just saw a news story about Vigilante Grandmas in one of the Carolinas..they tell

finally nbs !! just couldn't find a 7
I'm sure it's not flosey
top row greyed out
*wanders in before going to sleep* *looks at size of grid* *hugs everyone, leaves choclits and goes away again* *poof*
you'll know when they all show up on the ferry with sombreros
hi and bye stid..big grids are fun
Westie -- thanks for your lovely icon and writeup -- most interesting. My maiden name was Murray (derived from Moray, I believe), and hubby's niece married a Cumyn (very close to Comyn). So it stirs the Scottish blood...
nice to see stid -- wondering how the migraines are...
2 of our granddaughters are Urquharts
D's done. phew.
thought it would be a different twist on the theme
yours was great too jilli I always learn so much

too bad flosey but think of the money you saved
gn cos happy dreams
but later in the day, the fellas went up Mt. Maxwell and grandson played his guitar while son took a video of him with surrounding views
how nice..sounds idyllic
I'll post it, if I can
I hope so
It's a wonderful view from there
I'll post a pic of Mt. Max. from the front of our property tomorrow - have to resize it
here it is
I refreshed but can only see the tiny picture
I resized it so it would show here
you can actually get up to the top, there's a strong fence at the edge
how high?
will have to look it up!
have you been to the top?
you can drive most of the way, walk maybe about 10 minutes or so
the road is terrible!
my kind of mountain climbing lol
yes, often, we always take visitors up there
we can see down the valley, put a tarp out on the shed so we can identify our property, house is hidden by trees
that's very cool
I was going to ask if you could see your house from there
but yes, as jilli says, the road is bad
all rutty?
I don't know why they don't fix it
yes, not kept up very well
with so many tourists going up, you'd think they would fix it
ruts and humps and dips and rocks etc.
is there a charge to use the road?
no, public road
no charge
maybe if they charged a nominal fee they could fix it?
dollar a car or something like that
I bet people wouldn't mind
nobody there to collect it, lol!
I was thinking of you and flosey lol
don't think it would be easy to do that
oh, cool idea -- we'll get rich
I want a cut
you have to come and help
but you'd have to pay income tax on it -- unless you got rich enough of course.
okay
we could fix the road ourselves and keep all the money
couldn't you just see it now? lol
you are very energetic, we4
in my dreams flosey
lol
but come anyway
I plan to
hooray! when?
not for a bit..daughter is just leaving Mon
but not too long
coming this summer?
summer's out but maybe next year
maybe even in the winter..ours are getting too snowy and cold
winter here is dreary and unpredictable
like much of the northwest
ours are dreary and predictable
you don't generally get icy roads do you?
occasionally
please inform the weather man to have only perfect weather when I come out
we'll do our best
we get black ice sometimes -- and snow, which isn't cleared promptly.
thank you lol
we haven't been getting any summer to speak of so far. The whole continent is steaming but we're stuck in the 60s and low 70s with cloud and very little sun :-(
I'd be there for the company I hope you both know that
My guest room awaits...
thanks very much
we have one too, but functional, not as elegant as Jilli's
thank you too flosey I really appreciate the invites
Elegant? Hardly! It's partly sewing room.
I'm not sewing. lol
didn't notice, jilli, I thought it was lovely
has there ever been a babble meet up on SSI ?
There's a table in the far corner where the sewing machine lives.
But thanks, flosey.
very handy, jilli, I have to put up and take down every time I need it
**need to sew
I put my grandmother's sewing machine in the sitting room haven't opened it since we moved here
her cabinet, newer machine
is it antique?
the cabinet?
my father bought it for her around 1940
I don't do much sewing these days -- just mending and shortening pants and such.
but when we were little my mother had one that wasn't electric and she made most of our clothes..including winter coats
don't know what happened to that
wow, that's the kind my girlfriend learned on
I did not get the sewing gene
We had a treadle machine at school in England -- my first experience with a sewing machine too.
I did make a lot of my own and daughter's clothes but don't do any of that now
being tall and skinny, I was hard to fit so sewing made it easier, Mom made most of our clothes
my greatgrandmother supported herself and her 2 children as a seamstress..great grandfather was killed in an accident when my grandmother was 4 and her brother was 1
Lack of money led me to sewing. I made a grecian style evening dress when I was at McGill, with tubular white "silk" jersey and gold ropes for curtains. By hand.
I bought material a few years ago for a curtain for office (sun creates glare on computer) DIL made it while she was here
did the ropes come from curtains Scarlett?
sounds lovely jilli
Made a few other dresses too. It was wartime and dad was interned in Hong Kong.
I have a picture of it somewhere.
it does sound lovely
I knew Scarlett would come to mind, lol!
lol
amazing what you can do when you put your mind to it
I made our oldest daughter's flower girl dress when she was 4 and cried the whole time..I hate sewing lol
was pregnant with our 4th at the time so that may have had something to do with it
Poor westie!
so your sewing machine is safe from me jilli lol
and flosey would love to have a dil to make curtains for me
I*
hiccup time...
this one didn't last very long
she did the same thing last time she was out - made curtain for spare bedroom
hiccups don't seem as obvious as they used to
Lucky you, flosey!
she's so fast too! her mom is a seamstress and she taught her
when she had her wedding dress made, she wasn't pleased with the top so took it off - along with all the beadwork and completely restitched it all
Wow!
that was my reaction jilli
I would have just cried! would never attempt such a job
(over halfway)
1 to go for me, for half way, then I can go to bed
icon changed
Well, that's it -- bedtime. 193/124 -- not much time tomorrow (bridge in the afternoon).
Good one, flosey -- butit says Mt Maxwell...
yes jilli, thanks, just changed it
and wtg, I'm at 165/152 may get a few more before bed
sure is quiet in here at this time of day/night
oopsie, I am at 274/43...nightie nite Jilli and Flos sweet dreams xx
well done diz,
And I fixed some typos in my writeup.
wd, diz the whiz!
Goodnight all, and...*poof

Just came on, Une, but do 4 plus es6 = 10, and there are no ten letter words.....
Hi everybody :-)

i'm so confused LOL
Welcome to my world!

best dog in the world figuring in today's grid...
Hello te 5/10!
:) Hi Molly :)
HI
hey lady :)
Hi darling Sprite
any luck with the 2nd hand shopping yesterday?
Yes. Found a couch we want new, single bed new, book shelves new and I am ebay bid at the moment. This is all plans
sounds good!
We are happy. We had a look at the friends book shelves they hold well
good!
Friends use the shelves for similar books to ours they hold well. This is what we wanted to see. No use looking and buying if they were not going to hold
no indeed.
My mum says that we shouldn't buy anything unless we are happy with it. i am happy with what we have. How is your weend going?
got out twice this night to pick up my kids from the end party of school, so a bit of a rocky night. But now they are both gone for summer camp, so hubby and I are alone together for the next week.
Well quiet time sounds lovely
oh yes. Ready for some of that!
Found out how much friends paid to clean their house. YUKy
if I had the money, I'd do it too!
They had to as they were moving out. Out of boys and girls who do you think was nasty?
girls. No doubt about it.
Yep. COst the guys over a grand to clean the house to bond returning standard
omg way too much.
Person in question was not even there when they moved
It was bad apparently
told my girl she would not set one step out of the door today before she had returned all plates, bowls and glasses to the kitchen and washed them.
Good Sprite
error errors
Yes i believe you just did Norma.
Sooo Sorry Peoples wrong box

And so ends my petite conversational French. Morning Peri.

it's always hard to fit what you want to say into the limited vocab you have, indeed.
without the a, I think... my french is very ru4y
I only know one French word and it is rude
lol
Funny how we learn the cuss words in other languages.
it may be rude, but it is valid in babble
And I know a couple of polite words in Japanese and Chinese.

guten morgen, Inge
y tell me y...
hi all
good morning, jmc
hi jmc
hi jmc
i have to go change my icon! i am two days behind
hi all
today is a fun theme
hey sue :)
you are only 2 days, jmc. I need to change mine from July 4.
hello Sue
hi sue
if you can, check out Une's icon for today, it is brilliant
guess I will change mine as well. be right back
again? une has been on a roll lately
i went for classic
oh nice one, jmc! One of the 'real' pictures.
une's is cute but not as outstanding as her bastille day one
*raises eyebrows* and why would you have quotes around real? ;-)
because mine is much realer, of course
lol
lol yes that one was top of the bill
If it is a fun theme, I chose my favorite doll to play with, Barbie ... but she is 50 in the picture. :-)
lol long live barbie
she didn't age well
my Barbie has the short hair puff on top of her head. I still have her
morning, all!
yeah but remember she was malformed from day one
If I can remember tomorrow we'll see Snow White
hi uu
hi uusue!
good morning ((Uusue)), wonderful news about your son.
but to have a belly that matches those gigantic boobs
tomorrow's theme is Confetti, Mom
sure she was misporportioned but you didn't realize it back then
thx, mom, we are still giddy!
I bet you are.
what is the news, uusue? Please tell!
thanks Sprite
Mom, that sounds like an original Barbie. Don't get rid of it.
I missed the good news about your son, uu. so glad for him and you.
the DA is dropping the charges!!!!! Our lawyer was astonished - apparently that is something that NEVER happens here.
good morning Molly, she is an original. Minus one toe. I put her in the toaster to see if you would fly
oh WOW that is wonderful! So happy for you both.
(actually what they are doing is asking for a 6-month continuance, then if nothing else has happened they will drop the charges)
what a relief
indeed!!!!!
a good time for him to explore the world elsewhere
we are still asking for an order of protection against her, but it is basically over
morning Hurshy
A order of protection is in order for your son, sue
he has quit smoking, is starting to work out - a lot - and is really throwing himself into his coursework :-)
hi hursh
oh, and there's a photo of him in my profile (some of you are probably getting tired of hearing this) - if you click on it you can see all of him and not just his midsection :-)
good news can't be repeated too often
so anyway, hi to everyone from a very happy mom!!!
such a handsome young man
(and hi, Mom :-)
and to top it all off, my dog is in the grid again! (se4/4)
fireflies. Very nice grid, fast for such a big one. *hugs* to you all, enjoy your weekend
yay, sprite!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mom!! Thank you for a great laugh. (Flying Barbie from the toaster) : D : D
congrats, sprite!!!
whoo hoo sprite
((Sprite)) congratulations, throwing flowers at your feet. See you tomorrow.
brb
Molly, mom caught her before she was in there too long. That is why she is only missing a little piece of her foot
Greetings all from sunny( foggy) northwest spain
It's such a kid thing to do. Put Barbie in the toaster to see if she can fly. Great story! (And good for Mom's save)
ah, spain
hi, joan!
greetings Joansiebone
Rain is in the forecast for the whole week
We are in santigo de compostela

hiya sue
so..sue... how did it go yesterday????
<setting sue up for a scream again>
lol, car!
YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
heheheheeh
YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (didn't want her to scream alone!)
what they are doing is asking for a 6-month continuance, after which the charges will be dismissed if he stays away from her.
Wednesday the girl is giving a deposition to our lawyer (for the order of protection); my son has to be there - this will probably be hard on him
I plan to be there as well (mama bear! watch out!!)
grrrrrrrrrrrrr...u go mama bear
Damn right Sue!
she has the right to ask that I not be present, but the chances that she knows that are small
depends on how familiar she is with system
they had trouble serving her as she hasn't picked up her mail for a long time, but our lawyer's guy finally cornered her
she's a kid without a lawyer, carlee (and I suppose I should feel sorry for her), so pretty clueless, I think
she's been in the habit of getting out of things by acting pathetic, which isn't going to work for her much longer
yes..butu also said they are "familiar" with her in court system
that's because the cops have been called to her place numerous times for disturbances
including at least once when she was telling my son she was going to kill herself - when the cops got there she laughed at them and told them she was kidding, and then told my son how stupid he'd been for taking her seriously
he is well rid of her!!!!
she sounds disturbed
she is, annie, and desperately needs help - my son has finally figured out that he is not the one who can provide it
OK...NBT and more than halfway. I will now get cooking!
bye, car!
Bye everyone! *poof*
bye car.
I am going to take a break..see you all later
good morning everyone:)

Alien Hand Syndrome is a condition that conveniently defines itself: AHS sufferers believe that one of their hands acts completely on its own. A 1990 medical journal tells the story of one longtime smoker who repeatedly put a cigarette into her mouth with her good hand, whereupon her alien hand would remove the cigarette before it could be lit. The disorder is generally caused by brain damage resulting from strokes or physical trauma.

That must happen a lot when you are bilingual.

Oh my, Ygrs, please do.
yes ygrs
thank u! when i push a letter, it's not letting me do it so i can't make any words. what am i doing wrong?
it might be your comp
or you have to click the space'
that says add word
oh great. it let me play the other day, but not now
Are you using your keyboard?
You don't push the letters - merely type them into the Add Word box underneath
Morning all
is the cursor showing up in the "add words" box? ...
when i click "add" it tells me i have to have 4 or more letters. but the letters themselves aren't showing up i the box.
no the cursor isn't showing up in the add box.
... sometimes when you switch to chat or to another page or simply move it ... it seems to disappear
100 left.
i went in and out of "help" a couple of times, but it didn't help
... make sure the cursor is showing up there ... then type the word and hit enter
... and that's why the cursor wasn't showing up ...
hello babblers!
are you typing the letters into the Add Wod box?
Morning Red
re6 after the grim re****s?
when i click to put the cursor in the Add Word box, it blinks like it's there. but when i then click on a letter, the blinking cursor disappears and the letter i clicked on does NOT go into the Add Word box &:o(
ty Cos, I dont have what you want.
Hi Lynxx, How are you doing? How is Stewie?
ygrs - you must TYPE the letters in
yw red
logging out for awhile to go eat! byee
Very well Red. And how are your fish!?

THANK YOU guys for all of your help!!! &:o)

Hi and NBT...
go Jellen go!
hi, all! nice day today, went to the arboretum, took the tram tour (an hour! the arboretum is big!) and then hiked for an hour and a half - hot but not beastly so, and few mosquitoes. Very nice.
Hi, uusue...sounds nice...
I've just been hanging out with the cats and watching poker on TV...
It was. We sprang for a membership and have already gotten way more than our money's worth.
hey sue. ((hugs)) I am resting today too, Jellen! hanging out is very nice. Tom helped me get two walls of the bedroom clear. Now I just need some primer and the right nap of roller and we can start some painting!
hi, stid! maybe we will rest tomorrow - getting outside and walking in the trees was really nice, though.
among the trees is what I really mean...
*pictures uusue swinging from branch to branch...*
Good day kids!
hi, scrabs!
Hi, Scrabbler
clue for the do8 please?
hey scrabs!
hey phaeton!
Hi, phaeton
*gasp* I just cleaned the inside of my car and cleaned all of the windows. I was dripping sweat.
hi
... a person uses do4
well done, scrabs! hey doseffing!
... evening ...
Hi doseffing + phaeton
Thanks, doseffing!
hm. that clue worked! thanks!
ok, that is a weird word. However, it gives me nbs.
and hi, doseffing and phae!
I don't get that clue.
it's a do4/6, scrabs
... I mean to type .... a person who uses do4 ...
Uses the same ending as the receptacle where you dump trash...dump****
... and don't forget the plural for the do9
ty
do4/6 as in idiot, nitwit, dunderhead?
that one, scrabs.
So much for relaxing...it has been determined it is play time...
Am I looking for a compound word?
no, scrabs, one with an ending that you would not have expected
... no ... it's just an ending to the do4/6 you pointed out
No, Scrabbs...see my comment at 6:25?
LOL see you later Jellen -- the rain just keeps pouring down here, taking an eyeball break. *poof*
So it starts out as do4/6 and ends in dumpy***?
Bye, stid
bye, stid
Bye Stid
OR the ending for a young person....young****
right, scrabs
AHHHHHHHHH, I was looking for ending of dumpyard. I am such a do4/6.
I still think it is a weird word.
Yes it is
... yeah ... but if I had a dollar for everytime that I said that ... I'd retire ...
hello all
Hi Owl
Hi TO
especially here, doseffing!
and hi, TO!
and ty for the 8/8! :)
i thgout of you today scrabbler again! and here you are!
What were you thinking?
well , it is just a silly thing.. i sampled bunny shaped cookies at whole foods. and i wondered ho you were, had not seen you for a while before last night
I found 2 matching ceramic bunny mugs at a ya4 sale today.
sweet!
I left them in my father's van though.
my father used to have a van.
Hello, hurshy
i went to get new skechers flip flops and stayed out for four hours :/
Hi Hurshy. My father has a van and finds bargains at ya4 sales. I went with him this morning.
he took me in it to get my learner's permit. then he took me to a parking lot to drive around for the first time. then he said, ok, now drive home. and i said, i really do not think i am ready for that. but he was like, you'll be fine. i ran over a bush. he then agreed to drive the rest of the way home.
Haha.. Good story.
Uh oh, I just found st5 in the grid.
lol hi hursh
hi, just back to wrap up the grid.
i didn't mean that to sound like, as opposed to seeing you all. i just meant to convey that i had done most of it this morning.
i ahev ud4, ap4, up6/7 and up6....missing?

starry!!!
hi hurshy, long time no see
everyone, this is my friend starryjess from ETERNA, the RNA building website.
ty
you can chat there?
yep!
the folding site
how are you starry? :)
yes, not foldit, but a different one, at eterna.cmu.edu
I'm good.
cmu as in central michigan? i studied there
as you can see there is a lot more chatting here than at eterna ... don't be afraid to just join right in
no, it's carnegie mellon
Do you still live in Michigan?
(because I do is why I'm asking)
ah, ty, no jess, they came to us, they have an active adult ed dept
oh ok :)
michigan appeared to be one of the worst states for obesity in that study they just did - most of the others were in the south.
but all states are not doing so hot!
It's the tenth worst, right?
probably, i just saw a map, it didn't say the individual rankings.
i do not know if i care to finish tonight
the sa's are all weird, there are weird po's and a weird oe
coupla weird so
aha. TO i think what you were looking for was up5, a plural.
I am back. Bunny Miss Bea's full name = Miss Beatrix Potter. Hi starryjess.
oe is in the physics babblets :-)
what was she doing?
oh, well, as long as it's in the physics babblets... lol
It was actually Gandalf the Grey making noise upstairs--chewing and tossing cardboard boxes.
gandalf, a newer addition?
ty uu
i think uprose is a word
Nope. Gandalf is 7, Tucker is 6 and Miss Bea is at least 4. (she was a rescue bunny that I fostered then adopted)
hmm is there a up6/7combo?
Yes, I have up + lion growl
i do as well and plural
Hurshy, how are your cats, Marty, Mittens and ...I am trying to remember the 3rd cat's name
eras
Free clue! Don't miss it!
thx, scrabs, I had in fact missed that word :-)
Lucky you, the beneficiary of my free clue. I like to be generous occasionally, and toss free clues into the chat.

Hi
hi herin
st5/14 pls
Not there yet sorry
ok
I am using Lickety's list just not there yet
np
tell me a st*** peri
HI Beth
sheesh, ty bethn
Hi herin, long time no see :)
Been busy
how's the job?
I don't have one any more. It didn't work out. These things happen sometimes you just don't fit the shoe
sorry to hear that,herin, I didn't know
It is ok. I just haven't really said much
hi again, all!
i'm sorry it wasn't right, but if itwasn't a good fit your life would have been a misery
hi sue 1
hi, beth!
That is true. Much happier just tending to the house and family (if the fur kids are family and himself)
HI Sue
just got home from a visit with my mom. very long day....
herin, sorry to hear about the job, sounds like you have a good attitude about it though
fur kids are absolutely family, as are feathered, scaled etc. every family looks different
You have to keep smilling or you will go nuts
Yah I just found the Jazz channel on our tv radio
indeed! I have three furbabies myself :-)
Beth how is your bird?
one fur, one feathered here
(as well as a rather hairy son, whose picture you can see in my profile - you have to click on it to see all of him, though :-)
evening everyone..what an evening34c and 58% humidity..crossy is cooked:(
te5/14 pls
he is very cute Herin, he is starting to be conversational, so that he responds to actions with the appropriate words.
HI Crossy
howdy herin
hi crossy good to see you
howdy bethn:)
evening all!
Dawww Sue. Terribly cute. Was this one of the first times he has worn a suit? or is it the just 'MUM do you have to?
howdy dan
Hi Dan. Beth is the bird a Eccles bird?
we bought it for his court appearance yesterday although as it turned out he didn't really need it
and hi, crossy and dan!
my son is very hairy, more so than anyone else in the family. We just recently found out we have Italian ancestors, so we tell him it is the grandpa that abandoned his family that gave him his hairy legs
well, my son gets it from both sides, so no surprise there :-)
Sue did it all work out?
omg sue, he is adorable
never hurts to wear a suit to court
dan he is a cape parrot from africa
hi all
Hi Jm
way better than expected, herin - they are going to drop the charges!!!! (after 6 months of him staying out of trouble, anyway)
apparently his ex-gf has rather a reputation as being quite unreliable...
Beth cute on the bird. My dad and uncle's had a budgie as children and it new curse words.
so we are all absolutely giddy with relief.
glad to hear it sue, we never get to stop worrying about them
O Thank gods Sue. Time to put the suit to use and have a party :D
and hi, jmc, eventually you will come on to babble and I will not be talking about this any more :-)
lol i always say good news bears repeating
YAY UU's SON!
herin i am so*** to hear about the job not working out
to6/21 pls
I had a sister in law who had an african grey parrot who used to imitate the doorbell and the phone - quite accurately - she was always running to the door only to realize it was the bird
I finally used ebay last night for the first time
Jm Not a drama. I just haven't said anything much
this one has been heard to mutter sh4 but i have really tried to curb my language with this one. our african grey would curse at very appropriate times and it was not always a good thing, but it WAS always funny
LOLs Sue they are such an intelligent bird.
still too bad something will come up eventually
I have been cleaning and tidying and making my house a home.
that will be my task in august after my job is done
15 days
Are you happy about this JM?
this one has my daughters text message alert down to a tee. it drives her nuts. after she picks up the phone he laughs like a lunatic, which really aggravates the hell out of her
i am -- i'd be happier if i had a new job to go to but i am happy
it was time for both me and the center to have a change
That is ok then
helloo! to all who have entered since my last post
Brillant Beth love a bird with a humor button
hi ibd
that is so funny, beth!!
*whew* for a minute i thought your daughter had a stalker bethn
hi lbd
hi bethn! what a funny bird!
hi Jmc!
Hi LB
started to list with 128 left but don't think I will finish
and hi, lbd!
We are finally making a home.
Guess how much crap we tossed last week
the last time we had to board this guy, the lady was changing all the birds food and water - she slipped on a puddle of water on the floor and the seed went all over the room- Jazz laughed hysterically at her and repeated it every time she came back into the room. She was not pleased :)
how much, herin? (I always wanted to play the straight one)
*gets drums ready*
One skip that was 4 metres square. FULL. I am ashamed
wd herin!
yay, herin! You must feel so much better having gotten rid of all that stuff.
I am cleaning out closets etc tomorrow, the big brothers association is having a pick up on monday wo it is a good way to clean out old stuff and help someone out at the same time
i have been tossing crap for about a month now to get ready for the kitchen redo and every week my can is full and i have given boxes and boxes to charity
Just bid on ebay 4 chairs to replace the dinning room chairs as they will cost about $1000 to repair
Woot Herin! I hate the actual process of throwing away, but love to see it go
New Kitchen JM?
peri, to 6.21 is babbler ***gone + you skin breathes through ***s
hope you get the chairs
fringe benefit of mother's death is enough money to redo my kitchen
So do I. The maximum amount we will spend is $200 as that is all that is in the kitty
holy crap Herin, what do they want to do to the chairs for a thousand dollars, gold plate them?
JM I didn't know aobut your mum.
she died friday nov 13 2009
fingers crossed herin
Beth they need French polishing and recovering. If they were family heirlooms then yes but they are not so we will get similar
OK JM.
that does seem to be quite a lot to repair chairs
sorry to hear about that, jmc - still pretty recent...
I was going to say that too Sue
ty she was really miserable for the last year so it was a blessing for her
but she would have loved this game
it is not easy, jmc, we lost my dad june 2009, there are still times every week i think i hae to remember to tell dad this, he will love it
when she couldn't read we would sit and do crosswords outloud with her
lol my dad died in 1985 and sometimes i wish i could share something with him--the people you love never go outofyourlife
amen to that, JMC
my mom died in 1973 - I finally can see ro*** (her favorite flower) without thinking I should buy her some but it took a very long time
That is so true JM. My best friend (who was a brother to me) died in 2005 and some days I still go to pick up the phone to call him
i have friends who never met my husband but comment how they feel they knew him
sheesh i have 249 left!
JMC, I never met your husband. But after you told the story of how you two met, I will feel like you shared one of the best parts of him with me. Thanks.
there are a few million other stories molly! lol he could always make me laugh
my boy says that i have ruined him for life because none of his friends understand when in the middle of a big fight he makes a joke and starts laughing and ends teh fight
I took my mom out for a ride today, nostalgic places , Saratoga Lake, family celebration restaurants, At one point we drove by an old boyfriend's house, I said look Mom that's where Dave lived. She laughed and said the Tire changer - he serviced broken down 18 wheelers. whenever he called my dad would say "beth your tire changer is on the phone" withoout benefit of covering the receiver. I always wondered if that contributed to the demise of that realtionship :)
my boy says we are dysfunctional that way!
lol bethn
I would say you and your boy are more functional than most that way.
I would second that!!
but one of always ruins a good fight!
*of us
that is a very functional argument style, I hold every thing in till i burst over the silliest things and people look at me like i'm nuts
I was at a funeral the other week and they read this: http://tinyurl.com/yeral6b It is so very very true
very sweet, herin :-)
nice poem
To me it means that who ever is gone really is just around the corner waiting to see you one day when it is time
lovely herin.
103 left, i cant possibly finish this
do not feel bad bethn,i have 174 still
228 left
86 here, I am listing but picking out the 4-letter words and other easy ones i missed
i'll clue 71 of them for you if you like :)
I have always loved poetry. Frost, Lowell, Adrienne Rich
:-)
but crossy enjoys the present company for a bit and that is enough whilst i unwind:)
Evening all...taking a break from car show and tile removal...how goes it?
hi, pini!
hi pin
hi pini
howdy pini
hi uu, jmc ;)
hi bethn, crossy, et al
(actually have to take break before I tear my hair out)
good news : we took 2nd in the Mustang Stock Class at the car show and the tile is now removed...
good time to take a break then
congrats pini!
bad news : it rained all day at the car show and two pieces of tile had so much thinset on them that when they came up, it brought some of the subfloor, too
very cool pin my son would be so jealous
* smile *
yay, pini! but bummer about the subfloor
I'll see if I can get a pic from the kids of the car and will post as my icon ;)
thinset is a nice quick leveling fix,but not without its own issues
Hi Pini and poo on the rain
too bad about the floor
thankfully the contractor answered his phone and said the booboo could be fixed with a filler :)
especially when the subfloor area there is pressboard
hi herin
:(
was about to ask what was beneath the thinset:(
oh, and the 'stang...a striking orange '66
oooo a 66! we had an 83 :-(
oh...and only one cut! Not bad for an old broad!
baby blue
ooh, Frank had a black '67 with red interior when we met (it was new at the time)
when i was in the biz and it was a concrete floor that was uneven we used to score the old floor with a quick cut and jackhammer 2 inches off the old floor and then pour 3 inch fresh over top and you have a new level surface
I have very fond memories of that car :-)
must have been pretty, jmc :)
mmm crossy likes the lines on the 66,s
where were you when I needed you, crossy???
we spent quite a bit of time in the back seat, as I recall...
it was pretty enough with its white convertable top
Hey, crossy...know anything about removing baseboard?
oh, my, uu!!!
(Sneaks into Pini's garage for private drool time with the car)
oh, very nice, jmc! :)
(they met in HS)
* giggle * Herin...watch for pic...I'll post when I can!
everybody our vintage has a backseat memory, mine was a gold camaro....
crossy had one of the original shelby gt 350,s in last week...beautiful..darn thing is worth over 90 grand now!
I think I would break my knees if I tried to get in the back seat of one of those things now
Nice Cross
very nice, crossy!!
mine was a van on an arkansas back road
original paint,matching numbers,original overspray..wild
nice crossy!
Nice Cross
no heater and lots of holes i nearly froze my ass off
lol jmc
in at my station that is
ROFL
Cross I would not have given the keys back
Yeah, he posted one on FB...icon changed!
thing was so fine....was saying drive me crossy...drive me....
(will post one of the whole car when they post one ;)
i gotta quit getting distracted...jmc is freezing her buns off and pini's going to post hers as her avatar!
atg least i got to see carol shelbys signature anyways
hi lbd ;)
hi Pini!
My old boss has a Shelby with signature...bumblebee yellow with black racing stripe
is buns the icon if the day? I dont think my camera has an angle wide enough
NICE, pin!!!
I'm not posting my buns, lbd...that'd kill Babble!!! LOL
they are worth the heaven and the earth now pini
oh, talking cars... i used to have a 65 mustang notchback. loved that car
like the cobras
the real ones,not the kits
oh cool lbd!
nice lbd!
i just had a chevy II
but i would beat the pants of the boys in hot cars when we would drag
dumb clucks didn't know how to use a clutch
Great now my cat is chewing her feet.
My first car was a Datsun...
wish i still had it. mom's boss bought it for his kid. i think it's sitting in their barn rusting out.
But JM you are a girl girls couldn't possibly know that
Oh no, LBD!!!
sad lbd
THAT does it! My sister had the mustang - I bought a 68 Camaro. Same thing - no one knew how to use a clutch!
HI Hoot
evening everyone!
hahaha we sucked hoot into the chog
I prefer manual over automatic...love clutching/shifting!
hiya hoot
<-- did not learn how to use a clutch until I was in my 20s - but prefer it now
i loved the four on the floor! that car turned a lot of heads when it was out on the road
pooh i not only knew how to drive i knew how to repair it
and hi, hoot!!
i will never own another car without a clutch
Driving a Toyota Tacoma now - the little one - stick shift!
got me beat, jmc! :)
hi hoot. yup had to learn how to fix things on the car if i was going to drive it.
we had a 72 or 73 vw beetle,it had a hydrostatic tranny,a shifter but no clutch pedal, you just shifted when the rpm,s sounded right
hi hi hi hi hi
i totaled my VW bug and daddy and I bought a new body and dropped the motor and put it in the new body
1600 throbbing cc,s of power lol
damn i loved that bug
funny story - as manuals are much more common in Europe - whenever I rented a car in Switzerland it was always a manual. One day I got to the Geneva airport, went to the rental car desk, and after the usual paperwork the agent hemmed and hawed, and then said, all I have left is an automatic, can you drive an automatic?
I was given the opertunity to buy a 1970's Torana near mint condition for $500 never did
haha uu that is funny
UU, that's funny!
that would of had a rotary engine herin
I assured her that it would be no problem :-)
S's stomped
the early toyotas, datsuns and nissans were big on those rotary engines
had to look up torana. cute little car!
stomp em dan!
go Dan!
IMO...everyone who can drive a manual, can drive an automatic, but NOT the other way around!
Nope Cross straight 6 or 8 I can't remember. But I just about cried depending on the make and year any where up to $50 k now
true pini true
i also had a 76 toyota celica..loved that one:)
my second car was a toyota corolla. love that baby too!
my second car was a rambler
dam - sucked me in and still 7 words. I drove my sisters mustang a couple of times but quickly learned not to put the top down. It's amazing how many 18 wheelers pull up right next to you!
indeed, pini, that's why it was funny
I owned a crayon once, too, lbd! :)
nothing beats a manual choke when you are at 35 below
Tories here are a bit of an icon.
my boy and i drove on a perfect august night on the natchez trace--one of the most beautiful drives in the country--with the top down fire flies every where and rock and roll on the radio-----it was heaven
I learned to drive a stick on an old (74) Toyota Land Cruiser - that thing would go anywhere. Had a manual choke too.
I also had the chance of buying a Datsun 1600 and I didn't.
those land cruisers rocked..they were solid and reliable
and two sticks, one for the low set of 4wd gears, the thing would go straight up a cliff in low 1st gear
need a clue fro the re8

any further signs of your furry friends, jmc?
had a close encounter of the rodent kind last night herin
no but i have piles of poison in all sorts of places now
thanks all -- it was nice to have my hair dry within an hour of washing it this morning. Usually takes more than a day when it's long
Ewwwwwwwwwwwww. But seriously if it is mice or rats they don't do no harm
eww jmc
so*** herin i refuse to cohabit with rodents
same here, stid, I am really enjoying my short hair
yes, they can be dangerous here in the states, lady -- some of the diseases they carry are quite miserable.
oe + letter after Q + abbrev for street + talking horse, Dan
O I forgot about that Stid
Time to set out traps
the deer mice can carry a particularly nasty virus
me, too, jmc!!!! chucked one across the field earlier this week!
ugh lbd thanks again - never would have gotten that
okay well bye all

sweet dreams jmc -- hope the critters are taken care of soon and easily
go dan, go!
nite jmc
if you are wondering about the definition of the oe7, it is in the physics babblets list
I do, stid...the first rep I spoke to has become my one and only go to guy!
6 and all over!
which is now alphabetical for your convenience :-)
also be warned,in certain areas ,deer mice can carry ticks...and in our west coast areas you will often come across tick that can carry rocky mountain spotted fever
(it's a loaner phone, but it works!)
lyme disease, too cross. BAD stuff.
thanks, UU. i was wondering what it meant
good for you pini!!!
indeed stidmama
*proud little sister look* persistence (peskiness) pays!
you got that right!!!!
(just wish the screen was bigger and a manual would be nice)
what kind of phone is it, pini?
well, it's a loaner right, which implies something bigger/better is on the way?
Env3
po7?
(can probably find a manual online somewhere)
not really, stid...waiting to upgrade so that Camo Mom and I do so at the same time since the upgrades require a new 2-yr contract...want the contracts to all be at the same time, not different
po + ***i Arnaz + brit thanks
po7, two peas in a po* + mod****, California, wine country
Apparently we don't have Lyme disease here but someone has it. Itis really stupid as the powers of stupid say that it is not possible
Person may have contacted it here in the states and not realized it til he got to Oz, herin
I don't think they have left Aus. But my theory is who is to say that a bird hasn't flown in from one of the islands like Indonesia and had a tick on them.
there is an "incubation period"
hard to say, Herin.
I can't remember the details but if someone has something then it is a bit stupid to say NO you don't
need the second pr7/8 combo (the one before puritan)
pr8: to jut out
okay, off to do other things again... (((hugs all))) see you-all later!
cya stid! :)
<-- going to find something to eat...
hi and nbt
