yes, which is why our offer was so aggressive... we are very close to her estimate
so they must be asking above the comps
yes and no.... our market right now is really strange. Their asking price was originally under what they paid for the house a few years ago. They are truly taking a killing. If we can get it for what we want, it would be at about $86 a sq ft. The house cannot be replaced for what we are offering....
So they may have come to their senses and said screw this LOL
depends on if they "have" to sell it to move...or if they can hang onto it and rent it etc

bankruptcy, soodle - ex defaulted on a loan on properties I deeded to him in the divorce - I was still on the loan so they came after me
but he left my house a shambles - started a lot of projects, went through all my money, didn't finish anything
ripped out half the heating system, so I can't keep it warm (or cool in the summer)
I won't miss it.
Now its my turn to second Firefly's post! Wow.
I was thinking that I would never be able to retire, or to move - but now I will be debt free, starting over - won't be able to borrow any money for a while but that's ok.

I know I haven't been on here much lately, but I just got some really good news and I want to share! Some may remember I am a nursing student; well, I had my first Med Surg exam on Monday and I was terrified that I might fail, but I didn't! I got a 90%! I am so happy!

good for you, phand! I am always SO impressed by my older students - I think it is much harder to go back to school than to go straight through.
nothing big, molly, mostly existential angst - he feels like he is spinning his wheels, taking useless classes, won't be able to get a job when he graduates, and so on
yes. But I am even more impressed by the 20-30 somethings that are trying to do this while raising young kids. No way I could have done this back then. I don't understand how they do it at all. At least 2/3 of my kids are in college and the remaining one is very self sufficient. That and I have a tremendously supportive and helpful husband!
I agree, phand! I have graduate students with small children - I have no idea how they manage.
Truth is, it's going to be hard for him to get a job after he graduates. Most of my kids friends only have jobs now because they worked during college and parlayed that into a job after graduation.
It's sad but a college degree is not worth what it once was and is certainly no guarantee for a job.
I am even concerned that I may get a nursing job when I graduate next summer. It would be better if I could get a CNA job now to gain some experience, but I am not at all interested in working while I am in school, especially since I still have a kid at home. So, I am going to take my chances...

Yay for being home. It stinks to be a patient. The information is interesting and not widely known in the medical field yet.
It was very interesting. Yes, everyone at the hospital said that nurses are the worst patients but I actually think she did very well.
I am sure she was understanding of how busy the nurses are.
My daughter-in-law is a nurse, but she is a very good patient. Unfortunately, she has had lots of practice due to having Crohn's.
Oh she is and she really doesn't push the fact that she is one of them. She is very receptive as she knows this is their specialty, not hers. Crohns is rough Molly. My neighbor was diagnosed when he was in college. When he came home after surgery he only weighed 79 pounds. He is now married with 2 children and doing well.

If initial tests did not reveal an "acute abdomen" (surgical issue) that is reassuring.
Well it sounds like you are heading to the specialist and they will be able to tell you more.
they did a bunch of tests and said i was fine to go home.. but if pain continues 48 hrs to comeback to the er.
Have you spoken with your MD? It's best to avoid ERs if at all possible.
my MD moved out of state 2 months ago and i haventbeen able too find a new one. the er referred me to one. so im seeing a new MD tuesday and a specialist as well.

i had something similar and actually went in for a tube test -- they put you under (to suppress the gag reflex) and stick a tube down your esophagus
they found zilch and the pain went away
eventually the pain went away

The text was saying that persons with surgical orthopedic implants (plates, etc) were at increased risk of developing osteomyelitis. I am wondering if that risk is life long. (I think that it is) I was also wondering if I understood correctly that any infection needs to be watched closely that it doesn't develop into osteomyelitis. Am I understanding correctly?

phan - any foreign body in the body is a nidus for infection... but the risk is small unless she has other risk factors, like using IV drugs, or getting dilaysis so constantly with a cath in or caths in an artery... or chronic infections like occur in patients with poor vascular flow to the legs

and yes, Scrabbler, the ICU nurses often knew a lot more than the ICU docs

I think there is just a huge emotional component to the ICU nursing role, because you're dealing with a lot of families making tough decisions, a lot of loss, and a lot of miracles
The ICU nurses are with the patient most every moment, so they know the vital signs, etc.

some of the best nurses I have worked with were the nurses on my nursing home floor as a fellow at Hopkins... they had lots of experience, many were older women, and they had a passion for giving care with dignity... I miss them
KJE, well, my last clinical patient got further care that she needed because of me, and not because of her actual RN! In fact her RN didn't pay the kind of attention to her that she should have. Probably because she figured I was there...

She also got a degree in women's health I think. She works at a clinic in Burlington, Vermont. It's always good to have a medical person in your family. My sister is so very smart!

However, it was required to get it within 5 years of your start da 4/5. Not sure if it is still the same. I have been teaching for 14 years. Requirements might be different
