ty, jilli. The cat thinks that the glasses are a toy. She pulls them off then gnaws on the earpieces.
hello seain, nice pic of you
ty, flosey, and good evening
dc, I had a Dane who liked to chew on ball-point pens. Ruined a carpet doing that.
The cat, who watches me vacuum, ran away in terror from the carpet cleaner and watched from all the way down the hall.
oh, ink stains are the worst!
you didn't name him Bic or anything did you jilli
I have a pair of pants i always wear with a sweater or sweatshirt or longish shirt that doesn't tuck in thanks to a black inkstain near the waistband that has never come out nor faded.
evening, ruru :)
hi ruuster!
hey there DC.. you are up late
hi mr p.. hugs
Actually it was she, ruru, and her call name is in this grid -- so5/14 cos she had such a black mask

My 12-year old nephew has started bidding on antique typewriters on ebay.
oh, beautiful, mrp
beautiful, mrp!
that's a big thing right now DC
nice, mrp!
I have my dad's little portable typewriter, vintage 1948-ish.
thanks all :)
he's targeting stuff earlier than 1920. he's been restoring old typewriters and pedal-powered sewing machines.
heh. the cat is exploring the damp carpet. rather fun to watech
er, watch
Oh! she needs to walk on the damp to get to water dish. ah, well
why is it that cats have to cough up hairballs on clean carpets
my cat rolls on damp carpet and shoves her face into it!
*really holding back a sicko comment*
ruuster, just so we luv them even more!
between the vacuum and the carpet shampooer, i was SHOCKED at how much cat hair came out of it
come on ruuster... luv your comments!
no.. can't .. do.. it
we have this superdupervibratorating vacuum cleaner... every room has a litre container of dog hair and dust in it!!
how many en 5's are there?
3 dee
I have 2 en5
ty... thot I was missing one
yeah, i have a vacuum designed for picking up animal hair. Apparentyl i need to use it more :)

I can't believe what comes out of our carpets.... twice a week!! absolutely disgusting
we don't have carpets
you have the added bonus of kids :)
I am moving into your house ruuster
ty flosey
:)
someday i'll have a house with wood and/or tile floors throughout. For now, it's mostly wall-to-wall.
you are always welcome here mr. p
after the fire, we are having the carpets cleaned because of all the soot and smoke
I'd love to do away with them but hubby likes them to keep noise down! there are only 2 of us here, what does that say for me!
we have wood and tile floors
ruuster, I will be visiting you!!
you totally have to after a fire, or else it's really unlivable
well flosey, put on your tap shoes!
107 down -- good night all :)
can't hear them on carpet, mrp
they still haven't done it dcs, and it has been 2 months! the carpets are so awful with the soot
g'night nan
I know flosey, get those sneaker shoes that squeak and light up when you walk on them!! LOL
nite nan
flosey: tea for two.. and two for tea.. me and you.. and you and me
lol, you're a rascal mrp
well, that tune makes one feel like tap dancing ru
*taps around the chog*
I did take tap dancing lessons once..very stoned on pot.. it was hilarious
but it's not a picture you'd like to see!!
well now, that would be a picture, ru
omg.. it was so freaking funny
I went with a couple of friends... I think the teacher quit teaching after that class..
hahaha !!!
hubby taught through that era, even had dealers in the classroom - with gun! and he couldn't do a thing about it
I like my wall-to-wall carpeting -- soft and quiet. I lived with hardwood floors which had to be waxed, then sanded and refinished from time to time -- no thank you!
but jilli, you don't have an (untrainable) farmer tracking in!
K, someone here must speak Spanish. This sentence is horribly malformed, ¿no?: Si algo lo que quiere ellos ayudaban casi tiempo.
quieres
we took spanish class before going to Spain, don't remember any of it - they wanted us to speak English
i think he means "Si haya que quiero, me ayudan casi todo el tiempo"
Yes, when anyone in Spain learns you speak English, the immediately switch and won't speak Spanish to you.
que es ayudan?
ayudar -- to help someone with something
oh..
who does he help all the time
he's speaking of his parents, but that sentence is so garbled i've not a clue what he's trying to communicate. (I tuter a guy on Oregon in Spanish, and i'm reviewing a paper he wrote)
flosey -- we had Great Danes tracking in on shag wall-to-wall (no problem), and wearing through the finish on pegged oak hardwood in another room.
ah, that would not be easy to deal with jilli
oh..
oh, dog claws on wood does a lot of damage if there's not enough concrete in yard to wear down the claws.
...tell me about it
our goldens have destroyed the hallway in the house
I know how to get back at goldens !
yes?
we had sandy soil back East which didn't help.
egads! "Lo le importa que eso." WTF How does one even write a sentence like that after 5 years of study!
rename them death and wish
oh boy... you have your hands full dc
LOL mrp
death and wish?
no habla espanol
yes, he's repeating a spanish grammar class through the summer. Heavens know he needs to.
i am assuming 2 dogs??
si! mon!
hey, my friends called their dogs Gin and Tonic
Benson & Hedges (cigarette brand)
or Titfer and Tat
I called one of my cats DC... stood for something I can't repeat on here
or Serial and Killer - good for rotweilers
*sends Mr. P to the PB now*
oops! go4 lord!

Good night/day and happy babbling, yall! {poof}
night dc, and you're quite right
ty jilli
Flosey: I'd like to thank all the babble chatters that clue and make me laugh and my bridge partners and especially my husband who has perservered through all my babbling...
great, ru, and hubby just turns his deaf ear!
which is, conveniently, his right ear, so, quiet while he drives
but we do play bridge together most of the time
and he babbles a bit, right?
yes he does, until he gets tired! but I have to laugh, when I say something under my breath, he's sure to hear and ask what was that
selectively deaf?
I was selectively deaf to my parents
yes! I have to think so
I remember the days ru, when our kids tried that
phew... internet gone for a bit from the storms...
welcome back Dee

I would always welcome another baby, but now that is not an option
pretty cool about the doc. though

he told me that the public hospital would have just given me a hysterectomy and been done with me
he is dealing with me very humanely

Morning all. today's phantom ... thyme

blew up like a balloon, uterus the size of a 7 month fetus
hello MrP and Lind it is wet here so no gardening (boohoo) or digging out of foul drains today. Hooray.
aaww how sad, it is still sunny down here but forecast for rain later
MrP and L: There is an indirectly connected word in the grid about your previous conversation !
oh haven't had enough coffee yet to figure that one out! too early lol
MrP are you having an incission in the tummy or all internal?
if you don't mind me asking!
if you don't mind me asking!
Well it starts with G. I am also minus-the-parts (in 1994 emergency op) - best thing that ever happened to me at 50.
It give you a new lease of live really doesn't it
Indeed.

good morning everybody
did you get any sleep, mrp?
hi legend andNigel and ruby **hugs**
oops, no nigel here... my apologies
I was chatting with nigel on the phone and email LOL
hello mrP! hows the refereeing going?
really well legend! I had an incident with an 'intoxicated' manager... and it is now going to Penalty & Discipline Court... what a friggin drama
bound to happen now and then...i had to put one game on hold for 15 minutes to have a spectator removed last week
21 year old tool... and his father is a P&D delegate for my association... so you can imagine what I will go through
well hang in there...do the right thing...:)
good on you legend! I can't stand it when spectators get out of control... ruins the whole thing for everyone
I'm still fiddling with the gy7 clue, monkeys are lying on floor panting
The manager I put an incident report in about has just lied and lied... and I have 5 statements backing me up from all people , even those that don't know eachother
your life sounds very hard, mrp! one thing after another
you need a holiday!@
I am coming over ruby!!
the guestroom is ready!
take a gy... add a spinal area between shoulder and head without the k... then add a couple of stray vowels after the c
on my way baby!! beam me up scotty!!
am loving the French Open!!
na
you know what legend??
do tell, mrP...:)
Good morning everyone:) hope everyone is well today:) quick work break here
morning jean
I was willing to let the incident go... even withdrew my report... then his father, P&D delegate, rings my committee and says I rang his son, Daniel, to ask him to withdraw his complaint against me..... like hell I would do that!!
hi jean!! **hugs**
people are going to do whatever it is they are going to do, mrP...just keep doing the right thing and the rright things will keep on happening...
so I resubmitted it with a hell of a lot more detail and got 4 witness reports that all add up with eachother.
when will ypour case be heard?
I just want the teams to have fun, have a good game, and not be F'ed over by an intoxicated manager during the match
next week wednesday night
but can you believe that his father! (P&D delegate for my association) rang my committee at my association to say I told him withdraw his complaint?? what the hell??
people will see thru that eventually....and keep us posted!!
his father has no right to do that and I have lost faith in his position as P&D delegate... family over truth
I will legend, I will.... just another piece of shite I have to deal with :))
so it goes in the world of refereeing, eh?
yeah... 50% luv you 50% hate you
Right thats my few mins break back to work will BBL Happy Babbling one and all:)
just been "summoned"
see ya jean!!
tried to help the roses along but he wants his apero (stamping foot)

James Barrie, the author of Peter Pan, and his wife never had kids, but he did have a special affection for the children of others. In 1929, he signed over the rights for Peter Pan to a London hospital that specialized in pediatric medicine.

Tout sweet, rf.
I can't remember ever seeing two J's in the grid.
Oogly.
Oh great. There goes my mind, singing "Toot Sweet" from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
and c***y
See? I told you. You've seen two a's, haven't you? Why should there be more a's than j's?
There's 3 t's. Do you ever see 3 qu's? Not to mention j's.
oh..great.t.hanks molls....humming about sweets now
random, right?
I tell you, the whole thing is a fix.
Good Morning. Kaplin, when you play either Boggle or Scrabble; there is just 1 of thos odd letters in the dice or tiles. I imagine that there is just one of each here too
good explanation and hello, nef
( I had no idea that chitty chitty bang bang was written by ian flemming..and...the guy that directed ( or produced ) the original james bond movies...Broccoli... also did chitty chitty bang bang
Yeah? Do you think there is a set of tiles, not just random letters? I'll accept that answer.
i think there likely is kaps
it must be the original scrabble set, hence so many e's and t's available
Yes, I suppose so. I guess I can't cry fraud.
No fun in reasonable answers.
you can, but enable won't listen!
I've asked Dr_God if he ever rejects a grid and re-does it; he says that whatever comes up is the grid for the day.
Is there only one j in scrabble? Doyou know of any other words that have two j's (like jejune.)
(I was complaining about a lousy grid that day) :-)
I was born in jenovember btw.
jujube
jejune is the only word I know of with 2 J's. Unless you stutter, that is
good one, ruby!
100 points to ruby
Jumping in here....jojoba
jujube is in scrab dict
Ah, very good!
also juju and jujitsu
Buncha word nerds- can't stump you!
I've been called worse!
Jumpjack?
Well, that just shows what a small vocabulary (or imagination) I have! :-)
we are getting desperate for rain; they keep predicting thunderstorms but it is so dry that we'll soon have water restrictions
Ian Fleming had his whimsical side. Well, except for that eerie child catcher. But he was probably influenced by Roald Dahl's script writing.
If the scrabble grid has only one j, none of these words could be used.
you could use the blank, hopefully to make a bingo
We used up all the available rain here in the USA.
I am off; didn't start the grid as I'm heading out for a few days R&R. Has anyone heard how mrp is doing?
she sounded a little better this AM
On this note (c sharp minor, to be specific) I must get ready for the rigors of my day.
worldwide weather is becoming spooky! it's probably DSK's fault hahah
Did she find out anything from that test?

anyone have an answer to my gy question?
ty. finally got it. only need 5 more for fireworks now
or, you store stuff in the *****, but make the double letter a single
Morning Babblers :)
you store stuff in the closet, cupboard, garage, cellar, basement, fridge, pantry... :) lol
Hello, Babblers!
hurshy, it refers to female flower parts
thanks nono
hurshy, the only thing i store in the fridge is "science projects"
Fireworks. ty for all the clues.
Let the summer times roll! Good Morning Babblers..
I hear that , Christa. HHH here in the mid-atlantic today.
l
Hursh, I don't think it's related to either.
Female flower parts?????????
Babble gives me a headache sometimes.

tceicher - having trouble expressing yourself today?
Hiya, uu.
hi, judi!
Hey Judi, Hey Sue. Sue, what did you get for your birthday?
Good morning all
Hi Mr. Bob
hi, molly, I wound up not buying anything except dinner. Will wait for the summer art fairs to treat myself to some funky jewelry.
and morning, mr bob!
Art fairs and trade shows are a great place to find unique jewelry.
the mall turned out to be pretty much a desert as far as interesting things to buy are concerned :-)
hi all and fireworks
ursh did you get the gy word?
she musta done
hi, vanilla! Congrats on the fireworks!!
<----- Thinks "interesting" and "Mall" don't belong in the same sentence. : P
ty
congrats to vanilla!! hi Babblers

these c's are killers
i'll vote for oogly
Ru, just to let you know, your name was being used in connection with "speedo" yesterday. : P
really.. they haven't dropped that yet
can someone explain nbt for me? Do pro's get blank tiles at the start of the game?
...it's true what they say... old jokes never die..
not really vanilla
we get the stats
nbt means no words in that tile yet
if you have gone through the grid and you have found at least one word from each of the tiles, you have nbt = no blank tiles
I see, it had me worried lol
fun grid.. done - anyone need a clue before I sc5?
thanks for the sc aloy..lol
i'm fine.. almost done..thank you though
lol, yvw ruru. Happy Babbling all, see you next grid! poof

el 4/7 is a made up word and stooopid

http://www.stumbleupon.com/su/2uZalm/i mg.krakez.com/%253Fi%253D5351
lol! I love it!!!
thought you would:)
print it off.you can post it in the teachers lounge
I'll send it to the department secretary - she has a color printer (my home printer has died)
although actually what has died is its power cord (and transformer), which is really irritating
anyway, hi, crossy, it is good to see you!
good to see you as well:)
wen you replace it,may i suggest a lexmark all in one printer, scanner, copier and fax? i paid 60 dollars for this 3 years ago and it has never failed and the black and white cartriddge is only 17 dollars
it also takes all the popular sd and micro sd cards and has 4 usb ports
ah, thx, I was going to ask. this one is an HP that has already had to be replaced once (before the warranty ran out)
i slot the micro usb card from my camera right into this one and direct print on photo paper:)
fax papers to govt etc..thing is very handy
sounds good! I'll see if I can find one.
do
and sacn all my household paperwork direct to flash key for storage
good morning everyone
this one is the lexmark 5600
howdy flosey
lol, they should send me a comission after this! lol
well of course they don't seem to make it any more...
:(
must be a newer version of the 5600....
got it sue...
http://www1.lexmark.com/CA/en/view/CA- Printers%20&%20MultiFunction/Lexmark-X 5650%2B/catId=cat310022-category&prodI d=CA6335-product
this is it exactly..just been rebranded
ok, lexmark has one on their site LEXMARK X5650ES but the dealers (office depot and max) don't show it
the x5650
see it is 99 dollars now..but well worth it
do you know what the difference is between the 5650 and the 5650es?
looking...
cos the 5650es which is normally 100 is on sale for 50
Hello Everyone :)
seems one of them will do 2 sided copies
ok, looks like the es doesn't do photos or duplex printing
for half price I can probably do without that
and hi, sadie :-)
the 5690 does 2 sided
but anyways the 5650(one sided) and the 5690(2 sided) are identical to mine
3 years and works flawlessly..and 17 dollar cartridge!
colour is 25
howdy sadie
with this printer in combination with online banking and bull payments,i have omitted canada post from my life altogether;0
bill
bull works for me :-)
lol
just as well as they are set to go on strike next week
any books i order from biblio.com come fed-ex or ups,so again not an issue:)
hello good peoples
hiya Sue and Crosshair
hi, maryte!
howdy maryte
Sue, did you read about the typo on Georgetown University's commencement program?
no, i missed that, molly!
and crossy, this printer had better be good :-)
but at half price and free shipping I could hardly turn it down (of course printers are just a vehicle for selling you cartridges, but still)
On the cover..."2011 Georgetown Univeristy"
oh dear :-(
Kind of embarrassing for all the high falutes there.
I did a 2-day workshop at the beginning of the week on creating a themed learning community; the evaluation forms had a couple of roaring typos on them. sigh
anyway, now i am off to see if i can get a new sd card for my phone - wish me luck!
do 5/16 ??
never mind
got it
hi folks - Molly just read back and saw your post about the commencement - ugh! that's so sad!(and that's my alma mater, too) I always wonder - how many people actually read that and missed it? it's the fault of more than one person, that's what's so depressing
hi all
it is so easy to miss a typo like that--you read what you expect
I know jmc, but proofreaders are supposed to be more careful - read backwards, from bottom to top, etc...
that is why i tell my staff to read things outloud
they may not have even thought to give the cover to a proofreader
depressing, as I said
lack of attention to detail, carelessness, you might even find some who will say it's not important, etc.
but putting in perspective not as depressing as the Joplin HS graduation the day before the tornado
oh that news from Jopin is really horrendous - anything particular about the graduation or do you mean just the fact that they have no HS left
well just the night before be conjoled to smile and it makes everything better and then 24 hours later they have nothing
this grid is a bitch
it's a nightmare - what amazes me is the people they interview who say "we lost everything but we'll be OK' I can't even imagine
well if you are alive it is still better than the alternative
how was your trip jmc? any time in Santa Fe? My brother lives there - I'd like to go out there soon
my heart goes out for the family whose baby disappeared
how about the woman whose husband lay on top of her to save her but he didn't survive?
the stories are heart-wrenching
no all in albuquerque nice enough conference and go to see my successor in action
*got
she is a go-getter; makes me tired
I had a similar experience this week - conference where I met up with my former colleagues and staff - they did all the work, I was just a visitor - GREAT!
4TH COLUMN E stats please?

First four letters of the lady parts doctor + Not the FBI but the other US covert agency
thanks Molly!
thx, molly!
You're welcome Flask. It's quiet in here. I think everyone did the grid and hid.
Hello everyone - been lurking myself today
fireworks for me
yay, river!
<--- has not done the grid yet
thank you - grid wasnt too bad - but did have to use morewords for a couple of the funkier words in the grid.
I really should get to work now - have a great day babble friends
I usually just mess with the grid on and off during the day and then finish in the evening. Right now I am about 1/3 of the way through.
bye, river!
wheee I found the 8 all by myself
hi folks (lurking during lunch - hey harry, i voted for your school, hope you win!)

ty wild
yw
want clues sue?
Left o is a word that means leer
nbt!
i have that one, molly, comes from the 2nd column o
yay harry!
and clues would be nice :-)
far-left O = sounds an owl makes, H****
in5/6 - small body of water partially surrounded by land
Sorry, I thought left o meant the far left o
ah, thx, eva! I figured it would start with oo but oogly didn't work :-)
molly, your word comes from the upper O, not the far-left O
*og**s molly*
sue, thats a shame. oogly is SO a word. ;)
and 50%
and thx for the in - looked for that and couldn't find it so didn't try it (should know better by now :-)
hi all
hi, jmc!
*Goes to the PB for being an idiot*
time for a break
yw hi jmc
lol, molly, if that's all it took we'd all be in there nonstop!
I'm going to have to get back to "work" too. bbl
bye, wild!
*settles in favorite chair in pb for general principles*
bye wild
since hubby + i have a 4-day weekend, ive been tasked for planning activities for us. i think im kicking butt. ;)
what are you planning, eva?
friday, we are going to go strawberry-picking, then to a movie at the Drafthouse, where you can get dinner and drinks.
saturday, we are going to the farmers market, then i got us tickets for the International Spy Museum and the Crime and Punishment Museum.
sunday, we are going to do something active (tennis/biking/basketball/swimming/rol lerblading), then we are going to a street festival that also has a free concert, featuring Parliament!
then monday, he has a soccer game in the afternoon. we will spend the rest of the day resting and relaxing, then we will go out for a nice dinner.
:)
Produce, Spies and Punishment. Hmmm.
i wanted to keep us busy, but not totally exhausted. im not sure that hes ever been to the spy museum, but the ticket i got are for their "after dark" program which also includes drinks and appetizers and is for adults only. :)
sounds fascinating, eva!
these museums are in the DC area?
i tried to get us scheduled for some massages, but the place i have a giftcard for is booked for the weekend.
yes, both are in DC, just a few blocks from each other. i can park in my building, so thats free -- yay!
Strawberry daiquiris at Eva's tomorrow night! Be there or be sober.
and really... why be sober??
;)
there you go :-)
sorry work interfered again
naughty work :-)
Eva, you and your husband are in my hall of fame for hiking through hip deep snow to get beer. Along with a guy I work with who figured out that four beers will fit in a 7-11 Extra large big gulp cup (for smuggling onto the "no drinking" beach)
hah. we really arent the alcoholics that we sound like. though, the first wedding gift we received WAS the "Beertender" hehe
anywhoodle, ive gotta run. hair appt tonight and dinner with mommy! have a good long weekend, all!
:)
bye, eva!
bye eva
stupid work
lol, jmc!
So apparently my son has decided that he wants a chinchilla. WHAT??????????????
LOL, I stopped in on "chinchilla" - they used to be stylish (for coats) very non-PC now :)
I don't think that's what he has in mind, jbv :-)
and they are apparently much more labor-intensive than, say, gerbils.
evening all - last day at work until next Tuesday - wheee
yay, kazz!
wtg kaz!
chinchilla's smell more than gerbils too i understand
stats for the i please for nbt
in5/10, in6/18
the chinchilla also needs daily dust baths and out-of-the-cage daily exercise.
And we already have two cats and a large dog.
(I know there are five i words but so far I only have those two)
V
V
i only have 1 i
lies - just got aother one
just noticed I am more than half way!
i have got 66 left but i still have 2 blank squares - the solitary o and the e on the bottom row
that O is an o4 word
ey4/6 from the bottom e
and hi, cos!
it is a sign that you don't have the O on the bottom kazz
hi sue
hi cosd
hi jmc and everyone else
i have the o on the bottom on the left column is missing
to leer maybe kaz?
i have that it seems to come in the other o
oo4/4
oh u said right column! oops
yes oo 4/4
thanks everyone
i need a clue for dummies for the i words
I did the same thing earlier Cos. *Passes Cos a cold beer*
ah thanks molly!
i will take one too molly my office is stuffy
I like my roast beef sliced th****
*Passes a cold beer to JMC*
ty molly that makes nbt finally
*leans back in chair and takes a gulp*
i also have nbt - thanks again
When I was a spy, my disguises made me *****nito.
ok, those are both weird words. imho of course :-)
oooo do tell all molly girl
My last name is really Hari. Mata is my sister.
*giggle*
*Passes a cold beer to Kazz and Sue and toasts the weird words*
i need the 3rd cl 5/12
there are cl words?
oh so i see
yes. 5 cl words
pretty nippy here today but I'll take the beer anyway, thx!
Cl + what people do to stores in a power failure
noo.. 8
thanks molly
Or c + that. Yeesh.
thx, molly, didn't have that one - the 6 I did have are all pretty normal words
pieces of dirt i think is the third one
If you add an "ie" to that word, it refers to trees in Ireland with bits of fabric tied to them. They are prayer trees and the bits of fabric represent those that are prayed for. Somewhere in Ireland, there is a bit of fabric tied to a cl5ie tree for me, courtesy of my sister.
ne**o molly
I didn't know mata made it to ireland
She gets around. : P
lol
Sue, it's hazy, hot and humid here today. Perfect weather for ice cold beer. JMC, Topper just said there are tornados getting ready to touch down in Cumberland. EEK.
yikes! *puts on foil hat*
i wonder if someday soon we'll be seeing some americans wear foil hats because harold camping or glenn beck told them to
*Gets out tin foil for hat assembly*
if glenn beck says to do it I will have to stop
camping now says he was wrong. the rapture will be oct. 21st lol
looks like the storms are moving north and not east molly so i am safe in DC
Martinsburg and Hagerstown look like they are having a tough go of it
I have a colleague in the biology department who is convinced that all the cell phones in her building are emitting enough energy to give her a rash. I considered suggesting a foil hat for her but restrained myself.
yeah i heard. but rapture was so last week. I doubt he will get the media buzz as much this time
Ooo Sue, tell her to read Stephen King's "Cell".
hmmm seems she needs some remedial physics
I think so :-) I sent her some references and tried to be gentle about it. haven't heard back from her.
uh molly isn't that going in the wrong direction?
Oops, ex-in-laws are near Martinsburg. Must check in on them later.
Well, Cumberland to WV would be west, wouldn't it?
dunno about media buzz for Camping, jmc; the last time he predicted the end of the world was in the mid-1990s sometime. this one is a lot sooner so he might get more attention.
yeah it looks like a long night for them
no because a lot of the buzz came from the internet and part of it was the lack of world news at the moment
there were reports of a lot of murder/suicides due to camping's prediction.
October is a busier month newswise
i am sorry cosd i simply do not believe that
Those news reports made me sad. : (
i can give you a news article if you like :)
dunno about a lot but there certainly seem to have been a few
even one murder is a lot for me
a few i can believe but clearly they didn't understand the concept if they committed a murder/suicide
and also people who gave away all their money, especially to Camping and for billboards - they must be in a tough spot now
being dead would change the outcome of the rapture
excellent point
Whatever happened to focusing our collective soul on the positive? Did people learn nothing from "Ghostbusters"? Please join me in a chorus of "Your Love, Is Lifting Me Higher".
well THOSE people get what they deserve!
dost
sorry
hi all
i think some of his followers didn't understand but were fascinated with the idea.
YOUR LOVE is lifting higher, high than before
I've heard the same thing in connection with the whole 2012 nonsense - people committing suicide or killing themselves and their children because they don't want to live through it
That's it. Sing it JMC!!!
sigh
sorry obviously i shouldn't sing in the chog after a beer
anyway, hi, sue! and I already had that word :-)
sounds fine to me, jmc!
gees there weren't that many who killed themselves over Y2K
lol go back and read it again uu
everybody sing and ignore all the soothsayers and religous nuts - no body has ever seen the future and no one will - at least not if they live in our dimensions - so my attitude why worry about it - take each day as it comes with all it joys and woes and use them to weave the pattern of your live
just give me another beer, sooner or later it will sound fine :-)
It's the soul of the singer, not the lyrics that count. Ask any Karaoke participant. : P
i keep trying to find the J word :-(
oops life
so do i jmc
*applause for kazz*
Joy is the j word, it's just too short for the puzzle :-)
Sue, that reminds me of my bar line in college. "Drink up baby, I get better looking as the night goes on." : P
dont forget the Y word
ty kazz i feel less dumb now
hello dear friends!
hi, trif!
REALLY???? you really said that?
hi trif
i have now come to that time in my life where i have deicded to take control over the things I can and say stuff it to the rest
Having the girls' lax team over for a pasta party tonight, and enjoying this brief calm before the storm
All the time. *Gets a cold beer for Trif*
wtg kazz
lax = lacrosse?
lax? *runs to get extra pottys*
yes, uusue. sorry. lax = lacrosse
Oh God, I thought lax was a Merlin (Maryland) shortcut.
oh, dear no, jmc!!!
by the way, have you seen this? http://twitter.com/#!/oldmansearch
in september i will be retiring for 1 day a week and doing things i always put off - like learning to drive
and I'm with you, kazz (although I am still trying to figure out which category my son's proposed pet chinchilla fits into)
it's so funny! This guy is trying to teach his 81 yo dad to use the computer, and set him up a twitter account, but told him it was a search engine. So whatever he tweets is what he is searching
the last ho 5/16 please?
a dear little cuddly ball of grey fluff - i would love one
In a warm way Cos.
that seems mean
my great aunt learned to drive at the age of 80
it does, jmc, but it is SO funny! "does jay leno sleep on his set?" "diane sawyer bathing suit photos"
Diane Sawyer! LOLOLOL
i dont tweet at all but i do facebook
*blank look*
I have nothing against chinchillas in principle but i"m not sure he's aware of how much work they are (or how much the dog will want to make a meal of it)
ho old is he?
okay, gotta run - secondo has arrived. Chaos to follow....
I don't tweet either although I do have a twitter account which someone has apparently hacked
bye trif have fun
good luck, trif!!!
the center tweets
sue - they also need quite a large enclosure and cage - the animal sanctuary i go to has rescue ones
thank god i got a young staff
i would say no to the chinchilla
actually the chog has a tweeteresque to it
<----- Doesn't get the appeal of Twitter
thanks molly
my sister the reporter (not spy) tweets
she is older than i am
I know, kazz, and they need daily dust baths (?) and out-of-cage exercise time
Your sister is a reporter? Interesting women in your clan JMC.
she was with the post before it sucked and now she is with politifacts funny as hell
http://www.politifact.com/
i know up the road they use silver sand for the dust baths
i love politifact.com
I have read the Post all my life. And become enamored with some of it's writers. Bob Levy and Donna Britt are two of my favorites.
and hubby has said that they will do all the grooming themselves if they are happy
yeah i am not a bob levy fan but then I used to be active in the newspaper guild
does only the stupid i word use the ly ending?
one of them does..
ho5 ends in ly
ty une
ty cosd
yw ;-)
sorry misunderstood the qustion
well, I am still planning to talk him out of the chinchilla but we will see
ty une - off to the list i think
does he live with you?
my phantom is coolly
he does indeed, jmc
So many stupid words in today's grid.
then i am surprised it is a discussion--call me narrow minded but if i think i am going to end up with taking care of an animal i think i gets veto rights over what lives in my home
The gy 7 and et 7 are my top two contenders.
that is why i have a cat that my son SWORE he would take care of
my thinking exactly, jmc; i just haven't talked to him about it yet
*Adds an AMEN SISTAH to what JMC said*
hmm i will have to find them so i can scoff with you molly
<--- doesn't have the et7 (hint, hint)
looks like it's related to word origins
When you are nin***, you hope you will have a lot of ***ey to live on
oohhh, nice, molly!!
My kids hope I will have a lot of ***ey when I'm nin*** so I can leave it all to them.
took me a minute but got it ty molly
cute clue
The gy word is the stoooopidest. Sounds like flowers in your genitals.
er that is only 6 letters
ick *clamps knees together*
*Goes to the PB again for making another mistake*
but i got a word from it molly! come back and play
*Puts down cat-o-nine tails flog and returns to the chog*
te 6 please?
kinky
(i mean molly not the te6)
lol iw as wondering about that
oh there is only 1 7 letter word so i am guessing that is the gy7
yes jmc
*sigh* still looking
1 left...

go cosd go!
whoo hooo cosd
wtg cos - this is killing me - i have 47 left
90 left
yay, cos!
Congrats Cos! Morning all
hi lynxxx
72 left for me
go uu go!
37 but gonna list real soon
just been calculating retirement options - I max out in less than three years!
i can't retire until i am 72
12 years
go** for you uu!
i still have 7 years to go but i will lose 35% to take it early but its a win win situation for me as i will be hopelgully debt free by october (get a lump sum) and my pension will still accrue
35% tax?
nice, kazz!
DO
great kazz
I got a lump sum -redundancy - about that age - it was wonderful not to have a mortgage around my neck after about 25 years. Great feeling
hi Inge
i just refinanced to reduce the payment and have another 28 years to go to pay it off :-(
I would love that, lynxxx!
but i am paying an extra payment each year which should reduce the payments to 18 years
my primary mortgage will be paid of in 8 years but the second I keep adding to so who knows how long that will take :-/
that does sound wonderful lynxxx
i only have the one mortgage
*off
no one of the conditions of taking my pension before i am 60 is losing about 5% for every year off 60 I am do ay your pension was £10k a year you would only get £6.5k but the big advantage of all of this is the fact that I will still be get 75% of my salary plus my pension and a lump sum and the lump sum starts to accrue again until i acutally retire. The only conditions are that the new salary and pension cannot be more than you earn now so I will have to lose a little bit of pension
nominally the second is also a 15-year loan but with the additions I am not sure
nice, kazz! Max here is 80% and I will reach that in less than 3 years.
that sounds like a pretty nice deal
so after that my pension would only go up if my salary goes up, which has happened only occasionally over the past several years
i can take my hubby SS in two years and leave mine to grow until i am 72 (or whatever the age will be then to max out)
not likely to happen this year is it uu? things still tough all around
anyway I have also clarified the chinchilla, apparently this is something my son and his (nutty) girlfriend came up with, but they are not thinking of doing it any time soon.
our pensions are based on 80ths - i have 33/80s at he moment I am looking forward to it. I can stay in work untili am 66 if i really want to - thats when the state pension will kick in for me
oh thats good about the chinchilla
he says he thinks he is ready to take care of a small animal now; I pointed out that he can take care of the cat that is nominally his if that's what he wants to do
All these retirement rules! We used to have the same here - you needed to be a financial wizrd to understand them. Happily they simplified them heaps here a couple of years ago
i will not get all the SS I have earned due to working for the state - they will lop $300/month off the top.
ah well he can take care of it when he has his own place
oh the pension is just the start of it lynxxx -- the health insurance with the medicare is the fun part
okay i think i am heading home--i have yet to catch up on my sleep
and we won't talk about your tax system - You wouldn't believe how simple ours is
Goodnight jmc
bye, jmc!
i dont have to worry about health insurance - its all free here - though I do have it for me and my son - it just means we can jump the queue a lttle bit
same system here Kazz - though the British system has much better coverage
<---- Will be living in a cave when she's retired
that not only grim but dim too
i think i am going to fail tonight - still got 34 and want to go to bed
nite all
mY LAST WORD HAS DISAPPEARED FROM THE LIST It is a do 5. My grid will not take the '''plural of the preceding word. Can anyone help me?
goodnight Kazz
Hang down your head John Do***
(though the spelling might not be the same as the song)
thx, lynxxx! and now I am off - see you all later!
Got it, thanks
bye Inge
oops sorry - bye Sue
I think it's Tom Do 5/16
*Strums guitar* Hang down your head and cry
oh yeah that's right - brain cells dying here
probably not Hang down your head John Ho*** either
I AM also out. Susoku now Bye
bye Inge
No, but there was a Harry H**** G**** in the Raggedy Ann stories. : D
there you go - never read any RA books
Just a wee bit easier with the list. I am having real problems with T words lately. Bye Molly and all
Hey whats up yo?!
hello everyone :)
Hi.
:-P
do 5/16, please?
scroll down to 5:22 nan
ty jess -- should have remembered that one
yw - I didn't either
et 6?
et + sometimes vowel + 1st 3 ltrs of day after Sunday
ty -- I was soooo close
good errr... very early morning?
hi sprite
hi jessmom
hi sprite
hi nan
went to bed early with a sleeping pill, but was awakened by my son who had come home smelling of beer and cigarettes and got scolded by his father.
had a go4 talk with him, but am over my sleep now :(
a very early morning to you as well ((Sprite))
hi Mom :) Ain't raising adolescents an adventure!
it is a great life if you don't weaken
I am glad those days are behind me, they are now 26 and 23
how old is your son, Sprite? I know he just had a birthday
won't weaken, I promise.
:-) I know you won't
just a saying around here
he just turned 15. Alcohol is not allowed until 16, and we think that is rather young still. And no smoking allowed at all.
wow. 18 to smoke here and 21 to drink
state rules not ours
much much better
Hi all. Just starting and see you are here Sprite and Mom. Good to see you both.
hi stidgmere :)
good to see you as well, stidgmere
ty
do you have a smoking age where you live, Sprite?
he has friends who offer him cigarettes and beer. I told him we can do one of two things: forbid him to hang around with those friends, or trust him to be able to say no.
I hope he chose the trust option.
hm not really, Mom. It is seriously discourage for all ages. No ads, warnings on the packages, and for the youth campaigns that make clear smoking isn't cool, just stupid.
st 6/33 please?
he chose the trust option and in a way that gave me faith he means it.
hi stidgemere
Hi Nan, sorry I don't have it.
Hi cyber! How are you enjoying the Spring? Is it like here in the NW, almost here and yet too wet to plant?
oh good Sprite. I hope this is the last time you have to have this talk
got it nan
I've done what planting I am doing and keeping my fingers crossed for nights that aren't too cold
also told him that he must tell us when for whatever reason he shouldn't be able to keep his promise... that we can help him keep on making the right choices. Guess that is all we can do, right? And the 'worst' friend is coming over to stay this weekend, his parents are away. So I might have a bit of a talk with him as well :)
a clue, please, Mom?
sorry, computer burped.
dull, not interesting
Ah, we have the bean seeds but even as I write, it is raining. Argh!
great idea, Sprite. Sometimes other kids need to know that you have their back also
have an st 5/18 that is dull and uninteresting
did that help, Nan?
this one ends in the sometime vowel
yeah, lol, my love looked a bit frowny at me when I said ok, he can stay the weekend. But I think, better keep the friends close, let them in our house so we can see them and talk with them.
oh -- I see needs and extra letter -- ty mom
put a D in the 5 letter one
so does the 5/18 -- you need to drop a middle letter for it
and let them learn by example. He might not have a good example where he lives
thanks Nan
nope. And I told Tim he should be a good example for his friends, in stead of letting them drag him down with them. He agreed.
so... I guess I am not the only one having lots of self doubt while trying and raise my teens?
we always said "why is it that the bad always rubs off on the good and not the other way around"
very well put, will remember that one
this grid is absolutly dreadful
Sprite, you strike me as the type of mom who is stern yet fair.
that bad, nan?
agreed, Nan. wish I hadn't started it
that is what we try to be. I believe in clear boundaries and open conversations.
so many parents around here want to be friends with their children instead of parents. That does them no favors
amen, Sprite. As did we.
so true! It is our job to be parents. For friends, they have people their age. Quite a different relationship.
first te 5?
sometimes the boys did not like us for what we wouldn't let them do. But with age came responsiblity and enough rope to test the waters but if they chose not to do the right thing the rope was tightened again until they changed
also we try to teach him life is not about never screwing up. It is about learning from the things you do and putting bad things right again.
now you couldn't ask for two more loving, empathic, polite young men
sounds very good to me, Mom. Will keep it in mind!
if they didn't ever screw up, how will they learn anything.
exactly. We all screw up. We still do, lol.
and I agree with you, you mess up, make it right
boy do we! At least Ido
my motto is: don't feel guilty, feel responsible, and act on it.
oh me too. Lots of times.
but everything I screw up, I have learned something. So that is a good thing
I like your motto
pfew! Thanks for letting me vent! I trust my kids, but as a mother, I cannot help worrying they will get into bad trouble.
Sprite, honey, I hate to tell you, that will never change :-)
you will always worry
*giggles* I was afraid of that!
my mom, she is 75, she still worries about all of us
she tells me you never stop worrying, and as the family grows so does the worries.
she now worries about her 3 children, my sweetie and her 6 grandchildren
aw isn't that sweet! My mother doesn't worry about us, never did. Too busy being full of herself. I am so glad that wasn't in the genes!
(((Sprite))) I am so saddened to hear that.
My sweetie tells me "the best revenge is living well" and I think you are doing just that
in the end, dear Mom, it is my mother who loses most by it. She misses out on so much more than she realises.
te 6, please?
so true, Sprite
your sweetie is a wise one :)
oh Sprite, indeed he is
Let me see if I can help you find it Nan
