I changed my icon. I think
nope
nice looking group m9
so you can see them flosey?
hoping so volley
who are those gorgeous guys, m9?
jill -- my opinion on netbooks like the asus or hp minibooks is that for older people like us they do NOT replace laptops (unless you have an external monitor) -- the screen is just too small to be comfortable viewing for long-term
hey dart
weird.. now I can see them here but not if I click on my icon..LOL
is one your hubby, m9?
it's usually the other way around.
hey stid!!
nice selection, m9!!!

enjoy it now, with the new build there will be very little pb visits
why is that
well by the way the still shots are looking it will have a built in licketys and a expert

our Babblemate littlebit just beat cancer last year
yaa for lilbit!
she had surgery for cancerous tumor in her small intestine in June, but by October she was able to walk in the Race for the Cure with me
June 2009, that is
it is amazing how far medicine has advanced in the treatment of cancer the last 30 years or so,if i would of got my seminoma in 1970,it then carried a 90% mortality rate
lilbit rocks;)
so do you, cwossy :) eh?
i did a 10 k walk/run for cancer 2 years ago
yippe!

morning babblers xxx
Morning Frog. :-)
morning frog,soodles
Hello Cross :-)
Never fails to amaze me how, in a grid of 105 words, I can find 862 non existant words, and very few actual ones....
lol
my first babble wall was just 33 words in,now at 38 lol
Good morning Babble buddies! I wanted to sleep til 8 but awoke at 6:20, so here I am.
Crossy, why are you awake so early?
Where did everyone go? I bet Crossy is making one of his huge breakfasts.
Morning Scrabs.
Hi Molly! Another early awakener, I see.
I have to get up early during the week. So I'm sort of programed for early rising.
Me too--typically 6am. But I stayed up til midnight and hoped to sleep til 8.
hello friends.
Mornin' Trif.
Maybe a nap later Scrabs, to even things out.
Hi Trif! I know you are up early with Indy.
LOL scrabbler, that is exactly it! No snooze button on that little guy
I rarely nap, unless sick or really exhausted. I will XC-ski later and that will revive me.
if he was a baby patient of yours, you would be calling the NEJM - he gained 14 pounds in three weeks!
Wow! Well, babies double their birth wt by 5 mo and triple it at 12 mo.
Is he overpowering you on the leash?
not my babies! none of them ever made it to even double digits on that cursed scale. But their feet reach the ground, so it's all good
hmmmm- so far he is okay, a pretty soft lead, but he doesn't like the lead much, and often tries to back out of his collar. The vet says not to stress, he is still very, very young
Trif, what did you mean with that double digit comment?
Two of my friends have had Lab pups in the last 2 yrs, so I have seen Obie + Lily grow, learn tricks, be defiant, whimper during the night, etc.
morning molly! What I mean is that when I would take my kids to the pediatrician and he would weigh and measure them, they were also 7%, 4%, etc. on the scale of what kids should be.
Oh, percentiles on the growth charts. DNA cannot be changed. These days we see obesity beginning in infants!
it was always so irritating, as I really didn't care where they fell on the scale, as they were grand, healthy, happy children. But OH how the moms compete with that one! "He is in the 99th percentile for height!" "she is in the 78 percentile for weight!"
That makes me crazy too! We want to see consistent growth, following the shape of the curve, but people think bigger = healthier and stronger.
And, of course, fathers want big boys.
It made me snarky. "OH, 99 percentile for height at only 5 months! Has Harvard started recruiting yet?"
We are just setting up an obesity management program with a nutritionist.
Here's another maddening thing: when parents demonstrate their kids' knowledge. e.g. a 5 yr old that knows all of the state capitols yet she is a surly brat. Character + good manners trump GPA, in my mind.
I love the parents that take their less than one year olds to Disney. "and how did they find Peter? Different from the book?" God help us all
I agree! Why bring an infant or toddler there?
so you can brag to your friends about how many times you have taken them, of course! Because taking your kids to disney apparently = great parent
Hi Trif, Scrabbs, Moll, & assorted lurkers. :-)
Even better is for a child to miss a week of school for a field trip to Disney.
soodle! how wonderful!
Hi Soodlebum
Hows things with everybody?
all quiet on the eastern front, soodle. How's you?
Oh now I get it Trif. My kids were on the other side of that spectrum, but I never thought to brag about it. They just started out big and stayed that way.
I have just inspected the puppy's basket. I found 2 x pairs of panties (mine), 3 socks, (odd), 2 shoes (also odd), 2 potatos, an onion , a hair brush and an empty potato chip packet!
My tea is done brewing. Anybody want some?
lololol
All three of them are over six feet as men.
Hahaha, Soodle. That is funny!
is it decaf, scrabbler?
wow, molly, that is a LOT of man to feed!
I'll have a cuppa, Scrabbs, please - Milk, no sugar!
I can upload some of the bagels I made on Thursday, if anyone would enjoy?
Like I said, they started out big. When I was pregnant with my second son, the doctor guessed he would be smaller than my first. Birth weight for son number two was 11 pounds.
Oh, bagels. Om nom nom....
on the plus side, molly, it sounds like you have lots of help for lifting heavy things, cleaning out gutters, etc.
Not decaf. Orange pekoe/black tea.
11 POUNDS? please say you had a caesarean, please say you had a caesarean.....
You made bagels?
No cesarean and I can still walk and perform my womanly functions (very well).
yes scrabbler. crossy and I were discussing it the other day, and I wish he was still here, as I wanted to thank him for his suggestions
I BOW to you, Molly.
back to find my last 5
hello peeps!
can you laugh without "incident?"
My son was 6 pounds born. He was the smallest in his class all thru school, then at age 16, he grew and grew and grew - to the extent he has stretch marks on his back. He is now 6ft 4!
yikes molly
morning lilmonkey!
Hi Lil :-)
all i can say is kegel kegel kegel
my kids are all still teeny. primo is going on 18, and has yet to weigh 120 pounds.
Hi lil*monkey!
we just aren't big people
A friend of mine has a brother who was premature. I think he weight one pound at birth. He currently goes about 220 and is six foot four.
I feel certain mr hate is descended from leprechauns, though they would most likely disavow that
As for the 11 pound baby, I won't get into all the crude things that have been said about that in regards to my "abilities".
hi all! i was 8 1/2 pounds at birth and i was quite the chubbette for the first 2 years of life
My little bro was 9-15 at birth, my mother's 4th and last. He is 6 ft 8 in as an adult and wears a size 16 shoe.
LOL Trif..... you should have got your mitts on his crock of gold!
oh, that's mean, molly! I won't say anything mean, EVER.
I've been a chubbette since puberty.
that's well and truly hidden, soodle. biting tongue to avoid making joke about "crack" of gold.....
refresh to see my icon pic of a young chubbette lil*monkey
LOL Trif.
Hi everyone!
Hello Brookie. Lovely to see you :-)
monkey what a delightful photo! you were absolutely adorable!
You too! I've been lurking lately.
HA! oh thanks, Trifi... thumb in mouth constantly
so what's new, Brookie?
well, my kids are the size they are, and there isn't much I can do about it now, but I love them like crazy anyway. they were all about 8 pounds at birth, they just didn't grow much later. but they are great kids.
Nice photo, lil!
Aw Lil! What a cute picture. I wouldn't call that chubby though.
Aw, diddums, Lil. How cute!
Nothing much, lil. Just working and doing the mom thing. How about you?
oh thanks Molly :)
I went to see True Grit last night, it's terrible!
Well said, Trif!
oh, and scrabbler - to answer your comment about DNA earlier - my mom used to laugh up her sleeves at her patients who had tons of plastic surgery, the mom and the dad, and then had the most horse-faced, crooked nosed kids in the world. Plastic surgery does NAUGHT to fix dna!
Okay, fill me in. What's True Grit?
it's a new movie with Matt Damon and Jeff Bridges
that's a surprise, monkey, as the reviews have been great, particularly regarding the young actress
A re-make of an old John Wayne movie Brookie.
the young actress is great, but overall a terrible movie
Normally Matt Damon picks good movies to be in. Not so much for Jeff Bridges.
I have no interest in westerns.
howdy all new arrivals;)
Crossy....
Westerns are camp...
the original True Grit had John Wayne, Glen Campbell and Dennis Hopper
crossy, there you are! many, many thanks for the bagel advice the other day. Really branched out and got adventurous. ended up making cinnamon raisin, onion, poppy seed, and sesame seed. Thank you so much for the tips!
also Robert Duvall
Was the original a good film?
um YES
:)) np at all trif:))
I really do appreciate it, and so do the kids, who were thrilled
I loved the original....
it's considered a classic, Brookie
How are you doing, NB?
Hi Brooke, Crossy, NB!
Hi Scrabbs!
howdy scrabbs:)
good morning NB,how goes the recovery?
nancy boy! didn't see you sneak in! how are things?
anyone have the in7 ?
and please nb,get rid of that dismal prose in your profile and smile;)
oh, crossy, we are going to disagree there! I loooooove that poem!
I am stuck with 52 to go.
it is like a funeral dirge,i am sorry:/
Not dismal...I love Larkin. Amuses me because the BBC still refuses to say "the eff word" when they read it on TV.
nancy, does the bbc still have that program where they have people read out letters that viewers have sent in?
I agree with the message in NB's poem, and that's why I don't have children :)
the buck stops here
I read the poem after I had kids, sorry!
only thing missing is your dead dog rover and some extremely rare disease
I think the message is that we should all adopt a little kitten instead, like in the pic.
kids are a parents revenge and i am doing pennance lol
If I had parents like NB has described to us, that would be my anthem too!
Truesay, Brookie - he's my baby!
they have treated the lad badly indeed
How old is kitty?
I chose to have no kids--didn't want to mess them up which is what my experience was.
I need help with the U please....
up + look at the stars, Trifi
I'm very glad I had kids. It seems I know absolutely nothing and they know everything.
me too , Scrabs
thank you lil monkey!
yw trifi... and past tense that word
I am glad I had kids too. And I would adopt Nancy at the first opportunity.
Thanks for the clue!
we're not entirely sure, since he was a rescue. would guess coming up to a year now! he is learning to 'stalk'...follows your ankles and then bolts when you look at him :P
how adorable, nancy! what's his name?
Aw, how cute! I used to have a cat who thought he was a dog... he was my fave cat.
i am glad we had a child.when growing up my da was very bigoted, racist, would invoke capital punishment for same sex couples if he could, racial slurs, you name it.i chose to be different and i have passed my thoughts on to my son and now he does not judge by race, creed, colour or sex...so i have changed my part of the world just a little bit and am glad we have our son
yay found the in7
TY for up6 clue.
well said, crossy!
You are a good man and father, Crossy.
Clue Monkey?
aww shucks...
but you have just the one child? I thought you had a daughter as well?
Crossy, I think some people like you are able to break the trend, and unfortunately some others continue on the same path as their predecessors.
medicine for diabetics, scrabbler
could someone else please ask nancy what the name of his kitten is, so he will answer them?
My kids are hilarious. They think they invented the world..... sex, alcohol, how to drive etc etc.
think he said the name was trusay
Aha, Monkey--a very twisty word.
I am sure we were like that once too, soodle, and drove our parents equally crazy
and on that note, soodlebum, MY parents act like they invented the world, and any idea I have is stupid and ridiculous and could not be valid
I have been a surrogate mother for my 3 nephews. Eldest is almost 23 and has lived with me since 16.
lol soodles,my kid comes home every day with some computer tid bit and i smile and tell him i was pounding away on a commadoe 64 when you were nothing but a gleam in yer daddys eye lol
*sigh* these meds make my hands shake and I really can't type that quickly. His name is Ginge. Inventive I know.
But, you see, Trif, I actually DID invent sex!!!
And, of course, I have had many kids of the rabbit variety!
we need to have a whip round to send nancy's and monkey's parents to parenting classes
thanks, trifi :)
I have to say, I was really, really lucky to have good parents. When I hear other people's stories, I truly count my blessings.
Ditto, Brookie. Bless them!
Scrabbs, what an amazing thing to do for another person! Nothing but admiration for you for that.
crossy, you just have one boy?
time for my morning jog... see everyone later
See you later, lil!
jog for me while you are up, please monkey? thanks!
good parents are a godsend and good children are divine and each are a blessing to each other
Bye Lil.
yup just the one boy,he is 17 now
Of course, soodle, my mom is rachelcat on babble and may be reading this chog right now! :-)
hmmm. could have sworn you had a daughter as well....
oh, btw crossy, I have a protein folding questions
Hugs to Brookie's mom ((()))
go ahead trif
question. sorry. I thought I set it up so the client would be running all the time on a computer we rarely use. But when I check on it, it always says "0/0" down in the task bar thing at the bottom of my screen
isn't it supposed to be sending messages to itself and such?
it is,try restarting the program
which, the protein one?
yup
NB, he needed to be rescued.
I am thinking that it might be a problem with the sleep settings on the pc - if it goes to sleep, maybe it cuts off the folding?
it is possible, but i have not had that issue as of yet
sigh. will keep at it.
if it keep up,you may have to do a fast uninstall with c cleaner and load the program again
Hello, All....Trif when i have my computer on..it will fold..if i put my computer in sleep or hybernate mode it will not fold.
f@h will remember your score in its university data base
mm so not an isolated problem i see
thank you zooz. what operating system do you have on the pc?
Hi Zooz
i run it on xp and win 7
mine is windows 7 .
that is what I have on that pc, I think....well, xp, but not windows 7, unless it updated....
well wife runs it on win 7,i see she has taken over 5th place lol
windows 7 could turn a wise man insane...got 'the vista issue'; once again they have released something with no idea how it works.
the computer is put in a minimal state when in sleep mode or hybernate mode so will not be able to fold...not that it matters really.
Never did like vista , NB, always crashing i found.
strange, the mrs rig fold non stop all night in sleep mode...
i may have to look at some setting for you both later on
vista was horrid
okay, let's see....have shuffled over to the pc in question with my laptop in hand....
Hiya Zooz :-)
The information given would be great, Crossy, Thanks.
I'm not ashamed to admit that vista reduced me to tears of fury :P
Hello, Soodle :-)
LOL, NB...and many others i amsure.
it will have to be a bit later on i am afraid, but i will check all the wifes sleep and hibernation settings and report back
I have to step in here and say that my mother, whom we're burying this afternoon, was an extraordinary woman, mother, and friend. Here is her obituary: http://tinyurl.com/2e6d67f
right there with you on THAT on Nancy. I think "vista" is latin for 'not responding'
(((((Une)))) I'm so sorry.
i am sorry for your loss une:((
oh, une....so sorry to hear this news! blessings and love to you all
Oh ((((Une)))) will read now.
Oh Une, I'm sorry. What a beautiful picture of her, as well..
Nearly 200 people came to her visitation last night.
mm bad link,i get info on green corsets
try again, crossy, it works for me
trying again
((Une's mother + loved ones))
You have spoken of her often, Une.
ok got it
all right, I have set my computer to never sleep or hibernate, and restarted f@h....will check back in a few hours and see how it's going.
sounds good trif
Une - what a lovely obituary. May she rest in peace.
Une, TY for sharing that. She lived a good live, huh? And touched many others.
Ditto, Soodle.
I have great sympathy for NB and all children who have parents who make their lives difficult and make them feel unloved, but I was lucky enough to have a mother who was the best anyone could ask for.
it's says it's not scheduled to upload until january 24th - does that sound right? I am in queue position 5
ty for sharing your mother with us une and prayer to you and your family from ours
One question though..sorry for sounding dumb..but what is a Political Science is it to do with war?
une, the photo in your icon is absolutely beautiful!
ok, must run -- thanks for the kind words -- poofing now
Take care, (((Une)))
No sympathy Une, where god closes a door he opens a window and all that. take care...
that sounds very strange trif,i do one protein every 3 days or so and the wifes faster rig has done 3 per day
(((une)))
((((une))))
maybe its a big protein or something? who knows. it's running now, happily folding away, so I will not overthink it
what is the number showing when you mouse of the F@H icon in your task bar?
Hi everybody. Man do I feel like a horse's be****! My last word was just that.
WTG Gramma!
lol ty gramma
Hi gramma and TY for the clue.
240/250
Hey, is Brookie still here? Saw her speech in her profile and it's making me laugh...
yup..just roll with it then;))
oh, wait, my bad - the deadline date is january 24th. that's different, right?
All this crying about parenting is killing me. I've always said...I don't take the credit when they do something great; therefore, I won't take the blame when they screw up. We do the best we can at the time
when it finishes this one, does it get itself a new one to fold, or do I have to do that manually?
It will get it automatically, Trif.
it gets a fresh one itself
yay
See you all later.
bye gramma
on the fast computer we often get 2000,s but on this pokey thing i use i get a ndless stream of 250,s
Take care, Gramma.
endless*
crossy, thank you so much for letting us all know about this project. I am so glad to be involved
bye, Gramma. Not sure if that was directed at me (amongst others) or not, but I think there is sometimes a difference between parents "screwing up" and parents being pure, unadulterated evil.
There sure is, NB.
it is a great way to be more involved and actually be on the front lines of cancer research,i am glad you enjoy it and anything i do to help others with cancer is just a bonus for me
agreed. and man, I totally take some of the credit when my kids do something great! are you kidding?
Well, 50 to go and I shall return later. Enjoy the day everyone!
tc scwabby
have a good one, scrabbler
Bye for now, Scrabs.
I don't think it'
puppy is napping, and i suppose I should take a little snooze before i have to leave for work, but I am up now, and all....
Sorry
Hello, Molly :-)
I don't think it's about taking credit for either the success or failure of our children. I think it's about being loving, responsible people as we parent. Some don't manage that. Damaged children are the result.
it's okay, molly, I do that all the time, owing to my apostrophe being entirely too close to the return
I would agree, molly, except that there is simply no way to avoid doing some good, and some damage. My children have the unfortunate luck to be raised by a human mom, you see. No matter how hard I try, I am going to make mistakes. It's a mathematical certainty. The key is to try to make the mistakes that don't damage much.
anyways, this insomnia is a killer(been up since 2 am really) think i will try for a tad more sleep and catch you all a bit later..i hope lol..or i may be back in 15 minutes, bloodshot eyes and all
I am no one's idea of a saint. When I am tired, or cross, or overwhelmed, my temper frays and I say things I shouldn't. and if I am having my period, FORGET it. So yes, sometimes my words are sharper than they should be, and I do worry about the damage that could cause.
Happy napping, Crossy
Oh of course Trif. We are all human. None of us perfect. It's trying with love that counts.
wishing you a restful and restorative nap, crossy
poink!
not being a parent myself, I suppose I can't understand. Some people don't deserve to have kids, however. anyway, I'm outta here.
Bye for now, NB :-)
this is going to sound highly judgemental of me, but the ones I just can't understand are the adoptive parents who adopt kids and then turf them over to nannies and rarely interact with them again. Why did they bother?
morning gang
I don't understand any parents who let hired help raise their children. What's the point? To have a showcase kid for certain events?
Hello, TheLegend :-)
they do look good on the christmas cards, molly
morning legend
do we have any ae- words today, please?
Hi TheLegend!
No ae's
morning, brookie..:)
No ae words Trif.
thaenk you molly!
lol
brookie, your speech is really, really funny
Thanks so much, Trif! I have to start thinking about the next contest, which is this spring. It has to be a "serious" speech.
i am trying to start a speech coach consultancy, so I am keenly interested in public speaking
So you're a speech coach?
i am just getting started, but yes
That's great that you're launching into that! My goal is to be a speech writer (non-political) with a specialty in humor. I'm going to start working on that in a few months, after I take care of some other things first.
Trif, are you part of NSA or Toastmasters?
not yet, but I am looking for a local chapter to join.
NSA or TM, or both?
toastmasters, I think....
If you wanted to talk more about it, feel free to email me at delawarebrookie at gmail dot com. I'm VP of Membership for my local club and am Editor of our District's newsletter.
thank you!!! have made note...
Hope to hear from you. :-)
I think I am going to get a little more sleep before I have to leave for work. 34 to go here, so not bad for an early saturday morning....have a nice day, my dear babble friends
Bye, trif!
Bye for now, Trif :-)
Gotta go too. Have a great day, everyone! (poof!)
Bye, Brookie :-)
Cannot get my head round the `E`s today.
Yay got the lone `E`...go me..lol
Happy Saturday everyone
Hello (((MoM)))
I think most people have gone or are in stealth mode :-)
((((Zoozz)))) good afternoon and Happy New Year to you. I hope it is a great year for you
And to you too, hope you get everything you wish for :-)
thank you Zoozz
Zoo, what are the stats for the lone E that you found?
zooz, i like "stealth mode" ;) lurkers sounds so evil!!
hello Lady
morning mom
ei 4/5 common word found in the grid, Mom
ah, so it is. Thank you, Zoozz
Thanks, Lady, sounds like a stalker.
Ah, the old half a duck. Thanks Zoom.
that's what i think too
i have one of the other `E`s still looking for the last one.
LOL..thats the one, Molly.
((Molly)) good morning
last one is eg 4/7
The e's are all perfectly plain words. But they eluded me for a while too. Hey (((Mom)))
thanks Lady
Geez another regular to the grid..many thanks, Lady.
yw
(yawn) good morning
Hello, Kap :-)
Hi Kaplan
I know there is a word "updo" so why not "updid."Why yenta but not zadie?
Ok as i keep trying `Pulse` i think it is time for me to have a bite to eat, will be back later, Take care, All.
by zooz
Kap, i tried Zadie also...*poof*
(((Zoozz)) take care
momzoid!
(((NUTTY))) Happy New Year
and happy old year to you too
how are you and how are things?
i think i'm catching a cold, i have a highly respectable sore throat
oh I am so sorry to hear that
**sets out throw, tissues, vicks, and cold tablets with hot tea and toast**
i'm so glad you apologized cause i was totally blaming you
:-)
its just the throat actually
that is what Momzoids do, take the blame for everythig
**takes away the tissues, cold tables and vicks, and sets out throat spray**
would you care to register your opinion on how i should manage my vacation?
Sure ...
kidnap the hunk and go to a remote island
going to florida, what do you think of driving down and flying back?
driving in a rental car, I presume
yes, that would be necessary
you don't want to fly both ways?
flying down is loads more expensive than flying home, and i've never done the drive
i got a ticket home for 64 smackers
driving is fun, if you aren't in a hurry
we always drove to Florida, love the drive
wow, that is great
morning babblers :)
when are you going?
i'm not really in a hurry. i thought i'd leave, maybe drive for a specific destination and stay, then finish the next day
morning nono
((Nono)) good morning
not going until march
Nut!!!! so good to see ya
it always took us 2 days to get there
(((mom))) hows your weather?
then it should be an easy drive, most of winter will have passed
its 20 hours from here, more if i'm driving
Nono, it is COLD and a little dusting of snow, how about you?
I think that is an excellent plan Nutty. Are you driving by yourself?
the same here Mom, I am so ready for spring already
yeppers, i don't need no stinking company...i can generate plenty of stink on my own
me too! We had 16.4 inches of snow just in December
we have had no wheres near that much, thankfully
but weather predicters are saying we could have as much as 60 inches total between now and end of march. I hope they are wrong
i could take some spring here as well
geesh just noticed my icon, I think I need to change it
clue for ac6, anyone?
morning Grant, not a clue sorry
grant add a couple of vowels to the ac4
Nutty, I was just thinking of your safety.
but should have known you can take care of yourself
ga e
sorry bout that
good morning
Hi Phandmd
Morning Phandmd
ha...i'll bring my sabre
and my rum
thank you, Nono
oh Nutty, how I have missed your humor.
How is art class?
thanks Nono
yw
what humor? art class starts again on monday.
Renny has been on Babble here lately. I hope you get to visit her when you go
in7 is a nasty, tricksy word
i plan to, but we were foiled last time so hard to say.
but since she isn't corporate any more, she should be able to. At least I hope so
all too familiar to diabetics
i hope so *cross fingers*
I just meant it's placement in the grid.
looks like to go one way i have to pick up and drop off at an airport
1/2 way in 10 mins! off to get the day going.
wtg phand
congrats Phandmd
at least it doesn't cross through itself
Nutty, all our car rental agencies are at the airport. Wonder if that is the way they all are.
thanks, have fun!
not all are, we have one here that is based a car dealership
hello everyone
hi Annie
call me silly but isnt "wahini" a word
(((Annie)) good morning. Are you snowed in?
Hi Nono
we have rental places in town, i figured if they shared a name
(((Mom))) No snow..was snowing like the dickens yesterday but did not stick
annie not sure but i think the word is wahine
glad to hear that Annie
NUtty!!!
:-D Annie
okay, thanks Nono
Nutty how are you? my dear pirate
arrrrrrrrrr, i have me a cold
glad the snow didnt stick yesterday, Annie. you guys had enough
*bops cold* go away ( not you, nutty)
Nutty, are you going to visit Key West when you go to Florida?
yeah, go away cold
is it near cape coral? i'm going to sanibel.
what kind of car should i rent?
Sanibel is beautiful. Not near Key West.
oh good question nutty, I would rent something totally different than what I normally drive I think
A Jaguar, for sure.
hi Scrabbs!
lol scrabsy boo
A tank
Hi Scrabbs!
buick lacrosse?
I'm back. 50 to go. Must make more tea because I am freezing!
really, with gas its the same as flying, flying is cheaper going home though
Do you need a big vehicle?
nope, just driving and dropping
unless someone this way needs a car delivered to fl, then that would be cheaper ;-)
Explore the prices of the various classes of rental cars. One year we rented a Murano for less then some sedans.
time for me to scoot off here and do something productive. :-) ((Hugs)) to all of you
Bye Mom
bye bye ((Mom)) have a great day
ta ta all
bye bye Scrabbler
Bye ((Mom)) have a great day
((Nono)), ((Nutty)) and ((Annie)) thanks, I hope you all have a great day as well
36 left for later. Bye Babblers. Enjoy the day.
Oy, the u's are icky.
Ay but they are, Molly me lass.
If you can say Oy, I can say Aye.
We are cross cultural soul mates Kap. : D
'morning
I am procrastinating the grocery store run. There is snow on the ground. Not a lot, but I hate driving in even a bit of it. Luckily, the store is around the corner.
My grandmother on the LowerEast Side through some irish accent into her Yiddish-English because she bantered with the cops.
You drive around the corner????
happened to a lot of us, kap ... and then add a little italian if you happen to move to bay ridge or canarsie :)
Long corner Kap, a mile or so.
:)
morning all, help with the u's pls
I sometimes walk it in the nice weather, if it's a light store run. It's a pretty walk.
I have no u's!
u + stare at the stars in the night sky.
Peri, if you love someone you like to **** into their eyes. Add the u beginning. Never heard of the word. I don't know, to "look up"
up + stare at the stars in the night sky.
ty zooz and Molly
*Passing a glass of water to Zoom, who has the hiccups*
could easily walk into a lightpost doing that
LOL, Welki.
yo dawg! Good afternoon. Welcome to Male Watcher's Day.
Yes Welki, but then (if you walked into a lightpost) you might get to Narnia. : P
Would Upset and Setup mean the same thing? I think not!
Hello, Spritey :-)
hi spritey
The best up 6/45 I ever had was from my hammock on the beach one sultry September night. Gorgeous.
hey zooz! How are you doing today? Haven't asked for a while and I really want to know.
hi Annie
Upen dand end up? Updo and do up?
Not too bad thanks, Hope you are well, Sprite :-)
I am missing one word - an in4,4 - and when I type in what I think it is, it says I've already entered it. But it doesn't show up on my clue list so can't get it to count. Anyone else have that problem?
Kap, I think you have a kaspratch in your gefiltegezoid.
lol
also not too bad :) One day at a time and adamant in keeping up hope. Sounds familiar? ;)
refresh your browswer, mema
I'm ferklempt
snowing again, will have to shovel again. luckily I am in good shape
control + F5 ifyou use windows. It is probably the hairy-nosed dolphin, a babblet?
*Consoliing Kap, talk amongst yourselves. Topic? Is budda like Bawbra, or Bawbra like budda. Discuss.*
you kvetching?
Mema right click in your word list and refresh or reload and see if that sorts it out for you.
Refreshing worked - but now it says no words left but I didn't get fireworks.
awwww that is sad, Mema. Here you go: ~%~%~%~%~%FIREWORKS%~%~%~%~% for Mema! Gratz!
It is told that a Jewish immigrant, when asked his name at Ellis Island repiled"It's for guessin'" andso his clan ended up with the name Fergusen/
Does not matter , Mema you will still have all the score points added to your total.
Thanks Gratz! Made me feel better!
:-)
****%%%%%%***** for Mema
oh and WTG, Mema !!

(welki might have the best cut and paste skills every *lol*)
wtg welki :D
Welki, I like your quote. I am a big Safire fan. Who is John Simon?
---and definitely not the best typing skills :)
he was a ny theatre critic
Thanks.
*usual de- depression... letting out from behind bars is not valid... unlearning hubby to change channels all the time is not valid...*
and thank you :)
hazan
lol welki... after your remark on your typing skills, I read : " any theatre critic"
:)
ohhh, huge gusts of wind happening here (and snow) .. sounds crazy outside!

welki, that is the kind of weather we had last week
i know it wreaks havoc on the area, but i love the sound of it, it's like a lullaby for me
we have the wind, but luckily no snow yet. I hope it stays that way.

hi ruby
I haven't seen you for a long time zzoozz!
we are having strange warm weather, over 50F today. I am pretending that spring is coming.....
Have been here, we must of been Babbling at different times :-)
when I lived in Sou. Illinois, we used to drive through WV and it was beautiful!
Although i am watching darts at the moment..taking a breal from finding words for now..lol
break*
watching darts? what is that?
or even a breal
hills are beautiful - love being here - born in Illinois (flat land) - but not fun to drive in the hills in the snow
lived in Carbondale for 1 1/2 yrs
have an old old friend in Morgantown, but never been there
have to go serve dinner, see you later
who is the friend? Morgantown is a small town - though the univeristy is here
you are actually in Morgantown?
that is too funny
dinner wasn't quite ready
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Darts
what do you teach? at the University?
Not sure it is your cup of tea though, Ruby.
probably not, zzoozz, I just like word games
just read your profile, wv, lap dulcimer! wow. That's a traditional Appalachian instrument, no?
uh oh, I hear footsteps....
yes, it is a fretted sdtringed instrument - we play mostly old time traditional music as well
i taught in the special education department and my husband was in the geology department
we live right in morgantown so my husband could walk to the campus
fireworks here
((ruby)) i am here
had to do some real work with the computer...feel so unclean now lol.a bit of babbling will fix me right up:)
*thinking of jean ritchie* thought i was the only one who still has a dulcimer!
our govt in it,s infinate wisdom is no longer offering any of the tax tables in booklet form, you have to hunt them down and print them yourself
oh well it is either pay the govt to do it for us or do it ourselves, works out same either way i suppose except doing it ourselves costs less as we are not making a kick ass govt wage lol
can one of identify this instrument the guy in the black and white shirt is wearing? when you said dulcimer,i ascociated with this, but it is not it seems
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cUvfZiC cUsE&feature=fvsr
hi and nbt
that's an autoharp, crossy
they guy? hahaha, that's john sebastian :)
<-- had such a crush on him and then saw him last week on a pbs special ... my how we both have aged! LOL
he has aged so well, though
ahh ok researched the dulcimer,it is a lap guitar of sorts
crossy love the Hawaiian guitar
there are a couple different types of dulcimer .. the lap dulcimer, a beautiful instrument that looks like an elongated violin and the hammer dulcimer, which is played with small mallets (the hammers)
why yes he has, dorens :)
i was looking at the lap versions then
if you remember joan baez, her sister mimi was married to richard farina, a fiction/song writer who played the dulcimer (maybe you'll remember the song, 'pack up your sorrows')
i was trying to remember who did that, thanks welki
judi collins sang it, too
my sister bought her husband a hammer dulcimer, which is nice, but not like the lap dulciimer
yes, and i had (still have many) every judy collins album made
i am a maid of constant sorrow
very different sounds. the lap dulcimer traditionally plays a droning melody, the hammered dulcimer sounds more 'ethereal'
i'm having a blast reminsiscing, but i have to stop procrastinating and get this day going .. .later, folks
enjoy the day welki... i'm on youtube listening to judy be a maid of constant sorrow... and will move on from there
lol amazing where a tidbit of info leads you,was listening to sol hoopii :)
yup... and the older we are, the more experiences for us to tap into
we start of like a train in a train yard, with a direction or a story in mind, but we get distracted and end up down different track to different places...but those places are interesting too;0
and along the way, have managed to get down to 25 with nbt and no list. a satisfying thirty minutes, for sure
doren ((((hugs)))) hope you are well and having a lovely new year.
thanks (((stid))).. am okay and having a decent new year... will that work?
i'm sure yours is better and that is as it should be
hey all. actually "in" a webinar atm, just wanted to check in quickly... I am SO happy to have some online resources. Turns out this particular seminar is right on target with something I am working on this quarter!
"decent" is better than awful, for sure. *offers choclit*
((stidmama))
thanks... eating the choclit gratefully, and glad your seminar is good for you. what are you working on?
this is a guest speaker who has the site http://www.freetech4teachers.com/ pretty interesting
brb
my master's project is going to be about how to provide instruction and access to digital literacies for rural and low-income students!!! (glad to finally have it pinned down)
are you talking about texts in lit,pdf and e-pub formats? something they can download in an inexpensive kobo reader?
schools would save a truckload of money if each kid had a reader and all texts were avaiilable for download in school resource room
though e-pub is the way to go as all the libraries out here deal in e-pub format only
i can access 22 county libraries from my desk with my e-reader;0
actually those AND twitter, facebook, blogs, texting... there are a lot of ways to engage students in communications and literacy.
indeed
For me, it's about how to introduce the rural kids in my home community to technologies that are taken for granted in cities but are rare or unavailable to our kids
yes,out in the boonies here many still only have dial-up and it makes doing work, reading or research very frustrating at times
there are things that they will need if they go to college, and things they will need to enter certain types of employment
exactly, cross!
indeed
but especially in the states you have a very brad at&t 3 g network unlike up here were there are very few providers and massive tracks of "dead" areas where there is not signal..period
broad
manufacturers are coming out this year with many inexpensive options to the i-pad
some for under 200 dollars
and that would be the best way for rural kids to get online and have all the educational advantages that the city kids enjoy with computers
"dead air" is one of our issues, cross -- for example, our cell phones don't work at home. we have to drive about three miles to get in range
and there are "dead" spots as one goes around and through the hills and along the shoreline.
motorola has a interesting one set to ship this quarter it is called the "atrix" http://www.chipchick.com/2011/01/motor ola-atrix.html
our dead areas are hundreds miles across and is mostly everything above north bay:(
but there are going to be many options opening up this year to get online at little cost
glad to hear they are working on options!
in india a company is gearing up to get schoolwork laptops to all students (who qualify) for under 200 dollars
sometimes I wonder about our developing lack of patience... remember when we were kids and would wait more than a week sometimes to a reply to a letter we had sent? Phone calls at a distance were too expensive.
Now we communicate instantly thousands of miles away just because...
lol, this age is all about instant gratification
yes, they are doing the laptop program for kids in many areas
i can remember as a child talking with my granma in england, all that was available was the trans atlantic cable, and you would wait till sunday and have a list written down of everything you wished to say, cause you had exactly 5 minutes.the operator would connect you and you had to remember there was a 7 second delay on the line so you did not end up talking over each other
you had to say "over" at the end of each topic to avoid confusion
then wait for her voice to come back down the wire lol
wow. that's pretty amazing... I just remember hollering so my grandparents on the other side of the continent could hear me.
my kids didn't understand why sometimes older people "yell" when they get on a long distance call.
thing was even a party line with 3 other families..our ring was 2 short and one long lol
wife gives me heck for yelling on the cell phone all the time lol
now a kid can whip out his i-phone and live video chat to his friend 6000 miles away in mere seconds
LOL too funny.
never been in a place with a party line, but my mother remembers such things
yup,i used to get heck cause i liked to "listen in" when i was bored
there used to be an art form to picking up a phone reciever without it making that single click sound on the line lol
{{crossy}} just made two more of your pastries, more successfully this time

2 more and ill be even with you rubes
well, i do (and did) have something on the taskbar, but it looks like a rotating chemical thing .. no percentages, just a rotating form .. when i click on f@home in the start menu now, it tells me it'salready running
yes, loots like a bunch of baloons, just mouse over it and you can see how you are making out on the latest fold
looks
nothing happens when i mouse over it
i can flip it around, but no text appears
as long as you see something like 154/250,it is running correctly
then right click it to bring up dispaly options
nada
maybe it's a windows7 thing
if nothing comes up when you run the pointer over it,you may need to restart the program or reinstall it if it is still be fussy

Hi all... anyone hear any updates on the shooting Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and others at an event today?
just heard that she is still alive
no updates on the others shot, just that there may have been 11 other victims
oh man i love gabrielle giffords
hadn't heard anything about it yet (but haven't been online much). this is awful.
oh .. and they have a 21 year old young man in custody, a bystander tackled him
hard to believe she's alive, they say she was shot point blank in the head :(
the world is getting crazier everyday it seems.
depends where the bullet went, what kind it was, I suppose--- and of course long-term survival and implications can't be known just yet
wasnt jim brady shot int he head?
yes, the former secretary of the press I think -- for Ronald Reagan
yes - so its possible giffords will make it
i have cnn on. shes ins urgery now
my hope is that she and all the others will be relatively okay. I am terribly upset when people are so very mean to each other.
sarah palin has scrubbed off any references to guns on her website. a little too late if you ask me
ok cnn now saying a federal judge has been shot as well
heading out. ((hugs all)) be safe, be well, and tell the people you love that you love them! *poof*

Lovely profile pic, Glan.
first ever snow angel LOL
Angelic!!
german snow proved impossible to make a snowman from but did beautiful snow angels..
I have seen enough snow this year to do me a lifetime. Still blowing a blizzard here!
we had 2 inches on thursday night but heavy rain yesterday washed it all away. i don;t wamt any more LOL
whreabouts in ireland are you soodle?
About 30 miles north of Dublin. A place called Trim, in County Meath.
not so far away then - as the crow flies - didn;t realise there was snow forecast for ireland today
can anyone clue me the ad6, please?
Think a beautiful young greek god, ylleria....
a greek god
Where in Wales are you, Glan? (I'm really only familiar with Holyhead....)
ah, thanks clarkie & soodle! :)
I'm in Brecon - if you look at a map of wales I am about a third of the way up and in the middle!
Ylleria. Just had a look at your profile.... You should have got that ad 6 without a clue!!!!
I like Wales, Welsh people, and the Welsh accent!
We're mostly a pretty friend;y and sociable bunch - warm welcome in the hillsides and all that
I love it when Ireland play either Wales or Scotland in the 6 Nations, at home. The buzz around town is great.

I hesitate to say I'm "great"... that could be taken as bragging ?? LOL
ty diane
yw, Glantarell
hi all. is there a way to make the word list expand so you can see all of them at once?
Embrace and enjoy the 'Great'! Theres not enough of it around!!
back again all for the last 10 - been up a friends drinking beer adn watching James Bond. won £7 on the lottery and have just been told I am going shopping again tomorrow - whoopeee
Hello Jes. I'm sorry, I don't have an answer to your question. :-(
ok. :)
but life is great ! Just waiting to see how hubby's eye surgery has done, and if good, then we are off south, to Arizona for a couple of months. ( not sure if you know where it is from where I am in Canada, but it's warm !!!
Woo-hoo Kazz.......... Beer AND a lottery win? Life is good!!!
Hi Soodle and Kazzar
hi Kazzer
I spent 10 days in Arizona about 18 months ago - a bit too hot for me, even in October LOL
Hiya Boo. :-)
it's moderate from Jan to end of April... then it starts to get hot
Terrible tragedy in Arizona today...... (sorry for dispelling the feel-good factor)
you're right soodle - life is lovely - lovely hubby ho bought me a lovely designer handbag for my birthday, lovely beer, lovely friends and lovely company online
what tradgedy?
diae
sorry
clue for da 5/22 please
Another mass shooting. About 18 people hurt, some killed. An elected representative was seriously injured.
DA and to marry, Boo.
guns. if i could uninvent one thing, that might be it.
I certainly could not take it when it's +45 C
ooh thats terrible soodle
d+ a4/9
was the the congresswoman who was shot ? I should go read the article
Oooh, Kaz - a designer handbag? I LOVE handbags!
so do i it was a Radley in the sale -cant afford them otherwise
hey all! failte, Soodles!! :-D
I think so, Diane. I only heard the news headlines, so I have no further details.
(((Stiddy)) Fáilte!
going to my news site now...
her name is gabrielle giffords, diane, tucson congresswoman
I just don't understand how guns are still legal. "Guns don't kill people, people do" - as Eddie Izzard says, yeah, well the gun HELPS
so far 6 of the people who were shot have died, including a judge and a 9-year old girl...
that's terrible
Nancy BOY!!!!! (((((HUGS AND HUGS AND HUGSSSSSS))))) are you home? are you feeling better????
yes... I just read it :-(( We go to Casa Grande, which is almost midpoint between Phoenix and Tucson
Hi NB
I was about 3 hours south of Phoenix, just under an hour souith of tuscon
beautiful area - smelt my first skunk smell and saw roadrunners
aw stid, what a nice welcome :) yes, I'm home thanks! stuck on total bedrest at the moment which frankly sucks, but feeling okay, thank you :) how are you??
ah yes! the intoxicating aroma of skunk.... don't you have smelly critters in Wales?
lol, I smelled my first skunk in a friend's basement at a house party...might be a different type of skunk...
I am doing okay today -- nervous still about getting everything done, but thinking I might just survive this quarter....
(((HUGGLES NB)))
*Tucking NB into bed. Putting in fun, action movies. Making Doctor approved snacks*
Be very careful how you answer that one, Glan!!!
how's your other half?
hi NB.. :-) ( nota bene !! .... It's NB )
the only smelly critters we have in wales are the lazy folk who don;t bother to wash!
Hello Moll :-)
or... are you his other half? who kept custody of the larger lobe?
yknow, stid, if theyre halves, then they equal. ;)
Heya Soodle.
(((ladies))) wow, thank you - I feel like quite the lothario now ;)
LOL Glantarell! sounds like a nice place olfactorily!
LOL Stid. He's bigger, so he keeps the bigger bit.
that would be a true point, EvaN, I was thinking "halves" in the way that a 3-year old does!
certainly is - we have sweet smelling things here, although old fox trails on damp days can smell a little rank LOL
hi Molly :-) , Eva :-)
:-D well, give him a sisterly kiss from me, and tell him I owe him a box of choclits (if you boys are still allowed to eat choclit?)
please put me out of my misery - a clue for the 14,4? I have the one that describes drinking dens
in4,4 even
I think you want a hairy-nosed dolphin babblet... in + two vowels
oh i have come axcross that bablet before but can't remember it - will monkey a little
Glan. A babblet if ever there was one...... IN and two vowels. Get it and remember it. It's a recurring theme...
ty
*brilliant babble idea* we should take a field trip to view the in 4/4 in the wild! and we could stay at in 4/4 on our trip!!!
sort of like the handy dandy needlecase :-)
like the brilliant babble idea
im getting ready for a girls night. pho for dinner, then the rest of the evening painting our nails and watching tele. greatly looking forward to it!
wondering how to give a sisterly kiss... but he's very well, thank you for asking :) we've been having fun with our scars - they're a very funny shape. Look like the mouths of discontented cats, so we've been drawing ears above our nipples and whiskers on our ribcages. *mature*
and back to my regularly scheduled schoolwork. or a nap. maybe a nap and then schoolwork... *sigh* it's been a lovely, sunny day and I have spent it studying and driving a kid back and forth into town
pho for dinner? is that food?
sounds excellent, EvaN!
Go Eva!! Have a fun, girlie evening. They are the best.
rofl Nancy Boy! too funny! I hope you are using water-based markers!
I love pho -- homemade is best...
glan -- pgo is a vietnamese soup with noodles and you can pick your own meat to add and bean sprouts and yumminess.
vietnamese noodle soup = pho
if we eat it here we call it something else!
NB, I am so glad to hear that you and Frank are maintaining your senses of humor. That makes all the difference. Hugs to both of you.
Count me in for the field trip! Could we factor in a couple of ad 6/21's to accompany us, please?
it's pronounced "fuh" like the beginning of fuddy-duddy
not much vietnamese cuisine here in the UK - and giessing what there is is limited to big cities
like the cmpany of the 6/21s, although they do tend to be a bit self centred
NB, i demand a photo of the kitty drawings. ;)
I don't have ad 6 yet!!! *looking*
but I would tend to vote yes...
dare I ask what NB and Frank have done?
i have had such a pho craving, and when i mentioned it to the gals, they all got one too! so we have been looking forward tot his for day...
i am missing a ni 5 any clues please
ad6 - good looking young greek god
oh! now I do, and definitely. NB and Frank will serve nicely in that role...
dayS even
C'mon, Stiddy.... You can find the ad 6......
LOL Eva, I refuse to put my naked torso on the web. I need to gain some weight first!
and my tom, of course... any other candidates?
you can just email it to me. ;)
Stiddy ;) *POSE*
probably ruru... he's our cabana man.
rofl.... silly boy!
Eva, I'm not playing the self-deprecating card, but I look seriously disgusting at the moment. Lost a LOT of weight and had to have my incision reopened a bit (long story) so I look VERY gory!
oh kiddo! *worried mama look* you need to take care of yourself!
ni 5 ni + 3/4 of what jack and jill climbed
awwww. well, you do still owe me a photo of frank. but i will wait until youre feeling more up to par...are you recovering well? put on any pounds yet?
Oh yuck NB. Did they have to put those antibiotic beads in? If so, I've heard they work well.
ty diane
thanks for those diane
i had tried the first 4 letters of that to no avail LOL
got that one - any clue for te other
the 7s? hi and in?
Lovely clue Diane. (Soodles muttering nursery rhymes to herself franticly.....)
my tom is making us popcorn... any takers?
which other kaz
sibling's little girl is the other ni5
yes please to the popcorn
I'll put it back on soon enough, I'm sure. And no Molly, they stuck a camera in there to 'have a look'...hope they enjoyed it :P
ty dhirlock
there are so many everyday words in the grid today... have to be careful not to send myself to the PB
tom says you are welcome, byob (bring your own bowl)
thanks
NB, they needed to have a look? Blech. You must be sore. *Passing the heating pad*
Butter on mine, please, Tom....
well, its a good thing we are doing our nails tonight -- i broke 2 last night, and i see another one is cracked right now! good thing they only just lost a wee bit of length.
*ships care package of choclits, smoked tofu, crispy rice crackers, kimchee, those lovely back beans that are served with kimchee, seaweed salad... and vegan ice cream*
Stid, does Tom make popcorn on the stove and add butter? If so, I'm in.
kimchee is that red hot korean pickle?
no, we have a hot-air popper. It's actually the one I took to college I think... might be time to replace
EWWW!!! Kimchee???
I LOVE kimchee!!! what's wrong with kimchee!!!
oh! I forgot the sushi rolls *packs second, smaller package*
hi7?
all food with chili in it is the work of the devil LOL
merciiii Stid but I don't think that vegan ice cream will survive the post ;)
you english types! *rolls eyes*
OMG Glan. Stay away from my home country whatever you do, if you think that :P
is there such a thing as vegan frozen yogurt? i just had some taro-flavored FroYo the other day, and it was to DIE for!
Shirl.. HI 7.... think of a horsey sound, minus the W
good point. *calls local London delivery service and orders vegan pizza and ice cream for delivery*
hi7 like the sound a horse made without the w
And Glan, I LOVE your icon. Cute and funny!
thanks glantarell! have been trying to find something bigger than a 5 since flip time!
first snow angel ever LOL
thx glantarell
has anybody ever tried making icecream with soya cream? iot works for custard anmd sauces
Kimchi is fermented/half rotten vegetables. Blargh.
very impressive for a first time! *nods approvingly*
hi everyone! clue for the u? either one for nbt
stid - the in7 is diabetic meds
so is sauerkraut... (fermented/half rotten)
gee whiz! thanks again!
I don't eat that either Stid. : P
YAY! just got the call that my friends are on their way to come pick me up for girls night. woohoo!
hey LBD!!! ((hugs)) how are you?
personally i'm thining that all half fermented/rotten food should probably be avoided LOL
I'm with Glan on that one.
ooray fireworks for me - off to get biccys and coffee for my and lovely hubby
hi stiddy, tired. just got home from work.
woo hoo kazzer
I love fermented foods... *sigh* pickles are my nemesis. microbial action is one of nature's finest culinary inventions
YAY Kazzer!
true Molly - never been a fan. there is some lovely korean food though, that is served perfectly fresh ;)
*Soodle and Moll sit in the corner eating their buttered praities*
whoooo hoooo Kazz'
biccys? short for biscuits meaning cookies?
good luck to the rest of you see you tomorrow
I think I'm going to miss fermented DRINKS the most. *heart breaks*
Kazzer....Lottery win, beer and cosy night in with hubby.... You are on a roll! Enjoy!!!!
why can't u drink fermented drinks NB?
Nancy Boy! We would miss you YOU far more than you will ever miss alcohol. Really.
i will soods - bye bye
I am on day 7 with no alcohol
had some liver trouble so I can't drink anymore, Glan..
wow glantarell -- permanent, or just for a while?
am determined not to drink it at home any more - i have very little willpower where alcohol is concerned
i can stop at one drink but if i get to 3....
so for as lomng as i can manage LOL - sure it was a contributory factor in my getting cancer
that's a good idea. personally I don't much care for the taste OR the effect of alcohol very often. we use it in cooking sometimes though.
*Patting all my sober friends on the back*
sorry to hear about the liver trouble NB - but at least the liver is the only organ that can regrow
must admit Glan, I was sipping my way towards my own drinking problem when had to have the offending liver whipped out, so probably saving something in the long run. better now than later, right?
thanks, and sorry to hear about the cancer :( and good for you for giving up - and lots of luck with it!
you've had the whole offending liver out? ouch!
well... I want to stay, but being a responsible adult I think I shall go. my love and best wishes to you all, and gentle hugs and kisses for my dear boys with cat faces on their tummies. *wicked mama grin*
the cancer was 5 years ago, and i am missing an upper body part as a result \lol
*poof*
bye stidmama - enjoy!
hi all, and love that welsh flag, glantarell!
Slán leat, Stiddy
thanks Gwen - nice welsh name
bye, stiddy
actually i'm a gwyneth, which even more welsh, if possible LOL
Hey BDG :-)
hiya soodle, LTNS
Gwyneth means fortunate, blessed - lovely name
Gwen just means white or is a shortening of gwendolyn, meaning fair haired
Diane is feeling 'Super', Kazz won money on the Lottery, Nancy boy is doing well, EvaN is having a girlie sleepover, Gwen means fortunate, .....Its all good and happy on Babble today. Hooray!!
i prefer to think of gwyneth as the servant who saved the world on doctor who LOL
ROFL
i need a clue for the ac6,24 - i know it will be obvious but it isn't at the moment LOL
yep, fortunate is also good 8-D
AND Michael McIntyre is on Mock the Week.
don't have the ac6, still don't have NBT
Ac plus the shortened version of the boss of a newpaper plus two vowels
Hello all. I see Stidmama is attending to home while I decide to Babble. All is well in Babbleland.
Hello Stidmere :-)
ty soodle - another new word forme
Hi soodle. A newspaper boss? actor?
Newspaper boss, or pet name for Edward....
got it, ty soodle!
or person in charge of a publishing house
or a magazine boss, the one you get a smug little letter off at the front. "well, this is my mag, and it's WONDERFUL"
Phew. I thought I was going to have to draw a picture.LOL
Oh, yes. I think of that word as what one does to a test that is easily mastered.
Is pompous ass one word?
lol!
stid, not it you take the sp5 out LOL
so, can anyone clue the lone E near the upper right corner?
Okay thanks, I'll just wander through the grid.
ei4, gwen
Like the duck that supplies the stuffing for a quilt, without the last cons...
oh lord, fish me!
clue for the hi5/14 pls?
and dat-da-da-dah, NBT
I know you clued th e a6 6 100 times but I stilldon't get it
well done Gwen
Mary - what Jack and Jill went up, minus the final cons, and 'you and me'
wtg, gwen, how about a clue for the u?
ty Soodlebum
up6, and the other half of the word is also a word (and add plural letter for up7)
soodle that is as clear as mud
Kap, high card + Harry and Williams mom's first three letters of her first name
being dense but have it now
ty
Thank goodness.... brain was under pressure looking for a clearer clue!
ah, have just found a uk pop singer for my last d4
Ohhhhhhhh.
ty, gwen
hi kap

Hi. I waslooking at the wrongac.

Plural of the NI 5/12....

there's an ni5?
Indeed there is... Ni plus (here we go again) what Jack and Jill went up, minus the final cons....
oh you know, when you clued that last time, i thought it was an ac--! (DOH!)
Pay attention, BDG! Tsk, Tsk.
afternoon all (thx for the ni5)
(I'm squishing your head, soodle!) lol
(((Gasping for air)))
hi people ... violence in the chog? squishing of heads? gasping for air? maybe i should quietly back away :)
ca5? not the one you keep animals in
same letters rearranged, glan
* watching from the sidelines wondering if I should step in and remove BDG or give Soodle an air hose *
oh of course *slaps forehead
*hands pini a cup of tea* let's just watch :)
Soodle rallies, weakly. No need for the paramedics just yet. I may just pull through on my own......
* giggle * OK! :)
pretty decent of the cabana boys to work as water-boys for this event *hot dogs! getcher red hots!*
ROFL
no towel-snapping allowed
* settling into comfy pool side lounger, cup of tea in hand, and lovely eye candy wandering about handing out big fluffy towels and lotion * :)
Without the care and attention of the cabana boys, its unlikely Soodle would pull throug. But she is gallantly allowing them to peel her a grape or two, and pour her a glass of ice-cold Moet & Chandon.
Soodle is the ultimate martyr.
* snicker *
sending cold flannels to soothe soodle brow
i wonder if self-proclaimed martyrs carry as big an award as your regular run-of-the-mill martyr
i guess you never saw that show, kinds in the hall, where the squishing of heads is done only for fun, at a distance. it's very adolescent humor
Thank you Glan. (Back of hand to forehead, and lots of eye-rolling)
kinda like those finger violins, Gwen?
Have the amateur dramatics finished? Can I go to bed now?
yep, pini!
anyone have the ho5? my monkeys are exhausted
A japanese motor cycle, Gwen...

hint for the last n i need (from the 1st column)... i got glan's hint and multiple zeroes... what's the last one?
how many letters clarkie
do you have the one from lil's clue at 6:30, clarkie?
not sure... i haven't gone pro yet. will probably do so tomorrow
either 4 or 5 that i know
leslie - i got that one.
oh. you need to no* your head in agreement + vowel

sounds typical, Pini. one person doing the job of at least 5
that's right, lbd!
that's about when i listed, LA
...and my faculty thinks I just sit around waiting for them to ask me to do something for them...HA!
ahhh, the joys of higher ed. i'm not missing that at all
I mean, seriously, one asked if he should make his own copies or have "office help" do it for him!!!
yikes pini. perhaps you should tell them you would gladly forward them some of the 550 emails to deal with
I did mention to one prof about the content of one of the emails...he suggested I forward it to him to 'take care of'...it wasn't a very nice one...I just couldn't do it...
...can't throw people out this year because they're stupid...but may be another thing next season!
is he afraid of the copier? sheesh! i used to have to troubleshoot the computers in my office, on top of doing my own work, seeing students and prepping for my classes. amazing how people could screw up an easy task like sending email.
that's right, lbd! I keep telling my director that I'd like them each to just sit in a chair beside mine for just one day...they'd be more appreciative...maybe.
1 left
nah, they'd be just that more insecure.
git'r dun, glan!
go Glan!
oooh, didn't think of it that way, lbd!
need help for the last hi4,5 - not to do with snakes or ancient hebrew liquid measurements LOL

I'm not so sure about comfy places; our cat thinks that balancing on the back of the sofa while staring out the window is the best place of all (but she has trouble sitting there without falling off!)
That ha 5/22 word is h plus that aw 4/9 word Magyk.
nef, she's just trying to entertain you!
I am learning. She is very entertaining. And like yours, Nef, she loves to balance on the top of furniture

I really shouldn't be up now - we've got a 4lb piece of beef to roast for a family meal later, to be served about 2pm. Beloved's parents will be arriving for their Christmas/New Year meal. My Mum will be there, too, for her second one. Beloved and myself went away on our own for Christmas, and very nice it was, too. Beloved will put the meat in the oven. I hope he remembers to put my special mustard and pepper rub on it first!
listed at 20 - helps A LOT
I'll come in later to do the Yorkshire puddings, the fresh vegetables and the pudding.
not that I know these, but easy to monkey
jacula, rub a bit of brown sugar on it as well,we did that all the time at the ski chalet
Hi to all who came while I was on FaceBook just now.
that sounds yum, jac
I've also got to make a large batch of my special mince pies with marzipan, apparently.:-(
mince yum, marzipan, yuck
Crossy - I did not give you my ingredient list for the mustard rub, LOL
ahh
kje - Beloved's Mum would KILL, apparently, for my mince pieces with marzipan.
crossy hates marzipan,i was surrounded by tons of the stuff at the itallian bakery i used to work at
Mince pies, I meant, not pieces.
1st ni5?
well, thankfully she won't need to since she has you : )
1st ni 5/12 is ni plus Jack and Jill went up the ***l kje.
kje - your sibling's female child is your ni5.
I miss that word all the time! ty
ni 5/12:the opposite of nephew kje. Clued wrong one
Was chatting with a colleague on FaceBook. We have a colleague who's losing her 21 month old daughter to Cancer. She's been fighting leukemia for almost 2 yrs.
5
Go kje go!
that is very sad, min
last word= ad 6/24, and I can't find it. Could I have a hint, please?
kje - Well, I meant to make her some yesterday, but it was a busy day. I'll have to prepare the mince pies to go into the oven after the meat etc., comes out.
Min, how terrible!
ad6/21 is a very handsome young man. Put definition in reverse dictionary and it's the 1st word on the list
terrible indeed min;(((
greek handsome man
ac6/24 = laziness or try ac4/6 + 2 vowels at the end.
FW!!!
See Nef, I told you the grid was doable.Go get it done
Well done, kje.
Congratulations kje on your fireworks! Hooray for U!
ty - nice little grid... too tired for more
Thanks, Min! I kept looking at the wrong A (even though it was blackened out!)
Congratulations Nef on your fireworks! Hooray for U!
yayay nef!
I've no doubt Sunday's grid will be something stupid like 50 words. Why don't the big grids arrive on a Sunday?
I do that nef
we may get sow tomorrow
yes, I forgot to say fireworks too
snow
not a pig
My guess for the next grid size is 427 words, just for you Jacula. I do HOPE that it is not 427 words though
noooooooooooooooo
OK, must go - nyquil. awaits
kje, you can have the snow! Of course, we will be below zero; but that should keep it from snowing here!
Min - I hope it isn't on Sunday, but if it's tomorrow (Monday) when I have no famil meal to do etc., then YES!
19 left and time to list
ask for help if you need it, crossy
hi all. back to see about finishing
ac 6 clue please?
ac 4/6 + 2 vowels
Am nipping off, at the request of my son, who is a night owl like me, and so still up and about, to make the special mustard rub for Beloved to put on the beef before he wraps it in foil and roasts it beginning at 9.30am.

I've made the musard rub and left a note for Beloved. Hope he won't be offended! LOL
we are never offended when beef is in the offing;))
Especially not beef with my magic Yorkshire pud?

in=diabetic meds
mkh sounds like the sound a horse makes drop the "h"
and she's GOT it... I was too slow Hi everyone
My uncle in Canada, said to my Mum on the 'phone the other day, 'J cooks at lot, ddoesn't she?' He'd seen my Facebook posts. 'No.' said Mum, instructed by me. 'She's only telling you what's for dinner eacch night.'
An in 7/32 is medication for people with diabetes mkg
ty got it.
yw
Crossy - I used to make them that way, but my lot are more into the self-raising flour version now that's like a slab of cake.
now,i have seen the hi7 clued all day and have yet to get it.anyone care to lead me by the nose to it?
hi7/36:hi plus double consonants plus vowel plus past tense ending crosshair.
Scottish word, sort of, singing hi.....
tyvm min
hi 7/36 is hi plus double consonants plus 2 vowels plus consonant crosshair.
yw
h + not 'outies'.
now that is a grand clue for it jacula;)))
where where you this morn when i needed you? lol
ty got it.
It would have been, Crossy, had I told you to change the last letter to a past tense kind of thing.
Crossy - during your morning, I was probably out shopping for food.
No, that might have been during your night, come to think of it.
it is 7 minutes past midnight here atm;)
5.08am her in UK
and 4 little words to go;)
and 51 min left in grid time
Go crosshair go!
Just realized that no matter where you live, minutes left on the grid is universal. So there are 51 minutes left for Jacula and everybody else in the world as well
*waits to hear what the 4 little words are.*
up 6 please?
crossy is hunting frantically
Yes, Min, except that I did it all earlier.
yes min that is right.
up+ looking at the stars
go cross!
and pt
mkg - up6 = up + watched steadfastly without wavering. Uses the 6-point letter.
looking at the stars? is there one word for that?
mkg - thing star ga4/11ing.
ty got it.
Well done, mkg.
second last hi 4/5 please
i object to these weird words like the up words.
i am fading for the night and have to get these last 4 lol
crossy - change the last 2 letters of the hi4/5 around to find it.
one to go.
lol,bee doing that
go to more words cross. i got them there
hi 4: opp or hers is hi* and then another cons.
got it...
and what kind of stoopid word is that i might ask?? grrr
cross - 3rd hi4/5 is a snake sound. The one before it is same but with a different consonant at the end, means 'belongs to him'.
wi 5/28 please
It's Scotish, crossy.
well get me a bottle of scotch whiskey fast! lol
A word for a curse, or a mining word. It sounds like the wi4.8 before it, victorious.
finally done. whew. and night all. crossy, wi: same first 3 as above and 6 point letter and vowel.
Crossy - Irish whiskey tastes far better!
corssy do you need more clues? yes many stoopid words in t his grid. do you have the up words? also stoopid.
BTW, the post, it's Scottish, referred to both the hi and wi words.
I'm going off to leave you all to it now. See you next grid.
crossy, are you the runner on the right in photo? man with baseball hat on?
2
ask for clues or i will go to sleep cross
what does crosshair mean anyway?????????
mkg, those photos are a mistake by the people at flickr, they do not belong to me
