just tell him if he's ok with you going out and buying all new ones that's fine with you! :-)
She is going to be very cross at herself when she gets over the initial shock, she is supposed to be coming down here in a few months - a long held wish
Hello everyone

busy. Substituting for orch director at my HS for about 8 or 9 schooldays. I should be grading theory assignments right now! I've been reheasing Bernstein Candide overture this week. I'm a conductor! Who knew!?
We knew you were talented!

Have fun Rose, bye
whoa, melon....way to go, girl....i'm impressed.
If she comes back maybe one of us can ask Flosey to get an address for the hospital and we could send cards or notes

tx grannyrose.
now i am really outta here. * poof *
I would LOVE to have mad musical skills like conducting!
what I am madly skilled at is faking it til I make it!
hey all -- I saw the messages, and just sent a note to Flo to get details. It is possible Jill has email access at the hospital, too.
LOL.
just coming in... how's the grid today?
hi Stid - thankyou
I was thinking that too stid
seems OK grid
I googled Jubilee hospital and got this address:
seriously, I have no performing ambitions on the podium (famous last words!), having been a second chair bassist all my career. I'm rehearsing the orchestra and what I bring is that "inside baseball" how-to to pass on to the kids. I sweat the details—pitch, ensemble, how to break a part down and practice it bit by bit. The regular orch teacher is having minor surgery. My goal is to return the orch in top shape. I also conduct another ensemble, and a section each of mus theory and mus history. And I do it backwards in high heels ;)
Royal Jubilee Hospital, 1952
I'll get it this time 1952

Dianne, you're wonderful! (in Taiwan for now?)
bay street, victoria (where are my glasses?)
I did tell the students i want them to be so good he'll be just a little scared...
Thank you Dianne!
I'm in Hong Kong
oh gee, sorry -- Hong Kong. Hope the weather is nice!
crazy week. I got to choir Tuesday and director asked if I'd take a solo in one B. I said sure. But we didn't practice it that night. No rehearsal Wed, but I got to run through it once on Thursday. I'm just learning ALL the music since I joined so late.
did they think that was funny melon?
Stid...what is Jilli's surname please
It's chilly here - 54 F but sunny.
yes, I said it with a smile.
does she want that typed in chog?
Evans, Lynxxx
Not sure but do you think Hospital staff can find a patient called Jillibus
What's Jilli's actual name?
TY Stid
rofl... Jill, melon, will work just fine.
Ah! noted! thanks, stid! chat tag was happening.
What is postage US to Canada?
NBT, two to halfway
first class used to be about 89 cents for a letter/card but check the usps website
then Friday he called me at home and asked if I'd take the soprano in a quartet section instead and have the woman who was doing that sing the solo.LOL
(blend was not working in the quartet!)
halfway!!!
nbt nbs 37 to go, but beddy-bye calls. Saw Cleveland Orch tonight with my kids. Great program including Saint-Saëns Organ Symphony. Marin Alsop conducted. She's a firecracker, very lively. Audience was enthusiastic. No, I'm not next!
I said I'd do whatever. I just show up to sing.LOL Thing is, TODAY was the first concert. Melon, don't assign any special numbers the day before a concert, ok?? LOL
There. That's my great musical advice :-P
I'm only the rehearsal conductor so no worries ;)
bye Melon
yes. get some rest melon.
taDah stid. now I shall poff. {poof} There.
sweet dreams, melon
oh, I love Saint-saens!
I need to go to bed soon too. Singing those high B's is tiring.
and I am going to sleep, too. Sweet dreams, all *poof*
Hi Mary.
Check the latest update on profile... links, etc.
Had a fun, busy evening.
And hi, melon. :)
If either of you are still here.
Hi Negativeneil. Jillibus had accident. see Flosey's profile.
Oh no, scouser? I saw Flosey earlier but she didn't mention anything about it?
And "Neil" is fine btw.
Oh man! That's awful... wonder what happened?
Thank you. the formalities must be preserved at first! I think Jillibus had a fall.
Byee all. Health and Safety docs next to be checked here (alias "Elf & Santa rules" as defined at Bath Abbey carol concert where no standing in the aisles was allowed)
PS in yesterday's grid m*rde was allowed - the French swearword. Middle English is everday English in Enable?
Hi, all - someone should maybe say something about Jilli on the Babble Community page in FB?
is jilli ok?? what is happening??
has something happened to Jilli?? I know she got shingles and let us all know about it, but has something happened since then?
yes mrp, please read my bio
thanks flosey, will do
oh no!! poor darling!! did she have a fall at home?? I had no idea!! so so sorry to hear about this!
I don't know where she was mrp but someone took her to our hospital where she was transferred to Victoria - Royal Jupilee Hosp. for surgery, this message came to me from, I presume, a neighbour - I do not know the person
It happened last night, message was sent to me early this morning
Sorry, "back". People talking to me.
oh that is just awful for her!
yes, on to of shingles, too much!
i have her address but not contact number and will call the hospital. that poor lady!
how do I get the number for the hospital?
hello Neil, did you read my bio regarding Jilli
Yes, that's horrible... sure hope she'll be ok?!
hi neil. babblers getting damaged and in hospital. never a good thing
I'll get it for you mrp, just a sec
No kidding, mrp. :(
thank you flosey. what time is it there too please??
Royal Jubilee Hosp, 252 370-8000
i just feel so bad for people that are healthy as race horses, then get downed by breaks. it is not a nice way to lose your independance
it's 12:12 a.m. right now
ok, what is the country code please?
so, will call her in 12 hours, around lunch time. poor jilli
i see it is 1... same as USA
I know, mrp... sure hope she'll come through this ok and heal well.
Please give her my best when you do, mrp?
01, mrp.
them old bones take time neil... and it sounds like a bugger with tendons etc. I will neil... thank you :)
To call North America... 01.
mrp, you would dial l 250 370-8000 to reach the hops.
hosp.
Yeah I know, mrp. :( Worried.
ok. will do flosey... and thank you!
You need to dial the code to place an overseas call from Australia first, mrp... then 01, then the number sequence flosey just gave you.
I called an operator here neil, that is what she told me, as given in post 2:15
[have placed calls from Asia and other countries back to this continent]
yes, just dial 1 for USA and Canada. I think we are 61.
Yes, flosey... but mrp still needs to dial her code for placing an overseas call, then 01, before that sequence. I've done that many, many times.
we have to dial 0011 to get a line out of the country
Like for instance, if I called home from Europe, I dialled 011-01-3 digit area code - local number.
oh neil, I've never called home while visiting anothr country, I'm just going by what the operator here told me
Ok, then here is exactly the sequence you need, mrp: 0011-01-l-250-370-8000.
Well I have, flosey... many, many times.
Try that, mrp... and if by chance it's not right [but I'm sure it is], remove the "1" that's on its own there.
But I'm sure that's right.
Done it enough. :P
I'm really off to bed now, but will leave babble open for anyone else who is interested in reading of Jilli's update
Actually mrp, if you're still here, I'm thinking back and trying to remember and I think you may need to dial it this way after all: 0011-01-250-370-8000.
Try that, then the other if that doesn't work.
But I know one of them is right.
Thanks for letting us all know, flosey.
I'll send an ecard.
Good night and take care. I'm off too.
Sorry mrp, here: 0011-01-250-370-8000.
yay, fw for me, nite, all! :)
thanks neil just back from having dinner. sorry i bolted, but wouldn't have gotten any otherwise! It is my gourmet night and they do not wait for me during service! LOL!
mrp, have sent you an email re: babble expert. Hope it didn't get spammed. thx

Weather Bureau warns to prepare for strong winds, large hailstones and flash flooding... joy
we had all tnat weather this week LOL
am off for the night, to prepare for tomorrow :)) night all :)
apart form the large hailstones
we had small ones - night mrP
hi glant, i posted some hailstone activity earlier in the week... and now we are adjusting to a summer of it! :))
i remember being in sydney in 1975 and seeing your large hailstones for the first time
yes, 75 I remember! it was nasty stuff!!
everybody ran out of their houses throwing mattressess onto their cards and the hailstones were just a little smaller than gofl balls - i was stunned
*cars, even
biggets hailstones we ever have here are 2-3mm
we didn't have insurance for hail then! too bizarre!
our hail comes in golf ball to mandarine size
hail insurance still incurs a payment of $550 here... nasty the way 'God' is charged by our insurance company
well, it is late enough for me to say good night! early enough for me to ready myself for tomorrow's storms :) Night all :))
night night
g'night mrp

drag
oops
I can't believe I got a cold! Every year, when I get out with the masses of humanity, I get sick. I'm sick and tired of waking up sick and tired
even worse, going to hospitals all the time, everything is concentrated in a small area,so i always come away with a present i do not ewant
My doctor told me to stay away from the ER before they kill me.
gm, everyone
hi there.
i hate short grids.
finito
i hate short sunday grids and massive weekday grids
yaa for lbd!!
amen to that, crossy
WTG!
easy peasy grid too
I can't find the S 0/2. Help, please?
i still think dr_g should do my suggestion and add a tab to this with a monthly 10x10 grid of 3000-4000 words
sa4/5 s+ it's a h*** days night
crossy, are you trying to kill me?
lol
ty.\
, Ib
can someone please help me? i need the F 2/3
i'm ignoring crossy's suggestion!
yw, gramma
Put those 2 together and it almost makes sense
gramma, would just be something to keep us going on short grid days and also usefull to tame those "flip" people who kill off all grids in 15 or 20 minutes
fa5, not true, fa4, groupies, fa4, not slow
crossy, I can't hear you....la,la,la,la,la,la,la,la
lol
it would kill those of us with ocd, crossy
I'll tell you what keeps me going, Coffee! brb
WOW, AS IF I DIDNT SEE THAT thanks lbdawger
well,it will be up all month, way i figure it,you would need but 160 words a day on it
yw, aleksiaa
i tried the math on a 5000 grid, but it was too much.as long as they stay between 2 and 3000 most of us should live
so now that i'm done with the grid, i guess this means i have to clean and decorate the house.
may have to give up some hobbies though...like eating...sleeping...that kind of thing
employment! lol
see? if we had that grid, you would not have to go clean house
oh wait, i've all ready given that up.
well, it would just postpone my having to clean the house.
halfway, NBT and NBS - time to go - BBL
howdy teach..goodbye teach
hi bye, wv
thats the problem with teach..too chatty lol
hello all. has anyone seen annie lately?
not i,but only have been on a short while
no, i haven't seen her in quite a while. heard she'd been under the weather.
i am thinking lately i have been on early and have not seen her for a while. i was concerned
can someone please help me with T 0/6?
i have not heard anything
I don't see a t o/6. sorry
I asked Mom about Annie yesterday. Apparently Annie has been "under the weather" (as Mom said). Hope she feels better soon.
found one, :) now im stuck on S 0/11 :|
was going to say, there is no to/6\
on the last line, the T
sp
or an so/6
ty molly. i have been unable to raise her on email and i am worried.
alek we generally list words like so.....at 5/10 so that is the first 2 letters followed by the word total and the point value
Mom said she spoke to Annie's daughter.
letter total*
ohhhhhhhh
right, i see sorry im new to this game haha
no problem
we were all new once;)
haha thats true :)
actually babble is one of those site where you are always learning something:) even after years have passed
I understood. Look in the tile stats and you'll see S 11
and what do the numbers mean on the lettersr in the grid?
Well that was fun, off to wallow about
those are point values
How many words start with each letter of that tile
ohokay
Oh never mind. Misunderstood the question.
morning, all!
suze!
hi, crossy!
There is a "HELP" button at the top that leads to an explanation of things. Also, at the bottom, a link to Angelsong's Babble Page which is also helpful.
okay, ill have a read now thanks guys :)
np
are you all frm the us and canada?
world wide
we have africans, aussies, britts, swedes, finns.e veryone is here:)
hi, aleks, and welcome!
morning UU
but since the sun is coming up on eastern standard time, you will now see more canadians and americans
hi, lbd!
and our aussie friends are getting ready for sleep
yes, we are all doing our wake-up-with-babble routine :-)
ah yeah yea im from Australia
rather ironic since the game does expect you to have your leetle grey cells perculating! lol
ah, we have a number of very wonderful aussies who play! you will meet them soon, I am sure
i do some of my best work in a zombie state
yay :)
ok, nbs and nbt all by my little lonesome, must go get dressed. bbl!
hope you get addicted to this game like the rest of us, Aleksiaa.
yes,we have representative from sydney and melbourne and other areas down under
i am not addicted lbd,i have quit many times;)
i hope so too im on summer holidays now for 2 months, so im sure that i will
and i'm off to start brekkies and strategize for the cleaning and decorating. hagd/n everyone
lol crossy, i quit everyday i finish the grid!
poof
ahh summer in the OZ...here right now is is minus 6c and snowing:(
-6? WOW i wish it snowed in australia
the novelty pales fast trust me..right around mid january when it is minus 33 and there is a blizzard coming off the bay
oh wow i can imagine
and the oil is so thick in the cars oil pan that when you try to start the car,it gives one feeble crank and a gasp as the frozen battery starts clicking,so now you cancel everything, bring the battery into a warm place and put a charger on it for a few hours
full on im only 16, so that wouldnt affect me too much ahha
and the conversation comes to a screeching halt.
THIS GAME IS SOO FRUSTRATING!
Do you know about morewords.com?
noo?
can be very helpful even if you know only the first two letters of a word. Also you could try Lickety's Babble clues, if you haven't already.
okay, ill have a look thanks for that :)
you're welcome
lol alek, frustrating and OCD for new players but believe it or not, afer a while, you do not mind if you finish or no and it actually becomes a place to de-stress after a rough day
plus a place to exercise the mind
good morning / evening everyone. Welcome Aleksiaa
howdy mom
thankyou!! :)
good morning Crossy
:-)
Good morning all. Pretty fast grid today but now I'm stumped.

they get that pitiful look in their eyes when they are naughty
hard to tell so far away *lol*
lol
i took the photo and sent it to the dog-toy company - proof that they're claim of 'durable' is subjective at best
I am curious as to what their reply will be
maybe even a refund
that's what i'm hoping for, but not holding my breath
would be nice of them though
may I have stats for the S in the 4th column please

That's what I was thinking. This is my first time playing, are they always like this?
Hardly ever. But this one goes pretty easy.
phantom stanza
I am down st7, and te 5&6
help on those 3?
i mean st5.
FISH!
te5& 6...
?????????????????????????????????????? ???????????????????????
te5 is the name of an inventor/engineer
And plural
what did s/he invent?
Electrical supply (current)
was also a rock band
ty. fireworks for the first time in a long time.
woo hoo Kaplan!
'ray Kap!
fireworks!
Yay for Kap and Steve!
good for you steve
10 left. haven't listed.
gm everyone
morning ruru
fireworks without a list. 'ray for me.
good for you mix.. I think this one is good in that way
it's a twisty little bugger
Cute monkey Ru
:D.. I hope JMC plays today
Do you remember Deter from Schprokets on Saturday Night Live?
yes
He ruined monkeys for me. : )
that was a really funny bit
it got old fast ..but the first few..
brb
s
sorry, and hi
Hi Bich
were you starting to swear bichon/
no, not really
oh
sometimes when a put a word in the add, it comes out in the chat. Don't know why
i'm teasing you.. just kidding
no problem
I do think that assdrag should be a word..I hear it in the chat all the time
although with a gerund ending however
... it must be the end of time ... ... no list ... no clues ... 40 minutes ... and I'm done ... see ya
Uh oh. Babble end times?
Good day to all.
Hi Scrabs
Howdilly do!
Hi Bichon.
This is a disappointing grid. I wanted a biggie.
Yes, me too.
No whining.
Ahem. I am grateful to have more than a 35-word grid.
Much better.
How about a 300 + grid with no time for it. That's worse
I aim for halfway, not to finish, so I like the huge grids in which I can type like crazy.
I have to agree, Bichon. Although, I'm not so fanatical about finishing these things anymore. I just bash out what I can and enjoy the company.
That's real maturity, Judy.
Chat, chat, chat.
Really, what's the point of knowing all these wonky words if we can't actually use our enhanced vocabulary?
And an occasional word search. That's my approach.
The obscure words do come in handy with Scrabble though.
Has it been quiet here because everyone already finished?
It's a pretty quick grid. I'm down to 17 already.
... that's likely what has happened today ...
I'm throwing in the towel with 16 left. Gotta wash my hair and then we are going to a husky mushing demo and some kind of mountain bike race. Wheeee! See you kids tomorrow! *POOF*
Bye Judi
... to the point of what to do with the wonky words ... ... you never know what you'll do unless you can foretell the future ... 1830's a guy name Michael Faraday makes a useless discovery of some neat stuff ... that was dangerous and particularly useless ... it wasn't for another sixty years that they found a use for alternating current electricity
30 to go for me
... enough philosophy for a bright Sunday afternoon ... enjoy the day
Yep, very sunny here and I will go for a walk soon.
Mmmmmmmm .. mushed huskies .. with garlic and butter?
mashed potatoes--yummy!
How are you torgone?
mmmm mushed huskies and gravy...
And Crossy is here too.
Heyas kids .. I'm doing fairly well scrabs ..
hi again all!
Hi sue

yay, dr!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !
It's the best, isn't it, drPlayer? congrats!
congrats drp!
Usually just don't have enough time to finish with the ones with more words, so the small number of words in this one helped me out.
Uno. It's an a5.
Aha. Rand-McNally Road At5.Done.
yay, scrabs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!
This grid is small enough for me to finish.
hi al
whoo hooo scrabs!

Hi Je.
Hello jmcnrick
Well, I am going for a walk now. It's a very sunny day and has warmed up from 18 degrees at 0730 to 34 now.

sounds nice scrabs
have a great walk, scrabs! (all the way up to 40 here, practically tropical!!)
Bye kids.
Hi all, any clues for the 1st ST5/10 please?
I usually only play once or twice a week. I usually lurk until I get done with the inital wave of finding words. Sometimes, I don't get past that initial wave.
old bread liz
haha i don't always make it through myself inspite of how much time i spent here
DUUUUUH, tyvm. Undeserved fireworks.
Hi Ganag
whoo hooo liz!
hi hego long time no see!
Um gang
I keep missing you JE
oh too bad--school has really screwed with my babbling
JMC, Ruru's icon is for you. : )
I always seem to come in just as you're leaving.
*runs to look at ruru's icon*
Bad when life interferes with Babble.
This time of year, I am usually way too busy to finish a grid, but it's nice to find a few words while I'm taking a break.
hahahahahahaha i have you know my monkey sleeps in his own little bed
the box is a play box in between words!
and hi molls
So many jokes to be made, so little time.
go for it molls!
i was all sulky this weekend
Hi Molly
stats for the 4th row S please
Well, it all boils down to Deter from Schprockets on Saturday Night Live and his "would you like to touch my monkey".
Hey Hego
oh i haven't seen that--is it a running joke?
nm nbt
nm the nm the word i found was from the second column s :(
greetings from snowy calgary!
hi welki
Welki, are you better?

almost as good as i ever was, hego, thanks for asking .. more important, how was BARBADOS!?!?!?
Sprockets was a running bit Mike Meyers did, a parody on some German talk show host.
Very hot, Welki
hego was traumatize by seeing a white sand christmas haha
The beach and the water were beautiful.
Yes I was JMC
if the temp goes down tonight, i'll plug it in, jm .. not that cold right now, about 15F

probably after xmas
Full of Brits and Canadians. lol
and our friends down under
hego i wanted a margarita last night so badly but i behaved myself instead
I tried to get my kids to use Amazon's wish list for birthdays and Christmas, but apparently that was just too much work. *Sigh*
what's giftbox for christmas?
really moll? my whole family except me use it
Blah! on behaving, I say!
wait a minute, without a pro. i don't even know how many words?
it is a gift tracking and budgeting system -- look at the top of the page here
Well, I figure it's one way to ensure that you will get something you actually want, instead of people having to guess.
89 words
89, pickles
and you are right, without pro you don't know much
thanks
several people come on and ask the number every day
okay i am off to write a paper bbl
tell ru i loved the icon!
morning kids
Bye JMC
bye, jmc
Hi Jes
oh that giftbox site is very cool - but i only give holiday/birthday gifts to children - more of a spontaneous gift giver to everyone else
bye jmc

*commiserates with jes over a bailey's* it's the catch-up that's going to be rough
I know.... there's gonna be huge stacks of bills and stuff to deal with :(
I want a Bailey's too pls.

well i got about 1/2 w/out a clue think i'll go back to my nook back later
i meant back to my book
I have to grade some more tests but I REALLY DON'T WANT TO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(in principle I could wait until tomorrow...)
hey all -- how about you grade 10% now, take a babble break, grade another 10%...
hey all...
oops. I am having a serious "brain mush" day btw. I think I have overdone it a little bit in the last week.
there are only 10 of them to begin with (this is my advanced astronomy class) so once I get started I might as well do them all
and I know what you mean about brain mush!!!
LOL thanks -- I am saying the strangest things when trying to have phone conversations...
*sends wilfred brimley to the rescue for stid*
oh sue! I saw JUST a short bit of the eclipse yesterday, at 6:20 I was pulling out of the high school parking lot and the clouds cleared just enough for the kids and me to see the last white sliver against the deep, dark red of the shadowed moon.
gee, thanks, ruru -- how can I EVER thank you? *said in Jack Benny voice*
fabulous, stid!! We missed it here, too far east
you'll think of something stid
also it was 8 degrees out yesterday morning so I did not want to get up
I knew you would, and I knew I wouldn't be able to stop and take pics, but I figured you at least would know how cool that was. Debaters, as a whole, are not as interested in "science" as I am. LOL
ooh. down to 20!!!
and btw, you can't hit "shift" and numbers to indicate excitement... *sigh*
lunar eclipses aren't all that rare anyway, and i've seen quite a few of them - never seen a total solar eclipse, though
and yay, stid!
We had an amazing solar eclipse soon after we moved to our home, 2000 or 2001 I think. I helped the boys make viewing boxes and we sat on the little hill in the front to watch it. Luckily, it was warm and dry (and clear) that day!
Can I get help with ra 5/10 and 6/18
I've seen some partial solar eclipses, and one annular one, but would love to see a total one some time...
ra 5 ra + mr gore & Plural
that's rodent and mr gore
hmmm come to think of it he is a rat
hm. maybe that's not when that one was... oh well. I don't think it was a full eclipse, but I remember how much fun it was to talk about it and make those boxes!
Thank You
down to 16. Going to take a break, maybe a nap. Shouldn't be this tired, but I am. NOT a good sign for subbing tomorrow!
*poof*
and I agree ruru
hey! Stid--Jordan and I sat in her bedroom and watched the eclipse out the window; we saw everything except the last little tiny bit
HA!!! GRADING IS DONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(pardon me while I dissipate...)

fireworks :)
yaaa for jes!
sorry min,i have never strayed into mac territory
but see if avg or kerprasky are mac compatable
Congratulations jesdraggon on your fireworks! Good for U!
I'm leery of avg. I was scammed by a feux avg at one time.
these days,i usually only ever see mac/apple desktops in dr or dentist offices
i am finding this pretty easy - am i going to hit a wall?
no really bizarro words in this one, i think. a nice, easy, small one for a sunday :)
Hello LeslieAnn!How are you doing? Welcome to the puzzle
indeed jes, though i had to work to make this one last a bit
hallo
but i am happy to clue if you do get stuck, leslie
howdy leslie
23 left and still doing ok
LeslieAnn, I went to list after finding half the words. Then as I was using Lickety's list,I kept on finding words not realizing how close to FWs I was.Next thing I know I have unexpected fireworks at 12:43. Was so annoyed. I like to save la 4/4 word for la4/4r. I finished too early.
it's tough being as smart as you, min! ;)
Don't think you will hit a wall, but story in profile if U need
If I were REALLY smart,I would have finished puzzle listless
morning all :)
Hello mrpresident! How are you? Welcome to the chat log.
howdy mr p
(((min))) good on you!
hi leslie :))
morning mrp
hi jes :))
just on phone to hospital to see how jilli is doing
what's wrong with jilli?
ok, going to try her cell phone now... the hospital gave me that number.
Hospitals shouldn't be giving out cell phone numbers unless patient says it's okay. Hope that jillibus said it was ok to do
min, do you know what's up with jilli?
flosey's profile: Jillibus was taken to Jubilee Hospital in Victoria this morning. She has a dislocated ankle, plus 2 broken bones, plus a torn ligament. They are going set her ankle today and insert a pin. Sunday, 11th. Jill called this morning from the Hospital. She will be in hospital for a bit, (?), then will be using a walker for a few weeks. She is in good hands. (Some are asking about care when she gets home: We do have home care available but please be assured, she will be well looked after.)
oh no poor jilli. she is at home though right? knew she had a trip in the works
no LeslieAnn - Jill called me from the hospital in Victoria - she'll be there for a few days
I'll keep my bio updated as I hear
victoria in canada or australia?
flosey, I hope you don't mind me copying and pasting info. into the chat log. Thank you again for upda4/5 in profile.
Canada, BC, we have a hospital on the island but they do not do any surgery
Victoria, BC, Canada
she slipped on an icy step!
oh ok. i was thinking she had a trip to AUS in the works, and with mrp talking about it i worried she was down there
no Min, that's fine, I knew all her babble friends would be concerned
did you get to talk to her MRP?
just spoke to her on her cell phone... she is in good spirits and the operation was a success. compound fractures and ligament damage.
i did flosey, just spoke to her now
not that it's great to be in canada with a busted foot, but no one wants that on vacation!
she gave her cell number to the nurse to give to me, and i called
flosey-where didthey do the surgery? Vancouver?
good, so glad you were able to get through
she has her friends with her, the ones she was with on the night she fell
Victoria, mcurl
she is doing well. and she said she won't be on babble for a while of course, but wants everyone to know she is fine.
guess I'm confused---you said earlier that there is a hospital on the island but they don't do surgery. She's only a 3 hour drive and a ferry ride from Port Angeles away from me!
yes min, jilli gave the number to the nurse so I could call her. She knew it was me trying to contact her.
she is still in hospital and will be for a couple of days.
but mcurl, you must realize that she is even closer to Victoria, or Duncan in fact
our Salt Spring Island hospital (no surgery) is the one she was taken to first, then taken to Victoria
flosey, jilli said I could find out through you how she is holding up. She said she was in contact with you. Makes it easier on my end, down here in Australia.
yes, of course mrp, I will be keeping everyone informed as I hear new reports
thanks flosey :) i will put info on babble community on FB, as she said you didn't have FB and asked that I do that so people there know what is happening
thanks for the updates, ladies
AHHHH consulted the trusty google maps and understand now Flosey; Thanks. One of these days I'm going to have to trip up to the island again and arrange a visit!
I am in FB mrp but I very seldom use it - daughter put me there!
that would be wonderful mcurl, I will look forward to meeting you
ok hit a mini-wall with 7 left. can anyone tell me my missing 6-letter word? have al, at, gr, pl, ra, sp, ta

Goodbye flosey! Have fun playing bridge! See ya next time
Sending out healing thoughts for Jilli. Glad to hear she has a good support circle around her.

te6 is plural of te5
thanks jes
of course it had to be! LOL now down to 12
welcome :)
you'll get 'em :)
probably. Not thinking I want to do anything actually productive this evening. So tired from yesterday still
get the kids beaten into shape?
I could use a clue for the te5.....ty
nikola te5 was a famous (eccentric) inventor
LOL was judging high school debate and speech events. It was a lot of fun, but I started out tired and ended up tireder.
hey all
thanks for the clue
hi jen
hey jen
welcome :)
hi stidmama
I just starting and already down to 83! Quiet day.
hi everyone! didn't try the te5 because i thought is was a proper noun. thanx
hi stidg, luwanda
hello Mother and Luwanda! I solved my dilemma over the stidkid's 19th bday coming up!!!!
go Mother go!
it's used as a unit of electricity, i think. named for nikola, so not specifically a proper nown
noun
Hi jes!
ooh! now down to 9!
go stid!
top row gone!
going to buy the kiddo the new, little kindle. It's a piece of gadgetry he hasn't had, and since he likes to read, thought he would enjoy it. It has small ads, but I think it's a reasonable offset because it makes it affordable.
go jen go!
consider going with a sony instead, stid
lots more freedom in what file types it will display, which makes free content a lot easier. with the kindle you're fairly restricted.
wanted something that works with existing technology, jes -- and price was an issue. Had to be less than $100. Kid has a laptop as well, so getting non-kindle content isn't really an issue. But it's a good suggestion.
Also, there's this: http://techcrunch.com/2009/07/23/amazo ns-bezos-apologizes-for-the-stupid-and -thoughtless-kindle-incident/
You can get the sonys pretty cheap (just picked up a damaged-box one from blinq.com for $50 myself as a backup)
I'll talk to tom, jes, we could still return the one we got.
I can send you a whole list of places to download free books too, if you want.
You may be able to convert things to work on the kindle, if you decide to go with that.
we get books from many sources, jes -- remember that's tom's job (tech) so we tend to play with and find lots of things
nope, didn't know what Tom's job was, just that he makes sourdough bread :)
check out kobo.com too, stid
I don't think tom likes kobo or nook much
I actually went with nooks for several people this year, because they were less expensive than the new sonys. but they are really restricted in what they will display, so i also downloaded and converted a ton of books to pre-load on them :)
i've been really happy with my sony since i got it though
7... *sigh* it's tough going
Hi to all who entered while I was eating dinner. Welcome!
Go stidmama go!
kobo isn't proprietary. you can download books as an adobe file
it will display just about anything without having to convert file types, has a really nice battery life (2 weeks), and is really easy to read; no glare or fading in direct sunlight.
this will teach me to start a conversation about books in BABBLE *shakes head* LOL Of COURSE book lovers will have a lot of good information. Just not sure I have the brains to parse it all...
and none of the weird proprietary stuff, or privacy issues that kindle has had
heh. if it helps, crossy is the one who went through all of this with me when i was looking to buy a reader :)
:-)
how are you doing, Min?
Hi all. It's been interesting reading back through the chat about electronic readers. Think I'll stick with real books for now. You can't beat the smell, feel and pleasure really.x
I am doing well stidmama.Annoyed I finished grid too early
that is how my mom feels jacula
Jen - I like your Mom already!:-))
<----Thinks Jes gives nice holiday gifts
Hello JenMO16!How are you doing? Welcome to the puzzle
does anyone know lilbit in here?
*wishes i was on Jes' gift list!*
Jen - I've seen her.
me too ibd, me too
i try, molly :) it wasn't all me though; costs were split several ways, i was just the one in charge of acquiring something suitable
Jac, my kids got me a Kindle last year and that was real sweet and all that, but I'm not into reading on a screen at all. I'm stuck on real live books.
I've seen lilbit on rare occasions, however,do not know her.
come to find out she and i are facebook friends, we went to junior high and high school with her, Jac
Molly - we are twinned. LOL
and she is not from Mexico!
Jen - oh, that's a coincidence. Mind you, I registered on Friends Reunited many years ago and started chatting to a lady from Austin, Tx. We got on really well. A few years after we'd been chatting daily, she sent me a pic of her hubby, saying he was sure he'd been at infant and junior school with me, and then at the boys' grammar school that was twin to my girls' grammar school. He was right! About 18 months later, he came over to visit, bringing his daughter & her b/f and lots of old photos and documents from our mutual schools.
that is so sweet, Jacula!
'It's a small world!' as 'they' say!
yes!
Sorry all, I am fading again. (Hi Jac, YAY Min and choclits for all) Back later. *poof*
bye, stid
Goodbye stidmama! I will see you tomorrow in the chat log
Seriously Jac, we are twin daughters of different Mothers. Pagan women who love Mother Earth, into real books, and not one bit afraid to tell it like it is. Yay us!
stid - thanks for the choccies!
Molly - queens of NonPC, and long may it be so!
Molly - are you on FB and, if so, are we friends yet on there?
Mind you, we can't be twins, 'cos according to your bio, you are only 7.
That is my spiritual age Jac. I am on Facebook. I tried to friend you once, but never got a reply.
spiritual age?
How old I feel, not how old the calendar says I am.
Molly - try again now. It could be because I didn't recognise your real name.
I feel older than 7 .. that's for sure
I feel whatever age I feel given the circumstances of the day. In my head, I'm anywhere between 15-30. Usually about 18. I do remember being a baby (not all but some things) and a toddler (again, not all but some things). At 54, I sometimes can't even remember what I'm saying mid-sentence, let alone what I went upstairs for! LOL
LOL.. I hear that
Molly - I'm in and out of FB at present, since Peri and a few others are keeping me pretty busy with word games there. What I'm *really* supposed to be doing is composing this year's Christmas letter.
16 left!
Hi ruru. It's so annoying when you're in full flow and suddenly the point you were working towards escapes you, isn't it? Likewise going upstairs and then having to go all the way back down again to the place where you first thought of the thing you had to go upstairs to get, so that you can remember what it was again. God help anyone who interrupts you on your way back upstairs again! LOL
Keep going, Jen. You'll get there.
I do it all the time..scares the crap out of me
especially when I'm cooking.. I open the cabinet or the fridge to get something and blank out
.. but then I"m usually drinking something while I"m cooking too..lol
*figures the wine may have something to do with it..lol*
ruru - now you sound like Keith Floyd - popular chef in the UK in the 70s/80s. He put more wine into himself than he did into the food he was cooking. Eventually, he pickled himself.
I NEVER drink when I'm cooking. Probably stems from seeing my Mum and my Aunt get p*ssed on sherry as they cooked the Christmas dinner one year, decide to take the turkey out of the oven together, manage to drop it on the floor, skid on the grease AND tread on the turkey whilst giggling and trying to catch it to pick it up, finally succeeding in picking it up, brushing the fluff and other bits off it, drenching it in gravy and serving it up to be carved.
I ate all my vegetables that year! LOL
hi ru love the icon
Ido enjoy a glass of wine while cooking.. and then I switch to water or tea during dinner
LOL thought you'd get a kick out of it jm
but my monkey only stays in the box when he is playing with his blackberry
Jac, bet your mom and aunt had the best Christmas dinner and day ever...............
9 left. help with the ra5/10 please
welki was nice enough to save it to facebook for me
turkey races .. in the kitchen .. who knew?
aacckk! have 15 left and have hit a wall. Think I'll come back later. Have a good day all.
ra5 rodent + mr gore
I prefer the wine or the water with a meal, except for chili. You need milk with that 'cos water or wine just makes the burning sensation worse.
hi sunny and bye
Hi and 'bye Sunny.
beer with chile
beer with chili too
thank you. couldn't see it for looking
yw
he's a cute monkey don't you think jm?
snags - I'm not sure they cared at the time. Auntie is dead now but Mum still laughs about it. I was somewhere between 6 - 8 when it happened.
yes he is. . . is he kin?
LOL
salmo what is your icon?
I would have loved watching them. Sounds like something Lucy and Ethel would have done!!!!!!!!!!
it's been a while since I last dragged my knuckles jm
jac one of the funniest julia child stories is where the staff person dropped the very expensive crown roast on the floor in front of everyone and julia without missing a beat told her to get the "other" crown roast in the kitchen
I work in clay and it is house that I made.
very nice! i really like it salmo
Very nice, salmo.
thanks. I often see that people change their icons to match a certain theme. But I never really understood where the theme comes from.
jmc - sounds like the 'Gourmet Night' episode of Fawlty Towers.
ah well sprite lists the themes and they come from everyone
salmo - themes are in Sprite's bio and then archived into BabAnon.
other times a particular event inspires us
Okay, I will check sprites lists. help with the last two te words please
help with ga4 and 5 plse
in my case lately i have been putting the gradual building of my house on as my icon
ga4 is an exclamtion of surprise
ga4 and ga5- something you do when you see something unexpectantly
ga**!
te5 is like the electric car
salmo - te5/10 and plural 6.18 = unit/s of magntic induction. Anagram of a roof tile material and plural.
*magnetic, I meant to type.

Beloved's got to be up for work in 34 mins (3am). I wonder if he'll be up in time? He had about 2 hours non-sleep, having a long and complicated bad dream, which he then came down to tell me about a while ago. Amongst all the weird stuff, he was looking for his missing lorry. Told me to let him know if I did episode 2 of his dream and found it. Apparently, the keys are in his pocket. LOL
humm do you have sa4/5 and 5/12
1st sa is sa5.12 - rabbit food, as my Beloved calls it.
maybe he will leave the keys so you can bring the lorry back if you find it
i don't understand the 2nd #
it is the number of points--have you read help and anglesong?
2nd sa4/5 is a sea creature - s + Swiss mountain. sa5.12 following is the plural.
ty jac
jmc - Yes, I told him that. Hope he doesn't leave his real lorry keys; he'll need them!
so yes i have sa4/5 and sa5/12
and the pl (plural) of the sa4/5?
got thsat one too
Oh, and in his dream, his ex-wife had set him up on 'a gospel site WITH photos'. He was horrified, tried to see her but couldn't, then spent hours and hours trying to find his missing lorry in a HUGE indoor lorry park.
there is another sa4/5 that rhymes with not soft
hmmm sounds like basic anxiety
evening all!
hi dan2
jmc - probably, since he's been redundant for about 4 months now and is doing agency work at the moment.
Hi dan. Welcome to the madness.
what's the total count again?
Hello dan2bit! How are you doing? Welcome to the puzzle.
89 words, 4.54 letters, 755 points, Pickles.
oh no i am so sorry -- i am having a hard time myself but at least theoretically i am in school rather than unemployed
hi min
89 words pickles
i need 11 more got to finish for once!
go pickles go!
Hello jmcnrick!
pickles are you using lickety's list? *has someone asked you that already?*
hi lbd
are there any z words? and yes i am using lickety
i mean do any words use the z?
not that i have found
not that i found either
No, z is not used.
hi jmc, how goes the house building?
well there is some issue with the wiring and the inspector; and i have to redo some old plumbing
Hi lbd.
argh, if it's not one darn thing it's something else!
hi jac
but it should all be more or less done before christmas unless i want cabinets and such!
We'd love to build our own house, exo-friendly, cheap to run, just set out right for us. We've even found the plot we want. Pity we can't afford it.
*eco-friendly, I meant.
well if mother hadn't died i couldn't have afforded it either
i am putting solar panels on the roof next to the roof deck and lots of thick windows and insulation
how aqbout ta6/18?
this is my one and only chance
plural of the ta5, pickles
jmc - Very brave thing to do, building your own home. Oh, just saw what you said about your mum dying. I wasn't being bitchy or jealous, I promise. Seen too much of that in my own life to do the same to anyone else!
it's going to be lovely once it's finished, JMC. i envy you the finished product but not the interim.
That ta 6/18 word is plural of that ta 5/10 word picklesny.
nick and nora's dog is in the grid
firewords! swiss mountains al4/5 was my last. Thanks all cluers
np jac
whoo hooo dan2
Well done, dan!
whoooo hoooooo DAN!!
i am only rehabbing what i have but i am looking forward to it
the ta5/10 already are plurals
not the fish sauce pickle
then look for a different ta5/10
Congratulations dan2bit on your fireworks! Hooray for you
The ta5/10 word is what you dip your fish stick in picklesny
hi dorens!
(- the third letter, actually)
hi j, min, dawg, et al
10 left
jmc - my remark about not being able to afford it was not so much about building the house but affording the plot of land (with sea view) in an unfashionable and out of the way place that we found years ago. A building company suddenly noticed it about 3 years ago, put in for planning permission to do some horrible posh flats for business people thing on the land we had earmarked for a home, a wildlife plot etc. They went bust, but the council, who apparently took over the plot x years after the owner died, now has £ (or $) signs in their eyes.

haha dorens i am mystified
hi dorens
jmc - I certainly hope so!
ok, at 12, so maybe you won't ave to.
check for plurals, dorens
i am sure you will finish before me dorens
Dorens - we can only tell you what you are missing if you actually ask for clues.:-)
not seeing it that way right now j, but quien sabe?
Hello Dorens! How are you doing? Welcome to the chat log
firewords!
i am doing well, thank you min. went to the mall today... that sure put me in the spirit. and you?
whoo hooo jen!
yyay jen
i got in the spirit by wrapping present i bought through out the year and then buying more on line
but i need something for my sister
i've bought zillions on line, but not putting in the spirit. taking Phoebe to the nutcracker did get me started.

i think this would go faster if i listed
you are closing the gap!
no doubt dorens
can't imagine there are two more g words. think i must iist
Having all been made redundant a few months ago made us rethink the Christmas thing. We're giving token presents (but ones that people actually want or will like) this year, and we're doing a big famil meal on boxing day. It's quite liberating, and feels more like Christmas. I never 'do' Christmas before 12th Dec at earliest anyway.
Go Dorens go!
no no dorens they are all fish!
very good idea jac. my sister and i were just discussing the ridiculosity of gifting anyone but the kids
the g's really?
If you don't want to list Dorens, I have a G word in my story
Dorens - the only person who is getting a present in 3 figures is my stepdaughter, but only because she needs it for her A levels.
thanks sj. that helped me. now three s's and an a
i don't buy big things but i buy during the year so that i get things when i see them that i know they would like
3 figures? only my boy is getting something like that -- most are only 3 figures if you count the pennies
my family has for years drawn names for gift giving and last year my girls decided it was time for a change and sort of raised a ruckus that resulted in being able to "opt" out of the drawing---they caused a revolt of sorts with all of my "branch" of the family tree opting out AND my kids are only buying for the kids; my husband and I will do both our kids and grands....liberating is a gentle word--
i commissioned a painting of his house
well i gave m mom some shower gel that i thought she'd like last week for her birthday (just a little thing, to go along with the "big" gift. She emailed meyesterday asking if I'd mind exchanging it cause she doesn't like the idea of hazelnut coffee and would i switch it for something "more palatable" like vanilla or something citrusy. I emailed back no.
I have changed my icon for tomorrow. Now I am off to bed
I've learned my lesson in the past about buying things for people 'during the year'; not all people are still alive when Christmas comes.
Goodnight to my fellow babblers! I'll see you all tomorrow.
I don't do it now more than a couple of months before in case I jinx anyone!
'Night Min.
well true jac i still have a shirt i bought for christmas for my husband the year he died
ok personal best 9 left,nite

Dorens - LOL! I guess you can only shower in a smell you might want to eat.;-)
whoooo hooooo JMC!!
go herin!
jmc - sorry, re the shirt.xx
i got my young adults all caffeine soap for 2010
but she loves to drink hazelnut coffee..just doesn't want her body to smell of it
Hi Herin.
JM my friend makes Coffee soap
neat
i just kind of think if you don't like what i give you, return it yourself, regift it, or let it sit on a shelf, like I do with the many things she's given me over the years that I haven't cared for. I wouldn't dream of asking her to exchange it for something else
oh yay1 jmc
i usually regift
go dorens go!
Dorens - I know what you mean!
she can regift it to me, my birthday is jan 2nd and I'd love it!!!
JM it is real coffee beans and it is soooooooooo good
jmc - regifting is fraught with pitfalls if you don't keep a list.
i use giftbox from dr god

good pl** dorens
i mainly have to be careful about books!
MC the reason I am being mean this year about doing anything extra for family lunch is because I have done extra for years and not been appreciated. Last year was the straw that broke the camels back. We spent up to $100 on a plater and still had to pay for lunch
You don't know how many short stories have been written on that subject. Being short stories for magazines, that have to be upbeat, it always ends well. But in real life? Is Great Aunt Mathilda still simmering over the lavender bath cubes she sent to you in 1978 that she finally got regifted to by her brother's wife in 2002?
And then got back from you in 2010, complete with the little groove she made in the side of one of them 'just to see'?
I know exactly where you are coming from Herin. Similar feelings are why I'm not spending christmas day at my parents home with ALL the family but rather at my daughter's house with all of MY family.
MC that sounds nice.
It has been 3 years since all three of my kids, sons in law and grandkids will be together
I know I sound like a bitter old lady but I do spend a lot of time cooking and making things and planing and just felt under appreciated last year. The pay thing is expected because himself has a large family but to pay after you spend is just rude.
O MC that does sound delightful
Herin - same happened to me some years ago. I'm sure I've told this story on here before. 15 years spent in the kitchen for about 3 weeks before Christmas and then on Christmas ad Boxing Day. One year, I thought, 'I've had enough of this!' So, I booked a Boxing Day meal in a restaurant for us all. My MIL kicked up a hell of a fuss about it!
my son in in the Air Force and lives in NM; one son in law wks in Hawaii with his wife (my daughter) and granddaughter still living here (been a year almost)
But that is Boxing day. We figured that if we had spent extra would could have had a christmas feast of epic proportions at the hotel
Sorry I woke up on the grubby side today
Herin - the point was the we want Christmas Day for just us and our children, and Boxing Day was for all the rest.
no problem Herin--many people do that and many do things at the holiday that they really don't want to do. It takes courage to stand up and say NO. I wish for you the best holiday this year.
Well apparently we don't have rights since we dont have kids
MC they don't know I haven't said no. I just ahve kept the mouth shut on the volunteering
That was in the past, anyway. Different main man now. We share the cooking on both days and we have Christmas to ourselves every other year but do a New Year meal then.
I don't actually think I should type what I really think here it would be a long and profanity laden rant
Herin - it's got nothing to do with having or nat having children, it's about families.
well, actually saying no and just not volunteering are eqully difficult to do. I'm always saying I'll do this or that and the last couple of years I have "kept the mouth shut".....don't know if they've figured it out yet!
It does with his
I agree with Jac---kids or no kids is no different
hey all
Herin - I see where you're coming from, but he needs to stand up for you.
hey stid!
Well my parents are in their 60's and this year is the first year they have had Christmas alone in the day and they are delighted
HI Stid.
Jac it isn't about that.
I am NOT saying no... and I am volunteering as much as I can. *grin* need all the "good press" I can get! LOL
hey lady.
Stiddy are the stid kids in trouble again?
Stid I am officially the tired and cranky one in our relationship.
um.... not so much again as still. but they are working through it
Herin - if you're talking about the sanctity of 'just the two of us', I thought you already knw I understand that. Why do you think me and Beloved do one year home and one year away?
No I mean I am the cranky one
I haven't even got a dress for the day which is not like me
good to hear. How you feeling today, stid?
ah, I thought you were talking about volunteering for things at work, not family. I boycott all family "events"
No family. Besides it looks like it is going to be 29C on the day. Can I swap with you guys please?
I am tired, mcurl -- the preschoolers on Thursday were cute but physically demanding and yesterday the debate meet was long and mentally demanding. I couldn't speak in straight sentences for a couple hours after I got up today!
Who needs a dress for the day? They can take you as they find you - naked all but for an apron, if it comes to it.
Stid I loved helping with 1st graders they are so cute
Herin - you boycott all family events? I can't keep up with your train of thought now. Sorry!
I loved working with the preschoolers, but I am even more convinced that my achy body isn't suited for the younger grades. And I really do enjoy the older kids (most of the time)
No I don't boycott family events that was stid
I love preps the first half of the year when they are not all obnoxious and learn bad habits from older graders
to funny stid; I stay away from preschool! Kindergarten is my limit ;-)......have to go for a bit BBL ***poof***
later mcurl
Have agreat day MC
Sorry Herin, I see now.
Jac -- I dislike family events immensely. I have decided no more "grand gatherings" but will get together with folks at other times that don't have a lot of expectations and commotion.
Now I feel like cake
Sorry i am so random today
stid - you have surprised me, saying that.
you don't look like cake
LOL jmc!
HAHA JM. I do have cake in my freezer though. Maybe I need a stretch and coffee
jmc - herin's probably snaffling my Christmas cakes off Facebook! *rushes into other room to check*
I don't do group events much anyway, Jac, and family events are never fun. Never. So for the last several years we have done what I call "shelter in place" and have had a lovely time.
No those cakes are pretty though Jac.
I made cake back in Nov and froze it
Stid do you go help at soup kitchen?
herin - I was pretty pleased with the way they turned out. The little one has now been boxed up and gone home with Beloved's parents after our meal out earlier. The one for my Mum will get to her later nd the one for us will stay put until it is sliced Xmas Eve and so on.
no lady, we do other things when we are able, but not that. Thing is, we don't observe most of the usual holidays, so it's just more pleasant to avoid people on those days.
there. down to 6.
lasp
oops.
good it didn't work. Didn't really think it would. LOL
Herin - if you make a proper fruit cake in September there's no need to freeze it. You wrap it in greaseproof paper and foil and put it in a tin and feed it with whiskey, brandy, sherry, rum, etc. I usually opt for whiskey and sherry. You pit marzipan (almond paste) over it 3 weeks before Xmas, an then you ice it about a week after that. Then you decorate the cake.
wow. sounds like it's pretty high-octane, Jan!
Jac. remember I said my brain isn't working right today?
Yep. Sounds good Jac but this was chocolate cake
hm. choclit cake soaked with RUM. and whipped cream. and choclit sauce. and ....
I'm wondering if this lack of knowledge about making fruit cakes is why I see people on the internet saying so often that they don't like fruit cakes? Fruit cakes need time to mature, even every day farmhouse fruit cakes should be left for at least 3 days before you eat them. Heavy fruit cakes need months to mature.
hi again all!
hey again sue!
whew! baked 30 dozen cookies with my daughter today! I'll put some in the pb since we are drowning in them...
wow, GE!! that's worth going to the PB for!!
hi all
THIRTY dozen?? *faint*
*pops head in at the mention of cakes and cookies*
hey other sue! ((hugs))
LOL Lurker By Dawger....
U.S fruitcake is dreadful and not at all like the English version, Jac
30 dozen!! oi and i thought i was tired after making 7 dozen rum balls!
five. this is taking forever
some fruitcake is quite tasty, others should be used as weapons of mass destruction
we made three varieties, all very simple.
18 here but Frank is about to come up with dinner, which will end it for me
what kinds of cookies, GE?
it's the U.S. commercial, mass manufactured fruitcake that is terrible. I should have specified that.
peanut butter blossoms (the ones with the kisses on top), melting moments (a simple almond cookie with powdered sugar) and no bake peanut butter drops
today i made a gingerbread pudding. delish! good way to use up the gingerbread that kinda fell apart out of the moulds
yum, Good and LBD!
Well I am done and needing to move
four! :-D
YAY lady!!!
whooo hooooo HERIN!!
go stiddy!
do you have any assignments this week, stid?
TWO...
OK I have to go and get things done. Talk later
only one assignment (tomorrow) LBD, but going in to the local school Tuesday and will watch the hiring boards to snag anything that looks interesting. I am finding that it's awful to be waiting and anticipating, but once I am in the classrooms I am enjoying it.
later lady
yahoo lady
go stid
A's done
waiting is always the pits. but you're getting yourself known to the schools, and the next hiring you'll have a better "in" with them.
I don't have to be up as early tomorrow as sometimes -- the official start time is about 8:30, so I will get up around 7 and leave at 8. Instead of awake at 5:30 and up as soon as I get a call. :-D
bye, Herin, hagd
that's my plan, LBD! AND I know now some schools I definitely will be watching for openings. Although, I have to admit it's getting more comfortable to not know, and it's nice to be able to say I am taking a day or two off when I need to.
what grade for tomorrow?
babblefirweeds! :-D
whoooo hoooooo STID!!
yahooooo stid
d
d's done
go sue!
6th grade again, this one is at the upper end of an elementary school. friday was the first grade in a middle school. There are significant differences in the attitudes of kids based on the environment
go sue go!!!!
yay stid!!
I've been trying to get Beloved up out of bed since 3am, when he told me he HAD to be up. It's now 3.53am, I've tried again.
here's my current time-waster. I love PAPER snowflakes, and this website is one I have enjoyed every winter for several years now: http://snowdays.popularfront.com/
just listed. embarassed at the easy ones ive missed
oh man, Jac -- I hope he's okay?
so true, stid. environment makes a big difference in learning.
stid - he's okay, just not easy to wake since his bad dream and restlessness earlier.
GE, i couldn't believe all the plurals i missed today. those darn essessss are in weird places
oh, I see -- hold a cup of hot coffee nearby? turn on the lights? (those are things that can help me wake up sometimes)
time for me to head off to the pillows. see you all tomorrow. have fun with the 6th graders, stid.
sweet dreams, LBD! I will have fun! Wish you could come play, too -- maybe some day.
Already turned on the lights, stid, Can't do the coffee thing since the smell of that would make me throw up before midday. Having said that, I guess me vomiting on him WOULD get him out of bed. LOL
I am going to head out, too -- want to repack my sub kit, and get a few things back in the car. Then I shall collapse in bed and happily listen to old radio plays until I fall asleep...
Anytime in the morning it's tea, PG tips with milk, for me.
have a lovely day everyone -- hope your darling wakes up soon, Jac. **puts hot egg nog in PB** *poof*
*trys not to puke at idea of hot egg nog at 4 in the morning*, but thanks for the thought, stid.x
Now thinking of Faron Young's song 'Four in the Morning' - it reminds me of Beloved's Dad, which does NOT turn me on.
Even though I'm at the weird age of being betwixt the two of them, so could have picked a fella of either age. I went for the younger one.
Incidentally, the older version wasn't on offer, but other older men, nt in Beloved's family were.
No one seems to need clues now, so I'll be going. 10 minute window for clues, if you need any.
