Clues are up
yay for the clues!
thank you
hi melon
yay indeed
hi jilli, torgone, cos, mrp, mel, erda. where is everybody?
hi mab
nbt
maybe watching Olympics, mab? I have them on here in the computer room.
wtg mab
I'm watching the Olympics ;)
no, but i'd like to. i think one can get them on the computer - bbc or something.
off to the clues,
i do love the beeb
I'm watching CTV
i don't have tv, so listen to tons of non-commercial radio. i'm a news junky.
cant really watch them here.all time delayed
stupid nbc
somewhere on line one can watch in real time. it's without commentary though. each entity that broadcasts it puts in its own chatter.
it's time delayed here too -- we get NBC as well as CTV plus a bunch of others but it's been a busy day for me so I'm just sticking with the Canadian channel that's easiest.
real time would be almost in the middle of the night here.
miner miners
nbs, btw. Nobody notice my nbt earlier :-(
oops
I have those ones Jilli ;)
hi bugs :-)
I watched a lot today. I am not athletic but love to watch
I had bridge here this afternoon -- no chance to watch but am catching up now
i'm extremely non athletic. do yoga though.
I used to swim competitively -- long, long ago
hi, all. my daughter's surgery went well. she is sore, but healing, and she is home.
oh that's interesting. swimming is a great sport.
What kind of surgery Angel?
well that's good news, angel.
hi angel -- didn't know about your daughter's surgery -- what was it for?
Jillibus, that's neat you used to swim competively!
jilli has the most interesting life.
I was just a child and would have loved to continue, but did too much moving around. Did race in the late 1960s ater years of not doing so, and almost beat an Olympic swimmer.
Had a great coach in Shanghai!
i'm reading a book about an englishman who was orphaned while living in shanghai, was returned to england, and now is wondering what happened really to his parents.
Kazuo Ishiguro's 'When We Were Orphans'
one of my favorite authors
What time period was that boook set in?
oh, i forgot to say. let's see... he is fresh from cambridge and it's about 1930.
Fresh from Cambridge? But wasn't he orphaned as a chile? I'm confused.
*child
he was sent back to england as a child to live with an aunt.
Angel, what kind of surgery did your daughter have?
after his parents vanish
Well, I was there in 1930 (age 3). There was a war between the Chinese and Japanese in 1933ish.
hello, and peach? angel's daughter had an appendicectomy last night
oh, I see ow. Is this a true story?
*now (I'm tired!)
Hi there, Rose. Thanks for the info....will put her on prayer list.
I'm sorry, not being clear. He is a young adult in the 1930s in London.
no, a novel.
thanks, granny -- glad angel's daughter is okay now. Appendectomies are rare these days, aren't they? And much safter than they used to be before antibiotics.
he is reflecting back on when he was a child in shanghai.
she's already on mine, lol. and how are all my babble friends. i'm sorry for not paying a lot of attention to the chog....but this grid is fantastic, flowing so well
I should get that book, mab!
he's a very interesting writer.
jilli, they are as numerous as usual, at least where i work. and as you say, with the AB's available nowadays, so much safer
i have no appendix. it's a mystery.
I'll google him, mab.
Wow, mab -- you're unique.
he was born in japan, but has been in england most of his life.
Interesting, mab!
a freak of nature.
he wrote Remains of the Day, which was made into a movie.
over halfway with nbt and nbs so I can go to bed.
That title sounds familiar -- I think I saw the movie.
daniel day lewis was in it i think
and anthony hopkins as the butler
one of my favourite actors, and one of the best films he made, mab
and the actress who used to be married to kenneth branaugh (sp)
fw's here
I remember -- a Merchant Ivory movie
he's brilliant
yes.
wow Granny. well done
Emma Thompson
wow! well done gran.
Congrats, Rose!
lol, thanx bugs, as i said an easy grid
yes, thank you.
Yowser, granny!!!
and thanx to mab, peach, jilli
Not so easy for this tired kid, granny.

if something is broken (re Don and Burt), can't you tell right away? I figured if B. could make it up the st***, nothing was broken.
fantastic, I'll put the kettle on :)
well, when i st6 fractured my ankle years ago, although it was painful, the xrays didn't show anything. Dr thinks Don may have fractured his tibial plateau, and may need to wear a splint for about 6 weeks.
aaarghh, that's bad timing!
but the bathroom is starting to look fantastic. the new floor tiling is done. and the af5 mentioned handbasin is installed.
besides looking good, is it usable?
fors
hey, mother mac will just have to pull her horns in, won't she? and her daughter might just have to take over her care for a few weeks....and in the process find out what Don and i go through everyday, 24/7
that sounds sensible and fa**!
oh, yes, ruby. the shower is a dream. with the new plumbing we have great water-pressure
just a bit of sanding to walls and ceiling, paint, and plumb the new toilet and bath in. and we are done. been a long 2 years. but worth it.

Does anyone else have a glitch today? It says I have the 225 words, but it's not giving me fireworks, it says I'm still missing an fa6 word, but I'm positive I entered all of them....help anyone?
It is working ok for me so far. I have

I always wondered when you aren't seen for a long time if your vision got too bad
I have glasses for use with the computer. Has made a big difference
very good to hear
Are you pretty much done packing and ready to go?
done packing at home - need to finish up at work. movers arrive at the house in the morning, then will need to clean the place tomorrow night. I will check out with HR Tuesday and wrap final stuff up. Pick up my check Wednesday then hit the road, I hope, if all goes without incident
moving is stressful - I must remember not to do this again
or at least, to take more time off next time if I do
I have moved many times .... not fun
indeed
You are working with people that really need you.
I hope the house in SF ends up being reasonable for a long time, this mgmt company here ended up being nuts. First time I'v rented from a mgmt company and will not do that again

Annie, I am reading another NYC-based book: The Gods of Gotham. 1845 NYC, NYPD is formed.
there are 3 pr7's in a row, can I get a clue for one of them?
I have a pr 7/52 .... houses that come put together ..... it is a plural of the pr 6/36
one i suppose is a plural of the 6 before it to make most of a house before it goes on the lot
Scrabbs, Right now I am reading The Stand by Stephen King, 1135 pages. I will be reading this book forever.
I'm not looking at the list, but one of them is the pr* (meaning before) + what is on your head.
old style of housing
My youngest sister reads all of King's books.
that sounds interesting scrabs

morning Brookie
Free Clue!
Morning, mom, and thanks for the clue, Scrabbler!

Yep, I found it. I am just getting to know the grid.
Other pr 7 is something you have before you get your hair cut
i have been enjoying the season joans. . . have fun at the game. . .
i am going to be away for our next home stand :-(

and really good to see you joansie. . . come again. . . especially in the playoffs!
bye all *poof*
Enjoyed the chat...back to lurking after breaky...bye all
bye joansie :(
I am flipping between US and Canadian TV Olympic coverage. The Canadian station always outperforms the US--more live events, less hype/drama/BS
*Wonders which national park has a community garden*
bye joansies
tadone, finito, off to work. hagd everyone
amen, Scrabbler. hopefully less commercials too
congrats dawger

Ok, I have returned. I do need to renew passport.
And wow, I am all alone!
Nope, I am here and I have fireworks
I was concentrating on the grid

It's a pretty logical grid
red, are you planning a trip where a passport is needed
I am enjoying it better than yesterdays.
well done Annie!!
I am not, but I let my passport expire...and I feel so funny knowing I can't even gp to canada!
Time to renew, I agree
anyone like a clue before I head out?

tc suze:)
howdy trif..send us rain please!
will try, but we need ours too!
and yes,my fave size grid tween 200-300
was getting tired of those small evil grids
i agree, crossy, though I have never really thought of it.....you are completely right
anything more that that and it turns into an endurance race of adding every ending you can think of to a word
speaking of rain - watching the olympic womens bicycle race in absolutely pounding rain. poor ladies!
i bet they prefer it to searing heat
i suppose, but it is lashing into their eyes - that can't be good
no,a good manager would of had goggles for them
yes, of course, but trust me, they look MISERABLE
I think they would prefer the heat, those wet roads are sooo dangerous.
i have been perusing the highlights on cnn.com but we really do not turn the tv on much here anymore
a canadian just ate it, crossy....
ouch
... they've trained in it
as red said, her tires lost their gription and down she went
I have to admit, I am a little bit..interested in the Olympic events.
mm,yes,i see your point
we do not want any injuries
The wet is very dangerous, for cyclists, I bet the runners will love it, if it still is raining.
ther marathon runners, that is, not the sprinters.
remember that poor guy on the luge last winter olymics..horrifying
sprite and I decided the other day that we would absolutely get the gold medal in "women's snarky comments"
yes,the runners will indeed
I would also medal in "over analyzing" and "worrying over stuff that will never happen"
This weekend I am getting a medal in Napping.
lol,go for it ladies i will keep track and award points
I might do okay in "sitting on fat ass reading" but I know I would have a LOT of competition. I have training in procrastination and loafing also
my mrs(her indian name is shops with a fist) gets a gold in emptying my wallet:)
"shops with a fist" full of cash, I assume....
she is the olny person who can go in for one item and spend over 100 dollars but she can also have a full weekly list and spend less that she did on the one item outing the day before...crossy is puzzled
humpf. if you can rip something, why can't you rerip it?
hello everybody {{crossy}} {{trif}} and {{red}} if you get the gold in napping, I get the silver!
phantom: essence
morning ruby!
she says shopping with me is like trying to hunt deer with the game warden hanging over your shoulder.i said "well i do not see the need to bag your limit every time"

what about gold in computer gaming? that would be me
singing like a nine year old: I found a nine! I found a niiiiiine
go shirloc go!
they predicted cool and rainy today NOT! But I just took mr. crazy (no, not DH) for his walk. He is a wild man
go shilock!
ohh no shirlock,i was gaming back before com 64 on the xerox company mainframe in toronto in the early 70,s..my dads boos would of had a fit to see this kid playing tic-tac-toe in a 50,000 dollar main frame
which one trif? -- have the in and looking for the other

The other one is pr 9 60
what a great memory of you and your dad, though, crossy!
it is,he was with xerox when they made their first copier..
pr9, you say? you're kidding, right?
nope, not kiding
kidding even!!!
pr9= the art of putting too much flowery B.S into your story
ty crossy - not sure it is a real word, however!
lol,as long as it get you the 9:)
aah, got it but I don't think it's a word... :(
true -- didn't have the monster either
ty crossy, got it!
think of it as tolstoy taking 74 pages to describe a dress in was and peace
i'm with crossy, too verbose = pr9
monster?
clue for the pe9 please
there is no pe9 and i just clued the pr9
the other 9 is in9/54
ty
off to the list -- kids will be up soon
olympics --> 3.5 hours on a bike, i don't think i've ever been on a bike that long, never mind as fast as they're going
no kidding, huh? to ride that far and lose to a sprinter. fe
feh
... did it a couple of times .... it hurts ... the last thing you want to do after is walk ...
when are the mens' cycling races? and is it true that Vinokurov won something?
... road race was yesterday
a day late and many dollars short!
need food....won't be as good as one of crosshairs brekkies....
who won?
first ce 5, please?
I;ve never cycled that long, but sadly I have run that long...
sadly, I think that's wonderful. My longest was one hour, 10 mins
meant "sadly?" I think it's great that you could run that long, red
My butt is sore today as I got the bright idea to do my long run on hills....
netherlands, brit, russian
(eats shoots and leaves)
yeah, that's awesome red
I found the road race interesting, as there were so many leaders at so many different points.
I guess. I think it also means I am a little boring. Every week the office girls ask what I did on the weekend...its always the same answert..
there's nothing boring about running!
I'll bet you look a lot better than they do!
there is when you use a treadmill...but even that is not so bad..
... as long as you do ... and enjoy doing it ... and especially if you do it well ... .. who cares what they think?
my husband took a header off his treadmill this week, I think it's safer in the street!
Oh I dont care, I kind of feel funny though trying to explain it to them. Better than the movies..
Oooh RUby, I have a video for you!
cam you send a link to my e-mail?
and I can send a photo of Wonder Dog
still looking for that first ce 5 -- any help out there?
I ony have 2 ce5/12's (not those?)
I still have to download wonder dog since he got his haircut.
I almost fell off the TM this week too ruby, trying to rest during speed work. Found it easier to just walk rather than hop on and off the edge of the mill.
the first one, ruby - there are only 2
he evidently missed the "deadman's switch" -- says there isn't one -- or else it was a power surge?
he's lucky he's not a deadman!
i'll prolly have a fall off treadmill accident soon, i'm such a klutz
I'd be afraid to get on it
mmmmm..fresh tea..hot and sweet like crossy:))..slurrrrp
or is not those a clue for the ce 5/12?
be careful, shirl!
http://tinyurl.com/cxut9yx here is a link to a blog post, but it is for the video....
ce5/12 is what they do in church to make it smell good
Treadmills are not for hte faint of heart!
ty ruby - haven't seen that without the in before
I was afraid I was giving you one you already had.....
i don't run fast so it's a slow run but faster than a walk then i lower the speed so the timing and controls is tricky
ty ruby
DH says it just kept speeding up until it threw him off

Jilly, the Celtic fest sounds like lots of fun.

Mellowed somewhat with age..he doesn't know, but I am throwing him a surprise 30th BD party before he leaves...teehee...
The party sounds like fun too. I wanted to do that for my middle son, who recently turned 30, but he and his wife went to Cancun instead.
And they didn't take you!!??
I know, I know.
Well, mine is still in college (late start after military), divorced, working in Yellowstone for the summer. Birthday isn't til September, but a few friends around and such, so it'll be fun. Especially since he is rubbing it in about me being old having a 30 year old son..payback!
well, must be satisfied with 1/3 done...bbl *poof*
hi, all. clues for the 9s?

PR 9/60 - wierd word
PR clued earlier as "not amateurs + i opened my own bus*****
my son when he was little used to love putting things into other things, i once found my keys in the vcr and coins in the tape player
hey all
my son (now grown) used to like to carry my keys around and put them in things - would have to find them at night before he would go to sleep - his son now likes to carry my cell phone but at least i can call it to find it
and he doensnt stick in something else
hey stid
off to go be with the grandkinds for the afternoon - will guard my phone - BBL
I once found one of tom's slippers, a fork and a spoon in the outer part of the firebox for the oil stove... the slipper was quite crispy by the time I found it! We have a long talk with both boys about where it is appropriate to put things
later teach
just do not seen the pr9

hey angelsong
more of a poem angel
hey stid
think about the opposite of poetry: pr**e -- if there is a lot of it (like the books by Joyce) it is pr** + personal pronoun + loch **** monster
*drops lurker shield*
hey ruru
*waves to stid*
thanks, Stid. that gave me the pr9 and another word.
go anglesong go!
just found an elementary teacher's favorite subject for halfway!
down to 96. This grid is sometimes hard, sometimes it is easy
sounds like life stid?
Hi, just starting. Talked to my sister who called. All is well down south.
Lurker shield, is that like a Babble condom?
hmmm mebbe
I was thinking more like star trek.. but its best to let your imagination run wild. LOL
the grid has just gotten tougher for me
that p is making me crazy
Onyx at insane asylum: " that P.. got me here"
And the aranoia that came after it.
funny.
but i only have a few of them left now
I have 6 p's to go.. wonder which one will push me over the edge
it was the 7& 8 combo of a fake word that had me
Those fake combos will get you every time.
got them all
if you are "profat" does that mean you like ice cream?
I don't know but I have definitely refatted before.

I have the mi8 that is like the church person
The other mi8 is the other woman
ty Molls
monkeyed one of the pr8!
for and not yours
help with the last pr8 pls
well, once again enable doesn't understand life. The first 50 years or so of my life were prefat
Which one do you have Peri?
hi doren
pr8...not against + where coal workers work
hi ru I have a date tonite, someone from my high school, a year older ... we'll see if he knows which wine to order, right?
oh nice
ty molly, good clue and right on time
Woo hoo! Dorens has a date!
why don't you order the wine.. or is that some sort of initiation rite of passage?
that is the one I have Molls
pr8...before short hair cut, plural
wish I had a date
we'll see... if he is smart and doesn't know much about it, he will defer to me. If he is a fool, then he will order badly (but this place has nice wines... even a decent $25 and under list) I don't really even know all that much, I just know what i like
Don't ask me how that is done.
thanks Molls, dumb word
<--Has no desire to ever date again
I hope you have fun.. that sounds great doren
peri, if you want a date.... get out there and make yourself known. join eharmony or match or some such. you might not find prince charming, but you can find at least one date
did not have any luck with match, thinking of trying eharmony
yes it does... we'll see. have enjoyed him on the phone but i know he really isn't "my type"... we'll see
Type - smype
bbl
it's always worth a try
he's more "jewish" than I... but can find out more in person
mrs ru tried to get rid of me for years
i will at least have a nice dinner at a place I've missed lately. male company is good for me... even tho i don't seem to be able to stand any one person for long term
(don't think she tried very hard, did she?)
she did.. she kept pawning me off on her friends trying to dump me...:)
lol, ru
I, however, am a terrific salesperson.. and won out in the end
Too bad I'm not allowed to make a "dropped her nail file" comment.
well, i have only five minutes left here, then please kick me out. I need to straighten up in case he comes back here after dinner. I have a lightbulb in the bedroom that needs changing and i can't do it myself... (HONEST) I don't really want him in my bedroom at all. + the bedroom is a mess of piles of books, magazines, bills, cataloges, clothes and not at all neat. so this is my motivation to straighten up
you will never forget that joke, will you molls? (me neither... )
oh.. how many therapists does it take to replace a lightbulb?
Ha! What a line. "Can you help me change a light bulb in my bedroom?" Eyelash bat, eyelash bat.
please tell me, and if you remember the one about the kids with ADHD I've been trying to remember that one for years now
4 ... one to do it and three to discuss its ramifications
ok, so i will continue to have a dimly lit bedroom, and try to ask the cleaning lady to help me when she comes, I really cannot do it myself
really?
ok that is good.. the ADHD kids one was better (but of course i don't remember the answer!!!)]
I'm the chief lightbulb changer around these parts
it is a three bulb one, and taking down the cover from the ceiling is very tricky. i am sure i'll screw it up, it is far easier to open one or two of the clips and hold it while changing the bulbs..
The punch line to that joke is...lets ride bikes.
of course you are ru, that is one of the things men are good for.
that would be a good one molly, but there was one that was really hilarious, and i can't remember ..
I don't know the ADHD jokes
Did I just ask about them?
i don't know, did you? (presinility joke here)
sEnility
mmmmm - the peaches are ripe!
early dinner? or late one?
early -- 5:00
whoa
that is early
i've been feasting on peaches daily... juicy, the kind that you need to eat over the sink
does he have to watch 60 minutes or something
i called it.... at first it was going to be lunch, but since he told me to pick the place, i picked one that no longer has sunday brunch.. it opens at 4 -- i figured it would be ok
These are quite juicy and nice, from my own tree
and good luck on your date, dorens!
so i asked him if dinner would be okay, after all it is a first date and i prefer coffee rather than a meal, but since we know lots of folks in common (the wrong ones, unfortunately), and enjoyed a few phone conversations, i figure i can handle him for more than an hour. hope i'm right. thanks sue
*wonders if he'll be able to screw in a lightbulb*
i'm not sure i will ask him at this point!
lol.. probably best not too
ok ru, come one over and help me out then.
Can't you just imagine the SCORE look on his face? Invited into the bedroom on a first date.
haha, we've spoken enough that i think he would know that i mean it's a light bulb and nothing more. Plus, i am known for being kind of blunt... i didn't think it would be a problem, but i'm glad we discussed it here so I know not to do it,
good plan
thanks ru. some day maybe i will tell him about it for a good laugh
meanwhile, i'll suffer in darkness
ROFL
*wipes coffee off computer screen*
all right, so i used to be NONFAT and now i'm MOREFAT and neither of these words are acceptable.
ru, if you're on when i come back tonite i'll fill you in on the grim details
what about prefat
it will take nonfat, it's just not in the grid
<--Was going to offer to send Dorens a lamp, but the suffer in darkness line was too good.
no not NONfat.. i mean PREFAT
oh okay.. But I do hope you have fun.
remember, I am jewish... even if i don't feel or act like it
true about the prefat though (a condition I was in only to about age 38 when I got pregnant for the first time)
thanks ru. i will have fun, no question about it. i am in such an UP mood. good harbinger
oh i was prefat till post menopause (don't count pregnant as fat)
good for you, dorens!
pregnant isn't fat
pregnant is fat if you gain 80 pounds and never lose it
What is it with menopause? We get rid of one problem and gain (excuse the pun) another one.
I don't think I could survive another round of menopause over here
that's the post pregnant fat then, sue. i gained 50. but lost it (and believe it or not, i had wanted to keep ten or so... i was underweight until my thirties)
I felt like I had a starring role in the exorcist
i didn't have much trouble with it... it is the POST menopause weight gain that bothers me, and that is NOT temporary
well, whatever you want to call it, it's been with me since about age 38, and it has overstayed its welcome.
i haven't found one word in ten minutes
but meanwhile I found a 9 all by myself and have nbs.
did Mrs RU have lots of PMS too? my theory is that they go together... i didn't pms and didn't have a lot of trouble with menopause (a few hotflashes, not a lot, and no huge mood swings)
same here, dorens
yes
ok... some hormonal thing. my sister got all those hormones in our family and i got none. but i did manage to reproduce (and she didn't)
crossy is back..hot and clod enough for you kadies..hehe
instep ires
ladeis*
nice, crossy, I like my clods hot :-)
and hi arb!
Sorrry. Cursor jumped to the wrong place.
ok. down to 70 -- time to straighten up (guess I can just throw more junk into the bedroom) bye all
that's ok, I was missing the i word
bye, dorens!
hope to hear about this later doren.. good luck
my mrs had a full radical hysterectomy 5 years ago and it was tough.they put her on all kinds of hormone pills, that they found out the pills were more dangerous thatn leaving her alone
ah - when I had the same surgery they put me on nothing due to a family history of breast and ovarian cancer
however I will not go into further details as I must go get some work done (will spend all next week visiting with our ill friend, so today is the day to edit files)
back again, being totally nonproductive...*sigh*
see you all later...
hi and bye, jilly!

doing good stid...how are you?
ty for pr 9 clue. got it.
I am well. Just came in from spending two hours weeding one garden bed. It hasn't been done in about five years and goes slowly.
AND it looks like we might get actual sunshine before the sun goes down today!
come and do my weeding if you like it so much
LOL I don't -- and needed Tom to help me get back into the house when I was done, but it needs doing.
who said stid likes eweding? she said she did it but not tht she liked it.
actually, it is quite meditative usually, but with my hip I can't do it unless some is home to help me up when I am done.
she must like it if she did it every 5 years...i only do mine every 10 years
even then I hire it done
i understand stid
Be7?
plural the word that means person who hits
Oh wait I have that
i use a garden bench and my cane... walter was horrified the first time he saw me flat on the ground so that i could weed , but it was the only position i could get into and do it.. a few neighbors even stopped to see if i was ok, but now thery are all used to it-lol.......... i WILL NOT give up or give in
LOL bleu -- anything else then?
I am down to 73
:-) I have a little weeding bench/stool Mother gave me that if I turn it upside down for kneeling the legs become a handle I can use to get up with. But I overdid today and needed extra help. I forgot to bring my cane with me. *sigh*
yup
But at least we have strategies, right? :-)
know how that is- have actually rolled over and over on the lawn to get to the front stone steps to get up-lol.......... older lady ( also moves with difficulty) watched me from across the street and applauded and said she might try that-lol

lol jilly we have been tag teaming grids for 2 days
so today you know why not. I never get to finish on work days!
what channel are you watching red?
i just learned that the USA won a gold medal in Skeet shooting. I feel a little sad that the woman who won was not celebrated more. She is...of course, not young or photogenic.
NBC sports.
kind of nice having a partner to help drag each other to the finish some days:)
So in in Olympic spirit..is there a medal to be won? ;)
canada also got a gold:)) in swimming i think
ok
Go crossy go.
Canada did, I htink in the Breastroke, or was it Aus?
was womens div i think
i took a lot of nap today. I am getting very ancient, and need lots of naps. I think it is the heat, so I missed some events.
lol red,i am a young 49 and holding and the best sleep i get in a 24 hour period is the hour and a half afternoon power nap
I hope it is the heat, because I ran today and then felt like all I could do was sleep...
lol@ running.these days i enter the "zone" if i comb my hair too fast lol
3 more strokes..feel the burn!
my grid is out of words!!!!
i also am at temporary stall with 52 to go
cross, you have a more positive spin on it...Temporary stall.
must always find the bright side
Here to clue...if wanted...

pr5/12 pls

pr 5/12 thinking of a post
or if it is the earlier pr 5/12, think of a similiarword
skeet shooting is apparently an olympic sport.
who determines what is an olympic sport?
pr 9/60 think of the nose, with a u...
so i am told
found it! I had the ro8, so really annoyed it took that long to find the pr9
I assume, but I do not know, that it would be the IOC, the international olympic committee?
now if we had a live moving target ,grated,it would be more thrilling:)
granted
I will save face by not mentioning that I got stuck on st6/18....
nrkii, can you clue??
red, ho-hum quality
thats what i have always said about those ironman things.you want thrilling??? put the swim LAST:)
ro8 is quality of being pink
I would agree on that Cross!!!
and add sharks?
throw a P on the beginning for pr9
well, they have alligators in Florida..
and I guess some of the ocean swims already have sharks!
nope, nice easy bike ride first, then limber up those muscles with a 26 mile run and finish with a leasurly 7 mile swim:))
Well, have a paper to write...any last clues needed before I buckle back down?
or just run throu Death Valley and ignore the swim
did anyone see that 50 something father doing the ironman carrying his disable child all the way?? my god!
no crossy
he towed him in a raft for the swin, had a special 2 person bike and had a cart for the run
they do have the Ultra Marathon there in Death Valley, Bad Water.
thats a special Dad.
and he finished
things like that make me cry, crossy
good for him

nirkki, the ro7 rhymes with an edible mollusk
sorry vid quality is not best, but you can find others from that
yes, peri!

yvw
"Edible mollusk" sounds so much nicer than they taste. : )
they taste good fried, but most anything tastes good fried
they taste good!

yaaa for nrkii!
see you peri!
38 to go red:)
i may have lost her to the olympics..:(
go Crossy!
I may have lost her with my pr9 clue :)
ahh the pr 9 is easy= overdoing your writing with too much flowery B.S :))
eg: tolstoy taking 74 pages to describe a dress
oh, I went the ho-hum route
okay, I'm off to watch a movie
have a great evening everyone!
tc nrkii
I am back.
wb
still not able to find that stupid Pr9.
clued below by me just now
do you have the ro8?
Yes I know its prosaic writing, but...
if so,dump a p in front of it
I dont have either one.
ok,lets start with ro9..if a flower my wife loves has a vague pinkish hue it would have ro8
ahh I found it! I got them!
yaaa
44 left.
i am at 36 red
May need to hit up the list.
Womens gymnastics tonight. the men were really great.
remember nadia cominici(sp)?
Barely. but yes.
i watched that year just spellbound
Ok, I admit it...I just LOVE that opening shot of the white cliffs of Dover.
I don't think I was quite old enough.
She is an astounding person..
Oooh good stuff tonight, I'm going to have to stay up!
i watch very little t.v last year or 2.there are just way too many good books waiting for me to pick up
I admit, I am very excited about the Olympics. I'm also reading though. need to hit the library tomorrow.
i have been watching WAY too much Olympics but I always do. I like watching excelence
Its so great bugs! I learnso many things.
I have always been a good spectator. I love to cheer them on to bigger and better things
though the mrs and i have made plans to see the new movie with tommy lee jones at the cinema.it is called "hope springs"
oooh date nite!
LOL crossy. Which one of you suggested you go see that one?
something to make her happy, she will tear through a box of kleenex and be at peace
i toss her a chick flick now and then
OK. I thought if I suggested it, he wud think I was complaining
it does look funny tho
fair is fair, she watches my "guy movies"\
watched a dirk pitt movie called sahara, based on clive cussler novel.now if you know him, anything that is not heaving bosoms and explosions is tossed merrily on the cutting room floor lol
don't know that one
i did not think you would;))
he writes books where lead character "dirk pitt" save old wrecks, finds sunken treasure, and foils villian out to poisdon the world and in the process ends up with some female secretary or state or v.p in his lap:)
poison
sounds corny
good rip roaring manly, man, testoserone charged stuff;)
inagine the total reverse of daniele steele and you have it
Oh My.
I'm not a Danielle Steele fan at all.
but anyways my beloved wishes to see hope springs, and she will cry,and i will buy her a popcorn and she can lean on my shoulder and i will smile and all will be well
daniele steele= stephen king with estrogen:)
daniele steele= stephen king with estrogen:)
you are a good man crossy. shud be more like you
opps hiccups
lol bugsaw
i have taken her to see several richard gere movies,so the next one is mine
what is it with richard gere anyways lol
ugh
RIchard Gere can't act his way out of a box
well, what can i tell you ru,the ladies seem to like him
shall we dance,my best friends wedding, that one with the spelling bee, they go on and on and on
sure.. he's handsome.. but can't act to save his life
my husband is quite deaf so he just watches and makes up his own story line. He finds it entertaining but I like movies with a storyline and good characters so when he starts talking about the movie he thinks he is watching, I can't hear what is going on. We each have a TV that we are in charge of which solves it.
I would like to see "The world of Timothy green or something like that.
i liked the japanese film about dancing better
Wow Bugs, your HUbby is created.
hi jmc
creative.
I Saw Mao's Last Dancer a few years back, it was magical.
like frankenstein Red?
or too lazy to put his ears in
creative I am a typo genius.
just happen to be walking by. Gere was good in shall we dance, although the Japanese version was better.
my granpa was like that, says it turned my grannys nattering into a nice background drone
and hello jmc and mab!
hi.
i am not much of a gere fan. . . now george clooney. . . . .
well,we will watch hope springs and i am sure i will be asked many loaded questions after,so i best study for that test;)
i used to feel richard gere was a limited actor, but i think he has improved. and that scene with him and jennifer lopez alone, dancing? oh my goodness.
i actually want to see hope springs since i like both streep and jones
it was hot indeed, too bad she is such a biatch in real life
i like george clooney too. i never see movies, so i don't really know what i'm talking about.
comes out on the 8th jmc
i'll wait for netflix
she is?
she seems fairly normal to me
go rent o brother where art thou. . . great movie and clooney is a hoot
our netflix is still throttled by our CRTC,so i cannot wait for that,i would perish first
i like the politics of both actors.
i saw that. yes, agree.
I rarely go to the movies, but every time I do it is enjoyable.
and the other cohen brother film, burn before reading
anyways,i must go make some egg salad and i will be back for these last 36 words..i hope..poink
i think gere's best film was chicago
I love the Coen Brothers
genuises
i didn't like fargo
me too. agree.
you know what I mean..:D
yes ru we know
what?
geniuses
Fargo was fabulous
liked fargo
Blood Simple was incredible too
too gruesome
they are from minnesota and so know the midwest.
boooo
what boo?
it's a funny kind of gruesome
???
boo that it's gruesome
fine it was still too gruesome for me
..(mutters) .... weenie
they put a body in a wood chipper, but we don't see that do we?
yep...completely
help with the first in 5?
it was just a leg
my hubby covered my eyes when we watched silence of the lambs together
in 5 is a gas word
like nitrogen
i have a vivid imagination and have seen more than enough real life gore
never admit to being a weenie, jmc. it makes you look weak. )kiddig)
motionless mab
oh fish me. really. I missed that!
<:))3))))><
sorry i apparently meant red
salmon?
I am with you jmc. I can read gruesome stuff but can't see it without after effects
Sturgeon
how much time did it take you to learn to make a punctuation mark fish, ru?
i have trouble reading it but in a book it is easy to skim over
that is probably what i do too
thanks...for the fish and the clue. I have 25 left. How is my rial Cross doing?
oh a little while.. i get lots of practice here
i don't usually see or read gruesome.
120 left
rial cross?
yeah, I thought so
rival. I cant type.
ah then the sentence makes sense haha
i agree, jmc, real life is gruesome enough
in 6, 21? I'm kind of well, using the list.
fine with me i will just follow you red
a feature on a shoe red
and fish me as well..
again.
I will be eating fish all week, good for me.
hmmm
be careful red. methyl mercury.
ah! ty
indeed.
that is only in sea food, no?
thermometers from back in the day too I guess.
yes. the big ones that have lived long enough to accumulate toxins.
can't find them. . . but i remember playing with the mercury when they broke
swordfish, tuna, are the highest in mercury
i have a little mercury related brain damage. long story.
i eat tuna, talapia, and salmon
Pesticides on produce, mercury in fish, steroids in poultry and beef, it's a wonder any of us are alive.
really? do tell mab
not to mention all those years without seat belts
tuna is terrible. the stuff in tins as well
my doctor said i had the highest level of methyl mercury he'd ever seen in a person still walking around.
no helmets riding bicycles; running loose in the neighborhood
wow!
wow.. how did that happen mab?
fish
every day. fish
wow
I believe in guardian angels simply due to the fact that I ventured way far from home as a young child, completely unsupervised.
for years
wow
I don't eat fish that often
I couldn't eat fish every day.
i never liked fish. . . so i force myself to eat it once a week
forced to leave grad school because, unbeknownst to me, I was wacky.
how old were you molly?
I do eat Salmon, it is trying to heal my cholesterol. I love fish, but not tuna. I am working on learning to eat chicken. It is yukky.
Six and up.
maybe that's why I didn't go to grad school?
no doubt ru
wow.. a wanderer
<==in grad school
if you don't like fish, jmc, take fish oil pills.
i need to go to grad school...
or suck on a thermometer for all it's worth jmc
no i eat it to avoid eating too much meat
haha they have alcohol in them now ru
it rather turned my whole life upside down.
i bet Mab
US just won silver in Sync diving, and the Canadians took the bronse!!!!
i bet
I can imagine it was awful Mab!
how long ago was this mab?
who took the gold?
can people tell the temperature by touching you mab?
*smacks ru on the nose*
*ouch*
that's the sad part. I have no super powers.
damn
darn mab you'd think you'd at least get superpowers
not fa** at all.
*Thinks Mab is holding out on us*
or you could find mercury dimes or something
lifes unfa**
and i'm jewish. like superman, spiderman, and all those mans.
superman is jewish?
they're jewish???
scrunch the words together super and man. he's jewish.
*waiting for the other shoe to drop*
like goldman or akerman, etc.
he came from Krypton.. not Long Island
haha!
terry gross pointed out the jewish thing on fresh air.
its a town on longuyland
Oy.. Lex Luther.. you are going to get it now...
<---Unable to make Jewish jokes, as instructed by Dorens
"superman that building is burning".. superman: not now I"m setting chiva
*waits for ru to run out*
so Krypton is Plum Island???
shiva. and you don't do that until after someone's dead.
lots of dead people around superman
but your way, ru, would save time.
I wonder if Lois Lane would drop her nail file?
i thought you meant shabbat
in the old superman tv show, bullets bounce off superman's chest, but then someone throws a gun at him and he ducks.
Chiva is a little ceramic rabbi head that grows plant peyos.
I remember that
that's a chiva pet molly
that's a ch-ch-ch-chia
chia rabbi!:)) cool
may I have clue for re 6, 21 the very first one? 10 left. How are you hanging crossing?
hey all
hi stid
hi, stid.
we're discussing jewish super-heroes
hi stid
so I see...
I am down to 27, have been listing since 66.
ru, you could spread that chia gooop on your head and then just water.
how many you have left red?
Break time at school, red
ty torg and hi
the 'hair' would be green at first, but when it dies, you'd be blond.
too many golfers in the neighborhood mab
ooh.
dangerous.
Chiva goop
the tees are the worst part
and divots
fish me, I have 9 left now thanks to that clue.
I have also gone nuts, I am setting up my air bed, so I can watch ALL the olympic coverage, but fall asleep if I have to...
uh don't you have to work tomorrow?
I do. at 8 am. If I dont do any running in the am....
<---hasn't watched any Olympic coverage
ruru there is so much to see!

<---Hasn't watched any either
me three
i can see it in 4 years
or four
you are an athlete red..it's different for you
Sounds like Red is watching enough for all of us.
i'd like to see the dressage and the gymnasts
Tom took the next two weeks off... he wanted to watch as much coverage as possible. I, of course, have plans for washing the outside of the house, building a gate for the garden and "little things" like getting the major areas of the house mucked out.
wow.
mucked?
rucked?
one mucks out a horse stall.
Two weeks vacation to watch the Olympics? Yeah wow.
yes mucked. I have been doing it all summer
7 left

Nah, I mean there are just so many interesting stories and things that come out.

the rest of us.. just had to hold our breaths
thanks peach and mab and ruru and red and all!! :-)
ahhhh. the dog has already overtaken the mattress...he loves it. he thinks rightly that it is a big doggie bed.
gppd thing he's not a cat.
happy dog!
I guess, I think my next dog will be a cat. Teulu is such a lunk...hunk o lunk.
My dog is upset with me, because for over an hour I had him locked in the house so I could do more yard work without him bumping into me. I am sad I missed the big canoe welcome in Olympia, but glad I got so much work done in the yard. I hope there will be some pictures and videos posted somewhere soon.
SE 6, 18?
Glad you go work done Stid. tell more about the canoes please?

Hi jes and Minver!
Go redturtlehead go!
I de4/6d starting grid because I knew I wouldn't finish. I quit af 5/16 finding 176 words. Here is a story fr4/8 me to you. Sometimes driving to work st6/18es me out. I'm fa4/8d with rush hour traffic everyday. Now matter how I try to be4/6 rush hour traffic,I always get stuck in it. A day doesn't pass where I don't be 4/7 horn at somebody else. Since this is the chat log, I will ce6/21 some of the expletives I use when cursing out other drivers. It is just not fa4/7 the way others think they can drive recklessly with no regard to other drivers. It also ir4/4 me when se 6/18 citizens think they can drive slowly in the fast lane It is also rude when cops put on their si6/18 just so they can get through the traffic. By the time I get to work, I feel drained and defe4/7ed from the drive. I feel like I need to drink a be 4/6. Instead, I drink my coffee I buy at a ca 4/8 every day on the way to work. I do admi4/5 other people who can drive pe5/14fully without getting str5/10ed. I wish I could do that. I must confe4/77 that my commute is not really that bad.I embellished a little for story purposes. My hubby of mi4/5 wants the laptop. I fr4/7 what he will do if I don't give him the computer. I am going to go sit on the so 4/7 and watch the Emilio Estevez film Fr4/7jack. I hope you have se 4/4 mo 4/5 words with this story. I'll re 6/30 the chat log befo4/7 I retire for the re 4/4 of the night. Bye for now babblers!

Hello carolmaya! How are you doing? Welcome to the chog
Hi there, Min. I'm ok....just wish I could get the gapeach back.
Hi Peach (am I blowing your cover calling you that?)
we know already
i didn't. hi peach.
Ah thanks Peach. You still haven't heard back from Dr. God?
Oh, I did not know that you are gapeach. What happened?
No, hon. I guess I'm just used to seeing the peach picture....oh well.
So you are NOT gapeach1066? Okay, now I am confuzzled!
he'll surely get back to you this week if he's not on vacation or something.
Peach, maybe you are using a different email address to log in?
Min, my computer has been hacked over and over again. I think I know who's doing it but I can't prove it....I bought a new one thinking that would help. No, I had to pay$240.00 to a company (for one year) to keep it safe....we'll see. They erased my entire email list......I'm starting over.
That's awful Peach.
how awful. and mysterious
gapeach ,it often originates from email contacts/lists
I am so sorry to hear that carolamaya!I cannot believe that buying a new computer didn't help! I hope you get it fixed!
Yes, I heard from him and he told me to log out and then log back in and it would show the gapeach....I guess I'm doing it incorrectly.....maybe I'll try to contact him this week.
I hope you get it straightened out Peach. And shame on anyone who would cause you that much trouble.
i quite agree.
Thanks Molly. I am so grateful to have you all to talk to.
we know you will sort it all out gapeach:)
What kind of sicko gets their jollies repeatedly hacking someone's computer?
back -- sorry I disappeared... there is a website for the canoe journey http://paddletosquaxin2012.org/
oh good. i want to see that.
Hello stidmama! How are you doing? Welcome back to grid
hello Min!
Molly, it's probably the same one who abuses elderly people, emotionally and physically.
I'm sorry Peach. I had no idea that was still a problem.
Thanks, hon.
peach, do you keep a backup of your data on a flash drive or something just in case this sort of thing happens again?
No, hon, I don't know how to do that. I am ashamed that I don't get around to taking a class or something to learn more about computers.
I just spent HOURS making a PowerPoint presentation. It is something I've never done before, so I had to teach myself
Are you done Min? Good for you.
Yes, finally. I wanted to be able to add background sound, but couldn't figure it out & don't have time to figure it out.
I worked on it all weekend (with Babble breaks of course).
pr9/60 please?
Good job Min. You should be proud of yourself.
stid - the boats are amazing and the setting so beautiful. the canoes sit so low in the water and yet are so stable in the rough water. interesting.
pr 9/60:pr 4/5 word + my parents own a furniture bu******.
Great clue, Min!
ah, thank you
Thanks MollyL. Can't be proud until I know if it is a success tomorrow. I hope that there are no technical difficulties.
yw jesdraggon
Thanks carolamaya!
mab, yes. These are the ocean-going canoes. They are called ʔəʔutx̌s and are made of a single cedar tree. They are HUGE.
i saw one being carried by lots of people - it looked heavy. that's just amazing, from a single tree.
mi8-45 the2nd please.....thanks
MI8= like a reverend but less vowels
hello all

Hello torgone! How are you doing? Welcome to the puzzle.
Heya Min

Molly killed the cha-at .. Molly killed the cha-at ..
<--Chat killer. Stone me now.
At least I didn't bore it to death.
I can't cast the first stone .. I've done both ..
Well, I have never found you boring Tor. Just for the record. : D
Thank you, my dear .. :^D
May I please have a clue for so6-18? Thanks
A party, usually in the evening ..
so 6/18 is an evening party or social gathering, especially one held for a particular purpose carolamaya.
Thanks a bunch, tor and Min.
yw
Does anyone actually invite people over for a so6?
I just had one last night!
Oh good for you Min. I bet you looked ravishing in your gown. : )
No...just kidding!
And Min is in the grid today. Let's all have ice cream!
Was way too busy working on the PowerPoint and babbling
back
Front
Which version of power point are you working on minv?
93 left and i don't care; 93 left and i don't care; 93 left and i don't care my masters gone away
I can clue if needed.
i read about that min--well done.. . it is harder than it looks
i suppose i could list
ooooooh, yeah! mo5-12 the 2nd please.....thanks
Does make it easier after all jmc!
oh look there are ae words!
I don't know what version it is.I never used a PP until now.
mo5/12= not dry
the fun part is the transitions
Thanks so very much, Jillyjill.
yw carolamaya!
I have to say I did not have any fun doing this. Hope I don't ever have to do another PowerPoint presentation again!
i have had some fun with power points but then mine are mainly pictures and not lists that i read
I don't blame you Min. I find Power Point very tedious. To work with, and to watch.
I do PP presentations every week during the school year.
everyone laughs all the way through my powerpoints
Do you do the PowerPoints for the students or staff Jillyjill?
I have learned to jazz mine up. Teenagers are brutal!
I've heard some great jokes about meetings with power point presentations. Most of them having to do with napping.
That means U must have extremly interesting PP jmcnrick.
PP can be fun - even if i didn't show them during a presentation i would use the printed handouts - also enjoyed teaching kids how to use them in creating "choose your own adventure" kinds of stories
'evening folks!
the way to do a power point is using it to illustrate your talk. . . not substitute for it
Hi there, welki.
Were you looking to add sound to a specific slide or throughout presentation?
Hello welki! How are you doing today? Welcome to the log
welki! bubabla!
hi there welki
So true jmc
That is an excellent point, JMC. I wish more people would do that. Still, I'm not big on visual aids or hand outs.
I wanted background music to play throughout slideshow.
Well, I deal with the generation of 2 minute sound bites...
well different people learn different ways and i use jokes sound bites and pictures to help people remember
being a visual learner - not an auditory learner - i remember best when visuals are provided - so i also teach that way
Sorry minv, I usually have mine just on one slide...but let me look...
That's good Jilly. It's also the generation of 2 minute attention spans.
fa6?
i adapt to the audience - for instance if i see that they're not looking at the pp, i go anecdota
and anecdotal, too
like a sprite
That is really the way to go Welki. I bet you get a lot of attention that way.
fa 6 x 2 - which one
I don't always have the ability to pick and choose since i often speak before fa**ly large groups
first one
My PowerPoint is to show the work the students did this summer. The intended audience will be administrators, Fordham University consultants who worked with us,the parents, students, and teachers. It's just a slideshow, not an oral presentation. I am so glad I do not have to talk.
I think a lot depends on whether your audience is voluntary or forced.
depends, molly - if it's training, i have certain things i have to cover - but always, always, i try to keep things light, even icky things - i think folks remember more if the speaker is able to connect through humor
oh cool min!
I will come to one of your presentations any day, Welki. : )
one time i spoke as part of a jazz performance and i skatted with my information. . .there were a lot of surprised people. . .
i'd bet that jmc and i have similar public speaking styles - if a classroom-type setting, i'd bet she round-tables, instead of standing and 'presenting'
Ella would be proud, JMC.
*puts on ella*
^5 molly
That fa 6/27 word sounds like what Tinker Bell is jmcnrick
no no i lean more in the direction of presenting. . .but i have activities too
actually it is what tinkerbell is
I was at a meeting last week where we had to get into groups, name our group and solve a problem that was on a hand out. I wanted to barf.
yeah i have limited patience for the group method. . . interestingly the international students don't like it either
Minv, for the future, it would be much easier to use a movie maker program, music easily is entered. In power point you will have to use custom animation.
As slideshow, how much time should I allow for each slide before it goes to the next slide? Any suggestions?
how long do you have, how many slides and how complicated is what the audience is looking at?
5 seconds should do it...
(mother forgive me for my dangling participle)
Shoot!I did 15 seconds. Some slides they have to read stuff
LOL...chat logs don't count jmc...
*Waits for Ru to make a comment about the dangling participle*
if they have to read then it should be longer. . . time yourself reading it
you don't know my mother. . .she had a masters in english
With reading it's a different story minv...watching the show yourself will tell...you can individually time each slide if you need to...time consuming..
but 15 seconds is pretty long
So did my mom jmc...
31 slides in all. Some slides are just pictures so 15 seconds seems long and other slides they have to read. Didn't know how to set the time for individual slides. Is that possible?
yes that is possible min
yes but must be done under custom animation...a little tedious with 31 slides, but do-able
your audience will thank you for making it individual
Well, it's almost 10:30 & don't feel like customizing timing
I'm sure you did a great job, Min. I hope it goes well tomorrow.
Just played around PP, you can cut and paste time in slot, really wouldn't take too much time..
well you can manually click the pictures forward so you sit there and read it then count to 4 for slow readers and click and for pictures wait 5 second and click
It'll be fine minv either way...
no need to redo
I just went to custom animation and all the boxes are gray
good advice jmc
just take a minute tonight to practice clicking and then go to bed and don't worry about it
hmm...then I would select the option like JMC mentioned and do it manually..
Just reading all this, I would want to run screaming into the night if I had to do a Power Point.
anyone have the first pr 5/12, please?
I am assuming this is a one time show and not something that is played continuously
Someone who snoops, Welki.
sorry welki
pr+making the m*** out of life
whoops, wrong one...mea culpa
Have it running as a loop since showcases will be set up like a science fa4/6.Everyone will be walking around fr 4/8 table to table. So some might not see the whole PP or some people may come in the middle of PowerPoint.
oh fer pete's sake - was looking in wrong direction .. thanks, molly
and jilly
Then manual clicking won't work... :(
oh well in that case don't worry about it
if you can easily shorten it to 10 seconds as a compromise do it and then forgidaboutit
Manual clicking, dangling participles...so many jokes to be made. : X
Welki, the one I struggled with was st6/18...so don't feel bad...
Thank you for your advice everybody. We can move onto a mo4/5 interesting topic. I don't want to hog the chog with such a boring and mundane topic.
well done molls! hahah
Besides minv, most of your audience will be impressed you even did the presentation
hey we are all here to help each other min
I don't think so. They do not know I had to teach myself to do PowerPoint or that it was my first PP I have ever done.
and they don't need to know either....lol
That's right Jillyjill!
if it is 31 slides they will be impressed no matter what
And when someone complains in my group I just say.."good point, I'm sure I can learn a lot when you volunteer to do the next one.."
All district cares about putting on a good show for big wigs
g'night, good people - long week ahead of me and things to do before it starts
haha jilly
niters welki..sweet dreams
bye welki
G'night Welki.
Goodbye welki! I will see you tomorrow in the chog maybe
then they will be fine with it min
Let us know how your presentation goes, Min.
Being 54 has given me the opportunity NOT to be put off by anyone!
just wait till you hit 62!!!
I will, thanks again! Wish you guys could see it and critique
Hello Dorens! How are you doing? Welcome to the chat log
i am doing well, thanks min. how are YOU doing?
i am sure it is great min!
hi dorens
tuesday i will be 61
hi je
Af5 you get to a certain age, your "who gives a shit" meter goes full throttle.
Me too minv, would love to see all your hard work...you did great. I think my first one took me about 30 hours with learning the program...
Well, congrats jmc
"letting it all hang out" at this point
I'm well Dorens. I'll be better once my summer job is done.
Oh so true molly
*Prepares massive birthday celebration for JMC*
happy birthday (in case i don't see you then)
Dorens made another comment I would love to see ruru deal with! :)
*tries to help dorens get it back in*
ach, just don't care at this point. let it hang (easy to say when you were "tiny" at an earlier age)
Ruru is hiding behind his magic, lurker sheild.
i should set up a microsoft page for babblers to share files. . .
I have been 61 only once.
when is the summer page done, min?
once is enough BR
Hello BabbleRabble! How are you doing? Welcome to chog.
Once is enough for any age...
and once is enough
good to see you so often again af*** so long away
My last day of summer school is on Tuesday thank goodness
70 left and i suspect that is enough
Hello, Min .. I am randomly ambivalent
well, i don't know, jilly. 40 was pretty cool for me, i wouldn't mind doing thatone again
better than constantly ambivalent
Do you get a break before school starts, Min?
yes i think except for hubby dying the 40s were the best
*looks in rear view mirror*.... mine actually might be in my mid 20's...newly married, having kids...life full of possibillity
For me, hell would be having to live my life over.
40s you are still strong and old enough to know what you are doing
ah, but if you lived it over, knowing what you do know..?
hmm sorry to hear that BR there are parts that would be hell. . .teen years come to mind
I am not sure I have learned anything
Doing it over...maybe only thing would be to slow down...
of course you have... you are a wise man at this point
maybe BR was always wise
I would rather change my future...and hubby's....
hate to admit it, but i think wisdom often does come with age and experience
hey.. doren.. how'd it go?
I have the first two weeks of August fr 4/7. Then I go back to work mid-August for some teacher workshops & to start planning the upcoming school year. But those are half days
i tend to agree dorens
That it does dorens
Well, I would enter the world with the same genetics and live the same childhood over
Hello rururocks! How are you doing today? Welcome to grid
my childhood was hell too. . . nothing worth enjoying until i was 18
hi min
<---left the friggin' lurker shield up too longh
JMC, we are of the same mind. following high school I left home and could be who I really was, not held by labels.
Boy did you ruru...
My childhood was great! It's my adult life that has not been so wonderful. However, I wouldn't do anything over again.
but the 12 years with my hubby and mo** of the time with my boy i hold dearly
that is what you get for lurking
:-P to ru
OKay, we can all agree on this...live in the moment!
hi ru... he told me to order the wine. very nice. i had fun, i ate well, i sparkled and laughed and all that
nice
ooo dorens had a date?
is he a nice guy?
do tell dorens!
*sits down with a glass of wine waiting*
clue for ae 5 plz.
I prefer figs to dates
very nice guy. maybe not exactly my type (and I might be far too opinionated to be his type) but we had fun. that's what counts
I just have one question doren
understandable babrab
ae5/10 word has to do with a bird's nest I think mkg and hi
ok. ??? (scared to ask)
you had a good time so. . .type smype
DId he change your lightbulb?
*Glad I waited around for that question*
*holds breath*
lightbulb?
*ducks*
I hope he did not think you were dim
Watt's so funny about that Molly?
hahaha! no... we stayed at the restaurant for far too long, and there was no question that he was NOT coming back to my house. but my house is in far better order than it would have been if I hadn't considered the possibility, and I'm glad for that
LOL
<==electrified
The socket remains unchanged.
hey doren and al
no babrab, but my bedroom is and i can't change the lightbulb myself without possibly breaking the light fixture, so there was discussion previously that i might have him change light bulb (he did work in construction many many years ago)
hi stid
Gotta love the chog tonight!
socket?
hi stid
her date was au current?
how many dates does it take to change a light bulb?
and i am lit up like a christmas tree ... been far too long since i shared a bottle of fumé blanc with a nice guy
depends on how you screw it in JMC
More than one in this case.
je, only one, if it's the right one
would anyone happen to have a clue fore the fe5/18 that is eluding me at this moment
*sigh* that is so true dorens
oh that's lovely dorens
hello also BR (I see you there in the background, now).... *offers choclits to everyone*
ruru's answer was the best!! of course
no shit dorens?
stid i have always wondered this.. why are they choclits? and not chocolates
well, it was the funniest... and i have decided that laughter is uber important
that was a clue
ruru, great clue...
oh!! stid and ru at the same time! ru, stid thinks that i am elegant. would you please straighten her out
and an elegant clue it was.
Thank you Dorens. Why ARE they choclits?
i agree dorens
you are..
<likes to cut to the chase on clues
they are choclits because they are guilt free and always available. Unlike the other ones that make me fat(ter) and run out too quickly. Also, I never have to read the label on choclits to be sure they are safe for me...
clearly. too funny.
constipated is not in the grid
rofl BR!
(big belly laugh here!!!!) y'all should have seen me today at the lake trying to figure out how to take the kayak paddle apart (forgot there is a button to push). Not elegant AT all
well thank you babrab, just what i was about to say
ah, but you see, an elegant woman isn't expected to know the ins and outs of breaking down kayak paddles. ;-)
still cant get ae 5. welcome new clues.
ok.. was looking from the wrong f!! thanks ru good clue
I just hope you didn't lose any of your diamonds or pearls in the lake...
mkg: like the FA 6 without the F
well.. stid.. if you go up the creek....well..
fa6/27 minus the f
an eagle's ne** mkg
LOL ruru
that is the whole point stid... NOt elegant. But I did wear pearls tonight. long string knotted, vamp style... along with black flipflops (just to make sure we know I'm not elegant)
i disagree stiddie an elegant woman can do anything elegantly
i never remember thta word for eagles nest. darn.
Black flip flops and pearls.. nice
agreed je
shabby chic, doren?
green linen sleeveless top and black slightly short pants. No, not shabby. They were leather tops (crocs tho)
what you breathe with a diminutive ending
*Still contemplating flip flops and pearls*
sounds nice dorens
i should take a picture
ae5/10 word is the fa 6/27 word minus the first letter mkg
still no luck with ae word. the 5. clues most welcome.
so i have a problem i need to share. . .
got it! ty for clues.
this is like playing tennis with Stevie wonder
sure jmc...
substitute the last vowel of the ae4 with ie
*problem solver hat on*
Spill JMC
ae + **c* is a grain,
hey grannyrose!
my sister wants to give me a week at a hilton head fat spa for my birthday. . .
*Still contemplating flip-flop crocs and pearls*
Hello grannyrose! How are you doing? Welcome to the chog
GO FOR IT!!!
and hello all, * cover broken * have to come out sometime, don't i?
And how do you feel about that?
Hi grannyrose
emphasize SPA....
ca 5 18 needed.
jmc is quite trim. do you want to go jmc?
when i got past the issue of her thinking i am obese. . . i actually hate group activities
pl mkg of the one before it
ca5/18, plural of place to have coffee
*wishing my sister would like to send me to hilton head*
i am over weight but not like HUGE
Never mind me. I got so jazzed when I saw SPA I didn't see FAT
Believe me, I know what you mean jmc...
my feeling is that once i was there i would join (or more significantly NOT join) activities as I see fit
i hate massages and i hate people messing with my hair and i hate manicures and pedicures
it's not a gift one dreams of.
I agree with dorens...
Well then, spas are NOT your thing...
they do have cooking classes
Maybe truck driving school jm?
have decided my physio is a sadist. he made me do one of my exercises( in the pool) with 2 foam noodles under my foot. all i can say is OUCH!!!!
and i am shy. . .so doing all this with people i don't know
ty i tried it before but didnt take. now it did. ty.
I suggest a polite decline.
but it's weird, because af5 3 or 4 the pain goes and i can go on and do 10 reps.
oh dear granny! no it is really not sadism
or gently suggest an alternative?
jmc, are group activities and such all required if you go there?
after all, it's your birthday, not your sister's
Would she be amenable to an ocean front room at Hilton Head, minus the spa?
there ya go, mol
it is mainly group things. . .i don't even take the classes at the gym where we go together
I was thinking that it might be really nice to have someone else prepare healthy meals, to have quiet and peace, and maybe a hot tub or sauna.
if that is all i had to do stiddie it might not be so bad
I like the idea of a different location, a different vacation, though.
The more I think about "I'd like to send you to a fat spa for your birthday" the more I don't like it.
hey jmc, you and i are very alike. i too cannot stand someone fussing around with any part of me,. have to steel myself to sit and have my hair cut. it just drives me nuts.
haha she opened it with. . .please take this in the spirit in which it is being offered
bless her . . .it is what she would do if she were fat (which she is not)
i would always be happy to lose a couple of pounds.. if they do the cooking and provide swimming pool, exercise equipment, hot tub and pleasant atmosphere.
To which my response would be, "and exactly what spirit is it being offered in?"
maybe send her to an etiquette spa for her birthday
rofl
DING! Rue has the best idea.
my response was "should i run away because that is not a good opening line?"
Only those of us who have fought the battle should have an opinion...no one else understands
i am overweight i will not lie. . .but i am not horribly overweight
oh ru aren't you sweet
Let's just cut to the chase. It was rude. My opinion.
she has made it clear it is my choice
so what would you like as a birthday gift, jmc? if you could have whatever your heart desired.
jmc, you are not obese! Me -- I am not obese either, though I could stand to lose about 30 pounds to save my joints...
hmmm good question granny
*thinking*
what happened to the nice birthday card and book thing
Would there be something else you can do that would be FUN for you that she would be willing to pay for?
a maid
ask for the cash instead.
ha!!!! beat you all hands down. i openly admit i am morbidly obese. my BMI is/was off the scale
kidding
a book and a card would be good too
oh dear granny!
maybe a gift certificate to a restaurant you really like so you could get healthy food at times you are not up to cooking it for yourself?
I'd go for a French Maid
besides, having been through the weight loss thing, what the hell is one week going to do? She should give you something for relaxation...
oh gee grannyrose... is that why you needed the surgery?
no thanks for that ru! haha
...little feather duster...
well there you are, jmc, quietly say to your sister, you know i would love a copy of whatever.
well ru, we all know what you would like
skimpy little maid outfit...
...stilettos...
(dont forget the stilletoes ru)
hahahahah
we all are familiar with the general idea, ru
ROFL
stiddy, i needed the surgery on my knee because i had no cartilage left, in any facet. my weight probably helped with it's degeneration
rofl... I think a cabana boy would be nice instead
i think the real problem is she is not working and therefore she is focused on me
yes, stid. perfect!
I have to run for a bit.. thanks for the laughs.
hmmm i wonder how much a cabana boy would cost
I am glad you could at least get the surgery, but so sorry that you needed it.
bye ru
(ruru has the runs for a bit????) *wicked mama look*
If it's your choice, then make YOUR choice. And I don't care what she is or isn't doing. That is still an AWFUL suggestion for a birthday present.
later ruru
by ru
ROFL...good one stiddy!
I agree with molly
interesting that he left immediately after the french maid idea.
I know! For her birthday, you can offer (in the spirit in which it is intended) a consultation with a local plastic surgeon... *VERY wicked mama look* I would not, of course, ever have the nerve to do something like that myself.
yeah i keep trying to find a way to say "thank you for your thoughtful gift" and keep thinking. . . "really? you think that is a nice gift?"
No, after the cabana boy
oh mab!!!
another one for stiddy!!
hahaha BR
BR... roflmao (if only butt reduction were really that simple)
stiddy, it's been an amazing journey. i have actually lost over 18kgs ( about 39.6lbs) now. as ruru said, the pain diet works.
no stiddie i love my sister and she does really mean the best for me
wtg granny!
ro 7 please
that's wonderful about the weight loss, because I know that your heart and everything else is going to feel so much better. But as a fellow chronic pain card holder, I wish it were from a different cause.
Well, I spent years heavy..but it was MY choice to change that, no one could do it for me, nor can I do it for anyone else...
same as the mo7 mkg
this mutual friend of outs went. . .but she likes group activities
I'm going to bow out of this conversation, because I don't think that gift was loving or meaning the best. I think it was mean.
I know, jmc - maybe this is an alternative? You could ask instead for her to spend a weekend with you somewhere nice so you can visit? Would probably cost about the same, and it would be a lot nicer.
ro7/28 word rhymes with an mo7/32 word(more wet) mkg
well trust me molls it was. . .she is just not always clear that i do not like what she likes
hello Min! (((hugs))) was thinking about you this weekend.
what jilly said, i had to have the wake-up call i did get to give up the smokes and start losing the weight.
ty got it.
we live about 10 blocks apart stiddie but i will think about what the alternative could be
Hello stidmama! (((Hugs))) back to you!Welcome to puzzle
YAYAYAYAYYAYAYAY granny gave up smokes!
okay thanks for helping me think about this. . . i will figure something out
lol, yes, jmc. next month marks my 1st anniversary
leaving to read a book . . . 68 left. . . c u all tomorrow
And you'll do it granny...I took my bmi from 36 to 21..feel so much better
grannyrose -- I know your situation is different, but for me every day that I get a little bit more progress I am stronger and it feels good. Today, I overdid it. Spent three and a half hours weeding (two separate shifts) and made really good progress. BUT now my hip really hurts. On the other hand, in a week, I will maybe be strong enough to do four hours in a single day and not need the crutches when I am done. I hope you will experience similar progress.
Jm, you gave us the reasons you are averse .... tell your sister to try to understand in the spirit the declination is given .... you would prefer a gift that is fun and not onerous
okay, jmc. enjoy.
*leaves mints on granny's pillow for later tonight*
st six plz
niters jmc
later jmc (((hugs))) OH! maybe she could fly you out here for the babble meet next month!!!!!!!!
night jmc
st6= don;t st**** over it....
thanx stiddy
good advice BR ty
no mints, jmc. but you could peel me a grape, please
beulah peel me a grape!
(sugar free mints?)
We'll send grapes and a cabana boy to peel them granny
bye all *poof*
stll not getting st 6 jilly
bye jmc
rofl, you peeps really make my day. it's not the grid i'm addicted to, it's you lot.
there's a great song called peal me a grape
st 6: when you have too much to do in too little time and it is important life-or-death you experience st6
mkg, s + lock of hair
ty got it.
nice clue grannyrose
st+you have to d**** properly for a wedding
thanx stiddy, as is yours
and jilly! you ladies are on fire tonight!
or is it morning for you grannyrose?
It's the chog, it's the chog!!
af5noon, 1:30pm here
It's blue sky here... but evening. It will be cloudy again by morning. *sigh*
i am embarrassed. my husband is one of the worlds authorities on st****. his first book was St****, catecholamines and cardiovascular disease.
oh, dear, mkg. but it's ok....we won't tell, right gals?
mkg..that was the word I finished with...and I had to ask for a clue....
ty
sounds like a hefty tome, mkg!
i have 52 left. but time for sleep. night all.
Well, sadly I must head to pillows...another work week starting early....niters babbleworld
sweet dreams mkg
and jilly
night, mkg. sleep well, hun. see you tomorrow
he is an m.d. and ph d. all his books are hefty. go google him. david s. goldstein, works at nih.
and night to our jilly. sleep well
I will mkg -- thanks
oooh he's HANDSOME, too!
lucky lucky mkg!
stid you have the wrong guy then.
try david s goldstein, nih. then you see the photo.
i love the guy and love is blind. but i dont think he is good looking. after all we are sixty four.
I see him -- did an internship/residency at university of washington, yes?
WOW!!!!! but sorry mkg, my Don beats the face fungus. don't you just love it?
yeah, we'll i'm 62 and very picky and I think he's cute (and I'm single!!) so watch out
Age is no barrier to being good looking, you know!
ooh. handsome and brilliant. i love that kind of man.
just had my 16th grandkid..........a boy. two more are cooking in the ovens. one daughter and one daughter in law.
clue for in 7 as long as we are here.
and i'm off to bed.. night all
that's marvelous, mkg -- what a great family you must have. They are lucky to have you as a grandmother
plural of in6
sweet dreams doren
Be well, Dorens
ty stid. spent 11 days helping my daughter. she has four others ages 1, 3, 5, 7.
plural the "to put in" word
ty for in 6 got it.
sleep well dorens.
night, dorens, sleep well, hun
that's a big family...
but nice spacing, I think -- so glad you were able to spend time helping her.
I only had the two, and they were exhausting enough.
i have 5 kids and a foster son i consider mine.
all the kids loved the big family and wanted to have a lot of kids. my daughter has an ill son and had terrible issues this pregnancy so this may be it.
Tom is the 4th of 5. I am the elder of two... but his parents came from even larger families
that is certainly a big family, mkg. they probably keep you young. at least that's what my parents used to say
Oh, I am sorry for the health issues -- that is such a worry
Goodbye Dorens! I'll see you tomorrow in the chog maybe.
that is zakkai who i wrote about before.
anyway must go to sleep. night all.
mkg, can you share re daughter's son, or would you rather not.
but loving the big family is a gift. I always feel lost when Tom's family gets together
laila tov, mkg
sweet dreams mkg be well -- and thinking good thoughts for your grandson
night, mkg. sleep well, hun.may you awake refreshed
okay, i'm off to do second of my 3 walks for the day. going to try for 6 house frontages. wish me luck.
good luck grannyrose, I will walk with you virtually *picks up walking stick*

And try to "type".

tony's a weird one, i'm surprised you can't hear the purr (roar) from wherever you are!
Haha!
Well you're in Louisiana and I'm in California. So that would have to be one LOUD purr.
he "reads" the paper too, of course all cats do that,
still wouldn't surprise me, he makes us laugh every day. does the kneading paws in the fuzzy rig thing, and you can hear him over a tv or radio
Ha. Yep.. they "read" anything that has your attention. Or sit on and block your view of it anyway. My stepmom has cats... they do that.
the dogs are better blockers, no remotes work near them
