sweet dreams was 1983

I was born in 1983 and yet I know that song very well
ah.. really? I thought it was while I was still in high school. huh
so true jilli, I'm more aware of the music my kids played and listened to - prob. starting in the 70s
was 1983 and was off the album of the same name

He is getting good at finding 4 lettered words
BabbleExpert is a wonderful thing Lickety made for PCs, where everything is on one page and there is a "Lickety Add" box where if you type one word it goes to both lists, and if you type more than one it goes to the chat. There are other goodies too, like a link to morewords above the grid in the Resources tab. It's free -- just email Lickety and ask for it. wow..... Tony Bennett really holds that note for a long time at the end.....
seven sided shape prefix and shootings are reported on the **ws ( for those of use who are useless at chemistry clues lol )
take the endings from those below and get to there from the "H"

al6 was in the grid a few days ago - a & ***stick & Mr ** the talking horse
TY Lyn - although I had to look the talking horse up LOL
really? thought you would be old enough to remember
didn't get a tv until I was 8 and suspect it's a US character anyway
Yes - one of those US family series
#a horse is a horse, of course, of course, unless, of course, you're Ed the horse#
sorry - too much coffee lol
10 years younger than Glant too
lol
i just remember the re-runs
rub it in why don't you ;-) - approaching th first birthday that has given me a bit of a wobble
55?
yes...
40 was no problem
50 was recovering form cancer and just so glad to be alive
55 is starting to feel a little old LOL
well they have raised the retirement age here until 67 - so at 55 you still have a lot of 'useful' years left - before they put you out to pasture!
they keep changing the retirement age for women here it was 60 but is increasing depending on the yhear you were born - i think 61 is the minimum for me at the moment
Good morning/evening all.
but they are talking about raising the age for everybody soon - i'd like to be able to afford to retire and garden and make art
Hi Haz
really stuck on the en6 - any clues?
Unless you are quite old (like me!) equal opportunity has ensured there is no diff in retirement age here
morning Haz
en6 - giving you a clue will en6 me thinking about it.
en & shake your **** feathers
Hello lynxxx and Glan and frogface.
TY Lyn
hello hello :) finally lyn and haz and good peoples!
Hello possum!
Come to entertain us with your latest adventures?
I have a weekend off :) All weekend!
I discovered a sea slug. And some seaweed previously unknown in Kent. Does that count :)
Dear me. I'm seeing things. I could have sworn Ata was posting but that's just a dream, right?
Wow! not sure that a 'slug' would count (OK it's just me then) but def. the seaweed. Clever you. Do you get 2 new badges for the sleeve of your uniform?
I'd say it would merit an extra big clipboard as well.
noooo but I get to write a press release about them!
Yay you. Next it will be the scientific journals!
Do you get to sound all breathless with excitement with many !!! or do scientists have to come across all nonchalant?
oh very nonchalant and uninterested
It is great that you so excited about the new(ish) job still
So if we ever read a scientific journal where they're keen, we'll know they're fakes?
absolutely. "A new species of sacoglossan mollusc was recorded from St Margaret's Bay in March ..." etc etc
Did FM plant it, do you think?
science should send you to sleep within a paragraph
quite possibly
I wouldn't put it past her.
nor me
She's being lying low these days, trying to lull a new generation of babblers into a false sense of security about things she's responsible for.
The oldies know better, of course.
well yes. we know ...
I suppose you missed out on the two mega-grids this week. Two grids over 500 in three days. THAT was FM's fault.
I have noticed on Andree (from Sydney) profile that she has bought a house up the coast of NSW and is enjoying her new life with Hugo
Plus the server was acting up and people were having nervous breakdowns because they couldn't get words entered.
ouch! definitely FM material that. I never thought it could be possible that work would prevent even thoughts of babble for days on end, but it does
awwww I hope she's happy with lovely Hugo
Funnily enough, lynxxx, I had been thinking about Andree and wondering what she'd been up to. Are the grandchildren still with her?
No. She says that she makes the trip down a few days a week (for the business) and stays with her. Bet the kids go up for holidays though
So she hasn't got the business sold yet.
Jellen appeared a couple of days ago too. Lovely to see
Yes, I noticed Jellen in the chat, she seems to be doing okay.
I guess not Haz. Odd that it hasn't sold, building down here is booming, maybe not so much in Sydney
Hugo will be over 2 now. Just think, he'll be all grown up and reasonably sensible.
"reasonably"
how are your 2 Ata
Sily is sitting right here with me basking in the sunshine
Hobbit is her normal silly self :)
So Hobbit can't even get the 'reasonably' sensible label?
I have news that will surprise and delight.
she's a spaniel!
Spangle doesn't sleep outside in the kennel any more.
Yay!!!! happy spaniel!
hurray!!!
It is an unused kennel. The kennel is closed.
what does spangle think of that?
but I must ask 'how come?'
It was a combination of the really severe weather and the softening of husband's heart.
It was just silly having her inside the rest of the day and then shoving her out at night. He finally gave in.
"cuse me, I'm being barked at (talking about silly dogs)
how long did it take her to get used to not having the kennel?
It took a couple of nights for her to realise that she was in the kitchen to stay, but once she got the message, she's got into the new routine.
It's quite funny in the morning, when you come downstairs, if she's already awake she's sniffing furiously at the bottom of the door to determine if anybody's around.
She's so deaf now that she doesn't hear us up moving around so smelling us is the only option.
Hello all. Lickety appears to have an error: offline is not in the dictionary so there is a stray of7 in his list.
awwwww :) it must have been very odd at first for her
I think she was slightly confused but has decided to go with the flow and not rock the boat. There, you try getting two cliches into a sentence.
at least both water based cliches
Hello, scouser, yes, Lickety uses a different version of enable from babble so sometimes non-words appear.
Yes, water based cliches are best otherwise you'd be up the creek without a paddle.
I'm trying to go with the flow here, but I'm all at sea. Morning all :-)
Back. Hello Scouser & Soodle
Good morning, Soodle.
think of it as water over the dam or under the bridge
Hurry up, Ata, time and tide waits for no man.
morning Kateq
morning all
Hello, Kateq. Let's hope we don't argue otherwise we'll have to pour oil on troubled waters.
as I well know!
Nice to 'see' you Ata :-)
you too soodle! I finally have a weekend off :)
And what better way to spend it than babbling and finding water-based cliches?
Note that she hasn't come up with any yet...
Leave her alone, Haz - its her weekend off!
Oh, but her brain needs to be kept stimulated so that she's ready to find more slugs on Monday.
there aren't any left!
is fl5.18 really acceptable?
Nonsense, Ata. You can sneak a look at Clicheweb, your friendly website for all things cliched.
perhaps baseball?
I don't like fl5/18 either.
do they sponsor you too?
Not yet, but that's a good idea.
You can't insult me, it's like water off a duck's back.
of course it's acceptable. Fl5 Lice. Famous Chinese dish.
When I don't babble, I'm like a fish out of water.
www.clichesite.com doesn't have a water category
www.cambiaresearch.com does
my computer won't let me see that, says it's not a nice site! bad haz!
http://tinyurl.com/3tqu6jb
Must be off for a bit, bye for now
My computer must be very liberal.
That's worrying.
Bye, lynxxx, nice to see you.
is a frog's asshole watertight? ??!!
good morning all.
Ata! *hugs* Lovely to see you again. Work keeping you busy, challenged and amused?
Maybe that's why your computer says it's bad. A new expression on me, I admit.
Hello, sprite.
very!
wonderful :)
hi Haz :)
sily is no tryng to help me type
Is she any good?
no!
she is a CAT, not a monkey. Silly Ata.
That's a pity. You could have written a boring scientific entry about a feline with unusual tactile abilities.
she's a monster not a cat!
CAT. In Catpitals. Tsk.
at the moment she's a MONSTER!
she bit my ankle this morning because I dared to go downstairs in front of her!
and why in the name of whatever isn't helia the plural of helium?
argh! That is monsterly indeed. But the real issue is, why did you? Don't you know your place, Ata??
well very true lol
how is little Terra?
lovely, sweet, playful and a little crazy, as ever. Hold on, I will put a recent pic on Flickr.
awwwwww :D
a spaniel, in other words :D
totally. Am still so very happy with your advice, back then. Terra fits our family as a glove. And he loves being with us as well.
I know I'm biased, but spaniels are just wonderful happy dogs
it is true. I have seen a whole lot of other dogs since we got Terra, and I think there are no happier dogs than spaniels.
I'm sure every other non-spaniel dog owner in the world would disagree, but we know you're right
yeah. They just don't know any better. If you want, check out my Flickr now. New pics are added.
he's beautiful!!!
am trying to think of a semi modest answer. But I have to agree. He is.
little fluffy feet!
All the better for The Arranging Of The Paws.
yes! Officially we should pluck the old hairs from between his toes. But he hates hates hates that. So once in a while I just grab the scissors and make the fluffs foot-sized again. Or he would start looking like he walks on those oriental slippers.
pluck them!!!
that is what they say. I can't, though. His feet are too sensitive and I refuse to make him miserable.
I do the same every few months with hobbit
plucking or cutting?
As Deputy Dawg used to say 'The time has come for me to go.' Nice to see you again, Ata, and we'll maybe see you tomorrow, since you've got the weekend off. Bye, sprite!

any clues for the pi6/21 - i have the gears one but need the other 2
pi + goose (ne4/4 babblet); pi + double cons + Mr. Gore
ty for the goose city
feel like you're clueing pinned for the other but it's not there
sorry misread Mr Gore for Mr Ed who was clued earlier!
sorry, it was a lazy clue - all these pi's and pe's are horrible to clue.
it got me there city - so thanks
do you have the first le5/ - le5/10
nm - got it
7 left - all PE

all of them are
I'm finished, and just hanging around because it's this or washing the car ;)
which ones have you got left?
pe4/8
3 x pe6/21
P + mythical woodland being
i was monkeyinjg and missed that -ty
pe6/21 (first) = of the male sexual organ
pe 6/21 (second) = pe + double cons + two vowels
pe 6/21 (third) = banner or flag
if the first one was a bit vague, try pe + anagram of something you bang (sorry, couldn't resist keeping it sexay ;) )
think that made it worse not better LOL
to refuse to believe something true is to be in de****, change the first letter.
ty
it's too easy to ignore that bottom P, and that's the one you want to be using for the pe6's
ty for those, just the last 2 PE 5/12s for fieworks
type of pasta, and change the end vowel for the previous one.
have the pasta
oops, you're changing up to the next one, not down to the previous one, but same idea.
there are three pe 5/12s that have the same structure and vowel endings.
hello friends! speaking of naughty words, raise your hand if you tried to enter "mofo"
fireworks
Hey Trif - not in this grid, but I have before.
congrats, Glantarell
is that a naughty word in the US trif? never heard of it
ty for all your help city
yw, I didn't enjoy finishing up the pe/pi's at all, so happy to help out.
it's sort of a shortened form, glanterell....
oh, connected with that nice warm thing you hang around your neck and put your hands in?
Right, I'm going to wash the car, myself and any innocent passers-by. See you all :)
aah, forget i spoke - just googled it
um. no. connected to your female parent, and then a very horrible word. (-er form)
enjoy the sunshine while you're washing city
so sorry to have brought that word into your consciousness, really, I am! I was just thinking it was funny, is all.....
i am off to make some art

i have the o word and it isn't an of 7, although i did type in an of 7 that isn't taken in the grid
that's what i keep trying too montreal, but it isn't taken
its an of5
used that word throughout my career in computer science - it is so a word "sigh"
my guess is that it is offline and it doesnt accept it as a word, but lickety does....is there only 114 words today?
yes just 114
114 yes
then there is no of7....cause I have the other 114
tx kalea for of5
congrats ouw
wd ouwa
pitiful 1st pass 67/47 - BBL - happy babblings all and take care "POOF"
oh, just found de7/44 (extension of de 4/8) - a lot better now at 68/46 ;-) "REAL POOF"
bye montreal enjoy your day
Hi gang. Looking at today's grid, I am thinking that the grids do reshuffle from previous grids- this is the second day we have had the iff combo.

hi Mom
((Une, JBV)) good morning
ty. I got them. Sarah Palin threw me for a loop.
hello mom
Sarah Palin throws a lot of people for a loop :-)
((TO)) good morning, how are you feeling?
You're right, Mom. What an embarassment!
:-)
anyone have a clue for the n in the 4th column please?
mom is that the puppy you are puppysitting?
Sarah Palin in the Kim Kardashian of politics.
yes TO, that is Annie
No political talk allowed. Me bad. See you all later.
OH Gramma, please don't go.
Really? People have talked politics here a lot!
have to go out for a bit - see you later, and good luck with the grid, everyone
Thanks, Mom; but, I have a ton ofthings to get done. Poof
bye jbv
We aren't discussing politics we are discussing people
bye bye jbv
I didn't know there was a rule about it.
good one, kaplan! LOL
Are we allowed to discuss the Kardashians?
LOLOL!!
we may be allowed but do you ant to?
I would rather discuss the Kardashians than Sarah.
good point.
Do you think that Donald Trump and Kim Kardashian would make a good presidential ticket?
I mean, why not?
equally capable and politically astute
and both profit from non-authentic body parts
el5 was in the grid yesterday too.
we've been getting a lot of "repeats," eh?
back in a mo -- grabbing a coffee
yep.
i think the letters move along some type of sxis which is why there is always a word from the previous day in today's grid
axis. the grid generator algorithm
You mean there is Intelligent Design of grids?
I just thought of a weird sci-fi concept. God is finally discovered...
some may vie it that way. some may say it is the random movement of hte universe
and it is learned that God is an extremely sophisticated computer...
and therefore all of the universe was created by computer- and is virtual.
hello everybody
Hi. I am just onto a concept here.
hi ruby
God will have to be called i-god.
enfe e,
hello TO
{{kaplan}}
:)
i think it's been done. i read speculative fiction for tw oyers straight, just went on a tear
I want a Tibetan Mastiff. 180 lbs but gorgeous; there was a phoso in the NY Post on 17 March
just get a pony
Everything has been done. But everything in sci-fi eventually becomes reality...
but the one what sold for 1.5 MILLION was so beautiful!
looked like a big red jowly chow chow
This physicist named Kurzweil was talking about how we have the technology to implant blood-cell sized computers into the body-
actuallykap, everything i spec fiction IS real; the themes and morla dilemmas common to all types otf fiction
and we will be able to download full dossiers on people from just looking at them.
which is why it is really great reading
now fantasy fiction is another story. i do not care for that.
what is an example of spec fiction?
science fiction is the more common term
Oh.
but the community felt it had an image problem, thiking it was more about the human struggles and themes rather than the technoligy. not just little green men taking over etc
they probably call it something entirely different now
clue for an 7/32
ok i found this: "Speculative literature is a catch-all term meant to inclusively span the breadth of fantastic literature, encompassing literature ranging from hard science fiction to epic fantasy to ghost stories to horror to folk and fairy tales to slipstream to magical realism to modern myth-making -- and more."
an7 she of green gables and that which seals a pot
woman's name with the vowel at end + prevaricated: **e*
he7?
ty BR and Bonker
in the know: he* + fuel rating: oc****
thx BR
good bye kap and all

Congratulations, godthaab
Thanks.

We were talking about Trump and Palin being the no*****
Sorry- no*****s for the Rupub ticket
yeah, i wasn't getting those clues
you are kidding, right?
o, i see, i just got it, duh
It could happen.
hi Babblers.. ty for the clue, Kap.. needed that (-:
it's a horrible thought!
inept
speaking of which.....doh!
sorry
lol, waves thanks to ruby in PB
Yes, Ruby, that is what they are, and you can walk into the PB
But I don't know what the fare is
in5 exactly.
I'm out of it today, usually play in the AM but it's been a bad day all around, except for the weather
no excuses, I'm off to the PB
We were talking about in5 no7, so it was inevitable.
They speak pi6.
or in5 players like me
And many people who are mo6 will like them
Because mo*** makes the world go round
are you talking about rev. mo**'s cult?
Close- remove an o, add pt
'morning
aah, I had that
And a find morning it is, welk
hi welke
ooh- I'm glad I had that typo- I would be right in the PB.
In fact, I think I should join Ruby anyway.
looks like a nasty little grid
I found half right away and have probably hit the wall
will putter for a while
hi welki.. it is not so bad once you get "into" it
stats on the top e?
we're in the middle of another snow storm here .. april and it looks like a blizzard outside
ed 5/12
no, welki, try to imagine spring
the sun will come out- tomorrow
don't forget the goose, ruby
tomorrow, tomorrow
Roman senator
ed5*
it's only a day away
tomorrow, tomorrow, I love you, tomorrow..
I have a question, if your husband wished you dead in the morning, would you still make him dinner?
it sounds like a riddle, but, unfortunately, it isn't
maybe .. but a 'special' dinner
what's up with that guy? gheez
changing that miserable subject, does anyone remember the scene from "Dave" when Sigourney Weaver and Kevin Kline sang that and the policemn said "Your wife needs work."
<-- thinks it's time for ruby to update her passport, pack a back and head to visit her son (permanently)
pack a bag, too
maybe I'll load it up with butter, good for his cholesterol!
good morning everyone:)
{{crossy}}
hi there crossy
goooooooooooood morning, and a fi** one it is!
hi crossy
aloy, if it wasn't for the dogs and my garden, I would
any day on this side of the dirt is a good one:)
diggin in the dirt is so therapeutic
yanking weeds too
Yanking. That always sounds so onscene.
Obscene. Which reminds me of my dream last night, actually
h'mmm, the word does imply some hostility
Oh, do tell.
uh oh.....
I made friends with these prostitutes, and gave them my gold earring (which first they had stolen, but gave back to me because I was cool)
interesting.. where is our dream analyzer?
but there were also these lowlife guys and I smoked a really cheap cigar that turned my mouth all brown and full of gooey stuff
Hmm, befriending prostitutes. I can think of a holy man who did that. : )
Oh-my-god- a dream with cigars in it.
eeew
You know what Sigmund would say about that.
I can't believe I had a dream with cigars in it.
h'mm. verrrrrrrry interesting.
I would worry about the gooey stuff
((ruby)) reading back,i would tell the grumpy old fossil that he knows where the kitchen us and can make his own dinner cause you are too busy dying lol
wait, I'll fill my pipe
I wasn't gonna go there Sea.
sometimes a cigar is just a cigar lol
and I had to go home on the train- so I met my husband -and all these prisoners on bicycles rode by...
lol...couldn't resist Molly
I know. I repeat - I cannot believe my dream had cigars in it.
Prisoners on bicycles...oh my....this dream is full of interesting symbolism.
prisoners on bicycles? we def. need an expert..
it is amazing that you remember your dreams in such detail. Do you write them down (as a therapist?)
And prostitutes, and...
no, I don't but this was unusual. Prisoners on bicycles?
Prisoners and prostitutes and lowlifes, oh my!
I dream a lot, mostly wonderful ones, but only remember that they made me feel good AND usually have TV actoras and actresses in them
You been to see Charlie Sheen Kap?
I had gone to an art supply store in Dorchester (Massachusetts) to buy supplies for woodcuts
Prisoners on bicycles is easy. You have something locked up that you want to set free.
One of the prisoners had craaaazy eyes!
or you need a bike fixed
lol
really- I had a dream with cigars. When does that ever happen?
how did you know they were prisoners? were they wearing orange jumpsuits?
ok, now I won't go there
Sexual overtones with an element of freeing something locked up. Maybe you need to buy a slinky dress and take your husband out on the town. Let your wild side out.
sounds like salvador dali took over your sleep, mag.. would make a great mural
or take up cigars...
here's another sick part- we met a friend on the train (train!) who was doing handgestures to act out what the prostitutes were doing- and everyone on the train was laughing
omg rofl this keeps getting better and better
I knew they were prisoners because I recognized one of my former clients who tried to rob a bank and went to jail. That's real- not a dream
order up a strip-o-gram and tell the company to send a box of cubans along with her for when she does her routine
The cigar thing could be the obvious phallic symbol, or it could symbolize you "smoking the peace pipe with your internal naughty side (the lowlifes)"
A cigar is a cigar is a cigar.
Molly, you are good!
*Cues up Pink Floyd..."Have a cigar"*
I think the dream is telling me to stop babbling and get out there...
I was a psych major for three years. I dabble in dream analysis.
crossy fires up a cuban cigar and dives into da grid...sploosh
Do you really think people should write their dreams down? so incriminating.
Not unless they realize that dreams are full of symbols and seldom mean what they seem at face value.
just keep them in a private notebook
I shouldn't blog them, you mean?
I had a Freudian therapist who made me do that and it helped me remember them
*Cues up "Hand Jive" for the second song*
You got it Molly
Sick sick sick
but I tend to think their meanings are spurious and sometimes downright silly -- William Petersen, for God's sake!
Dreams are your subconscious speaking to you. It doesn't speak the same language we do.
no blog, Kap!
Kidding!
Ruby, you had a dream about William Peterson. Yowza!
bowlegs and all! but I didn't remember it, just that he was in it
too much \CSI I guess
He's bow legged? I never noticed.
totally
please tell me if I should make dinner or not!
No
soup and sandwich at the most
maybe if I act like nothing happened, he'll be embarrassed
Let him make his own
canned soup.. just lay out the sandwich ingredients, don't assemble
I missed the previous chat about dinner Ruby. If he's being an ass, I wouldn't cook for him.
good advice! thank you
I agree
That is rewarding bad behavior.
he should make his own, just point to the kitchen and say sorry, you are busy dying
<-- votes no. don't make dinner. dead people don't cook, they order take-out
sorry to be such a whiner, but I needed to talk about it
better yet, crossy
bye for now, wish me luck!
then after he has made his food, you go in and whip something eally nice up for yourself
something with wonderful aromas
I know, sweet potato pancakes with sour cream!
wow crossy...great plan
now you are talking;)
how are the pups, seaspray?
morning all! I think this grid could use a few more N's
was thinking liver and onions with bacon
morning dan
hi dan2
hi and bye dan, and it doesn't even except "hey no****, n0****!
if i talked like that to my wife, then demanded dinner, she would tell me to go to hell! lol
directly to hell, do not pass go, do not collect $200
indeed
my husband would know better than to ask
Oh jeeze Ruby. I just read back and saw what he said to you. Fix him dinner? I'd be packing his stuff and throwing it out in the front yard.
hell,if one day she made a a drink,i would fall out of my chair in shock
And if he didn't take it and go, I would pull and Angela Bassett from "Waiting To Exhale".
Is he still recouping from the dog attack?
not that it matters,my mrs is good with bathrooms and bedrooms and the kitchen is mostly my balliwick
bailiwick*
clue pls for of 7/52 I'm sweating a lot on this one
i think that's the word that's not supposed to be there
oh no!!
consensus is that it's "offline" but Enable won't take it . . .
fireworks.. yes, that is the one
congrats, aloy!!!
well done aloy
yeah I tried that too, I'll have to agree to leave it alone thanks for that
Is someone going to email lickety about "offline" . It is an extra word
and congrats aloy and hi everyone

howdy annie
hey, annie :-)

i have en + the end of a dog, annie
HI, LA...thanks! I havent seen you in a long while, how are you

Morning all.
good morning red
last no7?
hi red
dead? shirl
Morning all
bob! dude!
didn't realize that's a word, thxkje
think I have to list..I've run out of options
I feel not dead, btu very very tired. kje. I had such a horrible day yesterday.
sorry to hear that, red... I am done so today is a day of true rest
but i did pick up some plants yesterday that I will put in the ground today
yes I had a guy who had a Vfib arrest, in front of medics who shocked him back into rhythm and awakeness and the cardiologist didnt want to cath him.
well, he ended up having to do it about like 1 hour later, and he had a complete block of the LAD.
don't get me started on consultants... I have had my fill of stupidity for a while
What kind of plants kje? I just put my tomato plants in.
Ok I am done. lets talk plants! much more interesting.
dill, oregano, thyme, lemon thyme, basil
Ooo, sounds nice. Fresh herbs are wonderful.
oooh fresh dill and salmon
the lemon thyme smells divine
Yes, fresh dill is wonderful on fish.
i use dill a lot... i doubt if the 4 plants can keep up
kje.. I made butternut squash ravioli with sage butter and aged asiago
I also like to use with yogurt for the raita.
I love sage and butternut together! sounds good ru
I also made a mess of the kitchen and mrs. ru just about killed me until she ate the meal
that sounds great!
I'm trying to grow white sage, the kind you burn, from seed, but not having much luck.
I'm sure mrs ru wants to kill you a lot... yet you are still alive, so wouldn't worry much
Anyone who cooks like that can mess up my kitchen anytime.
<---had some close calls
you're better purchasing a plant, molly. white sage is difficult to germinate from seed
hi welk
hey kje
if you're using it for smudge, it's the best sage
en 6 anyone?
en + rump
or ass
or butt
or what you chase
or tushie
not you specifically of course
jeezus
*smacks head*

actually saw a live bird yesterday! had to sand there and listen to it sing...first robin of the season
and our geese are coming back;)..honk..honk..honk..
they've been hanging out here for the last week, crossy. pretty geese, but they'll move back on to you when our fields stop looking like rice paddies!
apparently that's an extra word in the list tommie. just ignore it
crossy throws open the front doo, looks up into the sky, hails the coming of spring and in a rich baritone voice belts out the song "circle of life" for the whole block to hear...lol
Hi Crossy?
howdy red
Hi Lilli and jes.
hi red
lots of geese here too. And robins and other birds returning too. It will be interesting seeing what happens with our birds now that we lost our huge maple tree
loss of a mature maple is a sad thing;(
oh sad nef, no maple.
hi again everyone
howdy mom
it was about 40 feet high and huge; must have been hit by lightening in a storm the beginning of winter. It was the shade tree for the house (on the SW side
((Crossy)) hello

HI Nef, so sorry to hear that
Hi Red

you will get one a day for 30 days;)
I got 63 left
I like that one, crossy
do these pants make me look fat?
here is my quote of the day, compliements of my sweetie: "That's the best revenge of all: Happiness. Nothing drives people crazier than seeing someone have a good life" - Chuck Palshniux
That is uestion number one. Number two is- what does the expression "hue and cry" mean?
not at all Kap
compliments*
nice quote Crossy
37 left.
never heard of "hue and cry", Kap and hello
Mom, I've always believed in that one!
Someone told me that the best way to respond to a person who is being a jerk is kindly and politely.
hue and cry means an alarm and a lot of yelling, kap
I do too, Nef.
Hi Jes
to set the chase on someone, usually.
Why hue?
uhm. i dunno. have to look that'un up. you didn't ask the etimology, just the meaning! :P
THe all-knowing-internets say that it's from the latin "hutesium et clamor" which means horn and shout"
ahhhhhhhhhhhhh.
I learned a lot about the Roman Senate when I looked that up earlier.
Kap, have you ever tried it? I always get a kick out of how a mean person can't handle a kind and polite answer to a nasty question. It really throws them for a loop
I looked it up too, Kap - (Hi everyone) and I don't think the Latin is the most likely - there's a French etymology from huer/cry or shout which is more probable
I have seen that first hand, Nef.
stops them in their tracks
HI ((JBV))
hi jbv :)
I would like to try it. No one has been randomly mean to me lately. But last year I got into an altercation with a store owner who was nasty to me because my rear bumper touched his front bumper when I was parking.
I felt really ashamed of myself.
What I should have done when he insulted me is say "have a really nice day, sir!"
He was just so mean and it pushed my buttons.
Kap, that was an accident. He shouldn't have gotten out of li**
Yetta sometimes goes nutty.
No- he was an ass.
But I fell to his level.
oh, not you, Kap
are you teasing me, mom?
no, Kap, I can't see you (just from what I know of you here) doing that
I know someone who comes on really nasty at times (maybe she's PMS-ing? she's usually really nice!) and it's like she's trying to start a fight. She gets right in my face and yells "why did you do ___?" and I always stop and listen to her and then say "let's look and see why I did do that" ans smile at her. She NEVER expects that every time it happens!
What- being nice or being an ass?
being an ass, Kap
I am a little oversensitive.
good for you Nef
:)
I am a late thinker, I can't come up with a comeback until the next day.
so you gotta get 'em ready in advance, mom :)
Oh- it is my chog persona.
oh I wish Jes
Kap, don't beat yourself up over that. He's probably always an ass and he just got to you that time. We are all capable of being asses at times (my daughter can push just the right buttons for me!)
Even Groucho wrote his adlibs in advance.
Whenever I drive past his store I think I want to throw a rock through the window.
I should really have sent a Get Well card.
I was taking a crochet sock class and I was having a really tough time with it and I had a sore finger to boot, that didn't help. Someone looks at me and said "What's your problem" in the nastiest tone. I said I didnt have one. But the next day I thought of a comeback.
I should have said, I have a sore finger, and put up my middle finger and ask her if she wanted to see it
heh. the easiest answer to that, is "you" :)
that gets a good rotf
though usually when people ask what my problem is, i ask if they want the list chronologically or alphabetically.
so now whenever I go to a class that she is going to be at, I always have a sore middle finger
that's good Jes
I will remember that
Kap; forgive yourself! HE doesn't remember it! People like that don't have a conscience
how true Nef
Mom! Hilarious!
I'm over it.
thanks Molly
and hello
this is slow going, I'll be back later. ((Hugs)) to all of you
any clues for that upper right singular O please?
not on and past tense
If a Mafia guy killed someone, he say he of5/24 him
DUH! THAT isn't a word in MY mind! Thanks! :-)
or what Kap would have liked to have done to store owner or I would have like to have done to the person at crochet class
:-)
LOL!
hey... anybody got opinions on good song to play at a memorial.
?
sec jess..i have one....
my favorite is "On Eagles' Wings"
What I want at my memorial- and I am not really kidding- is the Garland/Streisand duet of Get Happy/Happy Days are Here Again...
because it is very moving.
poignant
I'd cry on that one Kap.
Me too
Hello Babblers! I am here back from a long week of no Babbling.
Amazing Grace/My Chains are Gone by Chris Tomlin is a good memorial song
Only I'd be dead so I couldn't
Hi Mark and Jen

"In the Arms of the Angels" is a good one too. Hi, everyone!

nope nonna not a word
AH! It was BR!
Kap, I definitely will be at your service, singing along. I want "Spirit In The Sky" by Steppenwolf.
I think it's Norman Greenbaum. Or is that a different song?
If you sing at memorial, I will sing at yours.
Yeah, it is Greenbaum.
My memorial.
Norman Greenbaum had two songs that I know of- the other was "Canned Ham."
when i die and they me to rest, want to go to the place half undressed.alalallaa spirit in the sky
LOL
Go to the place undressed?
i want an irish type wake,no weeping,no wailing..i want a big party and pretty ladies in high heels dancing on my casket
you'll be cold
I have considered, roger miller's You can't roller skate in a buffalo herd.
unless i go to hell
or, mama said there would be days like this
i had a friend who wanted nothing but Christmas music at his memorial
here we go again with the mangled lyrics. "Like a virgin- touched for the 31st time"
lol@br
Sorry, I had to unpack for a couple of minutes. *Mark unpacks from college trips*
my AUnt who raised me was buried in a formal. She wanted it to be a party, so she dressed accordingly!
i want to be buried in my flannel pants and thermal, with books around me
you are too funny - I heard of someone who wanted to be buried in her pajamas - she said if she were going to sleep for eternity, she wanted to be comfortable
maybe it was you Ivesy :)
since I will be cremated, perhaps burning ring of fire
I'm looking for a lover who won't blow my brother She's so hard to find.
lol prob was jbv
At the cremation- "Light My fire" obviously.
and in a casket, whos that knocking at my door
ivesy, I hope your statement needed a comma before JBV, otherwise it looks like you're replying to Kap!
Of course, the cremation could continue for an eternity
Last name of a famous band member in the puzzle today!

Bye jes!

Crossy!
i think a very nice song for a funeral would be garth brooks, the dance
This is the dawning of the Age of Asparagus.
finished a while ago, I'm just here for the laughs - but I need to break for a while, see you later :)
I haven't found a word in 45 minutes.
See you later JBV!

good morning everyone :)
good idea crossy! i wanna be buried under a tree.
Hello cyber! How are you?
nef--it's about a 7 mile drive. first weekend that newdoc has been on her own, and turns out to be a doozy.
lol, Kap - guess what we had for dinner last night!
she's got 2 seizuring (probably toxicity) dogs in clinic, and a vomiting/diarrhea dog on the way.
hi mark
Yo.
blood, sweat and tears: and when I die
Tough way to start, jes! Good luck! My sis lives about 3 miles from her clinic.
My two favorite christian hymns are "Gladly, the cross-eyed bear", and Round John Virgin
This conversation is so...grim.
It needs to be more sullen.
the place right across the road was for sale, but i didn't really want people knocking on my door at all hours.
DH is bugging me; I guess we need to go Do some stuff today and I can't hang out in chog all day long. :-(
as is, i'm out in the middle of nowhere, and i've still had someone show up asking for "the vet lady"
silly DH! he should just join in! :)
and a cow too. guess i better go help out.
ok Nef. Are you leaving?
Why did the brain cell go to the other side of the brain? I don't know. It hadn't really crossed my mind.
:)
why did the chicken cross the road
my sister lives just past the edge of the north end of town and her clinic is about a mile south of town. As far as I know; no one has driven to their house yet (but there is a bar/roadhouse about 1/4 mile south of their house that is IN town; so maybe people get distracted aon their way? ;-)
To get him (or her) killed.
to go to your house,,,knock knock.. whos there,, the chicken!
a clue for the eo 6, please?
What do you get when you drop a piano down a mi** shaft?

i went to school with his niece
I am not sure of the title. It is fairly new.
she was the one who found him after he hung himself
That's so random.
Oh- that's intense.
love that first line "oh,i am just a student sir and i would only like to learn, but it,s hard to read from the rising smoke of the books that you like to burn"
Did you know her at the time?
she is now one of the foremost speakers in the country for gay and lesbian issues

I think the title is Phil Ochs: There But For Fortune
http://www.prefixmag.com/news/phil-och s-documentary-coming-to-us-theatres/47 385/
I must have missed it in NY
Asking handouts from the ladies while they criticize the lords/boasting of the murder of the very hands that pour/while the victims have to giggle for at least they are not bored..."
"And my shoulders had to shrug/ while I crawl beneath the rug and retune my piano."
I mean- wow- he took on the radical left and the plutocracy in one verse.
Watching the trailer, I think you will love the film

I don't try every day, and I do remember a few times when Lickety was offline, but I don't recall it EVER listing a word the puzzle itself ignores, particularly not THAT one!
How many Babblers are women over the age of 50?
It seems like the dominant demographic.

Hi all, back again. Needing clue for no7/40 please?

Hello all -- "offline" is the extra word in Lickety's list (he shows 115 words whereas the puzzle lists 114). And it's not in enable's miserable "dictionary" anyway.
Ye gads! Greek money? No wonder I never heard of it!
I don't have that either
TY, had asked earlier but no one knew.
I noticed that, sis ;-)
Note--I included offline in my earlier note because I found it so funny 8-)

Ah, another female over 50! Welcome aboard to the Red Hat Society!
Excuse me, Kap, but my hat is purple.
Personally I do not wear hats. Just saying.
Hiya soodle!! How is life in Ireland?
You know the Red Hat Society?
I do, Kap. I just don't wear actual hats :-)
Neither do I.
Hello (((Jilly))) Life is just fine here, thank you. Spring here has sprung, and the place is lovely. Daffodils and nesting birds abound :-)
Sounds lovely, Soodle! We should have some blooms in another month or so, the way things are looking (well, I do have crocuses but that's about it)
You could say Ma(red)hatma Gandhi.
And Kap... I resent you calling me an over-50.... I am 50! Not over it or under it..... Just a nifty fifty.
22 to go...
:)

The first car I remember as a kid was a '58 Chevy...yellow with HUGE ta4fins...
I saw an elderly lady the other day with a bright yellow hat on. She was doubled over with arthritis, but her hat was at a jaunty angle, abd I thought to myself... I wanna be like her in 25 years....
I'm gonna be doubled over with arthritis.
So if I buy a yellow hat...

Ambien.
Soodle, I really enjoyed the last "funny".....I sent it to most all of my friends.
I saw an elderly lady in a purple coat once. I went right up to her and told her how amazing it was.
I agree, Jillyjill.
I know an old lady who swallowed a fly...
and a little old lady from Pasadena.
Now all we need is crossy or ruru to really feed off Kaplan!
Little old lady hoooooooo
Feed off me? Bad mental image there.
rewrite: Feed off Kaplan's entries
Molly? Al n' Yetta's television set?
Kaplan is a bad boy.
I must go feed my face (Cherrios) breakfast..brb
must toddle off too in a minute, any last minute clues needed?
You all missed my dream with the cheap cigars.
Hmmm cigars? Was Bill Clinton in it?
Their picture is blown. I don't think they mention what kind of set it is
No- but there were prostitutes and trains. It was very interesting. It's in the chog about 9 or 10 this morning.

I remember Yetta yearned for Elliot Ness
Elliot Ness- Meet the Press- what's My Line...

Two of them. One is a person up for an award, the other means things that are not alive.
I know the dates are different in the States, but tomorrow is Mother's Day here. Happy Mothers Day to all Moms on Babble!
Hello Babblers! I am back from a long week of no Babbling.
Well Happy Mother's Day to you Soodle. I hope your brood treats you like a Queen. Ours is not until May.
H
Thanks, Soodle, that is very sweet of you.
Hiya Mark
Same with me, molly.
ty molly it was the 2nd one for firewords
How are you, soodle?
And a happy day for you too.
WTG dan!
I am good, thank you, Mark. Eagerly anticipating breakfast in bed and no arguments tomorrow. (Yeah right!)
BBL
Sheesh - Mark Jones =The Scarlet Pimpernel. I've bee trying to catch him to find out where he is from....
His flag changes more frequently than I can keep track of..
Well, he always has the St. Louis cardinals in his icon, so maybe St. Louis?
They seek him here, they seek him there.....LOL
How is your Dad now, Sue, that he is now a Nonagearian sp?)
Oh no. I am a chog-murderer. Mae Culpae.
Or maybe theres nobody out there?
I'm here, Soodle. Brought my ceral with me.
Oh, thank Goodness, Gape. For a whle I thought I was taking to myself. (Not for the first time...)
HA HA!
Sorry, Soodle, I was remembering that I had brought mountains of grading home with me for the weekend and that I really ought to start working on it. Fortunately that only lasted about 5 minutes :-)
LOL
Anyway, my dad is doing really well, and is settling into his newly single life quite cheerfully. He's kind of an old curmudgeon anyway.
How is your step-mom doing, Sue?
Not well, Soodle, last I heard she'd had a small stroke and was back in the hospital. That was several days ago and I haven't had any further updates.
I love the word curmudgeon !!
E
Soodle, the golf Masters Tournament is going on now, I live about a quarter mile from the course...traffic is HORRIBLE. People come from all over the world for this every year. The grounds are beautiful....you can probably get a view on TV. When we moved here in '77 I found out they needed someone in the accounting department, and so I got to get onto the grounds to get the the office....of course I didn't know any one here at the time and I didn't get the job...but seeing the grounds was awsome.
By Golly, Sue, What goes around, comes arond!!
well, I feel bad for her, soodle, she really fell apart and I wonder if she might not have had some premonition that something was seriously wrong. But who knows?
WOW, Gapeach. The very same thing happened here around the time of the Ryder Cup. It was crazy.
And Sue..the very same thought crossed my mind. I wondered if she had some premonition.............
Late in life separations perplex me. I'd think after all those years, all things had been worked through. Guess not.
Oh My. Time I wasn't here. A hot date awaits. (OK, maybe not HOt, but, at this stage I am prepared to settle for luke warm..
Soodle struts it out on the town. Have fun.
ooh, have a great time, soodle!
Have a great time, Soodle.
OK, I sent a text to my stepbrother and he responded; she is doing better. Whatever that means. She is also grumpy, which is probably a good sign.
That is why I don't like texting. Not enough information.
Yeah, I don't know why he doesn't want to call, it was a problem from the hospital but shouldn't be from the rehab center (although I don't know where she is, either)
Throughout this whole story you have told us Sue, it has seemed like he has an agenda.
My stepbrother, you mean? That is certainly my dad's suspicion, and he may be right. I am trying not to prejudge in the absence of facts (and he and I have always been cordial to each other) but it does seem odd otherwise.
Yes, I meant the stepbrother. His actions just seem odd and my gut feeling is there is some underlying reason for what he's done that you don't know yet. Just my Irish instinct.
Yours and my dad's (who is also about half Irish) :-) . I just hope he doesn't hurt her in the process.
Meanwhile I finally found the he7 after thinking it must be some variant of that word, since I couldn't see that it was actually in the grid :-/
I knew it. I knew your Dad had Irish in him. His picture reminds me of a leprechaun.
The rest is mostly Danish, I think.
The Irish and the Danes are both very whimsical people. And your Dad looks whimsical.
Well, he can be, although he is also quite stubborn and opinionated (and intelligent). Of course, I have a rather biased view :-)
Okay, my son and I are off to have dinner with his grandparents. Hope everyone has a nice evening.
I am done! I have fireworks! fi 6/27 was my last word
bye, Molly!
Oh and hello everybody! I was babbling quietly today.
yay, min!
Should've saved my last word for later on. Now what?
had to reload to see your purple aluminum screws, min.
Just refresh page, that usually does the trick uusue2.
lol, min, I try to stretch the grid out myself (20 left but not hurrying through them)
that's what I meant, min, refresh.
Hello everyone! I have just reached half way and I think It may be time for an early dinner.
hi, red!
How are you uusue and Minver?
good, red!
I take it your dad is going about well on his own now?
I am well redturtlehead.I just finished the puzzle and now I am working on a story of clues to post later on.
Oh Nice Minver, I still need 54... sooo.
yes, he's doing great, red. Pretty much back to where he was before he broke his leg. Still walks with a cane outside but that's about it.
good to hear!
now, I have quite a bit of junky food, and must decide which to consume.
what are the choices?
also third pe 6/21? my last...
pe 6/21 rhymes with John's (of the Beatles) last name
ok i swear i tried that! thank you min, fireworks!
huh, thought I tried that too! Thanks, min! And congratulations, Leslie!
Has anyone got any clues for the of7 please
Congratulations LeslieAnn on fireworks! Good for you
don't have it yet, jax
There's no of6 word JaxH. It is extra word on the list.
jax, it's an extra clue on lickety's list. it doesn't exist here, just an of5
Thanks fireworks for me then!
an 7/32 please
woman's name + jar top, jeff
ty
nice work jax!
an7/32 is girl's name plus an eye*** protects your eye
Congratulations JaxH on your fireworks!Good for you
yay, jax!
i always have trouble with worms lol
:-) wasn't sure whether to give a definition or a deconstruction, jeff
Oh thanks for the an 7 clue.
Oh Hi Leslie, the choices were Ramen noodles, a frozen pizza or a chicken pot pie.
I chose the pot pie. which may be the most calorie.
I would eat the pizza, red :-)
I am struggling to eat anything healthy. though I did just eat like a quarter of a bag of spinach...so got my veg in.
thanks to SO I had sorghum with apple, a few black-eyed peas, and no-nitrite ham for breakfast. It was good :-)
uusue that sounds lovely. really!
I have been debating making some sort of sweetened barly type mash for breakfast.
can i have a clue for of 7?
my SO has celiac disease, so he does all the cooking to make sure we don't eat anything bad for him
the of 7 is the extra word in lickety's List
oh haha...i was so confused
thanx
I think offline is the word, but no matter
offline
aahhh i see...weird
Tommie, the tile stats showed only one "o" word. You can stop looking when you finish finding the the number to grey the letter tile (s)
BR, if he's not pro he doesn't have the tile stats.
I am done with grid so now I'll ai 4/5 you with a story of clues. Felt in5/12 at doing the grid today so I sent for my monkeys. When I sent for them they tried to fl 4/7.I he 4/5 them by their ta4/4s and dragged them on their he 4/5s back to my house. They li 4/5 to me and said that they were sick from food poising, but I didn't believe them. Then they were very de7/44 and refused to help.No4/4 of them would help.I told them the grid was small and would not en6/18 a lot of work since I had already found most of the words, but they still refused to help. I was so mi6/42 at my monkeys I wanted to choke the li 4/7 out of them. But instead I said, "fi 4/7! I will do the rest myself!" They le 4/5 up on their feet and fl 4/7 left me making a beeli 4/4 for the road & they ran down the la 4/4 to be with their friends in the pi 4/5 trees. Those monkeys of mi 4/5 are such a pain! But that's just my opi6/21. I'd like to kick their butts to the mo4/5!Now that I have le 4/4 you a hand with clues, I'm off to go eat dinner at the di4/5r. I hope you have obta4/4ed some words from my story.I'll be back later sometime before the fl 4/8.
Many pros do not see the correlation.
hi folks. Min how do you do that?
Very cleverly, peri :-)
Hello BR and peri and thanks minver, I did get a few more words! 46 left.
Hello, HT. See any interesting birds or flowers lately?
No luck on the birds, but did see some very very nice irises this morning when running.
you?
The geese are honking their way south
spring is springing out all over.
Hi all. Min thanks for the story.
No news of cranes sightings.
Rabble, shouldn't the geese be heading north this time of year?
I hear them often...but dont see.
The river crest is a ways off
Yes, I misspoke. Ignore me.
ahhI ttally missed it entirely.
and suddenly the grid is coming to a grinding halt for me...
Are you avoiding injuries, HT?
I have been doing well so far BR. I am going to see an ortho on Monday but for some chronic thing. I have a new trainer, so I need to be a bit careful.
Thank you for asking! are you walking with the poles?
I will start again when the snow is gone.
so hard for me to believe you still have snow.
The snow is good. A slower rate of melting makes flooding less likely.
Yes, another big flood like the last time would be terrible.
We shall see.
Time to go. Be well.
take care BR.
bye, BR!
is there a list today?
yes, lickety has one, cos
tyvm :)
i may meet up with that list soon. down to 38 left, but missing the big ones.
hi y'all. clue for the n fourth column for nbt?

Uusue alwyas knows the sciency ones!!!
lol, red, it is what I do for a living after all...
This grid is made for Sue, seems half of them are made-up science ones! Hello all
hi, lynxxx, unfortunately I am a physicist and don't know many biology terms, so a lot of them are lost on me anyway :-)
hi Lyn
Hi Lyn
Does anyone have a clue for the first pi6? The one just before the short feathers
pi6,39. I meant the first pi6,21.
pi6.39 to alke a lot of pi**** or nonsense. like mu**** or drown out sound
ty lynn. I have that. I need the next pi6,21
I need the one before the feather.
pi*s & needles & you don't have to make a sc*** about it
ty lyn That is fireworks for me.
Congrats!!
yay, wht!
Does anyone need a clue before I go reheat some dinner?
whooo hoooo wht!!
in 5/12 please
neve rmind
Do not feel in5,12 because you could not find that one.
It means not skillful
Yum, dinner at Longhorn Steak House on the ex in-laws is a great way to spend a Saturday evening.
The other in5 is like the teary vegetable.
ex in-laws - don't you mean outlaws?
Well, I would, but we are on pretty friendly terms. There is a lot of water under the bridge since my ex, their son, died.
clue for the en6?
en + dog's appendage
en + what a dog wags
ty, wht and molly
yw, lbd. I owe you a lot of clues.
oh that was obvious, just a term a dear friend used for her 'outlaws' that she remained close to.
evening, all. I'm sorry to interrupt - I'm Frank, Jesse's (Nancy Boy's) partner. I've seen the page on babbler's anonymous with all your lovely contributions to him, and I wanted to say a quick thank you...
Hi everyone, nice to meet you Frank. I am so sorry for your loss
((((Frank))) I miss him so much. He was such a vibrant spirit.
of7 please?
hi, Frank! I returned to Babble after Jesse passed, so I never knew him, but I can tell from the reactions of the other babblers that he was a very special person. You must miss him very much.
Hello Frank. He was a sweet guy, we miss him too
of7 is an extra on Lickety Cos
hello Frank!!
Frank, I hope you are leaning on friends and loved ones to get you through this. I know you must be struggling.
thanks lyn
thank you, all. some of your names I've heard before, from him - it's nice to 'meet' you, finally.
I have a thank you for you Frank. Thank you for making Jesse feel loved. That is a rare gift and from what he told us, it meant the world to him.
pi 6/39 please?
I've got to go. Frank, feel free to stop by again. The chat is nice and the game is fun.
pi6.39 clue @ 5.43
that's so kind, Molly. He was indeed very loved, and I feel very privileged to have had him by my side for even this short amount of time.
Frank, your Jesse made me laugh more times than I can count. Even when he was in the hospital. That's what I meant by "he was such a bright spirit". I'm glad you two found each other.
fireworks
Congrats Cos!
yay, cos!
ty all for clues
first pe6/21 (after the jail)?
pe6.21 like your ge**** host (insert extra vowel into jail)
thanks, lyn! Fireworks for me!!
Congrats!
me too! bye all
He was, Molly :) even up until the very end, he always tried his best to remain positive. It only changed in the final few days, when he wasn't really "there" - he never wanted any of us to worry.
congrats Cos
He was a good soul Frank. If someone can convey that "across the electrons" on an internet message board, they must have a lot of light to share.
bye bye (((Lynxxx)))
ok, I am off. Very nice to meet you, Frank! I only wish I had known Jesse....
bye bye ((uusue))
I agree, Molly :) and it's nice to have someone else say it..
Nice to meet you too, Uusue - take care
halfway for me and I am calling it a night Frank, it was a pleasure to meet you. Jesse was a sweetheart. ((Hugs)) to all of you
chat hasn't been the same since Jesse has been gone. miss him terribly.
I hope you're taking good care of yourself Frank. It's hard to live through a loss like this. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
I can imagine, Good Enough. That was the first thing that struck me when he was gone - our flat was absolutely silent.
Thank you, Molly - I'm trying my best. You all seem like very lovely people. I'm glad he knew you...
Anyway, I'll get going - but thanks everyone for their kind words, and also for being there for him. Take care of yourselves.
You too Frank.
Hi again! We have our grandson now; probably won't finish today's grid!
congrats nef!
Frank, if you are still around, please know that a lot of people here miss NancyBoy terribly
oh just reading back... indeed echoing nefs statement.
And our thoughts and prayers are with you now
Oh-oh. BIG crash in the other room; but now silent (no one is hurt) Gotta go check
bye nef. good luck.
oh dear, I missed Frank. I miss Nancy Boy very much and would have wanted to say hello to Frank.
oh! i just missed frank. :( molly, just wanted to say thankyou for your note...
A table leaf fell over. I store them behind a door and the kidlet went crashing through it; knocking the leaf down
Just popped in and saw Frank had been on. Wish I also could have told him how very much Jesse meant to me!
Whew Nef...I was holding my breath
I guess I need to go play with Ronnie. He'll be 2 years in amonth; and he's hitting the terrible twos already
Oh no...even though I didn't know Nancy Boy, he sounds like the nicest person. Wanted to express my condolences to his partner.
BBL after he's in bed!
NB was a bright shining light who never let anything bring him down.
Or bring anyone else down for that matter.
mo5 pls
finito!
congratulationslbd.
mo6 without the last letter
WooT WooT WooT Dawg!!!
looks like frank has posted on the page that was set up for Nancy Boy.
the last 10 or so were rather odd and twisty.
currency, but change the last two letters for vowels
agreed dawg
founde the mo5 and mo6 ty
One of the things I admired about NB was his way of dealing with things. I was here one day when someone made a disparaging remark about him. He didn't say anything then. But the next time he was on with that person, he confronted him and told him that what was said, hurt his feelings. That takes some guts.
that's nasty. it sounds as if he was coping with a lot - how horrible of somebody to be mean like that.
hmmm, I think I know of whom you speak, but I didn't get to see NB's response...
and fireworks. good night folks I am going to take my very tired body to bed.
Woot WooT WooT red...sweet dreams
i miss him dearly. i would have loved to have been able to tell frank that.
And I am heading off to fix dinner for hubby and me. BBL
whoooo hoooooo RED!!
EvaNadine - frank has posted on the page that was set up for condolences on his partner's passing. perhaps you can get in touch with him that way, if it's possible?
I see I am coming into the end of a conversation about Nancy Boy- I had fun telling him about Paul Lynde and other interesting icons- what a nice person NB was...
Eva, if you are still here, here is the link to the Babbler's Anonymous condolences thread. I imagine Frank will check in there again. http://tinyurl.com/3e48xuy
thankyou, silver. i think i may actually have franks email address, but it would have been nice to actually been able to chat with him real-time, yknow? instead of exchanging emails...
Ah, I understand - yes, of course.
Eva, if you have Frank's email address, perhaps the two of you can hook up in instant messenger. I think he might have a MSN messenger account. If not, maybe the two of you could set some up so you could chat.
mayhaps. i havent wanted to invade his space, so i have kinda stayed back a step...
I'm guessing that his posting here, and at Babbler's Anonymous means he's ready to talk. Can't hurt to ask, and say if not now, maybe later. I can tell you from experience that an understanding ear is always appreciate.
appreciated.
yes, maybe i will send him a message. :)
hi all.
hiya Jes!
how goes, dawg?
all is well here, Jes. how about you?
evening. diving in.
well, my day off ended up being a day of at work from 10 - 4. other than that, not too bad.
hi weed! it's an easy one for you.
howdy, feather
got the de7 for my third word, yay
an easy one? are you being sarcastic at feather or am i just brain dead?
easy for feather, her monkeys are well trained
lol
the rest of us mere mortals will just have to plug along
ah, i see.
ha, i'll be looking for clues soon, i'm sure
only for the really obscure one or two, feather. ;-)
hah, just tried "foof"
heh. well, i'll need clues for a bunch more than two! :P
yup tried foof a moof, and foon. never know when something weird will take! lol
no kidding!
hm. 2 no7s *ponders*
oohh, pondering too now
one would be death or dead
no7, undead
yeah...i was long from trying that. thanks
the other no7 is one who runs for an office
i was closer to that... nominal didn't fit though
ohh, ty
any clues for the of 7 plese
it's not real, teach
lickety added an extra word to confuse you
thnx - now i can stop looking
i think it's offline, but not sure.
i hate vowel words
i'm already confused enough - spent afternoon at 4 year olds birthday and the evening with teenagers with a pizza nd bowling party - tired out
doesn't accept offline - not in dictionary
me too feather. i'm blind to the vowel words
i know. but i think that lickety's list takes it, and babble doesn't.
so if you're using lickety, you'll have a blank there when you're done here.
E words make me crazy
exactly halfway!
dang. i guess her monkeys are well trained! she just started...
yay feather, i'm just behind you but hitting the wall
yeah, i had to work to reach halfway. now trying for nbt, then will list.
wahoo, got nbt!
gotta list, getting sleepy in between looking, lol
long day, weed?
just busy cleaning and doing laundry.
that's a full time job with 2 little boys!
yeah, no kidding! lol
i can never spell this one, but is the hawaiian word for deck here?
sorry, i'm not sure what word that is
you are probably thinking of lanai?
ok, not here. lanai.
yup joey
an7 please?
hi joey
I would like to be on a lanai right now!
i thought that was a flower... heh

down to11
you've caught up to me
cool.
go Weed, go Jes!
8 now
i'm sure feather will beat me to the end
9
not really racing. fighting having my forehead hit the keys. or getting whiplash from falling backwards!
ta7,36?
well, that just means i might stand a chance! If you're at your best (or average!) you'd just trounce me handily
ta + mouth part + pt
ty
thanks, dawg!
i hate to ask for 6/18s, but i'm not seeing them. en and eo 6/18 please?
en + wagging part of dog
sheesh. ty.
thanks :)
eo6 long time + *** Flemming
again, ty
i had a hard time finding en6 too
eosin and eons are my only two eo words i know right off the bat
have you had your spring break yet, Weed?
nope, not yet
next week school, the week after is break. except, we have to come in the friday of break because we had too many snowdays.
how about the 2 p6s after the tree before the ear?
in6/21 please?
bummer about having to come in, but better than lasting into the summer
pi + hawaiian goose
thankee
no, i'd MUCH rather she just tacked that day on at the end!
people have lost thousands of dollars on vacations already booked.
in + what happens when the egg meets the sperm?
lol, i was going for a different L word, but got it
the other pi is like an opi****...everyone has one
lucky? LOL
the meaning of li4/7
you ARE tired!
oh crap, i should have known that pi word! thanks.
well, it does fit your clue!
yes it does. i'll have to work on that one. :-)
ha!
he7?
greek prefix for 7 + chemical ending
pe6/21, after the pe5 colony?
or greek prefix for 7 and half a hawaiian goose
thankee again!
add a vowel after the third letter, weed
ty
on my last one
go weed!
fireworks!
yay jes!
whooooo hoooooo JES!!!
last word was a stupid 4 letter word.
doncha just hate that?
and done here too
yay feather!
whooooo hoooooo WEED!!! now go to bed!
last word i couldn't see, just typed it on a guess. only saw the path later.
lol good idea
sleep sweet!
i do that often! just know it's there, just can't eyeball it.

LOL...oh ru...
good plan they need extra fuel!
they'll probably protest that in Afganistan too
Wonder if that idiot realizes he is responsible for the UN deaths.....
they should be put in jail for that
absolutely the stupidest thing I've heard in years
Fear is such a deadly emotion....
it's like throuwing gasoline on a burning fire for extra heat
my brother actually did that once
how come the christian churches have so many dumbshits for priests in the south
the fire traveled up the gasoline stream and blew up the can in his hands
My hubby used to do that with our grill....that's why we have a gas grill now....lol
it singed off is eyebrows and eyelashes
geezus are they both priests?
ouch
he blamed me because he wanted to watch tv and I refused to burn the trash for him--his chore
Actually, Pastor or Reverend is the term ru....

nice uu
We have season tickets. They are really quite excellent.
so my poor sister's email got highjacked but I knew it wasn't her because she never would call a webpage "nice"
lol, jmc!
what can i say my mother always said that people only used the word "nice" when they could think of anything nice to say!
(i do not subscribe to my mother's tenet)

just in from SOnny Ladreth cocert
hey, snags went pro! that's sony landreth
was it good?
yes. but we were working it for the radio station
i did not catch that snags went pro--the grey head fooled me
just googling him, TO, sounds like a fun concert.
if you love blues and slide guitar, he's your man
and the owner was so nice to us, he told us to order anything we ewanted including drinks
cool!
cool TO
snap
certainly did not expect that.
that is unusual
we got a lot of folks to sign up for our email list. and met cute guys too
it's all good :)
cute guys are good especially with similar tastes in music
yes. and older ones too
even better!
you guys are so funny!!!
huh? moi?
gray heads is literal in some cases
:)

k, bored now. Hi, uusue, TO, jmc, et al
ok so then i don't feel so bad abnout having the walking penumonia bug...hey seain
hi dc
hi, dc!
sorry you are bored--where is that baby when you need her! lol
wow, yall are perky :) i'm awake due to coffee earlier. The pita with peanut butter, nutella, and blackberry/blueberry jam may be a contributing factor
bot lordy was that sandwich tasty
well he WAS boired...but now he will be entertained ;)
k. i'm bit wired myself
lol well we aim to please!
ooh, that does sound good, if a little overly sweet
there was enough PB that the sweet was cut, and the jam was not very sweetened.
i make nutella panini as a treat now and again. total heaven
help with the li5/12 please
me, too but I need to go turn in.
i should too but only have 19 left
sort of like fats in your blood, jmc, but with a different final consonant
good night everyone.
night, TO!
sweet dreams, TO
bye TO dream about some of those guys! lol
thanx, uusue
nomi
nimo
fats in my blood?
good try dc
a li5 panel, yes
looking for something in particular, dc?
nope. i'm not even halfway, just typing away. mostly wanted the social, i think.
ty ty
well we are a social group for sure
i learnt last night that a street in a neighborhood that i used to live in is not a dead end like i thought it was.
indeed so, jmc :)
oh?
indeed. I only finished because I was online at the fl** last night and got halfway between midnight and 1 am
and how did you learn this, dc?
there appears to be an extra word in lickety so that means i think there will be no lickety tomorrow
yes, 20th Rd N in Arlington goes from N Woodstock St to Lee Hwy crossing N Woodrow St. a friend lives on 20th Rd N on the block i thought dead-ended and she disabused me of the that.
how was it you made that error?
i thought it ended before it hit Lee Hwy/29. I was mistaken.
i mostly did not drive when i lived there, and though i walked it a lot, i just never noticed the through street
oh okay that makes sense
he5?
I woke up and you're all leaving?
brown hair dye, jmc
frigging peri-menopause.
who's leaving, kap?
Ha. Just wait til you hit the real thing.
Oh, hi.
oh duh! ty
i am not leaving
This is feeling like the real thing. I am in a constant state of bloat. are any guys on here?
i'm still here, kaplan, good evening.
dc is
Oh, I'll spare you. Kaplan is supposed to be a guy anyway.
Even though Yetta is taking over.
eh, you won't say anything i've not heard from my mother or other friends. gripe away
i think you lack of guyness has been outed a long time ago kap
3 " periods " in a month? Is that even legal?
sadly it is.
I'mm in a constant state of bloat, nothing fits me, and every time I turn around, it starts again.
too long ago to remember
go see a doctor
Who designed this crappy system?
get a hyst....best thing I ever did
get a hyst....best thing I ever did
swinging back through for a few minutes. anybody need clues?
hi jes
Really?
mine got so they were lasting a good two weeks each. I figured it was nature's way of making me grateful for menopause when it finally came.
cant sleep....so thought I would stop in for a bit
menopause is not as bad as everyone says
I saw a doctor when things started getting weird- but there was a pattern to that weird- and now it's intensifying.
hi river welcome back
heh. i've been on hormone supplements for nearly a year now. "pre-menopausal" at 33! how fun is that?
eat tofu kap
really
I don't know if it is or not- but I think the shit is hitting the fan, if you will excuse the expression.
I do eat tofu.
my first doc said it was natural and I would have to deal with it.....so did for several year.... found another doc (women) that said NO this is wrong....had a hyst...and happy ever after.....
I had a hysterectomy too, not my first choice but family history of ovarian cancer and big fibroids made it necessary. Because of the ovarian cancer risk I never went on hormones. It wasn't that bad.
lots
last pi5?
I'm 55 and it's just getting wacky. I don't have a dr appointment till later this month. I did have an ultrasound a couple of months ago- it looked normal.
oh the grid...is that why we are here???....lol
type of pine i think it is, jmc
sorry dont have it
with ñ in Spanish
ty dc
assuming the one i have is the last pi5
Sue, I always get thrown off my that picture of your dad- I think it's a guy here.
tasty nuts, they grew all over the place in New Mexico.
i think it's the one that gives us pignoli
but that does net the pb for you
grid?
I am 53...had my hyst at 46....still have ovaries so no issues with hormones
oh, cool, i didn't have the generic tree :)
it is a very short and twisted pi** tree usually high in the mon=untains
lol, kap, you should talk about pictures!
lol kap!
dcs...you must be loving this conversation....
You don't think I'm a little old Jewish lady who chain smokes?
eh
river, a huge percentage of my friends are female, no biggie.
Dcs- when hormones become an issue, just get out of the way.
I had the complete hyst, ovaries and all, so it was menopause in a flash. But I was most of the way there anyway so not too much of a shock.
LOL kaplan
kap, I was remembering your previous picture.
Veronica Lake?
harpo marx, I think it was.
oooh, found that odd babblet fo5.18.
playing half-assedly is fun sometimes
I am going to try and go to sleep again - no umph for grid tonight but have enjoyed the chat....good night all
rest well, river
ah, an ill wind, that fo5 is.
night, river!
bye river try to get some sleep
benedryl works
9 left and the pe6 words are hanging me up
thanks jmc ===may try that,,,poof
they are all very similar, jmc
that is what my doctor recommended for me when i was greiving
benedryl leaves me way wired. Yay for atypical reactions.
well most people it puts to sleep without addiction
pe6/21 the first, add a vowel in the middle of the pe5/12
indeed so, jmc :)
ah, it's an FÖ word
pe6/21 the second, add a vowel to the end of the 5/12 before it.
now the spelling makes sense.
ah ty jes
right, dc.
i have the second one but still need the thred
pe6/21 the third is a banner you bring home from a baseball game
*third
got it!
ty jes
that is a banner? huh I kept trying pennant
(but too many letters)
7 left
lots of variations on that word, apparently, jmc
Benadryl dowsn't cut it for me.
same as a pennant, yes
well learn something new everyday
I have 16 left.
pe4 after the hammer please
i was noticing while watching hercule poroit he was using a zarf
change the second vowel (into another vowel), jmc
i felt very smug i knew the name
go kap go!
Go where?
are you looking for another 4/5, or for the 48?
silly me i was starting from the wrong PE! lol
4/8, i mean?
ok
ty uu
go on to the finish li** and fireworks kap!
5 left
Go jmcnrick go!
Good evening to my fellow babblers! How is everyone?
hi min!
By the way, congratulations to all the finishers! YAY!
2
hi, min! I should be in bed but I'm not.
hi min
Good morning afternoon evening all, not long enough to complete grid will be back for flip
hi lore
1
I am not waiting till the flip to go back to bed. I hope.
Good to see some Babblers I know Hi there Jmc and Min hows NY?
I should be in bed too,but I'm not.Just wanted to pop in here before I went to bed to share my story that's in my profile. I wrote it earlier on today and saved it.
lobo goes to read mins profile
I think some of us will be waiting for the fl** in the PB.
your stories are always so great, min!
Thanks uusue2!
goodness min you are so violent to your poor monkeys! lol
indeed, i ended up in pb first thing on this grid, as i wished everyone a happy fl4 :)
That would be me.
I think you were here when I posted it before uusue2
I was, but it's still great :-)
the pb was very crowded at the fl** this morning
last night?
well done Min must of taken you a while
it was; I'm not usually there at that time, but I was last night (student dance).
fireworks!
last word was el5/12
yay, jmc!!!
yay well done Jmc
Congratulations jmcnrick in fireworks! Hooray for U!
Now that jmcnrick got fireworks,I can go to bed now
yay jam!
Goodnight to my fellow babblers! I'll see you tomorrow
sleep sweet, min
night, min!
bye min
how is it going kap?
okay then I am off to bed myself
14.
night, jmc!
long day tomorrow must take a big donor to the baseball game
need clues kap?
not finishing grid.
baseball game sounds fun, jmc!
Oh, I don't know. No bother.
not a bother others have done it for me
how about ta7, just for the sake of it.
same as the al6
well, I'm still here for a while, kap, so ask away if you like
oh, so it is, jmc, I didn't even notice that!
okay then i leave you in uu's able hands
*poof*
i don't even have the al6.
sleep sweet, jam
a+mouth part+past tense
thanks.
and the ta7 is a scrambled dog appendage plus a latin word meaning foot
or just tack a t on front of the word just clued ;)
that too, jes :-)
and the first four letters of the ta7 are the preceding ta4
got them both
missing a lot of pi's- let's see what I can rustle up.
Spoken like an old cow hand.
pi+hawaiian goose
pi+end of crying veggie; means wing
i forget the goose one
and then leave out the penultimate vowel for a pi5 tree
take one of the vowels out of the middle for a pi5
I'm not concentrating.
pi5/12 uses a double letter, means external ear
another pi5 is pi + double consonant + vowel, and the following pi6 adds a consonant to that
the hawaiian goose is two letters, repeated, kap
the pi+hawaiin goose sounds like, but is not spelled like, grilled sandwich-pa6 (not in this puzzle, but very yummy)
Thank you- I remember the goose now.
fish smack.
tarter sauce?
an7?
an** of green gables + can top
a worm, kap, or a woman's name + jar top.
OK.
in5/10?
in5 not good at something
the other one. the 5/10
sorry. it's like the crying veggie
ty
the last 2 pe6's?
I got one
hey all -- just getting in. what are my chances?
a banner from a baseball game
and add a vowel to the end of the 5/12 before it
hi stiddy! uhm. chances of what, exactly? :D
first one - add a vowel to the preceding pe5. second one - take off the last two vowels and add the opposite of yes, spellled backwards
Got them all. need of7.
of getting to halfway... up to 17 now
there is no of7. it's a trick
of7 only appears in lickety, kap
let's see if I can get the last li5/12, the le5/12 and the last pi512.
last li5/12 is like fats in your blood but change the last consonant
thank you
le5/12 is plural greek coins (or elementary particles, but we never pluralize it that way), or add a vowel to the preceding le4/5
last pi5/12 is the tree that gives pi** nuts, grows in the southwest
or remove a repeated vowel from the second pi6/21
Fireworks, with a lot of help at the end..
yay, kap!!!
YAY Kaplan!
yay kap!
down to 73 here...
(we all get fireworks with a lot of help, I think(
Hello all!
hi nonnie

not too shabby, nonnie, and yourself?
I am fine, thank you.
730
yikes gremlin...I hope not :o)
98
not gonna start till later in any case
I guess I'll wait or flip.
98 sounds better...I like a smallish grid on a Sunday.
LOL down to 61, still three tiles needing wurds
As long as I am up in time for the gym in the AM
lol I have 61 left also with 5 tiles needing words
you can do it!
HALFWAY!!!!
We should just give them to you.
yay stiddy!
