good job getting that packing done dee
I have a question for the computer savvy... we have to change internet providers... what is a good speed for internet?
fast :)
what speed do you have dart? LOL
u dont need to get the highest speed they provide. its a waste of money
almost fast
seemed that way to me cos... the 2 we are looking at are 20 mbps and 50
the other two were 100 and 150 at astronomical prices
oh jeez. speaking of fish sa 6
dee do u play a lot of games online?
geez..rur is finding words in his sleep now
ty ru missed it, too
thanks ru
i would siggest 50.....
ty ruru!
I just found twenty after giving up..lol
the jewish sh6 too dont forget
can you suggest a good wine to go with it ruru?
mostly babble, WWF, some games at Facebook. That is what I was thinking cos - at least for first 12 mos until they jack up their prices
halfway
ty cos
wtg jili
yes. id do that... 20 is kinda low .. 50 is good for FB, WWF etc...
sh6 cos
sure westie.. are you grilling it?
ty cos that answered my huge ? !!!
depends on whether your games need fast...the shoot-em-up games where it makes a diff. if you are slow...or a games like this where you aren't really racing
not yet..mostly in the oven with butter and lemon
cant see the ca8
sauvignon blanc
compound word ursh... think lawyer
our old provider only offered 20, so no choice; now lots of choices :)
lawyers generally have huge ones
they do ?
do u watch movies on ur computer?
4th col C - right?
thanks ruru
like netflix?
if u want to use netflix, then 50 is the way to go.
you bet ruru lol
right now I play online and watch netflix on my laptop ... gets pretty sluggish at times, which is why I was considering 50
(delurking...) I did when I was in practice, ruru. About 350 felonies per year.
yep. 20 isnt recommedned for netflix
ahhhh ty got it
ty cos didn't know that
anyone have all the m's 3 short
it'll work ok but it can be sluggy and stuff.. the higher the speed the better for internet streaming movies/videos
two m's short here
two short on m's as well
7 short :(

Did this grid flip an hour earlier today?
nope...at midnt cdt here...was at midnt cst before
for you in australia...not sure
It seems to have been going for an hour and a half but normally would only be 30 mins by now - has somewhere in the world changed from daylight saving?
caught me offguard too, Anike
U.S. did
That's what happened - I can start an hour earlier for now
when do you switch?
suits me much better
Yes - more lunch time now
having a spot of bother with the ha7 a clue pls

congrats!
cole
only with h's dee..long way to go yet
:)
same here, another 14 to go I'll keep them for later
what's on the packing agenda for later today?
I think the living room library units are next (3 of them)
mostly books?
Books, crystal, Lladro, special pieces from my mom; silk plants on top; kaleidoscope collection.. all sorts of "stuff"
so not what you can just chuck into boxes
It will be time-consuming; lots to wrap carefully, unfortunately....exactly
wouldn't it be nice to be Samantha on Bewitched and just wiggle your nose?
Or wealthy enough to just pay someone else to do it and not feel too guilty to hire them LOL
the nice part of all this is you know exactly where things will go in the new house
I really can't rationalize doing that when we are capable
just be glad you aren't moving very far away....you can take some of the fragile stuff in a car...and not have to worry about having to go hundreds/thousands of miles :)
very true, dart. If we were moving that far, we would definitely hire movers.
will you get movers for the big items?
Although, I must say, when my folks moved, many important pieces were broken and scratched by the professionals...moving isn't fun...
clue please for fo / 7 ?
and things always go missing
Funny story actually... hubby hired 6 football players (one is a son of his business partner) for the big things.
fo 7/27 that is?
That, too, west.
fo 6/27 i mean
no..they can screw up for sure...but it saves on your backs and all of the hassle of doing it..and they have the right equipment to do ti
that's the way to do it..piece of cake for them
only an fo 6/27 sammysmom, not a 7... looks like dance .... without the i
and hopefully they don't fall down the stairs
not seeing the ca 6/21 before the 8... help please?
ca 6...type of cooking oil
geesh fish smack
thanks dart
I hate grids when you can go in numerous directions with the same letters
thanks volley
that's why i usually try to do the edge letters first...after the initial barrage of word finding
yw sm
smart approach
down to 11
like the lower right h.....can only be ha words...easier than looking at the left-hand c...which could be ca-..ce-...cl-....co- etc
quicker approach; I should start doing that
finally through the c's
good job dee !!
ty... 5 s's to find :)
fireworks!
Yay dee !!!
ty was very thankful for list
wtg volley
brb want to put one in my profile, too

wonder how it's pronounced
pronounced yawd
thanks dee
I won't forget that one

Anybody here?
Good day lurkers. Enjoying this grid? My top row is grey. Woot, woot.
... g'morning Scrabbler
... oops
Hi doseffing
... did all your snow in the southern counties melt on the weekend?
I never new you lived near Toronto. I live 30 miles southeast of Buffalo.
... yes ... down the road from the GM plant
I haven't been to TO in few yrs.
... it's different now ... ... much bigger ... and more crowded ... I'm not a fan of the place any more ...
I used to go to York Univ every summer for the Canadian Open Tennis Tournament. But I haven't gone in several yrs. Yes, it is a huge metropolis.
... Yes ... the tennis is still there ... the men's and women's tournaments alternate between York U and Montreal but I think they're changing that this year ... to put both tournaments in one city and have a big US Open or Wimbledon like tournament
... went to York for grad school ... ... but even it is bigger ... ... was there in 1983 ... took my daughter for a tour last year and got lost
One year we got lost trying to get home. My friend, a directionally-challenged person, was driving. When I realized the lake was on our right and the sign indicated Oshawa I told her to turn around.
Any clue for the second ca6? Please
... had a friend drive in from London and do the same thing ... she missed Toronto ... and ended up in Oshawa
I have no ca6 but will look, Kenny.
... don't know if it's first or second ... i.e. I've only got one ... ... the first part of chemical element that is good for bones plus a plural ending
I found ca6 oil.
A vegetable oil.
TY, dos.
... and thank you
Tx Scrabbler
I'm glad that's what you needed, K. My monkeys tried many ridiculous words.
I have yo4/7. Stats for the other y?
... that's a good question ... been looking for a while
try yo4.8 - always reminds me of the special pants designed for horse riding...and Good Evening
Yoda is not accepted.
TY. Stats sure helped, Lynxxx.
... one day I will learn the Hebrew alphabet just so that I can get a few more words ... ... ... I agree ... there he should appearing be ...
BRB with the breakfast buffet tray.
Here it is, prepared by my personal chef.
... Have bib ... will travel ... wire Paladin
I hear that is what the bunnies say too
Yep, how the bunnies love their twice daily salads.
Have you guys had a time change over there?
Yep, yesterday at 0200.
... this past weekend ... daylight saving arrived again
And I was (still am til 0800) on call this weekend so to lose and hr is a treat.
I guess ours changes soon too...this Summer had flown past so fast - not that it was much of a one
We had a mild winter, although we will have snow at least a few more times.
... I can say with great precision when daughter number two was born ... 1:17 in the afternoon ... ... but have no idea of when daughter one arrived ... ... it was the night of the change over and they had stopped all the clocks in the hospital ... and forgotten to start them again ... ... the delivery room staff all looked at their watches and came up with four different times varying by an hour and a half
When I was a resident and on call in the hospital there was always confusion with the time changes. First it is 0159 then 0200 then 0100..
can anyone clue the 8 please
... or 3:01
I don't have it yet, Jen.
BBL - very late dinner to do
Nor any 7s.
O.K. Scrabbler, can you help a bit more with ca6 - oil please
Start with a tin ca* then add ending of an elctronics company Motor***.
... ... two syllables ... ... soup comes in the first ... followed by spanish hello
66 left for later. Now I must get ready for work. Enjoy the day, kids.
... yes ... just half way myself ... but must get wife out of bed ... somebody's gotta work
ca6. Tin soup container and spanish hello
thanks, got it at last - a real struggle
any clues for the right hand a please
Open up and say ****, plural
hello hello
Hi Ruby
The Italians with puppy boy are on the move, but were delayed several hours by a strike on the Lake Maggiore ferry.
However, I cooked all morning so, even if they only stay a few minutes, they can have a bite and we will have a sumptuous dinner
don't understand Molly - what are the stats - i am particularly dense this morning after an awful weekend
Sounds like you are all ready for your new dog.
aa4/5...sound made at fireworks
and husband bought many lovely roses for me this AM, pale yellow-orange
What the doctor says...open up and say ****
Wow Ruby, you guys are really festive
thanks molly - I always miss that one
it has been so awful around here, that I am trying to brighten things up. And the weather is fabulous!
hello friends....show of hands please -- who else tried "yoda ?"
hello trif!
hi, all. anyone have a clue for the ca6 before the ca8?
hello ruby. I am so excited about your new little man....can't wait to hear all his adventures!
and who else tried caca?
so far I like this grid - I have thrown a whole bunch of typos and nonsense at it, and most of it has stuck! the el4 at the bottom is ridiculous, but accepted, so I am happy! baffled, but happy
hi all, how many words today please?....and is there a list anywhere?
128 zoom, and usually there is one in ban anon, but I haven't looked
ty trif....nothing there yet...will keep monkeying:)
zoom, volleymomdee has a list in her profile. and it is 178 words today
hello angel, no ca's bigger than a 4 for this dullard!
ty angel.... not sure how to access that if she's not online?
do you have a le5 for your new puppy, ruby?
husband bought a tiny collar and leash which I'm sure he'll outgrow (probably already has) as he's not exactly small, even at 3 months
go to the rankings page and just click on her name, zoom\
whoops, pb for me. Are there any tranquilizers? I'm sort of spinnning
as a social worker, I am very familiar with a ca8.

Hello Babble buddies.
morning, scrabbs
Rainy days and Mondays ...... Good morning everyone
Good morning Scrabbler
morning ((Mom)) Bright and sunny here
(((Annie))), Bichon, Kim, (((LBD)))
bright and sunny tomorrow. Today rain
We will have a sunny spring-weather week. Maybe the snow will all melt.
did you have a lot of snow this winter, Scrabbler?
It was a very mild winter. My driveway got plowed out 6 times and usually it would happen20-22 times. Buffalo got about 40 inches and usual for where I live, in "ski country" is 120.
wow, that is a mild winter.
We have had only 5" this year
never more than an inch or a little more at one time
and I am okay with that
The ski resort across the valley from me had a fair year--never had all of the trails open. I feel bad for their financial woes this yr.
with winters like this can they make their own snow?
I XC-skied just 5 times and snowhsoed 3. Usually I would ski or snowshoe 3-4 times weekly through thee winter.
Yes, making their own snow saved them. They were still open yesterday but I am sure they will close within the next wk.
Yes, it will be a bit warm to ski
Hi scrabs, Hi (((MOM)))
"Spring" skiing = wearing shorts + T-shirt. Last yr I XC-skied in March with a T-shirt on, but my ski pants. It was fun in the sun.
Hi dawg
((LBD)) hello
I have it the wall with only 52 words. I'll come back later with fresh eyes. ((Hugs)) to all of you
later ((Mom)) you will definitely find more words
(((Annie))) bye for now. Have a great day
later, (((MOM)))
you too
bye bye (((LBD))) have a great day.
Annie, I will .... ironing, cleaning the bathrooms
double ugh
14 remaining...bbl to finish.
bye dawg
Good morning, all.
morning, nana
I cannot get the ca8. I saw the clue about a social working having one with them all the time, but was wondering if someone could clue it a little more???
its a compound word---beginning with ca4
k - I'll keep looking
a man carries a ca_ _ with his papers and some times it is a heavy lo_ _
His brief Ca** is sometimes a heavy lo** to carry
gotcha
thanks
welcome
NBT and NBS!! (finally)
I need clues for the three 7's please
one is the plural of the ta 6 - position on a football team
got the ta 6/7 combo, thanks...any clues for the other 2 sevens?
ha7 - carefree, without restriction
good afternoon, Haz
Good morning/afternoon all. I'm declaring this grid to be a stinker.
Hello, Annie.
If you say it is a stinker then I am in trouble.
I've struggled to get to halfway although I'm hoping that a list will help. I think morewords will be consulted a few times along the way.
not quite halfway but still finding words so I am hopeful
I keep waiting for lightbulb moments but they never come. It's one word at a time.
Back from talking with social worker about an anxious first-time mother. More help with ha7 please?
A lot of Babble type words here.
ha7/44 - often seen in literature referring to the ha7 days of youth.
I have the ha and ta 7's...what does the 3rd seven start with please
7 LETTER WORD CLUE FOOTBALL
First four letters - think of the powder you use after a bath, but make it h instead of t at the start, then first letters of a word meaning 'over there'
TY Haz
You're welcome.
I don't know what the other 7 is yet, Buttonman, sorry.
se7 is the other.
se7 = Trifoso's #2 child !!
aha, thanks, cece
Trif will be pleased
TY Cece + Haz
It's the lower part in a piano duet. I've learned something.
I'm going to get some food. I'll probably kick something defenceless to relieve my frustration. Back later!
(No animals or children will be harmed in the kicking)
I have 3 7's - ha7/44 se7/36 ta7/48
stats for the 8 please
I dont have it teach
Morning all
Hi River + Bob
great clues in the chog today. Hi All
Hi Hego. I need 59 more clues as I am really stuck.
Poor Bunny. : (
just got the 8 - ca8/50 compound word
ca8,50
Hi scrabbs, bob and hego
yay River
morning al
all
hi hoot
Hi Hoot
hi hi hi
I'm still asleep
: )
Hi Hoot. I am ready to fall asleep but I work til 4:30.
me too - this time change is killing me
getting up in the dark again - I hate it
dst jet lag
Yu have all my sympathy - been there, done that and my job was paltry compared to yours!
I was on call since Fri evening so I am brain dead.
I am now on the 3 week countdown till my trip - cant wait - so need a vacation
Why do they do that to the MOST important people???
Where to River?
Punta Cana Domincan Republic
River is going to SO veg out!
I have my June, July + August vacation set--hiking + kayaking.
Sounds interesting! What made you decide on there? Family
you bet
Will your daughter be able to join you, River?
Scrabbs that sounds like what you always do with your free time.
my dear friend and I are both celebrating mile stone birthdays this year so we decided to leave the husbands and kids at home and go somewhere tropical. that island ended up being the most economical for us for an all inclusive trip
Lots of people go to Punta Cana. My friend enjoyed a zip-line place near there.
we plan on doing some sea kyaking while there

Oh that sounds like every womans dream! Away with no one to say no!

I went away without hubby last year. A great trip, but I missed him enormously.
hubby and I arent getting along quite so well right now so this separation may be good

Oh, information in the chat is priceless. And a learning experience, sometimes.
sifting is a good thing to do lol
Not really, just after thye war(!) it was the last houswe before the country started on the Nortyh Circular - nowaday London goes on for miles and I couldnt even tell which house it was - N Circular is a feeder road to the M1 now - you can chew the air round there!!

You have won $500- or what's behind Door Number Three.
I'll take the cash
The lead guy of Firesign Theater just died.
Let's see what's behind door number 3...
A mink stole!!!
just the thing to go with my tiara
From the Speigel catalog Chicago Illinois.
Or if any of you remember firesign Theater...
"The bag or the box?"
guess what I'm watching now?
"Why this is just a bag of..."
Days of Our Lips?
but that's good for the garden
"But it's REALLY Good..."
no...Perry Mason
it's so lame
Raymond Burr's eyes...
I love noir television.
love how he stares down the witnesses
(Oh, good- "noir" is not in the grid)
help with the ca6/24 please
http://firesigntheatre.com/index.php
ca6/24 - first four letters of what you might use to do sums (apart from fingers and toes), last two letters indicate plural.
ty haz
You're welcome.
hello haz
Hello, westford and everyone.
Our granddaughter and her friend are flying to Glasgow at the end of the month.
How long are they going to be there? They mustn't miss Edinburgh!
then will visit a college friend in Aberdeen but don't know what they'll do after that..
They can't not visit Edinburgh.
Mar 28 to Apr 8..I will tell them..
having dinner with them on Wed. night
are they close to each other?
Tell them I insist!
I will. Edinburgh would be my first choice too
Glasgow and Edinburgh are about 40 miles apart. Aberdeen is further north along the same east coast as Edinburgh. Tiny distances in American terms, of course.
she's in Cambridge MA now..an hour away from us in Rhode Island..we know tiny
Will it be their first time in Europe?
she also wants to see Loch Ness..the ruins of the family castle are there
yes it will..she went to Australia 2 years ago
she loves to travel
and never invites Grandmother lol
Then she'll be going even further north than Aberdeen if she heads to Loch Ness - she'll see some beautiful scenery.
Didn't one of your girls go to school in Edinburgh?
Yes, my younger girl studied in Edinburgh. Husband and I also went to university there, (it's where we met) and so I have a great fondness for the city.
How lovely.
I think Cassie won't want to come home.
I'm sure she'll have a great time, but no matter where you go, I think it's always nice to be home.
It's the travel to and from that gets to me.
I know, it can be very tiring - even just hanging around.
Flying used to be such fun..now it's just a way to get there.
I'd like to try flying first class but I doubt whether that will ever happen.
Speaking of flying I need to get going and make lunch for my husband who can look at a full refrigerator and not find a thing.
See you later, westford.
bye haz..I will be sure to tell Cassie to include Edinburgh
She'll not be disappointed, it's just lovely.
Edinburgh is magical - I'd love to go back with actual money to see and do things there! I had to see everything from the outside only when I was there, and loved it anyway.
Hello! =)
Hello, vicuna! How are you?
Splendid, thanks, Haz. And you?
And I'm glad you liked Edinburgh. I'm well, struggling rather a lot with this grid, mind you.
Hmmm... I haven't been finding it too bad so far. Perhaps I'm about to have a rude awakening.
But I am haunted by phantom manacles and monocles.
Back again. 57 to tease out of this tough grid. Anyone have a list?
Maybe I've just forgotten ever encountering some of these words before, but there seem to be a lot of unusual ones.
Scrabbler, Nononanette has Volley's list on her profile.
I've only done my once-through, so this is always the point when things get hard.
How odd that we can enter quite a number of relatively unknown abreviations of various organisations yet YMCA is not allowed! I expect YMCA is know in most countries. The fact that I have time to worry about trivialities such as this means the grid is beating me.
Aha, TY, Haz. Volley's profile is closed so I didn't know where else to go.
You're welcome, Scrabbler.
Hmmm... I can't think of any accepted abbreviations of organizations. The only acronyms I can think of function as real words, such as scuba and sonar.
What about the second aa word?
I tried the firesign url and was faced at once with large black letters saying FORBIDDEN. Scary. ;)
List also in Babblers Anonymous
lol - sure enough! I assumed that must have an actual word meaning, but perhaps not!
Sorry Vicuna, forgot to address you. Does the second aa word have a meaning other than an acronym?
Ta Vicuna.
OK, I printed the list. BabAnon didn't have it earlier today.
No worries, Patxxx. Just checked OED, and its apparently a plant, although given as capitalized, so it shouldn't count anyway. First rule of Babble: no one can fathom the mysterious ways of Enable!
So what is aa4/5? I have the aa4/4.
Thank you vm Vicuna. I hadn't realised that scuba and sonar were actually abreviations but should have.
Just shrug and start dancing *Y-M-C-A! It's fun to stay at the Y-M-C-A-A...*
*doing arm motions*
aa4/5 - sighs of relief when you finish this grid
aa4/5 is the sorts of things you say after having seen your second firework.
I always miss that stupid word, and when it is past tense.
Like the niece asea on the ocean shouting 'ciao'. All invisible.
Oh Blimey, I will be singing YMCA inc arm motions for the rest of the day. You do this to be regularly. My hubbie looks worried when I say 'I'm off to Babble'.
Yep, and feta is another one I miss.
lol. niece and ciao are especially tough for me - but I justify missing ciao because IT'S NOT ENGLISH FER CRYIN' OUT LOUD!!!
al6 clue please?
don't let feta get your goat scrabs
al6 - nut
al6 - a kind of nut
Silly Scrabbler. I gave up too soon. My favorite nut!
Poor Pat. Another victim succumbing to the insanity. =)
Hello, ruru.
Neither is ketchup or robot or many other 'borrowed' words.
good morning ladies
Surrender Pat. It's easier to not fight.
hi again all!
Hello Mr California!
Hi Prof Sue!
good morning, everyone :)
When did ruru win the title?
Excuse me I was perfectly sane when I started babbling but now I cry if it breaks down on me. Sad!
Hello, cybernan, uusue.
Hi nan
1978, I think.
I guess that's the question, eh, Pat? When does a borrowing get to count as English? If most native English speakers don't even think of it as a borrowing, then clearly it's full-fledged English. How many native English speakers who say "ciao" think they're speaking English?
Singing: *If you're mental and you know it, clap your hands...*
Ah, when he was in his prime, all chest hair and medallions.
*clapping AND putting my right foot in and shaking it all about*
Congrats, ruru. Can we see your tiara?
funny story like that involving "gesundheit", vicuna (tourists in Germany looking for someone who speaks English, think they've found someone)
Hello all.
<--- wants to see ruru's tiara too
lol - I like it, uusue. Hello, Judi.
Hi Judi
A's are done. Now on to the stupid C's.
I am sure Ruru has a manly sash and trophy.
i absolutely positvely hate this without lickety.. yes i am a spoiled baby
Brace yourself, Scrabbler, some c words don't exactly spring out at you.
It's really a bandana and some puka shells..does that count?
Ooh, very hot, Ruru!
No rhinestones? No rosebuds? No mascara tears? What kind of a beauty contest is this?
S'okay, ruru. But, that Speedo is a bit much. I've seen cabana boys, and you ain't no cabana boy.
We ARE spoiled, Ivesy
<---speedo days are over
have yo 4 -- what is the other, please?
I don't think Lickety would make a big difference. It's just a stinky grid.
im whiny cuz i have a cold. and it makes my copd worse , and i have to go to work. and i want to finish this and and ...
yo 4/8 and yo4/7
yo4/8 and yo4/7
ok, it is spring break, and now I am facing the piles of things that I said I would do over spring break, and I don't want to do ANY of them.
yo4/8 and yo4/7
yo4/8 and yo4/7
yo to you too nan lol
(oops, please excuse hiccough)
MUST they get done this week, Sue? If not then delay some more.
got the other y, thanks vicuna!
ty vicuna
lol, scrabs, some of them can wait until after I retire and then be done by someone else, I suppose!
but I probably should grade last week's exams...
are u retiring soon sue?
Do the vital stuff then forget about the rest.
June 30, ivesy
Just give them all brilliant grades. You'll get a great leaving present.
ok, exams it is!
oh, nice.. congrats... be 2 yrs for me in june., from my main job..
Be brave, be strong, uusue! You can do it!
I know I can, and none of it is even hard, just tedious
<--will retire when I am brought to a nursing home, hospice or morgue.
and thanks, ivesy, I am definitely looking forward to it!!
I've been on maternity leave for 28 years and am starting to think about easing down towards retirement.
used to think I wanted to work until I dropped - but things have changed and I am glad for the upcoming change
was retired for for 4 mos.. then went to work part time..guess after 31 yrs. becomes a habit
(Haz, you are so right. I am suddenly not liking these c's.)
Haha, Haz. Slow down.
first ca5 anyone? Monkey has tried some ridiculous words.
I told you so, Vicuna. Not that I'm being smug or anything.
this is my 3rd year of retirement and i love being able to do all the things that i have time to do now
I could come back (after 30 days) and teach again, and I do have some part time jobs with textbook publishers that will probably continue, so I will keep my hand in
ca5 - latin plural
Of what, Haz?
ca5/14 - start like Julius, finish like ruru's state
I have 6 c's to go... and not liking them at all
with retirement set to go to 67 here,i will retire at the exact second i drop dead on the job:(
TY
I think it's an anatomy word.
am planning on getting my soc sec. at 62.. dont care if i take a hit on it.. get it b4 gov. screws it up
Plural + Latin of cecum--end of small intestine
hi all
Hello, jmc.
Hi jm
Hello, jmc.
howdy jmc
hi crossy and jmc!
howdy suze
does the 6 build off the first ca 5
Monkey found ce5/14 = An amoeba is a one-ce*led organism. + CD-R**
Nope, ivesy.
Ooh, thanks, Scrabbler.
ty scwabby]
smart monkey, scrabs!
ok tks scrab
Hand held math helper = ca**ulator + Some of th**e grids are maddening.
i doubt i will ever retire--keep doing tax returns if nothing else
ty
i went from working in a nursing home to working in library.. will take library anyday
Nice thing about being an artist is you never stop. Admittedly I'll never get rich off it, either...
i hated visiting nursing homes as a lawyer--couldn't imagine working in one even though the work one today is better than the best one 20 years ago
i have a idea,,i will build a office desk, but put it on wheels, then incorporate handles from a walker on each outside edge.then we are good to go,we can totter around the office till our 90,s,while all the colege andf uni kids flip burgers waiting for us to die:/
My new baby has arrived and he is the cutest puppy I've ever met!
loves the idea crossy!.. i stay at library till i die, which i hope isnt too soon lol
yay ruby!
Yay, ruby!
yaa for new puppy!!
awwwww so glad ruby!
pictures! pictures! pictures!
It is beneath adolescents + young adults to flip burgers, you know. Well, that's what my friend's college daughter says. She wants a "fulfilling" job. So spoiled.
my boy has his job so the heck with the rest of the younguns
he settled in immediately, follows me around and is now sleeping under the kitchen table with his chin on the crosspiece
Yay Ruffino! Give him a hug from us.
that is wonderful, ruby! I am so happy for you!!!
she will learn that fulfilling is having a roof and food
they believe that being able to toss 40 grand at a education immediatly entitles them to a 6 figure job
when u need a job, u need a job.. nothing is beneath you.. i worked for 31 years washing clothes at the nursing home.. didnt love it, but paid the bills
When I worked in college cafeteria I made it fulfilling for myself by dispensing interesting vegetable facts with every serving.
so true ivesy
I made $1 an hour typing in every free minute to get through college
when i was a filing clerk i read everything i filed and still got done before the others
same thing when i was a messenger girl--asked how things worked
I spent a summer as a camp counselor - convinced me that I wanted nothing to do with kids - I am not good with them
My friend's daughter will not work at a fast food place or coffee shop. She truly wants something fulfilling but doesn't understand that she just needs to make money and keep going to school.
Haha, Sue. I did my Internal Medicine rotation in med school and knew that I wanted nothing to do with adults.
I didn't want to have to work there forever, but I got something out of it until I could find something else. I'm with MLK who said, "If a man is called to be a streetsweeper, he should sweep streets even as Michelangelo painted."
my boy drove for Super Shuttle when he was in college and worked for the history department as part of his scholarship
*sends scrabs a boot to give to friend*
she is in for a rude awakening i think
well, there you go, scrabs :-)
there are no small roles, only small actors as it were
It gets worse, jm. This girl quit college to "find herself" and has been living at a yoga institute in the Berkshires for 9 mo. Now she is crying that she doesn't know what to do next.
the street sweepers in argentina wear suits and sweep the streets with brooms they have made
Frank can't work in fast food - it would make him sick - he shoveled snow for the church this winter which made me nervous, not ideal for a 63-year-old without health insurance
good grief
I think we could all think of things for her to do next!!!!
she will figure it out if mom only agrees to pay for certain things like text books
ah, my son's half sister works at that yoga institute - she seems to be making a go of it, though
Poor girl. She's never been taught that she needs to make her life out of the materials to hand, life doesn't come ready-made on a silver platter.
True, Crossy. And my friend and her husband support her financially. I agree that she needs to be emancipated.
(assuming there is only one yoga institute in the Berkshires)
I think when the money faucet dries up, they tend to catch on
yes, time to get off the teat
i have to give my boy credit for knowing enough to always have money coming in from somewhere besides me
i worked at a maid, at a store. worked full time, and worked part time at a dept store when i got off from my full time job.. do what you have to do
i dug for antiques into my teens and early 20,s and sold them to antique shoppes
what kind of antiques, crossy?
to be fair there is a dearth of jobs, but when my boy was truly trying to find work i gave him some help
Krupalu in the Berkshires. Not the real world for the kid--very insulated. I have told my friend to stop enabling her daughter to be a perpetual adolescent (? toddler) and to cut off the money donations.
mostly glassware and old bottles and such from the early 1800,s to latter 1800,s
amen, scrabs
One summer I worked as a security guard.
yes, that's where Natanya (Leo's sister) works - she went there as a guest at first but now is on the staff (I think)
This would be funny if you could see me - 5'4" and skinny.
i was a food waitress, a cocktail waitress, mended clothes, cast horoscopes, a messenger, a gift wrapper, a telephone solicitor [didn't last long],. . . . .
when I earned $40/wk, I gave $10 to my mother and she never asked
Ruffino has arrived ruby?
yes and he is wonderful!
cl 5/22 plz
i would go to a town library, and sleauth down where the original town dump used to be,and quietly go digging.many small town original dumps were quietly buried at the turn of the century and into the early teen and new ones started as waste management came into vogue
Lots of snuggling? Marco and Polo say Bon Jour
cl5/22 - tells time
sounds like love ruby! on all parts
very relaxed and friendly, wags his tail when he sees me and even snores
bisous to them, too
you WILL post pictures, ruby, yes? Please?
omg.. ty vicuna
we need pics ruby
yes, I've already taken a few and will get them online tomorrow
I like the idea of a little security guard. We small ones can be very tough!
they call me the library cop.. i am a little over 5' lol
missing a ton of a's, but no idea as to what they are
I used to be a little over 5'......
I used to be 5' 4"
In case of emergency I would have had to say, "Excuse me sir, please don't steal that!" But in reality all I ever had to do was direct people to the restroom!
Anyway, speaking of what fabulous hard workers we all are, I must quit playing all day and earn my keep! Goodbye, all.
bye vic
Bye, Vicuna.
I once grabbed onto a guy who had picked my husband's pocket and didn't let go until he dropped it. I wasn't thinking!
bye vic
good thing most pick pockets are unarmed!
130 down - bbl
it was crazy, but he made me angry!
bye cyber
i have 9! days off now and shall sit here and babble and talk whimsy and blue sky all afternoon on a wide variety of topics both big and small:)
I just reached halfway. Is the list in the usual place?
bye nan
i got mine from mitchdick
Nononanette has one.
stats for the L on the bottom row please
Back. Was speaking with social worker here about a crying, stressed out first-time mother with a colicky baby.
vollymomdee is always good for a list
jacula has a list
I feel for the mother. I remember how colicky my son was in the first few months
ahh colic..remember it well
le4/4 - to rhyme with a snake-like fish.
le4/4
ain't like the commercials is it scrabs
I saw this mother + baby Saturday and spoke to the SW today because of my concerns.
ty ty
they put our boy in a oxygen tent and ran the o2 over pans of ice
is the baby at risk?
hope it turns out well--nothing like a colicky baby to encourage a little rough handling out of despair
First-time parents do not understand the stress, exhaustion, 24-hr work.
And, as I didn't, understand that you must sleep when the baby sleeps.
that is what i meant--in the commercial everything is white and sunny and the baby giggles
right - the idea that you can get things done while the baby sleeps is a pipe dream
thats why there is usually 2 of you..you sleep in shifts
It isn't all fun--putting cute clothes on the baby, taking photos, going for peaceful walks with a stroller.
those 2 hour feedings...60 diapers and what seemed like 100 sleepers to be washesd
and once the child bit my poor wifes nipples bloody, all the formulae making...
stats for the A in the last column please
I think the trick is, at least for nursing mothers, to drink a pint of Guiness a day, then everybody sleeps
No smile from baby til 6 or 8 wks. Just pure custodial work with no feedback from baby.
good advice ruby
ag4 and ag5
that is probably illegal in the US now haha
jmc,it is a popular euro stove range model
I really hate the C's. I have none of the cy's and need 5 more co's.
ty haz nbt

Vegetable oil from rapeseen

8seed
*rapeseed
Never heard of rapeseed. Have the word, just never heard of what it comes from.
That's why they named it ca 6/21. Didn't like the marketing value of rapeseed
it's shortened up from "canadian oil"
I have 3 co's that relate to a sleeping brain. what are the stats for the 4th?
co5/14
Have 4/6 nd two 5/14's

I am having an interesting day, NOT. I was doing laundry earlier and the sink in the basement, where the water drains, decided to overflow. The area around the washer was flooded!. I used rags and a sponge mop to get up a lot of the water.
then changed the dehumidifier to 0. Also opened the back door. The floor is dry now.
I had used a snake to get crap out of the drain twice earlier and it seemed to be ok. After all the water had drained out of the sink I used baking soda and vinegar. Will flush with hot water shortly.
hi, found a co5/24 =snugly=all warm and co***

Peri, has anything bulky gone down your garbage disposal lately? Potato peels or something. Your main water drain into the floor might be clogged.

<---Still doesn't understand why using the list is some kind of disgrace
List? What list?
woohoo halfway!
bbl maybe
it isn't molly - just like to get as far as I can without it
Aethany, there are lists of stats for all the words in some people's profiles.
Usually Jacula or volleymomdee or molly.
there is a list in volleymomdee's profile, aethanyc -- go to rankings > control F > enter volley in the drop down box and her name will be highlighted in the list - click on it to get to her profile
wow, I am past half way!
don't have the 8, though, does anyone know the stats for it?
Oh! And here I never knew about that, hahaha. Thanks guys.

are you at work scrabbs?
Yep, at an Indian Resveration Health Ctr, waiting for last kid--due in 15 min.
and there are two d05/14 sweets, singular and plural (or so I am guessing)
have that, sue -- there are two, back to back, after the pier

Hi all
Hi Boo
hi, boo!
Jacula posted a list (as usual) in Babblers Anonymous -- right-click and open in a new window.
Hi Jilli and Boo
Hi Jill
I have not been here in awhile..I have had lots of company
Hi hego
hi jilli and hego!
and nice to see you back, boo, hope your company was not too stressful
Hi Sue
Grr, how did I not see the burrito cousin?
there is a light at the end of the tunnel!
ty Scrabs
4 left. Last patient just arrived.
No not stressful..just coming and going
<--- heading home
Hi all -- just dropping in before lunch. It's been so windy here that all ferries have been cancelled. I was supposed to have an appointment with a plastic surgeon to have a basal cell carcinoma on my chin removed, but it was postponed (for the second time) and now I have to wait until April because the doc is going away for 2 weeks. Gaaah!
Yay Sue.
Aw, Jill, that stinks.
bye everyone I still have 80 left
HI Jilli, sorry about the wait.
Yikes Jill
jilli, are you having Moh's surgery
Well, at least I can do some more babbling (after lunch). 59 to go.
Uno. Geez, I had never planned to finish this miserable grid. SO many odd words.
Grrr, frog cousin was last word.
hi jill -- my husband is trying something new -- chop up an eggplant put it in a jar and cover it with vinegar. Give it a shake everytime you go to the fridge. After 3 days strain the eggplant out, dip a cotton ball in the vinegar solution and tape it to the basal cell with surgical tape. Change the dressing 2 x/day - basal cell should (might?) clear up in 3 weeks time.
go Scrabs!!
Woot, Woot, Scrabs
yay! Scrabbler!
How do I ever give clues for the many non-words?
No, bichon -- this was supposed to have been done before my (now cancelled) trip to Australia on March 6, and I would have had to wait months for Moh's. Ironic! I have had to wait months now for a mere excision with the available-earlier doc.
sorry to hear about all this aggravation for you.
hihi 76 to go here. dunno how much longer I can go with no list.
jill - did you see my note at 2:37?
nan, I don't think that would work in this case -- the thing is barely visible and fairly extensive -- just a pinkish area but biopsy said bcc.
something to try in the meantime!
yes that is what hubby has
he has 2 on his arm that keep coming back
Harry, see my note at 2:31
I just might try it, nan!
ty jilli...I'm not quite ready to list - kids are coming home any minute anyway.
of course, he will go to see the doc again as soon as we get back to BC, but is trying this in the meantime. Google eggplant + basal cell, or melanoma and you should come up with the info
Sounds like a column in the newspaper "The People's Pharmacy"
Thanks, nan, will check it out.
Ok, Harry -- thought you didn't know there WAS a list.
basal cell, okay, but melanoma, too scary
Going for lunch now -- back later to troll for clues etc. Thanks for those I've found so far!
bye jilli
68 to go...bbl

no it was on the Dr. Ox page, or a link from it, by people who had tried it successfully instead of the $150/tube cream that was featured on the show a week ago.

"Little Weird Words" it's like a Babble theme song.
*little weird words, in the gridboard little weird words full of vowels and what little weird words in the gridboard little weird words none the same. There's a vowel one and a Greek one and a Scots one and a Yiddish one and they're all made out of random letters and they all look like nonwords

If 4 out of 3 7's is a stat you are getting on Lickety Expert...that program needs tweaking. Has for a while.
not using expert
Then how are you seeing 4 out of 3 7's? I'm confused.
hello
hi hurshy!
Hi Hursh, how are you feeling?
not great
: (
what's the matter, hurshy?
nasty mean cold, and forgot to take psych med yesterday, result: excess anxiety
bummer, hurshy!
it's really weird, even when you KNOW it's irrational and result of not taking meds and that it will go away and everything... i guess it takes some edge off but you really just can't talk it away
that may have sounded wrong and was not meant to denigrate the use of talk therapy
been there
no, I get it, hurshy, have tried both and still haven't decided which really works, if anything does
i like my talk therapy i meant more talking MYSELF out of feelings
hey mab!
ah, that has never worked for me either, hurshy, at least not for any extended length of time
I guess it depends on which are the dominant voices in your head.
i feel so sure i will get breast cancer someday. probably in the next 5 years.
I've found that SSRI's really take care of most of my anxiety and depression. Haven't been in talk therapy for long periods of time
Why do you say that hursh. Do you have the BRCCA mutation
my sister in law and another friend both have it and both had kids late, and i have no kids, and both of those similarly give you an increased risk
no i don't know anything about my genes
well, my sister had kids early and got breast cancer; it's a small indicator of risk but certainly not definitive
Yes, but it's only a slight risk. Not as much as if you have the BRACCA mutation
i know i just feel like i will get it cause i'm so afraid of getting cancer
it's not rational
I went through a period of panicking about breast cancer (since my sister had it, and my mother had ovarian cancer), but have mostly relaxed about it now
i wouldn't mind if you could just get it and that was it. it's the treatments i'm afraid of.
If you let yourself dwell on it Hurshy, it will feed your anxiety
I agree with Bich. Why not dwell on not getting it.
I've been tested for the mutation as a number of people in my family have had the mutation and cancer. But, since I don't have the mutation, I feel much better. And, I have a yearly mammogram
it helped me a little to calculate what my expected risk was (although in the absence of genetic testing it was a bit of a crap shoot)
i was just giving an example of the irrational anxieties.
I find myself less anxious now that I have dogs and I exercise a lot
the odds are, of course, against you becoming ill. My sister was diagnosed last April with stage III. The tx was not pleasant, but it wasn't horrid either. today she is cancer free.
both are good for anxiety
and if it were as easy as just not dwelling on it, I'm sure Hurshy wouldn't be - went through a lot of that myself, it's not something you can stop especially if it's not rationally based
yeah usually i'm fine it's just being sick and missing a dose and all that.
((((hurshy)))))
If I miss a dose or two, I get very dizzy, which feeds into other things. Try not to do it..but
on the bright side, co5/24 is a nice word to have in the grid
you are simply not yourself right now hurshy. keep reminding yourself that there is no point in worrying about something that may never happen.
ca6/21 pls?
and as all know in here ,i have had cancer three times,my da has had cancer twice,my granpa died of cancer and me mum died of cancer in 91 (((hursy))) my da and i are now cancer free.worrying about what may be is like emptying the ocean with a tea spoon
yeah dizzy and lightheaded. ick.
Mary, it's a type of oil used in cooking
live and love for today
ca6/21 is a type of oil, mary
and I agree about the co5/24 word :-)
a nice crossy fry up would fix you up just right:)
ty uusue & flosey, you guys are awesome.
yvw Mary
Sorry, I guess I should just hush. I didn't mean to imply that not dwelling on things was easy.
((molly))
I find that if I exercise [mostly power walking with the dogs] my body release natural anti-anxiety
different things are easy for different people that's for sure. my sister called me up one time to ask me to explain to her why children disobey. she was a very compliant child so she doesn't understand why her kids don't have as strong a drive to please her. :)
i do not know about anxiety, but i do know about facing death,on many levels and like bichon says, you need a nice energetic outlet and live for the person you are now..and i will shut up ,but i offer this because i care
i felt like trying to explain this was like trying to explain different colors to a person born blind
that was sweet crossy
i understand hurshy. I am a worrisome sort, by nature
i wish i were vulcan. wouldn't it be nice to always be logical?
yes mab - but they do have to work for that control!
it would be interesting to have a book that featured vulcan mental illness.
they do?
(((hurshy))) I have been there, it is hard to explain to people (I had a particularly nasty ex who didn't understand why I couldn't just "cheer up" when I was profoundly depressed)
yes, vulcan history is very violent, more than ours. so that is why surak developed the non-emotional path of logic and people followed him to avoid the self-annihilation of the race. by kirk/spock time, as they grow up, they have to learn to control their emotions.
however - I had better grade some more papers 0
(apologies for the extraneous 0. My computer has been acting up lately)
I didn't know that.
ah well any time you want a brief xenohistory chat, i'm your gal
william shatner is doing a stage thing call 'Shatner's World (the rest of us just get to live in it)'
Hi -- back again
hi jilli
did you lose power at all today?
yes i saw him promoting that on colbert.
he's odd, but almost likeable.
flosey -- I saw you had a power outage -- I didn't, but had to cancel my surgery in Duncan -- ferries not running -- now it will not be until April 10 -- surgeon going away for 2 weeks!
almost probably being the key word there
what a delay jilli, sorry about that
how irksome jilli. what is the surgery?
oh. that's too bad jilli
That's the second delay. Never mind -- I get some time to Babble and do other things.
hi all, only have a minute. Can i have a clue for the top N for nbt?
well, it's a good thing that such trials can't keep a good woman down.
skin cancer, hurshy -- just a basal cell carcinoma. Not scary. Neither was the breast cancer I had in 2000 -- all gone, only needed radiation.
it's loud in here, suefrad
no5/14
hmm, what does the 8 start with?
ty hurshy and flosey

This is not a nice grid imho
I agree Jilli, was just thinking of giving up
agreed, jilli
I'll third that.
oh, btw, are you interested in up & coming tenors?
3 young Italian boys, (Il Volo) will be on PBS at 7: pm tomorrow
i very much like tenors.
depends if they're hunks or not, lol!
they were mid teens when they started a couple of years ago
saw an ep of murder she wrote today where jessica says, "i hate to put a damper on this conversation with rationality". i hope someday i find an appropriate place to work that line in.
ooh. thanks
lol, young hunks jilli
I think I've seen them
good line hurshy
I often watch PBS so may catch them
i watch murder she wrote when i need comforting. angela lansbury is so solidly down to earth in that show.
I have it on my notice board so I don't forget
yeah i admire jessica fletcher a lot
I always loved Angela Lansbury
there was a lot of chog talk about rationality a little while ago
she's so self sufficient
yes mab
one time i had a friend suggest that maybe my anxiety and nightmares were related to reading/watching a lot of murder mysteries. lol. yesterday i watched an animal planet show about cute kittens, called "too cute" . i proceeded to have a nightmare last night that i had too many kittens to look after. woke up sweating.
ha! nothing is better than a p.d. james, ruth rendell, etc.
i don't think i've ever had a nightmare resulting from a murder mystery.
but my brain is clearly capable of fashioning a nightmare out of ANYTHING!
it must make you anxious about sleeping
well i don't have as many anymore as i did before i got on meds
it's a paradox - you want to avoid sleeping, but if you do you become more distressed
i do not think what you read is to blame,i read read more books ,on more topics, some of which would make your toe hair curl:)
indeed, crossy.
toe hair?
sorry part hobbit ya know
ohhhh
:)
though i had a nightmare about running out of bacon once...
I'm going to give up for a while, hopefully come back with clearer head
sounds like an appropriate crossy nightmare
oh crossy, that must have been devastating
i am not belittling your condition hurshy, just trying for a smile;)
i am from very earthy limey stock.its in my blood to make the ladies laugh
belittling doesn't seem to be in your nature crossy
for my mrs,i would play the fool forever:)
it is not flosey
I just finished an amusing mystery by Brit writer L.C. Tyler called "The Herring in the Library", featuring Ethelred (a "third-rate mystery writer") and Elsi (his agent). No gore.
:D
ok, off for a bit - maybe a little walk
and for friends i have been known to don the cap
am looking forward to lots of murder mysteries after I retire (who am I kidding, I read lots of them now!!)
making note. thanks jilli. later flosey.
lol,i do not think i could increase my book intake any further by retiring!
*Elsie
guess i could spend my retirement years turing all those read to rags softcovers in my book cases into nice hardcover replacements...
jilli, thanks for the eggplant info - I knew I had read about that before -
I love that p.d. james just published a murder mystery about, is it jane eyre? at 90
I'm missing a do 5/14 -- have the Italian sweet(s), the pl of welfare, the Greek vine leaf, the anagram of the vine leaf...help, please
yw sue -- I'm a skeptic
I must get that p.d. james, mab!
me too, jilli, that is one of the blogs I subscribe to (respectful insolence)
nice, sue -- I just found it!
there's another one called science-based medicine that is also very good
looking at jac's list I only see four do5/14, looks like you have them all
there's another site call Quackwatch.com...
oh yes, I am familiar with it, very good site
I see I'm missing one D word -- must check the list again, sigh
A young lady recently said she couldn't drink milk because she had had a "liver cleansing". I said too bad -- it's such a good source of calcium, and she replied that milk doesn't have much calcium anyway.
a liver clensing?
Quackery is rampant on this island.
lol,did she send it out for a wash and wax?
Believe me, it's not limited to your island, jilli!
Indeed -- "liver cleansing". Ridiculous.
i wash mine with vodka, and wax mine with bacon grease and my colesterol is 96 or 2.5 i canadian measure:PPP
crossy is very proud of his cholesterol :-)
i am indeed

You must have magical metabolism, crossy
i may get a t-shirt make with the numbers on it
it must be all that vodka dissolving all that bacon grease
not sure jilli,i quit the smokes ten years ago,am 50 pounds overweight but am 6 foot 2 inches and have walked miles a day for the last 30 years in my work
good evening all :)
ah -- the walking...
do not know if that all adds up to a hill of beans or what:)
howdy sprite:)
hello spritey!!!!!
bout 5 miles a day in total jilli
*hugs crossy and jilli*
hi sprite!
*hugs uusue too :D*
sprite -- what does the tiny writing in your icon say?
it says: Buddha, please help me accept the humans the way they are.
just read your profile about the icon themes, sprite, now I feel bad :-(
ah -- wonderful, sprite!
and my cats accept me only with great reluctance...
don't feel bad, uusue. It was time to let it go, too few people enjoyed it and even fewer contributed.
I love that cat. The way it looks at the buddha... priceless
ah well - it was the existence of the themes that got me started on putting up the astronomy picture of the day as my icon - perhaps I'll put a little homage in my profile...
I always enjoyed your astronomy pics, uusue. I even subscribed to that site for a while. Very beautiful pics.
it brings out the teacher in me, too (although that is not hard to do!) :-)
sue, I count 5 do 5/14s in jac's list and I only have 4
lol uusue, I know! I have that teacher gene in my blood and it is hard to suppress!
ditto
do 5 Girls name and reindeer
do 5 Girls name and reindeer
hi JaxH
thanks, jax!
i am sorry for your icons sprite::( some things catch on,some do not..speaking of which it is now time for crossy,s quote of the day!!!
If atheism is to be used to express the state of mind in which God is identified with the unknowable, and theology is pronounced to be a collection of meaningless words about unintelligible chimeras, then I have no doubt, and I think few people doubt, that atheists are as plentiful as blackberries... - Leslie Stephen (1832-1904), literary essayist, author
that's a do5/12, jax
Hi everyone
and hi :-)
yes, and I had it too
well the icons have been quite a success for a while, crossy. But not anymore. *hugs*
((sprite))
what I see on jac's list are four do5/14 and two do5/12
lol I kept on longer than I wanted, because I didn't want to let jilli down... I should have mailed with her sooner!
what do you think of clive barkers works i sent you sprite? a little dark and gloomy is he not.he reminds me much of H.P Lovecraft or August Dearlth
I love clive! Very rewarding reading.
ok, now I have all the d words. Still only four do5/14. There is also a da5/14.
yeah, a bit gloomy, but not too much. Not hopeless. Just... dark.
Changing icons every day is more than most people want to fool with. How about icon theme of the week? Or month? If someone else want's to take it on. I'm sure Sprite is ready to hand off the baton.
don't worry about letting me down, sprite -- as you know, I saw this coming ages ago.
he came to my brothers store for a book signing about ten years ago.drank an entire bottle of whiskey but was pleasant and stayed for over 12 hours
I was happy with your email, jilli, so I could let it go now. Babbler and I have done a good job for quite a lot of years!
wow crossy
he says he was drunk or stoned for most of his books of blood writing
it is all in my profile, Molly
Hi Gang! : )
sprtie, you exceeded Babbler in your efforts -- at least she got lots of suggestions from other babblers and you had to dream up so much yourself.
yeah... I think I knew that, crossy. He travels a lot on that dark side. But he can tell about it. Quite well.
Hego! :D
hi hego!
yes,he can hold your hand and lead you down dark paths
Hi Sue
does anyone know if lickety will ever work again? I really miss my clues
Hi hego!
howdy hego
aash
damn!
it was fun for a long time, jilli! And I learned an amazing lot from the themes. Thinking up new ones was fun too, but I am kind of exhausted.
scramble it a bit, hego...
we don't know, tceicher. We will just have to wait and see.
XOXOXO to Sprite
I miss them too, tc -- I believe mrp has taken over but is away from computers just now, hoping to return.
ty sue
Oh, I though mrp was the originator.
thanks hego :) *hugs* right back at ye.
: )
no, it was her husband, Lickety, who made and did the clues. But he is not available for it at the moment.
this grid is kicking my arse:(
<-- still hoping for a do 5/14 which is not the Italian sweet(s), the Greek vine leaf, or its anagram...

i also sidestepped the confusion, usually i am the centre of it;)
smart wolf
still beats grading exams :-P
indeed
I am usually at the side, feeling very stupid, crossy :)
i count on my list 7 do5
doesn't it, uusue!
*Mixes Sue a drink for her patience in trying to clear up the do5/14 confusion*
nevermind that nonsense sprite,we all have great fun, learn a few words and stay out of seedy bars
I have shut up.
if sinh is valid, I want tanh!
ah no.. i was counting the do6 too...
It's for the best.
HA!!! I thought so! :-)
here hego, have one of crossy,s famouse long island iced teas...
You mean I could be in a seedy bar right now?
*unlocks hego's mouth very quickly*
thanks sue :)
*Enrolls everyone in remedial counting class*
I can have your ice tea in a seedy bar, right?
<--- joins hego in the seedy bar
Oh MG, Crossy i would LOVE that!!!
long island iced teas for all!'
lol molly :) did u see once upon a time?
Gacy is in the grid. Makes me think of John Wayne Gacey.
i do them from scratch..no pre mix
!YAY!!
hi Kaplan
its actually spelled gacy, kap
Yes I did Cos.
Hi Kap!
crossy... recipe? Please?
amazing twist, i thought molly!
Makes me think of when Sarah Palin was on a speaking tour and she said she was really honored to be in John Wayne's home town
but it was actually John Wayne Gacey's home town.
I remember that, kap :-)
NO!?!!
OOps!
1/2 ounce each of gin, rum, vodka and triple sec,3/4 fill the glass with a good pink lemonade, pot in splash of coke or pepsi for colour and top with shaved ice and garnish with lemon or lime slice
What? Mary Margaret's fingerprints?
painful
no. the wolf.
Oh- it is Gacy? Well, then!
put*\
found it -- a do 4/5 meaning the pl of "a unit for measuring the intensity of pain." Very appropriate.
i do have a theory on the fingerprints though!
lol jill --- darn i have that already.
thank you, crossy!
And hi everybody.
if you do them correctly, your legs go wobbly after 2 of them:)
Oh, yes. I like the way they reinvent the fairy tales. I wasn't surprised about Mary Margaret's fingerprints. Regina wants her out of the picture, not the guy.
I always try putting an "s" on the end of anything that could be a 3-letter word
What if your legs are already wobbly?
How would you know?
then you may even out;))
and pfffflt to Molly for the remedial counting class
: D
Hi Kap -- this chog is speedy, unlike moi.
lol uusue, me too!
i thnk kathryn is still alive because the heart wasn't squashed up. regina squashed graham's heart and he died. so i 'm betting kathryn is still alive
me three!
back to the grid
Which show are you talking about?
Lisa Rinna is back on Days. So they are renaming the show "Days of Our Lips."
as usual, I am blind to the biggies. But only 100 left!
lol
whee! just monkied the lone l:))
good job crossy!
:))
I gotta go have dinner with the family. Shoot.
bye, kap :-)
enjoy, Kaplan
just show them where the table is:)
nite Kap
Hey! i could use one.
Sprite, you are up very late!
yeah, can't sleep. Got a bug, and a stubborn teenager son. And a testy husband.
terrible combo!
sounds like time for a tea:))
help with al6 please?
crossy,s special tea
nut, cos
only if it is your tea, crossy!
a nut cos
it's a nut cos
bitter nut, cos
feed one to testy hubby first
oh wow.. fish me thanks
Ew, kind of gross Cos, but could be.
what a bunch of nuts!
yeah... well he is sound asleep, of course. As is son. Yay for babble and babble friends :)
Sometimes you fell like a nut, sometimes you don't.
what the heck is the am 5,6?
sometimes you feel like a nut,yea!..sometimes you don,t..peter paul al6 joys got nuts, peter pauls mound don,t!..i am a victim of 70,s tv!
snap
YAY! for us!
am5/12: the root of any of several plants, as Mexican species of agaves, used as a substitute for soap.
a + subterraneous animal
am 5/6 a + rodent
Use it every day. (Not.)
hi all
ty Sprite
hi peri!
hey peri :) And yvw hego
Hi Peri
hi peri
the first ca5 please?
I am missing 6 co words. Grading exams is starting to look better.
ca5 ends the way it starts and has a vowel in the middle. Anatomical word.
pour yourself a drambuie and gibe them all a c+
nah... grading exams gets boring very soon, especially if they all make the same stupid mistakes.
give
me too Sue, leaving them for last.
no + or - grades here yet, crossy, faculty are still debating the issue
if the mistakes are all random, then they are dolts,if all the mistakes home in on a specific area, then they missed something nes pa?
thanks got the ca5
or the teacher sucks, but that is no option in this case :D
combination of dolts and missing things, they need more practice
love your "nes pa", crossy -- not quite French, n'est-ce pas?
well,we were all new once..
you sure? I sometimes feel like I was born worn-out already
how about the first ca6 too>
it is ok,i tried very hard to unlearn the french that was forced on me as a child, now i retain just enoug to order food, booze and get my face slapped by pretty ladies in bars
when i was in paris once, i met some men who thought that all canadians spoke french.
*loves crossy*
hey mab!
did you grow up in quebec?
lol mab,we try and drive all night to the east coast to go right through quebec without stopping
hi sprite
ca6 starts off like the thing my students keep forgetting to bring to the exam (I should suggest that they have a backup slide rule); ends as a plural
Lots of people seem to think that all Quebec residents speak French. Not so.
lol,can you imagine giving kids your old slide rule?? lol now that would be funny
i love french - beautiful language
I have a slide rule app on my phone but just for laughs, don't really remember how to use the thing
i used to be quite good at it at one time
I give up. what is the first an/14
me too, crossy, but that was about 40 years ago
ur an5ing us with that questio, hego :P
an5/14 - you will be quite irritated when you find it, hego :-)
thanks :)
the first ca6?
Oh! fish for dinner!!
ty
I actually found a fish in this grid
clued at 6:44, cos
although maybe not too helpfully
I will ca**ulate it **pecially for you, cos
there is also a mollusk in da grid
true, crossy! nice watery grid.
thanks!
sue
yvw!
sprinte too :)
Smash is on tonight at 10pm on the east coast
Anyone have a take on "Awake?"
been watching that Peri
smash?
it is good sue
Awake?
the reviews said it's very confusing Kap
I am afraid we are always years behind you guys with series.
I think "Awake" is exploring alternate time lines.
very good show -- smash
Do you think it is good?
about how a broadway show is done
i am on the verge of tossing cable for netflix,i will save enough on the cable bill to get a nice hsdtv and get one dvd movie a month:) tired of all the crap on cable when only half a dozen channels are worth anything
I started thinking about the premise when I was sitting with a client-and wondering whether I was dreaming...
I do, but I think most people are going to find it too tiresome to follow. A lot of people bailed on LOST because of that same reason.
<<<<loves Netflix
and I actually felt disoriented for a moment.
I only have very basic cable, and only because internet + very basic cable is cheaper than internet alone from Comcast. Go figure.
Am I dreaming now? Are you part of my dream?
only co's left. must bite the bullet.
Is there really no such thing as babble?
it's all a nitemare Kap.
Most people would say I'm part of your nightmare Kap.
A question others have explored- but a salient one.
Touche.
yes kap.... too too true
kap, kap! wake up!
is there really such a thing as us kaplan..we may ne naught but a dust mote on some flower isn some galactic field
How do I know I haven't made up the last ten years?
am I a monk dreaming he is a butterfly... or am I a butterfly dreaming it is a monk? Old Zen story.
But the guy in "Awake" KNOWS he has two realities.
a grain of sand on a beach under a purle sky with 3 moons...
I think of that story every now and zen.
purple
what are you people smoling?
smoking even
I like the closing sequence of Men in Black.
I don't smole.
I quit smoling a long time ago.
finally... the 8!
You should too.
kap quit years ago
haha,I don't smole or smoke
What if we could all know all of our realities? It's all in what you choose to believe.
I'd smole if it wasn't a phantom
Put that in your pipe and smole it.
Reality is a choice.
Reality is for people wo can't handle drugs.
Oy! look what I did now!
so fake it till you make it
Non-reality is a choice too.
Listen to Sprite. lol
Non-reality is compulsory.
reality is for extra credit.
;)
missing two co5/14 help?
one now
Non-reality is not a choice. It is a condition.
:)
I can't get into that "it's all what you choose to think about" thing here Kap. No one buys it.
Reality is constructed by consensus.
I don't agree
therefore, I am not real
I don't agree with myself. But maybe this is a dream.
co5: deeper than sleep, latin plural
Speaking of Firesign Theater...
co5: same word, but end in a consonant
Cogito, ergo sum.
co5: short for apartment
oooo latin!
(that's not a co clue)
luctor et abortus, jilli :)
A Latin from Manhattan!
ok, off to watch TV and grade more exams. See you all later!!
Tempis fugit.
Jilli quotes Descartes. Nice.
bye uusue, it was great to see you
which is short for tempus fuggedaboutit.
1 left!!
oh and co5: the normal plural to the deeper than sleep state
She puts Descartes before the horse.
thanks sprite :)
:)
yvw!
the last co5
oh my... with that ha biggy it is a rather classical grid!
OK, ignore my pun.
there is one co5/24, did you get that one
done!!
good pun
yayyyy hego!
kap is an excellent punster
I was at a conference where a presenter actually said that "there is a current debate in the field about whether there exists a spirit outside of the material body."
ty ty
Current debate? Really? If the last 3 millenia are current, I guess.
lol... yeah if that is current, so are dinosaurs
hasn't that been debated, like, forever/
If Ruru were here he would say it may not be a currant debate, but good for her for raisin the topic.
lol
But Ruru is not here.
true, true
to be here or not to be here...
This same scientis showed a powerpoint slide showing the energy in a fresh cabbage as a
opppsed
opposed to the lack of energy in cole slaw.
at my age I just check to make sure I'm here. lol
OK, this is Harvard.
back for a few more
just checked my bed... I am not there.
No wonder the political candidates are recommending that people not go to college.
hi flosey
the more intellect , the sillier.
Hi Flo
hello sprite, haven't seen you in a long time
hi hego
Firesign Theater: "How can you be in two places at once if you're not anywhere at all."
lol Sprite
RIP Peter Bergman , the Firesign Theater.
haven't played much, flosey, and when I did, it was at odd times. Is, actually, grin.
ok the sa6 fish is showing up in my word list as sa7/28!!!
kap, did you hear the clip of interview on fresh air today about fire sign?
<<<<<just trying to cope with the here and now
good to see you
If I am not truly this body, then who's arthritis is this?
hey Une! And wow that is odd!
No...
Hi Une
It's the arthritis you are imagining you have Kap.
Whose?
which means I have 4/3 7's . . .
hello,all
very special, Une. You get preference treatment, or what is that called
i bet it means i won;t get firewords . .
Une, what list are you talking about?
you might want to refresh, Une
my word list next to the grid
If Ruru were here, he might say "What's a nice arthritis like you doing in a joint like this."
But alas, he is not.
So sa6/21 is showing as sa 7/28? That is bizarre.
So it goes unsaid.
i've refreshed 4 times
force-refresh, Une?
yes molly --freaky!!!
Especially since there is no sa7/28.
Thank you btw for saying I am a good punster.
I think there is no such thing as a "good" punster.
Gevalt.
I am going to say good nite to all and find a TV show to sleep to.
How about clever punster
night hego, sleep well
Bye Friends!!
gnite, hego
Good night Hego.
POOF!
Did you know that Gevalt was the originator of Gevalt Therapy? But Gestalt got all the credit. Hence the phrase "Oy Gevalt!"
Ha ha- good one.
: P
i need the co5 right after the co5/24 please?
clue for no5/14?
Gevalt Therapy. I must use that one. It is a Perles of wisdom.
"You do your thing and I do my thing"
loud, Une
gevalt.
tx!!
never mind found it!
"I am not in this world to live up to your expectations and you are not in this world to mess with mine"
Rhinoplasty.
yw :)
Oh good, now we don't have to discuss how many co 5's there are. : D
"and if we happen to meet along the road, it's beautiful."
barf.
And if I happen to sleep with my patients and trainees- hell, that's cool too.
and if, by chance, we find eachother... we don't have to go to Lost and Found.
13 to go -- brb with a vodka :-)
lollll jilli! What happened to the banana and milk? You've gotten wild!
Sprite, they don't know of what we speak.
C's done!
Gotten wild? Jilli has always been wild. That's why I like her so much. : )
hey, but that's ok, Kaplan. They are not in this world to catch up with our conversations... errr...
Gestalt therapy soon spawned a counter-movement-
Gesundheit Therapy.
I do my thing and you do yours.
Oh, I thought it was Corian Therapy.
atchooooooo!
you do your thing and mine, and I lean back and watch you work
wasn't 178 yesterday?
sprite, it's not bedtime here -- the vodka will be preprandial, lol!
Yesterday's pun- I forget who said it...
oh to be Jung again.
*grins at jilli*
Id would be nice.
We already had this conversation. Oh no- a recurrant dream!
lol kap, gray on top!
Pickles, if I remembered things like that, I would worry about myself.
oh dear there Ego's again
My raisin d'etre!
Psychobabble.
Kap is a punster supremo
4 left and of course one missing C.
Thank you again.
<-- flees the psychobabblers
There goes another one...
"I'm groovy and you're groovy too."
lol... my last word was the nimbus around my head. Fireflies!
congratulations!
Hooray for sprite!
Aura?
ok I guess I should try that bed again and see if we agree better now. Thanks all, and *hugs*.
I have to go and take a sleeping pill.
no, just the golden disk, Kaplan

Sleep tight , sprite -- was so good to see you!
To wake up to my other reality in which I am the Prince of Wales.

Phantom of the day for me: shallot
ty ruru
my phantom: cyanide and camel
my phantom: condom
d's done
Hmm, cyanide, camel and condom.
story time, molly! lol
don't forget the shallot molly
Oh yes, the shallot. Shirl, I think my story would get me a long time out from this place. : P
wow.. talk about a dangerous hump
So Min does a story of clues and Molly does a story of phantoms.
Molly, I think it would have to be about a randy camel driver trying to disguise the taste of the cynide with shallots.
so - don't judge, but my husband has jackass on tv and i'm watching. and they actually do a bit where they smack each other with a giant catfish
help with fo6?
i thought of babble
a randy camel driver wearing a condom...
Fish Slaps. Babblers can relate.
would be interesting story
I would think a catfish would hurt
LA, are we supposed to be surprised that in a movie like Jackass, they smack each other with fish? : D
fo6 is like the first word in the cancan dancing troupe.
Peta should know about it don't you think?
I'm sure boogers and farts are a part of the story line too. : P
no. but i just liked that our figurative act was actually a reality
sounds fishy to me LA
still not getting it wht
la cage a fo 6..

Shirl, ca6 Newton's math + Spanish for is.

bakersfield is more the sphincter of California
the best restaurant in Bakersfield is Krispy kreme

Cool - can you please tell her I'm home from Phoenix, AZ, everything is good, and I'm in recovery. :) I'll keep trying to bump into her here too.
I will certainly do that. She has not been playing babble much nor on FB due to some hurtful things. I will send her an e-mail right away.
Hurtful things?? That sounds terrible!
I just updated my profile here too for anyone else that's been thinking of me. :)
I know. She said one time that someone had been bashing her on FB; I'm not on enough to know what was going on but for her to stop playing it must have bothered her deeply.
