I can't, mrp -- bridge all afternoon tomorrow, bedtime shortly.
Great, chic!
Mi 6
oh jilli, stay and chat for a little then
and I don't do mornings
did you get my email??
The celebrex is really working for the hips feel so much better without all that pain.
Yes, jilli!
looks like you are coming in March, yes??
celebrex is a great drug chic
thank god jilli, I don't do mornings either, unless it is 11.30am
Yes it is
Oh, I'll be here for a while, but a bit blurred after a swim this afternoon and a long Happy Hour(sss) at the neighbours'.
mrp i dont do mornings either
you are my type of ladyfriend jilli!!
yes, mrp, March, probably early, and SO glad you don't do mornings either -- yippee!
mlf, it just isn't worth it... this AM thing...
What are mornings?
Tank
Oops sorry
you might find breakfast being cooked at about 10-11am at our house
thank you jellen, my question exactly
this isalnd is full of earlybirds -- the only thing I don't like about it (aside from the ferry fares these days)
ok clue man... where are you??
i'm jealous, mrp. i'll be at work by 8 tomorrow morning :(
jes, don't be jealous, i am stuck in bed!
my knee refuses to go away, so have to abide by its wishes and look at it
I don't cook breakfast -- just Orange juice, a bowl of cereal and a little black coffee.
i would luv to be at work! my work ended on 29th Aug, and I don't restart till Feb next season
I was bad today, so I have to get up before noon to run some errands that won't wait...
well jilli, we will get on just fine!!
oh mrp -- heal, willya! And stay put until you do. You said you'd gone to see your friend who is so ill and given her so much comfort with a massage and so on -- didn't that mean you had been on your feet?
Oh, that's a morning, isn't it? :-P
i have made a decision about my packing... gonna donate all the stuff that is just sitting around getting dusty... ie bowls, vases, kitchen wizz stuff... and if I really want it, will buy it from the donation shop
Jilli....thank you for my birthday icon
LOL, river -- you're welcome!
no hunny, i sat with her... did her nails and gave her a facial... just chatted away to her (she really couldn't answer) and was a good girl
river... mine was easier to get to!
but how did you get to her, mrp?
jellen! errands in the morning?? sacraligious
my husband drove me
oh no honey...my birthday icon was the best
i have crutches and a cane... i can get around without bearing weight
ok (thanks for that too, Lickety!)
4TH COLUMN i stats please if anyone has it?
in4/4
im 4/6
thanks
brb, clues have broken... need to go belt it with my cane!
good, mrp -- glad to hear you're taking care of yourself along with everyone else in your life.
got it
jilli, to be honest, I want to kill her daughter
Last column N stats, please?
Ugh. I never did get out tonight after all... told them to go without me. They're at a restaurant with some friends and I've raided the kitchen for a snack.
N bottom corner stats please?
jellen lol
That bad, mrp? :(
she is completely avoiding her mum, going out with disgusting boys and doing disgusting things on the internet and her phone... I can't do much but fend off the bastards, but she keeps putting herself right back in their path
don't have the n, mlf
ni 5
how old is she, mrp?
on ya neil! you can hang with us on the balcony of the PB... lounges and cabana boys are there for us
she is 13 jilli
Oh good. Hi mrp... glad I'm visible after all.
late flip hi all
Thanks, diz
Cabana boys are of no interest to me, but you go ahead.
diz should i know it?
a selfish age, mrp -- I remember
THEN, she gets onto FaceBook with a boy maddi likes and takes him!! Maddi is appalled
yes MLF
Cabana girls then, neil?
you could be one of the cabana boys then, neil ;)
Now you're talkin'. ;)
Neil - who is that on your shirt? Abe were and a Vamp what?
errr neil... they peel my grapes! they would do the same for you, no strings attached!
Uh, me? I don't think I'm in that kind of shape.
well, yes, neil, both ways :-]
hmmm what's that jilli? What's both ways?
our cabana boys don't swing with me anyway!
jellen did you find it?
ooooh, neil as a cabana boy!! **imagination goes wild**
I don't swing both ways, jilli.
Nope, still looking :-S
same here
ok, smacked that pony but clues are not far away
hello everyone :)
You'd be in for a serious disappointment mrp. Have you SEEN me half naked? Not pretty. [check Flickr].
you could enjoy cabana girls and be enjoyed as a cabana boy, neil. Think outside the box, lol!
Haha. I'd enjoy Cabana girls but doubt any women would enjoy me as a Cabana boy.
ty mrp ;-)
DO 6/7 if not called
hey, you are young, you are handsome... flaunt it
neil, you don't know how desperate some of us are, lol!
and yes, see what mrp said.
hi nan :)
Haha! Uh, if you want me as a Cabana boy that about says it all.
You are too kind with the compliments, mrp.
this isn't so easy this little grid... darn it!
Clues are up
thanks lickety
Thanks, lickety.
Thanks, lickety!
jellen?
Attaboy Lickety -- thanks!
Do you ever speak? #curious
Wow! Many thanks, Lickety!!
thanks lickety!
Yes, MLF?

Yes, all he ever says in here is "Clues are up".
do6 and do7
in6 and in7 compound

oreo is here again and still doesn't count
i am gettind desperate jellen lol
Got it! ae8,55.
no8.... compound! oooooh luv it... describes me
woohoo neil!!
jilli, it should count... cause it sure does on calories
I have that too. It describes sooo many people. :P
Haha, you? I was gonna say me actually.
omg! sa8... compound!!!
I loooooove this grid!! compound city!
Another compound: sa8,45
mrp thanks found it
Yes. Oh, you found it already!
Didn't see that until after I typed it here.
i know its early but can someone clue the corner N please?
I'm no good at long words and compounds :-(
I'm not either, jilli...
ca6,21 & ca7,32. Someone in our family has been one of these ✡ [in shul].
on5, oi6, od5 , in6 and ra6 have same ending... sounds scientific
i found Mo 5 for cos lol
te7,40
only got the sa 8. hmmm
gotcha, neil -- a singing family
no8 is not + opposite of extraordinary
ewwww, to the ef7.... new one for me
Haha, well we're not really. One member is.
But yes... singular and plural.
it means shortly afterwards in middle english
my clue is... what do you call the greek goddess of shopping.... ***POS (card) plus very shortly
and there are several circle measurments in ra5
same or5 is here as yesterday
mrp can you try another clue for that NO8 please?
compound word mlf no* (meaning not) + opposite of retard or not extraordinary
sorry, me being stupid with clue.... how about.... not playing along with the same traits and values??
no* + mo5 (meaning decent intention)
and the mo5 to this story is... I can't clue today
not so, mrp -- finally got it, thanks!
I would say no* [not} + ethical.
sorry, my ideas of mo5 differ in my aussie language
finally got it thanks mrp
stats for bottom corner n, please?
A friend of ours is in the grid... his first name. It's a word, so it works.
[mo5,12]
there should be a no 8 for not sticky if the other is accepted.
Geez. I'd go to the PB now if I complained about the Twitter mo5,12s.
watch out neil...mo4 than 1 mo 5,12
A nasty person I know is in the grid... mo5,12 last one... cause he is one!
I think that's the same word I just mentioned, mrp.
Haha, yes dart.
is the ae 8 a compound?
indeed neil!
No, MLFAN.
no it isn't... it is about dynamics of ae4
nbt
excuse me for a bit, my son is changing my dressing
nice son, mrp
ok, ignore that statement, he would rather I not tell you
thank you all kindly
the ae4 being a babblet right?
bottom corner n stats, please???
ni 5/10, nan
i think its a ni 6

Several good ✡ words in this grid. :)
Or a few, anyway.

wtg = way to go
oh man... listening to the US open players.... totally not happy!!
ah, way to go... sorry, and thanks
I thought wtg was a new word site! LOL
LOL :)
Whew! That wasn't a bad little grid. When are we going to get a nice BIG one, I keep wondering?
I suggested large large grids for the weekend, but it isn't happening
oh neil!!! Congrat, but have pity on a Dull Normal like me!
Are you done?
same to you, mrp!
Oh, does Lickety make them any size he wants, or is it a program that just makes the puzzles up randomly?
Congrats, Neil
Yes, boatierra.
I haven't had time to work on these grids for days
Thanks jilli and Jellen!
BRB. Need a drink.
It's a program...
Whoa, in less than an hour. Impressive. I have 38 words. I'll be lucky if I get half way.
Lickety doesn't make up the grids -- Dr_God does witha computer
it looks like the US Open Tennis is screwing everyone over... the general consesus, the US Open heads-of-state are not listening
my footy team is going down too lol
Haven't been watching the tennis
we have a grid that we have made and use... but it isn't for public use... I have one grid that is 900+ with a couple of 13 letter words! is brilliant
oh vanilla... not fun to watch them losing.
Wow, mrp!
well at least the hype will die down
Going to take a kitchen break -- back soon
I know jilli! it is so good! and takes about 3 days to do... one of the grids had a 15 letter word!
fireworks
on ya dart! and neil :)
wtg wd congrats dart
congrats dart and neil
Congrats, dart!
hello and yay dart !!
hi west :)
hi mrp
Hi, west
hi jellen
yay neil too I didn't scroll down far enough
Roddick needs to shave - icky
hi west
hi dart
I agree Mr P
Hi, DR
DR nice to see you
was it scary yesterday?
Hi Jellen and West and everyone
or just maddening?
Yes a bit of both - took me 2 hours for a normal 20 minute drive
Jakester was home alone in the afternoon but phone service was not working so I was nervous
hi DR :)
jill -- were you shaken up much today?
Hi Mr P ( HUGS)
phantom dominion
that would be scary but he's a capable young man
holy moly DR! what happened?
He was reading when we got home
well, perfect star to jake!
Mrp- There was a Massive Power outage from Mexico to ARizona and half of southern california
SOmeone in AZ was changing a part and did not follow procedure- 5 million people lost pwoer
what?? how does that happen??
started in the afternoon- Our power came back on around 1am.. My parents are in the " boil water" part of town.
our daughter called from the landline in her office
i'm shocked?
which also included San Diego State University! Not sure how the students are going to boil water to brush their teeth
Back. HI westford and ruru! :)
Hi, ruru
West- The phones were very sketchy! She was lucky to get thru
I'm from San Diego originally.
the scariest part is that one person can do that..good thing he was on our side
Hi Ruru
hi Dr..
I love San Diego.. a great town
She's the GIS coordinator for the city of Encinitas
oh good lord, these idiot teens just don't stop!! brb... getting the cattle prod (goad)
Exactly Westie- though I believe he may be unemployed now
I said hi to you ruru.
And westford.
hey .. hi neil
That's better. ;)
Hi Neil
hi neil didn't see you come back
hi jellen
I crept in quietly.
I'm baaaack -- hi west and ruru
hi jill
Hi Jilli
i
Was it today you had to attend that event, ruru?
hi jilli and nan
*hi jilli.. is not in the dictionary*
nan -- we didn't feel a thing here.
LOL Ruru
yes... neil
hi west
Hey what do you know... I'm not in this grid.
[yes, I just noticed that]
I didn't either, but people who live on the east side of the lake did
Concerning the power outage, I looked up an article on AZCentral.com and copied a bit about the "how" - A Arizona Public Service Co. worker was switching out a capacitor, which controls voltage levels, outside Yuma, Ariz., near the California border. Shortly after, a section of a major regional power line failed, eventually spreading trouble further down in California and later Mexico, officials said.
Oh, how did that go ruru?
Were you able to sit for most of the time?
I had to stand. .for 4 hours.. and drove for 5 hours..I'm glad to be home
Oh man. I guess so! :(
oh gee ruru so sorry
Oops, not AZCentral, Yahoo news. My bad.
You wouldn't want to drive my car.
If I had been there I would have found a chair for you
Would be a killer on bad knees.
Oh Ruru- that is terrible
I would have too!
I can say one thing however
my son phoned from Quebec right after the quake to see how we were here -- I said "What quake?" He had heard a beep from his iPhone and CBC to say there had been one off Vancouver Island.
What's that ru?
haven't found that ae 8, but need to crash -- see you tomorrow )
good night nan glad you're okay
hairspray for women and hair gel for me are really in in the mid peninsula
gnight Nan
were you gasping for breath ruru?
It relates to the ae4,4 just before it, nan.
It was safari theme
Ruru , you couldn't get a wheel chair? Couldn't get crutches or even an ordinary chair? I hope you didn't do further damage to your knee.
I thought I dropped some acid or something
I hate hair gel and hairspray. Wouldn't do me any good anyway. Hey, when is that crazy hair theme?
did you go dresses as Tarzan?
Oh it's now?
Well, for tomorrow?
dressed*
women in leapord colored outfits..
I have some real bad hair photos of myself I can use, haha. Embarrassing but I'll change to one now.
the crazy hair theme is NOW, neil -- didn't you see mine or check my profile where I list all the themes???
westie.. come on
I just checked it a minute ago jilli, ys.
you know I can't get covered by a loin cloth
Yes, even. Geez.
you crack me up ruru lol
:D
jilli I googled crazy hairdos but they were all so ridiculous so I picked the cute kid
Ok, changed it. This is a little embarrassing. If I didn't crop it so closely you'd see more of my crazy, unruly hair... but I think this is enough to see why I usually keep it buzzed so short?
I really like the one you chose
Actually the full uncropped copy of this photo has someone else in it with even crazier hair... but can't use that.
Haha, that's cute, westford.
neil where did that curly hair come from?
I'm Jewish, westford.
hate to intyerupt curly hair and loin cloth chat but I have foreworks
I know that but not all Jewish people have hair that curly
Lots of our relatives have hair like that. Mom was lucky to get straight hair.
No, but it's very common with us.
Yay van !!
Congrats, vanillaslice.
oops fireworks
You have great hair, neil, not crazy at all. Lots of people would love to have hair like yours.
I wondered if it was from your mother's side or your father's side neil
you can say that again jilli
Ummm no, jilli. If I let it grow it's insane. Mad scientist hair... and I'm not even a scientist.
West, your little guy is a real cutie.
Mostly Mom's side.
Isn't he?
Congrats, vanilla!
Anti-frizz serum is a G-d send for those with naturally curly hair.
And I thought I'd founda really crazy hairdo but nobody noticed.
all the people who have curly hair want straight hair and vice versa
I did jilli I said I liked it
Tru dat westford!
Why do people with curly hair want straight and those with straight want curly?
wait till you see mine jilli
"Grass is greener" syndrome I'm thinking.
snap, west -- and sorry, I didn't see that -- may have been in the kitchen
somebody said you didn't have any, ruru
it was after you came back but there were several conversations going on at once..
ruuster, whatever hair you have left on your body, i am sure the short and curlies are not a view we need darling!
you're so baaad mrp lol
I still have hair on my head thank you
please ask doren
oh good, ruru
I have naturally curly hair and most of my life I've heard from complete strangers how much they envy my hair.
well, I think that's who gave me the idea you had none
hahaha!! good on dorens
kje started it actually jilli
I have the TV on and it's an infomercial for Hair Club lol
oh -- mised that. Now you'll hae to attend one of our NW gatherings and prove it.
i have hair... hair hair hair hair... should donate some to lickety ;)
ruru that's a great picture
ruuster, if I come to the USA, you better be there to pick me up hunny!
astronomy is my phantom tonight
you show up in California.. and I will pick you and the family up mr p.. anywhere
I have exactly zero words I'm diving in..
oh goodie! will make LA my first stop!
Then you will head north to Salt Spring, right?
jilli, I WILL be visiting you!
Stop[ping off, maybe, in Olympia -- ruru will drive you there too and join us all...
brb.. gotta look at the bathroom again
mr yu4 is mean..... mr yu4 is green!
in loo of what mr p
oh dear, ruru's at it again
oh, for today's theme i wish i had a scan of me great-great-grandparent's wedding photo. Her hair and headdress, though i'm sure fashionable in Bratislava at the time, oh the sight!
i approve of ruru's puns
sorry jilli.. don't worry it's seasonal.. it's di-urinal
good evening/morning, yall :)
sshhh, dc!
<---loves DC
heeheeheeeheehee
after all these years.. how have I lost all my ability to find words?
theres' bunch of ca4 through ca7 words relating to a style of singing and poetry.
I'm finding this harder than usual
ca 4.5.6.7.6.5
so am i, jilli
glad to hear I'm not the only one, dc
hi seain
hi, west
coming up for air. I saw what you said about your greatx3 grandparents wedding photo..how fortunate that you have that
three-card mo5, or a spanish peak
Ok it's not staying, but there's some even crazier hair.
oh foof, just found the volcano. Where is my mind?
Hi Seain.
did you see the buffalo jilli
ty dc for the mo5
thanks seain and jilli..I found my real name
thanks for the buffalo ruru
it was one of the things, along with a German wall clock that was a wedding gift, and their marriage certificate, in Hungarian and Slovak, that they brought with them on the trip to Philadelphia, eventually ending up in New Hope before moving to Cleveland at the insistence of my great-grandmother, their only child.
Ummm, anyone see what I said?
all our old friends are here
no, ruru -- and ty -- duh to me
ta, west :)
I saw that west, and it counts, too!
hi, neil, and no :)
scrolled back, and and now have seen.
not so crazy
Crazy enough.
cu5 is a spice
cu5.16 that is
yeah .. a little.. but..
neil how old are you in that picture?
ah, new picture, neil, and yes, that's crazier
oh didn't see the new one
Oh, I would've been 23 there.
the hairy-nosed dolphin is here too, I see
thanks jilli
yw west
wouldn't it be wonderful to be 23 again
I think you will always look young neil
23 was not a happy time for me as a 50s housewife with a 2-yr-old
Ack! To be 23 again?
I was just getting married...
I had 3 babies and one on the way
wow..
not me
I was in a new city with no money and no family or friends and a very busy hubby
Oh that must've been hard jilli.
hmm
that doesn't sound good jilli
I often think how nice it would have been in those days to have the internet
It was awful but it all worked out in the end.
The 50s were a bad time for those of us who were not June Cleaver
you didn't wear high heals and pearls to do the dishes?
not quite, west, lol!
I need the stats for the bottom right n for nbt please
ni 5/10
ni5/10, west
thank you diz
yw

That's better.

G'night, ruru

West, are you still here?
I am
trying to find an 8 before I give up
Oh, good luck at that...wait I have an 8...
no 8/45
I'll give you 5 bucks for that lol
sa8/45 - the sort of place where you might find a bargain (compound)
not + ethical
thank you haz 5 pounds for you..or are you doing euros now?
Thanks for the sa8, Haz
We're holding on to the pound sterling!
The other 8 is ae8/55.
good idea
yay for me I have all 3
thank you very much
Yay for you, west!
still have 94 for later
You're welcome, westford.
I've been talking on the phone...have 180 left :-)
I actually finished the grid from hell yesterday
It wasn't the nicest grid we've ever seen.
I would like to announce that we had sunshine today
I'm expecting a blizzard any day now
It's being so cheerful keeps you going, westford!
Could I have a hint for the second half of the ae 8, please?
I just might get my walk to the beach
It's the ending of the word used to study stars.
Thanks, Haz!
You're welcome.
I just got calls from friends! They are coming for dinner and I ain't cooking... so wonderful
Good news for you, mrp!
that is nice jellen will it be pot luck?

not sure yet, just finished breakfast
how about you, mrp? are you truly up and around and (hopefully) without pain?
OMG! The epidemic of children smoking in Indonesia... we had a story about it here a couple of months ago... and it has been found (evidence) that the country has an endemic problem... children smoking as young as 3 to treat ADD and ADHD
ha ruby! breakfast is the break of the day!!
that is shocking, mrp
Am still laid up hunny... at least 3 more weeks to go
long recuperation! but, hopefully, when it's over, you'll be better than new!
what is with the smoking kids?? that is incredible... I guess they don't have the education to deal with it.
Very strange...to treat ADD?
hello jellen!
Just added a pic of my latest potential beau to my profile :-)
will check after; that is good news, jellen
Hope so, ruby...we've just been out once, but I have a good feeling about him...
sending good vibes your way!
hah, my real name is in here, only for the second time!
So it is!
I will take it as a good sign
do you have a clue for the bottom n?
for nbt
ni 5/10 = number before ten -e + not off
slap me with a mackeral. I was looking for that word, but didn't see it
thanks
You're welcome!

( sue..i had a minor heart attack when i got my text book for physics...I am NOT sure how its going to go.... for physics course for NON science students its chuck full of functions and calculus )
i+ pala**** pony
yayayay!
calculus, eh? well, please let me know if you need help with anything! If you send me the name of the book I might be able to get a copy (or i might already have it)
vibrations and waves by george C. King
ok, I don't have that one but will look it up
who's the publisher?
( i havent done calculus in 20 odd years )
wiley
nm, I found it
it's wiley - I've done some work for them so shouldn't have any trouble getting them to send me the book
i have physics first class on monday ( yay..what a way to start back at school...first class is physics!!!! )
and then i have this stupid lame history class that i ONLY took to be in my home college for lecture..and they flippin put me in main campus for..women's history in the workforce....seriously?....
well, should be an easy A, at least!
tonnes of other history courses i WANTED to take..but i thought..i should take this one to be in home college for a couple credits
there are 5 essays, 1 book report..and 2 exams with 45 articles to read and its a 1/2 course

Good morning Kat, Sue and Peri!
hi scrabs :)
did u have a good borthday hun?
hi peri, ni5---curtain material, very sheer
ni + not out + not off
Hi Scrabbs
Hi Annie & Bobby.
Happy belated birthday Scrabbs.
TY Molly
ty nbt and nbs bbl
Yes, I actually had a nice week and my youngest sister ordered me a Nook Color which should arrive in a few days.
Bobby says "hi" back to you, Scrabbs. He is happy, the Mets won
Is there a Mets game today for him to watch?
Yes, there is but we might we going out today. Mets are playing in the afternoon. I have to help him hang an old fashioned Coke sign in his room
I just found a spice.
be back soon
hi, scrags!
*scrabs
Summer is a***** in.
need my morning coffee :-(
i need foodage....and coffee..but am lazy and still in bed
It's OK, Sue. I know what you meant to type.
Hi Kaplan
Hi. 75 left. Long day.
hi, kap!
I had a mug of coffee but no breakfast yet and I woke up 2 hrs ago when a 10 lb rabbit named Tucker jumped into my bed for some attention.
hi kap
well, that would get some attention :-)
I had a dream my old cat could talk.
( at least isnt a 70 pound dog that did the same to me scrabs)
Yes, Carlee!
English, Kaplan?
It could repeat numbers.
<---- carlee been thinking of scrabs alot as she reads watership down
That's on my shelf to read. Do you know that I never read it?
its beautifully written....but....so far ( 115 pages in ) its working as a sedative am afraid... not much of a page turner for me... but i am glad i am reading it...
I scanned it many yrs ago and knew I would have trouble remembering those names.
stopping in to urge carlee to keep reading - it's a wonderful book- loved reading it many years ago, totally immersed in their world
the names arent bad... i just have a hard time envisioning this whole little rabbit society...
lovely names, if I remember, names of trees, leaves, bushes Hawthorn, Hazel
Buon giorno amica j!
( i have no choice jbv..required reading )
Ciao, Scrabbs!
hazel, fiver, bigwig, silver
Yes, we loved them all
i hope to finish today so i can read harriet the spy tomorrow
I have lived with at le5 one rabbit (and up to 4) since 1983. Their personalities and behaviors are fascinating.
and after that, carlee, I'll also recommend the Mattimeo series (for slightly younger readers, I think)
no rabbits, just medieval mice :)
Oh, this is the Childrens' Literature class?
( JBV.... i now have an entire shelf of reading for my courses...)
Redwall, etc? I re4 Redwall to my nephews and would love to read the entire series.
yes... it is scrabs
well, I would never classify Harriet the Spy in the same category of "literature" as Watership Down, but yes, that's it
Yes, Redwall - read all of them
And "The Wind in the Willows."
Wow, JBV. There must be close to 20 now?
OMG, just ready in NYT that "Super Fly" is in development for Broadway!!
oh really? I have not kept up... I think I read 3 or 4
GM, Une. My Columbine seeds have all germinated in the pots!
"music by ’70s-era soul, funk, and R&B artists"
I also read everything my son read all the way through high school, many things I had read myself, a lot of new ones, I am not too impressed by what "young adult fiction" has to offer
scrabs, that's so exciting!
columbines are so pretty!
yay, scrabs!
after the drought ended this week with 5" of rain, I have 3 red spider lilies that just popped up :-)
lets see...required reading for this class is...watership down, secret garden harriet the spy ...some assorted robert munsch, alice in wonderland, alice through the looking glass, the lion the witch and the wardrobe the hobbitthe sotry of the treasure seekers, sunburst, the priincess and the goblin and a wizard of earth sea, tom sawyer, and a load of hans christian anderson stories
I harvested the seeds from the pods and planted them a few wks ago. I am going to do the same with lily seeds.
you've got quite a mix there carlee - what age group are you aiming for?
LOTS of reading, Kat.
scrabs, you're GOOD!!
its the course....childrens literature
my blackberry lilies are setting seeds as we speak!
have fun, back to childhood, enjoy it!
wonderful selections, carlee :-)
I'm reading the Brothers Karamazov right now - falling in love with Dostoevsky
I don't know why it has taken me so long to harvest seeds of my existing plants.
well, growing from seeds takes patience -- you obviously have more than I :-)
that on top of this history course... and a physics course that is looking like is all calculus and functions ( for NON science students even )
scrabs have you ever collected seeds from lily of hte valley- they have bright red pods right now
altho I encourage my flowers to self-seed LOL
One of my co-workers is a master gardener and she brought some cuttings in a vase. There are 4 types of gorgeous sunflowers that I have never seen before.
OMG my lily of the valley is taking over my beds!
oh, how wonderful, scrabs!
Greetings to all!!!!
Do you speak to your flowers about that, Une?
hey, mm!!
i love lilly of the valley
Hi movieman :)
I like them, Une, but I know what you mean, they spread, but mine are in a corner where they don't bother any other flowers :)
we do have the occasional whispered chats :-)
me too, carlee :-)
Lily of the Valley have a lovely scent
I have no lily-of-the-valley, just tiger lilies, day lilies and something-doro lily.
Hi MM
anyway... back to watership... i will pop in from time to time to chat...am afraid the grids will wait until may for the most part
i agree, annie -- just delightful
Not to boast or anything, but last year I managed to read all the Harry Potter books in the space of a single week
I have a day lily in a pot on my terrace..I love it
Pop in to chat occ, Kat.
bye carlee, and hi and bye to Annie - have to run, be back later, good luck everyone
Bye JBV
when my mom first gave me some lily of the valley years ago, it was with the admonition, "you know, they'll take over" -- and YAY, love that they've spread like crazy LOL
LOL, I played in4/4 in a Scrabble game earlier today.
carlee, good luck in school this year !
oh i will scrabs... wont be in morning tho...all my classes start at 9...and i have the 1 hour drive to school..so am leaving at 7 am to ensure i dont get too snarled in rush hour traffic
thanks annie...
hey, annie -- am transporting 4 hound mix pups this afternoon :-)
I have some other ground cover that has taken over--tiny green round leaves.
Une, I am happy to hear that the hounds will have a good home
I have a salvia and I would love to get some seeds from this plant...how would I do that?
In front I have Creeping Jenny, but I should search for what I have out back. I have Salvia plants too.
Yay for Une and rescued dogs!
and can they germinate (if that is the right word to use) in6s in the winter?
they are this absolutely beautiful red-orange color
Annie, google "harvest salvia seeds" -- LOTS of info!
Will do...thanks Une...I am always googling, why didnt I think of that
google is my answer to everything LOL
I have purple Salvia.
well, now they're calling them border collie mixes instead of hounds -- 3 brothers and a sister
gee, i'm over half way already! much easier grid today
Siblings! Cute.
this is the little girl: http://www.petfinder.com/petdetail/206 43716
It's hard to believe that tmrw is 10 yrs since 9/11. That day, and the ensuing days, are so vivid in my brain.
Yes, 10 years...there is a column of blue light coming up from where the towers were
Adorable pup.
Did you know any victims, Annie?
i agree, scrabs :-)
Yes, We lost a fireman who lived in our building and a young woman who was an airline steward whose father thought it was dangerous so he talked her into taking a job in the towers and she perished. More than sad.
yikes -- gotta get ready for soup kitchen bd mtg -- later! *poof*
Bye Une
good morning dear friends
Oh God Annie, that is a sad story.
Hey Trif.
Hi Trif :)
hi, trif!
Annie, my sister lives in Bergen County, NJ and recalls the numerous daily obits of victims in their local newspaper. And her next-do4 neighbor was on the phone with a Ca6-Fitzgerald worker and suddenly the line went dead.
My friend Riva walked down 82 floors. As soon as the plane hit the first tower her boss said "OUT" and they left. He saved her life.
hello dear friends! So nice to have a chance to babble! I really, really miss my laptop....not having it is cutting way down on my babble time!
Hi Trif. How has the start of the school yr gone so far? How is Primo?
Hi scrabbler! School year seems off to a good start for the girls, and Primo is deliriously happy at college...all is well
Smart decision, Annie.
Oh Scrabbs, that gave me the chills
ar
very good to hear, trif!
LOL at "deliriously happy." Freedom, living with peers, no adult supervision, studying art---fun!
hmmm. not to mention the "penis shaped pasta" one of his roommates made for dinner last night! God help us ALL
Silly kids.
Oh that is so "college". I remember the giant, penis shaped snow sculptures I used to see on campus after a big snow fall.
he and I have a pact to not see each other or speak on the phone for two weeks, unless it's an emergency....facebook, texting, etc. are all fine though.
LOL holly!
Molly, sorry....no glasses!
Why Trif?
we are really, really close, and this is going to help both of us, I think.
X
VA
I can't be running up there all the time, and he can't be running home every weekend. It's time for him to fly. I told him he can fly past me, but he can never fly beyond me....
Wise words, Trif.
don't for a SECOND think it's not killing me! At least twenty times a day I think of some flimsy reason to leg it up to Boston...have resisted all impulses thus far....
Guten Morgen Freundin Inge!
Good for you, Trif. One of my friends spoke with her college daughter (out-of-town) every morning and every evening.
off topic, but running reminded me....do you guys use the term "book" for going really fast? As in, "I was late for work yesterday, so I had to BOOK across town!"
I am wondering if it is a Bostonian thing
it's not bostonian, i don't think, because cher uses it in clueless, and that's in CA.
thanks hurshy!
Sorry, listening to mother ramble on phone. Yes, we say, "Let's book it."
scrabbler, enjoy her rambling....one day you will long to hear it!
Good morning all
Yes, that's what I remind myself. She goes off on tangents, complains, whines, criticizes my father...
morning boo!
Hi Boo
oh dear! okay, maybe THAT you won't miss!
I just listen. It's a long story, but we have never been close, so I don't discuss anything serious or personal.
gosh, just ignore me then, please...I shouldn't have butted in....
Good morrning
It is one of my greatest hurts of my life. I envy friends that have close relationships with their mothers.
Happy Satuday Friends.
Hi hego
Oh, Scrabs, I had the same thing with my mother.
It is very sad, indeed.
(((Scrabs))) (((Hego)))
Hi Molly, hugs to you
Mental illness has had a profound effect since I was a kid. And I must remind myself that I can't fix it nor am I responsible for it.
Right!
It's just very sad.
Hi Hego
Very difficult
Hi Boo
BRB, I must get breakfast. Anybody want something? Oatmeal? Yogurt? Toast? Coffee? Tea?
Scrabs, that is so hard!!! My mother and I were just starting to develop a relationship as adults when she died - I was 22 - I have mostly good memories of her (we fought a lot when I was a teenager, but what else is new?). I am very glad to have those memories.
and I will take some oatmeal and yogurt, thanks! :-)
I would love a cuppa, scrabs, please upload me one!
and hi, hego and boo!
tea would be nice.
Hi Sue
and hurshy!
TY for your orders.
Scrabbs, If I am being out of line please say so, does your mother have mental issues...asking for a reason
lol Scrabs
Scrabs, you are a remarkably well balanced person having grown up with that scenario between you and your Mom. I know several people who are not so fortunate.
Yes, she does. Two breakdowns when I was growing up. And, yes, dealing with adversity has made me a compassionate, resilient person
Thank you for answering...you are a wonderful human being
Clue for ae 8 please
we must create the life we want and deserve rather than be angry and sad about what we didn't have as kids.
ae + ast****** is the study of the stars
TY, Molly. New word for me.
Amen Scrabs. So many people carry undue emotional baggage from their past. And that is crippling to the spirit.
scrabbs, as so we must...kidstuff is in the past and sometimes we need help to get us past the hard times
ty Molly. You are a cluer supreme!
I have a constant hurt and have had longterm help!
In the last year of her life my mom went on Lexapro and became a whole different person.
She lived to 92 and had just one good year.
Once when I needed help the psychologist told me that something that was hidden from me was unjust and unfair to me and that one remark jumped me hurdles past years of hurt.
My mother has not seen a doctor in probably 25 yrs, distrusts doctors, is critical of doctors, should take a med, and has made her choices.
But it was great to have a nice time with her for that short time.
hego, you had that year :)
Annie, sometimes we just need to hear someone else say that. It's amazing.
Both of you were lucky.
Scrabs we sneaked it in with her other pills.
She never knew what it was.
Just to have a kind, nonjudgmental person to listen is wonderful.
Good for you, Hego!
: )
Ty Molly
Yay I just passed halfway.
I have to leave and help Bobby move some plants...bye you dear babblers
Yay scrabs!
Bye Annie
Bye Annie. Enjoy the day.
I forgot to say that I brought out the breakfast tray. Help yourself to coffee, tea, oatmeal, yogurt, etc.
ty Scrabs
Scrabs, did you have a good B'day?
Yes, I celebrated with Mary's kids on Tuesday, had dinner with 4 friends on Wed, and my NJ sister called to say she ordered a Nook Color for me.
That's great!
howdy everone:)
I love my ereader.
Hi Crossy

Oooo a light. that's a good idea!
I found a bundle of accessories on Amazon--case, car charger, light, etc, for $25
sounds good, but make sure you get a cover for it
Now I'm excited!
Covers are a must.
i have dropped my many times and thank my luck i have a good sturdy cover for it
Screen protector = cover?

they sell them and the B+N site
I have looked at many. Do you use a stylus?
no scrabbler,my nook is a first gen model and not the full screen
i have the 2 inch colour screen at the bottom
the beauty of the nook,is eash of file transfer, the fact it runs best with Epub files, and the fact that the battery,if need,be is consumer replacable
and you can cram a 16 gig mico sd card into it and you will never lack for space
Yes, I read about the microSD card.

i can also store my paperwork files for household and work on it
thing is my constant companion
i keep all my nook files backed up on a 8 gig usb flash key just in case
kk,lol, crossy will stop gushing bout his nook now
yours will be even better scrabbs, with its full colour touch screen it will almost be like having a tablet/reader
Yes, it is an affordable "iPad2."
indeed
this your first e-reader scrabbs?
i have a sony reader. was given to me by my favorite cousin as of now lol.. like the ease of putting books on from library
my mrs uses a sny e-reader
sony
hers is the short lived prs-700 full screen touch with built in side lighting
oh nice.. im still getting used to mine
I just have an old Kindle, but it goes everywhere I do.
kindle will be updating so u can get books from a library
they do have a way of getting irreplaceable fast
i hope so ivesy, everyone else can run epubs
Ivesy ther are so many books now I can hardly get to them
What with Babbling and all. lol
lol hego.. i know.. my head spins when i think of all the books i want to read
Yes, this will be my first e-reader.
scrabbs will be able to babble on her nook colour
Right!
Me too, Ivesy.
our director went to a meeting and kindle is finally getting on board
You'll love it Scrabs.
crossy is only 20 books behind atm;0

I am a reading fanatic--books, magazines, the web...
seems like the older i get, the more books i want to read.. even in our childrens room, so many good chapter books i havent read
Should I buy a 32g micro Sd or will 16g be more than enough?
16 will be more than enough
but get a top wuality sd card..pny,sandisk etc kodak
Ok--21.20 on Amazon
quality
I have read so few of the "classics."
crossy loves gutemberg.com
gutenberg
Yep, SanDisk is my pick.
wife is reading jack london books atm
white fang, call of the wild, the cruise of the dazzler, sea wolf etc
im trying to read wuthering heights . and hard times by dickens
I have about 24 real books to catch up on.
Both excellent!
quite an undertaking crossy
me scrab lol
And MANY on my Amazon wish list.
how can anyone not want to read!! lol
The mind Boggles!!!
amazon can put me broke with my wish list
I know many people, more so males, that are not readers. Videogames, TV dominate time for them.
Oh, yes!
I have a Chase Amazon credit card and earn points to use on Amazon, even right at checkout.
trying to figure out how my amazon bill got so hgh.. then i look at my orders oh yeah thats how
Hmmm maybe I should get one of thase, Scrabs.
I buy from Amazon a lot.
I do too
me too hego.. my fave site.
hi everybuddy
You get 3 points for spending $ on Amazon, and 1 or 2 for other purchases, and there are quarterly incentives, e.g. gas purchases.
i would be lost without my books
i get my books from freebooks.com,gutemberg,and err..other sources
Me too. My shelves are overflowing. I need to declutter by throwing out old medical texts, journals.
often get uncorrected editor e-book proofs for free as well
can u dowload books from freebooks crossy?
there are many free e-book sites out there ivesy
Hubby and I just cleaned out all the old outdated texts, Scrabs
Recycled them.
even if you can only read them and not dl them, all you do is copy and paste the entire thing to a open format using open office or windows office, then use the calibre program to turn it to pdf or epub
calbre is your best friend
calibre*
then just drag and drop into your reader
store run brb
I just bookmarked the Calibre site. TY, Crossy.
it is such a god program i would pay for it,nut it is free
hi again, all!
Welcome back, Sue
more books, crossy? can't keep up with the ones I have...waiting for retirement, then I can catch up :-)
You have to get an ereader , Sue
I have one, hego, can't keep up with those either :-)
: )
They make it WORSE.
I also have three different e-readers on my phone
Bye for now. BBL
kindle (which I also have on my computer), something called "books", kobo, and the reader that came with the phone.
Bye Hego
so I guess that is four.
morning babblers. clue for the re 8 pls?
and bye, hego!
re 6, please
I don't see myself retiring til age 75 or so, if I am still alive then.
Hi Owl
I was figuring on 70
I have a nook..and I am reading a book called The Hunt. It is very good.
and hi, TO!
Hi TO and Owl
TO, you better have a good re6 for asking for that clue
sue i retired, got a job at the library and now have books at my finger tips lol.. mind boggling
ooh, that's a good idea, ivesy!
wow ty molly
and thanks for the re, molly!
of course, as a professor emeritus I will still be able to use the university library (which I don't have much time for at the moment)
and hello sue, molly , temple , boo and anyone i missed
Hi ivesy
I guess I'm hopelessly old fashioned. I just can't get jazzed about e-readers. I still prefer real books.
i do too molly. i have some on my reader. but my house has books in every room
Real books are still ok to read as It is what you prefer to read.
Between the time I spend playing this game, and the part-time computer work I do, I have enough "screen time".
I prefer real books too, molly, but the e-reader is nice when I am traveling (especially by plane)
Good Morning Everybody! We have another beautiful day here (sorry for you folks on the east coast; but your bad weather is causing our nice weather here)
Ditto for me, Sue
It is beautiful here, in western NY state. In fact, it is time to go walk in the park. 94 to find later
hi and bye Scrabs
bye, scrabs!
and hi, nef! My son is in Minneapolis for the weekend!
What's he doing here, Sue? I hope he knows a local who can show him the sights! :-)
He's visiting friends and going to a concert (by a group whose name I can't remember). He spent two years there going to school, graduated a year ago June.
so he still has lots of friends there, and knows at least some of the sights (the ones he could walk to) - he lived in the Loring Park area
Hi Nef
Good morning Sue! At least I think it is. [still not awake yet]
Well, he should know the Cities fairly well then. It's so nice here that this is the time to visit
hi Boo abd Neil
Hi Nef.
hi, neil! still morning here - just finished my breakfast
Clue for ar 5/12 please
We haven't had ours yet... I'm the only one awake here so far, haha. Just having coffee.
ar + the last three of what you use Preparation H for
What time zone are you in, Sue?
central (Babble time!!)
ae8?
Ty Molly
Oh, ok. Then you're a couple of hours ahead of us.
ae + ast***** is the study of the stars
thx, molly!
wow what a word
it's the study of the upper atmosphere
thanks, Molly. That gives me NBS (and I already had NBT)
Molly, what time do you start the grid? You always seem to be giving difficult clues in the AM whenever I'm here! :-)
oh, right, me too, nef!
Sorry I wasn't quicker with clues... I've been back and forth here.
nice new icon, neil
It depends Nef. I do most of it early in the morning. Whenever I get up.
hello everybody
half this AM
Nice, ruby? Ugh. I hate this photo, haha! My hair... uh, that's NOT a crazy hair-do, it's a crazy hair-don't! You can see why I usually keep it very short.
I only put it there because of the icon theme.
neil, my nephew has the super curly hair too and he keeps it very short also. I (and probably most women) am very envious of all the hair and how curly it is!
I'm in the grid today, only the second time it's happened (my real name, lol)
there we go,all the bird feeders filled:) if you do not keep them topped up,they hop right on the window sills and tease the hell out of the cats
((RUBY))
hahah {{crossy}}
hi, ruby!
I thought of NB when I saw that Ruby.
and the ae8 word is now in the physics babblets list :-)
our dogs think the bird feeder is a floorshow; ruby watches for hours
{{sue}}
*sigh* I miss him.
yes, so true, makes me feel like it's a sign.....
he's saying hello
crossy misses jesse as well
phantom:arnica
Envious, Nef? I don't think anyone would want hair as coarse and curly as this?!
raising hand, I would, I would!!!!
well, I'm being scolded by the cats right now: dtr went out of town and either didn't clean the cat box or leave f4/8 out I imagine. :-( BBS after I find and fix their problem.
I doubt you would if you had it, ruby! Grass is always greener and all that, y'know?
too funny, nef!
my hair is fine, thin and straight, neil and EVERY hairdresser all of my life has felt that they HAD to tell me that!
Oh cats will let you know when they're not happy about something!
My dad and stepmom have cats.
your name is actually a word, too, ruby! cool!
mine is fine, thin and very curly -- takes a really good hairdresser to cut it properly
NOW to deal with the cats brb
and my head is the size of an orange!
if our 2 cats are not happy bout the litter situation they will crap on the couch to let you know..they are subtle that way
veiled hints, crossy
How can your head be the size of an orange? Unless there are some really giant oranges around?
Oh gross, crossy!
have you seen my FB icon photo? my head looks VERY small
We had a cat that hated everyone and everything, including herself. She used the top of the refrigerator as a litter box...
not really neil,if you have had kids, the first thing you learn is that poop and puke wash off
that is a lot of trouble for making a statement, bzzn
That's disgusting, Bea! Really though... a self-loathing cat? How do you know she hated herself?
I have a cat that hates everyone BUT herself - annoying as she sometimes bites, hisses at the other cat and the dog, but then wants to be petted - sigh
Sure, but you'd have to really shampoo that well, crossy. I'd probably use a steam-cleaner on it. They don't do that very often, hopefully?
She would hiss and snarl at herself.
what is the cat's name, sue
Sorry, I intended to type "hates herself".
we have a steam cleaner
Misty
cats are wonderfully funny
Hiss and snarl at herself? How does that work... at her reflection in a mirror?
Yes, ruby. I always say cats are very "trippy".
and a litter box is good for exactly 2 days..no more.we just have to follow the cats schedule is all
cat poop isn't hard to clean up (because it is, well, hard); cat pee is another matter altogether
I mis having cats, but husband is in favor of de-clawing, and I refuse to have one here
Wow, crossy. They sure like it clean!
Clue for ar6
Hated herself is correct. She passed several years ago.
many vets will no longer de-claw here ruby
hi boo, don't have it
I would not have a cat declawed, but when I rescue them I do look for declawed ones
Yes, Sue. It's difficult to remove every trace of cat urine.
it is the worst, as far as I'm concerned but we all know how weird DH is
ar+elbow and knees are j****s
tell your hubby, you will de-claw the cat as soon as we get all his fingernails pulled out
hahah, crossy, he's in bad enough shape without that!
thx, bea!
My stepmom just clips their claws short and files them, so they're blunt.
Thx bea
Yes, Neil. She would hiss at her own reflection, at her shadow and if her tail got in her sight, she would snarl at it.
ty bea, strange word
we have a scratching post that our 2 kittles love, they do notclaw anything else
Saves the furniture and her sanity. They never go outdoors so they don't need them sharp.
Oh wow, Bea. What a strange cat!
two of our dogs, when teething, bit through wallpaper, plaster and lath, left big holes in the wall
bea, that is even strange by cat standards
You're lucky, crossy. That doesn't matter with some cats!
we dosed the post with liquid cat nip for a week
She was. We think it was due to her being orphaned at one week.
ahh,barn cat?
Oh, so she didn't grow up with any other cats?
must go and serve s
must go and serve dinner to the troops
Morning / afternoon! May I please have the stats for the lower right N?
sorry!

No, just her. Bottle fed. Hubs got custody of her in his divorce from previous.
taials can be scary! lol
tails*
TY Molly and Ruby!
Yeah, so she didn't know there were other cats in the world I guess, if she'd never seen and met any?
Max, who is autistic, barks when he sees his reflection
Might explain why her shadow and tail freaked her out? But surely, she would wash herself, including her tail?
but, fortunately, he loves his sister (and me)
That was another reason we figured she hated herself. Wouldn't groom. Her tail was a huge mess.
An autistic dog? How would you know the dog has autism, since they don't talk?
he had all the symptoms. I diagnosed it, using Temple Grandin's book. And he takes Prozac and is much improved
Oh really, Bea? Maybe she just didn't know what her body was, having no socialization with other cats?
the vets here never heard of it, but our chows are deeply inbred
But, since she didn't have a momma, no one taught her how to groom.
Oh interesting, ruby.
That too, Bea.
he went from hiding and always averting his eyes to being a member of the family
I guess cats do learn a lot from their mother and littermates. I just figured grooming, etc. was instinct but maybe not?
my MD gave me a scrip for it
Wow, ruby. I've never heard of that before.
and the vet wrote down what I was giving him
neither had anybody, but it was a very distinctive set of behaviors
he is a black chow (pictured here) and is terribly inbred
Yes, I noticed the photo.
but very gentle and beautiful
we had another black chow, from the same kennel, and she died of a heart problem at age two
That's sad.
it was heartbreaking as she was a lovely little dog. Max is now almost 8 and Ruby is almost 9, so they are both doing OK
Oh, you have two dogs?
sadly, chows don't live to be old
since we lost the first black one, we always have two.
Ruby and Max
when we moved here, we had Rufus, an old gentleman.....
I see.
*poof*
Afternoon, peeps. Hey, there's a meteor shower in the grid today!
so there is!
not a word, though...
x
I know, sue. But I think I should get credit for finding it any way.
Hi, Inge!
howdy inge:))
Hiya, Crossy.
I think stanky should be a word
howdy judi
crossy likes happy bunny:)
lol, ruru!
Thanks, Crossy. I'm a huge Happy Bunny fan. My car window sticker says "Hi, Dorkwad."
*credit given to Judi*
lol,i have one that says"your too close,i can smell your breath"
I ate at the French Restaurant.. and they brought out stanky cheese
Hello...
Hi, Jellen!
howdy jellen:))
hi jellen
anyway I have to get some more lectures written. Properties of stars! Stellar atmospheres! Stellar interiors! Here I come!
morn
oops
Thanks, crossy!
thx, crossy, a nice parting gift :-)
Well, the Leonids should be very helpful to you then, sue.
need to get some goodies in the pb anyways
Bye, sue!
Ruru, I don't think you were in the chat last night when I was reporting on the shoes...
not much to do with stars, Judi, and I am basically skipping the solar system and planets as the geology department has a course on them (which most of my students are also taking). So it's nuclear reactions and galaxy formation for me.
I would like to know how in the hell I'm supposed to find 16 i words. GRRRRR>
yes?????
how'd it go?
Ah. Super novas and big bangs. So much more exciting than meteor showers.
I think they worked their magic...looks like we'll be going out again this coming week!
today it is lunch in the pb.my own pan fried sea bass, done in butter and sprinkled with fresh black cracked pepper, lemon squeezings and secret herbs and spices, sweet tater frittes, done all crispy in just a tbs of virgin olive oil and a simple salad
Or is that "novae"?
fantastic jellen..did you like him.. is he nice?
Oooh. A date report. Spill all that details, Jellen!
He is very nice. I like him a lot!
Champagne super novas Judi. : )
buy more shoes
lol, Molly! Love that song.
sigh..once they get going on shoes,my lunch goes cold:((
lol
Well, I met him on POF, the same site where I met Tim. His name is Danny, he lives about 2 hours from me, in Missouri.
Oooohhhhh...Ruru is a shoe guy. I spent a LOT of money on shoes because of my husband.
Yes, yes. Go on.
Clue for ca6/21 before the ca7
He mentioned that he liked women in jeans and heels. So I ordered some, and they arrived the day of the date. Mind you, I haven't worn heels since college....
well molly sort of , but I don't have a foot fetish like Rex Ryan
Boo - ca6: an explosive weapon.
this is getting juicy jellen
Haha, ruru!
legs!1 show mw the legs!..leer....
What did you do on your date, Jellen? As in, where did you go, etc.
Ewww...Rex Ryan...creepy, icky.
as opposed to the more prurient 'what did you do on your date" meaning?
:D
hey D
Anyway, he was in the Joplin area for work Thursday. I picked him up outside his motel, drove into Joplin for dinner and conversation, then drove him back to his motel...
ruru could never be creepy icky.
And....
*my pal doren*
lol@ judi digging for every scrap of date info:))
We sat outside talking for another 15 minutes or so, then he went into the motel lobby...
a nice start jellen.. that's fantastic
i have resurfaced ad am back among the living... was dead on my feet (or on my arse) every evening this week. getting back to work was fun, but exhausting.. particularly with our new bully law... mucho worko!! stayed till nearly 7 the other nite
You're killing me with the dot-dot-dots, Jellen.
two hours isn't a far drive for him
(wondering did they get beyond the motel lobby)
Doren!!!!!!!
As he was leaving the car, I blurted something like, "What, no good-bye kiss?" And he replied that he never kissed on the first date.
The end!
good first date
LOL
(particularly since I happen to know he called the next night)
Very good first date!
Hmmm. Okay. Sounds like it went well. At le5 he knows you would like to kiss him. I think that's called a "flirt blurt".
nice story, Jellen -
hi everybody
I would have done a good bye kiss.. but that is just me
hi jbv
We've talked several times every day since then...
***smooches for ruru *****
doren, I'm curious about the bully law - I can't imagine it's anything more than what you have been doing all along - what's different?
Hi, JBV
(think I got a good bye kiss from ru, didn't I?)
a nice old fashioned back of the hand kiss always leaves the ladies wondering and hoping for another date
hello all - all back from the wilds of wales where i couldnt get an internet connection but had a fabby time
yes you did and a big hug too
Hi, Kazzer
I had to be careful though Doren...
Gotta go get my hair blondified. See you kids, later. *POOF*
Bye, Judi
I didn't want your daughter to whack me with her purse..lol
Hi kazz, welcome back
oh my goodness j, it is a lot of paperwork and since it's new, it is taking us a lot of time to figure out ... so many grey areas and we try to do things right. And of course I'm in the midst of three investigations already .. we have threats from the parents of one kid (who says we are "after" him -- and these things are blowing up to get bigger
My daughter is also a big ru fan now
i am glad to be back in a way - holiday was lovely but you have to home to appreciate it
:D
kaz, i also feel the opposite sometimes.. holidays are lovely but nice to be home
I am also now officially retired on Fridays which have been given the unfortunate name of retard days by my lovely hub
what a nice way to ease iinto retirement... i would love to try four day weeks myself
i do 4 days weeks,it is great!
they have also be christened long walk days as last friday we walked 11 miles and yesterday we walked 14.5
I'm sure everyone would be much more productive on the 4 days - it would be great
also my hours are reduced on the 4 i do work - only 7 hours which will take some getting used to and organising my day as best i can
unfortunately the kids will still be in school on fridays, so it wouldn't really work out too well for me
and good luck with your anti-bullying program, doren, I did not mean to downplay it, I know it's very important, and sadly, necessary
Clue for the last ca7
it's a plural boo
don't know if it is necessary the way they've framed it though... looks like a lot of time will be spent on superfluous stuff and detracting from other important duties. (and didn't feel you were downplaying it)
will be back later - must be off to hand out the bits of washing i couldnt get dry - the chalet we stay in has a dishwasher and a washing machine but no dryer so i have a bag full to get dry but only pjs to wash
oops hang
Oh, if you want to see the shoes on me, I just uploaded a pic to my profile. Also, there's a picture of Danny there.
oh good, I was wondering who was waiting for your handouts
back again. Hi Dorens, crossy, JBV, Kazzer and everbody else I've missed. (It was the cat box that needed emptying; and the laundry needed some work also)
howdy nef
It doesn't work Jbv
Hi, Nef!
boo, do you have the ca 6- Jewish religious figure
hi nef... and nice shoes, nice looking danny, jell
hi Nef
Thanks, Dorens :-)
No
well that's it then!
Um, what are oo 4/4, does anyone know?
I think the whole process of getting new clothes and going out is wonderful for you jellen..it sounds like just what you need to do
Got the word, just curious what it means...
anagram of soot
a frequent Babblet, Jellen (Hi to you too!)
what is POF though?
I think so too, ruru. And I'm making other changes in my life, too...
Plentyoffish.com, an online dating site
all good jellen..
oh..
these dating sites are really working for some of my friends
I'm auditing an online class this semester, and I start teaching English composition at the local junior college this spring...
LOTS going on in your life, Jellen! Good for you! :-)
And I'm looking into going back to school for another master's degree, or maybe even a PhD...
wow.
The teaching is only part-time, which is good enough for me!
doren is that bullying law just NJ or is it a federal one now?
NJ, ruru, as a result of that horrible rutgers case, I think
yeah jellen you can ease back into it that way
oh yeah.. they are working on one out here in Cal I think too
I can tell you honestly that most teachers I knew were very much aware of and acted immediately against students teasing each other based on race, color, even size or handicaps, however, very honestly, I think anti-gay discrimination was not given the same attention or value
and it starts very early even in elementary school
I think a lot of schools look the other way regarding gay student harassment.. it's sad and scary at the same time
to be fair, some teachers are at a loss - so programs like this with training and materials are not a bad idea,
on the other hand, I even knew some whose religious views got in the way of their being open-minded, they voiced opinions like "if you encourage tolerance of homosexuality you are actually promoting it" as if you could sell a sexual orientation,
did we lose doren?
when I hear that from Someone.. I want to just smack them upside the head
it's a very touchy subject, but I'm all for bringing discussions like this out into the open with students and teachers, and let's not forget parents, whose views definitely influence the kids
it's hard to have "open" discussions with religious bigots however
true
brb
i'm back. sorry. get lost sometimes.
hi doren, we were having a very deep discussion, here, then ruru left and I'm on my way out too
have fun with the grid - see you later
we have always had a hard line on bullying when we hear of it, the hard thing is that often kids won't tell (for fear of reprisal) and teachers are so often not aware. most of our sophisticated kids don't do it IN class
okeydoke. enjoy the day j
I'm back
I had to take breakfast to mrs ru
the funny most intolerant religious bigots are folks like my mom, who is intolerantly atheists
yeah I can bet kids are smart about it
oh don't tell me... that lady is SO lucky
*zips lips*
ru you watching much of the US open?
Jbv seems pretty knowledgable on the subject
Seriously Dorens, she gets breakfast brought to her even when he's injured.
i watched a game last week where novak had a real hard time in the first set... this young ukrainian god was killing him.
bullying has always been a major part of schools, the new problem however is the social media.... texting and facebook are brutal, cause it's so much easier to be bold when the target isn't right there
that's the thing about champions like Novak and Nadal.. they can get roughed up .. but their will to win will always crush the lesser players
yeah the facebook bullying is horrible.. I've read a lot about that stuff. that's why I don't support and do facebook
yup, i think their experience gives them a bit more in staying power... the other guy (can't remember his name but he had an awesome serve and was a marvel for quite a while) did fizzle a bit
i just think parents should be a lot more responsible, in many areas, but what difference does iti make what I think.. parents don't need licenses, don't take exams, and don't get graded
so I have to deal with the results. I honestly think more than half of the kids i deal with would be okay if their parents did their job. (Oh, did I just actually SAY that?)
Yes, and I'm glad you did. There are far too many parents NOT doing their job.
no one seems to want to do anything about it though (except scrabbler, you and me)
I totally agree with you on that Dorens. Then again; I think that peer pressure can usurp parental guidance and oversite
that is sooooo true doren.. there isn't enough done before people have kids
honestly, i'm glad i'm not raising kids right now though.... it is much harder in today's society
I'm just trying to raise myself ..that's plenty.. don't know how you guys do it.
me too. It was hard enough when my kids were in HS (in the late 90's)
to change the subject. i am so bummed out. was having company for dinner and they have cancelled cause of the "terrorist threat" to NYC which will totally screw up traffic (they're coming from ny and bridges and tunnels are under heavy alerts)
ruru you're raised, you can begin to lower yourself now
ROFL
I can see why people would be afraid of that Dorens.
my wife's friend said she wouldn't go into the city to work in NY due to the security and threats
i can too actually. at first was a bit pissed off, but that was more selfish than anything else. now am realizing that i needed the day off anyway
treat yourself to a movie or something fun then Doren
shopping, straightening up and cooking would have made this grid harder, + i have one week's worth of newspapers to read + book etc. Needed a day ofo rest
I would think they'd want to get out of the City early
one couple lives down in the village... my cousin is a psychoanalyst who spent the first month or so treating traumatized folks from downtown. He walked down there that day.
thought it would be interesting talking with him this evening about his thoughts on the anniversary, etc. The father of one of my students died in world trade center, so our school always has feelings around this time
Iback to reporting bullying or worse, when I waS a teacher, I reported a male 6-th grade colleague who was haviing his students have lunch with him and sit on his lap! I got in trouble for reporting it to the principal
it was a memorable day here.. as I was in shock..
imagine how 9/11 was for me, a new yorker so far away. I haven't been able to go into Manhattan since then, even though I've been back a few times
It was a troubling day here as I live fairly close to The Pentagon.
All of this remembrance stuff in the media is overwhelming to me. I don't "need" to know (again) what happened, etc. I still have nightmares about that day and how the "no fly and no public transortation affected my work that night
I didn't even know aboutit, but Fr friends started telephoning me
Nef, I haven't watched any remembrance stuff and I don't intend to. I fly the flag and say some prayers as my way of remembering what happened.
the French have been having parades and marathons wearing American flag clothing to show their solidarity. It is very touching and surprising
my neice and her fiance were chefs at a restaraunt in the wtc- she was late for work that day and was six bloks away when it hit- he was early for work that day- she still cannot talk about it
wow.. how lucky for them
there are so many commercials about it here and the TV is on in the family r4/5 for most of the day here. (maybe it's the channels we have on? )
she survived- he did not
Oh SMom, that is so sad.
oh god
I'm so sorry to hear that sammys
that is so sad.
I did a lot of business with the NY Port Authority and knew many people up there, but, happily, never found any of their names in the lists of deceased
I Thought you meant he went in early and left
i expect that there are so many tragic stories connected with it that the ripple effect will go on for generations
I'm lighting a candle. Good night everybody
There is a very tasteless headline on Yahoo "The 9/11 Babies All Grown Up" that features a picture of Diane Sawyer and a bunch of kids who were babies who lost parents that day.
Good night Ruby
re 9/11,at the time it happened,i had cnn on non stop for over 2 weeks.i will not watch any aniversary specials.it is burned into my brain and i will never forget and say a prayer to all those lost and all who were involved that day
they were innocent, working, playing, laughing.then terror stuck.they died many of them not knowing what had happened.first responders climbed to their deaths knowing exactly what happened but hoping to save as many as they could.now they are lost lost to life ,love and dreams.families suffer we all suffer and the world will not forget new york this sept 11
that is all i will say on this
were you one one of the babies, Molly?
so many of our young people do not realise that this country is at war and right here in our own back yard- they seem to think that this was an isolated incident and cannot hapen again- those of us who lived through ww11 know better
dammmmmmmm... did i kill the chog?
still here for a few more min sammysmom:)
no sammys; I just didn't have anything to add...
sighs with a whole nerw understanding of the phrase " cry , the beloved country."
i did see the memorial they built..did anyone else
on tv i mean
not yet
I watched the "Rising" documentary on Discovery the other day, it's about the memorial and some about survivors and how they're getting along. Also about the transit station underneath the memorial park. Very interesting.
brb (laundry's calling me)
Was that the memorial at Shanksville?
Oh, sorry, I was talking about the one at Ground Zero, sorry if I spoke without knowing what was being discussed.
it was a 5 or 6 part Discovery documentary. not a lot of dwelling on the actual incident, which was nice for a change, more about how it's going for people there these days.
back. rbud, I guess I've seen the commercials about it but missed the series
I refuse to watch any of it. I've been to the site many times and am outraged that the first responders have been told to come a different day so that there will be room for the families of loved ones - AND ALL THE POLITICIANS. If I can vote against anyone who doesn't belong there, I will!
I agree Lynne. That is an insult to the first responders.
i understand lynnet-
I think I may be angry about the commercialization of the whole tragedy.
i have been distrustful of politicians since i was a child- had a relative who was a minor politician- and did not like of trust him- figured they were all like that- and have had no reason to change my mind over the last 65 years
yes, but if you watch the documentary (I think it'll be on again tomorrow, but not sure) you would see that there isn't much room in the memorial park yet, as it's being built on top of the roof of the transit station, which is only partly done. They want to let those in who actually have family listed on the memorial, and honor those who helped at a different time. they talk about there only being a 25 foot wide temporary ramp to the memorial, etc.
Personally I would prefer to keep my reactions to, and memories of, the whole incident private. Although there will be a service here at which two choruses that I sing with will perform.
the major part of the roof/park won't be done for a few more years, they just wanted to open this part for the "anniversary" - personally I vote to throw out all the media folks, AND the politicians. :)
:)
clue please for the no 8/45

From what school?
wow what a looker!
i may have to print that photo for a pin-up boy!
haha
Eastern Mennonite University
Very cool...sounds like an interesting program...
I choose there program in part because of the wonderful so many people from that program do and in part because of the spiritual underpining
His name is Danny, and he was a perfect gentleman during the date...
it is not just about stopping violence or settling a dispute it is about dealing with underlying injustice
oh too bad!. . .
;-)
It was kind of refreshing, actually...no self-defense techniques needed...
haha!
And we have tentative plans to go out again this coming week...
anyway i am taking 13 credit hours with lots of reading and i drive down to Harrisonburg once a week and stay at a place my sister has near there
Wow...I feel swamped with just 3 credit hours...
most of it is really interesting and the classmates are interesting people too
i have already turned one of them on to babble
<---hasn't used brain in quite a while
well i am a type A personality jell

isn't he a hunk peri?
Information Retrieval. it's through the library and info studies program at OU
Hello everyone, I hope to finish this
Hi, Peri...met Danny onine (POF.com)
I have been busy getting my stuff off of the basement floor which is quite wet from the storm
Hi, Annie!
oh that sounds interesting jell--that has changed so much from when i took that course in 1974
hi annie
he is cute Jellen
Jellen, Danny looks like a nice guy, glad you had a good time
yes my basement is wet but not flooded--but my son's basement is completely flooded
Exactly why I'm taking it, jmc. Felt the need to update my skills...
hi jmc, peri
Thanks! He seems to be a very good guy...
What mess Irene made for peri and jmc and son
i will be happy of some pointers while i am doing all the research i am scheduled to do
Not a potential Babbler, though... :-(
Not a potential Babbler, though... :-(
Huh...why did that repeat?

I would be happy to assist with research if I can...

Okay. Here's the question: "About 7-8 years ago I heard about a revolutionary technological breakthrough that is supposed to change the world. I don't know much about it, except it was being called "IT", which is not an acronym, AND it is not related to information technology."
thnx annie and molly -
Hi, teach!
oh that is that personal motorized devise--they have IT tours all around DC
hi wvt!
Called Segway.
Ohhh...the things that look like a hand truck and carry one person?
That's it, Vicuna!
And hi!
Never heard of them called IT. Segway yes.
(Hi! Not really here... just grabbing a few words on the way out the door. But I hope everyone's well!)
hi vic -- yes that is the one except now the police have them and they have 3 wheels instead of the 2 which defeated the purpose of the design
well IT was the inventor's name for them
Cool, jmc and vicuna! You all are brilliant!
The acronym for them is PT, personal transport.
there is a wealth of knowledge in babbleland
And Molly!
now you can go find some scientific american and newspaper articles about IT
and now i can go a read some of my homework
bbl
How do we get IT from Dean Kamen, who invented the Segway?
go read the wiki article--IT was its name before it was marketed
ae8 anyone?
my recollection is that he picked that name because it was IT!!! the next big thing since the internet
hi ru
by ru and all *poof*
Still here and still need the ae8,55, ruru?
hi again. ruru, ae4 and then it ends in astr****
yeah.. I can't find it .. tried all sorts of combos
ae + ast****** is the study of outer space.

And this means the study of the upper atmosphere.
thanks a lot
it was driving me nuts
You're welcome.

I kinda figured that. [ducks]
Hi, ruru and neil!

Afternoon everyone...
Hi, red!
Hi red.
I got a notice of that in my email, Jellen.
A notice that you had uploaded the photo, showing a thumbnail of it.
hi red! How are you doing?
nice pics, Jellen. But the pic *I* like best is your icon: There is a gal who is happy! :-)
Hi Red
He looks like a nice, pleasant guy.
Yes, Nef... isn't that a great photo of Jellen?
[especially now it's "unsquished"] ;)
yep! I really like it a lot!
Aww, thanks y'all! My good friend Billie took that photo...we had fun that day...
Yep, looks like you were having fun. :)
Unsquished thanks to neil, one might add...

How are you doing Red? Having a good weekend?
[I draw the line at squished bugs though.]
Hi to you too, Molly.
haha, neil!
Well, I just convincved AUnty it's time for a walk. Our goal today is we are going down the street 5 houses; she's on O2 and using a walker (that has a seat; and I'm walking without a cane (but do hold on to the walker in case it gets away from her. BBS
Later, Nef
Ok Nef.

You're ahead of me, mkg!

id 5/14 = turn of phrase
in5,10 -- like the vegetable that makes you cry.
Oh, Jellen clued the other one.
ni 5/10 = ni + negative prefix
And entered the one I didn't have...thanks!
So there's clues for both of those.
Ok, guess there was no need for me to clue!
Oh yes there was!
ty jellen what a weird word.
Ummm, no. You handled it all perfectly. ;)
what i mean is a word i havent heard of nor you.
Just as I was about to clue the other word I saw yours appear, so deleted what I was about to post.
neil there are many words in grids that none of us has heard of so those are the weird ones for me.
Um, yes. I didn't have the word you clued. So your effort was not wasted!
neil i still need the 4 i words for the i in right column
Well how should we know what words you have and haven't heard of, mkg? You know which ones you're stuck on if you've listed?
in4,4 is a common "babblet". in + 2 vowels.

Not so wonderful you didn't have to add a hint to my clue there. Guess I need to learn to clue better.
Thanks, neil!
bye, mkg
?
Oh, I was soaking up those clues right along with mkg...
I'm rather distracted today...
Oh, I see... thought you had those already.
Nope! I was also distracted last night...didn't get many words at all...
You're not on messenger?
Now I am!
Are you?
I want dominion to be in the grid...

Thanks, Chrissie...they only put two little blisters on my feet, lol...
well worth it
My date (the second picture) seemed to think so :-)
I hope he is the reason you look so happy
Actually, my friend took the picture before I met him...
But it was partially that photo which led us to meet online...
can I ask you to tell more without sounding nosey?
Sure!
What would you like to know?
how did you meet?
I met him on POF.com, a dating site...
oh, and now you've had a date?
I messaged him, and he responded. We chatted for a bit, then exchanged Yahoo IDs...Which led to phone calls and yes, a first date!
that's lovely, so happy for you
We shall see how it progresses. We're supposed to meet again this week sometime...
me too!
Thank you both!
<----- Not sure which I am more jealous of... the shoes or the guy!!
Hi everybody :-)
that ef7 is weird
hi Soodle
lol, hi soodle
Hi, Soodle
Hey, Chris, Lynn, Jell :-)
I got ambitious and ordered another pair of heels, too...They were on sale!
I have a wonky ankle, so heels were never possible to me...until I discovered wedges. Woo-hoo!
Notice they aren't stiletto heels!
I have also discovered the wonders of false eyelashes... absolutely brilliant!
temp or (semi) permanent?
Sticky-on, Lynn. A lá Michelle Obama. Absolutely terrific!
First time I tried them, I thought my eyelids weighed a ton, but a few flutters, and bobs your uncle!
do you put them on yourself?
hi again, all!
Joint effort between myself and my 19yr old daughter. If my eyesight was better, I could manage them myself, but putting on falsies wearing specs is a chore!
Hi Sue!
Hey Sue
hi Sue
Hi again, sue!
hi, soodle and neil!
and jellen and lynxxx!
Hi Neil. Sorry I didn't see you there :-)
we had a make up lady for my daughter's wedding and she used lashes at the edges of the eyes - felt really glamarous
good thing I am not dating any more - I have bad feet and so pretty much wear sneakers, and don't wear makeup :-)
Hi Soodlebum.
Oooh. I'd love a live-in make-up lady.
I can't imagine what I'd look like with lashes...
yes, me too
I think you have lashes, Jellen?
Well, not full, thick ones...
I have a prescription for Latisse somewhere...
Eyelash curler and mascara.
[yep, I actually know these things]
You use an eyelash curler and mascara, Neil? Never would have figured that!
Ya gotta have something there to work with first, though!
Did I say I use them, Bea? No.
But I know about them.
<----- Not a fan of eyelash curlers. Had a near miss once....
LOL!
LOL!
LOL!
LOL!
Hi, Bea!
I think I may have used eyelash curlers once, when I was a young teenager...
and hi, bea!
Well, I'm just full of giggles tonight.
Hello, jellen and sue.
brb
Laughter is good, Bea.
Finding this grid a bit tedious... :-(
grid? there's a grid?
No, Sue...there's no grid...only chat...
oh, whew. That's what I thought :-)
Theres a grid, theres eyelashes, theres stilettos, theres all human life here!
birkenstocks here, and I have my own unadorned eyelashes, but that's ok :-)
Sue, check the IM please?
Hi all..back again
I have my Birkenstocks, too..
Hi, Boo!
Hi Jellen
Hello Boo :-)
Hey Soodle
hi, boo!
gee, I am at exactly 2/3, which would be where I might consider listing - not sure I want to, though, maybe I will take a nap instead
Hi sue
no stay and chat a while uu
back for a while--got absolutely no reading done
Hello Jmc :-)
hi soodle did you have a good time while we celebrated your birthday in babbleland?!?!
*wanders off to pb*
(Using megaphone to contact JMC in PB....)JMC, I had a very memorable birthday. Thank you :-)
Clue for da6 please
it was memorable here too
glad you had as much fun
Oh? What did I miss, as I was blowing out gazillions of candles?
we were drinking and eating cake and dancing on tables
we wanted to do you proud
Woo-Hoo! No wonder I enjoyed myself so much, with such virtual support!
hi, jmc!
yep it got quite out of hand
hey uu you didn't go nap yet!
nope, I am still here
Hey all, sorry to interrupt, but can I get some help as to how to bulk grab my word list and placing it in Lickety's Bulk Add box? I used to do it all the time but now when I copy and paste I get a message from the webpage telling me that I need to remove blank lines from the beginning and/or end of my list (which I do, then renter my list and get the same response). Has anyone else run into this?
(and to think I had put it down to my false eyelashes...when it was really the Babblers egging me on... Sheesh)
hmm that hasn't happened to me but i haven't listed today--did this just happen today?
Soodle, I...for one...did my part to make your birthday a raucous good time here in Babbleland.
It's been happening since I started playing Babble again this year. It wasn't like that when I played years ago.
yep i can vouch for molly being raucous
have you tried reinstalling?
Molly... If you hadn't, I would have been offended! I knew I could rely on you. Ably abetted by JMC. I salute you both!
*curtsies*
Reinstalling...I know what reinstalling is but what would I reinstall? What do you mean?
Hi jmc. :)
And boatierra. :)
i am sure others joined in with us but i ...er..ahem...can't remember
Hi Boat...I just tried doing that but it worked OK. Are you using the newish Lickety address ....http://r46.me/babbleclues.html
hi neil
Hi everyone :)
reinstall the babble pro?
Hi jmc - just going but good to see you
hi lynxxx!
Hi, boa and jmc
hi jell
Bye, lynxxx
Bye all
btw boat i just saw an ad for chocolate air that gives you the taste without any calories
lynxxx - I use the link at the bottom of the game page, I'll try your link, Thx!
Cheerio Lynn :-)
I have a copy of BabbleExpert if you need it?
good to see you too lynxxx sorry i missed chatting but another time
I've never installed it myself... haven't found a need for it. A regular browser works fine.
Good evening Babblers
http://r46.me/BabbleExpert20110410.zip is the link for expert
hi wht
Oh ok, that's even better. I didn't know the link.
i just use pro and not expert
it's a program that you have to install, boat, but once you do it's really nice
Good afternoon, wht.
Oh, there's something else caled Babble Pro?
the link is in my profile, if the chog scrolls off the screen
i don't know neil i am a bear with little brain today
jmc - um, ya, I'm thinking I don't know what you mean. I am a Babble Pro, I paid to be permanent player but I'm thinking you're talking about something else and my limited computer knowledge is not catching up.
Hi Wht :-)
Use a word from the grid in a sentence...I done le6/18 all ma smart stuff frem Perfessor Sue, cause she done edumacated me. : P
no i am probably just confusing the whole situation with the cottonstuffing in my head
That's a good idea, Sue. Maybe I'll do that too.
jmc - Thanks for trying :)
well, we are all pro as we have our pictures and flags; expert is a separate program that Lickety has written - if you download that link I gave, extract it (which your computer should do automatically) and then run it, it is like using Lickety's list but SOOO much better!!!
and grammar from crossy molly?
Aww, not feeling well, jmc?
Clue for da6 please
Oh dear, water all over my monitor.
no just spent a really long week and coming home to my 1/2 a house is kinda discouraging
lol, neil, jmc is almost as old as I am and, like me, is probably getting fuzzier and fuzzier every day :-)
better the monitor than the keyboard
hahaha THANKS ALOT uu
lynxxx are you still here?
Haha! What are friends for, huh?
I beg to differ. JMC is a bold and saucy woman with a razor sharp mind. (and wit)
i thought for SURE they would have poured the concrete so the building could start but the 6-10 inches of rain stopped that
boy, that's for sure, jmc! (about the keyboard) - I spilled a large cup of hot tea on my laptop a year or so ago and it took the touch pad MONTHS to recover
i like that description molly!
oh, so it's just me that's fuzzy, molly? :=)
i am thinking that my inaugural event in my new kitchen will be christmas dinner if i am lucky
yeah, rain and concrete pouring are pretty incompatible
no i said i was a bear of little brain today
jmc - I just saw your comment about the chocolate, sorry. Haven't seen that advert.
what's the estimate for the time to finish once the concrete is poured, jmc?
Oh, JMC - I forgot to ask... How is the house faring out?
Ok Sue, I've put that link in my bio too. Easier than sending a copy of the program via email.
Sorry Sue, well seasoned, bright women abound in this place. All inclusive. : )
go check out thinkgeek.com boat
that is the problem soodle what with a hurricane and then torrential rain things are not fairing well on the house
thinkgeek is so cool :-) if I win the lottery I am going to buy their entire catalog
in fact they don't seem to be fairing at all
i love thinkgeek i always get stuff from there for christmas gifts!
Oh I love thinkgeek.com! I follow them on FB :)
If you get any more rain, jmc it will be sea-faring
the caffeine soap was a big hit
My current icon I got from Snorg Tees :)
Thinkgeek is on FB? I'll have to check it out!
haha wht you have that right--molls was starting an ark the other day but i was still in harrisonburg
Caffeine soap?
haha, I missed your icon, boat, my chog still shows the old one
I guess it would make taking one's morning shower even more invigorating and eye-opening.
i just got thinkgeeks new catalog today and have already marked pages in it
yes you wake up in the shower for sure with it neil
have you not looked at thinkgeek, neil? They are very big on caffeine and bacon.
crossy would like it :-)
I love browsing through catalogs...
<----- Watching Fawlty Towers on TV. Have you guys across the Atlantic had the pleasure

yes fawlty towers is on public tv here
John Cleese is hilarious.
oh yes, fawlty towers is such a hoot!
i miss when we would get the nieman-marcus catalog right before christmas
uusue2 - Oh the one with the outlandish mustache and beard?
I remember that, jmc, do they not do that any more? (I thought I had just fallen off their mailing list because i am broke)
i don't know i never got one after i left texas
Can I get a clue for the singleton n in the lower right corner for nbt?
One of my all time FAVORITE items Think Geek has, is the Canned Unicorn Meat! Awesome :)
hard to see, boat, it is too little
<--- loving the thought of 'falling off mailing list because I'm broke'. By rights, I should receive absolutely NO junk mail now...
ni5/10 wht
yeah, there are charities that I haven't contributed to in 15 or 20 years that still send me address labels - I have enough address labels to wallpaper my entire house, I think
they are poorly run then uu--of course my boy is always complaining that half the mail that comes to this house is for people who have been dead for 10 years or more that were my clients
ty jmc
yw wht
oh, I still get the occasional piece of mail for the lady I bought my house from 23 years ago - she's been dead a good 10 yeasr
okay nbs so this time i am really going to go re** for one of my classes
*years
bbl
Maybe you could use the stacks of junk mail to fill in the holes in your house, jmc.
Soodle, you will be the darling of every charity and junk mail sender once you win your millions. Make sure The Soodle Castle has a big mailbox.
My parents have been divorced for 20+ yrs, my mom's changed address, changed last name, and still we get (junk) mail for her from charities.
Molly. I was asked how I would cope with 'begging letters' when I won the Lottery. I was gracious in my relply. I said I would continue to send them....
Clue for da6 please

Time I was in bed! Good night everybody, and to all my US friends, sincere condolences and support on this significant anniversary. Poof
And few letters.
oops... I am trying to add words to the list via add word box and for whatever reason..it chooses to enter into the chat box. Sorry for taking up space.
Bye, Soodle
night, soodle!
You're okay shoo...Nice to see you!
It's a Babble Expert defect Shoo. It happens to lots of people.
Thanx
Hi Shoo
I can make that kind of mistake without the help of Expert. :^)
LOL
ok, it's 6:30 here which must mean it's either dinner time or i've missed my nap
in either case I am off for a while, bbl!!
by uu
*Sincerely hopes Sue finds dinner, or a nap, but not both at the same time*
I see that Alex Rodriguez's nickname is in the grid today.
Yes..
Go yankees
<---Ignores anything to do with the Spankees
Sorry Boo.
That ok
This grid is nasty today
Here in Babbleland we have to be tolerant of religious differences, even when it has to do with the Yankees and Red Sox.
yeah it is, boo.
hey, yall
I was raised an Orioles fan, but my second love is The Red Sox
bah to both the yankees and the red sox i say.

Hi, dc!
Indeed Wht
howdy, jellen
I can't believe my monkeys came up with the ef7,40 on their first try.
I love it when that happens
It starts with the like the ef4 and the end comes quickly.
Oops. Did I kill the chog?
Got the ef7
Thanks, wht!
<enters and dusts off her chair> phew it hasnt disappeared
Sure got quiet in here..
Hi Groovy
I think everyone went to find the ef7
Groooovy! Haven't seen you here in ages!
Anyone have any clue of the middle N? I can't seem to get any for that one.
It is easy to find
*clues
yah its been forever and a day :)
just dusting off the keys and the words and the brain to see if i can remember how to play rofl
Rather the center N.
Boat...I have the grandma word
ni 4/5
Boa, one is a ni4,5. It is like a longish skirt, but change the first letter
There is an no4,5 that is like it.
And there is the Christmas word
So many clues, Thanks!! :)
Oh! Just did an N that finished the top N, didn't expect that.
Ah! Got one. Thank you Jellen :)
Still working on the grandma word, skirt word, and the Christmas word.
The grandma word and the Christmas word both start with no
I just got a no 4/5 that is - a difficult or intricate point, situation, plot, etc.
The Christmas word also could be used to describe this sequence: hijk*m
Alphabetical?
Hmmm...thinking about pizza for dinner...not on my diet, but so yummy!
Over my head? LOL
Think what letter is missing, boa
Think about what is not there, boat
I figured :)
Oh jeez, if it were a snake it wouldv'e bitten me!
I am always good for clues that are obvious once you know the word.
I kept looking at the right side of the puzzle, not the left. That'll teach me.
Think of it as the feast of the 7 fishes that Italians have on Christmas eve.
Thanks wht, Jellen & tabbycat :)
yw
Or oops, the other way around, my other right. Anyway, problem solved!
Clue for the ae8 please
study of air?
ae8,55: study of the upper atmosphere. Or ae + ast***** is the study of outer space.
Still not getting it ruru
ruuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu baby way long time no see - missed me? lol
OMMMM GGGGGGGG.. Kiwi!!!!!!!!!!!
ty neil. I was twisting around the wrong way.
HOw have you been?
evening.
You're very welcome, wht.
is this an easy grid?
featherbee! :)
Hi feather
I found it not too bad at all.
hiya neil! need a mental break.
have you been around or just popped in today?
So you won't have much trouble. ;)
dont have a heart attack now ru i am still alive and kicking lol
When are we Letterbloxing again?
i just came in.
Not now, because dinner is served soon.
hey weedie
lol, not sure. sometime, i promise, just not tonight!
@ 5:30 neil?
Feather, it is easier than some we have had this week but it is not what I would call an easy grid.
just popped in today. thought it was about time i got my tooshie back in my chair - considering its still here even tho highly dusty and full of cobwebs
I offered to help and was told to get out of the way and go sit down! Haha, I don't mind.
Huh, ruru?
Yes, of course... isn't that a normal time?
hi ruru...oh, hang on, i have a link for you!
you eat early
Eating around 6pm is kind of usual.
it is good to see you kiwi.. how have you been
heck, we eat 4:30-5 around here
We're not eating yet... dinner is being made. We're going out later.
wow.. we eat late
When you're going out for the evening then yes, you sometimes eat earlier. Although I don't call this exceptionally early.
we eat at 10
So I'm kicking back with a beer, while 2 gay guys make dinner... this is the life, haha!
[both very good cooks I might add]
well gee neil if you have servants..that's the way to go
ruru, check this out: http://tinyurl.com/winecellarofawesome
Tell me about it, ruru? Can't be too bad huh?
lol, nice neil
[I'm stil in L.A. visiting at my brother's... he and his b/f are making the dinner.]
I'm gonna go see if I can do something useful anyway. Feel bad just sitting here. Shout if you need clues, because I'll check this periodically.
k, go chop a carrot or something, lol
have fun neil
life has had its ups and downs - im doing great (tho getting over a flu bug and chest infection) but my eldest son Kieran (who is now 18) has had a lump in his brain diagnosed which is causing siezures so we are waiting for neurosurgeon to operate
oh holy cow kiwi.. have they diagnosed what the lump is?
oh no kiwi. i'll send prayers and healing energy.
are you still with that man?
its not cancerous. There is a big lump inside the brain which they think may have been there since birth but there is a smaller lump on top of the big lump which is rubbing against the skull which they think is causing the problems
oh thank god for that.
and yes still with the same man - will be four years on nov. still love him to bits and he is so good to kieran as well which helps majorly
it's still scary anyway.. but that's a piece of good news then
oh nice.. I hope it all goes well with your son
gosh I miss chatting with you late at night
awwww shucks ru i miss our evenings in too
KIWI!!!
and life still good with you? Hey LB Hugs!!! yeah im not a ghostie lol
hi dawg!
Oh dear, just re4 back, sending t's and p's and lots of love to you, Kiwi and Kiernan.
hi Feather! how's school? how're the boys?
school's on hold. we had major flooding, so the kids got sent home early the first day, and we've not been back yet. boys are good!
evening, all
kia ora java
hi Java! Feather, will you have to make up these days?
i have no idea. we were ordered on friday to close by the county executive, declared a disaster site or whatever the phrase is by the president, so one hopes we'll get a pass on it
hey i havent forgotten much lol half way in just over an hour lol
brb
kia ora to you Kiwi
go Kiwi!! I hope you get the pass, feather. It would be just like the superintendent to say no way and extend the school year.
the "natural" disasters are more and more unnatural...
Unfortunately, the unnatural are becoming more and more natural
well, the superintendent will have to if we use up the snowdays, not really her control. we can ask for special dispensation though, just not sure if it will happen
same difference. Scary.
I hope you have a strong union, natural disasters are way out of anyone's control.
Back for a bit. Got the table set.
hi Kap, hi Wht
Hello all!
hiya, Jellen!
Hi. jellen.
Hi again, Jellen!
it's all the schools in our county, and a lot in the next county over. some can't reopen yet, are looking for alternate locations.
hi jellen!
hi neil
I don't know how it is in NY, but here in Mass, they cannot extend the school year beyond June 30 because that is the end of the fiscal year.
I am gonna bail soon. Or is it bale. I never know.
we'll just have to wait and see. it's been mind boggling here.
bail
Depends if you are making hay or removing water, Kaplan. :^)
depends on whether you're getting out of jail or binding yourself up Kaplan
Like "here here" or "hear hear"
hear hear
Hear here.
Here, hear!
Beer here.
lol
are you saying that you're present or that you're attending?
Here! Here!
listen listen or place place
Beer here too.
as long as it's not bier here
chog is getting silly now, and i must depart. may be back later...
bere here?
good to see you again lbd hugs
aww, bye dawg. i need a touch of silly these days, for sure.
Sorry. I did that.
That's inevitable. The chog is full of silly people.
departing, not because of silliness. wish i could stay for the fun.
silly is as silly does...
(((KIWI)))
I think 9/11 should just be a whole day of silence. No videos. I thought I offended you by being silly.
feather, other than the lack of school, have you been affected by the floods?
No replay videos I mean.
Bye, lbd
Floods! D
Fires! Earthquakes! Hurricanes!
Silence is underrated. We could learn a lot from silence.
yeah. was just helping mom rebuild her driveway today. can't get anywhere in town still, roads still closed.
I need to go escape and read Jane Austen or something.
Silly people? Nah, gravitas ... sober and serious
That is tough.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5s0VYzm h96s many of these places, i drive by every day. i know where almost every picture is from, except for individual houses.
Clue for the sa8,45?
this world is a mess.
I have a friend who lives in Saranac Lake, Feather. How close is that to you? I emailed her and haven't heard back.
Saranac Lake is several hours north of us
Hi all.
i'm binghamton region.
sa8,45 -- compound word. Where a purchase might be made?
hi jac
Well, then, maybe she's just ignoring me. I get that sometimes
wht sa8/45 - a space where things are sold.
A purchase or a sa4,4.
Duh. Thanks jac
she's probably fine. the rain decided to hover over us for about 24 hours.
{{{{ Jac }}}} ltns
Ok, I should give up on cluing.
Good grief, Feather. That's a lot of rain...
see you tomorrow.
i forget the numbers now, but maybe 10-11 inches? don't take that as gospel, i may be under.
Hi feather. Having been following the flood stories from USA on FB, and hearing of the fires in Texas, I was somewhat surprised that our news here in UK didn't mention them.
67 left, time to list.
you see animals walking in pairs on the street feather?
Don't you mean swimming along the street, ru?
LOL ruru
just about ruru. although i did see a cute picture of a rescued groundhog.
Who would have thought that some of the worst damage from hurricanes and tropical storms would be to upstate NY and Vermont.
Lots about 9/11, which of course should be talked about, but nothing on current events in USA.
too bad some of that rain couldn't have diverted to Texas
10-11 inches is a lot .. rain or otherwise..lol
*snicker*
did you see my wine cellar of awesome, ruru?
Not touching that.
walking in pears would be interesting too
i did..I"ve seen that before. I'd hate to move wine in and out of there
Apparently, we in UK are to be hit by the remnants of category 1 hurricane Katia, that missed USA. It will hit tonight as a storm with 90mph winds and torrential rain. :-(((
oh ru you havent changed one little bit
oh dear jac!
batten down the hatches.
Do you know why women are bad judges of distance? They've been told all their lives that's 8 inches (holds thumb and forefinger apart)
hi BR
nope KIwi.. I still have the same twisted humor
*snicker back*
LOL java2.
Hello. feather ... glad you are safe despite the weather.
Hi kiwi!
I can't find the re 6 .. HelP?
ruru - there's no rhyme nor re6 to why you can't find it.
Give me one good re**** why I should give you that clue, ruru?
we've had one single report of a fatality recently, but other than that people are ok. lots of property loss, but you can get property back. not lives.
It stands to re6/18
thank you BR
oh geez..
thanks neil
You're welcome ruru.
Clue for the second so6,18 please
You're right feather - things are replaceable
so - genre of poetry
A verse, rhyming with what a baby might wear on his or her head, wht.
going to head out for a while, distract myself from feeling helpless. night all!
Hello, Jac, java, and BR...think those are the recent arrivals. I got distracted by pizza...
'Night feather.x
Ooooohh - good thing to be distracted by
nite feather good to see you again :)
G'night, feather
And... dinner's ready. Later!
ty neil and RB. I will now sing the praises of fish in iambic pentameter.
sleep as well as pizza
But fireworks.
Hooray for wht!
g'night to those leaving!
i assume ae8 is a compound word?
and congrats why
howdy again everyone:)
*wht
Well done wht.
crossy xxxx
Hi crossy.
Hey, LA!
Hi crossy
Hi ((crossy))
LA, not it is not a compound word. It is the study of the atmosphere
LeslieAnn - ae8 is a scientific study.
te7?
Hello Jellen. How'are things?
Shirloc - you might have a te7/40 agreement with your landlord.
Good, Jac! And how are things with you?
thx jellen
oops, that was thx jac
Jellen - not brilliant due to redundancies in family, but we're all happy and healthy, which is the main thing.
y/w Shirlock.
Could have done without the sewer blockage yesterday morning! Beloved sorted it out. But, as he said, 'What a sh*t start to the day!' LOL
Ewww...been there before!
Well, I have things to yet. Have a good evening Babblers.
Beloved had 3 showers yesterday - one before the sewer blockage, one after we'd discovered it and he'd sorted it out and another one when the heavens opened as we left ASDA with a full trolley(cart) of shopping .
Goonight, wht.
He wished he'd parked nearer the store after that!
Bye, wht
Does anyone still need clues? I'm here for a whole longer.
ef7?
how about a clue for the Ys?
both are yu4 java one is a plant the other is an awful word lol
I've got yu4/8
hi all, just here for a few
Doh!
LeslieAnn - ef7 is an archaic old English word. Means 'before long'. ef* (baby newt) + 'see you ****!' (What you say when leaving a friend's house.)
both are yu4 java one is a plant the other is an awful word lol
there is a yu4/12, a word you say when you see something disgusting
thx kiwi - fish!
that's a new one for me. thanks jac
good clue jacula, thanx
LeslieAnn - I think it's that particular word's first outing on Babble.
hey gwen ltns
weird one...
LeslieA - have you done another talk yet? Last year's was great.
a talk?
hi kiwi and y'alls
Oh, I think I've got the wrong Babbler, LesleA.
maybe. :) i talk a lot, but don't necessarily GIVE talks. :)
cy6?
I know you had the wonderful wedding pics. Another Babbler gave a funny talk for a speeches thing. Got you mixed up.
Jellen, are you still here?
Shirlock - cy6 is a botanitcal word. cy + consonant + robot ending.
and that's it, saying bye bye now
*botanical, I meant.
'Night Gwen. See you again.
thx again jac
y/w Shirlock.
OK, more than 1/2 in each tile and stat. Time for bed with 66 left; night all
Ah, I've found the link to the speech -
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kr5fhmp _xP0
Oh, Jellen's here now!
'Night java.
Wandered off to email...
Here's the tinyurl - http://tinyurl.com/3yykl5g
jellen, if you see jmc before i do, please tell her I'm fine. she was worried about our fires, and I keep missing her!
Champ - don't know you, but I'm glad you're okay.
Okay, I will do so! Glad you're okay!
Today is the first day the smoke wasn't visible. Hopeful!
Sent her a message on FB, Champ.
This reminds me of Australia earlier this year; floods in one part, fires in another.
Don't forget the earthquakes and tornados!
We aren't FB friends Jellen. I'll try though. Thanks! jacula, I know what you mean...it's all crazy!
I don't know if 'natural events' are getting more frequent around the world or if we are all more aware of events due to all being more in touch due to the internet.
morning all :)
Oh, I sent her a message on your behalf!
Thank you!!1
Hi, mrp!
Hi MrP. How's life at present?
weve had too many earthquakes to fathom lately i just keep thinking whats going to be is going to be and you cant get out of it whether it happens this year or next someday there isnt going to be anything left so live life to the fullest :)
MRP xxxxxxxx
fireless and floodless... unlike other parts of the world

Okay, I was going to add you...Which service do you prefer?
oh the Prick and Dick and Mole have done more to me in the recent weeks, and have forced my hand with my lawyers.
i am on skype chat and on FB chat
Check my profile for the latest two pics... :-)
Skype, I can do! I'm jellen311
and my knee is recovering well, but the tibia is bloody hurting and bruising badly. I find out more on that on the 20th Sept
jac i havent been able to get the game to load for a couple of hours now grrr
ok, i am mrpresident1968
and no, I am 33 this month, + 10 years experience
MrP - hope your lawyer grinds the Prick the Dick and the Mole to dust and that your leg bones start to behave themselves.x
i play word with friends! as below name
MrP - you are one year older than my Beloved, depending on what month you were born. (He's Jan 69)
(((MRP)))
crossy!!! **hugs**!!
yeah wwf is working now and i played me turn
I am Sept 68
I got Skype about a year or so ago, can't find it on my computer now and can't remember what my name was. May have to start again if my daughter decides to stay 'abroad'.
no8?
no wonder you are so hawt mrp,you are just a young thing:))))
jac, go to start in the bottom left of puter and in 'search programs and files' just type in skype
I'm sure this must've been said earlier, but did you all notice that NB is in the grid?
Shirlock - no8 - not ethical.
not + ethical
oh crossy! **blush**!!
Yes, Champ...
ooo, that's just evil
what is in the grid???
Kind of nice, isn't it?
MrP - did that search thing. Couldn't find it.
you may not have it ... did you delete it perhaps??
easy enough to add skype and create your user name
is a great way to chat and I chat by way of typing heaps there
MrP - no idea what my son does when he decides to do a zap! Wouldn't mind, but it was him that installed it in the first place.
i have skype but hardly ever used it until now since i got the lappy with the built in mike and cam
MrP - NB - I assume it's a clue for na5.16 - girl's name. Referring to a 'boy' who once posted here.
hello everyone -- back to finish I hope!
kiwi, i use it to chat via keyboard... and sometimes use it to chat to dad face to face
na5.16 = Mrs. Reagan.
Hi cybernan.
oh I remember!
Hi, nan
oh well mine is grooviestkiwi if anyone wants to add me to their skype :0
girls, i have to go... going to take DH out for father's day lunch *one week late*... but it is a great venue... i posted on FB. Will come back with photos!
I will ask you all for your names when I either find Skype or re-install it.
add me kiwi,
i have to go! ***hugs and kisses*** all round
See you again, MrP.
Bye, mrp!
hugs mrp xxx your added
Made my move in our game Kiwi!
lol u just want to win quicker lol
Can't understand why I'm still awake at 2.47am on a Sunday morning when I spent all of last night in a state of cat-napping between hot flushes/flashes. I assume the threat of a major storm (fear of flooding) has got my adrenalin levels flowing too high for sleep.
Kiwi - YEA! LOL
a clue for the im 5/12, please?
Oh, and the fact that the predicted 90mph winds accompanying the storm will probably take the felt off the animal shed roof and blow most of our fences down.
im+go in4 the door but without the T
sounds like its time to batten down the hatches jac
Good clue, Kiwi!
Thanks, kiwi
and the im5/14 is the same but with a different constanant for the 4th letter
Kiwi - we seem to be having to batten down a lot in recent times.:-(
ty kiwi
here about 3 weeks ago we had snow at sea level at my house. its NEVER ever snowed here before in my lifetime and it was quick heavy and thick too
Kiwi - there's a change going on on this planet. I'm beginning to wonder if there is actually anywhere 'safe' to live on earth, or whether I should hope for a major lottery win so I can buy another planet that will support life. :-/
these in's are impossible!
im not one for the kay sera sera stuff but lately im thinking no matter where i live im going to end up dying one day so if is going to be by natural causes or a natural disaster so be it
in + way to get in the house, nan
which ones you need help with nan?
cybernan - you can make an in6/21 on those words if you go in4/4 your house and in6/21 some spells to see them If you're in7/32 it's easier to tap your in6/18 powers of magic.
the first pair please?
in6/21 to "speak" a spell
and then plural
tyvm -- didn't see that -- working from the wrong i!
in 6/18?
sounds like a prisoner
ok my last one is te7?
latent talent, cyber.
or an oject
you sign a te7 agreement with landlord
LeslieAnn - te7 - you may have a te7 agreement with your landlord.
hmm ok. must be spelling it wrong
ty again
LA - it ends with the sometimes vowel. Hope that heps!
oh i was. yay fireworks!
place to stay plus past tense of eat
Well done LA!
woohoo wtg leslie ^5
kiwi.. hasn't lost her touch
awww tyk ruru im remembering as much as ive forgotten lol
and im down to 50 but have gone onto the list lol
EEH, I remember the days when there was no list! LOL
ehhh showing your age jac phhht
Speaking of lists and all the bells and whistles Dr_God promised - did he decide not to go ahead with the new Babble?
may i have a clue for my last 7 the mo7 please
mo7 is like a state of Western USA but with a different vowel anding for last letter.
like a giant hill
tyk jac got it
with a vowell ending
It actually describes something that grows in mountainous regions.
Kiwi - y/w.
ruru - is that pic on your profile actually a photo of you?
It's so weird Kiwi.. I was just thinking about you the other day with mr p.. asking if anyone had seen you
Late hooray for LA!
you can always find me on facebook if you so desire or if your even using it yet - i remember you werent last time we talked lol
Hi again Jellen.
no jac.. it's weird hairdo Icon day
I'm better looking than that
I am really modest too
Oh, is it? I really should try to keep up with the themes.
LOL, ruru.
Well, I'm afraid you've all just got me as I am for my icon pic at the moment.
Hello all briefly -- dinner's almost ready
Hi, jilli!
hey jilli hugs
that's fine with us jac
love that hairdo, ruru!
you have a nice face
how about that one jilli
Hi jilli.
im just thinking how much i wanna tackle that face with a razor lol
rur - thank you.
lol kiwi
last so 6, please?
kiwi - ruru's face or mine???
rurus lol
an ode nan
Jeeze - I know women my age get hair where they don't want hair but I didn't think mine was that bad!
poets write so6
an ode to a shaver more like it
ty -- don't see it, but got it!
LOL - that blog got all crazy again. Love it!
Ode to a shaver... oh sharpened blade that cuts my beard..I'm speaking to my razor .. I find that weird..
cyber - sometimes I just snse words but don't see them in the grid but up they pop on my list.
{applause applasue}
LOL ruru.
*bows lowly*
Don't bow too low - you don't want to fall over and have to be picked up again.
ru have you set yourself up on facebook yet??
*reaches for ice pack*
*!* ta da *!* - off to make a late supper :)
no kiwi.. I don't facebook
wtg nan ^5
Hooray for nan!
yeah nan
Oh dear! Did you whack your nose when you fell, ruru?
wow so proud of you for not givving in yet lol
Well done cybernan.
I am going to be the last human on earth to join facebook
If I didn't 'do' Facebook, I'd have been much more in the dark and much more worried about what was happening to my daughter on her world travels. I'm not allowed to comment, but I can send her messages and see her photos.
brb...wandering off again...
if i didnt have facebook i wouldnt have been able to keep up with everyone from here who i have as friends when im not on here lol
ruru - but when you finally click the 'join' button, how can you be sure you're the last?
I know it works for many people.. but it is not for me
Because I'll be dead jac..lol
so what do you "do" instead then lol
You're probably very wise, ruru. I've heard it's not so easy to leave FB as it is to join.
I get several hundred emails a day.. adding more to that would drive me batty
a short drive....however
*Has image of ruru clicking 'join' button just before his coffin glides off to the incinerator.*
ruru - you need to get a spam sorter and batter-offer thing for your email.
well if that happens I'd have urned it I guess.
"duh" ruru
Terrible joke, ruru, but it made me laugh.
that's just business emails jac.. not spam.
Heck, ruru. What a nightmare.
Evening all.\
Have to run.. hugs kiwi..love ya to pieces. bye jac.. have a nice night all
May I please have a clue for st5-12? Thanks
'Night ruru.
i can get that many a day when i have a project on at work but no project at moment so lucky if i get a couple a day
so nice to see you again ruru its been a pleasure xxx
st5 up and left the room like ruru just did lol
gap - st5.12 - didn't lie down. Or, to quote a poem, 'The boy st5 on the burning deck...'
Thanks so much, Jacula
y/w gap.
actor cliff robertson died.
not sure who he was lbd
how old was he lbd?
Aw, lbdawger. I liked him. Wasn't he married to Dina Merrill at one time?
He was 88 and played JFK in a film many years ago. I don't remember him.
88..awesome!
I loved him in Charly, an adaptation of Flowers for Algernon.
ok my last word - the no8 help please
without scruples, Kiwi
hrmmm not helping lol
duh got it
and thats fireworks for me
prefix for without + aesop fables of5 had a ***** to the story
whoooo hoooooo KIWI!!!
Well done Kiwi. (Made my next move, btw.)
nice to have been back this afternoon - its been a pleasure catching up with you all hugs and ill try to get back again soonish rather than laterish xxxx my love to all
Nice to see you back here, Kiwi. Be sure to return soon.x
bye, kiwi, hagd!
I've started to yawn at last. Hope that means the adrenalin has calmed down and sleep can soon come. Hope I'll be up in time to make a plum crumbe and cook it before I have to put the slow-roast beef joint in the oven. I only have one oven, unlike some lucky people who have cookers with 2, 3, 4 or 5 ovens.
Not mentioning any names, but why do my ex and his 2nd wife NEED a multi oven when neither of them cook??
For show! What an effing waste of money, and of a good cooker.
Burst of bitterness over now! It's safe to come out and chat, clue etc. LOL
Well, if no one needs any more clues, I'll go in about 10 mins.
just watching Sinatra at Carnegie Hall on Detroit PBS -- still in his fading years he was such a great talent -- not only a wonderful singer but a great actor. Just heard his "Send in the Clowns"...magnificent.
Hi, jilli!
Hi Jilli and Jellen
Hi Jellen and all
Hi, Bugsaw!
Oh, good to see yu, Bugs!
Terrific icon, bugs!
Jilli, if you'd like to the famed shoes, I put a pic in my profile :-)
Two of my sons were born on this day so I ignored the suggestion and honoured them
Aww, that's nice!
cool, Jellen -- they arrived in time? And how was the date?
The date was very nice...he was a perfect gentleman!
Bugs, there were also multiple Babbler birthdays this month so it was super-appropriate.
evening :)
His pic is also in my profile ;-)
So will there be a repat, Jell?
that is what I thot Jilli. I have had it up for a day or two
Hi, jes!
hey Jes
*repeat
Yes, we're supposed to get together this coming week!
oh great, Jellen!
I hope it goes well for you Jellen.
Thanks, me too!
has anyone heard from Nef this week?
We've had a romance on our street lately -- the lonely lady on the corner met a guy online, he came to visit and is a really good person. They're getting married!
She was here earlier...
she was on earlier today
Wow, jilli!
that is good news Jilli. I like good news
HI follks ... Jilli, that is lovely
Hi, origami
Just checking in while my dinner is cooling ...made a leek, chard and goat cheese fritatta and can't wait to dig into it
why is nonmind not a word? I experience that fairly regularly
sounds great origami. hi
Yum, origami!
halfway
She's the owner of the cat wot bit me. He spends almost every day on my deck and yowls to come in. It's hard not to let him! But this guy (whose first name is the same as my late hubby's) has been great with her three dogs who used to bark all the tiem, but he has taken them for walks in the woods and trained them to shut the f up -- the niehgbourhood is happy to welcome him!.
We'll see ... first time I made it. I'll update ya'll in a while
Sheesh! I neglected to type in felines!
so did I, jellen!
maybe he will pay attention to the cat too and he will stop tormenting all the neighbours (hope hope)
btw, I got over halfway last night -- had no time today so "goal achieved".
wd jilli!
I was busy chatting on the phone last night ;-D
with the DAte, Jellen?
Yes ma'am!
<--- beaming
<---beaming, too!
no, Bugs, they don't realise what a menace the cat is. He (the cat) has always been so firendly.
(forgive the ypos)
I am so glad you found happiness Jellen. I remember those days fondly
*typos, lol! (Sinatra is distracting me)
It's early days yet, Bugs...We've just had the one date...
And there is the problem of distance...he lives 2 hours away...
mutual interests, jellen?
Some...
Music, art, collectibles...
distance is tough, but can be worked around
yes but I remember the thrill of chatting on the phone and learning more about each other. I found my love at 49
sounds good...and non-shared interests?
Well, he calls himself a hillbilly, but I haven't seen much to prove it...
weird. ae4/4 says i already entered it, but is not appearing in my list.
hubby and I had shared enjoyments, and then others which filled gaps. He completed me.
He's into restoring his '57 Chevy, rides horses (which I'd love to try), farms...
refresh, jes
shared sense of humour, jellen?
I think so...he certainly makes me laugh...
sounds fabulous, jellen
Not sure he'd like some of the British comedies I like, though...
similar and separate interests have not been harmful to us Jellen. it helps us not loose ourselves in the other one
oh well, you can't have everything -- but who knows?
that worked. thanks
He doesn't spend much time on the computer, and well, you know me...
we sometimes watch different tvs because I like the British stuff and he likes bombs and shootings
you don't have to be identical
gee bugs that sounds familiar! hi all
exactly!
Hi hoot!
No, of course not...he's also a bit of a workaholic, but I don't mind that...
Hi, hoot!
hi hootowl
We finally set up second set so he can watch what he likes and so can I.
so when he's being a workaholic you can enjoy computering
But there is a lot of overlap too
Hmm...just hit the in's...
hi Jellen - good luck!
they are killers for me too
I still emphasise that thing about completing each other
in s are mostly familiar bablets
Yes, Tim and I did that, I think...
I don't like in, re, or c words
We seem too. 6 yrs on New years and no fights and he lets me yell when I'm frustrated
He's also very respectful when asking about Tim...
Would Tim have liked this fellow, Jellen?
Hmm...I expect so...
another plus
And I let him read without interrupting or yelling at him
in 6/27, please?
thats in - i wear ame size dress
a me
i wish
revert to moll - me**** size
Thanks, hoot!
in+ me
am I making sense?
oh ok yw
not much, hoot, but I got it -- tyvm
hehehehe

hi grannyrose
hey hoot, how's it hangin'?
as usual sweety has decide he is going to bed. Do you lnow how many times I missed the flip or the beginng of a movie because he picked the wrong time to go to bed!
trying to understand your clues. Is anyone willing to share. Ex: 4/7. ef7. Newbie to this. Found 107 words
Good for you dpml!
clues are usually requested by the first letter or 2 of the word, then the number of letters in the word, and the number of points it's worth.
dpm, ef are the first 2 letteres, the 4 means 4 letters, the 7 means the total point score for those letters
so ro4/4 means a 4 letter word starting with ro, worth 4 points.
the letters are the firet 2 of the word the first number is the length the seond the point value
if you click the link to Lickety's Babble Clues below the tile stats, there is a list of words alphabetically with first 2 letters, so you know what you're looking for.
and I'm going to shut up now!
re6/18, please?
jes - did you finish
LOL. poor dpm.....everyone with the same answer, hope it helped dpm
