hello all
Hi Jilli
Hi Jilli
NBT, NBS, 100 left for later - off for breakfast, happy babbling!
hi jilli, did you get my note? was hurrying, using a broken pencil, rushing for hubby to take it up the road
yes, thanks, flosey, and I gave Yantara your tickets. I also got another book of them from Pat and all were sold :-)
wtg jilli, hope you win something too
thanks, but you're the most deserving one!
we were in a muddle here, Allison and Paul had to go back, guess they booked too late, couldn't go LH, had to go swartz bay switch to Tswa ferry
have you been doing this grid, flosey?
a very good cause jill
definitely a good cause -- one I've been concerned about for a long time.
I just started, William had a long sleep this afternoon so was full of beans tonight - not ready to sleep until quite late
217 words and no S. Lots of phantoms, like know and knot and ardent and so on
good morning
good morning ruby
is jilli actually here? and flosey, too! yay! Are you both rooting for Ryder in the Tour?
we've had 3 of our kids and partners and one 3 year old, so no time for tv, but would love to see him win
the French commentators don't mention him at all, dose (cynically, lol) says it's because he's not French.
hi ruby! I was in the kitchen for a few minutes
guess the Fr. commentators will have to eat their words if he should win
Of course we're rooting for Ryder!
they'll eat their words with Beurre Blanc on them, no doubt
And I'm not surprised the French ignore him. Probably other do too -- he's only Canadian.
Ryder and Cadel (with George Hincapie's help, of course)
I really don't know much about these cyclists
I only became interested AFTER we moved to France, and then, only because of Lance Armstrong
Dose is the expert!
I think this grid is a beast -- over half the letters of the alphabet are missing, including the s
Yes, Lance was a magnet
he's my hero, I don't care what anybody says (and people say terrible things!)
nbt but need and 8 and a 9 (I have the 10, yay!)
I've heard the doping things but nobody can prove anything
first 70 were easy, but nothing bigger than a 6!
aah, a 7!
the 10 is te 10/84 in case you didn't know
I'll make a note of it for later
open
sorry

how are you feeling these days, jilli? back to boogying?
bah, farine is not found in the dictionary
you need a Fr dictionary
Oh, jillibus, don't you just love the Rubaiyat?
hello peach!
Hello everyone
Hi there, ruby. Hope all is well with you.
{{lynxx}}
Jilli - I spelled it that way at first too - then I changed the last vowel
aside from the crazy weather, everything is fi**
ty lynxx
hi lyn -- I just did that too for the fa6/27
what is wrong with your weather Ruby? it should be nice now?
warm dry winter, 10 weeks of rain and cold in apr, may, june -- very hot for a couple of days and now cold and rainy again.
Usually spring is perfect!
why the heck isnt entrails considered a word?
ruby, temp here was 10C today, and pouring this evening -- and in the eastern USA it's been over 100F (38C). People in several states were hit by a huge storm and are without power for days -- no air conditioning etc.
mmm I guess we have to get used to these unusual weather patterns unless we can all do something about all our carbon emmissions etc
I think it needs the s, aselius, and there isn't one
asellus - entrails (plural) would be accepted but not the singular version
so I shouldn't complain; it's just been strange and sort of creepy to have warmer weather in Feb than in Apr
true, lynxx
I just stay home! lol
my carbon footprint is very small
huh ok then :)
wond
this " summer" here is a repeat of last year's -- worse, in fact. My garden is like a green jungle from all the rain and lack of sun -- blooms very slow to open. Farmers are suffering too.
I am trying to make ours smaller too...as yesterday we started our carbon 'tax' which means all power increases by 10-15%...plus untold increases on many other things. But it IS good
sorry, stell searching....
same here jilli, weed love the rain, fruit doesn't
nobody has cherries or plums in the valley this year, fruit just didn't set
weeds* MANY
happily, the roses like it, too
I try too, and we've had a carbon tax here for quite a while. But I need my car (a Toyota Corolla -- couldn't get a Prius when I needed a car) -- no public transportation comes up this big hill.
Nor can I climb the hill on a bicycle!
I had better get dressed! 134 small words and it was lovely to see you gals!
*poof*
bye Ruby, hope it warms up for you - and the garden
well done, ruby -- and it's my bedtime -- farewell all!...*poof
night Jilli
Have a wonderful day ruby.
lynxxx, how are you today?
pretty good - not to complain about the weather as it is Winter - but I think I need a few days of sunshine to get me going - feeling pretty lethargic lately. And you Peach?
It is around 100 here during the day and down to 70's at night. The only complaint I have is the sun is so hot in the afternoon.....it just cooks my flowers.
Yes, lynxxx, I do believe the weather has a great time playing with my old body. LOL
I'm a bit silly I suppose but I run around putting lengths of shadecloth over plant I don't want scorched - jap. maples/ferns/orchids and the like
That is, indeed, a good idea.
Do you get high humidity there as well?
Yes, very high humidity. It makes breathing difficult.
yes - nasty - dry heat is easier.
How is it there, in the summer?
we would get a few days of century temperatures a few times during the Summer - generally around 80 I suppose - on top of a long drought which only broke 2 years ago so lots of water restrictions. Dams are much fuller now
Well, m'dears, it's about 4:15AM here, so I will round up the critters and put myself down for a few hours sleep. Good luck to all. Later....
Bye Peach - sorry for delay in response - had to go convert tempratures!
That's OK lynxxx. I'm just starting to wind down. Have a great day.
BBL
good morning, Babble friends
Ks Killed
am on a roll... found the 10, a 9 and an 8 all without any clues :D
hi Sprite
hey lyn :) xxx How are you today?
chilled and feeling lazy - how are you?
I am good, have learned new tools to handle my panic attacks and having such good results. Makes a lot of difference in my everyday life :)
and lazy is nice :)
That is very good news
:)
How was your trip to France - a good break for you?
yes, absolutely. I enjoyed my stay with ruby and her husband very much, it was great meeting them and finding we get on perfecly in real life. And the trip was a big challenge for me and I did it - gives me a real boost in self-confidence.
I hadn't realised all the good that would come from the trip - good on you for tackling it
thank you, for asking and for caring :)
and were you glad to get back to your wee dog after the chow puppy! I imagine he would be rather boisterous
he was amazing. He doesn't even reach my knee, but he jumped almost over me! Couldn't stop greeting me, it was so sweet.
and when my love wanted to kiss me, terra put his silly head in between :D
lol...he was probably smelling the strange dog smell and wondering what the hell you had been up to
yeah quite possible :) The chows are adorable, btw. But huge. Not just in size, when one is used to a cavalier. But so massive!
oh I know - large lumps! but then most spitz dog are on the hefty side - built for the cold and hard work I suppose
yes I think so too. But very sweet and also very funny. They have a mind of their own. I like that.
and they seem very devoted to their owners
oh they are. It was very noticeable.
See you later Sprite - taking a break for dinner
bye lyn, have a nice evening and enjoy your meal

it does indeed!
DOH!!!!!
ok, BBL -- HAGD! *poof*
well, I got up early to do some work before it gets too hot to think, so I'd best get on with it - bbl!
Over the last weeks we have had sun then rain followed by sun then rain all day. My garden is blooming green and lush. Grey all day yesterday and today so far.
I now think of June July as the rainy season and summer fits into September as the kids return to school!
We certainly don't get summers like that here Pat
I know Bichon. In the sixties all but my family left for Australia and all are still with you and naturalized. Grandparents, aunts, uncles, brother and family, neighbours etc etc and ALL tell me what the weather is like. My dad wouldn't leave here then died in a work's accident. Probably still be alive if he had emigrated. That's so life!

hello everyone!
molly i have a message from lil monkey for you
Hey Lil Bit
hey!
hi lilbt
hi molly
she wanted me let let you know that she thinks someone might have hacked into your email. she sent me a text this morning saying she had gotten an email from you stating that you were in spain and had been mugged. you were asking for money! she had to get to work and asked me to pass it on. might want to check into it!
hey lbd!
Yeah, that happened. I have made efforts to fix it. Thanks for passing on the message.
oh good! at least you know, she was conceerned about you!
this is a hack that i have seen before ladies.everyone check your email security.what it does is gather all the email addys on your computer and sends this message out in your name
Apparently there is an email hack going around. If you get an email from your provider asking you to "verify your email address" don't respond to it. No matter how official it looks.
yes, it is good to know and be reminded of.
if you were full compromised, everyone on your mailing list will get this message
good morning all and how many words today and thanks
217
yaaa! found a 9:)
Thanks for the heads up, Lilbit. I have a friend who works for my email provider and he's looking into it.
good, glad to hear it
hopefully it wil all be resolved for you soon
hello gang
hey hursh!!
this is a good week. wednesdays should be off every week.
i agree!
For me this week rather sucks. no two ways about it, and I have M-W off, grrrr.
why does it suck?
Work is irritating me when I am off work. Running is not going too well, its beastly hot...and I can not fix any work problems when I am off work. So I just have to sit and stew in them.
is there somewhere you can go to swim?
and i need to get my day started. have to be at work later and lots of stuff to get done before that! bbl and happy babbling all!!
bye bit
Yes, I did yesterday, it did not really help cheer me up much, I should not complain, I mean Ido have central air.
i run in place in the house with wii fit plus
what is the work trouble?
Super hursh!
Totally get it red. It's bad out there!
I made a few errors that I am beating myself up for...In the end it should be ok, but I think the transition of new job is just beating me donw.
did anybody die?
Hi Champ. It is bad. I have a run date with someone who is slower than me this weekend, and I think that may help to go her pace.
Oh no hursh, it did not involve patients. One of the errors involved working from home electronically.
I'm trying to adjust. It's easy to go out there and overdo, then you just crater. I need to even it out more.
well if nobody died then i don't think you should beat yourself up too much.
I mean, literally, I am in trouble for working from home for about 20 minutes one day, which I was doing to be in accordance with state notification laws.
That sounds frustrating.
well then why did they get upset about it?
So yes, no one died. No one came close to death and I did not access anything I do not have access to.
THe wage laws and labor laws.
so the state notification laws conflicted with the wage and labor laws?
I have a new job Hursh, and I have not touched a patient for about 3 months.
There are certain diseases that if we have a positive lab test, by law we must Call immediately to the state. We had one, I was notified by the lab downtown and was looking at the info to see if I needed to do more on the Saturday. But, it could have waited until Monday.
You know, Hurshy, the more I am discussing this, the more ridiculous it does seem!
seems like a bit of a silly thing to make a fuss over. i'm sorry this happened to you.
But you had the information, and the means to check, and anyone would've been tempted to do the same.
There are some disadvantages to working for a hospital that is 20 years behind the rest on certain things.
Well, and legally I am supposed to call the state.
The top row middle E hates me.
well i hope you can put it behind you
try en in place of un and what you might do at the end of a long day.
maybe watch a nice movie. i can't help being cheered up when i watch "bringing up baby".
ennap? enrest?
Thank you!
TY Red. Hello
I think Hursh that after a few weeks it will all be fine. I tend to dwell on things and I do not like to do things wrong....so I am embarassed and also kind of sad. I just need a bit of time to recover my bruised self!
Hi Lynxxxx.
eo6.18 a person who lives in Eo?
or hursh, en plus the thing that blows...
i am the same way red. that is why i own bringing up baby. :) and pg wodehouse books
thanks got it
the other one is en4.8
usually I run it off, but the running has been bad. But I do know that these moments pass.
Are you hurting, or is it the summer humidity and heat?
I think its the heat. Plus I have gained 8 pounds making it much harder to run than before.
ty Lynxxx!
How are you doing Champ?
Ok. The heat is oppressive, but I'm trying to hydrate like crazy and just go with it. This time of year it's just miles on my feet. Not pretty, but getting it done.
Thanks Lynxx!!!!
Any big races? I am excited to be doing a Ragnar in january.
Good morning!
what's that? I'm looking forward to doing back to back Halfs for the end of the world. 12/21 and 12/22. Just to say I did them.
name that proper noun! tennis player Ivan
Hello Scrabs
Hi Scrabbler!!!
Lendl
good morning!
Neat Champ, the Ragnar is a relay from Miami to the Florida Keys....I am doing it just to say i did it as well, plus it is social.
What is a Ragnar race, red?
ding ding ding!
UGH. I'm no good on relays unless I somehow get some sleep. But yes, very social!
Scrabbler gets it!!! I kept trying it as a word in the grid...which is it sort of...
Did one from Gonzales TX to the San Jacinto Monument. ONE. No replay needed. ;)
That is a long relay.
I hope I will maintain my happy personality throughout...I am one of the slowest on the team.
I did not, and my friends were in shock and just how crabby I could be at 3 a.m. on zero sleep. Haven't lived it down yet!
What distance will you run, Red?
there are 12 runners, each run 3 legs scrabbs of about 5-7 iles each time. And yes Champ, my friends rented out a hotel room one of the nights...which I thought was very smart. Many in the not soon legs napped better.
My legs are 4,6 and 4 I think. I got the tiny legs.
Champ, I am now a bit worried, as I get very cranky with no sleep, but..I can sleep pretty good anywhere.
Ok you all have cheered me a bit. I am going to get ready for the rest of my day off...
Well, good luck. I cannot run far at all because I am overweight.
Sorry...got a phone call. You go girl!!!
But I can hike and bike
lower N?
also looking
I'm just looking for anything
i hate that entrails is only a plural.
but you can get en + choochoo and pt.
ni5.10 ni & a negative prefix - foolish word
I thought you meant an5 for entrails. Cow stomach, actually.
ty lynxxx
TY, Lynxxx
no i meant literally :)
I have hit the wall with 116 to go, after typing quickly for the last 20 min.
well i got lots of 7's and 2 of the 8's and both 9's, but cannot find the 10.
de8, en8, te9, en9, in case anyone wants.
sprite in here?
te10 Hursh - same as the 9
ah gee
the 10 is an en word starting from the bottome right
she was a while ago Cross, probably finished
what about the third 8?
ty lynxx,i forget the time difference sometimes
Good morning, earthly dwellers.
en10 starts from bottom right
Hi new entrants
i think you must mean en9, uncover. lynxxx was right about te10.
oh dear SC!!! pb!
Judi, I have been dwelling in the earth while gardening
ooh Scrabs - naughty
>>>>>off you go, Scrabbs
I didn't fi4 that word yet.
i don't suppose anyone else here is a fan of "falling skies"?
Sounds lovely, Scrabbs. Wish we could have a garden. Alas, the wildlife would eat everything.
I have seen TV ads--looks interesting
it is. it's not absolute first class tv, but it's still compelling.
Oh, the critters are eating some of my garden--impatiens, daisies, tulips.
And then there's the Japanese beetles. Little rat bastards.
Slugs---nibble away at my hostas.
Hursh - do you have the en8.45?
We're so outnumbered by bugs and animals it's pathetic.
when i was visiting my mother in law recently i walked in the mornings, and i passed this house that had a little box out front with a mesh cover and it said "rare japanese red bats - keep hands away from cage". the third time, i decided to take a look. they were baseball bats. :)
de + li4/4 should be a word--remove tiny bits of cloth from freshly laundered clothes.
slugs - ugh! get the salt out and/or encourage the birds
no lynxxx that must be the one i am missing
Haha, Hursh
better work at it then Hursh
yes there got it thanks!
I don't want to kill the slugs, I just want them to stay away from mygarden.
yep, I was talking en 9, little brain dead here this morning
I hate slugs - no good for anything except bird food - disgusting little creatures
I have heard that slugs like beer. If you put out a shallow pan of beer, the slugs will flock to it and leave your precious greenery alone.
how funny
supposed to be good for snails too - never worked for me
A horrible waste of beer, but desperate times call for Budweiser measures.
Slugs can be food for other animals.
I have lots of toads.
loads of toads
Yep, and they are cute.
Toads are very beneficial. We love our toads.
Don't toads eat slugs?
Clue for en10 please?
no en10. te10.
Aha, that explains why I cannot find en10. Let me look for te10.
I have no idea if toads eat slugs. Someone call Alex Trebek and get a ruling on that.
Dr Google states that toads and snakes eat slugs.
Slugs are a great meal for amphibians. Other animals that like slugs are snakes, lizards, raccoons, and spiders
Huzzah!
alex trebek had a heart attack or something recently. like last week i think.
Mama raccoon and her 8 babies can eat the slugs in my gardens.
must be damn big spiders to eat a slug though
Yes, I saw that, H.
te10----number and to have a cavity in your tooth fi6 the dentist dr5--past tense
I'm sure you have plenty of big spiders in Austrailia, lynxxx.
hello AnnieB
TY Annie!

Good morning!
good morning car ! Quiet in here it seems.
That's OK..I can only stay for a few minutes.
hi car and diane!
Hi uusue!
hi Sue :-)
finished another chapter of physics problems so I am taking a break :-)
Good girl!
and so you should... it's supposed to be summer break
I just read your profile car... very positive... I like it !
I try...but not always that good at it!
I like your pictures too.... and LOVE your fridge, if it belongs to you !
Actually...it belongs to my mom! Those are all her pics. I can only squeeze one or two of my boys on there!
But...in every house I have lived in...my fridge ends up like that too!
you must have children :-) My fridge has never had a clean front for almost 50 years.... kids, grandkids, pictures,... their artwork, etc.
Yup! Love it!
my son is 22 now, so my fridge is not quite so cluttered.
But, I must say... that fridge is a work of art...filled frame to frame !
Stats for the K please?
Although he still comes by and hangs up an exam or assignment of which he is particularly proud, which I think is really cute!
ko4/8, ko5/18
....like it :-)
(they are not related)
That is awesome uusue! I love that!
so now I have C++ programming assignments on my fridge :-)
Got them both. TY uusue!
yw!
And stats please for the single N in the fourth column?
ni5/10
TY! Got that one too!
I have NBT, so I am off to walk to the bank. Ugh. I cannot wait for my car!
((((car))) hoping for a quick arrival of car's car!
This weekend!
have a nice day :-)
I will diane! It was nice to "see" you!
{{hugs}} for all!
same here.... I don't chat much but I do "know" most of you :-)
OK, I should probably go have some breakfast. bbs!
enjoy... I just finished mine !
good morning
aww, man! silent for 35 minutes? I came here to procrastinate, and an empty chog is not helpful.
Shh. We're asleep.

welcome back crossy
hey all, just a few minutes, and Grant and I will wander over to the next town to try to get a learner's permit for him -- he wants to begin learning to drive. And has finally managed to earn that privilege from us. :-)
I only need 217 more! :-)
go mama go
LOL 200...
does he take the written test to get the permit?
yes. I suspect he will pass it no problem. The other alternative is to enroll him in driver's ed and he automatically gets a permit. BUT... we have required the boys to show they are ready for the class by studying enough to pass the written test.
good to give them the responsibility to earn the priviledge
I thought so -- we also require a certain level of grades... but did bend a little for this kid -- he'll have to bring the GPA up before he gets his license, though! With only a permit, our insurance doesn't go up yet.
there. NBT. *heavy sigh* how is it that I can be ready to go in 15 minutes and it takes the kid nearly an HOUR???
congrats on NBT - that was quick
didn't feel quick... I am totally stumped how there can be 9 Ns from the second row, for example. oh well. how's the weather for you, teach? It's mostly rainy here (again), but there are moments of thinning in the cloud layer.
we are so dry the grass is already brown and crunchy - unusually hot (week all above 90s) - where are you at?
PAC NW, south end of the Salish Sea (Puget Sound)
ah, he emerges! :-)
we were out on the Olympic Peninsula last summer
have fun with getting his permit
It's a pretty area. Did you go by Brinnon and see the rhodie gardens there? They also have a restaurant with killer pies... and the lavender festival is a lot of fun too, up in Port Angeles
LOL thanks. At least it's just a computer test today. Instant feedback.
oh, he is NOT ready yet *bang head, facepalm*
we stayed in Forks to enjoy the coast - went in to Port Townsend for the fiddle festival and a whale trip
nice!
you know, more than 30 years since we've been back and I have never gone on a whale boat... sometimes there are whales that come up the inlet near Mother's though -- I saw one once. VERY rare for our part of the Sound, though.
drove out to BC for a wedding and then enjoyed travelling around WA, and Wyoming
I think Wyoming is one of the states I haven't been to, yet. But maybe someday. I would like to see Yellowstone and some of the other big national parks.
Went to Yellowstone and Tetons - beautiful area. Went to Mt Rainier also
it's really pouring down now. Oh well, should fill my teacup and wander off. I really enjoy Rainier. Going to take Grant on some day trips this summer and Rainier, St. Helens, the coast, the peninsula... And a day or two just in Seattle doing things we don't normally do (usually we go to the science fiction museum).
down to 120, that's a nice number to come back to. enjoy your day, teach - hope things cool down for you and you get some precipitation soon.
*poof*
We were on Mt St Helens before it erupted and also two years afterwards. My husband is a geologist - had a perit to collect from areas there so we have specimens in our basement from t St Helens - was always handing out small containers of ash to kids at school and used pumice from there to demonstrate with
it is now time for crossy,s tidbit of the day!!! and a very interesting one i might add.. seems if you remove all the people from new york city all at once, the local ambient temperature would fall by almost a full degree
and it would become more pleasant in other ways....
(am I becoming curmudgeonly in my old age?)
and hi crossy and wv, if you are still here...
howdy suze:)
hello sue
and no you are not.i find that as i get older a serene place with a good book is beyond price
it is serene here but too hot
too hot and also too dry
warm here as well, but we have the canned air going
yes, the thunderstorms, although violent, haven't really contributed much rain
here it rained just enough to drive the humidex through the roof
evening all. here we've had 2 inches sunce Sunday afternoon.
got the humidity but didn't even get rain - did get a violent sdtorm last Friday that still has people without power
hi Glant! You're probably not sweltering, either!
we had storms Friday but the Sunday ones were worse, some of Chicago and the suburbs are still without power as well
Blooming freezing - about 18C
Thye are calling it the Eauropean monsoon, we've had about 5 weeks of mostly rainy weather
31C here which is actually not as bad as yesterday
and the forecast for the next 5 days is - rain. I am off work and had vague delusions of doing some gardening, and sitting in the garden with a good book.
and our forecast for the next 5 days is hot and dry. I am also staying inside :-)
Not sure which os better - at least I can put a sweater om, I start to melt at 30C
yes, I am pretty melted
i also start melting at 30c
i would rather 30 below than 90f that is for sure
clue for the de6 plz

not following the clue mom

Good clue Mag. And no one would have gotten the corn stuff, so good you didn't try it. That's just ofr us 'mericans. : D
hi molly
Hey Ruby.
you mean everybody doesn't eat corn po** and/or grits?
<-- loves Southern cooking
not grits, though
I don't eat them Ruby and I live in the south. lol
I don't even know what the corn stuff is - or grits for that matter
I remembered molly's adage, "where's there's betting, there's a volcano!"
grits has/have no taste but if you add butter and white gravy, they're not bad. Of course, you could put buter and white gravy on a shoe and it would taste good
not sure what white gravy i either :-)
how about chicken-fried steak, mom?
grits are a ground corn porridge stuff-- similar to the fa6 word in the grid
very bland, without redeeming qualities, but delicious
chicken fried steak is a definite yes
with beforementioned gravy and a fried egg on top
white gravy is also called country gravy and is usually made from the drippings of fried sausage, chicken, etc
quite like porridge made with oats so grits sound OK
so is it white?
or just light brown?
More off-white :-)
pretty much, but I've only had it in restaurants, so no expert
wonder how it's made then
probably a roux first, then sausage drippings and water?
I make a roux of flour and milk and a bit of corn starch and add it to a small amount of the drippings
sounds a little flavourless
that's why I like it!
add some salt and a generous amount of black pepper
guess I'd need to taste it
If your sausage has good seasoning the gravy has good flavor
we have really good sausages if you know where to look
It's a religion in this part of the country :-) Hubby made me sausage, biscuits and gravy for breakfast in bed.
aaah, UK breakfasts!
and Southern breakfasts!
I tasted biscuits in Oregon a couple fo years ago - with gravy
they are like a cross between a British scone, and white bread
the French don't eat real breakfasts, but we do: veal sausage, poached eggs, cottage cheese and toast
we usually have our sausages with buttery mashed potato and onion gravy and peas
glant-may also be the difference in the sausage we use which is a pork sausage that has spicy seasoning
it's usually called "breakfast sausage"
good night everybody. As usual, all this talk of food made me want a second dinner!
we have well seasoned sausages, but not spicy - although they are adding chilli to everything these days (hate chilli)
nos da Ruby
night ruby
I need to make myself some dinner too
and nos da to you, glant, with a hug!
sausage and mash maybe LOL
and I'm off to deliver magazines
'night mom
back to procrastinate some more

You missed a lot of boring, polite chat.
Yes TO.
you must have been gone too then, Molly :P
ty
if someone can pls clue the very first ad word...

... sorry ... sould be + last three quarters of 3 feet
Thank you very much!
I imagine people have been cluing that as French daggar all day. Like that's helpful.
... if you've read Cyrano in the french it is ...
As I'm sure just everyone has. Really, I mean who hasn't? : P
... don't you guys send your kids to french immersion school for twelve years and then have to find ways of helping them with their homework ... ... my goodness it's an easy life you lead down there ...
... but then I'll guess you have or will have Spanish immersion ... and then think of all the babble words you'll get
if we had scottish immersion, we'd be all set
haha... except I only try the spanish words that aren't in the grid, never the ones that are
... ach aye ...
anyway, break's over. back at night time, probably with wine.

Hi everyone. Just fed Murphy and he is back outside helping his "Dad."
hi stidgemere :) bless him
ta6 18 scottish plaid
hi stidge
Hi lilliann. Well We have had a quiet day here on the inlet. I dropped a dime down a drain yesterday and by the time the plumber completes the job of putting in a new trap, it will be the most expensive recovered money in the world.
oh dear...not good stidgemere.perhaps you should frame it!
I think it is already spent, Lilliann.
or use it as a charm on a bracelet or necklace
i think you could be right stidgemere :(
is a dime, one pence in british money?
or is that a cent?
A dime is ten cents in US money. I don't know the English equivalent.
then i think 1 cent is a penny and a dime 10p
half way
yay jes
google says 1 pence is a penny
but that was from 2009
hi cos :)
oh ok, thanks cos and hi
this is the last year that canada will mint pennies. and as they hit the banks now, they will be recalled and melted
huh. how will you manage to continue pricing things at 0.99 then?
boy i bet that'd piss people off if they did it in the States...
all sales will be rounded to the nearest 5 cents after tax
they had to,it was costing 2 cents to make a penny
you'll have to keep some crossy. we have "old pennies" which are bigger than our 2p piece now and we use them to play cards
interesting.... that is how we used to play monopoly cause the ones were so useless
stats for the k please?
i hope we don't get rid of our pennies. we got rid of our half pennies, years ago, and changed alot of the coins as inh size and bought in more coins as in the £2 coin
there are so many in jars and sock drawers,it will be years before they are gone altogether
ko4,8 and ko5,18
ryan always keeps an eye out for old pennies, then we trade them with his own, then cash them in. He usually gets 2.50 for each old pennyhe finds and 3.00 for each dime
sorry jes, that is my only tile that is nb
nbt
tell him to go to the books store and get the u.s red book coin catalogue, just so they do not rip him off
ah, ty lil
even our pennies we use now and the tuppences, if they are a certain date, they are worth some money. i used to save them but haven't given up looking at the dates now
the store shows us the red book before giving us cash :)
yw dorens
but grade of course is everything
good stuff cos
one of the kos is about money and the other is like the black stuff that burns only maybe this is makeup.
nice clues g'mere
ty dorens.
thanks stidmere!
weird.. en+ tr5/10 is not a word, but is in plural form.
lillian,on a note of interest we ran large pennies here in canada much like your 2p coins, but only untill1920,then from 1921 0n we had the small ones we use today with slight varriations

*wanders back in*
Heya jes
I was just wondering if I'd killed the chat completely.... hi torg :)
LOL Molly. Once, while I was living in CT....I was in the grocery and riding the little cart.....trying to reach the top shelf....now it was summer and I had on a bright pink sun hat and this nice young man came over and asked if I needed help and I said, Oh, thank you so much.....I need someone to reach the top shelf. He smiled and said, "I just knew you were going to say....I've always relied on the kindness of strangers." He grinned.
peach, that's hilarious!
Lawdy Ms. Scarlett
I kind of like being older.....we can get away with so many more "Honey and Darlin' than when we were in our youth and wildhood.
Tennessee Williams. hi all.
Hey there, mab. How you be?
hey, mab :-)
and the older we get the more we can away with.
It's so much fun, Mab. : D
my mom was a real southern belle -- her good friend in chicago called her Magnolia :-)
Sweet, Unea.
Just looked at your profile....lovely animal. I'm so glad there are people in the world like you.
peach, the most wonderful couple adopted her -- folks who adopt senior dogs are really special
I have a neighbor who rescues cats and often transport some to far away places....well, she takes them to meet someone who will get them there.
I agree, Unea.
that's what I do, peach -- i drive a leg or two of a route that can sometimes go all the way to Canada
i'm really nuts about dogs LOL
Une is part of the underground railroad for animals. : D
Molly, that's funny you would say that -- that's what I called it when I first started participating a few years ago :-)
Unea, I had forgotten you are in Nashville. I love that town. I was brought up in Owensboro, KY, only about an hour and a half from there.
cool, peach!
Well, it works the same way. Except you don't have to hide them while you transport. : )
true, molly :-)
ga, you lived in CT? Where?
it's amazing how many people are involved in animal rescue these days . . .
Norwich, bichon. Was there for 7 long, hard years.
The people we got Marco and Polo from, Small Paws rescue take lots of puppy mill dogs
Yes, Norwich, the armpit of CT
such cute names, bichon :-)
That's for sure, bichon.
Independence Day trivia: John Adams and Jefferson died on July 4, 1826. The fiftieth anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
Thomas Jefferson
Went to a web sit which offered dog pair names. Lots of cutesy poo ones. This seemed better for two bonded guys
I don't think I've been to Norwich. Norwalk is pretty bad in and of itself, thoguh
hey, harry
hi une!
hi harry
hi jes!
howdy, jes :-)
and, Louis Armstrong celebrated his birthday on the fourth. He actually was born 4 August, but I don't think he knew that. Never saw his birth certificate.
Norwalk has some nice parts, but I doubt that of Norwich
for those that wish it,have a picture of our bombay kitty and a few shot of a pretty river near our house on my fb wall
from google: Norwich, known as "The Rose of New England,"
crossy!
Bich, pack your flimsy stuff. Temperatures are to be between 97 and 100 for the next four days. : O
thought of you, crossy, when I saw some maple bacon yogurt at Whole Foods :-)
I've been close to there - we've gone to Westerly RI for vacation twice
oh, please. That must be from years ago. Most of the cities in CT are not beautiful
On Fri. AM we are going to b.i.l.'s river house. Hopefully it will be cooler
back in a mo *poof*
Westerly is nice
my ex was born in Greenwich. had relatives in Old Lyme.
and on Fisher's Island
yeah - we cross teh border so we can tell the kids we're on vacaton in a different state, but it's a close drive from new haven
The only thing I miss are the casino's. Mohegan Sun (my favorite) and Foxwoods were about 5 minutes from where I lived. Didn't gamble much but saw some great concerts.
I lived in greenwich for a year. it was horrible
ty une,but sounds very sweet;)
I didn't realize you were in N.H. Harry
We have a pretty solid New England contingent here.
9 years now, bichon + 1 in greenwich
My youngest daughter works in Old Lyme. Quaint little towns about.
really? William's father's place was lovely. big house. later his step mother moved to a smaller house, also lovely.
Old Lyme is nice
Where in NH doe you live? My daughter lives n Wes Haven
we lived in the po' part of greenwich. lots of roaches, lots of noise
we're in westville, bichon
I didn't know there was a part like that.
west haven is having fireworks now - we were invited out to see them on the shore, but couldn't make it
I've been to New London. My Dad went to The Coast Guard Academy.
Westville's nice. always go through it from Woodbridge taking Mom to the doctor at Yale
westville is a suburban area just west of downtown - used to be an indpendent town
oh - you mean a poor part of greenwich :)
Harry, guess my daughter and her family are out seeing them. Middletown's having them tonight too
yes - we lived in hospital housing. right down the street from greenwich hospital
There's a religious Jewish population in Westville
that's us, bichon :)
I'll bet that's where William was born. Family lived in Manhattan but birthed babies in Greenwhich.
bichon, the pups are so sweet. Are they Westies?
you get a lobster dinner when you deliver at greenhosp
They're Bichons. The only kind we've ever had.
They're Bichons. The only kind we've ever had.
you're a doctor, harry?
wife is, mab. I'm a dr, but not the kind who can do you any good.
academic or pathologist?
though if you want to know about groundwater contamination, I can bore you silly
bichon, of course. Beautiful babies.
yes, the dogs are adorable.
Love my pups
Hard to belive, a year and a half ago they were wandering the streets of California
<--Once worked for an environmental publisher. Has been bored silly by groundwater contamination already, thanks. : )
Oh, my!
poor doggies
molly :) which publisher???
harry we once had a home,a nice home at the base of a gentle hill near a small town.at the top of the hill was a farm that raised cattle for beef..the rain water one season caused cattle feaces to run down the hill and leech into our water source and contaminate the wells of our home and 3 homes on either side of us
But, they live a great life now, Air conditioning, heat in the winter, nutritious meals, lots of love
ugh crossy....there's a scientific term for that - gross.
That's why I always wanted a house with city water supply. Chlorinated water, gone through a Britta filter
my phd advisor always said to get a house with septic or well, but not both :)
heh. that's a problem out in the middle of nowhere, harry
woohoo finished
woot! Harry
yeah - you just have to make sure the septic is downgradient from the well
indeed!
hi folks
hi welki :)
harry is so polite, so tactful a way to say, "sh** always runs downhill"
we used to dump gallons of bleach down our well just to make it safe for dishes and showers and had to haul in water fro drinking after the cattle run off
crossy - there are tablets that we used to use - anytime you open a wellhead you dump a load of these chlorine tablets down.
I've been out of the field now for more than 10 years, though.
Congrats, Harry!
this was long ago harry in the 70,s

andy griffith died. i'm in mourning.

Thanks crosshair!
Aw, mab. He was a great actor.
R.I.P. Andy Griffith
i loved his songs
they buried him within 5 hours after his death in a private service on roanoke island to avoid papparatzi
on both of the tv series he would sing these little country or folk kind of songs.
maybe he was jewish:)
I think that all the papparazzi are following Katie and Tom

Glad you got your power back, 2Bit.
Thank you Peach. Chocolate is always welcome.

Yep, it is thundering here as well, Min.

I do have ice cream but.. I could eat them separately. Thatd give me two junk food servings!
Stopping at 162 words.I will try a story before I lose power.
May I please have a clue for po7-36? Thanks
If I suddenly disappear, it is because I have lost my power.
Hope you don't, Min.
Me too!
po7/36...small horse with different last letter + kids play in the back y***.

Thanks much, Molly.
May I please have a clue for tr7/32? Thanks
I have past tense of the tr5/10
And there is another, that sounds like a fold-out bed, with a different middle vowel.
the one after rhymed with the waxed light source
A tr 7/32 word rhymes with Nook's competition megsy8512
Thanks Molly

ooookay. in case anybody wonders, "Lifeforce" is a really bizarre movie.
i told the vet she's one kewl cat now in all ways LOL
What in the world made you watch a movie about space vampires?
bruce...
apparently he read a review that said boobies were plentiful or something... but the nudity we4 rapidly downward as the weird we4 steadily up
dracula:3000 takes place in space
also, I like sci-fi, in general. but the "science" in this one was, er, sketchy (at best)
i haven't seen that, cos
it was.... ok lol
heheh. such a ringing endorsement!
howdy howdy
its a good late night sat movie with popcorn
howdy, viajes
oooh, space vampires! I am clearly in the right chog
has anyone seen the one about Nazis in space?
heheh. I think lifeforce would be good with wine... it certainly had the cheese to go with it.
oops. pb :(
I haven't, via... does it also need impairment to truly enjoy it? :D
I haven't seen it, just heard of it
Hebrew Hammer?
nazis in space? didnt mel brooks joke about that in history of the world?

en7,28 the second, please?
a person who walks in a door?

that's okay. I needed it anyway
i blame the space vampires.
lol :)
space Nazi vampires! they're the worst
<---Still wonders why grown ups use the word "boobies"
what brought that on, Molly?
cuz it's a fun word? :D
me, and a comment I made earlier, via
I've never liked it... oh, must have missed it
don't worry, molly, I have no qualms using correct anatomical names, and usually get a good laugh out of breeders who can't force themselves to say the words "penis" or "vulva"
boobies is kind of a silly word, and i was talking about a very silly movie, so it seemed appropriate
No silliness in the chat log! It is not allowed!
*raspberry*
silly chog = the terrorists win
Actually, it's more men that use that word that make me wonder.
the terrorists already WON, via. have you been to an airport lately?
fa6/27 the last?
Yeah, blame the men again
fa6: some kind of hot cereal?
I don't use boobies
gaaaah. thankee, gwen
no use for them at all, right, cos?
exactly!
heheheh
first en 8/45? (or the en6/18 before it, if they're related)

thanks. that's both of them
i will probably need beaten with a fish stick for asking, but... in5/12?
can anyone give a clue for the last in 6? P&TY
in6 is what you mean by something
in 5/12 is you for not seeing it. ;-)
bahahahahahahhaha. excellent, thanks, hokie :)

in5/16 light Peach. Helps you see in the dark.
in7,28?
ah, thanks. I tried the verb form and could not think of it as a noun for some reason.
Blarg in5/16 red light
peach, think of it as part of a large word - in5 + st8
Thanks, Molly, I think I have that as in6-18. Just need the 5-16 above it.
in7/28 is like the en7/28...one who joins a contest.
oh, thanks.
ty jes... weird spelling
No, the camp dwelling clue was for Hokie. The in5 red light clue was for you, Peach
that's not a word!
shhh! if you acknowledge that Enable makes mistakes, the terrorists win
them darn terrorists again
*senses a trend in via's warnings*
here's the real question though... would you rather have the terrorists win, or the vampire space Nazis?
uhh terrorists
*Runs screaming into the night*
at least they'll kill me instead of suck my blood, do experiments then gas me
I just wanna finish the grid so I can go to bed!
I'm pretty sure most of these I have left are not real words.
what do you still need, gwen?
8 more
pe6
na6/18

Jee, think of hair
2 left here.....have had good clues but can't see where the cat-hair the letters go. ta6-18 the 1st and le7-28 please.....thannks
oooh a 10 letter word.... wish i had sgtarted earlier...
Thanks Une. Not sure I have that te7 either. Cant see word list. Can you help a little more please?
le 7, adj. relating to the li4/4, king of the animals
te7/9/10 all related
te7: number + what u do with a screw, minus last letter
te9 is pt of the 7....
te10 is number + what u do with screws, pt
the first ta6, peach, is an alt spelling of the first te 5. think how old fashioned spellings sometimes have a silent vowel.
Op4/5ed this website at ni4/4 this morning and I le 4/5 into the grid. I to 6/21 with the puzzle for several hours and then gave up. now I will le 4/5 a hand with a story. Hubby and I were doing just fi4/7 until about two years ago. Then we started to dr 5/18 apart. There is a ri 4/7 between us that is deeper than the Grand Canyon. Our arguments have dr7/36 me.We have fa6/30 each other in this marriage. I think it is not fa 4/7 for him to depe 4/6 on me for money and he thinks it is not fa 4/7 that all I do is criticize him. It has gotten so bad that he now fl5/16s & fr4/7ernizes with other women in front of me We also talk to each other in a nasty to4/4 all the time. I used to want to work it out, but no4/4 of that matters anymore. There is no real po 5/12 in trying to save our marriage. We cannot seem to fulfi 4/7 each other's needs. I hope one day I can fi 4/8 happiness again. It is my inte4/4 to do so. If I don't give it to him he wi4/8 get all ri5/12 up and ra4/4 and rave and cause a ri4/4. I'm going to da 4/5 on out of here and go watch a film no** on IFC.
