HI jilli

Qs: qu5x3
oh i forgot list is up. never mind
enable knows nothing of nooners. enable is very simple in his proclivities
that's very cool sammy
enable is a prude.
enable only knows alternative words for breasts
aalso am catalogueing and packing lots of boxes of books to leave then in case they are too damned dumb to take my advice..... kids don't ya know
well it does take yoni
what makes you think enable is a he?
enable is dumb therefore it must be a male :)
because it doesn't make any sense!
because it' breast fixated
probably a blonde male at that hmmmmmmmmm?
that's kind of tit for tat don't you think Mab?
i thought blond was for males while blondes were female?
it also takes roger
hoh! monkey got the pa7 -- nbs
wtg!
I agree cos
squeet
my english teacher in 6th grade scolded me for that so it always stuck to me :)
105 down and time to list!
squeet?
S's done. No squ words
wonders what would squeet mean?
i agree! squeet would be a lovely word
se 7 just stopped me cold
so i squeeted
that just gave me a nasty image lol yuck

those kids are great!!
ugh i forgot that was on!
and another....boy, this is as close as i have ever been without a list
anyone here watched "hatfields & mccoys" on history channel?
wtg rose
no, cos
oh it was fascinating. kevin costner was devil anse hatfield
6 hours long but it was great. i expect emmy nominations
6 hours!
3 part miniseries.
I don't have time for a 6 hour TV show!
6 hours of Kevin Costner?.. wasn't that Dances with wolves?
lol no this was better.
ROFL ruru!
... seemed like six hours
jill -- i watched it in a span of 5 days. I dvr'd it.
it seems a lot of time to wring out of a hillbilly feud
last miniseries i watched was samuel adams
oh darn - meant to watch it, cos and forgot
LOL.. it probably started over someone's sister
i mean shoah was what, eight hours?
it was not 100% factually accurate.
actually it started because hatfield deserted his troop in the civil war. mccoy never forgave him and it eseclated.
I don't have a dvr
i don't have a tv
hatfield's son and mccoy's daughter getting pregnan t out of wedlock was pretty much when it hit the fan
it limits what i watch
now that sounds like the Palins cos?
i need to get a book on them. but i have books coming in the mail from amazon .. too many books too litle time
lol ru ... good point
I should think so, mab -- but now you can watch somuch on a puter or iPone or iPad
oh yes; that is good
its coming out on dvd nan.. end of july
My uncle was married to a McCoy
was she a real McCoy?
a real mccoy, peach/
oh no, I'm thinking like ru
snap
the movie made the mccoys look really bad. it was slanted towards the hatfields.
LOL MAb.. there's worse things
time for world of warcraft. see ya tomorrow :)
like....
kidding.
goodnight cos
night cos
Well, as I was saying...my uncle was married to a McCoy ( she was the only one in the family that had good sense). I remember her mother (gosh she would be way over 100 years old now). It seems that a Mr. Patton went to the hills and got himslef a bride....they had a passle (sp) of kids. I don't remeber hearing if they ever went back up into the hills. Actually, it wasn't quite safe then.
anyone have a clue for the ha 6?
Yep, ruru, that she was.

salut, ruby! :-)
that I bought in 1975!
oh no! sorry, ruby!
I collect blue and whie dishes and pottery and, if you can believe it, I've saved everything I've broken over the years with hopes of making a Gaudi-esque bench before I die!
so it's never a total loss
have been shlepping shards around through many moves!
how very creative!! :-)
have you been to Barcelona?
yes!!
am familiar with "Gaudi-esque" :-)
so you know what I mean about the mosaic!
my husband never "got it"
indeed!:-)
the problem is finding a plain cement bench to cover with my stuff....
I have just the spot for it in the garden but soon I'll be too old to do it.... :(
landscaper's supply store?
I have tried every place
everybody is too fancy to want a plain cement bench!
hmmmm
:-D
it is wonderful here now, nice and hot -- much needed after the rainy April and May
and flowers!!!!
lots of roses about now, I'll bet, eh?
many many. and everything is in flower at the same time because of the strange weather so there are roses, peonies, iris, campanula, geraniums (an annual cheat), allium, chives (in flower), pellargonium and many whose names I don't remember
also, a wonderful shrub that was evidently always here which smells like jasmine but doesn't look like what I could find in google
sounds GORGEOUS!!
just searched google art for "mosaic bench" -- lots of beautiful examples!
and everything in shades of pink, rose, red, violet, salmon, blue and a little white
lovely . . .
I have Gaudi's park indelibly etched behind my eyes
even his lizard!
:-D
off to watch a bit of the French Open -- good to see you, Ruby!! byeeee
bye, une!
enjoy the tennis
for nbt, does anybody have the 2nd column n?
A group of nine
bless yu, molly, I thought that was en5
NOW I can rest with the NYT crossword!
how are you today? Is it hot there?
No, we had a cold front move through yesterday so it's nice and cool out this morning.
I was craving the heat, so I'm very happy
May was terribly cold
had to wait until his past week to put the tomatoes in, usually we do it in April
this*
Really? Wow. I've had my tomatoes in for over a month. Just got the first red cherry one yesterday.
all the people who put them in at the usual time wound up with rotten leaves and collapsed plants
my tomato plants are dinky
last year, there were more than I could use AND give away!
but, for the first time, we have a lot of strawberries
And you will this year too, just later, that's all. Ooo, lots of strawberries is a blessing.
they aren't big, but they're really tasty -- not like the awful ones around Miami which were big, beautiful and without flavor
these are almost as intense as fraise de bois
this is all such a treat for me as it's my first garden
Yours sound delicious. I know the strawberries of which you speak. Big, red and taste like straw.
hence the name, lol
and then, of course, French sweet cream and sugar -- how bad is that?
and the currants are almost ready
I love growing things. One of my dreams is to have a greenhouse, so I can do that all year long.
did you ever see the movie "Saving Grace", talk about greenhouses! starring Brenda Blethyn
you would love it!
No, I haven't seen that one.
she has an amazing greenhouse.....which she puts to excellent use
see you later; all this gardening has knocked me out
Have a good day, Ruby.

yay, I get a new floor in my back room today, finally!! if all goes as planned, of course... around this place that's a big if! :P
OK, maybe I should have save those for the af 9?
hi rbud
Hope all goes well, Rose
yeah, me, too, it would be the big first step that might eventually get me a whole new kitchen, too... it's a circular thing, room by room. :)
good start, rbud
the bedroom goes into the back room, the living room goes into the bedroom, the kitchen goes into what is now the living room, the leg bone's connected to the foot bone... lol!
dem bones, dem bones, gonna rise again
- the old kitchen will be a new bathroom, too - this could be great. All with big wide doors and nice ramps if needed, we're planning for the long haul.
sounds wonderful, rbud
well, the potential for ramps, I mean.
I'm getting excited, whee! I've always wanted the bedroom to be the living room, it's huge, in the front of the house, and has a big bay window, so it makes sense.
sounds like the front bedroom was once a living room
any clue for the lone E?
I think so, too. It's an old house.
dont have it, dawg
haha, all these e's, i's, and a u, and no needlecase, funny.

hiya, sprite!
good morning / afternoon everyone
hi Annie, rbud, Mom :D
(((Mom))) How are you today?
((Sprite)) good morning
(((Annie))) good morning to you. I am just fine, thanks. And you?
Mom, I will write later.
I look forward to it, Annie.
I need to write you as well
tadone!! finito! and good morning/day/evening to everyone i missed coming in.
Sprite should finish this in an hour or less
did I tell you guys I will be visiting rubyfoo in two weeks?
wow, great dawg, congrats!
yay, dawg!!!
wtg dawg! And nah, Annie, I am not that fast :)
good morning ((LBD)). I believe I read at some point that you have found work. What are you doing?
really Sprite? That is great.
that's great, sprite! what fun, would love to also
are you going there or is she coming to you?
that should be a great visit, sprite
I go to her and her husband. Will stay 3 days. Really looking forward to it!
sounds fabulous
sprite, are you bringing terra?
guess you will see us together... babbling in duo :D
ty, ty, ty. Hi (((MOM))) yes, employed again. working at Home Depot or otherwise known as Hubby Daycare.
Annie: no, I have decided not to. The train trip is long for him. And the decider was that ruby's young Chow is still very wild. Terra is not comfortable with big young eager dogs. They have hurt him in the past.
wooooot lbd! Gratz and great!
lol, LBD. I am so glad you have found work.
How long is the train ride, Sprite?
8 hours, Mom.
how exciting to be going to visit Ruby, sprite. i bet you two will have loads of fun.
aw, but you'll get to see the chows, how fun!
good decision, sprite...bask away in her garden..it must be wonderful this time of year
yes I expect so too :) I will bring a camera and make lots of pics for Flickr!
Ruby said she's been spending lots of time in her garden this week. it will be all primed for your visit.
yes, looking forward so much for the chows. But even more to meeting ruby and husband and chatting IRL with them.
can't wait to see the pictures. 8 hours .... that is not long at all
I really hope ruby won't work harder now, just because of me! I will take things as they are and I already know I will LOVE the garden.
Mom: no, with a high speed train, marvelous isn't it! But 8 hours is long for a dog.
someone is at the door, (early) will be back soon
ohhhh I found a blooming tree!
good morning my friends:)
*hugs crossy* Hi handsome!
good afternoon everyone!
bye bye Annie
((sprite))
(((Flask))) good afternoon
hi Flask!
howdy flask
Hi ((Crossy))
((mom))
Sprite, I was just saying to sweetie, how it amazes me that you can get to France in 8 hours. 8 hours on a train here wouldn't get you halfway across the country
Hi ((Mom))
need to find the blooming tree
no, the distances are so incredibly different, between Europe and the US. I am in Paris in 3 hours, then I must metro to the other side of Paris, and then in a little over 4 hours I am in Annecy. Really amazing.
it is amazing. Our oldest and his wife are going to Portugal in August and are debating if they want to take the train to Spain.
you know, whenever people here say: "I won't drive that far" about some distance in the Netherlands (max 400 km), I always say: "In America you would drive that to bring your kid to sport clubs, lol."
we often forget the short distances over there,i talk to family in the U.K and they idly mention they are going to spain for the weekend and my mind goes "spain?,for the weekend??" the the distances kick in
that is the truth.
indeed sprite,i once had a job that was a 3 hour drive each way
What amazes me is the fact that the U.S is so big...it has different time zones!!
so do we flask lol
see? It is worlds apart. Oh yes, Flask, amazing, isn't it!
really Crossy??
lol indeed flask, remember we span the entire width as well
yes, you too, crossy. Truly baffling for us. Actually, now with the Euro, I can go to rubyfoo as I would go to Groningen, for instance. Just hop in the train, hop out again, just need a weekend bag.
I get very confused even on here with it, sometimes!
yes 4 times zones.
Sweetie was saying that russia has 6 time zomes
zones*
hehehe me too! I often ask what time it is for other babblers. I learned here: first the aussies, then europe, then the US arrive at a certain time.
woot, Mom. Can you imagine?
we have 6 time zones:)))
the blooming tree starts se, btw.
I know that Crossy....it just doesn't seem to be mentioned so much....perhaps I'm wrong....
Pacific Time, Mountain Time, Central Time, Eastern Time, Atlantic Time, and Newfoundland Time
More time zones than the US, Crossy...we just have 4
We are in Florida and want to go visit our daughter and son in law in San Francisco. It's two days by car or train.
Well Crossy thats all new to me...thanks for the info.
we have none, grin.... well, one of course, but we take it from Berlin. We don't have one that starts in our own country.
tabby: that is some trip!
Planning on going by train one day...would enjoy that
no I can't imagine
oh I forgot the time zone for Hawaii
here in ontario sprite and flask,if we wish to visit someone on vancouver island in the west,i can be up to two weeks to get there by car :)))
I think a train ride across the US would be wonderful
I've flown out there...can't remember the time it took but we had a layover in Albuquerque, NM
So do I Mom....would love it!!
wow crossy, that is really baffling. And yes, a train ride across the US would be great.
Oh Crossy...I would just fly.....lol
we have one for canada to the western points,it is call the rocky mountaineer and it is amazing

I'd love to take that one someday, Crossy. Have heard how beautiful it is

bye lbd...
bye dawg, hagd at work
you as well, (((LBD)))
$418.00 return
lol, no routes available!
so much money... one must think hard before going, I think
indeed
and you can google the rocky mountaineer.the distances get staggering
The trip from Florida to San Francisco with sleeping room is over $1,000 per person which includes all meals.
it takes 2 days (+) to go just from Chicago to San Diego on Amtrak - I used to work at the local Amtrak station.
but i would love to spend a week or so in a first class berth with access to the dome coach and wind my was through the mountains
There are layovers in DC and Chicago of several hours. Enough time to do a little sightseeing
it is a fine way to travel indeed.too bad so much of it has been lost
It would be a great trip, Crossy
lolol.... coast to coast, crossy... takes 16 days. Costs 4000+ euro.
lol good lord
there's a steam engine excursion that goes every few years from Cali to our little town and then goes back, you can get off right in our yard, lol

meeting*
no4/4 is one
you can minimize the video. . . it is up in the corner
and no5/10 is the other
i am actually on a video conference
of course you can always rund dual screens
hello everybody
((ruby))
{{crossy}}
sorry, the first one must be nE4/4. Babblet.
{{sprite}}
hiya ruby :)
{{_jmc}}
hi ruby! *waves madly*
goose alert!
it was ne4
yes the goose
yeah, it was, I corrected it already :)
hahah, I thought you meant me
the other one takes 9
95 words this AM
rubygoose?
ruby,you silly goose
whenever I can garner 10 minutes' more energy, I go out and pull weeds
silly ruby
did sprite tell you why I'm sprucing up the garden?
that IS silly, ruby. I will love the garden just as it is, don't go make things perfect on my behalf, please. Ok?
so the other n is no9?
no why are you sprucing up your garden
not a worry, it's good for me to yank some weeds and deadhead the roses!
no, no5/10. Sing with 9
sprite is coming to visit!!!!! yay
*jumps up and down*
babble meet up!!!!
sprucing for sprite
yay!!!
yeah :) But I don't want ruby to overdo things. Trust me, friend, I will love things just as they are.
it is lovely and warm here, much-needed sun after rainy and cold April and May
I need to be out in the sun and might as well pull weeds while there!
the currants are just starting to get pink
haha i pull weeds when i wait for my sister to pick me up
ooo do you make jam?
ok :) Just take it easy, ok?
exactly, you can't make a "day plan" around weed-pulling
I make currant jelly, blackberry jelly, ignore the cassis and apples, plum jam when there are some (not most years) but eat the raspberries, strawberries and figs as they ripen
it makes me happy
oo i would make apple butter....i loves apple butter
*drools* Can you teach me to make jam, ruby?
i have tried to grow figs a couple of times. . .i grew up with giant figs trees
I love it, too, but didn't know it could be homemade. Will look it up. Generally, I give all the apples to the fellow who helps with the garden
it is possible that the currants will be ready when you get here if the sunshine keeps up
<--- loves apples
ruby, you didn't yet tell me what I can bring for your husband and dogs.
I thought the fig tree was killed by the last frosts (following the warm February) but it has made a lovely comeback
I don't know if there'll be figs this year, but I was said when I thought it was dead
good for the fig tree! At least we will have something to wear af5 the orgies ;)
did you think the herring idea was funny?
sad*
I will see what I can do, ruby, about the herring :)
when it was planted, 15 or so years ago, it was exactly my size and now it is very big and pretty
it's a great idea, but probably a stinky one LOL
I had dit placed in the warmest, sunniest part of the garden, against a wall with a total South exposure
I will only do it when they can pack it in vacuum thingies. I know our cheese vendor does that.
so... what to bring to make your husband happy? And your dogs?
Burt will love that, too
ah good :)
YOU will make them all happy; Burt is truly the man who has everything!
and the dogs love company
ok, then just tell me if he is a sweettooth or a harty man.
harty? Can't be right. Someone who loves his snacks salty.
put a dog biscuit in each pocket! they'll be in puppy heaven
ok :) Do they like to gnaw on hide or not?
he doesn't snack :( and doesn't eat sweets. Do you eat sweets, though, I will make a strawberry tart!
I eat sweets, but nothing with cream. Most cakes are not for me. I will love strawberries though!
Burt bought a giant-size pkg of chewy bones and the dogs turn up their baclk noses -- I will send them home with you for Terra
black* noses
Good morning!
lol ok :D Chows... the cats among the dogs.
hiya car.ee
Rufie is changing color and the front of his legs are getting darker, so he looks like he's wearing chaps
Hi Sprite!
and does Burt like things to read? About what?
{{car.}}
So cute!
((ruby))
aww that is so sweet
absolutely true, they are like huge cats in fur coats
pls don't worry about Burt, Sprite, he is just happy that you are coming to visit!
maybe I will bring Burt a little book about dutch mills or something like that... would he find that interesting?
I am happy to finally meet him too!
he loves the Netherlands, had a factory there many years ago, I think in Kampen [sp?], but he'll tell you his wonderful story about it
Yeah! Babble Road Trip!
oh! Looking forward to that! Kampen is correct. Oh and the booze is spelled 'Jenever'. :)
he says that it is said that the smartest men in the world come from Kampen
I looked at several online recipes for apple butter and i hate all of them. . .
yes car :) June 19, all is booked.
Hi jmc!
I have never even heard of apple butter, jmc.
<-- had no idea of the spelling but used to drink it in Brussels all the time and in Amsterdam the little bit I was there
I will look in my NYT cookbook for a recipe for you
I will certainly show sprite how to make jam; it is really easy (except for quince, which is a fruit I only admire and sniff)
quince... isn't that that particular pe4?
so looking forward to be in the kitchen with you, ruby!
basically you cook the apples within an inch of their lives and then add cinnamon mace ginger and sugar depending on the sweetness of the apple
being*
looks like a pe4 on steroids, but has beautiful flowers (finished now) and gritty but wonderfully fragrant fruit. It makes a great jelly, but too much trouble for lazy me
hm... is that the same as apple sauce then, jmc?
or
thought so, ruby! Very particular fruit indeed.
i have a quince bush but my quinces are sooooooo hard that i can't do a thing with them
hi Legend :) Happy or to you too.
similar but not the same. . . brown and spicy and lovely
does it have salmon-colored flowers, jmc?
hi legend
yes it does ruby
if yes, then it's a Japanese quince and the fruit isn't worth eating
ok! Must try that once. I thought it was made with butter and I don't eat butter at all.
i was told it was a flowering quince
we have it as a decorative plant and I've just learned, to my delight, that it is invasive and just had several babies around the garden
brb
awww baby quinces. Would they grow in the netherlands?
the regular quince has very large pink flowers that look a lot like roses and large pe4-shape fruit which is light green shading to bronze
also, it is a tree and the Japanese quince is more bush-like
the holly also had two babies this year but they're thorny
renet
my quince produces flowers, but the fruit mostly disappear. Probably eaten my something
and on that note, I'm off to give pups their cocktail-hour treats
deer?
dear bichon!!
hehehe only 2 more weeks, ruby!
amazing!
hi bichon!
Hi Bichon!
mornin' everyone
Rufie just strolled into the studio and stood on Ruby's tail; she is now whining and snarling at him
but she never hurts him
aw poor ruby.
I think she loves him, though, and they often sleep very close to each other
the snarling is for my benefit, I think
Ahhh..pack play!
yeah, sounds good. And by snarling she warns rufie that he must behave. It's only for the good.
my two go at each other too. But, it's just play fighting
I would love to see her reaction to Marco and Polo. It would be a riot; Rufie would hinke they were fluffy toys and Ruby would probably just slink away
think*
I guess I'm the alpha dog around here
see you later, kids!
fireflies! Must be off. *hugs* to all and have fun! Ruby: that is the only way! You the alpha.
Wahoo! Well done Sprite!
Have a great day!
Most other dogs are terrified by Maro/Polo.
I think because they were on the street they learned that offense is the best defense
OMG! I found the 9!!!!
Well done Car. Go to the head of the class : )
Stats please for the 2nd column N at the bottom?
Thank you! ((Molly)) Good morning!
Beautiful icon!
no5/10
*Trying to picture Marco and Polo as street thugs : ) *
Ty Molly! I finally got it!
The up and twisty ones are hard for me to find.
*Goes to the PB for horrible grammar*
squee is so a word!
what does it mean shirl?
I totally agree! I say it almost every day! Good morning Shirlockc
it's the sound you make when you meet one of your personal icon/idols or get really excited
Squee: Internet onomatopoeia for a squeal
nooner should be a word too!
How many ae words please?
I agree about nooner. That word has been around a long time and is a well established slang word. But Enable will take "arvo". Go figure.
Three ae words Car.
I'm pissed enable won't take Dino
Ok
and it is now time for crossy,s tidbit of the day!!!
back
Yeah! Crossy and Ruby!
Amerigo Vespucci, for whom many historians believe America was named, was an Italian pickle merchant.
wb ruby:)
Pickles, huh?
Tee hee! Crossy said "pickle"!
Hi Scrabs!
indeed..pickles
Hi kids. Another dreary, dark, rainy day here and this will continue through Thursday. Blah.
back because "cocktail time" didn't last 15 minutes without mr. nasty getting annoyed with me
gee, scrabs, I remember upstate NY..... :(
I do hope you walked away from Mr Cranky Pants, Ruby.
Well, we do need the rain as May was summery.
yes I did, fixed myself a g & t and came back here
many need the rain for pollen relief.
True, Car.
hello all.. may i have a clue for se7/40 pls?
Hi Owl
it's funny, with all the rain we had in April and May, there is less pollen this year
Hi TO. Clue: Big tree
Hi TO! Sorry I don't have it yet. But I can help you look....
hi TO, huge Calif tr**
Ooops! I do have it!
also used the BIG letter
thanks! hagd all!
Time for more coffee...and an allergy pill..snort, cough, wheeze....
I wish you all a wonderful day! {{hugs}} to all!
poor car. !!
Bye Owl.
And bye Car
Its actually not too bad Ruby...I am staying on top of the allergies...Zyrtec is working great for me!
handing car. an embroidered hankie
The se7 is one of the world's largest, non-flowering plants. They are awesome to see in person.
I like Benadryl beter than Zyrtec
<-- never seen one
GAK! Can you imagined the pollen though! LOL!
are they different from redwoods?
I take Benadryl sometimes to fall asleep.
OK! BYE!
{{car.}}
Yes Ruby, se7s and redwoods are different.
hmmmm, Calif experience is very limited
Tequila and cookies in the grid : )
sounds good to me! what word does anyone want? I'll try to blunder into the PB
mmm tequila and cookies....
whoops, I misread that --- wishful thinking, I guess
herradura?
Herrawhata?
Oh, no. Pa5
I think it's the best tequila -- unavailable here. But it can be downed as a fine cognac
haven't gotten a word in a loooong time! stuck at 95
clave Azul is the best tequilla
don't know it, ru, but when you come to France, pls bring a bottle
all my mexican friends swear by it
I've written down the name
that.. I can do. I may come to France soon
Hi ruru
I have to go to Pont de L'sere and Avignon
that would be sooo nice. Telling my son about that brand; he lives in Austin
I scrabs
Clue for the lone E, second column, please?
south of here, ru
e + not a record
where are you Ruby .. near Burgundy?
en6/21 totally involved
That is not from that E.
ha6?
no, north of Grenoble, south of Geneva, NE of Lyon
thinking about "totally involved"
you are to the East?
or what happens before the end of the world
SE, 10 minutes from Annecy
ra4ure
Aha, Ruby. The last clue did it for me.
raft
rafter
after
<-- sits here with 95 words
Free clues! Don't miss 'em!
there have been many today, scrabs, and I'm grateful for all of them
*wonders how much time Scrabs spends in the PB*
Not enough, Ruru.
I keep her well-oiled with g & t's
Good Morning Everybody! Thanks for the help Scrabs! :-)
I am having dinner with a pediatrician tonight scrabs.. so you're excused
Hi Nef
hello nef!
Say hello to a comrade, Ruru. We are overworked, underpaid and underappreciated....but we love kids. Adolescents, however, I could do without.
<---I don't have to cook today.. wwwwwweeeeeeeeee
he lives in Bozeman Montana and has a successful practice there
good morning! We have a glorious day he**; but DH is still asleep so I'm still in my 'jammies! (what a lovely day to be lazy)
And I am attending a baby shower for my nephew + his girlfriend so I get dinner too.
hi neff.. I am in my robe still
Nef, you are lucky. It is our 2nd day of rain and dreariness.
It's taco night here, so I am the Babble peasant.
I have to make dinner in a minute; wish I could just stay here
Tacos are great--make your own just the way you want.
we've had 10 inches of rain in about 3 weeks; yesterday was so cold; so today is really a gift
*wonders if there is a pizza night at Molly's house*
Oh, Nef, you are all wet.
oooh, tacos sound good
I could do that, but not tonight.
Of course there is, like I said, I am the Babble peasant.
belive it or not, you can buy El Paso brand stuff here
I think you are the Babble savante, molly
Alas, some of us have to eat based on a budget.
I had "Shredded Wheat" cereal + blueberries for dinner last night. I am also a Babble peasant.
if it wasn't so bad for me, I would eat an egg yolk on toast for dinner EVERY night
i had a store bought frozen 3 dollar pizza last night, crossy also a babble peasant
the rivers are full and some lowland flooding; the Mississippi is over it's banks in spots. (The falls by downtown Minneapolis are very fierce
Yikes, Nef.
We have a lot of flooding here too, Nef, after yesterday's downpours.
honer
when I lived in Sou Illinois, the Miss flooded every year -- scary
$ 3 pizza is below peasant crossy.. lol
Another free clue...and I had already entered it earlier anyway.
and in Binghamton, it was the Susqu which flooded, also every year
I would love a $3 pizza!
I don't eat pizza that often any more
no ruru, the instand ramen noodles with a 80 cent can of flakes of turkey is below peasant
the calories are incredible
or take-out Chinese!!!!
Well, time to go into town to shop for me and for my mother. Then I'll bring stuff to her and off we go to the baby shower. 36 left. Maybe I'll be back tonight.
LOL crossy
Very frugal, Crossy.
actually chinese food is very $$$ here ruby
bye scrabs
we're up quite high (in this landscape, anyway), so we're not worried about it. Most of the areas around the rivers here are parks, etc. so no one has had property damage
better than ketchup soup and kool-aid i suppose
ugh
there just isn't any worth eating here, crossy
ha6?
ugh, crossy! How discusting that sounds!
I miss it so much, I'd be willing to pay, crossy
I worked with a woman, years ago, who used to call her children to say how much she loved them, and then they would eat ketchup sandwiches for dinner
Could I have a clue for that 2nd column, bottom row N please? I've tried everything from all of the opther words
ha6/21 before + cons
letters, I mean
thx ruby
9-person group
Ew Ruby. I know someone who used to eat canned Vienna sausage and mayonnaise sandwiches. Double Ew.
I think that may be the bottom, molly
let's get off this awful food subject ..yuck
maybe it depends on what kind of brea
It makes me gag every time I think of it.
OK, making nasty husband a hamburger for dinner
*Hands Ru a dainty plate of carrot and celery sticks*
I'm still ralphing from the vienna sausage thing
and I'll have steak tartar
Nasty husband should get dog food for dinner. : P
with an egg
does anyone remember ther scene in the movie (whose name escapes me at this senior moment) with Barbara Streisand and Nick Nolte?
Dog food and tabasco sauce for the nasty husband
I finally got that N word. Thanks, ruby
the movie, please.... ruby is losing it
set in Sou Carolina and NY
tell nasty hubby to shape up or ill come over there and toss him in the pond
pls, crossy, he is such a jerk
.."the way we weren't?"
don't know, ruby. Not a movie person
nah
lol
tell him if he does not shape up you will carve "here lies mr nasty" onhis headstone
<-- movie person but can't remember -- but will
sorry to intrude, but do you mean the prince of tides?
prince of tides
Prince Of Tides, Ruby
bless you, zsa zsa, ruru and molly; I totally blanked on that name
<---Has seen that movie a dozen times.
:)
and you will pay ten year old boys to pee on his grave every day while on their way to school
<-- loves that movie (and the book)
hahah
The ending sucks though. Lowenstein got used.
I'll put his ashes in the garden and the dogs will take care of that!
groggy morning all
she was terrif! and I thought the wife was a sap
and a groggy morning to you, via!
dinner now, see you later
99 words and collapsing
vias, look out the window and enjoy that beautiful sun! :-)
bye, ruby.
tc ruby
*Makes Via a spicy Bloody Mary*
(make me one too)
*Makes a pitcher*
you can have mine -- not a fan of tomato juice. but ty molly
I am at college reunion, there was free wine
how about a crossy style martini viajes?
oh-oh. <tip toes out of room>
tell me more...
bye ruby
bye nef
I'm not leaving, jmc; I'd told viaj to look out the window and enjoy the sun earlier
:)
*Keeps pitcher of Bloody Marys for myself and JMC. Hands picky Via a glass of water*
3 ounces of gin or vodka(olives for the gin, pearl onions for the vodka.place booze in large chilled martini glass, then take a sterling silver cocktail sword and impale the olives or pearl onions and gently float in the glass so as to not bruise the alcohol, the lean over the glass and whisper "Antonio Benedetto Carpano" and serve
ah yes, I remember this crossy
the only way to fly:)
could I have the stats for the 9 please? is it a compound word?
af9/72
and yes on compound
thanks crossy! Got it! :-D
yaaa!
Or, as Hawkeye Pierce would say "3 ounces of gin and a moment of silence for the vermouth"
indeed
poor antonio, seem a single bottle of vermouth can last in a home bar for about 20 years:)
i use dto make guests laugh and dispense it with an eyedropper
now,you want to jazz it up a bit,a few drops of orange bitters is very nice
half way, DH is up; time to go get showered and dressed and ready for the day! BBL! Happy Babbling Everybody!
People think that adding something to liquor makes them "cocktails" and not straight booze, which therefore makes them "not an alcoholic" since the common misconception is that only alcoholics drink straight booze.
used tobasco sauce rather than vermough and add it with a soup ladle
Whoo! That would be a Flaming Martini
i am not a alcoholic...i am a drunk,alcoholics go to meetings:)
you certainly should be proud you can make that distinction
why ty br,actually in this town we take turns,so i am not due to be the town drunk till next month
My favorite quote about alcoholics comes from John Bradshaw. Who says that recovery is more than just getting sober. "Take the alcohol out of an asshole and all you have is a sober asshole." : D
lol,i know that one molls, very good
alcohol is a toxic brew that has adversely affected many .... many wives and children have the experience of being punching bags because of that brew
Amen BR. And I know a few of those women. Not a pretty story.
hello dear friends.
howdy trif:)
hello crossy
I am so happy to see BR, molly, and so many other dear ones this morning
we were just discussing the perils of demon spirits
may move on to cigarette widows/widoers next
Hello Trif
anything but weather or politics;)
of course 100 liberals out in the hail is a good start;)
Careful there, Crossy - I am the most liberal person I know, and I live in massachusetts
Nothing wrong with liberals, Trif. I salute you.
how many fingers are you using, molly?
I only do a full military salute Trif. I am a registered independent.
well, thank goodness for that!
And I'll take a liberal over a conservative any day.
but are canadian liberals the same as US liberals?
I'm more liberal than you, I bet, Tri.
Go go liberal and I'll go one further.
the pacifist in me cannot fight with you about that, kaplan....
I will civilly disobey.
mm,think i will back slowly away from the politics and dive in the grid...
now that I have done!
not at all crossy!
I don't know who decided things are on a straight line anyway, with a left, right and center.
yes, it is very silly Kap
Or why center is considered the most reasobale place to be.
What if it's multidimensional?
I dont like the color thing - red states and blue states -- mostly because I cant' remember which one is what.
Or a mobius strip?
definitely mobius
et6 please?
I agree kaplan! what if people feel conservative on spending issues, but liberal on spending ones?
Blue is peacful, red is bloody.
we have those here kap..the 1% lefties, the mushy middlers or n.i,m.b.y.s and the good ole boys cook hot dogs on the overturned shopping car righters..
That's mneumonic.
et6, poetic forever
Liberal and conservative on spending?
ty Molly... that was in the grid recently I think :P you'd think I'd learn...
not personally, kap, but what if someone was? I reject the idea that people can fit completely inside one defined ideaology
I don't have the memory storage to remember all the oddball words in these grids.
just the first he5/12 and I'm off to meet friend for lunch...
I still remember peetweet. That one will stay with me forever.
The thing I can't figure out is the Log Cabin Republicans, but I suppose they would think of themselves as liberal and conservative.
the was the STRANGEST word in the grid once, and I remember the definition, but not the word...
found it! fw!
when I first joined there was a weird word meaning crabgrass, and I used it in the chog because I didn't know that wasn't done.
I remember the definition not the word.
They don't, Trif. Which is why so many so called conservatives are discovered to be adulterers.
As in they don't fit in the "box".
thank you molly.
*groan*
Why is "adultery" so similar to "adulthood?" Do you think that people commit adultery because they have gotten the words mixed up?
They aren't adulterers Molly, they just need someone to carry their luggage!
And then there's "adulterated."
does anyone have the count for the 3rd e down in the second column, please?
I'm sure there's a reason Kap... did you know there are a ton of words derived from salt, including salary, salacious, salad, salami... it seems like anything with "sal" has some historical connection to salt
Sal Hepatica?
Sally Rand? She was quite salty.
Sal Mineo?
the one that always stumped me is - the pope is called the pontif. Why then, is the word for "bullsh*tting" pontificate?
Ha ha ha!
:) awww, just when the conversation is getting salty... have to meet friend or she might beat me up. later all
en6/21?
anyway, does anyone have count for that e?
that's a good one trif
thanks again molly....will look now
If you don't meet her she can't beat you up.
Sily.
got it! Thanks!
I really should go see my friends play production at 2....but it is raining BUCKETS out there....and i am happy and babbling
Honestly, I have to tell you the simplest things!
crossy goes back to his original political affiliation of rooster worship ala J.D sallanger

One of my favorite songs is "the sunny side of the street" sung by Willie Nelson (and I don't care for C-W music or singers; but I love that song by him!)
LOL, Molly!
and Glant, my French is horrid!
I need to fix DH some bkfst, we ran out of Cheerios, so BBS
I don't care for country western either, but Willie transcends that genre.

hi Jeff. Some days I think all the words are like that
Nef, it says: "How's about a nice warm cup of Shut the Hell Up".
LOL!
there are days I could use that shirt (esp. when my daughter gets going! I used to tell her she was wearing my ears out!)

right Tor
apparently I have been gone for too long. had to have NBT explained to me last week. That wasn't around before my hiatus.
interesting
There is a lot of "Babble jargon" here. The monkeys thing is my least favorite.
hokie, not everyone uses that term, so don't think that you were gone too long.
I love my monkeys, Molly! Why don't you like that term?
Because it is SO over done here.
started with trying to monkey the words.
what is that one exactly? monkey typing?
as in monkeying around, I guess.
when you can't get a word so you try different combinations.
I just thought it meant a monkey could just type around and find words.

i need the e in the third row

and the first n in the bottom row
et 6/18 is an archaic word meaning forever jmcnrick
Hello mab! How are you doing? Welcome to the puzzle
he was a sweet gay kid who was rejected by his korean family, loved by his babble family who died way too young
too archaic for me
I think that's en6/21 - engrossed
no 5/10 is plural of the no 4/4 word. Second no 5/10 word is the same as first, but change last consonant.
how awful. i don't know how i missed him.
no5/10 - group of nine
a brief flame mab but a sweet kid
ty torg
still looking for the e
Speaking of people dying young, I attended a benefit tonite for someone who died at 48 due to pancreatic cancer. He was a very close friend of my husband.
The et 6/18 word is e plus the te 5/10 word jmcnrick
life is very short and there's no tiiiiiiiime for fussing and fighting my friend so i will ask you once again. . .
well, congratulations on your new gig, jmn. it is so important.
