i use the wifes tablet for all that peri,i cantake pics,then use photo editor for cropping,lighting adjustments and red eye etc and it come with a video camera...crossy loves all in one devices;)

I think you can appeal to the other members of the family (maybe) by stating what a critical time this is for your son and that you all need to work together and be on the same page so he is able to grow and make good decisions. Explain that if he sees you all divided that only confuses him. The bottom line is you ALL want what is best for him and to give him every opportunity to succeed in life...not fail.
I feel for you Mich...tough stuff. But strong parenting creates strong children. and weak parenting creates weak parenting. You can't control the other parental figures, although you can try to persuade them. If persuasion doesn't work...just do your best. It sucks that they are ruining this child though :(

a video camera can be a very useful tool. record the boy acting out, talking back, mouthing off and misbehaving. cut it together like a highlight real and present it to mil as her work. this is what she has created. let her know that you love her but that she is causing harm to her beloved/spoiled grandkid, causing hurt to you and creating a situation that damages the relationship of her son and his wife. if that makes no impression on her let her know that you are prepared to cut her off and stand firm. oh, and tell her son to grow a set of nuts (if you'll pardon my swahili) and do what's right.
He's not cosying up per se, he doesn't defend her or anyuthing but he won't openly oppose her either. This honor your mother stuff. I keep telling him there are honoralbe ways to explain our position to her but he insists it won't help.

My mother-in-law tells a funny story about a Mother's Day that she was going to be unable to visit her Mother, so she sent flowers. At the last minute, she was able to visit after all. I just don't understand places with no air conditioning. It seems very primitive.
when I went to visit her in Boone, NC (undergrad), there was no AC in the "quaint" hotel -- they said it never got hot enough to need AC -- RIGHT!
when I lived in Geneva (Switzerland) NO ONE had air conditioning, and you needed a permit to install it; in order to get a permit you needed a reason - something medical, or equipment that required it - comfort was not a sufficient reason (this was in 1995)

Stid, I really feel for you with the body thing. It's soooo frustrating when your body can't keep up with all the things the mind wants to do. I have POTS as a long term effect of my chemo, and I fight that fight every day.
