I'm diving into the grid.I will be back halfway finished.
hi dc jill minv, just noticed the flicker of the computer while applying for a federal job, what an application to fill out ...
Clues are up
Thank goodness, Lickety and thank YOU!
Hello...
ty Lickety
once you do one app for an agency, future apps are easier, weiik
Hi Jillibus! Did you see my comment before how your Van Gogh painting was so much brighter than mine?
Thanks Lickety!
hi jell, aren't u up late?
THANK you, Lickety!!
ty, lcikety
dreg
Oh! No, Min, I didn't see that!
pini, you'll remeber Edgar Degas now, yes?
I wish I could see the original painiting!
dc, I'm am hoping this one might get me in, they have alot of screens and no way to back track, just keep on trucking, I've been at this one over an hour
bleah
Please ignore the typos I make tonight -- fatigue.
I'm still tryin' dc...will have to look him up to make sure! :)
Good luck, weiik!
you okay dc?
worst app i've filed was with the George Washington University. Their process makes fed apps look easy.
I thought it was funny how out of all of the Van Gogh paintings to choose from, we picked the same one.
fe 8
great inds, min!
and se7 for the 7
*minds
well dc, did you get the job though?
ch4/9 word was also in the last grid.I just found word
not yet. i was one of a few from 7000 apps that got an interview for one set of positions i appied for at US DOT, though. I'm still targeting them.
good luck dc
oh, dc, people should be flocking to employ you!
how did you find out how many apps they got? Is that knowledge you can find on the site?
they told me in the interview
who would go through 7K apps? I would think they'd take the 1st 100 and throw the rest away, if even that many were read
i don't think site tells you.
anyway, bbl, I've got to finish this app b4 it times out from inactivity
i once personally read 200 paper resumes to hire an executive secretary, back when. So, with keywords, i think the electronic are easier.
Ty, jilli. i'm sure something'll come up as the economy slowly improves.
hi and nbt
i got through last grid with help from a british babbler who doesn't chat much anymore.

Didn't see him :(

ty doug
*groan*
this grid sucks
Hi JC
it starts slow, gadget
phantom grid
jilli, i see a man's head in chog, but art in your profile
Yes. You would have if you had logged in, Jill - hello to you and flosey.
hmmm not sure if to start when the first post I see reads 'this grid sucks'
oh, got it, rocks. very good pun, douglas
it's not particularly difficult
nice picture JC
oh, sorry -- must change the profile -- forgot to save what I put there. Not very awake.
thanks gremlinn I'll give it a go
Thank you, flosey.
grem did you put list in your profile?
yesterday - no need today, Lickety is up
oh ty didn't know
That's odd, dc -- I just checked my profile and I HAD saved what I put there. Maybe refresh?
though I should remove the one from yesterday from my profile
Oh, Douglas - yes, that is terribly bad. :P
i'll refresh again :)
your clue let me know that it was who i thought it was :) though i still see art there. ty, jilli
I'll go out and back in again, dc -- let me know if that helps.
Having a happy feeling of satisfaction for having made my contribution for the evening
It was a great clue, doug -- thanks!
finally! I had to reboot three times to get the chat log to load!
Hi jmc
fireworks
YAY anike!!!
congrats, anike
whoo hoo anike
congrats anike
wtg Anike
I show yesterday's grid on Lickety, even though the date has changed. Am I the only one?
did you reboot broll?
have you tried refresh clues broll
I have the right grid, broll
TY everyone. Now I must take my mother shopping - normal Friday afternoon stuff.
mine is okay
have a nice time with your mother anike
Happy babbling
broll, you may need to clear your browser cache
You mean f5? Or something else?
are you using IE or Firefox?
IE
tools>internet options>delete, then choose Cookies and Offline Content
then click delete
F5 will sometimes work or sometimes you have to close the window and open it again -- I had to try three times to get the chog to load this morning
then, close IE, reopen it, and go back in, and you should be good to go
chog is script that hangs on slow connections
hi dc how did you fair in the storm sunday or did it reach VA?
i was on Georgetown Pike and had tree limbs falling on my windshield :/ it was scary, and the tornado was right across the river
i dodged fallen limbs all the way home. happily, no trees fell on me/my path
our home kept power, though one block south was out for about an hour
it apparently went right through my neighborhood as my sainted sister drove to save my cat she left out doors that morning
my power was off for about 2 1/2 days
that was very good of her :)
foolish but very lovely
thx dc. Will try that.
on the other hand she just thought it was a thunderstorm when she set out to go over
jmcnrick - the instructions @ 1"10am - is that for clearing cookies ??
the instructions i gave are, christine. f5 refreshes the screen on Windows systems
i am so not doing well with african time -- a guy was suppose to meet me at 8 am and at 8:45 he sent a messanger saying he would come at 9 and it is now 9:15
ask dc for such things christine -- he is much more clever about such stuff
that sounds typical from what my friend's father told us of his dealings in Kenya -- he was with World Bank, and that was part of his territory.
Thank you - I'll save that for when/if I need to clear my cookies.
i suggest clearing the cookies at least monthly for best performance. you will need to reset a few options for sites like, say Google, but it's worth it, IMHO
i know this system since i have dealt with guatemala time for years but i neverlike it -- i am always a few minutes early for everything if i can
I told my daughter, if she didn't marry a saxplaying, Italian fireman, she should (at least) marry someone who knows something about computers -- kids never listen to Mum.
Changed my icon clue
LOL christine
good because i could find prince regent on the grid anywhere
*not
good clue/icon jilli
very pretty jill but I don't get it :-(
fireworks
i got both your clues, ty jilli
jmc, the other one was he4/5 -- didn't that show in the profile?
now i do!
whoo hooo volley
YAY dee!

bye flosey
oh, thanks dc, will check it out
42 left here -- not very bright tonight. I'll head for bed too -- goodnight all!
bye jilli
g'night jilli and flosey
btw, Charles is not prince regent -- he's not ruling.
of course i got the wrong title didn't i -- well what can i say but i am not a subject! lol
duke of windsor?
i do think his mum should give up the throne to him
he4 to the throne
there is some other title dc i am sure of it
Prince of Wales
Prince of Wales, Duke of Cornwall
shall I change back?
not windsor?
H*** apparent
windsor is his dad
he4 apparent
i am just glad haz is not on line! she would give me heck!
i thought when his uncle died he became duke of winsor
i am clearing talking through my hat!
goodnight again -- Christine can carry the torch or whatever.
lol good night jill
you are JMC :P
and *poof
the whole royal family's name is Windsor. So Charles Windsor, Edward Windsor etc. CHarles is Prince of Wales and Duke of Cornwall.
Prince of Wales. Duke of Windsor is extinct title
Philip is Duke of Edinburgh - not sure if there is a Windsor
Andrew is Duke of York
Edward isn't Duke of anything *snerk*
there was, but only for Edward on his abdication.
title died with him.
(Oops re Windsor) *repoof
anyway, i'm off to bed. happy babbling yall! {poof}
bye dc
sorry who is edward? i thought edward died.
Queen's youngest son
there's Charles, Anne, Andrew ad Edward
oh poor thing gets lost in all the tales of charles, andrew and anne
and not even a duke!
it's because he's rather crap :P
he is Earl of Wessex though
really do tell!
oh, he's just fairly hopeless. had a film production company that was hopeless. was fairly hopeless in the services. LOL
well i am relieved he is at least an earl -- it would have been dreadful if he had only been a sir or something
*gets a new hat*
there aren't that many dukedoms. York, Cornwall, Westminster, and some in scotland I think
really in all those regency romances i read the ground is literally strew with dukes
oh, ok, maybe I'm lying there. There are more than I thought!
the poor duke of york whose mad wife had an affair with Lord Byron does pop up a lot in the books though
In the United Kingdom, ducal titles which have been given within the royal family include Duke of Cornwall, Duke of Lancaster, Duke of Clarence, Duke of York, Duke of Gloucester, Duke of Bedford, Duke of Cumberland, Duke of Cambridge, Duke of Rothesay, Duke of Albany, Duke of Ross, Duke of Edinburgh, Duke of Kent, Duke of Sussex, and Duke of Connaught and Strathearn.
hi everyone, this grid looks hard
*offers ata her hat*
but half of those are Scottish
as well they should be ata
not too awful so far sandy
the DUchy of Lancaster is associated with the Treasury I *think*. Duke of Gloucester is a minor royal. As in Duke of Kent
so those are just the ones in the royal family
oh yes, the QUeen is DUke of Lancaster
they can be given to royal people, but not necessarily
of those only some of the titles are extant - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_d ukes_in_the_Peerage_of_the_United_King dom
don't you think 2 hours late is a lot even for african time?
and there i made chai and everything
3 hours late is definitey african late. 2 hours I think is still almost polite :P
ty for sharing ata since this whole topic arose because of my gaff about Prince Charles
well the chai is cold and with the milk around here i doubt i would drink it now
you're welcome! it's interesting, and horribly complicated
if he doesn't come soon i will miss tea
In 1999, Queen Elizabeth II's youngest son, Prince Edward, married Sophie Rhys-Jones. Younger sons of the monarch are normally given dukedoms at the time of their marriage, and experts had suggested the former royal dukedoms of Cambridge and Sussex as the most likely to be granted to Prince Edward, but he was instead created Earl of Wessex. When the earldom was created, the Palace announced that the Earl of Wessex would be created Duke of Edinburgh after the death of his father, Prince Philip, and his mother, Elizabeth II, when that title reverts back to the Crown.
i guess i have to tack on extra time since he sent a messenger at the 45 minute late mark saying he would come in 15 minutes which is now 45 minutes late -- cultural time keeping is so hard!
but what did the poor tyke do to be so ignored by the press? or were di and fergie so dazzling he and sophie never got a chance?
kinda a late marriage too it would seem
he's just a bit - useless. LOL. poor guy. everyone thought he was gay until he got married. he just doesn't do anything right, takes after his father
i can't say marrying precludes him being gay
well true
well i really don't want to be rude but i am sure getting restless waiting for this guy to show up
i wish my cell phone worked here
i may just walk down to his office and tell him to find me in the library
that sounds sensible
alright then i am off and may sign back in later in the library
enjoy!
ty for the british royalty lesson!
*poof*
why can't i have resit.... what do students do when they fail an exam...they 'resit' it
always enable's most annoying!
good morning everybody

Gotta go look for some Ys,
got the fo5/20 but cant see the fo5/24
got it:) ty
think Lauren FaCall
Hello everyone
Darm still missing one S.
Yay!! found it.
Time for a cuppa, but I'll come back, if anyone needs clues.
hi guys
obviously I am alone - or in coventry
hi sandy, I'm just up to get another blanket, woke up because I was cold!! see if I can finish up
what time there Flo?
2:20
5.21pm
ah, almost dinner time
can't sleep then?
it is nearly dinner , but I am not hungry , have been to dim sum lunch today
don't very often wake like this anymore, but think I just woke up cold
I thought it was summer there
it is, but nights cool down
and today was a lovely day, not too hot
we're pretty well surrounded by very tall trees
do you ever worry about bush fires?
yes, we do, when it is very hot and dry we can't bbq
it gets very hot here, I hate summer
Im not trying to keep you awake Flo lol
no camp fires, if we had a serious forest fire, it could be extremely dangerous
I'll nod off again soon
we have strict rules here too in the summer
you did have a very bad fire last year, wasn't it
not here but over east they do get some very bad ones- we get little ones around here - the fire department is onto them very quickly
mountain fires are difficult to manage - use water planes to help extinguish
I remember when daughter lived in Sydney saying that Sydney was covered in Smoke for days when they had a really bad fire there once
that's an awful smell too
I imagine that Canada has vast areas of forrest but in West Australia the bushland is probably much sparser due to the drier conditions
although we have had a few bad fires in our southwest forrests
yes our trees are mainly cedar and enormous
I believe that Canada is beautiful and I would love to go there one day
we lost a few this winter from high winds - fortunately, not near the house
I think you'd enjoy BC = it is quite varied
My father in law had a big tree fall on his house in Florida during a cyclone
there must have been quite some damage from that
dogs are barking we have a visitor , so I must go, bye for now sweet dreams
bye for now, thanks, hope it's happy company
Fireworks - and so, off to bed again
How many words today please
122, gran
Thanks
hi all
Hi Sprite. xx
Jac! *hugs* Nice to see you!
sorry for the late, am doing 2 websites at once and that is not my forte
How're things with you, Sprite?
things are looking up. Finally getting more energy and feeling more ready to face the world. And even enjoy it :) How are you doing, Jac?
hello
hi lady :)
Glad to hear it, Sprite! Me? Still limpng around. Only need crutches for distance (more than 5 yards) now or when I'm ti5/12.
Hi Herin.
glad it is improving a bit, Jac.
I was told it will be 6 weeks before fully healed.
Hi Jac
Hydra sent me a get well card with a funny poem in it. I've put the poem on my blog.
argh, so you need a lot of patience. Here, have a canful ;)
don't see a poem, only stats?
A canful of what? Alcohol IS a good painkiller but I don't want to be unsteady on my feet! LOL
Sprite - on my private blog (I think you have the address?) not my bio.
Oh, yesterday's stats. Must remember to remove those.
oh of course. I have the address, but lost the invitation etc :(
Sprite, I'll send you a new one in a bit.
oh wonderful! I loved reading your blog.
You'll have a lot to catch up on!
that is great, I can enjoy reading while I rest then
Speaking of which, shameless plug for my old schoolfriend's latest book coming up - I've been resting and reading 'The Pull of the Moon' by Diane Janes. A murder mystery set in the present day and back in 1972. Gripping book. Available from Amazon.
I ate too much pizza brain dead
Herin - you'll have to wash it down with Red Bull. That should get you going again.:-)
thanks Jac! I love a good mystery read.
hi everyone
Sprite - Diane's school essays were always worth reading. Quite a few writers came out of our school; we had a fantastic English teacher.
Hi Sandy.
hi jac, sprite herin
HI Sandy
Jac no I need to sleep
Herin - Ah! No caffeine drinks then. Get some kip and do the grid in the morning.
Coffee is fine
Drinking coke at the moment
Neither of those will help you sleep!
*hands lady a rubber hammer*
FIREWORKS!:-)
well done jac, maybe you could help me with a clue for the first fe6 it is driving me nuts
wtg Jac! *happy dance for Jac*
Alternative spelling for a tiny magical being with wings, sandy.
thank you jac
It's actually a Scottish word for 'strong' but the clue I gave will lead you there better, I think.
y/w Sandy.
Any more clues wanted before I go off to do Sprite's blog invitation again?
Given up here
*hugs Jac* Not for me yet, thanks. Looking forward to your blog!
Herin - it'll all seem clearer in the morning. Sleep well.
Not going yet. Robbie is on Tv
Okay, I'm off to do the invitation and then see if I can find my step daughter. I need to measure her head in order to start making her a Mad Hatter top hat for a fancy dress she's going to next week.
Happy Babbling all.X
bye Jac :D
Bye Jac
mornin babblers!
Hi Eva did you get my FB message?
hiya EvaN!
Sprite - invitation sent.
Hi and 'bye EvaN.
Jac, thank you!
herin, i got your message, but i dont have horseshoes as an option to give away. (and i cant use the facebook chat when im at work, as it freezes up my computer)
Thank you
Sorry Eva didn't mean to bother you. How about a bee :D
sorry
no bother. just multi-tasking this morning. my brain is in a million different places right now, but MOST of it is fast-forwarding to our cake tasting tonight. :) and im SO super excited that i finally found a queen bee! YAY!
mmmm cake
And I pinched it off your share too Thanks that was driving me nuts
me too. none of my friends were planting flowers! doh!
As for cake just stick a mars bar cake in front of me and I will be happy. Actually better yet I would make it my self as I am super picky
this is actually our second tasting at this place. the first tasting was really someone elses flavors, which we werent too fond of, but the cake in general was nice. so this time, we get to taste the flavors we are actually interested in. :)
wow EvaN, it is going to be so wonderful
mmmm cake
sprite, i cant wait! we have i think 2 other bakeries we want to check out, but so far, this one is the front-runner.
Eva this seems like so much work but quiet great rewards
this part isnt work...heh
No it is tasty work
i had my hair appt last night, so i got to play with my hair flower (it is a flower made out of feathers) and i LOVE it!!
sounds great
You sound so bouncy even from here
i am kinda bouncy this morning. :)
the metro sto pi exit from on my way to work often has street musicians outside. one duop that is often there are these 2 men who play the violin and bass guitar. they play everything from classical music to 80s rock to pop hits, bit it always has a classical feel to it. this morning they were playing the song "hallelujah" and it really put me in a good mood. :)
you are in the flow, EvaN :D
::dances::
::dances with EvaN:: It is wonderful to see you so happy.
:) im hungry too. but since im having cake later, i should probably have a healthy-ish breakfast. but i WANT sausage and eggs and potatoes...
hrm. i could have a salad for lunch....heh
gooooo with the flowwwww
back in a flash!
Hi everyone.
hiya Sally!
HI sally
Some strange words today.
yes, another grid that is very interesting... and tough ;)
How are the health problems today sprite?
I had a friend and her 4 yo son visiting he4. So am very ti5 and sore, but had a wonderful time. We have been friends since we were 6 yo.
Slow for me sprite. Just finished the Cs - can't believe I missed some of the ci words until I really thought about it!
ty for the ti5 - I'm really not seeing the obvious ones!
ahh. breakfast is served. :)
wtg Sally!
*sits down next to EvaN and looks at her hungry*
What's for breakfast EvaN?
*shares her breakfast with sprite and sally* sausage patty, potatoes + bard-boiled eggs today.
and a side of ketchup. :)
Ooooh. mmmmm
yummmmmy!
salad for lunch, salad for lunch, salad for lunch...
oh yes, salad... with little bits of fried bacon... cashew nuts... or pine tree seeds...
Did you make this breakfast yourself or bought it?
*whispers, in case crossy is listening* im actually not a big bacon person. i usually order meals sans-bacon.
bought it at the caf. it was either that or wash my bowls and have cheerios.
usually me too. But on a salad... just a touch... yummy
and i didnt feel like doing dishes just yet.
I love bacon. We did B&B for a while, and it was always good when they didn't want bacon because I'd already cooked it ... would have been a shame to waste it:-)
LOL
heh. i feel the same about cheese. :)
We have some fabulous independent butchers here in Ludlow who cure their own bacon. Dribble.
Grrr.....the F is making me mutter f-words!
lol jmitch, I can imagine!
Don't think you have the right letters, jmitch!
indeed, missing a U and K from this grid
loolll!
actually it's the top F thats aggravating
I only have one of those.
Have both now - do you need any clues for them?
I would indeed....it's for NBT
fy 4/10 - rhymes with what you might use with your PC.
fyboard?
THANK YOU.....I get somewhat fixated on getting NBT before my 2nd cup of coffee!
There's always one :-)
thank gods to that.
i need the lower Y and the W for NBT. and the 7 and the 8 for NBS. :)
I have badgered him out of the house to get cough drubgs
Do you want the stats or clues EvaN?
i guess i shall start with stats. :)
wo 5/24 and plural
yo 4/8, allied yo 5/20 and yo 4/10
hi all - just got on break and a little worse for wear :)
TY sally. :)
mornin NB!!
you sound cheerful, Eva! :)
Hi NB. Are you ever /not/ worse for wear? :-)
im in quite a perky mood this morning. :)
Hi NB. Did you fix the Yahoo issue?
I wasn't even out last night! Just up drinking and talking to friends - nothing quite like going to bed at half five and thinking, "I have to get up in four hours.." had a lot of fun though.
for anyone who may be interested, this is the feathered hair flower i decided on: http://tinyurl.com/29dbyu8
Visitor. Back later.
Pretty Eva
Hopefully I did, Herin. There's a whole big fat page of further privacy settings. Still not sure how you came across my page though, since I can't be searched for!
did you find your shoes?
I did not search for you NB it was just there. I have no idea either. I did not search for you or have your email so I have no idea
oh that'll look lovely on you, Eva!
herin, i found *some* shoes, which i really like and bought since they were on mega-sale for only $20. they arent my *perfect* shoes, so i am going to keep looking in case i find something even more perfect, but i do quite like these. :)
you mean it was there as a suggested connection? maybe it's a mutual friend.
No idea. NB
thankyou, dear. my hairdresser and i had fun playing with it at my appt last night. but i left it in her trusted hands, so hopefully it stays safe!
and no
Tat is good Eva
The only person is JC Nancy that had my email addy
Nice, you will look stunning on your wday. EvaNadine
I'm sure it will be safe there, Eva ;) but looking at that picture of a lovely feminine bride has made me super aware that I have hair pulled back and that kind of 'up all night' pale face ;) Mr Right will walk in today, take one look at me and leave again..
Well, JC is a very dear friend of mine :)
that is the only link and I thought I would tell you
well, I have my settings jacked up now, so it won't be a problem anymore!
It isn't showing now
hi Nancy Boy, Christa
oh dear - unattractively hungover or not, a dozen burly strangers are calling for my attention ;) bye!
*wraps arms around NB to keep him safe from the big, bag online world*
...big bag? :P
big, baD* *yawn*
but I must *poof* - in all senses of the word. be good, Eva ;)
you too, dearest. ;)
bye Nancy Boy
I am trying to sort out flights for my dads birthday all prices have changed pita
you will find a good one, lady :)
A lot of chargers
never heard of such a thing befor
It really is obscene Sprite. The flight may be $40 then they add were you sit and cost of charging your booking and tax and and and
very frustrating :(
I just think it is such a rip off
hello all!
Good morning. May I please have a clue for the F?
hi car.ee
Hi!
Hi Care
Hi Ardilla
hi ardilla
Make that the top F.
this morning, at 10AM, my husband, on his regular walk in our village, was attacked and severely bitten. He's now in the hospital as when we went to check out of emergency, he passed out.
fy 4/10
It seems to have provoked a cardiac event
Ruby!!!! Oh my goodness! What bit him?
so sorrty to hear that ruby
Ruby, that is awful
fortunately neighbors called SAMU and the police. Nobody has found the dog and he has already had 3 rabies shots
husband, that is
oh my, ruby
Ruby...(((hugs))) for you and your sweetie. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. How scary!
i'll keep you and the hubby in my prayers... *hugs
thank you for your kind wishes. The dog's French name is Beauceron and he said it's bigger than a doberman and colored like a rottweiler
Sorry to be a lurker, but that must have been terrifying for your husband! Hope all is ok and the animal is found soon!
Ruby, that is awful, is he still in hospital and was the bite really bad?
the worst part was when he passed out while standing and waiting. I can't lift him.
O Hugs Ruby
I imagine! Dead weight is bad enough, but am sure he was very heavy.
oh rubyfoo, how very scary!
The bite was too bad for them to stitch it. One bite is small but the other is about 4" across and very deep. The dog must have eaten what he bit off!
Had that happen to my son. They said it was a puncture, and they couldn't stitch it.
He only weighs about 150 lbs, but I am much smaller. At least we were still at the hospital, so there were people around to help
(((ruby)))) dreadful...my thoughts and prayers are with you and your hubby
Ruby, that is so terrible, how is he now?
the dog took all the flesh and into the muscle of his forearm
How many shots do they do for rabies?
they have him on heart monitors because of his history (fortunately, at the same hospital).
We don't have rabies here, - do you think the dog had rabies?
they did 3 right away and I have to call there next week, maybe for more, I don't know. And of course, everything has to be conducted in French.
They have to assume it's rabies. Most dogs don't attack for no reason. Don't they do the treatment regardless?
You poor thing I feel so sorry to hear this!
I guess they must have rabies in France because there is a special office at the hospital called "rabidologie" or something like that
I feel so sorry for him and he just wants to come home. I am afraid that he will pass out again and then, what
You're in the right place...they can take care of him...
Better off where he is at the moment until he gets over the shock for a start
If he passed out, perhaps, he should stay overnight for observation
he should definitely
I would prefer that, but he is threatening to check himself out
Take his shoes and trousers away.
that makes things difficult, can you reason with hem
him
MEN
O I like that idea Haz
Even grumpy men like to wear trousers and shoes when they leave hospital.
they had to cut off his shirt and sweatshirt in the ambulance as he was bleeding so much and they couldn't get to the wounds
There you are - no top half and no bottom half - he stays.
I have his wallet and credit cards!
Ruby, this is horrific
he has his bloody sneakers
what do the doctors say? do they want him to stay?
Hazel has the right idea. Have a doctor explain to him the danger of going home at the present time
they're still waiting for results of his blood test to see if he had another heart attack, I think
He must be suffering from shock - he needs to stay
Did they find the dog?
What sort of state are you in, ruby?
my usual calm, collected self HAHAHAH
trembling, verge of tears, etc.
no, they didn't find the dog
(((((((()))))))))))
I think I'll try to google it and make photos and put them in people's mailboxes up above us where it happened
Right, so you're in no fit state to look after him. Tell him that, if necessary make yourself the reason he has to stay.
It is a small village surely someone will know
and the hospital is a 20 minute drive in heavy traffic
I'm afraid it was a transient (traveller)
Ruby, are you at the hospital now on your laptop?
ruby, as for the rabies thing, although France isn't officially rabies free, there's not a high chance of the dog having rabies. As it is, your husband has been treated, so don't worry about that side of things.
Is there any friend or neighbour who could come to the hospital to be with you?
don't have a laptop or a cellphone. He sent me home to take care of the dogs, feed the birds and fish, etc. There is nothing I can do before 6:30 when the cardiologist will go to see him
Okay, so you're home - same question applies, have you told friends and neighbours?
they offer, but he would be very embarrassed
I am glad you are at home, you can't do anything at the hospital and he might behave better for the doctors
yes, everybody came running after they saw the ambulance and heard all the commotion. We live on a tiny road
Never mind his embarrassment, it's you I'm thinking of. Have someone else there to take some of the burden from you.
I'll have to go back for a while at 6
Try to get someone else to go with you, if only for company.
are you up to driving? you must be feeling shocked as well
Ruby accept help if you need it. You can't be in two places at once. It isn't like you are asking them to wash your dirty clothes
I am with Haz. Take somebody with you, who will be supportive to you.
The first time I went, soon after he went by ambulance, a neighbor drove me and waited in emergency with me and then brought me home. I went back by myself to check him out when he passed out
Must be hard when you are away from family
have something to eat and a cup of tea
Good for the neighbour - it's lovely to have people you can call upon in a crisis.
you are all helping me to calm down. Thank you for the much-needed support. It is hard to do all this in French as I'm not as good a polyglot as Sprite
If we were there, we would all come with you and do crosswords in the waiting room
my french would be lousy in a crisis too
Just keep saying 'Zut alors!' and 'Sacre Bleu' and they'll know there's a problem.
he will be ok Ruby, once he gets some rest, treatment and time to get over the shock
the wound is so nasty, that the local nurse will have to come and change the dressing every day! can you imagine?
what if a little child had passed that dog.....
Can't imagine, it would have been so frightening
dog bites can be very ugly. It is good that a professional nurse will take care of it.
She may be an ally in recognising that his grumpiness may be more than grumpiness.
Haz, what is Sacre Bleu? Except holy blue?
that's a good idea, haz, and his local GP is going to come also, as I've alerted him
Your guess is as good as mine - the French are awfully fond of bleu - cordon bleu, sacre bleu, you name it.
for a moment, I thought he was dead, when he passed out
Ruby can you get the docs to translate to English for you?
lol ok... thanks Haz :)
you poor thing you are obviously feeling very shocked yourself, it is a horrible experience
Seriously, it may be the opportunity you need to have him properly assessed. You've said before that he turns on the charm.
I understand almost everything, I just get a little tongue-tied. One of them knew a little English, also
Haz has a good idea here, you could take the opportunity to talk to someone
and they give me lots of written instructions
have you made yourself a good cup of tea with sugar, rubyfoo?
::still dancing::
I'm just sitting here with my pup as she, too, was very upset. I'll go get the tea and be back
good
made a calming tisane!
For a minute there, I thought my mobile phone was ringing. It's an ice-cream van - on a day best described as dr6/27. The ice-cream man must be a real optimist.
Ruby I think Haz a point like you could put to the doctor it is best he gets a proper mental check after a horrid scare with a horrid bite
hello,babblers!
HI TO
very good suggestions, but now I just want to get him home in one piece, even grumpy!!
Hello TO!
haz haven't seen you in ages it seems
Let him stay in hospital until you can be sure that he won't keel over again. It won't kill him to be in hospital for a day or two.
I know, TO, we seem to be on at different times.
hello TO
hello herein hello ruby
How are you doing?
i am ok. vacation begins a week from tomorrow. oh, i mus tchang emy icon

Good morning, peeps!
Ruby, what time is it for you now?
hi Judi
Hello, Judi!
hi judi
4:45PM
I have to go back in an hour or so
must hang laundry, bbs
::still dancing, now singing:: *tonto! jump on it! jump on it! jump on it!*
Breath Eva
you sound a lot calmer now, rubyfoo.
Hello kids!
are you ok ruby?
if they convince him to stay, just find out how he is, what he needs and dont stay too long , let him get some sleep and you need sleep as well
cant help it, herin! im in a dancy mood! ::dances::
hi scrab
I am hoping they convince him
Hello, Scrabbler!
hello scrabs! *poof*
hi scrabbler
hi Scrabs! Lonnnnng time no see. How are you?
Uh, oh, Ruby. I guess I missed what happened, but I hope you are ok.
I am doing well. My little netbook crashed and my desktop PC is SLOW, so I wasn't he4 for a week or so.
and ruby, if it isn't too hot, you may want to do some little things in the garden. It will help you get back on your feet.
scrab, scroll down through the chat because it was terrible
I'm OK but husband was badly bitten after being attacked by a big dog and is having heart problems in hospital
Scrabs it is lovely to see you again.
Uh, oh! Neighbor's dog?
chog is comforting me {{everybody}}
no, strange dog
Netbook is fixed and next I will bring my desktop for a tuneup, especially after finding a wonderful computer tech.
Did he need surgery?
herd
oh ruby, am so sorry to hear that, i do wish him all the best and a speedy recovery
hello everybody
Oops, sorry. I lost Babble Expert when this netbook crashed.
hi jacq
hi jacq
heya scrabbler
You hadn't had the netbook very long, Scrabbler?
ty jacq
I just tried to look up the dog, but the window wouldn't open
Ruby - I was reading back in the chat. What a horrifying experience for both of you. Hope hubby is on the mend.
how can I get babble expert onto my laptop, I have it on the pc?
"beauceron" anyone?
18 months. I believe the problem began when I clicked on a pop-up--phony Microsoft window--that then caused the crash. My security system did not alert me.
It's reckoned to be a guard/herding dog, ruby.
it looks like a german shepherd
Looks like a chow.
Sandy, I will e-mail Babble Expert to myself from my desktop, then download it he4.
good morning everyone;)
f
Where are his injuries, Ruby?
From the region of La Beauce, near Paris. Only recently accepted by British Kennel Club.
HI CROSSY!!
SCWABBY!
Hiya, Crossy!
heya crossy
::sings:: *salt-n-pepa's here and we're in effect!*
wow Nadine, you're in a good mood
howdy jacq,judi et al;)
two bites on his right arm (he's a leftie), one very deep and big, like 4" across
hiya crossy
Crossy, my netbook's OS crashed but I found a great computer tech to fix everything. I had fun reloading FF + add-ons last night.
Scrabler what did you buy?
Any nerve damage?
hi crossy
I have an Acer Aspire One.
uh oh,well good you found someone, butt you had a back up disk anyways right?
howdy ruby
I don't think so, more worried about his heart
ruby, just emailed you a pic of the dog let me know if you can see it
Sorry Scrabbler mistake number one. Acers are crap
sorry
he's in hospital right now? if so they will give him all the shots he needs but getting the dog would be good
I had some stuff on a flash drive but learned that I must do regular back-ups.
Anyway, I must go and get on with things. Ruby, I hope things turn out okay for you. Stand your ground, refuse to bring him home tonight (have no clothes with you!) and see him again in the morning.
Bye Haz
what happened ruby?
Bossyboots tuning out.... Bye!
Bye Haz
jac, im in a very good mood today. :) (just wish that would translate over into gettig WORK done!)
photo didn't arrive yet, sandy, I'll watch for it
*gone*
Lady, I have had no problems til now, 18 mo later. And I think it was my fault for clicking on a popup that was phony for Microsoft Scurity
Ruby did you see my email?
bye Haz and I appreciate your wise words!
bye Haz :)
ok ruby should arrive in a minute
they look strong and fierce
ahh phony microsoft link..an oldie but a goodie
I have been awake for 2 hrs and have only been on internet. Need breakfast, shower, and begin cleaning for visitors coming tomorrow
those are ugly
Crossy, a millisecond after I clicked it I realized my error.
lol Scrabs... good luck with that and have a good day
Scrabbler I was on a trusted website and had a pop up and it was one that caused a stutter. I was all that is rude
ruby, i have to agree with haz, refuse to bring him hone make sure he gets rest there where they can deal with anything
and never,EVER, click on a link for free security scan,or hard drive clean,or free virus checker
Ruby, talk with the nurses + doctor(s) privately re your concerns
you want anit virus or other similar thing ,ask crossy
I love Haz's advice on the clothes. Just do not bring any. Brilliant.
Ruby, I agree with jac and haz, you need to convince the doctors that you cannot cope with him
Crossy, it looked EXACTLY like Microsoft--font, symbols
i take it your husband was bitten by a dog? an knknown dog?
yes, take them into another room and talk to them
I have AVG + Spybot
i had something wipe out my wireless yesterday and change my default search, then i got a pop-up when trying to click a word on here to find it's definition
i have avg too, it's great
avg rocks
Scrabbler we have been hit with that virus at home and and work. it is nearly impossible to know until it is too late
I use the free AVG, not the broader stuff that one must pay for
horribly bitten, TO, and then passed out when I was trying to check him out. His heart is not the greatest!
ruby, i forgot to click 'send' i just did it lol
I like COMODO
unfortunately the same minds that develop good software also develop invasive software
omg, was did you know the dog? sorry, i will go back in the chog
ahh now i know, hubby was bitten by a dog?? hope he will be ok,did they catch the dog?
I need breakfast! So hungry.
no a strange dog
Good luck, Ruby. Soon this will all be just a bad memory
a strange, huge dog, a beauceron
oh my!
not the most common dog in the world, hopefully they can track it down
check for rabies
they are quite common in france crossy
Was it just running loose, Ruby, or did someone have it on a leash?
if the dogs owner was a transient the police will be aware of their presence
sent another email with temperament description ruby, hmmmmmm
whatever happened to my laptop yesterday changed the default settings for almost everything and deleted saved passwords to everything but babble
strange
does not sound good jacq
sounds like a very vicious thing, jacq
no it doesn't
run avg and ad-aware,i think you may have some spyware
scans haven't picked up anything
i have malwarebytes, excellent prog
Or malware.
yep
how odd, i just realised avg didn't run it's scan when i started up
mmm..sounds familliar
I just received Sandy's photo of the dog. Not very pretty
it does doesn't it
brb
rerunning scans now with different settings
judi: the guy had it on a leash and let it go when it ran toward my husband who was just walking by
reminds me,i shall go and create a backup save/restore point
seems close to german shepherd in looks, size, use - but not in temperament
did you contact the police ruby?
I sure wouldn't like to get bitten by one and the temperament description I sent you Ruby sounds like it was written by a fan of the breed
the guy better have a good insurance plan...
cause anything his dog does,he pays for
parson my french but WTF are you kidding me ruby?
oh yes, the police and the gendarmes came right away along with the ambulance and then tried to find the dog but said they couldn't.
and the man?
*face palm* Unbelievable, Ruby! Hope you can find the imbecile and sue his pants off.
this is not exactly the crime-fighting capitol!!
did they get the owner's name?
what judi said
I just hope they find and destroy the dog! It could kills someone smaller than my husband
sounds to me like you need to go to the local paper, as much publicity as possible will prevent this happening to anyone else, especially a child, the owner hardly sounds caring and responsible
he did this deliberately?
do they have the owners id ,so he can pay for the medical bills??
no, they didn't find the dog or the owner and husband didn't know where they came from but he was very shocky
what jacq said
we'll probably have to pay
didn't the owner show concern? and Ruby, did you see the attack take place?
oh heck ruby, please say you have insurance
sorry we are swamping you with bits and pieces
you must follow this up ,so a child is not the next to get bit,go to the papers if thats what it takes
Ruby you say that the dog was a Beauceron from what I read they seem a sort of German shepard guard type dog. Sad that the dog bit someone and sad that they will destroy the dog because the owner is too stupid to have the dog on a lead and muzzled.(yes my friend has a shepard type dog and she is always muzzled because people are unpredictable just like they are)
if it is a small town the dog will be known. don't imagine your poor husband is in much of a position to describe him
I just called the hospital. No, we are not insured. My husband NEVER approaches strange dogs and also is not afraid of them. He wasn't close to it, was on his usual walking route, crossed the road to not go to close, and the owner let the dog run at him. Totally crazy!
Ruby that is not good. :(
As we have two big dogs and he has a lot of experience, you can imagine how shocked he was, unfortunately too shocked to describe the guy to the police
in
that sounds like the behavior of someone who is not all there
i would raise the whole town to find owner and dog, call the cops 3 times a day, meet with every single newspaper editor, the whole thing
in Aus, we have free public hospitals - is that the same in France Ruby?
as no doubt they would plead when caught
he may have been a transient, a "sans-abri" or traveller.
Ruby I am just saying that it is sad that when they find the dog they will destroy it because its' human was stupid
No, only if you're French
You are a resident though?
but I think that once a dog has bitten like that and eaten a large chunk of flesh, it can never be safe to have around
but only insured in the US
herein, the human was not stupid. the human was a criminal.
The police should be conducting a criminal investigation. Your husband is a victim of a crime - a viscious assault.
what judi said
do not let them sweep this under the rug, with you having to pay medical bills
*vicious* (sorry, can't spell when I'm outraged)
TO stupid covers it all. Stupid to own a dog that they can't control and stupid not to think about the consequences of their actions. I do feel for the dog.
Absolutely and the dog should be put down- it could have been a child who would probably be dead now
lol kinda pissed off myself judi
I have to go back to the hospital now and agree with you judi. I have to go to the gendarmerie with all the paperwork and they will try to arrest the guy and re-coup the money. Fat chance!
yes herein it does
ruby, is there no aid for crime victims in france?
ok Ruby, lots of love and big hugs, take care and could you email me and let me know how hubby is?
If it is a public area - perhaps there are video cameras around? That might help the investigation.
the police consider it a criminal offense but what are the chances of them finding the guy. Husband provided almost no description.
do your best ruby ... I agree about going to the papers tho .. the more people who are aware, the more chance there is to catch him.. ((((hugs))))
ruby i hope your husband heald well. that is the most iportant thing.
lol, give us your full name and the name of the local paper,we can all bomb their e-mail in-box about this..hehe
yes, sandy, I'll e-mail you and will be back in the game after I take care of husband, dogs, fish, birds and, last of all, MOI {{everybody}} with heartfelt thanks to you all
Hugs to you and yours Ruby
*poof*
Good idea, Crossy. Windows has built-in translation software. Let's storm the Bastille!
(((RUBY)))
indeed judi!!
they get five thousand babblers mailing them about this case it will get them interested in a hurry.strength in numbers!!
good luck, rubyfoo.
My little kitty is so happy that ''daddy'' is home

When were were first married, my husband worked as an engineer at a job that also paid him per diem. 5 years later, the gov said we owed them money on a huge chunk of money. when we contacted the employer, they said all the records were in a warehouse in
boston, we would have to search for them ourselves.. We ended up having to pay.....

Hi everybody :-)
hi sood
Hi Weiik. Everybody must be deep in the grid. :-)
I was on a the flip, and had a few b4 finishing my app for a fed job, now on break from job search, how about you?
Haha, yup... half the words are easy and half are pretty entrenched
Looking out at a horrible, grey day......
*just got a compliment on my outfit + shoes from the super-stylish lady who works down the hall* ::pats self on back::
wtg evan
Hi Mside, and Eva.
::smiles::
hello, back from the hospital
hi ruby, everything okay?
{{{Rubes}}}}. Wy
why wer you at the hospital?
Ruby?
poor crossy will hv to hear it again, but husband was attacked and viciously bitten by a large dog this AM on his regular walk and had to be taken to the hospital by ambulance, police, neighbors and gendarmes were involved, and then, when I tried to check him out of the emergency room, he passed out.
Oh my, Ruby. Thats too bad. How is he now?
I finally convinced him to spend the night so they could monitor his heart rate and keep changing the dressing on the huge, deep wound on his arm
it is truly horrible
and they haven't found the dog or its owner. He already had 3 rabies shots
was this dog lose, or walked by owner, I have a similiar story with my dog, but, she was attacked. best to his recovery
{{{{Rubes}}}}} How awful for him, and you too. He must be very shaken.
the man had the dog on a leash, but when it lunged at my husband, who was just walking by, he dropped the leash
those rabies shot hurt .. but, without the dog it is a wise precaution
That is incredible. Did the dog's owner not do anything to try to help?
the hospital didn't even wait to see if the police found the dog.
I can just imagine the type of dog .... what happened to the days of muzzles
nope. If they catch him, he'll be charged with a crime
it's a beauceron, like a huge black short-haired German shepherd but I think bred for viciousness!
He should be locked up, and much as I love animals, that dog will have to be destroyed.
they're required for that kind of dog (as well as pit bulls and staffordshire terriers and, I think, rottweilers and dobermans)
can you imagine if a little kid had walked by? It actually took my husband down and bit him a second time. The wound was so large and so deep that the dog must have eaten a chunk of his arm
just the type of dog you want someone walking around and not taking precautions with, here in Phila there are pit bulls galore, I wish they'd stop the breed, more are in the pound waiting for their demise .. very sad to see
ruby, is he still in the hospital, hopefully they can graph skin from another part of the body once the infection is under control
I think its the person who trains a dog to be vicious should be punished. We have had rothweillers here for years, and because we had them from pups, and trained them properly, we never had any ugly episodes.
Are you OK Ruby? Are u
Aaargh. Are you used to being home alone, or have you got somebody to sit with you?
my thuoghtw with you and your husband for a speedy recovery ,,,, we have a vicious akita here, I can't let my dog out loose without being on top of her, that dog tried to kill mine ages ago ..
it's crazy to have a dog you can't or won't control. We have two big dogs but 1) they don't bite and 2) they are never out without a leash
rry, it was the nurse on the phone. she has to come to the house everyday for two weeks to change the dressing
Well, thats good, Ruby. She can keep an eye out for infections etc. Plus, it saves you from doing a nasty job.
don't miss a day, make sure they pack the wound with antibiotics and setrile dressing, a friend had problems with his, keep eye on drainage also
we had a friend in Miami with the sweetest Rottweiler in the world, his only problem being that he had a crush on me and was much bigger.....
Lol. Good to see your still laughing, Rubes. I would be halfway down the Xanax pack by now, if I were you!!
for sure!
been there before too .. I dislike xanax as much as I like it
I felt so sorry for my husband, though, he really wanted to come home and looked pathetic in the hospital bed. The charming doctor said to him "This isn't a prison! If you want to go home, go, just sign a release so if you fall and drop dead, I won't go to jail!" Can you imagine that?
bedside manner!
Hey ruby! Nipped back into the chog to see if you were back. Sounds like an understanding doctor!! How are you?
I'm OK, but I feel sorry for my husband
I dis like hospitals also, but, know when to stay over for safety sake
Seriously that doctor sounds as if he's using good psychology.
I'm sure he's really worried, but in the safest place overnight.
I gather that you read my endless discussion when I first came back
Yes, I looked back in the chog but had just missed you. So sorry for you both.
Is husband in a lot of pain?
ed
no, she! I think they don't like Americans in our hospital because when we had our car accident and I had a fractured sternum and they kept me waiting more than 2 hrs AFTER the x-ray, the doctor said to me "What do you think this is, a supermarket?"
poof, work calls, best to you ruby
so far, says he isn't and that the rabies shots didn't hurt, but I think he just has a very high pain threshhold
thank you weiik
But I should think your husband is in shock, and shock can have very serious effects.
Bless him, he is probably still in shock.
Great minds, Sally, lol
Anyway, sadly I have to go and get dinner on, so {{hugs}} again to you ruby. Let us know how he is tomorrow.
and he passed out 3 times in the hospital. I was afraid that if he came home tonight, he would fall in the house and there is no way I can help him up
thank you sally!!
he was so shocky after, that he didn't give a decent description of the man to the police or gendarmes
Very wise, Ruby. Nobody likes being in hospital, but its the best place for him right now. Are you on your own, or have you somebody to stay with you, you are probably quite shocked yourself.
I have my pups! Not a problem being alone
I don't know if you have ever read Dirk Bogarde's volumes of autobiography, but he lived in France for many years, but he said in one book "never be ill except in your own country" - or words to that effect. Husband is probably feeling more worried being in French instead of US hospital. Different procedures etc.
I'll just take my Xanax and watch TV or read.
Also, since he can't hear anyway, his French comprehension is virtually nil. At least when I'm there, I can do (loud) translations
Is Xanax a sedative?
Poor man.
I think Dirk Bogarde was right!
It's an anti-anxiolytic for people who wakes up during the night obsessing
He was a wonderful writer, and worth reading his autobiographical books, how he made a garden and so on in rural France.
or who can't spell or write correct sentences lol lol
I will look for them in Amazon
When you come and stay and look at our pond :-) I will lend them to you.
sounds like a wonderful idea, sally, and very tempting this very moment! Especially this moment when the world is sort of crashing in
I'll look out the most relevant ones and let you have the titles. I think there are six altogether.
perfect
Hant in there ruby.
That will be some visit. Ruby and Sally discussing pond-nets!!! (I am only jealous - I have neither a pond, nor pond-nets!!).
{{sally}}
I have several ponds, but no pond-nets!!
when you visit here, soodle, I will show you our pond and Sally's nets!!!!
the waterlilies are growing through and around the nets so they are totally unobstrusive!
That's amazing. Now, really must go and prepare some courgettes (zucchini to you furriners!)
bon appetit!
evening all :)
**gone**
through all this misery, I've gotten 65 words but no 7's or 8's
any clues, soodle?
hi NB
Sorry - was distracted there - let me look...
ooh, I just got fireworks. So I might be able to clue, if you need anything :)
FE 8/55
7's or 8's smart boy!
se7/40, ti 8/60 (a lovely word...)
I need a little more than than, pls, soodle!
ooh I love that ti8 - a big cat + what you use to see
Oooh. TI 8 - Seeing organ of a lovely big stripey animal.
what a lovely word!
*feeling VERY good for being called 'smart boy'* ;)
{{NB}}
FE 8/55. FE plus cons, plus vowel and what men wear around their necks.
there's also se7: s + ed6 meaning to be daringly innovative
how about g g g g g g g g
got the fe8, ty soodle
working on se7....
sorry, my clues suck. I wouldn't get the words from them ;)
got it! ty ed** boy!
I got the se7 from your clue, NB!
If somebody was more on edge than you, they would be ****** than you, and add a curly cons on front. For SE 7/40.... (very dodgy clue...)
Soodle to the PB!
I enjoy cluing Ruby, she takes good care of my ego :)
ed** in a swampy way
hah!
hello ata!
I knew it, I knew it I knew it. I was so carefully trying to avoid another word, I went and overdosed on a different one. Slonks off to the PB.....
loooll awww :) and hi!
I'll join you for a much-needed grog!
Faint voice from the PB - Come on in, Rubes....Drinks are waiting....
sounds like we've got the beginnings of a great party!
I'll whip up some guacamole!
mmmmmmm guacamole
I have some pickled onions and cheese sticks....
better and better!
I have chocolate cake but I'm not in the PB so you can't have any LMAO
*throws it in*
woof
Oh Rubes! Was that a freudian woof?
after today's drama, probably!
oh yes Ruby, sorry to hear about that...how is he doing?
I'm sure he's miserable and feeling abandoned, but that was the best I could do!
he's not abandoned, he's being looking after by the best!
I hope!
ohh, is the the type who gets grumpy when ill etc?
Correct. Ata.
actually, he's nicer when ill....hah
LMAO at your pic, Soodle!
it's when he feels good, that he's nasty
Thats Buster, Ata. He is growinng like a weed. He 'sits', 'stays', and gives both paws on demand now. I am working on training him to roll over....
Wow! REALLY growing!!!
he is so cute!
He is as mad as a box of frogs. Great company!!
Awww, Soodle! He is adorable :)
I have to get some sleep -- long day tomorrow!!!
{{everybody}}
*wraps arms tightly around NB when hes not looking*
bye Ruby, hope it all works out :)
Eva!! What good timing :) :)
Ruby. You take care. Talk to you tomorrow. ((())))
im heading out soon. gonna start my weekend a wee bit early. ;) but definitely needed a cuddle before i leave!
***Fireworks!*** SupahDupah!
Yay Mside!!!
Anyone want any clues before I call it a day?
Ahhh, I used to know what a weekend was ;) any plans for the weekend?
Thanks anyway, Mside, but I will slog on for the moment.
ti8 60 anyone?
a big cat + what you use to see, Smoove :)
chris has tickets for the Man City - Inter Milan game tomorrow -- they are playing over here! and he has seats right behind one of the goals, so he is super-stoked. we have a cake-tasting tonight, but other than that, i think its a mostly-relaxing weekend... hopefully will be able to get some planning stuff done.
hi there all! what's a curly con?
Seeing organ of a large striped animal, Smoove
SE7 has me stumped
I was looking for that....but going the other way. Thanks
GLC - it could be the letter lurking between R and T in the alphabet....
The side of a cliff... with the comparative ending. Plus that lurking letter in the front
ah thank you soodlebum
ti8/60: combination of the two words from the famous song from the movie "Rocky", but in the opposite order
that will be a fab game, Eva
oooh, how very manly of him ;) cake-tasting though!! sounds like heaven right now. I meant to go food shopping today but didn't find the time!
hello again everybody, back for my last 44
hi jac!
food is overrated. sounds like youre getting plenty of calories from alcohol. ;)
Nancy - You had no food in the flat last night! Did you eat anything today?
heya ata, NB, Nadine etal
cake tasting sounds fun, but not if you get a tiny one inch morsel
Sorry. I sound like exactly what I am. A Mammy!
anywho, im heading out take care all, and have a good weekend!
::huggles NB::
i was about to ask him if he ate today soodle
hello all - I am here temporarily tigertiger
tigers
oops sorry about that
Burning Bright, Kazzer?
LOL
in the forest of the grid
((Eva)) take care! And Soodle, I can last another day - done it before and can do it again ;)
NB! workig such long shifts you need to eat better!!!!
Soodle gritting teeth to stop berating Nancy. (But I WORRY about you....)
*stern mama look* YOU NEED FOOD. *stern mama look*
hello everyone *stern mama look at Nancy Boy*
how's the grid today?
Yay. Mama's and Mammys gang up on Nancy, and Command him to eat.....
not too bad mama, and hello how did the painting go?
hi, Stiddie :) and don't worry yourselves, babble mummies!
*puts bowl of miso soup with chunks of tofu and vegies in front of Nancy Boy*
it's just because we care and we know how long your hours can be, it can be draining
it went okay. Will do more in a little bit when Mother arrives.
i got word about my procedure, i am top of the non essential list and will be seen as soon as my surgeon returns to work
Nancy Boy, when I was your age I didn't have enough money for food for several months. My landlady ended up feeding me.
ir
good jac. important to get things taken care of.
and now for the first time in my life i am worried about how my boobies will look afterwards, how they looked never bothered me before, scars and all it never affected me
Oh, I didn't know you were set to have any procedure, Jac...glad to hear you'll be getting it out of the way soon!
iric
but it took me months to actually recover my strength. PLEASE be sure you eat. Even if it means you get a little less sleep. it's important.
oh gee jac! they will be fine. I am sure WE will all admire them greatly! *wicked grin*
i agree with mama, and don;t forget what that will do to your bone density later in life NB
brb phone
Stid, I have the same problem, if I'm honest! I've been squeezed for rent on two flats this month, so I'm pretty much clinging on white-knuckled until payday. Things just need to even out a little, but I know what my body can take :)
lol mama
stupid cell phone company... *grumble*
Oh heck. Unexpected visitors. Gotta go - maybe see you all later. Hugs all round((()))) and Nancy - EAT
bye soodle
later soodles!
aren't there food pantries in britain? where people without money can go and get a little food?
we have a few places, salvation army etc but they are all for the homeless
Payday's in two days; it's all good!
gah. another phone brb
THEY hung up when I answered! LOL
can you get a discounted meal at work NB?
well... put some money aside this time, even 15 dollars (I think that's a few pounds) so you can build an emergency food "account"
NB asda still do savings stamps, maybe a couple every month will add up
I normally do have an emergency fund Stid, but last month I had an emergency :P
well rent is always an emergency
rent is an emergency, medical is also.
makeup is NOT an emergency... nor is beer (or whatever you folks drink over there)
LOL
*stern mama look* and FOOD is non-negotiable.
*whines* but I lost my favourite eyeliner! I think the cat stole it. And no beer...wine and spirits with mixers. Beer is for sissies, or people with no taste buds ;)
LOL, you are so going to get a telling off
*VERY firm mama look* NO WHINING. (and no wining until you have food in the pantry)
*stern look at cat* give the child his eyeliner back.
Well it was a white eyeliner and you put it juuust on the waterline, right on the inside, and it makes your eyes look wider.
NB i will have to visit so you can do my makeup, i always look like i was drunk when i put it on then i look like i lost a fight with a biro
*rolls eyes* you and your eyeliners! LOL you were talking about eyeliner the first time we met, you know...
I always think I would have loved to be a beautician or a make-up artist.
LOL Stid, really?? You remember that?! That was four years ago!
I know. and you were mucking out cow stalls I think...
it was quite a while ago, for sure.
the best thing about London is that there is nary a cow stall in sight.
yes, that WOULD be a good thing!
But I think I was probably spent more time taking the dogs for walks and playing with the chickens. I can't believe that - it feels like forever ago. Still being at school and everything - like someone else's life!
FINALLY NBT.
and the elder stidkid just got home from helping neighbors with a farm.
will be back later to chat and finish. Maybe. down to 68 atm
*hugs Nancy Boy* I wish I could help you with food money, kiddo. *concerned mama look*
be careful. and stay off the ankle as much as you can... *sigh*
see you-all later! *poof*
Oh don't worry about me, Stid :) I'll live! see you x

ty
no government assistance for training?
well Lbd, the thing is, grants etc are allocated on your parents' income - my family is rich but mean ;)
so, you probably have to prove that you are not part of their household and receive no monetary support from them, right?
yeah, but that's difficult to do without any actual emancipation documents. but, it'd break my heart to get those!
ye
ye 5 ?
and your family is against your choice of training...

Hi all, how are babblers today?

wb ardilla
ardilla! hi jacq
lbd! long time, no chat
work has been hectic
yeah, where the heck have you been hiding?
heya lbd
ahhh, work. it's over rated
moving again in about 6 weeks...to spain
new job has been kicking my butt
!!! wow!! no grass grows under your feet
how are things with you?
well, i'm not moving to spain. :( but otherwise life here is constant.
stopping in at the right time to say hi to ardilla! haven't seen you for a long time
hi JBV
is this a new job or a reassignment, ardilla?
i'm not moving to spain, either, but spend a lot of time there in my daydreams - where will you be ardilla? in Madrid?
moving again
Hi, JBV! How goes the family connections? :)
about a hour from seville
both, lbd
that's great, ardilla - and just checked your profile - good news about your godson -
seville. i think of victor/victoria with julie andrews and robert preston! lol
hi NB! Oh my god - the emails are flying back and forth, we're skyping, calling, it's amazing, now we are working on filling in the family tree, passing it back and forth and filling in the gaps
what i get to do always depends on where i go...haven't done the same job twice...i just hit 10 yrs in the military this june
I haven't been this excited about anything in a long time, feels good - and great timing, right? now that I'm retired I can really indulge in all this nostalgia with no guilt
that is an awesome movie!
Oh JBV, I'm so happy for you!! Wonderful timing, you're right :)
hayden turns two next month and is quite the handful for his dad
great, ardilla - sounds good
that's so wonderful, ardilla. I'm glad he's with daddy and not whacko mother unit.
JBV, how exciting and fun for you.
hopefully, i'll get to see him before i go to spain
yes, fate placed this grand project in my lap on the very day I retired - that's the day I got the first call from Italy
ardilla, come back more often, okay? especially before you head off to Spain! must go get dinner prep started.
oh! and I'm celebrating - today I received my first pension check!
this is the first time I've ever been paid for doing nothing
later gaters
that is so cool, JBV!
i will, lbd, things have finally starting to settle down and i can get back into my old routine
hagd lbd
bbs...going to the list
bye lbd
Congrats jbv
thanks, wht
ey
i guess i should say hey!
hi doren - lovely picture of Phoebe
Do you have any plans to meet up yet, JBV?
hi dorens
and wht
Hi Dorens
no, we're not talking about that yet, NB, but he has sent me pictures of their home - it's so beautiful, Pinerolo, near Torino
thanks j--having fun with the family project..that's terrific
wonderful, JBV :) well please me updated as things go on? I love hearing about it!
OK, NB - I love talking about it too, thanks!
hi ardillla and wht and NB
how are things NB?
ohhh...mixed bag really, Ardilla! Had a few hard months but things are slowly improving - I think :)
that's good that they are improving!
t
thanks! :) how about with you?
i just went through a medical eval board to see if i could stay in the military...nail-biting exp to say the least :)
trig
I'd say so, Ardilla! A good result, I hope?
it almost caused me to lose my assignment to spain
Thanks Dorens, but I already have that one.
But I think ardilla has put some sangria in the PB.
sorry. am using babble expert cause am rushing, and i have checked off no chat yet it seems not to be working.. gulping sangria gratefully!
Oh, you're heading to Spain?? How exciting!
finally yes as of last monday, after months of broken promises and deadlines...very scary to think that everything that I worked for for about a decade was about to be taking from me with no fault of my own
best of luck ardillla
yes plenty of sangria, moscato, and paella in the PB
the med board came back positively with return to duty with no restrictions; a restriction could have limited where i could move
so i was ecstatic when I was told that i could still move to spain...i screamed in the office when i read the email, scared my co-workers, though :)
awww, Ardilla! Well sorry you had to suffer through waiting for that to come through - time spent like that seems to last forever - but so glad it's worked out for you!
ty NB *hug
i hope things continue to improve for you :)
woohoo fireworksfor me
thank you :) I could do with some good wishes at the moment ;)
woot,woot Kazzer
WOOT kazzer!
i'm trying to keep my little brother encouraged; he had a falling out with our mom when he came out
wtg kazzer
oh dear, Ardilla, when did he come out? What was the falling out based on? :(
thank you all - off ow - motherin law here
i reminded him that i still loved him as well as did a lot of our family
It's what he'll need to hear, Ardilla :) like me, he's lucky to have such a lovely sister! She's the only member of my family who still speaks to me.
it's been a couple of years now and things are only slightly better, but he has made me so proud, living on his own and becoming so independent!
where is your sister, NB? in London, too?
he just moved into a larger place, and i'm still working on getting him on being a little more open
Oh no JBV, she is younger - still lives with my parents. When I got kicked out, she climbed out of my bedroom window and ran all the way down the street to say goodbye - I miss her to pieces - very complicated to keep in touch because my parents won't let her talk to me. Has to be done in secret.
oh, I see, tough spot for her too - she's in the middle
NB where abouts in london are you from ??
Oh yes, JBV. She is visiting the rest of my family in Korea at the moment, so she'll be biting her tongue a lot...
Soho, Sara. The dodgy end ;)
aahh its nir too bad :P
not*
hey all!
Good for him, Ardilla :) how old was he when he came out?
like when he told me that he had two roommates, one he is very close to; i asked if he was his boyfriend; he finally said yes; i told him not to act like he is ashamed and that i wasn't going to judge him and that i was happy that he found someone that makes him happy!
hi all! babbling from the train from NYC to DC :-)
Hi dan of the rails.
I believe it was after he left the military so about 19/20? my uncle gave me secondhand info from my mom, so i'm not sure how reliable that is
Ah, same age as me - I was about nineteen and a half. I don't think I even would have done it then, if my boyfriend hadn't asked me to move in with him!
he is still trying to open up; the pressure from our mom made him hide his true self then she kicked him and sent him to our aunt and uncle; they had no idea and were surprised when they found out why. they kinda support his decision but he couldn't be himself in their house; they're ministers
the secondhand info i got was that our mom caught him with his boyfriend and freaked out
oh man. if I'd been caught with a boyfriend I wouldn't be here to tell the tale..
Off to see about dinner. BBL for my last 11.
her reaction pushed me further away from her and her religion so she and i had a second falling out
wow, NB
cbs wht
we are her only kids from her body and she for the most part rejects us; i mean we talk and are cordial but some areas are not and will not be addressed
my family are intolerant to the extreme. as soon as I said what I had to say, my dad punched me in the face and told me not to come back - so I never have!
i had to go to therapy and i'm on antidepressants to kinda fix the damage she caused...i have PTSD now and she still doesn't believe me
Parents can be the most wonderful or most damaging things in your life, I think.
these stories are very sad and I don't understand how parents can "divorce" their children, I truly can't
i was raped at 16 by someone i knew, and she told me that she thought HE was innocent and I was being promiscious and wanted it because my reaction wasn't the same as he4...we still disagree
wow
it has taken years and a really good therapist for me to be able to say that without crying
I can only imagine, ardilla
her actions has alienate both of her kids...we still care about our mom and would never do anything to cause her deliberate pain, but we hold her out at arms' length so she can't hurt us
*have alienated
NB and ardilla, I wish you both the best - good things ahead, have patience and hope and things may yet turn around
I have to get going - but it was good to talk to you, ardilla - hope to see you here again
my brother and sister (9mos at the time) were the only ones who weren't angry or ashamed of me
i cherish them the most for always being there for me
thanks, JBV :) well the hard part is over for me! without my parents in my life, I can be happy.
{{{{{hugs}}}}} to you and your brothers and sisters who love you
tyvm JBV
Hello...
hello, Jellen! :)
i wish you great happiness, NB!
((NB))
hi jellen
Hi, ardilla!
thanks Ardilla, and the same to you! :)
how are you getting on, Jellen?

Back again.... to a very intense conversation. Not trying to be flippant, but, Nancy Boy - You lie. You have an Irish Mammy!!!!
Hanging on to my sanity, barely, lol...

i used to be on he4 a lot but my new job and other stuff got in the way
dan2, how are the puppies?
all the puppies and mom are in good homes
unless i'm mistaken
oh, good!
To me, the game is secondary. My main job is to make sure that Nancy Boy eats correctly.....
we may try to have a litter reunion in the Fall - we got a tad interrupted by baby2bit :-)
that's a wonderful job :)
baby?
LOL Soodle!
Maggie is very adorable!
yes we made a little girl (see my profile pic)
ch6, anyone?
hi all
hi tea and walnut
Ooh, if I had my way, Nancy Boy would be (Look away Jesse) eating bacon and cabbage three times a day, to fatten him up.
there are 2 ch6, walnut
Hi, TNC
sorry... the first one.
ah that's the one I don't have

teancrackers.blogspot.com is my blog, Jell, you can see the kids' art work ;)
Sorry NB, its an Irish Mammy thing. (I despise Bacon and cabbage)
I have absolutely no idea how to cook it or serve it, but its 'Cure What Ails Ya' here!!
Cabbage would be fine ;) the bacon not so much!! Ooh, I am very hungry though. Wine!
i'm back
Will check it out, TNC!
mmm...bacon! where's crossy?
*enjoying some fruit snacks and a glass of moscato
the first day of treatment - not bad, the second he felt better than he had in weeks and today - throwing up - poor guy. How's Tim?
Actually, I quite fancy some tea and crackers right now... how suseptible am I to the power of advertising???
LOL!!
glad I could be of help ;)
(PS, hey, you called me Jesse for once ;))
Soodlebum = The Adman's dream
Tim's only been sick once since Friday!
that's good!
Jellen, thats great news. Yay for Tim... :-)
How's Buster?
good to hear that, Jellen!
Oh, Jellen. Today, I was waxing elequently about what a great dog he is. Since then, he has chewed through the straps of my really good hand-bag, poohed in my en-suite and eaten half a bag of Doritos
Lol, that's my god-puppy!
Can I send you the bill for my hand-bag please.....?
Well, you could send it...
LOL! You two :P
Yeah, yeah yeah, I know. The cheque will be in the post..........

Don't be sorry, Jellen. A replacement will suffice.....
congrats dan2bit
Wayhay Dan!!!!
Yay for dan!!!
wahoo dan!
cant you picture Miz jumping off a pier or dock - arms wide - looking to the sky - yelling wahoooooooo
hee hee!
that was almost what I actually was doing, but no dock, just the beach
You had to enjoy the very rare nice day at the Oregon coast
my daughters friends have all friended me in FB - why I dont know - but just copied this from one friend that has a serious boyfriend - oh - young puppy love - scary stuff...
being in love.. It's having that one person who always makes you happy. When you're content just sitting wrapped in their arms. When you're never tired of being with them, And you miss them when you're not together. When there's moments when you just sit, Looking into each others eyes, And wish those moments could last forever. When the sight of them takes your breath away... this is just the start of my list

Hi Jellen, I'm doing well, and how are you?
Hello lbdawger! How are you?Welcome back to the log

hi Min! thank you for the friendly and warm welcome. I'm doing well, how about you?
I'm okay...didn't get everything done today I needed to, but the world will go on...
I am well. So glad the humidity finally went away here
so much is going on in your life right now, take small steps and take them as your successes
back.. @dawg: no smoke, have quite a lurking storm slowly making it's way up the valley, darkening
tyvm for clue minv
yw Jillyjill
the way the media is talking half of the valley should be in ashes!
hmmm, not even much smoke. The eastern fire is burning east (take THAT P-burg!) Just a few little fires they are watching.
i'm glad you aren't being effected, we can smell the smoke from the Bob, occassionally
Enjoyed my morning in Missoula yesterday and had a great salad bar at Jakers.
Well, same here, faint odor, but compared to 2000 nothing will ever compare!!
that's for sure! i really like smoke free summers
*fingers crossed*
three summers ago, Glacier was on fire and parts of the north fork. hard to breathe that summer
Yes, there have been several miserable summers as of late; I have really enjoyed this summer.
hey gang, how is everyone?

Hard to type with corn on the cob in your hands...lol
I'm well. Had a nice dinner. Chicken with pesto, corn on the cob, and fresh tomato.
I made lemon chicken dinner for tonight, but haven't eaten it yet. I get full after eating corn so I have to wait until later on to eat the main course of dinner.
we had pizza tonight. the boys and i were playing outside when doug brought it over, so daniel ran in, got a blanket, and decided we were having a picnic. it was nice!

fe6 looks like spelling of mythical character stidmama
thanks for the fe 6.
do you need more for the fe 8?
fe 6/33 is fe plus Sex in the C***, replace c with hook.
ty!
fe 6/33 is the singular of fe 8
nope, got the fe8.
DUH. thanks jellen! LOL
My kids would say that two of the fo5's refer to me.

Still cooking. Grilling broilers. We'll see. They'll be well done at least.
Lucky is plumb tuckered out, poor critter.
they should taste lovely.
are your kiddos giving you fits feather? I have had a couple days' respite from "attitude" myself.
daniel's on the mend. he had sideslipped in behavior for a while there, but is getting better. nick's doing the whole "i'm 3" thing.
Congratulations featherbee on fireworks! Good for U
ti6/21?
oh, that is challenging. (((hugs))) keep breathing, you'll all get through it.
past tense holly
past tense the "levels" word holly
ti 4/4 + past tense
ti6/21 is past tense of the ti 4/4 word before it Holly
ti 6,21. Past tense of the ti4,4 before it
Hello HollyF! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid!
i can handle the 3 year old stuff better than the 6 year old stuff, because in my mind i feel that daniel should know better.
however, i do know that nobody is perfect, and he's allowed to make mistakes as long as he's learning from them.
Thank you everybody!
true, he is allowed to make mistakes, but it doesn't really make it any easier or more fun for you. seems kids cycle through behaviors
ok, off to bed early. night everyone!
