Happy Thanksgiving to all Babble players in the US
I agree, a decent size for us to do today
happy thanksgiving to US friends!
I am diving into this grid. I will be back halfway finished.
biodegrading is my phantom!! LOL
Happy Thanksgiving to everybody; no matter where you are. We all have lots to be thankful for
amen nef!
Hear hear nef
BA 6
hello everyone :)
mrp -- repeating my question -- how do you know what clues to post?
br6
hi nan
br 7
diz BR 7/40?
yes
thanks i got it too
after you though:)
I am stopping at 75 words and 705 points. Goodnight!
br 7 x2
Goodbye to my fellow babblers! I'll see you later today
Nighters, Min! Have a good Thanksgiving
wtg min -- Happy Thanksgiving Day to you and yours
jilli; when you asked mrp about what clues to post; what did you mean?
I just wondered how she finds out how many words will be in the grid for the day -- does DrG let her know or what?
i guess it is time for the clues... bbs
ty mrp
jilli...there are programs out there that solve these grids....probably has to wait for the puzzle to drop...and then run the program
no; I would guess that Lickety has a computer program that they can enter the grid into and the computer will figure out the possible words
stats for the bottom T please?
but they must know what the grid will be
te 5
te 6
Nef they are random
they have even rn out of grids
sorry -- te 6
I know the grid id random, but to get the clues they must know what to do.
DR_God once told me the grids are random and he never chooses them. Even the very small or very large' once they change; *that* is the grid
thanks for the T
late flip!
the program is intricate and not flawless... sometimes it finds several more words than what Babble does, so has to be adjusted etc... it looks for words up to 25 letters long, and it 'grabs' the grid from dr.g and solves for the clues. you don't get a list of the solved words due to the way the program was developed
My question is not about the grid, but about how mrp and Lickety know what clues to post to match the grid of the day.
in tanglewords...some of the "cheaters" downloaded the programs that would see the grid...and then auto enter all the possible words
dart... they are dicks
ok, thyvm mrp -- the bit I was looking of is that "it 'grabs' the grid from dr.g"
4th column O stats please?>
blanking on the o's
they would kill everyone ratings....you would score 250...and they would score 1200
oh 4 for 4th col
dart -- is that what killed tanglewords, do you think?
ob 4 for 3rd col
Jilli - the program lickety wrote finds the possible combinations of letters, and compares them to a database of words, then it extracts the matches, and pulls the clues from the list of words.
ah -- that babblet hasn't been around for a while -- ty diz
And I don't give a hoot about ratings or speed or competition -- just enjoy finding words and chatting
or6 and re8
lol yw Nan
Clues are up
ty diz
nbt
broll, I understand
nbt
Thank you, MrP !!
ty mrp
Thanks yet again, mrp xoxoxoxoxxo
My son is a computer programmer, and he did the same, but he won't give the program to me!
tanglewords was at playsite.com....they dropped it..was picked up by iwin.com..then they dropped it too...dont think that killed it...but when those people would come in I think that generated a lot of complaints that they had to answer
oh the gh8 is bullshit! excuse my french, but that is a word you have to go to morewords for!!
thanks for the arning, mrp!
*warning
mrp i was just looking at morewords for it
re 8...NBT NBS
is it a word we should know?
he 7
re8 comes in from the or6
put back on track??
the gh8 is not a word i have ever seen, or will ever want to see again!
and it has no dictionary results!LOL
i've seen the gh6 before...and it is the pt is guess
this grid looks mean, with words like the gh8 and no S
gh 6 -"to coerce by physical means" (Scrabble dictionary)
Got it thanks to Morewords as well

hi shdy
hi flosey, how goes it?

not too bad, been a rough week
sorry to hear that
had to put down the shady part of my name on Monday, sad, sad, sad
found the re 8 -- nbs *poof*
oh.. sorry shdy
ah, understand, we had to do that a few years back, still haven't been able to replace her
i made a very nice tribute to her, but can't figure out how to share it other than email. it's just a little powerpoint show
I'd like to see it, will put email address in bio
I found it cathartic to write about mine and let everyone know via email
ty, then if you know how to pass it on?
i think the burying was helpful, but I really want everyone to see her
ok, won't leave it there for long, so please get it quickly
follow your heart shdy..
done !
*covers eyes to not see flosey's email*
hey shady - I'm sorry to hear this news. Would like to see your tribute too - you know where to reach me.
lol ru, but am sure you understand
have had one nasty experience - that was enough
just kidding flosey
sorry, griff, but i've gotten really dumb lately, between br having a stroke and shdy having cancer, oh and work and stuff, not very functional
I don't blame you at all..
I know, you silly
think of all the bad jokes you'd have to put up from me alone
lol, that we might enjoy
Ihad Jacula laughing this afternoon
flosey, if you can make a link for e1 somehow? yo no se
sounds like a rough one all the way around.
don't know how to do that shdy
wtg ru
me either, flosey
will ask Jilli if she can help
there ya go griiff.... she
....is beautiful
received shdy, will deal with it later, ok?
sure, only takes about a minute or 2
oops, cannot open it?
let's all move on, huh?
would someone clue the re8 please
wish I could ru
I would like to see the tribute, to shdy - lost our elderly car last week, too. I'll put my email on my profile.
hi. I wish everyone celbrating Thanksgiving in the US a blessed and bountiful holiday. Remember, counting your blessings makes them multiply.
counting blessings makes you keep track of them
but that's nice Angel..same to you
I am giving thanks that a lot of our military will be coming home and staying home
that is a wonderful thanks, ruru
I think I have forgotten how to play this game. *yawn* will try again in the morning. babble on ya'll
night griff.. sleep on it
nite griffie, **big hug**
*hugs* back....and poof
and amen to that ru, great news
sent it, helen, btw
I am spending mosdt of today in the kitchen; we will have our Thanksgivng open house on Friday.
open house?
yes, for family and friends to come share with us.
we always do an open house. it is so much fun!
oh.. thought you were inviting the neighborhood
eek, sounds scary, i did all the chopping today, and steamed the rice and broccoli, less tomorrow?
ruru, lol...we pretty much are.
Sounds nice angel..
my daughter, her family and some of their friends, my parents, my brother, others. When all is said and done, we will have fed around 22 people.
wow.. that's a ton of work
we are having a quiet meal for two..
nope. not as much as you might think.
we have it down fairly welll.
helen, did you get the tribute?
I'm doing make ahead recipes today, then we will do the turkey and stuffing tomorrow.
that's the great thing about thanksgiving you can do a lot of things a day or two ahead
yes!
you just need a monster fridge
I have a recipe for make ahead mashed potatoes, for example.
kinda what i did tonight, angel, chopped all the carrots, onions, celery, garlic (darn forgot to chop the parsley), cooked the rice and broccoli, cut the potatoes and stored them in water
I will make them today, and heat them in the crockpot tomorrow while the turkey is in the oven
shdy, we are neighbors. I am in Texas
where in tx?
free dinner shdy.. she's inviting everyone
you all sound so organised, I'm like that at Christmas time. Have a great day xx
night diz
well, ru, kinda busy here, lol
about an hour north of Austin, shdy
<----likes austin
i was raised mostly in houston, angel, found my way back south via san diego and durango, colorado
<--- was born and raised in Austin
i love austin, also love baton rouge, now
<---raised by a pack of wolves
and that was a problem because?...?
I've only been to Shreveport/Bossier
speaking of baton rouge, who's watching college ball on friday?
i have never been to either, lol, what kind of local am I? I work for wildlife and fisheries here, but haven't been to most places
'm off for a bit. sleep is needed.
nite angel
have fun tomorrow angel.. hope it all goes well
ruru, looks like we're the only ones left, think i'm gonna bail too
okay..night shdy. have a nice get together too.. I hope it all goes well
I'm sorry about your friend.. it is so hard..
had to take a kitchen break, has everyone left for the night?
nope. I'm here still plugging away
ah, hi again
wb .. where's jilli tonight?
hello flosey and ruru
jilli was in earlier, has to be up very early tomorrow - she is not usually an early riser
taking a break
hi west. hi
hi west
just got my final g
morning all
hi sprite
hey west!
hello sprite, this is early for you?
hi flosey :) Yes, it is.
beautifiul Thanksgiving icon, sprite
hi princess
thank you :) Yours looks tasty.
hi ruru *hug* :)
thanks, just haven't updated
flosey.. your email is still in your profile
if you say it is a turkey, I will believe you
thanks ru
hey ruru, you are in the grid today!
(ho5/16)
darn, I did delete it but neglected to "update"
I am?
yep
hmmm, I don't see punster, sprite
I thought Br6 suits me first
lol
ah, see it sprite, and it counts
hmz ok, maybe I am projecting. It is quite possible.
well think about it sprite.. you have to be br6 to think about being ho5 a lot
ain't that a fact :D
always knew being br6 would come in handy one day
<---always plotting his next move.
you're unbeatable, ruru :)
he is indeed, sprite
lovely to be on at this time for once - am enjoying the company!
but ru, that isn't the nicest icon you've had - a rather mean looking animal
nice to have you here too sprite.. I'm not as much a nite owl as I used to be.. when I started this game years ago
sleep is definitely less overrated than I always thought, lol. I can sympathise there.
I think he's kinda cute flosey
no kidding
yeah he is... I feel like cuddling him under the chinnychinchin. *counts fingers*
every once in a while my love gets itchy and goes moving the furniture around in the livingroom... usually entails making news bookshelves and cutting up existing cupboards (he used to be a carpenter). Usually drives me bananas. But this time... the room seems twice as big, it is roomy, it is neat and very pleasant! Yay for my love.
would you be willing to loan him out sprite?
wow sprite, sounds like positive changes then, lucky you
as long as we stick to moving furniture around and carpenting, I wouldn't mind :)
yes, very positive, flosey. Worth living in a chaos for a week or two.
he's definitely a keeper
he'd be a keeper even if he didn't do this. I love him to pieces.
mroe room to wrestle .. huh sprite?
you got it, ruru!
well, our unfinished 'powder room' stayed that was, even though plumbing was all in - just became a storage room until a couple of years ago now guests don't have to use the ensuite
some take longer than others but they always come through flosey
I noticed that ho5/16 goes together with br5/16, ge4/6, gr5/14-7/36, gr5/14 and yo4/6. I am fully willing to give thanks to that.
I'll bet it's nice to have that guest bathroom
it is so lovely when things like that get finished at last.
absolutely - had to laugh at one lady, she informed me that she always peeks behind closed shower curtains to see why
lol! That is cute.
I'd jump out at her !!
but ruru... orgy is a phantom!
you really would get a giggle out of this old dear - has a good heart but never stops telling people how things SHOULD be done
*pictures west jumping out from behind the curtains*
I'd have to have a few cocktails first I think
ah, I know people like that. They have a very strict notion of how the world should be. But when you have a problem, they are the first to come to your aid.
lol and that might make it more interesting, west
anyone have a re 6/24? I sure don't see it
I want to be a fly on the wall then
most likely I'd fall asleep waiting
not me yet Will help look.
well, for goodness sake, just typed the name of a gal who ran for political office here and it took!
nor I and I'm looking for the br 5/16
aw... now I see west cuddled up in a too short, too hard, too cold bathtub, sleeping. *throws a blanket and a pillow*
that goes with the ho 5/16
thanks sprite lol
not narrow, west, or one like us
br 5 goes with my salty humor west
ah thanks
oops wrong
ir 5/14 describes your humor too ruru
<---- loves ir5
I can say for certain that re6 isn't a whole series of again words. I just tried.
br5/16 - to worry persistently, perhaps about your young.
Good morning/evening all.
hi Haz..
hi Haz :) Good to see you.
like a chicken?
good morning haz
now don't egg her on... ;)
Like a chicken, exactly.
I am so sorry for your loss.. you must be heartbroken..
and thank you
Thanks, ruru. It's not completely sunk in yet.
oh no haz I have no words
I know the feeling.. its eery it's like a total disconnect from everything
that is the sweetest pic, Haz
It all happened so quickly in the end but she was so ill, there was no alternative.
It's a lovely picture - my son-in-law took it and we have it framed.
you did what was best for her.
It's just going to take a while to get used to not having her around, pottering after me and generally being part of our family life.
I am just crushed to hear it though. I'm so sorry for both of you
I know, ruru, and I said before that I felt as though I had shared Spangle with lots of babble friends. Husband was devastated, just so upset.
sorry Haz, she looks like a loving pet
I was speaking to Jacula about it earlier.. that once in a lifetime a dog becomes your "heart" dog and reaches into your very innermost being.. I can tell Spangle was that for you. I do so understand
I know, ruru. I will have another dog when the time is right - I just love the companionship they bring - but it's too soon for now.
it is losing a part of your family.
I hope your friends and family are trying to do things to help and comfort you
They've been very good and everyone's been very sympathetic.
and babble itself can be a distraction for an hour or so, I hope
yes .. you will need some time.. I had a Vet tell me to not wait long ...and that the greatest tribute to a great dog is to say that was so wonderful I can't wait to experience it again... it took me a long time to recover from Monty and get Dylan..
nearly 12 mths since we lost our beloved dog (Chrissy @ 14 yrs)...dtr has taken us to find another pet at the animal welfare places but the only one that caught my eye was a large crossbreed which is unsuitable as we wouldn't be able to exercise her properly.
it depends, ruru. Some 'pets' are so much more than just pets. They really become part of your family. Those cannot be 'replaced' any time soon.
I would start to think about having another dog in the springtime, edging towards summer. I'm heavily involved in the town festival which is February/March and after that there would be more time.
that is so true sprite
you will find the right one at the right time, dizgrannie.
I didn't take that vet's advice.. but thought it was sweet of him to say it
I think there's always the fear that the new dog wouldn't live up to the old one, but the fact is that a new dog will be different and just as loved.
It's a different experience for sure.
I know my grandmother had one favorite cat... Monty. They had many cats after Monty, but those were 'just' beloved pets. Monty was something else. He lived on forever in her heart.
I wish I lived near you to cook you some meals haz
That's sweet of you, ruru.
Haz, I know that will be true for you. You are able to accept a new dog will be a whole other being than Spangle. Some people want to find a copy and they are always disappointed.
flosey, was it you who entered a name that was valid? Was it also a flower/herb?
the right dog will find you Haz.. good people and great dogs find each other.. they seek that spirit.
one can NEVER find a carbon copy of a beloved pet (or child)...we are thinking more of a 'lapdog' type, now that we are older
did I, I didn't notice, and no one called me on it
so sorry Haz ,losing a pet is losing a famely membe r we lost both ,and it hurts,
I can vouch for a king charles cavalier spaniel, dizgrannie. Lapdog sized but still fully dog. Sweet as can be. But find a great breader, that has the dogs tested.
Thanks, Yvo, you're so right.
so true, Yvo
I love those dogs. the king charles. so silly and so sweet
nm flosey, was just wondering if I had found the right one.
oh yes, I do remember Br6/30 is the name of a gal to ran for public office
I cannot find the re 8 or 6..Any gentle pointers?
ah, yes! Then I found the same one, flosey, thanks.
now I found the 6
still looking, ruru. They're hiding from me.
I got it sprite a woman's name
interesting sprite, I'd never heard the name before
ah thanks ruru, found her!
I've heard the name but I don't know anybody with the name, if that makes sense.
yes, of course it does Haz
IT's Italian
In the Kushiel books by Jacqueline Carey there is a Br6 house, I think. It is a flower.
well, perhaps she was named after the flower
I know a re6 but not a br6. As name, I mean.
probably, flowey
I mean flosey, sorry
flowery flosey :)
one of my uncles wrote to me when he was overseas, WWII, and spelled it Flowerence!
found it
wtg ru
awwww that is sweet, flosey!
jeez. that was tough.. re + asia
you found the re8, ruru? Could you pls clue it?
thanks :D
lol, it was innocence on his part, he just didn't know
yeah, but the result was sweet. Nicer than when I am misspelt as spite ;)
yes sprite, hope that isn't means to be nasty
no, just typos, not a problem at all :)
I really must get to bed, am starting to get hungry and that's bad
yeah, that is a sure sign. Sleep well, flosey, and dream even better.
Beware the midnight munchies!
55 to try to get tomorrow, goodnight all
good night flosey and don't look behind that curtain
Goodnight, flosey, sleep well.
i'm going to go read. Haz.. I am so glad you showed up.. I'll be thinking of you and hope that it gets easier for you over the next few days. Please pass on my condolences to Mr Haz as well.. good nite all
lol, west is still waiting to jump out?
night ruru, enjoy the re4. *hugs*
lol, bye now
you never know sprite
Thanks, ruru. Enjoy your book and I'll see you again.
good night ruru nice to see you again
Haz please know my heart is breaking for you and your family. That is an unconditional love that Spangle gave to all of you.
if you jump out here, west, I will scream. But you will be welcome anyway.
I hope you can remember the happiest times with her.
oh that is so true. Dogs are great teachers of unconditional love.
Thank you, westford. She brought so much joy to us and we remember her so fondly.
You made her one of 'our' dogs and I thank you for that.
I'll be back later. Hugs all around.
I still have the icon with Spangle in George's arms, Haz. A rare moment of cuddling peace.
bye west. *hugs* right back at you.
Bye, westford.
I know, I have that pic still, sprite. And of course, Spangle features in FM's PB picture. She got around!
she sure did! And those pictures show how much she enjoyed it all.
the celestial hunter is not valid, I see.
Enable being fussy again.
not nice at all. It is my favorite star constellation. Maybe because it was the first I learned to recognise.
Do you get clear enough skies to see the stars clearly? Husband always complains about light pollution making it more difficult - much easier out in the countryside.
The other problem we have is cloud. Somehow, every promised wonderment in the skies is hidden with cloud cover.
yes, we can usually see Orion, and the big dipper, Ursa major and minor, Cassiopeia. But of course we'd see much more detail if we could get rid of the light. I think you have more countryside than we do.
argh yes, cloudy here as well. Usually with eclipses. Very frustrating.
I think he notices the difference because he was brought up in the country and would have seen stars much more easily. I think the clearest skies I've ever seen were in Kenya - just magical.
I have never been to a tropical place, but I have heard the stars seem to be much closer there.
There were just so many of them! It really was beautiful.
we went to france to see the total solar eclipse. It was overcast. But we could see the shadow racing over the earth and that was worth the whole trip in itself. Such speed, it was so impressive to be part of that.
It must have been. Sometimes nature puts on marvellous displays and all for free.
Hi Haz (and everyone)... so sorry to read your news, poor Mr Haz must have been torn apart. Josie picked up a serious infection after being speyed a fortnight ago and even though we have only had for 10 months the hole left would have been enormous especially for hubby. Glad you contemplate another, Haz without a dog just doesn't seem right, you sort of came as a pair !!!
hehehe yes indeed. My father started his career as a sailor and he once witnessed the eruption of a volcano. I think it is one of the most powerful memories in his life.
hi Karys, how is Josie now?
Hello, Karys, nice to see you!
Absolutely fine thanks sprite, but she was so poorly !
I'm glad to hear she's recovered, Karys.
quite a scare, Karys. Very glad she is fine now :)
It's hard when they're ill and you can't explain to them why they're feeling rotten.
Thought about you a lot at the time Haz, with Mr Haz being a vet. We were at our vets daily.
It's not good when she was perfectly fine and you are the person that took her to have this dreadful deed done !
we humans often feel guilty about things we couldn't have prevented... guilt is slightly less tough to bear than feeling powerless.
Ah yes, the old guilt thing does kick in. Still, as long as she's fine now, that's great. I hope it doesn't give her a fear of going to the surgery from now on.
She wasn't too bad on the last visit when she was feeling well again.
It's the 'spaniel eyes' with Josie sprite, she has that down to a fine art !
argh, those are killers, those eyes. Terra does the same thing.
Haz, much condolance on your loss of Spangle - I don't chat much, but I've enjoyed reading about her over the years.
Thanks, City.
Spaniels and their eyes are something else. They've got 'the look' down to a fine art.
oh yes, and they know exactly when to use it. Cuts straight to the quick.
They must have been taught with their mothers milk.
Visions of spaniel puppies lined up at a mirror practising.
:) Indeed. Mum behind them, correcting.
'Now listen baby, this is how to get your own way, come on, let me see you do it now'
"the frown! Do not leave out the frown!"
Absolutely. And the laying of the head on the lap. And the paw when the owner stops stroking.
yes. And the sigh to go with the laying of the head on lap or knee.
Oh, I forgot the paw, thats another thing. Anyone would think it's poorly the amount of time it spends not on the floor !
:)
Always the same one with Josie, is it always so ?
no... for Terra it is the paw that is nearest.
I guess poor Haz is sitting here with an enormous box of tissues.
No, I'm actually smiling at the memories.
Thats good
filling a little bit of the emptiness with great memories
I was laughing to myself at the memory of Spangle lurking at the top of the stairs (where she was not supposed to be) and HURTLING down them when she saw a cat go past. She would just about get stopped before the front door.
that is something else about spaniels... they can be so adorably clumsy one moment and all proud bearing the next.
I have to do 'things' now, I won't sully the chat with naming the 'things'. That presents a happy picture Haz,
back later
Do the things beging with H?
they do !
Bye, Karys, nice to see you.
I knew it! Sprite, she's going to do housework. Named and shamed.
Lol..gone
Bye!
I'm going to excuse myself to get ready to go out. Thanks for the chat, sprite and I'll see you again. Bye for now!
bye Haz, I'll be thinking of you and your husband
and bye Karys. I better follow these examples. Fireflies... and bye all :)
So Sorry to hear about Spangle, Haz.
oh Haz I'm so sorry about Spangle {{hugs}}
spangle is in doggy heaven... doing all the wonderful doggy things she does.... and smiling down at all of us, those that remember her know what a wonderful companion she was. I could not imagine the loss and am just numbed for you Haz... have enjoyed spangle stories and my memories of her are so so fond! How sad it is to lose a loved one on four paws... so sorry for the family.
at times like this... thanksgiving is a spiritual holiday we don't have her (to celebrate), but can feel it for my friends... i am thankful for our pets and the delight they bring us; the love, the devotion and unconditional love... i am looking at Vixie now, she is looking at me. I just cry to think she would not be with us. Blessed be to all pets and thank you for the amazing love and devotion you show us mere mortals. xox
Morning all.......Haz am so sorry to hear about Spangle....am sure you will enjoy lots of wonderful memories of her!
Good morning all. Gobble gobble.
morning chris happy thanksgiving to you
gm
Good morning and Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!!
gm car
Hi kje!
hi kje and car et al :))
Hello MRP!
Happy Thanksgiving Car. Thanks for the great idea. I bought my great niece an Elf On The Shelf for Christmas.
happy thanksgiving to you in the USA!
And hello to Flask and Christini!
THank you! Many things to be thankful for today!
indeed car!! many many thanks to everyone today
I'm thankful for a few quiet hours of babble this morning before the cooking begins.
That IS a blessing!
I'm thankful for so much more, of course, but that's what immediately came to mind!
i am thankful for the surprise badge of honour I got today :)
THat sounds cool! What is it?
today, i got a badge for best referee of the month in summer football reffing.... never ever thought i would get it! was a lovely thing to get as the teams voted for me.
Oh! That is wonderful! Congrats!
thank you!!!
brb
see you soon car... i think i need to sleep. wish my headache would go away. we have had temp differences of 20 degrees!! that is enormous and my implant gives me grief (hurts like heck) when the temps change
is it just me or is this grid challenging
and btw... has anyone seen BR lately. Haven't seen him in awhile and wondered if his vision has just gotten too bad
And we are back! Cinnamon rolls are in the oven!
Ugh. Hang in there MRP. And get some rest.

Pandora is nuts. She was looking at me going BUT I can't eat it. Where did it come from? I mean seriously mental
Yet my mother feed her twice last week and I wasn't even in the room. Go figure

two were controlled burns that got out of hand
no we're ok here and the wind is dying down so theyre getting optimistec that the worst is over
fingers crossed is so slice
stupid to do control burns in century heat
the govt is going to have to cough up lots of compensation
is only 2 c here right now :(
no lives lost as far as we know so thats a blessing
the worst fire is in a wine growing area so heres hoping the wine wont have a smoley taste
Vanilla I hope the get it under control
yes so do we
i bet whom ever had the bright idea to burn has severe butt pucker right about now.
smokey???? they store in smoked oak barrels especially to achieve a smokey flavour
the blame game will start soon no doubt
hmmm....wildfire shiraz...
so maybe they can make a killing on that drop
anyway on with babble, 23 to go
Carlee the smoke and soot can kill the poor plants

I am wondering if I will actually have a bed to sleep on tonight since I can't find either cat
You sleep on your cats?
:-D
No but they do
More like they sleep on my head
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
back at you Deb
We don't let my cat sleep with us anymore because she meows too much.
ger
Excuse me.
We have no choice. Lucius bangs on doors till you open them
We shut the two doors. She took over the couch when our other cat died anyway.
off to nuke coffee -- back in a bit *poof*
She bangs on the window in the summer. She has her own door but she prefers butler service.
Can't Lucius is major pain
Poor Lucius.
No I mean he is a major pain in my butt
sorry tired missed a letter
Oh, yeah. Bebe too.
I see clients in my studio back of the house and she sits outside the door and miaows loudly the whole session.
Makes me seem like a really caring therapist.
I swear she is trying to wreck my practice.
Can you see sitting with your therapist whose cat is miaowing piteously for the whole hour?
Awwwww. You should let the cat in. Maybe the patient would like it
Kaplan, if you can't beat 'em, why not join 'em? If possible, work your cat into your therapy sessions.
I sometimes do, but then she miaows to get out.
slow chat...lol
You need a cat door
Oh, she gets worked in, believe it.
(ctm)
that is "chuckling to myself."
We HAVE a cat door.
Is that you?
Every other cat in the neighborhood has used the cat door, but like I said, ours prefers valet service.
hehehe Smart kitty
hi. I am well and truly stuck on my last word: RE8. clues, please?

Back at you
Can someone clue the re6 for me please?
salve re6
herein, when you refered to your cat as a pain in the butt, I thought of our long gone friend named Pita. (pain in the ass)
ro6 is like the western cowboy competition spelled incorrectly.
thanks!
oops. You said re. I don't have it. :(
re6 is the queen
bottom T ?

Sleep well.

Are you in Florida now, Aloy?

I'm cooking, and having a fine time doing it.
Going to a friend's house. Doing nuthin'.

i haven't started cooking yet -- planning to do some desserts for a friend's din din
listing with 47 left... just can't see words today
I am doing the dressing. It is slowly cooking in the crockpot as we speak.
anyone have a secret as to how to chop onions without crying?
holy cow, I missed the volcano
lol aloy so had I :0
TY, Aloy
it was hiding
No idea, snags
try dipping the knife in water before you slice the onion
you can cut onions without crying by cutting them under water
some onions are kinder than others
Fascinating, Ou.
good tip
I am going to grab breakfast. ANybody want something? I have oatmeal, yogurt, eggs, bread, Cheerios...
Good Morning Everyone. Happy Thanksgiving!
Hi Nef
I missed snot
think I'll go do the same.. tummy rumbling.. hi Nef! brb
TY, kje
h'mm... mucus?
snot???
the kind of snot you pick, nef - lol
what do you eat before the big dinner? i'm having a problem deciding -- don't wan to eat too much but don't wanna faint before turkey
oatmeal, Shirl
oh, lol.. had that.. ok, bagel, here I come
Solution to chopping an onion. Get someone else to do it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! hehe
i do have oatmeal hmmm
<still trying to figure out if kje is giving clues or something else? I need some coffee to understand>
kids pick them and wipe them untold places, nef
I'm still trying to figure out KJE's location.
AHHH! It's a clue! Thanks, kje! :-)
I got the snot clue, I have three boys. : )
do6?
do6/27 - crumpled canine listener
Great clue, as expected, Haz. How are you? I haven't seen you in so long.
ty haz!
i was trying to get crumpled dog out of that, haha
Hello, Scrabbler. I'm fine, thanks. How are you?
You're welcome, kje.
Doing well.
That's good. Leaving George in peace?
could I have a clue for the bottom left T for NBT please? (I fell asleep trying to play after the flip; didn't last even 30 minutes.
te6 - brought moisture to the eye
thanks Haz!
And the other is te6 - te plus perform an action again.
You're welcome, Nef.
thanks again! :-)
gh5/16?
There's a ge5/16, is that what you need?
oops. yep
g plus a backward tortoise racer.
great clue, ty
You're welcome.
i read that clue as backwater tortoise racer - silly me
There are bound to be speedy tortoises in the backwaters, I just know it.
and hello all from a really miserable Durban - now on day 14 of constant rain and this is sunny Durban!!!??
Constant rain isn't very cheery.
Haz so sorry for you over your loss of spangle. Our pets are so dear to us, our furry little best friends.
We have beautiful sun here; sending some your way!
Hi Ursh
Hi Ursh
Thank you, chic, much appreciated.
.. back, passing hot toasted onion bagels..
Hi Chic
around.. lol, didn't sound quite right
Ty Nef only problem is when the sun does finally shine it will be terribly humid - so much wet earth about
Hi scrabs have we still got a game going? I'll start one if we don't.
lolololo Aloy
there were two hearts in the cavity bag
Cute, Aloy; I actually read the "around" in your entry even though it wasn't there!
consider yourself lucky, Aloy!
clue for re 6/24 please
yay, ok.. maybe a good luck charm? saving them and the liver for the neighbor's pooch, cutting up giblets for the gravy
Oh, no! Spangle is gone? Babble pets are beloved to all of us.
re6/24 - Latin for queen
Yes, Scrabbler, I'm afraid so.
ty Haz
You're welcome, Aloy.
What happened, Haz?
Aloy, we always use them in the gravy! Everyone would fight for the heart and giblets before I started doing that
but you leave the liver out, right?
I'm sorry for your loss, Haz. Is that Spangle's picture? He/she looks so gentle
She had been slowing up a bit but on Saturday she became terribly lethargic, refused her meal and just looked disoriented. She was no better on Sunday, we had her seen at the surgery. She was anaemic and a urine test revealed that she was in kidney failure.
tyy haz got it
We had her put to sleep on Monday morning. She went very gently, there was no struggle as she had become a shadow of herself.
no, the liver gets chopped up too (it basically dissolves in the gravy if cut up and cooked
You're welcome, Matches.
I just reviewed your profile, Haz. You will miss her.
Hi Matches
forever.. still miss my silly Lab so much
so, they live on in our hearts
We all miss her, she was such good company.
I miss my old bunnies!
weirdest gh8 I've ever seen
over the past 15 years, we've had to put down 3 different pets: the aunty's cat; our first dog; and then Tommy the cat. My daughter and I have been the 2 to do it. We hold the pet and comfort it out. I just couldn't do it any other way.
Time for me to go. Bye for now!
Bye Haz.
bye, Haz (( ))
bye Haz.
Bye haz nice to see you it has been awhile.
back again - hugs and love to Haz!!! So tough to lose a companion...
I like your icon, chic
Hugs
phantom: geode. I think I've entered that 3 times already
Keep trying, Nef.
good morning everyone:)
is there a word there? I'm trying...
Hi Crossy!
crossy is so happy, there is a new bacon product!
Oops, I was joking, Nef. I tend to keep trying phantoms and I make myself laugh.
What, Crossy?
new bacon product?
hi crossy.. tell us about it!
J+D foods has created the perfect postal accesory they are called "mmmmvelopes" so now when you seal a letter, you to not get ichy paste on yer tongue, you get the taste of bacon!
send
are you serious? (I tend to be gullible)
So silly.
mmmvelopes:) you heard it here first!
it is true aloy
you can go to the site and order them now
No problem, Scrabs. I started looking for several other geo words and they didn't exist. Maybe I got it out of my system now.
I am stuck on last word, can someone please clue re6?
did you try ge + a football cheer for ge5.16, Nef?
latin queen, flosey
thanks Aloy, looking
that's hysterical crossy
thanks Aloy. I hadn't tried that yet
re + **** lollabridgida
messed up her last name, lol
http://mmmvelopes.com/
brb.. checking on Mr. Turkey in the overn
oven even
oh yes, happy turkey day to my southern friends!:)
anyone thinking of trying the midnight sales?
thanks Aloy, got it with your second clue
also a town in Saskatchewan
I stay away from stores and malls on Black Friday. In fact I typically do all of my Xmas shopping on-line.
so far, so good.. put a foil tent over it as it is browning nicely.. NO.. I'm allergic to shopping in crowds!
i'd go only if someone paid me
Amazon.com is my friend, my shopping friend
we do all our x-mass ordering from sears.no driving,no walking for miles in some mega mall, your order the stuff and in 3 days it is delivered right to yer door
I hate shopping and avoid black Friday as much as I can. My daughter will be out there the minute any stores opens, though. (Don't know how she is such a polar opposite of me; but I blame a neighbor who would trade toddlers with me because hers hated shopping too!
now that i have a virtual concierge for deliveries, amazon is my friend too :)
no kidding crossy, Sears still delivers? or do you mean by mail?
neighbors must have a new puppy.. yapping fills the air
they deliver with a cube van to our local sears dept then from there right to our door..anything
okay, crossy; it it's between a Kindle and an Nook; which would you get someone who forgets how to operate things?
the nook!
the nook is more..adaptable
wow, that's great Crossy
kindle fire
i'm going for that one
the nook touch or the nook colour
going to try to read myself back to sleep, be back at flip
really? I'm definitely thinking of getting one for DH; but his memory for new things is short and/or unreliable
Bye flosey
i still find the kindles too, proprietary
(he's now LOST his keys AND the 2nd set of house keys too!)
i must have multiple file formats and be able to go in any library and download e-pub book files
What do you mean, Crossy? (And you know I have a Nook Color)
aargh, missed the red-breasted birdie with the lilting song.. it goes bob bob bobbin along
i will not be limited to amazon and free sites for my books
thanks Aloy
(-: yw
with the nook,i can load many formats anywhere and go into any library here and borrow an e-book
what version would be easiest to use?
both have roughly the same ease of use,but with more fileformats the coice is clear
fw.. any clues needed before I go back to the kitchen?
choice
do the books go away when you "borrow" them; or do they stay and you get charged more?
5 th column, 4th row N clue please?
i see your point crossy, but i think with the availability of kindle online trading libraries and my local library doing kindle books, i'll have my choice
and with my nook, the batter is consumer replacable
they stay for 17 days then the file degrades
ok, ..
battery
almost black as ****t
in the states, you have that choice, travel with the kindle then it is a whole new ball game
TY, Aloy
then extend it
that is why all of us outside the grand ole us of a use nooks, kobo,s or sony readers
with a comparative ending
Watching the Thanksgiving Day Parade; anyone else doing so?
it's the thing i don't like about the home country, crossy, the cap on internet access and weird things like that
forgot about it.. will put it on, ty Nef
Yes Nef, I love it. : )
I need the 2nd and 3rd row O's for NBT.
our data caps are horrid!!
better to watch it on TV than be there :)
o + ***r John Letter
way too crowded and can't see anything unless you get a good spot
we have 3 mega corps with a stranglehold on the entire market
That is from the top O.
sometimes there are caps on what we in the US can access in other countries too. I've been unable to enter several UK sites in the past; not sure why
o + the smallest great lake with a different vowel to start
i forgot last year and stuck my parent's with extra usage bill :(
oops
o + **noculars to watch * bird
ty aloy
or how about the Or****al rug? Did I hit it yet?
ty again
I need the lone O.
h'mm, maybe you need the past tense of what you row a boat with?
oh... sorry.. that one is the State I'm from up north with a different vowel ending
Got it now. oh4!
Scrab, a state with a diff. vowel ending
good Scrabble word
I need a break--Babble Blindness has set in.
i'm missing an o still, the one on the top row
hi, folks - happy thanksgiving!
have the o +***r john
that one is.. Shirlock clued it
oo 5/10?
oo + I t***d to pass halfwaym and I did.
hi welki, same to you! and off I go to check the turkey.. have a great day, everyone..
aha, got it, thx
scrabbs, thanks for your fb message :)
Hi welki. I sent a FB msg. It's hard to be patient when ill, isn't it?
ty all,the o,s are history!
incredibly difficult ... tired of sitting, laying down
hi crossy
howdy wlki
welki*
last go6?
more messy, like a horror flick
do you have "more mushy"?
Hi Une
ty! welk
yes, une, but ty
hey, scrabs :-)
the pecan pie i made is go6, une
welki, what's wrong?
hi again all, leaving for the zoo shortly
hi nef - whining about some pneumonia
hey, sue!
Oh, fun, Sue. Do you mean the college campus though?
have fun, sue!
Clues for the 8's?
oh, yuk! I hope it won't interfere with your fishing! (I was worried about that)
nope, Brookfield Zoo near Chicago
only 8 i have so far is the gh8 which is PT of the gh6
re8/40 and gh8/60
gh8 past tense of gh6/27
gh6 is g + female pronoun + two vowels
re 8 is something you do with confused people; the gh 8 is pt of a stupid gh 6/27
Clue for gh6?
oh, it already has, nef. i was ill the first two weeks of the month (doc said, 'just a cold), went back to work the third and off again
what kje said :-)
TY. Odd words.
very! LOL
yes, really weird grid today
(((welki))) get well before ice fishing season sets in!
thanks, nef :)
BRB Kingsport TN marching band performing!! *poof*
g + superman's a super ***extra vowel*
I found re8.
I can't imagine ice fishing (either in a cabin or outside) with a lingering bronchitis
ty for the re8
it's more fundamental than that, nef ... can't imagine going ANYWHERE with this cough *lol*
reiron
is not a word
yw
mullein is the goto herbal for cough. It's naturalized most everywhere - any by you?
I do hear you, welki. I was thinking about being outside with it. Home (with humidity) is best
i need to cough, rasta, to clear out my lungs - but thanks :)
mullein is the goto remedy for all lung ailments. It doesn't just suppress the cough.
I've never heard of it before, rasta. Am checking it out
scrabbs? did you get the gh6 from my crazy clue?
uno
FW!
OK, off to shower and get dressed before making the salad... have a great day all
did someone say there is a gh8?

google "mullein bronchitis" for a bunch of sites. Here's a good one: "Like coughs, colds and sore throats, the mucilage and saponins contained in mullein may also help to ease your symptoms if you're suffering from bronchitis or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, or COPD. Mullein can help to treat bronchitis and COPD by assisting the discharge of mucus from the lungs and reducing inflammation in the respiratory tract, says the University of Michigan Health System. http://www.livestrong.com/arti cle/133404-mullein-herbal-benefits/#ix zz1edoye4nG

i remember a baby sitter of my boy not knowing to put water in the pot to cook frozen hot dogs--always good to be specific
Finally! Thanks again Griffums!

whoo hoo jbv!
or my less than intelligent sister in law baking a ham with the plastic wrap on
my ex-husband tried to make a mac-n-cheese dinner and didn't drain the pasta. that isn't why I divorced him tho. yw JBV!
and you trusted your kid with her?
cooking ability was not known about in advance
she is a doctor now
Sadly, people also have to be told to remove the giblets before roasting.
my ex sister in law used to leave the plastic wrap on cheese-single sandwiches. yes we got rid of her too.
thank goodness she is not a chef
how do you get the stuffing in if the cavity is filled with giblets?
uhhh, you remove them
haha obviously it was a cooking challenge family
Believe it or not, some people don't stuff. Sacrilege.
WHAT!?!?!?!?!!?!? no stuffing
yes we could have just let them starve themselves and saved a lot on divorces
*faints*
She told her daughter to do that as well Molly
hi, babblers
Daughter said she couldn't find any lol
I have a turkey question - why is it that when they process them they put the giblet pack where the head used to be, and the neck where the giblets used to be?
It must be a terrorist plot molly
i have always wondered that myself griff
i did a honey ham..no pig necks to deal with:)))
she should look again--they can be stuck way back
do pigs have giblets?
and how can you make giblet gravy without taking the giblets out?
good question jm
yes but we call the guts
these and other deep thoughts stagger the cosmos:)
ham is good but not thankgiviny
She probably just glanced in and didn't see them...I doubt a newbie would stick her hand in there
that's intestinal fortitude for you jm
ru, that's just offal....
i try other things than turkey last 5 years or so,got soo tired of turkey twice a year growing up,the levfovers lasted from christmas to easter:(
she couldn't stomach it?
sorry.. I didn't mean to bladder on
Love leftovers....one Thanksgiving I fixed Cavitini...was not the same
np ruru.i always mean to blabber on
i make turkey at christmas because my sister and i never have decent corn bread stuffing on thanksgiving since she is with yankees and i am usually at a hotel
well you have always had heart ru
but the gall telling jokes! tsk

yes m9 you can bowel us over with your puns
there are still lots of giblets available
sixth (or more) generation southerner
the day i get good cornbread up here is the day i stop the world so i can get off.here it is very dry and tasteless and the sole property of steak house chains
ru you're such a potty mouth

I stuff. with an apple walnut stuffing.
NO SUGAR in cornbread -- my grandmother called that yankee cornbread
and for god's sake don't think you have to put any sugar in it!
ohh.. I hate that cakey cornbread that restaurants make
lol you still fighting the north?
...or, what jmc just said
til the day i die crossy lol
we watched gone with the wind last night on amc
love the way scarlett blew the guys face off on the stairs
we will be watching The Hogfather to get the season going...
then your bake it in a 350 oven and it comes out hot and crispy edged and . . . . .*sob* . . . . I want a kitchen
mmmm
real cornbread...mmm
mm.. crispy edges!!
what if you roll the dough in fat shoestrings..then it will all be crispy edges;))))
*sniff* oiling up the cast ir** skillet and a real hot oven are the trick
or you can make hush puppies and drop them in hot oil crossy
my large cast iron is full of link sausage at the moment.. I'd have to use one of my other ones..
ohhh...
crossy wants
*call Peta asap*
i get so lazy when there's a bunch of words starting with vowels, i just type in all the babblets i can think of and hope for the best
i have one just for cornbread really
mmm,,deep fried puppies...
haha leslie did that work for you?
*wants to watch Leslie play darts*
helped with the o's :)
ok, santa has arrived Molly
or 6.. asia
i am only good at darts when intoxicated. not sure what that says about me, but there you have it.
Mrs Santa is wearing a green dress
good for you leslie.. I can't be trusted with sharp pointy things while intoxicated.
then cornbread dressing is two pans of cornbread, a loaf of bread, celery, tons of sage, a couple of cups of chicken broth and eggs til mushy. squish with your fingers and put in a turkey with extra outside to catch the fat
Hooray for Santa! I thought Mrs. Santa looked especially festive.
indeed ruru,i even buy my booze in plastic containers just so i do not have glass handy
yay for santa and mrs claus
I've got another ten minutes before the parade even starts.....
she really does
i don't think they sale jack in plastic
I do the New England herb stuffing with celery and onion. And giblet juice. Yum.

gh 8 is just weird

go 4 grief -- missed the volcano!
got the gh words... WACK!
wtg monkey -- a clue please?
gh + abbrev for hospital "urgent" place + 2 vowels... then PT for the 8
bizarre
the definition is pretty amusing, actually :)
a form of industrial action in India in which workers imprison their employers on the premises until their demands are met
that's funny!
Like a mutiny?
that is one way to negotiate
super-mutiny
ty monkey
yer welkie
Hi Lil, happy turkey day. : )
thanks Moll, you too! I'm going to go make my tacos soon
No turkey for me! Too dry
not dry if properly roasted
Ah, but you have not had my brined, basted in butter and white wine turkey. Not dry at all. : )
ge 5/14, please?
type, category
ty -- often miss that one!
yw :-)
mmmm -- sending that yummy go 5 to the pb
*just in case ;)
waiting for ride to friends' house for turkey . . . watching Godfather :-)
leave the gun, take the cannoli
Luca Brazzi sleeps with the fishes . . .
it's a Sicilian message . . .
ready to go to the mattresses . . .
love this movie!! LOL
Everyone says that I have yet to eat a properly cooked turkey, but HEY I"m 54, believe me I've tried it every which way and I'm telling you IT'S DRY
On that note, I'm off to the kitchen to make my tacos :) ... and NO they are not tukey, they are ground beef
yum, turkey's soooo good!! :-)
monkey LOL!!
monkey" my trick, after stuffing it with a very moist and buttery stuffing, is to cover it with cheesecloth slathered with more butter and paprika and seasoned salt, then cover with aluminum
it is never dry and I've made MANY
ooohhh, i remember my mom covering it with cheesecloth . . . hi, ruby :-)
only uncover and baste for the last hour until golden
bonjour une
ok . . . BBL . . . HAGD!! *poof*
*!* ta da *!* -- not bad at all with the list
love all that butter, ruby :)
it's the only way!
and ta da to you, nan
Some people just don't like turkey, no matter how you cook it.
i'm stumbling along as usual, listlessly!
dryer buzzer going -- brb
hello molly
I've made some converts over the years....
Putting butter in between the skin and the meat makes it pretty moist.
I even do that with regular roast chicken
actually, if you put butter on your bedroom slippers, they would probably be delicious, too
Pretty much, fowl roasted without some care will turn out dry.
since it is so hard to get big American turkeys here, we eat capon now which is wonderful tho slightly different taste
Ruby, I will never forget your Christmas capon that lived in your yard all those days. : )
funny that you remember that, molly!
It's a classic holiday story. : )
(blushing)
anyone want clues before I leave?
I haven't even reached half as I started so late
but thanks, nan
If anyone likes extra dressing, like we do -- brown the neck in butter and put in a metal bowl full of dressing mix -- pop in the oven for the last hour or so
Happy Thanksgiving to all the US players :)
Happy Thanksgiving Nan!
*cover the bowl with foil
imagine explaining the holiday (in French) to French people. Pas possible!
when is Canadian Thanksgiving, October, no?
(((ruby)))
yup
{{crossy}}
I made the appt for the 6th, was hoping to see you
Brining is my solution. That, and cooking a whole bone-in turley breast when it's just a few of us. The biggest chalenge is getting the thigh and leg meat done without cooking the breast meat into extinction. I've tried bottom side up and then righting the bird for the last forty five minutes, cooking it wind side up and flipping evey half hour, cheesecloth, tinfoil, etc. And in the end, it's impossible to get both parts of the bird to the correct temperature unless you disassemble and cook the legs and breast separately, which deprives the guests of the "oooh...aahhh" Norman Rockwell presentation at the table.

Also low and slow all night, a butter and herb run over and under the skin...
(Sorry about the double post--my enter key is sticking on my netbook and I left my "good" computer at work!
it's that gravy making the keys stick
any clues for the y word please
Or maybe cranberry sauce...
hi ruby
Indian word for female part
{{bichon}}
It's a yo/4 Hindi word for female genitalia
yo4/6
I guess we're part of the Kama Sutra generation.... lol
ty ruby
and now i must leave you all,but before i head to work,i give you by popular request crossy,s tidbit of the day!!!
Yes, we speak of little else around our house. ;-)
haha, jan
Studies in space have shown that birds cannot survive in weightless environments, since they require gravity in order to swallow food.
ruby, happy holiday
So no turkey dinners on Mars, eh? Hardly worth planning a manned mission then.
tc all and happy babbling!..poink!
thank you bichon
Bye crossy!
how many peeps at your table, bichon?
6 including one 4 y.o. who never eats much
I am still in the cooking process. They are running late
and marco and polo under the table, hoping something drops....
they are getting the turkey liver
I'm just getting started. Guests not arriving for about six hours.
I used the liver in the stuffing
also the gizzards
I don't eat liver. Wouldn't make it in France. Mushrooms either
I've stopped eating mushrooms since I once poisoned myself with some wild ones -- just mild digestive poison, but they make me queasy now
No liver in my bird this time. It's weird but in the US chicken and turkeys seem to come with miscellaneous organs in a pouch. Sometimes no liver, sometimes no gizzard, once I got a chicken with three hearts in its pouch.
<-- loves liver
And there are so many lovely liver pates in France, with cognac or calvados.
do you put chestnuts in the stuffing?
Jan, the first year I tried brining, I wanted to kick myself for not trying it years before.
pls tell me what brining is
It really does keep the bird moist and seasons the meat as well. Try putting a few juniper berries in the brine!
soaking the turkey in a brine mixture for 24 hours before putting it in the oven
in the bathtub?
Its an overnight soak in kosher salt, spices, onions and garlic. I put some maple syrup in mine as well. In a five gallon bucket.
yes, I've heard about maple syrup molly
I use a huge pot, but you can also use a picnic chest. Throw in a few of those frozen freezer packs to keep the brine cold and you don't have to take up the whole fridge
I never heard of that before, but I've never made a dry turkey
Works brilliantly for lean pork roasts too.
my dear mother taught me well!
what is a wet turkey ruby?
moist, bichon
everybody was complaining about dry turkeys earlier
you don't mean braising?
The other benefit of a brine is that you can subtly flavor the meat. Turkey breast in particular can be a little boring...
No, brining is pre-cooking. There's a great extended discussion of braising a turkey in this month's Cooks Illustrated
I don't find turkey meat as boring as chicken
I miss American turkey
but chickens here are better than American ones - stronger-tasting nad fat
My chef friends say that chicken is for people who don't want any taste in their food. Unfair perhaps, but there's something to it
People pay $16 per pound here for a free range organic turkey
send them to my house if they want to try a tasty chicken!
ruby you are right about American chickens. You have to go to a specialty store to get good tasting chicken
the chickens here are wonderful; French turkeys weigh about 8 lbs and cost about $75
we used to buy American ones in Geneva, but I thought it was insane to pay more than $100 for a turkey
Raising your own chickens is a bit of a fad here in Seattle.
when they give them away free at American supermarkets
When I was first married )and broke) we used to buy the biggest turkey we could find on sale, roast it and divide all the meat up into little foil packets for casseroles and stews for weeks. Got a little tired of turkey fricassee, turkey cacciatore, turkey curry, turkey lasagna...
I still can't see the 'what to do with turkey leftovers' features that run in the paper just after Thanksgiving without giving thanks that we don't have to live quite that frugally these days.
that's one of the great things about having dogs, especially big ones!
meat never goes to waste
Bet that's true!
hi all....clue please for go5/16?
(timer has gone off--must rescue roasted pumpkin and puree for pumpkin custard later today...)
hello flask, don't have it.....
bye jan
Me neither. Grid is taking a back seat to cooking...
Bye all. It's back to the kitchen for me! Have a good Thanksgiving, for those who are celebrating, wherever in the world you be!
go5/18, tho....
add sometimes vowel to the go4/6
The Go5/18s. Great movie.
Is there a go5/16 also?
yes
Does anyone have it?
not me.....
not me
go5/16 think of a female higher being
it's like "waiting for go*** only change the second vowel
thanx!
got it, thanks
ok not getting the go 6 clue more help please
thanks
go6/24 like after the ice cream melts it's go****
go6 more sticky

good night everybody
bye ruby, hello all
I am struggling with the Y today -- any help?
y + first part of smelly vegetable
oh teach, it HAD to be that one, didn't it?!?
LOL thanks.
that gives me NBT
congrats
how's your day going? we are about 45 minutes away from "the main event" -- I think.
I decided to skip the cranberry sauce this year, though I might make a chutney with the berries later...
we have about 1 hr and 30 m inutes - always make cranberry orange relish
but need to go make last arrangements - BBL this evening when all is done and over - happy thanksgiving to all
that would be a nice one, too. Later teach!
halfway and some to spare. back later again... *poof*

Oh, I had it already. I need the stats on the other 8.
oh Kap the other 8 is gh8
Oy.
gh8/60
Clue it? I don't have any gh words.
oy vey is right, you'll probably need a "spell it out" clue
g + female pronoun and then 3 vowels
gh + hospital "urgent" place + 2 vowels... then PT
Not one of those "crooked letter, first letter, sometimes vowel, 14th letter" type clues...
I didn't say crooked letter, haha
Looking for the right vowels- gimme a minute
br6 after the thorn patch?
add a consonant to end, Shril
Shirl
thx peri
Ha-ha- looking for the vowels...
you can call me anything you like if you clue me :)

yw

this grid is a slow-go.
name that Treaty city.
I might need a little nap action
Versailles?
Gh word. No Versailles in the grid.
lol I know, duh!
Who has already eated their meal?
eaten.
ghent
ME! I made tacos and had a brewsky
ding ding ding.
ding ding ding.
ding ding ding.
Cool, lil Monkey.
Ghent is also a cool neighborhood in Norfolk, Virginia
I used to like it when we were first married to just have soup and go to the movies on Thanksgiving. I have good memories of it, and my husband told our kids we were pathetic.
Boronia should be accepted here. Australian plant - and a suburb
I don't do well with this food & family stuff.
I never outgrew my 20-something dysfunction, I guess, when it comes to events like this.
oh Kap I thought you were a man
Your purse is blue
go5/16?
purse?!
My Babble just got really SLOOW
Nexct to your name is your purse, then your flag
I could be a man, except I happen not to be.
think that is a person - not a purse
Shirlock, variation of spelling for the play "Waiting for Go5"
No lynxx that is a PURSE! lol
TY Lil
Women have pink and men have blue
thx lil, that cleared the g's
Who has a blue purse?
you do, Kap... next to your name and your flag
ppffft - in your eyes only, lol
Those are not purses- they are little heads and shoulders.
Mine is gray.
NO! They are purses!
They are NOT purses.
YES
BET!
I'm a female, but KAPLAN is a male. Confused?
It's a PERSONA.
It allows me to be witty.
As is mine... did u think I was REALLY a monkey?
Kinda.
Maybe you haven't seen my pictures on Facebook?
I like lil monkeys.
Or is it monkies?
No I haven't...
the plural is monkees, like the band
Why isn't it monkies anyway?
I am not connected with any babblers on FB. I have enough mishegos.
I have to go pretend to be helpful.
Is mishego a mensch?
BBL.
the opposite Lil, mishegos = crazy woman

Hi Everyone - Just returned from stuffing myself. Yummy - Snore.

scuba; my work computer blocks it with vengeance! Something about the r46.me domain being a known malware source.
Just popping in to wish all my US Babble buddies the very happiest of Thanksgivings. Enjoy, eat, drink, and be merry!
thanks soodle....i'm full of turkey and s-l-o-w-l-y working the grid
Thanks Soodle. I can't eat, drink or be any merrier or I will explode.
Leaving soon for Thanksgiving dinner with friends.
Enjoy, enjoy!
LOL JM & Vermont.
Have a great dinner, Scrabbs. And I am so glad that so many of my friends have so much to be thankful for. (One sentence, with three 'so's..?)
My friend is making some vegetarian dishes for me.
Roasted ro4 veggies.

hello all
hi jilli :)
hi jillibus
lone o is a babblet; like the state with different last letter
ty saan, will go to bed happy now
hi Jilly, how's the wind out your way?
Is jmitch still here? Just wanted to say the Lickety clues site is not malware and you can ignore the warning. Mrp is aware of it and says the site is clean and safe, and she would never send malware out.
yw chrissie
The wind is blowing a glae, saan -- for you too?
*gale
not at present but earlier knocked off shakes and my house is leaking. oh woe.
oh dear! Well, my garage door opener's motor conked out a few days ago so it's left open and the garage is full of oak leaves and other blown-around stuff.
wow. finally 1/2way
"glae" is a nice word though Jilli
does anyone have the re7 please
jilli....I'm sure it's not mrp's malware...it's the domain of r46 that my work computer IT folks have blocked
and jilli pull the release on your door and you should be able to close it
hope not, I just went through and got the list!
thanks, jmitch, but I've left the door open on purpose -- want shelter for my car and the convenience of access to it from the utility room. And anyway, I don't have the strength to pull it down -- I tried at one point.
Thank you Jmitch. I've been saying that for days. It's clear from the Google details page that there is a problem with the r46 site.
saan, the site is perfectly safe -- don't worry. I guess it's jmitch's work place that block it, as he says.
Hello Molly, and the happiest of Thanksgivings to you and yours!
Molly, would telling mrp that be of any help in getting rid of the warning?
Doh! And of course to everybody else here!!
Hi Soodle. It's my favorite part of Thanksgiving. All done! (Except making stock from the carcass)
Hi soodle!
Yep, Moll. theres always a sigh of relief when its all over, and you've done your bit!!
If you click on the link to Lickety's list here, and see the warning, then click on "Why Was This Page Blocked". It explains why the site has problems.
(((Jilli))) Lovely to see you. Happy Thanksgiving!
Thanks, Soodle, but Canada's Thanksgiving was in early October
It's all over for another year, whew
Soodle, I'm reading a wonderful book about Ireland -- "The Speckled People" by Hugo Hamilton. Do you know it?
Hi bichon.
hi jili, Soodle
Ooops, sorry, Jilly. Silly me. Nope, I haven't heard of that book, nor the author, but I will be sure to keep an eye out for it. Hi (((Bichon))))
Soodle, the book was published in 2003 and it got rave reviews.
While I missed having one of my sons and my daughter in law here today, I was happy to send home a veritable feast for them to have later, when he gets her home from the hospital.
It's a very poignant memoir.
How lovely, molly!
Ah.. I just googled that book Jilli, and I recall hearing the author being interviewed on the radio. He came across as down to earth, intelligent, and very human. The book is on my wish list for Christmas...(offspring of Soodle...take note...)
Is your d.i.l. sick molly?
<-----What Bich said...
That's great, soodle -- hope you get it -- if not, maybe a library has it?
Oh, I'll get it by hook or by crook, Jilli!
Molly, I hope all is well with your 'girlie-inl-law'.
Coming up on midnight here, and time for bed. Once again, Happy Thanksgiving to all the US Babblers, and I pray that you all have loads to be grateful for. Night all.
ttfn Soodle
gnight soodle -- nice to have seen you
I hope Molly re-emerges -- I'd like to know about her d-i-l too!
any one have stats on that lone Y?
Sorry, I was wrestling a turkey carcass for the rights to stock makings. Girlie in law has Crohn's and has been in the hospital due to a flare up. She is on the mend.
yo4/6, JM
Oh, poor girl -- that's a nasty thing.
tahnks jilli
It's been a tough couple of weeks for her and my son. I'm glad they have a nice dinner to come home to and some time to spend together.
I wrestled a multiplicity of chicken carcasses the other day and made stock. I freeze the bones and things until I have several.
I'm glad to hear she's getting better molly
ooh, never expected to find a bo6/30 here!
picky picky jilli!
LOL saan!
Thanks Bich. It's a nasty disease and she's trying very hard to get it under control so they can *YAY* start a family.
I guess it would be very difficult to take care of a baby while you have Crohn's
having Crohns myself I can attest to that.
and a pregnancy could make it worse. And the drugs to control it, might be forbidden in pregnancy
Didn't know that, saan -- poor you! But you have it under control?
I also got early arthritis (severe) from it. Very exhausting to raise a family. Good luck to her and best wishes. I hear there are several new meds which "help"
Good luck to her and to you, Saan
it comes and goes Jilli. Infuruates me when I am not "up to" doing things. Like today.
Thanks Jilli, that means a lot.
Hi
One of our former library patrons here has a bad case of Crohn's. He looked like a skeleton at one time but did find some help. He's moved away now, to Vancouver.
hi herin
Howdy. On that note. In Melbourne at the moment they are doing studies to help people with Crohns
I hope they are successful.
hi all, home from the zoo!
Hi sue -- had a happy Thanksgiving?
Jill Aus does lead the way in research for things.
Sue is this the family zoo?
Girlie is a pediatric ER nurse and is generally in very good health. She does get these occasional flare ups though.
we did, jilli, although we did not celebrate in the traditional way
no, herin, this was an actual zoo - Brookfield Zoo near Chicago
it was free today so we went, figured it wouldn't be crowded
O Cool. Well with my family visiting them is like visiting a zoo
yeah, I don't have much family, herin, and cooking a giant meal for the three of us didn't seem to make sense
*Passes Sue a turkey and stuffing sandwich*
thx, molly! actually the cafeteria at the zoo had a Thanksgiving dinner on the menu!
Sue the Zoo sounds fun
ogrier doesn't work :(
so I had that while Frank ate his chips, peanuts, and snack bar from home, with a cup of tea
Shrek would not approve.
it was, herin! we saw lions and tigers although no elephants
We went to a Zoo after dark music thing. It was Fabba. I don't like Abba too much but we got free tickets from the house mate as he and his partner at the time couldn't go
it is actually quite a large zoo and we didn't have time to see it all (spent about 4.5 hours there)
Was it quiet?
Sorry -- did an email check -- a friend sent a great video about pollination -- amazing photography: http://www.youtube.com/v/xHkq1edcbk4?v ersion=3
Hello Harry
it was pretty quiet, herin, and we had a really good time
hi harry
Sue that is great. That is what I was getting at. Everyone was too busy watching the show. I even got one on one with a Gorilla. It was great. Big beast behind glass looking at me
here's its web site: http://www.czs.org/czs/
I got some video of a leopard on the other side of the glass from me, very cool
herin, I hear Melbourne has a really good zoo.
It is good. Melbourne Zoo and Werribee Open Range is great
hola
Melbourne Zoo, Healesville Sanctuary and Werribee Open Range Zoo All these are fantastic
hi, science!
HI Overlass
Underlass, I am too full
I wonder if my son and I will have time to get to Melbourne
hi sci!
hi jill!
Naughty Science. May go to a friends for Polish food tonight. Because that is always a ''Your too skinny EAT more affair''
i am too fat lol
Well her mother is going to do the cooking so yes. Food food and food

hi everyone!
yay, lbd!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !
HI LB and you done?
just finished, herin.
hi lbd -- whoopee for you!
hi Jilli!, UU and of course our lovely Herin!
I'm not liking this grid -- have struggled to 100 words. Going to take a break which may turn out to last quite a while
Yah LB
oh, and guess what else I saw at the zoo?
what did you see at the zoo, UU?
a hyrax!
A what?
actually several hyraxes. They are very cute.
They are cute. Besides I thought you said a Lorax
must go google hyrax
they were, as I recall, in the grid the other day
Hyrax was in the grid one Friday (icon clue day) and I posted a picture of one.
Jill must remember that
I remember that, jilli, but it was fun to see them in the flesh, as it were
oh, they are cute. kinda groundhog-ish
oh yes, I bet, sue
I'm uploading pictures to facebook
Sue am I your friend on FB?
ob in
Ooops, sorry. Slipped there.
dunno, herin, I am Suzanne Willis there
hello Gail
Hi
No you aren't but I sent you a request. I am NS
ok, I confirmed you (I see we have 27 mutual friends :-)
YEp All babble
pictures are there (a couple of them are blurrier than they looked on the phone)
I love Meerkats
they were SOOOO cute!!
The new Royal Childrens Hospital has a display of them to help the kids feel better
they certainly made me feel better :-)
also it was nice and warm in the building - pretty windy and chilly outside!
brr
Saw your pix, sue -- thanks for posting them! Too bad Mr Gorilla (Mrs?) is a bit blurred but most of them are great!
thx, jilli, it looked nice on the phone or I would have taken another one :-)
wonderful zoo, though!
We haven't been to the zoo in ages
wow -- last night I couldn't see any H words -- now whizzed through them all!
Did you put new eyes in Jill?
must have, herin!
30 left now -- maybe I can get this done after all!
I think you can do it Jill
i KNOW you can jili. and hi sue and herin

I did that earlier, doren, but here I am, lol!
ok, also uploaded a video of the leopard
not yet, doren, sorry
Hi Everyone. I'm back after my post-turkey nap. Now perhaps I can make some progress on this grid. Hope all USA folks had a great Thanksgiving - and got to hear Alice's Restaurant at noon. I did.
Meow to much turkey?
It the tryptophane. Gets me every time.
Nice napping, meow!
Yup, it sure was, Jill!
West coat USA is still at the pre-dinner hour...
Oh, we usually do Thanksgiving mid-afternoon. Today it was at 2:00.
Four little girls and one little boy in a house you can run around in a circle in. Poor little boy. Those girls were merciless! And squeals - yikes!
We've been having a stupendous wind and rainstorm -- ferries cancelled all over the place. My next-door neighbours were supposedly heading for Vancouver today because they have ticket$ for Saturday's big Grey Cup pro football final -- maybe they'll go tomorrow after this storm is over. Then there's getting back, and another one is on the way...
Oh Meow, that sounds like fun for the little ones -- even the tormented little boy!
hi vermont!
The clipper had tonturn back to victoria today... Hey all
I would have had to leave. I hate girl squeels. Drives me on edge
and jilli, sorry to hear about the wind and rain, hope you have a nice fireplace to snuggle up to!
Not really here, just watching tv
HI, stid!
Not really seeing you, stid -- you blew away?
Poke the Stid
Hi unsue. Jill, I hope you have no damage from that storm. Well, I must say he was the most accommodating little boy. Whenever they were told not to run, they kept going around the house - walking fast. LOL! The meal was delicious.
thanks, sue -- no problem for me, snug as a bug in a rug with electric heat and a propane fireplace if the power goes out, which it hasn't and now the wind is abating.
Poke lady...
Just seeing if you are there
she's not, herin -- she said she wasn't
well I just need more coffee then
re6,24 any clues?

WTG, Jill! Con grats!
Ok they asked What is your fav movie munchie. I answered Pop Corn and Choc top (ice cream in a cone with hard chocolate on the top). I believe they had to flick to my profile live on air to figure out were I resided
congrats, jilli
Yah Jill
we call chocolate tops drumsticks.
See we don't as Drumsticks are different to that here
brb, need some tea
last word, te6/21, a shipworm, yuk!
But up North Choc TOps are Choc bombs
Nutty Buddy is what that kind of ice cream is called here, and is topped with peanuts
Drumsticks are more like Ice cream cone sundays
I so forget sometimes to Americanise my Aussisms
O Im such a goose. I can run my podcast through my stereo. ONe hour in and I just remember
drumstick is a sensible name for the confection
ok, I want to go put my feet up soon but need the lower left t, the e near the lower left, and the o to the right of center for nbt. Shamelessly asking for clues :-)
et4 mountain

Brb need more coffee. or something

Yes I hear ya... sounds more like the bullfighter word
and now I have nbt, yay chat!

Ok I know what I mean. Caffien time

I mean the Talking horse ending not the word.

I don't think i have heard it in that context.
"did you color your hair?" Yes, i he7 it with a purple

just what I was thinking - thought it was always red (brownish red)

surely the natural ones are the reddish chestnut ones?
kitchen time
I hear the ferries (or some of them) are running again.

any clue for the re8 ?
nm...got it
coffee has been found
gr7,36 anybody?
More grumbling
Hi all. Just wondering if Lickety still works.
yes, it gives warnings but seems actually to be fine
yes but some won't use it because chrome and foxfire give malware warnings
Skoo it does
skooj, yes, lickety still works.
hi all
hi, jmc!
hi jmc!
I still get a red box and warning. Is there a new way to link to it?
click on the ignore warning button (or wording to that effect). the warning is from google not the site.
I just ignore the worning
warning. It isn't as if you are entering credit card details
or, if you are a pc user, email lickety and get babble expert
i just told it to click through anyway and my computer seems fine after a week
Thanks, all. I don't get the option to ignore, so I will email lickety for babble expert. thanks everyone.
I have the link to expert in my profile
it says something like a green button that says continue
Thanks uusue!
skoo, the list is in my profile
(you have to scroll past the astronomy to get to the link)
Thanks so much all.
proceed anyway is the button skooj
it is a zip file that you have to unzip and then run
Ok, will do. Thanks. Hope you all have a great Thanksgiving.
couldn't you say "Watson the game is ab4/6!"?
