minors
lol
i still work two jobs because if i don't i gets bored
there's a word that's close...
i don't really have a job.
I have two M9, want one of mine? ;)
i was doing my regular job running the service station, them working at a submarine sandwich shop for 6 hours and doing a close shit at a friends convienience store for 4 hours lol
I got licensed as a tax preparer and did that through April. I clean house for a woman with fibro every other week or so.
crossy doesn't care if there are minors, apparently!LOL
lol typo crossy
what did i say???
*wonders how you do a closed sh** *
oops
jmc..it hurts.
cross, i think it should have been shift
for 4 hours!!
my bad
no doubt m9 no doubt
lights back on
rain and electricity do not function well here
cross how did you like the submarine shop, I did that alittle and gained weight, had to leave it
running on generators?
morning all (popping in for a few)
and I've never once had a job using my degrees.
i got so sick of smelling them weilk,i never touched them after a month
hi pini
halfway finally!
How many words today?
no but Kenyan Power is not particularly well run
The thing is, so many jobs that pay well require a university degree. I need a job that pays well so that I can afford to get a university degree!
PINI!
ha! Try working pizza while having morning sickness.
224
JMC! :)
Thanks.
my brother built up 32 g,s in debt getting his degree, and i do believe it has never been used as well lol
i was happy at the big boy because there was enough variety
M9, i'd find another job quick, or that the day off for delivery
Nothing like being caught in a Catch-22, eh, NB?
that was when spaceballs came out. My husband took me to see it at theater... when Pizza the Hutt came on, I about ralphed on him.
aren't there scholarships in the UK?
government loans?
well, it's not the only reason. I feel totally cheated that I worked so hard to get those stupid A grades, and all for nothing!
sometimes a degree ends up being nothing but very expensive wallpaper
oh pfpft. Gage woke up not feeling so great.
and he has friends coming over!
Pursuing a college degree after high school in my day was an "option"
I'm glad I got my degree, when it meant something, now, I have friends who leave the job, get the degree and debt, and when interviewing, the manager tells them it does not matter,
the stupid As are what might get you a scholarship NB
I'm glad i got my degrees, even though I've never used them.
trust me it matters in the sense that they would not have gotten the interview without the degree
there are grants etc, but they're allocated on the basis of your parents' income - since my parents are rich but cruel, I don't qualify ;)
which reminds me that I need to phone someone about doing some tutoring for her foster child.
i use mine every day -- shines like the sun!
jmc ur right
nancy.. can you divorce them?
*speeds into chog to snoggle NB*
NB after you have been out of home for a year they may not look at your cruel rich parents (not counting the babble ones)
;-)
its like the millitary, spend all that time in basic, all that blood and sweat, then the first person you meet with a few stripes says" ok , first tihik i want you to do is forget all that crap they taught you cause it is no good here" lol
then you would be considered emancipated
sounds familiar, crossy!
eva~ everyone wants to see the shoes.
brb
good bye all, heading off to work, bbl this evening poof
Eva found the shoes?!
I have two bachelor's... I'm full of bs.
cya l8r weiik
found *some* shoes that will work. still keeping an eye out for absolutely perfect shoes, but i do quite like these. :)
bye m9
that's what i heard nancy
took me 22 apps to finally land a job at the Uni...it took them that long to figure out that 30 years worth of mgmt experience was equivalent to a college degree...
bye!
area those wedding shoes?
what are your degrees in, M9?
these are just simple "leather" peep toes. nothing fancy, but they ARE orange. and i got an amazing deal -- supposed to be $80 and i paid just over $20.
sweet eva!!
general bs with emphasis on applied physics, and bs mechanical engineering.
hello all *notes that m's eval is accurate*
mostly bs though... *wicked mama grin*
Smart one! English literature was my choice. One dayyy..
how's the grid today?
yup!
* snicker *

I have a job; I want a better job so I can afford to get a degree! I got accepted at some -very- good universities here and damn it I want to attend them!
hey Nancy Boy -- no scholarships?
NB...do they have any work-study opportunities that you can check out?
what uni's nancy ??
hit up the fam for college money while your visiting!LOL
LOL M9, that'll go down well, the three points of my speech: 1) I'm alive, 2) I'm gay, 3) give me money!
yes! sounds good to me!
I've looked into it a lot Pini, Stid, but there's no route I can work out in which I can both study and support myself
*sews rainbow jacket for nancy boy to wear proudly in Korea*
a rich sugar daddy?
have you applied for financial aid? NB it may not work the way you think
I'd armour-plate that if I were you Stid ;)
I'd talk to the councelors at the colleges you've been accepted to.
already got it covered, nancy boy *demonstrates james-bond style super-supple armored lining with hidden pockets for stink bombs, laughing gas and choclit stash*
meltproof even!
help for the i in the center so I can NBT?
start by talking to financial aid at the school you want to go to -- tell them your da booted you for being gay and you are self supporting and ask them what to do
nb,reading back..my brother wallpaper degree is a masters in english..do not go there lol
lol M9...a rich sugar daddy is probably actually the most workable solution ;)
if that doesn't work go speak to a solicitor www.legalservices.gov.uk about emancipation and educational loans
you want to go where the money is nb?? anything in the medical field, nursing, lab tech etc
stid...think small land mas
il4s in the stream..that is what we are..
are you listening NB? I am giving free legal advice here
* mass
I'm listening and noting :) thanks you!
you rock, jmc!
free legal?? my lawyer charges 200 just to hang up on me!! lol
or talk to th eNUS, NB
okie doke i feel better then -- there is usually a way if you want something badly enough
yay nbt!
Hello everyone

hi becca
must go forage for food. shall be back soon. *quick like a bunny*
Crossy, I can't tell you how terribly, horribly wrong I'd be for anything scientific or medical...though my little sister wants to be a doctor. I think she'll do it too, she's smarter than her bro ;)
hb evan
there's prolly a disinherited gay scholarship out there somewhere!
NB - do what you want to do - I did a degree based on getting a job after and now I wish I'd just done what I loved instead.
you didn't get those As for being dumb NB -- but do what makes you happy and the money will come or at least you won't care
i figure there is a gay korean scholarship
bah nb<anyone can run a mri or ct scanner, its all computer programs and digital lol
true becca
do what you love for a living and you will never work a day in your life;))
A gaysian scholarship? ;)
i am glad i do what i love (most of the time)
yes! that's what I was thinking jmc!
probably NB
do talk to the NUS though, they'll know stuff like that
crossy is still working on doing what he loves, getting that book shoppe up and running:)
George Choy Memorial / Gay Asian Pacific Alliance Scholarship The purpose of the George Choy Memorial / Gay Asian Pacific Alliance (GAPA) Scholarship is to provide financial assistance to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (l/g/b/t) Asian and Pacific Islanders (API) who are in the process of applying to, or are currently attending, a post-secondary institution. The maximum grant award is currently $1000.
you tell him ata!
wow! there is one:))
will buy the text books anyways
of course there is a scholarship for the descendants of a conn. signer of the constitution that my son qualifies for
bows down to jmc's google skills!
and all unis have odd scholarships depending on who taught there. we used to have ones for students who wanted to study geology that came from Berkshire
as my daughter says m9 get out of my head!
THere will be a way NB, you just have to find it.
not to mention the Teagle Foundation which paid for my education at Rice U. as a child of an Exxon employee (only Rice U and Tulane need apply)
i know a woman whose dd's got full college scholarships just because of their last name. they moved back to that town so their other dd could go to same high school and get the scholarship
dd's?
there is a scholarship for quakers to go to quaker colleges and another one for non-quakers to go to quaker colleges
ge you wanted to bow down to jmc too?
dd's = dear daughters
ohhh
exactly!
no no -- no obeisance necessary (gosh i hope that is the right word with all these masters in english around)
lol!
ok. i really gotta get going.
*poof*
bye m9

Yay, stidmama!
Afternoon Babblers. I am here but annoyed because I need to be sleeping and I can't.
Great! 3 weeks of sunshine and only 2 days of rain so far.
ooh, night shift, red?
hey red
sounds lovely blueheron!
hi red!
yes, I got up and run this morning and the pool was too crowded for swimming and now I can't sleep but I am tired.
awww poor red :(
How are you Aloy? and Stid and Heron and Vicuna...and and and lurkers?

It's been fun spending time with my daughter and granddaugher.
CLue for the p please.

I think I just need to maybe have a little more sugar, or something.
TY stid.
rearrange the leaning tower for pi5
I mean pi4
ty stid
Sugar to help you slepp red?
am fine, red.. enjoying the summer, heat and all
Gak, late anyway. Serves me right for trying to multi-task. Never works.
*sleep
you know the sugar high and then the almost near immediate drop?
yw. see you-all later. *poof*
Aloy you clearly aren't in Florida? It's getting to be horrible here.
Oh yeah, that could work.
Bye, stidmama!
Bye stid
Vi, I'm currently painting up the most amazing knotwork thing ever :D
bye, stid.. hagd !
Most amazing thing ever? Excellent! When can I see?
I suppose I ought to go and cook something.
when I've painted it :P
Harrumph. What's the theme?
oh wait, I'll show you the lineart. 2 secs
Cool.
right, red.. am in OH.. had some bad storms, but not the heat of Fla.. lightning hit the cottonwood behind the house a few days ago.. BLAM.. whew
ooh, exciting, Aloy! Maybe a bit too exciting.
wood is scattered all over
http://www.flickr.com/photos/elegaer/4 831271835/
Oh no. It has just been humid hot no rain this week. I am getting very sick of battling it for the running.
am so allergic to cottonwood fluff, but grateful to this tree for taking the hit
better the tree than a home or person.
Oh wow, Ata. That *is* the most amazing thing ever!
What's the color scheme going to be?
for sure, red
dark green, gold, silver :D
Ata that is sooo complex.
and a bit of dark red for accent
Gorgeous.
I seem to have been spending hours painting dark green LOL
Right, off to be a good mother. Bye all.
I can well believe it.
Goodbye, Becca Lorum.
bye Becca!
bye, Becca.. happy mothering!
When's the move, Ata? Did you get all your visas and all taken care of?
I did another one recently, smaller, and it was far too colourful. this is going to be very plain colour-wise
don't talk to me about visas LOL!!
Uh oh.
I am finally, maybe getting somewhere with them!
Progress is good.
yes, I was getting rather downhearted
thats excellent news Ata.
yes! found someone at OSU who is interested in having me along on their research team. very good start!
Nothing like bureaucracy to beat the heart out of anyone.
OSU being Oregon State U?
yep!
Corvallis is a great little town, I have a masters degree form there Ata.
its really very very very hard to just want to go and live in the US. without x, y, z, a, b, and c consitions met
really? cooool!
I like Crvallis too
but if this works I'd hopefully be based aroun dNewport
though I have to admit, even thouhg its Oregon that area is conservative. to a large degree...
I love Newport, Agate Beach is my favorite place.
Agate Beach is great
hello all, Ata. are you moving permanently to the USA?
I love all around there
possibly, hopefully, probably!
will you bring DH along?
no! it would be to escape!
oh :)
Hobbit is coming though
what about Sily?
probably her too :D
:-)
they are far more important than husband :P
it sounds as if things may be looking up Atalante.
I hope so :)
wow you will get to meet Pin, Stid et al
wow you will get to meet Pin, Stid et al
yep!!!
So, what's your time frame? Any idea?
but none of us on the east coast :( unless we have a babble meetup in the middle somewhere
it really depends on research grant schedules etc, Ill have a better idea in a few weeks I think
Well, keep us posted! =)
Ata is scared of the east coast because *I* live there. *assumes bad-ass pose*
more scared of the orange shoes!
That's it, EvaN. I'm considering moving away myself.
course, if you DID make it over this way, maybe you could BE there when i finally get my tattoo you drew me. :)
wheeeee :D
that would be fun
anywho, since i missed the beginning of this chat, where and when?
help nwith ch words pls. only have the ch5/6 in the middle
there is a leafy pet, and pl
hot peppers peri
a spicy spice and pl
a tex mex dish
five of the ch words start with the pet that grows and is advertised every holiday with an annoying jingle to boot
when? not sure yet!
a sharp-ended tool and the one who carves with it
ty Vi and Aloy
first ch6/2 pls
ch6/27
yw, think big gap

ty Vi
and Aloy
you have an optic one in your brain, so the left side of the brain responds to the stimuli of the right hand for example
Oregon - OSU
ahh. way over THERE...
I am finding it a bit difficult to believe that there really are 118 left in this grid.
yep, as far that way as possible!
course, in most parts of the country, if you say "OSU" they will think you mean Ohio State. :)
Yeah, probably shouldn't have started this one. Oh well.
that's what I thought, Eva
I don't know about most parts, it does help that I am familiar with Atas topics and know that hio would not be a place for an Ocean person.
I don't even know where Ohio is :P
ohio is in the middle of the country. far from oceans...heh
right below Lake Erie, Ata
ohhhhh ty
to the right of Illinois?
yes! and left of Pennsylvania and W. Va
shaped like a heart, the "heart of it all" as the slogan goes
Indiana is in between them, though.
aha! now I can picture it TY. And hopefully I'll remember it. One day I'll get the hang of teh states!
gu5/20 pls
under the Gu*** of being friendly, the gentleman moved in slyly...
western distch, peri
i dont even know where some of the states are....lol
ditch I mean, sorry
I have trouble mostly with the ones out west that are like squares, they all look alike.
I get very confused up and down the middle of the US! West Coast is ok, south is OK
I have thata for the gu5/16
Ah, Wicked Witch of the West back in Kansas. Thanks, Aloy.
trying to think of a western with the word in the title.. no recall
alas, I do nt have a 5, 20, just a few others.
rhymes with what you put on your garden
got it ty
fertilizer?
gu5.20: good clue, Vicuna!
(which I didn't have, either, so thanks for that, too)
anyway, a deep ravine
not liking this grid
pleased that I have gottne over half way.
there;s a famous fossil site called Bear Gu***
Finally got it thanks Ata.
fireworks at last!
impressive aloy!
hello everybody
hey ruby
Yay for ALoy!
Hello, ruby.
started on the grid last night.. have to get to my domestic duties now.. hi and bye to ruby - Happy Babbling all, poof
hi ruby!
sk8 is what the cats do here :)
this chat is hilarious! I used to put myself to sleep by trying to think of all the states. How boring is that?
aww hobbit is running in her sleep
States and state capitals were fourth grade and I was out of the country that year. Never have learned them very well.
I want sleep. Soooo cranky now,
my first chow, Rosie, used to have running dreams, too. Adorable
it's sooooo cute
you'd fit right in here, Red
I can't even get to half of this grid!
97 left, but i am going to go in a few min to take a shower and try again.
71 left
gooo peri.
I hit the wall at 64. Hope you get some sleep red
Hello all. Coffee cake in oven. Love the cinnamon scent in my kitchen.
opooo how lovely!
cruel stidg!!!! hello
Oh, rubyfoo. You can certainly have a slice with tea or coffee. Of course Atalante I am guessing tea for you? With milk?
bbs
thank you, stidg!!!
Well already 11 words in the bag. Some days are like that snicker, snack.
tea, milk pls!!!
lots of french words in this grid. Too bad they don't count.
some do though
True, true, friend Atalante.
if I get 3 more words, I'll have half!
any 7's would help
I need 2 more for half way
or top p and left i
ec7 - a belief in sounds bouncing back?

iw4 - archaic certainly
oh, that's top left i

oh, wow, thank you! 113 now
My pleasure.
im one is funni
Yeah. "unit of Zulu warriors," sez disctionary
good night everybody and ty for getting me to half!
But having never sk8-ed with Zulu warriors, I don't find that the word comes up in conversation much.
Goodnight, ruby!
{{vic}}
sk8! ooo!
thanks for the sk word.
what a nice word!
=D
hello all, here for a few minutes' respite from myself... *STILL feeling low self-esteem and NO talking about it doesn't help* *grumpy mama look*
Oh, don't be grumpy. Cheer leader is aboard and ready to shake pom poms.
I want to get to halfway. up to 80 so far.
how is france today ruby?
(((stiddy)))
Poor stidmama. Talk about something else instead then. What sounds interesting?
hello Mother. ((hugs)) I'll be over in about an hour.
I got a little more of the garden cleared out this morning with the boys' help... amazing how much compost the weeds will make for us! LOL
It's nice to get some help with it!
I wish I had taken "before" pics. There is a lot or progress even with my limited energy and time for gardening.
yes, it is nice. And if I don't ask too much, they don't complain the whole time!
how is your life going vi? I have read a couple of your blogposts. They are interesting! I am hoping to read the early ones later this week.
Mine give me nice company sometimes, but I have to go back after their "help" and fix it. =)
Life is dandy, as always, thanks, Stidmama. Here's a question for you re: the blog...
Did you say you set it to notify you of a post? If so, you don't get a million notifications when I repost a million times trying to get the formatting right, do you?
:-D it gets better over time, vi... they'll get there! and then you can sit in the shade and sip mint juleps (or lemonade) like the lady of leisure we all deserve to be.
yes, I do have it on my newsreader, and I only get one notification. I think they are set to read "updates" as "not new"
lol, that's right, stidmama. And I won't even have to crack my whip, because they'll just be so happy and cheerful to do their chores! ;)
Good. Thanks very much.
:-D thanks for asking me about something I might know about. *wry grin* when I grow up...
oh well. The stidkid has to get to rehearsal soon.
I'm doing more shuttling than usual this week. Not liking it, but I suppose it's a taste of what's to come.
What's he rehearsing for in the summer?
yes, the older they get, unless you are wealthy enough to afford cars for each.
Hah. They have bikes.
he is in Elton John's "Aida" (chorus member) and as Pooh Bah in The Mikado.
Aida opens in a couple weeks, Mikado the week after that.
we are quite a ways from town... bikes work okay some days, but not when it's really wet or really hot.
Oh, wow! Two shows at once! You must all be going crazy!
he'll do three next summer. He is VERY good at memorizing and acting and such.
Around here the limiting factor on bicycling is snow. (And of course age at present.)
It's not bad now that I am not in classes. I like being able to read whatever I want... I dread going back to school in four weeks, even if I will be student teaching.
And again, I say "wow." He must be a veritable prodigy.
yes, the age factor -- now that mine are older adolescents age isn't such a concern. But rural roads (often no shoulder) and distance are.
gotta go. See you-all again soon! (((hugs))) *Poof*
Yeah, we have a few routes around here that would be plenty close enough to bike, but I'm afraid to myself, not to mention with kids, because of lack of shoulder.
Goodbye, good luck, have fun, chin up! =)
And I've had enough for now. Wandering off...
bye dear!
is anyone finding this grid to be irritating
yep
Irritating? Irritating? Yes. I'm going to put berries into the freezer now.
ci
Not just irritating; it's downright nasty. I am thinking of leaving this place forever...
I love morewords, I love morewords, I love morewords..........
of course I love lickety first and foremost - thats a given.....
home from work. now i can really concentrate on this trying grid
silly me. just found the ee4 after so many hours
Hello...from the comments, I'm not sure I want to start this grid...
Hi Jellen - it is challenging today - be brave and jump in...
I'm just finding every word takes stamina which I don't have on this hot day
All righty then...but don't expect me to finish!
although the grid is difficult, i found the big words first which i never do
Help on re6/24 please???
re + hear back the same thing
Oh dear -- Thank you very much, River...

Thanks, I will, kje
OK, poofing again
honestly, there cannot be 224 words in this crummy grid. grrrr
very strange words indeed - lots with the two endings ism and ish

river i'm so happy the good news keeps coming
oh lord i wish i was home! i am ready for pizza and fresh veggies and jack daniels

lol and muffins!
a month is a long time to be away espcially so far and such a different culture
i worked all day on spreadsheets for kenyan payroll taxes
oh gee, that sounds like fun....NOT
a month just gets me to the point of acclimating with the culture
have you seen any wild critters?
well it was a beautiful day and i took my laptop outside
i have seen lots and this is the first day i have not had one of my photos as an icon
there are columbus monkeys in the trees around this college
you'll need to upload them on flicker so we can see all the lovely things you experienced there, jmc
and today i saw part of the local tribes circumcision ceremony -- bunch of nekkid boys with veils made of leaves dancing down the street
Awesome jmc. When do you come home?
i will be home satuday
she'll be comatose til Monday.
Nothing like celebrating your birthday on an airplane, jmc!!
just in time to clean out the rotten food from the electricity being off in my house for 2 days so far
ewww
maybe they will sing happy birthday to me
OMG--what happened? storms?
ugh! send you son over there to clean it up before you get home!
there was a terrible storm that hit my neighborhood on sunday
i will be waiting for him at the airport -- his plane gets in an hour after mine
my sister got caught in the storm saving my cat
I saw your post about the cat. Both doing okay?
yeah for sister!
yes they are both fine she borrowed my shoes so i am wondering which shoes and are they ruined
yeah indeed for sister
Going to get a snack...bbl...((hugs)) to all...

there is a maggianos near my house in dc
not a cosmos fan though

i suspect it is less a chain than there are a couple of them -- a mini chain
YAY--halfway and getting out the list!

Looks like it, doesn't it?
Yes, it is...

Phantom: recluse
i was fixated on that this morning, had to leave bc i couldn't get past it
I do that sometimes...all I see are phantoms, and it drives me batty!
i'll keep trying it and trying it like i think it will suddenly work
Do you have a word for the 3rd column I, please?
but it should work...........lol

lol, bichon
I think I have too bichon
the things you find Babbling
oh no..it's contagious... cuz i have...
The word that worries me is asswages.

There's no definition, but I'm hoping it's an alternate spelling of assuages, otherwise ???
Tee hee!
sc 6/27 and/or 6/24?
sorry dont have sc words yet bichon
sc 6/27= a division or break
ty Jellen
thanks Jellen
I got the 6/24, kind of rock formation
this is a hard grid tonight = still got 72 to go - will have to give up soon - need more sleep tonight
you got that right Kazzer. Every word is like pulling teeth
Thanks, bichon
has it been just as warm there as it has in the SE of England and sleep is impossible Kazzer
i managed to give myslef a frozen shoulder so i cant really sleep anyway but i must stop going to sleep in the afternoon in work
It's hot here too ren, 90F or close to it every day and very humid
sorry to hear that, hope it is better soon and sleep will not be a problem, I sometimes feel like feeling alseep at work too through boredom
I am hating all over the grid. 91 left, been picking at it all day...
tis a horrid grid!!
140 left here...not enjoying it, but enjoying the company...
Well, I am going to work soon, it's going to be a struggle as I was really unable to sleep///
gosh bichon nowhere near as hot as that here anything between 70F and 82F over the last few weeks but really cooled down over the last few days thank goodness
So sorry, red...*hands red a supply of long-lasting super-energy*

Crossing our eyes, teeth, fingers, toes, and any other dangly things.

ty Christine, LOL
Tim is still feeling poorly, but we're in chemo today, and they administered more nausea meds...hope we can get it under control...
I hope so too, Jellen
jellen do you work on top of being caregiver?
This seems like a tough grid.

Yeah, crappy all right. I am on a "vacation" with too many inlaws and I would like to zone out with something more satisfying.

Aw...sorry about the inlaws, Kaplan...
The inlaws are named Kaplan, which is why I should change my screen name.
sclere is the scientific base name for the bits of a sponge skeleton
Because Tim sleeps a lot, and likes me around, I've taken to reading ebooks and watching movies/tv shows online...
With headphones on so the noise doesn't bother him...
That's what I need here- headphones. Thank god for ambien.
The comedies on BBC Radio 7 can be quite diverting, too...
I listened to this one last night: Ring around the Bath Sitcom about a mother who battles with her grown-up children to leave home

I got that tip from Jellen - good tip too - I kept stopping the chog trying to answer questions
don't get discouraged saralise, this is a tough grid, they usually are this tough
It gets easier the more you do saralise. It is a matter of training your brain to read around corners so it won't happen overnight. Be patient and keep trying
ch 6/27?
thanks :)
do we have a new recruit? If so , welcome saralise - it does get easier
this is not a grid to cut your teeth on. it's a bugger

nice job dawg, how are you tonight?
sara - need help - check out licketys babble clues below and then go to morewords.com - HUGE help for me
you mean you have already had firewords?

I did this afternoon at 4:30 or so pm that is

is6.24 is plural form of is7, which is the butt bones you sit on
Glad you are well, min!

Remember the grid that was 243 words few days ago
50 left
Well the night before that I guessed it would be 242.
I started it with the resolve just to pluck at this grid...no winning focus
I am joining ruru's head on the keyboard - move over ruru
mantra - its only a game - it's only a game......
Ok tommorrow AM Dad has to have a lower leg operation. The doctors need to remove floating bone from his shin so it stops infecting the skin. Last year they did something and he was in hospital for ages.

as you point and shoot, make sure you don't mi6 and hit the wall.
well, the one good thing about this grid is usually when you finally see a word, several more jump out...I actaully have only 49 left!!
thanks for that one LBD
hey Jilly
go Jilly!
HI Kimmy
Hi stidm, thanks dawg
oh .. god.
jews was accepted because it is used as slang for haggling
words that are in the grid but don't register as accepted only means that Dr G didn't add them into that grid list. We'd have really monster grids otherwise
not to mention that enable is a quirky dictionary

wow.. stid that is really amazing..
you blew through it
most of the last ten were plurals (or singles) I had missed.
Is Dylan going to bigger than you thought, ru?
well done stid
Congrats, stid
my doberman was a woosie, but my minpin would take on rotties
not really BR.. I expect him to be about 80 pounds
I blew it all right, ruru! LOL
need pictures of him, ru!
80 lbs is a good size. you can still haul him around if you need to.
stid, you still glad to be in grad school?
he is looking pretty good..
he's very handsome
he'll start dog shows at 1 year old
he's got good genes. still want to see pictures of him.
NO BR, I am NOT. but I am going to persevere. at least that's how I feel tonight.
I'll try to get them on soon
I am scared and disillusioned and worried that my health won't hold up for another year.
Does Dylan have to join the actor's guild to be in dog shows?
will hold you to that, ru
i'll nag you as much as i nag my kid for pics of the grands!
please define "soon" ruru... before hockey sticks in hawaii?
awww stid .. you can do it! hang in there!
lol no BR

thanks wildcat. I am going to try. IF I give up I won't know. All I can do is my best.

yay! dylan pics
when i did my masters, we all had to take the MMPI, it was a matter of course that we all scored in the schizophrenic and sociopathic areas.
stid, be kinder to yourself. Reduce that stress. Work on that self-esteem ... you can do this ... believe it and lose the stress
LOL LBD! if I were to take it right now my anxiety/panic score would be off the charts
get the kids and hubby to help out more at home
lose the stress...send the kids to another planet! ;-) but BR's right, got to be kinder to yourself.
thanks wildcat. I am trying to set things up this summer so that I don't have to do much over the next school year... I think they CAN help more, but a lot of it will depend on how much energy I have.
I bet they'd be more motivated if they knew your success depended on them helping. Kids are funny like that
they need to help so you can rest when you can and save up that energy for what you need it for
thanks BR. stress I can't reduce (having MAJOR issues with one of the kids) but I am working very hard at correcting negative self talk. AND I am trying very hard to not use my sleeping pills... trying to get outside in the sun and work steadily through the day.
note, the stress over one of the kids is about challenges not of his own creation -- and the lack of will by the schools to address his needs.
ugh I am so stuck ... need all 5 and 6 letter words - m,g, a, h, r, c
ahh, but you're going to kick ass on that issue, Stid.
That is so unfortunate, stid
I know that can be very frustrating stid .. do what you can and try not to worry about the rest
I am going to kick ASSES (plural) LBD. I am so steamed... just waiting to get more data before I start making waves
I think I just mixed three metaphors...
maybe taking out your frustration on them will help with the stress level
not waves...tsunami!
mix as many as you want stid
actually wildcat, I am LOVING weeding this summer... LOL great stress relief
come weed here too then ... plenty to do
And remember, stid, we are here to listen too
and of course babbling. I am getting such great support from my friends here.
always
and offer friendly advice
thanks BR ((hugs)) I am afraid you-all will have to develop babble-ear-plugs before I am done!
we'll be fine
the advice I get here is marvelous. Even when I have already tried something, I feel as if it validates my decisions.
and my tom is wonderful, too. He eats anything I cook, and cooks when I don't have the energy.
Well, you know, a soft-spoken woosie like me, has NEVER confronted anyone about a perceived wrong.
oh! BR! today I made spring rolls!!! all by myself! *proud mama look* they were lumpy, but they held together, and tom and the boys took care of all the evidence...
rofl BR!!!
Yay for you, stid.
I learned how to make them last Saturday, from a friend. I can hardly wait to make them again.
sounds yummy
one of my coping strategies is trying new things -- one thing each day. that feels manageable.
i like spring rolls, except for the frying. wonder if i could bake them?
Mother says that feeling nervous about the upcoming teaching year is normal... she says I am "exceptional" LOL

there must be some kind of code written here I am lost
This is my first day
ahhh, look down to links, click onto lickety, provides lists for clueing
mung, are you familiar with Boggle?
WELCOME!!
yes
we try not to say a word in the chat room that appears in the grid. Thus the "hints" of 1 or 2 letters plus a number (number of letters in the word)
so, for example, I can't say **** today but I can say CL4 instead
brb
so, mung, this game give one Boggle-type grid per day, and the goal is to find all the words if you can. Today there are 224 words to find.
We get a new grid at midnight, US Central time, so there are only 25 minutes left to finish this one (!)
howdy!
mung, also, you should be aware that this game is highly ADDICTIVE lol
hi there Tea
Hi tNc!! here for the flip...did you finish this grid today?
i'm givin' up with 60 words to go. brain cells are dying. bye bye and POINK
