Fortunately we went out to eat for Thanksgiving, so the leftovers are limited.
Alton Brown, after his usual Thanksgiving program about how to prepare a turkey, confessed that what his family eats on T-Day is cornish game hens, boned and coked in a panini press. Looks sort of like road kill, but takes no time, prep, andprobably tastes good. I'm thinking of something like that for next year.

Yes, it is fantastic, but a lot of work. I do the dinner as a partial potluck - but still doing the turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing (out of the bird of course!), cranberries, cleaning, etc is exhausting. The guests brought lots of wine, stuffed mushrooms, bread, apple pie, szechuan green beans, spinach in puff pastry, biscotti, escarole salad. OY!

in regards to "no clueing the first hour" there are some who take that seriously, it all depends who is on at the flip. for awhile it was pretty much a given rule but i think more people eased up on it.

People seem to have various levels of investment in the Babble community- for some it really is a community, and others an amusement.

for me, the neti pot is more effective than antihistamines
application of menthol works quite well...
I use both dc. I take an antihistimine every day and use a netti pot [or a squeeze bottle] when really needed. I have discovered a prescription nasal spray, Patanase, which works very well.

My 86 y.o. Mom forgets to tke her meds. She lives in assisted living. I want to pay the nurse to be in charge of her meds, but she doesn't want to py the money [which she has an ample supply of]. I just up and took the meds away and gave them to the nurse. My mother's thyroid function was really low from lack of the meds, she was sleeping all the time
at least I can monitor his meds but stopping him from driving will be a terrible blow for him

Hi ruby, just come on briefly (hopefully to finish before I sit by the fire!). I have one suggestion on the driving. No-one likes to feel they are giving something up "for good". Would it be possible to suggest to him that his claim for damages (or whatever the case is) will be stronger if he says he can't drive at the moment? Then you can say to him that afterwards, he will be able to drive again.

that is sounding very close to home, scrabbler. Hubby had surgery for detached retina on Oct. 7 and then before it was completely healed, a macular hole "happened".... had surgery for that last Friday
and I know the hole had to do with the vitreous membrane. I wish you luck with yours !!
His problems are worse than mine. Is the prognosis good for him? My retina specialist is pleased with my progress.
