evening Ruby...LOL
hello grannie; you're evening, I'm morning and all the rest have gone to sleep!
seems like it.
the snow is mostly gone, but the melt wound up in the hallway, down from the leaky garage. Alas, at least it's not snowing and it's not so cold
seen snow, but have never lived with it, must be hard
hi {{ruby}}, diz! :o)
it was crazy, more than 3 ft, the most since '57 they say
it's beautiful, but gets old fast!
{{dfm}}
Dtr in Tasmania has had 4 inches of rain since yesterday morning, thought we were bad here, have had on and off rain everyday since the beginning of summer
Come to sunny southern California -- the icecream man has been 'round at 10.30pm for the past four days.
it must be really green in Australia, solving the longterm drought?
ride
doh
Good morning :)
Hi all --- I'm back here briefly. Talking of snow, I hear they've had about 5 ft of it in Toronto and London Ontario. None here now, though, but lots of rain, which might travel east and become more snow...
nah Ruby, too much of my state (NSW) is under water....farmers have been flooded out and lost heaps of their crops
that must be "lae effect" snow, like in Buffalo!
We need some of that rain -- send it over to us.
Hello Tropiske -- don't think we've met before :-)
*lake*
hello tropiske, hapy to meet you
'cybering rain over to Christine'...lol
probably not, I dont play babble much :)
Thank you-thank you for the rain. We've had some in the paast two weeks, rained all day, all night at one time, but it's not enough to make-up for the years of drought. And the 'fire season' starts earlier each year.
Hello, Tropiske, welcome.
Well, play some more, Tropiske!
Christine, where abouts are you/ (state)
diz, it's in her profile ;-)
I promise to try to play more :) see you all, I have to go watch the make sure the schools snowballfight isn't too wild. Have a good day.
first 50 words are easy -- then?
Bye Tropiske!
and didn't get the 8 :(
First 50 words are easy, then you start falling asleep ;o)
I'm in Los Angeles.
would you like a cup of expresso, dfm?
this grid is full of phantoms
pr+v=ad5
Byebye Tropiske
um, not getting that, diz

ah, that's better, diz -- thx -- *hunting
N's negotiated

RIP John Lennon, great person and musician.
what a sad beginning to his life, eh diz? Did you read the writeup in my profile?
Thanks to that clue, now have the ad5, pr8 and re8
I lived in Manhattan the night John Lennon was killed and stayed on the phone all night with my same-age cousin, listening to his music (she was in California!)
wtg Christine!
I don't have any of those words -- duh this AM!
BTW hello Christine and Jillibus
this morning is a bit of a fog!
If I had the ad5 I'd get the others, I guess
Hi ruby :-)
I keep seeing adroit, but I'm not....
oops, the re is a 7.
well. here it's after midnight so I'm foggy too
at least you have an excuse!
ad5/14 - what ou do at a pet shelter (cute puppy or kitten)
Ah -- just found them!
snap, I just got it. ty Christine
(I found them before Christine's help, lol)
yay, got the 8!
wd ruby :-)
and even found the zo4 babblet!
I can't see a single ar word :-(
but I'm over halfway so I'll head for bed -- goodnight or day, all.....*poof*
Jilli, thanx for the write up on John Lennon, knew some of it but not about his father....tis strange what one finds out about people.
yw, diz
ar4 and plural, your section of the country
nbt!
Morning all how many words today please
165 and good morning sandra
Thanks
one more for half and then I can get dressed!
see you later! *poof*
Hi everyone!
good morning all
Hi sprite!
hey Brookie :) How is it going?
Morning gals!
hi Soodle :)
Okay, just trying to keep my chin up. And hi, soodle!
Oh, Brookie! You still feeling blue?
which babbler was it, who always said: Keep your chins up!" Was it GroovyKiwi?
((((Brookie))))
A little bit. Still just trying to make sense of what happened for closure purposes.
Thanks, sprite!
Lol. Sprite. (I have more Chins than a Chinese telephone directory!!).
me too, lol
Time will heal. I just trusted someone completely, and that trust was destroyed. I'm feeling more skeptical, and I normally not that way.
Have you spoke to him since Sunday, Brookie?
We were supposed to speak last night, but the scheduling didn't work out. He did agree to speak with me. I totally do NOT want to get back together with him, but I just want to understand what happened. Part of closure is learning from an experience, and I'm still trying to figure out what to learn from this.
you are wise, Brookie. Yes, time will heal. And if you let it, it will even heal the skepsis and lack of trust you feel now. Because in the end, you want to be loyal to yourself and not to the hurt one person caused you. *big warm hug* for you and loads of strength and light.
I hear you Brookie - and I second everything Spritey said. But closure is a very important of recovery....
That's true. It's like they say, "Love like you've never been hurt."
yes, if you can get him to speak up, it might help. But if you can't, try and realise sometimes it isn't at all about you. He may have issues that caused this, and there is nothing you did wrong except being you - his loss, not yours.
How did your chat with TheLegend go? Last time I saw you on here, the pair of you were kicking up a storm?
We've been exchanging numerous emails. He seems like a nice guy, and very smart. We'll see how it goes. :-)
Thanks for asking.
:D Good for you!
So, how's everything in sprite's world? Soodle's world?
You two seemed to be hitting it off. Play it by ear, Brookie, if nothing else, it will be a diversion!
I could use a lot more money, energy and health, but I am still feeling blessed with all that IS in my world.
Good advice.
As far as money is concerned, ask soodle. She's been collecting lots of cash from fellow babblers.
And yes, you do have to count your blessings (and note to self on this one!)
I donated it all to charity!!!!
grin, how did you do that?
*giggles* I know, I know, just kidding. I need to find out how to become a charity!
Argghhh!!! You should have saved it for the "Babbler-in-Need" fund!!!!
I began charging fellow babblers for clues, Sprite. They were all sending cheques to "Soodlebum, Ireland". I made a fortune!
see, you smart Soodle you!
At present, I am sitting in the East Wing, waiting for the butler to bang the gong to tell me breakfast is ready.
I am this very intelligent woman, with no sense at ALL when it comes to making money from my talents. Not kidding now. I have the business sense of a worm.
Plus, soodle charged for making intros between me and TheLegend, and she charged for promoting my speech video. She'll take any opportunity she can.
Can totally relate to you, sprite.
Not that I am preoccupied with money, or anything.....
Soodle, you need to start giving classes. For free! For fellow babblers, anyway :)
Well, that's because it's second-nature to you now. :-)
isn't it a shame, Brookie?
Good morning all. Someone handing out money? Puts hand out nonchalantly.
hiya Sally :) Well, it is kind of the other way around... we want to collect!
LOL. I have been holed up at home since this day last week. My car is under 4 feet of snow, and the temperature this morning was minus 14! I will propably get sacked from my job!
It is a shame, sprite. And hello, sally!
Should have read the chog properly then.
Hey Sally :-)
Did the snow end yet, soodle?
they would be crazy to let you go, Soodle.
It has stopped snowing, and the weather forecasters are predicting a thaw.......I don't see any yet.
You can't be the only one who can't get in, soodle.
(((Sprite))). I may have to ask you for a reference....
Hopefully it'll thaw slowly so there isn't flooding.
any time, Soodle.
I liked the succinct forecast this morning: cold.
it is cold here too, but not as cold as at Soodle's.
It's around 0 C here.
Stupid enable. Saddo isn't allowed.
Our government announced the Budget yesterday. It made a refreshing (if disheartening) change to have something other than the weather on the news.
a few degrees under zero here.
lol Soodle :)
Gotta go now and get ready for work. Try to keep warm, everyone!
and android is a phantom, for crying out loud!
Bye brookie.
Bye sally!
bye Brookie, all the best, and lots of blessings on your path!
Bye sprite, and thanks!
Bye Brookie. Keep smiling :-)
Bye soodle! (poof!)
oh I have a bit of good news! Wanna hear?
Hurray for good news!!! Spill the beans, Sprite....
Yes please sprite.
one of the ugly things my mother did, was giving 'the' piano to my sister, while I was the one who played and my sister never had a single lesson. But now my sister and I are SO back together and enjoying it... and she told me she doesn't have room for the piano, and would I like to have it! Welllll YESSSS! Please! Including the piano bench our grandfather made himself.
my love is thinking up a new way to arrange our furniture so it will fit. And my kids and I are looking forward to playing!
How lovely, Sprite. What a sisterly gesture. I'm very happy for you.
Oh that's lovely sprite! And lovely that your sister and you are back together too. {{hugs}}
we found out that about 95% of our incompatibility stemmed from the things our parents did to keep us apart. We are closer now than ever and feel it makes our lives so much richer :)
Sprite, don't say if you don't want to, but why on earth did your parents want to keep you apart? Fully understand if it's private.
Oh Sprite. Why in the world would your parents try to split up two sisters? That is dreadful.
we are back together for more than a year now, and we are very dedicated to never being torn apart again.
divide and rule, galls, that is all. If you can convince one sister that the other is the bad one, you can count on her support... until the sisters finally get together and talk it out.
Are your parents still alive?
Are your parents both still alive sprite?
Snap soodle.
my parents had an ugly divorce and kept battling over our heads for at least 20 more years. My mother is bipolar, my father has narcissistic personality syndrome. It is quite a mess.... and yes, they are both alive.
Oh wow. Theres a lot going on there, Sprite.
Once again, I thank God I was blessed with wonderful parents, and the best siblings in the world. But I bitterly regret saddling my kids with that waste of space I married, as a father.
yeah. But I try to keep my distance now. All I do with my mother is trying to enable the grandchild/grandmother contact between her and my kids. And with my father, I decided to cut off all contact after AMPLE attempts and deliberation.
brb
well, Soodle, I can imagine the feeling, but on the other hand, those beautiful children of yours wouldn't have been there without him. At least he left you something very good :)
hurry back, Sally
I think it is very generous of you to allow your mother to have contact with your children, Sprite. And yes, you are right about me not having the kids without 'yer man', but I often worry about the long-term effect on the kids.
they have you, Soodle. As someone who 'has been there', I can assure you that children are incredibly resilient. If they have one parent they can rely upon, one that values their feelings and opinions and gives them love and boundaries, they will be ok. Not unchanged, but ok.
Back. Yes soodle, I too married a waste of space, and my sadness is that his relations with my son are even worse than they once were. However, son is old enough to make his own decisions, but it must be hard for him to realise quite what his father is.
wb Sally. Yes, that must be hard for him. It will hurt. But knowing he is truly loved by you will help a lot.
Of course, you are absolutely right. Its just that the story of my childhood could have been written by Meave Binchy.... and it troubles me that my kids were put through a very difficult time. How old is your son now, Sally?
Just chiming in to say good morning to all and that I'm proud to be a woman.
hiya Molly, good morning and YAY to that.
Hey (((Moll)))
I initiated them getting back together, at son's request, and as I said things are now much worse because he isn't a little kid to be pushed around and to accept his parents as they are any more. The trouble is, I think he always had hope that one day the relationship would be good, and now he know that won't happen.
Soodle, there is a lot of learning and ripening to be found in very difficult times. Going through them with your support won't make it easy, but it will make it doable.
how painful, Sally. It is always hard to learn to say: yes, this man is my father, and no, he is not a nice person.
Got it in one sprite.
*hugs to Soodle, Sally and Molly* There is power in love :)
I confess to having an utter horror of my ex waltzing back into my kids' lives, and them forgiving him. I think that would kill me.
Hugs back to you Sprite. There is power in love. And light.
And I am overjoyed that I have a wonderful relationship with son and a fantastic little grandson whom son adores and has a terrific relationship with. Brings tears to my eyes sometimes. Good to know that in that respect he is NOT like his father!
it would be great for them if they could forgive him, Soodle. Forgiving isn't saying 'you were right', it is just freeing yourself of the ongoing damage of hating someone. But for waltzing back into their lives... no, I hope they won't let him.
awwww Sally, that is so beautiful.
"Freeing yourself of the ongoing damage of hating someone"...that is spot on Sprite. And true. It's very freeing to let that stuff go. It's so heavy to carry around.
Now THAT is very heartening to hear, Sally.
it is, Molly. I am finally learning to let go of the anger and hate towards my father. Knowing he suffers from narcissistic personality disorder helped, I can understand him better now. I can forgive him. And I also know that I have to keep him away from me and mine, because he causes intense damage wherever he goes.
Its 3 and a half years since Mr Soodle ran away. Neither me or the kids have seen him since then. We get the odd drunk telephone call, with him ranting and raving down the phone, blaming us for all his woes. Its very difficult to let go.....
Could you change your phone number soodle? And in my experience, kids will work things out for themselves about people as they get older, you don't need to worry about that.
that is so awful, Soodle. Someone who is addicted to alcohol isn't the person you knew, but an addict. The blame game sounds familiar :( Can't you change your phone number?
snap, Sally :)
:-)
OMG. I just google Narcissist Personality Disorder. It's Mr Soodle!
Just a moment :-)
omg really? Feel free to email me, if you feel like you want to, Soodle... I am almost an expert now, lol. It is the disorder that is hardest to treat.
Thank you Sprite, but as I say, he is gone now, and not (hopefully) coming back. Himself and his NPD are somebody else's problem now!
very good! Especially if you already know that you were in no way to blame.
This seems familiar: The serial bully displays behaviour congruent with many of the diagnostic criteria for Narcissistic Personality Disorder. Characterised by a pervasive pattern of grandiosity and self-importance, need for admiration, and lack of empathy, people with narcissistic personality disorder overestimate their abilities and inflate their accomplishments, often appearing boastful and pretentious, whilst correspondingly underestimating and devaluing the achievements and accomplishments of others.
Helo everyone. Sprite - it is soooo good to see you and you seem in very good spirits so that is even better
Hi lynxxx! Welcome to the Babble psychiatry clinic.
I know it's been said before, but Babble is really a remarkable place. Counselling, Friendship, Support and a great laugh. What more could anybody ask for?
hi lyn :) Lovely to see you too, and yes, I feel blessed with my babble friends and happy to share some valuable experiences together.
it is important to realise that inside someone with NPD hides a very scared and lonely person. Everything that is so hurtful about them is part of the persona, of the mask. And you cannot get to it.
Lynn - Hi and Bye. Sprite, Sally and Molly, thank you all for your words of wisdom. You are all terrific people! Poof
*hugs Soodle* Have a good one, de4 friend :)
bye for now soodle!
bye Soodle
how are you today, lyn?
Slow grid for me today. Only just got to half way.
same here, Sally. 88 found, 77 to go (pretty figures) and feeling like there can't be more than 20 words left.
tired, happy, and enjoying the grid for a bit before I crash into bed
sounds like a lovely state to be in just before bed, lyn :)
Lovely theme choice Sprite...hard to believe it is 30 years!
Hugs to all dealing with alcoholism and/or personality disorders. I have dealt with them both, in people I have cared for and it is very, very difficult.
amazing, isn't it. He was one special guy. It really saddens me that special people are so often killed :(
am sorry you had to deal with them, Molly. It is very difficult. But I think you came out a winner. You sound balanced and full of light :)
I believe that everything that crosses one's path, crosses it for a reason. You can either choose to learn from it, or be bitter about it. I choose to learn.
I couldn't agree more. Though I have had my periods of bitterness, but they don't help. Letting go, learning and investing in one's own life are a much better way to go ;)
I agree with you there Molly. My father used to say that no experience or knowledge is ever wasted.
oh wait, where do I have them... Rules for being human. Hang on.
Burning up with bitterness or hatred or whatever only burns yourself up.
RULES FOR BEING HUMAN 1. You will receive a body. You may like it or hate it, but it will be yours for the entire period of time around. 2. You will learn lessons. You are enrolled in a full time informal school called life. Each day in this school you will have the opportunity to learn lessons. You may like the lessons or think them irrelevant and stupid. 3. There are no mistakes, only lessons. Growth is a process of trial and error experimentation. The "failed" experiments are as much part of the process as the experiment that ultimately "works". 4. A lesson is repeated until learned. A lesson will be presented to you in various forms until you have learned it, you can then go on to the next lesson. 5. Learning lessons does not end. There is no part of life that does not contain its lessons. If you are alive, there are lessons to be learned. 6. "There" is no better than "here". When your "there" has become a "here", you will simply obtain another "there" that will again look better than "here". 7. Others are merely mirrors of you. You cannot love or hate something about another person unless it reflects to you something you love or hate about yourself. 8. What you make of life is up to you. You have all the tools and resources you need. What you do with them is up to you. The choice is yours. 9. Your answers lie inside you. The answers to life's questions lie inside you. All you need to do is look, listen and trust. 10. You will forget all this. Anonymus
here comes a long post, galls, but it is fun... and true :)
very true
Like it sprite! Copied and pasted so I don't lose it.
:) Glad to share it, it always brings a smile to my face.
11. You can remember this whenever you want.
lol gramma, very true
With the unbelievable grand total of 51 words I think I will head to bed...Goodnight everyone, have a good day all
sleep well, lyn, and dream even better :) *hug*
Sleep well lyn, see you soon.
Hi and bye lynxxx and greetings all.
hi FM :) Lovely to see you.
Hi FM.
spritey sprite! Morning FM
Morning Sally even :(
lol, thought you were talking to yourself there :-)
been buried in the grid and have gone crosseyed.
Yes, it's a twisty one.
I finally found the 8, it drove me bananas.
ground to a halt with 31 left so it seemed a a good time for a quick chat before I go and do some shopping.
hi all, how many words today please?
hi sami 165
165 sami
ty :)
yw and good luck
so many phantoms today.
mine is android, FM
thats a good one :)
sprite, what does the 8 begin with?
Pr8, gramma
nori
oops!
ty
;)
pr8 huh, stares blankly at the grid, one tiny clue please which p does it come from.
middle bottom one, FM.
nm, found it!
thank you!
wtg :D be sure to enter the shorter forms as well, grin
I'm still struggling. Definition, anyone?
think of getting children into your life without pregnancies, gramma. Before and again prefixes will make the bigger ones.
I already had the r version, told you I had gone crosseyed.
I don't see Imaculate Conception. I'll look
Oh, ty sprite! Wasn't actively looking for that, but already had the short form, so Robert is the brother of your mother <g>.
I know the feeling, FM! gramma: for example if you cannot have children of your own, in spite of trying...
lol Sally.
spriter, I'm sorry I was being silly. I got it ty
lol :D
or sprite*
wtg gramma :)
Must just go and put some logs on the fire. BRB
I'd love to sit by a fire and re4 a book!
fireflies... another interesting grid, lol. Not easy, once you are halfway. Or that is how it was for me, anyway.
Congrats spritey!
anything I may help with before I go?
I am going to save my missing words for later as I do need to go to the post office and get some shopping done but am happy to procrastinate for a little longer as is is cold out there.
procrastinating is one of life's little treasures
*grin*
*hugs* to you all and have fun, and light, and loads of love :)
You have a great day too spritey.
Back in time to say, bye Sprite!
and I am just about to head out Sally so will say TTFN.
Keep warm FM.
you too :)
hello again, half this \AM
Hi ruby, be back in a sec.
Flop! Hi ruby!
flop??
Been rushing around :-)
where do you get the energy?
all I want to do is lie on the couch and read (or sleep)
It's probably something to do with my chocolate intake :-)
ahah! I'll have to try that
Da** I ask how things are today?
it is warm so snow is gone.
much of the melt wound up in the house, but easily cleaned dup yesterday
Still below freezing here :-(
it's around 50F here and sunny
it was a brutal few days
but still no satellite, so TV is limited to French stations
Why no satellite? Has the snow damaged the dish or whatever you have?
it seems to be a systemic problem as I get a recording when I call. Very annoying, though
first, they said it was because of the weather,; now they just put you on hold.....
Do you have a laptop? Could you sit by the fire and watch on that?
no, haven't one but I don't really care. Plenty to read in bed or on couch
my computer is a big old clunker and lives in my studio
it's husband who is complaining
Does he not like to re**?
he re**s for hours every day but his eyes get too tired to re** at night, too
Audiobooks are good for that, I love to listen to them and to drama on train journeys. I use my ipod, but anything would do. Can you get UK radio?
I've tried to get him to use audio books as he has gotten older. They really saved my mother's life when her vision failed, made her last years much more pleasant
in the US they have a wonderful free system, supply you with a player and free postage on books
What about films ruby? Can you watch DVDs?
maybe, if we can figure out how to use the magnetoscope. Neither of us is computer-adept :(
and now, it's re**ing time for me. {{sally}}
bye for now {{ruby}}
NBT- I am going to have breakfast and take care of the remains of my cold. No work-nap.
Hi and bye Kaplan
May I please have a clue for the last ar 5/10?
(*)
A hanging tapestry car.
Got it! TY!
:-)
mornin babblers!
Fireworks for me, so must go and sort out some lunch. Do you need any other clues?
Yeah Sally!
I need 42 more clues...but go and enjoy your day!
Top o'the mornin' Eva. Yay for Sally.
Good morning Eva!
One of my last, if it's any help, was a to 5/22, a semi-precious stone.
thanks, Sally - and hello - who's here?
Yes! TY Sally!
hi car, hi Molly
and hi Eva!
Morning JBV!
Bye :-)
hi (JBV)
JBV....is that a letter to you or from you?
another cold one for us today, molly. any hopes of a moderate warm-up in our future??
that's the letter I received this summer from my aunt in Sicily - haven't had one from her since 1980!
Very cool!
I think the theme for today is John Lennon, but I think I'll keep my letter for a while -
40's over the weekend Eva. That's warm compared to this.
i can't believe there are 8 s's from the top left - I have 2
I know JBV, that perplexes me.
the whole grid seems mostly impossible
LOL! I only have 1 JBV!
I have sa 4/5 - one looks like a popular singer from a few years back and the other one is the same except for the last letter
Now I have those 2 as well!!! I only had the singer!
hello, sa 6/18 is another one
oh! sa 6/18 - it means tailor in Spanish - have no idea how to clue it
hi Annie!
Here's my contribution - sa4/5 - on its way to being a fish.
Hi JBV, good to see you
Hi Haz
there is also sa7 - a depressed metal.
shad? hmm.....
great clue...dac
All of sudden there is way too much noise here! ARRRGH!
Ah yes, Dachef, the household implement neglected by so many...
PHone
I am not getting any of these clues!
40s over the weekend, you say? i may have to schedule a trip to the downtown holiday market then!
Ah...sa + **** Spelling
thanks, Molly
sa4/5 - the fish that often ends up squashed in a tin.
TY!
oh, ok, got it
one more to go
Oh, okay, only part of that tinned fish.
Yes, that's why I said 'on its way to being'...
Have fun at the market Eva. I have to go to West By God Virginia.
I know Haz, I need more coffee.
morning, morning morning everyone
Hiya Mom
((molly)) hello
ahh, the land that made it legal to eat roadkill. you enjoy that, molly. :)
Hello, hello, hello, Mom.
Morning/afternoon all!
Hi Haz
Hello, FM!
Hi FMitch
Morning x 3 , ((Mom))
gearing myself up to do some Christmas shopping!!!!!
It's a duty Eva. Boy's birthday is Monday and boy's grandparents live in WVA.
and good afternoon to you, FM
((Annie)) good morning
Hello Haz and Annie and Molly and Mom and EvaN and anyone else that come in.
I'm feeling virtuous because I've actually done some Christmas shopping today. It's the tip of the iceberg, mind you.
Have a safe trip Molly
*Passing around hot tea, coffee and buttered croissants*
my coworker is from WVa. we never miss an opportunity to poke fun at him for it...
I promised myself I would be off at 8:30
I thought about doing some but managed to overcome the feeling.
glad I got to see you, Annie.
good morning!
Oh thank you, Molly
Hi AsGreen
and so I am gone, bye dear babblers, be back later
I did 90% of my Christmas shopping on line this year. I love shopping like that.
I'm even more virtuous because it's pretty cold. -10 C during the day.
I'm just waiting for my canelloni to cool down enough for me to tuck in.
-10 Haz, oh my!
it is currently 9 F out with a high of 21
off to research canelloni, brb
we are at a glorious +2.5
I know! Apparently it was down to -16 through the night. All I know is that my floor mats were frozen in the car.
They are kind of like lasagna pockets Mom.
ah, what are you putting in them FMitch
good grief.
oh geez Haz, that is cold
i LOVE doing my christmas shopping online. i havent even started shopping yet this year, as i have no ideas what to get people...its getting me a little flustered. and its getting late if i want to do any shopping online without incurring the wrath of the shipping gods!
got the last S - it's the canned half-fish + chemical symbol for an inert gas
sa 6/21
you can stuff them with spinach or in this case ground beef with tomato garlic onion etc and a white sauce with parmesan cheese on the top.
It really is much colder than we're used to and with a bit more snow last night to keep things interesting.
I bought a book to send to Italy and am just now finding out about the outrageous shipping prices -
That sa6 is twisty!
JBV, international shipping prices are ghastly.
How are Mr Haz and the the rest of the vets coping?
If I mail today or tomorrow I can use US Postal Service but after that I will need UPS or FED EX and they are exorbitant
I must admit, I choose my overseas presents with more than one eye on the weight.
I had no idea
the ground beef one sounds delicious
I would have bought a smaller book :)
Mr Haz is managing - but only with great care.
They do sound yummy FM
He came down a hill and found himself unexpectedly facing back up the hill again.
Oh no Haz! Is he okay?
oh dear Haz, he isn't hurt is he?
[not thinking about cannelloni, not thinking about cannelloni... ]
HI ((JBV))
*Making garlic bread and salad to go with the cannelloni*
hi Mom
No, he's fine, just quite surprised at how bad the roads are. He has winter tyres on but there's only so much they can do.
Haz that happened to me once and it scared the life out of me. I'm not much for driving in snow.
mmmm good thinking Molly
Drivbing in snow is copable with but if there is ice that is a whole different story.
Thankfully there were no other cars around and a kerb stopped him going into the hedge. The problem is that he really needs to be out and about so he just has to be as careful as possible.
Any lambing due soon?
**sends a guardian angel to look after Mr. Haz**
Suffolks will be due to lamb around Christmas, Dorsets have already had theirs and then the rest come in a flood until the end of April.
oops, sending myself to the PB for an earlier clue, just found in 5/10
<------ going to mollys house for dinner. i will take some garlic bread and salad, please!
How honest is JBV, none of us noticed.
LOL
now, you'll all go back and check the chat
7:29 for those who are not too honest
darn, I had that one.
and I go and join JBV in the PB.

to7 - combine a heavy weight with a fork prong.

Hope they help, Garfield.
its granfield
Sorry, you're right, don't know what put Garfield into my head!

You're welcome, Nono.

hi all
Hello, Boo.
hi Boo
good morning all - thanks Haz
Hello, wvt - no problem.

hi all :o)
Hello, dmf.
does anyone here have a good recipe for crock-pot meatballs?
po7 - start with the first letters of what garden fish swim in, end with a fork prong.
Ooo, yes Eva. This may sound weird, but it's easy and the meatballs turn out great. Put a pound of frozen meatballs in the crockpot and cover with one bottle of chili sauce and 1 small jar of (yes) grape jelly. Simmer in the crockpot for a few hours. They are really good.
thats exactly the kinda thing im looking for! having a holiday party and i want easy, no-work snacks. :)
Hi Molly and Eva
dmf too
When I do those meatballs, I put out the very small dinner rolls so people can make mini sandwiches.
i think im gonna put out toothpicks. husbands nana does that + i swear i could eat the whole pot!
po 7/32 clue please
scroll down, gran. haz just clued it a few minutes ago.
gran, if you scroll down, I clued it at 8.20
Sorry about that didn't check the clues given, but got it now and finished!
Well done!
not that i dont love drinking tea anyway, but i find it rather sad that i have to resort to making tea just to stay warm in the office...
Eva why is your office so cold?
It is sad Eva, It would seem that workers would be much more productive if they were comfortably warm
i readily admit that i find it much colder than everyone else does -- im just cold-blooded. but most of the women find it chilly in here. its always been a battle of men-vs-women. we have to call the building maintenance to get the temp changed, and whenever we ask them to turn it up, the men complain that its too hot + they call to have them turn it back down...
pretty much, whoever whines the loudest wins.
need new cookie recipes - what are some favorites?
wvt -- i dont have any on me right now, but i made some tasty cranberry-ginger bars and some pumpkin-oatmeal cookies...
I do ginger snaps with red and green gumdrops on them, wvteach. They go over well with most people
slices of the gumdrops or whole?
the small ones whole
just one in the center of each cookie
Martha Stewart's web site has some awesome holiday cookie recipes.
lol all school buses cancelled for the 3rd day running,my boy is estatic:/
wvteach, try this site: http://www.northpole.com/Kitchen/Cookb ook/cat0001.asp
lucky him, crossy! wish i didnt hafta come to work today!
howdy Mrs eva:)
thanks NoNo - it has hundreds of recipes - great site
hola, hello, howdy. :)
i have an "extra" day today. Usually go out all day Wednesday but it was cancelled because of our snow here - so now i'm going to bake cookies
even when you are retired it is so nice to have that extra day to get things like baking done
we are now over a meter and a half of snowfall since saturday night,,and 5 more inches coming today...wild
mmmm coooookies....
any chance of a clue for pr8?
im hoping to get my baking done this weekend...
good lord, crossy!!!
PR8 = in advance + make a child part of your family
me thinks i shall do a big batch of sugar cookies and gingerbread cookies
will you be able to dig out the sleigh and 8 reindeer for the Big Day??
lol une,i parked the sleigh saturday evening, managed to get out for 2 hours yesterday and will try to get out this aft
its 9, if you count Rudolph. ;)
thanks, eva -- had the RE but not the PRE version :-)
Thanks from Liverpool scouser for pr8.
may I say what a big Xmas doofus I am -- I can never see "Elf"" too many times -- love it love it love it
am i ever glad i gassed right up sat afternoon;)
What about Olive?
Olive?
Ms Oyl?
heh, i had the PRE, but not the RE!
LOL!
ahh oolive the other reindeer..know her well
yeah, what crossy said :o)
:-D
i started to watch Elf for the first time the other night. i have a great aversion to will ferrell -- not his humor, just him physically. hubs came downstairs and changed the channel -- he thought i may have been in a coma or something if that was on tv!
i just had to look that up -- never heard of Olive!
onlu christmas show i have watched so far is scrooged
Eva,it's soooo charming and heartwarming -- and I promise, It's not schmaltzy
me either, eva
EvaN, you know... Olive, the other reindeer, / Used to laugh and call him names...
don't care for Will Ferrell either and did not know about Olive
haha, dfm
my favorite christmas movie is The Year Without a Santa Claus -- i could sing about heat-miser and freeze-miser all day long!
and i watch several of the animated shows from the 70,s , all the ones with burl ives doing the narrations..i love those
but he's honestly truly really good in ELF!!!
does'not matter Une, will not watch it
im mr heat blister,im mr 101!
<-- has not watched any Christmas shows... >.> well, to be precise, he's barely watched any shows whatsoever...
we know, you are in a cave in nepal that they sealed up in 1859
lol
yay crossy!
Hello everybody :-)
but I have Internet!
howdy, soodle :-)
with interwebs however
lol
howdy soodles
hi Soodle
hi Soodle!
Olive the other reindeer reminds me of when my son was about 6. He was asked to identify all the characters in the Christmas crib. All went fine, til he pointed at one of the shepherds, and said 'Thats John Bergin'.
37 to go . . . back later *poof*
Who the heck is John Bergin, wondered the teacher, and Paul said.... Like in the song...(to the air of Silent night)...Round John Bergin, Mother & child....
attention everyone who is involved in the babble folding at home club! we are about to break 100,000 WU,S!! congratulations everyone.i will make arrangements to have a copy of that milestone certificate available to all those who wish one! yaaa for our team!!

hi all
hi jmc
hi jmc! :o)
howdy jmc! read what i just posted!
Hey JMC :-)
i saw crossy we be doing good
i was folding a 2000 bugger at the office yesterday
indeed;)))
Soodle, that's like the joke about the minister's son conducting a funeral for the family pet canary in the back yard, who said "In the name of the Father and of the Son and in the hole he goes."
wife gets a lot of 2000,with our big gaming ring, but this poky one i use just gets 250,s
rig
Lol Molly. Like a funeral for a goldfish in our house once...."Ashes to ashes, dusters to dusters...."
My brain is obviously not in Babble mode today :o(
love your jokes - how about one from real life? came home from school in 5th grade with the following in my notebook: "Gravity is a horse in the center of the earth." .... My mother figured it out.....
a force, of course
lol
hi JBV! :o)
LOL, JBV. My daughter used to recite 'Little Miss Muffet, sat on her tuffet, eating her curls away....'
and my little brother came home from Catholic school (this is back in the 60's) saying the nuns wanted him to buy the pill - .....
when i was a kid, i thought it was "War-War Two" -- i thought because it was the second one, they named it twice! (i never knew about WW1, as my grandfasther fought in WW2)
It was "The Tablet," the Catholic newspaper
that's a good one, Eva!
ROFL
hi Soodle and jBV
Hey Boo!
i personal thought there was an "abbreviation" for LMNOP in the alphabet: elemento p
hi Boo
jmc -- then you might enjoy the book "Ella Minnow Pea" ;)
I'm laughing here, thanks jmc
hi boo
never heard of that book evan
ive read it twice, its cute. it is a series of letters between a few characters who live on a fictitious island named after the guy who came up with the sentence that has every letter of the alphabet in it...
it was rough teaching my kid the alphabet because i still tend to think elemento p so i had to be careful
okay not getting nbt before work -- late leaving home as it is
one day, in the town square (where they have a statue to the guy that has the sentence on it) a letter fell off the statue. the government decided it was a sign from the gods that they werent supposed to use that letter anymore, so it was outlawed. one-by-one, letters start falling off the statue, and the letters written between the characters have to reflect that...
eventually, it becomes quite difficult to write (and read!) so they plan an uprising to get the letters reinstated. its a fun story!
seems to me i heard a story about a country where a letter was outlawed O maybe?
sounds cute evan and I like reading children's stories so i may go see if the library has it
okay i am off to save the world (thought I would think I would be done by now) *grumble grumble stupid world always needs saving*
*poof*
Happy Saving jmc
clue for the last do 6
do + late for school: ****y
???

crossy
do me a quick favour
google goodyear wrangler sr-a and cooper discoverer atr
which u like better?
sec
app...comparable in quality... ( so says my trusted mechanic)
both on sale
i have a 2003 ford escape
dark grey in colour...
( and hi all )
well i do not really have to look, cooper manuafacture performance tires mainly, and that is what they are good at,so if you have a porche,go for it.......blizzacks by goodyear definatly then
which u think best for our driving conditions?
they are s oft compund winter tire with lots of grip and sipes and are the best
( i looked at reviews... both seem good for tractions...
blizzacks
exceot cooper not good for mud ( like i go mudding all time)
they not on sale
the blizzacks
those the 2
well the mud is a long way away now..get the good winter tyre
the blizzacks not on sale... i can afford those 2
i do not compromise on tires, wrecking the car or getting hauled out of a ditch every week is more expensive
am leaning to the coopers
mmm
well do what you will
hi carlee! :o)
we have over a meter and a half of snow now..i do not screw with it
hi dfm
we have an inch
and rarely do we get more then 6 inches at a time
i have to travel 45 min each way to work
i can be anywhere in sarnia in 10 mins
then any old winter tire will do for an inch
get a softer compunds with lots of sipes though
its a one in 10 year storm we get more then 6 inches at a time
this one looks beefie and bad ass...angry with all the groves etc
up here we do not blink at 250 dollars a tire,it is that or buy a new car every year lol
and my wranglers lasted 3 years
these normal are 200-250..on sale for 1/2 price
( both of them )
well you have my thoighs, but if you just get a skim of snow, you have lots of leeway anyways
kk..hanks :)
thoughts
thanks :)
loys of sipes.....
lots
( whatever sipes are)
sipes are the cut grooves on a tire that give winter traction
the more per inch the better
until your tires collapse from having too many? ;o)
perferably a tire where they actually wrap around the sidewall
lol,dfm
lol,yea dfm, they make tires that collapse
Sipe Sipe Fine lines or grooves cut into the Tread of tires. They allow the tire to flex and give better Traction on wet surfaces. They may also reduce tire noise.
Hi babble friends!
hi BR, beach! :o)
ty br lol
send some to dfm lol
howdy beach
ok..tow truck here..byebye
tc carlee...sipes.....
bye carlee!

well then i'm not surprised. if you ever do get married or have a similar serious relationship with a female, you will find out.
hi Aloy. There's a sensitive discussion going on in here
clue for last ar 5/10
ty for the pa
yes, Boo.. (-:
dfm is 19?
ar5/10 is a curtain
T'was Boo that asked for the clue.
though useless for the mrs now...
i don't see how it's really that sensitive. it's just a medical test.
yes, and not negative one as it says on my profile, I just like to be silly on profiles.
((crossy))
i mean as a subject of discussion, that is.
hooray for silly!
i would have guessed older dfm
(9FM)
((FM))*
if you know your Shakespeare, from Hamlet, Polonius is stabbed while hiding behind the ar5. At least, I think it's Hamlet.
Silly is very good these days, we all need a bit of sillyness.
i always tend to assume people are around my age until i find out otherwise... THAT is also silly.
he was hiding behind the drapes i thought
ar + the teacher banged the chalk out of the e***ers
stage direction is "(behind the ar5)".
I presume everyone is younger than me now until proven different :)
you must be into theatre, then.
lol FM
no, we just studied Shakespeare a lot in high school... and I ended up memorising (or at least mostly-memorising) about 70% of each play
and yes you are right dfm Polonius is from Hamlet.
i have mental images of people from how they write/talk and some i assume are older and some younger and i am frequently wrong on babbleland people
well wait dfm are you babbling from school? *stern mama look stolen from stiddie*
no, babbling from co-op job... why?
..hums, "younger than springtime are you.. "
lol Aloy
oh that's okay then. . . I have no room to talk about babbling at work! *giggle*
that doesn't mean much, springtime is as old as the hills...
then you are younger than the hills!
Besides, most of my classes until last semester were my naptimes...
younger than the hills are you..
*checks birth certificate* yep i am younger than the hills
what happened last semester?

is it normal that with my dad having surgery on his aorta and subsequent issues with his lungs, i feel extremely conscious of my own lungs and stuff?
lol Molly I just had to google the words as I got stuck.
ah then you will appreciate that at my job interview i talked about topology
well FM, please share!
yes, hursh, it's human empathy.
that is very normal hursh
I am sure it is hurshy dear.
hope your Dad is doing well, hurshy
he's stable, in the ICU, will still be sedated and on ventilator for at least a few more days
sorry, correction: it's empathy. No need for the qualifier, pretty sure animals do that too.
healing thoughts go his way.......
waiting is hard hursh I will hold you in the Light
thanks

hello, Im back
Red, I like your new icon picture.
Hi Annie
hi red, Annie! :o)
hi Molly, dfm, red
The Devil wears it and it's in the grid. : P
Oops, no it's not. I'm seeing things again.
evening all - 81 left for me
Hi Kazz
Hi kazzer
Hello all. I took a break to do domestic chores, but thanks Molly. Hi Annie Kazzer and DFMFM...I am on holidays for a week.
Hi all...keep seeing phanton "adios"
Mine is doritos
Hi red, are you going to visit your parents over the holidays?
Hello Champ, how are things?
So far so good red, and you?
I will see my Parents, we are all going to my sisters.
I am good Champ, I have myHalf Marathon this weekend....lots of nerves.
Molly, I like your new icon as well.
Awesome!!! What's the forecast?
50's. and RAIN!
red, please wish them all a merry christmas. I remember you once mentioned bobby to your mom.
WELL...that'll be interesting! Although I never believe in rain till it's actually falling on me...not to worry!
My Mom is pretty great. As is my Dad...
tres cool icon, red!
We rarely get rain in winter, but this winter is a bit odd.
Will they go and watch you?
thanks Une!
good luck on your half marathons....my daughter runs half marathons up north
:-D
Oh no, my parents are at home in Pennsylvania. They will be called after the fact.
Hi Une
hey, annie :-)
I was not too excited about the race, but all of a sudden finally in the past 2 weeks, my pace has dropped and I have a PR chance...so I am getting very nervy. Lots of nightmares..
Oh. My mom likes to come to my races. Pretty awesome to have your 76 year old mom roadside cheering you on!
terrific, champ!
Annie I will say hello to them from you. I wonder, perhaps my sister and I could get a day ot take the train down to NYC....we could have tea! or coffee!
DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT!!! Try to just go and let the day bring what it will. You'll stress yourself crazy!
My Dad I think recalls his own glory days and wonders why I am not faster...
My last dream was that they changed the race to this very Hilly area where I live and that I was running in slow motion...
I have a brother who's one year younger and WAY faster. But no one holds it agains me.
red, that would be nice
Wait till you have the "I forgot my shoes" dream!
i have changed my icon to reflect the season
I will see if she would like to do such a thing. I tis only RI.
Oooh Kazzer, spooky, yet festive!
hey all! how's the grid today?
hey, stiddy! 28 to go and no list yet . . .
I'm finding a big slowdown 93 words in...
LOL Champ, I did get out of the car this summer and gave a guy my extra socks...
hi stid i am on 76 and no list which is good for me after recent performances
Runners are always the nicest!
stid, it's definitely a weird twisty critter
red, did you buy mittens?
Not yet Annie, it is supposed to be warm again on Friday, up to 70...
red, so then no mittens needed. very unusual weather for florida
hot tea, round 2 this morning it was a chai, this afternoon it is a honey-vanilla chamomile...
What about for the run?
It does get cold, as long as it goes away by Friday it will be fine...If it stays we are all going to turn into pale zombies.
If it is in the 50's I should be ok without mittens.
I was thinking it would start colder...
I think so. It was in the 30's at night down in Hallandale Beach. And very windy. Sounds like New York today.
I just looked at the 7 day forecast. currently ther are predicting...eeek 61 degrees and 99% humidity. at 7 am. Race at 6.
UGH!!! Start with the water now!!!
I wish you a good race red. I am going to put my groceries away. Bye for now.
I am hoping its not correct. that is so odd. for winter in Florida. We usually are at 50-60% humidity. But its still several days away right? they could adjust it.
Bye De** Annie!
Honey vanilla chamomile, very zen Eva.
It sounds like it could zonk one out nicely EvaN.
well I must dash, I have dominatedthe chat long enouhg. Going to go to the pool.
GOOD LUCK!!!
sorry eva but that sounds disgustig
my powdered creamer just went *POOF!* all over my desk... got my own personal winter wonderland...
oh no - very messy?
oh gee... sorry Eva!
and sorry all, said hello and disappeared!
all cleaned up, thankfully
Hi stid and hi all
hey jill
how are you? is it still raining up your way?
well NBT and almost 1/3 of the way... *sigh*
sorry -- phone -- yes, it's pouring off and on
sunny here at the moment, but this morning was very stormy
did you get the tv-fridge-tv fixed?
not quite 9
oops, still on the phone
*grin* I know how that works!
past halfway!
Ha ha...Eva's trying to tell everyone that white powder on her desk is creamer...ha ha : P
off the phone now -- the fridge is temporarily fixed, the TVs not fixed yet, except one came to life for a day and then konked out again. Sigh.
Good morning all. You reminded e to look at the weather report Stid - TY - even if it says severe storms and flood warnings all over the state
hey lynxxx
yuck, lynxxx, hope the weather improves!
I have to go now -- too much to do! Back later -- still 91/74 :-(
weird, how eletrical things work (or don't). at least the fridge will keep foods now
later jill
All appliances are in cohoots Jilli - My dryer, washing machine, stove top are all threatening to give up...my dishwasher already has!
bye Jilli
oh crud, lyn!
sorry to hear that lynxxx, so inconvenient to not have those!
Toodles, all...*poof for now*
At least all those things are relatively cheaper now than they were 10 years ago
yes, and a lot more efficient to run too, I think
i am slow working my way to fireworks - down to 37
hi Kazz - good going
go kazz go!
you have my sympathy Lyn - i hve blown up 4 dishwashers, 2 washing machines and the grill part of my oven doesnt work!
I trust not all on the same day!
well, down to 52. back later. *hugs and poof*
bye Stid
Hmmm...hugs but no choclits...: (
morning Molly
cya stid
Hi Lynxxx
no lyn - but i did do the dishwasher and washing machine at the same time
ouch!
hmm - yes hubby was not best pleased - i had to go to he landerette for several weeks before we could affoed a new one and gave up on the dishwasher
can anyone please give me a clue for the pr/8 the one i thought of is apparrently invalid
The washing machine is a bother, it piles up so quickly. Th dishwasher is a lluxury so I won't be replacing that in a hurry
pr8 to arrange to acquire a child ahead of time.
i know Lyn but the dishes tend to mount up as well - a result of only 2 of us and lots of stuff
gee - I finally passed halfway - very slow start for this one
it took me ages - i still have 36 to find
molly i`m sorry but cant see it
It is hard to see - quite twisty. It is 'before' start and what you do when you get a baby/child to keep and it is not your 'natural' one
lynxx/molly many thanks
i want ratdrop to be a word
hey again all -- thanks for the long word!
wb Stid
100, seems like a good place to take a break, BBL
later lynxxx

YAY peri!
that is not the first one, but thanks
how are you stiddy. I am fine but did not sleep well last night and I am tired
I am getting better peri -- what I thought was an allergy yesterday morning was a full-blown cold by evening, so taking it very easy today
sorry you didn't sleep well
sorry you are not feeling well.
I usually take a nap but repairmen were here today so I had to stay up
I'll be better tomorrow! *determined mama look* I have plans to help in a friend's classroom.
does anyone have the po 7 and hi peri
yes, can't leave repairmen unattended -- hope they were able to finish the job?
have not cooked in a while, just bought Mollie Katzen's book: The New Moosewood Cookbook.
it is taking a while, bathroom being redone. will be nice when it is finished
I have to go get the boys from school in an hour, so trying to stay awake. I'll go back into town later too, but can take a nap in between
that should be a good cookboo!
or cookbook
kazzer, try po*d (little lake) + fork point
want to get a vegan cookbook and also a raw foods cookbook. maybe Santa will bring them to me
bye for now
later peri
bye peri
oh -- there is a to 7 just like the po 7 I clued!
well, dog climbed on lap (and computer) so I think I am done for a while. Back later. *poof*
isn't raw foods cookbook an oxymoron?
well, it's raw before you cook it... maybe it omits all the "cooking" steps?
do 6/24, first one
it's something one may add to silicon or germanium when making electronics
ty
does anyone have the IN7?
(and hello, all!)
in7 (usually spelled with "en") to beg
no, not me

Cos, the first ar 5/12 means to have a deep passion for.
Morning/afternoon/evening all! :-)
Hi ho Soodle.
well its not adore lol hmmm
Cos, directionally go down, up, down, up
My central heating broke down. (Current temperature minus 11). I phoned the plumber an hour ago. He has been, fixed the heating and is gone again. Bless him and his tools!!!
Oh bless poor, cold Soodle. Passing a blanket and a shot of Jamies.
Gratefully accepting the Jemmy, Moll, (never one to refuse), but we are nice and toasty again. I am sooo thankful to have an obliging plumber!
oh i see my problem im looking at ad and not ar like i need to be
A good plumber is a Godsend. If I had it to do over again, I would have become a plumber myself. Good money and job security for life.
Did you get the ar, Cos?
got it ty
Bonus plural with that one too Cos. Although I'm not sure I understand the grammar in that.
You're not joking there about the money, Molly. He charged me 100 euros - about $140.... but heck... we are warm again.
i have an embarrassing story
Spill Cos.
Oh Goody. I love embarrasing stories that don't involve me.....
saturday night i went out. took a cab.. got pretty drunk *they had a buy 1 get 5 drinks free" special for a few hours
Sounds promising..........
fast forward to sunday morning.. i cannot find my wallet anywhere. i searched the house all over... freaked out, cancelled my debit cards and ordered a new one
Continue.....
called the cab company they said to call on Tuesday since thats when they turn in lost and found. (the bar didnt have the wallet)......
cab called back.. nothing.
hello everyone - back for the last 50
so i do a one more search in my house. it was on my nightstand the whole time.
Nice one, Cos. (Soodle wondering if any bars here do a buy 1 get 5 free night....)
Hey Nan :-)
and i realized i didnt take my wallet with me,. i never do when i go out. just my id and debit
love Cos stories - always make me laugh.....love soodle humor too I just lurk and laugh, lurk and laugh
No more buy one get five free for you, young man. That is hilarious.
and now i cant buy anything... til my replacement card comes.. sometime this week
Oooh, the demon drink. Hi Lady!
Cos, apparently The Universe decided to put you on a spending hold.
Karma..... doncha just hate it!
and i need to do christmas shopping! lol
can't believe how cold it has been Soodle - I was complaining about 18 degrees with a wind chill factor of 10 we are having a warm front compared to you
To counter balance that, I have a touching story. I got a box in the mail from my sister today. I had already gotten her box with holiday gifts in it, so I thought perhaps she had forgotten to pack one.
Positively balmy where you are, compared to here, Lady. This cold spell has broken all weather records.
So, what was in it, Moll?
It was a lovely gift for me, because my sister was thinking about how hard this time of year must be for me, missing my husband. It's a beautiful white candle, inside of a piece of tree trunk. I am Pagan by nature and have a deep love of trees.
oh that sounds beautiful
Oh, how lovely. Molly. A combination of light and nature, and a wonderful sister. That must have made you very happy. :-)
She said that she said some prayers over it before she sent it, and that each time I light it, I should be reminded of the great love there is for me in this world. Did I mention that I stood in the right line for sisters before I jumped into this world?
Made all my eye makeup a soppy mess, that did. In a good way.
Thats wonderful Molly. And you deserve it. You are a great cheerer-upper for lots of Babblers (including myself).
Is this your first Christmas without Mr Molly?
<==liked cosd story
:-)
Yes it is Soodle. He passed in May. I took a picture of the candle. I'll post it here later. I need to go pick boy up from work.
hang in there molly
((((Mollyl)))) I look forward to seeing the picture.
My tablet just di4 :o( Or more precisely, it exploded. (hi all...)
Hey JMC.... How did your world-saving day go?
i personally got through the first christmas but nearly di4 of pain with the coming of the new year
anyone have a clue for the last do 6/24?
well it still needs saving soodle but i got some things done like repairing the telephone line so i could do credit card donations
it exploded dfm? that sounds unpleasant
well, to be more precise, the fan exploded... there are bits of fan all around the inside of it.
I found the first Christmas more difficult than the New Year. I sort of looked at the new year as a new beginning, blah blah. The empty seat at theChristmas dinner table was excrutiating.
yikes!
well, at least THAT explains why it has been overheating quite often recently...
well i suppose it is whatever triggers that realization that you are realio trulio alone that does it
i had a 8 year old son at christmas to attend to and he was asleep when the new year came in
it was one of the coldest winters ever with the pipes in my house freezing to bursting 3 times and waking up to the sound of neighbors hammering (literally) the ice off their steps to get out of the house
and the water was contaminated and I had to go to the second floor to get a bucket of water and bring it to the first floor to boil before we could use it for anything.
good times
Hmm. The holidays are indeed a tricky time of year. But, as usual.... we get on with it! (Beats the heck out to the alternative!!).
exactly soodle!
what are the stats for the z that is not 4/10?
Hi everyone
(don't look now but there is a famous rocker in the grid)
hi sea!
hi sea
Hello Sea.
no i am wrong the rocker is no there :-(
ZO 4/9 Jmc

Nope, Cos. In plus tr5/10... usually spelled with en instead of in....
ty

in7=plead
LOL jmc, for a minute, I thought you were begging for a clue!
lol no, not that time
lol soodle
Soodle, you should have said that she was in7ing us for a clue!
:-)
Well, fellow Babblers, I think I will repair to the Soodle Boudoir. Can I clue anybody before I go?
boudoir? repair? o.0
no thanks soodle have a nice night
you need to re** more of that shakespeare dfm
I'm in posh mode tonight, DFMC! Good night all. See you all soon. Poof!
lol
bye soodle

hi red
Hi Dfmchfhf...
jmc, BR has been coming on and off like that for a few days...I am thinking you did not scare him...
how about the sa 6/21?
sa6/21 is a tailor
50 left.
oh good. guess he is just sticking his toe in again then
63 for me...
86 left
ok 61 thanks to dfm's sa clue...thanks!!!
86 here also
have an sa 6/18 that sound like it could be a tailor, but don't see a 6/21
Ohhh. I am amnnouncing. I am on vacation!!!!
whoo hooo red!
it feels nice.
I hope it warms up for you red
oh oops sorry, brain still not functional nan
does the first re7 build off the re6?
my blackberry is doing something on its own and it is freaking me out
It should by Friday. I just hope for no rain.
how long a vacation?
sa6/21 is an Indian military leader.
are you coming up to visit your folks?
very cold here and I hear your weather has been as well
oh that makes more sense dfm
found the sa 7 -- unhappy pressing device
going south. Half Marathon on Sunday. Beach on the other days. Birds...
lol cyber
never mind found it
isn't south in the water for you red?
ty nan...I may have one or two around here
yes, Sea, it has been cold. Hopefully it will warm as predicted. My Mom says you all have not relly had sticking snow yet?
3 hours south...
don't know the indian military officer
Cos how are you?
not too shabby.. waiting for my debit cards so i can have money again!
No, not yet...I am still feeling the effects of last winter lol
I believe it Sea. Weather can be quite difficult.
well the moral of your story is don't be so quick to report the cards missing
I always wait a day
Hi
hi herin
sa 6/21, please?
if someone charges on them very few card companies will expect you to pay the $50 maximum
but i didnt find it 3 days later
hi herin! congrats again when do you start
and it was just a 10.00 fee
hello Herin, Yay for the Job!!!
Feb 5
For anyone who was here for my earlier story, here is a link to the picture of the candle. http://media9.dropshots.com/photos/698 395/20101208/150606.jpg
hey jmc how did the interview go??
the moral is: look harder and turn on the lights when i look :)
and yay for herin on the job!!!
hi wild I think it went well but the real estate market in philly depresses me
lol having the lights on is bound to help
if it's meant to be it will work out
Thank you.
JM you will be fine; Best wishes.
I'm not seeing a heck of a lot in this grid.
Philly depresses me. Sorry to TO and other residents.
Sorry mind distracted.
cos you should invest in some type of locator/transmitter for your wallet ;o)
Kap, its an odd grid. If you keep picking it apart it seems to reward you.
I still have 53 left though. no list of course.
well i am at the point where i almost hope they don't offer me the job because i am applying for a job i would like better
to 7, please?
You will get something
really what's that one?
FWCC Section of the Americas
doing what?
to7 are the topological product of two circles.
boss -- being boss is the only job that appeals to me
lol but what do they do?
ooo topology again!
really -- I thought it was a lottery that is won by being the last man standing!
oh they are an umbrella org of quaker meetings in the western hemisphere
found it, btw :)
so quakers again but a better position?
JM I have to go cloth shopping EKK
quakers again but a different kind of org
yeah jmc, that should have been the clue you *should* have given me hours ago when I asked :oP
and not in philly
i did that before the interview herin -- i spent the same amount as i normally would spend over 4 years
just monkeyed the sa7!
2 left: sa 6/21 and po 7 -- any clues?
*shamefaced looks at toes* sorry dfm
i didn't know you were a mathematician then
po7 = beg of boat with inflatables and fork part
Alternatively, the cartesian identities for the topology are (x,y) ~ (x+1,y) ~ (x,y+1) where ~ represents the equivalence operator.
sa 6/21 .. use the sa4 before it.. add u letters?
two letters..
ty wildcat
lol dfm i used to pay my way through college at Rice typing papers like that
u letters?
aww, I wish I could write well enough to...
2 letters not u lol
to?
to pay my way through university...
ill try again.
I've been monkeying for a long time, looking for those 2 letters!
ah -- finally!
sa6/21 = sa4/5 + 2nd and 3rd letter of the sa4/5
oh I C. I didn't write them--just typed them. Computers were ponderous slow things then and I was the proud owner of an electric typewritter
*!* ta da *!* - thanks for the help :)
ahem typewriter
yay nan
whoo hooo cyber!
now can u clue the 2nd sa6?
anyone want clues before I go and do some more packing?
same as 1st but change 4th and 5th letters
okie doke i am turning off the phones and heading home
i hear a steak calling me!
sa 6/18: perched on the first part of a folded paper bird?

Ha. Finally an in7. Almost dinner time tho.

the words are hiding in plain sight
Yeah, really.
hello all!
hi stiddy

refresh
if one is taking protnix for ulcer, and has immediate indigestion, is there anything to take for the immediate discomfort? protonix is one at night
hi all!
hi
protonix should not cause indigestion
iwould take the dose but not sure if i can eat later after taking it
take it with food at dinner - it lasts 24 hours anyway, so will still cover your nocturnal GERD
no, drug is not the cause. it's the treatment
ty kje!
ah, all the atibiotics... yes... take with food
I have reccently heard that if you have indigestion to take a couple spoons of vinegar and that will stop it.
i tseems an empty stomach is causing discomfort.
too much time between lunch , which is small, and dinner
yes, pills in general can be hard to take on an empty stomach, especially some of those antibiotics
The reason is that indigestion is often caused by too little stomach acids
can you expand the clue for do6 old man?
ty!
I'm 0/8 on teh upper left S....are they all weird?
do + mostly late
dinner was yummy but upsetting. probably ate too quickly
couple of babblets

HI everyone I missed. HOot you there?
yep - hi herin . Ihear congrats are in order!

Yes thank you Hoot. I have missed yuo
I am here. I think my brain is trying to wake up from the hybernation
It has been a long week.
38 to go...
I haven't been on much lately. Too much to do to get ready for xmas
Ok. You just reminded me I have to get the shortbread and chocolates made
weeelll - I've been on but not talking
I still have to do pumpkin pie, cherry pie and fruitcake. Anything to keep him happy.:D
70 left - enough of this torture.
24 for me...it is not that fun btu I am so close.
I have found 5 words since I got on. Too much talking
14 here
O Cherry Pie. mmmmm yummy.
need 7
Sadly this year our cherries are going to be very expensive
these are all requests from the BF. I'm not big on cherry pie.
Everything id expensive!
I use canned. Very good at doctoring am I!
Cherries wouldn't be but the problem is the rain it hasn't stopped
Po 7 Please???
cherries that is. Pumpkin, but add my own spices and fruitcake is a first. Should have been done a month ago!
Had Pa's funeral yesterday. I am not a religious person and all that but during the time the hearse left to the cemetery it pored down. It was like God was crying that a good man had left this Earth and He was crying in delight that they were getting him .
red - part of the brain
Oh my Condolences to you and yours Herin.
TY kje, got that immediatedly
yw
oh myg herin - I;m sorry to be so flippant. Condolences to you and yours
O no problems. He was my b.fs Pa. It was special
Hello all, just been working the grid and not following the chat. I see you had a funeral herinfern. There are so many good people in heaven--but they got their start here on earth. Lots of good people still among us.
red, the to7 is similar
oddly kje, that one I had... strange what we see and what we dont...
well I still am sorry.
sheesh - my last word was a fish - the semiprecious stone
yes, I am sorry for your loss.
cubic zirconia?
congrats red
StidG I am not religious in any sense but it was amazing that a storm hit right at that time. We had about 20 mil of rain in an hour
Thanks everyone.
ooooh. and congrats to KJE!!!!
We got our Christmas cards mailed today. We don't have a tree yet. My husband's toe is not healing very fast and he doesn't need the walking a tree would require. We do have lights hither and thither.
Pa and Gran were together for 70 years.
that is wonderful, herin... what a long marriage
They were married for 63 years.
My husband says he knows why older married people don't talk much--we just look at something and nod. Same brain waves.
you remind me Of my fathers funeral. He was an electrician and the lights flickered during the prayer session. I said " I think he's angry". Everyone busted. Def lightened the mood.
hello Mother! LOL
I thought you didn't talk because you were too busy reading!
O Hoot. Also Pa was a huge Techno nut. I tell you our phones are going to be quiet. B.f lost his phone. I said I bet you Pa is playing silly's on us
Hi, stidmama. Well, I do read alot but occasionally come up for air.
OK, off to clean the kitche and then bed for me... where hopefully it is warmer
Night KJE
hagn all!
yep! like yesterday! we did SUCH a good job shopping!
sweet dreams kje
now if the phone rings.....
hi people. *looking for crossy*
great job kje, clean that kitchen... I am merrily listening to other peoples dogs barking....much better than mine doing it.
hey welki
I want to go put up a tree for Gran Mere and Gran Pere.
Hi, welki. Haven't seen crossy this evening.
kind of nice, red, when it's someone else's dog making the noise :)
*helps welki look for cross*
i found a video just for him: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b1NyGmn 4D80
The last and best sms recieved was 'Help I am in the cellar'' Pa had gone down to the cellar and then discovered his port barrel. Got him stuck there
Yes, no one can call and complain about my boy today!!!
Welki, I have been trying to get Teulu groomed.
yourself? or professionally?
hey, hang on a sec and i'll show you a goofy guy
Oh, MollyL, thank you for the help. Perhaps we shall have a beautiful vertual tree with all of the ornaments. It shall be very large.
well professionally, unfortunately he is overdue for rabies... sooo, I shall spend some money this eek at vet..
refresh refresh
Nuts Red you just reminded me
Yes Gran Mere, and after the tree goes up, we will bake cookies.
well, that is a good expense, red -- like getting the flu shot for humans!
his face looks really long, the photo seems to have been distorted .. but that's my snowdog :)
no tree this year, Mother? I thought you were going to nap a stidkid to help this weekend?
Yes, it is needed. ooh let me look...
my vet isn't giving annual rabies vaccines anymore
welki! he's adorable!
my dog won't go out in snow unless he is completely desperate! LOL
Gorgeous boy Welki!!!!!!!
wish the photo looked right .. oh well
Welki is that your fluffy?
ohh, mine come ice fishing with me
We do them every 5-7 years here Welk, but he is overbue.
oops every 3-5 years I think.
Can't say for sure about the weekend because that toe is not ready for going out and about.
should be a $200 day for you, but you'll feel better and Telulu will look (and probably feel) better, too!
ah. of course. well, just let me know. I think the kiddo can spend friday night at home for a change...
so he'll be available Saturday until late afternoon or Sunday until about 3
hi herin .. that's baxter. my other is a smooth coat border collie (and there's a cat, too)
Sending more blessings for Gran Pere's toe.
?? smooth coat border collie? like it doesn't need a lot of brushing?
Oh Heavens It should be cheaper, but poor guy gets the weekend in the kennel too, which he may actually enjoy...he seems to like it there.
not much brushing at all, but he sheds like any other
weekend in the kennel? why? are you racing somewhere?
Awww Puppy
so he goes to the groomer, too ... never knew what a difference it makes. they use a machine, like an air compressor, to "blow out" their coats. the floors are amazing for a few weeks after grooming *lol*
Thank you Molly L. he is beginning to follow the doctors order to stay off his foot.
that's okay -- less brushing, same shedding. not so rough.
Drat I need to wash the kitty
:-D maybe I should do that with my scaredy-dog! one good vacuuming and for a couple days the house would look more kempt -- honestly, I sweep and an hour later it's nearly as bad!
they look like this: http://www.risingsunfarm.com/gimmick.h tml
I vacuum the kitty
Cute pup Welki
oh, that is a pretty dog, welki!
Well. I have over 100 words and have had a good visit with friends on the chat. Talk to you tomorrow stidmama. Remember when Matt used to vacuum Brandy?
gimmick's not mine, just an image i picked up off the net.
tom and the elder stidkid are home... need to get tom to change out that one headlight for me, then I have to scoot. later all!
must run .. later, folks
Yes! She was SO patient with him!
Loves Stid.

LOL! ... sorry to burst the bubble but I'm wearing black furry Uggs right now
....ON VIXEN....
Ooo, MPitt...I want to hear about the Slava. Report back after attending please.
It sounds so exciting,..it's Dec. 19 St. Nicholas day...
Molly this is my first I am a Slava virgin!
i don't understand what this Slava talk means
It's a Serbian (I think) cultural holiday celebration, PJ girl.
oh I see! sounds wonderful
MPitt, you seriously need to look into wearing a SLAVA VIRGIN t-shirt to this affair.
or SLAVE TO THE SLAVA Tshirt
wow just saw an Old Navy commercial, they have fleece pullovers for $5 on Saturday
My friend is from Serbia and his wife from Canada..the Slava is a Serbian celebration of the families move from paganism to Christianity and they have a family Saint, I believe the celebration is symbolic of Holy Communion because they have a special slava cake and wheat...
EKK I blink for a min and everyone appears
Ah, Pagan me knew it had some roots in Pagan heritage.
Molly have you been to a Slava?
I think a better shirt might read Save Kosovo..
i need bottom left i words for NBT
No, I'm just hip to different cultural celebrations this time of year. I love the way all people celebrate in different ways.
Lil, one of them is an in*** gas.
me too molly...I love to learn about others cultures...
thanx molly
I love to drink in as much knowledge as I can get my hands on and especially from individuals in a non-formal setting...although I love taking classes too!
Can I ask the Babblers if they know what incense they use in a Catholic Funeral mass
no idea, herin, just know that it makes me sneeze
Totally random question I know
It's some kind of aromatic resin from Middle Eastern countries, I think. A call to your local Catholic church might clarify that.
Lbd is allergic to Catholics. : P
I am curious. Used in Pa's funeral yesterday I swear I smelled Wormwood
Herin, try a Google search.
it's frankincense, herin
you know, the wise men brought frankincense and myrrh... those are types of incense
Thanks Monky
Tried that Google rote
I swear I had to restrain my self from yelling ZOMBIE PLAN when Father said 'and the dead shall rise''
Types of incenses used are many...see this Catholic forum for answers...http://forums.catholic.com/s howthread.php?t=212429
Thanks Mo
MP
just ordered a cool telescope for my man's Xmas prezzie

that's about where i listed, stid
how are you (personally) doing these days tea?
good. dad is getting better - he spent 2 weeks in the hospital, 2 surgeries anda collapsed lung. he will start chemo again after the new year, they did find some microscopic cancer cells in 3 of the 12 lymph nodes they removed.
hi all! hope everyone's doing alright with this toughie of a grid. I've been working on it on and off all day.
oh tea, that sounds so hard...
well gee. I hope that he is more comfortable for the moment, at least?
Hubby is on his 6th day straight at work and will probably not get a day off until his vacation starts on Christmas day. Most of his days are 12 hour ones, too, so it is tough on the whole family.
lung cancer sux
hey ballet
other wise - great ;)

lol - tough day stid?
yes, have a cold and not fully engaged fingers all day long
are you in sunny CA now?
still, stid?
not yet, stid - we leave here on Friday for Vancouver and head out from there on Saturday -- I'll wave as we go by ;)
yep. still. was feeling better for a few hours, but I think I overdid the "mom" thing going into town three times today for kid-related activities.
:-D okay! I'll wave back!
wave to me, too, nan!!!!
ok pini have to check and see where you are
* glues stid to the chair with blanket and cup of hot tea * no more playing 'mom' and going out until you're all better!
<-- Oregon
ah -- where in Oregon?
*sigh* but but but -- I am not contagious, and tomorrow I get to go be extra eyes and ea4 in a 6th grade classroom...
If you're driving the I-5 to Cali...well, I'll be on one side or the other when you drive through Eug/Spr ;)
oh! the DUCKS WON!!!!
STID!
that's Eugene/Springfield in Oregon, just at the southern end of the valley...
We will be stopping overnight in Woodburn and in Salem (have to get my tax free shopping in)
yes pini? *innocent mama look*
they sure did, stid...we're off to the national championship game in Jan (1st in our history)
oh -- we are making a stop at a winery in Eugene
about time, if you ask me. They played really well. We were impressed
which one, nan?
our men's a capella group is on TV, too!!! (and doing rather well thus far)
seems like we're having a stellar year compared to the last few
good for them all, pini!
(If you're inclined sometime...check out "The Sing Off"...)
nan, do you know the name of the winery? King Estate? Hinman? other?
Sweet Cheeks Winery (your names are as inventive as ours!) -- is there another that you would recommend, keeping in mind that we are looking for an off dry white wine?
what is the name of the men's group?
not whiffenpoofs, I think
I'm not much into wine, nan (ruru would have better input in that regard); however, if you're looking for scenery...King Estate is quite spectacular (like going to an Italian winery)...
no, stid...silly name :)
On The Rocks (OTR) :)
okay!
(you can google King Estate to get a glimpse)
oh, they're cutie pies!
aren't they, stid??? :)
*wakes up/pops in right before flip*
hiya dfm
hey dfm!
down to 13 here, listless. not too bad, I think!
well done, stid ;)
hi all :o)
