They said the volcano had been erupting for a week, no clue as to how long it might disrupt things.

that's all I know for now. you might want to check out some dutch or belgian online shops for 'snoep' or 'snoepgoed'. Sebastian would stand up to beg and I would put Cheerios into his mouth. The other 3 stand up too but won't let me feed them. And they all get so excited about their salad plates. Sebastian lived the longest of all of my bunnies. Two previous bunnies got to 7.5 yrs.
Lake Erie is our snow machine.
We had one bunny stolen out of his bunny hatch and his companion died a few months later at age 5.

Interesting, my boys belonged to a branch of the BSA here in Israel. It was connected to an Orthodox troop in Brooklyn. My kids were always so excited there was a boy scout lighting a fire wearing a Yarmulke (Jewish head covering) in the manuel.

The county I live in is hilarious. The kids can't sing any "Christian" Christmas songs, but they learn all about Hannukah. And if Yom Kippur and Rosh Hashana fall on school days, they are days off.
I went to a public school that was 87% Jewish and we sang all the Christmas songs. I still know the words to Silent Night and I get confused over my own, Jewish, grace after meals!

I live in a county in Maryland that is predominantly Jewish. When the schools were open on those Jewish holidays, they didn't have enough students to make it worth while.
at the university we get very few holidays (although Christmas conveniently falls between semesters) but we are encouraged to accommodate everyone's religious holidays
At our HS Graduations we never had prayer per se, but there was always a religious benediction. A priest, minister and Rabbi rotated year by year so no one minded. Today they'd have to add some other leaders, the disctrict has become very Asian/

I only know that because the make up of the county I grew up in was so similar and it was also called Montgomery. I was outside of Philly.
When I have Saturday morning dentist appointments, I go by five, yes five Temples in six blocks. And a whole lot of people walking to services.
Yep, very much like my town. on one stretch of the "Main Drag" there were 6 or 7 shuls, 4 Conservative and 2 or 3 Reform. On Rosh Ha Shanna & Yom Kippur there were double or triple shifts of police directing traffic. Totally ironic since you are not supposed to drive on those days. The only day there are NO cars in Israel is Yom Kippur; the most secular stay home.
Several jewish movements have OK'd driving on Saturday- if it's the only way you can get to services. People do what they want according to their own community and personal standards anyway. I'm all for inconsistency.
