I've had ostrich at a local gourmet restaurant, run by a guy from Finland
i've heard a piece of salmon referred to as salmon steak -- i thought it just meant a hunk o' meat (?)

I'd better get crackin'
2nd S in 2nd col anyone?

love your lilies of the valley, west!
google images jilli..my real ones haven't bloomed yet..it's cold
oh, i visited the Herndon Fortnightly Library in Herndon, VA today. BEAUTIFUL building inside and out. It was founded by the Herndon Ladies Fortnightly Book Club over a century ago.
they're your flower jilli
one May Day, when I was teaching at Berlitz in Paris, a student brought me a whole bucket of lily of the valley from her country home . . . magical
same here, west -- very chilly spring.
what a sweet name seain
how lovely une
very HOT spring here -- 90 all week . . . ugh
une that does sound magical
sounds lovely dc
it hit 86 here today, une, and we're expecting 90s the rest of the week, too.
breaking records left and right . . . don't EVER remember seeing magnolias in full bloom in APRIL!
warm here, too, but not that warm... and gray, cloudy and rainy ick ick
the library is lovely -- right in old town Herndon, and nestled along the now-former railroad that is a hike/bike/horse trail now.
how delightful, seain!
tr7. shoulda come in poetry month!
ours bloomed in March here, une. And the deciduous magnolias bloomed in February!
so cool... our daughter was married in the Indy library... in the Simone Reading Room; it was lovely
and dee... I have the same four 8s.
are those the "star magnolias"?
sounds nice, Dee :)
how are the young married dee?
dc, the pics I have on FB are from there... I think it is now called the Indianpolis Central Library...
cute as a button, west
do they love your new house?
sure do...
put a rose in my teeth..I found the dance
they made a very quick trip to see it (just overnight) but glad they could do that
in Indy they connected their two old building with a gorgeous 2 or 3 story atrium... gorgeous reception / party room and beautiful to see all the city lights at night
that's so nice dee
no, une, ours are like the first one on this page: http://tinyurl.com/87tha9m
ty west missed that dance lol
still missing that last 8

gogeous magnolias, dc -- they're just over here now.
wow new word that go 7
ooh love magnolias!
yes, dee. for me, too
we also have magnolia grandiflora here -- commonly called Southern Magnolia in the US.
means boy or lad hmmm
ooohhh, seain, i call those japanese magnolias :-)
dc are you in VA or MD?
VA, about 18 miles W of DC
i'm in MD often, though -- have many friends there.
90 to go and calling it a night -- great to see soooo many long-time Babblers! *poof*
I adore VA flowers... my brother did his residency in Lynchburg and then lived in Colonial Beach for several years
sweet dreams, une
sweet sleep une
colonial beach very similar to here, lynchburg good bit different flora-wise, though not completely foreign.
Colonial Beach was really lovely; I missed visiting him there when he moved to PA
back, did anyone else have red boxes, then lose babble completely?
wd une!
how are you coming with your tests and licenses, dc?
not yet tonight, flosey
tks dc
waiting for next testing session for license. sigh. so close.
not me, flosey
you will do well, I am sure
keep reviewing seain
thanks jilli, perhaps just have too much on this old computer - time for a new one
btw sammysmom mentioned fiddleheads earlier - what are they?
ty, dee. and i have been, west :) not least because test covers things we don't use in VA, like the NW Ordinance Coordinate system.
baby ferns that are delicious, dee
and then they grow and take over half the yard
ty, have never heard of them
maybe, flosey -- it's not our ISP because we have the same one
what is the NW Ord sys?
I LOVE fiddleheads -- hard to find here
clear out your cache and cookies flosey, may stop that
thanks Dee, will do that later
how do you prepare them? I have never ever heard of them.
ai7
the County/Township/Section thing yall have in OH, IN, IL, WI, MI, MN by federal mandate, and which spread West with settlers to many esp plains states.
very light fry in some oil with garlic, maybe a squirt of lemon or lime juice, some salt and pepper is how we've always eaten them.
awww didn't remember what it is called... really makes little sense... was it set up for taxation purposes?
like spinach
land allotment, taxation, and school purposes.
I just do them in the microwave - they taste like a combination of asparagus and spinach, imho.
yes, rather, dee. Some people grill them, but i've never tried that.
our libraries are based on the townships here... which is based on taxation
that's an apt description of the flavor, jilli
very interesting... fiddleheads... cute name
everything here is by the County or City, depending on which you live in.
describes their shape when they're right for eating, dee :)
I like your way of doing them, dc! But I'm lazy. I do gfive them a squirt of lemon, though.
very cool
speaking of new things... someone in our area was bitten by a brown spider yesterday... we have never had them here before... scary...
140 down -- crashing - see you tomrrow :)
oh found the co 9
brown recluse? they're very poisonous.
go, ruru, go :)
been trying to grow those darn ferns in a spot in my yard for three years now, I love having a big patch of them - first year, hubby mowed them, second, cats rolled on them - this year's looking good so far!
may the cats stay away this year, rbud
yes... guy was just taken to a burn / wound center today because the skin around the bite is literally sloughing off...
hi ru
yes.. brown recluse
it's a nasty bite..like a black widow
brb going to google them
early treatment does wonders, glad he's gotten to medical care
I have some nice plastic sticks in amongst them now, not so comfy for the puddies
well done, rbud
wow shaped like an apostrophe... alll curly
plant some catnip for them elsewhere, they'll leave your ferns alone then :)
oooh, wonderful idea!
dreamer
now they'll be stoned and roll in the plants
but you're not the only one, ruru
but, they'll only roll in the catnip
and you'll have catnip for tea on hand :)
cats will destroy whatever you don't want them to touch
very much like mothers in law
lol ru
didn't know you could drink catnip tea
*sends dee some real brownies*
lol believe it or not I have never had "fun" brownies either
<---had lots of fun brownies in his day
too old for that crap now
ar 7 x 2
lol
not a willie wannabe
we used to make "fun" candies instead, very yummy, a lot like tootsie rolls - boy was that a long time ago. I feel so old...
lol
I know what paralysis is from brownies
well, beddy-bye time for me
got in trouble once for taking some over to a boyfriend's house, his little gray-haired mom was about to try one, he had to stop her, she wanted to know where the heck they came from - I was no longer welcome around the place, sigh... and yet the bf was the one who invented the recipe, lol!
au revoir DC

I also ran the organic food-buying cooperative, btw, for 6 years - 150 nuts gathering once a month to split up a giant order of organic bulk-sized foods into everyone's orders... I miss that.
I've run out of steam as usual these days but before I g0-- I understand those fiddleheads are not for any old ferns -- should be Ostrich Ferns.
it was fun.
bet that was interesting
old home on the grains
I'll have to read up on fiddleheads... interesting
yes, it was, lots of rich folks in the coop - we met at their houses often to divide the orders up, got to see some fantastic homes.
I think you can eat fiddleheads
yes, ruru
ir 7
wow, those sure look like the ferns I'm trying to grow, no idea what mine really are, got a bucket of them from a friend who has no idea either.
will they keep you as fit as a fiddle jilli?
or do you say viola when they're ready to eat?
lol
I bow to you, ru
lol
maybe eat them with some lemoncello?
you're just stringing us along, ru
LOL
that resin-ates with me jilli
thinking there ought to be something I can throw out here to do with catgut and fiddles, since I have this kitty/fern problem, lol
but not gonna go there
rats, gonna not a word, lol, made me look!
if one can be an no 6/18, why can't they be a go 6?
good point, Dee, I know plenty of go6's!
ditto that

Morning Kazzer.
shame it didn;t ave a few 0000s after it Kaz

Hey, sure... any win is better than a punch in the nose that's for sure.

hello all, * out of lurk mode *, yay me, found the 9's without list or clues. but, boy is my brain gone into overload
Hi grannyrose!
well done grannyrose
You didn't answer my last email... and I sent another out today, did you see it?
very impressive, rose! and hello
neil, maaate. how are you?
huh, neil, did check yesterday, book email only, was there one after that?
Well thanks... and you? Just asked you something there.
hi ruby, my dear, how are you?
Book email?
No, I answered your last from the other night, but got no reply to that one.
okay, brb, logging into emails
Then I sent out one today that you should've received... may be in your spam folder?
rainiing again! it is a constant battle against muddy paw prints but it's as green (or even greener) than Ireland
the one about stephen king's book....good read
It has some links in it to all of the clips I put online from Thursday night. I'm sure you'll enjoy them. :) Oh and you too Ruby.
neil, only logged in about an hour ago, and went straight to babble. ( i know, naughty me)
It has some links in it to all of the clips I put online from Thursday night. I'm sure you'll enjoy them. :)
just had a look, neil, can't wait to view them....
btw, have finally given up all hope of himself doing anything constructive in the garden. have hired a landscaper/gardener friend to do the work. my back garden is a quagmire. he has spent most of today removing all the buttercups, dandelions and buffalo grass from the top layer of soil.
we did that last year granny and now it has inspired the hubby to get out there and do some stuff
You'll enjoy them Rose.
plan is to put down a layer of fine gravel/stone, compact it, and in the process create my garden again.the whole area went to pot, so to speak, when i could not any longer get down to weed, let al5 mow/slash/prune.
Did you see my reply to your last from the other night?
my husband refuses to learn the diff between weeds and good plants, so I don't let him into the flower beds
Haha, ruby! Don't blame you.
yes thanx neil
hubby has decided that he wants to grow veg but I can grow whatever flowers i like in the rest of the space
i want to create monet's garden with an australian slant to it
the handyman does the potager: just tomatoes, strawberries and raspberries
I wish I had a back yard I could plant a garden in... one day, one day.
would you like to see garden photos, rose?
oh, yes, please ruby, send 'em on , girl, send 'em on
(and yr pkg will be mailed tomorrow)
relie
whoops, and on that noe, I had better get dressed
this guy is trying to save my roses, i had over 20 varieties.....lost amongst the buffalo grass, blackberries and buttercups.
ours was so bad we just had the lot cleared and started again
i could weep, then i remind myself that there are more important things in life...
http://tinyurl.com/Stats-05022012
well all have a good day and I will probe be back tonight
thanx neil, will talk so4
Not that they're needed I guess, because despite my being here and spending time doing that, someone else posted a list... which is a bit of a mess.
Someone who has taken to doing it even when I'm here, and even though I already do it whenever I'm here... so I guess mine isn't really needed?
Oh well... good night.
depends neil, your list make sense, sometimes a list is posted which more exhausting than the gris
Neil, don't be soooo negative...(but then that is your name) Any list is muchly appreciated, especially when Licketty is unavailable.

Thanks Car, I think we are slowly on the mend.
I am glad to hear that. It sounds like it just settles in and hangs on. Keep getting better!!!!1

oh and chicken pot pie days
very fortunate...FOOD is good
after books, tuition and if you were very, very ;ucky and actually on campus in one of those closet sized rooms whith some room mate you hate...kraft dinner and ramen noodles or whatever you could radiate in the small microwave by your bed were the order of the day
any clues needed before I go?
The kids on the meal plan do eat well but sometimes by now they've run out of funds
that and a crate of clemintines to keep scurvy away
you could clue that te7 you requested earlier :)

hi Brandyjack haven't seen you in a while
Can't figure out my ICQ password....
people still use ICQ? :)
i don't have icq
it was a fun little program, i liked the flowers
it serverd a purpose
re8 is like the middle word of MRI, but adj.
Then you aren't who I thought you were....
i used to work at nortel
Ok. Then you are....
lol
i took icq off a while ago
icq still exists?
I upgraded to Windows 7 and couldn't figure out the password. account likely killed by now.
yup
i stopped using it YEARS ago
loved it but was memory hog
i always liked it. rest of them annoyed me. Still do.
i am still useing the same system you put on my computer
i like skype
i use googletalk now because it ties into my android phone and lets me 'Text' my daughter in Los Angeles without those ridiculous charges.
that what bbm is for :)
I prefer android. Can write my own apps without paying 10K in SDK fees.
I'm almost afraid to ask, but how is Joan these days?
not too bad
for her age
That's good news. I know about age. Just had two stents put in on Monday myself.
she is still playing uo every night
is google talk free?
yes. to use it on a phone, need a dataplan. Its free for computers or phones with wi-fi capability. Google will give you anything if you tolerate those stupid ad's. I've got the most amazing tunnel vision ever...
joan's computer doesn't like icq which is why i got rid of it so google talk sounds like an option
Need to sign up for gmail email acct at google.com. Not sure of the exact procedure now since they've mashed everything into 'google play'.
ok so what does the gmail mean
tadone!! finito!
gmail is google's email system
just type in gmail.com
ty i got it done
gmail.com, webmail like hotmail.com. Go to google.com, click on More in the black bar, then click on 'Even More'. Find Talk in the pile of things that appears (on the right, near the bottom). You may be able to use existing email. Download and install the Google Talk application. Think its fairly straightforward.
congrats LB, I am wordblind today....
i think i have it all done
Chat in the lower left, search brandyjack11 @ gmail .com (without the spaces I stuck in it)
hi brandyjack! hi all - fell asleep babbling, so I'm back to hopefully finish - we just "got smart" yesterday, now have Droid Thunderbolts, no idea how to use it at present but it uses gmail, so I was glad of that.
now, of course, the big question.. can I get Babble on it?
Have to admit I haven't tried, although I have seen others in here carping that they can chat or they can word search because their screens are too small. I have a dell streak 5 with a 5" screen but I still haven't tried it. No App that I am aware of, just browse to playbabble.com
good morning all -- hi bj, it's been a while!
ok, ty, will do when I have time to fiddle around with it..
hi nan
is this going to be another of those grids where half the words are either foreign, manufactured or something we've never heard of nor are likely to again?
sent a invite
Actually N an, they are distressingly normal. I just can't see them for love nor money... Every now and then the blinders come off and i get a bunch.
that has been my experience, too.. words came in bunches - dry spells of staring in between
I don't have that much time, so will list for the last 84 - unless I get disgusted with it as I did yesterday
good plan, nan
so far the a's are all normal or babblets
well, i dont seem to have the issue the others do. In landscape mode my phone has enough display to do babble AND chat....
that is great, bj.. which phone do you have? The guy
at the store said they change about every six months!
kind of mind boggling when you are shopping
lol, have counted 8 words so far that use the le4 suffix, "not more"..
Mine is a Dell Streak 5, no longer sold. It has a very, very large screen. Iphone is puny beside it. but Iphone is larger than most other androids. my daughter has Acer Liquid-E, and wife has on of those Samsung Geo's. Originally pay-as-you-go, but I unlocked it and stuck a monthly Sim in it. Geo has a fairly small screen, Liquid-E is very large, but the strea k is Huge.
and am still missing one 8 letter word, so maybe the count will go up.. when in doubt, add le4
so.. it doesn't fit in your pants pocket?
it fits my pants pocket fine. Learned that the first thing you do is get one of those silicon 'skin' thangs or it will fall out of the pocket every 5 minutes. Heavy and slippery. Shirt pockets are unsafe period without the skin.
those c's are eluding me (the longer ones)
ah, good to know.. we have no "skins" yet, salesman said to use them for a week before we cover them, to get the "feel" of the phone, I guess?
my previous phone I had for 8 days before it fell out and landed face down on one of the legs of a rolling office chair. Had a beautiful 14 megapixel camer in it too.... Much smaller than the streak.
nan, if you are not a vowel, you may be a co9
I think antness should be a word. The state of being an ant. Come on, Enable!
ooch, not good bj.. our cell phones have a tendency to land in water around here.. cell phones and cameras..we are learning
There are two skins. One for the display (don't), and one for the body (DO). If he was talking about the display, then he's right, otherwise talk to someone else....
I think antrial should be allowed.. all ants should be judged
washing machine has cleaned me out of mnore than a few of my daughters phones...
have the 9, thanks aloy - I'm missing the 4th, 5th and 6th ce
true ru, but wouldn't that have two Ts?

Annie helped with the star words : )
Good Afternoon, Everybody! And congrats to you, uusue! Do you think you will miss teaching?
hi nef! I don't think so (I certainly won't miss grading), and I may come back and teach the fun courses (honors seminars and the like)
first ar 7/28 plz
if you can't breathe you're ar 7/28
LOL! :-) I'm sure no teacher ever misses the grading and papers! And I think that you probably would be back to teach the fun stuff too! From what I've seen of you here; you've seemed to enjoy teaching on the whole. (At least, that's what it sounded like with your posts here)
I do, nef, although I am also ready to relax!
Oh crud...sorry...that's wrong. I have one that has to do with the big thing in the middle of your face...
I must run, bye dear babblers
but the grading is not done yet, must get to it - bbl!
ty champ, thats it!
Your clue is right Champ, that's the first one
I totally understand, sue. I'm "retired;" but still enjoy being a nurse so am volunteering a few times a month at my last work place.... For me at least, it's been kind of tough walking away from something I loved so much for over 45 years.that
Yay! So glad when a plan comes together!
hi all
hi peri, how are you today?
doing ok,thanks and you Nef?
doing okay, too. Arguing with my daughter online; so staying off FB for now. (She always wins when we argue!) :-/
needanother break,bbl
I posted something *I* thought was funny on her FB page about a picture; she didn't think it was funny and told me not to post on her anymore. I deleted my remark, and offered to "unfriend" her; then she was offended bythat!
(In other owrds; no biggy; but she's kind of touchy right now I guess. And I'd taken her out for supper last night too!)
words, that was
Aw Nef, I'm sure you meant no harm.
Hello. Back after lunch and hoping to get to 100 words.
I didn't; I think she's just PMS-ing or something (and I shouldn't write that about another female, should I?) But anyway; I know she'll be calling after she settles down after a while
hi stidg.
Hi nef. Facebook can be so touchy. I am not using it currently but still have an account.
my dtr. always gets super sensitive when she has a change in her routine; and she just finished her derby schedule for the year. I should remember things like that.
It's okay to write that about another female. We recognize it in each other. The written word is two dimensional communication and it loses something without vocal inflection and facial expression.
Derby as in Kentucky? A friend just gave me her favorite horse's name for the race. I just look at the hats, listen to the trumpet, and watch the colors of the jockeys.
No, stidg; it's derby as in roller derby. She's been doing this for over 3 years now. And the only time she got hurt during that time was tripping over a curb last fall walking from work! (She spreained her ankle bad enough to keep her out of the 1st 2 bouts of the season)
Flat track women's roller derby is a growing sport here; and there's even a men's flat track derby league now too
We have roller derby in the NW and the local team is the Oly Rollers.
we have 2 womens leagues here: the Minnesota Roller Girls are in St. Paul (and are owned by someone) and the North Start Roller derby is in Mpls and is owned by the players (my dtr belongs in that league)
North STAR roller derby, that is
(I need to pay more attention to what I'm typing I guess)
North Star, Start, interesting possibilities. I've always wanted to be a start and so on.
And I appreciate the fact you mentioned the Kentucky Derby! We always watched that when I was growing up! Once upon a time (before the Great Depression) my grandfather had horses that raced there.
LOL!
BTW, I still got the name wrong. They are the North Stars.... Geez, no wonder my dtr. is upset with me! :-)
Typing errors, and so forth are pretty low on the priority for getting upset. Unless perhaps it is a decimal point badly misplaced--then people would only think you work as a bookkeeper for the government.
true! :-)
how is life treating you, stidg?
re 8/40 plz
oops just got it nm
sorry, ivesy, I don't have any 8's yet
Very nicely nef. We are staying home now that we have our puppy who is just a year and a half old. My husband bought a small sailboat and he is having so much fun getting it ready to sail. He even has taken some lessons but still feels very much like an apprentice. I'm trying my hand at playing with a community orchestra. It is a challenge and gets me well out of my comfort zone.
No 8s here.
sounds like fun; stidg! What instrument do you play?
Piano. Because we have so few members, I am playing the bass part on the piano!
WOW! Sounds like fun!
How many members are there?
Perhaps fifteen. My grandson is playing trumpet for the group and that is who told me they needed a piano player.
that's nice that he would think of you to do that with him.
I agree, Nef. It is so nice to be included and invited!!
angerless makes me angry !!!!!
and by your grandson! That's even better
it is so irritating ti have these ":non words" that no person has ever used or will use
So many opportunities lost on the grid, I have wanted geesen but not getting it.
and I swear that goosen should be a word too!
they goosen us frequently
LOL!!
Yes, the three os in the column beg for a lot more x's. Tic tac toe.
Good one, stidg!
there is a saying in my family. whe4n i say " i raised marta................ the rest of the tribe shouts out " and she know bull shit when she hears ie !!"

help with the first al5 please?
hello all
hello viajes
nvm found it
are people complaining about today's grid? so far I think it's a lot friendlier than yesterday's.
hi again. via, I'm complaining!
not sure.. just got here
It's inevitable that people will complain about a grid. It's the nature of Babble : )
but today there are real words that I actually say in real life sometimes. Yesterday was all gibberish!
lol true dat molly
Very true, Molly.
I agree about yesterday, it was a gibberish fest.
most of the big words end the same anyway
I'm just surprised is all
my fake word of the day is "antness" I've decided.
And then there are the people who ALWAYS say "Fun Grid!" even when everyone else is pulling their hair out.
We should all embrace our inner antness.
i was gonna joke about to7 ... but decided to try it first and it turns out to be a word
Hey, it's all about moving that rubber tree plant
I did the same thing with the wa7, cos
took me forever for that wa7
I found it to test it before I typed it here as a joke :D
lol nice... a lot pf phantoms too
Molly, some people love crazy grids because they like pain and suffering.
And some people have just seen "Pleasantville" too many times : )
does zero times count as too many? :)
Not you Cos, that movie is too fluffy for you
:) i did buy a movie today... "the witches of oz" --- about the characters of OZ . and the wicked witch decides to try to take over earth -- starting in new york city with christopher lloyd. should be interesting
Grid looks hairy... Should Inrisk it?
Cos, sounds like a spin on "Wicked".
no its not that bad stid
Okay cos, I'll give it a go. *splash*
kinda.. wicked takes place in OZ and doesnt have dorothy for the most part.. this movie takes place on earth and has dorothy as the lead
okay, is the ta8 related to the ta7 before it? it seems like it has to be but I can't figure it out...
dont have either vias
2nd an5/10 please?
don't have it
ok lets see if i can find the ta8 then :)
via, the first 5 letters of the ta8 are the same as the ta7
it ends in a waltz is a da***
got the 8
yay! ty Nef!
good clue nef
I was looking at the r for the ending -- ria, rio, ral, etc. Not working.
thanks. I didn't have the ta 7 til you asked that question; thank you for making me find it! :-)
finally found that an5
Well, NBT was fast, anyway! Have to call Tom. Waiting for him at the library...
And he is ready to be picked up! Back later... *poof*
Hey dog owners, do dogs really need to be told to go to the bathroom? Don't they know that is what outside is for? I'm so sick of hearing my neighbors tell their dogs to "go potty". Seriously?
Ha! Seriously ..
haha
is the final go7 related to the 5 and 6 before it?
Molly, our neighbors once owned a retired police dog (big beautiful German Shepherd). She needed to be told to "do your duty" before she would go....
Plausible deniability .. So the dog could say "I was only following orders" if it got in trouble ..
wow Nef
I had no idea people trained their dogs to "go on command". Poor dogs, there ought to be one thing they can do on their own time.
my dog will go when he needs to. not when i want him to
i know what its like trying to go on command.. doctors do that all the time!
Isn't all the time a dogs time? Or a cat for that matter too.
no viajes just found it.. not related
She was a very beautiful sweet dog. She died of old age (according to the vet; they found her dead in her kennel one morning). We all missed her terribly after she died
ty cos -- good to know
just a note in here about dogs pooping. Mine will not poop outside if the grass is wet. They will hold it til it dries. I kids you not
just guessed the no8.. dumb word
okay, time for dinner with neighbors, but I will be back...
Yes Cos, dumb word. Have fun Via.
go7 is the English/Irish mashup of the French word for boy ..
Um, Bich...um...what happens when there is a week of rain? : O
they sneak down into the basement when I am not looking and leave to door open and do it in a corner where I cannot find it. Of course after a while my nose will lead me to it. Bichons might look cute and fluffy but there is a brain in there

One of my sons and my sister had birthdays this week. I sent them both Omaha steak meal packages. They were really jazzed about their gifts.
i've lived in Omaha and Lincoln. I've never had omaha steaks!
but nice presents i would be happy too
I'm trying to veer away from gift cards. Although I love getting them myself, I think they are over done.
my mom asked me what i wanted for my b irthday. i told her an amazon gift card lol
I love Amazon gift cards. Amazon is my go to shopping place.

ty brandyjack and hello
ty brandyjack
hi peri
Peri, please don't let the spiteful ways of another make you feel bad. You are a sweet soul and should be treated that way.
aww thanks Molly that is so sweet
Cute clue Brandy : )
is the te8 related to the citrus?
te7 is highest. and deinitely not citrus
The ta8 has the same first four, different last four, not related to the citrus.

Hi there Queen Mab

I thought my condo association was meeting for dinner (I live in a 4-plex) but I was wrong. So now I am hungry.
I will try not to eat anyone in the chog while I wait for a pizza to be delivered.

I need one of the first two.. i have the ce + write a ****

how patriotic
the first ce6 builds on the ce4 above it
thank you
yw ru
FW now off to play morewords
brits are fond of their nation but they don't run around waving flags. the french also, but then they are the french.
pizza! hooray! 8:45pm is way past viajes' dinner time
what is that quote viajes - 'extremism in the cause of freedom is no vice'
don't know that quote... sounds like some people though. sigh.
I like the stories of the various renditions of the American flag and what it meant to those who freed our country from tyranny. I can see why Americans are flag lovers.
done with the politics. i can't help myself. sorry.
I didn't say so.
? Via ? I thought you went to have dinner with friends?
She did, but the friends never showed up...
I thought so too Molly! It was a meeting of everyone in my building, but there was no dinner. I was misinformed.
they were there; it just wasn't a food-inclusive gathering
i respect your point of view mols. viajes is waiting for pizza.
<--Should read further back in chat.
pizza is here, so my brain should start working again soon
*takes a bite of pizza; words start appearing in the grid like magic...*
oh yes, Goldwater. thank goodness no one says such things these days.
Anti-Imperialistic Conference, Chicago, Illinois, October 17, 1899: “I confidently trust that the American people will prove themselves … too wise not to detect the false pride or the dangerous ambitions or the selfish schemes which so often hide themselves under that deceptive cry of mock patriotism: ‘Our country, right or wrong!’ They will not fail to recognize that our dignity, our free institutions and the peace and welfare of this and coming generations of Americans will be secure only as we cling to the watchword of true patriotism: ‘Our country—when right to be kept right; when wrong to be put right.’â€â€”Schurz, “The Policy of Imperialism,†Speeches, Correspondence and Political Papers of Carl Schurz, vol. 6, pp. 119–20 (1913).
Good evening Babblers
ooh. I likes. when right to be kept right; when wrong to be put right.
Trouble is, the people who want to put it far right.
evening whit. patriotism is dangerous.
different definition of right...
Of course, viajes. How could we make puns if words only meant one thing. :^)
clue for the singleton n in the second row, please.
ron paul; we'd all be living off roots and berries and have no proper plumbing. among other things.
glowing inert gas
nm. I just found the Haiwian goose
I guess I will have to let the fish slap me in the PB.

Because at the core of Cheney's Law is the belief that because of 911 the United States must now be 'a government of men not laws.'
fat old white men
<-- opposes all politics that detract and/or distract from finding se words in the grid
;)
Hey there, wht.
i'd rather find the la words. got all the se's....
I shall leave, the pariah you make of me
I'm missing some la's and a bunch of le's as well...
do not leave babblerabble!
but now the wizard has given cheney a heart.
yes, it was a miracle! I didn't know it was operable!
what does he need one of those for?
his old one rusted shut because he didn't use it....
nasty piece of work, that man
and yet, and yet... Obama seems determined to follow his lead on certain issues...

to 7 please
Hey, everyone should have the space to have their say.We don't have to agree, just respect the opinions of others.
SEs are ... se... se... finished
nevermind
we weren't going to help you anyway, ru.

hi neil
hi neil
Haha. Hi ru and mab. :)
Hey ru... see your email?
clue for either ar7, please
no.. not yet
ar + vowel + schnoz
ar7,28 -- is, in a plural sense and a facial feature.
that's a word?!?!
it's not artnose
Apparently.
ty neil and Molly
yw wht.
ahh, it means sandy or gritty. Makes sense. Related to spanish word for sand...
used to have "ous" ending, in the olden days, I guess?
Other ar7..ar + vowel + dig a h*** in the ground
That's right... but didn't know the origin of it.
Oops, plural that.
thanks molls
seems a lot more normal if you don't look at it as a compound word. Then it's just silly.
ty Molly, didn't have either of those.
I am happy, I found both of the 9's today by myself.
When a website has a "makeover" that makes it not fully load for an eternity, I'm thinking that's not much of an improvement.
*Gold stars for Wht*
hate that, nn
today you are a man wht.
Yep. Pretty much, mab... I gave up and closed that browser window out of sheer frustration.
of course, wht, i will never find them.
i guess that's why everyone says i'm so childish
Good going, wht.
or, or, is it young at heart. i forget
Mab, one is a word that is often used in clues. In fact it has been used a couple of times this evening.
thanks wht
an7, compound word for a state that Zen practitioners aspire too.
Mab, it's young at heart. And don't you forget that. : )
antness?
sorry, an9
I am, you *** + **** sometimes is said to be more
that is my contribution to confusion
excellent!
clue for the go7 please
go + ba******, woodwind instrument.
I suppose the ir7 is a synonym of the an9
Exactly, wht.
That is a word???
Apparently.
[yes, I had to use Morewords for that one]
clue for the le5 after the opposite of borrowed?
le + singleton
ty!
A unit of money from Sierra *****

I have a horrible feeling it's going to be something obvious and I will have to kick myself...

time for wine... what's in the PB, Molly? (Since you are our resident party-planner)
Haha, wht!
hmm. I did not know that you could verb the thing over our heads... (ce4)
clue for the ta8, please.
sine, cosine, ta** -- but change the ending
Not getting the ending, viajes

Where is jmc? She would like wa7.
OK. For fireworks. Clue for the first al5, please.

clue for gn6? (I almost typed "glue for gn6")
ty viajes. Fireworks.

Clearly,my eyes stopped being al5, a while ago.

well, fellow finisher, I am off. and adios to everyone else too... back at flippety if I'm still awake.
Good night viajes. I am off as well. Except that I know that I will be asleep at the flip.
hi akk
er hi all
hello e1 gl
hi alta i don't think i have met you before
perhaps not jm! new to the game as of a couple weeks ago
welcome to babbleland!
lol, thanks I think!!!! game drives me nuts!
i haven't been playing regularly because of school
but it is a good nuts i hope! haha
Hey there, jmc.
hi peach
learning new words, thats for sure
haha most of which are completely useless!
zackly!
relect
well it is fun to know the name of a hawaiian go5/14
oops! ignore that!
haha np not a word
hehe
next time make sure its a word because i just got on and want to at least make nbt (no blank tile)
lol
how about that the go5/14 is here!
so other than golf and word games what do you enjoy alta?
camping:)
nice. . . woods. . . mountains?
I don't do winter well! I don't ski, skate,snowmobile....I was never meant to be born and raised in Alberta! Think I'm a Californian...someone screwed up
haha
omg the capitals are in triple overtime!
calgary?
wow
town just over an hour north from Calgary....and an hour and a half south of edmonton. Very central!
my sister lived in calgary for a time . . . my younger fantasy was to cross country ski from banff. . . i heard there were leantos
and I don't cross country ski either! But that would be a beautiful trip
banff is so beautiful. . . i have been there a few times
once with the snow falling on my while swimming in the hot springs
humpf. . . one who go5/14s should be a word!
yes, it is, and I love British Columbia also. Bet it snowed there today! was very chilly here today
well i am glad i live in DC i can just barely stand the winter here!
how cold does it get?
this year not at all. . . only spent a few days under freezing in the day
some years it can be miserable and below freezing for weeks at a time
nothing to you up there i know!
we actually had a fairly mild winter, only plugged my car in 7 or 8 times, but it was still winter
i grew up in texas where if it gets below freezing for more than 2 nights in a row it is a tragedy
lol, like Vancouver when they get the odd snow, the city shuts down! no-one knows how to drive with a couple inches of snow!
well in DC things get pretty crazy when it snows because it is so seldom we don't have enough plows for more than a few inches
stats for the E in the top left corner please
ahh, can see a problem there then.
en4
how many words are there?
it all depends on how often you have a problem as to whether you can deal with it well
235 samnz
ty m9 and hi
yw
en 6/7 also
nbt
ty m9
i think that will have to do me tonight with 166 left
bye all and nice meeting you alta
me too, and I have more than that left:) nice to meet you!
OK, I'll settle for NBTs since I'm starting so late. State for the lower right E please, if anyone has them.
*stats
et 6/7
that's a very pretty rose
Wow, thank on both counts. Just noticed I also need the top N in the center column for NBTs.
*thank you. (Gotta pay better attention)
that one will sneak up and go5 you in the behind!
wow m9, I actually got it from that clue! Thank you! LOL
:-) yw
help with the co7?
ok.. but you'll need to sign a co7 form
co7 to give permission
ty
NBT?
"no blank tiles"
and nbs + no blank stats
no blank tiles? what does that mean?
having at least one word that starts from each tile
any help with the x tile?
do you see the stats chart underneath the grid?
there is no x word.LOL
ok.. from each tile that has a stat.
no stats chart
ah.. are you playing on a phone or something?
no I used to play more a while ago
must have used up my trial period
I don't think that makes a diff? maybe it does
It does.
m9...after 2 weeks..you lose the stats panel and total word count unless you go pro
There's a trial period when you sign up .. after a while you don't see the stats ..
ah..
Trial must have expired. Damn
I guess I went pro pretty quickly. Or that happened and I don't remember it.LOL
it wasn't that expensive I remember
I think 15 bucks?
I played for about 2 yrs without them..when I went pro it was sensory overload for a while
It's an incentive to part with US$15 for a LIFETIME membership ..
Yes.. I've MORE than spent 15 dollars worth of time on here!LOL
think we all have :)
29 to go..
even with list this one is dragging... I do have a headache though
bunch of us came over from tanglewords...where you get a new board every 2 minutes....never had the stats and Lickety was up pretty much all the time so you didn't really need them
probably why I don't get into the nbt/nbs stuff as much as some other...used to just diving in and finding them fast....24 hrs seems like a luxury
yes well YOU can! LOL
(find them fast)
possibly, babble save my life. good evening.
hi mab
