I have found a wonderful way to cook ribs. I season them and put them in the slow cooker, with no liquid added, and cook them on low for five or six hours. Add barbecue sauce during the last half hour of cooking. They are so tender, and very flavorful.

It was in NW Minnesota (Hockey Country) and we walked down to the rink along the railroad track; in our skates! We'd shovel off the rink and it might be 20 to 40 below and the pot belly stove in the warming house was so nice! (Even with the smell of wet wool!)

On PC's I think once you hit the eject button you will see a small pop-up from the icon saying that it's safe to remove the device too. (trying to think of the differences from a Mac)

That's right, and that's what I've done, Nef -- but I started over, did all that I should (I thought) but still nothing happens when I plug it in to the desktop, except that the little icon for ejecting appears in the bottom toolbar, and I was invited to choose a destination -- but after that I tired Paste but got the URL elegant had posted for their bedroom. .

with non mac rigs i find that jump drive(and thumb drives) are auto recognized when using windows 7

Crossy, I wanted to move an MSPub file from my laptop to my desktop -- Windows 7 on both. I have a USB stick and did copy from the laptop onto it, as far as I know. But now I'm trying to put it onto my desktop and the stick is plugged in.
ok,unplug the stick..then go to my computer and take not of the drive and the letters assigned,then insert the stick then take note of the letter added

I was told by a guy (who was a co-worker and old book collector) that these are pretty rare; but the leather covers are disintegrating. I also love books too and just want to preserve these (my kids got them in the alley when they were little; someone was throwing them out probablty because of the condition of the covers

if you think they are worth the expense, by all means, but be aware, rebinding or major repairs will lower their collector value (if you care about that)
3/4 leather means leather over the spine and tips of the boards, with the boards otherwise covered in paper (or cloth)
you don't have to get leather, of course, you can get inexpensive cloth or even more inexpensive paper-over-boards
The leather is really disintegrating; I've carefully stored them away in a box (on the main floor for temp control) because the leather turns to dust. They seem to be from the 10th century and all of the characters in the plays are famous actors from that era, all lithograph prints and highly Victorian pictures

what you have might be red rot, which is (this is not a technical definition) leather that is so dry it flakes off when you touch it. i'm not an expert on that, but i've heard there's really no cure for it, so rebinding is the only option
