thanks diz
I've been hearing via email from a Dane person in Sydney who had seen a drawing I did of Dane pups. She said if I visit Sydney in Jan or Feb she will take me to a dog show! Very tempting.
wtg flsoey
ty Dee
Se also wants my book :-)
wtg flosey

I'm assuming the ir 5 is the lone i that i don't have!
thanks jilli, interesting bird, will read it akk kater

hi josh and wtg
nan - checked the list. only one dr7
I'm baffled by that lone I too (I know it's ir5)
nan i'm not seeing it yet either
both the dr8 and the ir5 have the same last 3 letters./
think gerund
ir 5 making angry....
it isn't a word I'd use, seems strange
oh duh there it is
i've only ever seen the root of ir5 used as a noun in real life, not as a verb
ty -- couldn't see that!
but the verb forms are all accepted, so
nbt, nbs
wtg nan
jilli, i would be taking that up!!
gr 7/48

nbt (couldn't believe that ir5 was a real word!)
the ir5 has been in the grid a few times lately
wtg jill
note to self: if it wasn't a word yesterday it probably isn't a word today
nbs
ahhh the pi5 is very weird
almost impossible to monkey
absolutely blind to that one ...
point count??
weird word...ends in the gerund
pi 5/16
ty
you weren't kidding that was weird!
I see I got rid of a lot of those markings in the profile, but not all -- thy come from things like "curly apostrophes" and such
there is a pt 6
ty vash found it
I have gr 7/48 what are stats for other gr 7?
gr 7/36

hi herin...just got here not too long ago myself
trying to survive the heat and high humidity here
100 down -- good night :)
Night Cyber
Not a fan of humidity.
sorry to hear that dee
I have to trim a tree off the window. It is making a horrid squeeck noise when ever the breeze blows
will be glad for fall; that is for sure.... pretty scary noise at night herin
apparently dagnab it! is not a real word
:))) rasta
Actually it just sounds like the noise an animal makes like a dog yipping.
Rast neither is bing
awww better than the scary one then
It is one of those grating noises you can hear in the lounge but not so much in the bedroom
im missing two 7's.. i know one of them is an in7
ANd I am very happy with have a mattress recycling place that picks up. Who ever thought of that idea is a smarty

ga5/20 was tricky
Opps I just spotted anotherone
I don't like grids of this size without an S
Jill it doesn't have much flow.
too right, herin
I am just doing my usually Cat-Bat-Mat thing
painful grid I agree
re6 x 2
glad to hear even you are finding that, dee!
hands out bandaids for the sufferers
hey ru
hi ru -- are you just cruising happily through this?
yes ..sorta
I haven't found the 8 yet though
Hi Ru

YAY dee! (that was fast)
hey all
just wandering by for a few
hi stid!
hello stid -- I was just going to head bedwards
may I help anyone before I leave?
it's the te - thanks dee! looking now
good idea, jill, and one i shall emulate soon!
and got it
stidkid's second play is now over -- just striking the set and a quick bite to eat at a restaurant before he and tom get home.
yqw... te 6/24 def an amorphous white powder, Tb 2 O 3 .
Then only one rehearsal each day this week and "tech" and performances next week and we are done. Done with the plays, and done with summer. I can't believe how quickly the time has gone
wow it sure has!
done with summer? It's just starting, stid!
probably bittersweet that it is over
well, school starts in one month, jill -- tomorrow I put in my application to be a substitute teacher!
good luck on that stid
hey stiddie :) *BIG hug* Morning jilli et al.
I was hoping to make more progress on both house and yard, dee! LOL oh well -- there is always next summer, right?
I hope you can really relax and enjoy August, stid
(((((((SPRITE))))))) hello my dear! I miss you!
and vice versa! Miss you a lot!
hi sprite!
I am going to do my durndest, jill! LOL
hi-from-the-past sprite!
how are you? are the kids on vacation? are there lovely flowers everywhere? Most of the flowers in my yard are not doing well -- many just gave up entirely this year due to the cold and the wet.
stid, my garden is lush!
that's nice jill!
am housesitting in Groningen. Lovely garden, lots of flowers. Kids are here with us, in between ot5 vacations. We are well, mostly. And you?
Sorry Cash, was transferring from team to train... yeah hard to get words or chat to scroll. Easier on this xoom than ipad though.
And auto correct is my nemisis Vash that was supposed to read.
that's lovely, sprite! I am well enough -- migraines were mostly gone and then had three in July. Hoping it was a last-ditch effort to make me miserable and they are on the way out. Minimizing reading has really helped.
*wonders if Sparks is writing in the wrong window*
And tram not team ARGH!
the hip hasn't been bad lately, either, so I feel quite strong! :-D *flexes muscles*
Hope, was a conversation about 10 min ago stidmama.
nemesis too, not nemisis, lol!
aw stiddie, stupid migraines :( Good for the hip though. For the head: often rub feet. Seriously.
has anyone else been trying "banana" over and over?
LOL sparks!
*giggles at Sparks*
hm. rub feet. That actually sounds nice!
Lol yes.
yes of course, stiddie, my monkeys keep trying that.
I have, stid -- and it's time I went and had one, too (my sleeping pill is a banana and milk)
it works if you use an o. unfortunately, that's not a word. it should be.
okay, for NBT and sleepy-bye, the i on the far right please?
sweet dreams jill (((hugs)))
hey mab!
*blushes furiously* one advantage to getting really random words is trying to type on touchpad when it's bumpy. Total potluck with what I'm hitting
stid, if you look at migraine on energy-level, it is basically a severe overload at the upper neck and head. Hence the rubbing of the feet... works good!
ir5, stid -- getting angry
night jilli
sleep well jilli
oh -- and sprite -- did you see I got my teaching certificate? Now legally allowed to torture kids in various topics grades K - 12!
Good night
thanks jill!
oh wowwwweeeeeee! WTG stid, you did so well! Gratz!
goodnight/day all...*poof
and those kids are lucky to get you.
*proud mama look* I would NEVER recommend doing what I did to get here, but I am glad I am here nonetheless.
*evil grin* Yeah, sleeping your way up sucks *Dugs beneath table*
well, a teacher I was helping a couple years has already asked if I will sub for her this coming year, and so have a couple others from the more local school! I am putting off applying for permanent or full-time positions until I feel more human again.
oooooh. SPRITE!!!! I shall come over there and give you a piece of my mind!!!
hahahahaha.....please do! I'd love to have you here.
*reconsiders* I don't have that much to spare... *sprays sprite with whipped cream instead*
all kidding aside, I know, hun. It was really tough. And you did it.
well, this computer is about to die. stidkid #1 (who is skating on thin ice...) used my computer without the plugin that was right next to the chair he was using. So I have to either move or use it all up. *grumble* So if I disappear, it's not your fault...
how wonderful you already have contacts. Am not surprised they ask for you, you left an impression. And very wise to wait a bit, get yourself back together first is really smart, I think.
argh... kids!
I think so -- I am working on getting the house in order again, and going through three years of papers (mine, tom's, the kids') and such. It will take a while. On days I am not "working" I will have plenty to do this autumn! LOL and there are always mid-year openings.
what about you sprite? have you been taking any more classes? I am thinking of taking a class in either one of my languages or music this coming year -- just for fun though, NOT for a grade!
oh yes :) Don't you hate paperwork? If you have room enough, put it in boxes and forget about it for 5 years... then throw it all out, lol!
no, didn't make it with the classes. Still learning how to survive life. But getting better.
oh, GMTA!!!! I rented an extra storage locker for a few months sprite! Put books, papers, clothes... extra furniture and such in it and will be starting to retrieve things over the next couple months!
Good for you sprite -- just making the attempt is a start.
Sorry for interrupting, what subject/year level do you teach?
hehehe :) Good thinking!
feel free to interrupt, Sparks, glad to have you join the chog anytime
We painted the bedroom (first time in 11 years) over the last couple weeks, and are putting it back together now! I have a few pics on my website, but will be putting up some "finished" pics tomorrow I think.
hey sparks -- I want to teach mid-level language arts and social studies, but am certified to teach elementary (K-8) or Reading (K-12)
ah good, will check it out!
I found some nice little touches at IKEA, and Mother bought them for me. I am in love with the light fixture...
being in love with your stuff is great
I also picked up a few things for the living room! :-D needed a proper space to "frame" the framed diploma and teaching certificates. *silly mama grin*
Got a great link for that age range
congrats on going pro, sparks!!!
hahaha why silly? You worked your ass off to get them. Be as proud as you can be.
Been dying to share it. Google John Davitt. Saw him talk last year. His new tools site has something called a learning event generator. Very cool stuff
yep. I like having some nice little things, even if no one ever comes to visit. I think it has to do with the German Shepherd who thinks he's a lap dog...
<-- that pic was taken about three weeks ago, Sprite! just after I lopped off all my hair again.
sounds good, Sparks!
Thanks saw how much fun you guys have and had to go pro, wish skill came with it!
wow stid looking good!
oooh. looks intriguing will check it out tomorrow sparks!
oh, skill is pretty hit-or-miss with this game, I am afraid. But we have fun anyway!
just wanted to ask, did you just get pro? Welcome to the madness, Sparks :) Skill will come, with practice. I promise ;)
thanks spritely! if only I could shed the chubbiness (grad school is NOT good for waistlines) as easily as the hair
babble has a great community. Nice people, very supportive. And fun.
Yeah just got it.was really excited
i went pro years ago but have never updated anything
Next to me you'd look too thin, stiddie. Remember that :)
LOL vashon! silly girl!
hm. all that great dutch cheese, I suppose?
On the learning event generator thing, go into wiki and look at the primary school version. Great with smart boards
yes you have been with us for a long time, vash. Never felt the urge to get an icon? ;)
i know...just like facebook, have never put a pic there, either
I have never had a chance to use a smart board -- hope I get to some day.
mostly eating disorder and no exercise since the damaged pelvis. But yes, the cheese is great, lol.
I don't usually but my nephew has been on me to get one.
thanks sparks -- are you also an educator?
Smart boards are fun
i need to get to bed...work in the morning
oh, that's rough sprite. I drink tea, actually -- I make a big pot of it in the morning and drink that all day long whenever I feel I need to eat something. It works to quell the non-hungry appetite
sweet dreams, vashon!
sounds good, stiddie!
I used to be a 6/7 and music teacher, but now I'm an elearning consultant
sleep well, vash, and dream even better
G'night
neat-o, sparks! I have been "attending" webinars through classroom 2.0 and a couple other places to learn more about how to integrate tech in classrooms. I have issues however with the assumptions that all assignments work for all students -- we have too many rural kids with neither internet nor computers (nor reliable cell service)
I miss teaching but in this job I'm working with teachers to help build skills
I love the middle school years, though! some folks think I am crazy, but when I volunteered in a 6th grade classroom teaching creative writing a few years back it was like coming home
teaching teachers is something special
Yeah same here stid but ways around that with differentiated teaching and planning.
I have been so grateful to have experienced educators who are willing to take the time to teach newbies like me
nothing crazy about it, stid, it is a great age.
It's the best age group I agree
yes, that is what I think -- I want to work in my home community, so am trying to figure out just what is available within the school to support the kids whose families have fewer resources.
Well if you ever want advice or help at all let me know stid. Happy to shoot you links
except when your own are that age... perhaps I will feel differently in a few years, but right now you couldn't pay me enough to teach high school! LOL
thanks sparks -- I will take you up on that for sure.
I love to see how the babble network works again :) You rock, Sparks!
hehehe stiddie... I think you could do it. Mine are there now. And I still love them. Most of the time ;)
With my students I used to have twitter length responses and kids could use mobile tech, reg computers or pen and paper to complete. Worked a treat for our class pin board
Cheers mate!
oh, I am suddenly so sad -- checking my "friends" tab and saw a couple of the babblers who have passed away. I am not going to remove those links, but so sad.
aw stiddie.... yes indeed. It is inevitable with a community. We'll remember them with love and gratitude.
That's terrible! Had that in one of my other games. Was so sad.
that's funny sparks - one of my first creative writing lessons I ever did was "microlit" twitter length stories. The kids were so happy at first that they only needed 140 characters, then frustrated at how difficult it is to distill an entire story into that length
evening all :)
hi mrp!
hey mrp! (((hugs))) meet Sparks, our newest addict
Oh definitely stid.
um, newest babbler! *wicked mama grin*
Hello mrpresident
hey mrP :) Hi Griffums!
Lol thanks for the intro!
hey griffums!
hi sprite!
oh, down to 3% battery. I think I will say bonne nuit (bonjour for mrp) and toddle off to bed.
oh, down to 3% battery. I think I will say bonne nuit (bonjour for mrp) and toddle off to bed.
Think i've lost connection, dang mobile tech! Must be tunnels.
Think i've lost connection, dang mobile tech! Must be tunnels.
Think i've lost connection, dang mobile tech! Must be tunnels.
oh I'd love to write a story that short! Wonderful challenge, stid.
hi sparks! :) welcome to the fold
I think the internet glitched...
sprite, I will send you the lesson plan, and you can try it on your kids. It's actually rather fun.
no, this was the 2 am hiccup. Reset of server, every day at same time.
yep, the 2am timewarp!
yeah i knew that
oh great, stid! Please do! Will be better with answering now. Promise.
Thank you mrpresident
nice to meet you sparks, have a lovely week, all!! (((hugs and choclits and really good coffee for all))) *POOF*
*hugs stid*
G'night and nice to meet you too.
I can't see little flag by my name. Do I need to add it somewhere?
you must select your country, I think. And check the Show Profile thing.
I'm procrastinating because i'm stuck in the puzzle... thanks sprite
I know the feeling.
did you spot the gerund ending and played around with it? It is pretty rewarding in this grid.
Might say goodbye, almost to my stop. Thank you all so much for the warm welcome. Look forward to future chats. Have a good evening. And I believe I should say... *poof* from what I've seen when people go.
'Night!
hehehe you can say whatever you want, but poof is correct, lol. Sleep well, Sparks. Great to have you along.
Will look at home sprite, bye for now
sorry.... not sleep well, but have a good trip home
what sleep? you actually get sleep?
me? Rarely, lol.
beautiful cat, mrP, btw. Royalty!
I'm too sleepy and way too slow at this - my skills are dusty! Off to bed. Nice to see a few names I remember here!
sleep well, Griffs!
what happened, mrP? Real life came between you and babble again?
thanks sprite, she was my cat love
sorry, emails, bull$hit, the lot... my stalker is at it again
what is real life?? I live in babble to avoid that dimensional delusion
I can see why. She has real personality. Hell no, not again? Is he emailing you? Isn't that proof of some kind?
he is doing worse sprite, it is in my profile
will email you the incident report... he is a liar and uses others to now harass me
what does your lawyer say?
the police are now very concerned... my lawyer is all for defamation, but he has no money, so what is the point?? it is a civil case and doesn't get him gaoled
if he is convicted, it may help with later criminal cases...
but, I just want to serve him the papers!
true, and live in hope
yes, anything you can do to help you feel powerful against him. He is so totally out of his mind!
well, today I spoke to him from a distance and told him I was suing him and getting a violence order out against him, I then walked away saying.... 'keep spreading your lies Max... you will just be paying me more!' I don't think he liked that
good for you!
i was just so angry with him!! i have to now control that and go to court.
yes. You know he is pushing you because it will help HIS case if you blow up, don't you?
yes, but what i said to him was not threatening, it was a fact!
and he will be served two sets of papers this week
don't you think it was polite of me to let him know? LOL!!
no, that was just clear and to the point. He wants you to blow up, at him, or better even, at somebody else in public. Then he can 'proof' you are the one who is out of it.
hehehe yes very polite!
very good. One set for defamation and the other for the PVO?
yes, he won't be please?? do you think?
I think he will be very pleased, lolll. NOT! I hope he will take up the challenge though, and not back out.
mrP, can you explain the PVO to me? Is that different from the order to stay away from you for a certain distance?
he is too chicken$hit to confront me, get's others to do it for him
what a loser... picking on a woman!
and now the 'federal police officer' is being investigated
he just keeps on pulling people in and frigging them over!
impersonating a police officer is punishable by law here
did chog froze? Or just you?
sorry sprite!!
was looking up the title deed for the Prick's house, see how much money he owes on his mortgage and how much I can get out of him
lol no problem. Can you explain the PVO to me? Is that different from an order to stay away from you for a certain distance?
plus, he did get paid, allegedly, for the 'sale' of his business... so will find that out too
whatever money he has, including furniture, will be seized by the sherrifs department once my case goes through
never mind, I managed to google it
it is sprite... gaol time for impersonating an officer
even if he was an officer, he had NO right to do what he did
i will send you the incident report now ok??
please don't share it with anyone darling
oh, hold it, I am not at home
no I won't. Can you send it to sarcassm@hotmail.com ? I can receive it here then. The planet addy is only accessible at home.
have sent it to both addies,
you now have my personal addy as well
Any clue for the ta5/12 please it won't take tauon???
wonderful honey, am reading it
DTins: black sticky stuff + active verb
the timtamslam info you need: bite off a small corner from each end of the timtam, take your favourite hot beverage (coffee, tea, hot choc) and use the timtam as a straw.... it will become hot and soggy. put it in your mouth, let it dissolve and swallow!
TY sprite
or derog term for a disabled person
not liking that there is no s, or ed... grrrr
I have told my daughter that she must take a picture of me doing the timtamslam, so we will make sure you get to see it, lol
but two very rewarding endings, mrP
ok, I read your mail. Will answer by mail.
good morning everybody
hi ruby!!
absolutely sprite!! I want pics from you, crossy, ruuster and peri... insisting!!! lol!!
if you can do video, I want that too!! please!
did you see the video of the birds in my profile sprite??
{{mrp}} reading over the chog, I see that your awful saga continues. I would think you would be better off not speaking to the guy, even at a distance. that's what lawyers are for.
how you going ruby??
When we filed our complaint against the dog guy, he came to my house to beg for me to drop it, then his wife called me, saying my husband was a liar. WhenI advised the gendarmes of both incidents, they gave me their cell number and said to call them IMMEDIATELY
that the people were not allowed any contact with us
and that I shouldn't talk to them
hi rubyfoo, good advice. Not a word anymore to the needledick
[[sprite}}
I want to draw attention to my icon today. It is so cute :)
he's surely da**
email sent, mrP.
indeed ruby!!
once my Max saw himself reflected in a door and got really scared....no genius, he
thanks sprite... will go look
lol no, not very smart. I was amazed at terra at the mirror. He didn't care about his own image, just didn't react. But when I entered the image, he looked from me to it and back. Smartass :)
that is too cute sprite!
i have an email to send you... it is fantastic... will send it now
thanks :) I like the icon so much myself :D
ok sending you a great one! ready??
ready :)
there it is!
of course feel free to share it, but take out my addy when forwarding it please!! :))
but I already know you would do that :D... thanks hun
I always do :)
I don't share that addy with just anyone you know!! **hugs**!!
omg.... that is a very sneaky illusion! Oh LOLLLLL that is great!
isn't it wonderful!!?? I luved it!
i get some great stuff, will have to pass them on... very clever, nothing dirty
took me a while!
i had to go to the answer!!
was looking for the silhouet etc. But I am a book person/word person... so at some point it jumped out at me.
i was looking at everything but the object !!
brb, life is calling
*ppof**
bye mrP and rubyfoo
sharing: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MleXPV xLGX0
life stopped for me, thanks to my better half... can lay back and enjoy babble
te6 please?
your better half is a sweetie
this is an awful clue but I don't know a better one: first 3 letters of latin for world + loving both men and women + vowel.
he was dead meat a few days ago!! LOL
thanks sprite, perfect clue
yeah lol I don't say he doesn't make mistakes... we all do. But he IS a sweetie. And he has a nicely adjusted package. *innocent look*
do you have the pi5? I just cannot find it! Even looked in lickety's clues which P I was missing
hahaha!! indeed sprite!!
Morning all!
morning beckyj!
pi + gerand
grrrrr that is NOT a word! Thank you, mrP, totally new one for me.
it is mathematical
and as maths isn't a word, I agree
*mumblemumbleforcryingoutloudcrazymath smumblegrumble*
hi bec :)
hi :) how is everyone?
yeah, math is rubbish when language is your 'thing'
happily battling with this grid, enjoying the sun in the garden
how about yourself, beckyj?
sounds lovely sprite!
I am good thank you, I am currently relaxing on my couch trying to take down this grid! Slowly but surely...
that is the way :)
indeed!
:)
morning all
I so want fandango to bethere!
Morning, Kall!
hi Kallia... yes, and banana!
oh yes,hadn't noticed that
happy to share the misery, grinnnn
lol
do you have sunshine today Sprite?
It is beautiful here, going into the garden shortly to hand dye some fabric
hi kalli!
on and off. Just a moment ago it was so lovely, all the flowers in the garden radiant with sunlight. And now it is dark and gloomy :(
hello Mr P
oh wow! I love all the things babblers do. What do you use the fabrics for?
just dark here... and stupid a$$ dogs next door barking constantly!!
oh all sorts of things, art quilts, fabric postcards, anything I want to make
erodes the nerves, barking dogs.
that is not nice Mr P...we have one of those next door to us
sounds great, Kallia. I'd love to see it :)
I dye it and then block print
we have to 'deal' with it, cause they are their 'babies'.... get stuffed and train your dog
oh I so agree with that mrp
teaching your dog not to bark isn't hard at all. It only takes some time and attention.
anniesatticroom.blogspot.com
there you go sprite if you want to take a look
one of their dogs attacks our dog!! biting, snarling, wanting to kill her. and their answer?? "oh, she is just being territorial as your dog came here after her!" No, leash your beast and get some rehab
it takes very little time indeed sprite! my 'princess' was trying it on when she was young... I sorted her out in 2 days... hasn't barked since!
my son brought his dog on Thursday, first time he has been here, ..Dempsey just strolled up the path with not a sound,,,lolthe next doordog went bsolutely crazy
just did, you make wonderful stuff! And very broad range. From cute and funny to really artistic!
she would sit on the opposite lounge, barking right at me! A shot in the face with a water pistol filled with a little vinegar and water in it sorted that out!! and she had no idea where it came from
thanks Sprite, try my hand at most things
very lovely stuff there kalli!
depends on the mood...I never know what is going to happen...I just start
ty Mr P :)
we taught terra from the beginning. When he barked, we ignored him. When he stopped, we payed him lots of attention. Trained him to be ok alone as well. And never urged him to bark at the door either. He NEVER barks. Oh well... sometimes, very softly, in his dreams :)
I like that, Kallia. No need to focus on one style or thing.
I love it, and it's great to have time to indulge. I've met some great people in swap groups...Glant for one :)
oh how nice!
fireflies for me! Apart from the pi5, I liked this grid a lot.
it's not a bad grid...well done Sprite
first run finished and I've got 62 left for later maybe

thanks Une and good morning
hello everyone
not really looking peri..just kinda staring at teh grid and if i should find i word i plug it in
Une, I received the calendar and am thrilled.
carlee is off to the PB
ok
A rough copy of a letter is called a dr***, the gerund form is an 8
need to get ready for food pantry, also doing laundry, bbl
ty Molly
hi molls
by peri
annie, so glad you like the calendar! It was really fun to put together :-)
thx for the 8 and for that right-hand I! I also need the right-hand O for nbt...
...and never mind.
nbs and nbt,, better get some exercise
bye sue
annie, I also gave a copy to the gentleman who fostered the "cover dog" for a looong time -- he was delighted :-)
BTW he has over 30 dogs!!
I just went to reach for my muffin and spilled coffee all over my desk..under the monitor, keyboard, mouse, mouse pad. Cleaned it up with no ill effects, thank goodness.
Une, this man has over 30 dogs or he fostered 30 dogs...both are awesome. do you foster the dogs on the calendar. I just love them.
*d8d
*did ---- LOL
jeez, glad you didn't have a coffee disaster!
no, but my mouse pad is soaking to get the coffee out. no big deal.
He has dogs of his own but also fosters a lot -- and hates to part with ANY of them but knows that when he sends pups on transports to forever homes, he's making room for MORE fosters that need in-between homes :-)
Very sweet older man -- he and his life live waaay out in the country :-)
No, I can't foster, since I already have 3 dogs of my own and don't have a fenced-in yard -- my contribution is transport -- now doing that pretty much every Saturday :-)
Une, what ever you are able to contribute of your time is wonderful
You are doing a grand thing, Une.
We worked with boxer rescue back in KS. Fostering, transporting, whatever was needed.
These two lugs snoring next to me now came from boxer rescue.
boxers are sweet - my chiropractor has one and she greets me at the door everytime I go - with her toy in mouth to play...lol
Boxers are such sweeties -- Annabelle, one of the rescue pups this last Saturday, is part boxer -- she rode up front with me and melted my heart! :-)
bkj e
sounds like you did great work, bea :-)
hey, river, inge, bea, et al
morning all, just reading your posts Une about fostering dogs. I just adopted a dog Saturday at an adoption fair and the woman who fostered her was so sweet with all the dogs she brought and my dog has been with her for about six months before I got her. She seems really sweet and well adjusted-already making herself at home here.
Hi River and bea
how nice Luv - good luck with her
Good for you for adopting, luv.
luv, that's GREAT!! I've met sooo many kind, loving folks who foster/transport!
hello
thanks River, will have to post a picture of her if I can get my icon to change-been having problems with that
she's a powderpuff chinese crested. Most chinese crested people think of are the homely hairless one but she's got pretty, white fur.
I, ahem, pictured them that way too -- by all means, post a pic! LOL
Luv, what is her name?
Her name is Lexie. I read up on the breed and it's possible for both the hairless and the powderpuff to be born in the same litter
my brother rescued a great pierinise (sp?) last year. She is beautiful but quite skiddish.
just found pics in google image -- wow, such a difference with hair! :-)
(and very cute name)
river, here in Nashville we have a rescue called "Big Fluffy Dogs" that takes in Great Pyrrhenees and other biiiig dogs :-)
I love that name - will have to remember that one for any future dogs in my household. My old girl is failing quickly - congested heart fairlure - we are enjoying every day we can with her.
Hi
yes, big difference with hair. I'm trying to post a picture but my computer isn't cooperating right now
hey, herin :-)
hi herin
sorry to hear that River, I know they're a part of the family and tough to see them fade
just checked out pics on google - how cute
hi again, all, just wanted to pop in for a minute to appreciate all of you with rescue dogs (and those who help to rescue them) - have a rescue dog and two rescue cats myself
I just read last night on Animal Lib a beautiful story on the Great Pyrrheness dogs.
hey, sue -- looks like we're all huge animal lovers! :-)
Une: http://tinyurl.com/3buk5hf Thought you may like this story
hi sue
I had 2 rescue cats..just mixing
my brother has been taking her everywhere to try and socialize her but she was most likely abused as a small pup and just does not do well with people coming into his home.
Une I say just read the story though as the rest of the stuff on Animal Lib can be upsetting
ok...i gotta get ready..wish me luck today...and/or inner strength
I have 2 labs - love them to death - my 13 year old Kerri and my 4 year old Tori - they are such special girls
Hi back too
all the best carlee
Love Carlee. ANy word?
and hello ((Herin))
River, one of my adopted girls is a precious beagle mix who was apparently abused by children -- she's great with adults and cats and dogs but terrified of kids -- have accepted that it's not gonna change - have had her several years now . . .
no word... i will know more in a couple hours...
best of luck and hugs, carlee
Ok
Loves
Une. When you get the chance read that tiny url
before my labs we had a shephard mix that we got from the animal rescue league as a pup - pups were abandoned on the side of a highway - who could do something like that - they were already forming a pack when picked up. She was a wonderful dog - first one we had and excepted my kids wholeheartedly when they were born.
will do, herin -- copying it to look at later -- THANKS!
Let's see if my icon has changed to Lexie. It seems that I can get it to change if I go directly to Babble but if I use BabbleExpert it won't change
Luv is that your dogs ears?
now that's not Lexie, will try again
OMG, Lexie is ADORABLE!!!!
carlee, I am so sorry about your Dad. I wish you strength and love today.
Oh yeah, it loaded!
just refreshed and there she is - she is adorable
Luv is that her ears sticking up?
{{{{{carlee}}}}}}}}
River, aren't labs just amazingly loving and wonderful?!
yes Herin she has big ears that are very expressive
Awwwwwwww
Luv, she is just too cute for words!
they sure are Une
how old is she Luv?
My cat is a big ass meatloaf of a thing. Yes she needs to not be so fat but she steals the other cat's food regadless of what we do
she's about 18 months old and weights 9 lbs.
Transported a black lab mix a couple of weeks ago -- he spent the 70 mile drive with head on my shoulder :-)
herin, I have the exact same problem!!!
awwwww
so now when you think of a chinese crested, you can replace that image you always had of them with hers!
herin, we need to give equal time to you cat people! LOL!
une, that is so sweet! My Sera is a labradoodle rescue :-)
anyway my router has once again been acting up, I have to get to work, so I am going to go shower and make breakfast, back in a bit
mine are always at my side no matter where I am....especially my old girl - I think she knows her time is coming so she doesnt go far from me
sue, at Xmas I was dancing with my brother's labradoodle and she got so excited she knocked me to the floor (with love, of course) LOL
bye Sue - have a great day
need to get crackin' as well - great to visit with all of you -- byeeee *poof*
time for my breakfast as well - be back in a bit
p.s. if you click on my flickr photos you can see sera the labradoodle and cheshire the very fat cat :-)
bye Une
bye everyone. I have to get ready to take Lexie to the vet for her check up too
Hi friends
Is anyone on here also playing 'Words with friends'?
Hi Pinny
My cat just thinks no one ever feeds her
Good morning, I have one quick work that is driving crazy and then I have to leave. I need a clue for pi5/15, please?
pi and gerund
If anyone does play 'Words with friends' please add me! My username is PinnyPoppins
Never heard of that game, Pinny
Thanks Annie but I do not know what gerund means
ty annie and gm all
it is a 3 letter ending to a word meaning an action...as in do***, go***, etc
I would love to play words with friends but doesn't taht use internet?
Hi crossy :)
Thanks got it and learned something knew. Have to go have a great day one and all.
bye, marc
Hi to anyone I missed
Pinny do you need the internet and iphone for that game
bye
Greetings to my Babble buddies!
good morning scrabs
Hi Scrabs. Thank you so much for the book recommendation. I am really enjoying "The Untethered Soul".
Hi wv
Isn't it great? It has changed the way I think about myself, others, and life.
It's a very good nudge in the right direction in regards to how and what you think about things/people.
And most importantly, how you think about yourself.
I need to re-read it. I highlighted the sentences that mattered the most to me.
GMorning Babble Peoples.....
good morning maryte
hi again, all!
Hi MAry & Sue
Hi, scrabs!
hello, hello!!
Hi, Maryte!
hello!!
hi all :)
Hey mrp
Grad
Oops
mrp!
hey girls!! :)) how is everyone ??
I'm settled in pretty good
did the deed today... got an Apprehension Violence Order out against the Prick... hopefully the courts will make it an interim order so he can't come near me anymore. Have updated my profile as he did it again this weekend.
Chic!! where are you hunny?? are they treating you like gold?? you are my golden girl!
I'm in rehab. They are getting me my epidural so I don't hurt as much
See you later breakie is here.
yay, mrp!!!!! (for the AVO) and boo prick!!!! (for bothering mrp)
see ya chic!
yeah sue, he is a loser
sounds like!!! We are in court next Monday to get an order of protection against my son's ex-gf, hopefully that will go well
it should do sue, she has proven herself to be dangerous
have you gotten money out of her family/her for damage to your car?
she has indeed. we just don't want to use her testimony (at the deposition) in court as she (falsely) accused my son of many things that could get him in real trouble
when it is over, take her to court over the damages
no, mrp, and that is not likely to happen - she has no money of her own. so far I have spent about $500 on new glasses, and the door replacement will be about $400
she is a right idiot and needs help
sue her parents... if she lives with them
how old is this girl??
the thing in my car that is most damaged is the door to the CD player, which doesn't close any more, but that is mostly cosmetic and I probably won't bother to fix it
well, she was living with her mom, who doesn't really have any money either, also my son broke a window at her place the night of the fight, trying to get help, so it may be a wash
and her mother is moving out of state - leaving today
ah, i understand
but, everything remains to be seen
indeed. if she fights the OP we may not even bother to pursue it as she is moving out of town anyway
anyway, I m off to work! see you all later!
Hello :)
why must setting up a new cell phone be so damn hard? 20 dollars for them to do it or go to their handy-dandy web site and give it a go..you get there and it say"please imput the 3000 letters and numbers that you will find in microscopic text under the battery of your new phone!...once you have spent an hour doing that, you enter all your personal info.now the fun of picking a number..seems all the numbers are taken except 429-@!#$,,now come the manual or automated activation,,that does not work,so now you call the activation help number that you should of called in the first place, take out the battery yet again so you can enter the 3000 digit number and after 45 minutes and 64 reroutes you get...gasp! a live person!..they pus 3 buttons and you are done!...now for a nice prozac a hot tub and a 40 oz bottle of jack daniels
oh i absolutely hate those automated phone systems, verizons is a real pita
ok,i am done venting my spleen
that is it..verizon
lol
either never get a new cell phone or pay the $20...
i just told them the site was faulty and it kept sending me back to home page,so she did it for free:))
i deal with verizon for internet land line and cell ...why??? cause im not all that bright??
and i get that stupid aumated system every time and yelling real person into phone doesnt work rofl
and why must that 3000 digit number be all zeos and ohs? lol
zeros
Good for you! You beat the system - and added to your gray hairs, frustrations, and probably shortened your life by a few minutes - and that, of course, doesn't include the brain cancer you will get from USING the darn phone
automated .....see i can type and spell
sigh
lol,the cancer is for the kid,it was his phone i was setting up
lol fava
er java
good morning everyone :)
howdy cybernan
And you didn't make him do it himself? His eyes are probably sharper (for the zeros and o's) and he is probably more used to dealing with automation
i should of let him do it
but it is done!..now for some hard core street drugs and i will be fine lol
can someone just mail me a prozac and a oxycontin please?
now now...don't let them win...
hehe,i won..set up was free:)
Exactly! You da man!
but i am more grey than before i see
well the thing came with 20 dollars worth of free air time..was not about to give it up to some annoying guy in a basement in istambul
Ah, that's probably true for all of us (except for me - at least it will be so after my hair appointment next week - no gray at all!)
i had to actually ask for someone with less of a accent, first guy was impossible to understand
nothing like a global company farming out their tech help to india for 75 cents an hour
There was a discussion on BBC last week regarding that. Some firms are moving their service places back to the UK because of the accent problem.
And then they interviewed a guy from India who was rebutting that claim - and he spoke so fast that I couldn't understand him!
good, and if they insist on farming it out, they should pay north american wages,no exploiting other countries
hello, only 64 words this morning
(((ruby)))
paul simon knew this.when doing his graceland record in africa,he paid all local singers and help three times the standard north american wage
Well, they should pay the equivalent of the NA wages in the economy of that country. To pay a lot more than would be expected for a similar job in that country might start economic problems in that country. But they certainly shouldn't be paying poverty-level wages for a technical job that requires some education.
lol fi 5/20= something crossy is supposed to have more of
hi all :)) again!! **hugs**
hi ruby -- that's where I started but quickly resorted to the list
I didn't know that about graceland/simon. And that's a great album. Good for him!
((((MRP))))
he did indeed java
reading over the chog, several things: when I get telemarketers, one or two a day, I say, I'm sorry, I don't speak French and frequently they answer "So solly" and 2) I went to college with Paul Simon and he and I dated because I was the only girl shorter than he.
you mankiller ruby!
uh oh, I've given away my age!
Ruby, where did you go to college?
very small mankiller, crossy!
Queens, in NYC
got pauls home number still? i need a autograph on a record of his:)
and you, java?
Queens College - Flushing, NY. I was there at the same time
he was a very sweet guy and had a '57 chevy convertible (red) that he'd afforded from his high school band's earnings
I never met him, but remember seeing him around campus. I was a psych major.
no! java, where did you live? My maiden name was Lief and I married a history professor named Kelley!!!!
no! java, where did you live? My maiden name was Lief and I married a history professor named Kelley!!!!
no! java, where did you live? My maiden name was Lief and I married a history professor named Kelley!!!!
re, too, but a little bit later
sorry about that; it didn't seem to enter
bichon, too
good grief! my babble ladies get around! lol
what was your major, java?
you betcha, crossy!
I lived in Hollis and then moved (when my parents did) to Valley Stream. My name at that time was Kane - until my last semester when it was Aneshensel
(I was very young)
hometown peeps - Hi, ruby, just joined in - I was nearby during those years, too
that is too funny, I got married at the end of my junior year
and hi java
I was undeclared for the first year, and going nights. But then majored - and graduated - with a psych major/english minor
this is lovely; I am so isolated from English-speakers here that it's funny to meet people from Queens
And a belated hi to all
the internet can be a wonderful thing ruby tuesday:)
I graduated in '63, 6 months pregs
(((crossy))) !! did I send you the timtamslam instructions darling?
hi java :)
i do not think so mrp
hi JBV :)
I was just 20
***hugs*** ruby!
i was going to use them to slurp up bacon vodka lool
and my son sent pix of his dad (long divorced from me) and he looks like a monster
ok, will do so to your email account? or can I just post it on my profile??
{{mrp}}
oh yeah!! give me the recipe please!!
p.a.melbourne@gmail.com
queens village is not totally black and oriental; when I went to high school, Martin Van Buren, there were only 5 black kids and they had to be bused in and there was only one oriental!
now*
hi mrp and hi everbody
where did you go to high school, java
ok, sent crossy
I love how the internet makes everything seems so close
and jbv?
jbv, it is just wonderful support... especially here
this is so wonderful for me!
has ruru been on lately? I have been away for a few days, so need to chat with him too
I just discovered a GREAT site for street-level views of our favorite streets and places - much better than google maps - do you know about vpike.com
we are talking around the globe and finding incredible commonalities
ruby I haven't tried it but I bet you can click on Martin Van Buren High School and get a 360 degree view
It can be a very small world...where were you living? I graduated in 1/66, after having taken 4-1/2 years to finish the BA. I was 22
unfortunately, I connected with "growing up in Queens Village" on FB and everybody talked only about the nuns in theiir schools
ruby, I lived in Astoria and went to Hunter College High School and Hunter College - just a little behind you, graduated from college in '71
High school - Woodhull Preparatory School in Hollis. I should have gone to Andrew Jackson High, but my parents were afraid for my life.
hi everyone
I understand that, java. My sister, 6 yrs older, went to Music and Art with a long commute because parents were afraid to send her to Jamaica HS
Woodhull -- very fancy! hahah
I majored in French, Spanish and English - Ruby, I've been listening to French TV broadcasts and understanding almost everything, not as rusty as I thought!
same reason I did not go to William Cullen Bryant HS
Well, I don't know about fancy. But I did get a good, if limited, academic education.
when I lived in Miami and used to go back to NY on biz, I frequently ate in Astoria for the best Greek food outside of Athens!
JBV, when are you fcoming to France? to practice, of course.
well now you can get Greek, Pakistani, Middle Eastern, Caribbean, South American - you name it! center of diversity there
Astoria - home of Edith, Archie, Gloria and Meathead
my sister, who lives in Forest Hills, sends me newspaper clippings about Queens' diversity. There are more languages spoken in Queens county than in any other county in the US!
ruby, I would love to be able to make a trip next year to my family in Pinerolo (near Torino) and I combine it with a transalpine visit - no definite plans yet, but we're talking.....
I wish you would all come here! I throw a great party.....
In '57, when I would have started at Andrew Jackson, they were busing in kids from Brooklyn. There were a lot of fights and disturbances.
a babble meet up - wouldn't it be great? Who else is in the vicinity ruby?
ruby, can I come for a party??
my son, on one of his last trips, took the train from Aix-les-Bains to Torino in less than 3 hours
you bet, mrp!!!!!
And I was born in Kew Gardens Hospital.
sounds great - how far are you from Aix-les-Bains
nobody :(
his wife wanted to see the Shroud of Turin.
less than an hour from Aix-les-Bains
I think it came to NYC and I never saw it here either -
so was I, java. OMG!
i just wanna travel to europe again... get my 'freak on' in the countries I really want to see
an7?
Ruby, have you ever been to the Fenestrelle Fortress ? I heard it was closed for repairs
not this one but an 7
My best girlfriend in the whole world was born 4 days before me - and we're still in touch even though we live about 800 miles apart
I think Kew Gardens Hospital was torn down, but I'm not sure.
me too, mrp - ready for an adventure
what is that Fortress, JBV?
ty!
an + ot 5
we should organise a 'babble tour'!! 31 countries in 10 days!!
I feel too old for adventure, but realize how important friends are
hi ruuster! was just talking about you!
Ruby, it is amazing to connect here - and just because of an off hand comment about Paul Simon.
gm mr p
I have my info for TimTamSlam in my bio for you hunny
And you're never too old for adventure
he lived in Kew Gardens and gave me his notes to pass a history course
oh let me read that
crikey, it is AM here... oh well
hello to everyone who has come in while I've been buried in the grid
bloody yahoo email won't let me copy/paste anything into emails i am responding to... will send you an email though too
more on Paul Simon: did anybody see his failed production of Capeman? When we were in school together, because I wore a cape instead of a winter coat, he wrote a song about me called "Capewoman" for a fraternity revue, just after the Capeman murder happened
This has been fun, but I have to go re-pot some plants that are desperate for attention. Type at y'all later.
bye java!!!! {big hug}
i have not ruby, but interesting tidbit indeed
and I ran into Marc Antony on a plane and had no idea who he was....
I love this place!!!!!
yes, I saw Capeman on Broadway - we liked it since my it was based on a true story from my husband's era
hugs back, my friend!
must go and cook
I have the music but evidently, it was a bust.
ruby, google Fortezza di Fenestrelle - it's amazing!!
ok, sent email ruru
I thought the music was wonderful
i saw capeman also, (good morning everyone), and I loved it - oh well
howdy dorens
yay for Dorens, well, I am Capewoman!
hi dorens - haven't made it to montclair, but we're plannign a fantasy trip to France :)
hi dorens! long time no see :)
. I am sweaty. just came in from walking the hills and am doing this before jumping into the shower
and JBV is coming here (hahah)
but I have a great guestroom!!!
I can dream, ruby
how about next tuesday for montclair (which, of course, is french)
someday maybe ruby. would love to see that part of france. and mrP! how are you these days?
I once ran in a trackmeet at Monclair State and was left in the blocks by all the other runners, my only "serious" race
OK, dorens - next Tuesday - you mean the 9th - shall I email you for details?
I am GREEN with envy!!!!
yes. sounds like a plan. there are some good movies there. and of course good restaurants. Are you at all interested in snowfower and the secret fan?
doing ok dorens! getting stronger and refusing the extra luggage from stalker Prick! how you going sweetie?
or even greene.....
i'm hot and sweaty and can hardly think of anything more than that. keep fighting that prick mrP
just googled snowflower - is it a movie? Yes, i'd be interested
jbv.. sarah's key is playing there! we should do that, yes?
i dunno ruby i think you should be verte
I am verte with envy!
snowflower is a movie. (remember movies free in montclair on tuesday)
oh, yes I would like sarah's key, too - either one
*poof* dinner for the (small) troops
okay we have a plan. the 9th. lunch (do you like ethiopian, or should we go to the french restaurant?) and either one of those movies
will do doren! hope the weather cools down
it probably will. meanwhile i was walking UPhill which definitely did something to my metabolism, sitting now in airconditioned house and i'm still dripping. need that shower. bye all.
bye dorens
I'll let you pick - I just need to be able to identify ingredients :) so I can kind of keep with the program
crossy wants breaded calamari rings with a dash of lemon and pepper, some nice long grain wild rice and a mound of steamed sweet pea pods,a nice french stick and some sweet/spicy dipping sauce all washed down with a fine vintage o, the grape
bye doren, talk to you soon
crossy, what's a French stick?
a narrow long loaf..you wopuld call a baugette
hahah
one for tearing and dipping, not slicing
baguette? ?
whatever lol
ruby knows the one i am talking bout
i buy them and the kids tear them in half and eat them with butter or cheese
does anyone have a clue for the 2nd af 5/16, please?
the one sticking out of the bycycle basket in every steriotypical pic of a old wizened frenchman about 100 years old with a beret and a smoke dangling in his mouth
a + corn ****ter

weird
oh man! can't sleep!! darn it
frustrating, isn't it? -- I could sympathize with your struggle with the cell phone
In this case the "help" is online, which is not helpful. They have this little box to ask if their answer was helpful, but no place to contact for tech help.
I think I'm going back to the store to have a chat with the guru who recommended the program.
Back for a few more words...
Clue for the 8, please?
hi bea :)
doesn't look like anyone needs help here, so I will be on my way -- wish me luck!
see ya nan, have good luck on your side always!

Hello everyone! (Why is it I only get on Babble only when I'm out sick anymore? And I've been disgustingly healthy as of late!) :)
Hi JB
Hi, Scrabbler, good to see the green bunny!
And it's nice to see the black & white cat.
Unless your icon represents something else?
Nope, it's a cat, just a cat! (Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar...)
I started to wonder if it was a symbol, or Greek, or Arabic...
It does look symbolic, yes, I agree. I really like graphic representations, icons, symbols...you know - wingdings!
Me too!
I just noticed the -tion ending.
wait a sec, going back to my web history today to share something, I know it's there, and you would like it...
http://gizmodo.com/5826464/guess-which -city-has-been-kaleidoscoped-on-google -maps/gallery/
okay, here we go - maps and kaleidoscopes - cool, huh?
Cool. And I discovered www.weatherspark.com last night--cool visual presentation of weather info.
Neat-o, Scrabbler! My DH will like that one. :)
Did he finish his fellowship? In practice now? Still in Philly?
(pssst @ Scrabbler: where did everyone else go? Are they scared of bunnies and kitties? Are they all eating lunch and eyeballing our conversation? Hmmmm....un-pssst)
Still in Philly, working here and there, looking for FT practice, me, still at same hospital, same job, still loving it!
boo!
They are in the sun having lunch. I could go outside but then it would be hard to come back in. I am at the Indian Reservation today and could go buy inexpensive gas but I usually do it in the way home.
Ah, reminds me to update my profile!
Boo backatcha, car.eeyore!
Boo! Hi Car! How are you? Have you gotten your questions answered from recent headache episode?
Hi Scrabs, car JBs
How was lunch, Car? :)
Hi Bichon
Hi, bichon!!! Nice to see you again!
I am fine. Hanging in. No. No answered questions. Just moving on.
Hi bichon!
Hi JBsAnno!
I've been around, but it's summer, the great outside beckons
hi again, all!
Hmm, car, if I was a truer hockey fan, I
hi sue
At the minimum your PCP should answer all questions and review all reports with you. Make sure nothing was overlooked.
Hi Sue!
oops, dang enter key...
not quite lunch time yet but I figure I can fit in a little babbling :-)
hi, car!
Hi Sue
hi, scrabs!
Well, the NP at the PCP told me I had a sinus infection as noted on the CT. She put me on antibiotics. I called the Neuro to ask if I still needed the medication he prescribed and he said that I did NOT have a sinus infection.
IF I was a truer Flyers fan, I would take some exception to your phicon! LOL - actually, I love that Bruins got it, since hometown is an hour north of Boston
A bacterial sinus infection = cold/cough that won't go away after 10-14 days.
Nope. don't have that. I am taking the antibiotics anyway and will start the neuro meds this week.
It is all very frustrating.
Go Buffalo Sabres! We have beefed up the team this summer--several signings!
what are neuro meds?
What neuro med?
Inderal
The season will TELL ALL, Scrabs!
Car, I hate most docs, and I hate seeing people trying to navigate the health system.
JB, we have Ville Leino now!
migraines?
I had a CT a couple of months ago b/c of headaches - it showed some sinus thing as well but my doctor told me it wasn't clinically significant (and I had no sinus symptoms, just headaches)
Yup, "complicated" migraines, according to the neurologist.
Beta-blocker--> used as cardiac med and can be used to prevent migraines.
hope the inderal works
so I wonder if sinus congestion isn't something that shows up a lot on CT scans, even when it doesn't amount to much
anyway, I like the weather spark, scrabs!
We often see radiologists diagnose sinus issues on head CTs when the pt has NO symptoms of cold/cough at all.
I've had lots of sinus problems, but I never had pain with them, just a feeling of stuffiness
and JB, I don't know if we've met, but I like the cities as well (even though I don't really know which is which :-)
In kids just crying can opacify a sinus area.
Car, have you looked at any possible triggers in your diet, new food, new meds, new supplements?
Oh well. I am feeling better and that is all that matters. Now, if I could just sleep better....
Isn't that a great website, Sue? I discovered it through a migraine website, as a way to track weather + migraines.
Opacify - GREAT word!!!
I have too many triggers!!!! LOL!
Isn't that funny, Scrabs!
Two shots of Irish before bed Car. : P Just kidding.
"I am calling in sick today, my vision is opacified from too much time on the Internet."
Car--read about MigreLief--natural prevention for migraines. I use generic equivalent by buying magnesium, vitamin B complex + feverfew.
The good Captain accompanied me to bed last night, Molly!!!! LOL!
this is what my CT said, car: Mild bilateral maxillary (face - below eyes) sinus disease. Which my doc said was irrelevant to my headaches.
doctors actually take home remedies?
http://www.thedailyheadache.com/--good info and many useful links!
Sue, that is a common phrase used by too many radiologists.
More doctors take less medical advice than you would think, bichon!
Bichon, I respect the potential adverse effects of medications.
TY Scrabs!
my late f.i.l. [in Germany] was a GP. His brother had died of colon cancer. You would have thought he would have kept up with colonoscopies
My migraine triggers = incoming rain/storms, too much or too little sleep (if I nap I wake up with a migraine), missing a meal/delay a meal.
My MRI has "foci of hyperintense T2 flair signal in the deep white matter in the right frontal lobe. These are nonspecific and can be seen in the setting of small vessel ischemic changes, migraine headaches, and demyelinating processes."
AND trolls on the chog, Scrabbler!
Doctors, including me, do not like being the patient. We like to remain in control and we lose control when we are the patient. Thus it has been 2 yrs since I saw my internist, gyn and eye doc.
what does that mean? Is it the aging proces as I was told after an MRI
"nonspecific" = radiologist's hedge term
*slap* on the hands for Scrabs...go to your doctors!!!!
Scrabs, at least go to your GYN and get a Pap smear
Translation of Car's MRI comments: We haven't got a friggin' clue what's causing them.
I'm with you, Scrabbler. Married to a doc, work with docs, and last general appt was last year. Hey, if something WAS wrong, they'd all notice, right?
I am not really sure...I guess it means I get migraines.....DUH!!! I already KNEW that!!!
Well, I saw optometrist a few months ago, I did see MD to discuss slightly increased BP in Dec, and I have no uterus/ovaries, and am a nun, in effect.
AMEN Molly!
does anyone have the pi 5/16 please
okay Scrabs, you are excused from the GYN
Uh, oh, a male has entered the chat.
pi + gerund
Hi ruru! NO, I do not have it.
:) @ Scrabbler - I'll make my appointments if you make yours!
thanks a lot molly
Great clue from earlier today - pi +gerund
TY Molly! I always miss that one.
Dopey word.
And I'm typing slower than MollyL!
The annual check-up is useless for majority of healthy people--without any symptoms it is highly unlikely that an exam will reveal a problem. But, blood work could reveal a problem.
it actually is a stupid word..and it isn't in a2z wordfinder either
I'm having my physical this week. Haven't had one in a while. But, since I'm diabetic and asthmatic, I do see my doc a lot
Think I'd better make an optometrist appt, too, chat is starting to blur
What does pi5 mean? Tossing the Greek letter at someone?
Yes, you need frequent checks, bichon.
Sure Scrabs, why not? Since there is no definition offered for it. I hate that.
Makes me think of an eating contest at a fair, Scrabs
apparently it is the active verb form of either pi or pie, neither of which I thought were verbs at all
you could be right, JB! :-)
I need a break from this grid. NOt doing tooo well
Stupid receptionist just walked in to put timesheets up. She never knocks. I am going to pie her!
Me too. And I need cat litter. Ahhh. My exciting life!
This grid does have a lot of unusual words today, Bichon
There! Scrabs is pi5 her receptionist.
Blueberry or apple?
What segues! from migraines to pi to cat litter...only on the chog, LOL!
te 6 please
Like a region in Russia, ruru
thank you
thx, JB!
yw!
Going "poof" now, need food and nap (no migraine, though), too much squinting at computer, just like at work! See you all, sooner rather than, later! "poof"
bi 5/14 please
*thinking about a region in Russia*
Sounds like oregano, basil, etc + two vowels
Cats, dogs and toddlers are often bi5--nipper.
never mind
found it
bi 5/14 ...bi + ***ario is a region in Canada
Too late : (
thanks Molly
it's a wrap
Molly, is that clue for te6?
yay, ruru!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!
NM, got te6
it was, scrabs, although I would have described it as a region in the Balkans
<--- Is geographically challanged
Yes, that makes more sense
Or challenged
Silly Molly!
bye for now.. thank you Molly for the clues
Congrats Ruru! Enjoy the day.
Adieu Ru
Molly, I made your sweet potato rolls -- a few changes --no bread machine, honey for sugar, sesame seeds on top--FABULOUS!!!! Many thanks!
Hi Kate....back to work for now. I will pop in when I can.
Oh Katie, I'm so glad you enjoyed them. It really is a good recipe and good for you for tweaking it.
It IS a great recipe and the rolls are so pretty as well as delicious.
hello dear babble friends. lunch time!
That is my "go to" recipe for dinner rolls now. Hi Trif!
((Trif)) I am still here, of course, finding "just one more word."
hello my dear ones!
Hello my dearest!
I read a story at work with a student today, about a "hairy nosed south american dolphin" and thought of my dear babblers...
hello my love!
LOL!
And you said, "INIA, inia, inia!!"
(Better than saying redrum)
ooooh, my boyfriend's last name is in the grid!
I noticed that earlier. I said, "oh, there is Mr. Trif"
you know it molly! how I love my dear colin!
Have you gotten a second wind yet?
no. and I can't focus AT ALL today.
You can do it, Heidi!
I need a remedial clue for the te 6 please...
sounds like the cold russian place, kinda
actually, no, not at all, ignore that.
it sounds like the country next to where mom didn't go on vacation
For God's sake! Give me something I can use!
U of MD teams are the ***ps + a **t o'honey + vowel
yes, sorry. I should not clue when sleep deprived.
You were good on the cold russian place...
TY Molly!
hi again, all, now it really is lunchtime :-)
Officially "hi" then Sue!
Oh seriously! no6/21??? Give me a break.
and it's officially "bye" for me, or the whole day will be away with me. Cheers, dears!
bye!
bye, trif!
clue for this outrageous no6 word, molly?
Slang for an7, I guess.
ah, thx! didn't have the an7 either.
Used in a sentence: It was no6 drive by pi6. News at 11! : D
you mean pi5, I hope?
a pi6 would be a whole no6 thing entirely :-)

Hello all -- nice to see the little buffalo again -- it's been a while
hi jillibus :-)
buffalo ? .... explain please :-)
<--- Has no clue
the Celebes pygmy buffalo -- an4/4 -- you can google it
hey all. taking a few minutes of personal time. Spent all morning trying to get online job apps figured out. Tomorrow will call people to ask for references and letters of recommendation... *sigh* there is a lot to do.
aww, baby buffalo!
aha ... LOL... I get it... that was my very first word today.
hi stid -- I should be outside, sitting in the sun we've longed for!
interesting cat rug in your icon, helena...
Hi Stid :-)
Diane! Shame on us for not knowing that. : P
i'm also a fan of the hawaiian goose (not present this time)
hi Helena
That's not a rug, that's my cat. He's a little fat. :-(
I know the word well from years of crosswords... just didn't get Jill's meaning !
helloa. helena
Hi Stid. The job application process is a tedious one.
hey all
I went outside twice, braved some weeding since a stidkid was here to help if I had a reaction (no reaction -- that was good!)
ah yes -- our little dog was like that too. When she was standing she was almost as tall as when lying down.
I AM going to go outside for a bit...cul8r!
Speaking of frequently seen in grid words, our favorite mountain is erupting again.
later jill!
Putting on quite a display too, I see, Molly
ah, halfway for me and time to get the kid to rehearsal. Back later. *poof*
so now I'm outside with the laptop
can't see the screen very well, though.
2 hummingbirds just had a squabble over a bee-balm flower
you get nice hummingbirds and i just got a turkey vulture swooping down and scooping roadkill off the street:/
I had bee balm years ago, a nice sizable stand of it and then it disappeared. I am so sad
molly what is your favorite mountain? i only know of a favorite volcano
oops, I did it again
I'm getting nowhere with this -- hummers, nuthatches, goldfinches, towhees, cowbirds, pine siskins -- the birds and the bees and the butterflies and flowers -- all too distracting in the peace of my garden on a sunny afternoon...
Good evening to my fellow babblers! How is everyone?
By the way, congratulations to all the finishers! YAY!
howdy min and welcome to the grid;)
Hey Min!
evening all - i dont think i will finish tonight - 20 left but its 2305 here and time for bed methinks
hello min -- it's only 3:05 pm here
Thank you crosshair! Trying to babble quickly before I do school work again. I really shouldn't be doing this
jillibus,if I took my laptop outside,it would get soaked
We are having some pretty major thunderstorms now
Hi Kazzer99! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid
we need more rain.has rained 3 nights in a row now,but the rivers are still low and the grass quite brown
hi kazzer and maryte and all who've arrived during my reverie
no too good Min - too many strange words for me - any clues for the ir please
My dog Jack got squished in my icon. Oh well, he is a squishable dog. He is so cute, I just want to squeeze him. Jack LOVES to lick the plates in the dishwasher.
we need rain too but my garden is irrigated.
That ir 5/14 is making someone very angry Kazzer99.
Or ir 5/14 is what Donald Trump is in the business of doing minus the first letter Kazzer99. Did you get it?
needed morewords but i got it,ty min

I need to go make dinner.Garlic-Sauced Chicken is on the menu tonight along with some corn & Rice-A-Roni.

Goodbye Kazzer99! I will see you tomorrow in the log.
I give up -- too hard to see the cursor etc...Think I'll just read a book...ttfn..back well after the flip, probably -- bridge night...*poof for now
i tried rice-a-roni once.did not care for it
I don't care for it either. I prefer straight up rice. Never did get the rice & past combo in that stuff.
Or rice & pasta
hi again, all!
Hi Sue
hi, molly!
Sue, did you read that they now think crop circles are caused by physics?
I saw the headline but didn't read the article
Something to do with GPS monitors and magnetrons. One scientist's proposed explanation of how people "hoax" them.
ok, I looked at the article, basically it says that they are done by people at night, maybe using magnetrons (although I would think that sticks and trampling would be easier) - and they use GPS to get their designs straight, which makes sense
I guess the trick to "faking" them is to do it in such a way that doesn't leave evidence of human manipulation.
or not much evidence, anyway - it's not clear to me how diligent people are in deciding there isn't evidence of manipulation
clue for in6, please?
Lack of diligence explains so many things. in6 is a baby Bea.
in6 "baby"
Add a vowel for the 7
Doh...Thank you.
:0)
Does anyone have a clue for pr 5,12? (Not print, I already got that one :) )
pr+vowel + not off
Thanks!

<--- would love to have a storm
nef that was on the news here
hi nef!! **hugs**
I'm so tired of the weather this year that I told my DH I was thinking we should move to northern MN for the cooler weather (mind you, I moved FROM there for the warmer climate 40 years ago!)
just getting dressed and in iphone and reading emails and leaving in about .02 of a second!!
bye, mrp!
Our storm was on your news, Harry?
I heard something about bad weather in minneapolis
take care, mrp! Be safe!

it Was bad! The visiting nurse was here and I told DH to help her out to her car with an umbrella and they both still got soaked!
pi + gerund ending
you've got to be kidding me
what a dumb word!
what, about the pi word?
yeah
Good evening to my fellow babblers! How is everyone?
By the way, congratulations to all the finishers! YAY!
hi min
apparently it really is the gerund form of pi or pie, neither of which I thought were verbs
hi Min
hi, min!

I agree with you, sue; neither are verbs to me either

Min, that sounds good.

Maryte, it's an archaic word for please, ends in the dble vowel
It's hard to eat hot food when it's hot out.

Maryte...pr + vowel + get **** to a nunnery
got it! duh......thanks!!!
I have never made it before.Last nite I made creamy chicken strogonoff for the 1st time and it was yummy
ahh from Shakespearian times!
Outside of Shakespearean stuff, that word is pretty distant to most of us.
yes, that sounds really good too, min!
Ooo, I've never made chicken stroganoff. I'll have to try that.
Enable knows more shakesperian english (and scots) than i do, certainly
Hmm *contemplates watching "Shakespeare In Love" * I have a big steamy thing for Joseph Fiennes.

Hello babblers
Hi Wht
Can I get a clue for the af5 af5 the conflagration?
Hello wht! How are you doing? Welcome to the puzzle.
I'm doing OK, except with the grid.
14 left and my monkeys are still on vacation, I think.
a + corn ****ters are popular in the South
hi, wht!
ty Molly.
fireworks!
wtg sue
!! S !! U !! E !!
Congratulations uusue2 on fireworks!Hooray for you!
Wht, you just stay put, in your own inner Hawaii. It's better that way. : )
YAY, sue!!!! WTG!!!!
a's abolished
I've sat here long enough; need to go rest a bit again. BBL
bye, nef!
,*,*,*,SUE.*,*,*,
in my inner hawaii it involves leis
I love flowers..
*Can't resist* I thought it involved getting leid.
that too
that's nothing to puka about
With flowers around of course. : P
first running class of the new session tonight. im proud to say my legs arent sore at all. my feet, however...
Oh poi, you're not kidding.
Good for you Eva. Sorry about your feet.
Molly + Ruru, you were here 9 hrs ago.
What kind of shoes are you wearing Eva? Hi Scrabs.
Eva--I love Mumford & Sons. TY for mentioning their concert recently.
sok, molly. no pain no gain. pain is just weakness leaving the body. or some other fitness cliche...
aloha can you goha with those puns.
*Wonders if Scrabs is some kind of Babble Monitor*
yes.. and you were too scrabs
YW scrabs! glad you enjoy them!
Hi is NEF still here??
*showing off fluorescent orange Babble Monitor vest*
molly, i went + got fitted... im wearing Brooks running shoes. the kind with the extra stability for over-pronators like me.
Ruru, I thought you finished the grid. And are you done Molly?
hey all! ((((hugs and hugs))))
*Quickly hides paraphernalia*
hI sTID
Hi stid
uh.. oh yeah.. you are right ..I AM done..lol
hey cousin! is your migraine any better? I started to get one today but took some excedrin and aleve and it seems to have worked. I am out of the prescription stuff at the moment, but honestly the last few times I don't think it made a difference.
Okay Eva, glad you are wearing good supportive shoes.
Clue for the ye5, please
ruru? done??? *suspicious mama look*
Are we not allowed to chat once we're done?
*stands ready with duck tape for ruru just in case*
why wait until you are done, Molly?
rofl... only ruru, methinks...
molly, i was willing to wear the wrong clothes for a while (wanted to see if i would stick with it before investing too much money) but i wasnt willing to risk my feet, to proper shoes were a must!
y + oregano is an h*** + vowel
molly -- carlee wanted me to contact you -- are you in facebook?
oooh, thanks Molly!
Yeah Stid, I'm in Facebook, why?
ty Molly. Fireworks!
Yay for wht!
EvaN, I cannot imagine someone as fashionable as you EVER wearing "the wrong clothes"
YAY wht!
just wondered if we were friends -- I have so very many that I get "lost" sometimes! LOL
My migraine was gone by about 3 pm yesterday. I woke up with it at 0630 yest AM.
I don't think so Stid. I'll send a friend request.
and carlee wanted me to give you a quick update on her dad (not good news) -- so I thought I would use fb rather than bog up the chat too much. Thanks. :-D
hah, thankyou stid. but the "right" clothes for running have nothing to do with fashion, but all to do with comfort and moisture-wicking abilities...quite unlike the heavy cotton tshirts i insisted on wearing...hehe
yay, wht!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
hm. I see... *pondering why anyone would want to run -- for any reason...*
hey sue!
and now i am going to go put my feet up and wait for dinner - see you all tomorrow!
and hi, stid!
good idea, sue! have a lovely evening!
I agree, Stid. Hi Stid
stid -- im STILL wondering. as im STILL quite incapable of it...lol but still, i trudge along.
thanks Molly!
Carlee was here earlier and said that things were looking "towards the end" for her Dad. She checked in after she had seen him today.
Hiking, mountain biking, paddling, cross-country skiing, snowshoe trekking--I can do those, but running is too hard for me.
,---not a runner
oh good - then she already probably told you what I was going to. I got called away after "talking" with her earlier.
scrabs, im finding the same to be true. 22-minute dance routine outdoors in florida summer heat? sure thing. a lap around the track? ugh.
<--- Also not a runner
...except on the tennis court, ruru
that's not really running
that's hurling
I used to love XC skiing, would like to try it this coming winter if my hip stays relatively stable. Otherwise, I don't "do" sports.
LOL ruru!
I am struggling to pass halfway here.
at least not leg sports. would go canoeing again if I could. We have a canoe, but I can't get it to the water alone.
talk about up a creek without a paddle
I just bought an ultralight, one-person canoe, with a low seat--weighs 16 lbs!!
the main reason im focusing on running is that if i can actually get to a point where i can do it, it is something i can do anywhere, and mostly for free (shoes and clothing aside). alas, it is proving very difficult for me...but im still trying! just started second session of classes.
I like to bicycle. Much less strain on the knees and shins.
that sounds nice, scrabs
I can walk... LOL
Unfortunatly, they moved my office so it is too far to bike into work.
Yep, walking is great exercise.
I would bike, but the thought of falling scares me. I used to bike all over the place, using a 20+ lb behemoth that was probably too big for me.
I walked 8 miles on Sunday
oh, that's too bad -- I guess the buses there don't have bike racks?
good for you ruru! (on purpose?) *innocent mama look*
Great, ruru!
yes.. the weather was so perfect here I had to..
Dylan slept through the night.
he was beat..lol
Worn-out pup.
I can walk for miles, but running is too much hell on my knees and ankles. Besides, I am haunted by what happened to Jim Fixx.
that was so sad... of course I was just a small child when Jim Fixx died...
who's Jim fixx?
A running guru who died of a heart attack.
oh.. well there's your running answer
wasn't Jim FIxx married to Emma Up
so -- what is everyone's position on running water??? *grin*
Genetics cannot be altered--he developed CAD at a young age.
*Suspicious look at Stid for "small child" comment*
im opposed stid. dont waste the water!
okay, I am down to 76 words and need to get some tortillas warming for tacos. later gators! *poof*
nobody gets my cj
nobody gets my jokes..lol
i suppose i should poof too. i still need my post-run shower. hubby says im stinky. *sniffs self*
Sorry Ru...Emma Up...hahaha...*Smacks Eva's hubby for calling her stinky*
its ok molly. im quite sure hes right...heh
I didn't get it, Ruru. Emma Up-Fixx?
ok kids, im out!
Bye Eva
Any clues for the i's? Both of mine are blank.
One of the i's is a baby.
Add a vowel to that for another.
TY, Molly!
One is a synonym for da4/4
TY. Far right i is my only blank tile now.
it5/13 Like an autoharp missing the first letter
One is the gerund version of angry
The act of making someone angry
ir5 is the one--TY
Or it5/12 for the purists among us.
hi all
((((Carlee))) how are you holding up?
((Kat))
Hi Carlee
am ok... really...tired...headache..but overall am ok
Is your Dad comfortable?
dad is so heavily sedated he did not know we were there
I saw your post earlier, after you had seen your Dad. It's hard to see someone we love looking that frail.
yes... as comfortable as can be expected
Hello all. Just starting. First day of August. Finally summer.
Good--he needs to be kept pain-free and anxiety-free.
Hello Gran Mere.
his lungs have filled up... i am presuming with blood as there was blood coming up periodically as he ewas sleeping
Hi stidgmere
hi gramma stiddy
there is no treatment other than for pain scrabs..they were still checking his blood sugar today but i think they were endig that as well
I assume you are home Carlee?
Hi carlee and scrabs. Sorry to hear of your father's failing health, carlee.
just fluids..and morphine..he get agitated when he is moved
yes molls am home... i wont go back... others are going up...it has been so fast...
Just keep talking to him, holding his hand, and telling him that you will all be fine, so he can let go.
i wont be back scrabs....
Our practice has a 2 yr old just diagnosed with cancer yesterday.
Be gentle with yourself Carlee. No matter how "okay" you feel, this kind of thing is very tough on you.
he decided on his own he was going scrabs...
Kat, remember him as a healthy, happy man, not as he is now.
oh good god..one of my sons' best friends mum was just diagnosed with stage 4 brain canacer ( had a mastectomy 2 or 3 years ago)
I hate cancer.
He lived far longer than expected. That shows his toughness.
i will in a coupe days scrabs... right now the yellow skeleton gasping for breath with a shock of white hair is still etched on the retinas
he had excellent quality of life
scrabs...r u on fb?
Breast cancer often spreads to the brain. Yep, cancer cells are evil, rogue and ruthless.
I can be--going to FB now.
oh god
oh god
That vision will leave you Carlee, I promise. In time it will go. I was with my Dad when he died and I know the kind of thing you saw today. It's hard to see.
oh god
hes....gone
(((((Carlee))))) I'm sorry.
So sorry Carlee
Is someone with you Carlee?
no...am ok
i wanted it fast
sorry to hear, carlee, i can;t stay, my father;s death is still to o raw but i am thinking of you
so sad..Sorry for your loss carlee.
thanks T.O
((Kat))--his suffering is over. He is at peace.
i gotta go...
make phone calls
Blessings Carlee.
god go with you Carlee...
do take care carlee - thinking of you and family
Blessings with you Carlee
so many times over the years babble has been a place for those awaiting huge life transitions, or in grief. celebrations too, but so often the sad times. our little island.
so sorry for your loss Carlee **hugs**
So sorry Carlee ...
Our little island is a good place to be......
It never ceases to amaze me how kind and supporting this community can be.
(((carlee))) I am glad you came in.
hi..sorry..i had to make phone calls
thanks everyone
((carlee))) . with you in spirit
thank you.. am not sure what else to say..but thank you
carlee, glad you're here.
Carlee, any chance someone can come stay with you tonight?
molls..thank you for the poem :)
and thank you mab for your kind words..
my son is home again now
and my daughter will be in later...
good. glad they are there with you carlee.
Glad to hear your kids will be around you. You need that now. You're welcome for the poem. It's the way I like to think of this kind of transition.
it is a lovely thought..yes...
You are going to hear a lot of people saying "is there anything I can do". Remember to take them up on it. Even if it's just some company or an understanding ear on the phone.
and as much as you love cooking, let people bring meals in for you
so true. people do want to help but often don't know quite how.
yea... i know molls.. i am needing to cry a while...just quietly..as i am now...and i really did..make my mental goodbyes a couple months ago...so although i am really sad he is gone... i am...ok
Hey carlee. just posted on your fb. i'm so very sorry to hear the news, and just sent a prayer and energy of peace, calm, and acceptance to you. thinking of you.
Goodbyes are like the tides, they ebb and flow. And crying is good. My Dad used to say "tears are cleansing"
thanks feather... i saw it...molls..i tend to cry in the shower..not sure why..maybe it is the "cleansing" thing
crying will help relieve the pent up emotions
carlee...just coming back in. I'm very sorry!
thank you champ
Oh I don't know Carlee. After my husband died, I used to cry in the car. I think it's a tendency to cry where no one can see you doing it.
maybe...
It'll hit you at odd times. That's ok.
Carlee, In time of sorrow, I would like to put an around around your shoulders and let you know, I care. Blessings
carlee, what is your favorite memory of your dad?
my poppy was my very best friend
and I love thinking of him calling me his pretty one
and loving the smell of him
I miss him all the time, but I know I will see him again
as you will too, because someone like you, must have had an amazingly loving father to learn from
him cooking... he was like me... we liked puttering int eh kitchen..chopping and preparing and drinking wine as we cook... he came to this realization late in life....whereas for me..I always loved that kind of cooking... spending a whole afternoon just puttering with a dish... and..his hugs...he was really good at them...felt awkward doing so but he was really good at them
then from now on, share your dads hugs with everyone
dad and i had a very difficult relationship but the last 4 years were wonderful. he only met my kids 4 years ago
i do sue..is how i hug people always
it's nice you have a recent memory of him cooking, like his goodbye gift, sort of
are there any charities he would have liked donations to? anything babblers can do to show our condolences?
Nice memory Carlee. I'm glad things between you and your Dad got better in time.
I thank God you had these four years
carlee would you like me to start a thread for you on babanon?
anything to do with school music programs...he used to be a music teacher... or special ed
i wouldnt know how to access it stiddy...
we can donate instruments in his name
that would be lovely sue
What is your dads name, just the first if you like
James Brian Potts
Okay, we'll leave it to the chog, then. ((hugs))
how about http://www.mhopus.org/ The Mr. Holland's Opus Foundation keeps music alive in our schools and communities by donating musical instruments to under-funded music programs, giving youngsters the many benefits of music education, helping them to be better students and inspiring creativity and expression through playing music. We believe that kids thrive when given the chance to learn and play music. Putting an instrument into their hands improves the quality of their education and their lives. The window is brief and all kids deserve a chance to play music in school!
sounds like a great idea feather
carley in my family when someone is born or dies a tree is planted to show the celebration of life lived or to be lived
that... or just your local schools where ever anyone is...donate to the music programs in your local schools..sometimes the charities have alot of operational overhead whereas a school music program cann use the money to just buy sheet music
Ok, gotcha
nice carlee, I know my schools can use it.. We don't even have instrumental music program any more
20.00 can buy sheet music for a new introductory piece of music for a beginner band
that..i think would be my wish... and he wold love that...he love music...
http://www.encoretheconcertband.ca/
carlee, we will do that -- I'll ask our local school what would be helpful. The band teacher there is such a lovely person.
this is the band he played in..there are clips... videos... he played in the final concert this year
what a nice way to remember him
he loved watching young people learn music...and encouraged them to stay in music...
that is nice
what a great program that is carlee!
so yes...if anyone wishes to do something..donate $ in his name to their local school music programs..
( and..if u do ,,pleae drop me a line on fb so i can let my step mum know )
what instruments did he play carlee?
clarinet ( u can see in the pic here )
I see him! the Oct 17 concert...
he played all the winds ..had to as a music teacher....but clarinet was his
yes stiddy
Music is an amazing legacy. It's a very tangible way to remember someone. I'm glad you have your Dad's music to remember him by.
they can probably use a new reed player in heaven carlee
they have one...
As my husband (who was a musician) used to say: Another one joins the big show.
the conductor there molls was my highschool band teacher
I posted in the FB babble community page.
one of my best friend has two sons who play clarinet. and my grandad played clarinet (and flutes and sax). my kids are brass players, and "grandaddy granville" played the same instruments as one of my sons... music is a wonderful gift.
when I go .. I want you all to pun jokes all night long.
okay, time for me to toddle off. carlee, you are in our hearts.
*starts making a list of jokes for ruru* hope I won't need this any time soon, though!
Carlee, remember to look up at the stars. My Mom used to say that stars are the windows of heaven (it's a song). It's nice to think of loved ones twinkling through at you.
*watches stid toddle*
nite stidders. and ruru, i promise you we will
(if we're still alive)
**hugs and special raspberry choclits for all**
*poof*
*Promises to pun all night and drink upscale wine should I need to observe Ru's passing*
The night I go the grid will only have r's and u's
*promises to share some of my very best wine with Molly if she'll drive up here to NJ*
urrrrrrrrrr
it will be the smallest grid of all time.
ruru would be happy here in NJ. RU is rutgers university (the state u) and people have it on their car sometimes
*Agrees, as long as it's nowhere near Secaucus*
carlee, i'm heading out to fiddle with our new toy the boys got, but i will continue to send you healing peaceful energy. (((((hugs))))))
thanks feather and thank you for the post...
welcome.
I am happy for you that you were so close to your father carlee.. that is a real gift
thanks ruru
I think I saw him in the rehearsal pictures - wearing a red sweater. such a handsome man, carlee
no mab..he was next one over i think if i remember the pic ..if u go to the oct 17 videos..he is front row clarinet 4th from left
oops
will look again!
its ok...
( they are mostly retired high school teachers in that band so they all are grey and balding...
that is my old highschool band teacher
conducting i mean
Be good to yourself Carlee. And remember that it's just fine to say "I'm not okay" and to lean on the people who love you at a time like this. Tell strong Carlee to take a break and let vulnerable Carlee be taken care of.
yes molls...
now I've got him - the other guy was ok, but your dad is more handsome. And, seriously, they sound great.
they are a good band...
alot of the people in this band were as youth in what was called teh police boys band ( and a number of them will perform at his memorial service )
oh, that's lovely.
( their web site are going to go "what the...?" from the hits from all over tongiht )
<---chuckling at that thought
yes
i keep watching for the conductor to do his little boot scoot gyration he is famous for....
the conductor is wonderfully animated.
yea..he was great fun..his son is now a high school music teacher...
either just about everyone is gone or eveyone is watching some nice mucis being played ( althought sound quality kinda sucks)
Hi babblers!Just came back to get my last two words.
hi minver
How is your father doing? Did you say he was sedated
he passed away this evening minver about 8:10 pm edt
http://www.encoretheconcertband.ca/New /Videos/Oct172010/index.html
Oh, carkeekat, I am so very sorry.
(((carleekat))), I am sorry to hear that! My thoughts are with you.Wish I could give you a hug through the computer!Thinking of you and your family at this time
i think most babblers are watching the vids at this link...is his band..he played clarinet... front row of clarinets...fourth from left he is bald wearing glasses
F's Finished! 1 left
thanks minver...and peach
I'll be here to help clue for 15 more minutes if needed.
*~*~*POMPOM TOSS*~*~*for minver...
Thanks carleekat.Seemed inappropriate to announce fireworks. Your loss is so much more important now.
its ok minver... i am listening to daddy's band...
and just....remembering...
{{{carlee}}}
Now is not the time to mourn but to celebrate his life
hear, hear minver!
exactly...i am sad...but i love this type of music...
if u go to the june 6 2010 concert there is a pretty good rendition of stars and stripes forever...
you'll likely like http://www.wsaxq.com/ the Washington Saxophone Quartet thin, carlee.
then, not thin LOL
i probably would..but right now am watching my dad seain
just back from the concert - loved the mahler and lots of chances to see your dad
and that other guy who looks a little like him
am watchng june 6 now mab...tribute to sasmmy davis and dixieland..and the stars and stripes forever ( not bad for a canadian band :p )
ah....the candy man.... :) love this song...
oh, wow that was a wwirdly loud airplane
grindy sounding and i could hear it over the concert
there a concert in the area seain?
no, your dad's group :)
how weird hearing Dixie combined with When the Saints Come Marching In.
oh... ok... there are close ups in the group i posted on fb :)
yes there are! :)
oct 17 or 18... 2010...dad is front row clarinet ...4th from left
a number of the poeple in this band are performing at his memorial service on sat
many of them have played together since they were teenagers
i saw, and how wonderful!
oh, how nice that they'll be there to perform
sorry am repeating myself
all good :)
i know that for the first several weeks after my father passed i barely knew which end was up.
am listening to them play lion king now
i'm listening to the Sammy Davis Jr tribute
its good... i always loved him
oh, i'm really liking their Puszta :)
yes, love that june concert - i'm always in the mood for the American Songbook pieces.
gwynn bynon is an excellent conductor..i wish they had some of their most recent concerts uploaded..they are far superior that at this point..they had another conductor who fell very ill and gwynn took over....it wasnt really until this season and later this season the musicians got a feel for how gwynn conducts. I remember his first concert as conductor...i was with him
i KNEw he was asking..and not receiving...
and the band wouldd run away on him... but now...far more control and unified...
yes, speaking as an instrumentalist, a new conductor is always jarring, and some are better at explaining their ways than others, and of course, each musician clicks with certain conducting styles over others, though we learn to deal with a great array of styles.
their christmaas concert this year gwynn had them play a couple pieces i had played with him in highschool...
talk about throwback of 25 years... i was right there....i had the fingering... and every one of boot scoots ( a funny little bum wiggle he has...i remember in high school mum laughing over his bum wiggles )...
( i played string bass for 7 years )
what is puszta? it sounds sort of slavic/dvorak something.
i dont know it...
dc, do you know it?
googled..hungarian
ah
Carlee. LOVE YOUS
thanks herin {{huggles}}
we are lstening/watching my dad's concerts
( I posted a link on fb )
I was on my mobile when you sent me the messages
i didnt know then
i was just going to bring you up to date on my visit to the hospital today
No you wouldn't FB mobile is silly
like many a Washingtonian, i have a weakness for Sousa. We hear Stars and Stripes and The Washington Post often here.
How is your Step mum handling everything?
she is ...hanging in i guess.. she "wants to be alone" to focus.when people are near her she falls apart
Does she have someone that is there for her?
and..she does not like to display emotion to others ( the era she grew up in )
she has lots of good and old friends in the neighbourhood
OK.
litterally a stones throw away
I apologise if the typing is all wonky have to pinch other computer
its ok...my typing is wonky too
thank you so much for sharing the band and concernts
