have you ever played Boggle, karana? You type in words the same way. 4 letters or more, next to one another, no diagonals, no repeating the same tile.
what exactly does IN 6/7 mean?
ty jilli.....
compound word, jill... the se8/9
the firs ttwo letters of the word and one is a 6 letter word the other is a 7'
first two letters are in___, and the word is 6 letters long, 7 with a suffix (S, for instance)
SE6
have compound se6's, but not seeing the 8
it means a 6 letter word, beginning with in, and also a 7 letter word like it.

hi, karana! If you're hoping for people to give you specific clues for individual words, that isn't going to happen this early in today's game. Many folks won't start working from lists or clues until they're at least halfway there. Just keep going!

nice horn jill
blue, do you know about the icon themes?
no
I tried googling "g" which is my initial irl, and got lots of anatomy pictures pointing to a certain spot lol
i know right!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
explain jill?
gtg play the puzze no distractions good luck all ya
160 down - off to the list :)
there is a daily theme for icons, which sprite (in the Netherlands) collects and posts. I post a copy of her list for those on this side of the Atlantic -- and west. You'll se it if you click on my icon (although I must update it now). Todays' theme, suggested by arleeecat, is something that looks like the first letter of your name, so my saxophones is trying to look like a J. Sometimes the themes are very interesting and people post great info.
Fun to learn.
aha.......how fun!!
I think so, but others just ignore it
I'm old and gray :) still haven't figured out a bunch of stuff in here, but mostly, folks are friendly and I'm enjoying the game
<talking about my icon>
Blue, I'm older
I know jill :) <bows> <grin>
*yawn* 50 to go, and off to bed. happy babbling! *poof*
Blue, go to your My Account and click on the tiny square, upper right, to at least get your flag
bye Griff
oh!! ok well......not sure which flag I want......I still have a Dutch passport :) grew up in Canada, and live on Maui........hmmm
then you must have the welsh flag! (because it's cool . . .) lol
take your pick, Blue -- you can always change it
testing my looks like icon...
very good R, rbud!
good one rbud
was hard to find!
I bet!
don't see a tiny square upper right......oh well
just pick your country off the drop down list in "My Account", Blue
i think you have to be a "apid up" user before you can have a flag in here
ack, i meant paid up
I think Blue's paid? didn't I read that a week or so ago? maybe not, not sure
Blue, look again -- little square says Show Profile beside it.
Blue is paid up.
those who are paid also get a little pink or blue bust, am i right?
yes, but you have to enter your profile
hmmmm
At least, Blue *said* she was paid up
I paid!! did my check bounce?
oh look!! a flag!
you have a flag! good job! :)
Hooray Blue!!!
well.............sorry to say, but I wouldn't live in the US if it wasn't for Hawaii.......<this will piss some folks off>
doesn't bother me any, we all have our preferences, that's fair enough
Hate to tell you, but you ARE in the US...
lol erda, I know :)
Now you need an icon. When you go to your My Account, on the left-hand page you will see your grey head with Edit written under it, and instructions as to how to get an icon. Do the Browse thing and choose something from either your own Pictures files or go to Google and find something to put there.
when I first moved here I actually went to the post office and asked for Hawaiin stamps.........duhh :)
hahaha!
Volcano alert...
hmm gandhi's first name works lol
I mean when you click on Edit you will see instructions about getting an icon
ok........
crashing -- see you tomorrow :)
how could I have missed the volcano? Ty davurs
oooo.........tks dart!
don't pick anything that's not square, Blue, or it will squish up funny
That's not a name, dart, it's a title
bye nan
thanks dart and jilli
I would never have found it
somehow a title wouldn't work as well as a clue
silly me -- I tried indira first, lol

morning all....clue please for ma7/40 please?

I just hit 99 myself, but I have the di8/9, yay

<giggle>
LOL blue!

What time is it on Maui?

ROFL! sun rises in the east Jill........PM <grin>

102 here. but i haven't found anything from the first A
I am fooling around, I have 107 left. The first A... i have 3 there. a4/5 and a combo a5/12 - 6/21
and am trying a word for a kind of ceremonial dagger, but cannot get it to work.
do you have anything from the second A in the left column?
when you get something, you at6,18 it
and plural
thank you :)
i still haven't found the A's you clued :(
the combo ends in guy/guys
just got one :)
good :D
thank you !!
and I looked it up, the ceremonial wicca knife is not valid in any spelling here :(
good morning everybody
hiya ruby :) A good though overcast morning here.
hello ruby
evening all :)
{{sprite}}
hello debjed
hello mrP
hi mrp
morning mrp :)
hi girls :))
any clues for the 8 or 9's?
husband didn't know that DST ended, so I have an extra hour this AM! yay
oh that is lovely :)
ooooh daylight saving! have to change flip from 4pm to 5pm now :)
hm... I have nothing over 7 yet, sorry.
an extra hour sleep! how lucky for you!
it is so silly that Europe and the US don't change at the same time!
for real??
we changed 3 weeks ago
we got an extra hour in bed today :-)
as much as I ha4 the start of DST, I love going back to normal. Getting up after sleeping in, eating when I am hungry, going to bed when I am sleepy. It is nice :)
yes that is very silly. We used to, long ago, didn't we? But then they changed it.
hiya Katie :)
Hi sprite, morning everyone
HI KATIE
am watching Flowers In The Attic... the book was so so sad, now this movie is just incredibly sad
hi katie :)
very sad theme, mrP.
I'm watching the Grand Prix, playing babble and hoping hubby wakes up before whatever Rhubarb and Crumble have trapped under the radiator cover makes an apperance
i have never read that book. I think I'll write it down so I remember
lol Katie! Very vivid image in a few lines!
Virginia Andrews
is an incredibly well written sad story about children
THAT'S ANNOYIG! i JUST HIT THE WRONG KEY AND TOTALLY LOST BABBLE
I read them years ago, I liked the first one but felt they got stranger and stranger
sorry didn't mean to shout
I assume Rhubarb and Crumble are two of your cats :)
aw poor rubyfoo, lol. Easy now gal ;)
shout away! haven't given shouting a go in a long while
I have three cats too, Katie
yes they are the two youngest. Custard the eldest probably brought whatever it is in the house in the first place but is sitting next to me looking all innocent at the moment
I thought they might be small children with cute names, playing with spiders.... lol
Christopher, Cathy, Cory and Carey... those poor kids
Custard is a smart one
totally love the names, btw
sometimes I think small children would be less trouble :-)
the smaller the kids the smaller the problem.... too right katie
one of my boys is batting at the blinds and driving me crazy :)
pets (and kids) are so smart when it comes to getting our attention.
Deb I think they know what drives you mad and keep doing it to see how long it takes you to break
deb, i had to start a system with one of my kids... show him a red card to stop him doing things, a yellow card to warn he was close to the edge, and a green card to say well done!!
Ruby, the tyrant, has developed a new, special, ordering-me-around bark. It is so cute that I have to obey!
But, it was the only communication level I had with him for a period of time :)
see :D So very smart.
I don't know what I would do without them though. Mrp, I don't think my cats would understand the colors :)
Crumble has worked out that stealing my wedding ring from the bedside cabinet is a sure fire way of getting me up........nothing like the sight of it in her mouth running down the bed to get me moving
Terra can open the fly door himself, coming in. But he only does that when we are not in the room. Whenever we are, he scratches and scratches and sounds his tiny bark until we open the door.
I can't imagine life without dogs
ha deb! cats are too bubbly for colour! They need noise!
or a squirt of water !!
indeed ruby... my dog is just like one of the kids!
ruby, did you see I started a game with you? Took me a while to figure it out, but managed.
I have a 'voice' I use when they are being naught it works really well!
water did miracles to stop my dog from barking!
yes, the voice works well on animals and humans!
yes, I made a play last night before I went to bed. I'm delighted!
(my dogs never do anything bad!)
I use the voice and 'the look'. Work great.
great :D Will check it out later and make a play too.
Morning everyone! Back after another gap. Hope you are all well.
LEX IS SLOW BUT PLEASANT AND YOU CAN HAVE PRIVATE CHATS
kitties don't respond well to the look but hubby comes into line with it lol
whoops, errant pinkie again. sorry
morning Sally!!
morning sally
hi Sally, good morning :) Lots of cards already.
{{sally}} I've missed you!
Oh good Sprite! Are you having fun?
I like your profile pic, Sally :)
Ruby, I've popped in and looked at the chat occasionally but haven't had time to play. Today I will do my best though. Have entered three words already :-)
well on the way, then, sally
yes, really enjoying it. Some messages are so nice too. Some are just bland, but others are great. And with some people, email correspondence has followed. Highly enjoyable!
thank you for the pointer, I so appreciate it!
Good. sprite. I'm so glad.
phantom: african fly
yeah, i
i've looked at that a couple of times :)
I found one biggie combo, se8/9. Person(s) sharing your chair.
good one, ruby. Spoken as an experienced babbler!
yayayayay Sprite! thank you
thy sprite, I would never have thoght of that
yvw, I have the biggies left, as usual.
uh oh, pb for me! :(
mwah... that is a tough word to avoid ;)
any good snacks in the PB?
Looks carefully at ruby's post. Ah! Thank you for the word :-)
lol sprite.
I hope there's coffee!
let me see... extra dark chocolate... fresh fruit... cheeses... crackers... yes, great goodies!
herring? always the optimist!
well, we should all be there :)
fresh herring, yes. Onions on the side.
and good Dutch bread.....
lete's have a PB party. All come in at will :D
then we won't be thin anymore :)
I wish
grinnnnn you are admitted, debjed ;)
thin is overrated!
thin gives you wrinkles!
ad7/8 combo, very unyielding (material or opinion)
don't get me wrong, I'm not thin !! :)
And it gives you the pb :-)
me neither. Haven't been for ages. My patience is thin, sometimes. But that's all.
we have some great dark chocolate at the food co-op I work for.
oh I love good dark chocolate. Sinfully full taste.
I think we're all set for a pb party!!!
<--doesn't like chocolate
np, I will take your portion too
Somebody mention a party???? Morning all
oh, I wish I didn't like it :)
Sooooooodle! *hugs* Great to see you.
morning Soole
Soodle :)
OMG, it's {{soodle, the sweet}}
(((Hugs))) all round :-)
for those still looking for the biggies: di8/9 strewn with rhinestones. French form of the word.
I think sprite knows more Fr than I do!
*grins* don't bet on that!
Ruby - I got your email. I will reply from work. Still got huge 'puter problems.
I'm ready to shoot mine, so don't feel bad. I was so long in writing that I don't deserve a quick response!
puter problems are one of the bigger frustrations of our times... (hey did I put that beautifully or not)
Thanks for the dia 8/9 sprite
what a philosopher!
yvw Sally. Odd one, isn't it? Took me ages.
Beautifully put, Sprite. (The air would turn blue if I were to type in how I feel about puter probs :-P)
not getting that di
Actually we use that word in English, to mean paste jewellery that looks like the real thing.
well that was my public opinion. My private one uses a lot of the symbols over the number keys.
(last night the air was pink, just after sundown) it was incredibly beautiful!
yes I think it is derived from the french, Sally
Cubic zirconia are just not a girl's best friend!!
Oh yes, it is.
lol soodle.
and they probably don't cut glass, either
deb: di**onds are forever. AM = **** meridian. Plural for the 9.
ruby: one of those nights that when you'd make a photograph, it would look fake!
I even tried, but it was totally nil. Like when I tried to photograph the bats at dusk
hey, Ghandi is in the grid!
yeah those are impossible to photograph without special equipment. They move so fast, and in the semi dark...
the night I tried, there was a crescent moon and it was amazing
I can watch bats for hours. Their flying makes me happy. I don't know why.
the tiny ones here look like black butterflies
there is a cave up the cliff above us
<--- firmly decides to go visit rubyfoo
half! yay
gj
please please!!!
fireflies. Or firebats.
yay, sprite!
Definitely bats for Halloween!
but wait 'til may when there are flowers everywhere
:D Firebats it is!
deb, did that clue help you?
AM=**** meridian???? sorry, can't find that di yet.
I want a bat house in my back yard :)
the time indicator, before or after noon... AM or PM. The 'before' word.
deb. the first four letters begin like the jewel, the second four are like the word meaning "before".
we thought of getting one, but cleaning it would be too icky, even for me
and they're happy in their cave
hm, I'd be willing to clean a lot of icky stuff just to have bats close. Will look into that!
sally: the fish are thriving, thanks to you. Some of them are over a foot long now
deb: or take the 'unyielding' word. Change the first 3 letters into the first 3 of the gemstone. Add a vowel to the end.
Good ruby, I only gave you the link.
Sally, sometimes a link is all it takes :) (as with the cards!)
but I still consider you their godmother
Instead of a PB we should have a bat-cave, á la Gotham city!
lol ruby
oh yes, especially now with Hallowe'en!
sounds good to me!
deb, did it work?
finally !!!! don't know why that was so hard:) ty
wtg! It is babble blindness. Sometimes it is just not possible to see a word.
ok have to love and leave you. Enjoyed the company very much! *hugs*
bye sprite. thanks for the help!!!
Bye for now sprite.
{{sprite}}
see you later, sweeties!
off to (bad) lunch
We're off to lunch later, too, but not for another couple of hours. In our case, will be a good lunch!
bye ruby :)
bye debjed
{{soodle}}
Bye leavers (((())))
I would be thrilled with banges and mash or shepherds' pie, instead get ersatz Fr/Italian
Oooh - bangers & mash. (and beans)....
lol, mine will be traditional Sunday roast, in lovely local pub.
oh yes, mouth is watering
sounds good, Sally
I make a mean shepherds pie ruby, for when you visit :-)
any clues for either of the 9 lettered words
di 8/50 and plural for di 9/66
can u give me NY CLUES
sorry caps lock went on
There's a word please in my dictionary, so no I can't.
please
First four letters are first four letters of a precious jewel, followed by the word which means "before" as in a.m. and p.m.
ty
have u got any clues for the se9 please
No, that's the only 9 I have.
se9: your friend on the chair.
Oh! ty Dachef.
ty
That led me to the prisoners too :-)
nice! Compound city today.
Is anybody here?
I'm lurking here Scrabb, good morning
I am lurking also. Good morning Scrab and Pab
Hi pab. Have you heard from our buddies east of us, in the snowstorm areas? Hi Mom.

27.8 inches in PLainfield, MA.

Warm temps will melt it this wk.
I hope it doesn't cause major flooding issues
time to get busy, I'll be in and out. It is laundry day.
So good to see you Scrab and Pab. Have a great day

Scrabs was telling us about Mass. earlier. That is a shocker

Yes, I was very surprised...Hope Trif is okay
27.1 inches of snow
hard to believe in october
wow! and wet snow, I'll bet!
and car.eeyore
a lot of power outages as well
Trif is close to Boston but nrkii's mother is on the western part of MA--good thing she departed by train early yesterday and went to stay with nrkii.
4 mi. from the ocean, we had only a dusting in Norwell
Clue for that AT word please?
that is a very good thing
hi Grant
there's a babbler in Northhampton but I can't remember who it is
Hi grant. Trif is on Norwell too.
Yeah, we've made the connection
My NJ sister departed Fri evening instead of yesterday so made it here safely. We are going to go for a hike in the woods and must get layers on to stay warm.
Doren's power is out
oh poor Dorens

Hi ruby :)
COLD, but fine. I am trying to get motivated to clean the house. Yes, sitting here babbling ought to do it!
so cheered to see so many dear, familiar friends chogging!
and none of us doing housework!
believe me, ruby, if you saw my house you would understand!
I can't imagine a house without dog footprints....
I try teaching them to wipe their feet, but if husband won't, how can I expect it of the dogs
taught husband 38 years ago to wipe feet and he knows he better! lol
main
sorry, pb for me

hi all
hey, peri :-)
hi, peri and une!
hi sue
howdy, sue! :-)
are you in a winter wonderland like dorens??
not sure I like this grid, although I haven't spent enough time with it to be sure :-)
snow is mostly melted here but it was a mess yesterday and this am
no, I'm in Illinois, une, yesterday was lovely if cool, and today is grey and blustery, but no snow
ah, glad to year you are ok, peri!
way, way too early for snow here
glad things are better, peri
I HATE snow/ice
I will call my dad tomorrow (he is in NJ) to make sure he is managing (which I am sure he is)
we've had snow here on Halloween before, but it isn't much fun (kids don't like having to wear winter coats on top of their costumes!)
why not call him today, sue?
whatever happend with his wife, sue?
haven't had trick or treaters here for several years -- new family in duplex down the street said they'd probably show up with their dog so I DO have some candy "just in case" LOL
well, I just had a long talk with him on Friday, and if the power's out his phones won't work (although I suppose I could call his cell phone)
as far as I know his wife (now ex) is fine, une. Their divorce was final earlier this month.
brand new baby on either side of me so SOME day there WILL be kids looking for treats LOL
(oops, that was peri that asked, sorry)
:-D
and he is ok with that?
dorens is in NJ and someone (Annie?) said earlier that she had no power . . . brrrrr
no, he doesn't like it a bit, but there isn't anything he can do about it so he's going on with his life.
there is a boy next door and at leasst 2 kids across the street but none of them have tricked or treated
yes, she posted yesterday on facebook that her power was out, and big trees were down in her yard (she had a picture of them)
my great nephew who is 2 is supposed to come round later today
so many folks in Nashville take their kids to the mall or to "Trunk or Treat" parties
that sounds like a good idea, Une
ah, we are in a small residential neighborhood in a small town, so we still get a fair number of kids coming around
oh, that's cool, sue!
i HATE Halloween too, never did trick or treating as a kid, dont know what we were not allowed to
i grew up in a small town . . . we collected for UNICEF, then went door to door trick or treating :-)
not liking this grid, bbl
we always trick-or-treated; when I was little my mother made all my costumes
bye, peri! I don't like it either :-)
i still have an elaborate black and orange clown costume my mom made me a million yrs ago :-)
me too, sue!
my costumes are all long gone, but i still have some pictures (notable one of me in a penguin costume)
yes, this is a tres sucky grid
how fun, sue LOL
maybe I will use it as my icon tomorrow - should be able to take a picture of it with my phone, assuming I can find it
worst halloween ever was the year I was really sick and had to stay home and hand out the candy . . . bummer
ick! I remember being sick on Christmas, but I don't think I was ever sick on Halloween
<---Wants to take Peri trick-or-treating. Halloween is fun for kids (and grown up kids) Peri. I'm sorry you missed out on that.
the really little kids are so cute! and they are usually very shy - I have to hand them their candy :-)
i agree, molly -- was lots of fun . . . hmmm . . . have pix to select from for icon tomorrow :-)
My kids were always told this, before we left for trick-or-treating..."If I don't hear you say THANK YOU, you will get no candy when we get home." *Evil Mother*
I remember when my son was about 2 - a lady down the street held out an apple to him. He looked at it for a bit, then his finger came out and pushed it away :-) (I apologized to her and took it)
LOLOLOL!!!
i saw on the news that there's an uber religious group handing out Bibles instead of candy . . . sheesh
when I lived in Oklahoma (close to 30 years ago now) there were parents objecting to Halloween decorations and parties in the schools - they thought it was Satanic (having never lived in the South before, I was astounded)
oh, sue, i used to work for a religious nonprofit and there were some ladies who felt that way - I decorated myself and my office anyway -- am sure they figured I was going straight to hell! LOL
I monkeyed Ghandi's name and lo...
go, kap!!!!!!!!!!!
Because it's not a name, it's a title.
How bout that.
we had a Dia de los Muertos / Samhain ceremony this morning - remembering those who have died - usually I am able to keep my composure during these things but today I completely lost it :-(
Trailer for sale or rent, rooms to let 50 cents
No food no phone no pets
ain't got no cigarettes...
since I lost my mom in January, the least little thing gets me choked up . . . am hoping that will improve gradually . . .
I'm a man of means by no means
King of the Road!
king of the road!!
oh, une, I'm sure it will! although it can take a surprisingly long time
Oh...I would have something to say about my kid getting a Bible for trick-or-treat.
Roger Miller
Most of my loved ones died in January-not considering how much I hate standing in the cold.
(((Une)))
hey, seaspray!!
I haven't lost a close relative since my sister died in 2001, and as I say, mostly I have gotten through the grief but sometimes it hits me
Hey Unea
Sue, I think those occasions are just a nice window to let out what you've been keeping in. Glad you got one.
my sister died in January 2001, kap, and she lived in New Hampshire - the ground then is too frozen to dig graves so she wasn't buried until June - it was like starting the grieving process all over again. Not fun.
Parents- it's been a while though. Nephew. My good friend lost both parents within 2 weeks of each other in January ...
indeed, molly, it seems to have been what I needed
hi, sea!
Two hours of pushing broom buys a 8x12 four-bit room...
Such is life. How are things in Salem, Seaspray?
Hi Sue...am into this football game...driving me crazy!
Maggie Daniels biological mother--really?
I was a little surprised to see that athame is not a word in Enable's dictionary...
And they're only spent a week or two searching- instead of 6 months?
I am thinking things in Salem are about to change lol
which game, sea? (can you tell I am not a big sports fan?)
Oh yeah, the Maggie/Daniel thing...just plain dumb
Raven and Cardinals Sue
oops Ravens even
Sports...soaps...politics...
ah, thanks, sea :-)
who is Maggie Daniels?
I do sports and soaps...stay away from politics lol
Maggie and Daniel are 2 characters on Days of our Lives
Excuse me- typo. As in Maggie- Daniel's biological mother?
ah. Fortunately I don't have to ask what Days of our Lives is although I don't think I've ever watched it.
my grandmother was so into "As the World Turns," she would send birthday cards to the characters! LOL
See, Daniel found out a long time ago that he was Melanie's real father, and now apparently Maggie is going to be her real grandmother. Which makes her future step grandfather her ex-father-in-law. Wait. Her biological mother had also been married to her ex-father-in-law/future step grandfather, if you follow me
thats funny Unea
sea, did you get much snow??
Ha ha, Une.
5 or 6 inches...what a mess yesterday..we were at my fathers farm setting up for a halloween party..snow, sleet, rain
jeezomeez
yuck, une! I hope it all melts soon!
if it's on a farm will there be a hayride?
Don't ask her why she needs to be so free/ she'll tell you it's the only way to be...
You all get the benefit of my mp3 player.
There's no time to lose I heard her say. Cast your dreams before they slip away.
ah, mine has mostly Leonard Cohen on it, kap
ahh, we usually do a (believe this or not) zoo tram ride . Tractor hooked up to a zoo tram lol but not this year
Dying all the time-lose your dreams and you will lose your mind/in life unkind
I had an unhealthy crush on Leonard Cohen when I was in high school
aahhh, love me some Leonard Cohen . . .
sounds like fun, sea :-)
I still have an unhealthy crush on him, kap!
when I was in high school, Pam Carlton and I would go down in her basement, turn off the lights, and listen to the Beatles
it is, my father got the trams from the Baltimore zoo when they got new ones
then dylan said I had to choose one or the other
listening to Night Comes On - good Day of the Dead song
sea, that's amazing!
ooh, very cool, sea!
he also loans them to Lions club when they are in the local firemans parade..so they do get some use
Who remembers the summer of Sergeant pepper? Who remembers what they had for breakfast this morning?
excellent!
cool about the trams.
oh, kap, I was a student in France the summer of Sergeant Pepper -- the memories!!!!!!!!!!!
There will never be anything like "the summer of Sgt. Pepper" again- too many people listen to too much crappy music from too many sources. It was fun to share major cultural events with one's peers...
sergeant pepper and micro-minis and thigh high boots! LOL
ah, Leonard Cohen is singing I'm Your Man now - sigh...
Like the one night a year that The Wizard of Oz was on TV (in b&w) and everyone would stay home and watch...
LOOOVVVED his soundtrack to McCabe and Mrs. Miller
yes yes yes!!
I didn't see it in color till college...
I am a geezer!
and Peter Pan was on once a year too!
me too, kap! LOL
my mom and I would watch together and clap like crazy to save Tinkerbell!!!!
Yeah, and we didn't notice the wires in Peter Pan. Or how totally gay Cyril Ritchard played Captain Cook.
oh, I know -- he was WONDERFUL
Totally went right by me.
Yeah, but he was camping it up and we didn't even notice.
Captain Hook, my dear :-)
Wait a minute.
oh my goodness...this game was tied and we just we just won with no time left!!
wow, sea!!
That was a nail biter! phew
Hook Sorry. duh: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cv6dIA9 HUC8
here it is: www.youtube.com/watch?v=cv6dIA9HUC8

I loved The Wizard of Oz
oh, me too, sea . . . and I looked a LOT like Dorothy LOL
my daughter was Dorothy one year for trick or treating...She still dresses up for halloween and she is 25 and pregnant. I told her to go as a pumpkin or beach ball this year.
pumpkin would be good, sea :-)
:-D
She dresses up to hand out candy to the kids now
a preggo friend of mine went as a chef. and on her belly was a sign, "bun in the oven"
how funny, leslieann!! LOL
cute, leslie!
thats cute leslieann
that's FW for me . . .and I'm off to pull a few weeds . . . enjoyed the stroll down memory lane :-) *poof*
yay, une!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
you have to really hang in there to watch the Captain Hook clip to catch the flamboyance
ah - I gave up at the Campbell's soup commercial

everybody is ok, though, which is good!

By the way, congratulations to all the finishers! YAY!
yaaa crossy has both 9,s!..does happy dance...
hello min happily babbling..how about you?
I'm well.I'm starting to work on today's story of clues.
good job crossy..don't hurt yourself
48 left, bbs
reminds me,i have been remiss ,so without further fanfare,i give you the staggeringly popular crossys tidbit of the day!!!
While the crew of Apollo 13 didn’t get to make their scheduled Moon landing, they did set a record that still stands: they’re the humans who traveled the furthest distance from the Earth (nearly 250,000 miles).
good one crossy
not bad on one tank of gas eh? lol
huh, moon must have been at apogee
wonder what that would be in gallons of gas?
or liquid nitrogen as the case may be
aww I didn't see that crossy..we must think alike
mm have to remember a gallon first..mmm..how may cubits in a gallon again? lol
oxygen, actually, I think
I saw the movie..do you know the date?
i do not
must have been around 1972
I was thinking about then too
Apollo 8 (the first one that landed) was in 1969 (I remember it well)
and think on this peeps, they did all that with less that 1 gig of computing power..less than on most modern cell phones
a LOT less, I think!
was in hospital for Apollo 11 3rd daughter just born
i thing it was just a few hundred meg or less sue
such a shame the program is over
now we all have to hitch a ride with the soviets
well it was time to retire the shuttle but we should have had the next thing ready to go
sadly the states cannot afford a big flashy space program at this time
some things should take priority
maybe some private companies will step up
here NASA is encouraging private designers to think up the next wonder space craft..think prize is a million dollars
snap
I hate to think the age of exploration is over
Do you also ha 4/5 the idea of being se 4/4 to the PB?
not me, there are usually nice treats in there!
off I go
we had a fella here who managed to get a balloon and a cheap camera up into orbit, burn up it,s roll of film and land again with the camera intact..NASA was wuite interested to see shots that normally thiers alone taken with 700 dollars worth of cobbled together parts
quite
I've seen more than one video like that, crossy, very cool!
There is NASA in Canada?
you should give it a shot sue, thats right up yer alley
i am speaking of nasa as a shared thing molly..you know we do not have one...
there have been several Canadian astronauts, haven't there?
believe it or not molly they actually work with us northern yokels as well:)
there have indeed sue
... There have been about 6 Canadians go up in the shuttle programme
Hi doseffing! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid
hi, dos!
I knew there was a CSA, I just misunderstood a comment earlier.
... greetings from chilly Whitby
np,they do speak with us:)perhaps they want some freeze dried bacon for the next flights;)
or maple syrup...
naw..gets the instrument panels all sticky...
you know they were not allowed bread up there? tacos only or other flat breads
... too many crumbs ... don't want to breathe them ...
yuppers
that was so much fun,you all get a second tidbit today!!
Mozart’s “Ah! Vous Dirai-je, Maman†might well be his most popular melody — it’s the tune used in both “The Alphabet Song†and “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star
didn't he compose it when he was 6?
not sure westford,i would have to wiki it
... I'll check ... but I think he was a bit older than that
he was 25
and it seems there are 12 variations of the tune
aww I always thought he was 6
can anyone translate the title?
Ah! I shall tell you, Mama
... I believe ... WHat will you say to me, mama ... but ask rubyfoo to be sure
thanks crossy and dos I got you and Mama
see below:)
... yeah ... it's dirai-je ... that's what will I say ...
I was ad7/36 about at 6/18ing my goal of completing grid today with power or no power. Now th 4/5 goal has been accomplished so here is a story. I never ha 4/5ed Halloween when I was little. My ma4/6 made my costume for me every year. She sewed all the se5/12 together and created great costumes. Each year her costumes were better th 4/5 the previous year. She even made costumes for our pet mu 4/6. Mom always se 4/4 us out with my Dad to go trick-or-treating so she could stay at home in 6/21 and give out candy to trick-or-treaters. I remember one year I dressed up as a chamberma4/5. My friend, na 4/5d Ja 4/9, and I went trick-or-treating up & down Ma 4/5 Street. We obta4/4ed a lot of candy that year. Ja4/9 and I filled up our wa4/9s w/candy. Good evening Babblers.
Hi Wht. Are you buried in snow?
We only got about 5 inches here, but central and western Mass got buried.
We were lucky, we only lost power for about 4.5 hours and that was in the middle of the night.
Oh good. I wasn't sure where you were in Mass and I heard parts got clobbered.
Still, there were trees and power lines down on the streets on either side of us.
I could here branches cracking during the night. We only lost a large branch from a maple tree and a couple of branches from our lilacs.
Too early for snow.
That seems to be a pretty universal opinion around here.
Congratulations cosdem on fireworks! Hooray for you
Hello wht! How are you doing? Welcome to the puzzle.
Hi Min
Does anyone have a clue for the second a in the first column for nbt?
The at 6/21 word is at plus vowel plus not female wht.
at 7/32 word is plural of the at 6/21 word I clued wht
at5/12 word is at plus not female and at 6/21 is plural
ty Min
yw
Those seem to come from the first a. I need the one below that.
shirl u around
at 6/18 word means to get something and then plural
ty Min
I seemed to have missed the double letter theren
Second at 7/28 word is like first one, but ends with a different letter and then plural it for an at8/40 word.

So I just made 80 Halloween treat bags.I hope that is enough. Last year had to goto store&get more candy
hi everyone. the town I live in is called ad7/36
Th 4/5 is second time today I spilled th 4/5 word. I'm already in the PB for it.I guess I won't be getting out of the PB anytime soon. I will continue to clue from PB
Hello Eva! How are you doing? Welcome to the puzzle.
I wonder if the singer Ad7/36 was born there as well.
thank you. doing well, if a bit shocked by the sudden winter, like so many othrs
no-never even heard of him until I tried giving my address to younger people
how are you min?
Heard Vermont didn't get as much snow as New York.
I am well.Just finished filling 80 baggies for Halloween.
no-only a few inches, and since our leaves were pretty much all gone it wasn't half as destructive
i miss the trick or treaters from the city. here the kids all go into town because there are too many miles between houses.
Hi Eva.
hi wht
used to live in JP wht
found our cat, the one in the photo, at the Arlington Alliance for Animals
I never realized leaves add a lot more weight to trees
well they catch and hold the snow, which was a very wet one
It isn't the weight of the leaves, Min, so much as there is much more area for the snow to stick to. It is the snow that is heavy.
My backyard and frontyard looks like a war zone now
Did you loose power, min?
DUH! Stupid me. You gave a very logical answer wht.
No, thank God. Didn't lose powerful which is why I am here. The power flickered off and on but it stayed on
But wet leaves can be pretty heavy by themselves. So it all adds up.
ad clues?
ad 7/36 is the name of a popular 80s singer Shirlockc.
shirl u wanna a recapnow?
The ad7/36 also means utterly unyielding in attitude or opinion Shirlockc.
ooo yes pls cos
our town was named that way back when because it had a granite quarry where the granite was of exceptional hardness
and thx for the ad clues
I am off to take a shower. I will return to get my last 3 words. Story in profile if you need it while I'm away.

Hi UU
Hi, wht!
di8?
da4,6 good question, shirl.
Starts off like an engagement ring
Ends sort of like a sting ray but with a different final vowel
sting ray?
The fish with big flaps
Also known as a m.... ray
I think that is the spanish name for the jewel.
May very well be, wht
oh, that word for a sting ray
thx uu and wht
di8 = Spanish jewel.
Yw, sorry for being so confused
And don't forget the plural
got them both, demolished the d
clue for the en7, plz
Sorry, don't have it on my screen, wht
My phone won't scroll the word list or the chat
OK, uu
Maybe my monkeys will wake up later.
Hi Everybody. wht; the en7 is an extension of the en5/12; just add the Brit greeting to it
I think mine have decamped to a different planet
Hi, nef! And I remember that now that you mention it.
ty nef
Hello Nef! How are you doing? Welcome to the puzzle.
Hi, min!
"reading back in the chog; what happened to your glasses sue?" was not found in the dictionary......Dang, having a hard time tonight
Hello uusue2!How are you? Welcome back to the chog

Sorry for getting your name wrong, shirl, my phone is trying to spell for me
amazing episode..
oh, man! I'd be totally blind trying to fix something up close like that (I've actually sat on my glasses -more than once through the years!- and knocked out the lenses doing that. Luckily, DH can see without his glasses for close up stuff; but he can't see a darn thing farther than 3-4 feet without them. We complement each other in so many ways! :-)
no prob, i knew who you were talking about :)
Shirl, perhaps you and crossy should get together and cook up some pig.
hi cos and shirl
I can see really close right now, probably I should go help him.
And hi, cos!
i had dinner and i'm still salivating watching this show
I just hope we have a teeny enough screwdriver. I'll be sunk tomorrow without my glasses.
DH has used the tip of a pen knife to fix mine before
clue for the ma7 please.
He tried that but it wasn't small enough.
evening all
Evening jes.
Hi, jes!
how about the tip of a cuticle scissors? (trying to think of something tiny enough)

Of course, you also need to get another pair of reading glases so you can see to fix your reading glasses.

hope she had a wonderful time
but it's always nice to get back home
I really don't know if she got back yesterday (to tell the truth) but she talked about it last night. She had some allergy scares; so I think she's very glad to be home
that's too bad
she and her mom took a road trip didn't they? that's really nice
May I please have a clue for te5-10 the 2nd? Thanks
yes. I've had mother-daughter run-aways with my dtr. since she was 13 (she's 29 now) and we are due for another one asap. It really helps a relationship to do that
I don't have it yet; peach
I have a state of nervousness peach but might not be the 2nd
Thanks anyway, Nef.

i am just vintage on the ladder!
I am about to cop it from my daughter... is halloween night and she made all these 'arrangements' with her friends that were never finalized with me... all of a sudden, i find out there is a 'party' here???? hell no!!
and her excuse for inviting people to a party??? "Well, mum never said 'no'" argh!!
oh, wow, mrp! Good Luck!
I guess that would be the trick.. not the treat...
yeah thanks, cause I have 'idiot' written across my forehead right now!
ooooh, the car pulled up and there are massive slamming of doors... and thundering footsteps up the stairs
how old is she?
13 (and a half - don't forget the half!!)... and we have tears!
and nef, apparently she is old enough to know bloody everything and we are idiots and ruining her social life. Gotta love them! :))
(((mrp))) my dtr was 13 when I instituted the girls run-away where the 2 of us would pack a bag and leave (no electronics allowed). It didn't have to cost much at all, but being in the car with no interruptions allows a great talk

so I gather, mrp (I looked back in the chog) -- 13½ is a tough age. I was that age when my dad was imprisoned in Hong Kong.
sitting here drinking yellow tail pinot noir and not thinking about it
