we have a single, lovely day here. My love just left with Terra for a canoe trip, enjoying the last good day, probably :)
Yesterday I heard a very loud tapping and went through to the breakfast room, thinking it must be a woodpecker at least. We have a little veronica outside that window, and there were three fledgling tiny blue tits in it, and on the windowsill tapping it for insects. They were about 2 feet away from me. Lovely!

he can swim, but doesn't go into the water voluntarily. Just walks in up to his tummy.
nah! I love bats. Usually we have many little black ones circling the garden at dusk. They look like black butterflies. But this was a brown one and stayed for about a ten-minute visit while husband cowered under the pillow

my grandfather did the same (he was very keen on learning new stuff). He learned to use Word and email program and enjoyed it very much.

Sprite yes but these are guard dogs and they need all the attention and drive they can
he's home now, but can only be walked at certain hours, must be locked up in a kennel at home, must have a muzzle and a short leash -- but who is going to enforce all of that? We have 3 police for this whole village!
rubyfoo, there is no knowing what the poor dog has been through. But after what has happened to your husband, the animal must either be put down, or (not likely where you live) been tested and rehabilitated at an animal care center.
(talking about the beauceron, not husband -- hahah)
the owner is "required" to take classes with him, but I think an 8 or 9 yr old dog is too old to be trained.
Is there a caveat, though ruby? Dog must be muzzled etc but IF this doesn't happen, then he can be taken back into care?
they are never too old to be trained, but not every bad thing can be trained away.

No, the Robert Downey Jr one is a film. We belong to a film hire club called LoveFilm, and recently requested the film but got an absolutely dire version by mistake. Saw a lot of complaints from people who had made same mistake. There is a film with Jude Law as Watson and Robert Downey as Holmes, but I reluctant to rent it now.

Some years ago when I had an MRI, I had to keep absolutely still for about 20-30 minutes. Of course, as soon as someone says that you want to scratch your nose! And I went through every nursery rhyme I knew, then the alphabet backwards.

Just been listening to Morning Has Broken, one of my favourite hymns. Had that at my wedding and want it at my funeral. 'Amazing Grace' was the other hymn sung. I wanted 'All Things Bright & Beautiful', too. However, I stuck to the two that had been in the 70s charts, hoping the congregation as well as the small crowd of choirboys would also sing along.
