-1536 since feb '11
it wasn't until after she had cannulated me, that i told her i was a critical care nurse...poor kid, she just about fell apart at the seams
rbud, so agree.
what's cannulating?
sticking th4 IV tube into a vein
ugh. I can't read that granny
th4s okay, ruru, i can't look at it. lol

ooo, ty ty
change the form of the word to an 8 also ruby
found that one right away but still no 7's -- brain is very slow this AM
da7 - plural of da6 bad guys
da6 is variant of one of satan's minions
ok, just got the other 9, it is a doozy, let me think how to clue it
starts with mo5 python
then ends in a prefix meaning stone minus the l
that is an mo8, then plural for the 9
sorry, suffix not prefix
sounds like monday's food choppers lol
hello vanilla
hi ruby and all just finishing... I hope
at least I have half
here is the definitions: a large punch bowl, usually of silver, having a notched rim for suspending punch cups. 2. Also called bonnet glass. a small stemless glass of the 18th century, having a bowl with a compoundly curved profile upon a broad foot.
I use the word everyday
only when you give a big party....
like so many words here are everyday lingo
I party every day
funny how when I monkey words its not a word but they come up with the weirdest
the word sounds very Upstairs Downstairs
like sa5 meaningbelonging to or consisting of those branches of the Indo-European family in which alveolar or palatal fricatives, as the sounds (s) or (sh), developed in ancient times from Proto-Indo-European palatal stops: the satem branches are Indo-Iranian, Armenian, Slavic, Baltic, and Albanian.
oh, ty, vanilla, I'll try to work that into my next dinner party (using the mo8, of course)
I use that one every day too.... are you not literate?
I like the palatal fricatives
the word fricative is fun!
the sa5 gave me the ta5
so coughing would be a fricative
sounds like a sub for cursing
88 words, nbs, but can't find the right-hand e, which is probably a fish
I may use a fricative!
like the ae8 and 9 but minus the a
hit me with a mackerel
smack
<-- smacked
h'mm, fish and fricatives are flying.. dare I enter?
the sound made by clicking with your tongue against your palate would be a palatal fricative...if you do it hard enough coz there has to be friction
down to 2
ah4 aloy!!!
hello aloy
ooh.. lol, needed that one! ty kje.. hi Babblers
clever kje!!!
I've been waiting for you so I could do that!
time to put some friction into my thinking and try to catch up with kje
kje, are you moving?
brains can melt... be careful vanilla
yes, I am moving west
hoping to strike gold in california
near the coast?
yep, SF
time to check in with himself. he's probably polishing the mo8
lol ruby
aha.. thusly your icon.. LOL ruby!

fireworks last word go5 the sex gland
I love Austin, but the climate is so awful
yay for vanilla
woooohooo vanilla!!!
yay, vanilla, congrats!!!!!
if one must be in TX, austin is best... I am in dallas
son and dil moved from austin bc of "cedar fever"...
but they loved austin
but the climate is terrible.
my son has that, too, he never had it in NY state or Florida
dil never ever had allergies.. cedar fever made her very ill
neither had he. I wonder what it is about cedar pollen that makes it so virulent
don't know.. when dil's parents came to visit they also became ill
99 and *poof*
it is apparently bad for about 4 mos of the year
see you later
time to cook dinner its near 5pm
I must go - any clues needed before i go?
bye, ruby..

Hello all
hi lyn :) xxx
How do I get added to list Sprite?
you can do it yourself, if you want, Flask. You can edit the list.
at the top, it should say "edit list"
or no, of course, it says "edit doc". Sorry, not at my brightest atm.
right E?
hello hurshy
hi
ok ty!
es7.32 & es8.50 - usually starts ae
ty lynxxx
thanks lyn
i find this a really hard grid. but then i am feeling sleepy and grumpy and maybe some other dwarves too. yeah a little bit sneezy, certainly dopey.
duh - and of course the ae!!! I was concentrating so much on the th bit
lol lyn, I was just trying that one.
hursh: call Doc.

Oh my, am scared to go and look in case I do something else!!!
dont get the beauty bit
Cool - it is to do with appreciating beauty/emotions
es + look over***re + nervous habit
Flask, don't be afraid, nothing can go wrong that cannot be easily fixed. :)
cool: that is for one of the 8s. Add an A at the beginning for the 9.
sprite the other nine is the same spelling but ae at begining
btw, Flask... beautiful name!
no, the other 9 must be M... it is driving me bananas.
Oh thanks!
the mo is 9/66
morning (or not... I notice not a lot of North American folks on chat right now :P)

evening viajes
hi Une
hi Une! Same for me!
hey, lynxxx :-)
it's 6:22am. I have no idea why I'm awake; it just happened.
ivesy, hi! Could you please clue the mo9 for me? It is driving me nuts.

i have the di8 es8 and the mo8 which one am i missing please
thank you lyn! That is a new one for me.
ae8
ae8 is a person who appreciates beauty
me too - won't forget now though - a pretty common object - although only seen at parties/weddings perhaps
just looked it up. A kind of ornamental bowl. Won't forget this one either. Pretty word.
we need to give a big party and use one!
hi Ruby
{{lynxx}}
{{sprite}}
is it spelt the same as the nine
.girl, are you still hee or back?
hi ruby :)
Hi ruby, cool, sprite, lynxxx
hi Bichon
{{bichon}}
cool: yes, only the ending is different. Replace the nervous habit for a cup of **a.
how's the puppy ruby?
hi bichon :)
Cool - there is an ae8/9 and es7/8 which are spelled the same except for the a
hi help with that ae dont get the beauty bit
(and don't forget the es- word that is the same)
our local resto, where they lost their little dog around then we lost Max, have gotten a new pup called a "cotton" (phonetic spelling), looks like a bichon but with floppy ears. Absolutely adorable
aestheti
sorry
Cool - just put a on the front of your es8
coton de Tulear. Yes, seen them in France
good, cool. Only change last vowel into another one
puppy boy is crazy, but smart and funny. Now, it is a question of controlling him a little
i have the nine its the 8 i cant get
ty, bichon
ah cute breed
is it similar to a bichon?
Do they have obedience classes where you are [for the dog, not the owerner]
cool, please read my posts.
Yes, it is similar. But you don't really see them in the US
how about for my husband?
has he calmed down, ruby?
not here, and they know nothing about chows!
actually ruby, their coat is more like a Maltese
he is a wonderful puppy, very smart and affectionate, and then 1% of the time, he intentionally bites me!
thanks sprite got it now my computers playing up so your posts are coming up slower than im writing
and only me
ah I see, I wondered about that. Glad you found it, cool
just like husband!
now to start the 7s havent seen any yet theres a lot of unusual words today
did husband calm down, ruby?
Life with a puppy, crazy great
<-- needs tranquilizer darts for puppy and husband
yeah, the biggies are tough today
lol Ruby
love dogs cant be without mine even when hes naughty
yesterday Rufie showed that he will be a great watch dog -- barked his head off when the handyman came
last try: has your husband calmed down, rubyfoo?
Hi all!

Mom, How nice..have a wonderful time
sounds like a good time is planned, Mom
I think it will be. She is 87, born and raised here. Had to move to Dayton where her son lives because of health issues. She had macular degeneration and can no longer drive
I am hoping that I can take her to see all of her friends while she is here.
how long will she be visiting?
You are a good friend, Mom. Hope you two have a great time.
:-) that I don't know.
her son and daughter in law are leaving for a cruise this morning
ah Molly how sweet of you to say
she is having to board her cat so I can't imagine it will be longer than a week
i bet all her friends are anxious to see her again. what a nice reunion for her
I think they will love to see her.
She was so active when she lived here. She was in several card clubs, did ceramics. Now she is just a shell of herself because she has no friends up there and it is always dreary in Dayton
Aw, that's sad. Sounds like this trip will brighten up her life. That's good.
What a good friend and person you are, Mom

and hi champ!
good morning!
ty Annie. great word.
Put the A in front and you have ae 8 and 9
I didn't think it worked without the first vowel, but apparently enable has other ideas.
didn't see that ty.
np!
Enable always has other ideas...lol
thanks, annie! nbs! (and here I was thinking the 9 couldn't build off the es8!)
right Annie
wait a cotton-pickin'-minute!...how'd you get there?
the ae 8 starts in the right column and ends in the left column, twisty
ok, gotta run, class in 20 minutes (love the end of the semester - NOT!!)

lili, I see you live in Durham, England. We live right next to Durham Connecticut. Most of the towns and cities in CT are named after places in England
Phew! Fireworks!
oh cool bichon, but i bet your durham doesn't have a castle or cathedral though...i know there are alot of english named towns in the U.S there's a newcastle i think and i lived in dover for a while and i know there is a dover in the U.S
yay! wtg sheila!!
Thx
i know when i type in durham for a postal address, it comes up quite a few times for the u.s,australia and other places
Many of the American cities and towns named for English towns are in what we call New England, most of which are the original American colonies.
oh right, thanks molly, i never knew that. my best friend's mother in law and sister in law live in new england, can't remember exactly where
lilliann.... My paternal grandmother came from Durham... born in a little town named Bishopton. I have a second cousin in Darlington and one in Red Marshall.
i've heard od bishopton but not sure where it is, i've never heard of red marshall and i definitely know darlington.will have to go look up the other two.was she young when she moved over to canada diane?
my bestest wee friend lives in Ushaw Moor.......
my other one lives in a lovely historic town in scotland.....
i've just looked them up diane and bishopton and red marshall are near stockton-on-tees which is near middlesborough
oh?
you, you fool!!
lololol.....I know.....was just pulling yer leg....silly moo!
she came here in early 1912.... I think she was 34 at the time ... My grandfather, to whom she was betrothed ( 9 years younger than her ) came to Alberta , Canada, first. He got established and then Grandma came out 2 years later and they were married the next week !!
so they will be what we call smoggies....because stocton and middlesborough are industrial towns and so loads of fumes and smog
never heard that term before lol !
what a lovely story diane. i wonder if anyone could understand her accent?!
Diane, that is amazing that you know so much about your ancestors.
newcastle are geordies, middlesborough are smoggie and sunderland are maccums
I find it very interesting Molly... and I am the eldest of my generation... both sides.
And the Scots are the best in the wurld!!!!...lolol
fireworks for flask!!!!
yay, sorry, i shouldn't have taken flask's limelight!!!
wtg flask!!, sorry hin :)
grandfather Murgatroyd was from Yorkshire ! Maternal grandparents were both born here in Canada, but greats were from Lincolnshire and one from Belfast ! ... so I have a weeee bit of Irish in me.
I would love to know more about my ancestors. The cousins who have done genealogy work are not very forthcoming about what they have found.
way to go Flask !
Aye, I knew I could see something golden in ye Diane.
:-))
apparently, one of my ancestors is a rich well known american now, but he is welsh, but i can't remember his name....
The Paddies are taking over the world!! Hello everybody, and Happy Friday :-)
Hi Soodle :-)
hi soodle :)
Hi Soodle
Hi Soodle....I can be a happy Paddie too!
i have it all written down somewhere. i got my mam to tell me all she knew about my family members so i can look them up and make a family tree
But Lilliann is right.....we are the best!!!!.....lol
:-) Molly - I love the quote in your profile. How very true.
i have some family apparently in canada, somewhere
i was only joking when i said it flask!!! :) saying that my great great grandmother was from scotland
ok...am outta here.....bye all.....(((lill)))..xxx
Bye Flask.
bye hin, tc and will chat later. go rest!xx
I have my mother's family tree back to about 1715, Leicester, England. The name was Brians, changed to Bryan somewhere in late 1700's early 1800.
I'm sure there are errors along the way, but it is so interesting !!
I read a lot about women fixated on their weight and weight loss, I thought that quote was a good balance (excuse the scale pun)
Oh Molly.... I love that quote too !!
just found out that, it was howardd hughes, which was my nan's cousin
*my great grandmother's cousin
oh my goodness !! LOL Very wealthy !
As I type, my 17yr old daughter & 4 friends are getting ready to go out. You should hear them.... My ass looks big, my hair is too curly/straight (delete as applicable), my boobs are too small, yadda yadda yadda. And they are so beautiful..... (shaking head sadly...)
hi all
help with i pls
and just found out loads of great information from my dad
Hi Peri... not got it yet.
he died in 1976... did you not receive your inheritance yet ???? ;-)
apparently he desighned jane russells bra for the film "outlaw" that he produced
help with e in right column pls
peri.... the i is just one little thing on the agenda
That IS sad Soodle. So many beautiful young girls see themselves as "defective" because they hold themselves up to impossible body images.
duh, ty diane
Youth! Utterly wasted on the young :-)
if i knew then what i know now, i would NEVER have nit-picked my body! i was so thin and healthy. i wish id kept up me activity and healthier eating!
It is Soodle. They have no idea that 30 years from now, they are going to look at pictures of themselves at this age and say "Damn! I was hot!"
peri.... the e's have to do with the person who studies makeup, manicuring,,, etc.
no 7's, 8's or 9's here.help pls
ok,ty diane, now need to know how to spell them
foundan es8 ty
and an ae9!ty
I "thought" I was a little chunky when I was married... Well... on our 50th wedding anniversary, my tiny, slim little granddaughter put on my wedding dress.... she had trouble zipping !! ... it put things into perspective !!
And now I must go and feed them......laters all. Hugs
for the es7, drop the ending of the 8 and just use another vowel
we actually talked about something like this in my WW meeting yesterday. we are all so overly-tough on ourselves -- WAY harder than we would be on anyone else! if we heard someone speaking to a loved one the way we speak to ourselves, we would step in!
I did, ty diane
:-) good !
I have 28 words remaining, but must go make some lunch. Have fun, everyone !
That is true Eva. The best thing you can do for yourself is to treat yourself like you would treat a good friend.
someone earlier said there was an mo8/9 any clues out there
apparently he went mad in the end and walked around naked and had his house covered in sheets so no germs could get in!! no, none of the family got anything as all his money was tied in his businesses and american lawyers got involved.howard got his money from my great great grand father who died and left his money to his brother who was howard hughes father and howard made more money from it. my dad's cousin's wife threw all papers into a fire and so there was no evidence of family so they were told by solicitors that they couldn't get anything!!
If you want to see a good movie about Howard Hughes, see "The Aviator"
is that the one that leonardo caprio played him as my dad has said he did a film on his life
Yes, and it's very good.
mo8/9 anyone?
i'll have to watch it.well that is my claim to fame! i've heard my mam talking about him but never knew he was that well known!!

No problem, Peri wannabe
good clue
why the hell does steve wilkos hav a talk show
Another great mystery of the cosmos
changed it to a few good men instead.
Excellent choice. I love it when Noah Wylie is on the stand and his answer is "Well, because he'd kick my butt, sir."
lol that was a good scene. jack was great as usual
what show is this Molly?
We're talking about the movie "A Few Good Men", Bich.
I've seen that, years ago
really dislike jack nicholson but he is good in this
I don't care for Nicholson, Cruise or Moore, but I can handle them all in that movie. It's a classic.
agreed.
cos, did you see him in "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest?"
yes love that movie too.
I think he's had some great roles.
he does but i do not like how he treated Anjelica Huston
but that's a script, not him as an actor
he, as a person, cheated and tossed Anjelica to the side but he as an actor is incredibly talented
And "The Shining"
witches of eastwick and batman too.
"he Last Detail"
never heard of that one
"Prizzi's Honor"
Jack Nicholson is a Navy Noncom charged with bringing a hapless prisioner to the brig in Portsmouth NH.
LOVE that movie. Anjelica won an oscar for it :)
As actors go, he's had his share of great roles
he and meryl streep are probably my generation's version of bogart and hepburn
Sticks fingers in ears, says LA LA LA, and pretends she did not hear Cos say that about Streep
lol at least she isn't julia roberts ugh
what do you man Molly? They are not a match up in movies together
<---Not a Streep fan
Molly, we are such polar opposites in move choices
Did you ever see her in "Doubt"
Doubt was good. viola davis was the better actress in it though
Streep had a much bigger role and both terrific.
I thought Doubt was a great movie. I think Streep over acts, all the time.
bbl
she does tend to do that -- i only said what i said as in -- very respected actress. royalty.... im not her biggest fan
<--- went to high school with Meryl Streep
I can't think of anyone I would compare Hepburn to. I have a great reverence for her.
Cool claim to fame Sue : )
<--- went to the same high school as Marlee Matlin althogh she graduated before I went
and hi sue
It was a pretty small school so I actually knew her; she was a year ahead of me
and hi, cos and molly :-)
I liked Marlee Matlin in "Children Of A Lesser God". I also liked her role on "Pickett Fences".
her best role was on west wing. she is currently on ABCFAM's switched at birth
<--ive met her a few times. we know the same people in chicago. shs a very pleasant person.
st7 lease?
fun news: i was just banned from making cmments on sarah palin's fb page :) i feel special

Anyone need clues?
YAY bichon

I wouldn't know where to start asking for clues
but thanks anyway
Hey, phantom Ag**y and Ecstasy!
hey kaplan
sup?
How is your hip, Kap?
Lousy.
I wonder if it will get better soon, or what I have to do.
How come I am even at the stage of life whee "how's your hip?" is a relevant question. hat am I- 85?
It's so unfair.
and what's wrong with 85?? more importantly, what happened to your hip, kaplan --
Do stretching exercises help at all?
85 is not so good when you're still in yr 50s.
In the middle of a flareup I think I am supposed to rest it. I iced it.
ah, yes -- rest, ice... do you take anti inflammatories? I can't any more, but they used to help a lot.
But I really hate it when I miss my gym class on Friday. Till this year I was going 5 times a week, now I'm lucky if I do 3.
I took alleve in the morning. But I think I need more.
Kvetching.
this is a long-term issue? have you noticed anything in particular that triggers it? -- my hip sometimes just pops out for no reason, but I definitely have identified a few things that always pop it out.
Kvetching is good, it purges you. : )
I don't know. It seems to be becoming chronic but I don't know if there are triggers. It's osteoarthritis, suck it up I guess.
hello again :)
And kvetching clears out your genecktecessoink. No big whoop. : )
I think I will have to start going back to spinning classes- zumba has become aa no-no.
te 7, please?
Some advice says to rest, others say to be active.
that's rough, kaplan -- docs can only do so much with osteoarthritis, but there are some things they can do. What does your actual doctor say to do?
This is what my parents told me would happen.
te7...Dick Tracy is a de***tive + not loose, spelled differently
te7 security pro****s you and not loose
I am due for an annual. I went to PT which is frustrating. I have neck exercises and thumb joint exercises.
It may be that a good physical therapist could give you specific exercises to strengthen support muscles -- relieve some of the wear on the joint. Sometimes just fixing mechanics can help (but of course only so far, depending on the actual loss of cartilage and bone)
ty lynxxx
I think I do most of those exercises in the gym anyway- squats and lunges and abductor raises and all that.
*!* ta da *!* - really tough!
Ah, as usual.
YAY nan!
Congrats C'nan - an yes it is!
lots of projects on the go, so can't hang around -- see you at the flip :)
I really think this is a "suck it up" situation. But I don't see my friends staggering when they walk.
Thanks for listening.
Any time Kap.
I am thinking about more specific exercises that help align the joint properly. I had someone many years ago give me some very specific things to do for a knee that was troublesome due to the usual female structures, and it helped. It was strengthening the exact muscles to line up the joint and kneecap in a particular way. Good luck with it, kaplan.
We just need to get you on the Joint Guard I have my dog on Kap, done wonders for him
yes, lynxxx! exoskeletons for all! Mine will be pink with sparkles, and phosphorescent racing stripes *wicked mama grin*
really Stid - female structure? I have that problem too. I do probably the same excercise
women's hip's tend to have a wide angle, so our thigh bones enter the knee at an angle that wears the kneecap and joint strangely. Strengthening the muscles to hold the kneecap in position and re-align the ends of the bones slightly worked for me.
Thanks - copying that.
I see Inge on line. If anyone is with her, who can read for her, please tell her we miss her very much.
definitely check with a physical therapist or other medical professional, though! We are all so different, your exercise needs might be different from mine.
ditto molly's comment re inge...
well, down below 60. need to go take a few minutes with the dog in the yard between raindrops. *poof*
Have done all that, xray, specialist, physio - couldn't walk without pain several years ago. Physio go me back to normal, do the excercise when I feel twinges.
The ankle bone's connected to the knee bone, etc.
Is it bad when it tingles down to your foot?
googling symptoms- brb
You should probably go to GP and see what he/she says b4 you continue vigorous exercise - sometimes that can aggrevate
True.
There are lots of oral medicines for joint pain now...Glucosamine very common here...really make a difference. And seriously you wouldn't believe the diff in my greyhound, limping badly on and off for a couple of years, now on a shellfix mix (inluding gluco above), hasn't limped since he started on it. Of course if you have dodgy hips in yr family, surgery may be the answer - but that operation is a pushover nowadays - my FIL had 3 done from ages 60-89!
Your fil had 3 hips??
one was redone after many years - early ones were plastic
lol. I knew that. : )
Hi Lyn
hello cheeky

di5.18 is a new one for me - means snobby

Happiness in the chog!
srenity even.
seriously, I'm getting more wine.
God grant me the serenity to accept the wine I cannot change, the courage to drink the wine I can and the wisdom to know the difference.
virtual wine is good up to a point.

<---Was just struck by an AA bolt of lightning
Oh, my!!

I should not bid on fountain pens on e-bay when I am in a frustrated mood.
I did when I saw it...cute!
Reminder to self.
Trying to monkey last word...to6/21
It's like Victorious Egret, but that one doesn't belong to me.
And I misread something that said polar express the other day- I saw Bipolar Express.
I misread things all the time!
I have pronounced misled as misled.
As in pt of misle.
Don't misle me. Ah, you misled me, etc etc.
I have read "greats" as rhyming with---oh-oh- PB!
Epitome. I read it as epi-TOME. Moron!
Fireworks!
I really want an Esterbrook pen.
congrats, champ!
yeah, congrats!
Thx Uni. Clues anyone?

Congrats, Champ!!!!!
Congrats, Unea!!!!!
Ebay can be evil.
I don't usually do it, but in the last couple of weeks, I have discovered the rush of bidding in the last 10 seconds. I think I need to steer clear of this.
Thank goodness my stakes are small. But I understand gamblers a teeny bit.
Is mo5-12 the guitarist Richards? Thanks
I just picked up a few fountain pens is all. I hope someone outbids me tonight on the last one. I need to stop. I am getting like my father was when he was losing it.
One of the last purchases he made before he died was an ancient (of course) Roman coin for $700. And that was before e-bay.
mo5 is Mo*** Hall of Let's Make A Deal
I have recently spent perhaps $150.
That's enough
Obviously none of you are addictive people so you can't relate.
Or Mo** Blanc + a vowel
He spelled it with a y. Door Number 3!
Thanks so much, tor.
Speaking of Mo** Blanc, my dad had one of their pens and it could be worth a couple hundred or more- if it's not a counterfeit.
I might sell it.
None of you are into fountain pens.
Oh, well.
May I please have a clue for mo8-50? Thanks
Add K**** to the blanc word
sorry, that should be K**** Richards
must run. (poof)
Thanks much, gwenski.
my uncle gave my son and me atlanta oplympic mo*** blanc pens

Maybe people are getting their chow ..
good evening e1 gl:)
Heya Alt ..
back to finish. wow only one third of the way. darn. i dont do list till half way.
anyone on the chat?
hi mkg.....:)
hi alta. any clues for the 8s or 9s?
no sorry:( just started and no where near any 8's or 9's! and I'm new at this, so it takes me forever
have enough trouble with 4 letter words!
mo...sounds kinda like english show mo*** python circus.....
expand on the mo5/12 befor then pl it
mkg, the only 8 I have is ae 8/45; same as the es 7/32 which is a person who focuses on the "pretty" quality of things (a simplified explanation, Oscar Wilde was one of these people)
ending is like rolling stones K**** richards
ae8/45 = an arty farty person. ae9/66 = pertaining to beauty and sensitivity. de8/50 = pertaining to the use of food. es8.50 = same as ae9. mo8 and plural 9 = a punch bowl - the sort with hooks around it for cups to hang on.
hey Mpitt and alta
ty stidma!
hi there stidmama
ha! and Jac! I can retire now, you're all in good hands!
Stid - don't you dare! I only popped in for a moment!
that's a di 8/50 actually...
and thanks!
lol
stid's right - the food one is a di8.
oooh --- I never knew punch bowls had an ae 9 name! *wicked mama grin*
that's all the 8s and 9s for me, first time in a while, thanks Jac
shaddupayourface! Stid. LOLxxx
y/w re the clues, stid.
how are you doing jac? never see you anymore
I'm okay thanks, stid. Might be brighter news on the job front soon. How are you?
same -- teaching jobs for next year are beginning to open up, so far only a few that I am qualified for in commuting range, but hopeful I will land a good "first job" in the next 6 months or so.
I hope so, too, stid.
are you looking for writing work, jac?
stid - I have to make the writing work myself, but it's coming. I accidentally signed up for an agency in Birmingham Alabama, not realising it wasn't Birmingham UK at the time. If I lived in Alabama it seems there would be opportunities galore, given the amount of stuff the site keeps sending me, even though I have said, 'take me off your list, I made a mistake'.
Beloved has has 2 possible job offers (he's a trucker) and they came within a couple of hours of each other after months of zilch! Life is strange!
*gasp of embarassment* I didn't know there was a Birmingham in the UK! that would be a bit of a commute for you, though!
stid - Birmingham UK is the second city (capital city) after London!
oh, I hope he gets a job he likes, I didn't know he was out of work
Many place names in the USA and Canada are the same as ones in UK. The pilgrims who went to the 'New World' often named places after where they came from.
I know Jacula, but we don't hear about places other than London, or sometimes Edinburgh (which I think some folks think is next door to London), and occasionally Liverpool if they are talking about the Beatles. *I* know of more places, but had completely forgotten your Birmingham. I am glad you reminded me.
yes, my ancestors in New London Connecticut, for example...
Stid - me, my son and my Beloved all got made redundant within a month of one and other.
Almost 9 months with no work for all of us now!
well that's just crap, Jacula. *very annoyed mama look* don't they know you need money to pay rent and such?
stid - they know but they don't care.
corporations can be real poopy-heads.
Actually, we don't pay 'rent', since we own our house. Ours is a mortgage and it's almost finished. However, the running costs of a household cost more than the mortgage payments.
that is very true, Jacula -- we have mortgage, food, utilities, gasoline (we live outside town so rely on personal transport -- no buses), etc etc etc. And Tom's income keeps going down and everything (except the mortgage) keeps going up. And my income barely pays my student loans. We are NOT getting ahead in anything.
stid - I think it's the same the world over and much worse in some countries than it is for those of us in the 'developed' world.
**international hugs across the pond**
But I doubt the balance of haves and havenots will ever change, and I doubt that the plight of those in need in underdeveloped countries that have corrupt governments will ever change.
((Hugs)) stid back.x
Anyone need any quick grid clues before I go?
I fear our species is well embedded in those dynamics, Jac -- but I perhaps naively still hope that things can improve in the long run.
well, I am down to 36...
but Lucky wants me to stop playing and start playing...
stid - a fear you are right about the embedment (if there is such a word!) but we can but hope.
15 minute window for clues now. Ready, steady, ask!
Oops! Almost gave a grid word away in that last post. LOL
stid - who is Lucky and what does he/she/it want you to play?
to6/21 clue - a bird. (Or try the name of one of Stid's family + a bosom.)
ti5.12 and ty5.16 = a tenth part of produce or money usually paid to the church.
6 more minutes to ask for clues...
ti5.14 = the offspring of a tiger daddy and a lion mummy.
hi, jac!
sy6.24 = you might have a sy6 for doing the grid - it's your method of doing it.
Hi Sue!
thanks for the clues!
Just giving random, think people might need these, clues whilst passing the time before I leave.
sorry Jac and all -- neighbor came to the door. Back in a few ...
hi stid!
y/w Sue. Anything specific needed?
didn't understand the mo8 clue
(I can picture the thing but don't know what it is called)
those 6s were great!!!
that mo 8 looks like an American surname...
maybe think French "mon" + misspell the ivories in your mouth?
sue - it's an anagram of 'thin mote'.
good clue, Stid!
oh, clever Jac!
ok, got it, thanks! never heard the word...
sue - don't forget the plural (usual ending)!
so Lucky is my dog, and he is very clingy today -- I think my being sick today and taking a long nap in the afternoon after being gone all morning made him anxious
right, got that too
stid - dogs are like that. So are cats, but only if you miss their meal time.
and Lucky wants me to play "earth ball" which is a large synthetic rubber ball with a textured surface like the earth
Dogs are much more concerned about how we can have fun with them as opposed to what we 'should' do for them.
definitely, Jac -- he thinks it would be lovely to play fetch ALL day long. Even when he is completely lame (bad hips) after only a half hour of hard play
Right! It's past the time that I should go again. Time I went. Nice talking but I must go now. xxx
evening all
sweet dreams dear Jac
hey jes!
bye jac, and hi jes!
how's everyone tonight?
so... today's veterinary lesson for the day is that budgie beaks are SHARP! AND they don't like to have strings untangled from around their toes. (But it really had to be done)
just got a very nice award at the university, so I am happy :-)
also, they aim for the corners of your fingernails, or your cuticles. :D
and yes, we removed the item with the dangerous string from the cage
yay sue!
actually, Apollo was aiming for the space between the fingers -- assume it has a fancy name, the webbed area.
YAY sue indeed!
:-)
for which of your wonderfulnesses were you awarded?
(inquiring minds want to know)
service to the LGBT community on campus (I was the faculty advisor to the student group for almost 10 years)
I put a photo of the plaque on Facebook...
excellent! :)
i'll thank you for that too
pretty cool :-)
Sue, good for you! I am very pleased you have been there for the young people!
is ae8 related to ae4?
they only award one of these each year (well, one faculty/staff/alum and one student)
who was Eychaner?
no, jes, but it is related to es7
no jes
Howard and Millie Eyechaner were a local couple who were very vocal in their support of the LGBT community, including their children
and the ae 9 is the adverb of the ae 8
ah, I see sue --
they famously went to their church's annual convention in Kentucky back in the 1970s with a sign saying "proud of our gay and non-gay children"
thanks, found the es :)
and both ae
they had business cards made up with that slogan and handed them out to everyone - I think they were instrumental in the founding of PFLAG nationally (certainly locally they were)
there are two es, along with the two ae...
indeed, thankee!
so Enable takes ga4/6 but not goeth?
Good evening Babblers.
Congratulations Sue, on your award.
hello all, wht, jesdraggon uusue...have had a few weeks off babble.
yes congrats sue.... and i tried goeth.. idk why it didnt take
hi wht, jilly, cos :)
Hey uusue, we have a local chapter of PFLAG here...were part of founding it..good for you!! Hi cosdem!
hi jilly, jes, wht and sue
nice jilly!
PFLAG saved me when i was 16... seriously. i am forever in their debt
hi wht, jilly, cos!
What's a pflag?
the vice pres of the schamburg/arlington heights PFLAG gave me a home in her house.. even tho she just met me that day
Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (was started by a group of parents in support of their children)
Parents and friends of LGBT
pflag= parents, friends/family of lesbians and gays
parents and family...nm, cos beat me to it
and jilly. and sue. da4, i'm slow today.
they're generally the most popular group in the pride parades.
no, we're just fast, jes :-)
sorry, I wandered off again.
hehe
LOL, really Cos...here we're regarded as subversive..just sat thru 2 school board meetings trying to add gender choice to anti-bullying
how did that go?
I should wander off officially -- many dishes to do.
(((stidddy)))
aww, bye stid *waves*
bye, stid!
Had every right-wing fundamentalist in the area attending....
ill brb i have to go shav
Good Night, stid
niters stid
Fireworks.
and you refrained from violence, jilly? proudness!
WooT WooT wooT wht!!
yay wht!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
yay wht!
Good for you Jilly. Were you successful?
It was hard to hold my tongue as they accused us of "ulterior motives"...guess we're trying to make the whole world gay....
because clearly if i can have a wife, that will instantly force everyone else on Earth to become gay, whether they want to or not, yeah? bah
Yeah, like they don't have any ulterior motives.
they're out to save our souls...don't you know?
and in the name of saving our souls, God will overlook any amount of their hipocrasy.
And they want the government to help do it. No understanding about why we don't have an established religion in the US.
We had one young man, a gay senior in high school who has bravely shared his story, he is well respected by his peers and his story had an impact...but in the end the board refused to add gender language to policy...and one board member has a gay son...for SHAME!!
did that board member vote for or against, jilly?
Jes, it is amazing that my wife and I have been able to stay married these 30 years what with a married lesbian couple right across the street. ;^)
shocking wht!
hahah. truly, wht! it's astounding that they haven't kidnapped your wife and inducted her into their wicked coven of lust!
ROFL with WHT...yep, 32 years married..one straight son and one gay son...wherever did we go wrong...
u do realize you get a free toaster if you let them convert ur wife?
32
go cos!!
darn, you mean I missed out on the toaster???
didnt mean tot ype in 32.. my cat did lol
Well, if they are trying to do that, they take a very subtle approach. They ask her to feed their cats when they are gone.
The biggest argument? That it is a choice to be gay...dear God!! Dark ages here...
fireworks!
yay hokie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!
yay hokie!
(and cute bunny, hokie)
lol its rididculous. they think i chose to be gay, i chose to be kicked out, i chose to drop out of HS... and wtg hokie
Just ask them when they chose to be straight, Jilly.
Wtg hokie
I have a poster on the wall of my office with a photo of a bunch of kids, it says "when did you choose to be straight?"
Nice wht!
and snap, wht!
WooT WooT WooT hokie!!
that's easy, wht. they chose to be straight because it's 1: what god wants or 2: natural.
see --- being gay is being accepted more and more.. so now theyre going after women
people who think it's a choice honestly don't grasp that the whole "natural" argument is flawed six ways to sunday.
yup. you chose it cos, just to rebel. you'll grow out of it, and settle down, raise a nice family with 3 kids.
lol i better hurry then.. just turned 33... my dad was younger than i am when i was born
wow that was the first time i called myself 33
And boy do these bible thumpers feel threatened...they don't want their kids exposed to this...guess God had a plan giving us the gay son ...god help the poor boy or girl if they were born into their family!!
my childhood catholic priest wrote in his weekly newslettter a few months ago that he will not tolerate gay bashing in his parish
these who do will be asked to leave the church
Nice ownership cos!!...I'll be 54 on Monday...I earned these years...proud of who I am now!! Age does NOT matter!!
sad thing is, jilly, there probably is at least 1 or 2 kids in those families, they're just too scared to speak up for fear of their family's reaction
Nice Cos, my parish priest is very supportive as well....
*shudders at thought*
the more religious a family is -- the more likely they will have a gay child.
It still was hard for our youngest to come out to us...imagine how horrific...
it's usually lesbians though
SOOO happy to have had my family; my mom told me that it was none of her business who i date, as long as I'm happy and they don't abuse me.
good for ur mom
Amen jes!
my mom disowned me for years,,, then my aunt and grandma and sister in law finally talked her into sense.
at least she came around eventually, cos.
now my mom loves ryan lol.. however my sister in law has been born again and thinks i live in sin. weird twist
((cos))
That must have been hard, cos.
it was.. was homeless so i couch surfed til i met that pflag lady
BUT i got to travel to 30 states... met a lot of friends :)
I think one of my nephews is gay with a very right wing father...I just try to let him know I care...
Offer to foster your nephew for a summer (or a school year)?
can't understand parents disowning their children - my son is in and out of an abusive relationship that makes me unhappy - I won't have her in my house due to damage she has caused - but I would never disown him (although if he decides to keep her in his life I will only meet her on neutral ground until/unless she apologizes - very different situation, though!!!)
thats a good plan sue.. sad though
gotta run.. im late bye all
((uusue)) I watched my straight son marry very wrong to a very destructive emotionally and verbally abusive women...I share your pain, but I too would NEVER abandon my sons no matter what!
bye, cos *wave*
Niters cos...
gnight, cos
night, cos!
I also live in a really small, rural town... and I'm frequently surprised by how many gay clients i have.
I will give a shout out to the teens here, what a change in the 7 years since our youngest (gay) one graduated. The teens now are vastly more accepting. But I still have nights at youth ministry when I have to call someone out for using "that's so gay"....
yes, the young people really give me hope (at least a lot of them do...)

di4/5 + et4/5, in fact
not getting it. wow i am tired.
got it! ty
how did you insult the kid?
ah well, adolescents (and recent adolescents) are much too easy to insult...
et six plesae?
et + sometimes vowel + round thing in my icon (without doubled vowel)
et6 is the older word from which a newer word or phrase derives.
apparently by asking him to clarify something he was saying so I would better understand him. That usually does the trick. The other way to chase him off is to suggest a different interpretation of a point of law in a field I understand. He relaly hates that....
stid, i lived through six adolescents and wow i am glad it is over.
heh. you wouldn't think saying "i don't get it, please explain" would be insulting...
ok, with 38 left I have gone to expert, maybe I can finish this one!

go sue go!

NVM, has to be upper *thinking*
comes from the left column e, and goes down.
stid, trust me you are. i now know that they were suffering and the pain of them finding who they are and living through those years when you feel so inferior even if you are a popular kid, is terrible.
Got it! LOL thanks jes

is the st7 related to st5/14?
i am trying to still find that et word. still need a nice clue please please please.

My heart knows that, mkg, thanks. I also know the one who is home tonight has additional challenges and may not be able to make the transition fully -- while being aware that everyone else is. My heart breaks, but it doesn't make the rancor easier.
