Hello Sprite. How lovely to see you
and you! How have you been?
Very well..its been a pretty mild Summer and now it is almost over. Have you been well/busy?
busy for sure, but we all got a flu here, I am the last to succomb to it. Very much enjoy to be able to play babble in between naps :)
You got it last year too didn't you? Do you get flu shots as a preventative?
no I didn't, I let it slide. But this is not a BIG flu, luckily. Just the kind of virus that keeps you in bed for a week.
that Q is ornamental only today, isn't it?
..that sounds like a holiday! and make sure the kids bring you goodies as I bet they brought the flu home
and no, not a holiday... all muscles sore, severe cold, coughing, head ache, dizzy and nauseated... but nothing serious.
hey... a message lost in cyberspace. Before that post, I wrote: the usual: mum walking her legs off bringing goodies to kids and make them less miserable... and just now I got a big mouth from my son because I wanted him to walk the dog before school ;)
good morning from puppyland!
Good morning
Good morning from puppyland
seem to be stuck.....
whoot back into the game. have had the red wall of death for nearly an hour
alas, a lot of previously entered words not in my list....:(...have to reenter them
granny!! Ruffino is here and he is a great charmer! Happy, smart, friendly and, believe it or not, housebroken!
I am trying to get my new photos onto the computer, but it's not so easy
oooh, ruby......such good news!!!! and himself....how has he taken to ruffino?
he smilled a little, but hasn't participated very much
hey, that's a start...try to be patient, my friend. breaking thru to himself is going to be very difficult
we are so fortunate to have connected with our "dog friends" from Italy and that there was the perfect pup available. And they brought him yesterday; we could never have made that 10 hr, round-trip drive!
but all this extra work (and stairs!) is probably good for me
so good, ruby. lol. maybe, maybe not...the stairs i mean. so long as ruffino gives you some joy...which you well deserve.
happily, the afternoons are warming up so I'll try to do some gardening with my pups milling around
my ack hurts, but it always hurts, so I might as well be active!
lucky you. our weather is supposed to be cooling, autumn here, or supposed to be.
back* (my ack too)
ahhh, ruby, please don't overdo it, you are precious, you know.
we had a brutal winter, but the spring here is always wonderful - all the bulbs are up and we should start seeing daffs in two weeks or so
the photos I've taken so far aren't very good, but you'll get an idea of him, anyway
daffs always bring such happiness, don't they?
and here, they grow alongside yellow primroses (wild), so it's the first bit of spring for me
you know, have never seen a primrose...:( maybe when i eventually come over, you can share with me. * tries to remember....europe in our aurumn*
they are simple flowers, grow in clusters and cover whole fields sometimes. The viloet ones are prettier, but our yellow grow next to the daffs along the driveway
the new puppy is so bold, he just pushed past Ruby and came into the studio
would be such a delight to see, ruby. * sigh *
whoa....and what has ruby to say ?
you'll do it, one of these years!
she is being OK with him except she won't eat, really hasn't eaten much since Max left
and when I put her food down, Ruffino pows right in
poor little dog....pining, i guess. can you tempt her with anything?
just now, the gendarme who was in charge of husband's dog-bite case just called to see if we had any news of Max and said he'll come and see the new puppy. Isn't that amazing?
not such a little dog! 35 kgs
sending you a couple of photos, half way in this silly little grid, and going to sort out my furry family
{{rose}}
well, i never....constabulary interested in other things, besides official stuff
this gendarme is a gem!
glad the pup has arrived Ruby x
he came here exactly a year after the dog attack, just to check on my husband
thank you, witchy
sopunds like it, ruby...you are very fortunate...reminds of what happened to me years ago....
what happened?
youngest son, who was acomplete brat when younger....about 10 years old...once said he would report me for child abuse, to his teacher at school ( i had whacked him after a particularly trying session with him) mhe has O.D.D> and HADD
when i rang the local p[olice station, the sergeant said " in your case, madam, i would call it justifiable punishment" was so heartening to know i had the support at that time
children can be much more beastly than dogs! That is a bad story! I think a well-placed smack is very effective but I think that in France now, parents aren't allowed to smack their kids!
sounds like a sensible policeman
I don't think its allowed anywhere now unfortunately
there seemed to less juvinille trouble when a clip round the ear was allowed!
ditto here, ruby..they have forgotten the old adage, spare the rod, and spoil the child. kids today have no boundaries set by their parents ( well most of them, anyway) my second son, who is a parent twice over...if the 'naughty step' doesn't work, his kids get one good whack, adn are put into their respective rooms.
sorry spelling is awful today
lol, witchy, so true
didn't cause any long te4 damage for myself and 4 bros....apart from the odd twitch or two
just the threat usually worked after the first time!
sure did, all my father had to do was remove his belt, and five kids became as quiet and still as a mouse
mind you, he did do it in a very showy way....
morning all
picture five kids around a dinner table, all squabbling, then 'crack' as my father whipped his belt out from under the table...instant attention and instant obedience
hey button
hi granny

granny, one of my dreams is to visit your wonderful country
must do some housework now back for last 24 later
let me know when you're coming over, button. will gladly show ozland as an ozzie sees it. ( have a bottomless love of my homeland)
later, witchy. ttfn
thanks granny, I have a great respect for your country
button, one of the most wonderful things about babble-land is, you have friends all over the world.
I agree Granny, I have 22 left and will finish later, back to bed...enjoyed getting to know you better. I read the grid but do not enter the conversations to much...night
nite, button, sleep well.
and on that note, i will bid a fond adieu to any who are left...happy babbling....see you at the flip
Morning. Can't see the su7. Is it connected to a season?
yes it is connected to a season
Bizarre! Have the season but just can't see it. Help pls
su7 ... is an adjective describing the su6 which is a chemical element
thanks dose for su7....
sheila, I do not see the su7 connected to a season...it is the adj. of a chemical
Phew. Thanks!
... any time
i dont c it no matter what its connected to lol
Ivesy. Use letters in top 2 rows
... su6 ... chemical element having to do with fire and brimstone ... ... su7 ... adjective describing something which has lots of or is very like the su6
ahh finally ty all
Hooray!
da-da-da-da-da-da da rum bada bum. My favorite X-mas music.
holy cow batman! 66 words? LOL - Morning everyone
I don't know about fire and brimstone (having never smelled it) but I do connected the smell of matches to su6.

I think the show is great. I would like to have seen 3 different judges though. Adam Levine won, so I think they should have brought him back but then added 3 new ones.
66
Hi ouwachita! 66
thanks
and here is crossy,s tidbit of the day,and those who watch sienfeld will get a chuckle....
You can order a 6' aluminum Festivus pole for $39 from FestivusPoles.com. They promise a very high strength-to-weight ratio.
whee!
OMG! Too funny!
festivus..for the rest of us......
I surely am questioning some of the picks the judges made this season....I am not crazy about the quality and tone of some of the voices.
phone, bbl
Crossy...maybe we should host a Festivus day here in Babble Land...
lol, heaven help us if we did
Time for a break. Be back in a bit. Have a great day everyone! {{hugs}}
Hello kids.
howdy scwabby:)
hi Scrabbs, crossy, everyone
howdy aloy
ahh rosavelts stuffed toy is in here
Late arrival for me. I slept til 0850--heaven. I work tonight from 5:30-9.
TY, Cross. I see so little in this grid.
I saw five minutes of The Voice and it was enough to make me gag. Anything that involves Aguilera is not my cup of tea. Especially when she's rolling her eyes at people who are sincerely trying to win.
Hi All
Hi Molly & Hego
hi hego.. love your icon
and the wife wonders why i watch 40 min of tv a week max with crap like that on
and I'm ready for Molly's icon too.. bought some corned beef and cabbage
Fu6/36 as clued by Mollyl was fireworks for me BUT I can't find it in enable or the concise OED. However, I did find fummel (a hinny), a suggested word in enable which is in the grid but not allowed. Could someone please sing me a song to soothe my raddled nerves.
Congrats to Pat, congrats to Pat, congrats to Pat, you finished the grid! Ta-da!
Earlier, someone said fu6 was the plural of a cloud formation.
Oh Pat oh Mio, You did the griddo
Hi
Scrabbler. It finished me. I monkeyed the last word hundreds of times. OK maybe a bit less but my wrists hurt now boo hoo.
♪ I've got the world on a string ♫ I'm sittin' on a rainbow ♪ I've got that string around my finger ♫
my monkeys can't find the fu6, need more banana
lol
It might be a plral of a cloud formation in Spanish!!!
I'm not sure that I will spend time to finish this grid. One look at this grid and you know it cannot be fun.
fu6...a football player drops the ball, he ***bles + Lapus Laz*** is a blue stone
it does seem to have teeth
Moolyl, that was a beautiful clue. Indeed
wow, ty Molly.. no way I would have found that
Sorry Mollyl, told you my wrists hurt. I now have to go iron about 12 shirts so that should really hurt my wrists.
I don't know Lapus' surname. Never heard of it.
how about J***a Roberts, the movie star?
But Dr Google gave me the answer.
yay for google
phamtom "squire"
Like I said to Annie earlier, I wasn't sure how many were familiar with the blue Lapis stone.
I don't wear jewelry and never had my ears pierced. I am an oddity among women.
Uncle Remus is no phantom, just too proper for acceptance
I always wondered what you call a squire's wife.
no holes in your lobes? how do your relatives know what to give you for your b-day?
Books, books, books or gift cards for books.
ah so
At 34/32 I have had enough of this grid. I have lots to do before I work tonight. Enjoy the day and I will see you tomorrow morning.

im hoping hubby opened all the windows in the house when got home. i have grand master plans of doing more unpacking when i get home, but i want that gorgeous fresh air!
may have to make a detour over to the park. ;)
at least one detour, EvaN
It is a gorgeous day here Eva.
luckily, the park is literally right behind our house. lived there a whole week, and havent made time to visit it! not sure if there are swings (my personal fave!) but i know there is a basketball hoop!
You have the rest of your life to unpack, it's a rainy day activity. Go for that park!!
There is nothing like having a swing to make you feel young again.
you need breaks from unpacking... so take to the park :) And if need be, you can install a swing.
We are the doss-enablers!!
as the Germans say: Eile mit Weile... hurry up with breaks :)
we decided to have some people over next weekend for a pre-housewarming party. (the real housewarming will be when its REALLY warm!) the local ice cream joint gives out free cones that day if you wear your PJs, so we are having a PJ party game night!
oh how lovely!
lol I would have to buy a pyjama for that :D
My 11-year old just got su6,33 - I didn't see it at all and he is insisting that I inform my fellow Babblers. He's a lurker!!

i have what i refer to as my "comfy pants" i dont actually sleep in them, but they will pass for PJs!
but that means we need to get the house a little more unpacked for that. (i did that on purpose to light a fire under us to get off our rears!)
comfy pants rock :) I just received some clothes I ordered, also very comfy... first time in years that I buy something. So very nice :D
Bruster's is having PJ day again? Thanks for the heads up.

SummerBreeze, you have the right name for today!!! We are having very summery weather here in northern Illinois, and it is supposed to continue for the rest of the week. Setting records for March!
Almost have DUUMVIR in the grid. That's a random word
Same here in NH and it's wonderful! :)

Congrats xeiluj!! Small grids can be very mean.

I grew up going to the AMNH, smoove, and would be hard pressed to go home at night if I worked there :-)
Right now and for the next few weeks I'm working 12 hrs per day. It is a great place. Where do you live now? When was the last time you were there?
I live in Northern Illinois now, but grew up in New Jersey. It's been decades since I was there; would love to get back there some time!
It's really changed...improved. Visit online www.amnh.org
