I don't think she's ever actually "here" when the list gets posted though?
Is it automatic somehow?
it is automatically for the most part
hi all good luck:)
an4 and cu4 in the same grid!
cos LOL!!
grrrrr, we have a dog who won't stop barking... any helpful hints to deal with him?
thanks cos, didn't have the an
did the list ever get posted for the last grid?
yes jill it did
he's out back, and he just goes nonstop
yes, jilli
hmmm is he cold or does he have food
or is there a full moon?
How about one of those anti-bark shock collars?
lol une
or did he have a bad dream? :-)
Give them a zap every time they bark.
I missed it. I know mrp probably isn't "here" when it's posted, but I like to say thanks just in case
Sounds a little cruel maybe but better than de-barking the dog by having his vocal chords cut.
makes sense jill
me too jilli
125 down and at a standstill
Yeah jilli.
well she's "here" when she posts the announcement on chat, surely....
he's got everything, he's not tangled up, he's just bored, I think. he's not ever going to be a house dog, he just needs to get used to it. he's young, the last of 11 puppies we had last year... just wish we'd found a home for him, too
cords, even
Geez. I play music too much [piano]. Haha.
I wonder if lickety will get the list up tonight
it's up nan
It's up, Nan!!
actually I believe lickety did the last list himself, from what I read
nan, the list is up
Hey Erda. :)
yes, rbud, he did
He was here last night; chatted for a bit...
oh good, think I will consult it
what did you read, rbud? The last list was late -- I never saw it
Hey, Neil!(I said hi earlier...)
lickety was here and chatted briefly apparently
sad news, jill -- mrp has left lickety
Oh sorry I missed it Erda... was buried in the grid.
it was this afternoon, jilli -- that's when lickety told us he and mrp had split
Oh no. That's very sad to hear.
yesterday at 6:05 PM, jilli
Mrp's FB page has said "separated" for some time. Really sad.
oh, really? hadn't seen that . . .
That's very sad. :(
very sad indeed
he did say he's been sober for 8 months, good to hear
I hope after a while they'll get back together again.
Yeah me too.
That is good, rbud.
rbud? One of the tricks on a barking dog was always carrying a lemon squeeze bottle! He barked, he got a dose of lemon juice. Worked for the most part!
so7
oh, jeez . . . have heard of squeeze bottle of water but not lemon juice
oooh, I could do that! straight juice or watered down?
Hey Karen! :)
took the monkeys to find it, no idea what it means
well, dogs like wayter..lemon juice, not so much:)
hiya Neil
But you can't be standing out there all the time ready to do that every time he barks. And you need that kind of consistency... shock collar.
they don't like water sprayed in the face
straight up!
There is also an anti-bark collar that emits a spray of citrus water.
I think Petsmart carry those.
there is? wow
I'd check it out.
Yep. It costs more than the electric shock collar too I think... but better than de-barking a dog.
he just hates to be left out of anything, he barks when he can see or hear anyone, including through the windows, sigh...
A friend of mine was worried when he adopted a Chihuahua cross... but this dog turned out to be very quiet! He's lucky.
pardon me for asking but why keep him outside?
You'd think with Chihuahua he'd be a barker. And this guy lives in an apartment building too.
hmm, lemon juice is about 50 cents. I'd go that route first! and if you can quit the barking in the house, it might work outside:)
I was wondering that too pugmama.
rbud, do you have neighbours?
Dogs are smart Karen. They know where they can get away with stuff.
I already have lemon juice in the fridge
Ours figured that out fast, haha.
lol yes
oh, I know, but we don't really want him, I'm sorry to say, he needs to find another home. We already had 4 dogs, including his mother - but she's living on a farm now, thank goodness, but they don't want him, too.
late hello to all.
Hi melon.
hi melon
hi melon
he's just too big and crazy. our little nearly sightless (bl5, lol) indoor dog hates him.
have you checked for local rescue groups that might take & rehome him?
still looking for a place to live Neil....real estate market is thriving while the rentals suck! But we do have an application in for the neatest house! Praying we get it
hi, Neil.
oleo
oops!
you bet, but they're swamped around here, and refuse to take him. We have two other big dogs, he even wears them out with his yapping. And I'm sure the neighbors are tired of it too, though we don't have many.
Oh wow, Karen... that's rough but hope you can get this place you're applied for.
well make sure they have you on a waiting list for when they have an opening , meanwhile the no bark collar seems the way to go
our older outside dog is a peaceful fellow, we moved them closer together hoping his mellowness would rub off on the younger one, but so far it just seems to disturb the older one's nap schedule, lol

It was a general store back in 1930 in a small town, moved here at some point. but its got the old hardwood restored, deep tub...4 bedrooms 2 baths
sounds great, alta!
answered a million questions from license info to monthly income etc...Told them you can have my first born, just give me the house!
that sounds nice!
Oh interesting. Sounds nice, Karen.
Oh sure... and will your firstborn agree to that? lol
the kitchen is to die for! :)
didnt tell him yet lol
My parents can give theirs away. :P I won't complain... too much. [I'm the 2nd, haha.]
lolol
Well hopefully you won't have to die for it.
just saw a restored old schoolhouse this last weekend, went to a big family reunion - they have it beautifully restored, and live beneath it.
plus they have a huge barn with a gorgeous farmhouse kitchen and lounge, lots of patios... *jealous*
Sounds nice rbud. What are they doing with the restored schoolhouse?
the schoolhouse still looks like a schoolhouse?
I'm pretty jealous just reading about this... we're in a small [but pretty nice] 1-bedroom apartment.
over halfway
Yes, you'd never know the home is under it, it's all on the side of a hill, with a lake below, the back of the underground part looks out over that
It does have gorgeous hardwood flooring throughout, except for the marble tiled kitchen and bathroom floors. And there is carpeting, wall to wall, in the bedroom.
well Neil, if we dont get this house, I'll be camping in my tent trailer, so be thankful
But nowhere else.
I should post photos of it... will one of these days.
Oh Karen, I'm sure you'll find somewhere.
just looks like a little old schoolhouse otherwise. With barns around it, they moved it there, it only cost $100 - plus the cost of moving it, lol
Might have to settle for less than your ideal just to have a home for now?
Yeah. But what are they going to do with the schoolhouse? Just keep it restored as one? And why... open it as a museum?
don't know...landlord wants us out asap, offered us a cash incentive to do so, but I said thats all moot if we cant find a place. Legally we have till Sept 30th, but think the new owners take possession mid July
oh, I really hope you get the place, Alta, it just sounds so perfectly interesting.
but with them asking all the questions they did, sounds like they're interested in you Alta?
think they asked all the applicants the same
I don't know why they wanted it so much, other than the owner planned to burn it down. :O
but no-one can turn down my cute roommate! She could sell ice to an Eskimo I swear!
Well if you have until Sept. 30th legally, use that time.
it is museum quality, for sure. though they had beds in it for the weekend, and some couches.
Wow. It would be sad to see that burned down.
beds for rythmitic?
My roommate's pretty cute too, Karen. ;)

I've been up since 4:30
gnight flosey -- see you at bridge tomorrow?

boy, is mrs ru lucky to have you!
it's 1:21 here right now, and there's a campfire out front across the driveway, and a half-dozen folks sitting around it, still, including Hubs. Too much nightlife at our place.
You can't escape us, ru.
she wouldn't say that jilli..lol
partly why the dog won't shut up, I'm sure
Wow, rbud. If you can't beat'em, join'em?

I'm pretty scantily clad too but you don't need to know. Not a pretty sight. :P lol
flosey --Jean may be back but still may not want to play. Better check with Isabelle first.
[it's damn hot here]
I'd have to dress to go out there!
Yeah, we have a/c on but it's still the idea of how hot it is you know?
We've been so chilly here no need to strip!
Must be damn nice jilli... send it this way.
not nice -- we want summer! Didn't get more than a couple of days last year and so far it's been a repeat. Temps in the 50s and 60s.
you could go as you are rbud and make the local papers
Oh man. Sounds nice to me.
If it's a slow news day there maybe. ;) haha
That wouldn't be news in this crazy city.
naw.. they'd just think madonna is in town
good morning, Babble friends!

How exciting that you're going to visit ruby!
she'll be known as spritefoo from here on out
And that was a cute picture you did for her birthday
Hi beviboo and welcome.

lol ruru... spritefool more like.
aw, thanks jilli. I love to do that kind of thing. It makes people smile, which is a good thing.

chinese guardian dogs, Foo Dogs, maybe? the chows?
yes, could very well be!
Oh, rbud, very good !!!
k***-foo panda
ruru: just the french I learned at school. But that is enough to manage simple things, like travel.
un deux trois, camembert, trois biers, trottoir, portefeuille, du pain, du vin, du boursin.
okay..I'm foo to bed..er.. I mean off to bed
well, Wiki says "chinese guardian lions", actually, aka "Foo Dogs" - so lions, the chows look lion-like
wow, never knew that. Thanks!
ok ruru, sleep well and happy dreams. No fooling around!
they are mean-looking critters!
beans.
they have black tongues
night, ru! :)
yes they do! Amazing, isn't it.
they are odd dogs..
very much a one person dog
in character they are much more like cats
*waves goodnight*
I have always heard that the more black dogs have in their mouths, the smarter they are, though it may of course be an old wives' tale
*nightynight*
never heard that! funny.
I cannot find how to send a mail in facebook to more than one person... do you know?
I thought you could just keep adding names, have they changed that too?
not sure... do I have to type in all the names then? I thought I'd get a list to chose from :(
no, it looks to still work - you start typing and the name self-completes?
no, no list, I guess you're right about that
but it will still let you send to more than one.
shoot, 34 left and ground to a halt, don't feel like listing tonight, maybe time for bed.
ok done it, thanks for helping :) Are you leaving for bed now?
if you are, sleep well!
we are doing well in this grid - another babblet wa6/33 which will lead to a lot of giggles I would think (it does exist as a river-name in Britain)
thanks for the heads-up, will try to find it!
however, it is a proper grid because it has a coin (one of my Latin ones - medieval Latin is one of my hobbies) and an obscure fish !
yesssss a fish! It is good to have a fish in a grid. I like coins too, especially the really obscure ones, like dwei (?)
no, lwei, now I remember
sanctus is not valid though :(
No, not the lwei - this one has 7 letters. Fireworks here. As the sun has come out after four days of hiding I shall go in the garden for an hour. Luckily we had less rain than other parts of Britain.
sorry - coin starts with s (can also mean something maths-y)
wtg scouser! And have a lovely day. We are having another thunderstorm here, with heavy rain.
ta good luck
goodnight all...
night beviboo! Sleep well.
Hi Sprite
hi lyn :) xxx
You all packed for the big trip? when are you off?
not packed, but almost everything prepared for packing. Just a few more things to pick up this afternoon. Will be off tomorrow morning, train leaves at 8.16
what fun! is Terra going? or won't the rest of the family let him go
Terra will stay home. I would have brought him, but Rufie is very wild and playful, and Terra does not like big dogs playing roughly with him.
maybe next time, once he is past the puppy stage
yes, I think so. That is, if ruby and her husband will let me come back, grin.
they probably won't let you go home!
lol, that would be good. Better to be missed than having them waiting eagerly for me to leave ;)
we have this saying in du5 that goes like this: Guests and fish stay fresh for only 3 days. In du5 it rhymes.
good one
and thanks for the du5
Sprite, we have the same saying in England, and in US.
:) It is often true, isn't it... guests can overstay their welcome. But some never do.
really? Never knew that! How does it go in english?
Hello Christine
It doesn't rhyme - just that guests and fish stink after three days ... time to go home, or be tossed into the trash can.
Hello, Lynxxx - I'm catching up on my blog reading, between trips into Babbleland
hehehe ok! Always interesting, how sayings can be widespread.
Perhaps it started in Holland - on the east coast of England, we have lots of DU5 settlements
it is attributed to Benjamin Franklin "guests, like fish, begin to smell after 3 days"
I mean, evidence of DU5 settlements - an island in the mouth of the Thames has three old, round houses, dated 1620 (I think that's the date).
Did he visit Holland, while roaming Europe?
Interesting!
well we did have some naval wars with the Netherlands in the 17th century (and earlier) so perhaps they managed to set up camp? William of Orange etc etc
yes he did: Franklin first visited the European continent in the summer of 1761, with his son William. They traveled to a number of cities in Flanders (what we today call Belgium) and the Netherlands and toured several Roman Catholic cathedrals. Franklin was particularly impressed that the Flemish people didn’t follow a strict Puritanical interpretation of the Sabbath. Franklin seemed to like the fact that on Sundays in Flanders many people "went to the play or the opera, where there was plenty of singing, fiddling and dancing." In the Netherlands, Franklin visited the Dutch city of Leyden. There he met Pieter van Musschenbroek, who invented the so-called Leyden electrical jar, which Franklin used in many of his experiments with electricity. Franklin found the Dutch people to be very tidy and clean, but his son William was disgusted by the way Dutch men and women smoked pipes almost incessantly.
That's interesting. We learn new things, new words, all the time, on this game.
Some time ago, Jillinus responded to a questions, with the clue TH4 (or %) - iis there such a word/s?
No, there isn't - I have 3 Ts
I wonder why William was disgusted with the smokers - after all a lot of American funding came from the tobacco trade. Tobacco and snuff were absolutely the in-thing back then. Perhaps the son was puritanical?
Don't do as I do, do as I tell you ??
could be. and LOL.
re the th- word perhaps she was trying to clue the end of two sy- words.
there is no way to make a word starting th in this grid. Not even in enable! :D
no but there is an unexpected ending of -th
yeah I think I have those
Now that I think about it, I think it was a case of "I can't find th4" something of that sort. I was looking for them, or there
babblets within babblets hey
hehehe perhaps a matter of typo or babble blindness.
I was supposed to be going out in garden and got side-tracked. Bye all
I cannot find the wa6 that was mentioned earlier.
bye scouser, have a good one!
Bye, enjoy the su4hine.
I have WA6/33 ... wa4 plus 2letters
I even tried a2z. I am having a very blind moment, I think.
could you please give me a dummy clue?
and that could get you sent to the pb
Thinke of wizards
argh... yeah that just did. And I already had the word :(
ahhhh got it! Thank you. Now I must look it up.
No definition, nor for the other DU-5
BBL - getting lots of red bars - must be my connection. Bon Voyage Sprite!!
you are right. Just tried with infoplease, but no juice.
bye lyn! Thanks and *hugs*
I think someone said the 8 & 9 are nautical words?
yes they certainly look that way.
The only nautical words I see are sa 4 & 5
they are compounds. You need something before those you found.
thinking, thinking -- need a cup of tea.
if you want more of a clue, just tell me :)
Oh please, Ido want more of a clue
ok, those boating canvases leave you groggy.
OOO found 'em.
good job!
Just as I asked, I noodled the word/s
grin... asking is finding... how often is that true in Babble!
Sometimes, I find my self staring, looking for a wor, then someone gives a clue, and the bloomin' thing is right in front of me (of course it is).
I think everyone else has gone to work, or gone to bed.
oh yes, same here.
I think so. I have 15 left here.
I have 78 to go - I keep drifting off to read my book. Actually, I should go to bed. It's 1.45am, and I'm meeting my daughter and her husband for breakfast, at 9am.
sounds like a good time to go and get some sleep :)
What do the 8 &9 letter words start with please?
back again ... I forgot the kettle was plugged in.
ST
st8/45 st9/60
hi zTink and sarah, bye and sleep well Christine!
Found them. Thank you!
hiya sprite :)
Are you leaving, Sprite? Time to do your packing?
Good morning. I can't sleep so here I am and I have to be up for work in 2 hours.
aw poor zTink :(
That's not so good. I'm retired, so if I get sleepy, I'll just flake-out on the couch.
no I am not leaving yet, still 9 to go. I thought you were leaving, Christine, for your bed?
Playing on iPhone and I shouldn't have started this. I'm hooked .
No, just made another pot of tea, and I'll finish the book, so I can drop them off on my way to breakfast.
freedom, isn't it, Christine :) Well earned.
I keep saying "just 1 more word...."
zTink, sorry you cannot sleep, but glad to have you with us.
lol I know! Just ONE more word...just one...
While I worked, I loved my job (in a bank) but I really can't see how anyone has time to work, and play Babble, and do the other things we need to do. It helped that I didn;t have my own computer 'til aafter I retired.
it isn't easy to juggle all those things.
I used to tell my Dad, in retirement I found the two things I''m really good at - reading, and lying on the bed.
fireflies! A very nice grid for me.
LOL Christine :D :D
congratulations. I should do something about looking for words -- I still have 78 to go.
I am going to do something towards travelling tomorrow :) *hugs* and bye all, see you next weekend.
Goodbye, sweetie - a safe journey, and hugs to you and Rubyfoo. God bless.
will do!

lucky guest. my bathroom has been coming along in leaps and bounds. funny how atrantrum, even at my age, gets results.
a well-placed tantrum can be very effective!
lol, did everything, except stamp my feet...too painful
that's like when we were house-shopping. Whereas I had never asked for anything of Burt, when I saw this house I said "I want it!!!"
Hi Rose & Ruby.
hey scrabs
{{scrabbler}}
very strange du5 word, rhymes with midday meal. can't find a definition for it, though
hi all <yawn>
scrabs..have you done your hike yet?

{{{carlee}}}}}
hello carlee
hi ruby...how are you doing?
Yes, we were in the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon 6/9-13. Hiking, kayaking + biking. Great time.

{{RMCC}} hows you doing too? lordy but am tired here...crap sleeps for last couple nights
we leave in 11 days for ours!
very impressive, scrabs!
excellent..but now the plants will take off and look like a jungle ruby
carlee, know how you feel...sleep-deprived. have had several nights in a row, awake from 2-3am, then get up and go to work.
I slept terribly last night--migraine (started with storm during the night) and aching body from gardening all weekend.
actually, the weeds loved the rain and cold; you could here them encroaching dadadum
up-side is my surgery is scheduled for monday 25th june, so not long now. * sigh*

my trouble is no work atm..... and no $..I cant afford this trip but I also cant afford not to..cus..MY DAUGHTER DECIDED SHE WANTS TO COME TOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!
You will have an adventure!
Uh, oh, what surgery, Rose?
oh, dear, carlee. a bit of a dilemma
scrabs, total knee replacement
with all the suicides...and now issues with her former best friend... that are requiring school and police intervention...
carlee: when my son turned 13, I was divorced and had no money beyond rent and food, but I took out a loan and took him to Paris for a week -- it was worth it!
not long now rose... one week
oh..I am going rose... she needs this get away for her reasons as much as I need it for mine...it will be a healing adventure
yeah, carlee, but am i, and more importantly, is himself gonna make it? starting to get quite cranky.
he will... he is cranky us he is being forced to take care of himself
where are you going, carlee? I missed that story.....
good, carlee, sometimes we just need to take that leap in faith and trust that all will be provided. you and your daughter are the two most important people in this.
oh....my gf and I had planned to drive down to erwin TN ( 12 hour drive straight through)... we stay at a hikers "lodge" are of sorts... take a shuttle to Hot springs NC and hike the 80 mils back on the appalachian trail
that sounds wonderful carlee, and a great thing to do with your daughter!!!!
and my daughter came with me when my gf and i were finallising our stops etc... and then asked if can come too ( which was my plan..but I KNEW if i asked her she would say no)
smart mom!
sounds lovely, carlee....but not with my knee....give me another 12 months, hun, and i'll be waiting for you, with coffe in hand.
anyway... she wants to come... scrabs were there shelters along your trail or no?
Good luck, Rose. Focus on being healed and rehabbed.
hehehe ok rose... and..scrabs... you had mentioned perhaps next year?
I have considered hiking part of the AT someday.
thanx scrabs. plan on being up and walking day one post-op.
well scrabs... I will take loads of pics... and maybe next year we can meet up for a section?
I'd be waiting at the end of the trail with a pitcher of margueritas and guacamole and chips!
ooohhh, like ruby's idea better...me too, hun, me too
hehehe sounds good ruby...although i think we will want more like a juicy burger... a chocolate milkshake..some greasy fries... and then maybe a cold beer...dehydrated foods for 6 days... ugh
I'm OK on stairs, but not so good on walking.... :(
and I used to be a runner!

I started running at 42 -- got up to an hour and ran (badly) a couple of 10K races. It was grand!
Wow, Ruby!
yea..wow ruby
at 47, though, cancer ended the running
running was like dancing
:( very sad
nah, it's 22 years later, so I'm very happy
even without running
hey ruby, what say we start it all again, slowly of course....you walk quickly, and i'll do a soft shoe shuffle
no, I can't walk much, back is too far gone....
I miss dancing more than running, though!
Time to get ready for work. I will be back here later, when I have a chance.
but I gave that up when I got married
hagd scrabs
welll i'll push you in a wheel-barrow, and you can yell out the directions.
bye scrabs!
give those bunnies a cuddle for me
see ya scrbs
that sounds like a plan!

get a small cannister of mace and you'll all be safe
well..bear spray....same diff
or pepper spray
bear spray? OMG
no bears in France
yes...we will likely see bears... we have to tie our packs in the trees
ruby, can just picture it...two little ol' white-haired ladies, tearing down the main drag, one in a wheel-barrow, the other screaming, are we there yet?
heheeh that is hillarious rose :)

School has been out here since May 31. Seems like you all go a lot longer
You start in August though, right?
we also got out on May 31st but starting earlier in August
We start after Labor Day in September.
they start mid-August here
all have to have 180 days - just different start/end times and vacation days
I'm pissed about the half day. ridiculous.
I would be too, you know they are not going to do any work today
They really haven't done any work for a couple of weeks now. Lots of parties and field trips.
I was away from keyboard...
Hi ((Mom)) and teach

Hello Scrabbler, welcome back
TY for eo clues, I got all 3.
Hello Scrabs!
yo
back at ya, Mark. Good morning
Yo Mark
Does the st 8 start with a hot guy or a shock?
Hi Mark!
How are y'all this morning
shock
Scrabs..is your rash / reaction all better?
I'm fine, Mark. Yourself?
Yes, the one area stung and burned til the next day. Darn stinging nettles!
I couldn't sleep, so I am tired...but feeling well
Car, how is your car?
yes, how is your vehicle?
I'm glad your are better Scrabbler
Mark, maybe you can get in a nap today
I couldn't sleep either--tossing, turning, migraine started during a storm, body aching from weekend of gardening.
I can't. Therapy at two and golf at four...nah
Still sitting in the driveway. Just waiting for the decisive call on it.
well then I hope you get a good sleep tonight
I have short tendons in my arms and legs
Car., what happened to the car?
Oh, that is so tough--high-cost repair vs get another car.
Me too...I don't like waking up early
Car go boom...well poof.
Anybody have the Y? Monkey can't find it.
We are thinking the "get another car" route.
Then you've gotta change your profile...
yu + we go to **urch on Sunday
Oops, monkey found it.
yu 4/9
thanks mom
good monkeys
you're welcome, Mark
See, when my monkey is ashamed on the chat log it produces.

((hgs)) Car.
((Hugs))*
I have to go see a kid in a minute, but I'll be here off and on all day.
i am missing a W - have wa x 10 and we x 2 - which one am i missing
good morning my babble friends;)
good morning crossy
ol 4/4 x2= sort of spelling for old time american margerine
can remember when Wisconsin (dairy state) did not allow coloring in ol4 so people would buy butter
yup, some states ordered it dyed horrible colours as well
we did not have that
or people would come down to Illinois (where I lived) and buy ol4 by the case
but the eary margerines were not that great, sold un butter form, wrapped in wax paper and very crumbly
don't remember that
was 25 cents a pound.
now, most of the modern "margerines" as so cut with water to promote low calories or other supposed benifits, that you end up with soggy toast,so i just wait for butter to come on sale and buy 20 pounds at a time
ground beef was 69 cents and gas was 19 cents but our salaries were a lot different
my da earned $1.55 per hour in 1964,the 3 bedroom brick bungalow we had was worth 12,000 and the mortgage payments were 75 dollars a month
strangly cameras were crazy expensive,i still have the first 110mm flash camera he bought in 1965..and it has a home hardware sticker on it that says $45.00!!!!
my first yearly salary as a teacher (in 1965) was $4500 and I was able to save a lot of money that year
so,it is all relative i suppose
mm,first half of this grid is very easy..i am waiting for the babble wall to come crashing down...
good morning all and how many words today and thanks
Hi Steve, 176
howdy steve
another word that enable says no to "linch" http://www.thefreedictionary.com/Linch

good morning everyone
good morning flosey
lol, is this a monday morning blues day?
*loudly waves back at Molly, as soon as she figures out how to wave loudly*
hi wv
[[ WAVES ]]
Considering I'm at a theater festival, I've been extremely well-behaved, relatively.
that sounds interesting via
where / what theater festival
Ottawa Fringe Festival
Well behaved at a theater festival? Unheard of.
I said relatively.
hi all
Molly, I can't find my eye glasses :(
I have retraced my steps a million times
and even tho I am not Catholic, I prayed to Mother Mary which usually help. Now I will pray to St. Anthony
Today's Fake Not-in-the-Grid Word of the Day... un5: the verb of becoming undead
wonder if it would accept if it was followed by an S
*Says Novena to St. Anthony for Peri*
check the freezer Peri - I found mine in there one day...lol!
and hello everyone
all right, heading out for a run before it gets too hot - later all
hi River
and oh my god galsses in the freezer = awesome
good luck peri!
Good Morning Everybody! How are you all today?
at least they were not perched on top of your head the entire time
great thanks Nef, and you?
I always put my driving glasses on top of the frig....a couple years ago I looked everywhere for them and couldnt find them...made an appointment for an eye exam to replace them...went home that night and went into the freezer for something and found them behind something in the shelf of the door...must have fallen in when someone opened it...
lol crossy
hello Nef
I have hit a brick wall with this grid with 36 left - guess I will have to list
Peri, I can't see anything clearly within my arms' length without my glasses. I've sat on them so many times through the years it isn't funny; and whenever a lens pops out (which usually happens after sitting on them); I'm totally lost!
i wrote a checklist as to all the regular places i leave my glass and keep it handy in my back pocket, but i discovered today that i cannot read the list without my glasses;(((
there are a few 'words' that I've never seen (or at least remember seeing)
my reading glasses dont leave my face for long these days
i know a rich fell up here who went to our glass plant, they make windshields for gm and occasionally toyota and ordered a perscription windshiled for his caddy!
so school is now out here - my kids can sleep in every day...ugh! I am so jealous!
they run our kids right till the last day of the month
yikes.....that must have been expensive - resale would suck as no one else could see out
I never needed glasses til I was 47, within 5 years I had trifocals.
15 thousand dollars and i doubt he will sell it lol
same here nef,i have only had glasses for last year or so,and just for reading..i am 49
I have not been able to get used to bifocals. have tried several times....so I carry around 3 pairs of glasses....driving, reading and sunglasses
lol Nef, I wore them for 30 years, then had cataracts removed, now wear drugstore glasses 1.5 and 2.5 - for use with computer, reading - so have them all over the house - plus a pair on chain I wear when shopping so can read the small print
I have had driving glasses since my mid 20's but needed reading glasses after I turned 40 - its been down hill from there.
ahh yes,tri-focals will be next..the top zone to see far away, the mid zone for regular distance and the bottom layer to read my meds
actually since my reading has gotten worse my distance has gotten better
thank god for e-readers!
I should get one of those for my Mom as she can only read large print only with her macular degeneration
DH has the graduated trifocals; I have the ungraduated ones. Neither of us can get used to the other style. (Mine are cheaper with the lines showing; but most people don't see the lines these days).
pulled down a old favorite book of mine from the book case that i have not had out in 2 years, and though the print was clear the size was soooo tiny!
still have not found them and I am really angry at myself.
did you check the freezer Peri?
river, you mother will LOVE one!! my wife was ten years being unable to read due to degenerative eye disease then the e-readers came out! well.it was the best thing i could of got her
she doesnt have a computer but I can always download for her.
I usually wear them on a chain around my neck but that makes me look like an old lady so I stopped. will have to start it again
peri, try going through your bedding. I used to loose my glasses in bed reading at night (now I can't seem to read lying down these days; the trifocal lines get all screwy that way
no, I did not go near the freezer
river, when you are ready,i can send you many, many books
and I took the bedding apart
did you read in bed last night? Are they under the bed?
thanks crossy - I will let you know
does anyone have a clue for an7 please?
sprite and i trade books all the time:)
did you kitty bat them into a corner?
Nef --- did you check the trash?
I have no 7's, 8's or 9!!
how about the dirty laundry? Did they get tangled in something when you undressed last night? (People are seeing how my life used to be crazy now!)
sorry flosey - dont have it
I do not wear glasses to read and I checked under the bed many times. I place them on the night table. they are not in the pockets of my robe
there is a 9?? good lord
Lisa, it's Peri that lost her glasses
thanks anyway River
lmao...right??
word for blackbird + bottom of your foot
thanks diane
welcome :-)
thanks diane
that handy little blackbird word from crossword puzzle days.
I give up. I hope I am not going senile
St. Anthony is not helping, as yet
they will show up when you least expect it
yay! got it :)
I am going to try a Zumba class tonight - wish me luck....I may be babbling from bed tomorrow...lol!
sounds interesting River, enjoy
I used to zumba and it was a ton of fun, vvery addicting
I don't need them at the computer or to read but they help when I drive. altho I could probably drive without them
I am so out of shape - will have to pace myself
but then I tore my miniscus, and it hasn't been the same going back :(
sigh..new kitten had vanished, found him down the hall with 4!!!! unravelled rolls of toilet paper!
uh oh, bad kitty
hahaha
hi all! What is Zumba?
sorry to hear that Lisa - I have a bad back so need to take care but need to start doing something
an exercise class, sort of how jazzercise was, except you dance with latin beats!
It a latin form of dance - exercise class - I'll know more after tonight
ay caramba!
Riverdance, there were so many different age groups represented at my class...my teacher had her mother there on the side, giving simpler steps to those that needed it. You just do what you can. It will be hard to be perfect, but it is so much fun, you will like it!
a friend and I are going together - we should get some good laughs out of it at the least
Friend of mine has lost 3 stone in 7 months doing zumba 3 x a week
any clues for the 8 or 9 out there?
last words, in6 and 7, any help please?
I dont know what 3 stone is but a friend of mine has lost over 60 lbs in a years time doing Zumba - she is now one of the teachers.
mkg, apparently it has to do with boating, same first 4 letters previous words, then the boating word
to be accepted into a society flosey

Different last letter.
adgivetopoliceofficer
great clue. ty.
ta da!!!
Where were they?
did you find your glasses peri?
after taking my bedding apart for the umpteenth time. I found them. they were in the comforter that I keep on top of my bed *blushing*
YAY, peri! I'm so happy for you! :-)
when I took the bedding apart, I picked up the comforter. this time I shook it and out they fell!! wasted over an hour looking for them but I knew they could not be far. thanks for the prayers
...well two gin and tonics will make me forget where my glasses are...
*Makes note to get Peri THE CLAPPER for her glasses*
yes, I do need that
I take them off when I read in bed, must have place them on the comforter in stead of night table. and when I made the bed this am. I folded the comforter over them.
so I am not going senile :)
now I can do my errands in peace
thanks again, bbl to finish
so happy to hear that, peri! ;-)
ds

yu 4/9
yu4 an exclamation
a cousin to "gross" ... used when kids don't like their dinner !
Thanks! I thought I tried that several times....
Good morning, all. Hey! I just won $7.00 on the Powerball.
Who puts that letter at the end though? I always use the "other" one.
nice, Judi!
I agree, Molly
Yay! Judi is the big winner!
Name that proper noun: Peanuts character.
Linus!
Ding! Ding! Ding!
$7 is more than you paid for the ticket. I don't buy them very often, the only time I ever buy any of those lottery tickets is to cheer up DH (he used to buy them religiouslly when he was working, 1 per week)
On average, I buy the Lotto and the Powerball once every two weeks.
TV programming has sunk to a new low. There is talk of a game show based on Draw Something.
Aren't there 2 drawings a week? I never understood why (if he was buying the tickets) he'd only do it for 1 of the 2 drawings a week; but I never asked why either.
Objection: Swai is a type of fish.
agree, Judi. (I wonder what the "old" name of it was, though)
(huh, similar the catfish, I see)
wok this swai?
Mekong Delta catfish. Good one, ru!
....just gimmee a fish...
Hmm Ru, come to think of it, your icon does bear a resemblance to Steven Tyler.
Ptui. Never eating Swai again, now that I know where it comes from.
my daughter was in vietnam this spring and said she had the best fish ever
Yes. They use the deltas as their sewers in most parts of Viet Nam.
Judi, the site I'm using says that it's a river-raised catfush. All you need to do is check the pkg to see where the country of origin is
ewwwwwwwwww
http://www.montereybayaquarium.org/mob ile/sfw/static/sfw_definition.aspx
S'okay. Plenty of fish here in the US to eat. Don't need it imported from way off yonder.
yeah.. buy american
sn 5.18 anyone?
it's a plural
whoops. should have used a different page. It's the monerey bay aquarium site
which has lots of info an all fish
tu

I keep mine local, crossy. Hello!
anyway..on we go:) howdy trif
only jay we have here is a blue jay lol
I think you had better defer this discussion to elegant, crossy
it is a term created by oprah as far as i know
un6/24 plz
what a contribution to our arts and letters!
a va jay jay is the opposite of a mans pee pee lol
I have the not oral, ivesy - best left un6
Hey, if the grid can say cu4, you can say vagina in the chat log.
ah ty trif.. guess the va jay jay was better left un 6 too
And we are using terms for body parts created by Oprah because...?
kadresa's daughter calls her jammies her "p jay jays" which cracks me up!
an 7/28 plz and if it another body part i will scream so everyone will hear me
somebody just got home - dogs are going mental.....see you!
You only have to half scream because only half of it is a body part. an + vowel + the bottom of your foot
ok ty molly... ahhhh.. small scream
off to get lunch then get ready for work.. hagd everyone, or night ,whichever the case is

Hi scrabbler
Aaron, do you live or near in London? I am wondering about Olympic chaos there.
I'm with the list, and there are not so many fish that I missed. Usually when I list I find lots of easy ones I missed
It's like stop and go...I'll get a run going then hit a wall, get a run, hit a wall....
no i dont live near london i live in the north east sorry
but it still seems quite chatic, just seen the olympic torch the other day, there was thousands there to see it

I thoroughly believe in a sense of humor to survive life! We all got pretty bad a few weeks ago...
I agree Jilly. Not getting "pretty bad a few weeks ago".
Actually, those on here were having a lot of racy fun...and no ruru...lol

Racy fun is a good thing.

----->sparkles<-----
(((crossy)))
though i now avoid politics and religion, from hence forth my pollitical afilitation is the for a guy down the street named fred who is working on a pan for the 30 dollar minimum wage, and my religion is rooster worship a la J.D Sallanger
((jilly))
Well, that night it was a bunch of us women of a certain age getting pretty raucous...
It gets WAY too political in here sometimes. And I really don't care, as I am largely apolitical. But people need to remember that not everyone shares their views on things. I see people get REALLY offended when the politics stuff takes off.
well,we all know the ladies get all going worse than the man...
thats why i now avoid it molly some get ugly with the politics
now crossy...you've gone and blown the secret!
lol
*recenters halo*
*Bows in Jilly's direction*
I'm so tired of words like wa6. No definition, sketchy definitions in other dictionaries. It's like there are all these made up words that are only valid in word games.
well, all this beauty and goodness is too much atm,so i best do some laundry biab...poink
bye crossy...
I agree Molly...I kept looking for a second d on that one...finally monkeyed it...

Ah, I'll get to it in time - thanks, though!

Kap, Stefano is dead again? Hahahahahaha!
Gosh, I'm going to miss him ..
It's okay Tor, he has a tendency to resurrect within a few weeks. After everyone else on the soap has looked as though they were his killer. : D
Ah. The old "Kill a character to explore everyone else's secrets and motivations" trick.
Soap watchers have been eating it up for years.

can you give a clue for that nu5, min?
keep fingers crossed that I make the 1025 flight!
fingers, toes, and knees crossed, kje! :-)
realistically I don't know if I could help much if you miss it - I live a little over an hour from the airport, and they'd probably put you on the first flight out around 6 am -
That nu 5/14 word is nu plus to perish uusue2.

no prob, sue... I plan to make that flight!
oh, duh, thanks min!!

the most hysterical thing about it minver is....
the container says serves 4...LOL HA
There isn't a human on earth that can stop eating that stuff
ha, I was in the story today and looked at some muffins (Moral Fiber, they were called) - serving size was HALF A MUFFIN. Who are they kidding?????
that's a cute name uu.. very clever
I thought so too, but the serving size turned me off (they weren't even all that big!)
i know we have a cupcake shop in Napa that serves these teeny-tiny cupcakes for like $3.50 each.. I told the woman at the counter she was out of her mind
Cupcake people don't have a sense of humor

Note to self: Do not look to Jilly for a positive spin on things. : )
just sayin'....there ARE worse things than age ;)
True enough Jilly
Molly, I remember a scene in a made for TV futuristic movie circa early 1970's...a bar scene with a R&R band made up of very elderly gentlemen...thought then it was hysterical...not so much now...lol
