Enjoy, then!

Lots of help available

Hello jilli, hello everyone!
flying used to be fun decades ago
hello Roses
Hi flosey!
only been flying a lot in the last 25 yrs or so...but big change now from about 10 yrs ago even
it certainly is no fun now

haven't flown since 1995... not planning on it any time soon
and now off to bed, goodnight all
wow volley
has anyone got the seven letter word yet
haven'y flown since 2 wks ago...before that 2 months ago lol
haven't
I found the 7-letter word based on a clue from awhile ago
gnight flosey
too difficult with RA and getting to gates quickly; have horrific eardrum issues when landing... so have been glad it hasn't been a necessity... used to take a few hours to fly...now it's an all-day event... body doesn't handle that well
nite flos
yes, taylorfan -- starts with de
taylor 7 letter word is de 7/32
nite flosey
i'm sorrty dee
clue for the lower right very last o please for nbt?
that sounds terrible
i agree volley...used to be able to fly direct to a lot of places from MSP....but from here everything is at least 2 legs and many times 3
oo 5
oo5 roses
oo 5/14
got it! Thanks!
in case you missed it roses oo5
:D
lol ruru!
I don't think anywhere has direct flights anymore...ty ru, appreciate that. My brother started coming to see us from Pittsburgh by plane - flights got so goofy out of Pitt when United left there
by train
is it an ear pressure thing dee?
i can go direct to chicago-minneapolis-atlanta-denver-dal las-houston on the main airlines...and we have allegiant that goes direct to vegas
oh yes, dee -- Air Canada has a direst flight from Vancouver to Sydney Australia -- 15½ hours!
who cares about vegas..ugh
direct -- direst too, I guess
is it a scary flight jilli?
I didn't do it, ruru -- yes, kinda scary
yes, ru, exactly; last time tried decongestant pills; ear and nose spray from ENT, and about died.... pressure in my ears (espec the left one) doesn't equalize, especially when they are in a holding pattern over an airport (Atlanta was the worst for me)
we used to fly all the time
great for you dart and espec for your wife who travels for business
that's really painful dee
dee.. ? .. one thing?
don't take up scuba diving...
here comes the pun
our nuclear family is within 6 hour or less drive, which is pretty enjoyable; when our daughter played in vball in Salt Lake City, we just took vacation time and drove... really beautiful
definitely not scuba diving
:D
love swimming, but haven't really swum underwater for a bunch of years
okay, back. ruru have responded to your email.
okay..thanks granny.
always wondered if ear issue was related somehow to rheumatoid - started about that time when I was first diagnosed
I should he4 out.. good night all you LOVELY people.
dee???? scuba diving?? would love to see that!
nite ruru
night ruru, sleep well mate
could be dee.. some people just have trouble equalizing
LOL went snorkeling in the Dominican in the 80's... was a little freaked by all the critters underwater, but did okay
I taught scuba diving for many years
sleep well ru
bet that was interesting
Don and 2 of his kids have ear issues when flying. but we found that if he chews gum, he's ok.
<has great ears
we lived on a large lake growing up, so was a "fish" most of my lie
gum never worked for me :( unfortunately
swam by 4 or 5 years old; waterskied... loved the water
could be an inflamation in the canal dee.. it could be related to RA
or your ears are trying to shut out your husband
I am stumped can't find anymore words
:D
lots of twisty ones taylor
I think you are right on both counts ru LOL ... funny story...
hey taylor, can you access lickety's list?
our daughter and her hubby bought a boat; they have an American bulldog, who hates water (breed is not known for swimming), so they bought her a life preserver for dogs...
what is that?
pics of the dog riding in the front of the boat with a vest... really made us chuckle
taylor, scroll down to under the tile stats. top of middle column...lickety's babble clues.
right click on it, and select open in new tab

WTG JILLI!!!!
nj jilli
wtg jili!
dart are you spending holiday in MO
thaks, all!
whoot, in 30 minutes we will be mother mac free for whole we4end.
aww that will be a nice break for you before you start work
*thanks, I mean (getting sleepy)
where is she going, rose?
please don't misunderstand me...love her heaps, but Don and i wanted one last we4end to ourselves before i go back to work.
thanks granny for the email
totally makes sense
she's off to her daughter's for 2 days and nights.
nice! Does her daughter live close?
np's ruru.
daughter lives about 30 minutes away. so still within range if we/i am ne4ed in a hurry.
that's nice, rose. Does she not visit her daughter very often?
no dee, she hates going there...because she's away from me. :(
wow, you must be an amazing caregiver; what a nice compliment for you!
lol, she says living with me is like having a Dr. 24/7 around her. she feels so safe when i am here.
that totally makes sense, granny; I feel that way when we vacation with my brother (who was a doc before he went into the ministry).... extra feeling of security
volley, sorry about the delay doing emails, going up there for the weekend. Maybe a Twins/KC game, shopping, restaurants, etc nothing really planned out yet except hotel.
sounds ike a fun time; I love unplanned vacations.... totally relaxing.
what's the weather going to be there?
depends on whether the rain from isaac gets that far west
chance of rain fri/sat..sunny on sunday/monday
hopefully, it will miss you
other than the baseball game...we can work around it
we are hoping to meet more of our neighbors Monday at a neighborhood picnic, but we'll see what happens weather wise
time for bed -- goodnight/day all...*poof
One couple brought us brownies last Sunday. That was a nice surprise. My hubby loves to go to baseball games when we visit Pittsburgh.
have you met most of them yet?
sleep well, Jili
nite jilli
night, jilli. hope you have a restful night, and sleep well.
fireworks! last word was a de4 that uses the high point letter. looked it up. actually a word I could slip into conversation perhaps.
WTG ROSES!!!!!
wtg rose!
yeah, rare for me. (take a bow.)
meant takes.
lol, of course you would, if you are a hockey player.
tomorrow will be waiting all day til 10 PM and a new grid.
is it a usual hockey word granny?
that's right... word was used in the hockey movies with Estevez... Mighty Ducks
i have decided after much consideration ad observance of how many sports players come through our operating suite that....sport is definitely harmful to your health.
maybe I can use it in petanque somehow. get creative. LOL
totally agree, granny
injured doing sports...or years later taking a toll
?
I would think both... our daughhter injured one knee and an ankle in high school and college v ball... was told at time of injury, she would end up with arthritis in both of those joints...
so true, dart. 42 years of working totally on my feet, played competition tennis until i was 18, did ballet until about the same time. all leg joints totally stuffed. gee...i wonder how that happened?
:( so sorry, granny. Orthopod told us that some of the problem with women in sports is the trainers push them to do exercises that are beyond the capability of their ages... said there were others she could have done to accomplish same strenghthening that would not have caused injury... really absurd when you think about it
it is absurd, dee. why can't these young women just enjoy the sport of their choice, without being pushed to their limits?
I am all for the competition and discipline, just not pushing to injury.
it seems if you show just an inkling of better than most, you MUST be pushed to do better.
part of the Japanese mentality across the world. I will say all of those characteristics (competition, hard work, discipline, setting goals and pushing) truly has helped our daughter succeed now...so it is an interesting phenomena
seems like now....too organized too young.....when I grew up we all played baseball/basketball/hockey etc during the season in neighborhood games....you didn't get serious until 8th or 9th grade...now they are in leagues and doing 4 nights a week and traveling when they are 8 yrs old....no time to be a kid anymore
hubby's knee issue is directly related to the years he played basketball and worked in construction
totally true dart. Lindz started in 4th grade at her request, and we had no clue at all what her vball commitment would entail. Society as a whole in the US is sports crazed.
sister's boy played baseball...they were traveling every weekend...not to the next suburb....some were 3-5 hr drives
we traveled from IN to KY, MI, IL, WI, and even MN, so I know what you mean. I will say as nuts as the costs / travel were, we did bond as a family, and it did keep our daughter out of trouble in high school - she wasn't here to get in trouble LOL.
2-3 games a week...a night or two of practice and all of your free time is gone
but that's crazy, dart. all the enjoyment goes out the window. fortunately only my middle son was sports crazy, still is at the tender age of 31. but i always encouraged him to enjoy the sport...
Almost as stupid as folks signing up unborn babies for elite preschools.
yep
hubby drove her to practice 3 nights a week 1 1/2 hours away (1 way)... she did homework driving up, and slept coming home...
consumes all of your time too
Next time we're together, I'll have to ask her what she thinks now about all of that. We had no life.
It did get her $20,000 toward college, so we were lucky about tha.
you want a laugh... son Simon has been asked to join the local footie team(AFL0, but he is going in as a veteran...at the age of 31 for gosh sakes!!!
(AFL)
some of our friends' kids would never have been able to go to college without that kind of financial help... which really made them obsessive about their sport of choice
wow, sure hope he doesn't get injured
we had fun making up games....choosing sides...making the rules....taught you leadership...how to get along with others...bargaining etc...we didn't always agree on stuff lol
but that's so sad, dee.
oh he's still pretty fit, dee.
lol bet you didn't agree... very true, too, dart. We were just commenting the other day that we don't see scads of kids out playing like that... too involved with dance, soccer, horses, etc...
too many stay inside and play computer games etc
like me now lol
'tis true
okay, mother mac has left the building...hubby and i have had a celebratory hug. next stop...take-away chinese, then up to the church. tonight we are having a 6 hour prayer vigil. just praying for aspects of our church/community life. we are going up in 3 hours.
sounds amazing, granny
tomorrow we are going to the movies with dinner/lunch depending on the time we choose.
I'm hoping to have a Bible study here starting in Oct for about 15 women... love those times
Have a wonderful weekend!!
Well, I am off til the flip; have a bunch to do tomorrow during the day! Hugs (granny) (dart) TTFN
they are certainly special times, dee
nite volley...i'm off too bye all
Bye, special friends! Waving!
and night, dear friend. hope you have a restful night, and sleep well
Ditto that!
night dart....and oodnight from me. hope all my fellow babblers enjoy the grid. see you at the flip
bye gran poof
darn!!! * goodnight*

anyone still here?
I am, and you, dianne
?
I always arrive hours late :(
hello everyone
{{hello annie}}
HOW ARE YOU? AND YOUR EYES?????
sorry for shouting, jsut was happy to see you
((ruby)) How is everything? My eyes is good, one more week on drops then done.
that is great news! husband had very successful cataract surgery, also, but many years ago
my eye is good...why did i plural? Still not fully awake
Ruby is, miraculously, doing much better!!!!
How is Ruby?
I was afraid she was dying, but she's responded to the meds and is more active, eating better, and panting less
That is wonderful. You must be very relieved.
it's like a huge weight was lifted off my head
I truly thought she was a goner
Of course. I am so happy it turned out as well as it did.
this grid reminds me of yesterday's grid. The words start out okay and then there is no ending that fits.
I am not keeping track but know that I never finish
It;s just about the Hawaiian alphabet.
hello kaplan, haven't seen you in a while
hi Kap, Looks that way
I know.
hmm, hawaian alphabet?
I'm not sure if t and d are in it, but I think basically, that's what we have here.
how do you spell those board walk dolls?
The Hawaiian language was an oral tradition. The Hawaiian alphabet (piapa), was written by 19th century missionaries. The alphabet contains 12 letters: 5 vowels (a, e, i, o, u) and 7 consonants (h, k, l, m, n, p, w). To simplify pronunciation, sound consonants as in English and break up words so they are easy to say e.g., Waianapanapa sounds like Wai-a-napa-napa.

Could I get a clue for stand alone 'L' below the other 'L". I think it is a le4/8. There are two of them.
it's the onion-like veg
both sound the same - one is wet, the other the n national flower of Wales
there are 3 le 4/8...the veggie, when a pipe breaks, and le and the movie The Glass **y
menagerie?
hahah, fading out.....
TY Annie
ruby, It's an old movie with Alan Ladd ( boy, am I dating myself!)
a (not so) nice Tasmanian boy
lynxxx, Who is Tasmanian? Not Alan Ladd
I must get a biography of him - it would be very interesting
have i had too much wine?
I have!
I will google him later...lynxxx, sounds as if you had a good time
geez - Errol Flynn
close in age anyway
Flynn was a piece of work...they were of the same movie era
I have an old movie poster of Alan Ladd...advertising The Blue Dahlia. I had a crush on him when I was about 12. LOL. Many, many years ago.
$8.81 for My Wicked Wicked Ways - delivered from the UK. Good value
I just bought a ton of books. My friend and I went to Housing Works ( a used book store in Manhattan that advocates for people with HIV/AIDS). All the books are donated and in very good condition. A worthwhile cause. They also have a very nice cafe where I had a great cup of coffee.
sounds like a very satisfying day
It was. Bobby also came with us. He has 2 wonderful baseball books. A very good day.
Bobby is your grandson?
Bobby is my son. He has Down Syndrome and lives with me. He took the day off from his workshop and came with us.
and obviously a baseball nut, bet he had a good time rummaging
Yes, he did. He has a good time in bookstores.
Now that I mentioned coffee I am going to make some. be back soon.
We don't see any second book shops here anymore, they were my favorite source of books in m y 20 & 30s
my cat is making me crazy. His is sitting on the mouse, and has his tail across the keyboard. bbl I need coffee and I think he is hungry...again.
gosh - I thought you meant a real mouse
I also miss the neighborhood second hand bookstores. They have some in Manhattan but not in Brooklyn. They were a joy to rummage through.

Good morning all

howdy boo
yep - probably should have stayed a couple days more, but i can rest better here
just in time
besides, i think they were trying to kill me.

Hi crossy
hi boo
Hi welki
and it is now time for crossys tidbit of the day!!!
By law, French workers get at least 30 paid vacation days each year.
well i knew that. can we have two tidbits?
ill do a bonus one when car.eeore get here
ok
thanks cross :) anyone have the lower L?
like an onion, hursh
ok,a better tidbit for hurshy...

Built in 1889, the Eiffel Tower was lambasted by Parisians for its industrial ugliness. The only thing that saved it from being demolished in 1909 was its potential use as a radio tower during World War I. Luckily, by the end of the War, it had won over enough hearts to stay.
a french theme today
onion? layered?
thats the way it rolls sometimes
no - you might make a soup with potatoes and put some of them in
that one comes from the top L
ohhhhh how did i miss that, i love potato le4 soup!
:D
oh - was spelling it differently
Glad you're home Welki. Hope you get some decent rest and that the healing goes well.
thanks, molly - i have to really put my mind to the rest part of it and try not to pay attention to the work that's piling up at the office and the housework piling up right in front of me
Good morning!
Welki! I am so glad you are home! No surgery I take it?
car!!!
Good morning Crossy!
Hi Molly! I really like your icon!
thankfully, no surgery - so lucky. and so paranoid about every bit of food i eat and every tiny ache and twitch and pain *lol*
Clearly in sympathy with your ailment, I have had a stomach "bug" this week.
sorry car,i posted the tidbit a tad early,so here is one just for you
Neil Armstrong’s astronaut application arrived a week past the deadline. A friend slipped his form into the pile before anyone could notice.
Crossy! you are too sweet! I can go back and see it!
nice. now that one i did not know.
{{Neil Armstrong}} TY Crossy.
sometimes it's hard to tell the difference between a 'bug' and something serious - be careful
Hi Hurshy!
It's good to have connections. Good morning and happy Friday, Babblers!
howdy judi
Hello Judi!
I am keeping an eye on it, but I have had something similar before. I feel hungry all the time...the burning, churning, "I haven't eaten in hours" feeling constantly. But then, when I eat, the cramps are horrible!
*singing steamroller* i'm a cement mixer for you, baby - a churning urn of burning funk
lots of chicken soup and mulled whiskey car
That would be me! Funky!
Hi Lovelies
hego :)
No whiskey. The thought of the burn from it makes me shudder to think of it in my stomach. Save me some though, I would enjoy it any other time!
: D
Hi hego!
morning all!
hi Car
morning sue
Do you have an ulcer, car?
Sue!!
hi hego and wv!
the wandering Sue is home. lol
howdy suze!

hi crossy!
uusue!!!!!
Hi WV!
hi car!
I used to Judi, but this is different.
I loved your traveling photos! TY so much for posting them!
I had such a great time, car!
she is queen of the road for sure!
I drove from Florida to Mass by myself once and cut through West Virginia and Pennsylvania to visit friends. I loved it!
i thought of you yesterday, hego. read an article about eating one's way through sicily
sounds fun Welki
car, I get some stomach trouble sometimes and find that vanilla or tapioca pudding is very soothing
Yum...vanilla pudding....TY!
with or without 3" of whipped cream on it?
just thinking the same thing Car
well, the whipped cream might be soothing too :-)
And stand back everyone...I am sneezing up a storm this morning!
*ducks*
acck! car has the sneezles!
and bless you!
and bless you!
I ran out of allergy medicine about 2 days ago...and then cleaned the bunny cage last night..Got a HUGE puff of rabbit fur in my face....it was all over after that!
It ain't easy being me somedays! LOL!
uusue...what was your favorite part of the trip...besdies hanging with Babble Buddies of course!
Oooh! na 5/12...the water nymph!
she liked being alone in the car with no one to bother her. lol
ty Car
ty car
LOL!
a little solitude is good for the soul.
car, I really enjoyed seeing a lot of places I'd never been before!
I was just working on the family schedule for the rest of the year...turns out every other Saturday I will have 2+ hours to myself in the mornings!!!!!!
and I did like being alone in the car, and being able to stop whenever anything caught my fancy, without having to discuss it with anyone :-)
now that's planning!
Ahhh...freedom! I am so happy for you uusue!
It really was wonderful.
Did any of the other Babblers also travel alone and hve adventures?
you have planned all the familys life for the rest of the year?? now that is organization!!
I brought hubby
and of course the babblers were all lovely people, and very welcoming and sweet!
stidmama and stidgmere came together
I am also impressed with that crossy
I found that also Sue.
*Wonders how one does that*
jillibus came by herself but she's only an hour or so away, and had been before
lol, personally,i have no idea what is going to happen ten mi9nutes from now, never mind tomorrow or next month or in december!
Fireworks!
Between school, Scouts, swimming, Mom's activities, etc...it just put it all done as soon as I can. Each of us has a different color highlighter, so I can just look at the week or the day and it pops right out at me.
yaa for judi!!
Molly, I have no idea.
Oh well done Judi!
Yay!! judi!
and then she (jillibus) kidnapped me and made me stay with her for another couple of days (seriously, she was very gracious, and has a lovely home)
Hego, did you drive as well?
yay judi!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
uusue...did you have a favorite spot that you found?
Oh poor uusue! the horror!
<---Has never and will never been that color codedly organized.
we flew to the Seattle and drove up to Vancouver.
Don't be too impressed...I was an administrative assistant and event planner in my past life. It is just habit.
*raises hand* Could someone please kidnap me?
We need markers Molly.
That's the secret.
*Gets on horse to ride to Judi's rescue*
<snatch> Judi, you have officially been kidnapped! We are heading to the beach!
*swoons*
uses Google calendar - it color codes each persons and can be shared across computers
I would love to be kidnapped by Jill.
she is very interesting.
See! WV gets it!
Oooh! Molly is coming with us!!!!
Wait, let me check my color coded organizational chart to see if I'm free.
If I write something down, then somewhere it is logged in my brain. If I don't take that simple step, it is gone. Managing 5 people's schedules, a lot can be forgotten!
I loved Salt Spring Island (where Jilli lives), car, and want to go back with Frank, maybe next year
Bbbbbllllh!
and i want to explore more of Vancouver Island as well
y D IL work schedule changes each week and helps me know when "grandma care" is needed - along with all of my other activities
*Wonders what color marker "Babble time" is*
I want to go see carleekat and crossy!
lol
Me too Car
Oh, I don't write down Babble time...I take it whenever I want it!
2 WHOLE free hours EVERY OTRHER saturday?? wow...car,you need to block off and entire day just for yourself where nothing has to be planned and you can go with the flow
dorr is always open for you car
<---- thinks the boys need to come with me on my run today...they have WAY too much energy and volume this morning!
sue - we were out there last summer and loved the Olympic peninsula
door
I wouldn't know what to do with myself Crossy.
i used to be like that
I wanted to go see carlee and crossy this year but somehow I am working again, so it will have to wait until next year, I think - but don't think you're getting out of it, crossy!

I want to see more of Canada.

Crossy hides under the bed.....
I just found out about a great camp in Montana at Glacier National Park...think that we might have to do that in a couple of years!
<--- too old to camp
Dylan may still be too young at only 7.
<---- hates camping. They have cabins.
poink..back for a sec.my elegants eyes have gotten too bad for this game, but the thinks of you all and asks about the stuff going on in babble each day

me too, 90 degrees out. Had to go to the Apple Store [not close] to try to do something with my dying IPod.
Hello all...
I don't think I have ever seen an Apple store. Could they fix your iPod?
Hi Jilly
Yes and no. It's almost 4 years old and the battery is close to being kaput. I can get a totally new one for $60. I lost my connector that charges and lets you download music to it. Had to buy a new one of those. Will get the new one soon. Have to turn in my old one.
Hi Jilly
The Apple Store was wild. Filled with people [early in morning] and the next appt. for a tech was 2:15 from then
Mine is older than that, but I hardly ever use it.
I use mine every day when I take long walks with the fluffies
Ouch...wow bichon
Ah, I don't walk with music on. I would probably use mine more if I did.
Hard to believe new iPods are down to 60$. They were a lot more than that when they first came out.

hi all
Was off for awhile to check on a fire in so MT in the area I spend my childhood... :'(
wb jilly
howdy jes
in MT? what's on fire?
hi jes? How's the diabetic kitty doing, any luck on finding him a home?
sort of... except the guy who took him, who has another diabetic cat, and who verified the insulin dose with me before taking the cat...
proceded to give him 20 units instead of 2 units, 2 doses in a row. so cat's been in hospital all week trying to keep him from dying the first day and a half, and since then trying to figure out long-term regulation again.
*cusses* wish you were closer and I didn't already have two cats...praying for the kitty!!
pretty sure he's gonna be okay, just having to figure out whether he'll end up hypersensitive to insulin, or refractory to it
Lucky he didn't die with the first dose!!
Mine was on Lantus, $$ but did him well and we had him well controlled
yeah; the only other cat i've seen get OD'd like that also survived, but ended up blind and with permanent brain damage/personality changes.
Not good *fingers crossed*
nbt
yeah, he's doing way better than i expected... adopter brought him in seizing
Dang! Brain damage could be a reality...poor little kitty...and wtg on nbt
good lord!! poor kitty!
pretty sure the trial adoption is gonna be permanent after this though - i don't see the guy putting all the money into hospitalization and treatment and then giving me the cat back...
put the instructions for dosing on a big sheet
so maybe i should get a picture of the marten and change out my icon...
Wow! Well good for him on that at least!!
And have him draw up insulin in front of you!!
That icon idea is great!
yes!
heh. well, the way we verified the OD is to make him show on the syringe how much he drew up - he misread the 20 for 2 somehow.
put electrical take on the syringe to mark correct dosage?
tape
hi all -- have never heard of that northern sea - where is it?
heh. i think he'll be uber-cautious from now on.

13 left and stuck, may have to go to the list
hi all
Hi peri! I had to list with all those darn vowels!
just sent washington post an email...
they posted an article mocking some GOP speeches but they said "instead of printing the whole thing, just go watch" ---- that pissed me off lol
Just read it on FB...good for you Cos!!
oht hey provided "transcribed" captions but that does not work. no one uses it because it is 99% inaccurate
Wouldn't want to have to pay for people to sign...isn't that a job..thought they were the job creators!!
oh the RNC had interpreters I saw them on msnbc.
but my point is about online media.
Ahhh
was pretty cool to see on msnbc a panel, and u could see some interpreters in the background practicing the speches
Reminds me of the woman at the rock concert signing a metal band....great to see people taking ownership of their work!!
Lady Gaga is learning ASL now so she can give a concert using ASL only. I dont like her but I give her huge props for that.
But with our technology, the online media should be a given..
Gaga has her moments!
FEC ruling issued a few weeks ago - all online media MUST have captions/subtitles by 9/30/2012. so lets hope
Let's see what the Democrats do! *fingers crossed*
yes. im not expecting much though. although on the dnc website's delegate area. i played around and i saw a request form for "Asl interpreters"
I do remember some previous debates where they did the picture in the corner with the interpreter
that was back in the days where captions werent installed in TVs
now theres really no reason to use captions. it does not cost much at all.
cnn. msnbc and fox - to their credit - are captioned 24/7
Since I only have slight knowledge of ASL, but a big experience with captioning...think the signers are better...
no actually captions are -- helps improve reading and vocabulary.
and a lot of people don't always sign the same thing the same way
WEll, I guess one reads through the typos
live captioning - then maybe signer would be better. but if it isnt live then thats best
All I learned was basics of the sign language they use for infants/toddlers...my nephew needed it with a neurologic condition that slowed his speech learning
live captionings = tons of typos and slow. but if its built in captioning then its great
ahh nice. research shows if a baby learns sign even with ability to hear - they learn to talk a lot earlier.
Any how, in this day the technology needs to be mandatory
yep. it will be soon iif all goes as planned
I was very impressed, it is truly amazing...these little ones really communicate well before they can speak, it is truly amazing
Well, heading off to fix dinner...enjoyed our chatting cosdem...hagn!
*poof*
would you all be of the opinion that a child who could sign at a young age, would they not get "lazY" with learning to vocalize when signing is so much easier at first?
though it would be very interesting and healp the child later in life
Back while dinner cooking...and no crossy, all the studies point to earlier learning with signing. they are literally earnest to be able to communicate.
If I was having kids now, I would have them signing....
Damn, watching news...went outside, there's a fire on the top of the ridge here...crap!

:)
I am about to hit the tub...
cause i scared all the others away.
AFter last night, I am not worried about anything...
feather!!! hi everyone!
you know, kje, we do have an awful lot of discussions about our "racks"......
hi dawg!
it's boobie time!!
Hi dawg...well, we finally have a fire near town :(
hee hee, those racks are usually scrabble racks, but whatev
are we watching birds?
I don't!!! I have no idea who you're discussing yours with!
you do too! you tell me when you have an awful rack lots of times!
ugh, been eating smoke up here for the last couple of days, Jilly. getting it from all around us.
It's twitter time!
Ah... Yes. We do discuss THOSE racks... mine usually win there too ; )
oh no about the fires
Sorry about tje fires
We've been in smoke for weeks, but now there is a fire on the ridge of the mountain above town...the one you always see on KPAX livecam
not many places in MT that aren't either burning or suffering from the smoke.
heard Hialite was on fire, threatening the water shed.
Yep, the place up the Gallatin where I spent my childhood summers is on fire...
:(
are they getting them under control?
haven't heard the latest count on acerage yet.
I don't know how all you feel, but I just cannot believe that climate change isn't to blame
winds are hindering most of the fires, weed.
oh no
nearly 10,000 on the gallatin fire. Pine Creek in the Paradise even worse
we don't have no climate change...NOT!!!
And the hot dry weather...
Amen dawg!
the spring rains were good for building the kindling
It's getting so I dread summers anymore....
not summer...fire season.
That and the pine beetle...I do think there is a place for logging..though I know many disagree...
logging is important, just not stripping the whole mountain of all the forests
pine beetle is rampant. we just haven't had the bitter winters to kill them off.
Totally agree there dawg...I know there can be a balance between the two...
balance is so important in ALL areas of life
Thankfully, when my parents owned the place in the Gallatin, they had it thinned...
thinning and maintenance, being stewards of the planet
trying for NBT, any help with the left side E?
*puts on birkenstocks to join conversation*
I rememer in the 60's or very early 70's, there was n infestation in the Gallatin, but the winters then took care of it.
en + spanish aunt, feather
Hey there ruru...
*passes out weed* appropriate, no? ;)
Sorry feather...
ty dawg! now i can list free and clear
talk about stewardship weed..lol
dont' have to be a granola to join the conversation, ru.
Just nursing a Cold Smoke...local scottish ale...
*Bets serious money that Ru does not (nor ever would) own a pair of Birkenstocks*
I just had a lot of bubbly
ooooh, nice
No, he probably has Crocs....
*hic*
i ♥ my crocs!
I don't have any birkenstocks nor do i have crocks
Oh, don't get me started on Crocs.
I wouldn't be caught dead in a pair of crocs
LOL Molly...I actually wear them at work..with all the standing I do....
or even those goofy monkey feet shoes that kje wears
Sounds nice Ru, only way to start a 3 day weekend
*sound of Jilly croaking dead*
my son daniel loves his crocs.
they are not a fashion statement, for sure! lol
It was a nice way to start the weekend. I really do like champagne
I just put on shoe covers required in my department...and no one knows...
kje, you have toe shoes? i forgot about that! one of my best friends does too.
no crocks for me and the birkies are wide,,,
I like my Cold Smoke...
I am not the one needing joints replaced ru
it's rough having to taste people on wine all the time
poor ru, the things you suffer thru.
from what i've observed, people who have never worn them think they're the ugliest/weirdest thing ever, and people who have worn them LOVE them.
I was just going to ask you Jilly. My daughter-in-law is a nurse and she told me they are not allowed to wear Crocs.
What an odd comment
Ru's
i'm still puzzling tasting people on wine....
Weeds is correct
so true, feather. gotta try them to feel how comfy they are.
They tried that here...but the local podiatrist stood up for us!!
well... it was kind of a sarcastic joke kje
He's clearly had too much bubbly, weed
*Wonders why no one understands a play on words*
must be
There is a tripping hazard, but with the shoe covers I have no problem.
i dont' understand why i can't wear them at work, they are just as "protective" as tennis shoes.
am i going to hit myself in the forehead for the aa word?
Reread chog and chuckling...
yes
Wrong comment ru
close feather
No crocks at my facility, but it has more to do with slipping...and such...
yes, you probably will, feather
there is an aa word?
Say aa-- pt
it's the pt of the sound you'd make if you got the word
oooh I already had that one.
not sure which comment you mean kje
I have the 'Professional' crocs that don't have all the holes...better protection
whoops phone...don't have any fun for a few OK?
sigh. ty. goes hand in hand with the oo word.
I wear 2 in he**s mostly. no protection.
*hits the pause button for jilly*
i have the Rx design and the professional. was told can't wear them cuz if something fell on my foot i'd get hurt...uhm, i'd get hurt with tennis shoes too.
You were clearly distracted by your wet tshirt
<---Thinks Professional Crocs is an oxymoron
unless you're wearing steel toed shoes, your feet will get hurt if something falls on them
that was my point, feather. but tennies are okay, but no close toed crocs.
brb
odd policy then
Check fbp post weed
k
sheesh, these A words are starting to give me a headache from smacking myself on the forehead after I see them finally
<--thinks professional crocs sounds like a crock of...
They are easy. Sure you haven't been drinking rue's bubbly?
i wish!
I only had a little
daniel's are kinda cool though...we had to get them when we were at Disney, as he blew out his sandals. the disney crocks have Mickey shapes for the holes.
crocs, lol

are you in any danger jilly?

Stay safe jilly

ta6 is food, I think
*sends marshmallows to Jilly*
The ti 6/21 word is a paste made of ground sesame seeds.
I hope there aren't a lot of homes out there though Jilly
*ti 6/21
*ta 6/21
Sorry
hmmm, that's the ta6 isn't it?
Probably not, well in town, no danger in the 2000 fires...just hate the smoke...
Mmmmmm baba ganouj
Ti6 = fork part + not ego
That ti 6/21 word is ti 4/4 word plus a Freudian term nrkii
thanks!
Fw!
Right now it's on the west side of the ridge; no home. Will hit a section already burned in 2000 so it'll probably not endanger homes....

hiya DC
I debated starting puzzle at flip because I had to get up early. I we 4/8 ah 5/14 and started it anyway. I oo5/14 and aa 5/14 over fireworks earlier today . Now now I'll le 4/5 you a ha 4/6 with a story la5/12 with hi 4/5s for those who ne 4/5 it. My hubby's hatred for Obama runs de 4/6. Actually, it has de6/24ed the last few years. He claims NOT to be Republican, but Independe4/5. I think he is in de 6/21 about his political status. I do not know why he feels the ne 4/5 to hi 4/6 his political status. He really gives me a he 4/6ache with his political rants. He has this crazy id 4/5 Barack Obama is the reason for the national deficit. Husband isn't too ke4/8 on him getting re-elected. He believes Mitt Romney will take the le4/5 and win the election. He believes all of Obama's secrets will le 4/8 out and ruin his chances of winning.Husband has already told me some things about him that have le 6/33 out, but I do not believe them. I will stay le 4/4 to Obama and vote for him. I will we4/9 though if he does not get re-elected. I ke4/9 on shaking my he 4/6 every time he calls Obama a Socialist. Husband is blind to the fact Romney will continue tax breaks for the we4/8thy. Now that I've ai4/5d you with a story, I am going to get off this he 6/21 and watch Let's Make a De 4/5 on GSN. I have to he4/6 hubby warnings about wanting laptop. I will start the next puzzle an 4/8 tomorrow, the last day of the we4/8. I might pe4/9 back in here before I go to bed. I hope that you've obta4/4ed more words with this story of clues. I bid all babblers ad5/14 for the evening.
i'm back online again
hi, ruru, kje, mab, et al
evening, minver
They have mailed me another. Hopefully here tomorrow
hi dc, hi dorens
Hi dcseain! How are you doing? Welcome back to the grid.
Hi dc!!!
hi, dorens
howdy, kje, long time
*waves to Doren*
And hi Dorens (even though you left me off the list : )
I know dc. So much has happened! I've moved!
oh, cool. still in the DFW area?
Hello mab! How are you doing today? Welcome to the chat
Hi to dorens and dc!!
evening, JJ
Nope.
hello again mab!
I'm living in SAN FRANCISCO!!!
Just a little happy about it
just noticed your icon, and decided that was a clue. Mazel tov!
:)
it's a lovely, lovely city.
what a wonderful place to live
hiya, feather
Saaaan Fransisco..open your golden gates, I'm coming home again to stay!!
And not 100 degrees!
And not the humidity!
hi seain, was just reading your dinner commentary :)
But my hair is frizzy here... must work on tne hair
was in baltimore today kj. just a quickie visit. got there at 6 pm yesterday and left after breakfast today. but roland park is sooo beautiful.
LOL rather long, but i think informative, feather :)
highly humectant shampoos and conditioners for curly and/or damaged hair are your friends, kje
What are you talking about, jilly! Humidity here is in the 80-90s almost every morning
i wish i was more invested in cooking! i need a chef.
Me too, sounded yummy! Mine was wh wheat penne in an olive oil sauce with garlic, fresh cherry tomatoes, basil and zuccini, sprinkled with parmesan and bacon
Baltimore has lovely bits and scary bits. Roland Park is lovely.
Thus the frizzy hair. My friend kept accusing me of getting a perm
Doesn't feel sticky like east coast..just chilly...
aside from bacon, sounds lovely, JJ (i'm not at all a fan of pork)
For non FB'ers -- Dinner: Fresh onion and dried garlic, stir-fried in canola oil, to which i added ginger, salt, paprika, coriander, crushed red pepper, cumin, and mustard seed. When the mustard seeds popped, added a couple pounds of home-grown, peeled, chopped, tomatos, simmered briefly, added a very healthy handful of kale, trimmed and torn, braised to deliciousness.
Just a wee bit of bacon dc...
yes, and they will avoid the scary bits. from what i understand, the borders are well regarded. hope that stays true
Crap. Lost Dorens b-more post off the end if the page before I could read it
:) all good, JJ, eat as you will :D
It's true, Dorens. The lines ate pretty well drawn
Are you still there?
it's all good, kj. they are in a lovely place.. nice to walk around. kids are ecstatic. house is quaint, really unusual, strange things lovey plantings
she said "was in baltimore today kj. just a quickie visit. got there at 6 pm yesterday and left after breakfast today. but roland park is sooo beautiful."
wunderbar, dorens :)
fig tree (Levi picked some for me and they were scrumptious). huge redwood (what is that doing in baltimore?) and lots of nice stuff
Oh drats. Was going to give her s breakfast rec
miss shirley's?
I liked Baltimore, dorens
Silver Moon Diner in Baltimore is a fave of mine, as is Miss Shirley's
Yep, lol, that is one of them. My other fave breakfast was blue moon on fleet
Shielded has awesome grits tjough
we went to miss shirley's this morning. wow. fried green tomatoes, grits, blackened salmon. yum. will have to trie silver moon and blue moon in the future.
Shirley
Plan on being on the east coast again December 2013 when oldest son graduates...will have to remember that...
where's he in school, JJ?
Norfolk-ODU...but we will have to go up to MA to see other son..
I lived in norfolk for 5 years
starting at birth
I'm in Northern VA -- about 3h from there, and lil*monkey and another babbler live in that area.
Small world...
Hmmm, future babble meet up then!!
You should meet up with them all, Jilly - lovely group of peeps
It was so cool to meet uusue this summer!!
I'm iPhone babbled out. HAGN all. Great to see you DC!
NIters kje...hagn!
be well, kje, g'night
bye kje
and JJ, yes, i think we could plan a meet-up for when you'll be there.
Second on the 'happy to see DC 'comment
Niters K
The pint of ale is necessitating a brb...
evening, torg
Heya dc
what is a pannini maker? is it like a toaster oven?
and life. what is the meaning of life?
42 is the meaning of life
why is the sky blue?
A sandwich press ..
panini maker is an electric or stovetop device that presses and grills a sandwich on both sides.
water vapor is why we most of us see the sky as blue.
It reflects the ocean ..
(i can be such a party pooper at times.)
like a george forman grill
i have a muhammed ali jump rope.
not usually, but at the same time not unlike. i suppose one could use a Foreman grill to make one.
well it sounds very nice.
I would dearly love to see some water vapor and not smoke DC..
Oh, yesterday i ended up setting foot in the elementary school i attended. That was slightly surreal after all this time.
are there fires near you JJ?
did everything look really tiny?
ooh, fires. that's so frightening.
We've been smokey for weeks from ID, WA and CA..but now there is one about 5 miles west of here..
that's close.
if no one got hurt i would like new england to burn down.
They can't get to it by manpower, have been dropping water on it.. *fingers crossed*
Ouch mab...why?
not fond of the tiny part of new england i inhabit.
Where are you?
I HATED where i lived in New England, so i feel ya mab.
it's petty of me to want the whole region to burn.
I hope it stays miles from you, JJ
My son lives in Millville MA...he loves it!!
the great commonwealth of Mass
Well, the burn area from 2000 may be a saving point...
I was in the Boston area, in Boston proper.
a, a natural firebreak leftover from last time. May it protect.
i just want to go home to washington
Such a great city...we loved it!
Well, that I can understand mab...I love WA!!...well, most parts of it...
oh no, wash d.c.
I love living here in the DC area -- but then again i grew up here.
That too is very nice..
When we visited our son in VA we went to see friends in Arlington...
The traffic here sucks, but i still think it's a great place to live. I love helping people find homes within a reasonable commute radius.
Is that what you do dc?
That's what I loved about the east coast...commuting and not driving!
i will be living in an apartment in dc proper, i hope
yep. i'm in real estate in Northern Virginia. I look forward to getting my DC licens in several months.
Nice!!
I want to settle down in Arlington i think, but going back into DC is tempting too. We'll see what happens.
I liked Arlington and so did my friends...nice little cozy neighborhoods and great little ethnic restaurants
Any near prospects for moving mab?
no, not for awhile.
Arlington also offers the benefits of living in DC with more consistently better schools and lower auto insurance.
we look forward to welcoming you back here mab, and hope you'll keep me in mind when the time comes :)
Good point dc...gotta consider all the costs of living!
thanks dc, but i will be renting.
for the rest of my life most likely.
property-ownership-wise, DC, MD, and VA are a wash. So it gets down to a lot of nitpicky variables for some, and lifestyle for others, and intersection thereof for yet others.
renting does have some huge advantages on many fronts :)
i like renting. I have all my life.
Oh, but having equity is great!
brb...hubby on phone...
The cost of entry to the market here is high, though, so owning is not for everyone, and not having to worry about maintenance is a winner for many.
What's the median price thre DC?
In Fairfax County, VA 375K, in Arlington County, VA 425k
300k in Prince William County, 400K in Loundoun County.
In DC proper, i think 450-475k, but am not certain.
Entered last word and got fireworks! de6/24 was last word
well done, minver :)
Yay Min!
hurray min!
holy buckets!!! that's waay to rich for my blood. and now i'll take my blood off to the pillows. see you all tomorrow.
whooo hooooo MIN!!
WooT WooT WooT minv
sweet dreams, dawg
night dawg
Niters dawg...
Well DC, puts ownership out of my league...
my mom's neighborhood in Prince William County ranges from 85k to 250k depending on the property.
That's more like it...
affordable is out there, even closer in, depending on size of house and state of house, and proximity to what of the house.
85K for a house?
a non-end-unit town house in need of some mostly cosmetic repair.
I guess I'm used to over inflated Montgomery County prices.
LOL...we just put my m-i-L's house up for sale for 75K....
MoCo is generally about 20% less compared to similar property in Fairfax, mostly due to radically different property tax structures in the two states. OTOH, Bethesda and parts of Rockville mostly WAY overprice in my view.
anyway, need must go clean up kitchen.
See you later DC, nice chatting...too long since we've done that!
DC and the DC Metro area is full of high salaried people. Ergo, the high housing prices. The old "what the market will bear" adage applies.
It's the capitalistic American way ;)
I'd really prefer to live in a more median income area where the people aren't so high falutin'. And when my youngest wraps up his vocational training in a few years, I may do just that.
Well, in 1989 when we moved back to MT..we bought an 1800 sq ft house, 3 bdr, 2 1/2 bath house on a 1/2 acre for $60,000. Now it would go for $200,000
You couldn't get anything around here on a half acre for 200K.
Yah, probably would take an act of God to get me out of this house...besides the views...
It looks like a beautiful State, from everything I have seen.
It differs greatly across the state, the western half is the pretty part, in my view
hi jill
and molly
hi harp...Ward mountain fire.. :(
Ward? I heard Downing?
Can you see flames?
Went out about 10 minutes ago and didn't see flames. As sun set I could differentiate the plumes from it vs all the smoke coming in
My bad...it is Downing...
They're calling it the Sawtooth fire, so I'm assuming it is on the south side of Downing.
Yes, the trail has been closed.
ka6?
k+ c*** and Abel + 'tag, you're **"
thanks
i miss the days i did full-time childcare here and the kitchen was always spotless. Cleaning up the kitchen when i'm here babysitting is a ton of work.
LOL...welcome back DC...

No, apparently it's some obscure sea. But if you don't read geography books voraciously, see Jilly's clue.
Anyone know what any of the three O words are??? thank you in advance!
