hmmm.. he should stop for a long time.. I understand it is touchy.. but he has to be the one to stop
it was 1 bottle of vodka a day and now one can of beer a day. i can see a big improvement. so can the neighbors. it's a start.
it's a step forward.. but why does he need the beer?
damn garlic sauce -- gets me every time!
he becomes an ass and im the only one who lives with him. so i talked to his mom about it and we agreed 1 beer a day.

hi granny
18 days to go....but who's counting? lol
all tiling now done in bathroom
you deserve a break!
jilli, have given myself 8 weeks to revocer....plan to be waltzing by week 4. lol
*recover* even....sigh
sigh, again....why do i always miss the mayonnaise, ai5/10
well, I've been missing the volcano lately -- feel so silly!
yup, know that feeling well.
Erda, on the de9....I can't find the evil part. Help please.
peach, I have the de 9 and I don't see any devil in it
peach, de9, de5, mouth of river, lose last vowel + fourth, then third vowels + ***ty, a god
it's the de7 + two vowels
Hi there jilli, I have the de7-36 but I can't find any thing to add to it.
what jilli sa4
see granny's clue below for the ending
gently pats jilli on back( so as not to hurt her), snap
snap to you too, lol!
over halfway, and so to bed. Have a restful day, granny, and bye all!...*poof
Thanks so very much, Rose and jilli.
night, jilli, sleep well, hun
peach, you finally got there then?
Yes, finally, thanks to you and jilly. I'm assuming the de8 follows the 9. I probably should just go do bed.LOL
peach, de8, plural de7
Thanks, Hon.
np's
coming up for air - have been trying to finish this tonight but not making it, off island tomorrow
may have time when we get back
hi granny, peach, and guess I missed jilli
oh dear, have I missed everyone?
hey flosey
no, dear, just the usual hiccup
hi rose
yes, realized that when last comment took so long
flosey, becoming just a tad anxious and excited.....18 days to go
oh I bet rose, but won't it be great to get it all over with
sure will, hun. starting to limp pretty badly. refusing to use walking stick. i want these muscles to work hard.
isn't that hard on them though?
lol, they gave me a DVD of exercises to do pre-op.....just when do i do them? oin my sleep?
hello, lovely ladies! late to the grid, but I finally made it. :)
hi rbud
hun, have to keep them functioning, otherwise rehab will take too long
hey rbud
oh, good to know that rose, thanks
i plan on being back at work by 8 weeks.
wow, you are one tough lady
tough, but with heart of course
not tough....just very stubborn.lol
sometimes stubborn is good
just had a visit from old friends from back home, on their way through the state after visiting a new great-grandbaby. Lovely woman, 74 and still working, currently in an altzheimer's unit caring for folks younger than herself in some cases, wow.
wow, indeed, rbud.
Hi there, flosey. How are you?
good thanks peach, you?
very tired, but was hoping to finish this tonight - silly me
she was on track to retire earlier until their house burned down, now back to where they were then, and looking at retiring next year. hope so, she deserves a break. :)
oh wow, what a tough break
OK except for allergies and sinus problems....I think most of my friends have the same complaints.
good grief, rbud. the nicest people seem to get the touighest deals.
ah, is it the time of year peach?
I think so, flosey.
peach, my problem is convincing himself to vacuum, NOT sweep. the dust sets me off terribly
then again, having an himself who is willing to clean floors is a bonus.....just not when i am home.
Yes, it does do that. If he insists on sweeping perhaps he could do it when you are out of the house.
understand that rose, I try to get hubby to drive slowly as he approaches the house, even though the driveway is finished with fine stone, there's still dust from it, if windows are open it comes in
shall we use the term ' crusty old bachelor ' to describe him?
Yes, you are fortunate that he does do it. Some men seem to think they are "above" cleaning.
lol, sometimes that does fit
we gave in and have a lovely girl come in for 3 - 4 hours every two weeks, helps a lot
well, flosey, he was a bachelor for nearly 20 years before i married him. he raised 3 kids, as a single dad. my hat is certainly off to him.
ah, hubby was a student when we married
<-- rolling eyes - sure can relate, Hubs would much rather boss everyone else around and have them clean, than lift a finger himself
wow, good for him, not easy for a man to raise kids
lucky you, flosey. my first husband was not a good choice....but we were in love, and idealistic.
we made it to 50 years last summer, and still going strong
he had to pay his own way through U so had to take a few years off to earn some money
WOW!!!!! some marriages are certainly made in Heaven!!
had our ups and downs but survived
flosey, i did everything in my power to keep my first marriage alive....he didn't.
it does take 2, rose
i know that now, but then...it was very frustrating.
now hubby and i both work together, sometimes need to nudge him a little...e.g. bathroom
of course, it's an uphill battle, both have to be prepared to give and take - and work together
I ran from first husband after he became an evil wife-beating drunk. Was only 19 at the time, but I knew it wasn't for me.
oh, for goodness sake, my canary is telling me off, brb. need to cover him for the night. lol
wow rbud, good for you, getting out isn't easy
he was 23 or so. thought he was a nice guy, soooo wrong, sigh...
if I had married at 20, would have been a disaster - my father suggested I wait until 21 which was very wise, didn't last that long
didn't marry this one until I was 34, thought I'd wait till I was sure this time, lol! we have 25 years in now.
Good for you rbud.
wtg rbud, smart lady, and it paid off
I was 29 when we were married
what lovely stories from both of you. current hubby and i have been griends for nearly 28 years, been married for the last 8. i think the trick is...be a friend first, then move deeper if both of you want to do so.
Good advice, rose.
Dear peeps, I'm going to have to go to bed. See y'all later in the day.
of course, he was much more circumspect than i....i had to wait for 6 years before he could commit himself to me.
peach, sleep well, hun
now, I really must get to bed, going to Victoria tomorrow
nite peach, sleep well
hubby and I were married for 13 yrs when he had a 'midlife crisis' and went off the rails.....he sorted himself out and we have been back together nearly 16 yrs - certainly better 2nd time around.
lovely chatting, goodnight now
nite, flosey
great that it worked out diz
night, flosey, sleep well, hun
ah, the midlife crisis, those can sure be rough
and hi diz
LOL rbud....rough ain't the word.
hi granny
BBL dinner time xx
enjoy, diz, see you after the flip tomorrow
on another subject, I got a new(er) truck Monday, am enjoying it muchly, newest vehicle I've ever owned.
needs a little bit of body work along the wheel wells, but hubby has a nephew with a body shop, think it will be near perfect after that.
yay, rbud. that's great news
gosh, it even has working AC, haven't had one with that for years. Yay!
lol, rbud, when i bought my first NEW car a few years back, i was amazed to have working heating.
isn't it amazing just what we will put up with?
no kidding, many's the car I've owned over the years that was only good for getting from point A to point B, and had nothing much else going for it.
lol, rbud, me, too
I just wish they'd never stopped putting in good old wing windows and lower inside vents that actually let in real outside air, like in our old '71 Chevy truck (we still have it)
most dependable vehicle we've owned over the years, never fails to start and run.
something always going wrong with the newer ones we've had.
rbud, we have a saying over here...refers to AC, 4WD4o...4 windows down and 40 mph
heehee! that about describes it! :)
how you going with the grid, hun?
hmmm, now that you ask, I'm looking - have nbt, nbs, and 105 words. Not bad for the late start.
halfway soon.
doing well then. would it help if i listed the 7's and 8's?
well, that would be lovely, ty! :)
at7, artist's studio, past tense of to eat + fib + hook letter
I have the de 7, 9, 8 clued earlier. :)
da7, plural of nerwspaper that comes everyday
ty, got those 2 now
da7, da + mexican river + **nt, past tense of to lend
de7, de + foliage
wow, can't believe I missed that newspaper da7, I kept trying to make something similar but about cows and milking, lol
do7, plural of lace mats
io6, io + past tense of to do + second vowel, plural for io7
ty! - and just found le 5 and 7
so only one 8 and six 7's to go
io6, io + 4th letter + third vowel + last letter + second vowel, past tense and plural for io7 x 2
past tense of to use wireless transmitter
ra7, past tense of to make into a mess...ra5, ra + ***odrome, where bicycle riding takes place
re7, past tense of to grease again
now I would have thought that 2nd ra7 would have had 2 L's - thanks again
lol, so did i, rbud
se7, se + 4th letter + ****d, epic poem
odd one there, ty
va7, va + ***t, public disturbance + **nd, what banks do with money to peeps who want to buy something
and that should be all the 7's and 8's
yay, ty - got all the 7's now, but missed that 2nd somewhere along the way, hmmm, looking
de8, and en8.
2nd 8, I mean
that's it, en8, en + work hard, past tense
woohoo! big (((hugs))) - you're too kind. :)
from top, left-hand e
yay, rbud. night, hun, see you after the flip. ( about 7am babble time)

good morning my babble friends
hey crossy
you know i used to complain in my own mind at least about babble being the same ole, same ole, never updating, never refresing itself, never going for a new look,or new things to do added on but i may have to revise my way of thinking. i am also playing a game on facebook called gardens of time and the thing is in beta mode and stuff seems to be changing every 5 minutes and of course the inherant bugs and glitches that come along with it,so now when i come into babble it is like finding your old pair of comfortable slipper and reading chair exactly where you left it,unchanged and familliar;))
hiya crosshair x
howdy sarah,howdy bojazz
Good morning all.....and yes Crossy.....I agree with you whole heartedly!!
good thoughts, crossy - could apply that to many things
morning flask

hope your weather has caught up - we've been blessed since Feb - very nice
we had a beautiful, warm Feb, a very cold Mar and then endless rain and cold in Apr and May. June has brought a little bit of sun, but not as much as I'd like
at the moment, it's beautiful!
it's been great here and we've been getting rain - hotter this weekend - 93

close enough for jazz!
hehe, son alarm just went off.got him this teenager-proof model. it starts of with a real soft beep-beep-beep and slowly rises in volume to level suitable for rock concerts
you could use a small firecracker with a long fuse!
yay half!
not even a 1/4 yet
no nbt, 8's or 9, though
and it's almost nap time
there is this new alarm clock that is based loosly on that perfection game of old where you had to put the different shaped bits in the holes within a certain time or they would launch everywhere.this clock has 6 different shapes and when the alarm goes off,it launches them all over the room and the only way to shut the ting off is to find all 6 pieces and put them back in the holes and push the button
just got up - would love a nap :)
sounds like fun crossy - my son would have done me in for that ...
that sounds like a torture device! If anybody put one of those near me in the morning, I would pick up the pieces and let the person eat them!
lol
ruby has a nasty streak watch out!!
especially if I'm awakened from a precious nap....grrrrr
"no,no we never disturb naps around here, night sleep is so fragmented the nap is holy and remains apart
exactly!
god bless and forever keep the mid-afternoon power nap
I can't find the middle column i. any clues, pls?

i think she hopes i will grow out of it
lol
and you are trying... sideways! As am I.
long time ago, bojazz, around out 8th aniversary i asked the mrs how she felt about a female companion to spice things up for us.her answer was amazing and i will share it here...
yes?????????????????
she said "go ahead.but there are 2 things you should know..number one,she cannot be better looking than me and number 2 and if she is,i may leave you for the other woman and we will both sue your arse for alimony..so thing some more about this"
it was a long answer, apparently

Good day Sprite & Crossy. May I step in?
on a whim yesterday after an appt, took her for a bite of lunch a a family eatery and we sat there ,ate fish and chips and played tic-tac-toe with the kids crayons over iced tea:)
howdy scwabby
oh yes, same here! My love and I laugh so much together, and often about nothing really. Just being foolish. You know, when your kids start rolling their eyes...
hello everyone
of course, Scrabs! Lovely to have you. How are you holding up?
Hi Annie + Bobby
Scrabbs, I am reading The Murder of the Century and it is great reading
hi Annie :)
Yay, Annie!
is it a detective, Annie, or something historical, or both?
hi sprite and crossy
howdy annie
Bobby waves hi
I have 50 pages to go and love it. I don't want to finish the book. That is the sign of a great book.
*waves hi back to Bobbie*
Historical fiction based on a true crime story in New York City in 1897. Actual documents were used in creating the book.
lol sprite whenever we all go out as a family,my son will often pretend other couples are his family to avoid embarrasment
Scrabbs recommended the book...it is about a grisly murder and the tabloid war that ensued from it. I have read about 70 pages and I am into it
crossy notes the book for the mrs who is a true crime book lover
same here, lol, crossy. And they can look at eachother and shake their heads over us... and we just fold and laugh and laugh...
wow, sounds like a must-read
There are several themes--murder, newspaper battles/development, the NY Police Dept, immigrants in NYC, the start of forensic crime studies, etc.
As soon as Scrabbs described the book, I went onto Amazon and bought it.
oh lovely! Yes, must read that one.
Name that proper noun...Mr. John
Joseph Pulitzer and William Randolph Hearst are involved in creating newspaper powers.
dilton?
Elton! Sir Elton! True name = Reginald Dwight.
ding ding ding
ah, sorry. I SO want dilton to be a word. WTG Scrabs :D
lol sprite, was in the pet food asile the other day in wally-mart and some disco tune came over the speakers,so of course i turned up my collar and did my best john travolta saturday night fever dance all the way down to pharmacy:)
:D :D :D Oh yes! Love it.
I am leaving Saturday morning for 5 days of hiking and kayaking in Pennsylvania--Pine Creek Gorge--the "Grand Canyon of the East."
Silly Crossy!
very nice scrabbs

oh and for those who were following the crossy toothpick in the foot saga, after a month course of keflex pills the size of golf balls and soaking an excised crater in the bottom of my foot,i am happy to report that all is well and i am just left with a sensitive spot and a scat on the bottom of my foot
scar
am glad, crossy. Nasty thing :( Now keep on taking care of it until it is back to normal.
next person that drop and leaves a tooth pick on the floor,i will take it and turn their eyes into cocktail snacks

hi all
hi jmc
morning, jmc!
hey jmc :)
hi jmc :)
hi annie!
and ty sprite it would have taken me a while to think that that was a word!
hi dawg :)
i find it interesting that i am more likely to want to use a word in a comment once i have seen it in the grid
:) glad it helped!
Good Morning Everybody. How are you all doing today? :-)
hehehe yes indeed... it is like not thinking of the elephant in the corner of the room.
:)
hi nef
hi Nef :)
hi hursh
hi Nef and Annie
hi Nef, hi hursh
hi
hey Nef and Hursh :)
hi hurshy
hi hurshy
phantom: lilies
and lipid
hi pab
hurshy, did you go to the interview yet?
yes, it was tuesday
interview?
how did it go?
I have to laugh; I was working and working on that far right L when sprite helped me out! :-)
*grins* Glad to be of service, Nef :D
I hope it went well and good luck to you
sprite is so helpful!
Ooh! Interviews?
i had a job interview. it wasn't that great. there were 3 people conducting it which was a bit overwhelming. i felt like a deer in headlights and couldn't think.
argh that is so ugly, hursh. 3 to 1 is aweful.
(((hurshy))) was it a job you were very interested in?
oh, medium, nef. it had certain advantages. but i don't mind if i don't get called back.
hurshy, they ganged up on you but you are a bright girl...I am sure that came through
gosh i know what you mean. . .i had a job interview where i was interviewed by six board members, did a role play, and THEN was interviewed by 20 staff members!
r's ravaged!
jeezzzz jmc... that is downright cruel
hold out for your dream job if you can!
rightly rocking, dawg
geez, that interview sounds more like an inquisition
wtg lbd
i have trouble conversing with people i've just met under any circumstances... so it's not exactly my strong suit to interview.
no it is just quakers have this odd ideas about hiring
I was interviewed several times by 3-4 people for the nurse manager job. I ended up so confused I didn't know who they were for several weeks! :-)
hursh, if they are looking for someone comfortable with that amount of pressure and stress, the job is not healthy for you. And if they don't, they will know how to read people who are overwhelmed by it and judge accordingly.
lol, nef.
i felt like mitt romney - stiff and no personality
haha i am sure you were better than that
i think the only interview that was close to that was at the university. interviewed by the staff of the office/program, then the deans of student affairs, then then hiring committee. oh and some students.
*hugs hursh* I liked you very much, when we met, right away.
but sprite we knew each other from here so that helped :)
(BTW, I'm back working very part time as Nurse Manager; but only for certain functions and policies; and work I can do at home. Brand new postion, just announced this week)
yay nef!
true, but still :) You were awesome. Radiating intelligence. So their loss if they cannot see through the very understandable stiltedness.
are you happy with doing that, Nef?
oh great, Nef, congrats :)
that's cool nef
good luck, Hursh. if they don't see your strengths... pooh on them! their loss.
i have interviewed dozens if not hundreds of people hursh and after a while you see beyond the interview nerves
i guess but if the nerves really prevent you from giving them the answers and information they need... i dunno. whatever. it's all good.
It's expanding, they are moving; and this will make it easier for the clinic manager with all that going on. My job is to do the grants and keep them in compliance with all the laws. *Very* part-time; because I can't le*** DH alone much right now.
its nice it is something you can do some from at home
sounds like a good match, nef
hurshy, everytime you go for an interview, remember that they are just as human as you are, and don't you dare sell yourself short! YOU are a fabulous person; and We all know that!
amen to that, Nef
hear hear nef!
ditto
ditto
thanks. i was thinking all these good preparatory things before i went in, and being myself, and all that, but then, it just flew out the window.
yeah well it would with most people, hursh, when faced with a 3-man commission. Don't worry. You will be hired by a company that appreciates what you have to offer. If it is not them, it is their loss.
When I was looking for a job; I kept telling myself that I knew I was a good nurse; I may not have been an expert at the area of nursing I was interviewing for; but I could learn! Keep telling yourself that too, hursh.
it's my same "company" :) yale.
i think i do better with small businesses.
i write a small note or one word cue somewhere unobtrusive and look at it. . . for class it is WAIT:why am I talking. . . .for interviews it is FAB (no explanation needed) and peek at it as needed
That's good! You know the "company!" :-)
then they should know your value in your work with them.
it's big, though, dawg - the people who interview you for one job don't know you from your other job.
well they know you work for yale so you're not likely to be a dummy
if they are interested, they know where to find some more info on you then, hursh. And it they are not, booh for them.
you'd be surprised, jmc...
no, but they at least have some of your work records, right?
haha!
but they know people you know. and one big thing about internal interviews, you know the policies and all the icky stuff they'd have to teach and train a newbie on as well as the job.
it is all relative hursh. . . when i went to rice we thought the jocks were dummies but in comparison to jocks at other schools. . .
yes but i suspect a lot of the other candidates are internal also.
Possibilities, but you gave it a try, if you get the position AWESOME, if not, it's a good experience and you dusted off your resume for the next time.
and since some of them ARE dummies, you will look better anyway. Trust yourself. You will find a good job.
yes.
more phantoms: drive, derive
and drivel!
43 remaining...bbl time to send hubs off to work.
bye for now, dawg :)

lovely poem, crossy! lol
? what poem?
did not need the rack of ribs and bbqafterall molly, lots of wind, lots of rain,a smattering of hail but the twister was not meant to be
OOPS, i meant to post it like a poem: did not need the rack of ribs and bbq after all molly, lots of wind, lots of rain, a smattering of hail but the twister was not meant to be
ode to ribs, how i love thee, with a loving coating of hickory bbq sauce,i kiss you with the flames from my hands to your tender skin as you give up your succlent flest to my lips..
lol
flesh
lawdy lawd ... lol
hehge
darn tiny keyboards and my paws as big as bread and butter plates:(
are you playing on a puter or a watch? lol
do not think it would make a difference
and a moment of silence my fellow bibliophiles for Ray Bradbury who passed recently...
problems is that copy of his book i want is going up in value as we speak
darn celebrities and their insistence on dying before our collections are done! lol
e
indeed!
how dare they?
no matter early hardcover arkham house stuff is tough to fill anyways
oh yeah, I've never seen them in the "cheap" zone
just have to keep cruising garage sales and hope
2 years ago i saw bradburys dark carnival in g+ no dust cover, but the thing was full of library stamps and a card pocket and 2 sloppy book plates for 300
i kind of want a nice clean f grade
$300 is about right fair for an ex-lib. those things norally go for a lot more
libraries are great things, but i have seen many, many rare books ruined by some librarian with an ink pad fetish
someone published a book once called Librarians as Enemies of Books, about that same issue
indeed gwen a clean personal copy no dust jacket in f grade is hitting 1500 or more:(
as a dealer i avoid acquiring ex-libs unless the book is already rare
i saw a first ed of catcher in the rye ruined with ink stamp frenzy once
then i sell to both readaers and collectors. readers are generally happy with a Poor copy if it is priced reasonably
indeed,if i just want to read it,i do not care if it is a side tracked return with the cover torn off it ten years ago
you should never buy a book with the cover torn off. do not ecnourage the thieves.
in my collection,i have two copies of stephen kings book skeleton crew.one that is read to tatters, tape holding the front cover on and a old knee bandage holding the back cover on,writing in the margins and one pristine copy.on a dare,my mrs had me send both to him for a autograph as he has said many times that he loves to see a book that has been ridden hard..well both came back after 6 months.he had signed the ratty one and on the inside of the cover of the good one he wrote"send this one along when it looks like the other-S" was the only time he ever responded to me
man has a wicked sense of humor
i know gwen.have not done it often
i have heard he is a pretty nice guy. probably the reason it took six months is that he lets his mail pile up for a while, at least some of it, then tackles all the fan mail at once
most likely
also, when he signs a ratty copy, he is not increasing its value quite as much as if he signs a Fine copy
so now i read the clean copy and no one touches the ratty dog eared taped one lol
life is funny
btw, the torn off cover thing applies to paperbacks, not hardcovers ...
thats what i was talking about, softcovers
yep, okay
dn how they process returns on the hardcovers
with a hardcover you send back the entire book. now, you have heard of remainders?
price of things,if i sold new hardcovers,i would want them to supply them all on spec
i have indeed
all the major book distributors allow returns under certain conditions, so it is sorta like buying on spec
near me there is a huge ramainder store, and when i have some loose change i buy a few remainders, very carefully, of course
do not care for that "certain conditions" though
well, there are sometimes titles that can't be returned. a common example are textbooks where the margin is like 5% (most new books the margins is 40%)
if it sits on my shelf for a year,i call that a condition lol
40% :((((
also, after a year, that might be too long, you are now the happy owner in perpetuity lol
guess i am too used to conveinience retail 80-120% lol
why i handle used books only, apart from my own self-published titles of course
120% margin is impossible. i mean margin (discount) not markup!
indeed, now that i am among the ranks of the semi-retired,my long dream of a used book store may come to fruition
gwen..those kricket lighter all corner stores sell for $1.50 or $1.75? we pay 33 cents for
now that is a margin;)
i am talking profit margin, not discount margin
argh, can't believe I missed one of my favorite Scrabble words in here.
what one?
ad 4 &5
ty hokie
aired
a tool for shaping timbers for log homes
oops
bad hokie
if i had an open shop i would definitely stock $0.33 items that I could sell for $1.50! (nnot including weed, lol)
your icon is adorable, hokie!
thanks, just a random picture from the web.
aired is not in the grid, you are safe lol
lighters,penny/5 cent candy/small nail clippers..most of that crapola they jam right at the register for impulse buys for those waiting in line will all be over 100%
thats why wally-mart does it the same way
lol, it's in the grid in my head.
yep. near me there is still one used book store and they have a small portion of those items: bracelets, webkinz, etc
and they are all clustered at the check-out counter area
yup fancy book marks with your name on it or kittens or puppies etc
ruler magnifiers
clip on book lights
When our Woolworths closed down our local one was taken over by Poundland. We were very snobby about it. Who would go in there? It is PACKED every day I am in there all the time!
WD-40, air fresheners, you name it. no, that's at the carwash
poundland, that's sounds violent lol
I've heard of Woolworths, but not Poundland.
must be a canadian chain that we don't have down here
i swore on a stack of bibles deeha, that i would avoid the wal-marts as they are hard on mom and pop stores, but at least once a month i find myself in there for one thing or another
we do not have poundland
Think it is Britsh and as it says every thing costs £1!!
all our woolworths cloed 15 years ago
mall-wart is the most evil corporation on the planet. please do not shop there!
it bothers mer as well gwen
oops, i meant UK. missed your flag, deeha!
Poundland is to the UK what Dollar Stores are to the US
I only go there if I'm nearby and really need something.
Walmart took over one of our chains - cant remember which- but they kept the original name
we have dollar stores up the wazoo. dollar castle, family dollar, etc, etc. everything is cheap plastic crap made in china
i agree gewn, they treat employees like cattle and 99.98% of the cruft comes fro 3rd world countries where people get used for a dollar a day
You are right about dollar stores Gwen.
i have sold books on the evils of mall-wart. and i read one of them (which is a rare event, for me, lol)
True - but times are hard!! Anyway must dash got to get ready to go out. Bye all poof
last time i was in wal mart i spent a half hour looking for something made in canada
haha
they have more evil policies than any corporation, and that includes AOL, Microshaft, and ATT! lol
so i left and bought my wood framed futom from a local mill, who uses local products and employs my neighbours
futon
same with my mission bed
i buy local as much as possible. we have a wonderful local grocery chain where i buy nearly everything, and i get the rest from costco, one of the most ethical corporations on the planet
nearest costco is hour away from me so i do not food shop there
I love Costco, but I have to drive 35 min. to one and 45 min. to the other.
Sadly, the problem is, most people don't care about corporate greed and their crappy corporate policies. People will shop anywhere they can get a good deal.
i use metro(formerly A7P0
and i get rice from this tiny chinese food store where most ofthe staff don't speak english
I've heard they're building one very close next year or so. Yay!
A&P*
my mission in life (among several thousand) is to spread the word about mall-wart and costco
Costco, and stores like that, are great if you are shopping for a family of 5. Not so great if you are shopping for two. Unless you have a huge budget that allows freezer storage and pantry storage.
ok,tell us why costco is so much better..sell me
here you pay incredible amounts for manufactured things, e.g. aluminum foil, soap powder, etc. but food is very cheap.
yeah, i live alone, so i only buy a few things at costco, like soda pop (my major vice) and the occasional DVD
and mthere is no real choice
the CEO of costo is hated by other CEOs because he takes a reasonable salary.
you can only stop brushing your teeth or washing clothes
costco is not open late on the weekends so their staff can have a life
I even love Costco's baked goods, but I will have to split it with a friend or it will get thrown away here.
costco operates on a 12% markup, or less, except for their own store brand, which they sell for a 14% markup
That is the problem with Costco and BJs - we don't need all that stuff at one time!
Costco has amazing baked goods. I do the same thing (split them) Hokie.
costco pays a living wage
costco staff, in my personal experience, and friendly and helpful
LOL! The closest Costco that I can find is 6 hours from me... *snaps fingers* darn the bad luck! But I do not step foot in WallyWorld more than once a year, and that's pushing it.
To balance the markup comment, Costco also charges a membership fee, which allows them to operate at a lower markup.
yes, the one downside is that costco is a "warehouse" store. you can't buy just one onion, you have to buy a 5-pound sack of onions (for example)
well spoken gwen, may have to research them a bit
oh,bulk only??
costco and sams club (which is a mall-wart company) both charge an annual membership fee.
and BJ's
That's why I said they are great if you are shopping for a family of five.
i can see it now..wife would have me spending 2500 dollars on non perishables and shopping twice a year
when i joined costco i looked at the one item i planned to buy there, which was my OTC allergy pill, and after joining for $50, I calculated that I would still save money on my allergy pill, so I joined
i also buy toilet paper (something like 30 rolls for $9) and office supplies there
they have fairly cheap toner cartridges, but not for every printer ...
The problem with cost effective grocery shopping is that most people don't have time to go to one place for one value and another place for another value and yet another place for value number three.
well, there may be something to this..assuming you need a skid of peanut butter or 500 cans of tuna or a 10 kg can of mustard;)
molly, yeah, it's sometimes kind of annoying, since i have 4 or 5 places where i get my groceries and stuff now ...
Consumer Reports gave Costco the top grade. They are honest, don't overprice and worth the trip.
Also, Costco rotates their stock. So the deal you find there this week may not be there next week.
well, not everything is huge quantities only, i mean, they sell individual DVDs and books and bags of snack food
Not quite that bad crossy - 2 pks, 3pks and 4pks the rule
Hello... are we discussing efficient grocery shopping? That I was not expecting...
molly,my mother in law drives me nuts with that.she will go on one side of town for the bread on sale, the other side for tuna etc.make 15 stops to do the weekly shopping and she calls it a saving.i say"but you spent 20 dollars in gasoline doing it and 4 hours of time"
hi people. Had to chime in.
yeah, costco stocks only what it feels are good products that they can get for good prices. so they sometimes have the Coca-Cola made with cane sugar, and sometimes they don't
VIa, you never know with this place.
i like the cane sugar pops
very true
today is full of surprises -- I woke up with my lower lip as big as my head
oh, no!
that would be a surprise
how big is your head? oh, i mean, hope you get better soon!
Gwen, I just saw your profile and checked out your web page. Do you have Ancient Greek texts?
my mom and I borrowed Costco card from her friend when I moved into my new place so I could stock up on cheap basics... once every six months is kind of enough for Costco I think
We are only 2 so we go about every 3 mys. There clothes are good, their meat id 5x better than our supermoarkets and I know how to butcher.
okay, I guess it's more like the size of my nose.
god, you can use the keyword search and just put in greek. but let me check ...
I love Costco. We pay the $100 membership fee but we get a reward check every year from Costco and one from AMEX (Costco's credit card) that more than makes up the fee. We also have used their travel many times. So much less expensive than regular travel sites.
mys = months
Via...allergy to something?
Ah, I see. I wasn't sure about that.
well, I had a spot in my lip for weeks that would start to heal and then I'd accidentally bite it again, and then I guess it got infected or something.
Maybe rinse with peroxide?
they said hold a hot wet cloth to it a few times a day, and they gave me antibiotics
Habes, you must spend a lot of money at Costco. I've never heard of the rewards check thing.
Oh, you have been to the doctor. Good.
When I was in NY i was a Sams club member. They stunk and when they renewed my membership without even a notice I left. Costco will tell you it is due but not do ir automatically. It was extended on our next trip.
I look hella-cool now though. I suspect this will be the hottest fashion trend in 2013. People will be getting surgery to inflate half of their lower lip.
gwen or anyone else,do you know the site where you can join up and help translate old greek scroll fragments?? i had it once and lost it
Cool. We can call it the Half-Jolie look.
i have a few books on Greek language and grammar for bible study, that's it
Wish we had costco here. Stuck with Sam's. Still, it's worth it for some things
exactly!
Try Pegasus
My friend & I split a Costco membership and we just upgraded to the premium membership to get the checks. We have spent a lot of money there.
cross, sorry, don't know that site! you tried googling < translate old greek scroll fragments > ?
Mag, Sam's is exclusive to some areas due to the WalMart pull in the area.
People may regret the surgery once they realize how challenging it is to eat. But sometimes you just gotta suffer for fashion.
sam's club is evil! it is an arm of mall-wart! (okay, i'm done, maybe) lol
Hokie, that is the way for smaller families to get value at Costco.
Yep. We're just close enough to Arkansas to qualify for that.sigh
I have bought a set of patio furniture and an embroidery machine as well as a million smaller things. ;-)
well, i'm off for now. got books to ship to customers. toodle-oo
I'm buying Serta mattresses at Sam's later today. They are a good deal.
Years ago when we only had Sam's they made me mad because you had to be a business to get a membership. Then the BJs opened and they would take anybody's money!

okay, that was weird. it was returning within the chat box and didn't look like it was taking.I guess it was.
Via are you talking like Bill Cosby's friend, Old Weird Harold?
leva
I'm just not talking
ty owl!
Or was it Mushmouth? Yeah, Mushmouth.
magmom, we bought a Serta mattress at a Sam's in 1996 for our guest bedroom and it's still on there! I was actually just looking a couple of weeks ago at mattresses on Costco's site. They will deliver them.
Try this: http://www.lexilogos.com/english/greek _ancient_dictionary.htm
When our Costco opened they gave free one year memberships. We switched from Sam's then and never went back. We do spend a lot there because I buy everything there. Televisions, DVD players, clothing, and groceries. They also have cheaper medications. And, now they refill your ink cartridges for around $6. You can
Sorry, you can't beat that price.
Sorry, not Pegaus; Perseus: http://www.perseus.tufts.edu/hopper/co llections
nope godhaab,it was a site where you we given untranslated scroll pages and fragments and you were helping a museum decipher them
They have changed their main page, but navigate a bit and you will find what you are looking for
yw!
Oh, I don't know that one.
okay, must go -- back later
happy hunting all
Is this it? http://ancientlives.org/
they gave you a translator index showing the greek letters and our modern alphabet..was great fun
THATS IT!!
they used the word "transscribe" not translate..not wonder i could not find it
hi again all, back home for a bit before going out to the farmers market!
there we go,the ultimate jig saw puzzle:))
howdy suze
only with the marvel of computer can a average joe like me be trascribing greek texts thousands of years old for a good cause:)

*halo*
howdy amelu:)
hi crossy!
sheesh, 69 left and am mired... *sigh*
i have found 4 words in last 30 minutes:(
I share your pain. ~:o/
phantom "zealot"
there are way too many almost words today...
that is usually a sign of the evils lurking within
can you clue the 8 that is not a muscle?
yep, evil would be one of them...
it's an en
more?
nope,good for now ty
:o)
got it ty
yvw
now all that is left are 100 four letter babblets;(
that should go rather quickly...
indeed, will just let the cat walk back and forth across the keyboard for an hour...
LOL! Yes. I need to turn it over to my 22 month old grandson...
yup, tell him to type any 4 letters he wishes and hit enter and to do it 300 times
I think I'd just let him type and I'd be in charge of entering... he has a nasty little habit of prying the keys off of laptops.
mm,good plan then
almost 2..have you warned mom and dad to batten down the hatches? hehe
he has an older brother who will be 6 in July, so I think they think they're prepared, LOL!
good stuff
Little do they know... *rubs hands in glee* bwa-ha-ha-ha-ha.
yes..the teens....
i have an 18 year old who grunts at me unless it has to do with money ro the car, then he is a master spokesman
or
one granddaughter will be 12 in July, other will be 9... my son had one attitude episode that I let last about 3 weeks before I nailed him on it and we haven't had any problems since...
he was about 15
funny kid though,he had weekly allowance from me and was picking up odd jobs.now he wanted a laptop, but he had to budget clothing out of the funds(tryingf to teach the boy budgeting) well! last 3 month the kid wore rags and got his new laptop 2 days ago..was quite funny
watch that 12 year old grand daughter, she will have mom going insane any time now
Amelu, you have the right idea. So many parents just put up with that stuff, instead of confronting it head on.
hi just started - I don't see how I can possibly get 200 words out of this grid
said I wasn't sure which of us would be more surprised when he was picking himself up off the floor, me or him. why, he asked. because if you keep that attitude up I'm gonna SNAP and we'll be lucky if you keep all your teeth. He pondered for a moment and said Sorry mama, I didn't realize I've been acting that way.h
one thing i learned is say what you mean and with it comes to punishments and removal of privilages for offences, never relent..ever! once it is applied let it run the selected time
good stuff amelu
Yes, mom is already borderline, LOL! She says "I never acted like that! Where did she get it from???" We just laugh and roll our eyes.
Harry, the grid is evil. Run while you still can.
the parents curse...it works
already 52 in. too late
run harry! run! save yourself!!
heehee....it can't be _that_ bad, can it? I mean, we survived 8 years of George W Bush
I"ve been here for almost 4 hours (sheesh, time flies!) and only have 170... only about 18 words in the last hour...
Yes, and are somehow surviving the Obama years.
not all of us are surviving
ill take obama, you can have our premier dad lol
One thing i learnt from my teenage son (he isnow 24) is not to rise to his level.Don't get angry and end up grounding them for the rest of their life time!!!
This is true Harry. I should have chosen my words more carefully.
btw, all of you talking about teenage kids - I'm sticking my head in the sand. tyvm
Oh wow, if I could package him up, I would FedEx him up there overnight.
then you get our pm
and our taxes
No thanks to both.
but hands off our health care!
That's interesting because your health care comes from your taxes.
it does...a catch 22 it is
woohoo blacked out the Z

Good job, harry!

And the thunderstorms approacheth. Glad I left work early today.
here too
I'd much rather be home, with a pot of vegetable soup working than poking along in rush hour traffic in the rain.
ya think!?!
I know people who commute an hour or more to work. I refuse to do that. I have better things to do with my life.
amen
And they all say that it's much cheaper to live where they live. Well yeah, but they are spending everything they save on housing on gas and wear and tear on their cars. Not to mention the stress.
you can make more money but no one can get anymore time. it's precious!
( says the wise old sage)
I agree whole heartedly, Hego.
Afternoon all. May I please have a clue for any io's except the last one? Thanks
second le 5/10 ??
io- what they do to salt
the rest all start with the same 4 letters. to do with the stuff they put in salt.
Peach, use the highest value tile for three of them
sam le five sounds like king of the jungle
SMom, add a consonant to the one before it
if i had the one before it................

now, i feel better :)
was that about the grid, or something else?
*Pats Lillann on the head and fixes her a drink*
i have cheese & crackers, would that help?
my daughter
hi molly and hurshy
<---Is afraid to ask
what did she do?
(fools rush in where angels fear to tread)
she's been trying for a fight all afternoon when we were out shopping...@whatever@ is her favourite word to anything i said, crashing the shopping trolley into the back of my chair, walking off with it when i wanted to put shopping in it...being sarcastic, nasty and a right brat!!
how old is she?
need food brb.
let her poor arthritic grandad bring the shopping bags from the car, because she was too busy holding my old cat who doesn't like to be held by her...
That kind of crap would have her grounded for a week if I were her mother. Especially crashing the cart into your chair.
nearly 13...going on 17!!!
i've told her she is grounded for a week
i've also told her that her horse riding lessons have now finished!!
Good for you Lilliann. She and her nasty attitude can have a lovely time together in her room.
Double good for you.
she went last night, and they charged her £11 for 30 mins instead of £14 for an hour, all because there were no other riders.how does that work?? she is doing the same thing every week and riding the same horses that she complains about!
Teenagers can be miserable and ungrateful. I'm sorry she's got you so stressed out.
I went through the teenage thing with my daughter. Now she's 33 and has a daughter herself. It can be brutal, but won't last forever
she's now upset and crying in her room!! i'm sorry but i'm the bad one yet again, even though her dad and grandad who take her riding say thet it is a waste of money, unless you have a horse stabled there and i'm the one who gets all her bad attitude when nothing goes her way or i tell her off. i have enough to cope with and am sick of the swearing and nasty attitude towards me...all because i'm being the parent!!
You are not the bad one.
this is why i have cats.
that's just the way it is Lili and there's really not much you can do about it to make it stop. It will pass and you two will be loving buddies at some point in the future
keep on being the parent lil.... i had to be the parent.. my husband weas either drunk of hung over.. his parents were way to soft and mine were not here..... so i was the bitch.................... and they are all so grateful now.... first of all, that i let them live and second , that i made them into responsible, caring human beings it was tough, but i proudly wear my pink bitch hat that they gave me and laugh as they are being "tough" on their own kids
Wise words SMom. I salute you and your pink hat.
pronounced on each one of therm... my "mother's curse".... ''I HOPE YOPU HAVE KIDS JUST LIKE YOU!!' AND THEY DID-lol
hurshy, there is wisdom in that statement.
i know bichon, i was the same with my mam, as in not getting along all the time, but i never swore...didn't dare but i was 16/17 and i was the best of friends with my mam from 23 and still on going
Lili, times are different now. I hate to say it, but children aren't nearly as afraid of our parent's might as we were when we were little. That's why you have to ignore the swearing and persevere
sorry, am reading throught he chat..my daughter just came and gave me a hug and we've talked a little bit but i've sent her to bed as it's late and she needs to sleep and i can't talk over everything tonight...
We used to make up and I would always tell her that Mothers and daughter fight and make up.
For all the hard times, like Lilliann is describing, kids also bring an immense amount of love and joy. I could never say I would rather have animals than kids.
I don't know if anyone here watches "Mad Men". The mother is a real cold hearted bitch and she and her daughter Sally, now 12 are always going at it. Sally got her period and who did she run to for comfort, yes, Mom
I said that half-jokingly Molly. But, pets are never mad at you, want to drive the car, or go to college
I hear you Bich.
I'm glad she came and gave you a hug, Lilliann. Better to end the night that way and sort things out later.
just read sammy, and good for you and so glad your bairns turned out well, but with you, they were bound too..i just hope that my daughter does too...my hubby works away alot and my family live the otherside of the country and my parents live in france so my f.i.l has her for every week but she is good for him and loads of people tell me how caring and polite she is and she iseven teaching his elderly neighbout how to read and write...so it just shows that i have bought up a lovely caring daughter...just not to me
yay lil....... its worth the time and trouble huh?
sammy, my mam always said"whatever turns around will come around, and your children will be just the same!! boy was she right!! lol
yup
I'll bow out of this one now.
i wouldn't give her up for anything....but sometimes, it would be nice to have a little bit of quiet!
an6 pls
hi all

anymore clues needed?
I'm still trying to figure out how Regina's father got to Wonderland. I'm sure that is going to play in next season.
season 2 is gonna be more explosive now that magic is back
they have cast some actress i forget who to play Ariel lol
You are so Disney-fied. The Little Mermaid is not Ariel. Not in the real story. : )
i'm trying to think what film is coming out the end of this month and it was a cartoon i used to watch when i was younger...memory gone again!!
i didnt say it was real.
but in the show she will be Ariel.
all the characters are disney-related. Disney owns ABC so..
same thing as the 7 dwarfs names.. doc, grumpy etc
ahhh remembered..." top cat"!!
oooh this weekend i need to go see the Alien prequel!
did you get @topcat@in the states?
do 7, pls
i've never heard of it lol
do7.. what elderly ladies like to knit
or crochet.
you are too young Cos
do7 are the lacy paper things you put cups, and plates on
Oh also, technically Archie is older than Marco as Jiminy was older than Gepetto.
i watched heckle and jeckle....
never heard of 'topcat' cos??
lemme google topcat one sec
We got Top Cat in the States. Cos is too young to remember it.
it had officer dibble in
ah ive watched top cat. i have it on vhs actually. forgot about it
he always wanted to catch top cat
i take it you're not then molly :)
i need to go dust them off lol.. top cat, heckle and jeckle, droopy etc
i loved wally walrus
Nope, I'm not too young to remember Top Cat.
cos, how can you forget about 'topcat'?
:) molly
its been years since I saw them... i like the older cartoons better.. 1980's and earlier.
pink panther was one of my faves as a kid because they rarely ever spoke lol.. same for tom and jerry
wally walrus?he wasn't in top cat!lol
Cos, did you see what I said about Archie and Jiminy? Do you think now that the curse is broken, the characters will be their real age?
this was back when captions weren't commonplace
i know he wasb't he was in droopy
i like 'beepbeep'
ooooh didnt see that molly.. excellent theory.
who cringed when Cos said 'older - 1980s and earlier'?
everyoneloves the Roadrunner!
The only character who aged was August, because he wasn't in Storybrooke. We will see, I guess.
we didn't have captions in our cartoons!
Oh and Emma, same reason.
yay lyn :)
emma wouldn't age, she was born 28 years ago the same time the curse took place
me lyn and when he said captions!!
duh never mind.. i misread what you said.. sorry!
top cat was yellow wasn't he
I'm hopeful we'll see Maleficient again in flashbacks.
I think it will be explained away that the characters didn't age because of the curse. Otherwise, they would all have to wear "old" makeup. That still doesn't explain why Marco is older than Jiminy.
maybe when Jiminy became a cricket he stopped aging/
That will probably be the explanation.
no, he was a browny colour
brb MIL is here to drop off money
tc cos
any clues needed?
not for me thanks Lil, just listed
i'm just watching 'biggest loser, USA' and cant believe how much wieght this guy has lost

Damn, now I have the Top Cat theme in my head.

are you in SF yet?
yw
bbiab
no, won't move until end of July, bichon
don't even have a place there yet.... aaaaaggghhhh!!!!
are you going to live in SF? What area? Son and family live in the Bay Area
I am looking in Inner Richmond as first coice due to proximity to what I need, then maybe cole valley or inner sunset
then nob and russian hills
would love pacific heights, but could only get a dmall place there on what I would prefer to pay
Everything is pricey in SF. Son lived in OUter Sunset and in Glen Park.
outer sunset is reasonable (in SF terms) but would just like to be walking distance to shops/restaurants, etc
found a winner yesterday, bichon... hold a sec and I'll post it for you
Yes, he didn't have a car then and spent a lot of the time on the L Judah
here ya go
"This is a beautiful in-law units that was remodeled in 2008 and is in excellent move in condition. The unit features 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, 1 living room with hardwood floors. Both rooms have great views into a beautiful shared backyard. However, there is no kitchen so tenants will have to make other arrangement."
Glen Park is near BART
gues how much
guess
Wait, no kitchen. Is that a joke
no
o joke
no joke
I would not be astounded as to the price.
other arrangements? bbq on the porch?
so how much for this lovely unit with no kitchen
$1700/month
Is your work near BART
takeit!!!
but HH... also no fridge, sink, etc, let alone a stove!
That's not that much for SF, but no kitchen?
With a view of someone else's back yard ..
I will drive, walk, or bike, bichon
I'm joking :)
for 1700 I can get you a tent and a campstove
it is low for SF... but no kitchen!!!
and go live in golden gate park - there are lots of colorful personalities
so what deal can I get if I am willing to live without a toilet?
heehee
If you can get to work on BART, then living further out wouldn't be bad
Peeing is overrated
this is why we have windows!
But, no place in the Bay Area is cheap.
I work all hours, bichon, so car is essential... I will pay more rather than spend an hour commuting
I wouldn't mind paying more, but I'd have to have a bathroom and a kitchen [however small]
will give up space to live closer to work... I hate working 60+ hours, then commuting another 10-12/week
yes... bathroom and kitchen are essential
ok, now bbiab
ok first pass through the list done. 14 left

I love being at the beach
wish I lived near the ocean
love it.
*soul
I've never gotten the sand out of my shoes
As a friend of mine would say, the ocean is where I get next to myself.

my wife would never let us live at teh ocean - she grew up on the jersey shore and is terrified of sharks
Isak Dineson- I have that quote on a mosaic
I have eczema. Salt water from the ocian always relieves it [especially the Dead Sea]

Clue for the de9?
will have to list
shoulder muscle + two vowels
de 7 / 9 / 8 related combo - type of muscle
I am on the iPad. Too hard to list. I am just begging for clues!
I will monkey. Thanks uusue2 and wvteach!
de 7 - name of muscle - de 9 - 2 vowels at end - de 8 - plural
Got it!
yay, eiei!
ok, nbs, nbt, and more than half way. About as much as I can expect most days.
good going sue
would someone clue the se 7 please
got distracted by video clips... NOW I will list
hola ruru
don't have it, ruru
hi kj
se7 like the se6.21 before it, change last letter to spanish aunt t**
hi all. clue for the 9 plz?
thank you LB.. wow.. I couldn't find it
thanks, lbd!
you almost done DOC?
de9 = shoulder muscle + two vowels
de 9 - clued at 8:11
40 left ru
how about the last se6?
like the fancy wine glass kje R****
ty got the 9.
ty
can someone clue me the other 8 please? and i need all the 7s except the muscle one.
youch... missed a lot of i's
easy ones too
fish smacked
en8, mkg - en + work _ past tense
first di5?
di + not live
the second di will vibrate with excitment
ty ru
and I had the 2nd....
yup... knew you'd find that one right away
:D
prob still not as fast as you
OK, just had to work WAAAAAAY too hard to see the deer horns
uno
I know all sorts of them in the wine business
*starts holding breath*
FW!!!
yeah.. kje..
all sorts of deer horns?
no. di5's
I don't want to live in a hovel, ru
you need a good agent
I can ask around if you'd like
one of our people found a great place on California great neighborhood.. reasonable rent.
then I have to pay a huge agent fee on top of it all... will try on my own first
inner richmond?
I have a lot of friends in SF if you want me to ask them
ok.. to start.. the weather sucks there
will wallow a bit more, ru... but thanks
you'll just move soon
ok.. I'll be happy to help if you need.
I'll drop it
it
california goes through IR
or they must have been more in Pacific Heights?
near Fillmore.. nice area.. not really Pac Heights
I think they are calling that lower PH in the ads
I like fillmore, of course
I could see you living around there.. it's really cool
also Russian Hill
you'd meet more guys in the Marina
russian hill gets further from my two work places than I'd like, but have looked at some there
the marina has lots and lots of places with electric stoves... will live in fog first
Russian HIll is on solid rock.. great for earthquakes
i like noe valley also - that was very sunny
I need to remodel my kitchen..it's so outdated
noe valley is very nice and sunny
We have a good friend who lives there and loves it
nice neighborhood
sigh
I had forgotten how stressful moving is
it'll work out
you will LOVE living in SF
it'll be well worth it
so I keep trying to convince myself... I have move dates but no new home!
you might have to look harder.. the market did pick up over the last few months due to Twitter moving to SF
yes... that sucked for me... I watched rents increase
yep.. a drag.. they'd been dropping previously
what % of their income do you think most SFians pay for rent
25%
that's a guess.
I bet it is higher
could be.. depends..
well, net vs gross, bet it is higher % of net than that
we'd been thinking of buying a loft in sf .. maybe when we sell our Calistoga property
sounds fun
yeah.. that'd be the best of both worlds
my med school loans will prevent that for my future ; )
yeah.. that's a tough one. .. the $$$ really rack up for that much education
it will go to the grave with me ; )
that might be true..lol
it'd be even more now.. with the costs at colleges
our friends kid is going to Stanford and it's an easy $600K for school
yes, I don't know how kids will do this... essentially we will be back to a day when only the rich can afford it
yup.. too true
I am the first in my fam to graduate college, so no family help... it is a killer
yowza
I had to pay my way through college too. no help for me either
But I'm not a Doctor either
thankfully no undergrad debt though due to scholarships and the Pell Grant which was decimated under Bush (but has come back a ittle)
without those Pell's, I prob would have had to drop
that's good.. so it could have been worse
yep
I had only about 3K from undergrad, mostly from my last semester, and that is paid off now
it (to me) is such a crime that costs are that high and that Doctors aren't paid enough for what they do.
I'd include teachers in that equation too
teachers are underpaid
but our athletes are doing great!!! ; )
I just don't get it... Doctors and teachers and Nurses are our most valuable assets
hi all!
hi scrambler
I'm not complaining about what docs make... my colleagues without debt are doing well... but there is a big diff for those with medical school debt, and mine is light compared to many students getting out now
STudent loans can be overwhelming for many
while looking for clues ruru, I noticed the golden gate on kje icon. Years ago I lived south of SF in a small town called LaHonda, near Pescadero and Half Moon Bay. It was gorgeous back in the late 70"s!
I'm glad I don't have any
I lived in La Honda too
I house sat there for a summer
no kidding! I met a guy named Gene Klingele and several others and we used to go to Boots N Saddles!
it's beautiful there still
I would like to see that place again, it was gorgeous except for the banana slugs! hahahaah!
I know ALice's restaurant not Boots and Saddles
oh yeah.. because of the redwoods
a clue for the second se6/21....please
where do you live now, scrambler?
that's where Neil Young lives.. and sorta Joan Baez
she lives on the edge of La Honda
rearrange letters of first se6/21, aeb
Boots n Saddles was where the Post Office/Store/Bar was when I went there. I now live in Wenham Ma and have actually visited Alice's Restaurant in Stockbridge Ma and know a guy who actually had a part in the movie. Yes I saw Neil Young and Joan Baez there quite by accident, near Pescadero beach. Just really pretty there!
cool, scrambler
They had a giant pumpkin festival in Pescadero and that is where I bumped into them!
that se6 rhymes with the expensive wine glassware, aeb
thanks for the clue kje! I needed that! hahah! :3
hi friends... just got in from a long long day. field trip to MOMA and then very late birthday dinner for a friend. haven't begun yet... should I begin?
hi doren.. I love the MOMA
I have always wanted to go to MOMA, Was it fun?
not an easy one nor a quick one
I could spend all day looking at Starry Night
yes... such a great museum... the kids really enjoyed it, we had a tour with a docent and then did our own stuff. They liked the huge monet water lilies best I think, but also starry nite
so owl, you think i should or shouldn;t?
it's not too bad
is sther a lickety list?
It is OK, until the last 50 or so... then the list helps a lot - I didn't think this was horrid
ty kje...it took awhile , but i finnally got it.
My daughter was a docent at Museum of Fine Arts-Boston, but I would love to go to MOMa
yes, lickety is up
yw, aeb
perspective...i listed at around 50 ut i consider that a poor word count to list
ok. diving in
sorry i came out of lurk - leaving
I need to get moving - cleaning out closets and dumping stuff!
ok thanks.. i am in it
wherever I go, I am likely to have less room than here
moving is good for keeping one light
moving to sf, that would be a safe bet
yep - I have 1600 sf here.... will likely end up with 800-1000
well, 1600 + garage and deck... won't have either of tjose out there
i wish you luck kj, My son just had a bid accepted on a house in roland park and he's very excited
pretty area!
they love it.... seem sso nice and he can walk to work from there
where's roland park?
yes, it is very convenient to the undergrad
B-more, ru
baltimore... did you hear he's going to johns hopkins?
yes I knew that
leid
lol
(not even a word, no pb )
it is for dyslexics

always worth starting, stidmama!

sweet dreams doren
hey again.
DE 7/9/8
DE8 is the plural of DE7, and DE9 is ???
de9 is de7 plus two vowels
Twice, I tried to post that definition, and got those nasty red bars, instead.
second vowel, third vowel
harpjane, did you get the DE words?
