had it a week or so, I think
holy smoke, dart -- I haven't even started.
hi dc dart grem... all I missed :)
But there are 24 hours to do this, so what's the hurry?
hi dee hi
good evening, jilli, dee, grem, dart, mlf, doxy, et al
hi dc
i cant be here for 24 hrs though..and not hurrying anyway
welcome, dc
is the IS word something we should know?
yes
dear dart, I was just talking to myself :-)
because I'm half asleep and still have kitchen cleanup to do
de8 x2
de8 also related to is7
ty grem
not often I get a 7 & 8 right away
to8 is how i was taught to spell that word. to7 looks wrong to me.
I prefer the non-doubled version
Hi jilli, Seain, everyone.
I use the double letter versions for words that emphasize that syllable
hi, neil
I agree, Seain... I thought so too.
I've only ever been taught to spell it the 8 way.
oh, I love to6/18 :-)
Bom dia todos :)
i was taught that the to7 was an incorrect variant :)
And don't think I've seen it in print the 7 way.
xx neazle
I've seen people 'misspell' it that way though.
Haha, jilli. :P
Hi boatierra! :)
hi all
Hi carleekat! :)
evening, carlee :)

hello everyone :)
hi neil...seain
hi cyber
hi cyber
stats for the G please?
hi, nan
I wish I knew through my Happy Hour fog what you guys are talking about re to 7 & 8
hi nan
gl 4/10
whether a certain consonant should be doubled
<---- carlee is in shock
to7,32 & to8,45
thanks
gl 5.14
And yes, what gremlinn just said.
[Happy 3½ Hour fog]
a pair of past tenses, jill
Both are the same word, spelled differently.
W stats, please?
With that consonant doubled in the 8.

Gonna get a tea. Be back shortly.
Ouch! A furry fish! Thanks!
i need one more for nbt
nbs in 9
natto is a food. hmph
HI - I found it and I think it shouldn't be doubled. Probably archaic and hasn't been done since Shakespere!
Stats for 2nd column O, please?
not knowing, what word you're referring to, some consonants are doubled in British English but not in American, viz traveller (Brit) and traveler (US). I'm bilingual, lol.
ol 4/4
the IS word is scientific ?
Sumtime you'll get the word, jilli...
But I've seen those - but not the one I'm talking about
no, mlf, it's lonely
jilli: as I was saying, my way of doing it (since someone talked me into it a few years ago) is to do the doubled consonant when that syllable is emphasized
when both spellings are actually words, that is
Thanks!
I guess combated vs. combatted would be an example, to not spoil the case at hand
OHHH wait i found it
and just found those to words -- a perfect example -- correct in both ways.
we were taught that not doubling a final consonant before adding a suffix was incorrect, and it would change the vowel to not double, as travelled vs traveled, for example.
nbt
ah, there's a better example - I would do "traveled" since the emphasis is on the first
Oh, nbt too...
but on the other hand, "compelled"
but in that case there's no choice, hmm
gj jellen me too
travelled vs travellèd as i was taught, with the latter only occurring to maintain poetic meter
any more than 2 de 7's?
how about ravel?
i only have one
Thanks, mlf...going to listen to a story now...Bye all!
I have de 7/44 and de 7/32 dc
I stubbornly cling to british spellings but adopt recent permission to split infinitives if I want to.
only have one as well
ravelled, ravelling
anyone have the stats for the 2nd column o?
nbt/nbs in 23
yes, dc
now I have 2, and it was my last D, so yeah, only 2
split infinitives are a prescriptivist myth
ol 4/4
have fun, jellen
wtg grem
found the other, ty dee
bye jellen
"ravelled" looks wrong - like it'd be ruh-VELLED
ty grem
nbt, nbs
oh, another one someone tried to correct me on was "judgement"
terrific, nan!
I'm not gonna budge and change it to "judgment"
judgment and judgement both correct. w/out the E is common in computer programming.
ahh, grem -- another controversy! I go for the Brit judgement
yay!
judgement
I go for British aluminium to pay you back
and how about programme? I gather even the Brits concede to program for computer stuff
Still trying to figure out the to 7 and 8.
i've a computer programmer friend who's been coding since the early 80s, used to get corrected in his English schools for using color, center, etc as a result of his programming LOL
programme
to7 = added up
i find the -me superflous but acceptable
does that sum it up boat?
and speciality? I do in Rome as the Romans do (sometimes, lol)
carlee -- you're canadian :-)
no, I use specialty only
Oh my what we've started!
i always read sceptic as 'septic' and takes me a few beats to remember that the brits us that instead of skeptic.
Then there's jewelry and jewellery...
Working on it :)
i thought speciality was archaic, even in Britain at this point.
I can't recall even seeing it in print
orthopedic and orthopaedic...
fetal and fo6
Specialty is North American. I just found out speciality is not only Brit but Australian.
good land, no? in a mash of Iberian languages, boa?
and hello and welcome, boa
I use specialty as a reference to one person, speciality is what makes that person special. Does that make sense?
ty grem, for the fo, lol!
dcseain - si and sim :)
fl 8, weird one
that's the last 8 for me
and a fl7 that looks somewhat similar
Fs done
I am back. Kind of.
oh yes, hoot -- in another sense. I was thinking in terms of dog show Specialty Shows for (eg Gt Danes) and the same kind whicha sre Specialilty Shows in the UK an Aus and maybe elsewhere in the former British Empire
ty grem found all the 8's!
and typos are typos in any language :-(
brb -- must finish kitchen cleanup and try to come to my senses
how many fl 7's do you have grem... I have fl 7 x 3 so far
BRB - need to go check on my dog.
have fun, jilli
Didn't know that - thanks for info jilli

There are 13 fl words in total.
Oh sorry, you meant 7s.
There are 3 of those, yes.
isn't tolt a horse-related word?
don't think so
maybe foreign - did a search and I see it with an accented "o"
never seen it
No, it's a writ in English law.
According to dictionary.com, anyway. But that site didn't prove too accurate the other night.
okeydokey
I am vindicated!
100 for tomorrow -- good night :)
night!
G'night nan
nite nan
Good night, nan... sleep well.
tolt is not in the world book encyclopedia
dcseain - read your bio "i think red food color tastes like ass.)" - Funny and true! There are some people in my fan group who are pretty sensitive to red and avoid it like the plague.
But lots of things are not in the world book enctclopedia!
Ok, I won't ask how you know what... no Seain, never mind. Just... never mind. :P
Grrr, red dye that is.
I like red the most with candies
Cherry, strawberry, watermelon, etc.
Your fan group, boatierra? Ummm, what fan group is that?
Fans of funny signs? ;)
If so... SIGN me up! Haha.
LOL! Hey that's a good idea :)
Sure... but you didn't answer my question? ;)
She will if she wants to - she doesn't take directions!
I'm getting to it. I'm a slow typer! Patience!
AZ Browncoats, we're fans of the TV show 'Firefly' and all over fans of Joss Whedon, hence the MAJOR geek aspect.
Wasn't aware I was giving directions... I merely asked a question.
Oh, I see! :)
hehe
No, you were'nt giving directions, I didn't take it that way :) But thank you for the defense gremlinn :)
just trying another sign pun
Geez. Defense was needed against me? :(
Flickr might need some soon... getting pretty angry with it. :P
[back to fighting with Flickr for a bit]
Oh! I get gremlinn. That took me like 12 beats to get :)
Yeah yeah, signs -- directions. But don't think anyone needs defending again me. Except maybe certain politicians... see bio. :P
So neil, why the 'negative'?
fireworks unaided
WOW, that was fast! Well done gremlinn :)
thanks
Still awake, still p*ssed off that an hour's wor just disappesaring into the internet ether, still can't bee bothered to say 'Hi!' but listening to Black Sabb's 'Iroon Man' in my headphones so don't care now. Congratulations toall grid finishers.*~*~*~*~*
I think the internet gremlin just got his own back on me when he posted what I carefully typed.
Let's see if AC/DC's Highway to Hell works any better for me...
OMG, Bachman is on Leno *in shock*
That's something American I don't fully understand - some person is apparently on the Jay Leno show.
I assume that's Michele Bachmann, a crazy conservative politician
Oh, I was just surprised to see Michelle Bachman on The Tonight Show. But she did OK. She is very, very, very conservative and The Tonight Show is not, 'cause its entertainment. But she did OK.
Haha, I have all of 13 words but have been doing cleanup and reading and writing emails. Hi jac
It wasn't sooo bad. But she did say she was 'convicted', when I think she probably meant to say she has 'conviction' in her beliefs. Easy mistake.
she should be convicted
Bachmann is a scary ignoramus
Oh, now Lady Antebellum are singing. I love watching their male lead singer. He's so very yummy :)
she'd be scarier if she had a brain!
flosie is in the grid tonight
roted
hoot: better steer her off the yellow brick road, then
Ya, I am no fan of Bachman. She has demonstrated time and again that she is willfully ignorant of so much and to me that makes her so very dangerous.
afternoon all :)
hey mrp
hi grem :)
you have no idea what I'd like to do to her and perry!
I'm watching/listening to "Turn, turn, turn" and all those lovely 60s songs on PBS..
hi mrp
hello mrp luv

LOL boat!
hi ruuster!
hi mr.p
hi boati :)
mrp, please eamail me and tell me more about your inlaws -- from Finland? The best dog judge I ever encountered was finnish.
hello mrp :)
Hello all :)
And try as I will, I can't avoid typos in my post-Happy three-and-a half-hour(s) tonight
I have such lovely neighbours here
The name is Finnish, my FIL is from Estonia, originally USSR, and family is spread around Finland area too. MIL is 15th Generation First Fleet Australian from England. My dad is Hungarian and you will meet him!!
And btw, mrp -- they all want to meet you and the kids when you come -- we'll adjust Happy Hour in your honour
sounds like you are in high spirits jilli...
Yes, ruru :-)
oh wonderful Jilli! Maddison is begging me to get on a plane now to meet you!
mrp, my best friend in early married days was Estonian -- long story -- had been captured in WW2 and subjected to forced labour in a tomato field -- couldn't stand the sight of them. Married a Canadian soldier after the war. Beautiful woman.
guessing pasta sauce isn't a good call for her
you have to write your story jilli! i would read your book!
hey all <3
First Fleet Australian -- wow!
hello Miss!
hi miss
:)
yep, THE First Fleet... Convict married Mariner.... and had 20 kids!
And how is your Hungarian dad doing -- did the stent work?
I guess he left before the big escape in the 50s?
will find out on wednesday... stent... i wrote stint, oops
he was a refugee from the war in 1956... has been knighted for it
Aussie pronuncianton of stent = stint -- although that's more NZ, isn't it?
he got shot and all! so many slaughtered.
yes, we say 'stint'
damn.. thought I saw fellatio in the grid
NZ would be 'stunt'
we could find you some ruuster
there is sex in there!
OK, he will be the third such 1956 escapee I will have met -- and the man who is in charge of of our ArtSpring theatre/concert hall/art gallery is one of them -- George Sipos. He is also a poet.
How about one who performs it, RuRu?
indeed liz!
wow..
blow me over.. I missed that one
*blows ruuster over*
Oh dear, I guess I should shuddupand pay attention to the grid, lol!
If we'll excuse the pun.
LOL
after the fl8 finishes, you might even get a ro4
cute little beasties, liz -- what are they and why?
Hamsters doing the hamster dance, Jilli. Why, just for the joy of being a dancing hamster I guess.
How happy, liz :-)
they are listening to rodent rap
they are listening to rodent rap
they are listening to rodent rap
yes, we heard you, ruru
it was hiccup time
jilli, if you see sprite before I do, can you request on my behalf 'craziest party photo' for 30th Sept?
i think as it coincides with grid word friday, some may be interested.
mrp -- just eamil it to her at email: bin _ there @ planet.nl (leave out spaces and put Babble in the subject line)
sprite and I seldom appear here at the same time -- diff parts of the world, y'know
sprite has been coming on about 5 hours after flip I think
nobody knows yet what grid word will be ther on Friday -- but it sounds like a fun theme
good to see both spellings for to7 and to8
yes, 5-8 hours after flip, sometimes again for a while 9h after
hi dcs! (hugs)
hello
i'll be off to sleep shortly.
oh wow. half price concealed firearms class. pity i have no money at the moment.
defs should be a word although sometimes there are none for words which Enable approves
concealed firearms class? forwhy?
training good, and i live in a very gun-friendly state.
I shall refrain from comment about the US and firearms. Except that there was a word there about militia.
glad they offer training... but wish it was free for you
i would prefer gun awareness of concealed firearms, just personally
well, we're not required to own firearms, nor how to use them. OTOH, we in Virginia have a constitutional right to overthrow our state government by force if it stops serving the common weal of the people.
we have awareness, and a series of court decisions about where concealed weapons may be legally carried, including schools and bars.
Oh mrp -- I see the blonde in your icon!!!!!!!!
one thing that PMO is that if I come to the USA, I can't carry a firearm in states that allow it. I would not feel safe in those states.
hahaha jilli! it is a classic pic that one!
the owners of the liquor licenses fought hard to make sure concealed as well as visible weapons were allowed, as esp in the rural areas, they depend on that to keep peace
You may not bring firearms into Canada. Period.
open carry is allowed in most states, but only reasonably common in parts of Texas, Virginia, and i think California, and likely Alaska
same here jilli... i like our laws
you have to have a friggin good reason to have firearms here, and you cannot conceal them or carry them.
i like the Swiss model -- everyone must have a gun, the gov't gives training to all, and property owners are authorized to shoot to kill trespassers within legal limits. Whole population is standing Army.
Btw, mrp -- I see our electric things are different -- yours are 220-240 volts, ours 110-120
that is correct, jilli, you'll need converters for electric things.
but hunters here may have guns. I shot a skeet with a 303 rifle, haha!
that makes sense, and i've never done skeet shooting, but i bet it's rather fun. I've always liked bows nd arrows over guns
And I have a photo to prove it was a rifle, not a shotgun.
I taught archery at a summer camp long ago. Never used it.
archery was the 1st thing i did MUCH better left handed
Have aphoto to prove that too, lol!
then came shooting, then throwing
left handed, dc?
i fence left handed too.
do you do anything right-handed, dc?
yes, i hold the bow in my right hand and the arrow with my left, else i have zero accuracy
my dad did everything right-handed except tennis!
i write Latin letters right-handed, scissors right-handed.
i chop with knives right-handed
but dc, you don't swing both ways, lol
i am a switch-batter in baseball/softball
and no, i do not :)
hehe
so, i should off to bed, as it's half past three
Could I get a clue for the i?
good night/day, and happy babbling, yall! is6, to make alone, boa
Thanks!
{poof}
Got it :)
is7/28 -- all alone
slow as usual :-(
Thanks jilli, the thought that counts :)
see ya dcs :)
ni ni hunny chile dc
I'm missing the two O words in the 4th row for nbt -- can anyone help please?
nm -- got one of them (of5/16)
What is 'nbt'?
And I only have/had one O, from the third row, ol 4/4.
oa 5/10 grain
no blank tiles?
hi dianne :)
Hi all
yes, nbt = no blank tiles, i.e. at least one word from each tile below the grid
Hi Dianne, - thanks, but that's not from the O in the second column, 4th row.
ol4/4 jilli
bull fighter?
hmmm, I have one ol4/4 (from the 5th column) and I see from Lickety that there's another...
is it a real word, dfm?
in a way, I guess? Common(ish) babblet of a so4
ol4 spanish shout
got it -- ye olde spanish yell, duh. Dodges fish.
Kinda like Dianne said, plural of what a bull figher would yell.
yes, gladys, lol!
I continue to maintain it needs an accent to be a word proper!
And finally, NBT!
yay jilli!
and nbs (no blanks stats, if anyone is wondering)
Starting the grid at ~0340h probably wasn't a bright idea...
bore da - morning all
dfm, you have 21+ hours to finish -- lots of time!
hi gloant
oops -- glant
Yay SA 49 Fiji 3 rugby world cup - less scary than the Wales Game
well, that's true, but the problem is more that I might possibly want to need to sleep some time...
Having achieved this goal, I hall now go to bed -- not a glimmer of finishing even within the 13 busy hours after the 8 of oblivion
me too, dfm, as shown below
nice, I guess, ursh :-)
And farewell all, wherever you are...*poof
I guess I should go too. g'night(day) all! :o)
Holy shnikies, just figured out an 8 all by myself. I love words but I'm a weak speller.

bore d to you glant! I haven't sdeen you for a while
The weather has been perfect until last night but today is very dark and gloomy and will probably rain
and good morning to whoever else is in here!
i haven't been around at the right time of day for a while
bit gloomy here too - think we may have windy showers
I thought sitz was a good word :(
morning rubes
i thought several words woere good ;-) but enable disagrees!
hello kalia! nice to see you
is this a spanish theme?
i only have the spanish O - are there other spanish words?
bull and plural
ah

and the custard desert
And the plural form of what a bullfighter would say in the bull ring.
Oh, I see you said you have that.
not quite sure about the custard dessert - what letter does it begin with?
f4
fl 4/7
and there may be more, but I don't know spanish lol
my fl4 is a dessert but we don;t use custard in ours here in the UK!
There's also an Italian ice cream ge 6/24 and 7/36
we are very continental today!
ty boat
yw
maybe it's not really custard. I just think of anything with eggs as custard....
that was a quick 50!
and ty from me too...several miles behind Glant this
and the Italian coffee with milk
morning
I don't think of fl 4/7 as a custard, I think of it as more ge***inous. I'm not a fan.
I think I like all white, yellow, eggy things; it's amzaing I don't weight 300 lbs
even tapioca
we used to call that frog spawn when i was a kid
I'm a chocoholic :)
my husband says you'd have to hold a gun to his head to eat it and then you'd probably have to shoot him anyway
i can take or leave chocolate
luckily, I don't like chocolate
have to go. nice to see you! *poof*
bye ruby
See, not caring for chocolate is WEIRD to me. Like somehow y'all were deprived of something in your childhoods ;)
Bye ruby :)
Having tasted several types of US chocolate I could never eat yours. Some European chocolates are OK.
US chocolate is too sweet and waxy for me
A friend of mine in Ireland brings Cadbury bars whenever he visit the US. They are too strong for me. Being raised on Hershey's. I can understand how you'd have the oppisite reaction :)
BRB
Sorry about that. Dog was chomping at the bit to be let out.
There are some Amer. chocolates that I do not care for. I lover Hershey, Ghirardelli, and Godiva but I can not stand Dove. Blech.
just realised there are 25 TOs... ugh
i tried godiva but wasn't keen
I love, NOT lover, gah!
i like the really dark chocolate
Supposed to be the darker the better for you and I'm more of a milk chocolate fan.
25 to's? I have seven. Ugh indeed.
back for a couple of minutes
boat, I was raised in an American candy store until I was 12, had all the ice cream and candy I could eat. All I liked, vis-a-vis chocolate was Milky Way and Three Musketeers
As far as candybars go I like Snickers or Kit-Kat. That must've been something growing up in a candy store. Very colorful.
I was very lucky, got to scrape out the big barrels of ice cream
but I worked there, too, from the time I was 7
delft
whoops
sorry
I already had that one and I'm sure other probably won't mind ;)
I tried putting in expert, but couldn't do it. I know that prevents that perticular mistake....
I've seen other mention Babble Expert. Was is it?
What is it, not was. Grr.
it's a program that keeps you from dong what I did, typing in the wrong place. But I am not computer adept, so couldn't make it work
lots of words ending with ow. very nice! lunch now, see you later
Laters :)
happy birthday to FM! And hello all.
hello sprite! are you still here? I haven't seen FM in ages!
hey rubyfoo :)
she is around, but usually later in the day
I haven't seen her in months. How are you, sweetie?
if you see her, please tell her "hello"
mwah. Sort of in the middle, very tired from lack of sleep, but not too down.
good morning, nice grid.
hello Kaplan
hello kaplan!

I have a collection, not broken yet, from about 15 countries
there's an fe8 (naughty)
ok thanks, that is my missing one then
got it
I guess the general form of that is a phantom!
the fe7 verb form works though
morning all
we've found it dan, raofl
yeah, the i is missing. But the verb works.
hi dan
but I think the theme is spanish
and the noun
well I am de8 then
I think it's universal.
you mean they do it all over the universe?

if you can't find a good fe8 you might be de8 >:-)
"je suis quiche en . . .. " -- I'm no good at -- love it!
aaah, ty dan

*smacks the baby monkeys with the bananas*
who's a quiche?
who you calling a quiche?
"je suis quiche en cuisine" == I'm no good at cooking
:-D
that's a funny expression
BBL. coffee time.
had you heard that, ruby?
nap time for me, see you later
never heard that one. Gauche, yes, but not quiche
my daughter learned it from a French intern

A kitchen that smells of pan fried potatoes and onions, bacon and fresh brewed coffee is a beautiful thing.

hiya uusue, glad to see you, however short
hi, sprite!
Morning Sue, as if your life wasn't busy enough...

hello!
hiya cosdem
fortunately I should be able to get some work done while proctoring
im up early.. going to do the walk to end alzheimer's in a bit
hi, cos!
uusue: take a stack of post-its, write NO on each one, and stick them into your calendar, on your phone, on your mirror, on your cell phone... etc
in honor of my grandma who passed from that disease in 2005 and ryans grandma who passed 3 weeks ago
As a wise woman I know said "We have to learn our limits or we are stretched too far, become resentful, and end up with bad feelings."
wow does one only need to walk to end the disease! ;)
lol, sprite!
Cos, thank you for walking for Alzheimer's. I lost my Dad to that beast.
lol its a fundraiser walk-a-thon
aw sorry about your grandma, cosdem, and a great idea to do such a walk
its awful. yea i was gonna skip it but i dreamt of my gram last night so i took it as a sign
and very nice, cos, haven't lost anyone myself to alzheimers but it is a scary disease
very scary indeed :(
ryan and i only raised 80.00 :( but its something i suppose.
How far are you walking, cos?
anyway, as I am the assistant chair of the department (so have some responsibilities) and live in town (rather than 40 miles away like most of the rest of the faculty) I felt some obligation to proctor.
Every little bit counts Cos. Hope you have nice weather for your walk.
It's not a big deal anyway, about 12 students, all I have to do is sit there and glower at them, and get my papers graded :-P
3.1 miles, Bea.
oh, hi, bea! didn't see you come in!
hello Bea
Just a stroll around the park then. Good cause, cos.
Morning all. Just in for a bit before I finish up the packing.
Good cause and a great way to get the endorphins flowing. Good for you and Ryan, Cos.
anyway, better go get dressed, bbs
Morning Bea. Hope you have a great vacation.
just posted a pic of her on FB if you're interested :)
have a good day sue!
Heading to the beach house this morning for a week.
bye uusue, have a good day
sounds good, bea
enjoy bea!
Have a good weekend, sue!
fireflies. Cute grid. Bye all, have fun
Halfway! Off to the beach! *poof*
Name that car sponsor of Groucho's You Bet Your Life" (over 50 and retro nerds only)
where IS that Molly?
she was around 1/2 a hour ago
she disappeared.
Quiz contest still stands. Clue: also an explorer (not Ford).
cadillac
No, I'm sorry. It's in the grid.
De soto
ding ding ding! Bob, tell him what he's won!
I hope it's a De soto (sic)
... I should have got that ... I've got the DVD of the show but I haven't watched it in a while
Well, you get the Amana washing machine, and $500 dollars worth of Ship n, Shore blouses from the Spiegel Catalogue, Chicago Illinois.
(I was home sick a lot watching game shows when I was a kid)
... but only if the duck comes out with the secret word ...
Groucho never gave away that many gifts. But : The Price is Right? Come on down!
On gameshows, they would always ask the female contestants (usually a homemaker from Decatur Illinois) "what does your husband do?"
I'm rustling up breakfast. Sorry to have missed the contest.
It must be the Jackie tapes putting me back there. Oh, if only we only had nuclear war to worry about, instead of this damn global climate crisis.
How DID all those women from Decatur get on all the game shows?
Sending in box tops?
... Has anyone tried hiding under a desk to fix global warming? ...
There's an idea!
How about "she is a lady lawyer" (or lady reporter, or lady conductor." Or he is a male nurse. These days we probably could make sense out of a sentence like "She is a male nurse"
in transition
Hey all! Good morning!
This is an erudite discussion on gender roles you are entering, car.
Oh boy. I will just play then.
Brought to you by DeSoto. And tell them Groucho sent you.
Morning Car.
{{Molly}}
... and if you say the magic word you get $100 ... but no one knows what the word is until the duck appears
? quack?
It's a common word, something you find around the house.
I loved that show!
Pedro Gonzales Gonzales!
kleenex
Did you know that's where Phyllis Diller debuted?
Speaking of, has anyone seen Roseanne Barr's reality show? It is really a riot. She just lets it all hang out- jiggly arms and gray hair and all.
It is called "ROseanne's Nuts"- she is living on an organic farm in Hawaii and growing nuts.
I have not watched it Kaplan, but I have seen it on the listing.
*Puts bacon, egg and cheese English muffin sandwiches in the PB. And 1 bran muffin for you know who*
Thank you, I think I'll have another.
You will either love it or hate it, depending on how refined your taste is.
I'm gonna hang out here a bit and do a morning nap- feeling tired.
Sounds like a plan to me.
then I will quit hogging the chog.
I didn't think you were hogging it at all!
Bran muffins are okay, as long as they are made with the proper ingredients. Gotta have some apples and cinnamon in there to liven things up.
Now I killed it.
*Applies paddles to the chog*
... and there it lies with the elephant you shot in your pyjamas ...
how it got into my pajamas I'll never know.
I never forget a face...
: )
... Hooray for Captain Spaulding!
Stats please for the O in the second column?
But in your case I'm willing to make an exception.
ot5/10
... never did find them ... sorry ... and must go and buy textbooks for frosh daughter who hasn't got out of bed yet after her second week on campus
I have an ot 5/10 from the first column O. Is there another one?
ol + **cargo (snails)
there is a 10 and a 16 but I'm not sure which column each is from- I do have the one you want though, because it is grayed out.
and good morning to all of you
I think the O you are looking for is of 5/16
it is a ol 4/4
TY!!!!!!!! And Good morning Mom and boatierra!
good morning ((Car.))
hello boatierra
And with that I am off! I hope you all have a GREAt day!
Morning all and your welcome :)

I don't believe I have met you, Boatierra. Nice to meet you
You're welcome, duh :)
Nice to meet you too :)

now there is a word we do not see in the grid often...is 7/28 to remove from the pack,to keep alone
Good morning all
howdy boo
thank you, crossy, I was staring at the "i" for the longest time
np annie:)
hey mrp .. tried to friend you with that new i.d., but can't find you there ... i think i'm having a "moment" :)
G' morning Babble gang!
howdy scwabby:))
d'oh .. make that 2 moments, she's gone! oops
hi scrabbs, everyone
morning, scrabbs
howdy welki
Crossy, I am currently an e-reader newbie. How do I download books? Do I download them to the computer first? Then how do I transfer to the Nook?
ok scwabby....
And how do I know which format? txt, epub, html, etc
the computer will see your nook as just another hard drive ,so plug it in and go to my computer, then the nook is usually marked nook,or drive f......
Initially I thought I could download directly to the Nook via WiFi.
open it up and choose digital editions or format which will then give you the sub heading of music or books.....
i use e-pub for all books that do not need illistrations,if you need illistrations, use pdf
I did one transfer by pdf but then it isn't under "library".
I downloaded Adobe Digital Editions.
to start scrabby, practice downloading books at www.gutenberg.org
you load to your computer, then just drag and drop to your nook digital edition file
I went to Gutenberg but screwed up somehow. I have been feeling like a moron.
has i made any sense? lol
e-pub is high quality and uses half the space of pdf
*deep breaths, I can do this* Yes, I think I was close to doing it right last night except I used it in pdf format.
pdf is great ,but only if you need pictures or other illistrations
e-pub all the way darlin!
I have been disappointed with the user's manual. It doesn't detail HOW to download.
of course not scrabby, they would rather you buy from the store
but it is very easy once you do a few
But you confirmed what I managed to do last night, except I will now use e-pub format.
e-pub is best
I will be patient.
i have 150 books and 200 song on mine and have used but 62% of the internal storage
I went to free e-books, good e-books, Gutenberg, Scribd.
i back it all up on a usb key storage
all good locales
Songs? Do I transfer from my iTunes library?
I ordered a 16g microSD card.
anything that show up as a mp3 or mp4
I found out that Nook has no text-to-voice option.
lol, with a 16 gig micro card added, you will never run out of room
it can read audio books scrabby
though i do not use that option
It took me a while to find where the MicroSD card goes. The slot is hidden under the corner--a small part lifts up.
with my first gen model, the entire back comes off for the card port as well as the user changable battery pack
Good morning from Mr. Bob
OK, so I can download audio books then listen. When I had my eye problem last Nov I was sent numerous CDs of audiobooks. I can transfer those?
Hi Bob
you can indeed
After I download the books to my computer and finish the transfer, do I delete the book from the computer?
and it plays music tolerably well and displays pictures, but first and foremost it is a reader
I played Babble on it already.
*watching "Black Hawk Down"---brutal war movie.
if you wish scrabbs, but what i do is make a file and put all transferred books into it.later on you can use winrar to compress the file and transfer it to a flash key for back up
Aha, TY.
Looking for the fl 7/40 that's in between the fl 5/16's. Clues please :)
that way in the future you can use calibre program and run off a pdf copy for our poor kindle friends:))
Boat...it's an fl word that refers to a "loose woman"
I will look with you, boat.
TY, Molly.
ooh, thanks!
Can ADE work that way too?
Oh! Got it. Thanks :)
and think of this scrabby, you can scan important medical text excerts that you wish to keep handy, use open office to make it a open or html file, then use calibre to turn it into a pdf, tyhen move it all to your reader for future reference
We actually have the title to an OLD song in the grid. fl8 fl7.
Crossy, you are such a smarty-pants!
once you get roling scrabbs, calibre becomes your best friend
thanks Molly, gave me the fl8...that is an oldie
: )
So do I need Adobe Digital Edition or just Calibre?
i use calibre for all my file changes
and if i am reading it on my computer i use.......
And that works for downloads too?
i use a e-pub reader called stanza
Aha, another website!
I found Scribd which is file-sharing for e-readers.
if you download it and it is in pdf and you wish it to be an e-pub,that is what calibre is for scwabby
there are many sites to choose from scwabby
So many new words, sites, techniques for this old dog to learn.
Stanza refers to iPod, iPhone etc. It works for Windows?
it does
once you get over 50 books on the reader,it becomes your constant companion,i even use it for personal file sorage
if i am at work and need a file,i toss it on the reader, then when i get home i just transfer it
I have been doing crossword puzzles and Sudoku.
Mostly I am searching for free stuff.
you have that luxury,my early model just has a 2 inch screen on the bottm
start with gutenberg, load you fav free classics and you will be a pro before you know it
When did you get that? I saw the Kindle and Kindle DX side-by-side--big jump in size of screen.
crossy also has his book list you can look through..i have sent sprite many books
2 years ago scrabbs
right when they were the newest thing
I reviewed Wikipedias comparison of e-readers--so many readers with so much variety! Very confusing!
you chose well
my nook continues to run flawlesly
though the battery life they post is a tad optomistic lol
I did my research and you also had mentioned the Nook Color as the top choice currently.
Clue for fl8, please?
And my sister got a glimpse of my wish list and she gave it to me for my birthday.
Hm, I will search too, Kenny.
mine was the best goft ever
gift
kenny, compound word, when your arches have fallen
Got it!
thnx annie
ty annie
TY, Annie!
youre welcome
Broke the 2000 point barrier!
if you wish to scan my e-book listscrabby(there are about 300 title) just mail me at p.a.melbourne@gmail.com and i will send along my list
wtg, boat
congrats boat
How many words left, boat?
TY, Crossy.
That is soooooo rare for me. I have 88 words left.
128 left here
I love the green rabbit :)
c
howdy inge
I love my green rabbit too. Once I changed it for the "icon of the day" and there was strong protest to keep the green bunny. I have real bunnies here at home--3 of them.
Hi Inge
i rarely change mine and when i do it is just a different wold, otherwise i could not find myself :)
wolf*
<<escorts crossy to the pb
arrroooooo
I've always wanted to have pet rabbits but I've never gotten around to properly making space. My cat and dog will do :)
Hahaha, Cwossy!
clue for ther O in the 2nd column please
spanish cheers plural
Someday I would like a cat and a dog and have them be bonded with my rabbits. I will never have 4 rabbits again--lots of work.
thnx wildcat
clue for the E in the second column, please
Hi wildcat. How is Austin?
got it as I asked
hi hi. we got some rain yesterday finally - much much needed. fires are mostly out but now recovery is underway
That is known as the Periwinkle Phenomenon, Annie, remember?
yes, I do (with a bow in peri's direction)
HA! Completed the F's! That's what sent me over the edge of 2000 points. Phew. Now I'm off for some pre-sleep reading then sleep. Sweet dreams all/doces sonhos todos :)
Clue for the e, Annie?
hello everybody
Bye, boa-tierra!
Bon jour, Ruby!
(((ruby))) was just able to read your email..thanks so much
hello ruby
night, boatierra
couldn't get into gmail or aol...but finally was able to
I'm happy to read wildcat's good news as I haven't heard from my son for several days
hello teach
glad I could help :)
he is ok, right?
we all had a slightly bawdy chog this AM
oh and scwabby, get a nook cover for it and go to wally mart as they sell a great clip on lite for it that is made by duracel
yes, he is very close to downtown but was worried about the dry Barton Creek bad which is right behind his house
((RUBY))
bed*
and the trees on his property are all bone dry
No one has out done 2Bit for the racy comment of the day. : )
((crossy))
I'm glad you got the letter, annie
I missed it, molly, is it repeatable?
we lost an entire national park in bastrop. christmas tree farms, the whole bit gone
sad, wild
it's just so sad. and now once it does rain everything will flood
it was terrible from the reports I read and maps I saw. In which direction are you from downtown, wildcat?
2Bit's comment..."if you can't find a good fe8 you might be de8" : )
north ruby. spared from fire but the smoke was thick up here. the worst was south and west
legitimate comment! hah
it was terrible. the fires spread quickly and were hard to fight from the ground.
*looking for fe8 and de8*
we are so lucky with the weather here - still 75-80 for a little wqhile in the afternoons, rain often at night and cool for sleeping.
we are so lucky with the weather here - still 75-80 for a little wqhile in the afternoons, rain often at night and cool for sleeping.
and it is as green as Ireland!
enjoy it ruby. I'm glad it's nice somewhere
9c or 52 american here atm
as annie knows, I was a little bit crazy (crazier) with worry during the fires
I think my son will retire here
he loves Austin, but hates the climate
understandable ruby
Austin has to be one of the greatest cities!
I'd like to come with him please
My cousin lives in Austin and another cousin attends UT Austin.
it's perfect for John since he's a musician and his wife works for Dell (intermittently)
it has great food and a thriving music scene
John grew up in Binghamton and Rochester, scrabs, so he knows your neck of the woods!
f
Crossy, I bought a bundled package from Amazon--cover, extra cables but it didn't have a travel charger as I expected.
New York state is beautiful but we have such high taxes!
i find i do not need it scrbbs, thing is good for 3 or 4 days of reading and i just charge at my computer at work or home
did you see pix of the flood in Binghamton? I lived right at the confluence of the two rivers
That's what I wondered, Crossy. In the bundle I used the screen protector and the case. I don't need to "skins" because I have the case. It came with a clip on light.
very nice
Ruby, featherbee lives in Binghamton and has shared the sad photos.
must cook, see you later
I don't know featherbee
Was she affected by the flood?
But for $25 I got stuff I don't need--4 skins, a bracelet....
the pix were shocking. One of my (very) old students had them on FB
well,i paid 15 for the cover and 8 for the liught when buying seperatly,so you did ok
No, her house is on a hill. Her mother's yard was flooded.
very tough weather there, worse than Buffalo
the light is good for 30 hours
going to take a break, bye
I got earphones. And a retractable cable with each end being a 3.5 mm thingie, like for the earphones, so I don't know how I would use that.
Bye Annie
Me too, brain death occurring.
first and foremost it is an amazing book reader,i keep music on it just in case but generally do not bother overmuch with its other doggles and dangle and bells and whistles
:)
I must be patient with figuring it out. I get easily frustrated when I confront difficulty.
mine can of course go on the net by wifi, but it is a royal pita with the 2 inch screen
so the new models are better in that regard
i will be getting the mrs a nook 2 for christmas as her sony prs 700 is 3 years old now and getting a tad long in the tooth,my son can inherit that one
That Kindle DX will be even larger.
even larger is fine, but does kindle offer e-pub support yet? and are all book downloads still dedicated to amazon files?
we can load from anywhere scrabbs, kidles cannot
ra
True, Crossy.
and if you have a library membership scrabbs you can go to the library web site and download e-pub books from them
with my membership scrabbs i can access over 18 libraries in our region
I still have about 2 dozen real books to read--on my shelves.
lol,my son now calls them "dead tree books"
and tbh,i would rather e-books now.a standard top author softcover here now costs 15 dollars after tax, most top author e-books are around 9,if you use the store
Well, Ive got a house full of them!
Yes, I know.
i have a few hundred myself scrabby:)
that was another reason for an e-book,it is to the point where i almost need a bigger house,or just give up and turn the livingroom into a library
I have them squeezed on every little space on shelves. I plan on tossing a bunch of old medical books and journals to free up space.
;
My eyes and brain need a break. I did e-mail you, Crossy. TY for your help. I will soon be a pro with my Nook.
i mean you know your in trouble when you seriously start thinking on how you could run three 20 foot lenghts of shelving in the livingroom with 2 asiles and still have room for a small table and 2 wingback chairs lol
collecting books is a little bit of an illness.. I have it too
i shall send the list along within the hour scrabbs
Hi Ruru! It's a great illness to have, well, as long as you are actually reading the books.
ok scwabby,list is sent
TY buddy!
some I reread again and again
I love books
i think ruru, that 99.9% of babblers are readers of books
probably very true crossie
strangly enough my father read nothing more than the newspaper and the side of cerial boxes
cereal
mine too
Hi All, how's the grid?
howdy hego
not bad hego.. until you hit 150
uh oh
lol,i just send scrabby a list of 200-300 e-books,that will keep her going for a bit hehe
We may never hear from her again. lol
especially since she is limited to ten at a time to make my file conversion easier
: )
i only convert what i like or what my friends ask for,so many are still unconverted
I had to find a way to read your RAR file.
use winrar scrabby and extract it to a new file on your desktop
Oh Good. She's back.
you need a link for winrar??
http://www.oldversion.com/download-Win RAR-3.62.html
there u go scwabby
but make sure you right click on your desktop and make a new file or you will fill your entire screen lol
once you click on my file after you load winrar it will say open with or extract to then just send it along to the new file
I am downloading WinRAR 64-bit from CNET
also at this time you can scan it for viruses before you extract it,but it is clean as a whistle
that works also
but i find oldversion.com a valuable resource when i am doin g a new build
f
I get WinRAR 64-bit free for 40 days. I suppose the old version is free forever
i use cnet for product reviews
yup free forever..thats why i posted it lol
You're so smart, always teaching me something.
I must be careful as I do not want your head to swell.
np scrabby,i fix your computer, you fix this tired old wreck of a body
scrabby, would the meds they offer for diabetics with nerve issues in the feet also work with with hand and feet nerve damage from chemo?
I don't think so Crossy
Do you have the pins and needles thing?
i know i should be gratefull just to still be drawing breath, but at night when it feels like someone is sticking burning knitting needles in your feet it can be tiresome or not knowing how hard you are pushing on the gas pedal untill you are doing 140 lol
Yikes!
Lyrica? Maybe. Who has that problem? It's more of a circulation issue, I believe.
indeed hego, pins and beedles all the time
mine is from chemo scrabbs
needles
Lyrica or Neurontin may be options.
it started mid treatment and leveled off at this and has never recovered
numb, tingling, and for a change of pace stabbing searing pain every now and then
My husband had that Crossy. From chemo.
i shall ask my doc ty scrabbs
http://www.cancer.org/Treatment/Treatm entsandSideEffects/PhysicalSideEffects /ChemotherapyEffects/PeripheralNeuropa thy/peripheral-neuropathy-caused-by-ch emotherapy-treating-cipn
Neurontin did help.
pk have that site saved for later reading ty scwabby
http://www.chemocare.com/managing/numb ness__tingling.asp
Asking your doc is a good idea.
Gapapentin = drug name. In US the trade name = Neurontin.
but these days, you also have to be your own doctor as well i find
Yes, you must be your own advocate, and be well-educated.
Right Crossy
have to be proactive,or you just go round and round, from doctor to locum,to doctor to locum
Crossy, I reviewed the lists. Later I will e-mail my requests--Grisham, etc.
i swear my doc must have half a dozen fill ins and 20 residents lol
And you must ask questions and demand answers. be an active participant in your care.
k scrabbs np
i hear that
Alright, I must pull away from the couch's ass magnet and go digs deep holes for bulbs. Deep enough so the squirrels and raccoons do not have a buffet.
Good advice Scrabs, I'm sure he will.
Get 2nd and 3rd opinions too.
for example,my initial cancer doc.gave the diagnosis and inital treatment and i never saw him again during that 5 years lol
With a chronic or serious medical problem you need to be a teammate with your doc.
i saw docs from spain for a year, docs from germany, fresh new docs, and locums enough to fill a stadium, but never saw the great man himself again
*pulling butt away from couch cushions* Yow, I must get going folks.
tc scrabbs
((Cwossy)) Do some reading of those links and about gapapentin.
Bye Scrabs
OOh, FedEx is here, what am I getting??
when arranging transport, they used to ask me who my doc was(to prevent people from abusing the ride program) and i said Dr Malcom Moore..if he is still alive lol
Yay a surprise!
will do scrabbs
nothing more fun than a package
biab..semi-poof
It's the bike trailer I bought to pull Mary's little one in. She is almost 4 and cannot keep up with us when she pedals her trike or bike (w training wheels) so I decided to buy this.
that's nice Scrabs.
Sounds fun for her.
I hope she likes getting inside and buckled.
OK, going to assemble that, then plant bulbs.
Bye Scrabs
Morning.

Not friendly enough....

I don't like it either Erda
So there!

Hello, westford, Jen.
hi jen
I found the cute little apartment all by myself..starting to think like a Brit
Ah - you mean a bijou flat?
Now think about the cute little apartment and what you do to pay for it, if you are a Brit and combine the two.
penalty box, haz :)
I am really not finding this grid at all easy today. chatting is much more fun!
what's this about westie?
!!! pb haz
haz!! pb for you
Entrapment, pure and simple.
I blame westford with her talk of Brits and apartments.
Haz puts up the Marion Barry defense. : )

ty wild *looking*
and i must be off to the shop, but before i go i give you the ever popular crossy,s tidbit of the day!!!
nbt
“Sternutation†is a fancy word for the act of sneezing.
nbt
still not getting it. to is the sum, right? when you add two numbers you get this right? then what is added on?
bye crosshair!
poink!
double a letter in that word mkg
double the last consonant on the to5 then add the pt ending
that sounds like a nun spanking someone's genetailia to me sternutation
ty got it. sorry to be so weird. i was stuck on doubling the consenants not vowel.
heh. and on that lovely note from ruru, i'm off to get ready to go to town
That would have an effect, mkg, and not a good one.
sorry jes.
ruru what on earth are you referring to?????????????
just more of my sicko humor

Proctor & Gamble.

nasty evil grid begone
... be nice ... or they'll put out a 440 word grid tomorrow
Believe it or not, there are people who wish for grids that size. Me, I don't have time for them.
... it's not the size ... ... it's the number of words like today's or7/28 that make them hard ...
*Stifles comment about "it's not the size" *
... stepped into that one didn't I ...
Yep : )
... just got an apt word ... fo6/27 + two 7s ... to talk foolishly or to talk nonsense ... ... never heard of it before ...
I could make a long, long list of words in these grids that I have never heard of before.
... I hit the list at about two thirds or three quarters done ... I speak sharply at myself for missing all the obvious ones that I miss ... the plurals and past tenses ... ... but when there are too many of these fo6/27s that were used once in about 1600 by some guy no one has ever heard of ... it's annoying ... I don't mind a few ... can be fun ... but their frustrating when you can't even monkey them
I agree about the words used once in 1600. And there are too many of them.
clue fo7s please
... fo 4 ... the thing at the bottom of your leg ... the 6/7/7 build off that ... I think it's a verb ... there's the present, past and third person
ty ewww those are nasty
... gotta agree with you there
Wild, that wee one is SO cute. How is he doing?
thank you so much molly!! he is fabulous! eats well, sleeps well, poses for adorable pictures ... perfect all the way around
Aw, I'm putting in my order for a grandbaby just like that.
he's been wonderful
fireworks here - and now off to a concert
... enjoy
Oh, here is a word we should all know...NOT..to6/18... a white crystalline derivative of acetylene; diphenylacetylene; diphenylethyne. Formula: C 6 H 5 C:CC 6 H 5...Say what?
HUH?
... you mean the one that sounds like a school in ... Louisiana ... or is it Texas?
ty Dose
... Louisiana ... had to check ... ... yw ...
: )
... and the infinite monkeys go wild as they finally hit the infinitieth (and don't check that word in the dictionary) combination of six letters that begin with fo ... and the crowd goes wild ... ... exits stage right ... with light heart ... and carpul tunnel syndrome ...
*Throws roses in Dose's wake*
!!!YAY!!! *-8-* *-8-* *-8-* *-8-* !!! ******

there are so many good quotes from that book. even if I say I am in the oyster shell stage of life, women nod knowingly
I never read that book...will have to
would you recommend it for a book group
absolutely I would recommend it. it is an easy read but is FULL of good stuff
I will suggest it then to my group....always looking for good reads
Secret Life of Bees was fun too
it even has suggestions for book groups
read that a couple years ago in book group - very good
Ilove that book too, Bugs
The Help was a great one too
yes it was River, I am waiting for the movie to come out in
can you suggest a good read for me? we have silent reading in class now
DVD
any others
Water for Elephants is good if you have not read it already.
what class are you taking Bugs
I haven't
that was good Peri
I would highly rfecommend: the Last Chinese Chef as well
Also liked The Rosetti Letter
Shelter me by Juliette Fay or Mudbound by Hilary Jordan
Excellent book! Peri
The chef one
will write those down, River, ty
if lento is a word, why not sotto?
which one, hego?
I am an EA in middle school and some classes use 15 mins of silent reading to settle the kids.
The Reliable Wife was pretty good
Chinese chef
I loved it hego
never heard of that one...writing it down now
once I get into a book I am off but last year found the year too full of other stuff to do. I am back reading because my summer was so full of books and I loved it
i recommend A Guide to the Birds of East Africa by Garyson
hi all
what is an EA, Bugs?
I absolutely love Jodi Picoult - would recommend her books
All I do is read, but I can never remember titles.
hi jmc
Hi JMC
I love her too, River and have read all of her books.
just finished Second Glance...it was a bit bizarre for her
My favoriate authors in no particular order. Jodi Picoult, Joy Fielding, Eliz. Berg, Ann Tyler, there are others but don't remember there names at the moment
wait, not sure if I read that one, River
and i just finished Roots and Branches about Thurgood Marshall and Charles Huston and the civil rights litigation--some may find it too litigation oriented but i learned so much!
education assistant. I coach the kids with learning disabilites or who have trouble learning thru conventional methods
I read alot of mindless stuff too like James Patterson...I think I have all his books
can someone help me with the is word?
River, have you read Jodi's latest: Sing me Home, very good

it is a novel and i read it while i was in kenya and gave as christmas gifts to most of my bookaphile family
its A Guide and by nicolas Grayson
I spent last year working full time, taking courses and reading up on the new education theories. It was a boring year and all it did was convince me that people are determined to re-invent the wheel
this year is for novels and books I choose for my soul

i think you guys are confusing fat with deep!
Oh, stop.
giggle
: )
where do I get books on CD for the car jmc? or do I need a Kindle type book to be read to
you can get book on CD at your local library
i get mine at a book store (usually the remainder bin) or the library
I think I'm done for today. Have a good weelend All. And thanks for the fun.
i read bleak house that way and it was wonderful
good bye hego...good to see you
Uh Weekend
bye hego enjoy your reading
Bye Poof!
it is so soothing to be read to but it never happens once you have grown up............. heavy sigh
bye HEgo
that's why books on tape are so good!
I must find more. what a great idea to check the library!
before my husband went deaf we subscribed to them for trips--but i am not sure if they are still around since it is so easy to get things now
my library has a huge number and mostly the current books as well as some classics
I found my house was getting overrun with books so I donated tons of them a few years ago. I am still loving the extra room but grieving the loss of favourites
i am going through my books and rereading them and after i read them i think if i am likely to read them again and if not i put them in the give away box--it has been working well as a system
got rid of a lots but kept the ones i know i will want to read again in 10 years
bugsaw, if u have an e reader you can dowload audio books from your library to it
god plan. i went cold turkey
I keep my favorites and get rid of the ones I didnt like so much...I reread books all the time...most folks dont
I do River.
thanks ivesy. I am reluctant to get one because I love the tactile part of reading
i do i have read dorothy sayers and georgette heyers over and over
i do too.. , i was given one as a gift. dont think i would have bought one.. i love the real book
and hello everyone
I find the e-reader "reading quality" rather poor. I prefer books on CD.
hi ivesy
hello ivesy
i downloaded kindle to my computer (for free) and find that works out okay
i use books on tape when i walk.
i wouldn't mind these really heavy text books on a kindle! lol
so jmc, does that mean you can listen to a book while searching on the net?
is there a gw word?
no
okay i can quite looking for it
gw was a character on the waltons , in love with erin walton....just a tid bit there lol

Hello everybody. Its Soodle here. My laptop died today (RIP), and I can't remember either my login name nor my password for my pro account. Can anybody tell me how to contact Dr_God?
Oh, it's here somewhere. Let me look around.
Thanks Moll. I'm using my daughters 'puter, and I feel like a tourist in a strange land......
(((soodles))) *RIP computer*
Soodles, at the bottom of the page is a questions or comment link. The VERY bottom of the page.
oh yeah... hey all! *waves*
dr.god@playbabble.com
Ah, I see it now, S/Mama. Thank you. And thanks for the condolences on the laptop. It lived a long, meaningful life, but it was time to say goodbye....
Hello...
hey jellen!
How are things?
Thanks Moll.... as I am a guest on this computer, my mail isn't set up, so it won't allow me to email Dr god. I'll try again tomorrow. And Hello Jell :-)
And people? Mustn't forget people!
soodles, don't you have a facebook account?
why not post a note to DrG through that
LOL things here are decent, people are good... I am tired. I think it's a good day for a nap (it rained today)
I will do, Stid. Thanks. BTW, Naps are great. I am a great believer in power snoozes!
I napped all day...now must get a couple of things done before I head out to watch my nephew in the Music Man...
that's a fun show jellen -- what ro4 did he get?
Soodle, just go to your email site (Yahoo, gmail, whatever) and log in. You should be able to email that way. Unless you use *shudder* Outlook.
I'm not sure what role he's playing...just know he's in it!
Oops! Will do stuff from the pb!
((hugs)) to all!
it will be great!
Hanging head in shame.... I'm an Outlooker.
Well then, you should get a free gmail or Yahoo email account. That way you are not limited by what computer you are on, regarding email.
You can put a forward on your Outlook account so that all mail sent there will go to the other account as well.
Good advice, Molly...
Self and youngest daughter just home from the circus. It was wonderful. How can these acrobat people be so ..... bendy????
*poof*
have fun jellen!
I like the circus -- especially the cirque du soleil types.
Oh Moll, thats a great plan. I was always a bit afraid of changing my email in case I missed something. I will surely investigate as soon as I have a computer of my own. Thanks for the advice. :-)
soodles, I highly recommend gmail -- I have several accounts, and the gmail seems to be best at filtering unwanted mail while letting the good things through.
NBT.
It's a little tricky forwarding from Outlook. Just do a Google search on "How To Forward Outlook Email" and it will give you the steps.
My current email is a bit parochial.. @eircom.net. Would I be able to marry an account like that with a gmail?
what is the total pts today plz
Soodle, go to eircom.net and sign in. You can check your email that way.

Hey Soodle.....coming your way in October!
Hello Babbleonians. How are you tonight?
Thanks Moll. MARYTE!! You are coming over here????
Yepper..... October 14th......
Hi Wht
Oh wow! Whats your itenerary?
Soodle, Maryte was a party hearty girl at your Babble Birthday party. She can hold her own at the pubs.
what a hangover!! Molly was the best host!!!
morning all :)
Hello Mr. President
hi molly :)
Soodle....I spent alot of time in Ireland as a child. My mother is from Co.Cork. Me,my husband, sister, brother-in-law, neice and my father are going. My mother passed away last year and has left me and my sister some land. Going to get the paperwork done and some things settled.
this time next month, I will be walking the Galtees....
Will you be flying into Cork? (hoping against hope you will be around Dublin, and there may be a Babble meet.....)
.....and drinking......
Sounds like a great trip Maryte. What a wonderful gift from your Sainted Ma.
ok i have fireworks , 0 words left, but tile stats show 1 letter remaining. and 2 word stats that arent greyed... .. oh and my score is 3116 any suggestions?
Yes, we are flying into Cork.....we will be staying about an hour out of Dublin. Staying in a little place called Glenville Cork......have rented a cottage..
Ivesy, Expert or regular Babble?
I think so too Molly.
ives, that is strange! a refresh??
expert molly. and i have refreshed, re loaded, and started from scratch
When would the babble meet be??
I don't know Ivesy. As I recall, you have had this problem with Expert before. I have no clue why you would have MORE than the total points.
is your list complete??
is everything ticked on the list?
yes molly i did.. and yes mr p it is
Glenville - just outside Cork city? Maryte, I have to be in County Clare on business in about a month.... wouldn't it be lovely to meet up?
ok, send words to babble button... click on it
ok... one word is missing, have to do it manually
Would love it!!! Have you been to the Galtees??
the server that dr.g has may have gone down for a few seconds
yes ive
ok did that now the list says zero
if you entered words into expert whilst dr.g's server was down, it won't go to the actually babble list
Oh beware, County Clare. It could get wild there in a month or so. : )
I think Glenville is 1/2 hour from Cork City. BYOB??
manually enter the word into Add Word??
No I haven't Mare, but I am very open to new experiences!!!!!
underneth the grid??
but tile stats still say one word missing and the word stats say i have a four missing and oh, i have more than the total 5 letter words lol
Is this going to be like your birthday bash???
LOL LOL!!
Soodle, be gentle with this woman.
Would you be able to come see us?? My sister is a lurker on Babble... Come visit Soodle!!
my e-mail address is labas2_u@hotmail.com .....
ives, do a reverse... 'send words to clues' and then 'send words to babble'.
ok
Which word is missing, ivesy? Does it tell you?
If at all possible, I will, maryte! Thats a promise.
Molly, I was a victim at that party you threw!!
But, its ok... I don't remember anything so all is good.
Molly sure knows how to throw a party. Bless her!
*Has visions of a very twisted The Sound Of Music happening in the Galtees*
hahahaha! yes
no neil.. all the words on licketys list are accounted for
MrP - Were you watching the rugby earlier on? (Ireland beat Australia....)
ives, which letter does it say is missing??
That is weird.
soodle, we didn't get it live but yes, saw that they won.... was a bit of a shock for them as they have to beat two good teams to get in.
[headscratch]
e-mail me Soodle..... we can hook up with Molly too!!
letter o in first column.
when i try to send words to babble , it stops responding...
Ivesy, something in Expert is not tabulating correctly for you. But you seem to be the only one this is happening to.
or7,28?
Or is that ot5,10?
Or ot4,4?
lol... i know molly...
i have all the words neil.. just isnt reading them
i even had the fireworks video
ok, go through the list of o's that you have and look at the list on babble
Maryte... . I have your email address. Mine is medickinson@eircom.net. Woo Hoo...... a babble meet in Ireland. I can't believe it!!! Woo Hoo!!
compare and see what isn't there, then enter it manually into babble itself... 'add word' box, not lickety
nine letter o's have them all in both places
hi neil :))
Ummm, hi to you too, mrp?
you and I still have the hair going??
Oh that's weird, ivesy.
Ivesy, I'm still freaked out that you are showing 3116 points. : O
I wouldn't worry about it then, because you'll probably get your points.
did I get a ?? neil?
The hair going, mrp? This hair's long gone... I keep it buzzed pretty short these days. ;)
no, I mean our pics
Yeah, a ? as in hello, I'm here? :P
yep sure is neil lol.. i know molly its this over achiever bit i have rofl... oh well.. thanks for your help... going to see what happens 2morrow.. how it scores me
Hair today, gone tomorrow.
ivesy?
Way to give it 105% Ivesy.
did that help at all ives? clear the tiles to grey?
Did you note what your ranking was before you started this grid? If so, check and see if you have your alotted points for completing the grid.
nope sure didnt mr .p.. lol
Trotting off to bed now. absolutely delighted at the prospect of an Irish Babble meet. Good night all, Poof
oh if that is the case ivesy, it is a problem on dr,g's end for sure! LOL
nite soodle
i will check my ranking and see if it goes down 2morrow even though i finished the grid... nite all.. thks for your effort
Good night ivesy.
Take care!
nite ives, good on ya for fireworks!
i have monkeyed words today that have actually worked!!
Good monkeys! You must be feeding them well. :)
mrp does the *monkeys are a legend dance*
Haha!
can you imagine that dance neil?? knuckles dragging on the floor and bouncing around! LOL
I just peeked in to see if anybody needed some clues but guess not... and probably enough people lurking here to do that already.
good to see you as always neil!
Oh, you're dancing like a monkey? Yes actually, I videotaped someone dancing like that at a wedding reception. :P
You see all kinds at those!
that is funny!
Yep. People do some pretty funny dances at receptions.
we are past that now neil... people not getting married anymore
Of course that tends to coincide with the amount of alcohol said dancers have consumed.
Yeah, well I still have friends getting hitched.
Suckers! :P
LOL !!!
oh we welcome them to the club... open arms, then convince them to have kids, just to give them that real kicker!! We all then laugh at them as the fun begins!
but, we are screwed up that way. joy and loss of freedom is a difficult thing to explain, but funny as heck
ok, clue the gl7 please neil?
Good evening all
Haha!
hi boo :))
Hi Mrp How are feeling these days
gl7 refers to the back of your mouth
Linguists talk about a gl7 stop.
gl7,36 -- pertaining to an opening at the upper part of the larynx, between the vocal cords.
hey boo! is a Sunday morning... lazing around with daughter watching volleyball... days are running into eachother as my knee recovers How you going hun??
But I always thought it was that thing hanging down at the back of the mouth?
ty Neil for your better knowledge of anatomy.
Like wht says, yeah.
ah, medical stuff
Uh, not it isn't wht. That's what dictionary.com says it is. But I question that.
hi wht :))
"no it isn't" even. Typo there.
The thing hanging down is your uvula, Neil
Oh right! :P Duh.
Very well. We are having a family dinner tomorrow. I am watching baseball now while babbling.
But a lot of people call it that!
My son calls it a dingy. And he has a bifidular uvula, or a double dingy.
got it gents, now I am going to call someone that who doesn't shut up!
I've heard it called a gl7,36 too. Weird.
Boo, I was watching baseball earlier but it was disappointing.
A dingy, a thingy... yeah. All works I guess.
first fl5/16 pls
the weekend is all about sport in this house!! LOL
hi peri :)) **hugs**
Ok. Well the Yankees won but some of I missed
Yes
Clue for el 4
Poor Wht, Sox lost. : (
where are Sox from?? Boston?
:( indeed, Molly
I am not far along in this grid..going very slowly tonite
Don't feel bad Wht, at least you're not an Orioles fan. : ( : (
In this case, yes, the Boston Red Sox. Not to be confused with the Chicago White Sox.
You have 4+ hours left, Boo. That's doable!
Thanks Neil
ah, red sox I have heard of and that is where I got Boston from
Molly, that is true, although I remember when the Orioles were good. It is probably longer ago than I think.
el4,4 -- flair, panache, etc.
Ty
Or did you want el5,10 -- cheer, encourage, gladden, exciten, etc.
Ah yes, back in the days of Cal "Pretty Eyes" Ripken. It's been a while since the Orioles have fielded a decent team.
panache! that is a word I haven't heard/used a long time... we stopped using it because it was the name of a revolting fragance for men LOL
Got them both..ty
yw, Boo!
Haha, mrp!
There's always some guy who loves any revolting fragrance and wears the entire bottle. Usually the guy I'm unlucky enough to get into an elevator with. Never fails.
how vomitus! LOL... poor neil
Yep, it's rather emetic. :P
*looks up emetic*
Hi ruru! :)
Means vomit-inducing.
Ain't that pleasant?
oh.. new one
learn something new here almost every day.
I was wondering how you just threw that one up..sorta
It's quite a common word, ruru.
oh.. sorry.. I live in the sticks
Surprised you didn't know it. But hey, I'm always learning new words too. We can't know them all.
so how is my favorite political commentator today?
I think if you ever stop learning, it's time to move on. :P
I'm your favorite? Wow, thanks. :)
evening all!
High praise indeed.
Hi dan2bit! How's it going?
I've seen you around Google somewhere.
Oh yeah, connectecd with Seain?
doing well. yes on G+
Hi dan
I have the ge7 that's the plural dessert - is the 2nd one related?
clue for the last ge7,36. The one after the Italian ices.
Yeah, I'm on there. You may see some of my political posts because I post them to "extended circles"?
hah wht jinx!
ge7 put an a where the e is and you have someone heroic
tx ruru
Especially when I'm watching political debates and commenting on them... you probably have me blocked so you don't see my spam then. :P
yw
ty ruru
hi dan and ruuster :)
hi everyone
looks like boy talk *zips it shut* Hi dawg ***hugs***
Hi lbd
hiya mrp & lbd
hi lbdawger
What does, mrp?
boy talk?
hi mr p
yes, the boys are talking... no?
anyone seen my barbie?
Did you see what I said there, Dan?
She ran away with Ken, ruru.
can anybody clue the fo6's after the horse birth one?
really.. he doesn't have a penis
fo6,27 -- refers to/descriptive of the unborn
fo6 not a friend + most of not short
Yeah, well guess she'll find out huh?
The next one refers to unborn children
poor barbie
That's the one I just clued, wht.
Then there is one which is enemy + rock outcropping
Uh, I'll just let you guys clue it then.
tx all - got both
I remember the store in the Castro that had a window display of Ken and Barbie in all kinds of sexual positions... and they got sued by Hasbro..
It was hilarious
dan2bit... see what I said at 7:39 & 7:40?
The next one sounds like to put papers in sequence.
yes
Oh funny, ru... my stepmom wrote about playing with Ken and Barbie like that in one of her articles.
Oh, ok?
I tune out politics generally - it's just background noise in DC
I love politics.. but don't like the politicians in most cases
I see. I just wondered if you'd seen any of those posts... not sure how "extended circles" really works on there yet.
I have a good friend in LA who says the same thing about show biz
clue for the or7, please
mmm or 7 a big babblet
or + ***l plaza + indefinite article
or + ** be or not ** be + ***d Ho (sailor talk)
AMEN, ruru! I was interested enough to have majored in Political Science at UCSC. ;) And ended up a journalist, photographer and very part-time political writer... go figure.
hi (((MRP))), dan2, wht et.al. came in to change my avatar.
ty lbd, dan and ruru
nn - I probably don't check G+ often enough to be a good test subject, honestly :-)
I considered a career in Journalism.. I really enjoyed it in high School.. but got diverted elsewhere in college as I couldn't get the classes in Journalism I wanted
I have family and many friends in LA. Ugh, they're trying to convince me to move down there.
Oh, ok Dan.
they can keep LA.. I really don't like it down there
Oh that's too bad, ruru... I was lucky to get that too.
I don't either... why do you think I'm still up here?
<---Thinks the world would be a more interesting place with Ru as a journalist.
I like the restaurants .. but the whole fashion thing is kind of creepy to me.. and all the rubberized lips and blond hair is just too much
Likely so.
The world according to Ru
Yes, there are great restaurants and cafes there.
not to mention the boob jobs
Why not? That's some name you have there.
Uh, yeah... and not just on the women either. *shudder*
LOL
firewords! appropos of boob jobs, fl7 slattern was my last
LOL
Haha, Dan... congrats!
Fireworks
The word slattern needs to be used more often.
ru?
MollyL - glad to help
Well, there are some words which describe what the slattern might do in the grid, as well.
You are a stand up guy 2Bit. : )
whooo hoooo Dan2 and Wht!!
Yes, and 2Bit did a nice commentary on those this morning.
Indeed so. fe7 & fe8... two of the first words I found. :P
I guess I missed all the fun.
"if you can't find a good fe8 you might be de8"
Haha!
well that blows
Sucks too.
What do you think Min's clue story would like like today?
*wonders if Monica got some pizza too?*
Min is to prim and proper to use those words Wht.
Hey, he did not have sexual intercourse with that woman. Ahahahaha!
she's up to the challenge I am sure
min that is
I heard he had trouble closing his desk drawers
Those prim and proper people will surprise you from time to time.
yeah.. like take Rex Ryan for example...
he's great to go out to dinner with.. because he will always foot the bill
Oh funny, wht... maybe Minl needed a ghost writer, just for today? Haven't seen her clues story, if she's already written one?
*groan*
Min, not MIni... darn typos!
yaaa! chicken wings were on sale!! flesh! muscle! yaa for carnivores!..cough sorry not often they come on sale..howdy again all:)
clue for the second fe 7
Then again, I could be wrong. She did write that one story about her husband lusting after trick or treaters in erotic costumes. : P
there is only one fe7
elvira can spank me any time:)
There is only one fe7. There is the fe8 who is the person who does fe7 and there is fe6,9 who is the lucky recipient.
Shocking, MollyL.
Wht is trying to outdo 2Bit. : )
Well, she has to work with what the grid gives her.
You can tell I'm just sooo proper. :P [ignore language in my commentaries]
And ignore this too while you're at it: http://tinyurl.com/3ja9rg7
[not one of my more normal moments]
I'm guessing with the right prodding wht...

Oh! Hi, gremlinn!
de + better **** than never
hi Jellen
Thanks!
hello all
Hi, TO
Hmm...passed the halfway point...
Do I stay or do I go?
hi jells
Hi, carlee
how are things?
Things are so-so...
so -so?..how so?
Mmm...just man-confusion...
ah... yes... i was asked out last night..and i believe another is working up nerve to asl me out
Oh, that is nice...
both have loads of issues
i went to HS with them..the one is a captain of fire dept..he is a firefighter slut
Ohhh...
the other..was abused as a kid and used to do loads of drugs and drank..now he has swung other way..and is uber health nut... both are divoreced...and both are just meet up for a coffee material
( but is nice that they want to ask me out ;) )
i went to HS with both of them
Yes, that is flattering...
i dated the firefighter a bit when he was first on the dept
so wha tis ur man-fusion?
Oh, I just called him because I hadn't heard from him today...we talked a while, then he asked if he could call back. And he didn't.
well....he A; got tied up with something.... and its nothing... or B; it just didnt "gell" for him and he is being a wimp and not telling you straight up...so...sit..and wait....or...better yet...carry on and dont wait
It's probably nothing...his little boy was bouncing off the walls and it was bedtime...
( carlee is in a place where unless dude is going to treat her like a princess and adore her...and want to move heaven and earth for her...carlee doesnt want anything to do with him )
That's a wise place for carlee to be...
carlee had 20 years of playing nurse, playing maid, playing cook, playing whore ...carlee is not playing any of those again
Playing Babble is better.
The fo's have me stumped...
having a cat curled up on your feet whilst u play babble is much more fun
fo + not buy, backwards
fo 6/27, the first?
referring to unborn child, extra-vowel spelling
Thanks, gremlinn
in any event jells i wouldnt let it get to you...
Yeah, I over-analyze and worry too much...
de8, last one?
barren, lifeless
Oh, I am alone, as de******
and de******
ty jellen
fo 6/27, the second?
same as previous, but change last two letters
Oh, okay! Thanks...
The fo 6/27 after 12 inches?
add two letters to the 12 inches
That's a word?
Thanks, gremlinn
means: 1. To waste time; trifle. 2. To talk nonsense.
But I've never heard it used
Oh, I should use that as a self-descriptor!
( do i want another piece of pizza???? )
( is 3ple cheese )
I'm feeling a 130-ish size grid coming
Mmm...pizza!
<--- eating spaghetti o's out of the can
Pfft...not gonna finish...
ahhh icon change.. brb
(am trying tog et to 1/2 way )
