What's broken?
What's broken?
:o/ I think Babble broke.
wow, what happening to Babble this AM? I got a notice saying the sight was broken!
what happened* site*
you can see how frantic I was!!!
hi kaplan
hi {{ruby}}! :o)
it was either babble or xanax!
{{dfm}}
Hi everyone!
hello brookie
Hi, ruby! How are you?
hi brookie!
hi dfm!
Was babble inaccessible for awhile?
I couldn't get on.
we had another foot of snow and now have a houseguest!
A foot of snow! Wow! We had only an inch here a couple days ago, and everyone was freaking out (to be fair, the roads were very slick.)
servers went down temporarily, I think -- Iron was down too.
we had more than 3 feet last week, but fortunately it melted before the new snow happened
Gotcha, dfm. It's good we're back up and running. Ruby, it sounds like you have quite a winter ahead!
We had ~15cm of snow that more or less immediately turned to water this morning... then the afternoon the temperature dipped again :o(
So you had some flooding followed by ice. Yikes.
I guess I should count my blessings in Delaware!
I guess I should count my blessings in Delaware!
I imagine you have a pretty temperate climate there, brookie
we've been having weather like that for about a month now :o(
Just checking into babble, gonna try and get some more sleep now. Ruby, we can have very hot summers and very cold winters.
Sorry to hear that, dfm.
Gonna go now. Enjoy the rest of your day, dfm and ruby!
the streets and sidewalks are practically skating rinks
(poof!)
sweet (more) dreams, brookie
you too brookie! :o)
OK, half, now I can go and be a hostess, again! {{everybody}}
Is that a yay, ruby?
ruby! byeeee!
please could I have the stats for the 8s and 9
And hi everyone.
hi sally, jiv! :o)
ho8/50 + ho9/66
thanx dfm got them!!
where abouts are you Sally?
In the UK Jenny. You?
I live near Oxford and it is snowing very hard and I can't get out but husband has gone shopping for me, I hope he gets back o.k
where abouts Sally?
Oh right, I'm in Shropshire, and our road is impassable at the moment although I'm awaiting a supermarket delivery and they haven't phoned to cancel. Not snowing at the moment, but we have had snow and it is very pretty.
I wouldn't take a car out, and there is nothing on our lane except for one tractor and one 4x4!
Jiving - do you know Bedworth?
My brother lives in Penkhull. Stoke-on-Trent and I worry about him as he is nearly 80 and lives in a huge house on his own.
The main thing is for him to keep warm Jenny. We have a friend who spends her winter fuel allowance on Christmas presents and then huddles over a tiny fire because she can't afford the fuel and has no central heating.
not really godthaab, its about 40 miles from here
Are you in the UK as well, godthaab?
My wife has relatives there. I suppose they are snowed in as well. No, I am in Canada, but I was in the Oxford area last summer.
He isn't hard up and keeps his coal fire burning all year round!!! I visited him during a heatwave and he still had the fire alight!
You probably have more snow than us then godthaab!
Jenny, if he is warm and sensible he should be all right.
hi godthaab! :o)
Hello
Isn't it... late... in Canada?
It's 5:42 am. I have insomnia.
hehe... same here :oO
dfm.... Where are you?
talking of time - what part of the world does the time on the chog relate to?
Are you also strangely narcoleptic, too? :o\
the chog uses CST (GMT - 0600h)
having problems, brb
<-- is currently in Ottawa, is usually a bit further down south
thanks dfm
dfm.... No
drm.... I'm in T.O.
Back.
I'm usually in 'sauga, or in Waterloo for studies.
What do you study?
CS / Pure Mathematics. Second-year.
Interesting
small world, my son is studying CS at 'loo!
hi lindrick! :o) What year is he in?
I think he is in 3rd year, he took a small gap
Hi btw! (0:
Is pure math more difficult than adulterated math?
Hi BR
Hello
hi BR! Pure Mathematics focuses primarily on the concepts behind mathematics -- almost no numbers (!), mostly proofs and derivations, as opposed to applied mathematics, which involves much more working with numbers. (compared to engineering math, or business math, or statistics, or actuarial sciences though, still not a lot.)
Morning Dfm, lindrick and babble rabble, only on for a moment before I go suffer at work yet again.
Hi Red, long time no see, how ya doin'?
*is suddenly wondering what the Antarctican flag looks like* hi red! :o)
suffer at work?! Do: Doesn't sound too fun...
Hello, HT
i am well. You? just very tired. 3rd day in a row..
BR. Very nice to see you.
I'm good thanks, just starting my holiday! (0:
Lindrick, i think it has been since before you moved. How is everything!
Hope you are well and smiling, H
I saw 2 sandhills the other day and thought of you BR!
very good thanks, settled in fantastically (0: Been back for a year now!
thats great!
thanks (0:
that is *totally* not a flag! :oO More like a map!
Good to see the cranes.
I think so.
We flat-earthers are rather simple.
BR, you are anything but simple.
I suppose. How are you doing? Still running?
<-- is tempted to change his country to "The Universe".
Yes, I have run injry free for about 8 months now. Marathon of misery in February. Then I am going back to Half Marathons which I find easier. (for obvious reasons I suppose!)
dfm, you will have to really change the flag then.
You have had injuries to deal with, for sure.
my husband's cousin recently ran the great south run in the uk and he is 72!
teehee, I just love tamperData... ;oO
yes, but seems to be better now, which is definitely nice.
Lindrick that is great.
he si quite amazing! (0:
*is
My nose has run so much it is in excellent shape.
aww, poor BR
(0:
:D I treated my first official flu patient yesterday. Now crossing fingers and washing hands hoping I do not get the flu...
fingers crossed Red
I did get the flu shot very early, so supposedly I have some nice immunty, otherwise BR and I will have competing noses...
dfm, your flag is , errr pathetic....
*wonders what red's job is* *also wondering whether to keep his flag like this or not*
* Why didn't the grizzly wear any shoes? * He wanted to go bear foot.
yeah, "the universe" isn't an official choice.
My profile age is pathetic too ;o)
we thought you were a 1 yr old genius
nuh uh, negative one!
muat run, work...you know....
bye Red, good to see you again
bye red!
Be well, H. Good to see you.
okay, this flag is getting silly now.
Phantom: collywobbles
I don't think I had a phantom today...
Phantoms are subjective
You can't have subjective, BR, there isn't a J.
I am fed up with snow! )0:
Thank you, Sally. No use in pursuing it.
oh, no, I did have a phantom, vespine.
aww lind... at least it isn't ice though?
Snow may be quite a distraction
oh we have that under the snow dfm!
when I left Canada I thought I had left most of the snow behind.........it seems I brought most of it with me!
winter like waylays a vespine uprising.
likely
okay, collapsing unconscious and potentially having vivid hallucinations for the next four hours and then forgetting about it all seems to be an increasingly good decision right now... soon...
ok gotta go, nice chatting, cya
bue lind!
LINDY!
are u still there?
dammit I missed my Lindy-poo
yes I'm still here
LINDY OMG! how are you honey?
I miss seeing you here
I'm great thanks Monkey, how are you?
I don't chat often, but I still play
hi lil! :o)
I'm good! I woke up early for a Sat and decided to babble
hi dfm!
Lindy how are you liking it there in England?
I am loving it, except for the snow, which I was supposed to be leaving behind!
been back a year now, can you believe it!
I know! I've been hearing about all that crazy snow from the Brits
no, it 's hard to believe you've been there a year already!
okay, really have to fall and hallucinate now.
unlike Canada, every shuts down here as soon as it snows
what's wrong, dfm?
same here, Lindy... I'm in Virginia and we had a few measly inches of snow and everything shut down (except my work of course)
*points to chog just before lil came in*
oh yeah mine too )0:
Lindy be sure and eat a whole box of JAFFA CAKES for me
hahahahahahaha I'll get the grandkids to do it for you!
I loved Jaffa cakes when I was a girl living in GB
yeah they are good, but I don't have a sweet tooth (0:
Lindy have you been foloowing your fav band there?
I certainly have, see them again in March! (0:
lindy, which Kate is your daughter?
never quite liked sweet myself :o/ must collapse. night all! :o)

Hi Carlee
hi sprite :)

i'm ok flask...how are u?
and hi again une ...

lol...good!

am doing well thanx Carlee!
am back babbling for a while...and enjoying catching up with you all.....
it is nice to see you again, Flask
excellent..you picked a good grid to come back to
thanx Sprite
how much snow did they get in englad do you know flask?
this is actually my 3rd day back Carlee.....but I haven't seen anyone I really recognised up until today....and now I feellike Ive come home.....thanx girls!
Oh its very bad in London at the moment!
if it is anything like here, it is BAD
waiting to hear the definition of bad....
yep.....Its dreadful
loads of snow, no buses, no trains, most roads still inaccessible. And cold. Did I mention cold?
airports closed, trains stopped....a general standstill
what constitutes loads of snow?
as in needing to dig ourselves out
quite a lot more than we usually have here, lol
how many cm have fallen?
yep you're there Sprite!
at least half a meter
and that was in a short space of time!
hi
it is very beautiful. Mostly because all life has come to a standstill so none of the beauty is destroyed yet.
yes, it started two nights ago and went to over 30 cm in one night.
1/2 metre in england too?
hey kje :)
hi kje
hi kje...
the pics i am seeing posted on fb look more like 10 - 15 cm there
hi sprite - long time, how are you?
probably Carlee...
am good, and you?
very good
it may be less closer to the coast, carlee
am glad :)
Hi everyone!
hi Brookie!
Hi sprite, how are you?
Hi Brookie
am good, and you?
Hello to you, flask! How are you (too)?
no snow here - and will be i the 50s o x-mas - hate that
well sounds like on both sides we will have a white christmas :)
Doing well. Just procrastinating in writing articles for the Toastmasters newsletter. Better get them done this weekend.
Am well thanx Brookie...and what about you....are you well?
34 right now, but will get up to 55
procrastinating is an undervalued art
Yes, sprite, but let's talk about that more tomorrow.
lol brookie
*grins* Ok hun!
Yes Carlee.....you could put money on it!
well..the children will love that
Mmmm.....methinks the BIG kids might like it too...;)
arises
Oh noooooooooooooo.........sorry!!
and past tense too, grinnnnnnnn
lol..
Don't be sorry, flask. Those are the easiest clues to understand!
replace a low scoring conconent with a high scoring one and uthen to plural...u get a 7
I know......sometimes I wish folk would do it more often......lolol
consonent...sorry...5 hours sleep here..no coffee yet
for some obscure reason I keep seeing sovereign.
well..i still like my theme day idea..but the traditionalists would hunt me down and flay me alive should it ever happen
That's 'cause you're intelligent, sprite.
What's the theme day idea?
lol Brookie! I seriously doubt that. Must come from a mangled mind.
what is the theme idea, carlee?
thanks for that Carlee!
See sprite, now you're using alliteration with "mangled mind". Just admit it. You have a brain.
crinkum-crankum kept me hoping.
heyyy BabbleRabble, how good to finally see you again. How are you holding up?
Hi BabRab!
that people freely use any and all words in the list in chat...all day... you'd truly not have any idea on the really obscure ones....but it would just be a total crack up in the chog
if I had a brain, I'd find grid words and not phantoms that hardly deserve that name
Okay, sprite, fair enough. You're a great hallucinator.
except* on the obscure ones
Great idea, carlee!
lol carlee! That would be fun
I am doing well.
if I only had a brain....
Hello Babblers..
I think we SHOULD do it. And if someone doesn't want to participate, they don't have to look at the chog.
but....the traditionalists would hunt me down....stick my feet in concrete and throw me in the river
that is good to hear, BabbleRabble.
hey Aloy!
kje, I have heard rumours the Wiz of Oz can get you one
hi there BR
Hi aloy!
ahoy aloy!
Hi Aloy
need to find my old icon, let the sun shine
hi aloy!!!! are y ou down in sunny fla now?
yes, carlee.. rainy morn today
wait, why does aloy have a raccoon in her icon??? are you mocking me?
It had been noted in a book about the law that at one time a widow would forfeit her lands and possessions if she was caught in “amorous conversation†but she might reclaim them if she appeared at the next manor-court, riding backwards on a black ram with his tail in her hand, and reciting the following words: Here I am, Riding on a black ram, Like a whore as I am; And for my crinkum-crankum, Have lost my binkum-bankum; And for my tail’s game Am brought to this worldly shame. Therefore good Mr Steward let me have my lands again.
i swear they are stalking me! ; )
the caption is "I found your cat"
Gotta go now and run some errands. Have a wonderful day everyone!
wow. Harsh times, BabbleRabble. For the ram for sure.
Excellent, BR.. excellent
my dad just sold his condo down there aloy....
bye Brookie!
later brookie...
Bye Brookie!
I have ongoing travails with the local raccoons
Bye sprite, carlee, flask! (Poof!)
thats good BabRab...thanx!
that icon and caption is a hoot
what city, carlee?
are a hoot
bradenton
ack.. we have one for sale there too! It was my mom's.. same city
well, it is not on the market yet, but soon will be
my dad is not able to winter in fla anymore...his on a golf course down there
small world!
any fun in the hammock at the moment, BabbleRabble?
I must dig the snow away to use it.
BR has a heated hammock
how much snow where u are BR?
and a sunlamp and swaying palm tree

Mmmm...ok!
looking for a biggie myself now
North Dakota
not found them yet!
the 8/9 I just found are compounds.
where a house is not a **** is situated
just going through the grid, first pass, no biggies popping up here
the other 8 is not a common word though.
i am on the sy8
North Dakota is a place I know virtually nothing about....except in Western films...which I love!
that is the uncommon one. To me anyway
i just think of the accent that was in that one movie that everyone loved a while back..
errrrr.... which movie or accent was that, carlee?
also up in saskatchewan....they have a sim accent
fargo

that sy is pretty uncommon yes...

s + an urge or currency + *** tac toe
sy + being a riddle = ***gma***

yayay god!
*~*~*POMPOM TOSS*~*~*for thaab
lollllll oh yes, one of those defs that require you to go look up more words... 'a granular igneous rock consisting chiefly of orthoclase and oligoclase with hornblende, biotite, or augite'
oh i just found the ri5 that means to attach metal studs to something
gratz godthaab
Twas a week before Christmas and all through the house .. . ran a chill that cut to the bone
woo hoooooooooo godhab

sort rolls right off the tongue
( try using that in a sentence in the chog one day :p )
that word is interesting and so is the definition
turning like oxen in plowing; from "bous": ox, cow; "strephein": to turn) An ancient method of writing using alternate left-to-right and right-to-left lines. It used for an optimisation performed by some computer typesetting software and moving-head printers to reduce physical movement of the print head. The adverbial form "boustrophedonically" is also found
I love it!
i feel very Boustrophedonic today... during my morning jog i ran back & forth

Ditto Hurshy. Hi everybody :-)
sy + the 14th letter + 3rd person non-gender pronoun + **e cream
Hands up everybody who is counting out the alphabet on their fingers.....
(when i say the 14th letter i mean as spelled out in the dictionary, not just the letter itself)
Start with j=10.
That would be moi.
If I put my hands up I can't count- or babble.

well it's a hard word to clue!
LOL. Thanks Hurshy.

Sorry. Still haven't gotten it.
Yeah, that's what ohhhhh meant.
You are a still haven?

think of a poison that starts with cy and imagine turning it into an adjective. the sy8 sounds VAGUELY like that! :)
:)

They are a compound word and its plural
that start with...
h

hi TO
Why can I not find the red and green Holiday M&Ms? Why am I being forced to pick the red and green ones out of a regular bag? This is un-American.
target has loads of them - even pretzel
Rats. No way I'm going to Target the last Saturday before Christmas. I'll check CVS.
gasp! you had to pick your own m&m,s?? good morning everyone lol
Good morning/afternoon all.

Hello, crossy.

Well done, Soodle!
Hiya Haz. Thank you. Whats the weather doing in Ballymena?
ohh ahh! Congrats Soodle!
We've had snow, much more than normal.
Hi FM :-)
Hello, FM!
... and greetings all :)
Haz, did you make it out and back OK this a.m?
What in heaven's name is January going to throw at us, given the weather in November and December?
I dread to think, Soodle.
ditto what Haz said.
It was fine, FM, once I got onto the main road and the snowploughs had cleared one of the car parks I used.
ditto..
I ditto whatever FM dittos
The town was so much less busy than normal, even for a Saturday, never mind for the Saturday before Christmas.
A wise move, ruru, always agree with a woman.
lol Hi ruru Glad the trip was uneventful Haz, I will uncross my fingers now.
My son and heir arrived back safely from the UK this morning, so I am delighted that all my chicks are roosting at home for the holidays:)
Good news Soodle, he must have been relieved to get home, it sounded a long journey.
..yep soodle.. nothing like roosting a chick
Travel from the mainland by air is going to be pretty problematical. Did they fly or get the ferry?
He drove from Southampton to Pembroke, ferry to Rosslare, then drove to Trim. He said it was hairy!
It must have been, indeed.
Aw, poor friends across the pond. I sympathize. We had a brutal winter here last year too. Soodle, glad to hear boy-o is home safe and sound.
how can it be hairy in Trim?
some roosted potatoes with your chick ruru?
Funny you should mention that, Ruru, instead of a fatted calf, its roost chicken for dinner tonight!
<---feeling silly this a.m.
"It Was Hairy In Trim" sounds like a drinking song.
..waiting for the adjective for pork from soodle now..
Just as well he did the trip yesterday Soodle a lot of snow hasomce down today over the area he covered.
BBQ ruru!
Lol Moll. Every barbers shop and hairdressers in Trim has a 'funny' name, mentioning Trim.
<--------- as usual, desperately trying to think of an answer for Ruru....
Good thing there are no Jersey people there. "Getting some trim" has a WHOLE different meaning in Jersey. *Goes to the PB in case I offended anyone*
Hi all.....a clueplease for me4 and me5?
ruru you are looking silly today too :))
roosted chicken...fatted calf.. ??? pork
Barbecued Pork
Hello Flask - nice to see you again.
Greetings, Babble Friends!
Me + the begining of nothing flask
Hi Haz, thankyou...and you too!
Pig-in-a-pork.....
me4/10 - me plus first two letters a word that means nothing, nil.
Hello, Scrabbler.
Hey
been thinking of you, with all the snow
Hello Scrabs!
Hi Flask, and Scrabbs :-)
It's been .... different. I've never seen so much this side of the water.
Tons of snow here, sunny and 20 degrees F--a great day to go cross-country skiing in the woods!
I hear Camilla got quite the scare the other day you englanders
Hey, UK friends, I am addicted to BBC-America MI-5/Spooks.
How have you been managing, Flask? I was glad my daughter wasn't in Edinburgh any more when I saw the news of the weather there.
I think its unheard of...lol
Oh yes Spooks is good.
Well am 50 miles south of Edinburgh......but they had it sooooo bad.....
I cannot multi-task, e.g. do a crossword or be on the internet, when watching Spooks--so much happens so quickly.
I haven't been out of house in over a month!
I know, it looked awful, but I'm sure you still had more than your usual amount.
Electric chair doesn't do snow well.....lol
Oh, Flask.... You must be going bananas?
Oh goodness, that does restrict you teribly. You get stuff delivered?
I'm realising now why you've come back to babble, anything to avoid looking at snow!
I do yes....bt I have three excellent carers...and one lives in my street!
I had realised that you weren't chatting but didn't know whether you were still doing the puzzle.
hi all
Hello, TO!
Hi Owl. How is your father?
Hi TO, how is your Dad doing?
No I went off for a while......was feeling very down and I felt I wasn't being very friendly in here...so felt I should take a complete break
Hi TO
But you're feeling better now?

So no heart attack? The heart is working OK?
Yes I am thanks......tell me Haz, Have I missed any news I should know about?

Goodness, news... What period of time have you been away?

Thats a big relief TO
Very lucky, guy, Owl, although he has had a tough sveral weeks.

Flask, you have been missed and please come here to be welcomed and cheered up.
well we did not make it there in time, because my bor sutpidly asked and i stupidly said yes, pick me up
Okay, let me see. It's not that I pay much attention to the chat log or anything but I'll do my best to recall what's been going on. The others can chip in with their contribution.
i am going up there soon. hi hazel
Bottom O--any clues so that I can get to NBT?
thankyou Scrabbler!
common os4/4 babblet
plural the letter scrabs
wb flask
NM, I see some now.
First big news is that Dr-G announced that he was going to revamp babble so that it would be more modern etc. He's still working on it because, as you see, it's the same as before.
what you bake in scrabs?
Can't wait to se Haz's synopsis of months worth of babble activity.
I got all 3. The Periwinkle Phenomenon works again.
.. fresh apricot/cranberry scones out of the ov4 anyone want some?
mmm.......no change so far....
ty for you concern scrabs. he still has underlying afib whcih they were thinking of putting in a chip for. and may need another stent.
I'll have to be terribly circumspect, though.
Put one aside for me, ruru.
dorens has a new Job, jmc is applying for new ones she left her old job
Kje is as cranky as ever
lol
but he is actulayy relived. could the breathinbg have been because of the closing arteries?
Owl, everyone would agree that having an ill parent, especially and aging, ill parent is a fear, worry, concern. etc.
and EvaN got married
JBV's husband died recently. :-(
Stidmama is still learning to be a teacher. herin has passed her exams and has got a job.
oh nice EvaN....
the much bigger news is that evan finally found shoes for the wedding
Yes, Owl. Does he feel better today?
ruby's husband and the dog-bite experience
I had my gallbladder removed and failed in my attempt to have the surgeon do liposuction while I was there.
jbv's husband passed away
LOL ruru, and we are still waiting to see pics of them.
Oh yes, ruby's husband was attacked by a dog and a heron ate all the fish in the pond, except that it didn't, it ate one and the rest were hiding.
Am sorry to hear that....is she ok?
I officially turned old not too long ago
George Clooney and I have set a wedding date and Haz agreed to be our wedding planner. All Babblers are invited!
LOL!
he sis right awfterwards last night - was coherent and smiling with relief, like now I will be better, they know what is wrong and fixed it. before that he was feeling very sorry for himself. he slept well and sat up this morning.
JBV seems to be doing okay, she's been chatting quite freely.
Jellens Tim also passed away
yes she is flask ... doing remarkably well
You are not, Ruru! You will always be a kid!
Love a good wedding, so I do!!
Scrabbler is heading ever closer to incarceration in the Home for the Bewildered.
Oh, my daughter is getting married next August.
Fortunately medications have kept me away from that home, Haz.
That and the straitjacket dangling over your bedhead to remind you.
ooh, i LOVE year end recaps!!! Best stories of 2010!
Oh congratulations Haz!.....bet you're excited!!
does the home for the bewildered have an address? why would they need one?
Haha, Ruru!
Lurkers remain unidentified.
We were very pleased, Flask, the young man came and asked permission to propose and we practically fell at his feet in gratitude.
rofl....
Trolls continue to visit.
Glad you restrained yourself on that one haz
What other news?
Some Babblers STILL ask for a clue for almost every word, and, of course, the first clue given isn't enough to help.
I'd hate to miss out on a big story.
Oh dear.....trolls will be trolls!
Nutty Buddy remains nutty.
fols continue to reappear after absence smooth papa, leslie ann
Haz, that's so sweet about your son-in-law to be. What a charming thing to do.
We've had quite a lot of new faces and then some people disappear and reappear.
Dan2bit + Mrs 2bit had a daughter, Maggie, born 5/8.
excuse me,i would like a clue for everything but ti 4/6 please lool!
Oh nice!
It was, Molly. He came in, looking very tense and closeted himself with my husband. I just had to wait for the murmur of voices to cease. I just got back to my chair in time and threw away the glass that i had pressed to the wall. (Not true...)
Ruru has been asked to play doubles at the Australian Open next month.
sprite still does the grid very fast, others do it at a more leisurely pace.
and of course crossy has been as naughty as ever :)
And Crossy is a sweet wiseguy as usual! Crossy, what is your snow total so far?
but I had to decline with a ham-string injury
me?? looks around innocently...
Scrabbler I can be guilty of not getting answers on first clues....Haz can vouch for that!
Hang on Cross. I'll post all the words in the chog. NOT. : P
just a tad over 6 feet in 2 weeks
And me too, Flask.
((crossy))
this really seals it. haz, will you publish the offical 2010 babble year 2010 recap ?
((fm))
Ruru, you have plenty of time to heal.
oh
I bought a new Babolat racquet scrabs
Come on, Ruru. Bob Bryan is hurt and twin, Mike, needs a partner. Who else but you?
I have to learn how to use it.. it is a lethal weapon
We've not covered the ardilla move from Japan to Spain nor redturtlehead's running.
Ooh, the one Roddick uses?
yes and Rafa
Whats ruru been asked to do??
If I had to do a proper recap, I'd have to re-read the chat logs again. How much is it worth, TO?
kje has 2 new, beloved pets: a raccoon and a gecko.
I put a hole in someone the other day
Play doubles in the Australian Open.
ok folks, time to go visiting. catch you all later.
bye TO
hurshy's dad has had an aneurysm but is recovering after surgery.
Good to see you TO.
Ruru, once I clobbered someone right in the jugular. She hasn't been the same since.
Bye Owl
See you later, TO. My best wishes for your dad's recovery and look after yourself as well!
Nice to see you TO
the golf open????
nie to see all of you, eps flask. happy babbling.
At 57/75 I must take a break. BBL.
Other babble news - flip time sees people racing to find the big words and the hour of no clueing has gone by the board.
<---hates golf
I need a clue for se 6/18. after the word meaning half. It will not take semitic or semite
nice to have you back flask,i have been debating a bacon creation for just such an auspicious occasion...
Jillibus still follows the themes for the icons, and gets annoyed if the rest of us don't.
crossy you can wear your bacon tuxedo
lolol
inge, se6/18 - first three letters are the start of the opposite of junior, then he she or ** followed by a vowel.
indeed;)
*tosses crossy in a spinach salads*
Bye! *poof*
On the marriage front, Trif has got divorced and carlee is on the way to it.
salad???! crossy runs for the bacon bits....
Oh dear poor souls!
Oh I must get to work, lovely to see everyone. might be back in a while.
ruby would probably like to do the same but she's declared herself too old to change things now.
Bye Mitch!
thanks Haz. I tough semitic was a good word. Anyway I got fireworks
oh.. I forgot.. feather got tattoos on her butt
Bye, FM!
Well done, inge!
Birth, death, marriage, divorce, new friends, old friends...the circle of life.
and elegant and i have just celebrated out 17th..i honestly think she is just trying to outlive me to get my incredible wealth:))))
It certainly is!
Oh and I forgot...butt tattoos. : P
tattoos on her but?? do we have pics??? videos????
no.. she's being cagey about them
lol
lol
Anyone got a handy bucket of water for crossy?
Is it a tramp stamp, or something more interesting?
well if they are on her butt, they are not for her so see,but others,so she better get that mirror and camera goinbg
dunno.. kje told me about it..
lol
Have we missed out anything vital?
I think she was lying though.. but it makes for a good story
i saw on on a tourist honey last year, she was waring a thong and just above her butt crack was a tattoo saying "my name is kelly"...must be a busy girls...lol
Of course,we'll soon be approaching the anniversary of ruru's publicised attempt to stay away from the chat log.
As you can see, his resolution wavered somewhat.
Haz your a star, thankyou for all that!
oh yes.. I am going to try it again
No problem, Flask.
was about to say you are doing well ruru :)
How is Spangle and Mr Haz, our favourite?
vet!
Spangle is okay, she's got a thyroid problem but it's kept at bay with tablets.
Mr Haz is fine, he's got his winter tyres fitted on the car again so that he can cope in the snow.
as long as she is ok.....
She's fine. I'm feeling a bit foolish for having got her trimmed just in time for all this snow.
He's gonna find it hard this year....
you all come for a visit to my place,i will get you ladies driving in some real snow;)))
He's found that they make quite a difference, and it saves the trouble of being towed out of lanes by tractors all the time.
ruru, are you really going to try staying away from babble again, or are you just angling for more pleading for you to stay?
lol
Honestly, people were wringing out hankies last year and he stayed away for a day.
babble is not addictive,i have quit many times;)
nobody wrings hankies for crossy..sniff
We know you'd want us to be brave.
lol
I do not drive in any snow, if I can help it. I'm the "stay home and make soup" kind, for those who like to go slipping around on the roads.
Okay, I must shift myself to get some present wrapping done. The Christmas tree goes up this evening so we'll look Christmassy inside as well as out.
Have a good day and enjoy the grid, bye for now!
FIREWOR for FLASK
Happy wrapping Haz. Use the ironing board. It's easy on your back.
Oh, well done, good timing!
yaa for flask!!
thanx all
Toodle-oo!
crossy has his tree up:)
bye..
am going too....take care all....byeeeeeeeee
And are there presents under your tree Cross?
there are indeed
i am way ahead of the game this year, usually i start at 2 pm on the 24th lol
sounds like my husband
he's got them bought and wrapped this year
we do learn:)
I think he got tired of everything being picked over - lol
yes, you do
one year i started at 3 pm on the 24th and drive an hour to the nearest big mall, shopped like a mad man till 7 pm then the last store closed and i got kicked out of the mall..got back to my town at 5 minutes to 8 only to find i had bought no tape or wrapping paper..found a corner store that was open for 5 more minutes, grabbed the last roll of tape and all he had was 2 rolls of birthday wrapping paper so i grabbed that back into the car and i stumble into the house at 9 pm and dump all the stuff on the floor..was wrapping till 3 in the morning and of course i had no dinner and was having vodka and gingerale so by 3 am i was 3 sheets to the wind and the kid gets up at 4:30 am lool
so i decided never to do that again lol
Crossy, that totally sounds like my style of xmas shopping.
And hi everyone.
howdy brookie
Hi Brooke. I just can't do it that way. It would take all the enjoyment out of the season. I have to sip the season like a fine wine, a bit at a time.
Hi Molly and Crossy. I guess because I was raised Jewish, I don't think about xmas shopping till the last minute. It's not ingrained in me.
lol i sipped the season that year like still moonshine lol
you are so funny, crossy
:)
I'm more like Molly.
this year i am all done but for one the mrs does not know about
I mix my shopping in with baking, doing the cards (and I write a personal note in each one - 68 this year), then put up the tree and the decorations.
I enjoy it all.
Love to give - don't care if I receive.
lol,was going thru the books case the other day and pulled out a book i was given in 1993,they year my wife was pregnant with our son and the inscription on the flyleaf was to daddy from baby melbourne lool...kid is 17 now
was a fine christmas that year...:))
Me too TNana. I don't give a thought to what I might get. So when I do get things, they are always a nice surprise.
se6 pls
Those are fun memories, crossy.
It bears repeating- Enable is anti-Semitic today.
se + baby louse + personal pronoun
Semite, semite, semite
ty for se6
all my books are that way:)) i have a hardcover of lord of the rings my brother game me in 1988 and a first edition hardcover of weaveword that my sis gave me in 1990
No Semites accepted.
By order of Enable.
It's fun to look back on what they wrote on the inside. I did that with a lot of books I gave my hubby.
did not really want her chicken scrath on the fly leaf of a fist edition, but what are you gonna do?
are you looking for the one with the hair louse???
yes, makes all the books more special
Already clued Hoot.
wireforks. thanks all cluers
hi - no - I have it but some seem unsure
yaa for dan!!
Kap, if it makes you feel any better, Celts are not accepted either. Come join me in the back of the bus.
It accepts a slur for Italian. Go figure.
Good for you Dan. Happy holidays to cute lil baby 2bit.
us canadians are only accepted half the time with our britt spellings so i shall join you at the back of the bus
It accepts a slur for everyone!
Party in the back of the bus!!!!
crossy breaks out the bacon vodka!!
Cross, you need to make those bacon bread stick appetizers. I promise you, you won't be sorry.
Can I have the soy version?
mmmmm
i put up a recipie the other day for bacon, pecan and blue cheese cookies
I'll settle for my Grey Goose ty
WTH!
They are easy. Wrap a piece of bacon around a crusty bread stick (like Stella Doro) Sprinkle liberally with Parmesan cheese, and bake until the bacon is crispy. Make a lot, people scarf those things up.
mmmmmmmm
so i'm online using the hospital wifi - i suppose it wouldn't be advisable to log in to my bank website from here?
*Passing vegetables tempura to Kap*
No, no, no Hursh.
no,too public
Hursh, how is your Dad?
veggie Kap? How about chopped dates, soaked in milk then blended w/cream cheese? Ritz cracker heaven
All sounds good unless the bus is too bumby back here
(Or dates soaked in brandy)
bumpy
G's gonzo.
Sherman is trying to channel a "back of the bus" song through me.
Hi all, to join in the Christmas spirit, just saw ad on TV of Godiva Chocolate Infused Vodka. Showed it mixed with Bailey's into a martini. Must get some right away.
Or Hummus - Goya chickpeas + tahini + lemon juice + garlic . Blend & serve w/pita bread
Maybe it's ACDC. I'm back....back in the back of the bus again!!!
my dad is doing well thanks. i mean, coming along. he could be moved to a regular room, if one opens up. he can't really walk yet, but his muscles should be making rapid progress from here on out, and he should be able to eat solid food soon too.
you can even sprinkle some chopped tomatoes & feta cheese over it
I;m making my self hungry!
Just hit another bump. Driver, slow down.
for some reason i can't open lickety - is it my connection or is anyone else having trouble?
i'm trying the printable clues, though, i don't know how many people use that.
I was able to open lickety
I do hurshy -
meze
nuts!
hoot,you give the bestest clues...
I try :D
pl too
Hursh, so glad to hear of your Dad's slow and steady progress. You must be so relieved.
Hootie, pecan bars and hot chocolate in the PB for ya.
no choc but ty for the pecan bars!
Well then Hoot, I restocked the bar yesterday. Go wild.
omg - what an invite! tytyty
thank you molly :)
i have reached the dreaded 14 (dun dun dun)
where did everybody go?
Went for some5thing to eat. What's the dreaded 14?
when you have 14 words left to find.
once, i didn't want to get the list, but i was really stuck and i gave in and got it with 14 words to go. so ever since then that's the dreaded 14.
oh - I need 3 - printable list works
aaah
thanks hoot
I keep going til I can't find words anymore - then I list. Sometimes 60 sometimes 2. I think I've gone listless 3x since I started
i try for 50% lol
yeah that's usually what i do now - well, i usually get at least 90% before listing cause that's pretty reasonable for me. but before, when i wasn't working, i kind of just used babble to occupy as much of my day as possible, so that's when i was more into going listless.
well right now I'm spending as little time as possible here cause there is so much to do for the holidays
I should be putting the lights on the tree right now!
with my dad in the hospital, i skipped the tree this year :(
think I'll leave those 3 for later. Need anything before I go?
Oh sorry about your father but wouldn't the tree help cheer you up?
for me, the decorating would keep me calmer
it would but i live 2 hours away so i've just been in and out of town, working, going up here to the hospital, so i just haven't had a chance.
oh that's too bad. You need some me time too!
i'm doing ok :)
i have a question regarding something says isn't here, but I am pretty sure is a word
When will he be able to come home?
go for it, interpim!
gite is a word, but it won't accept it
don't know exactly, hoot. they just keep seeing how he's progressing and then deciding what to do.
what is the meaning of "gite"?
interpim - the enable dictionary is like non-other. Has words NOBODY ever uses and ignores words we do.
it's a french holiday
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/G%C3%AEte
got to love enable
perhaps it is considered a proper noun
holiday home rather
also loves archaic and foreign words (especialy scot) too
do not feel bad iterpim,i think enable was last updated during the crusades;)
kind of like a time-share
cwms comes to mind
I figured about the late 40's
lol
well I hope he gets well sooner than later!
so I'm off - bbl
Updated during the Crusades. That explains weewee.
lol
hello all
*DOUBLE twisting triple backflip with half-turn to somersault and a flourish* hey all!
*wonders if carlee will notice*
howdy carlee,stidmama
hey cross! how are you doing? still snowy?
got the Z!
yup, still snowy, though no new snow today.6 feet in 2 weeks is enough.we are actually digging out the top 2 feet of stop signs
oh my, that's WAY too much. We'd have to close schools for the next three months if that happened.
bands are so big we are honking horns and flashing high beams at 4 way stops cause we cannot see traffic coming the other way
banks
I cannot even imagine that, cross. But I suppose life goes on, eh?
it does indeed
good news i i have not had a mosquito bite all week;)))
we have no snow, very little precip of any kind at the moment, and I am grateful. Two years ago on the boys' brass choir concert night it was snowing quite a bit, and we ended up being trapped at home for a week.
rofl! Looking at the bright side?
any hint on se 6/18
brb phone
and crossy must head to work for a bit.tc all and happy babbling!

Hope you are keeping warm ruby.

I've been cooking, so I'm actually hot!
we had more snow yesterday and it's very pretty but dangerous for walking and driving
see you tomorrow!!
I keep changing my thoughts at the moment Kazzer I going for Pamela, just hope I can stay awake long enough to see part 2. Who are you behind?
Nighty nighy ruby.
Although Karen .. as soon as they start up that Santana music I am sold.
I guess Kazzer has fainted so I will go and get some smelling salts and make myself a coffee.
I am watching strictly too - just popped in while the lottery is on. Very hard to choose between them...

hooray for jc
jeese there are helicopters and trucks outside my house--not a quiet day at home at all
what have you done now jmc?
ooh - whats going on?
no clue I do not think they are linked
the trucks seem to indicate my neighbors are having a part
*hic* party
you haven't been stshing contraband bacon again have you?
We've had major amounts of snow for us - about 5 inches
no the bacon soap was already sold out!
so we didnt go anywhere so i could finish the grid earlier than usual
we had snow but thank goodness it wasn't much and all the streets are completely clear
snow is not an expected event in southern England and we all seem to make too much of it
The little road/cul-de-sac where I live is a hill and only 2 cars went down it today and none came back up.
5 inches is nothing to sneeze about in an area that doesn't have much snow
Our road is quite a main road through town - lorries use it as a rat run to avoid Chards tourist attraction - the traffic lights and it is still covered in snow
i am not on a main fairway but next to one so sometimes we get a bit of traffic
where are you fm
hi lyn, tor! :o)
the traffic lights are the tourist attraction !?
Haz was saying earlier that they have about 10" and she has never seen that much . W.Sussex Kazzer.
(must be a really small town!)
yikes! 10 inches is a lot of snow at one time
you are talking about snow then (such a leading line FM)
big joke - chard is a crossroads for 2 main A roads which cros at the traffic light and it got bu**er else to make folks stop
ha ha lynxxx
bu**er?
hi - can someone give me a clue for the z word. ty
i dont suppose you get much in Sussex either do you
*blushes at lynxxx's remark*
rude word
zo4 - all vowels
I don't mind the snow it is the ice that is the problem.
Left column grayed.
zoai
it is all vowells wilbur zo4
hi kap
hoorah to KAplan
Careful, careful...
oops sorry
Hi JM
hi Kap
Hi
oh okay kazz i had to think of all the rude british words i knew lol!
close wilbur but no cigar
I've only lived here for a year Kazzer, moved in a year last November into a very rural area which is lovely but winter was not like this at the old home.
got it thanks!
wtg wilbur
what's a rude word?
i try to be good here as it is the middle of the afternoon with you and i dont like to use bad language in case children are about
insert double g dfm
my hubby had some relatives that lived in Seaford but unfortunately they have now both died
no no i totally agree if i had figured out what you meant by myself i would have never mentioned it kaz
oh, that word.

i am waiting for the boy to show up so we can buy a tree :-((((
and ditto what jmc said
are you Kazzer?
Did you make peace with your nephew jmc?
any one out there really - i managed to get a 3ft fake tree for £1 which was good value for money
the marine? yes sort of
down to two S's and two V's; the Vi 6 & 7 letters, and first si 4/5, and si 5/12--clues would be most helpful at this point!!!!
yes i am - only fly in the ointment was not going to mums today
sounds like a deal kazz
we will have to try and get there one day next week
Just found out today that the presents I had ordered online for family in Scotland won't be delivered due to the backlog and bad weather.
vi6/7 are the people that suffer from cr5/6
oh dear fm that is disappointing
jacq said that as well - she reckoned they wouldnt arrive until January

ah ha on the vi's; convolutions gallore
ah ha on the vi's; convolutions gallore
hark hark i hear a boy! bbl

laters, mitch

bye FM, kazz!
I have 18 left and have been trying not to do lists- just he tile stats below. Don't think I can make it tho.
JMC!!! The fade picture is hilarious!!
hi gwen, SH! :o)
doing the same Kap - at 16
I have 8 more 4 letter words left
10 here
the poor man was booted out of traffic court for wearing it molly -- i want to take his constitutional law case!
89 left
but I didn't come on in the morning like i usually do
If it helps, total score is 1566. (knowing that helped me!)
Hi - diddilly - ho, neighbors. That is an interesting uh, hair statement. Would you call that a dread fade? Or maybe a braid fade?
lol i would have to care more for that to help dfm!
it is a christmas fade
Okaaaaay.
hi Judi
those are reindeer antlers
hi judi! :o)
thanks for the help lynxx, I also just got the last si--the little hidden fella
happy babbling to all
bye shadow
yw Shadow - bye
Although that "hair statement" does not appeal to me, I can't believe a judge booted him out of court for it. That has the makings of a great discrimination case.
bye SH!
better a first amendment right to make a statement with your hair :-) strong case law for a $1000 per event
Traffic court no less. Actually, there is no "less" than traffic court. Maybe it wasn't just the hair, but the whole outfit. Can't see what Santa Homey is wearing, though.
he was wearing regular clothes
just a case of a petty bureaucrat thinking he is all that because he can call himself judge
Okay. Well, I think he could make an appeal. Was he found in contempt or just told to return with more appropriate head wear?
don't know the details
most traffic courts do not have a system of appeal
True. However, he could submit a request to the most senior judge to censure the booting judge.
at the very least judi
anyway he go his hair saloon on national tv so i am sure that help soothe his rumpled feathers
da** i wish my boy would get here. I want to get a tree and get it over with
I used to work for a tall, upstanding Jewish lawyer, who once wore beads in his hair when he went to personal injury court (arguing for the Ins. company). He had just gotten back from Jamaica and was still feeling the vibes, mon.
lol
And he was a senion partner in the lawfirm. 50+ years old. Go figure.
a friend of mine argued before the supremes with his butt length hair in a ponytail
he has since cut it off
is there more than one SM word?
i have 2 sms
See, I applaud the butt length pony tail in front of the Supreme Court. It forces them to look beyond appearance and hear words.
ty book
scratch that, there are at least 3 sms
all related
exactly 3.
ty i have them all now
okay the boy is really here this time bbl
or not -- i have a party tonight too
bye jmc and boy
:-)
*poof*
Hello, Fellow Babblers; how are you all today? I'm babysitting our grandson who is down for his nap; I hope he sleeps another 1 1/2 hours as *this* Gramma is bushed!
Hello peoples. How's it goin?
hi Nef! and Mark
Hiya, Nef and Mark.
Hey, I don't get an exclamation point?
hi Mark, lynxxx, and Judi
Hey Mark!!
! Let's not push it.
Thanks. Hey!
exclamation points are for old pros, Mark. ;-)
hi nef! :o)
Fine. Anyway....
hi dfm
now now Nef, no need to call yourself that
and hi Mark! :o)
Were you on this morning dfm?
lynxxx, today I feel quite old.
that's what nana naps are for Nef
but Gampa took a nap instead of me!
I think I fell unconscious this morning.
Okay. I have to protest on this one. We are getting shorted three legitimate words here: Semite, Semites and Semitic. Dictionary.com defines them as nouns and an adjective (NOT proper nouns).
I asked a hint from ya. I didn't get it1
yeah, I want to protest that too judi ;o)
I would uphold that protest Judi -
Ditto
MJ, what hint? from ME? :oO
hello all
stopping at 42, BBL
Hey dorens!
hi Dorens! :o)
*hands on hips* *stomps foot*
Did you want a clue for something Mark?
hi Dorens
when are you going to come up with a picture and profile mark?
sometimes, Mark, people get lost in the grid here. Sometimes we wander off for coffee or whatever. I think we all ask for hints and don't get responses at times
tantrums judi? i deal with enough of them at school these days!
hi Dorens
Sorry. Righteous indignation moment only. Not a tantrum.
I can't get a profile because I don't have a credit card #. Too young; People have told me to look at Dr_God but I don't know what it is
hi nef, df etc. lol
<-- is/was in the same position MJ ;o)
hmm,, have you tried Mark?
Yes, I have. I feel like I have looked everywhere.
http://www.playbabble.com/profile_mini .php?id=1
bottom left of this page... become a friend of babble
then click on dr_god's name
you could also go to the very bottom of the page...
I sent him a note.
good idea
Clue for Se6/18, please?
df, you have a great vocabulary for a 1-year-old ;)
sorry don't have it or i would give it to you judi, don't want to see that hand on the hip foot stomp again!
ok.. house of congress, change last vowel
Nm. I have it. Oy.
hi leslie! you're reading it wrong, I'm negative one!
oh well then that's the most impressive vocabulary ever for a fetus
I wanted to make it -42 but UNIX datestamp terminates in 2030 :o(
Hey Leslie? How's the grid for y'all?
just started
Also, can I have a hint for the ze4?
zo, i meant
Z + three vowels.
Got it. Ty
Fireburps!
hey all -- down to 60 earlier, vision-induced migraine and I HAVE to play.... SO frustrated with lack of clear communication from children's concert groups.
YAY Judi!!!
YAY, Judi!!! WTG!!!
(((stid))) I HATE migraines!
WTG judi! can i have the ho9?
my boys MISSED the morning rehearsal for today's two concerts... and they didn't bother to call us until they were late getting to the pre-concert dress rehearsal!!!!
thanks Nef. *sniffle, whine*
Hiya, Stid. Sorry you're not feeling well. We need Haz here for an official ruling on the glaring and unjust absence of "Semite, Semites and Semitic" from the allowable words list.
Mark -- plural of the place you build your house
Ho9 is plural of the Ho8:
Hey stid! Sorry you aren't feeling well! Nothing to cheer you up like babble!
"negro" is also not found in enable... which is puzzling to me, since it is also a legitimate, historical term
thanks Mark! that's just what I thought, too!
It's also the Spanish word for "black". Gee, we never see foreign words in Babble. ARRRGH.
es la verdad, Judi! LOL
Okay. I'll be pouting untill tomorrow. Have a loverly evening, all. *POOF*
(((Judi))) have a spectacular rest of your day!
*scans chog for signs of welsh and irish folks....* I suppose it's too late for Haz to show up and settle this.
What are you talking about, stid?
Haz is a babbler from Ireland who knows WAY more about words and usage than I do.
Haz is a very wise Babbler, but she's on in the morning (for those of us in the US)
hi babblers
hey julie -- I got a kick out of your "ac" posts yesterday!
hi Jules
it wasn't me sons pc is down and he was playing on mine lol
he also shared a few things to twitter *sighs*
hi nef :)
oh! *grin* it was funny anyway, led to me having a small review of welsh grammar!
oh oh... KIDS! *exasperated mama look*
sorry i missed it ;o)
told him if he carried on they might not let him play when he is older, so he shut it down fast lol
:-D
I have tried to update my profile and get a picture, but it is sadly failing; someone please help me
and he loves helping me
how is everyone today?
I don't suppose you want to trade your'n for my clueless newly-minted adult who couldn't remember he had rehearsal this morning?????
other than the kid stuff and the migraine (and the messy house) I am doing really really well. Surrounded by friends (online and real-life) who are keeping me going!
how about yourself?
no, but thanks for the offer I am to forgetful to be in charge of a newly minded forgetful adult to
Great with friends, stid.
hello everyone
BUGS!!!! (((hugs bugs))) one of my best supports!
Hey bug!
poor stid. hugs to you today
migraines suck, I suffer myself *hugs* we are ok thanks. Ex playing stupid games via solicitor but if he wants to waste his time and money he can.
Can i have a hint for the sy8?
Hey Mark. I am not the computer person you need to talk to
I sent Tom and riemann off with the kids -- they will attend the first concert today, and I will go with Tom to the second.
Anyone?
I don't have it Mark. sorry
oh no, not you too! We seem to have several rather vindictive ex's plaguing babblers. I do not approve. *stern mama look at vindictive Ex's*
not even half way
I will look for it Mark, hold on.
yep. got it. now for a clue...
Hi everyone...could I get a clue for the sy8 please?...and Mark I updated several weeks ago and it took a few days for my new icon to show up
it is an adjective derived from a noun. It means having the qualities of a particular chemical.
he can try stid, but wont get anywhere so i am trying to forget it. Christmas more important. Let the legal eagles battle it out and earn themselves a nice holiday lol
R u talking about moi?
cy + vowel + first three letters of text-spelling for opposite of day + 2/3 of frozen water word
no not me mark
I meant SY in that clue. *sigh*
sea, hello! and that is a lovely icon image!
Hi stiddie and thank you...great clue thanks
Got it stid! ty
glad it worked! try to not make them too easy
arggg...dog is barking for something
That word turns me to halfway! Yaaaaaaay!
thanks stid. great clue
go Mark go!
Bugs, how are things up your way? the north Sound got a lot of wind last night, but we were fine...
I am a rookie at this game and so that is very good for me. I am good with words, but playing with you guys has made me realize that I have a lot more learning to do.
its a lovely addiction mark
I am NOT going to make it north this vacation btw... I just need more time recuperating. Will try to come up this summer though.
We had a bit of snow during the night but it is washing away as rain right now. I was so exhausted from school I did not pay attention to it and just had a good long sleep.
good one to get the kids helping with to sometimes
we ALL have so much to learn! LOL glad you are enjoying the challenge!
I am going to HAWAII tomorrow. Anyone jealous?
good for you bugs. sorry school has been so exhausting. are you on break now?
slightly, Mark -- but I hate to travel, so only jealous about the being warm part! LOL
wow mark, enjoy your holiday
Howdy Stid, G&J and Bugs.
Hi everyone!
Well stid, if you gus can plan a holiday to the island, you are most welcome to stay here. We have a good double bed for you two, and a futon and or a Westfalia van for the boys. There is lots to see and do here that you might have a good time at a reasonable cost.
hey Molly! :-D
I have gone to Israel, so even the 9 hour flight doesn't bother me. Hey Molly1
its the packing, unpacking, washing and organising I hate. As a mum it seems more work on holiday than staying at home lol
SO TRUE!
thank you bugs! If tom ever gets his passport... LOL otherwise, I may just come alone!
hey Champ!
I am jealous Mark. I have never been to either place.
hi molly
but Bugs HAS been to lovely Olympia, and has seen the wonders of the casino... roflmao
We are on our Christmas break now so I have no more excuses to be playing Babble instead of trimming a tree and baking cookies etc.
I am envious Mark...I do agree with garyandjulie though abrout the packing, unpacking, etc..just went through that in October
I have been to many places in my short life, like hawaii, england, and israel/jordan. Who knows, I might have seen a couple english babblers there!
yes stid, that casino was beautiful.
my boyfriend was marvelling over fact I had never been to a casino last month.
I've been to england mark LOL
Mother made spritz cookies yesterday that I can eat!!! But I haven't tried them yet. She says she'll make some of the regular kind, too, so the "safe" ones will be all for me!
Must go get ready to attend a Christmas party..later all and have a great evening
Why can't you eat them Stid?
I have been into the casino Bugs and Jill and jmc and pinikula stayed in, but only to have a meal -- never was in one before that!
have fun seaspray
See ya later sea!
I can't have cow things or wheat things anymore, Molly -- so Mother often bakes separately for me when she wants to make something nice for my kids.
enjoy, Sea!
thats nice of her stid :o)
thanks everyone (poof)
I am Jewish, so I don't celebrate Christmas. However, I do celebrate Chrismahannakwanzaakah, however you want to spell it;
reminds me i must have mince pie before the boys inhale them
This was a casino created with interlocking logs, like a log cabin only 4 stories high. It had huge river stone fireplaces and native art and artifacts everywhere. I never gambled but had lots to look at.
Wow Stid, no wheat, no dairy. That's a pretty limited diet.
yes, Mother is wonderful -- I like to cook and bake too, but I rarely have the time and energy to do much.
Can I have a hint for the ho9?
I made mince pies, shortbread and cinnamon biscuits today
well -- I can still eat most vegetables (not eggplant though), and tolerate chicken and eggs still.
phatom...soviet
how about rice stid? It is usually ok
No loss on the eggplant Stid.
I am a very picky eater, so most of the food you are mentioning is not to my tastes.
my left side slightly weak so i was really glad when ex bought me a kitchen aid years ago, meant i can ix or knead most things now without getting tired
hint for the ho9 please!
I can't get into this grid tonight for some reason
place where a your living place sits
the plural
what sort of things do you like to eat then Mark?
I am more into fruit, but I will eat certain chicken and turkey. It is coincidental that all I eat is orange food;lol
Watching Iron Chef, and the secret ingredient is pork fat....gahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!
that made me giggle Mark, and only because when youngest son was a baby he would only eat orange baby food and only out a jar. so we made up real food and had to serve it out of a jar!
Champ, i still can't get the ho9.
sorry just brought back a memory or 2
ho 4/6 + si 5/10, mark
ho** + si4
sorry, wandered off when the phone rang
garyandjulie, you are a GENIUS! Not unlike my friend who uses a whole milk container and puts 2% in for her kids!
LOL about the orange food!
Mark -- where you live is a house, but it is also your ho4.
I need the si5, but then I have it.
where the ho4 is placed is a si4
put the two words together for the ho8 and plural for the 9
I am crafty like that. my daughter went through stage of not wanting my food so i used to prepare it while she was at school. Take it to mums and mum would give us our dinner on way home from school lol
I eat a lot of rice-based things, bugs!
the spot. Also you could call it a worksi4
si5 - si + an exam is also called a ***t
i had trouble with the ho9 - kept thinking "stead" for the final part
Crazy what we do to feed our kids sometimes!
I got both, everyone. Thanks guys!
oh, yes, that makes sense too LA!! ((hugs)) how are you
good-o, stid. yourself?
my kids just have to eat what is prepared. Or did, until they got old enough to cook (or defrost) for themselves!
not bad, LA!
i do that now, eat it or go without. If the older 2 want something else they cook for everyone. put them off fast
stid, I reconnected with the high school that I graduated from because it has an alumni email exchange. This morning all kinds of people were reminiscing about the teachers and I was amazed at how often the same teacher's stern look frightened some and was beloved by others. It made me think of you every time you panic you went overboard.
*frustrated mama look* so se 6 (african money) counts but nigiri (a type of sushi) doesn't. I think enable is prejudiced against asian food
that is SO TRUE, bugs!
The frightened ones worked harder to avoid the look and the stronger ones took it as a challenge to do better. so forgive yourself and trust your instincts!
*note to stop panicking when teaching*
I think there is going to be an angry mob with torches outside the Enable offices tonight.
okay, that I can do!
ha, if there hasn't been one by now i think they're safe!
no, I think they keep moving around to avoid finding... like that wikileaks guy.
ha!
That was an interesting story;
hmm i am doing well on every letter except that M
so I am down to 38 and have NO 7s!
they're both plurals
and normal words
got to go, catch you all again soon. have fun xx
bye julie
later julie!
bye julie
The first one is a synonym to comes
ah. so I am missing a couple of normal 6s, too. *looks again*
Bye julie!
*nudge* ar and vi :)
thanks MARK!!!!
okay... now looking for the other one...
thanks Mark
Yw. the other one is vi***** of a disaster.
got them! that was a twisty one
oh, now it is raining REALLY hard. *sigh*
vi?
I will need to wear rainboots and take crutches today.
mark just clued, shirl
Great. I haven't done many clues, and some of them have made me go to PB. Glad I could help.
not the perpetrator, but the person who was harmed, shirlock
Mark, you did a fine job!
eh, the PB isn't bad, there's usually food ;)
Thanks, stid. Great pun, Leslie. *groan*
i saw the clue for the vi, just not getting it yet ...
missing an N... have the opposite of day and plural?
why the crutches stid? Have you reinjured your hip?
I have all three. Which do you need?
or worse......
ne 4, like a hebrew prophet
yes bugs, I did something yesterday I think, but this morning I side-stepped and it was clearly not weight-bearing.
A skin anomaly, something like that.
When there is an assault, there is a perpetrator and a vi...
I could use a cane when out and about, but when it's rainy it can be slippery.
ah! got it now, thx molly
or is that a word for a priest? ne 4...
Stid, you can get a gripper for your cane. A friend of mine has one.
poor stid. I don't even know how you can walk when you have a headache, let alone Babble. Migraines flatten me
I have never had any broken bones, nor a migraine. How do they feel like?
ah thanks
that's a good idea Molly -- I was hoping I wouldn't need it again, actually. But clearly I am just going to have to deal with it.
migraine = light hurts, sound hurts, moving hurts etc.
Well, I took Exedrin today. Need to refill the prescription stuff.... *sigh*
My friend has Rheumatoid Arthritis, so she needs a cane from time to time. And she lives where there is often snow and ice in winter.
and I can just sleep tomorrow if necessary. It's a small migraine fortunately.
i'm trippin on Excedrin too stid. one of those days.
Does anyone parlez le francais here?
the pain from a migraine is so bad it makes me sick to my stomach Mark. Don't ever wish for the experience. I gave birth twice with no pain killers and was not sick so it is a lot worse than that!
hey Good ((gentle hugs and quiet greetings))
Do you take the Excedrin Migraine Stid? I get stress induced migraines from time to time and that's what I take.
je parles only when I can't avoid it, Mark!
aww that's nice...
i second the gentle hugs and quiet greetings...
the last three migraines I have had didn't have the warning aura, so I think being aware of the vision trigger is changing their course and impact.
getting some kind of bug atm... headache..irritated sinues...and exhaustion
k hit 100 will try to finish listless later. bye all
Ques-ce- que tu aimes faire, stid? Bonjour, carlee
Bye Leslie!
oh oh carlee *hands hot lemonade (spiked, of course), tissues, chicken soup, blankies and tea with honey*
umm...hi mark :) je ne parle pas francais
Sounds good enough to me;
j'aime faire babble! (of course)
Carlee, you've been dealing with way too much stress. That shreds your immune system. Sorry you're not feeling well.
Anything else?
oh yummy...i have green tea with ginger and mint atm... and some fresh pineapple ( the acid should cleanse the throat if anything is thinking about taking root there
moi aussi, Mark
I hope it is not the one going around in BC carlee. it keeps coming back and back and back.....
i can count to 100 and that about it...oh..i always remembered the word for grapefruit visualizing a big moose with a grapefruit as a giant pimple on his nose
?
I used to like to read, but right now physical reading is limited to babble and anything I can blow up on the computer so I can see it
lol, stid
my girlfriend has that one bug and i took her all my vitamins last week...
un, deux, trois, dix, onze, quarante, cent!
Again, sounds good to me!
so you gave her vitamins, and she gave you a virus. seems a fair trade! LOL
where abouts are u mark?
What do you mean, carlee?
I THINK SO...i laid down for a short nap..4 1/2 hours later the phone woke me up...and now i want to lop off the head..at the neck
where are you geographically located???
oh carlee, that is the one! I am so sorry
Game on
I am in the dead center of the US
its ok... i have kinda been figuring i would get another bug being as i am stressed to the max
well, I am down to 29 and need to rest my eyes again. back later to finish if I can.
ok..so...u are not in quebec...:)
gentle hugs for stiddy
I am not, so I am sorry.
take care and rest well stid. kiss on the forehead to tuck to you in
*gentle hugs and lovely eggnog and choclits* *poof*
why r u sorry mark?
*Putting a warm fleece blanket over Stid*
Au revoir, stid.
sy8?
Carlee, did you think I was in quebec? Shirlock, it is sy+ vowel +text language for opposite of day+ freezing **e
sy+ g- Dna material with a diff second vowel
sy + 8, 9, t** + a cr**** reviews movies
sorry i just came on here and you were speaking en francais... so my fever bended brain jumped to quebec
Hi all!
I take french, not speak it fluently;
hi car.ee {{hugs}}
Hey car.ee!
i hated french... was dreadful at it...
Oooh! Hugs!!! TY!
got it molly + carlee, thx
It doesn't accept semite, semites, and semitic. Those aren't proper nouns!
green tea with ginger...yummmm
Tea with ginger is good for what ails you Carlee. Hope you get a good night's sleep and feel better tomorrow.
Wandering into chog, and happy to see all my Babble friends. Hello everybody :-)
soodle!
Hey soodle!
Hello Champ, Mark, Carlee, Moll ((((((Hugs)))))) all round
Hi there.... I am looking for lbdawg...any one see her??
we will see... i gave my girlfriend all my neocitron too hi soodles
Hi Soodle!
She was online earlier;ibd, are you here?
Hey Car... didn't see you there!
boo!
hmmm she is somewhere..maybe making din din
Eeek"
I am under a blanket, so I was hidden!
EEK!!!!!
guess I'll work the puzzle.
I am under a blanket, cos I am flipping freezing....
That would be a good idea.
Sorry Mark! didn't mean to frighten you!
its cold here but not super cold
How is your evening with the brood going Soodle? Tree up yet?
56 and sunny here in south Texas!
I must bid everyone au revoir for the night. Car, I was joking. I saw you before. I guess that blanket ain't thick enough! Anyway, goodbye everyone.
bye Mark...
We are used to cold-ish. We are very well used to damp, but this Uber-Cold (minus 10 right now) is just totally freaking us...(well, freaking me!)
Bye Mark.
Bye Mark!
soodle, you'd just have to set me on fire!
byebye mark
Gathering twigs and kindling to ignite Champ.....
thanks soodle!
56 & sunny?..... (wistfully thinking of sunshine. I have vague memories of heat and sun.....)
hairdresser whacked off what hair I had, so it's now so short that I'm freezing all the time. Why she did this in winter is beyond me!
-10 is cold????
Good evening to my fellow babblers! How is everyone?
By the way, congratulations to all the finishers! YAY!
when you breathe through your nose and your nostrils freeze together..that is cold..until then..not cold
Oh Carlee. I know I sound like a wuss, but, for us, minus 10 is unheard of.
I'm sure you know cold, carlee!
Hello Min. Nice to see you.
Min!!!!1 Hello!
Soodle, Canadians define cold by the degree of snot freeze. It's just how they are.
Go on, Carlee..... tell me what temperatures you have experienced.....
you call THAT cold, carlee?
That's a lovely image!
suck it up buttercup :p or..have some tea...one of our local weathermen in winter calls temps like that " cuddle alert" colder the temp..better it is for cuddling
LMAO Moll (actually laughed out loud when I read yours @ 4.53!!)
Baby-making weather!
i have been in temps...worst wasone winter...we went out and bought thick bath towels to hang over the windows to add insulation....was about a stretch of -30 c at night...-25 by day...for about a month....that was crazy cold...no outdoor recess time for a month for the schools..was too cold
<-- would rather not ask about champ's comment.
Sorry...one of those where you come in at the tail end....
throw in winter winds... serious cold..everyone had to plug their cars in at night
Ok. You win, Carlee. I submit graciously!
carlee!!! I know that happens in places in the world, but it's amazing to me!
Good grief!
*Examining the revolving door*
However, I do think if BR were here, he may win with the cold temps.
Carlee, I thought y'all had to plug your cars in all winter.
I know BR's profile says he is Antarctica, but is he really?
champ..what is amazing we have crazy hot summers here too...up to 33 or 35C with killer humidity
no....i have not plugged mine in since that winter at all. my ex's work truck was diesel so he had to plug his in
What part of Canada are you in, Carlee?
BR is in north dakota...and yes..he would win on the "cold" contest
I'm sure they aren't as humid. The humidity is what makes the summers sucky and the winters too. If it gets cold, it's wet-cold, and miserable.
southern ontario..i am 200km west of toronto and about 100 km north of detroit Mi in the US
i am in what is commonly called the banana belt...
Carlee...I have a Canadian friend who just became a citizen. That same week, her husband resigned his job, and took one in Calgary!
My brother lived and worked in Newfoundland for 15 years. He said it was a unique place!
oh god i would shoot him...although not as bad as fort mcmurray...( another 3 hours north of calgary )
Ah, my knowledge of Canadian winter comes from north of where you are Carlee. That must be it.
he'd have fit in well there soodle..they have retained a tinge of the irish accent...they are very laid back ( as there is nothing exciting happening where you are going so you might as well take your time getting there )
Soodle, my husband Dan used to say that Newfies are a unique breed of people.
very friendly...
Right now, he's 2 weeks in Calgary, 2 weeks home. They may eventually move, but not yet. Her whole family is here...
Exactly as my bro described it, Carlee. He said it was a wonderful place to live, despite being the butt of a whole lot of jokes.
calgary is crazy $$$$ right now...likely better off where they are atm.
my nephews were born in calgary
hi all
there a new show from here that is just started being shown in great britain that is set in newfoundland republic of doyle
Every year since he has come back, he has hordes of Newfies coming to visit him in Tipperary where he now lives. I have met a few of them, and they are.....laid back!
Howdy JMC. Get your tree?
my house where i live might be worth 200K there would be upwards of 1mil
hi ther jmc
Hey JMC.
True that! She has a big house with a huge yard, and a comparable home in Calgary is upwards of a million.
with our dollars almost at par..not worth it..if the company is prepared to fly hubby...take it as long as u can...is her hubby with esso? ( imperial oil)
( we have all the same plants here where i live in Ont as there are in calgary)
During the (now deceased) Celtic Tiger here in Ireland, my ex got the real estate agents to value our home. It was valued at €1 million. Doubt if we would get €200,000 now. But that never mattered to me. This is my ho4/6! When I leave here, it will be in a pine box, feet first!
No, United something...I forget. He worked for a company here that was taken over by Halliburton. He wasn't comfortable with the new peeps, so made the move.
United Safety?
Slinking off to PB....
Bad soodle!
not surprise by the leave from haliburton... cut corners at every opportunity ( a friend of mine just retired from a subsidiary of hal) and was ever so glad to be out
dont know that one...
He wasn't there long. apparently he was a bit redundant, and didn't care for that, even for the $. Just an odd deal...and I don't want my friend to go!
just think you could visit her for the stampede
I guess so. Always nice to have a place to visit!
with skype etc...its not as bad as all that
Hows things on the domestic front, Carlee?
So true.
oh....he started to play games this week....was to be expected....waiting to hear of outcome from lawyers meeting this week
thank goodness for the lawyers!
Yik. It ain't easy... :-(
thank goodness for a lawyer who is a friend... and whose daughter hangs with my daughter... :o)
hello to all :)
hiya sadie
Oh, thats good, Carlee. A lawyer who is a friend is always better than a non-friend lawyer. Hello Sadie :-)
hiya Carleekat and Soodlebum
Lawyers are expensive commodities!
and she is the pitbull in town....hense why the games were expected..he will be feeling nervous and PO'd so...will start lashing out
Kick the bas*ard when he's down, Carlee. And, take pleasure from it. (Speaketh the bitter & twisted Soodle!)
carlee, just from the bit I've seen on the chog, you've done a wonderful job of taking the high road.
soodle, she must plan a stealth attack! ;)
no...i am not... i am determined to take the high road... he waants the kids for his bday xmas eve...so be it..he wants them for xmas..and they happy to go..go..have fun...i refuse to yell.. i refuse to rise to the bait...i will not let it be said that i was ever un acommadating..that way when he looks the shit...people will see it for what is is..pure excrement
and really, when you ask, you can easily show how accommodating you were when asked. It's for the best. The day will come when he'll get retribution!
He wants the kids for Christmas Eve AND Christmas? That's not fair.
well xmas eve is his bday
Ahhhhh...but next year, who gets 'em? MOM!
Fine, he gets them Christmas Eve and you get them Christmas. THAT's fair. They're your kids too.
and..honestly...if he wants them xmas day ( he has a bigger family...soooo more activity and some from out of town..they are the kids family )
So what? You get to sit around Christmas Eve and Christmas all by yourself? How do your kids feel about that?
You can switch off from year to year. Next year, YOU get them. It'll be ok.
with me..its me..and my mum...and we both in town...they have uncles coming in from out of town... and really.i am so ok with it...i am not a big lover of the day anyway
i like the preparation...the day itself always a big let down
Sorry Carlee, I just hate to see you being robbed of time with your kids. It's not right.
I hope he is just as considerate of you and time with the kids also!
My little grandson woke up; I've been tied up with feeding him and playing with him; etc. DH is watching him for the moment; but I'll be back later (after my son picks him up). Happy Babbling, All!
and we will extend the holiday for the kids... and .when the kids see how the other half live ( not to be a complete snob but..LOW CLASS idiots ) and then see how we live...( middle class....a little more..refined...) they will start to put the dots together...
that they will :)
Absolutely Carlee. As the kids get older, and more worldly wise, they will be able to compare & contrast.
i rather the kids come to their own conclusions... its healthier... i do not say anything bad about him... i did tell my son what he did the other day..and he is PO'd about that...but... i did not yell..i told it as if i was a court reporter...and he put the dots together himself
( molls i wont be alone...i will have my cat firmly planted on my ass whilst i babble with other who either alone or do not celebrate xmas :) )
I have a friend who's kept her mouth shut for 16 years, but finally blew last month. Her hubby had cheated, etc, and the daughter (who's 20) was saying some things about her wonderful dad. Mom finally let loose!
we are both responsible for this marriage failing... i shoulder alot of the blame...not all by any means...but i will take 50% ... SO.. I will not bad mouth him..my mother on the other hand is ready to rip him several new ones
i did the same thing stayed with a cheater and abuser til i finally lost it ....31 years later ...stupid of me too
Kids are not stupid. Eventually they will see the big picture. It may not be a pretty picture, but when the kids see the actuality.... well...., it brings some things into focus.
no they are not stupid my kids do see the big picture they say they had one parent me...
I think you're doing the right thing. Someone has to be the adult.
Good for your friend Champ. Keeping quiet and accepting unacceptable behavior is not the way to go. At least not in my world.
yep thats right your kids will remember who was that adult too
my ex emotionally abused me for years...and in either self preservation or retaliation....damaged things further...until it was irrepairable...
i damaged things further...I..i lieft out the I
yep verbal and emotional abuse is horrid
I hope that one day he'll become an adult too.
i really dont care...he can go on his merry way...just pay up bub
But it would be nice if one day the relationship was civil. Easier.
my kids are almost grown... once they gone i intend to have nothing to do with him..period
that makes things alot easier on the kids as well as the adults.......unfortunately sometimes its just not possible
thats the way i am now carlee kids are grown i have nothing to do with him its just safer for my mental health
is molls still fuming in the corner cus i wont have the kids for xmas?
I'm not fuming.
i dont like his family....they never treated me well...i was always the snob/bitch...
ok..stewing the :p
sometimes you have to be to survive lol
stewing theN..yeesh...my head hurts..
My husband of 20 years just vamoosed one day (june 2007). Left 3 kids bewildered, confused and terrified. Life has continued (standard of living decreased, but quality of life 100% up.) Me and kids seriously looking forward to Christmas!
Nope, not stewing either. I just don't like to see people I care about treated unfairly. That's just the way I am.
His loss Soodle. I'm sure you've been told more than once that you're better off without him.
molls...what goes around..comes around... and if whilst things are "rough" I am perceived as non..abrasive..works in my favour...
my mum on the phone
MEN!
I agree
not all of us are that bad!
but i have to say i was in an abusive relationship for 3 years ... so i can relate in a sense...
You're right Cos, you're one of the good ones.
True cos! I've been with mine for 26 years, and no one's leaving this deal unless in a pine box.
26 years thats great! its such a shame more couples cant be like that.. my generation marry too quickly
thank you molly :)
Grace of God, I tell you. I married at 21, but knew I was right. At least I can tell mom "Told you so!" now!
thats awesome Champ
LOL cos! Moll, you are not the first person to say that, but, heck.. being a single mom to 3 teenagers has been.... a challenge! Meanwhile ex-husband enjoys the single life offered by the delights of..... guess where? Bangkok. WTF
haha thats good.. we were together for 5 years before we got married.. of course it wasn't legal these 5 years lol
to say the least is a challange sheesh
My parents were engaged for 6 years before they married. But they stayed together till Dad passed last year.
Cos, would you say that being in an abusive relationship makes a person less likely to stand up for what they deserve?
Teenagers are a challenge no matter what. Single-handledly is amazine!
we were together 20 years... oh well..
i love hearing of people that have stayed together for long periods of time happily
We're only happy because he hasn't tried to retire yet! ;)
Less likely Molly for the first few years
after the relationship
but thats just personal experience..
lol champ :)
My parents celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2008. We had a huge party for the occasion. They had a row about my father's tie, just before the start of the party, and didn't speak to each other for the night! After 50 years!!!!
lol champ
lol soodle!
oh sheesh over a tie no less
Yeah, I would guess it's hard to hear the voice of your own heart when someone is constantly berating you. Glad you're in a better place now Cos. Tell Ryan I said thanks for being good to my friend.
thats funny
I will. Thank you :)
I believe it! no one can annoy you more than the one you're with all the time.
it is hard molls... i am now trying to figure out..what i like...cus i dont know..what i like..i do know..no matter where i live next i will have some type of fireplace..be it real..gas.or electric
My dad's choice of tie didn't meet with my mother's approval. Stony silence ensued!
good carlee.. build on that!
what was the phrase yesterday molls..unlovely something or other
Inglorious Bast*rds???
and i like the colour red in my home...with green..i like the combination ( deep dark red with blue undertones with cool silvery sage green....and i like whites... )
FW by the way...
*~*~*POMPOM TOSS*~*~*for cos....woot woot
That was Gran Mere Carlee. I think she said she was thinking of doing unlovely things to someone.
GREAT!
i wanted to ask for clues many times but didnt wanna interupt :) so in a way im proud i didnt.. i was able to finish without clues :)
Echoes Carlees's pompom toss for Cos!!!!
We're proud too!

Have fun Cos. Remember where your wallet and atm card are!!!
Cos.. enjoy the party.... but be sure you know where your wallet is!
Snap Soodle.
Snap Moll!!! LOL
i detect that i missed a good story about a wallet somewhere
Great Irish minds.
OMG, Moll....Serendipity!
Just heard btw Dont ask Dont tell has been repealed! Senate voted to repeal.
lol im not taking my wallet this time
I don't get that whole thing.
Our Cos went to a buy one get five free drink night at a bar one night. He had some trouble locating his effects the next morning.
woohoo i love when i get the big words all by myself lol
yeap...that was a couple hours ago cos
Cos, it's about damn time on that.
lol and i cancelled my debit cards.... then i find it 3 days later :P
Soodle drooling at the very thought of a buy one, get 5 free event...........
oh dear...cos... be good tonight... that is all i am going to say
ohhhh that is my kind of shopping
cos, once my son lost his wallet, and 6 months later a cleaning lady found it DEEP in the couch, almost dropped to the floor!
theres another event like that tonight... im excited! talk to you all :)
lol champ... im only taking cash this time
Go easy Cos, and enjoy!
that's a plan!
bye!
have fun cosdem
Carlee, getting back to what you said earlier, I will mis-quote The Little Prince. You are responsible for your rose. That is to say, be the guiding force in your life and hear the music of your heart.
I like that Molly
i am trying molls....the tinder is a bit damp... so i am sparking away..not getting far yet...but trying...
Heading off to bed now. Carlee, if you are still there (((((Hugs))))) thinking about you, my friend. Moll, Sadie, Champ, and assorted lurkers, I wish you all a very good night
nite Soodle sleep well
nite nite soodle....sleep warm....
Bye carlee! Right behind you. Dinner with mom and my bro. Have a lovely evening all!
enjoy Champ
Sparkly sweet dreams to Soodle.
bye bye champ...
its all about the sparkles this time of year :)
so what are your plans tongiht molls?
Probably early bed and a movie. I'm worn out from all the Christmas hoo-hah. And tomorrow boy-o and I are making a large batch of Christmas Rice Krispie treats for his work friends.
Eh toi?
nice...i should have wrapped pressies today but fell asleep...maybe tomorrow iw illget that done...i am debating an online jigsaw puzzle or the movie love actually with a bowl of popcorn
hmm move and a bowl of popcorn sounds good
Whenever I do a lot of sleeping one day, I'm revved up the next day. Listen to your body and act accordingly.
my body says "off with the head"
well ok sometimes do not listen to your body
Last time I had a bad cold, I got some of that saline nasal spray. It worked really well and gave me lots of relief.
it is good ive used that also
that and my standby chicken noodle soup and tea lol
me to, but I use the afrin for the night. I cant sleep if my nose is stuffed
that is what the doc told me
is ho8 off the ho5?
It is Sue.
nm got it
i have some home made chocken soup....debating tonight..or tomorow wheni really feel like crap
go for both, live it up carlee
Jewish penicilin is great anytime for anything
i dont have enough for both and its super yummy home made
1/2 with buttered toast?
I thought you didn't like chicken soup Carlee.
or cheese toast
i am making a big batch tomorrow
i'll take some, can you ship it?
yeppers
lol
i have been battling the same cold for four weeks now and determined to get rid of it
concord NC
There is actually a web site called grandmaschickensoup.com that ships chicken soup. A bunch of folks from this place sent some to Jellen when Tim passed.
oh i bet thats good
Sadie, I had that bitch of a four week cold in October. Sending healing thoughts your way.
ty ty
that was so sweet
this is started from infected sinuses from allergies
that is what I get
and spread all through ears throat and lungs
be carefull, i got totally dehydrated due to the amount of sinus meds I took
yea nasty huh sue lol
you need to get a z-pack
Oy Sadie. You need to be slathered with Vicks and wrapped in steamy towels.
molly, i think I am loving you
well only sinus med im taking is mucinex and i drink alot all day long
yep i use the vicks
Whiskey?
i need to get the saline solution though that is realy the best for sinuses
you and sadie make a great jewish grandmother
well id love to but take too many meds
my father in law used to make me a cough syrup with honey lemon and whiskey
good stuff lol
Actually, flooding your system with water when you're sick aids recovery. There is a reason for that "drink plenty of fluids" advice. Your body is using all the liquid you take in to manufacture mucous. (Sorry, gross, but true)
oh, well you should try the afrin at night and I stand in the hot shower with my head tilted to the water and let it run into one nostral and out the other, like those pots they sell
yes it does
Neti Shower.
ohhh at night i have nasonex
script from dr
thats it molly
i saw those Molly i should use something like that
i have made a couople trips to wally world for meds and keep forgetting the saline solution
if you do that after you get rid of this infection, it will get the allergents out of your nose before they can get you sick
I do it now each time i take a shower
yea my system is run down from surgery this summer and so its lasting longer then it should
its a good idea
teas have been helping alot too ive alot of different flavors and they seem to help
I claimed your health with God, so you will be feeling better soon
I do need a clue for ho5, any help?
nm
got it
ty Sue by Gods grace i have gotten through alot this summer :)
yes, i feel it everyday.
yep me too
Ive gone though a great deal since my decision to split finally with ex and God has gotten me through it :)
I've been reading about foods that are immunity boosters. I've had a rough year (three deaths of those close to me, one being my husband). I've also read that regular yoga and meditation help boost immunity.
I did 5 yrs ago, and when I couldnt see Him, He saw me.
Oh, and you two are right. Regular communication with the Great Spirit has gotten me through some very tough times.
and He gave me a wonderful Man.
he is THAT guy that everyone else had
right now frankly im happy to be on my own i had so many years of abuse that Im just fine on my own for the first time in my life :) and I thank God for that
and now I have the most wonderful, stubburn man who CHERISHES me
awww thts great sue :)
Being cherished is a beautiful thing. Good for you Sue. Aren't you getting married soon?
You are right sadie. there is a great class churches offer and it is on the web also. Divorce Care Class, it helped me even when I thought I was doing fine
I think we are going to wait another couple of years. Till his 16 yr old is 18 and finished with school. They live 40min away and he doesnt want to change schools. As for me, If we are going to wait, I am going to go for my BA.
well i have been in therapy with a wonderful lady for a couple years now that helps and i have my kids. But i didnt have the cherished that others had and frankly get to figureing its not meant for me or something so i dont look for it if that makes sense
good for you sue good luck with the ba
BA
that is NOT true. Your X was and ass
Sorry Sue. I must have you confused with another Sue who was here a while back talking about being on a diet to fit into her wedding dress.
Sadie, we are all meant to be cherished. It starts with cherishing yourself and radiates out from there.
Mine touched me every 3-5 months. I thought I was the most ugly thing in the world. He made me feel like crap. He married me and had children so he could tell all his alcoholic buddied he got married and had kids.
im not sure why mine got married i was stupid enough though to believe its true
I am the one Molly, we just decided to wait. Heck, I want to spend the rest of my life with him, why not wait a few years? this way I get the financial help to go to school and sex on the weekends
I was so stupid too sadie, or at least I thought I was.
and felt like the brunt of a joke when I found out all the crap he was doing
Loving someone is never stupid.
but God has the last laugh all the time. He will take care of him as long as I stay true to Him
yea it was stupid on my part i should of known he wasnt good i berate myself for that all the time im not a stupid woman although i must admit to gettin a thrill when i get words where with out clues lol
yes that is right sue and how i feel
Ive got a roof over my head now and still have good friends in real life and on the net im content
Sadie, quit berating yourself. It serves no purpose. (((Sadie)))
ty Molly and im not meaning too, I can't be all bad God loves me still :)
but everyone has something about themselves thats just not all that bright and mine is marrying my ex i know people im good with them i should o known better lol
One trick I use is that every time I have a negative thought, I have to counter it with two positives.
you sure youre not my therapist lol
There have been times when I've thought love was a form of insanity.
is a form
I agree with that :)
although in alot of cases its a very good insanity
i have friends that have been together for along time several couples and i love that , its nice to know there is a good end to marriage :)
a long
er hmm not good end good solution is better
The couples that I know who have remained together for a long time, have done so because they remain friends with each other.
exactly
you have to be friends before you can be in love
ne
friendship makes a wonderful base for a good marriage

Min!!!! Are you speaking about hos to Gran Mere? Shame. : P
Oops! I mean stidgmere!
oh i get real proud of myself when i get them right lol
We were talking ho words MollyL. We pronounce our words with all inflections.
Stidmama is out and about listening to the concert. We went to the matinee.
Just joking Gran Mere, how was your day? And how is Gran Pere's toe?
Toe is improved! Shoe was worn for the show and we were able to go to the market after without damaging the TOE.
Ah bien! I'm sure he's glad to be back in a shoe and out and about.

Good for you lovewords!! Nice going with the grid WHoo Whoo and stuff.
wow-that's great! do you have a lot of shopping left to do?
wow good shopping
I have had to cut WAY back on shopping because my husband is out of work. We are not even giving each other presents.I would rather buy for family members
Still have to get for 3 more people and then I am done
I got a pair of Deerfoam slippers for abour $1.50 after coupons today
I go shopping for my family; hubby shops for his family
that's nice to have help with the shopping
We are also being frugal this year. We try to give gifts that involve going to an event. A show or concert here in town is a fun thing. The boys like skiing but that is way out of my league this year.
We got lots of nieces & nephews between the 2 of us.
that's a nice idea stid, less materialistic
well I need to get some wrapping done but does anyone need any clues befoe I go?

Goodbye LuVWordGames!I'll see you tomorrow maybe
Oh, you go wrap and think of us. Thanks for the visiting.

We used to get Chinese music on the radio in Shanghai (1938) -- Ouch!
hi jill :-)
night night, TO
and dfm... no Chinese music in my collection, as yet :-)
Hi all.
yummy looking brandy snaps, Jill :-)
hi jilli!
What we heard then was high-pitched, nasal, and ear-splitting singing. Mostly we listened to XMHA, just like any US station. Ella singing "A tisket, a tasket..." which I learned in the American accent I didn't have then.
thanks, diane (re the brandy snaps)
dfm -- has Chinese music improved to our Western ears since then?
listening to Ella sing that very song right now, Jill :-)
:o/ I was thinking more about music for the qin, guzhang, peipa, erhu, or those other instruments...
wow, diane!
she was truckin' on down the avenue.... la la la
dfm, I suppose they were being played then but I was only 11.
any clues for ev5/18?
155 Ella songs on my computer ... My dad loved her voice, especially her young voice !

YAY sadie!!!
That's one that I've saved in my images too... very cute !
I love the snow flake one Diane!
I am about to change mine.
oh, just got your clue for ev5, daind -- ty!
Hi all. Can't sleep so came here to see who's around. Did you get the ev5, Jillibus?
yes, ty jac.
adorable icon, jac!
sorry.... didn't know if you'd gotten it or not... was just about to add "onto the street with ya" !!
Sorry -- I wandered off for a minute -- had to refresh my preprandial.
off to bed for me, no sleep issues here...
Thanks, jilli. I nicked it from a Christmas card magazine a couple of years ago.
night red -- pleasant dreams.
gnight Red
hi Jacula
night, red
'Night red.
Gosh! I haven't had brandy snaps for years, jilli. Maybe I'll make some.
Takes a while, jac! I haven't done them for years either.
do you like my icon jilli
Actually, that's not such a good idea. I have a wisdom tooth with a missing filling at present, so it's just a shell. Can't get a dentist's appointment. Don't want pain for Christmas.
I LOVE your icon, ruru -- prrryowrrrr
ruru - I have a photo of our cat somewhere wearing a Santa hat.
The expression on his face is just like the one in your icon.
you can lose fingers doing stuff like that jac
He was sitting on Other Half's Mum's chest at the time. LOL
lol
I got rid of wisdom teeth years ago which accounts for a lot, probably.
Hello Jacula!I LOVE your icon! Are those Cavalier King Charles Spaniels? I have one of those. A Blenheim one.
It's funny really how you can dress dogs up but cats will rarely stand for such indignity.
Hi Min. Yes, they are.
hi Min :-)
jillibus - no wisdom teeth? Does that mean you are no longer wise?:-)
Hi dianedecoder! How are you? Did you finish the grid
Hi min -- you know how I like Cavaliers...if I could have had a second breed other than my dear DAnes, it would have been Cavaliers.
Heyas kids ..
Hi torg -- long time!
hi, torgone
Hello torgone! How are you doing?Welcome to the grid
Has everyone here finished? I have 34 to go -- had no time today.
They are very sweet dogs. Not madcap like cocker spaniels (whose skulls are too narrow) or even Springers, who are just too exuberant.
I've finished. I can clue, if you need.
Hi Torg.
arise
ow! sorry... are there christmas cookies in the pb?
Jac, I don't know how you finish so fast, minus lists or anything.
Are you about to knight one of us Dorens? LOL
Hello jillibus! Cavaliers are the BEST! Cannot believe I did not know about breed until now.I've been missing out. This will be the only kind of dog I will EVER have.
hehe dorens ;-)
jilli - just years of doing crosswords and then grids, I guess.
Min -- you know Sprite has a Cavalier, don't you? A Ruby called Terra.
Yes, I have seen pictures of Sprite's dog. Very cute!
In england 25 years ago, walking along some country lane in the cotswalds and there was this woman walking five or six of them.. had never seen them before, and i just fell in love then
E's Eliminated! 3 left
You'd be lucky to walk along a country lane in The Cotswolds now, Dorens. You'd get mown down by tourists' 4x4s.:-(
Hello...how is the grid?
that is so sad jac... it was such a wonderful memory
Hello Jellen! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid!
and went to some church bazaar and bought a lovely hand knit turquoise mohair sweater that i actually wore last week (it received compliments)
It's still nice there, Dorens, but very tourist busy in the mor popular places. Many coachloads arrive.

Hi all. Just trying to finish up.
Well done, Min. *~*~*~*~*~*~*
I'll be here off and on for the rest of the night to clue
hi Jellen :-)
Hi wht.
gosh, we were there in september and it was empty, which was quite nice. stayed at lygon arms which reeked of history and just loved it
hi wht
Hello wht! How are you doing? Welcome to the puzzle!
Hooray for Min!!!
Can I get a clue for the sy8?
Hi, wht
Dorens - you were lucky then. The Lygon Arms is v. popular.
okay....here's one for you Min.... I want to finish and join hubby in the living room ...... se 6/18 please
sy 8/55 is sy plus ti4/4 word reversed plus beginning of frozen water wht.
I'm needing those two as well wht.... sy 7 & 8
Wow -- I leave for a couple of minutes and the whole word arrives, and Min finishes!!! YAY MIN!
sy8 is a geology word. sy+ vowel+ 'not day' sort of word.
jac, i remember eating in this restaurant that I could just picture back in the 16th century... fantastic
*whole world*
se6/18 is beginning of government branch plus vowel plus **me to make the doughnuts dianedecoder.
ty for the sy words
Hello DR1965!How are you doing? Welcome to the grid
ty Min.
yw
Dorens - next time you are in the UK try to go to Warwick Castle for one of their Mediaeval Banquets. Make sure you dress in costume for the occasion.
Why do I always do that? I say Heya and then I get distracted by shiny things ..
Torg - maybe you're a magpie?
Must go and get a lateish supper before I have too many vodkas -- ttfn -- back asap! *semi-poof*

*image of Jilli staggering off in search of food now*
Hi ( (Jellen))

Look forward to meeting you, Dorens.
thanks for the se 6/18 min !
>-P (raspberry) at jac.
you, ata, haz, fm. almost worth the airfare!
se 5/10 add a vowel to the se 4/4
se5/10 = to grab forcibly. Usually spelled with a z as the penultimate letter.
I am well DR1965. I finished the grid not too long ago.
Fireworks
Goodbye jillibus! I will see you tomorrow in the chog!
Dorens - of course we're worth the airfare! LOL
Congratulations wht on your fireworks! Good for you
congrats to Wht, MIn and the other finsihers
I was going around the circle the wrong way to se the se5 from the se4.
yay wht and min!
See, I told you Jilli had had too many preprandials. She's blowing raspberries now! How undignified. *grins*
Congrats, wht!
Well done wht.
hah! jilli being undignified?
Yup!;-)
I can talk about her while she's busy in the kitchen. LOL
sure you can, she'll never know
Does anyone need any more clues now, or have we all finished?
Dorens - of course she won't. She'll never read back on the chog.
no, course not. who ever does?
Thanks for the clues. I am off to bed now. Happy Babbling.
nite wht. jac i will take a clue for either of the sevens, please
Well, I do if I'm told there's something worth reading. Otherwise, no.
same here... thanks for help on the last few words !! I'm off to spend some time with hubby !
vi7 is the plural of the vi6 before it. Accidents have vi7s, so do muggings.
You can be a vi6 of circumstance.
lovely, i had neither, thanks
ar7 is the verb form of the ar6 before it. When you get there, you ar6.
End of journey.
fantastic... down to three now
Goodbye wht! I will see you tomorrow in the chat log!
Go Dorens go!
go Dorens
one
done! last word a very strange mo6
congrats Dorens
The ho8 and 9 were the words that gave me the most trouble.
must admit i was on earlier when someone threw out a clue for them, hadn't even realized there was an 8/9 combo so I was lucky there
Old plural Greek word for The Fates, Dorens.
Hooray for Dorens!
*~~*~*~*~*~* for Dorens!
Evening all. May I please have a clue for ci6-33? Thanks
Hi gap.
Hi there, Jacula.
Good citizenship, gap.
the belief thereof
Starts like the smelly cat-like creature word before it and ends like hol***, or euphem***.
Thanks much, Jacula.
Somebody here has a huge icon which is making the chog chug -- think it's you, dorens. Please scroll down in my profile to see how to resize it.
Jellen - how's life treating you now?
jilli - no problems on my chog and I checked Dorens' icon, it seems okay.
ACtually _ i think it is mine that is too big- I will check it
Life is going well, thanks!
sorry if it's me, but i'm signing off now anyway. see y'all tomorrow. happy babbles
DR1965 has a huge icon. Maybe that's the one?
Sorry -- not dorens -- it's DR1965
G'night, Dorens
I've done it myself when using pics taken off Beloved's camera and forgetting to downsize them.
ci4-5 the 1st is my very last word, please....thanks
'Night Dorens.
'Night Dorens.
Yes, jac -- it's DR's.
Italian goodbye.
And great to see you, Jellen
Sorry, make that ci5-12 the 1st....dog was trying to crawl into my lap. Thanks
I always miss that %#@*& Italian goodbye.
Thanks, jilli...I've been too busy to Babble lately!
And now I really must leave for a while :-)
should be better now- I got rid of it
Busy having a good time, I hope, Jellen!
'Bye for now, jilli.
Cute, DR -- but why not just resize the other one?
gap - cloud type, not ending in 'us'.
I've hired someone to help me organize my inventory for auction...we've been working pretty full days for the past two weeks...and before that, I was on jury duty...
ttfn, all!
I will resize it and put it back up later.... limited ti4 right now
Thanks so much, Jacula. That is fireworks. See y'all at the flip. Thanks for all the help.
Gratis, peach!
Er, Grats!
Well, I've been checking outside and waiting to see if the miracle will happen that Beloved told his Mum would have to if we were to get to their house for Sunday lunch later. It's not happening, so just as well I asked him to get a chicken from the supermarket at the end of his journey home from work through the snow. The journey normally takes 30 mins but was 3 and a half hours long this time.
Congratulations gapeach1066 on fireworks! Hooray!
Well done gap!
Bbye gapeach1066! I will see you tomorrow in the log!
I do hope the roads are sorted out by Wednesday when Beloved has to take his daughter up North to stay with her grandparents. On Thursday, we are supposed to be going down South to Devon for a romantic Christmas and my son, who is in Munich at present, is supposed to by flying to The Netherlands to spend Christmas with his g/f.
help with the se6 please?
My son and daughter set off for Munich for the Christmas market at 7.15am on Friday morning. They had a 2 hour delay at Birmingham airport, then a 10 hour delay in Brussels, 3 hours of which were spent standing in a queue. When they finally reached Munich at a quarter to midnight, both my son's and my Ex-Hubs luggage had been lost. What a nightmare!
se6 = se + hair louse + personal pronoun.
ty Jacula
y/w DR.
Son, daughter, ex-Hub and his new wife are supposed to be coming home on Monday. Will they be able to?
I should have said '2nd wife' not new wife. I think they've been married for about a decade now.
I'm talking to myself, aren't I? LOL. Nothing new!
Im here- Im focuse on the grid though
Same here...
Oh, okay. Understandable.
IT does sound like a nightmare though
Here in San Diego we are having rain.... they say for a week
Oh well, my daughter, whose luggage wasnt lost, seemed to be trying to take it all in her stride. Mind you, she does have a leg cuff tattoo of 'The Nightmare Before Christmas'.
Having said that, she's been travelling the world a lot lately.
Maybe Jack was protecting her
Rain is wet, snow is a bloody nuisance (if you have to be somewhere or get to somewhere).
Dr - He probably was. She designed the tattoo herself.
very true
She told me of her plan for her design for a tattoo on her back a couple of days ago. I hate her mucking up her lovely skin with tattoos and piercings but there's no point in falling out with her over it because she's still the same person and my daughter whatever. Beloved has had to deal with this now since his daughter hit 16 and had her lip pierced today.
He was so cross with her when she told him of her plans, but I had to stand up for her because it's what kids do now and, whatever she adorns herself with, she's still his daughter.
Hi
She is lucky to have you for a Mom!
is the ho 8 a compound word?
Hi piano.
yes Mel
mel - yes it is, as is the plural of it 9.
crait
oops
DR - I'm just her stepmum. Don't get me started on what her real Mum is like.
ok sorry
got them thank you
Or did you mean my daughter? The one with the leg cuff tattoo etc? LOL
If you meant MY daughter, well, that's just what Mums do.
I think I did mean your daughter
I wanted to get a small tattoo on my ankle and my hubby said I could do that with my next husband
DR - no need to apologise in either case.
DR - LOL. Love it! That's probably what I'd say to Beloved, should he ever want a tattoo.
Mind you, he's far too hairy for a tattoo. He also has sensitive skin.
sy 8 please
LOL - I love that
mel - sy + vowel + head louse + first 2 letters of a net picture for a si4 such as this.
It's a geology word.
wonderful clue got it thank you
y/w, Mel.
aloo allo! I have 62 left , but first must take Joey for his walk...bbs...
Hi Pav. I'll probably be back in bed by the time ypu get back.
*you
In fact, 10 more mins and then I will be climbing the wooden hill to Bedfordshire again. So, if you need a clue ask now.
help with the mo's please?
mo5/12 = mo Stewart - British black newsreader.
looking DR I dont have them either
mo6 = the Greek plural for The Fates.
Or, for mo5.12, try mo + Irish Terrorist organization that bombed Britain.
Add a personal pronoun at the end of the 5 for the mo6.
ty got them both
thank you got them
y/w both very welcome.

Clue for the ho 8, please?
Stupid compound word, Jellen. Where you live + building si4.
9 is the plural.
Thanks, Jac...
Those words were nearly my nemesis this grid.
Off to bed again now. Be well and have a good Christmas if I don't see you before the day. xx
