still short 3 to5s
yqw that was my last also arb
oh, eventually, jess -- just moseying along while sobering up, lol!
do you have the hairpiece cos
are we of an age to remember the fears?
cos isn't old enough for a hairpiece
I remember getting the shots arb
lining up in the armory
me to
metoo
a little before me arb, but had several friends who were crippled by it
hairpiece? the to 5/12 is a hat wron in the tropics -- my dad wore one.
oops sorry my bad
I remember BEFORE shots when we were not allowed to leave our backyards all summer.
wow have only read of that... we should remind the young folks of that... too many not being vaccinated...
I have a friend who has post-po5 syndrome -- she must have been one of the last to get the disease and was 18 months old at the time.
old diseases will be popping up again
I caught everything as a kid.. measles, chicken pox..you name it
punitis?
me, too, but somehow I missed mumps that goodness
that too
LOL
no cure for that dart
And now stupid people refuse to vaccinate -- no bldy excuse for that -- so selfish
thank, not that...
I got everything except diphtheria
young people think they are indestructible
I totally agree jili... have gotten into big arguments with some good friends, but it is so idiotic
no vaccine would stop punitis here jilli
they refuse to vaccinate their pets too, achhh.
if they choose not to vaccinate their kids, then they should be kept home
ruru..just wait until alz. kicks in..then we will hear the same ones over and over again (kind of do now anyways) lol
<---needs to work on new material
ruru your audience is always changing
gaah..auto correct is here now..almost typed guru
I had several good ones the other dat
day
ruru, it's incurable and virulent -- my son is a victim and has spread it to his kids -- it's called paranomasia, much classier than punitis
here in Virginia, you may not enroll in any public school, even at the university level, without standard childhood vaccinations. My age group had to get MMR again in college because the batch we got as kids was found to be ineffective.
one day at a time ruru
jilli, the Post Polio Syndrome is just the pits. I went through my life as if nothing was wrong with me. And about 10 years ago I started losing strength and was tired way to often.....didn't pay a lot of attention to it until a doctor said I had this PPS. I rushed to puter and read up on it. It seems that in the first go-round the virus sort of "fried" parts of our brains.....and not to write a tome here, I'm still getting around.....hard to bring a good woman down.
even babblerabble would have cracked up
oh, so sorry, peach -- and I bet you do your best to beat it down, like my indomitalbe pal.
oh peach so sorry but good for you !
don't like hearing about "fried" parts..
that's rough peach, but it sounds like you have a good, and informed, attitude, and will do your best with it
hah, just over halfway
so glad you are so tenacious and strong of mind and will peach
my mil passed from post polio syndrome. She was pregnant when she contracted the disease in 1952 spent most of her pregnancy in an iron lung - they had to wean her a few minutes at a time so she could be taken out to deliver my husband - the family calls him the miracle baby. hard to take calling a 6'5" 230 lb man a miracle baby
ruru I think bab laughs a lot
yeah jilli
really west.. he seems so serious to me all the time
sure sounds like one, though, beth
Thanks to all of you. Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers and I will do the same for you.
missing one of the last 2 pe 5/12s and my monkeys have retired

but of course, peach :)
one is a plural nan
his humor is very dry ruru
the last pe 5 is a plural
thanks peach..your name fits you
there's only one

i've been finally unpacking the last of the boxes from the move 3 years ago. The cat is not happy at the disruption to routine. Ah, well, she will adjust

i need the 2nd to 5/12 is what i meant
Oh, bethn. I remember seeing the iron lungs. Horrible times....but we made it this far...gosh, I just remembered it was 1940 (I was 2). The doctors told my parents that I would not walk again. But no one told me and so I did.
that's a hair -wig cos
i did not appreciate her as a young bride, i married her only child and she was a little "much". as I look back at her with some distance and wisdom she was terribly brave
for the follically challenged
i have that one. i guess i needed the first to5/12
good on them for not telling you, peach :) I'm betting they actually helped and encouraged you to do so again.
a clue for one of the last 2 to 5/12's please -- have the plural of Ed Sullivan's mouse
most of star in french is the to5
or just short of a bathroom fixture
and star in French is a fabric patten
there is a whole photo album documenting her illness - I dont know why she let them take her photo, it is unimaginable to have to go thru that
I really hated that mouse
me too
thought ruru would say that is what you go to the bathroom to do
Ed Sullivan was a weirdo
wasnt the mouse topo?
bethn, i 'have pictures of Tom post-open heat surgery, at his request, including writhing in pain immediately post-up in the step-down unit as they were readying his meds.
ah ha found it

so what is the other one of the last 2 to 5/12's?

change last letter nan
i need the 2nd to last to5/12

people then were made of sterner stuff - she made a friend in hospital who lost the use of her arms due to po5. she became adept at painting with her feet - my mil had pictures hanging in her home from her

morning all - has anyone posted clues?
hi all
will post clues now
In Vollymomdee mare.... Hi mrp xx
mari even sorry dislexic fingers
Clues are up
thanks a million mrp
Thanks mrp
mr p where abouts are the clues ?
hi ron. do you have babble expert?
no mr p
if you want it, email me from my addy in my profile.
you can click on friends of babble below the puzzle, there is a link to lickety's babble clues there
i mean email my addy, sorry
email sent.
ok, will get it going ron
sent ron
there is a bit of chat there, good to read it and know what it is about, but ready to play now and read later if you want. mrp x
got it will read and digest, thank you.
Lickety`s babble clues show a serious viral attack in mozilla firefox.
yep, it does in google as well, it is a trusted and tried exe from a reliable source
ask around babble if you like ron, before installing :)
i`ve got it up and running thank you.
i have been trying to work out why it says that in google and firefox... just don't know. there is no virus in the program and it works well :)
you're very welcome ron. enjoy it!
i initially was informed lickety was down due to web page fund not renewed, then the virus warning comes up each time i try and log in.
have you been able to log in?
i have just retried it and it now works okay ..veerrrry strange.
i paid for the page earlier in the week... darn message
use 'lickety add' button... you can resize it and move it to suit you... if you add one word and enter, it will go to the list and to babble... if you add more than one word... it recognises it as a message and will add to the chat log
if the word is in the grid, you will get a green flash background in lickety add.
dont
don't add a real word, and you get a red flash if it is a word already entered, it is an orange flash
i hope your not paying latvians as they cloned my c/c last year after a payment to a "USA" website.luckily they could`nt break my password.
oh that sucks ron!! so so sorry! i hope your bank sorted them out!
my passwords are so obscure, good luck to any latvian!
yes they did but i was stuck in california for a month with no way to pay and my bank would only give me $2k in cash ,we had a frugal vacation.
once you have resized and moved 'lickety add', click on Hide 'Add' Thin
you will have a dialog box and word enter box all in one. any words you add from the grid will go to both clues list and babble
oh ron!! i am sorry that happened... hate rip offs. it happens to too many nice people
ok mr p will sort that out thanks again.
see ya ron... time to eat :) *hugs*
is there a list anywhere else? still getting the attack message
jayk just click on the accept bar in right hand corner.
there is no virus, i don't know why it keeps saying there is, but there is no virus in it
we're positive this is OK?
jayk, it is my program, and it is ok... i and dr.g can vouch for that, otherwise he and I would have disabled it
good morning everyone !! hope you are all doing well
hi deb :)
I trust you! Here we go then..
is a little grid, but a toughie me thinks! and why can't i find the se8!
any clues for the z's?
z with all vowels deb, then plural
i think it is a flower?
mrp, I thought you'd be all done by now :)
ha! there is a lot of po** words that I am not finding! lol!
and the plural of zo is a latin plural ending
stumbled over the pi7 :)
cause you can never have enough e's in one word
thank you finally got it :)
can i have clues for all the words? hee hee . just kidding :)
sure! min probably put a story together in her bio! she could put all the words into one story!
omg... how could i not see the compounds of to8 and se8.... same ending pi5
I've seen her do that before :)
foot digit ring? and ocean item?
thank you!!!!
how about clues for the o in the top row?
and how are you and your family mrp? I hope everything is working out for you!!!
ol + rearrange the word for frozen water

good morning Gwen

i know what you mean, Gwen. kinda hopping it would have been a monster...it's too cold to go outside...12°F
brrr
that is frigid, lbd. I hope it warms up
'morning folks

morning Welki
cold here, too (-5F) ... winter's here
well, it is nearly the end of November and I do live in the Northwest mountains...however, I would like it to be a titch warmer...30 would be nice
its 4C here
morning, welki! are your lakes frozen yet?
the northern ones have some ice, to the south, they're starting to film over. even the bow river is starting to show ice along the banks
the slough in my backyard is frozen over. has some wave action frozen in time
ok..gone to make coffee.. and toast up a bagel...then.. essays here i come...
wow, how cool is that? you must have had some decent winds when the temps were very, very low

bye, carlee
bye carlee. have fun studying
yeah, we've had the winds.
and my new phantom is: pileup
my phantom is tapioca
mine is papoose
good ones!
I must be off as well. Going to tackle the grocery shopping. I didn't get to go on Thursday. I am hoping going early it won't be too crowded
see you later, mom
have fun Mom. i hate grocery shopping.
bye bye Welki
I love grocery shopping. Just don't know how I'll do on a Saturdaly
blech .. i hate shopping, any kind
you sound like my sweetie, Welki
i go early to beat the crowds and the feeders.
i usually go on sunday (no time during the week)
i'm not much for shopping of any kind either, welki.
makes me wonder how it is i spend so much money if i'm never shopping?
<---- I should be a personal shopper for the two of you
I would love that, Mom!
you'll need lots of airmiles, mom .. we're both more than a thousand miles away! *lol*
I would too
this is true but if I lived close by
(what i really want is someone to clean my house)
Hubz is the clothes horse, me...i guess it would be books.
clean house? my rule is. You touch it, You dust it!
:-( finished.
ohhh, that would just be a way to ensure that the dust is evenly distributed here, dawg ... we'd touch nothing! LOLOL
finished the grid??
BOOKS? <perk>
it is a tiny grid, dawg ... thinking i should save some for later
yup! i have a lot of books. nothing worthy of a collector tho
if you need any more, my bookstore is having a sale right now (details here: www.gwenfoss.com ) 8-)
i'll check it out, gwen.
i have old books, gwen, and i'd like to sell them (because my children are not interested in them) .. but it's my understanding that very few books are worth more than sentimental value if no one is looking for them
welki, that's about it. i have one old wreck i keep around to show people that "old don't matter" in books
that's so true, whilst going thru my dad's stuff; i found a lot of old books. not worth anything to anyone else but him. Libraries didn't want them either. :-(
so what do i do with books that are nearly 200 years old and in good condition? just donate them?
i go through lotta books, donate a lot. libraries and charities get my castoffs
Have wonderful OLD books from my mom's childhood (1920s) that no one's very interested in but moi . . .
200 yrs old? wow, welki!
hi unea!
hey, dawg :-)
i think the oldest one i have is from 1811
if they are truly in good condition, that's a plus. but if they are books no one wants to read (example: novels by a "nobldy") then no one will buy them
ohh ... that would make it 200! happy birthday!
("nobody" i meant)
welki, that's amazing
welki, can you tell me iwf they're novels, elementary school books, or what?
maybe put them up on ebay, welki
if you have any history or songbooks, i might be interested to buy them . . .
hmmm, she must be getting them out . . .
i just ran and picked four random books .. william cullen bryant, a flood of years, 1878, very good condition
hi welki - I just had an idea - all this takes work, of course - my sister went to William Cullen Bryant H.S. (in Queens) - I bet there are a bunch of them out there - maybe they would like a copy an original....
bryant, sorry, you won't be able to sell, unless there is something very special about it (signed, for example)
yep, i was .. these aren't as old, leather bound complete shakespeare and two leather bound volumes of works of wilde and dumas, 1926 and 1927 *figures i picked 'new' ones)
not to sell, I mean, but to at least to give to someone who may appreciate it
jbv, that's a great idea!
hang on, grabbing a couple more
for the wilde and dumas, condition needs to be very good, and if they have anything extra (very nice illustrations, or annotations, or something) then you have a chance to sell them
a suede bound emerson, 1900
condition on the leather/suede, i would consider fair (for the covers, good for the pages and illustrations)
welki, sorry, no on the emerson.
going to go scrounge for brekkies. bbl
and, for fun, newer, but two walt kellys ... pogo, stepmother goose and the glob :)
around 1900 they published millions of those suede-bound poetry books. no one wants them, sorry
good to know, gwen, don't be sorry ... i won't feel too badly about giving them away ... maybe i can find some poetry/lit students or professors who might like them
pogo and mother goose, now, there are collectors for those, but any defects will lower their potential price (like scribbles or torn pages)
welki, I feel the same way about Mother's children's books -- someone who would appreciate them -- some have gorgeous illustrations . . .
have to run, good luck, welki -
hi and bye, jbv :-)
only defects .. small tear on the jacket to the glob and small triangular tear on the cover of stepmother goose
oops, i read too fast, that's a pogo mother goose, not a regular mother goose
yes, pogo, stepmother goose, a weird parody
welki, if you are near a large city, you should be able to find a used bookstore where you can get a free appraisal on these.
call first to make sure, and bring children's books with gorgeous illustrations, and the pogo books. they might want some of the poetry but it's a longshot
i appreciate the advice, gwen ... and une? it's so difficult to part with them, but yes, if i found someone who'd appreciate them and take care of them, i'd happily hand them over
same here . . .
i specialize in history, science, music (songbooks), and carry very little literature. but as a collector i go for mother goose parodies . . .
we do have Bookman/Bookwoman independent bookseller . . . and they DO have someone who'll appraise -- may take some there soon just out of curiosity if nothing else
oiks ... darned suede ... now my white tee shirt has rust colored marks you know where ... looks like one of those prank-aprons
back in a mo *poof*
gwen .. songbooks .. i have a load of Sing Out mags
your sude book has red rot (!) handle with gloves, and store it in between sheets of acid-free paper, if you can
my library gave them to me when they were getting rid of them
oh, i have loads of sing out too, LOL
what years sing out1 welk and hi all
red rot? maybe time to get rid of the book?
hi owl ... will dig them out later and let you know
that's the term for when old leather starts to flake. i don't know anything about the chemistry of that, just what a mess it can be
don't go to any trouble. some folk song societies might want them
i have sold books with red rot, don't think it's toxic or anything
somewhat of a resurgence in fok esp of the protest kind currently
i'm pretty sure it's how it was when i got the book, gwen ... i store the books on wooden shelves in a glassed cabinet and live in calgary (cool and dry), so maybe it won't get any worse than it did when they were in new york
it'll get worse, but very slowly
i wonder if canada has free medical for books with red rot? lol
probably not covered *mwahgroan*
there's chemical description of red rot on wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_rot_% 28leather%29
whew .. thought i killed the chat with bad punnery
finally found a 7 woot
ive been looking, too ... one blog suggests celugel for leather red rot (no remarks on what it might do to suede) - no matter, it will remain untreated
Morning all
hi mr bob
any treatment will alter the appearance, and lower the collector value, but that only matters if you're trying to sell it, of course. never tried any treatment on suede, and only once did i try treating a leather book
i have polybags to protect books in if they have flaking leather. then it's the customer's problem, heh heh. (polybag: little plastic protective bag, the kind used to store comic books, for example)
i've just put it back on the shelf where it's been for decades ... the other books don't seem to mind
morning. Is Molly here?
hi red. haven't 'seen' her
Good morning kids.
'morning scrabbs

very dumb question: that garlic culinary word with all those vowels, is that in today's grid or can I stop trying diff spellings?
nice going, crossy!
aioli
ok, thanks Scrabs, that one is not in today. Pfew.
16 left and i need a break, the grid has forced me to make more tea now
I could do with a tea. *Begs Scrabs for a cuppa*
Sure, I'll make a pot to share.
poiplovely!
I mean... lovely. Minus the *blush* stupid and not valid word.
crossy has some lipton,s "bold" black tea,if you ladies like your tea strong;0
not sure, crossy. If I believe Jac and Ata, the tea we drink in Holland is just awful. I would hate to drink our tea strong.
ours are mainly orange pekoe(sp) blends and very tasty
or we can get earl grey
i pretty much stick to chinese green tea
I think 'pekoe' is correct
and various green teas
I like chinese green tea
green teas are incredibly good for you,but i find them pale and weak tasting
a friend of mine sends it to me directly from china
most green teas we have here are not at all good, alas
i found a pair of nice antique sterling tera balls at the re-use centre last week,so i am going to try various loose teas for a bit
tea*
hmmmm tera balls. Yummy.
the mrs on the other hand is a coffee fiend
Hi All!
hiya hego :)
howdy hego
hey hego
i drink more coffee than tea...and the bolder the better
and suddenly, the grid turns evil for crossy:((
I love wiener melange... Vienna coffee.
It looks evil.
Vowels. Arrghhh!!!
awww crossy, not just for you... it is kinda evil today.
some nice Spanish words in here. lol

french is ok,i know enough of tyhat to get my face slapped in a bar:)
hey!!!!!
hi Tella
I'll bet that works for you in English too, Crossy.
howdy tella
hey even I can do that in english
lol,mrs does not let me pub crawl no more:(
No one wouls slap you Sprite
some would, hego :) But only if they are fast enough *grin*
hey crosshair , could u tell me abt life in canada if u dont mind?
what did you want to know tella
Hubby always says he's not big or strong, but he's fast.
way of life...
lol hego. I have to admit, I am not fast either, nor big (well, around, but not vertically), nor strong. I do have a vicious tongue if needed, though.
that works for women every time!
it sure does :)
well..that a pretty long topic but i live on georgian bay about 2 hours north of toronto, and can fish, hike and ski all within ten minutes of each other.we love our nature and natural resources.the changes of the seasons.i would not live anywhere else
woot I have fireflies. The 8s both end the same, both compounds, same ending as that darn ap word.
crossy... off to the PB!
off i fo...
Yay!!! Sprite!!
coniferous forests are common in canada, aren't they?
lol sprite,i needed that word as well
we have a wide variety of standing timber
I need the ap word, clue pls.
*grin* good job, crossy. And everything you love except the mrs is stocked in the PB. Just invite her to make it perfect.
of note are the giant redwoods on the west coast
oh, ok thanks;) how do u find the puzzle?
We got giant redwoods.
a + a part of something, hego. If we share 4 apples, we get 2 ap6
i find todays grid a bit tough
and the tiny spruces in my backyard :)
ty sprite
me 2 ;(
near here we are fortunate in having a 1400 year old jack pine
I found this grid relatively tough too. Anything I can help with before I go?
sadly much of the first growth forest is gone
still eary going for me sprite but ty
you seem to admire forests much ;0
ok dear babble friends, I am off then. Have fun!
Me too Sprite, tx
Bye
nature and its proper use and preservation are inportanbt to me,i am a northern boy and love the forests and the lakes
are you schooling?
no i am not a teacher, and my own school days are far behind me
i live on the lake...i love nature too. it is pretty much agricultural down here tho
polo
sorrry abt that! wrong word
it is ok,where do you live tella?
the way you put words together suggests you are not in north america.
Hi crossy and any one else out there can you give me clues for the 2 z pls
hey crossy, are you the one watching Once?
sorry pearl,i do not have them yet
no shirlock i do not know that programme

bye Hego. I must go and shower.
crosshair, u r rite. i live in singapore :)
thought so,well tella,i have a brother who is my exact opposite,he loves the cities, the urban concrete jungles, the night liofe, the bright lights, but i am not made that way..when i get up at dawn in the springtime and the world is silent and shrouded with fog off the water,i stroll down to the waters edge and watch as the mist vanishes with the awakening of the sun and a loon calls hauntingly in the distance..it resets my soul
wow!!!
sorry,just me waxing poetic:)
and when you walk though our algonquin park in the canopy of the trees and the river rushing over moss covered rocks, you reach down and cup your hand in the icy water for a drink,it is so clean and cold it makes you gasp and you can almost smell the colour green in the air from the tree that almost crowd right up to the rivers edge
cough..time for a tea brb
and gathering with friends around a fireplace on a bone chilling cold january night, laughing and sipping hot cider that is made right in our own orchards in the town next door, snowshoeing on those bright crisp sunny winter morning, you eyes dazzled as the son reflects of the snow crust like diamonds in the sun..and that is canada for me tella..any questions ? lol
Lovely images. I had no idea you were such a fine writer, crosshair.
sorry bout hogging the chog, tella wished to know about my canada
ty jan
clues are back in beta V12
What address, bichon?
I have downloaded [not recently] the Babble Expert version Beta V12. This is the 3rd day ths week that clues have been here
I can't find a link to that, so I'll have to keep looking - the only link I can recall seeing was on Lickety - can't use that one now!
yes, it's problematic
Loved your paeans to Canada, crossy - When I'm feeling better, I'll try to offer mine on the Canadian prairie and Rockies!
indeed helen, the west coast has some of the most amazing vistas and forests, can often put ontario to shame
wife and i wish to do the rocky mountaneers train vacation soon
crossy, would love to do that.

http://www.rockymountaineer.com/en_CA/ routes_and_packages?gclid=CKvB4pCYw6wC FasEQAodxVwcpQ&
Yes, we used to have passenger trains through Calgary - now we can go down and wave at the luxury tour as it goes by!
But it does sound like a wonderful vacation. Enjoy!

Hello

hey unea, and thanks!
se8: ocean + yes, I'd like a ***** of cake
to8: foot digit + Yes, I'd like a ***** of cake :-)

It's no wonder people are staring at the grid in a daze with words like that in it.
:) hiya molly
believe me, I didn't find them on my own! LOL
uh huh Molly I was just thinking that lol

Is Lickety's list safe to use now?
and now i must bid you all good day as work becons ,but i leave you with the much demanded crossy,s tidbit of the day!!!!
In 1858, Hyman Lipman received the patent for the first integrated pencil/eraser writing utensil. Normally, this would be the end of the story, but not for Lipman, who’d created a world-changing product by conveniently combining two pre-existing world-changing products. But that wasn’t good enough for the patent office. Fortunately for Lipman, the Feds were late in figuring this out, and by the time they decided to revoke his patent, the crafty inventor had—according to most sources—already sold the rights for $100,000.

I'm not sure why people keep saying Lickety's site is safe to use when there are still virus warnings up. Please use your own good judgment and don't take the word of people who tell you it's safe. I have a message into Go Daddy about this. I will let you all know what their response is.

This is the information I got from GoDaddy regarding the web site re46.me: Based on the information provided, you have a concern with the website for r46.me. While this domain is registered with us, the domain is being hosted with another provider. The domain name is redirecting to another hosting provider via nameservers. The hosting provider can provide more information regarding this issue.
Basically that means that domain is registered with GoDaddy, but hosted at another provider. And that is where the problem is.
what's the problem?
Thank you MollyL for that information. I do not have a problem w/the website. I don't get a warning for it.
molly has a web-site?
They won't tell me what the problem is since I am not the web site owner. I only contacted them as a user of the site.
I wouldn't call you a user Molly.. needy sometimes.. but user no :)

It was easy to co 4/6 with puzzle today. I am almost done so here is a story. The to 5/14 of today's story is my teenage elo4/5ment. When I was a teenager, I went out with someone who wanted to spi4/6 up our relationship. He got me a to 5/22 ring and suggested that we go to Canada and el5/12. However, our plans fa 4/7ed big time. My parents threw me through a lo 4/5 when they had po 6/24 officers meet me and my boyfriend at the Canadian border. The cops called my Mama and Pa4/6 to come pick us up. They must have found out about it from my older brother, who swore he would keep my secret and not make a pe 4/6. Boy did they give me a pi 5/14 of their mind when we got home. I was in so much trouble! I was in a huge pi4/5 of po 4/6. When my mom and dad punished me, I was so mad that I po4/6ed for days. Have you tried that emu oil cream? People say good things about it.
Emu oil cream??? Nope. (Erm, which part of the emu does it come from.....?)
Not sure which part it comes from. Someone on here raves about it for some other ailment, I can't remember what. I've read good things about it.
thanks Molly. I will investigate further. Although, psoriasis seems to emanate from within... (mine is triggered by stress... get rid of the stress, and I will get rid of the psoriasis... easy-peasy!)
Soodle, the fishes might be a lot easier than getting rid of stress. Hmmmmm.
LOL Vermont.. I got totally stressed putting my feet in with the fishies..... viscious circle.....

You can choose to talk to other babblers that have the program before loading it if that would help alleviate fears of virus.

Thanks to Dorens, also.

Hello Dorens! How are you doing? Welcome to the grid
Well done kje. Bravo.
thanks
I don't think I've ever hiked that far
well i KNOW i haven't . and probably never will
i don't recommend it without the right gear and training!
never say never doren
can i say probably never?
I do not feel the need to do it again ; )
well....okay
I'll say probably never too. Eight miles in the diabetes walk was long enough.
right now you don't i'll bet
I did the Bay to Breakers ..that's 7.3 miles...
made an arugala salad tonight with white balsamic, lemon juice, olive oil, toasted pignoli and freshly grated parmesan. mmmmmm i want to go make more now
but I was in a banana costume and really drunk
Good for you Ru. I bet that is a pretty walk.
hahaha
I sorta jogged

Good evening Babblers.
I made chinese chicken salad last night.. it was pretty good
hi wht
Hi Wht
i had cheese, ham, crackers, and fruit... that is what they had out
hi wht
the ham was really good, thick cut real ham, and salty - just what i needed
chinese chicken salad? tell more
I love pine nuts too!I love them in salad.Too bad they are so damn expensive&they're NEVER on sale either.
Hello wht! How are you doing? Welcome to the puzzle.
get a huge bag at costco min.. one shot expense, then they last for a long long time in the freezer
cilantro, roasted chicken, green onions, red pappers, buccachini pasta with a chinese dressing I make
sounds good excpet the pappers
and cashews
sounds fantastic. now i want the chinese dressing recipe and i'm set
Made Hungarian Goulash last night & I made Jackpot Casserole today. Casserole is better than the goulash
Fireworks. Thanks for all the help. See y'all at the flip. Now, ruru, you be a good, southern gentleman. LOL
I am not a member of Costcos, plus not one near me.
wtg ga.
Congratulations gapeach1066 on fireworks! Hooray!!
yay gap
What is Jackpot Casserole, Min?
Goodbye gapeach1066!I will see you tomorrow maybe
sesame oil, mendocino hot/sweet mustard, mustard powder, five spice powder, ginger, white rice wine vinegar, a spoon of peanut butter, toasted sesame oil, low salt soy sauce, pepper, and two cloves of minced garlic
Jackpot Casserole is ground beef, egg noodles, cream of corn, cheese, olives and onions, tomato soup baked in an oven for about 45 minutes. It's so easy to make.
ok. similar to cold chinese noodle dressing. definitely good stuff
Lots of good cooking tonight, by the sounds of it.
i like tater tot casserole and mom is making it tomorrow for me
Either that or everyone is hungry.
I roast the chicken at 350 for 45 minutes.. (larger breasts) and cube them
i'm exhausted from kje's hike
now i'm craving pine nuts
i am fading - will likely leave this undone... 30 to go
i still have some extra ones toasted in the pan on the stove!
I make that too. I make 2 different versions of tater tot casserole. JenM O16, did your mother get recipe from allrecipes.com? The one I do is like Shepards Pie.
me too rururocks!
bet you'll sleep well tonight kj
goodnight
we're proud of you for making it kje
good going
no she got it from when she sold Tupperware
Goodbye kje! I will see you tomorrow in the chat log.
hers is meat, mushroom soup and tater tots layered
oh god.. I met a Tuppie TUppington once
*Hangs a gold star for KJE*
are you making that up?
nope
Can you imagine Tuppie for a first name
The Tupster
my mom met a Mavis Davis one time, she always called me Mavis for some reason
My wife went to school with a Candy Coen
Some people are deviant when they name their kids
i've met muffies... maybe muffe and tuppie could get together
then i named my first car Mavis the mustard colored Maverick and she quit!
The ALL time winner is Crytal Lear from HIgh School.. you'll never guess her middle name...
I use hamburger beef, onions, tater tots and cream of chicken soup. Discovered so many new recipes when I started cooking which was only about four yrs ago.
see, it should have been mavis the mustard colored mustang, and then it might not have
that's Crystal sorry
lite/
And Muffie and develop a line of tops called Mufferwear, for women with muffin tops.
'm waiting.. i know i can never guess it
*can develop
Shanda..and I kid you not
hahaha
shanda?
Crystal CHanda Lear
*Groan*
Shanda
sorry
Her parents were probably so proud of themselves, for coming up with that name.
she was cute too
Was she well hung Ru?
her parents smoked a lot of pot
in well lit rooms?
cute molly
Was she a swinger?
cuter wht
Hey, I learned from the master.
lol...
she always knew how to make money.. but then there was always a ceiling
*snicker*
So did you just hang around with her, ruru?
help with with either of the lo5 words?
I was sorta linked to her
lo5,16 is the pl of the one before it.
the other lo 5 is like the duck huey duey and lo5
And lo5,10 is Huey and Dewey's cousin.
*snap*
thank you
need to go buy pine nuts now.. thanks for the fix doren..lol.. bbl .. have fun everyone
18 left
nite, ruru
bye ruru
Goodbye rururocks! I will see you tomorrow in the log
Fireworks
Congratulations wht on your fireworks! Good for you
whoooo hoooo WHT!!
Does anyone need any clues before I go?
I'll take a clue wht
I need a clue Wht, but not for the grid. : )
to5/12
one of the last two
Molly, outside of the grid, I am mostly clueless.
to + Hawaiian food.
And the other is the plural of maps hikers use that show elevation.
Hawaiian is the one I need. Thank you much!
yw
Well, good night all. See you later.
Goodbye wht! I will see you tomorrow in the chat log.
Hello lbdawger! Howa re you? Welcome to the puzzle.
night, wht. Hi Min
hi ibd
hi Jen
4 left!
hi all
kje broke her toe!?!?!
3
hi jm
hi friends :)
hi jmc, (((MRP)))
back with coffee in hand, and three dinners going at once :)
2 left
(((dawg))) !
i was just going to ask how she did in her hike. how'd she break her toe?
go jen!
1
dunno just glanced as my chog was catching up--rough terrain
go jen go!
is there a list?
bolognese, beef stroganoff and chicken provincial. that should keep them fed
yup, lickety is up and running, jmc
that should keep them feed for a long time mr p
all those meals for one sitting, or three meals for the week, mrp?
well, Luke (son) would have them all in one sitting, but that is a spread over a few days :)
fireworks!
whoo hooo jen!
tomorrow, I make beef goulash (cause that needs to sit for a couple of days IMO) and nacho beef sauce
on ya jen
on me?
there are just some dishes that need to 'brew' to taste good!
and yes i needed help from lickety!
on jen!
on jen!
sorry sometimes i dont quite get australian
were is you flag mr p?
'on ya' means - good on you in aussie slang
i emptied my bio jmc. will put it back up now that things are settled down :))
ah
but we still have your cat in its little space helmet! haha
put BE instructions in there for those wanting the program and have had lots of request, so that is good. That is what I like to do anyway
can't piss off the cat! It would sneak up on me in the middle of the night and claw me a new one!
cats are crazy you know~!
whoooo hoooo Jen!!
lol at Luke eating all that food in one sitting. yup that's a boy for ya!
and the limecat/mrp are kind of one anyway. those that know what mrpresident stands for know that! LOL
dawg, he is a total animal!
going on 13 and eating me out of house and home!! I asked him to come to a food shelter on thursday to see what was on offer for us. He picked so much stuff, the volunteer staff there were laughing at him and me! then they offered him cordial and cake and he had three servings. They felt so sorry for me, they gave me double my choosing LOL!
wait till he is really big--my son was as skinny as a rail from 13 to 26 but would go in waves of eating more than i could buy--glad i had some neighbors who would offer him food too
which means of course, I have many wontons.... Confusius say 'many wonton mean happy Luke'
I just started buying ramen in bulk
he is a rail!! where does all the food go???
energy
ah yes, i remember the growing boy...felt like just pouring salad dressing on the lawn and telling the kid to go graze.
The food shelter gives us beef and chicken 2 minute noodles, bread and buns and milk for free... thank God~!
LOL dawg!!
lots of energy there, mrp
haha that would have worked for me--i kept a parsley plant growing on the back stoop and come home to find it looking like the locust had attacked it
i was fortunate that my son wasn't a picky eater. for some reason now tho, he doesn't like olives or avocados. he used to love them as as kid
energy indeed jmc! all in his head too! is hard keeping up with the demands of a boy with his IQ too.... his brain is growing at a rate of knots too
(((MRP)))
my son hated avocados and olives until he grew up--must have swapped with your son
we have tomato and cucumber plants growing... of an afternoon, the locust *known as Luke* has been through them!
((((crossy!!! ))))
there is my hawt aussie lass!
lol, yup those two legged locusts are hard to eradicate
son eats everything... cooked, raw, with dirt on it... he even asked me if he could eat raw chicken!!
the only way i could get him to garden was to grow cherry tomatoes so he could eat while he worked
no raw chicken!!!!
hello my darlingheart canuck matey!!
raw beef however. . . .
lol jmc,my da used to plant sweet pea pods to get me to work the garden
my granddaughter is the tomatoe eater. she'll sneak them in the grocery store. have to keep a close eye on her1
i had to explain no raw pork or chicken! he just didn't think he could wait long enough for dinner to be ready!
haha my son would sneak a bite of the garlic starting when he was in the cart--i started buying it in the bottle
poor starving child! lol
luke eats tomato every day, rather than apple. since he got braces on his teeth, he finds the tomato easier to eat, only 1 tomato costs $1.
i throw him a carrot, tomato and cucumber every day... cause if I come too close, I might lose a hand
yikes!! that's an expensive tomatoe!
apples cost more!!
wise move keeping out of range
our fruit is ridiculously expensive... almost $1.40 an apple
better the carrot or the cukes, the acid in the tomatos is not good for the coating on the braces..unless they have improved over the years
wow that is expensive mr p
16 left and still not nbt :(
went to a restaurant once with the kid. the waitress asked if he wanted soup or salad, and he said "yes." he wanted both. got both and promptly made them disappear. He also had a huge steak that i'm not sure he even tasted. it was gone before I even started to cut into my dinner.
that is so not right mrp..here we have a variety of apple we grow locally called goldencrisp.they are so sweet and so firm and they are each the size of my 2 fists
well, we are in the middle of bumf*** nowhere, and when our fruit/veges is out of season, we import... so yes, darn expensive
Oi, you need to plant an orchard, mrp.
ah of course it is out of season
we are a beautiful country, with expensive as hell living expenses... I think Sydney is the 5th most expensive city in the world to live in.
golden crisp, are they like honey crisp? yummmm
we also pay dearly for american veggies in wintertime
they are lbd
we have golden delicious... and they are no bigger than a kiwifruit... disappointing
i think they are just a hair less sweet
Or come to the States and buy Fuji apples that are grown in Austalia, much cheaper than what you are paying now.
they are so big,1 apple=1 pie
at one stage.... you ready for this?..... we were paying $2.50 a banana!
really golden delicious are regular sized here
hi fuzzy
yeah, our trade agreements screw us over, the consumers here in aussie
holy scurvy! that's ridiculous!
Hi all
hi fuzzy :)
good heavens i would give up bananas!
hi fuzzy! i love fuji apples
and guess who eats 3 bananas a day?? yes, the human receptical
Mr. P, I bought bananas today in Quebec for .33 a pound!
lol,we sell gas to the americans and it is cheaper than what we can buy it for..we are used to it
My favorite is honey crisp
our fuji's cost about 80c at the moment, each
i am a granny smith fan
my son likes granny smith's
fuji's are so huge here, don't need more than a few to make a pie or cobbler.
my mrs is a mCintosh fan
a pound is equal to ??? in kg?
macintosh*
2.2 pounds to a kilo
I luv golden delicious
about .72
cents
hate you fuzz ;) just mail them to me!
that might be cheaper!
we are paying $5 a kg
sorry, that was a typo.... $15 a kg
I would not be eating bananas
$5 a kg is still spendy!
i do not know how you do it mrp..i was pricing out sydney real estate..insane!!
I would be losing a lot of weight at those prices
$15 is highway robbery
our crops got wiped with the floods and cyclones and so we import from somewhere far
i would be eating a lot of rice
as would i jmc, rich with slivers of meat and veggies in it
rice*
That makes sense Mr. P.
rice and gravy makes a good supper--i have had it many a night
oh too bad mr p that makes things harder in an already hard time
grrr my cat wants to take over the keyboard
oh well jmc, we have help from good people and local organisations that make sure we are ok. Is a major turn around for us. We used to donate to the needy, now we are the needy
need some alternative crops to replace those that were lost due to the weather
our church group is doing everything to help us. what goes around, comes around I guess
when my brother was in costa rica,a jar of karaft peanut buter was 10 dollars and a box of craft dinner was 4 dollars..anything not local sot heaven and the earth
you were just paying it forward, mrp
paing things forward is the key
And you will be back on the other side in no time Mr. P
paying
well i had a time when i was just getting by with lots of friends inviting us over to dinner and not so many lunches for me so i understand both sides mr p
i always took home the left overs
nothing wrong with that, jmc
mrp..can you meet me on fb for a quick second?
I have been know to insist that my guests take home "leftovers" too.
sure crossy
my neighbors do that to us all the time. we don't need the food, they just don't want the leftovers!
My husband requests that I do that when I make desert, otherwise we wind up eating and we don't need it!
i needed the food and learned to turn leftovers into new things
now i am okay because i live by myself
we always have thanksgiving with our neighbors. she cooks way too much then sends it home with everyone. Don't know what she'll do when her guest numbers start to dwindle...i just tell her I'll take the turkey bones, she can keep the rest. I love making turkey soup, and will gladly share it with her and her husband
i however, am not fond of leftover turkey...weird huh
ah well we always have thanksgiving at a hotel with my hubby's family
i am happily staying home this year and sending the boy up on his own
10 left still not nbt
why aren't you partaking, jmc?
hi again, all! stopping in briefly before going to bed...
i did my time for my mil's memorial service--i actually am looking forward to some time by myself
hi UU!
hi uu
down time is good.
i used to go to the homeless shelters with a friend to avoid thanksgiving but she died so i lost my excuse
hi, lbd and jmc!
start your own tradition, jmc
i get very little down time since there is usually a man standing outside my second floor window at 7:30 everyday except sunday
haha it is my boy's chance to be with his dad
how's the construction coming?
. . .dad's family so i don't want to stop it
*sniff* it is looking like i will be singing aul lange sine without a kitchen
*bursts into tears*
you can still start your own tradition, even if it's playing babble on thanksgiving.
(((((jmc)))))
haha that i will do lbd!
(((JMC)))
you can sing auld lang syne without a kitchen, jmc, all you need is a drink
what's the construction hold up now?
the cabinet guy who told me i should order the cabinets when it was 3 to 4 weeks to go and now he says it will take 5 - 6 weeks
I'd b**ch slap him into the next year!
but i was suppose to hold a kenyan jacket party for a friend of mine and i do christmas for my family and i will miss it all this year
oh, jmc, that does suck :-(
i really want to lbd--he said i should wait until after thanksgiving to come sign the papers because the traffic will be too bad on weds and i said i was coming weds so he better get the drawings done
*sigh*
give him the guilts, jmc. make him see how his bad timing has caused you so much distress.
i reminded him he said 3 to 4 weeks and i contacted him with that in mind
and his reponce?
responce...
not much of one. . . he said it may be more like that
brb i have a new pic of the construction
tell him to get his butt in gear and get your cabinets NOW!!
hmm not a great pic but you can see the roof deck developing
nbt and 9 left
i was dodging the sun when i was taking the pic
6 left
go jmc!! glad to see they have the tyvek up. hope it starts to go faster!
and i must head for my pillows. was up way too early this morning.

haha! whoo hoo mr p
well, it made sense to me at the time!
poor prince charles!
alright i am heading to bed myself good night all
nighters jmc :)
night, all! Good to see you mrp, even though we didn't get much chance to chat!
Hello all -- so glad to see yu mrp!
and glad to see the list -- I only got just over halfway lst night and this is my first chnace to be here today (bridge at my house)
oh dear -- typos -- had a winy dinner (moq au vin, and that's not a typo)
I hope I'm not talking to myself -- I do that allday
No, I am still here Jilli, I have 4 left and am tired of the puzzle.
hi snags -- is it ameanie like most little ones?
really not too bad........... but after looking for awhile, I just start seeing the same words over.
my thumb doesn't seem to be strong enough for this spacebar
oh oh.
Hi Jill Good to see you.
that's why Lickety's list is so useful
it sure is........
hi jilli!! ((((hugs))))
Hi mrp. VM
Hi meow. I'm now hooked on mosaic jigidis, sigh. How does one make them?
bye usue! ((hugs)) miss you too hunny
hi snags :))
Ah -- MRP!!! ((hugs)) Tings settling down now? Can I bug you with questions about our visit?
I could use some help please. to 5/10
I do it manually, but some folks, like Juneshone, has special software for it. I'm pretty sure June would tell you if you leave a message on one of her jigs.
of course you can jilli!
(I keep writing tings instead of things)
add an e to the end of the to4 above it
tings works for me :)
Meow, let's email re jigidi.
For isntance, mrp, do you know anything about the Pensione Hotel in Sydney?
email me jilli!
will look into it.
ty mrp.
are you staying there?? or thinking of staying there??
I will, mrp. Just don't want to bother you with such matters until you're free of hassles.
Thinking of staying there.
ok, but would like you to save your money and stay with me if you wish... have no problem in doing that
I have a friend here who has stayed in Sydney but the place she liked was over $300/day and that's a bit much for me, to put it mildly.
Does anyone else here find that they type in a word they have found and later its not there. I imagine I make a typo but never notice. But it seems like it happens too often.
and it is cheaper to rent an apartment for the week... only $600 and is fully furnished
Hi. Jill :http://www.wotif.com/ very handy and have some good motel/hotels. The Pensione Hotel there does look nice. We stayed at teh Park Hyatt when we went to the theatre
Yes, I do VM
Jill - I think you joined the Jigidi forum. If so, you can post your question there and probably get several answers.
I would love to stay with you for a wile but need a few days in Downtown Sydney, I think -- agreed? Want to do a few tourist things.
no probs jilli, will find you a place... how long you in sydney?
Snags, is it just our own ineptness?
Park Hyatt is gorgeous! and nice and expensive! I can get better rate as a sydney sider though
Oh wow, mrp == that sounds like a great idea! Don't know how long to stay in Sydney. Need to visit Frenchs Farm cousins too. I need help!
we can get 'honeymoon' rates... half the price
Jill did you see the Wotif? site?
Well, it's possible VM but I hope not.!!
lots of people like to stay in the city for a couple of nights who live in sydney. so they give the rooms for half the price
Herin, thatks so much for your advice too -- hope tomanage a visit to Melbourne as well, but your bldy country is so big!
i will do what I can.
you email me your preferred rate per night, and i will look into it for you and book once you have looked at it yourself
Mr PRes I think it was teh Hyatt near the theatre as part of a package
and jilli, i will drive you up the coast
No, herin -- haven't seen the Wotif site. Can you email me about it? That will give me time to think and explore.
we will stop in at the beach house for a day or two and then up to Armidale
my kids are gonna die to see you!! they really are
My cousins say forget Armidale -- Don Shand's property is now fenced off for development.
so put Forster into your plans... pronounced 'foster'
well, we will go to Forster anyway
http://www.wotif.com/ It is a great site for discount hotels but also for looking at many of them
Ah, the beach house sounds marvellous -- what I was looking forward to.
you will love the place! there is plenty of room there and Hal and Jan... just in there 70's, are the loveliest people
and we should stay at Nambucca Heads for a couple of days... is gorgeous too
tyvm, herin -- will investigate.
and will take you to the Blue Mountains
we can stay in Leura
Mrp -- how are you going to get so much time off?
and will take you to Minnamurra Falls
can also stay in Bowral
jilli, I would do anything for you
How many days will all that take, mrp?
Omg, I don't deserve that, mrp -- xoxoxoxo
well, if we start from sydney, go up to Forster, then to Nambucca Heads, back to Sydney, down to Bowral and do a little of the south coast.... about 1 week??
if you would like to break the trip up from north coast and south coast, then you do a few days in Sydney CBD.
so that is about 10 days
then back to my house and i will show you the beauty of the hawksbury river... we can get a river boat
it is just amazing!
How lovely -- and I must spend a few days in Canberra with one set of cousins, and a few in Frenchs Farm with the other set. I only have 3 weeks.
i can show you stuff that tourists don't know about
Looks like Jill has been kidnaped
I want to come too!
oh yes! I will drive you to Canberra... Maddie and I will do the sites there for a couple of days on our own
Vermont Congrats on getting your prodom. And your kitty is simply so cute
That was a treat I was looking forward to, mrp...
we love canberra!
will also take you to the hunter valley wineries... we can stay in mudgee overnight
Hey MR Pres
will get my dad to meet us there so you can have a meet with him... he is only 2.5 hours northwest of mudgee
come on over Babs!!
Really? I hear it's a very boring town -- but the cousins aren't (Clunies Rosses)
we can stay in a pub in mudgee... just be awesome
total country town living there
Mrp, I hereboy appoint you my travel agent, lol!
MR PRes do you know if there is packages for the Harry Potter thing at the muesum?
*hereby, sigh
and we go to Merriwa and Cessnock and do the whole vineyard experience
no infern! is it on in March?
Jilli, I will make your stay downunder one that you will enjoy and take fond memories home with you
No now to errr Feb
thanks mrp was headed to NZ many years ago, but got in car accident and never came. Would love some travel to look forward to instead of what's currently on the plate...
Silly son Dave never read a Harry Potter book.
oh babs!! ****hugs****
jilli is coming March
Awww, babs!
Thanks, mrp...how are you faring through your stuff? How exciting for you and jilli!!!
Wasn't thinking Jill I was thinking me you goose
we are going to do the whole sydney arrangement... Dave can do that with Jilli.... all the other stuff outside of Sydney, that will be my treat to show jilli
the fact that Jilli IS coming here, is making my whole year!!!
My kids are excited, I am excited... this is going to be great!
Dave comes with me -- he's fun.
that is awesome!
And it will be at a time when we can do it without the nasty heat and everyone will be more relaxed that way
I'm excited but bewildered about making all the arrangments. Dave is no help at all.
back to lerking
I am getting a sofa bed for Mark and I jilli.... you will have my room (will Dave sleep in with you?) and Dave can have Maddie's room. I have a king bed and maddie has a double
Wow! I am impressed and jealous and very happy for you folk!
jilli, just get here... I will start looking into the trip... but you must have input to what you want to do so I don't 'overwhelm' you. I know you like to swim, so will make sure you get that in too
Dave and I can share a room but not a bed -- no Oedipus thing going on, thank you!
ok, well you get the king bed and he gets the double in another room... that ok??
He doesn't mind a sleeping bag on a sofa
Jilli--then mrp should come visit you next! your part of the world looks so wonderful too.
Hi Babs. And Vermont you ahve a cute kitty
jilli, you will have a king bed with a TV and cable and anything you want.
I will not displace you and Mark--sofa bed for me is fine.
Mrp was supposed to come here this month but plans changed. She (and whomever) is welcome any time.
ah jilli, will all be fine when you come.
Maddie and I are talking about a trip in June now
oh...that would have been great, too! jilli...
Oh, that's areally nice time here.
i am putting money away "shhhh" for a trip to the US and Canada

Oh, thanks dizgrannie! She is a special kitty. We have a new kitten also. Lost our belove six year old cat last summer and now have a long, tall, scrawny kitten. I've never had a shorthaired cat before and am having a time getting used to him.
Any moment now.
